requested by anonymous! i hope you like it and that I did it justice! i kind of took it and ran. i made it much more deep than i initially planned, so i hope you like it!

warnings: talk of sexual abuse and rape, with both eddie and reader, angst and tears, language, mentions of drug dealing and absent parents. reader is struggling to connect with eddie and he doesn’t know why, kinda leaves in a cliffhanger??

Sometimes Eddie wondered if you liked him, because half the time it didn’t seem like you did. You’d become stand-offish, quiet, shrink in on yourself. His “Are you okay?” was always met with an “I’m fine.” and nothing more. It always seemed like you were protecting yourself. Not just from him, but from everyone. You loved his friends, but sometimes they scared you. You never knew who to trust. Would one of them hurt you, given the chance?

One thing was for sure though, you loved Wayne. He was like the father you never had growing up. From the way he talked, looked, his personality, it reminded you of a father. Eddie was extremely lucky to grow up with him while he did.

Eddie wasn’t stupid, however, he knew some of your behavior had to do with your upbringing. You’d shared some of it with him before, time and time again, here and there. You’d grown up pretty similarly to him. Dead beat parents that abused you, surrounded by their friends who eyed you like a piece of meat for them to chew on. When you grow up like that, you’re bound to be a little messed up. Eddie understood that. He was the same way.

But with you, it was different. He didn’t want you to feel that way around him. The relationship hadn’t been going on for that long and was still fairly fresh, but he wanted you to trust him. And even dating might have been a stretch, you were just very good friends who weren’t very good friends with anyone else.

You liked Eddie, maybe even loved him, but there was no lying when it came to the fact you were struggling to connect with him. Could you really trust him? Was he just like the men from your childhood? Would he fuck you and ultimately leave once he got his full satisfaction? You’d cried yourself to sleep many of times during the night at the thought.

Sometimes you didn’t feel safe. Not with him, not with his friends. You only ever felt truly safe with Wayne. You didn’t know why. You hated the way you felt. Eddie was a good man. He was good to you. He had yet to do anything that proved otherwise. But the dark corners of your mind lingered closer and closer to the edge, reminding you of what once was your reality on the daily. You hoped this time it was different.

“I like this color on you.” Eddie’s tongue was stuck out in concentration, one hand holding your foot, the other holding the brush of the pink nail polish bottle. “It’s cute.”

“Pink?” You smirked. “You like pink?”

“On you.” His lashes fluttered up to you briefly.

The gesture was cute, but anytime he did something sweet like this you couldn’t help but think if he was luring you into a trap. Your stomach was littered with jitters and nerves. Day by day your anxiety was staring to become more out of control. You thought about ending things with him. It wasn’t fair to him to not give the relationship your all, but you couldn’t bring yourself to do it. You’d miss him dearly.

“Well, thanks.” You smiled softly. “I don’t like painting them by myself. The angle is too hard.”

He muttered a Mhm with his tongue out, blowing on your little toe so the pain would dry. “I used to paint my nails black when I was a teenager.” He said.

“Really?” You said amusedly. “Why’d you stop?”

“Got out of the habit, I guess.” He dipped the brush back in the bottle. “Plus, not that I cared, but kids at school were givin’ me shit about it.”

You knew Eddie had the same childhood you did, in some sense anyways. Eddie wouldn’t talk about it much, especially never about his mother. But his dad was something you knew struck a nerve. You should share your traumas together, that’s what you always told yourself. You knew you both could relate to one another, but the relationship was still too fresh. Maybe neither was ready for that.

“Want me to do your fingers?” Eddie asked, blowing on your last toe as he finished up his fine work. “I gotta say, babe, I did pretty good.”

You flexed your freshly painted toes and grinned at his work. “You did! Thank you.”

He put the bottle on the table and plopped down beside you on the couch, wrapping an arm around your shoulder. “So what now? What’s next on the spa list?” He smirked and you did the same, laughing breathily.

“I won’t make you succumb to all my girly stuff.” You laughed. “Anything I can do for you? Your hair looks like it needs brushed a little.”

“What?” He gave you an incredulous look. “I keep my hair very much maintained, thank you.”

“I didn’t say you didn’t, Eddie.” You rolled your eyes. “All I said was it needed brushed a little.”

You hopped up and got your plastic hairbrush from the bathroom, pointing at him with it when you returned. “Your turn to be pampered. Sit on the floor.”

He shook his head amusedly and sat down where you had, your legs falling at the sides of his shoulders as you gently began combing out his curls. He didn’t mean to, but he sighed in content.

“Feel good?” You gave a shit eating grin.

“You’re a-lot gentler than Wayne used to be.” He relaxed under your touch. “He always pulled at my hair and got it more ratted up than it already was. This feels good.”

You smiled at the mention of Wayne. “Well, I’ve got a woman’s touch, honey.”

“Yes, you do.”

It was quiet and peaceful for a while as you brushed his hair, the both of you content in the silence. When he touched your ankle, caressing it, your heart began to pound. You hadn’t had sex with him yet. You were too scared to. You knew it was time, it had been almost two months and you knew Eddie had long since been ready to sleep with you.

It wasn’t that you didn’t want to. You did. You fantasized about him just as much as he did you, but you were terrified of him leaving once you finally crossed that line. Out of instinct, you brought your legs up to you, sitting criss-cross like he was.

You heard him sigh and your stomach ached with guilt. You should give him what he wants.

“I’m sorry.” You say guiltily.

“You never let me touch you.” Eddie said flatly, staring at the ground as you continued to brush his hair. “And you won’t tell me why.”

Your eyes teared up and you stopped brushing, bringing it down to your lap. “I’m sorry.”

“That’s all you say.” He shook his head. “You don’t need to be sorry. You just need to tell me why I scare you so bad.”

“You don’t.” You denied, trying your hardest to convince him. When he said things like this, you felt foolish for thinking the way that you did. “It’s just- it’s- it’s just me.”

Eddie turned around, looking up at you to find you with tears in your face. “If it wasn’t true you wouldn’t be crying. Don’t I deserve the truth, Y/n? Have I don’t anything at all to make you scared of me?”

“No.” You sniffled, getting off the couch to go into the kitchen of his trailer. “You haven’t.”

Eddie watched you, becoming more and more anxious by the second. He sat there, waiting for his answer, anything but no. “Do you want to break up?”

“No!” You cried, shaking your head wildly. “No, that’s not what I want.”

“You don’t even like me, Y/n.” He scoffed to himself, closing in, becoming cold and shutting down. Something he hadn’t done in a long time. “You won’t open up to me. I can barely touch you. You look like you’re disgusted to be around me.”

“That’s not true!” You snapped, taking a step toward him. “Stop saying shit like that!”

“Then you say something for a change!” He argued back, not moving from his spot on the floor.

“But it’s so stupid!” You shook your head. “It’s ridiculous!”

He gave you a look. He was waiting and he wouldn’t back out this time. Either that, or he was going to break up with you. The thought made you want to vomit. Maybe you did care more deeply for him than you were letting on.

“We don’t talk about what happened when we were kids,” You sighed through tears, voice breaking. “We’re..both the same, but we don’t talk about it.”

Eddie’s eyes narrowed as you began, wondering after all, if he wanted to hear where you were going with this.

“Mom wasn’t around, so that left dad and his friends.” You stared at him, being as open and honest as you could now. There was no beating around the bush with this. “I…Jesus,” You shook your head, running a hand through your hair. “I didn’t know that it wasn’t normal at the time, but they’d…they’d use me.” You took a deep breath after the last word. No stopping now.

“They would play poker, touch me, rape me.” You weren’t crying anymore, talking mostly to yourself now at this point. “And I know you would never do that to me, Eddie, but sometimes I’m so afraid of it happening again and I just shut down.” You closed your eyes. “You touch me and I’m so afraid you’ll abandon me once we sleep together. That’s all anyone has ever done in my life.”

“Fuck me, then leave.” You sniffled. “That’s all they ever do.”

Eddie’s eyes were drooping, slightly narrowed and brows furrowed. He shook his head softly, you almost missed it, and you knew you’d made him at a loss for words.

He looked up to you briefly, licking his lips before he spoke. “There was this one guy my dad would deal for,” He began. “He was a big dude, almost seven foot. I was only thirteen. But dad would bring him into the house and he…would look at me. Just watch me wherever I went.” He stared at his hands, not daring to look at you.

“I think he payed dad.” His voice broke, but he refused to let any tears fall. “Because I screamed and screamed and he wouldn’t come.”

You let out an audibly gasp and covered your mask, your heart falling to the floor with a splat.

“Oh, god, Eddie,” You crawled to the floor and knelt beside him.

“It’s okay.” He stopped your apologies. “I didn’t tell you for you to be sorry for me. I told you because you need to know you’re not alone, and not everyone is out to get you. You’re safe with me. I want you to believe that.”

You let out a wet sob, tears rolling down your red face. “How do I stop being scared? I want to be with you.”

He smiled softly, a finger swiping at a tear. “We have all the time in the world for that, angel.”

You grabbed his arm and laid your head against his shoulder, sobbing like a broken child.

“Oh, baby,” He kissed your forehead. “Don’t cry.”

It would be a long road to recovery, but you could both do it together. Slowly, every day you would both open up to each other about what you went through, and day by day, it would get easier.

I have an angsty aventio idea that’s haunting me (also this one’s a lil dark, just a warning) imagine ratio at some point in the future telling aventurine that just because he’s been lucky so far, that doesn’t mean that his luck will *always* hold out, and tells him to stop putting so much faith into the fact that his luck never run out. And Aventurine, who is exhausted and having a bad day because otherwise he’d make a joke or just play it off, pulls out his gun again. And Ratio scoffs because they’ve already been through this, with Aventurine proving his luck by taking all but one bullet out. But to his shock, this time Aventurine only removes a single bullet. Before ratio can stop him, he spins the chamber and points it at his own head before pulling the trigger. Nothing happens. Then, without hesitating, he pulls the trigger once more, not even flinching as he stares Ratio directly in the eye. The gun jammed, and no bullets left the chamber. And aventurine tells him then, that he’s tested his luck like that more than once, always with the vague hope of getting to see his family again, but something like that happens every time. His luck genuinely prevents him from experiencing a *permanent* death before his time. And then he sees that this time, *Ratio* is the one that’s shaking, with genuine horror and fear in his eyes. (I just love the idea that aventurine is so ‘lucky’ that something will always stop his death, and I want Ratio to feel the gut wrenching fear of seeing aventurine fire a fully loaded gun at himself right in front of him. Ratio probably holds him close and tightly after that and refuses to let go for a long time)

My heart 😭😭😭 Ratio would be left so shaken up by this omg. Especially since his original demand obviously stemmed from his fear of losing Aventurine to his gambles! This is such an excellent concept and I love it!

Also, since my angst-addict brain somehow found a way to make it worse: Imagine an alternate scenario where Ratio understands what Aventurine is about to do and just cannot stand there and watch it happen, not when he could lose the one person he loves most. Panic overrides his mind and he tries to take the gun from Aventurine. In doing so, one of them accidentally pulls the trigger, but this time, the gun doesn't jam. Instead, the bullet hits Ratio. Horrified, Aventurine lets the gun fall to the floor and rushes to his side while the doctor's clothes start turning red with blood. The wound is not fatal, but still, it confronts Aventurine to the very thing that haunts him : the knowledge that his insane luck only protects him from harm, and not those he cares about. It would also force him to acknowledge just how attached he has gotten to Ratio, and he would be an absolute guilt-ridden wreck while waiting at his bedside after he got surgery, scared to death that he might not make it. Once Ratio wakes up, it's Aventurine who'd be the one unable to stop holding him.

Soph I love you but Taylor Swift does not “make herself the victim” there’s so much valid shit that has happened to her for us to feel that way about her, which most of her fans honestly don’t even see her as - granted there as some obnoxious ones but that goes for all fandoms.

Like for example of the experiences I was talking about.

- being sexually assaulted and then being called “greedy” for suing the guy.

- being painted as a “snake” because she didn’t react well to someone writing a misogynistic song about it. Which I feel like is a valid reaction as a woman in entertainment.

- being groomed at 19 by a 30+ something year old.

- getting called a snake worldwide for a narrative that 2 people - who were more famous than her at the time invented.

- being bodyshamed constantly when she had an eating disorder

Yes she’s privileged and has always been, coming from money and having fame, but she does not portray herself as the “victim” and the fact that people think she does just for standing up for herself makes me sad, not because of her but because being a woman myself it just paints the picture that women’s pain or experiences will always be brushed under the rug because we’re classified as “dramatic” and “we should take it with more grace” “be thankful about the good things” like??

I understand that you don’t like her but that assessment just seems wrong.

like i just. you realize you're proving my point right? like this - not just this message, but all of the ones i've gotten where people are waxing poetic about all of the struggles taylor swift has had and how she is absolutely a victim and how dare i suggest otherwise - is exactly what i'm talking about. you feel the need to jump down the throat of anyone who says anything remotely negative about her. this is the whole "victim" narrative, that she is vulnerable and must be protected and defended from all negativity at all times at all costs.

and like. that is on purpose. she has cultivated that narrative for this reason. so that publications are now afraid to post reviews of her albums with bylines because their journalists are getting death threats if they criticize her.

i am not suggesting that taylor swift has never had anything bad ever happen to her. that would be insane. i am trying to say that this culture that has been cultivated within her fanbase of defending and protecting her, is extreme and irrational. and when you don't buy into it, it makes a lot of the content surrounding taylor swift very hard to swallow.

Okay but can we get Angeal and Sephiroth fluff?

I don't know if this is fluff, but it's definitely "Two idiots that don't know they're in love" lmao.

• Angeal notices Sephiroth struggle while his hands are occupied, strands of hair falling into his eyes. Tentively, he moves behind him, reaching into Sephiroth's back pocket, where he knows his friend keeps a spare hair tie. Angeal gathers Sephiroth's hair at the nape of his neck gently, hoping his friend can't feel his breath on the back of his neck—spoiler: he can and it's entirely Angeal's fault that Sephiroth's skin is goose-flecked beneath his uniform. Once his hair is tied, Sephiroth thanks him. Angeal's finds his own "No problem" entirely ironic, because whatever the hell he feels pooling in his stomach is a problem.

• Angeal has this habit—annoying habit, according to Genesis—of holding a pen between his lips when he's engrossed in typing. Sephiroth finds it annoying too—annoyingly distracting. They're supposed to be going over assignment plans, but Sephiroth can't help but be distracted by the way Angeal rolls the pen between his teeth, sighing and stretching whenever he briefly breaks his concentration. Sephiroth can't concentrate, and half wishes Genesis were there to tell Angeal to "quit it."

Sephiroth realizes he's been staring when Angeal suddenly lifts his gaze, causing Sephiroth to hastily clamp his mouth shut with an embarrassingly audible click of his teeth.

• Angeal assists Sephiroth with an exercise during a training session that requires him to hold Sephiroth's waist. The proximity proves to be more distracting than helpful for both of them. Angeal tries to divert the attention from his red cheeks by commenting about how hot it is in the training room, and that maybe the air conditioning is broken. Meanwhile Sephiroth finds it impossible to concentrate when Angeal— shirtless and sweaty because the goddess doesn't help at a time like this—is gripping him firmly around the waist. Sephiroth thinks his mind is broken, because there is no way his mind is going in that direction right now.

• Angeal and Sephiroth's break falls on the same day, so they decide to have lunch at Sephiroth's place. Sephiroth helped Angeal cook, and afterward they find themselves sharing Sephiroth's bed.

Although neither of them is asleep, each pretends otherwise. Angeal lies awake, wondering whether Sephiroth's rolling over and burying his face into his neck was intentional. He wonders if what he's doing is wrong as his hand hesitantly trails down Sephiroth's bare back before curling around his waist. He steals glances at Sephiroth. He likes him when he's like this—his hair messily tied back, wearing nothing but pajama pants. Meanwhile, Sephiroth is wide awake, wondering why the hell Angeal's heart is beating so fast.

Marriage Imagine with the Milo's;

🐇 Pre-Milo 🐇

• Thanks to his job as a Chiropractor he sometimes will teasingly offer you a massage, mentioning how skilled he became with his hands

• If you do accept his offer be ready to have a blushing mess on your hand but you will get a very good massage (if you return the teasing during this he will take a break to hide his face) 

• Brings you little a little gift every week this ranges from flowers to your favorite  snacks, merch of of anime/bands/ect you like and ittle nick nacks that just reminded him of you

• He taught himself flower language to show his love and affectionate when he feels like his words aren’t enough

• When you have a bad day he will order some take out and put in your favourite movie while showering you in kisses. He will even put on some fake bunny ears if it would make you smile or laugh 

• Wears his wedding ring on a chain so he doesn't lose it, he will also fidget with it when nervous or just really misses you

• Both of the rings have a message on the inside, your ring has the message “Forever yours, even if we change” carved into it

• His Yandere tendencies will start showing more freely now that you can’t escape him, one of these includes having cameras in every plushy he made so he can watch you when he isn't home 

• Will hide Sticky notes with reminders how much he loves you around the house and in your pockets 

• Has grown a bit of a backbone but the second you call him the nickname you gave him or anything sweet really he returns to his old state of flustered bunny 

🐺 V-Milo 🐺

• One word; Househusband. He will stay at home and do all the chores; cooking, cleaning, taking care of the garden if you have one, guarding the home, ect

• Will run to the door when he hears footsteps in hope it's you, if he was right and its you he will pull you into a hug and give you a bunxh of welcome back kisses. If you playfully refuse or dodge his kisses he will let out some dog whines and follow you around 

• But if it wasn’t you then he will growl at the door and if anyone dares to knock at the door they will be met with a pissed off 6ft tall guy who’s already getting his loyal metal bat ready for a swing

• Makes you lunch for work and similar to Pre!Milo he will leave sticky notes on them with reminders of his love, if you had a rough morning he will also add an extra sweet treat  

• He sometimes adds a cute lil’ doddle on the back of it

• Instead of a wedding ring he has a dog tag on his collar with ‘Married to Y/N’ engraved on it and your wedding date 

• He lets you choose between a normal ring and a specially made armband that has a tracker built in it & a hidden knife for self defense of course. If you choose the ring he will implant a tracker on the back of your neck, otherwise he won't allow you to leave house unless he’s with you

• If you two need it  he will work as a Personal Coach, he will only meet up with his clients when you are at work though

• Took a stray dog in once and now you have a dog, he sometimes gets annoyed at it for taking your attention away from him

🐈‍⬛ M-Milo 🐈‍⬛

• Asks for (demands) good morning & goodbye  kisses and if he doesn't get them he will whine, act bratty and generally be more clingy then he usally is. You can easily fix this by simply giving in or pulling on his collar though that might just make him sweat in excitment…

• Background checked the place you work at and got some blackmail on the higher ups in case they  dare to try and mess with you

• Proudly tells everyone that you guys are married and shows off his wedding ring. He also branded a heart with your Initials right on top where his actual heart is to prove his devotion

• If you introduce him as your husband first though, he will be bouncing on the spot, he will also loudly purr loudly and sweat a bit

• On nights where you need a distraction, can’t sleep or anxiety is getting to you.  He will make up stories and fairy tales, he changes them up to whatever you need it to be; Comedy, Action, Romance, ect

• Loves to serenade to you and during especially soft moments he will grab your hand and lead you into a dance throughout whatever room you two are in

• Feeding you is his favourite thing to do and he will literally beg you to let him feed you, even if it's just desert. When you return the favor he just smiles back at you and says; “As sweet as this is, you’re still sweeter~” 

• Boop his nose to “restart” him, one boop will make him drop down into your lap and a second boop will habe him slowly get up with a ‘mrrp?~’

• Will wear Cat Ears and a Tail at home ifnyou ask him to. Just be warned that if you play/fidget with them he will act as if they were real and tease you 

• “Oh do you like them that much, love? Do you like the feeling of ears and how my tail curls around your fingers? Should I meow for you?~” 

• Makes every anniversary special by planning it all out, it starts with breakfast in bed and some kisses before he brings you to fancy restaurants or a day trips to a place you always wanted to go to. And to top it all off when you come home he will bride carry you to the bathroom for a relaxing bath and a massage. You won’t have to lift a finger on this day, he will take care of everything

Traffic Character Analysis - Cleo

Cleo is a survivor. She always has a plan B, a way out, a place to go when things get rough. Their trust is hard to earn, and incredibly easy to break, but it is deep and whole. When they make a commitment, she is in it for the long haul until something proves her otherwise. Cleo is not afraid to break ties the second things don’t sit right. Then revenge becomes their top priority. If she trusts someone wholeheartedly, she expects the same from them. Cleo wants to make people pay for betraying them, so much so that they are willing to go down with the ship if the person who wronged her is also on board. They like to make a statement, to show others that she is not to be messed with. But sometimes Cleo gets over confident, they assume things are going to go their way, and when they don’t the only person she has to blame is herself. It is not uncommon for Cleo to play all sides, to keep her guard up, to expect people to betray her. So they make sure they have a place to run away to. Because the thing that truly scares Cleo the most is being alone. While she has them, Cleo will do whatever it takes to keep her allies safe, even if that means keeping them safe from themselves.

I’m not sure if you’ve answered this yet, but are you planning on using the pirates in your TotK rewrite? I found them to be the perfect representation of everything that bugged me about the game (super interesting and thought provoking when you hear about them but kinda boring and uninspired in practice).

I really wanted Link to get a cool pirate outfit for beating them, or maybe unique weapons.

its not perfectly planned out yet since i have been working on different parts more, but the general idea is that it is a more proper band of pirates, more or less, i thought id connect it to tauro since he seems like he should play a way bigger role than he does, so my idea was to make it his sister or otherwise relative that leads the pirates, who thought that he was taken hostage/kidnapped or some other missunderstanding that leads to them sailing to the fishing village (lurelin in english? its anglestedt in german which is like, it means fishingtown xD) and taking it over in their search for him, so not just destroyed but made into a fortress, when you go there it could be some sneaking mission like in ww but i hate sneaking so that is still just a rough idea-

there could be a miniboss of the second in command that then tells you the captain made the island jotwerde (where the nakey challenge is in botw) their hiding spot/main base and it leads to you dueling with the captain since she doesnt listen to you unless you prove yourself and afterwards tells you why they are here and you are like .. I KNOW THE GUY! but they probably dont believe you so you go back to kakariko and tell Tauro, who didnt know what was happening (maybe he jsut forgot to write her bc he was so focused on work and she then assumed something must have happened and went feral bc shes like that), and he goes and settles it, afterwards they stay in both places but dont occupy it anymore and you can go and refight the captain if you want bc shes cool and i like fighting things that are more than just monsters that go and explode afterwards

i know this isnt as thought out and well working as some of the other stuff i have done so far but again, its a rough idea and wanted to connect it to another NPC we know

bro, BABY DADDY SATORU where he's pining to get you back, but you've been talking to this single dad (toji) and your kids just get along so well (you probably met bc of the kids, maybe they go to the same preschool or something) so you're spending more time w/him and you feel something there, you feel like this may be your chance to finally move on from satoru. but satoru sees little snippits and glimpses of you and toji together, like coming to pick up your kid from the park, you and toji are there laughing away as the kids play on the playground, and satoru is just fuming seeing you laugh and smile at his old rival. so satoru ramps up his doting baby-daddy ways, trying to show you without actually saying it but he wants you back bad, even more now that toji is in your life. his confidence and ego aren't used to taking a hit like this and it drives him MAD. but toji, i could see him only being moderately interested, or even worse, doing it just to get on satoru's nerves because he could use the entertainment. sure toji likes your company, but he doesn't want anything serious. until he finds himself getting more and more competitive for your attention. satoru trying to get you back (playing the long game, easing you into it) at the same time you and single dad toji are hitting it off. toji spends more time with his son now that he knows a hot mom is around watching him, and he’s got no idea the baggage you have with your baby daddy. not that he minds a little competition.

like you said sid, he gets competitive and he does it to get on sato’s nerves. god it’s all so juicy. satoru uses any opportunity to hammer it in that he was the one that got you pregnant, and toji loves to remind him how much more active he is in sato’s son’s life than satoru ever was. toji’s helping your kid make arts and fucking crafts just to prove a point.

toji’s also more accessible to you. he’s a freelancer in work, his ex is the breadwinner so toji spends a lot of time with megumi who spends time with your son etc it all works out. whereas satoru has responsibilities that free up every other weekend for his son. it boils his blood that he can’t be there more often to keep an eye on you when toji’s so obviously preying on your isolation and loneliness. cant you see he’s just trying to protect you? no other personal stake in it ofc.

Do you think starting lineup come November would be Kaitlyn-Azzi-Paige-Ice-Jana?

I’m assuming here that we likely don’t pick up a big from the portal but am still hopeful.

Also, I actually think Azzi will prolly be back by the start of the season, though maybe on restricted minutes for the first month. I just feel like the way they’ve spoken about her rehab and how she’s way ahead of schedule and the fact that this tear wasn’t as severe as the one in high school, which she got cleared from that one after just 9 months. I think she gets medically cleared Sept or early Oct at the latest, plays restricted minutes in November to ease her back in and build her endurance up again before being fully back in December. Of course I want her to take as much time as she needs and make sure she’s 200% first but yeah just the way her rehab seems to be tracking, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if she’s already named in the starting lineup come the first game.

i think you’re probably right about that recovery timeline tbh, but even a minutes restriction means a limited backcourt. i’m j so worried about something else happening if she doesn’t take the most time possible - paige’s knee was feeling good and she was way ahead of schedule, but she still decided to elongate her recovery process just to make sure. that’s prolly bc she had the time considering the timing of everything, but it’s clear how much stronger taking all that time made her.

that’s a good starting lineup, i’d put paige at the 3 too, and i need aubrey with extended minutes once she’s healthy. i wanna put aubrey in there because she is just so damn consistent and reliable but starting her when she gets back is not an option. fucking with the starting lineup has just been so hard for everyone in the past - the texas game this past season is proof of that.

i do like this lineup tho, i think ice has proved that she deserves a spot in that first string and honestly i feel safer with her in the post. my only issue is that with kaitlyn and paige on the floor at the same time, kk is the only option to come in for kaitlyn.

obviously she’s a great option, and if kk’s on the floor she’s going to be surrounded by vet presence. i’m just hesitant to start kaitlyn, if i’m deadass. she’s obviously very very good, but i’m j hella concerned where that leaves the rest of the lineup in terms of subs.

It was also about convincing Aziraphale that heaven was capable/willing to change, to see and welcome different perspectives! I really wanted to focus on how Steve's parents are abusive in a way that is a lot harder to clock.

They're not out there screaming and kicking him out of the house. These people want you to like them, and they lie like they breath.

These are the adults who downplay serious issues, who make you doubt yourself, who smooth things over or even apologize on your behalf as a way to control and isolate you.

If everyone thinks you're terrible, and your amazing, doting, angelic parents are once again swooping in to save you, then your escape routes close up rapidly--which is of course, the whole point. They want their victims to rely on them and them alone.

For a lot of the Party, that's just not an evil they've encountered yet.

Throw in the fact that Steve does in fact, have a head injury, and things get muddy FAST.

It makes for delicious, angst-ridden scenarios and I am delighted everyone's happy to come along for the ride.

#its not as obvious in part one #but Steves brain injury does come into play a lot more in part two #t I gave Steve my own traumatic brain injury so hes just having a blast on all fronts #and you can see it more when both parts are together but he IS struggling to explain himself. (another) Thing that annoys me about the Cap movies: 

We never got to see the scene where Steve & Co found out about the torture and mind-control used on Bucky. 

Because that should’ve been super important!

It would have vindicated Steve’s faith in him, proved Bucky’s victimhood and innocence, and turned Nat and Sam 100% around on whether or not Bucky was worth helping (whether or not it was worth them apparently wasting years of their lives helping Steve to find him). 

They’re supposed to have been: 

A) hunting down the remains of Hydra for years, 

B) familiarising themselves with all the Hydra info Nat dumped at the end of of CATWS, and 

C) hunting for Bucky-related information specifically amongst all that. 

Meaning they absolutely cannot have avoided finding, for example, all the places Bucky was tortured in, the specialised enhanced torture equipment (impossible to mistake for that used on a non-supersoldier), cells he was held in, all the specialised physical restraints, tailored for an enhanced person with a cyborg arm, documentation of his torture, witness testimony from surviving Hydra mooks at the Triskelion, etc., and seeing it firsthand. 

And for some of that time, they know Hydra had access to a magic mind-control stick, courtesy of Loki, and an enhanced person who can control minds (Wanda). 

So even if Steve didn’t find evidence of Bucky’s mind-control early on in his search, he and Natasha definitely do know that mind-control is possible (especially Natasha, given her roots in the Red Room and the fact that her bff was mind-controlled.)

Even if you ignored Nat and Sam’s personal backstories, which preclude both of them from being dismissive of a victim (a veteran who suffered a fall, a mind-controlled Russian ‘assassin’), it doesn’t make sense for Nat and Sam to still be trying to suggest Steve step back from helping Bucky, the way they do in CW. 

They cannot still be ignorant of what was done to Bucky, when they have been specifically investigating what was done to Bucky, and all that information has to have been impossible for them to avoid! 

Instead of which, the movie just skips right over the reveal to Steve and Sam of the mind control (going straight from ‘scene of mind-control’ to ‘scene of Steve being skeptical (which he shouldn’t and wouldn’t be)’ to ‘scene of talking about trigger words already’). Casually implying that either Steve and Sam already knew about it, or that Bucky has just explained it to them... 

But only off-camera. 

And yet, Sam is still salty and scornful of Bucky’s innocence (even when they have just seen mind-control happening, Bucky is suffering amnesia of WS acts in front of him, apparently just told him about mind-control, and then proves that he has his pre-war memories). 

So they imply the content of skipped scenes but then have characters act in ways that are... irrational, given the skipped content?? 

Makes no damn sense!

Sort of a distant tangent off my post about Ashton, but I'm growing more and more suspicious of the fandom claim that there's no time for small RP moments in Campaign 3. I do think that it's been challenging to get deeper party bonding or serious conversations that aren't about the big philosophical questions they're facing, since those do take much more time; but then I think about Calamity, or Candela Obscura. I can genuinely give you at least a couple paragraphs about pretty much every relationship in the two Circles, or in the Ring of Brass. I can also point to no shortage of small moments between characters in the Mighty Nein Aeor or Vox Machina Vecna endgame episodes, which were all extremely plot-heavy and fast-paced, and D20 consistently nails character relationships in a fraction of the time.

I think it really does come down to, as Brennan Lee Mulligan always says, the character creation phase. Laying down a solid groundwork in which everyone has a detailed, rich backstory and sense of personality and relationship history (in the case of characters who knew each other prior to the start of the series) is absolutely crucial, and even in the case of characters who don't know each other before going in, a good amount of time spent in character creation ensures that it's easier for them to develop those interpersonal relationships on the fly. I know in actual play there's some degree of finding the character as you play, but there are games for which there is a very short runway, and I don't think it ever hurts to do more extensive character prep than the bare minimum. And if there are gaps, I think it also helps to go back and fill those in mid-way, away from the table - Travis clarifying Chetney's backstory being a great example that allowed the history of Chetney and Deanna to feel realized and full, despite only a few episodes.

I'll also be blunt: most of the time when people complain that there aren't moments because the plot keeps moving...they're mad about shipping. Which has always rung hollow to me. It was a common complaint in C2, that no time was taken for character relationships, despite them taking an entire half of an episode for the Beauyasha date and despite no shortage of moments for all three of the other couples (and plenty of platonic moments between friends). The issue was never a lack of time; it was that the characters they wanted to talk to each other didn't actually have the relationship in canon that the fans had dreamed up, and so, when the chips were down, they went to other people.

It takes two seconds to say something like "I hold their hand", even in the middle of plot-heavy adventuring. If someone doesn't say it, it's rarely the GM rushing them; it's the player either choosing not to do so, or not remembering to do so, and either of those is quite revealing regarding how the player feels about that relationship and where it stands in their priorities.

#i've felt this for a while but like. fundamentally? C3 is just...uniquely not set up for terribly satisfying shipping #even the ships I do like and that get small moments are relatively background #like 80% of quote unquote ship content is like. fanon goggles overlaying either parallel play or standard battle mechanics #which is fine! I think it's a different vibe and approach than the past 2 campaigns #i think especially in character creation; self-insert or easy for new players (c1) #followed by Morally Gray Campaign; Prove We Can Replicate This Success; Serious Characters (C2); followed by Let's Get Silly With It (C3) #which is less conducive to that profound connection of c1 or c2. which is not a bad thing! #but god. if you complain about the D&D show having too much d&d plot and not enough romance...yeah pal it's d&d not a dating sim #like I enjoy when there is romance in my fantasy but it's not a requirement. there is a genre full of romance. it is called romance. #i'm also thinking about this bc I need to watch wot s2 but i've been told that the fandom has gotten weird #like wow so moiraine/siuan is not the A plot? in a high fantasy Good vs. Evil series?
