i know it’s a popular idea, but i don’t think i can ever really be on board with the idea of lovelace having some big post-canon revenge tour. like, i can appreciate the catharsis of a good revenge narrative in other contexts, don’t get me wrong, but given the themes of wolf 359 as a show, and particularly the values lovelace expresses in her own character arc, i can’t see it as anything other than a tragic regression into the exact type of person she chose not to become.
“the whole epic rampage of revenge thing? isabel lovelace wouldn't do that. the terrible wretch that you people made isabel lovelace into? oh, she'd do that. but... i’m not going to be that person anymore. i’m going to be isabel lovelace again. even if i never have before.”
twice near the end of s3 hilbert calls lovelace isabel, sees in her some shared experience and reflection of himself and his willingness to do whatever it takes, by any means necessary, but he fails to realize that what he recognizes is the result of trauma inflicted on her largely by him. hilbert is a constant reminder of what lovelace has lost and what’s been done to her, and in some sick way that makes him the last link to her past. they both die, and she comes back, and he doesn’t, and she decides to be isabel lovelace again. i don’t think that’s a coincidence.
wolf 359 as a show seems to believe in the futility of revenge - all of dirty work, “and then what? who pays for this? who owns up for this murder? and for the one after this one?” - and places its faith instead in the power of individuals to break cycles of violence and abuse. and i think that’s relevant to the wording of lovelace’s final lines in the show: “look up some old friends, take apart goddard futuristics brick by brick... maybe go to disneyland? but first, i’m going to take a long vacation, somewhere warm and quiet, where nobody has any idea who i am.”
lovelace feels a sense of duty in dismantling goddard and holding them to account, but it’s a world away from the all-consuming ire and drive for revenge “run and hide” contained. i think that’s where the focus should be. it’s not about hurting the people who hurt her, not anymore. it’s about preventing them from hurting anyone else. it’s a final act of love and closure for the people she couldn’t save, to say: i’m still here. i remember you. i’ll make sure your families know the truth. i’ll make sure they never hurt anyone else, ever again. i can’t bring you back, but your deaths won’t be in vain.
i think it’s important to emphasize that lovelace is NOT a violent person. she doesn’t want to be. she doesn’t enjoy it. whatever she may have been driven to by fear and trauma and desperation, she chooses to be isabel lovelace, and that’s not the person isabel lovelace is. i hope she does help take goddard down. structurally. brick by brick. and then i hope she lives a good, peaceful, happy life, in the memory of all her loved ones who couldn’t. like minkowski in boléro: “so that we never forget how important it is that we're still here.”

it's so funny to me that the princess our culture associates fundamentally with passivity offers credos which are among the most active and powerful of any in the fairytale canon
first and foremost, cinderella communicates that we all are what we contribute.
cinderella saves the mice and fosters an environment of collaboration, harmony, and unity that's harbored by her own industrious nature. mind you, she does all of this against her stepfamily's wishes, actively defying them, and creating a counterculture in the process.
as the story team intended the animals to be a reflection of their human counterpart, notice how cinderella's kindred are uniformly hardworking, intentionally kind, and approach every situation with their best foot forward, adapting a problem-solving mindset that collectively aids them all in their shared progression toward the betterment of themselves and the world around them. take the very first scene in which we see cinderella and the culture she's created, for instance:

everyone has a hand in the first chores of the day and they're all choosing to do it with a smile on their face. key word: choosing. because this isn't an idly happy lot whose joy is an accident of their own nature or something that's easy. their happiness is something they have to be mindful of and, in many cases, fight against themselves to achieve. because, guess what? their life is terrible. they've been reduced to living in a dusty attic room of a decaying house. many of them were saved from death by cinderella, herself, and know that if they venture too far outside of the safe quarters she's provided, or if they allow themselves to be seen in some way, they'll be back at death's doorstep. the danger and stress they live under would cause anyone to snap, or anyone to never want to get out of bed, which is why we see them looking like this in one of the most relatable openings of all time:

the birds literally have to force her to wake up, initially:

and once she does wake up, she's playful and pleasant and kind, yes. but that doesn't last long- the clock immediately tries her by reminding her of the daily toil she must face in order to maintain the food and shelter that's tantamount to, not only her own survival, but that of this tiny community that she's the unofficial mayor over and continues to be responsible for. she has to sustain herself and the others she's collected around her by choosing to live life the way she does. this kindness is something she has to pay for, every day. and she physically snarls at being reminded of the hand life's dealt her:

and you know what? that's a very human quality that everyone can identify with in some regard because it's hard, even if you are someone who loves life and the people around you, to keep going in spite of the challenges you face. being positive, plainly put, is something that's difficult and you have to keep reengaging yourself to be because it isn't a natural state for most people, and especially not people that have been treated as unkindly as cinderella. let's not forget that she lost both of her parents at a young, formative age, and from that time in her youth when, like all other children, she deserved to be supported and loved and protected, she was literally "abused, humiliated" and "forced" into being a literal "servant in her own house." she had no security- both of her parents were gone, she had no money to fall back on, no education, no means with which to leave the house, and to try to get a job in that world and environment- as unlikely as it would've been to obtain in the first place (which, again is so relatable- look at the staffing shortages and people struggling to find employment today)- would've been contingent upon references of some sort, and we all know that lady tremaine definitely would've either a) ran a smear campaign against cinderella to absolve herself and the family name of any personal fault or b) prevented cinderella from ever leaving in the first place so that no one would ever know that atrocities the tremaines forced her to endure from the time she was practically an infant.
she wakes up after barely being able to sleep, probably, due to all the daily chores she must, alone, accomplish to keep an entire estate afloat. everyone is depending on her, from the stepfamily to the mice to the grounds of her family's home itself. her body's practically aching from the lack of rest, the physical work she's forced to do every day, from sleeping on such an uncomfortable bed. the only place she feels remotely safe is in this drafty attic, which smells of fraying wood and aging artifacts and is in a constate state of decay, with weeds growing in the sides of the tower. that's not even mentioning the emotional turmoil, the ptsd, the grief, the neglect, the physical abuse she's also processing at any given moment
so, yeah, cinderella snaps. and there are times she snaps later on in the film but she always reels herself in and consciously makes the choice to never succumb to her circumstances. this is what makes cinderella extraordinary. she singlehandedly- and actively- ends the cycle of abuse through the behavior and choices she partakes in every single day.
and, again, this isn't something that's easy for someone who has been in survival mode for a majority of their life. but the conscious choices, active efforts, and mindful decisions cinderella makes is what frees the household from that cycle of abuse continuing. i mentioned earlier that the animals are supposed to be a parallel to their human counterparts. remember how we meet gus? he's just been caught in a trap, doesn't have anything to wear, and is literally recoiling in fear. due to his terror and his own need to defend himself out of instinct, he attempts to make himself come off as threatening as possible and is ready to pop off the minute that jaq approaches him:

but, through cinderella's influence, she's able to give him hope once more. she treats him warmly, pairs him up with a buddy to go through life with, comes up with a name- and even a nickname- for him, gives him a community, a safe haven, and clothes him. in that short time, look at the difference she's made in his mood, his demeanor, even his approach to life:

and it isn't just the mice cinderella's this way with. in the opening slides, we see cinderella holding an adorable puppy dog. but as the film progresses, and the narrator details the despair the family estate has fallen into, that puppy dog turns into an old, starved bloodhound who's secretly sleeping on the floor of the cold kitchen to keep from freezing to death. he has to keep even his dreams to himself so as to not be heard by the stepfamily and potentially kicked out. he openly hates lucifer but cinderella encourages him to think of lucifer's good points too, even if she can't think of any herself, to be able to continue successfully cohabiting this environment with him. and when he pounces on lucifer, deserved or not, she puts an end to this:

because cinderella knows what will ever happen if bruno allows himself to give into his impulses, to treat others as life has treated him, to attempt to retaliate in an impossible environment when the odds are already against you. you'll harm yourself the most and perpetuate that cycle.
but, just as bruno is a reflection of cinderella, notice how gleeful lucifer is in falsely incriminating bruno, so that another being who's never wronged him will be unjustly punished and suffer:

this is what separates cinderella from the tremaines. this is why she is the heroine and they will never be, despite how many people you see empathizing with how unfairly life must've treated them for being the "conventionally unattractive" characters in the film, or for having a single mother which to them denotes less resources, or for being awkward, or for whatever other reason of the month they're being rewritten to be the victims.
if we are the sum of our contributions, the tremaines are nothing and that is definitely a reflection of their reality. they only feel alive when they're making fun of cinderella or humiliating her by continuing that cycle of abuse they passively adhere to and never challenge. remember how we met cinderella and her friends, gathering their spirits and putting on a smile, despite how hard it is with the troubles that face them? how they look past that to work together and try to change life for the better?

the tremaines can't be bothered to get out of bed. the truly passive, lazy characters, they grog about in dim rooms, turning around in their fine silks and ornate finery, while a being they literally enslaved is being forced to do their bidding. and they refuse to actively participate in their very charmed and privileged life. they can't even find a reason to be happy- but instead are upset when cinderella enters their room. they want to know why she's taken so long, to hurry up, to continue to wait on them, hand and foot. when she asks them how they're doing, they grumble, "as if you care." because they don't care about anyone else, so why would others care about them? and that type of apathy breeds resentment, which- in the wake of such sedentary creatures- seeks manifestation and results in destruction. the stepsisters get out of their comfortable beds only when they have the opportunity to point their finger at cinderella, to get their mother to punish her. again, they feel alive by inflicting pain on others, it's literally what gets them out of bed:

as cinderella nears lady tremaine's bed, her stepmother's eyes blaze with fury, hatred plain on her face:

lady tremaine doesn't move, her hand only lifting to stroke lucifer, who has the biggest grin on his face. meanwhile, the desperation is evident in cinderella. she isn't quite defeated, because she does stick up for herself three times in the scene. but she's tired of this. she's tired of being tormented by her only family, of having the odds stacked against her even when she's doing everything in her power to live as peacefully and productively as possible, of being forced to fight a losing battle that will never result in peace but will only further prompt hatred, and division, and anger. in her expression, there's almost a plea for lady tremaine:

it isn't until she sees cinderella's expression, she hears cinderella try to explain what happened, that she livens up. because she has the opportunity to, again, keep that cycle of abuse alive, to actively try to destroy cinderella's quality of life and to profit off the position of power she's in over cinderella. look at the difference in lady tremaine's expression in the previous cap, and in this one, when she believes she's silenced cinderella and is preparing to tear into her:

one of the best instances through which i can further illustrate this ideology (you are what you contribute) is in a later scene, where we see the stepsisters discard their fine wares, labeling it trash and flinging the luxuries life's afforded them to scorn. it's nothing to them.

yet, to the mice and cinderella, it isn't nothing. because, remember, the royal proclamation declared that every eligible maiden should attend. at first, the stepmother refuses to let cinderella go and even the stepsisters brush her aside with classist comments. when cinderella sticks up for herself by reminding them she's still a member of the family, and by trapping them in the language of the royal decree "every eligible maiden," lady tremaine has no choice but to consent- on the grounds that cinderella is able to make herself eligible through producing a suitable dress. because, remember, cinderella isn't seen as a person. she's seen as subhuman, someone who's reduced to wearing tatters and isn't seen as a person in the eyes of their society unless she has social indicators of wealth via her clothing, in this specific instance. drizella and anastasia never have to think about that, because they exist as people of value in their society due to their good fortune that they had no part in creating. they don't know what it's like to be laughed at, to not be considered eligible or even a person in the eyes of society the way that cinderella's lived experience has reflected since her father died. meanwhile, the tremaines are so deep in their own privilege, that they're literally waving it around like it's a rag and carelessly tossing it away. yet, what does cinderella do, with much less?

cinderella makes do with what little she has, always to help someone else. and because of this active kindness, it changes the mindset of those around her. since she's afforded this to so many of the mice, what do they do for her in return?

what a difference in how cinderella and the stepfamily approaches what's, essentially, the same material? and this community that cinderella has established and continually maintained and influenced comes to each other's aid, time and time again. whether it's cinderella freeing the mice from death, or giving them clothing, or allowing bruno to sleep inside unbeknownst to the stepfamily, or the mice turning into a LITERAL army and battleground in cinderella's honor:

again, this community is just as active and vital as cinderella, herself, is. because those values i mentioned earlier, of helping one another and rising above your circumstances and working together, aren't just whimsical morals cinderella sings about. they're constant behaviors she's actively taking part in and impact the household they all share, to the point where when they help each other take action when the time is right. they're constantly conferring with one another on how to best use their community and the resources this offers to get closer to victory. (meanwhile, the stepfamily is only for themselves; anastasia and drizella literally repeatedly hit each other and compete, even to the point of giving conflicting stories to the grand duke that makes their pathetic attempt seem all the more discreditable at alleging they were the princess at the ball the night before) we see it in how cinderella and her friends accomplish their chores together, in how the mice plan to get her dress remade while she's busy, even in how cinderella's quick thinking leads to calling upon bruno, who must be awoken by the birds with an interjecting call from the horse, and how this leads to all of their escape:

because, this community also knows when it to fight and support one another in times of battle and when the goal will bring about a victory that will ultimately reign peace; they know when it's worth it for a shared goal and the benefit of all parties involved. and the difference cinderella brought into that household is what gave them all glory and helped them, not only survive, but succeed. it isn't just the poor scullery maid we see ascend in the closing chapter of the film. we see the same bluebirds who attempted to wake her up in the beginning of the film holding her wedding veil:

we see those same mice that she nursed from death, and clothed, and fed, and loved; the mice that risked their lives in remaking her deceased mother's dress so that cinderella might, too, have a chance to go to the ball; they're still here, cheering her on and throwing rice in blessing at the happy couple, their own clothing being upgraded to reflect that of the royal staff:

we see that starved bloodhound and the old horse leading the royal regiment, as beautiful and shining and proud as their majestic counterparts:

and this is the world that cinderella, as a character, offers. not a world in which multiple parties are at competition with one another over who's the prettiest, or the wealthiest, or where hatred breeds continual hatred. but she presents us a world in which everyone deserves to be seen, heard and valued; where everyone can find a community they can contribute to and have purpose in and be worthy of experiencing love, whatever you determine love to be whether it's romantic or in the form of a found family.

You are young honestly! It'll be 3 years before you are even 30! Honestly most people find lasting love in their 30s or even later!! Plenty of people get a divorce in their 40s-50s and still find more people to share their life and love with! Some people in their 80s are still out there discovering new love after the death of a spouse!!
It's natural to have lost and loved the first "round" of people in your 20s (though ofc some people haven't gotten there yet, either the loving or the losing part), but it rarely lasts into the rest of your life, because the 20s are where we start to learn who we are.. so it's rare to find that everyone ended up growing in the same directions.. and often there are more toxic patterns in the relationship from both ends that have stuck around from when you didn't know who you wanted to be in a relationship etc etc. Generally, the newer "generations" of relationships are healthier than the older. Generally. Ofc there are a few rare examples of "high school sweethearts" who met when they're 17-21 and stay together for life, but it's so rare and often it can be rather toxic bc it ends up being based on thinking you couldn't do better or being afraid to try something else/not knowing who you are outside the context of the other person, and people get stuck in those types of relationships bc it's all they've ever known and they don't know if they can handle a breakup.
So like I don't mean it condescendingly but as someone in my late 30s who also lost "the love of my life" in my late 20s..twice.. I want to say in a fucked up way it can be a good thing. It teaches you that you can handle the loss, that you can get through that kind of a breakup. And that means you'll be way less likely to ever stick it out with someone who's not good for you in the future. And now you get to go out and slowly build up your circle again (it takes time.. be patient, they are out there).. and this time you have real, long-term relationship experience to build your choices and behaviour on ... To build a healthier, more stable relationship of tomorrow.
I wish you the best and hope this didn't come across wrong.. it's just things I think I could've used to hear back when I was younger..
No you're right honestly! I mean obviously none of the people who came and left in the last decade were the right people for me. And even though that hurts, I'm glad I was pushed to realize this and to want and wait for more. Because honestly speaking none of them actually turned out to be that great

I think people tend to ignore Leon fucking up (like with Shen May), because they have the mindset of "oh no, that's my favourite character! So he can't do anything wrong or have any flaws!" It's such a limiting way to think. I mean, I really like Leon too, but I'll openly say that he often gives me the fucking ick, lmao. The Shen May scene had me recoiling. Man's a stereotype of "that creepy guy at the bar" and he exudes that a LOT. I'm glad he was turned down. Even the characters we love need to be humbled when they're full of shit, because it's realistic and interesting. It's okay to think outside of the caveman "he good! no bad!"
Also, tacking on, because despite it being a different topic, I may as well stick to a singular ask. Jilleon is such a weird concept to me, lmao. I think for the most part it's treated pretty lightheartedly, but I'm confused because I couldn't really identify where it came from, other than that they're both attractive. I love Jill, but I don't see her reciprocating any attraction. Like, remotely. They get along fine, but I can't even see a close friendship. Maybe I'm biased though, cause I love her and as much as I enjoy Leon, dear god above he doesn't need another love interest. Also Capcom please just grow your balls and properly address Valenfield. We all know they're either a couple or have been pining for several decades.
I'm not gonna lie, if OG Leon asked me out, I'd have told him I had a boyfriend, too. Or maybe just even told him I wasn't interested in men all together. His approach is so... old-fashioned in a bad way. It's evidence that his development was arrested in 1998; he hasn't matured past that point, so he thinks that it's still a thing to just go up to a cute girl and ask for her number right after getting her name.
So like. I'm not surprised that it's pretty much exclusively early 20s and younger ppl who don't think he's trying to ask her on an actual date, because no one does that shit anymore. That was already out of fashion by the time I was in high school, even, and I entered high school in 2003.
But for any tiny childrens who are reading this: yes this is literally how relationships would start in the 80s and 90s. Out of nowhere and on a whim between complete strangers and just hoping it works.

Prior to Death Island, I would have agreed with you. 100% I didn't understand what the basis for it was, and I didn't think she'd be interested in him at all.
Then I watched Death Island. And I'm 85% sure that they've already slept together LMAO Chris dropped the ball between RE5 and DI, and Leon just kind of slid in there and took his shot and actually seems to have made it???
If I'm not mistaken, Jill is the only person other than Remake Ashley in the entire series who actually laughs at Leon's jokes. And she actually gets him to laugh out loud in return -- which is almost unheard of for him.
They just seem very comfortable around each other in general. Jill seems more at ease in his presence than she's been in Chris's since... Lost in Nightmares? And Leon is definitely more comfortable being with her than he is being with Ada or Claire. Like, Jill seems as comfy as a presence for Leon as Chris and Ashley are.
I just really like their dynamic in general. I don't think of them as romantic, but I see them as very, very good friends who just fuck every once in a while.
Like, Chris is still Leon's best friend, but their relationship is a lot more intense. But Jill is the person that Leon first thinks to call when he needs to nerd out about movies or to just bullshit in general. And then every so often, a text message conversation happens like:
"Gonna be in DC for a weekend for BSAA shit. Pick me up from the airport?"
"Sure. What hotel?"
"Staying with a friend actually idk if you know him. Leon Kennedy? In the DSO. Brown hair, blue eyes, giant cock?"
"Never heard of him. Sounds like he's in for a fun weekend though."

Do you think Taylor and Alec's relationship would meaningfully change if she was able to recognize the similarities between them instead of doing her best to rationalize how different they are?
the more notable thing about this scenario is that it would mean she would accidentally experience self-awareness and probably subsequently have some form of brief mental crisis over her behavior + well of unaddressed emotional issues before going "oh well i have other things to deal with can't stop now haha" and tamping the self-awareness and well of unaddressed emotional issues back down to resume bug-eyeing people. but outside of that i think she would start experiencing some sense of, like, self-loathing solidarity with alec over both being people who do really fucked up things due to problems & issues.
meanwhile alec is fine with doing terrible things if necessary but generally considers his other teammates to be more moral than him + is generally trying to be better not worse. so his initial perception of taylor is "dork whos a better person than me and also smart and works hard (meaning i can listen to her/let her do all the work as leader while i chillax)" and then he watches her skid downhill at 1000mph seemingly actively TRYING to be worse and he's like. Uh. Are you sure. Aren't you supposed to tell me mutilation and torture is bad. while totally oblivious to the fact that she feels any solidarity with him. and she's oblivious to the fact that he's oblivious.
like i think she would go on a one-sided conversational rant with him about how they've both been driven to do terrible things but that's just how the cookie crumbles so it's time to take bakuda's life advice and cut this dude's eyes out. while he's following absolutely none of it but still nodding and going "uh huh i guess we can cut his eyes out if you're sure" because he doesn't care enough to inform her that he has lost the fucking plot.
also you know how lisa is trying to manipulate-fix taylor and taylor is trying to manipulate-fix rachel. i think taylor might try to do what she does to rachel to him as well a little bit and it would not work. at all. like she does Get On Rachel's Level, and it works, but it's distinctly in a way where she knows far more about rachel than rachel knows about her, and she's using that information to speak in her language while still treating the whole thing like kind of a puzzle? she has to put effort into being on rachel's level. that wouldn't work for alec, you have to manage a level of really genuine flippancy 2 connect w/ him, and that's why aisha is the only undersider he actually rlly bonds with. you have to already Be on his level. so taylor would try to actively calculate her approach to socializing with him and it would just soar over his head + vaguely annoy him.
conclusion: she wouldn't be all "HEEEY ALEC [leans on counter] JUST WONDERING WERE YOU PLANNING ON TURNING INTO YOUR RAPIST DAD YOU FUCKING HATE?" like she does in canon (easily one of the top ever taylor socially oblivious moments) but they would still not b friends. he would carry on feeling vaguely positively about her from a distance and she would carry on not getting him but, like, in a nicer and less judgmental way than canon. i don't actually think there's any plausible scenario in which they're friends. closer teammates than in canon, sure, but not friends.

Cautus Subrace: Jackrabbit
The Jackrabbits aka Sandbuns evolved to live in the deserts of Sargon. But compared to the mining lands of Rim Billiton many changes to buns usually speedy and quick-footed happened. Much like the Vouivres, Sand Cautus are incredibly tanky and tough. They can't tank point bomb blasts like a certain gunlance wielding Vouivre though. What they do have in exchange for that kind of endurance is stamina. They can traverse nearly the entire desert (or all the way depending on physical fitness).
Their metabolisms have adapted to help them endurance brutal desert climate but because they're cautus they still require calories and water slightly quicker than Vouivres. However, they are still Cautus. The Sand Cautus can move at incredibly fast speeds when they want to get to shelter fast. Also, because they're still Cautus they can burrow underground in case of emergencies or needing to hide.
The Jackrabbits possess a form of arts that allows them to turn solid rock into sand and use it to make favorable terrain for themselves. In addition they also can solidify sand to make tunnels when they dig underground. Most of the Jackrabbits do have underground burrows/homes since it makes them feel more comfortable than being battered by the wind and sandstorms. Lastly some of them have been learning how to creature sand constructs and even hardened sand shields or shells.
The Jackrabbits are somewhat stronger than the ordinary Cautus but they pride themselves on their geological knowledge. They are masters at making maps and guiding lost travelers out of the desert via their underground tunnel systems. They also have a keen sense of direction that is amplified in any area where sand is present.
Most of the Jackrabbits work in tight-knit mercenary groups even though their upright bunny ears sometimes make it hard for people to take them seriously. Others moved to Columbia and Lungmen to work in the tech field or become LGD officers. By nature, the Jackrabbits are mistrustful if they have never stepped foot outside Sargon. Rhodes Island has been working with some of the elder Jackrabbits to help them open up. That expertise with desert terrain is also invaluable and the more allies, the better.
As is the case with most Cautus originally from Rim Billiton, they are still pretty lean and thin. In recent times that's changed and they've been having more visible muscle and somewhat more beefed up bodies as well. In terms of appearance, both males and females have been showing more musculature and a fondness for armor that was not present for many years. However, with the desert becoming a much harsher terrain more measures were taken to protect themselves. Infection is pretty rare out in the desert but precautions are still taken.
The mercenary groups still carry out the tradition family values that are core to Rim Billiton so its not unusual to see them all eating together in a tunnel or a restaurant. Since a lot of the Sargonian Cautus are predominantly orphans they almost always end up forming their own groups and sticking together nearly their entire lives. When they've money that is.

I love henchwoman crushes so here's another. They're both in some apartment because they think the owner has something they need. While looking around crush says "I don't see anything bos-.... what the fuck? " while walking to the room. They go to see what she found and the room is plastered with Y/N photos from hiding (the owner of the apartment is a stalker). Y/N is clearly uncomfortable.

It's assumed when breaking into someone's home that you are the threat. What if instead you have slipped into a trap?
The Riddler: That got his attention. He entered the room and was surprised to be faced with you...a lot of you. So much you. He snapped out of his daze before pushing you towards the door. "Out! Out!" He closed the door behind him. "And people say I'm the weird one." He said to himself as he looked around the room. He decided to leave things as his but left a note on the back of a photograph on the desk. "Don't look. Don't touch. Not yours. ?" If this individual was any decent at their hobby or even didn't live under a rock. They'd know who it's from. Secretly hopes they don't heed the warning. He's already making riddles. Is also very quick to get you out of there, not wanting you in there very long at all.
Scarecrow: This kind of thing is practically his playground. He's analysing the room almost immediately. "Stand outside." He said softly as he looked at the walls that were littered with Polaroids of your face. High-school pictures, graduations, birthdays. The subjects got worse as they had less context. Pictures through windows, pictures of you at work, sleeping. Close up shots of your face. It was bizarre to watch a sociopath be so immersed in a stalkers lair. You didn't know what freaked you out more. Jonathan finally turned to you. "I'll take care of this."
Mad Hatter: "My little bunny...I do not find this funny." Jervis clenched his jaw with a steel gaze. He feigned his usual cheery smile the moment you looked at him. "Not to worry, my sweet. I assure you this will be beat!" He has 'the other rabbits' destroy the room. Then he and two of his henchmen stayed behind, waiting for this stalker to return. The others are ordered to get you home. All the while, he his cheerful smile turned into a malicious grin.
Two-Face: "Well someone's a fan..." Two-Face said mostly to himself. He noticed how panic began to take hold of you and lightly touched your arm. "You don't have to worry." Harvey began. "We'll handle this." Harv' finished. "They've been taking my things, I thought I just misplaced and lost them." You shuddered. "Take 'em back. Put 'em in your bag." Two-Face replied. They'll be siz feet under by the end of the week and that's at the very latest. We'll have the boys take care of it."
Black Mask: He followed you into the room before stepping by you to get a closer look. Well he can't have this can he? He makes a pretty apparent statement by trashing the room. This individual has made their way up Roman's hit list. Oh will this individual suffer. He'll be back for this individual but his attention turns to you. You were clearly uncomfortable, not only that, you seemed scared. Roman didn't like that. "Hey. Look at me!" He roughly lifted your chin to meet his gaze. "You don't have to worry about this. I got it handled. Got it?" Roman Sionis the definition of being aggressive and trying to be comforting...you'll get used to it.

Maybe it's the primal/prey in me. But I like the idea of fighting a werewolf during a camping trip because my friends are pusses who'd try to run while I would be like bring it on bitch. And they feel the urge to mate me instead. So they then have them try to befriend me and learn my routine as a human so they could get me alone when I'm not protecting anyone else so they could see that fear in my eyes and try to feel the urge to kill me, and they still find feel the need to make me their mate. They've seen me both vulnerable and powerful and they need to possess all of me
God, there was this idea I've been having and building on about a Reader who retreats to a small town that's more rural and closed off than a typical city and you're basically becoming burnt out on modern human society to the point you quite legitimately feel the urge to just turn into a hermit living in a shack somewhere just to get away from it all, and one night you're so sleep deprived because those goddamn wolves keep howling near your place and you're struggling with your job and you hate your life and your family and all the bad stories in the news that, you just walk outside and start running through the woods on a moonlit night, just running and running because you just feel afraid, trapped, you need to get away, you dont even know anymore, and eventually going really deep into the forest into a clearing or something before you just start screaming and wailing and calling out, just crying with your entire soul, and suddenly there are the wolves, they're there with you, not attacking or anything, just beginning to all howl with you as you scream your anguish out to the night sky
And the next morning you're going to the grocery store and your eyes are all swollen and puffy and people aren't like completely mean mugging you as an outsider anymore and you go to check out your groceries and you realize you forgot your wallet and you're about to start absolutely bawling your eyes out and about to put everything back when suddenly multiple people are stepping forward to chip in, oh its their pleasure, everyone has struggles, we've all been there right? Except?? They were all treating you like shit basically since you got here, what changed?
Gee it may have had something to do with like having a massive ass breakdown in front of a really suspiciously large number of wolves who just kind of watched over you and lowkey herded you back towards your home when you were done crying. You know how fucking big wolves are? They sure ain't dog sized. Some of these werewolf audiobooks describe the alpha wolves nearly rivaling the size of bears sometimes 😭 you're just crying and suddenly you're ready to piss yourself because the biggest wolf of the entire group is like, gingerly stepping up to you with paws the size of your fucking head and you're thinking it's slowly approaching because it's about to attack or give you a "test bite" like when bears are checking if something is edible and it just. Gives you a quick nuzzle, maybe a lick to your wet cheeks
Like imagine if, obviously you don't know this is a werewolf pack and you're probably none too keen on having your snow white moment, so if they pretended to be vicious creatures by, say, growling and approaching you really aggressively, well, youre going to take off running (unless you faint which is an entirely different problem) and maaaaybe it's a total coincidence they chase you all the way back to your house when you hadn't realized how lost and far from home you were? And maybe they also thought it was quite fun to run with you, even if you were crying and acting like a little bunny, a little piece of fragile prey for them. Wolves do love a good chase, platonic or otherwise c;
I know I derailed from what you were actually talking about though lol, but I guess the more "feral" nature of the two ideas reminded me of each other lol. I HAVE listened to werewolf audiobooks where the guy was into his mate fighting back because as a wolf, male, and alpha, it sated his natural desires to like impose dominance and control, and also just the primal sloppiness of it, so like, imagine you've got this werewolf sonuvabitch just chasing you and trying to you know "mate" and he's all but open mouth drooling because he "likes em feisty" and its like boy I am literally trying to KILL YOU? Like imagine managing to get the jump on him, like you hide and jump out from around a corner, amd bash him over the head with a rock or a big stick, and it would have worked, IF he was human, so he just turns around all "you know what, im actually impressed c:" before, you know, folding you like a pretzel and breeding you 😩💦

One headcanon I've got, which is actually going to make its way (in part) into the Top Secret Experimental Fic I'm playing about with writing at the moment, is that they are fiercely protective of their private lives when they move to Texas. Like, anyone who even steps onto their property has to sign the most ironclad NDA which means they cannot post any pictures of the property, they cannot describe anything about the property, some of them aren't even allowed to say they've been to the property. That is their home, their space, and they are fully in control of what is released about it.
Everyone gets it - they have lost enough of their lives, their privacy, their intimate spaces. So their Texan home becomes their sanctuary and word gets out that this is how they are living their lives: private figures at home, public figures outside of that property boundary. Rule One: nothing is posted without clear and express permission from BOTH of them and it will be marked as such on the post. And that permission is so rarely given they just don't ask now. Any photos taken at events, gatherings, birthdays, holidays? They know that they're always going to be private.
Everyone thinks that June is the one to be afraid of if you break that one rule. When Pez uploads a picture of his OOTD hanging on the back of a door, someone thinks he's staying at the farmhouse and he's breaking Rule One because there's no tag and he has to quickly start a livestream where he can show people that he's not at the house, he's actually somewhere else entirely.
What he doesn't tell people is that he did that in a panic because Catherine called him and threatened to have him locked in the Tower for the rest of his natural life.
So yeah. My headcanon is that the boys, and their families, become ultra protective of their privacy.
As for the second question, this made me think about if I have a favourite colour! I tend to favour blues so I guess I would describe them looking as the sun feels on an autumn day: the warmth being tempered with cooler air and winds. It's not intense, it's not overpowering. The blues I favour are the kinds that are the in-between. Cosy like the drawing in of the nights and the fireplaces. Comforting like the warm mugs in hands. The range from the warmer days when autumn is still bright and clinging to summer, through to the moments it is slipping into winter.
So yeah. I'd describe blue as autumn sun, and the range as the season itself.

That's a nice point about Matt Duffers, lol. But I sometimes feel like the show could not manage to deliver the message on the show. Most of the audience thinks Will was truly being childish and in the wrong for playing DnD in S3... and they still think that way after years. And of course, the audience is 'dumb' sometimes and they do not get the messages of the show and its narrative, but... it is also the case that the show could have done... better, so to say.
Honestly I think you make a fair point, though I personally don't agree with the idea that they "could have done it better" just because a lot of people don't understand what they were doing? Sure, I agree that there were maybe simpler or more straightfoward methods to get to where we are now, and I don't necessarily agree with all the Duffer's decisions, but...I certainly don't think they've done anything poorly…on top of the fact that the show isn’t even done.
I have talked about it here several times before, but: Stranger Things was and always has been a show for a specific audience (which The Duffers have repeatedly said, even walking into S5) rather than the behemoth household name moneymaker a lot of people see it as today, and a lot of the muddled interpretations of the show come from that expansion beyond its original bounds more than anything else. I think that, especially with the introduction of S4 when they “started showing their hand,” their direction for the story was clear to the audience it was meant to be—and while it is perhaps its a bit "pretentious" in a way to say so, the fact that ST is lost on people who it wasn’t designed for doesn't mean the Duffers did a weak job—it just means they aren’t the audience the show was written for.
With smaller shows (and even movies) that have more niche audiences and smaller viewerships (aka: people who know what to look for in the show), you don't see the same kind/level of criticism or audience dissonance ST gets—just like the audience for Clueless (1995) can appreciate things about it that people outside of its viewership might think was overwhelmingly foolish, same as the viewership for Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey is going to catch and appreciate things about it that are going to fly right over the heads of a fair number of people who watch it...despite both of those films being phenomenal examples of work for their specific audiences/genres.
There are people who don't like Jane Austen who know she's a master at what she did even if they don't understand it, and people who hate Stephen King books still know he's good at what he does (unless they're being critical for its own sake). To me, its much the same with The Duffers & Stranger Things—it makes sense to almost all of the nerdy, deeply steeped in movies and TV humans who watch the show, and most of us have realized they are on their way to making a clear point about how embracing your nerdiness is positive...even if most of the general audience hasn't gathered that yet.
Also, given the show isn't even finished yet, its jumping the gun a bit to say "you haven't delivered" on something that isn't yet complete? You can’t get 4/5 of the way through a book, see the lead up for the story, and then shut it before the dénouement…only to then say the author doesn’t know what they’re doing lmao.
Like. If The Duffers fuck this up I will be right there demanding justice for Will Byers, same as you. But I’m not gonna call Matt Duffer a liar or incompetent writer before his proverbial essay’s even finished just because someone who wasn’t the intended audience for ST doesn’t understand or see the deeper themes of the show ☠️ if it’s pretentious to say that then…I guess they have to mark me down LMAO.
Anyway. I hope that makes sense? And that you know I am not coming for you, but more the idea that the duffers are fucking up somehow because some people don’t understand them. But still, thanks for the ask!

Drafting out a full fic right now for Fireman!Schlatt and new recruit reader because I love the idea so much of Schlatt just being fully against anyone new who comes into the firehouse, like- just being so passive aggressive and snarky and cold and just mean to them because he's extremely critical about anyone who joins.
Because, like, duh, of course he would. He's worked this job and at this house since he graduated high school. He's seen so many people go in and out of this job, he can't even count it on both of his hands twice over. And he fuckin' knows how all of the new people who are joining are doing it to boost their own egos and feel important and have people swoon over them.
Because who wouldn't want that, right?
And he's seen this exact same pattern over and over and over and over again and he's so fucking sick of it that he's just a dick to anyone new who joins. Not enough for it to get him in trouble or be considered a problem, but enough that it gets his point across that he does not like you and is completely comfortable and open with that fact.
And then boom. New recruit reader joining being so fucking excited because they've been trying for years to get into the profession. Whether it be they weren't in the best physical shape, or they didn't pass their test, or they didn't have the right qualifications or what, even if it was none of that. Becoming a firefighter is hard because the competition is so high- especially if you're in New York.
And so, after so many hard years of trying and studying and working out and doing everything under the sun to get in and they finally- finally get that badge? God they are so fucking happy and so fucking ready to put all of their training and all of the things they've learned to use and they're so eager to learn more.
And then joining Ladder 131.
And fuck.
Enter Fireman!Schlatt who decided that he fucking hates his life and that he should have chosen a different career the second he hears the reader talking with the Fire Chief at 6:30 in the morning, introducing themself to him and listening as he talks about the station and their duties and how he'll have them get toured around by someone and-
Oh, hey, Schlatt! Come here for a second!
He hasn't even had a cup of coffee yet and he's already so willing to bash his skull repetitively into the fire pole until his head concaves around it. He would rather spend the rest of his life living in Manhattan than be at the house right now. He would rather cheer for the Mets than have to pretend to be all nice with the new recruit because he fucking knows he won't be able to last a few seconds before saying something that's just plain rude.
AND JUST- THE READER NOT BEING A PROBLEM AT ALL. Like genuinely? If Schlatt had met them outside of work? He probably would have clicked with them without any issue. Hell! They probably could become friends or more if he had met them outside of work!
But noooooo! They just had to be the new recruit, didn't they? They just had to come in with the most insufferable, annoying, irritating attitude (read: they literally just said 'hello!' and introduced themself professionally and were actually really kind and straightforward) and fuck up his entire life because now he has to tour them around the station and have them follow after him like a lost puppy.
(He knows it's wrong and a fucked way of thinking, but he considers pushing them down the fire pole without warning at least four times during that single interaction.)
And, okay, instead of the reader being all sunshine and rainbows and naive and whatnot, I present to you this idea: a reader who has just as much if not more attitude than Schlatt, who takes no shit from anyone. Like- they know Schlatt has a problem with them the second he introduces himself with the response of "Jay Schlatt. Pleasure." through gritted teeth and the coldest glare that he isn't even trying to hide.
Like- as he's touring them around, being all pissy and snarky and rude, them just going "You know, you could just, I don't know... act like an adult maybe and show me around and pretend to like me instead of being such a brat? Maybe? Light suggestion?" and keeping a neutral expression as they walk behind him casually, still taking in all of the information he's spilled and storing it in their mind.
Fireman!Schlatt, who swears on his fucking life he has never once in his life almost swung at a co-worker before, nor has the thought ever crossed his mind, but boy oh boy, did he almost just do it. And he's walking around silently fuming now, not even saying a word to the reader, like- he just passes a co-worker, gives them this look, points at you, and leaves.
Cause he will not be able to control himself if he's around you for another second, and this is now somebody else's job because he will, without a shadow of doubt, lose his if he stays with you.

So, this might be a bit weird but, after finishing Room No.9 and everything, I wanted to, kind of... Defend ending A a bit? I've seen people's (negative) reactions, some even saying they considered that worse than the ending where Daichi kills Seiji… Which is kinda crazy to me. Even if you hate it, I think it's at the very least better than that, and maybe than endings D or E?
If you think about it, there's nothing really too shocking happening. Their friendship is gone which is sad, but that also happens in every ending besides F (the "good one") and maybe C (stay in the room). Unlike C, they're at least out in the real world, and, while in a sense they might not have "really left the room", the implication is that they're doing fine living their lives and functioning in society outside of their relationship with each other. We don't even get Daichi going on about how he doesn't really care about his job like in ending B (which is very interesting for me, to wonder how he's doing as an elementary teacher while being how he is with Seiji lol).
And while it's definetely sad that there's not really any friendship or love in their relationship anymore, and that it has only turned into what it did due to what they've went through, it's really nothing too bad? People have sexual relationships without romance and explore kinks, dom/sub, humiliation stuff and whatever else they're doing there in real life too, and it's not neccessarily something bad in itself (outside of the context of what initiated it here). They're not even as sex addicted as ending C, cause they don't meet up every day or anything.
I don't think anything Seiji is doing there (because, yes, he's doing it, it's not just something being done to him) is something to truly pity him for. It might be called abuse ending but he's consenting to it, out of the room, with no drugs/aphrodisiacs like in there. And the guilt he probably feels, and that Daichi does on the other side of it, it's something that many people feel about their own kinks/fetishes. The sad part of that ending is really more the feeling of what has been lost, as Daichi says at the end.
I've seen people talk about how Daichi "turns" into a sadistic or into something, or just how they change on that ending in general, but I don't fully agree with that. I mean, it's kinda true, in that they definetely wouldn't have turned out that way without what happened, but, in a way it was also something in them that was awakened.
No matter which route you take, Daichi and Seiji are still turned on from what they have to do. Seij still gets an erection when Daichi face-fucks him. Daichi still talks about how deep down he actually does want to have sex with Seiji at certain moments, about how bad he feels that he's kind of excited to do certain tasks, about how sexy Seiji looks during them. In the shower scene (of the third route, which is the "good one"), he even considers that maybe the idea of doing it to help Seiji is just a rationalization and he actually just wants to have sex with him (well, I'd say it's both).
So, I feel like that ending is in a way the one where they are their truest selves. Primal, deranged, twisted maybe. But they're not in denial anymore (well, the way Daichi reacts to one of the guys thinking he's Seiji's boyfriend makes me wonder if he isn't a bit more in love than he admits, but I might be reading too much into it). Maybe ending C (stay in the room) too, but in that one they seem to be just going with it without thinking more than anything, while in this one, there's more of a realization for them, an inner knowledge about themselves.
I don't think Daichi's sadism is completely created by "the room". And, I mean, it's just sexual sadism. He still never really harms Seiji. It's all very common kinky sex stuff. It's more humiliation/degradation than actual violence. I don't think he's really evil for it. He kinda thinks so earlier on the route, but that doesn't mean we have to agree with it. While I love the sweet Daichi from the third route (and even the second one, if he chooses to stay with Seiji), I gotta admit that route 1 Daichi is also kinda dear to me in a different way. I thought some of his thoughts (like blaming it on genetics) were kinda stupid, but, that sense of guilt over what turns you on, but still wanting to do it anyway, that guilt sort of mixing with arousal because it being taboo and "wrong" is part of why you're into it...
Seiji's situation is a bit more complicated, cause he essentially gets his body "trained" to that kind of stuff (is that even realistic? probably to some extent but not as much as in the game). But I can't see Daichi turning like that if their roles were reversed, and I can't imagine him turning into a dom/sadist either, so it's probably still something somewhat innate to him that he just wasn't likely to discover.

Kaine Silva is the only child of the sovereign House Silva of the Imperium of Valais. Their family retains its right to rule through its magical bloodline - a blue dragon that, historically, had been mutated by a wizard as a part of an attempt to ascend to godhood. Thus, its descendents - House Silva - have historically been wielders of the Imperium's most powerful magic, and they rule with kindness and temperance, which means there has been very little conflict in the ~400 years of their sovereignty. Despite being a prince in their own right, the circumstances of Kaine's birth and subsequent events mean that, in the simplest terms, their magic is unstable, and threatens their life if it's not controlled. Because of this, they were sheltered, so much so that by the time they came of age they were still not named to their people, and anyone outside of the Imperium wouldn't even know of their existence. Kaine's being a single child, a draconic sorcerer, royalty, AND an aries is a recipe for the world's most restless and impatient creature. The only change they desire to their standing is to be named, so that they might one day be able to ascend their throne in their full power.

Kaine's a bit of an enigma. They keep a lot close to their chest, and they're also incredibly hypocritical - they have very little practical experience with societies outside of the palace walls, and it makes them act in ways that are contradictory. They're not necessarily a dishonest person - except for when they need to be - but they tend to panic when they think someone might know too much about them, an ingrained feeling from having to hide for the first twenty years of their life. In this sense, any misunderstandings of their character are entirely self inflicted. On the other hand, their personality is strong, and they have strong convictions.
🍌 [BANANA] Have parts of your OC been lost to time (in-universe)? What do they wish they could lose from themselves?
If they've lost anything, they wouldn't be able to tell you. They spent most of their life feeling constricted, that now, they believe they only have room to grow. The only thing they wish they would lose is their shackles - both figuratively AND literally.
🍆 [EGGPLANT] How are they used by others? How easily are they tricked into this?
Kaine "9 Wisdom" "Fuck Around And Find Out" "Will Try Anything Once" Silva is such a case study in manipulation. They pride themself on being self aware, but really, they will do some stupid shit just for the sake of saying they'd done it - or for the promise of power. They're enamored by magic and the possibility of getting stronger, controlling more volatile powers, that if you asked nicely enough and showed them something interesting enough, they'd do it. In the first campaign I ever played, Kaine accidentally joined the Cult of the Dragon. That's the kind of motherfucker they are

What I don't like about any of the relationships Buck and Eddie have had is the relationship their love interests have had with the other, that is, their best friend.
As someone who values their friendships a lot and see their best friends as platonic soulmates, if I did have a partner, I'd want my partner and best friend to not only get along, but be good friends as they're both important people in my life and both of them will have to see each other quite often since I will spend most of my time with them.
(The ideal relationship between a LI and best friend would be like the relationship Patrick and Alex from Schitt's Creek have, where they hang out without David, roast David together and just have a really fun time together with/without David.)
We haven't seen Chim and Karen hang out a lot, but they've known each other a long time and have known each other separately outside of Hen and Karen's relationship. He set them up because be knew Karen enough to know that her and Hen would make a good match. And we might not have seen them spend a lot of time together, but we have seen them get drunk together. Karen thought Hen was cheating on her and immediately went to Chim because she's close enough to him to talk about Hen and he knows Hen well. Hence we can assume they are very close and are good friends.
It can also be assumed that she is very close to the rest of the firefam with what we've seen in the show.
In Athena's case, just like in Karen's case like how she knew Chim before being in a relationship with his best friend, she knew and was friends with Hen before even meeting Bobby. And she's always had a close relationship with the firefam as a whole because of calls and of course because of Bobby, but we've also seen evidence that she's close to each and every single one of them (I think we've barely seen Chimney and Athena interact, if not at all, but Bobby and Athena literally host parties all the time and Athena visits the firehouse more often than not and by way of Hen, there's no way they're not close).
Now if we look at all of Buck and Eddie's romantic relationships, Abby and Taylor are the only ones who have even interacted with the firefam. Shannon, Ali and Ana most probably have interacted with them but we haven't seen any instances of them interacting with the firefam as a whole if I remember correctly (Shannon once stormed into the firehouse to see Eddie, I don't think we've ever since Ali talk to anyone in the firefam except Eddie, and we've seen Ana talk to Ravi that one time)

In Buck n Eddie case, their relationships to each other's partners have not been friendships but acquaintanceships
Eddie disliked Taylor for obvious reasons. Everybody did.
We've seen Eddie talking to Ali during the earthquake rescue but never after that. He could've talked to her offscreen but my point is they were not close. They were acquaintances at best.
Abby had a relationship with the firefam, wouldn't see a great one but they acknowledged her and they got along even though they didn't see her as an extended family member like they see Karen.
If they don't make Buddie canon, and they're planning on bringing new love interests in the future then I would like to see that kind of relationship play out.
It does not seem logical to introduce a new LI who will form a close relationship with the firefam even though it is possible and time consuming.
So Buddie IS the most logical way to go at this point of the show, but that's up to the writers and I'm not at all sure they'll go for it cuz I have trust issues (victim of the Supernatural Queerbait Destiel Disaster). But that's just me. So have faith, o ye Buddie fans, for all hope is not lost until the show has ended.
TL;DR: Biggest issue I've had with all of Buck and Eddie's romantic relationships is that their lovers have never had a close relationship with Eddie and Buck respectively and/or the firefam.
Also, as a side note, I really wanna see Maddie n Eddie interact.
And Maddie and Karen.
And Buck and Karen (have we ever seen them talk to each other? This is unforgivable!)
