I miss the narrator
Tumblr media
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I miss the narrator from Good Omens season 1.
I will admit, when I first watched the show it threw me a bit. Sure, the narrator's jokes were funny, but I thought that as a story-telling device it was distracting. There was just so much of it all the time, and it often felt out of place. And when I went to look up reviews online, it seemed a lot of people agreed: if there ever was a season 2, the narrator had to go.
But THEN.
THEN.
Then I read the book.
And I realized: the narrator is the footnotes. It's the little jokes in between the plot. In descriptions, in metaphors, in transitions. The narrator is what makes the magic of the novel.
The narrator is the authors.
More specifically, the narrator is Terry.
Terry's influence on the novel, on the story; Terry's influence in the way he and Neil wrote the book. Neil has said before somewhere (I will find the source eventually and add it) that he was writing in Terry's style when he co-wrote the novel. And it shows; to me, when I read Good Omens, I was reading a Terry Pratchett novel. At the time, I had no previous experience with reading Terry's work, and the only novel I'd read of Neil's was American Gods. And in my opinion, Good Omens reads nothing like American Gods.
In subsequently reading more of Terry's work, it became even clearer to me that the narrator in the show was Neil's way of keeping Terry in the story. And maybe it WAS clunky in a visual medium, maybe it WAS distracting, jarring. But it was also hilarious, and whimsical, and playful, and fun. And I don't see how Neil could have done without it and still stayed so true to the novel. The jokes, the metaphors, the descriptions, the footnotes; this is what makes Good Omens what it is.
There was no narrator in season 2.
I will say up front that, overall, I enjoyed season 2. It had so many funny moments, and so many thought-provoking, poignant moments too. It used some dialog from the first book (looking at you Resurrectionists minisode) to remind us why Good Omens is not just a romp between an angel and demon, but also a philosophical, thought-provoking piece of media. It had a lot of Pratchett-esque moments; the Job minisode stood out to me here. The end was, of course, emotional and gutting, but I like emotional and gutting (anyone who has read my fics knows this). But... I found myself missing the narrator.
I missed Terry.
And maybe that was a good thing. Maybe it was even on purpose. Maybe the lack of narrator really is illustrating the fact that, when Terry died, he left a hole in the world that can never be filled. You can't make the same show you would have made had Terry been alive. You can't even try. You can make your own thing, you can make it amazing in its own right, but you can't make it the same. And, all said and done, I think that's a very important commentary on grief. When you lose something, or someone, you're not the same as you were before; and it hurts, but you change, you adapt, you grow. Eventually, you make something new.
So... do I want there to be a narrator in season 3?
That's a good question. I think I would accept both outcomes. However, knowing that season 3 is supposed to be the sequel Neil and Terry plotted, I think it would be appropriate to have a narrator this time around. True, we have no novel to base it off of; we don't have any of Terry's footnotes, his metaphors, his jokes. But we have Neil, whom Terry influenced while writing the original novel; we have Neil writing in Terry's style, putting himself in Terry's shoes for a moment (his hat, his scarf). We have Neil, who loved Terry, who has in part made this show as a labor of love, because he promised Terry he would, and he's going to keep that promise. We have Neil to remind us why we love Good Omens in the first place.
And I think having a narrator in season 3 would be a wonderful way to illustrate that.

while i do agree with the sentiment that bloodclan should be more nuanced as an entity i still believe it is wrong to portray them as the necessary "response" to clan injustice (haven't read the books in years but i am pretty sure that bloodclan started with no connection to the clans) / an opposition to the clan's flaws. some of the thing scourge did was out of selfishness and bloodclan isn't the other colour of the black and white debacle with the clans. the clans are heavily flawed yes, but it isn't realistic to completely say that their structure had no redeeming qualities altogether and that all outsider groups is fundamentally better than the clans.
all clans and groups are flawed in their own way and i believe we shouldnt brush past the things that other groups (the sisters and what they do with their toms *cough cough*) did solely to be able to degrade the clans and their culture.
Buddy, you're setting up a strawman. I promise you that if you look into the reduxes I've made of BloodClan, Guardians, The Sisters, and the Tribe, you will see that I don't make any of them a "flawless" alternative to Clan life.
Nor do I say that the Clans have no redeeming qualities. In fact, you can browse the "Clan Culture" tag to see the various expansions I've made to show how these traditions, values, and technological advances make Clan life so alluring.
The overarching theme of BB is that the nature of culture is change. For better AND for worse.
With respect, I think there's something insidious in the wording of "the things the other groups did." We're talking about fan responses to a work that consistently demonizes and degrades foreigners to make the Clans look like the "best way to live," justifying xenophobia. These are not real groups, they are writing choices.
In the franchise with some pretty extreme examples of misogyny, the authors said "What if bizarro world where women rule and have no men... woag..." and only includes a single Clan-alligned member of this culture, with a BAD opinion of them, who can't even do his diplomatic job because he HATES them so much.
In the same franchise that shows Fireheart getting bullied, facing prejudice, and fighting a murderous tyrant who publically executes a mixed-race character, their endgame villain is an outsider, like him, but this one IS a godless heathen who HATES love and friendship and banned families.
In the VERY same franchise which made its first non-malicious group barely able to get through an arc without needing to be saved by Clan cats, totally unable to defend themselves, framed as "whiny" for not wanting their clearly 'inferior' culture to be forcefully changed.
And I'm re-stating all this because, again, no offense to you in particular Anon, but I've been seeing a few people with a sentiment like yours lately. Complaints into a vacuum that don't make targeted critique of anyone's fanworks, gesturing at this broad "woobification" which is apparently out there somewhere over the rainbow, saying things like "well Scourge is selfish" or "well Moonlight abandoned her 13 year old" as if we haven't BEEN knew.
As if we're not all directly responding to these choices. As if I haven't written ESSAYS on this topic.
Since this was about BloodClan in particular though, and you admit you haven't read the books in years, please go back and actually read Rise of Scourge before trying to make critique of the ways fanon rewrites its origin. It's EXPLICITLY a response to the Clans, in the text, that the Erins wrote, it is canon that fanon is working with.
And you want people to take that out and approach it a different way... why? Because it's so incredulous to you that a nation forms in response to a threatening neighbor? That a common enemy through invasions is a way that people might choose to unite, and encourage their new culture to value brutality? Because you don't like the idea of Clan Culture's XENOPHOBIC BATTLE CULTURE affecting surrounding communities??
Could YOU, maybe, be doing this "woobification" thing I keep hearing about? Can I play this stupid game too? What's our stupid prize? Can it be a lollipop? Do we get stickers
TL;DR, ok.

Consolidated HL Character Profile #1:
— Ominis Gaunt —
Tumblr media
Note: The following information on this post are a combination of my personal headcanons and canon-compliant resources. I have done research on this but, of course, these are pure speculation since we do not have actual canon information about this character. I hope you all enjoy this! 💕
Tags and shout-outs are at the end of this post!
This is a very, very long post! Take your time.
—---—---—---—---—
I. Possible Birth Place
The last of the Gaunts, as we know it, have lived in poverty. The members of this once noble house trickled down to Marvolo Gaunt and his two children — Merope and Morfin.
According to the book, (Half-Blood Prince; Chapter 10, "The House of Gaunt") the family was living in a rundown shack that Harry Potter wondered whether it was inhabited, or not.
"... its walls were mossy and so many tiles had fallen off the roof that the rafters were visible in places. Nettles grew all around it, their tips reaching the windows, which were tiny and thick with grime."
The description of the Gaunts' living conditions were shown during Bob Ogden's visit in Little Hangleton around the early 1920's. As the wiki suggests, Ominis should already be in his late 40's (and close to his supposed death). It was also said that due to their vein of instability, arrogance, and pride, the family gold has been squandered well before the last generations were born.
Now, based on the canon timeline, there is a high chance that Ominis and Marvolo were siblings — something this fandom seems to agree on.
"Chronologically, Marvolo Gaunt could be one of the elder siblings who tortured Ominis with the Cruciatus Curse."
However, I personally find it hard to picture him having been born and raised in that same shack in Little Hangleton. While it's very possible to have a family living together in a small, decrepit house, it seems like there are more than four members of the second-to-the-last generation of Gaunts.
Ominis had both parents present, his Aunt Noctua, and older siblings (one of which could be Marvolo himself). That would be at least five family members living under one roof. I just find it a little difficult to believe that someone who is as kempt and posh-looking as Ominis would be living in a shack.
Also, he seems to be the least-favorite child based on how his parents and siblings have treated him. So, why would he have neat school robes if they couldn't really afford it, right? And why give the good clothes to the blind, black-sheep of the family?
This led me to think that maybe, they did have some money to spare during those times. Another accepted headcanon of the fandom is that the Gaunts needed to keep up with the façade that they are still rich and prominent by dressing up aristocratically and by speaking in a posh accent (which is called Received Pronunciation, also called the Queen's Accent).
Furthermore, we literally almost got the Gaunt Manor questline, with a courtyard, in the game but the developers cancelled it. This could be the proof that they have also thought of the fact that Ominis did not grow up, nor was he born, in a dilapidated shack.
Tumblr media
But wait!
How and where did I start pinpointing the Gaunts' possible ancestral origins? Well, I found a theorized Timeline of Salazar Slytherin's Descendants compiled and analyzed by Obversa (whom I am a long-time fan of, and usual source of information). Please take a moment to check this part out:
Tumblr media
[This is the Reddit link to the whole post!]
So... where do we start with Ominis' theoretical birth place? I have attached a map that is highlighted in different colors to make it easier to understand.
Tumblr media
1. Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire (Highlighted in blue)
Situated at the center of the English map, one of the possible birthplaces of Ominis Gaunt is either Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire.
We know that the Gaunts were descendants of Cadmus Peverell, the original owner of the Resurrection Stone (a.k.a. The Heirloom Gaunt Ring). So, I got to trace back the origins of the last name Peverell, where they're from and which period they came to be.
According to House of Names, the Peverell line is one of the thousand new names that the Norman Conquest brought to England in the year 1066 CE.
William Peverell, the "natural son of William the Conqueror," received his share of 162 manors; many of which were in these two counties.
As stated from the pictured timeline above, Cadmus Peverell had been born at around the year 1214 CE.
A hundred and sixty-two manors under the Peverell family name alone seem like it's a possibility that the three Peverell brothers (Antioch, Cadmus, and Ignotus) inherited at least one of these manors as part of familial land distribution.
And once again, citing the timeline above, the Peverell line (at least in Cadmus' side) possibly ended with a female; who married a male Gaunt. It's likely that they moved to one of these manors as a start of the foundation of the House of Gaunt.
— An example in Derbyshire:
Tumblr media
— An example in Nottinghamshire:
Tumblr media
These two examples look like Gaunt Manor style, in my opinion. So far, I'm highly convinced that it's either Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire due to the manors being quite sequestered from city propers and large, populated towns.
2. Yorkshire (Encircled in red on the map)
This one is actually the suggestion of the lovely @diligentcranberry (Thank you for entertaining my unhinged obsession about the Gaunts origins).
It is said that Little Hangleton is approximately 200 miles north of Privet Drive. Now, Privet Drive is in Surrey. When I checked on the maps, York is directly north of Surrey; at around 203 miles, if you travel by foot.
There is also the possibility that perhaps the Gaunts simply moved towns instead of counties and cities. Maybe there is a magically hidden part of Yorkshire that is isolated enough to be far away from the muggles (or muggleborns) and nosy neighbors for them to conduct their wicked and inhumane past time activities: torturing muggles for sport.
Not only would this place be an ideal location for illicit activities, the density of trees around this area sounded like something the Gaunt family would like to have so that they are not easily accessible to anyone, including Ministry officials.
Tumblr media
Runner-up Place: Godric's Hollow (Lined in pink on the map; the whole West Countryside)
There has been speculation that the Gaunts once resided in Godric's Hollow (as did other Wizarding families). Most people would also think that the Gaunts have ties to this place since one Peverell was buried here.
"Every now and then, he [Harry] recognized a surname that, like Abbott, he had met at Hogwarts. Sometimes, there were several generations of the same Wizarding family represented in the graveyard: Harry could tell from the dates that it had either died out, or the current members had moved away from Godric's Hollow."
The wiki even suggested that Godric's Hollow is Cadmus Peverell's final resting place. However, there is no canonical reference to this speculation. According to the book (The Deathly Hallows; Chapter 16, "Godric's Hollow"), Hermione only confirmed seeing Ignotus' tombstone. And while it was the norm to bury family members together in the same graveyard, we have no evidence that Cadmus was, in fact, buried alongside his brothers.
Lastly, official information from Wizarding World states that it was only Ignotus that had been found buried there, but no evidence pointed to where the others may be.
Runner-up Place: Leicestershire (Highlight in orange on the map)
This is actually the last place I researched because I remember that there was a man named John of Gaunt (1340-1399). He was the father of King Henry IV, and used to be one of the richest men of this century. I didn't find anything about him at first... until I saw who his wife was.
John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster, had been married thrice in his lifetime. But it was his second wife, Constance of Castile (1354-1394) that piqued my interest.
Now, this sounds like a long-shot. But the theorized Timeline above proposed that Salazar Slytherin could be from Burgos, Castile, Spain. It wouldn't be totally impossible that Slytherin himself had children back in Spain; or that some of the children he sired during his stay in Scotland possibly moved back to Spain.
At least in my mind, there is a chance that Constance of Castile might be one of the descendants of Salazar Slytherin who ended up marrying a Gaunt.
Then again, Constance and John only had a surviving daughter, and the canonical information about the Peverell line was completely thrown out of the window with this theory. So, it's highly unlikely that this place was the ancestral origins of the future Gaunts. Still, this was fun to include!
End Results:
There is strong evidence that Ominis Gaunt may have been born in either Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, or Yorkshire. I know there's so much information to consider regarding this, so it's your decision which county you would use that fits your headcanons.
As for my personal headcanon, I'd say he's born in an ancestral manor that once belonged to the Peverells, which was located in Derbyshire.
But as the family fortune started to dwindle due to poor management, it ultimately fell unto Marvolo to sell the property and find another place to move to. And since Marvolo doesn't seem to be the type to find employment, the money he had gotten from the sold property almost immediately got used up. In the end, he and his remaining family had to move to that dilapidated shack in Little Hangleton, Yorkshire.

II. Possible Date of Birth
Note: If you're not interested in astrology, you can just skip this one, and go to Part 3, 4, and 5!
This section of the post is pure speculation, and no solid proof at all. But we do know that Ominis should be born between September 1, 1874 and August 31, 1875 if he was to be eleven years-old during the start of his first year at Hogwarts. Therefore, all of the following information is gathered by astrological observations of his character.
(I have a personal tarot and astrology account, @tarotwitchy, if you guys are interested in knowing more about this type of content).
Tumblr media
Based on character analysis, I believe that Ominis is a Capricorn Sun, Pisces Moon, and Scorpio Rising.
Now, what does that mean?
Let's break down his character one astrological placement at a time.
1. Capricorn Sun
— a person with their Sun in Capricorn is someone who is determined to make the most out of their life. Hard working, perseverant, and resilient, they don't allow themselves to succumb in to their losses and admit defeat.
— Ominis surely displayed these characteristics throughout the game. He doesn't let his disability stop him from accomplishing the things he set his mind to. He doesn't want his traumatic beginnings to inhibit his potentiality for success and happiness outside of his family's customs. When he sets his mind on something, he sees through it (no pun intended).
— Also, he is loyal to the good cause. He knows what's right and what's wrong. He isn't afraid of calling out anyone for their wrongdoings, nor does he back off from confrontation. This behavior of his was very apparent when he secretly followed the new fifth-year and Sebastian to the catacombs.
— There's also a bit of a savior-complex in him; wherein he feels he could set someone straight, tell them what to do or what not to do, can have a demanding demeanor at times, and could perhaps want to control his environment to make it easier for him to navigate. (So, yes. All of those Dominis stories can actually be a canonical behavior of his).
2. Pisces Moon
— With all that was said about his Sun Sign, his Pisces Moon is the reason we get a softer, gentler version of his Capricorn. People with Pisces Moons are known to be emotionally wise beyond their years. Their ability to empathize people's experiences are astounding, and their compassion is matched only by their fellow water signs.
— This admirable kindness that Ominis possesses is what we eventually understand and come to associate with him. When faced with the opportunity to torture muggles like his family does, his first instinct is to refuse. In spite of his blindness, he doesn't need sight to see how all of that was very immoral and apathetic. And even as he was forced to cast the Cruciatus Curse, he still laments and regrets that event up to the present time.
— One more thing to note is that Ominis could have simply reported Sebastian as soon as the latter displayed interest in the Dark Arts. But he didn't because of three reasons: He didn't want to lose his best friend, he still believed in Sebastian's chance to redeem and pull himself out of the darkness, and he empathized with Sebastian's desperation to find a cure for Anne. This altruistic attitude is what's best about him.
— It also affirms my previous headcanon about Ominis' sleeping habits, as Pisces rules over the realms of sleep.
3. Capricorn Mercury
— It's very obvious that Ominis is quite mature for his age. The way he talks, thinks, and carries himself is trademark Capricorn Mercury. He is also straightforward and he plans ahead not just for himself but for others. At the end of the game, he literally said, "whatever lies ahead, we must face it together."
— Mercury is the planet of communication, intellect, memory, and learning. Ominis' style of communication is quite formal and authoritative in nature, and he keeps it that way. He is able to express himself in a put-together manner that conveys his thoughts crystal-clear. He doesn't speak in riddles (👀) and he wants to be understood the first time around.
4. Sagittarius Venus
— Alright, this one is a surprising placement for Ominis. But after a while, I found this to be quite fitting for him! While he is someone who we consider as "docile" or "serene" on most days, having his Venus in Sagittarius gives him a streak of curiosity and a yearning for exploration; as Sagittarius is the sign of higher learning and traveling.
— The first time we see him (if you're a Slytherin) is in the common room being cheeky about the first-years who are trying to spot mermaids through the windows. He has a playful side to him that balances out majority of his more serious and somber placements. The fact that he is closest to Sebastian (who is really fiery and passionate) is proof that Ominis can hold his own when it comes to his best friend's fervent personality.
— Of course, Venus is the planet of love and romance. Majority of the stories I've read, Ominis is the kind of man who will study his partner's personality, routine, habits, quirks, likes and dislikes, special interests, and goals and dreams. This is the behavior of a well-developed Sagittarius Venus. They will absolutely love to get to know their partner's personhood beyond the superficial. They will also keep their partnership alive by sharing life experiences together and encouraging their partner to explore more novel and romantic moments with them.
5. Scorpio Mars
— Where to begin with this placement? It's quite hard to believe, at first, that Ominis would have his Mars in Scorpio. That would entail someone who is traditionally brusque, aggressive, and would embody the combination of Martian-Plutonian qualities.
— But in his case, there is a reason why people are compelled to write, draw, and express him as Dominis. It's because even if he haven't actually seen him being a dominant man, we instinctively know that he is capable of it. That's the effect of Scorpio Mars. The evidence of this placement is not always "in your face." It can be subtle, it can be a secret. His dominance and assertiveness is just dancing along the edge of his skin.
— But one of the most important things to remember about them is that once a Scorpio Mars has had enough, they snap. And they will always get the last word after they have put people in their place, snapped some bones, and razed the earth. And this is something Ominis is very much capable of doing. But his self-control is immaculate.
6. Scorpio Rising
— Again, this seems very unlikely at first glance. But upon further observation, Ominis is the type of guy you don't really know much about unless he purposefully let you in on his private circle, explicitly says something about himself. He also has strong eyes that pierce through others in spite of his blindness. His striking face and cheekbones are unforgettable, and he doesn't look like anyone else. Others also can't help but feel compelled to want to know more about him, as his enigmatic aura inevitably pulls them in (whether he likes it, or not. That's why most Scorpio Risings have trouble with unsolicited attention).
— To drive this point further, if you check out this video of other NPC's talking about him, they all seem to come to a polarized conclusion, with the common thread of 'Ominis is hiding something.' Granted that the name Gaunt, in and of itself, strikes fear and wary in people's hearts, others have really strong opinions about him without even getting to know him personally. That, too, is something most Scorpio Risings struggle with.
End Results:
Ominis Gaunt was born on January 11, 1875 at around 03:00AM, during the winter season.
Of course, this is only my personal headcanon, and based on my astrological research and experience. The runner-up dates I had in mind would make him fall in the Sun Sign of Pisces, Cancer, Aquarius, and even Scorpio! But the rest of the chart doesn't really align with the rest of his personality. Ultimately, January 11th is the final date I believe suits him most.

III. Psychometric Analysis
Note: I will be linking the sites for these tests should you want to take them yourself! 😊 Have fun!
1. MBTI
— ISTJ (Introvert, Sensing, Thinking, Judging)
"They rely on their past experience to guide them, and are most comfortable in familiar surroundings. On personality trait measures, they score as Calm, Stable, Steady, Cautious, and Conventional. The ISTJ’s main and most admirable strength is perseverance; people of this type simply do not give up. They also have a natural instinct to protect and defend, as they are loyal, reliable and committed."
These descriptions speak for themselves when it comes to knowing Ominis' personality type. People who have a lack of sight (or those who are legally blind) rely on fixed structures and routines to help ease their everyday needs. While it is possible for them to be spontaneous, they still have to have familiarity and past experience in the spontaneity they'll participate in.
He is very loyal, to a fault sometimes. He's committed in making sure that his beloved friends are not dallying in things they shouldn't be. He knows the difference between right and wrong, and trusts his life experiences to guide him to proper decisions.
2. Enneagram
— Type 6 with wing 5; SP/SX (The Defender)
"The committed, security-oriented type, sixes are reliable, hard-working, responsible, and trustworthy. Excellent "troubleshooters," they foresee problems and foster cooperation, but can also become defensive, evasive, and anxious—running on stress while complaining about it. They can be cautious and indecisive, but also reactive, defiant and rebellious."
"Their basic fear is being without support and guidance, having nowhere or no one to hold onto. This is why their basic desire is to have security and support from their chosen people."
This one is very obvious. It's quite apparent that he is the type of person who can be anxious if things and people aren't where he wanted them to be. While he yearns for cooperation due to his need for security, other people who aren't used to this kind of behavior will find him controlling; and perhaps, even smothering.
Nevertheless, Ominis' intentions come from a good place. He doesn't want his people to be hurt or harmed. He also has an impeccable intuition to predict outcomes of certain situations, which makes him look paranoid. But his assumptions, more often than not, are proven to be correct!
3. Four Temperaments
— Melancholic–Phlegmatic (The Analyst)
"The Melancholy-Phlegmatic is a pleasant and accommodating person who tends to seek a structured environment requiring attention to detail. They have a self-sacrificing, self-critical nature, and struggle with guilt feelings about things that are not often their fault. The Melancholy-Phlegmatic is more conscientious and private than the other Melancholy blends."
This is quite self-explanatory. Ominis has two distinct behavior: the calm and peaceful, and the anxious and prickly. When things are going the way it's supposed to be (in his definition), he would be placated and docile. We see him as approachable and a little more open. But when things aren't going according to plan, or when things suddenly happen unexpectedly, he's like a rolling wheel going in different directions trying to extinguish the uncontrollable fires of disaster.
He's the first to respond by going to Headmaster Black to fabricate a story to hide what really happened between the Sallows, and make it look like a family argument instead. He's the one to alert MC that Anne went to get Solomon, and that we should do something about it immediately. He is the safety net of all these people in his life.
—---—---—---—---—
IV. Corporeal Patronus
Tumblr media
I want to give a shout out to @ponfarrdraws for discussing this with me!
We were wondering what Ominis' corporeal Patronus would be, should he be able to cast one. I've had a lot of speculation, going through one animal at a time. But ultimately settled with a Mongoose. This animal is not on the official list of Patronuses but it still has a lot of weight and meaning.
This article states that mongooses are a symbol of protection and are considered to be wards against evil. To quote:
"As a totem, the mongoose has the magical attributes of defense, protection, and destroying evil. The mongoose symbolizes action, adventure, boldness, fearlessness, impulsiveness, independence, optimism, rebellion, resistance, resourcefulness, speed, and adaptation. As a spirit animal, it encourages us to confront our enemies because we can overcome much stronger rivals than ourselves."
If Ominis were to find himself facing a dementor, he would probably be the first to sense its presence, and probably the most affected. Even though he wouldn't be able to see the frightening features of a dementor, he would be feeling the immediate change in his senses — his environment growing cold, no sounds of animals around, and the overall sensation of hopelessness and misery. He would be completely thrown off by the sudden change in his surroundings; something that would send him into a state of panic.
But with this Patronus, it represents his determination to stand firm in the face of adversity, to not give in easily without putting up a fight, and to prove that he is as deadly as any dementor that would stand in his way.
I personally headcanon this animal for obvious reasons. He truly is a fighter in a den of snakes. No matter how many times his family strikes against him, he just takes his time to recover and stand back up again. He is clearly outnumbered by his family members. No one else can support him in his opposition ever since his Aunt Noctua passed away. Regardless, he doesn't seem the kind to bow his head in defeat just to save his skin. He fights back until he can't anymore; something the mongoose is well-known for.
And let's just say that Ominis did die at 50-years of age. He still got the last laugh out of them all since he got to pass away on his own terms, away from the very people he loathed since childhood. That's still a victory in his book, and that's what this patronus represents.
—---—---—---—---—
V. Wand Information
Tumblr media
1. Wand Wood
Based on the physical characteristics of this wand and the meaning of the wood, it's highly possible that Ominis' wand is made from Ebony Wood.
According to the wand wood information:
"This jet-black wand wood has an impressive appearance and reputation, being highly suited to all manner of combative magic, and to Transfiguration. Ebony is happiest in the hand of those with the courage to be themselves. Frequently non-conformist, highly individual or comfortable with the status of outsider, ebony wand owners have been found both among the ranks of the Order of the Phoenix and among the Death Eaters. [...] the ebony wand’s perfect match is one who will hold fast to his or her beliefs, no matter what the external pressure, and will not be swayed lightly from their purpose."
This type of wand wood, in my opinion, is a reflection of Ominis' conviction in his views. I find it fascinating and admirable that even in the face of losing his friendship with Sebastian, he didn't bow down and agree with Sebastian's methods. Sure, he gets convinced by the MC to let them deal with it. But at the end of the day, Ominis is strictly against the use of the Dark Arts. Furthermore, he does everything to maintain his moral compass despite being surrounded by people (friends and family) who practice and preach about the unforgivable curses.
Also! I'd like to add the conversation I had with @tennoujinerin about Ominis' godly self-restraint. We believe that while most of us admire Ominis for his kindness, temperance, compassion, and commitment to the good cause, he is someone who can easily turn it all around. He is born in a family of pureblood supremacists who have no qualms in utilizing the Dark Arts like it's a daily chore. He most definitely is very, very familiar with Dark Spells that maybe even Sebastian isn't aware of. If pushed to the brink of survival, there's a possibility that Ominis could reconsider his relationship with the Dark Arts. And this wand wood is perfect for that kind of change of heart.
2. Wand Core
For this part, I admit I was stumped for a while. I believe all the three cores that Ollivanders usually has could be a good fit for Ominis for a plethora of different reasons. But it still feels... lacking. Like, something was missing for this special wand to work.
That's why in the end, I think Ominis has two wand cores that were needed to suit his special needs. He needs a core that reflects his personality and another to aid him with his magical abilities. And for that, the cores of his wand are a combination of Unicorn Hair and Horned Serpent Horn.
"Unicorn Hair generally produces the most consistent magic. These wands are the hardest to turn to the Dark Arts. The most faithful wands have unicorn hair, making them bond strongly with their owner. They are prone to melancholy if seriously mishandled, meaning that the hair may ‘die’ and need replacing."
While this core could technically be enough, it just doesn't feel customized enough. We know that his wand emits a red pulse at the tip to help him navigate his surroundings. Therefore, this wand needs another core to bolster its utility.
"Wands made with Horned Serpent Horn are exceptionally power, creating massive spell effects regards of the user's skill. Sensitive to Parseltongue and would vibrate when Parseltounge is being spoken near it, and can warn their owners of danger by emitting a low musical tone. These wands were said to only bond with one user through it's lifetime, but this is only a rumor for now."
These two cores encased in ebony wood make for such a personalized wand. The fact that Horned Serpent Horn core warns its owner about incoming danger is an important factor for Ominis' safety and security. He needs to be alerted for when hexes and spells are being blasted in his way. And as for all serpentine cores, it's also sensitive to Parseltongue.
(Maybe it's just me but I believe that Horned Serpents are the antithesis of Basilisks. Having this creature's horn as Ominis' wand core would be the ultimate and tangible symbol of his rebellion against Salazar Slytherin's secret weapon, that lies in the Chamber of Secrets, and everything his family taught him to uphold).
3. Wand Flexibility and Length
According to the official source:
"Wand flexibility or rigidity denotes the degree of adaptability and willingness to change possessed by the wand-and-owner pair."
Because of that, his wand is most likely Rigid. This source had explained it perfectly:
"A wand of this flexibility will only give its complete loyalty to an owner who has faced great personal tragedy. It is particularly good for practical magic use, and thus usually doesn't perform well for magic that is frivolous or silly. Rigid wand owners are cautious and have difficulty trusting others, but they are not usually unkind people. Generally, they prefer to be left alone so that they can do what they want to do, regardless of what anyone else says."
(If you're not a Slytherin in the game, your first interaction with Ominis is surely abrasive and tense. And that's because he truly is cautious, and wants his private spaces to be left alone).
Lastly, this wand is on the longer side, measuring at around 14 inches. He needs a wand that can act like an extension of himself; just like blind muggles need a mobility cane.
TL;DR:
Ebony with Unicorn Hair and Horned Serpent Horn Core, Rigid and 14 inches.

Let's discuss some topic that I frequently read on tumblr about house of the dragon (if u do not agree then u can express ur opinion by comment, but always be educate. And if you want another topic to be discussed let me know and i will make a post)
“Aegon is the rightful king of the seven kingdoms by law”
GRRM in an interview said this “ Well, the short answer is that the laws of inheritance in the Seven Kingdoms are modeled on those in real medieval history… which is to say, they were vague, uncodified, subject to varying interpretations, and often contradictory” so we can say that male primogeniture is based on traditions, not law. King Jaehaerys with the great council of 101 at harrenal let the lords decide who should succeeded him, so he gave them a choice. But this is not the same about king viserys, he named rhaenyra as his heir and alway defended her, so viserys did not give them a choice. By usurping rhaenyra’s throne the green imply that the king’s word means nothing, and this is the thing that causes war and crisis. As we see in the book fire and blood most of the houses support rhaenyra’s cause, so otto’s word “the realm will not accept her” are revealed to be false. Again the war come from the fact that otto and alicent decide to crown aegon, so houses actually have a choice to decide who they wanted to support, if aegon hadn’t been present as an option the few houses that didn't agree with viserys choice will bent the knee alike.
“Alicent always defended rhaenyra before she lied to her about her purity”
In episode three the show let us see a conversation between otto and alicent where he said “aegon has been robbed of his own inheritance because he is the king’s first born son” and after he said that is alicent’s aim to guide the king in his decision, the second after she went to viserys’ chamber claim that there is something she want to discuss with him (viserys stopped her and they start talking about the stepstones). How do you know that she did not raise this matter anymore? In episode six when older alicent was question rhaenyra’s children she say she already talk about this before but the show didn't let us saw it, so its completely possible that she proposed aegon as heir even before rhaenyra’s lie when they were still friend
“Alicent always defend rhaenyra and yet rhaenyra send otto away when she had the possibility leaving alicent alone”
Let’s go deep into it. Queen Aemma, rhaenyra’s mother, died in order to gave the king a son, she was literally open without any kind of anesthesia so she felt every cut the maester were doing to her (and in the original script rhaenyra saw her body so she is aware that the death of her mother wasn’t a miscarriages like the other). After all of it viserys named rhaenyra his heir and married alicent, and at the time they had two children together, aegon and haelena. In this scenario otto was the second most powerful man in the realm, he ruled when viserys can’t, and he had great influence as he had great ambitions. So, rhaenyra had the chance to demonstrate that her mother’s death was not vain, and all of her miscarriages and pain had an aim now that her daughter is heir, but then there is otto and he will always be an obstacles in her rise to the throne; you, in her position, had the chance to get him go away, you choose to let him stay at court so your best friend is not alone or you choose to let him go so your rise will be more easy? Because if I were in rhaenyra’s position I would have not hesitate a second
“Alicent did not knew the council were plotting to crown aegon”
You all act like she had not the huge part in rhaenyra’s usurpation. First of all she tormented rhaenyra for a lot of years in king's landing, she moved to dragonstone (which is however the seat of the heir to the throne, rhae is the princess of dragonstone) because she couldn't take it anymore to be targeted by alicent and it was her aim in my opinion because rhaenyra not set the council would let Alicent have all the power to influence everyone about how her son is more worthy. Then she said to aegon “everyone in the realm know that one day you will be our king” so also if aegon was not meant to have the crown alicent let him believe that, and he was a boy at the time so he was easily manipulated. Then there is the petition about driftmark, you are really claim that alicent was willing to do so because she care so much to vaemond to have driftmark because its his blood rights and not because when the war she and otto create will follow she will have the velaryon flee support her? And when she said that viserys whisper to her about how aegon should succeed him? You can be team green or team black, but everyone can agree about how pathetic she was claiming that after viserys defend rhae for 20 years, and he suddenly change his mind where only her was here to listen him

Just saw your post about ace representation and I couldn’t agree more. I’m not personally asexual, so I obviously can’t fully identify with people who are. But the amount of sexual themes that always seem to be present is insane. Not to mention, the media without it typically gets less attention which is super unfortunate. Obviously some people still continue to upload how they want and don’t fall into the unspoken pressure of making content that’s sexual…just for it to be popular.
(Which I feel like is a whole other problem on its own.)
I’m also not Asexual. But I agree. I’m almost bored by the amount of copy-and-paste aphrodisiac fanfiction in cod tags. The same dialogue style (“‘s too big”) or that annoying little “:(“ people add instead of a period. Occasionally, something unique and special will pop up, something without someone trying to mimic another fic that got 10k hearts. Or people trying to copy that “hentai”-ish style. Oh, how I find hentai so distasteful. But this isn’t about that.
Anyway…
I just want something readable with a pleasant writing style and an original concept. With realistic sex, and fleshed out, canonical characters. Too many times, people mischaracterize our dear MW characters that we so love.
I believe we find common ground when it comes to the fact that I, too, find it shameful that the posts with hardly any or no amorous themes at all gets less attention than the ones that do. Especially the ones I dislike the most. Something could be a pure work of art, comparable to the top thousand books published in the last two centuries, yet hardly receive attention because it doesn’t make someone aroused.
Whatever happened to handholding? Or brushing fingers by accident? Yearning to leap into someone’s arm?
Aside from that, I believe the internet is a world where anything could be unleashed, whether I like it or not; but I will rant about it.
Thanks for messaging me. I love reading your thoughts.

May I ask how Blavatsky's New Age movement is culturally Christian despite her hating Christianity?
Yup!
So, being culturally Christian isn't about agreeing with Christianity's beliefs. It's about living within and internalizing elements of Christian culture.
For example, many of our swear words/phrases are related to Christianity - EG, hell, damn, Jesus Fucking Christ, Christ on a cracker, etc.
The word "goodbye" derives from "god be with ye." We often say "bless you" after people sneeze, which comes from "God bless you," which again, has Christian origins.
Christmas being a federal holiday is an example of cultural Christianity. And if you're an atheist celebrating Christmas because you see it as being about family, you're still participating in cultural Christianity.
Now of course, none of these things are inherently bad. In fact, most of cultural Christianity isn't bad. Most of it's pretty neutral. Most of it.
Cultural Christianity also shapes our ideas of what religion looks like, how it functions, and what its purpose is. For example, many western antitheists just assume that all religions want to aggressively spread themselves, all claim to have ultimate truth, and threaten nonbelievers with punishment. Meanwhile, many of these atheists go about their atheism the same way many Christians go about Christianity - treating it as something that needs to be far and wide to save the world and usher in the utopia.
And this brings us to our next point - Christianity shapes how many of us expect the future to unfold. Specifically, a lot of us just sort of think that a utopia is just around the corner (or just imagine that as a thing that can happen if we try hard enough) thanks to Christian millennialism.
Blavatsky's concept of a New Age is basically informed by Christian millennialism. Her whole idea that the spiritually unevolved would be wiped out and a new race of spiritually superior people would take over isn't exactly Christian belief, but it's definitely informed by it.
Now some of you might be thinking, "okay, but Blavatsky drew inspiration from many religions." And you'd be right. But the thing is, she looked at and interpreted these other religions from the perspective of one who was culturally Christian. Additionally, she was taking a perennialist approach to religion, which is a thing Christians have been doing since the early days of Christianity, basically trying to claim that proof of Jesus was found in their own spiritual beliefs and religious traditions. Blavatsky, of course, wasn't looking for proof of Jesus, but she was looking for validation of her own beliefs. Hell, like many Christians before her, she even tries to claim Kabbalah validates her beliefs.
Additionally, she values the Christian Bible as a holy text with spiritual truths that she and everyone should be concerned about. Even if she disagrees with more orthodox interpretations, the fact that she thinks this is a book she needs to concern herself with at all is because of her cultural Christianity. She was informed and influenced by Christian modes of occultism and esotericism.
Ultimately, being culturally Christian has nothing to do with whether you embrace or even like Christianity's spiritual doctrines. It's about living in a Christianized society and conforming to any of its Christianity-derived assumptions, mores, and customs, regardless of what they have to do with any official church doctrine.

as if hamas wasn't the one to break the original ceasefire on oct 7
Original ceasefire?
Do you mean the 2021 ceasefire?
Which came after 11 days of conflict and occurred in response to Israel's actions.
Because they lead planned force expulsions of Palestinians from their homes, and attacked peaceful protesters in Al Aqasa mosque?
Leading to a conflict that resulted in 12 Israeli's being killed, 2 being children.
Which pales in comparison to the 248 Palestinians being killed, 66 being children.
And than even after the ceasefire, Israeli drones were still in the air.
A ceasefire Israel didn't even want and had to talked into by the US and the United Nations.
And on that same day Israeli police beat up an AP photographer.
Because of course they did.
Or do you mean the ceasefire in 2018?
In which the conflict began because Israel fired on 121 unarmed Palestinian protesters.
Who had gathered by the fence separating the two, demanding their right to return to their homes that Israel had expelled them from in 1948.
A ceasefire that Israel denies ever agreeing to, by the way.
Or do you mean the 2014 ceasefire?
A conflict that lead to 2251 Palestinians being killed, most of which were civilians.
While 66 Israeli soilders were killed, as well as 6 civilians.
There's no language on earth that makes these numbers comparable.
Also the ceasefire to this was one Israel broke within minutes.
I could go on but we'd quite literally be here all day.
These ceasefire agreements mean nothing to Israel.
They never have.
Why? Because Israel sees any kind of resistance against their illegal occupation of Palestine, as terrorism.
It doesn't matter if that resistance is peaceful or violent, Israel treats it all the same.
As a threat.
Prior to this year, they have displaced 70% of the indigenous Palestinian population in 2 of the most catastrophic displacement events in human history.
With the 1948 Nakba and the 1967 Naksa. All of which were committed against innocent Palestinians, way before Hamas was ever created.
And who created Hamas in 1987?
Oh yeah, Israel.
And who denies that fact because there seen as a threat to their control and occupation of Palestine?
Oh yeah, Israel.
Same people who treat the indigenous population of Palestinians as second class citizens.
Imposed an illegal blockade in Gaza for 16 years.
Encourage settler violence against Palestinians in the West Bank, where again Hamas ain't there.
And have openly said they want to wipe all Palestinians off the map.
Along with many, many other shit Israel has been up to.
That's not just limited to Palestine.
Jee I wonder why people would retaliate against this and not at all want to follow the tyrannical regime being forced onto them.
Heck, their wouldn't need to be a ceasefire if Israel didn't invade and settle illegally in Palestine in 1948.
Palestinians were doing a lot better than than before Israel showed up.
They've done literally all they can to reason with and peacefully protest against these tyrants.
But you can't expect an illegal occupation that's committing every war crime in the book.
Violating every international law and treats the Geneva convention like a checklist, to be expected to care for the suffering of innocents both Palestinians and their own civilians.
Given both the Israeli forces, the Israeli government and Israeli civilians have admitted that Israel has been firing on their own civilians on October 7th.
On purpose.
And continue to bomb Gaza, despite knowing their own civilians could be killed.
Israel can't be expected to follow any kind of law or agreement.
Because how else will the state of Israel go on if its not profiting the suffering of Palestinians.
Free Palestine, from the river to the sea.
For in our thousands and in our millions, we are all Palestinians.

Yeah one hole I've noticed with the argument against Crowley being an Archangel is that Crowley doesn't seem to be an average demon, even from the start? We know that AZIRAPHALE was sent to Earth as a punishment and he's low on the hierarchy. That's something that gets repeated. But they never indicate its the same for Crowley. He scored Hell's first and arguably most important victory. He constantly gets commendations. He's chosen for the "starring role" of delivering and raising the Antichrist, which Dukes of Hell are openly envious of and gets him direct praise from Satan, albeit with warning that not even Crowley will be exempt from punishment if something goes wrong. Shax refers to his place on Earth as a huge promotion she had to work hard for and he was just handed. They never actually say what Crowley's position is.
hi anon!!!✨
please would you mind referencing where aziraphale is described as being sent to earth as a punishment? i genuinely can't remember this detail from the show or book.
and also, in terms of hierarchy, my understanding from what neil has told us is that aziraphale is middling in rank (i will find the ask im remembering and link it, or correct if im wrong); that it goes:
god > metatron > gabriel > high archangels (eg michael and uriel) > lower archangels (eg sandalphon) > principality > angels lower ranked than principality (eg muriel).
i would imagine that the number of angels that form the lower ranks are the majority of the 10 million that gabriel mentions, and so would hazard that whilst not high ranking, aziraphale is by no means low ranking either.
but otherwise yes, completely agree with you!✨✨ but to anyone reading that still doubts, this is my logic (and by extension i imagine is anon's too!):
crowley re: his power, his recognition, and that he ensured original sin, this all indicates that he is in fact a ranked demon. so why would it not stand to reason that he is indeed a lord rank? hastur would rank above him as duke, which explains why he's the one to keep tabs on crowley, and then beelzebub as prince which would put them on the same ranking as gabriel, essentially ruling over their respective dominions (not a ref to the angel class, i mean hell and heaven respectively).
so by that same logic, wouldn't crowley indeed be a lord? a rank higher than whatever aziraphale's equivalent in heaven would be (ie a lower archangel)? and again, this would all fit with what shax is intimating; that if crowley was a lower archangel, he'd naturally fit for a lord of hell and his station on earth, whereas if she was lower-ranking she would have had to work to be promoted for it.
as for the scene i snipped, i can't imagine that hastur wouldn't call out crowley for saying he was a lord if he wasn't. yes, crowley was bluffing the situation to stall hastur (ie the legions of the damned), but it seems strange that he wouldn't immediately call out crowley for placing himself in that rank if he wasn't... does that make sense?✨

I’d like to explore the idea of this new generation of stories. A lot of people are bringing up the fact that stories nowadays don’t feel like they used to, in the sense that so many are not well developed, especially with the influence of social media. So what does this mean for the next generation of readers, writers, and filmmakers?
I’ve noticed that a lot of the new things coming out are written as if for children, but executed as if for adults. Mean Girls 2024 is like the Gen Alpha remix. The dialogue and the costuming is catered as if towards middle school girls, but it seems like writers are forgetting just how young middle schoolers are. I’m willing to bet that high schoolers would find the new mean girls very cringe, but middle schoolers wouldn’t. But the trailer makes it seem so sexual that it can’t possibly be written for an audience of twelve-year-olds. The same goes for the live action Avatar remake. The plot and dialogue is written like it’s for kids who can’t fully comprehend personal growth, but there’s so much violence that it can’t possibly be for kids. (To be fair, I haven’t watched either of these for myself, so take it with a grain of salt, but I think the people who have would agree; also no hate to the people involved in either production) But then you remember that some twelve year olds are full blown media influencers, who dress and speak about things inappropriate for their age, and in turn encourage their young viewers to do the same (ie. Sephora kids)
Eight graders are like armies for the media. Think about how One Direction exploded due to its audience. How the Sephora kids thing has been started by social media influencers. So, are filmmakers and writers trying to cater to the next generation of oddly mature consumers? If so, it seems like they’ve hit the mark. It’s a little too early to see how examples like Avatar will do in terms of money, but Mean Girls has grossed over $100mil in comparison with a $36mil budget, and if more things written like it do similarly in the box office, I can’t say I’d be surprised.
But even if art imitates life, life will also imitate art. The newer books and movies of today (when I say books I mean the mish mosh of tropes that get pushed around on TikTok, but that’s a whole other thing. Even so, they cater to a generation of readers who doesn’t seem to have grown up on reading) get the idea of kids that are so immature, even though they discuss and dress like they aren’t. But what those movies don’t get, in their haste to mirror Gen Alpha, is that kids are also complex human beings. The original Avatar got that, and so did the original Mean Girls. The reason I keep bringing up books is bc I was thinking about the Spirit Animals series, which is criminally underrated for its brilliant portrayal of character growth and redemption arcs, that I read when I was a kid. As Gen Z, do we want the next generation to grow up with horribly flat, oversexualized stories? We critique Gen Alpha’s inappropriate maturity, but we’re also the ones who are going to be writing for Gen Alpha in the future.
This idea is a little thrown together, and probably someone else has said it, but I think that we need to stop writing what sells. Stop the consumerist take on reading, of buying thousands of trashy romance novels to never pick up again. Stop writing cash grabs like Wish. Stop trying to mirror something about a generation that is not fully developed. I want Gen Alpha to have the feeling of being completely immersed in a story as a kid, and then growing up and thinking it was a story just for kids, but reading/watching it again and realizing just how good it was. But they won’t have that with this fast take on stories. What kid is going to enjoy the hell out of Wish, come back at 22, and think, “Wow, this is brilliant.”? But people do that all the time with the original ATLA.
I kinda hate myself writing this, but does anybody get what I mean? Why are stories getting so bad? Why are the things that make the most money absolute trash???
Anyway lol. Grain of salt, just my thoughts, yada yada yada. Lmk if u agree.

Hi,
Hope you are doing well. Thank you for the response on my previous query regarding Katara.
I was thinking about the episode 'The Storm', where an old man accuses Aang explaining about his running away to Katara, and she reassures him. I was thinking, considering the instances of running away he showed later on, do you think at some point, someone should have told him that he can't keep running forever and it hurts his friends, especially in the second episode of book 3 where Katara was upset that he ran away.
Second, also from 'The Storm', the fisher man who accused Aang, I wounder there must have been others who were angry at Aang because according to them he abandoned his duty, we may not have seen them, do you think if Aang came across more people like those, he should have an arc of understanding their anger? I am not sure if this is sort of atoning for him, because he had no intention of getting stuck in the iceberg.
I would like your thoughts on this.
People do tell him that he can't keep running away, right up until the finale. He just gets rewarded for it so of course he doesn't learn that lesson.
Katara: Aang, don't walk away from this. [Walks toward Aang.]
And the scene you mentioned in early book three, the show makes an explicit parallel between Aang running away "to redeem his honor" and Ozai telling Zuko he'd redeemed himself after sending him away. Katara calls Aang selfish and stupid for running when there are people there to help him who need him. This is juxtaposed with Zuko meeting Ozai because the lesson is supposed to be that Aang should not have to do things on his own. He doesn't need to prove anything to the people he loves and who love him, just like Zuko should have never been forced into that situation by his own father. And Aang feeling like he does need to prove something, especially to those who want him safe, is just letting them down, especially Katara, who wants him to be near her and to help him because she cares about him.
I feel like this is one of those places where the show was building towards a theme that is dropped in the third act. You can see the theme emerging, particularly with the parallels between Aang and Zuko, of focusing on love and working together. Aang seems to be poised to learn that he should not feel like he needs to run away and that he should let other people help him. That's dropped in the finale in favor of Aang having to figure things out for himself, which I'm not necessarily opposed to, except "figuring it out for himself" really means "be given the answer by a magical lion turtle." Rather than learning anything about trusting the people he loves, Aang is rewarded and the ways that he hurt Katara especially by leaving without a word are never addressed because he's the hero now so it's all good.
Like you, I agree that it's not his fault that people are angry at him for being stuck in an iceberg, but the thing that frustrates me about that plot line is that they set up Aang's feelings of guilt over it, which is also a motivating factor in him leaving without a word once he learns everyone thinks he's dead in book three. This whole idea of redeeming himself that Aang has originates in feeling guilty over the fact that he wasn't there when the hundred year war happened, that he wasn't there when his people were destroyed.
None of this is Aang's fault, just like it was never Zuko's fault that his father put unreasonable expectations on him. But Aang's guilt and running away problem that developed as a result of that guilt should have been addressed by the show the same way that Zuko had to face his shame and stop hurting other people. Again, it goes back to what Iroh says: pride is not the opposite of shame, but its source. That's why Katara calls Aang selfish and stupid for trying to be brave, because she recognizes that Aang is trying to sooth his wounded pride, and that this is something that needs to be resolved for him to truly become the hero he needs to be. It seems like that was the intention of the show until they decide to just solve the problem by giving Aang the solution to his problems via lion turtle instead.
This is also what people mean when they say the lion turtle is a deus ex machina, it doesn't weave into the thematics of the character conflicts set up by the show the same way that Zuko's finale and Katara's finale does. It doesn't tell us anything about Aang as a character that we didn't already know or develop him in any way, and actually seems to renege on his previous character development.

I recently saw you reblog the ask referring to the post about how someone stated that Katniss&Peeta and Finnick&Annie are only together because of trauma. I also wanted to say that's just not true? Like everyone in the series has trauma, everyone copes with it differently but I don't think Katniss, Peeta, Finnick, or Annie sought out their respective partners because they too had trauma. In the grand scheme of things, wouldn't it have been easier for Katniss to be with Gale so she wouldn't have to deal with Peeta's hijacking OR HIS TRAUMA from the games because wouldn't that trigger hers? (you know aside from the fact that Katniss will always link her sister's death with Gale's weaponry and disregard for human compassion). Same with Annie, would it not have been easier to just close off that chapter rather than be with Finnick, someone that is also linked to not only the Hunger Games in general, which is where "her mind broke", but HER GAMES as he was likely the mentor or one of the mentors for the male tribute who she watched GET BEHEADED. Like wouldn't Katniss have rather just not been with someone, like she always planned, or Annie been with someone from D13 who would have had no link to the games in general. Or Peeta been with Delly, who he didn't have hijacked memories of or been to hell and back with. Or how bout Finnick being with literally anyone but someone else in the games, someone who he had to fear for her life in the games?
I could rant about this all day. I looked into the person who wrote the original post and that just made me feel like I was losing my mind. I don't care if people like Gale, I can understand their points, but to tag everlark in a post shitting on them and then reply to said post and be like "I love debate" but then go about blocking people who are debating you AND CLAIMING that they didn't tag EVERLARK for attention, come on, you know you did. It's hypocritical. The person seems stuck in an old phase of internet which I have grown too old to engage in. Have your opinion, but respect general etiquette of keeping that stuff out of the tag you are actively shitting on. It only draws "bad" attention but they strike me as all PR is good PR which like, why do you want negativity in your space when you could just not?
And frankly, the original post was hypocritical because...Gale has trauma too, like a lot of it, which is what drove him to, in a way, be used by Coin. So, if the theory that Katniss had no thoughts, emotions, or feelings outside of trauma is true, would she not have originally had MORE trauma in common with Gale? Like Katniss should have fallen at Gale's feet no? Before the games, in those woods for hours, she should have bonded with him and fallen in LOVE with him due to that bond but she didn't. Because trauma doesn't make her love someone, who they are does. Frankly her bond over trauma with Gale is what kept her feeling guilty and like she had to be in his life despite, as we see in MJ, her realizing that outside of the hatred they had for the way things were in D12, they weren't compatible, their MORALS were different.
This rant is basically it. Its the HER or rants. Yes I agree. I must confess, I didn't take that other person seriously at all and mocked them in their comments, something along the lines of 'reading comprehension is dead.' (That's so mean what's wrong with me!!) I usually would feel bad about that but I think it's fair to say they were being mean for no reason (I actually still feel bad haha).
The only thing I really have to add is that the OG 'trauma bond' person seems to be using Gale's butthurt logic from the end of the last book. You know, when Gale is like "Katniss will end up with whoever she can't survive without." Which is so not the right thing to take away from the series. I thought it was common knowledge that this was incorrect, and it was put in to highlight once again that the entire series was about not just the war and the suffering but how it affected people. The whole thing is about emotions, and Katniss, the person whose emotions we know the best, is absolutely full of a kaleidoscope of emotions. It isn't so simple as to say 'Katniss chose Peeta because he was in the games with her.' Or 'Katniss chose Peeta because she was on the brink of death from depression.' No, Katniss chose Peeta because she felt so much for him. Because she was so deeply connected to him, as her friend, her partner, her teammate, even at times her enemy. She knew Peeta completely, and she liked what was there, that's why she chose him in the end. She saw him at his best and his absolute worst, but she wanted him anyway. That's love. I don't know how else to put it. But if any one of us is lucky enough to fall in love in this life, would we want to only be chosen at our bests? Why would I call that love? That's just infatuation. Love is the hard stuff.

such an interesting meta with kim, even if i have a bit of a hard time swallowing that he would ever pose a threat to chay. he's never been aggressive towards him, and he protected him at the warehouse even if chay didn't know until later. so i feel like on the contrary, they're the healthiest of the three
Heyya nonnie~
It took me some time with this response, apologies for that.
You're the nicest of all the anon asks I got in response to what I presume to be this meta that expressed the same sentiments, so I don't mind entertaining you. Hehe!
I agree, Kim has never been physically aggressive towards Chay, but the way I see it, it doesn't mean the potential isn't there. My own sentiments on this have not changed; the potential and the breadth of what this entails is what holds my attention for this couple. Now, up to where you choose to go with that is entirely up to you; I myself don't know up to what point the idea of physical aggression from Kim towards Chay can go (if it even goes anywhere), because we don't have a KP S2, all we can do is speculate on the crumbs we got.
And we in the Kimchay fandom speculate, don’t we? Every fic author who’s written a Kimchay reconciliation fic with smut involved has played with this potential, even if the potential is zero. XD For my own reconciliation fic though, I dialed it up to a 6 at least, ahahahaha. Besides that, my belief with this is in keeping with the overall themes of the show, yknow?
After all, the show asks their audience a vital question within its narrative: what consequences and hardships do Porsche, Pete, and Porchay endure, to be loved by these Theerapanyakul men?
In my defense it's not as if I pulled that aforementioned meta outta my ass, I do have an explanation for it. Lolol
It's not something I mentioned in my original meta because I know most people on here have issues with the novel, but there is a noticeable change to Chay's characterization in the adaptation. From my own experience and understanding, seeing the changes from book to show is able to provide more clarity on BOC's intent with their changes and overall presentation of the drama, which I think is a good thing, overall.
In the book, Chay is a lot more like Porsche, both in his personality and his way of thinking. For example, take a look at this scene from when Tawan kidnaps Chay, and how much Chay mouths off to him:
Tumblr media
In the adaptation however, Chay is knocked out during that scene, so the framing of that situation is very different; he’s portrayed to be a lot more helpless and weak, because of the fact that he was knocked out. I go into the consequences of these changes on a different meta, mostly talking about Porsche and Chay's relationship, if you're interested.
Another example I can think of right off the bat: when the reader first sees Chay and Kim meet (again, as it's implied that there is bad history between them) in the book, Kim pretty much kabedons Chay against the wall, and Chay retaliates by kicking him in the groin. Lol
Tumblr media
These are just two examples, but by bringing these scenes up, I want to highlight the change from book to show: in the show, Chay's personality is framed to be milder than Porsche, as someone who’s not a fighter, as someone who's more optimistic, and as someone whose instinct it is is more to call for help than try to fight off an enemy. Barcode's take on this character is a lot more docile (in the beginning, at least), naively bold when compared to the book character, and he doesn't have much of the spunkiness that Porsche has, yknow?
Again, on paper not that big of a change in the long run, but a noticeable one nonetheless.
In episode 5 when Chay talks of his admiration to Kim, he states that he wants to be more like Porsche, and one of Porsche's most defining characteristics is his fighting skills. It's due partly to his fighting prowess that he's able to better enforce his boundaries with Kinn. It's an added asset for him, as it is for Pete to Vegas, but it’s not necessarily the only thing they both have going for them.
And yet, why doesn't Chay know how to fight? Why doesn't he seem to have the disposition for it? Was he never provided or had an opportunity to learn? Perhaps Porsche kept him from having to learn; this matches up with how overprotective he is of Chay, one could argue.
Again, because of how Chay's character is framed in the show, he doesn't have the brazen attitude that he shares with Porsche in the book (in fact, a few times Porsche even mentions how much Chay is like him); on the contrary, he's a lot more self-reflective in the show and quite thoughtful. This manifests itself in his natural talent when it comes to writing music, especially how he was able to write the 1st version of WDYS in Kim's studio.
Because of this notable change in Chay’s character in the show, the physical power imbalance between Kim and Chay is a lot more noticeable, hence why Kim’s potential aggression towards Chay is more keenly felt in the show (case in point: their bar scenes, lol), at least the way I see it.
For reals, I still question why they altered this part of the book characterization when they chose to adapt this IP. Lol
Imo, BOC discards Chay’s penchant for impulsiveness and brazenness (similar to Porsche when fighting an enemy off) in the book, but in turn, elevates his mental fortitude when he’s wronged. In the show, it’s definitely more a showcase of his inner strength and self-respect that he in particular was able to draw his boundaries against Kim (aka blocking his number, not picking up his call, etc), without ever having to physically fight him off, as opposed to Porsche and Pete.

THOUGHTS ON THE NEW PJO EPISODE
SPOILER WARNING FOR EPISODE 5 AND THOSE WHO HAVE NOT READ THE BOOK(S)
this is all out of order because I'm writing in the order that I'm remembering
SPIDERS:
as we saw, they cut the spider scene. that's what I was most excited about, but the throne made up for (and replaced) that moment adequately enough. it was a great show of Annabeth and Percy's character development, which I love.
what also replaced the spider scene was Annabeth already disappointing her mother. the point of this scene, besides introducing Annabeth's and other children of Athena's phobia of spiders, was to have Annabeth have her "disappointing Athena" moment. Now, it's been over two years now since I've read the original series, so correct me if I'm wrong, but Athena didn't have much of a reaction to Medusa's head being sent to Olympus (at least not in a way that interfered with the quest at that point.)
FATES:
another thing I've been waiting for. I think its interesting that Grover didn't see them, while Annabeth did. I do like the "they're watching us" part, as it applied to multiple situations.
1. the gods. they're always watching them.
2. the authorities, reporters, etc.
3. the Fates.
Grover being focused on the second reason because he's supposed to be the protector is something I find interesting. Annabeth watching the fates and agreeing to what Grover is saying: because she thinks he's seeing the same thing, or because she's so focused?
TUNNEL
when they jumped in the water, Annabeth yelled for Percy. At first, I had a moment similar to Nico in TTC: "Why would she yell underwater and waste her breath if she obviously can't swim/is drowning?" Then I realized it was a show of her trust in Percy. She wouldn't have risked actually drowning and dying if she didn't believe Percy could help her. But then, that confuses me at the next part where she's like, "Did you just pull me out of the water with your water powers etc. etc.?" Was she trying to cover up the fact that she can't swim or something? Too proud to thank him, so she changed the topic to his newfound powers? I don't know.
DID NOT EXPECT THE FIRST SEAWEED BRAIN DROP
side note: some time ago, I heard someone say that "seaweed brain" is the perfect ship name for Percy and Annabeth (imo anything is better than anussy lmao), Percy being the seaweed, Annabeth being the brain. I think it's cute, but I'm more partial to Percabeth.
The whole thing with Hephaestus was another show of Annabeth and Percy's becoming friends. Obviously, she called him a friend, but actions speak louder than words. STILL, in I believe one episode, she went from "careful" to "my friend." I know her aforementioned comment was a teasing one, but it still shows how far they've come.

Imperial Highway Columns
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A compilation of what we know and what we can speculate about this pair of statues that I tagged as Female Kossith/ Desire demon /Tevinter Warrior in the lore blog.
[This post belongs to the series “Analysis and speculation of Statues”]
Where do they appear?
These statues appear few times in DAI:
In the Fade, aligned with the colossus statue of Andraste [check The Raw Fade - Part 1].
In the Hissing Wastes in what seems to be a very old ruin that we don’t know its original purpose for sure, probably as old as Fairel’s Thaig [check Hissing Wastes: Venatori main camp].
In the Emprise du Lion, where it is explicitly said that it was conserved from the original design of the Imperial Highway [check Emprise du Lion: Pools of the Sun and  Sahrnia and surroundings]
And the Shattered Library, in particular at the entrance of the Inverted Ward [ check the Shattered Library; Inverted Ward]
Why they appear in those places?
If we remember the codex The Laws of Nature in the Fade, we can understand that the objects with the purpose of connection will appear in the Fade reinforcing such purpose. If the Imperial Highway helped to connect cities, it seems natural to have a reflection of it in this Shattered Library which also had a connection purpose: according to The Archivist’s words, cities were connected through records and elvhen through shared memories [let’s remember that the Shattered Library was originally too entangled with the Fade and may have some Fade-propierties such as reflecting parts of the Waking World].
That these statues appear in the Emprise du Lion is only natural and obvious: they are decorations of the ancient Imperial Highway that crossed this region.
Tumblr media
However, the presence of these statues in the Hissing Wastes is not that clear. The map of Thedas with the Imperial Highway seems to suggest that it reached deep into this zone but somehow, it disappeared [probably due to the same event that turned this green, forest-like zone into a barren desert, more details in Hissing Wastes: Venatori main camp]. Only a small bifurcation that dies soon into the region can be seen in the map. Considering that the Fariel’s dwarves developed a surface Thaig here, and were a house focused on runes [which were used in the construction of Kirkwall, read Kirkwall history and design for more details], potential trade relationships with Tevinter may have been established, and therefore, makes sense for the Imperial Highway to reach this place. For reasons unknown, it disappeared. Or as we see it in the game, they are underground, covered by sand.
Lore and design
I think that a reliable piece of lore we can grab for these statues is the one presented in Emprise du Lion: These statues are Tevinter-made, and are, in fact, the columns that have been decorating the Imperial Highway since a long time ago.
Tumblr media
It’s true that DAO showed to us a different Highway, a lot simpler, but I guess we can agree that the engine limitations worked against them.
So, if they are Tevinter-made, this means that the iconography they show belong to an ancient Tevinter perspective. This gives us the context in which we should be placing them: Ancient Tevinter, even though we know very little about it.  Let’s try to analyse each of them.
The man holding the sword
The statue of the Tevinter Warrior has the following details:
Tumblr media
Thanks to World of Thedas and Art of Inquisition books, we know that this figure--and that helm in particular--represents a Tevinter Warrior. There is also a chance for it to represent a Venatori warrior in particular. Since Venatori are extremist nationalists, their symbols are deeply entangled with Tevinter iconography so it is always difficult to separate what’s Venatori from what it is national design.
Tumblr media
His helmet has a spike that reminds Andraste’s helm as well. In the Fade they are aligned in a way that the game suggests the player to make that connection. But we also know that Mythal and Andraste are linked in the same fashion through a single-spiked helm, so the fact that a Tevinter warrior wears this helmet has equal chances to represent him as honouring Andraste or an Old God/Great Dragon as Mythal was.
A snake surrounds him.
His figure rests against a structure which is filled with thorns or spikes similar to the object I called “Tevinter artefact with spikes”.
On his back, he has more or less 10 skulls and long bones aligned as if he were resting against a backrest chair made of them.
Tumblr media
He holds a sword which hilt looks like a face in a triangular shape. It is not clear to me if this figure represents the Archon or something else. It may also be related to the dragon-like single face we find in Nation Art: Tevinter.
Tumblr media
In fact, that sword is the representation of Hessarian’s sword with which he killed Andraste out of mercy. We can see it in detail in the triptych I analysed in Andrastian Design: Tapestry and Tryptich. That the Tevinter warrior is holding the same sword related to the death of Andraste, may relate him to the Archon Hessarian, but also to the conversion that Tevinter had in that old time to the Andrastian’s Faith. If this Tevinter warrior represents a Venatori, as the books of Art and World of Thedas seem to suggest, it would be used as a symbol of the sword that killed Andraste who put in danger the faith of the Old Gods [we spoke about the context of Andraste’s Exalted March on Tevinter in the post “The Chantry and the Mythology of the Chant of Light”]. What annoys me of this interpretation is that we are assuming this sword is related to Andraste in a time when Andraste was still not born. The Imperial Highway had been developed long time before she began the Prophet of the Maker, so this sword should be related to Tevinter ancient symbols and not recent ones. So I’m assuming it may represent a national symbol of power of an Archon, or his hierarchy, therefore, it makes sense for Hessarian to use it during the burning of Andraste. What a I mean is, maybe this sword is an Archon symbol of power [as it is his rings] and it is as ancient as Tevinter itself.
If this sword represents the power or the hierarchy of an Archon, the fact that it is present in these statues implies that the Tevinter/Venatori Warrior is, in fact, an Archon. Or may represent the military power at the hands of the Archon in the Ancient Tevinter. As we can see, it’s not clear why this sword, with such a strong symbolism, is here and what it represents.
It’s also curious that the replica of this sword in DA2 [ Blade of Mercy], has nothing to do with this design.
The horned woman, or female kossith or potential desire demon
Tumblr media
She has horns. They don’t look like the same kind of horns we have seen in desire demons, which are longer and go backwards and then forward and have some complexity in their design. In fact, the base of her horns look more similar to Qunari’s [look at the Arishok]. These horns also look a bit similar to the ones we saw in the Viddasala or in the Tamassran in the comic. This is one of the main reasons why I always tended to think in it as a Kossith, and not a demon.
Tumblr media
She has pointy ears, which again, it’s not the design of the desire demons. I like to highlight that the fact that desire demons have rounded ears is not only present in DAO, but in DA2 [check the visuals of Xebenkeck, who shares their design]. It was in DA2 where the qunari began to show pointy ears. And it became a fact since in DAI and comics we have the reinforcement of these ears. Of course, Sten never had this design because DAO struggled with the design of the Qunari, their horns, and helms.
Tumblr media
On her chest and solar plexus there are thick lines that look like veins (of lyrium?). The symbol on her chest resembles the symbol on the chest we found on the main Old God statue in DAO during the Dalish origin [of course, we have to consier the limitations of that old engine]. To me it looks like a sketchy dragon shape. It may, potentially, have some relatinoship with the design of some Vallaslins [specially the ones related to Dirthamen and Falon’Din, which makes sense if we remember that this statue in DAO represents Falon’Din. More details in Dalish Camp and Dalish Origin and Humanoid Dirthamen]
Her neck, head, and left shoulder show some tendrils or texture similar to the one that chastely covers her breasts.
Tumblr media
The "thing” around her horns and ears look very similar to the red cord that the Viddasala wears. To me, it is not clear if the statue has some decorative cords there, or it’s part of the strange textures attached to different parts of her body, or it’s a relief that belongs to her horns.
There is a long object that comes out from her legs. It seems to be a snake with a rhomboid scale pattern. It’s not clear if that snake covers her or is being born from her.
Her figure rests against a structure which is filled with thorns or spikes similar to the ones in the object I called “Tevinter artefact with spikes”.
Elements common to both
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They are not two different statues put together, but one; each of them resting on the back of the other and wrapped with the same snake. Both rest their backs against an element with spikes [a thorny thick vine?] that resembles a lot the spikes of a Tevinter artefact I called “Tevinter artefact with spikes”. I never could speculate its function.
The snake keeps them in place and wrapped. The snake seem to come out from her groin, so there is meaning in it: she may be giving birth to the Snake, which wraps and keeps in place her figure and the Tevinter Warrior’s. A potential interpretation is that she represents the “Mother of Tevinter”, as important as the military army of Tevinter in the development of the Empire. Or she is deeply “entangled” with the military army of Tevinter [bound spells? Sacrifice for Blood Magic? Slavery?]
Since the snake comes from her and restrains both figures to one another, another interpretation is that through her, Tevinter may have acquired the ability of “binding spells” for military, expansionist purposes considering how much this magic is related to demons, Kossith, Tevinter, and blood magic mixed with Dragons and/or reptiles [check the implications of Tevinter having potentially created the race of the Qunari in Tevinter Mosaics, or the potential of having bound Hakkon to a Dragon in Frostback Basin [DLC]: Ancient Tevinter presence, Speculation].
Both figures are only directly associated with the codex Judicael's Crossing in Emprise du Lion: “Judicael's Crossing's structural supports bear architectural and decorative elements that mimic those of the ancient Tevinter highway it replaced. One can see their like several miles away in the archways rising above the village of Sahrnia. The Andrastian statues that decorate the walkway, however, are entirely Orlesian in style.”  This is the main source I use to assume these statues belong to the Imperial Highway as decorative columns that support it. And I trust that the resconstruction of the archways preserved the statues since their reflection in the Fade are exactly the same.
Thanks to the excavation in Hissing Wastes: Venatori main camp, we can relate this pair of statues to the lids of Razikale Ceremony lid and the Horned warrior holding a sword lid too. I already did a long analysis of these lids, and related them to elvhenan in the post Razikale Ceremony and Dumat’s Warrior tablets. They seem to coincide with the hypothesis I’ve been working on for a while in the comic section of the blog, where I have the impression that Tevinter worshipped their own version of ancient gods which Elvhenan worshipped before becaming divine through the stealing of power from Dragons and/or Titans.
Thanks to the Shattered Library; Inverted Ward, we can see their base: they seem to stay onto a small mountain/hill decorated with skulls.
Speculation section
Considering we established already that this pair of statues are of Tevinter origin, more precisely, related to the Imperial Highway, we should be able to develop speculations within the context of the Ancient Tevinter. My goal is to explain what they may represent that gave Tevinter so much pride to repeat it in each column that decorated the Highway all across Thedas.
Tumblr media
Two things are of importance to keep in mind when we analyse this:
This is from the time of Ancient Tevinter. The construction of the Imperial Highway was made a long time before the First Blight. We know that part of the stone used to built it was mined by slaves in Emerius [the old name that used to have Kirkwall, details in Kirkwall history and design].
The Highway was used to deliver supplies to far away Tevinter outposts [like in Frostback Basin [DLC]: Razikale’s Reach], as well as to extend their imperial power over the South and to favour businesses with Dwarves.
Speculation 1: She represents a desire demon or a Forbidden One, and the snake that she is giving birth is a representation of how deals with demons helped Tevinter to become an expansionist empire [ check the myth of the Chantry in Threonides 6 from Chant of Light - Part 1, and codices found in Kirkwall, detailed in the post Tarohne, the Fell Grimoire, and Xebenkeck], but also “restrained” or locked it into the deal that was made. The snake may also represent the powerful magic of binding demon that Tevinter used to have and abuse. This magic can be seen in Corypheus and his deep knowledge of how to bind demons to Grey Warden and control the Wardens in the processs.
The Tevinter Warrior represents Tevinter military power, which became more powerful as they added the knowledge of the blood magic school that these demons taught them. It was also thanks to this magic/deal that Tevinter developed into a sucessful expansionist empire up to the First Blight.  The Tevinter Warrior may also represent a Venatori, implying that this radical group existed since ancient times [I don’t think we have lore to support this interpretation, however]
PROS
The man in the sculpture represents a generic Tevinter Warrior, mostly a symbol of the military power of an expansionist Empire. We must remember these sculptures appear in the Imperial Highway which was a construction that allowed Tevinter to expand and conquer the South and deliver supplies to its outposts. It was through the military aspect that Tevinter invaded and slaved the Alamarri tribes spread all over the South region. So, it makes sense for the main means that allowed the expansion to be represented in a construction that connected the Empire with the invaded regions. This interpretation about the Tevinter Warrior is valid for both speculations.
If she is a demon, it makes sense for her to appear in Tevinter iconography, since we know with some degree of reliability that humans learnt complex Blood magic from demons [read Tarohne, the Fell Grimoire, and Xebenkeck] but we also know that this magic may come from the Elvhenan. We also know that, from all the nations of Thedas, Tevinter is the main one using this school of magic in a regular, yet non-open, way. That she is represented in the Highway may be a symbol of power, a symbol of how she was the means that allowed all what represents the Tevinter Warrior to have power to conquer almost all Thedas in ancient times.
CONS
That the Tevinter Warrior may represent an ancient Venatori seems unlikely, because we don’t have any proof of this group and its activity in ancient ruins, and we explored a lot of them in Western Approach and Hissing Wastes. We don’t know how old Venatori are.
Design counter-argument: If she is a demon, her ears are pointy, which is not the case of desire demons [the kind of demon she resembles the most]. Her horns also differ a lot from the ones that desire demons have.
As I was corrected in the comments, it is true that Tevinter not always hid its use of blood magic [related to the cult of the Old Gods/dragons] and demons. However, when the nation converted to the Andrastian faith, after Andraste’s death, it turned into a “secret” that only happened within closed door. In this case, one would expect images of demons as prolific as the images of Dragons in Ancient Tevinter ruins or Tevinter design/style.  However, so far I know, I never saw Tevinter art related to demons, since they may have been seen mostly as Corypheus sees them [implied in the way Corypheus taught Venatori and Grey Warden to bind themselves to them]: mere tools to use, pretty much as the elvhen slaves, which also have no central position in any piece of Tevinter art we saw. So I still think it is odd for Tevinter to openly represent a “dischargeable tool”, something with no value to them, in the Highway, so openly [especially because we have no other examples of demon representations in Tevinter art too].
Speculation 2: The Tevinter Warrior representation holds the same as in the previous speculation. What I change in this second attempt to explain these statues is the female figure: She is a Qunari or a prototype of a Qunari, aka a Kossith, who was used in the development and creation of the Tevinter empire, in the same way as Tevinter Warriors in their military army.
PROS
Her horns and pointy ears are closer to what we have seen in the Qunari design since DA2 than to a desire demon design.
We have been hinted by some characters along the games that Kossith existed and may have been a bit different to the modern Qunari.
Lore-wise, we know that Tevinter used Qunari as slaves and sacrifices in ancient times, according to the Tevinter Mosaics. They were so proud of them that the  Qunari ancestors were depicted in these mosaics [in particular in “Sacrifice”] with the detailed face of important magisters.
Through the Tevinter Mosaics, we had speculated that the Qunari seem to be a crafted race by Tevinter [details in Frostback Mountains: Somewhere North], with the purpose of being powerful sacrifices and strong slaves. As such, they may have been, in the beginning, a symbol of what Tevinter could do with its deep knowledge of the arcane, and therefore, a craft they were proud of. Something happened later that made this pride vanish, hence the “corrections” or erasure of horns in these Mosaics. Corypheus also shouts to a Qunari Inquisitor “your race was a mistake”, which seems to fit this idea of Tevinter being proud of their creation but then, after some unknown event [rebellion?], feeling shame of it.
Also, if the Qunari were depicted in the Mosaics without shame [until later, where some horns were erased and appeared some signs of disapproval about them] it makes sense for them to appear in the Highway. As a [potentially] crafted race they were proud of, which helped them to acquire power for expansion and conquer.
CONS
The presentation of the qunari in the Tevinter Mosaics has been done after the First Blight or so [we assume this because the set of mosaics also depict scenes of the Chant of Light and the Magisters being burnt, so the event of stepping into the Black City may have happened after this artist made these mosaics, and also after the blame on Tevinter about the spread of the Blight was installed in the population]. The Imperial Highway is older than the Blights, so the only speculation we can make to keep things consistent is that Qunari [or Kossith] were immensely important in the development of Tevinter since the time of the Neomerian empire but, for some reason, the only old depict we have of them is the one presented in these mosaics. Maybe in DA4, travelling to Tevinter, we will have access to ancient Tevinter information that may enlighten this speculation.

Five Wrong Theories In The Sun Formation and Nature (2)
2nd Wrong Theory / The Sun Produces A Gravitational Field
The Physics Book tells (The Sun Creates A Gravitational Field)-  WRONG
The Sun Does NOT Create A Gravitational Field
PROVES
(1)
The Sun Rotation Period is (25.4 days at equator) and (34.4 days at pole), that proves the sun has NO massive gravity (even NOT have strong gravity to rotate in one period as any planet)
(2)
The gravitational waves are produced by the planets motions energies and NOT BY any gravitational field
Let's prove that -
Any moving body produces energy (1/2 mv^2), but where's Planet Motion Energy? The planet can't store its motion energy in its body otherwise it would raise this planet temperature- logically- the planet motion energy must be stored in the space in waves form.
The space is similar to the sea of water- the planet motion energy creates waves in the space (as the fish motion creates waves in the sea)- The planet motion energy is stored in these waves – the space waves are typical to the sea waves – these waves move far from its source and can be reflected.
The scientists discovered these space waves and they called them (the gravitational waves) supposing these waves are produced by the gravitational field – but- in fact- these waves are produced by the planets motions energies
(3)
Because the gravitational waves are produced by planets motions, and because the energy is reflected in the solar system- the planets data is reflected one another- for example (Venus orbital inclination =3.4 deg and Pluto orbital inclination =17.2 deg) where (sin 3.4 = (1/17.2))– now let's see more reflected data
(i)
My fifth equation tells (v1v2=constant) – let's prove that
Data
322 = 47.4 km/s (Mercury velocities)  x 6.8 km/s  (Uranus velocities)
322 = 35 km/s  (Venus velocity) x 4.7 km/s (Pluto velocity) x 2
322 = 29.8 km/s (the Earth velocity) x 5.4 km/s (Neptune velocities) x 2
322 = 24.1 km/s (Mars velocity) x 13.1 km/s (Jupiter velocity)
322 = (17.9 km/s)^2 (Ceres velocity) (Max error 2%)
Discussion
Because the planets velocities depend on the constant (322), that proves the velocities are reflected on one another-
(ii)
The planets order
The inner planets order (Mercury- Mars- Venus- The Earth)
The order tells greater diameter needs greater orbital distance
The outer planets (Jupiter – Saturn- Uranus- Neptune- Pluto)
The order tells greater diameter needs shorter orbital distance
The orders are reflected
(I proved Mars original orbit was between Mercury and Venus)
(4)
Let's ask (why is the data reflected one another?)
We agreed the planet motion energy creates waves in the space- now
All planets revolve around the sun in the same one direction, for that, All planets motions energies waves move to Pluto (perpendicularly on the revolution direction)
Then the energy wave is reflected from Pluto toward Venus
This reflection of energy caused the planets data to be reflected
That proves the gravitational waves are produced by the planets motions energies and not by any gravitational field
Thanks – please read

Boardroom Finally getting to the heart of this case! The station’s security system has been tampered with, and the intruder neutralizing weapons are on standby. It's time to use the A-mazing Deluxe A Button Beam to find out the truth behind the brainwashed Morolians!
Act. 1 Shooting The rhythm is pretty easy to follow and there’s none of those annoying, problematic back-to-back sets. If you’re aiming to recuse everyone in Report 4 in the shortest time possible, just make your ratings are at 88 ~ 89% when this Act. ends while playing in Extra Mode and you’ll be good, good, good!

Act. 2 Dance The BGM slows down for the 6th set, which can trip you up. If you treat as still having an 8 beat rhythm, you can hit the buttons on what would be the 1st, 3rd, and 5th beats. Two notes for Extra Mode: enter this Act. with the ratings below 89%, and you'll get to save the Channel 5 Security Robots; end this Act. with the ratings above 89%, and you’ll head to the Recording Studio..

Column: Mysterious Man Space Michael
The Incident 500 Years Ago Was Also a Game! Space Michael is a reporter for Space Channel 5. He's a very cool guy who's traveled freely throughout the eras with his special ability to transcend space and time. He's charmed and saved countless people with his unique dance moves. Back in the year 1990, or about 500 years ago, there was another great crisis that nearly ended the world. His dance moves saved the world back then too. That incident in 1990 was also made into a game that same year!
Inside Scoop Behind Michael Jackson's Cameo Michael Jackson loved the demo of "Space Channel 5" when the Sega staff showed him. So much in fact, that he said, "I want to be in this game!" That marked the origin of Space Michael being in the game. Since the game was already in its final stages of development, he would only have a small role in it, but he still readily agreed to it. The game left such a good impression, that he dubbed the lines, "Ho!" and, "Thank you Ulala," himself. Later on, he sent his autograph to SEGA 9 Labs with the comment "I love the game."

In this action game, Michael's spectacular dance moves are used to defeat the approaching enemies. When Michael takes a step, the enemy falls down after dancing, and the children are freed. Even Bubbles makes a brief appearance! Incidentally, there was also a movie with the same name.

Control Room This is the part where you can free all the Morolians you’ve encountered during these past, amazing, reports. Best find a way to hold that controller comfortably, there’s a lot of buttons presses here and we don’t your fingers getting too tried, do we?
Act. 1 Dance It’s a bit dark, so it may be kinda hard to see the Morolians’ dance moves. But the sets are short, just listening to their voice should be enough. Most of the commands use the A button, so you really only need to focus on the timing. The back-to-back sets are pretty trick though, like a test of your rhythm skills.

p. 93
Act. 2 Shooting Making a mistake here won’t change a thing. By the 2nd set, the number of A button inputs needed will increase with each successive set. Sans the last set, the Morolians always appear on both sides of the screen, the timing for their inputs mirror each other too. Focus on how fast and many times you gotta press that A button! Count carefully and don’t over-press!

Column: Illustrated Guide for Those Aiming for 100%: Best Route & Rescue Points To unlock all the character profiles, you need to pay attention to the stages Ulala will go through, and which character will appear there. We recommend using this route guide for success. During the 6th route, make sure to adjust the ratings to about 85% before entering the 3rd round of reports. For the 7th, lower it down to 75% before proceeding to the 8th route. When nearing the end of 8th route, raise it back to 90% and prepare for the Recording Studio for the 9th route. If you can rescue all the different characters in these places, you should be at 100%. By the way, you can save the elusive men, women, and boys in large numbers in certain areas. The following is for your reference.

[Translator’s note: Men, Women, and Boys Frequently Appear Here! originally lists “Lobby 1F - Act. 1” and “Lobby 2F – Act. 2, Act. 3.” Act. 1 and Act. 3 of those respected areas do not align with the topic at hand so I assume these were errors and corrected them as such. It wouldn’t be the first time they listed the wrong Act. for a description. Sorry about the plain text formatting for this part.]

Recording Studio This area can instantly transform into various sets. The dark colors and bright lights make for an intense atmosphere that muddles the difference between Morolians and Earthlings while shooting! Time to lean in more than usual!
Act. 1 Shooting Assuming you’ve been batting a 1000 with rescuing all different kinds of Earthings, you just gotta save the two newscasters here. Regardless of any mistakes made, they will always show up during the final set. If the studio’s bright lights make it difficult to see the Morolians, be sure to listen closely to their voices!

p. 95
Act. 2 Shooting Their distance paired with the dark stage makes it difficult to distinguish the Earthlings and the Morolians from each other. Luckily the Morolian’s ray guns shine bright against the darkness, so use the A button for those who glow and B for those who don’t. Make mistakes in the first two sets, the Channel 5 Staff will appear during the 3rd.

Act. 3 Dance For the 9th set, you can feel that wait between the "↓" on the 2nd beat "↑" on the 4th beat. But it still may feel jarringly shorter compared to the Morolian’s dance. On the 10th set, don't miss inputting the "↓" after the long wait between the 2nd and 4th beats! With so many complicated combinations of directional inputs, be sure to refer to this page to make sure your combo is right!

Column: Ulala's Shocking Report!? If you fail the final shots at the end of Report 4, the antenna will fall apart and the show will be cancelled. Ulala's "nah" paired with her expression is rumored to be the most adorable thing ever. A must-see!
p. 96
Main Antenna VS Evila and Giant Evila Versus Evila and her band of Security Robots, a mirror-match dance battle to see who's funky dance groove is superior! Is defeat inevitable!? Not only that, but the director has been taken hostage!
Act. 1, Act. 2 For the latter half Act.1, the key to victory is getting down the timing of those "pauses." You should get in the habit of saying "unun unun" to the beat, especially for the 9th and 10th sets. Act.2 has tons of back-to-back inputs. Even so, don’t rush yourself, you might end up pressing the wrong buttons. There's half-beat "uns" that you have to get spot on too!
Evila Height: About the same as Ulala Weight: About the same as Ulala Special: Same dancing abilities as Ulala
A.K.A.: An artificial reporter, whose sole purpose for reporting is earning ratings. Created by Morolian tech and data collected by Blank.
p. 97
Giant Evila Height: 164.8 Morometers (Est.) Weight: 10,300 Morograms (Est.) Special: Missile attack
The second fake Ulala robot. The Morolians were allowed to create whatever they pleased. Blank controls it as if it were a giant robotic pet.
Act. 1, Act. 2, Act. 3, Act. 4 Here Ulala must copy the opposite of what is said. In other words, if Giant Evila says “left chu” you go “right chu.” In Act. 1, there are more hearts than sets here, so use that an opportunity to get used to her pattern. The patten is irregular, but the rhythm and commands themselves are pretty easy. By the 4th set in Act. 3, it get a little difficult to keep your rhythm as the BGM fades out. If you want, you can try humming to the commands to stay on beat. By the way, once the chorus starts you'll be able to put inputs for Ulala again as usual, no need to go with the chorus's rhythm. *The commands listed below show what is needed to be inputted by Ulala.
p. 98
VS Blank At last, Blank's true brainwashing signal robot reveals itself. When it transforms, it becomes a powerful foe, attacking Ulala with its quick, bold dance moves. It's time for all of us to join forces and shoot down the greatest evil in the galaxy!
Act. 1 Blank and Ulala's faces will appear on the monitors above, below, left, and right of Blank. If it’s Blank, press the A button to attack, and if it's Ulala press the B button for the rescue beam! The 11th set of The Blank Dimension is tricky. Stay calm and wait for those one and half beats!
p. 99
Act. 2 Last stage incoming! There's only a few inputs and the rhythm is easy, your real enemy here is the tension. Still, avoid tripping over your own feet here, you only have so many hearts to spare. Don't be overwhelmed by Blank TV's dynamic dance, carefully listen to his voice and fight back!
Blank TV Height: About 37 meters (monitor form) /About 58 meters (humanoid form) Weight: 8350 kilograms (monitor and humanoid form) Special: Brainwashing beam, Blank Dimension
Blank TV attacks with 60 times its normal power insides the mysterious "Blank Dimension" it creates. It can also transform between the monitor form and the more puppet-like form.
Last Shooting! Earthlings who were forced to dance, reporters who were treated like tools, Morolians who were manipulated… All of their Dance Energy is gathering into the antenna! Just like the past final shots, press A powerfully three times, "Chu! Chu! Chu!" Let's finish this off with a bang!
Column: Blank's Last Stand Did you notice that once you defeat Blank TV, the last line he says is "I’ll be baaaack," but in the Extra Mode it's "You'll regret thiiiis"? Maybe Blank is hinting at even more extra stages existing after this! (A lie)
[Translator’s notes: Blank literally says “See you next week” in Japanese. “I’ll be back” is what he says in the English version. By the way, in Part 2, Purge says the same lines.]
