37. SAN MARINO: I’m sorry but “I can smell you like an animal”......WHAT. I literally have no other comment. Also the audience is completely dead and that’s pretty telling lol.

36. ICELAND: This is so boring to me, there is literally nothing special about it. The more I listen to it the more I dislike it (I’m so sorry for the tone Diljá I'm sure you're lovely!!!! I just don't like your song)

35. BELGIUM: I’m sorry but my dislike for this song is sooo strong lol. It reminds me of early 00’s but not in a fun, nostalgic way. There’s just not much for me in this song.

34: SWITZERLAND: Switzerland just can’t stop sending boys singing ballads lol. Sometimes they hit (Gjon's tears my beloved) and sometimes they don’t, which is the case this year. Good vocals but such a boring song.

33: ALBANIA: This is not my thing, but I appreciate the ethnic elements.

32: MOLDOVA: Cool ethnic elements but this is not something I listen to, at all. I really wish I liked this more than I do.

31: POLAND: In a year filled with many girlbosses girlslaying, this girlboss is sadly girlslaying the least (well, maybe Iceland is worse). And the music video is somehow giving me 2014 American YouTuber (?) vibes to me, in a bad way lol. But it is catchy, so there's that.

30: IRELAND: This is sooooo safe and generic. I like the pre-chorus but other than that this feels so boring. Come on Ireland, send something interesting for once.

29: PORTUGAL: I love a good traditional song, but this just isn’t really my thing. But Portuguese is so beautiful.

28: ISRAEL: Im sorry but I CAN'T take a song with the lyric “I got the power of a unicorn” seriously. Also I feel like I’ve heard a song like this on the Eurovision stage many many times. Let’s just hope they won’t bring out the unicorn/centaur hybrid on stage…

27: AUSTRALIA: This is fun! Is it good? That can be discussed. And what’s with the lyrics? Are we playing never have I ever?

26: FRANCE: I saw a comment somewhere saying that France sends the same song every year, and you know what? They are right (except last year Alvan & Ahez ily). I skip this song pretty much every time it comes on my esc playlist. I just find it boooring. Good vocals though.

25: GEORGIA: The chorus is good, the verses are bad. Just doesn’t stand out to me. Good vocals though. I miss Circus Mircus so much💔

24: ROMANIA: I hate to say it, but this song is catchy as hell. Some parts of the song are actually really good and some are terrible lol (like that high note I desperately wish he could hit).

23: UNITED KINGDOM: At first listen I really liked this but after a few listens I found it pretty boring, especially after the first chorus, I just want to skip to the next song. It’s a good song but doesn’t really excite me nor does it stand out.

22: SWEDEN: Not me putting Loreen so low🤭 But this is… underwhelming. I like the chorus and her vocals are amazing, but this song doesn’t do anything for me. It’s just boring. Will it win? Probably.

21: ARMENIA: This song makes me laugh because it literally reads like a tumblr post. Oh, you want to read books, make art and visit old bookstores? Ok girlblogger. The song is pretty weird, the (rap?) bridge comes out of nowhere and chorus is repetitive (ok I GET IT, you decide to be good, do good and look good). The last 30 seconds are great though, I wish she would sing the whole song in Armenian.

20: GERMANY: The German accent :’) I’m just happy Germany sent something original, and it’s catchy as hell! Not really my thing though, but I can really appreciate it.

19: SERBIA: The “hello?” reminds me of Shane Dawson for some reason and it’s pretty off putting LOL. Other than that this song is pretty cool! I love the instrumentals and visuals. My boyfriend says Luke Black looks like he plays League Of Legends so there's that.

18: CYPRUS: This is good but doesn’t stand out. Some parts are really good (like the pre chorus and bridge) but some are forgettable.

17: GREECE: The way I would eat this up when I was 17… Sadly not quite as much at 24. But it’s still pretty good and I feel like it will be a grower on me.

16: MALTA: This feels different from what Malta usually sends and I like that! I love a funky saxophone so this is pretty good to me.

15: SPAIN: I have such mixed feelings about this song. I can listen to it and love it and the next time I’m not so sure. It’s interesting for sure! And her vocals are amazing.

14: CROATIA: TRACTOR! This is so funny and catchy, the most unique song of the year for sure.

13: DENMARK: This is soooo cringey but sadly a guilty pleasure of mine. The autotune really put me off at first but now I like it. I like the song okay? Put me behind bars.

12: ITALY: This has definitely been a grower for me, at first I thought it was meh and didn’t stick out to me at all. But after a few more listens it has really grown on me! The pre-chorus is so good, but it’s not one of the best Italian entries there is.

11: UKRAINE: Greaaaat song!! It feels different in a good way, definitely a breath of fresh air.

10: AZERBAIJAN: Maybe this years most unpopular opinion, but this is GOOD, ok?? This song reminds me of spring and it feels like it belongs to the soundtrack of a 00’s romcom.. And the rap parts are really good, I won’t accept any questions about this right now.

9: LITHUANIA: This is really good and I’ve listened to it a lot. Love the lithuanian chorus and I loooooove her orange outfit. And omg her VOCALS!! I’m scared it won’t make it far in Liverpool though :(

8: NETHERLANDS: This song took me a few listens but now I’m hooked. The power ballad duet we all needed. In an ocean of upbeat songs this song is a nice calm break.

7: NORWAY: VOCALS!! So good. So catchy. Great performance. Amazing outfit. Just really really good overall.

6: AUSTRIA: This so soooo fun and catchy and good. I LOVE IT!! There are a lot of upbeat pop songs this year but this is for sure one of the best ones. Excited to see what they will do on stage.

5. ESTONIA: LOVE this!! I’m hooked from the first bar. I feel like it should play in a scene in a movie where the main character is sitting at a cafe, looking out the rainy window, thinking about all the people who wronged them. It’s just a powerful song.

4. LATVIA: Love this so much. The chorus hits me every single time. PLEASE DONT WAKE UP WAKE UP!!

3: FINLAND: This song just has it all; rock, pop, lyrics everyone can sing along to, male titties. If you don’t go ape shit crazy while listening to this song then I don’t know what to tell you… SO! GOOD!

2: SLOVENIA: I’ve been hooked on this song since the first listen, I keep trying to sing along as if I knew slovene. This is just so good, the vibe, the instrumentals, I just want to DANCE!

1: CZECHIA: This songs chorus makes me absolutely sob, the SISTERHOOD of it all. The costumes, the four different languages, the meaning…This is my absolute favourite of the year, in a perfect world it would win it all. I just hope they nail the live performance because the national final was not very good… I hope they bring the elements (and budget lol) of the music video to stage, I'm obsessed with their costumes.

Obey Me Character Song Thoughts

***DISCLAIMER: These are my blind reactions to the song. They're my opinion and based off of my personal taste in music as well. You are free to agree or disagree with them as you please, just please no hate***

Lucifer / Arcadia :

Surprisingly, I really like the music in this. I don't usually like electronic music, but this one was nice. His voice isn't my favourite, but is still good. NOW THE LYRICS!! Oh dear. Oh my. Oh boy. I was not expecting to catch feelings for Lucifer today, sir. How dare you do this to me. Update: I just got to the second verse...He's a yandere. He is fucking yandere. He's still so full of himself as usual and I WANT TO PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE BUT I ALSO WANT TO KISS HIM GAAAAAAAH!!!!! LUCIFER YOU ASSHOLE! UPDATE UPDATE: FINAL VERSE! AND THEN THE PRICK GOES BACK TO BEING A ROMANTIC CHARMING LITTLE SHIT 😡😣😖 Final thoughts: I- I- this whole song was a rollercoaster. I love to hate lucifer and hate to love him. I really do. This song embodied that perfectly. I did enjoy the song though.

Mammon / Are You Ready? :

Opening thought. I am not ready. Very not ready. Mammon is amazing in that art 😍.

Okay, now being serious, I'm sorry Mammon. I adore you to BITS, like so so so much. But this is exactly the kind of EDM that I despise. BUT, I bore through it and kept listening. I don't hate his voice, but he's sing talking. He's not quite rapping, he's sing talking. So it's meh. FUCKING UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE: THE CHORUS!!!! THE MF CHORUS!!!! HE SINGS! HE CAN ACTUALLY SING (still not best but pretty good)?! AND THE MUSIC SOUNDS SO MUCH BETTER THERE WHEN IT'S SLOW- ... ... ... the auto-tune on his voice on that English line 😤 WHY?!! I WAS JUST GETTING INTO IT!!!

Lyrics time: Honestly, it feels like Mammon got drunk, picked up a mic and started singing to MC, and I mean that in the best way possible. He's being honest in a way we've never seen him be honest before, and he calls himself a tsundere 😂 I love it.

Now the chorus lyrics: I love the chorus. It's so Mammon and just perfect. I love it. The lyrics just- *sighs* it's that possessive side of him that makes him the dork that he is. Okay. t-the lyrics...the lyrics also give me MAJOR suggestive vibes and I'm just here like 😳😳😳 MaMmOn PlEaSe WhAt ArE YoU DoInG?!

Final thoughts: The lyrics are also quite repetitive, which is another pet peeve of mine. All in all, it's not bad. It's just not for me. I'm so sorry Mammon 😭😭😭 That being said, I think it suits Mammon fairly well. Not perfectly, but good.

Leviathan / My Chance:

Opening thoughts: THIS TITLE IS SO CUTE AND IT'S PERFECT FOR HIM uwu Also, the vintage game-esque music is just perfect for Levi's aesthetic. Like, the light piano mixed with it gives me Undertale vibes?? Even before he starts singing, I just think it's really cute and it makes me want to hug him. Again, I'm not in love with his voice, but it's still nice. I do enjoy it.

Lyrics: LEVI BABY ARE YOU OKAY?! SOMEONE GET THIS MAN A THERAPIST 😭😭😭

Chorus: It's so sad, but this is Levi's reality. This song embodies him and everything he is so so so well. It really is perfect for him. But seriously bro. Let me hug you. And then we're gonna work on your self-worth issues because oh boy That last verse though. Oh my goodness 🥺🥺 It is the very definition of pining.

AND THEN THE FINAL CHORUS!!! HE'S BEING SO HONEST ABOUT HIS ANXIETY AND I JUST- 😭😭😭😭 LEVIIIIIIIIII!!!

Final thoughts: *clears throat, wipes tears that are totally not there* Right. So it's obvious that I enjoy this one. It just screams Levi and suits him so well and it also just breaks my heart so...yeah.

Satan / Read My Heart:

The piano. THE 👏 FUCKING 👏 PIANO 👏 So beautiful! The fact that his song is so soft and slow when he himself is meant to represent something so strong and violent is simply poetic. There are moments where I love Satan's singing voice in this and there are moments where I don't like it as much. HIS VOICE IN THE CHORUS IS MY FAVOURITE 😭 So sweet. So just- I love him. I love him so much.

Lyrics: So honest, but I feel that this is almost like a letter from Satan of all the things he wishes he could say. Also, remember that dork who can't say love words out loud headcanon we talked about earlier today? He literally confirms here 🥰🥰 Aww Satan

Chorus: AGAIN! SO HONEST WITH HIS FEELINGS AND HIM TRYING TO KNOW HIMSELF 😭😭😭 It's just so beautiful Stunning. I love it. This one hits all the markers for me. I'm calling it now. I think his lyrics are my favourite, and possibly my favourite song in general. It's just such a beautiful love song. Filled with what he so desperately desires but also his fears and it's so honest it hurts.

Final thoughts: This one made me cry. Like, literally made me cry. It was just so beautiful and perfect. I mean, there's a sad line that uses cats as a metaphor 😭 It's fantastic. Amazing. I can't praise it enough. Where I feel everyone else so far (except poor Levi, poor baby) had something that implied...suggestive things, Satan is just so desperate for love. To feel and experience it and everything that comes with it, and it's just- I love it.

Asmodeus / Pomade:

I actually really really enjoy the music here. It's more pop than EDM and I appreciate that. It's nice. Asmo's voice is also really pleasant to listen to. There's just something about it. I like it a lot. When he holds his notes, it just has this amazing sound and I dunno. I just like it a lot! AND HIS FALSETTO!! HOLY SHIT! AMAZING

Lyrics: I mean... It's exactly what I'd expect from Asmo. It doesn't feel like it's being sung to the MC though. At least not at first. It almost feels like he's singing to an audience at the Fall or something.

Chorus: It's a little more personal, but I feel like we're still only getting that one side of Asmo. We're shown in the second season that he does have insecurities and that there's more to him than being self-obsessed, and I'm kind of disappointed that the song doesn't show that.

Second Verse: We're finally getting personal here. Okay. The table has been turned and now Asmo is finally talking about how he feels about MC and that's more I like it!

Final thoughts: Now that I've listened to the final verse and chorus, I GET IT NOW! It's a story. It's how Asmo first felt like all that was there for him and all he was made for was pleasing the audience. Then you came and it was just a game of trying to make you fall for him, just like he had been able to everyone else. And finally, him realizing that it's him who has become captivated by you and that he loves you! It's actually really sweet and I love that. Sound-wise, this song is fantastic! The music really compliments his voice and it all suits Asmo's character really well.

Beelzebub / Hungry Six-Pack:

So ya'll already know I adore Beel and this ROCK MUSIC AND HIS VOICE MADE ME SWOON! His voice! His voice is FANTASTIC! And the music IS AMAZING!!! I just love the guitar in it. It's (pardon me for this) it's just so damn sexy and I love it so much! THE BRIDGE OF THE SONG IS DAMN HOT OKAY?! I CAN'T GET OVER IT!

Lyrics: What I love about the lyrics is that they confirm my theory of Beel actually being physically impacted by his appetite. He says that it can cause him to get dizzy and I'm just here like 🥺🥺 We really get a sense here of how Beel is actually desperate to stop this appetite. He hates how it impacts him. He hates how it impacts those around him. And I just - 😭😭😭

Chorus: It fucking slaps! The up tempo is just *chefs kiss* and I love everything about it. And the words 😳 Damn Beel...Damn. i love him so much even though if you really think about it these words HURT

THE SECOND VERSE WITH DRUMS IN THE BACK JUST MAKES ME WANT TO JUMP AROUND IN A MOSH PIT! I LOVE THE SOUND OF THIS ONE SOOOOO MUCH! IT'S SO GREAT!

THEN IN THE LAST CHORUS WITH THAT HIGHER OPTION NOTE THAT HE HOLDS AND SHAKES AND I'M LIKE 😍😍😍 GOD I LOVE HIM SOOO MUCH

Final thoughts: As you can clearly see, I love this one. Now, lyrics-wise, I found a comment that really broke down the lyrics in terms of Beel's insecurity with his appetite and his sin and how he struggles with that and it made me appreciate the song all that much more and I just- I love this song. (The comment was left by Felix The Lemon on this if you don't understand the utter heartbreak of this song, please read this) Maybe it's my bias towards Beel. Maybe it's because it's rock. But this one, overall, is my favourite.

Belphegor / Dreamscape:

I love the almost lo-fi sound to it! It's perfect cause a lot of people use lo-fi to sleep. Very clever producers. Very clever. I both hate and love his voice at the same time and I DON'T KNOW WHY! Like it has a bit of a filtered sound to it, but what genuine sound I can hear through that filter is really really nice and I love it. I TAKE IT ALL BACK HIS VOICE IN THE CHORUS 😭😭😭 HE HAS MY FAVOURITE VOICE OF THE BROTHERS BY FAR! OH MY GOD IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL!

Lyrics: GAAAAAHHHHH!!!! I LOVE THEM SO MUCH! OKAY OKAY OKAY!!! So! These lyrics are so great because it's showing that soft side of Belphie that I adore! It's not his teasing side, it's the side that only Beel and MC really get to see and I just- I love it.

The whole "I will always wait for you" for some reason made me think of when he was stuck in the attic where literally the only thing he had to look forward to was MC coming to set him free and update him on how Beel was doing. And then afterward, he had to wait for them to be comfortable around him again because he knew that he messed up and he had to wait for their forgiveness. And then finally, Belphie has to wait for them to notice his feelings, amongst the obvious more showy feelings of his brothers and to hopefully maybe choose him 😭😭😭 SO GOOD

Second verse is his insecurities and I just ao;dusg;bfjnaduoh;szvbjxaui;dvkjx AAAAAAHHHHHHH I LOVE IT SO MUCH I CAN'T EVEN PUT IN TO WORDS!! WHY DO I LOVE THIS?!?!

FINAL THOUGHTS: THIS SONG ALONE HAS CAUSED ME TO FALL IN LOVE WITH BELPHEGOR ADU;SFBKJACDZS IT'S JUST SO PERFECT!!! His voice! The sound! The words! It has it all! I know I just said Beel's was my overall favourite, and I'm so so sorry Beelzebaby, but Belphie takes the cake. We get his anger, his sadness, his fondness, HIS DESPERATION, IT JUST HAS SO MUCH EMOTION!!!! I CAN'T GET OVER THIS SONG!

Because you have many lgbtq+ Ships, do you maybe know some mangas with actually lgbtq characters?

Yes, I do! There aren't a ton that suit my tastes out there, since a lot of manga that are actually lgbt are just focused on romance, which is very boring to me. But for questions like this, I always recommend No. 6.

I've done it more than a few times on this blog before, but I will do it again lmao.

It's older, the anime came out in 2013, but it's actually one of the first animes to feature a same-sex kiss. It's based off a manga which is based off a light novel. I'd say the manga has a FAR superior art style to the anime, but the anime is also very good and has wonderful colors, soundtrack, and generally it's just. It's really good.

It's set in a post-apocalyptic dystopia, about 100 years after nuclear war left only six spots on earth habitable. Leading scientists and politicians then decided to build six huge cities on those spots, burning down all the original forests and literally killing all of the natives, yknow, great stuff /s. They continue to be awful to the native population, experimenting on them to get the Magic From The Region etc it's pretty awful.

So the story is set in + around the 6th city. The main character, Shion, lived a rather priveleged life inside its Heavily Policed walls labeled as a gifted student until at 12 he meets Nezumi (literally Rat) who basically climbs in his window with a bullet wound and goes "hey yall just escaped from being experimented on let me sleep here or i'll kill you" and shion just goes "HOT" and lets him have a sleepover. Nezumi than Completely And Utterly Radicalizes him but has to flee the next morning.

The police find out about this, don't like it, he gets kicked out of the rich neighborhood and designated to trash duty lol. Yeah also then four years later parasitic bees start coming out of nowhere, (yeah) and Nezumi comes back gayer than ever and starts beating the shit out of police officers and yeets Shion. They become gay. Shion starts a life of crime. It is wonderful.

That's like, kind of a bad synopsis of everything that's going on in this show, here's some other points you might want to know:

-Nezumi literally does drag and I love that for him

-best dynamic aka aggressive one gets soft and soft one gets aggressive

-they have the cutest scene where Nezumi and Shion dance together it's so pretty and the music is so good

-obligatory character goes through traumatic event and comes out with white hair moment

-Shion has a GirlBestFriend who keeps trying to flirt with him and he's sooooo gay and she sooo does not get it

-um, the power of singing to bees i guess

-They have a really cool girl who's implied to be trans too so there's that, I love her so much

-there's a lot of lore that goes into this one, seriously it's so good and has all the right messages about stuff, yknow, it is a sci-fi fantasy and you have to take that into consideration but it genuinely talks about class stratification, mass incarceration, policing, government taking advantage of native lands and peoples, a lot of that heavy stuff

In general, it's kind of supposed to be a cute aesthetic show but it kind of went overboard with all the symbolism and like, as they should!

Black Lightning is the BEST WRITTEN Arrowverse show

They don't follow the whole monster/villain of the week thing and they come in chapters

Story is fleshed out, everyone has their own journey, their own stuff to deal with

And yeah that's sometimes (very) stressful, but that's what makes it a good story

The politics and social issues are honestly hurtful to watch because you can see it in real life

Esp the quarantine parts and the occupation? I almost quit because of that

Music is also good like srsly awesome song choices esp during fight scenes and stuff

Oh god the fight scenes too

That thundergrace apartment fight was def foreplay i need more

I love their costumes tbh, i keep imagining Cisco's delight when he meets Gambi

Not just the superhero costumes, okay? Even the civilian ones, esp the villains

Those rich fashion, very nice choices

Also obviously Anissa and Jen's wardrobe too

But the title cards are the best part just look at them

Let me talk about the characters now

Jeff Pierce is such a DAD and i remember that dad talk he had with Barry

I wish i seen more of him as a teacher/principal?

Black Lightning's a bit meh, for me. I think it is the generation gap and the fact that I like Lightning better

The visual effects they use on him, esp that one where he had lightning hoops? Very amazing

Next is Thunder, because I could write a whole essay on Dr. Lynn Stewart so I'll talk about her later

Right, anissa. Tbh i don't feel her that much? Maybe because she's been strong almost all season

She was like this pillar that was confident in herself, in her powers, in what she wanna do and who she wanna be with

Which is VERY AWESOME esp for a woman of color

But idk i just want my characters breaking down and stuff

Like Jen, like Lightning

Tbh I hate her superhero name because it's so similar to her dad

But anyway, i like Jen's journey the most

And. She. Is. The. Most. Powerful.

Period.

I want her to transform to pure energy again just so she can meet gideon and idk ask for make up tips

Her safe space thing actually reminded me of gideon's matrix so

Anyway, her and Khalil are just ugh

Let them be happy together !!!

Also, she and Brandon are just bros oki?

I do like the combination of their powers tho

Ask The Party God - Timeline

hi hi! as i mentioned earlier, i wanted to talk about my specific timeline so you guys are more or less aware of my situation when sending asks! thats me up there! the best doggy girl around ;o

as far as i am aware, theres not much of a difference between mine and... other timelines as far as the game goes! we beat sburb, we arrived to earth-c, we settled down, you know! the usual! i have my tower on a nice island, but its so far away from everything i barely go there, its... lonely!

i have a smaller house in the troll kingdom though! its a bit on the outskirts and like ten minutes away from dave and karkats, but i still crash at theirs or roses or roxys or johns way more often... X) its pretty standard all things considered, but i do have a bit of a basement lab to mess around with some side-projects of mine!

that aside... lets see...

thats john! my lovely ecto-bro! :D hes been a bit down in the dumps for a while so i try to cheer him up and keep him company <3 he lives in the outskirts of the human kingdom bordering with the consort kingdom, in a little mixed village... recently hes started to grow his hair out a bit too! i swear its just laziness so he doesnt have to take care of that messy mane, but i do think itd look cuter longer sooo...

he doesn’t... do much, which is why i have been trying to cheer him up and be around lately! he’s a bit more active at least and talks with the others, but i do wanna encourage him more >:/

5/8/20 edit: thats june egbert, my adorable ecto-sis whom i adore so so so so very much!!! weve been hanging out a bunch since her latest birthday!

shes been doing a lot better! more energetic, more open about the things that worry her... i only wish her the best of the best for the future, and im sure well be having lots of fun together from now on! :D

of course theres dave and karkat!!! they live together in the troll kingdom and have the moooost adorable domestic life i have ever seen, swoooon~ that being said theyre two awkward bottoms that couldnt realize their feelings even if they wrote a heartfelt love letter to each other and read it aloud, soooo its a... work in progress! i have tried nudging things along but thats an even worker in progresser, whoops

they also dont do much other than laze about most of the time, but dave has some creative side-projects with music and art that he shows me from time to time!

rose and kanaya maryam-lalonde!!! two absolutely lovely ladies whom i looove very very much! ;o their place is at the carapace kingdom, but kanaya spends a good deal of time in the brooding caverns as the matriarch of the troll race! i helped them install a transportalizer to speed things up so they have more time for each other, if you catch my drift ;)

about a year ago or so, rose got really sick for a short while, but she recovered and has been her usual lovely self since! since that scare though, they have been considering the idea of expanding their family! they could adopt of course, but they wanna try other stuff first! i occasionally help kanaya at the caverns with ectobiology machinery trying to find a way to properly mix troll and human genes, but its not exactly... easy

those are jane and jasprose! janes technically my mom but ive always seen her as a sort of cousin! we dont chat much but shes not bad! jasproses... well, you know! a wild kitty girl that knows how to have fun, hehehe, i hang out with her far more than my doggy alignment would have you know! ;o

a while back jane seemed pretty serious about running for office, and maybe because rose was in a bad spot or something, but jasprose started to pop up more and more often in public, and specifically messi around with jane? eventually she seemed to just lose interest in politics entirely and, while they havent said anything officially, i heard the cheshire cutie pops over by janes way too often to be just friendly visits ;o

roxy and callie!!! both of them came as non-binary around the same time, probably after talking it out for a while! hehe, rox has got that strider style going, and callie has been wearing their old wig more often in public! roxy and i have been messing around with their old lab equipment trying to give callie a fun surprise, but as it turns out messing around with basic biology with tech made to be used by 13 years old requires a looooot of tinkering... maybe some time?

i love them a bunch! theyre not really together i dont think so? but im pretty sure theyre more than just good friends that live together! im pretty sure callies still experimenting with identity and labels so, i wont pry really!

two cool dudes~ jake and dirk are nice, dirks a bit shy but ive gotten him to open up about robotics and we talk from time to time! jakes pretty much like jane, i pretty much see him as my cousin! we go hiking around from time to time in the weekends im not busy doing other stuff! :B

dirk got really concerned about rose when she had her episode, but dave helped him keep his cool about whatever was going down, and they hang out about once a month or so! also i was never sure whether dirk and jake USED to be dating or are STILL dating or whatever but, hey, much like with rox and callie, im not gonna pry!

tereziiiii :( shes away from earth-c plundering the corpse of paradox space! we barely see her but we keep in contact and send her supplies out into the furthest ring!

we worried for a bit that she was focusing too much on vriska and harming herself being out there, we kind of made it work in the end! some of our other friends are still out there and theres the possibility of finding some weird remnant of a timeline or something, so she keeps watch in case she can guide someone still living or trapped back to safety... and in the meantime she keeps watch for vriska, too, of course- ugh, i sorta just wish she got back already, im sure her being around would also encourage john to be more active! but as long as shes safe...

davepeta!!! the coolest cat around B) ive not... seen them in person since our little encounter near the green sun, but, terezi bumped into them a while back and sent a selfie! i dunno what theyre doing out there, but they mentioned about popping by earth-c eventually, sooooo, weve been holding onto a welcome celebration for a few months now!

and i think thats all? uuuh, if i can think of anything else i will add it, and you guys can ask me anything that wasnt clear or to elaborate on other stuff! hope this gives all of you a better picture of whats been going on in my life! :p

considering this is officially one of my top 3 favourite albums ever i’m v happy to 😌! warning, absolutely every single song will be ranked 10/10

thank for wanting to know my thoughts :( i can’t believe anybody would volunteer to read this JDNSKSDJKDS

first of all, my top 5 is probbbbably gonna change (maybe not tho bc my lover top 5 hasn’t really changed a lot), but for now, i think it’s: august > seven > mad woman > illicit affairs > mirrorball

THE 1:

ngl my very first thought was that it reminded me of same love by macklemore skdjdskjdskjsd but not in a bad way!

literally some of the prettiest lyrics, i knew just from this song that this would top red as her best lyrically (best album in general)

honestly just rly sad and sweet and one of those songs that has such a universal sound i feel?

also the simplest song of the album lyrically (also not in a bad way, just like objectively this is the easiest subject matter on the album with the least opaque lyrics), so a really good opener

best lyrics: “we never painted by the numbers baby but we were making it count/you know the greatest loves of all time are over now” and “we were something don’t you think so/roaring twenties tossing pennies in the pool/and it my wishes came true it would’ve been you”

a cute girl, 10/10

CARDIGAN:

i was surprised by the darkish sound of this one

idk what that like clanking sound in the background is but i find it a lil distracting in the first half of the song - but if i ever find out what it is and it has some symbolic meaning/purpose for being there (i assume it does) i’ll accept it sdjknsd

i love the nostalgia that is so present in like almost every song on this album :(

also the music video is stunning and frames the entire album in the most interesting way, metaphor-wise

THE LAST GREAT AMERICAN DYNASTY:

love this one bc it’s like a nice lil exhale in an album filled with angst, like it’s cute and boppy without being aggressive

i’m suddenly absolutely obsessed with rebekah harkness, particularly the “bitch pack” thing and her dyeing someone’s dog green

i love taylor’s storytelling and i love how that’s always been a big part of her approach to songwriting. this is taylor at her best narration, like starlight but so much better. this is a type of songwriting that is so underused these days, esp by mainstream artists and i love so much that she has always used it and been so invested in it

the pronoun change made me screech. sooo goooood

taylor’s obv a deeply autobiographical artist which is why it’s so incredible to hear her tell OTHER people’s stories and somehow make them so her own. like i think it’s mostly the english major in me that just gets so emotional over that...... the way that other people’s stories became our own through the way we tell them......

this song is def the one that is most explicit about the album’s theme of telling stories but ones that tell something about her (and about her listeners too), by switching to personal pronouns at the end. it sets up a pattern for the rest of the album, where each song is about one thing (the actual story she’s telling) but also about a bunch of other things.

a good example of why she’s the greatest songwriter of this generation

best lyrics: “there goes the maddest woman this town has ever seen/she had a marvelous time ruining everything”

EXILE:

bon iver’s voice was a full shock to the system the first time i listened and idk why sdkjnds it is just so deep and i was not at all expecting it esp after the cuteness of tlgad

anyway these lyrics are GORGEOUS

i love a duet where the 2 singers’ lyrics are meant to be directed at each other. is there a word for that type of duet idk but it always makes a duet infinitely better

the miscommunication exemplified in the bridge...... chef’s kiss heartbreaking

out of all the songs this is the one that makes me feel the most like i am in the middle of a forest in winter. i can already picture myself listening to this song in december with the sound of a crackling fire in the background mmmmmmmm my exact vibe

best lyrics: “you’re not my homeland anymore/so who am i defending now?/you were my town, now i’m in exile seeing you out” and “i’m not your problem anymore/so who am i offending now?”

MY TEARS RICOCHET:

this chorus BRRROOOOKE ME

writing songs presumably about the masters situation and framing them as breakup songs was absolutely galaxy brain

i feel like the image of tears ricocheting has like a million layers to it and is just suuuuch a smart metaphor

also just such a visually rich song ? so is every song on the album but the metaphors of this song are all just so visual

best lyrics: “i didn’t have it in myself to go with grace/and you’re the hero flying around saving face/and if i’m dead to you why are you at the wake?” and “i can go anywhere i want/anywhere i want, just not home”

MIRRORBALL:

ok so i did like this one on first listen, i loved absolutely everything on first listen, but it didn’t hit my top 5 until like 8 listens later, so it’s def a big grower and i think could be a huge fan fav by next year

the self-awareness in her writing will never fail to amaze me

the way that life is just performing...... yeah

but it’s crazy to me that a person could be like “i’m a compulsive people pleaser and performer and i’ll do anything to get ppl to like me” and that leads to “i am a disco ball” like ???? her brain is so big. it’s such a gorgeous metaphor.... and the circus imagery AHHHHH

best lyrics: “i’m still on that tightrope/i’m still trying everything to get you laughing at me/i’m still a believer but i don’t know why/i’ve never been a natural, all i do is try try try/i’m still on that trapeze/i’m still trying everything to keep you looking at me” and “i can change everything about me to fit in”

SEVEN:

this one simply rips my heart out

at first i was like oh this is so weird and then the chorus just would not leave my head

for me personally, nostalgia is literally 90% of my personality and just for so many personal reasons the thought of childhood ending and all of the growing pains that come along with that have been at the forefront of my psyche for the past year. so it just kills me whenever i find a song like this one and it kills me that taylor specifically has several songs about this topic and this is 100000% the best of them all. like it’s the most beautiful experience to have your thoughts and feelings and fears expressed so perfectly by a total stranger, and that’s rly what art is about and i love taylor for doing that for me and millions of other people

i just feel like this song brings up so many vivid beautiful memories of childhood for so many people, like being outside in the summer and screaming and being free. ugh

the pause after “i hit my peak at seven” before completing the phrase........ OOOOOOOOOF IT HITS TOO HARD

and sound-wise, just so off-beat and cool and unique

i find this one so hard to listen to but it’s absolutely beautiful and devastating and so heavily relevant for i think the whole world rn

i think will be the sygb of folklore where it makes everybody cry so much that it becomes a skip despite being a beautiful song

first of all THE HARMONICA

this made me so happy bc it’s just so debut and so fearless and it made me SOOOOO nostalgic on my first listen, because it really felt to me like i was getting to listen to a song from debut or fearless for the very first time again

it’s just so sweet and cute and simple and yet another very self-aware moment of looking back to her past material/subject matter

best lyrics: “would you have me? would you want me?/would you tell me to go fuck myself/or lead me to the garden?” and “i’m only seventeen, i don’t know anything/but i know i miss you”

PEACE:

the bass at the beginning is soooooo nice

this miiiiiight be the strongest song on the album lyrics-wise but idk yet

not much to say, it’s just so gorgeous

best lyrics: “i’m a fire and i’ll keep your brittle heart warm/if your cascade ocean wave blues come/all these people think love’s for show/but i would die for you in secret” and “would it be enough if i could never give you peace?” and “i talk shit with my friends, it’s like i’m wasting your honour”

HOAX:

i have a feeling this one will be underrated/underappreciated bc it’s just simple and dark and the last song, but this is....... a lyrical masterpiece

i feel like i need to be playing this on vinyl with all of the lights off and just a candle burning yknow, like there’s just something so dark and ancient about it

best lyrics: “my winless fight/this has frozen my ground” and “your faithless love’s the only hoax i believe in/don’t want no other shade of blue but you/no other sadness in the world would do” and “you knew it still hurt underneath my scars/from when they pulled me apart/but what you did was just as dark/darling this was just as hard”

OVERALL: 10000000000/10 literally one of the best albums i have ever heard and (while i wouldn’t put it past her to top it) absolutely the best work of her career. so complex and layered and emotional and painful and genuine and different. not to get ahead of myself but this is/should be considered her blue, her rumours, her abbey road....... god. can’t wait to listen to this album for the rest of my life and play it for my future children and just watch it live on as the greatest work of one of the most important artists of the 21st century

Here are some little like ‘reviews’ of all the Oingo Boingo albums... Under cut LOL... I just like to talk about Oingo Boingo I am so obsessed right now they have become tied for Mr. Bungle as favorite band... But anyways... Hope you enjoy ^_^

Only a Lad: Very fun sound as a whole. I enjoy how like poppy and synthy it is and stuff and that one weird electronic voice Mr. Elf man does in like every song. I remember like actually not liking most of the songs first time I heard it and I’m not sure why because I enjoy 9/10 out of them a lot now... But then again I like almost never really like an album the first time I hear it LOL I have a mean soul. A lot of the songs have pretty evil words in them but I have like slight respect for how much hatred Danny Elfman seems to have had for everyone on the entire planet at the time of writing. And for the majority of songs I cannot really complain about because I think it fits theme of like very happy sounding song but nasty words in it duality of man and such. Only one I really do not like is Capitalism because it has the whiniest lyrics of all and also it just does not sound good like as a song I think I am sorry. I must say it. Forgive me. I was so thrilled hearing Nasty Habits for the first time because I really like songs that sound like a homosexual cartoon villain would sing them to you. Well that’s all. Only a Lad itself was one of the first songs of theirs I heard except sped up and it had a picture of anime Bart Simpson on it. I like it. Good song. Recently I cannot stop getting it and Little Girls stuck in my head. That’s all

Nothing to Fear: Everything about this album is sooooo sooo good it is like so incredibly catered specifically to my tastes. One of the few albums I have loved immediately as soon as I heard I finished listening for the first time and was immediately like oh this is going in my favorites. I add some points also for absolutely incredible beautiful cover art it’s got weird colors weird animals logo made of worm things it’s so beautiful it makes me want to cry. I think it gets SLIGHTLY weaker in its second half but that is hard not to do with albums. That said though a lot of songs that I felt were slightly worse at first have risen to being my favorites of the album like Why’d We Come and Reptiles and Samurai. Didn’t know what to think about Running on a Treadmill at first but I think it works very well in its simplicity and it is very catchy I can imagine people like singing it on actual treadmill and like jumping around abd being in zero gravity for some reason it is like that music video where they are in the plane but it is treadmills. Well, hi. The only ones that feel like slightly slightly worse to me are Whole Day Off and Islands but I think I am growing to like both of those a lot more too. My favorites though are Grey Matter and Insects and Wild Sex and also Nothing to Fear the titular song and Why’d We Come and Reptiles and Samurai which is over half of the songs so I think that’s good. I remember listening to Private Life like 5 times before listening to the rest of the album but I always forgot how it went immediately after not sure why because I’d say it is a reasonably catchy song. Anyways INCREDIBLE album. Rude lyrics? Still a thing but tend to be much more agreeable like it is obvious who is being made fun of in like Grey Matter and Nothing to Fear and I say the fun making is well deserved! Even though I may be the target of Grey Matter I understand and I am sorry. The general sound is also amazing I LOVE all the weird noises and metal stuff and clanks and clonks and all the xylophone. Dude the xylophone is so good. Synth and xylophone and guitar they are all best friends and they sound so cool together and I think xylophones should be more widely used in like “pop” music as a whole whatever that defines. I keep wanting to start a band and just play xylophone. Like what’s anybody gonna do to stop me? I love xylophone. That’s all

Good for Your Soul: I wasn’t so impressed by this one the first time I heard it but it quickly wormed its way up to a very close #2 and possibly even tied with Nothing to Fear as my favorite album of theirs. The album art on this one is also really good I will say! I felt like slightly let down at first by it just because it’s so hard to live up to how beautiful of a cover Nothing to Fear has in my mind. But its art is so cool too. Muscle man in wobbly world. What’s more to love (Side note I enjoy the song Wobbly World it is not an Oingo Boingo song it is by Devo I should listen to more Devo.) The first time I listened the only songs that REALLY jumped out at me super hard were No Spill Blood and Fill the Void, and I think those 2 are still tied as my favorites. I LOVE the whole like rhythm No Spill Blood has going on and the weird animal noises and also the lyrics they are not about Animal Farm they are about The Island of Dr. Moreau he did those surgeries don’t you know he made the animals have to be men and they were like are we not men but they didn’t say they were Devo sorry I keep talking about Devo in this Oingo Boingo album review. And BTW Fill the Void also is really great and has possibly my favorite set of lyrics in any song ever to exist which is the part like “Every little thing is a piece of a larger thing / Every little fish is a tyrant of the sea / Every little atom is a master of his family / Every single piece calls my name / What do they want from me?” It is so good it makes me go so insane I love it. Another song that works really well in just being a simple thing. It is so nice and cool it feels like being in space and you are in one of the levels of one of those Kirby spinoff games where he’s like a ball and you’re rolling him around NOT Canvas Curse the other ones like Dream Course I think. Anyways though while I wasn’t super big on all the other songs they ended up like slowly coming back into my head one by one until I was obsessed with all of them. First it was Pictures of You. Then it was Nothing Bad Ever Happens to Me (would put that in my top 3 as well) and then Dead or Alive and then Little Guns and then Cry of the Vatos and then Wake Up It’s 1984 and then Sweat and then the titular song AND Who Do You Want to Be it was like. Wow. What a world. WDYWTB + Good for Your Soul + Sweat were the 3 that didn’t really do it for me as much for a while but now I’ve been really enjoying them too so I think I can say I love every single song on this album. It is becoming my best friend. It’s sooo good. It feels like living in one of those fake Utopian cities and there’s actually something sinister going on behind the scenes. Like I will start seeing colors and freaking about it any time soon. Random memory that unlocked in me is that I used to be incredibly obsessed with The Book Thief and its concept of death when I was in like 6th or 7th grade like uncannily so but I never talked about the book ever I just hid it away in my mind. My sad story. Sorry everyone. That’s all

So-Lo: This one is technically just Danny Elfman but you know it is an Oingo Boingo album man they got the whole band there they were just having licensing issues because new label and stuff is my understanding. And they were like. Well let’s take advantage of this and do some less standard Oingo Boingo songs. That is how I grasp this situation I don’t know how correct I am her I actually don’t know that much about O.B. outside of the songs at this point I still cannot name any non-Danny Elfman member and I am really sorry for this and must learn to atone for my ways. This is a good album though. Once again has really good cover art I will say. It’s like well hello there Mr. Elf man you’ve got some eyes sliding off your face and some funny colors and are controlling some little puppet things maybe it’s like you do you man LOL am I right or am I right! I like this album. This was yet another one where I listened the first time and was like. Man I’m not really feeling it with any of these songs. However I do enjoy that they all sound kind of like they were recorded on a Sega Genesis. I mean it does have very Genesis-y noises I know this was the 80s and it would be more accurate to say the Sega Genesis soudns like this album but you know what I mean. Anyways nothing grabbed me at first but upon my second listen I became extremely obsessed with the song “Go Away” and then listened to it on repeat for 2 hours straight and it still hasn’t got old for me I still like it very good song. Definitely my favorite. Tied with Everybody Needs which is also a very fun song I became similarly enamored with like a day later but didn’t listen to quite as much LOL. But anyways I went through that oh-so-familiar process which I must warn you is also the process I go through for every single album after this! - Where all the other songs started worming their way into my head and I was like oh brother I am beginnign to like them all now! Good for Your Soul, I think, marked like more obvious change from songs tending to be like “This is what Danny Elfman thinks of the world phrased in a humorous way” to more like actual stories and stuff, although the former wasn’t rid of entirely and the latter hadn’t just popped up or anything. But I think this album continued that in a really nice way and while it can be vague, listening to it I always feel that there is like one solid story all the song narratives go throughout. Someone pointed out in like Youtube Comments that Go Away feels like the sadder side of Cool City and to me it feels like the whole album is kind of in that vein. Seems to me like all the songs are in the Cool City itself and you’re seeing like the various different horrible things that go on in that town and horrible people that live in it. Yknow? Like Tough as Nails and Everybody Needs make me think of like various awful weird a$$ holbs living there and then stuff like Sucker for Mystery and Lightning and It Only Makes Me Laugh. Well they are clearly from the perspectives of some guy. The same guy? Maybe maybe not I don’t feel like they are the same guy. But it feels like they are like experiencing weird horrible sh*t in this horrible town that is filled with racists but also gay people. I like this album I enjoy it

Dead Man’s Party: OK I am sorry to say. This is a good album but it hasn’t COMPLETELY grown on me yet. But I DO like it a lot. I enjoy it it’s good. I really really love Just Another Day and the titular song and Heard Somebody Cry and Nobody Lives Forever and Weird Science which is over half of them so not bad all things considered. And I do not DISLIKE any songs. But the other ones haven’t quite grown on me yet. This album does kind of shift into like the more commercial stuff it’s not like generic pop or nothing. But it is like slightly strange to get used to. That said. The songs I like I REALLY like thye are so good. No One Lives Forever is an incredible incredible song just like Nasty Habits it fulfills my love of songs that sound like they are being sung by evil guys in cartoons but are not they’re actually being sung by Danny Elfman who is an evil guy in real life. Sorry I didn’t mean it he probably is not that evil I’m sure he’s perfectly nice Mr. Elf man if you are reading this I apologize. Anyways though. I like the general sound of this album I will say! I think though it has thing going on where like, in my mind, some of the songs feel like way too happy and overly peppy almost like mocking. I have a weird mind and a weird way of processing things and I am also incredibly afraid of everything on this planet so keep that in mind BTW I am sorry. But like Stay and Fool’s Paradise and Help Me and Same Man I was Before all have that kind of feeling to me, it’s like these are so cheerful and cheesy sounding to me it kind of scares me a little bit. However... I am starting to feel this less with Help me and Stay, and also I felt this a little bit with Heard Somebody Cry at first as well and I no longer do. So maybe I’m still going through the motions of song-liking as I do. As I said though the favorites on here are incredible. Weird Science may have been written for strange movie deal and they may be really saddened by its memory or maybe just the music video’s memory but it’s a very fun song nevertheless. Dead Man’s Party itself it really fun true classic. Very orange song to me. It’s orange and purple like I hear it and I am like ah yes I am experiencing orange and purple. Very nice shades of orange and purple though, and they are mixing together in pleasing ways and throwing a big party and everyone’s invited you might even say it’s a dead man’s party heh heh heh (grins devilishly). I think this like takes the kind of narratives in Good for Your Soul and So-Lo and like takes it to best form! In that it has a very clear yet not super specific narrative going on throughout the whole album, I really like whenever an album has songs set up so pleasingly and nice like that it makes me sad when they’re just like in random order. But of course this album is all about death and accepting it and stuff and like all the different feelings of sadness and happiness and stuff that all go into it! And I like its message a lot, like obviously you shouldn’t want to die but don’t fear it. It has a very nice depiction of the afterlife. I like all the stuff in Beetlejuice and Corpse Bride with their similar interpretations too although Beetlejuice isn’t quite as positive about it LOL. I want to watch Corpse Bride again. I want to see another singing Danny Elfman skeleton. I want to see the Peter Lorre worm. My one complaint with the album narrative is that Weird Science goes at the end it kinda ruins the whole story a little bit but I can’t fault them because like where COULD they put it? I think it might work kind of well as the first song because like trying to make frankenstein guy before all the accepting death stuff makes sense. But also. It would be a weird opener. Also the album art is so incredible I love it I want to join their party it’s beautiful. I did not mean for this review to get as long as it did. They just keep getting longer each album I’m sorry the length does not show my opinion but I just keep getting more excited each album

Boi-Ngo: Will admit this one is my least favorite. And once again my bias shows because it has cover art I don’t like very much. It’s just real guys looking at you. Where’s the funny Oingo Boingo touch where’s the charm people!??!? it makes me sad. And also, as a whole, while I DO like most of the songs I feel like I don’t like them as much as I like any of the ones on other albums, and it also has my least favorite song I’ve heard other than Capitalism which is We Close Our Eyes sorry I’ve seen a lot of people who really like that one but it just scares me. It feels so insincere to me it makes me feel that thing once more where it’s like this song is waaayyy to happy and peppy to not feel like it’s kind of sinister deep down. I apologize. It is a fun album however! I think it kind of goes back more to “Danny Elfman’s humorous observations about life”, which is not always a bad thing, but it seems to revert a little bit too much back to like him just being kind of whiny and not making much of a point in like, say, New Generation. Although it is a nice song I think! It scares me when he goes like now he’s got you by the balls. I understand the point of that lyric. But it frightens me. I think my favorites are Home Again, Elevator Man, Not My Slave (although lyrics feel like slightly concerning), Outrageous, and Pain. Which once again is more than half the album so shows what I know complaining about it this whole time.

Dark at the End of the Tunnel: I feel bad for this album because before listening to it I always forgot it existed, like I listened to Boi-Ngo and was like aw man I only have one album left! Oh wait nevermind I have 2. And now I keep fearing there’s another one I forgot not including like the live albums and singles stuff. Maybe there is.... haunting me But anyways... I already did like incomprehensible post talking about this one earlier LOL which inspired me to do more equally incomprehensible things on all the other albums hence this post. So I’ve already said a lot of what I have to say about this and hope not to repeat it too much... but... LOL I was so afraid wondering if I would actually like this one or not... I wanted to just because of how awesome the cover art is. And I was afraid because I wasn’t really a big fan of most of the songs at first. But I think with this album and the whole Boingo era they were moving towards like more orchestral stuff and changing their sound and all... So it was a bit strange to get used to at first but the more I listened the more I enjoyed everything I guess like taking in all the instruments and textures and what not. A lot of the songs in this one also feel like kind of creepily cheery but I think it works best for this album specifically, because as I’ve said before it feels very intentional - there is like whole dual thing of more dark mysterious sections and light-hearted happy sections in most of the songs. Although my top 3 are all songs that mostly just have the former going on... Right to Know, Long Breakdown, and Run Away. I also really enjoy When the Lights Go Out, Skin, Out of Control (though it still feels like vaguely scary to me LOL), and Glory Be... But I keep finding myself getting all the others stuck in my head as well. So still growing on me LOL! I am beginning to appreciate all the other songs more for those cheerier parts as well yknow... I think this whole album has a very fantastical vibe to it LOL but definitely like, a very old fantasy. Like they discovered this album in a giant wizard’s tower like ten thousand years ago and now it’s been unearthed again. But it was created by a child wizard who was like 5 years old. But still had a wizard beard. That’s the guy on the cover I’ve decided. Little wizard from long ago. However... It does feel like it’s kind of setting up something. Like all the songs do... whole album is good but feels like it’s kind of a preparation for the next one. Which doesn’t make it bad! Just like I feel like it’s kind of part of a set... Incomplete on its own yknow? I would probably rank it in my lower 4 of all the albums but I’ll still say I enjoyed it quite a bit, that is no insult. And I like wizards

Boingo: This album is SO good dude. I’m glad this is what they left off on. Really great finishing album... I have a weird timeline involving this one because it was actually the first album I listened to, my dad showed it to me, but I only ever listened up to Lost Like This before very recently and by recently I mean today and I am still listening to Changes for the first time as I write this which is probably a bad idea but I am doing it anyways. Anyways though... The first O.B. songs my dad showed to me ever were Insanity from this album and Dead Man’s Party the song, and despite how different their two sources are they both have extremely similar structure I think. And so I kind of painted this picture of like all Oingo Boingo songs being similarly structured around 6-7 minutes and mostly repeating the same different sections in slightly different ways. And I am pleased that this album kind of fulfills that - a lot of the songs are like 2-3x longer than they really need to be but I enjoy that because I love long songs. As I mentioned earlier, DatEotT feels like it’s just the beginning of something, and this provides a very satisfying ‘second half’. I think it works well by itself too, though! Boingo marks such a big change musically from everything else before even DatEoT but it somehow stays very true to their old spirit anyways.. But everything feels so much grander and I really like it. Almost every song has a pretty wistful melancholy feel but at the same time ALSO almost every song but like a different set of almost every song is very big and bombastic. So it definitely has that “well this is our last album goodbye” feel to it. But it’s OK. It’s like a big grand finale. If there was a like an Oingo Boingo musical that had every single song for some reason and lasted like 10 hours I feel like the other albums could be switched around the whole thing regardless of their actual releases, but this one would HAVE to be last. Adding to that, I feel like it really like takes a lot of the earlier concepts I’ve liked a lot in previous albums and had them return. Like So-Lo, many of the songs have pretty different narratives, but all feel like they can be one loose intertwined thing. Pedestrian Wolves and Lost Like This definitely feel connected for one... and like Insanity and Changes provide like nice bookends where the first is like analyzing the world around us and then the second is analyzing the self. Side note. Danny Elfman is always referring to himself as stupid in Oingo Boingo songs. And sometimes it’s just like PoV character or something. But it ticks me off a little bit because he is like clearly not stupid he is like a crazy evil genius. But ALSO I’m not really sure what exactly the whole story of Boingo is, but it just feels connected in some sort of mysterious way yknow? Maybe it will appear to me later... If Dark at the End of the Tunnel was created by a little five year old wizard ten thousand years ago, this was created by the same wizard when he was reaching the end of his life and was in the wizard’s nursing home in like the 1920s. It still feels like mildly aged, there is SOMETHING about it that feels like it’s meant to be played on like an extremely old awful record player, but it has a much more modern feeling. It almost feels like another interpretation of the afterlife... Maybe that more Beetlejuice kind where it’s just like real life at first but if you peek around the corner you’ll find all the weird sandworms and colorful ghosts and stuff. Anyways though. This album is so good. Not my favorite right now, but definitely in top 3, like at the moment of writing this I would say. #1 is Nothing to Fear. #2 is Good for Your Soul. #3 is Boingo. But I am loving it soooo much on my first actual full listen even though I’ve had time to like absorb half the songs already admittedly. So it might end up being my favorite after all! I think my 3 favorite tracks also on this are Insanity, Lost Like This, and Hey!. Random completely unrelated parallel to my other favorite band. I like that they have a song called Hey! and Mr. Bungle has a song called Hi! It all fits together. And they both have the exclamation point. But anyways ALSO since I’ve only finished listening for the first time Changes finished while I was writing this BTW. I am still figuring out my opinions on the rest of the songs. Don’t think the I am the Walrus cover QUITE does it for me, I like Spider and War Again but not sure if they’re favorites. I hated Can’t See/Useless the first time I listened but now I like it how about that! ONE MORE thing I like about this. Is its songs feel like continuations of stuff in other albums. Although that may just be because of similar themes! Like, War Again feels like a continuation of both Nothing to Fear and Little Guns but it’s about similar subjects to both. And Tender Lumplings, Little Girls, no real explanation needed there. Insanity and Nasty Habits match up pretty well, with both just being like about hating the world although Nasty Habits is more specific than that LOL. Mary is a girl who is unfairly ostracized, Johnny of Only a Lad is a boy who is unfairly praised, you know. And also one more thing ONE more I know this one ALSO kinda has the classic Danny Elfman yells about things stuff going on but I feel like this is the album where it works best. But maybe I am just a hypocrite. OK that’s all. Hi

final thoughts

so, finally after watching the season for the last couple of days i went to the tags to check the art and stuff and... i don’t wanna get too involved because i don’t give much of a rat’s ass about the issue but. the people harassing the production of the show are kids or actual adults? dude people reeeeally have nothing to do these days huh... y’all weird af. anyway.

the season was sooooo cool. i like that they took the time in one episode to explain how earth has prepared for the invasion, and before, in another episode letting Sam explain eeeverything that’s happening in space. sometimes in movies and tv shows they just skip the part where the cards are laid out just because it’s “too much work”, which sucks because i think it helps with organizing information for the viewers. i think that’s the part that surprised me the most about the show.

keith’s leadership skills developed sooo much, i think before and after they got to earth. and shiro just. let him be, didn’t try to tell him what to do at any point, which was great since so many times in real life we have people who previously occupied the spot we’re on telling us how to do stuff. he’s the absolute best. that scene where keith and hunk talked, man, that was sweet. i think it was a pivotal point in keith’s development, being able to talk to his team mates and reassuring them, and all those leadership skills.

the new castle of lions is called atlas AND it’s also a gigantic robot with thicc legs huh! and of course there’s this duality between keith being the leader of voltron and shiro being the leader of the garrison (not sure but for sure)

the ending! so glad they didn’t just let the whole there’re still alteans alive thing go away. especially because there’s also the thing with allura’s crystal going into shiro’s arm and having aaaaaaall of those new abilities going on! so much to explain there. i’ve said in one of my posts, but shiro is probably part altean now. half altean shiro and half galran keith bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh this is the dream

lance and allura are definitely a thing now, happy for y’all non-problematic shippers out there!

acxa, what’s her deal. i’m clearly rooting for shiro and keith y’all, and obviously i wouldn’t like to see keith and acxa being a romantic thing. i think it would be neat to see them as buddies, so as to counter that whole males and females can’t be friends thing. kinda like pidge’s relationship with hunk. but if that’s where they’re going, whatever will i do.

those scenes at the end showing earth being rebuilt and welcoming the coalition. earth being friends with all the good aliens yay!

those 4 kids and veronica. not much to say about them. i still don’t like the one who had a beef with keith, but we’ll get there maybe.

aaaaaaa the animation, music, voice acting, daaaaamn. so pretty. so well done. i can’t help but from time to time wonder how they did some scenes, or how they drew this and that. and the colors and shit. so cool. people can be so talented

the structure of the storyline was good imo. maybe at some points i think they overdid it, especially with shiro forming a new gigantic robot. it was cool sure, but it made no sense and it was a bit far fetched

the other thing that bugged me the most. the fact that at no point in the whole season does shiro have time to either rest, or do we see him acknowledging the fact that he’s got a new body and stuff. like. it feels like they neglected that part... maybe next season. the other thing i think they neglected and that leads me to my last point... keith and shiro needing to talk about the fight. i mean, keith is sporting a huge scar on his face, no way shiro feels good about that. does he even remember? he has to right? ughhhh these kind of deeper emotional stories of the characters being left unexplained and unlaid out and unsolved bugs me in waaaaaaays. please please dont let it go unnoticed in the next season. about sheith, of course i had expactations. but i also knew that when they talked about one relationship that’s been growing since the beginning being acklowledged now i knew it had to be allurance. which is okay. about time. and i can’t complain much when we had keith save shiro YET AGAIN. as many times as it takes indeed. and then he. craddled him. in his arms??? okay. alright i’m happy with that,,,,, and it looked so much more personal with keith actually leaving the lion to kill sendak with his own hands. ah loved it. so dramatic.

this is longer that i thought it would be. i have no one to talk to about this show so i just had to lay it all here at almost 4 in the morning. whoever reads this till the end, feel free to tell me if there’s something you don’t agree with, i’d love to talk to you about this season.

Mr-Good-Guy-Steve

A Darcy x Steve short based on THIS. I thought it was cute and so I just threw something down really quick.

She was right in the middle of reviewing a piece she wrote on the political ramifications of super soldier science and how it shaped modern-day government when she heard the soft sigh coming from the doorway.

‘Something wrong, Cap?’

He gave his head just the tiniest of shakes, ‘No.’

Darcy rolled her eyes and sat up from the comfy nest she’d made in the middle of the common room where she liked to work because the lighting was better…that and Thor was back sooo she was pretty much avoiding the apartment at all costs until they had calmed down a bit. That was one of the major downsides of sharing an apartment with Jane, she loved her bestie and sometimes it was probably the only way that she was able to keep Jane alive…but she really missed her bed and shower and stuff.

'So, how long have you been camped out in the common room?’

'Two days. Thor got back on Monday and since you guys were out on a mission, I figured it was better than sleeping in the lab. Do I need to move?’

'Yes, you can go take my room and I can sleep on the couch.’

'Look Mr-I’m-A-Perfect-Gentleman but I really can’t kick Captain America out of his own bed, it’s like a national crime or something. I’m okay here.’

'Nope. You are coming with me and you are going to take a shower and have a proper meal and get a good nights rest. You look exhausted and I bet if I read that paper it wouldn’t make a lick of sense.’

'And what do you know about political science?’

'Well, considering I am kind of the reason you’re writing that particular paper, I might be able to give you a bit of insight on the differences in the government from then to now.’

'Huh. Yeah…that…that makes a lot of sense. So, do I get to interview you Mr-Perfect-Hair?’

'Steve, please just call me Steve.’

'Steve…I don’t have any extra clothes…sooooo can I borrow some or are you okay with me wandering around your apartment in the nude?’

The way he blushed was enough to make her cackle. Gathering her papers and shuffling after him as he turned and made for his apartment. By the time she got there he’d already set up a blanket and pillow on the couch and held out a t-shirt and some sweats.

'Toiletries and everything are already in there, yell if you need anything else. I’m going to order some food, do you have a preference?“

'Ummmm…’

'Whatever you want, Darcy. With multiple super soldiers under one roof, Tony started keeping a chef on hand 24-7 in case we need to refuel.’

'Ummm, Thai food?’

'You got it, doll.’

It was her turn to blush, grabbing the clothes and padding into the bathroom. It was very neat and boring. Maybe she’d get him a painting or shower curtain or something to jazz up the space.

When Darcy came out, it took everything not to swallow his tongue.

He really really should have grabbed a different t-shirt and he had no clue how to broach the subject that he could see her chest pretty easily through the white t-shirt, settling for grabbing a hoodie and passing it to her as she took a seat at the breakfast bar.

He could breathe a little easier when she pulled it on, turning to the fridge and peeking inside.

'Uhhh, I can offer you some water or we can call them to bring something else up when they bring the food. Sorry, not being here all that much, I try not to get much in the way of perishable items.’

'Water is fine, thank you. Yeah, I noticed you’re not here much, the bathroom is kinda boring. We need to get you some stuff to jazz up the space.’

'Oh yeah? Like what kind of stuff?’

'Well, what do you like?’

'Uhhh…I like drawing and art. I love to read, I used to love the old dime novels…comics and The Hobbit. Films…music. Sam has introduced me to a bunch of enjoyable music.’

'So, what you are telling me, Steve Rogers is that you are a closet nerd? Oh boy, this is the right time for you to live. Come here, let’s look at some sites and pick some stuff out.’

And that’s how he ended up on the couch with Darcy, browsing different websites for things to buy for the apartment. He was particularly interested in this one website that had an entire selection of stuff devoted to Tolkien and other different fandoms. He was scrolling on the tablet when the doorbell rang, hopping up and grabbing the food.

'That took long enough that I ordered…’

He trailed off when he looked over and realised Darcy had curled up and fallen asleep, chuckling softly and putting the food on the counter. She could have it when she woke up. Carefully lifting her off the couch and bringing her to the bedroom, pulling back the covers and depositing her on the bed gently. He tried to pull away but Darcy had a death grip on his shirt, flushing and chuckling a little.

'Darcy, sweetheart, you need to let go of my shirt and get some rest. Darcy?’

'NNnngghhh. Nuh uh, warm. You get in the bed.’

'Uhhh that probably wouldn’t be…’

He didn’t get a chance to finish the sentence when the tiny brunette started tugging him into bed, scooting over so he had no choice but to lie down or have his shirt pulled off. Flushing when he leant back against the pillows and Darcy curled herself up at his side, head resting against his chest.

'Mmm Mr-Good-Guy-Steve…thank you.’

'You’re welcome, Darcy.’

'Take you out on a date later to make up for it…’

She trailed off and was out again and Steve couldn’t help but lie there with a little grin on his face.

A date, huh. He’d be okay with that.

Umm yes and no? I’m not sure. If I have an American wedding I like to stick to a traditional white with maybe a peach and light pink here and there, but for sure I would love to do a traditional Hmong wedding.

Okay, I love Pupson to bits, but he’s not as fun as the other two. And Minty can be awkward to write, even if he is fun... So Red or Knight. I use both publicly and privately.

But they’re only my Current favourites. Before I got into Don’t Starve my favourite muse was Underfell Sans. Before Undertale? Uhhh. Grendal the exasperated lizard monster who was sooo done with Sonic’s shit. I think he was either a lawyer, an accountant or a diplomat in a post Robotnik world. He worked for a King Sonic and essentially baby sat him so he wouldn’t embarrass his wife, Queen Sally.

What inspired you to take on your current muse (that you are posting this on): Uhhhh... Well I was inspired to turn this into an rp blog by @a-dynamite-digger, which also gave me the idea for Beta Red (very different from actual Red btw).

The hound Wilson art on @maxwil-sojjeok‘s old blog gave me the inspiration for Pupson, and I borrowed a lot of Knight’s backstory for him.

Discworld obviously inspired current Red.

Rough was inspired by this short film.

Knight came much sooner, a couple of years actually. He was a private muse from before I had the courage to blog. These pieces of art (link 1, link 2) were the inspiration, but he’s come a long, long way. Apart from scars and owning two dark swords he’s pretty much unrecognisable.

What are your favourite aspects of your current muse: Red is so god damn fabulous and over the top, he’s a pleasure to write. But it’s sooooo good when I get explore his other facets.

Knight has a lot going on. It’s difficult to explain, but I love that he just doesn’t give a shit anymore. He just straight up doesn’t care about anything that doesn’t concern his little protectorate of friends and family.

Minty’s dissonent cuteness is it’s own reward, and he lets me kill other muses without remorse.

Rough is just adorable and precious.

Pupson is wonderful when the chemistry between muses works just so. I love him for his flexibilty and relationships.

What’s your biggest inspiration when it comes to writing: Discworld, Mythology, folklore, music.

Favourite types of threads: PupsonxMelanie threads. They’re just beautiful.

Threads that let Knight be his sassy, no shit giving self. Just... If you can find an excuse for him to be sent after your muse, or any other opportunities for him to do this PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

Biggest struggle in regards to your current muse: Pupson is difficult to write in intimate situations. The lewder the harder it is, uness claws and teeth are involved.

Red overshares. He can’t keep his mouth shut. And he doesn’t do fluff well. He just doesn’t get that mellow.

Rough is too sweet. Too forgiving. I’m scared for them.

WX is unco-operative. Always.

Maxwell is same as above with the added difficulty that he can’t speak.

Knight can be difficult to put in the right situation. He thrives in battle, physical or otherwise. Super competitive. But outside that he’s hard to write.

Minty is hard when he isn’t suckering someone.

New Orleans: Stranger & more familiar.

There is a Kurt Vonnegut quote that Asa referenced the other day that has been ringing in my ears ever since. It goes something like “Strange travel plans are like dancing lessons from the universe.” Being both a lover of dancing (above most things) & a true believers in *signs*, it has been on my mind. There are so many levels to it-the trust for your dancing partners, learning to let go, making the most out of everything, forgiving yourself for the fumbles, etc. Mostly, trusting your gut.

I few days ago, I found a little bit of loneliness seeping in. Not an overwhelming amount, but as someone who really loves heart-full chats, I realized it had been some time since I’ve really talked to someone with my heart. I noted that, and kinda kept it in my brain, filling “maybe try to make friends” on my to-do list. I really like my alone time. I also really like my social time. It’s funny, that recently I kind of waver back and forth between the extremes- spending so much alone time that I start to feel lonely, and then spending way too much time around people that I find myself getting ever-so grumpy (which isn’t usually part of my demeanour). It is about balance, and I think this trip has been an excersize it that so far.

The past few days, I’ve made an effort to slow my pace a little more. I spent one day in City Park. Which is a very big park on the “lakeside” of the city. It’s one of two big parks in the city (the other being Audubon park one the far west side of the city; which I went to the following day). City park is the home of the Museum of Art, the sculpture garden, golf course, a theme park called Storyland & a really beautiful botanical garden. Audubon park hosts a golf course, the city zoo & the most lively, filled duck pond I’ve ever witnessed. The parks were nice for sure, but the trees themselves were amazing- in particular the ones in City Park. Many of them are well over 500 years old, & my favourite one of all was estimated to be around 860 years old. I sat in the roots of that tree really trying to sink in and ground. I held on the obsidian stone Mare gave me before I left & did our grounding ritual- hugging the tree and following its roots all the way down into the earth, then to the core of the earth itself, then back again. It worked in part, but I did kind of wish I had another witch to sit in the ritual with. It did feel so, so, nice to sit at the base of that tree though. It felt like a great-grandfather I’d never met before. I felt it’s basey-vibration and felt so oddly comforted. It was like all the high-frequency, anxious energy just got absorbed & ceased to exist under the (very very wide) canopy of that tree. I sat there a long time. Even as the tour groups passed & they all kind started at me half-hugging the tree. It felt dis-loyal to leave just because of on-lookers, and so, I stayed.

There were a few other huge oaks throughout the park as well. The other notable one is known as the singing oak, which happens to be my friend Troy’s favourite tree (it’s the first thing he told me I should do when I got here). It houses wind-chimes of all different sizes- really huge base ones, to teeny-tiny fairy-like ones. Apparently they are tuned to fill out the scale of African music. Which I thought was cool.

The museum was also pretty interesting (Although the Ogden was still my favourite). It contains a lot of the typically expected pieces- oils from dutch masters, a mogdalini, a picasso, a warhol, etc. My favourite exhibit was actually the one being displayed in the front hall. It was Tina Girourard’s work (in collaboration with Haitian artisans) called Bondeye: Between & beyond. It was a collection of Voodoo flags based one what to appeared to be a slightly different archana of Tarot cards. It was stunning. bright, detailed, full of thought, history. Very provoking, memorable-- and very New Orleans.

As I waited for the streetcar (which was very late) I spotted some familiar faces in the crowd. A couple I have actually sat behind in the ride up to the park, and then again at several points in the museum. When the streetcar finally did arrive, I again, happened to have sat right behind them. The woman in the pair spun around & told me she had seen me earlier & we got to talking. Olga is from New York via Arizona via Azerbaijan, but now in LA- Not Louisiana (as she’s had to correct people), but Los Angeles. Sam is born & raised in Los Angeles, but a francophile & lover of travelling too. We chatted a bit- they thought I was a local (lol) and were asking me for recommendations, which I gave them. We talked for a long while about travel & they told me to text them when I’m LA. Which is cool. Olga also gave me a bunch of recommendations for Arizona, which was really nice, because, in terms of travelling, that’s the area that makes me a little more nervous- just because I don’t have a car.

I actually ended up running into them the very next day at a little cafe in the French Quarter called Cafe Beignet. We again, swapped things-to-do lists. I was just coming from Audubon park & they were just going, so we parted way... But in a small place like this, I’m sure we’ll cross over again soon. I stuck around the quarter, because it was the weekend & all the busking musicians were out. Holy Moly. They are great here. I wish I could have spent hours listening to each one. Or more so, I was really wishing for a swing dance partner (but to be fair, even in Halifax I can’t always find one). There are also other types of booth/tables set up. Especially along Royale. Tarot card readers, artists-- my favourite of all time was a lady that was live-painting.... using a marionette.

P.s! I found my all-time favourite place for noms. The Cafe Verti, which is also on Royal (if I remember correctly). I mean, as a vegitarian, I expected to miss out on many of the New Orleanian classics-- but this cafe does a veggie version of the PoBoy called “the green giant.” It was also recommended that next time, I get the green giant with olive tempanade as well. I’m already planning on going back there in the next few days. It is a very hole-in-the-wall type of place--- so honestly, you probably wouldn’t find it unless you were specifically looking for it. It’s sooo worth it though.

Later on, Asa & I ended up taking Kozmeaux for a stroll to Cafe Flora. Which, for those familiar with the old establishments of the northend of Halifax, is very much like The Good Food Emporium. Everyone knows everyone, or every will know everyone eventually. Of course, it has it’s NOLA twist to it- you sit under palm trees, etc. Across the street is Big Daddy’s which is apparently the after-hours hang out spot in the Marigny. We sat around talking about weird paranormal stuff & life yadda yadda. One of the humans that works there is named Sal Geloso. Apparently he was voted New Orleans best street musician by Rolling Stone magazine. I’ve never seen him play, but I tell ya he dresses like a rock star for sure. We met one of the regulars Jeremy. Who is a super brilliant mathematician & physicist. Who used to be a hypnotist. Who now does massage one the side. (!!!! um hello signs from the universe).

Actually Asa did talk to me about the zebra races from the day before (Which I missed because my stoopooood American SIM isn’t working properly- so I missed his text). Apparently it only happens like once a year! And I only missed it by happenstance! What are the chances of that! He also told me about a fight that almost/kind broke out in front of the house the night before between drunken people outside the Hangover Club. He felt the argument really coming to a peek, so he grabbed his Ocarina & hid, softly playing. There was something about the strange melody that broke the spell of inebriated anger... and it broke up like pretty much right away. And now I know, I should always carry an Ocarina on me. Just as a side note too- Asa & Leon’s circus is called the Magic Bean Circus. They are trying to put together a ten-year anniversary of this tour they did, with a festival they are going to call BeanStock. Which sounds veryyyyy much like a cousin of white rabbit. They aren’t entirely sure where it’s gonna be yet, it seems- either upstate New York, or New Orleans. They are gonna get Odetta Hartman, Leon’s sister to kinda headline it seems. I looked her up & she’s great. If it gets proper legs, I’d definitely go if I could make it happen.

Last night, I stayed out late... which honestly was a challenge because I’m still runnning on what I call “farm time” which means waking up at 6:30 and going to bed around 8. Honestly, it’s allowed me to utilize my days really well. It was worth changing for this show last night tho. It was a Gasa Gasa which is a punk venue in Uptown. The line up was Nick Shoulders & they okay crawdads, Baby Tony & the Teenies, and Max & the Martians. Nick Shoulder’s band is old-country, on the susp of punk- mostly in aesthetics, but definitely comes through in the music to a lesser extent too. They did a Hank Williams-esque version of Blonde’s Heart of Glass which I was a fan of. Honestly, this band in particular was right up my alley. Female drum player. Folk-punk vibes. They had solid chemistry as a group. More importantly though. Nick’s yodelling made my heart melt. (lol) ---I mean. I loveeeeee old country & bluegrass. It’s kinda why I came down to the south in the first place. As soon as they started- I felt a wave of “oh yeah, this is why I came here”.

Baby Tony & the Teenies is a super unique duo. If I were to try to describe them, it would probably be something like “freak-doowop” or “Alien Rock n’ Roll.” B-52s would be the closest relative I’d say. It was super fun. And there were a few people that got up to dance (which---- TANGENT TIME---- people are sooooo dang good at dancing down here. I mean. I shouldn’t be surprised. This is where the two-step is alive and well. Apparently in Lousiana, they have the cajun-two step, which is a double-step one direction, double-step the other. I was so jealous though, but too shy to ask a stranger at the time. Next time, I refuse to be shy).

When I walked in I was literally the only one there. Actually. Well, besides those performing. I felt so much pressure to be engaged with the music (which honestly, wasn’t hard). It’s been so long since I’ve been uncomfortable like that. I mean, in Halifax, I go to things by myself all the time... but it never really feels that isolating. I either know the performers, or run into someone, or at the very least the venue is familiar to me. This was all freaky-fresh & so I just tried to casually lean... without unintentionally sinking in the wall beside me. After a while, more people showed up-- but they were obviously friends of the band.

A cool card is something I don’t really like trying to carry around in my pocket. So I kinda vowed to myself that I wouldn’t leave without talking to someones--- I mean I honestly did come all the way across town (well, canada originally) to see them play. So I went up to Eli from Baby Tony, to introduce myself. Sometimes I forget I can be an interesting person. I always kinda underestimate myself in being able to bring an interesting story into an interaction (I don’t know why, honestly, my life is super strange & wonderful). Anyways, we very quickly found common ground, exchanged Instagrams & agreed out art styles would definitely get along. Their band is finishing up a mini-tour, just coming up from Florida, then back home to Athens, Georgia. They mentioned that if I was ever in Georgia, I should message them via “the world wide web.” I said the same about Canada. It would be super cool to see them play in Halifax, but I especially think they’d go over well in Montreal.

The show ended & I stopped by the okay crawdads to say I really enjoyed their set-- because I really did. I told Nick I was jealous of his dancing & he said he was about to ask me to dance but was feeling shy. But he then did invite me to the St. Roch tavern tonight for more country music. Asa & I are going to Preservation Hall, but I think we will go afterwards. Nick also told me to go to Country Tuesday-- which is the thing Milly is playing, so as it happens I was planning on going anyways. New Orleans is definitely a small, interwoven place like Halifax. It’s certainly nice to slowly be integrating in that way. In some part, I wish I was staying longer too, but I guess that’s part of the excersize itself. Not going to lie though, I’m having very vivid daydreams about coming back here for longer. Maybe for Mardi Gras. And maybe bringing a few friends. There are definitely some people in my life that NEED to meet this city-- I’m definitely thinking of Steph Rybczyn here, but there are many others too.

The Ten of Cups.

My friend Kirsti is organizing a collaborative project between a whole bunch of artists in the northend to make a Tarot Deck. We each get assigned a card that was randomly selected. Mine is the Ten of Cups. Which is the card representing Divine love, Blissful relationships, Alignment & Harmony. More simply; joy, peace & family. Feels pretty good having that card, but I don’t know what I’m going to do it yet. My Illustrations tend to be a little darker than that usually. I am kinda looking at it as a guiding card on my whole trip tho.

It’s also nice I can start thinking about it now. I’ve definitely had my mini-sketchbook in my pocket, while I stop in the little gallery & shops, making little sketches of elements I find inspiring. I’m sure many of the sketches will make some sort of more concrete appearance in my card.
