Randomly had a thought that when Luke rushes off to save Han and Leia without finishing his training in Empire Strikes Back and Obi-Wan and Yoda try to talk him into slowing down and not being so rash, TCW actually retroactively adds some extra context to that scene cause Obi-Wan himself was once in the exact same position as Luke when Maul captured Satine and now I’m going insane a bit

If Ben Solo never turned
My little au where Luke never ignited the lightsaber and Ben never turned
Luke senses the darkness within Ben, but seeks guidance from Anakin and Obi-Wan before resorting to anything rash
Obi-Wan would suggest he take Ben into isolation. Somewhere where the light side is strong and allowing Ben to express his feelings to Luke
Anakin, who has been down the path of darkness himself, suggests Luke show Ben the benefits of the light and the negatives of the dark. Upon hearing this, Luke would tell Ben the true story of his grandfather. How the dark side wasn’t the solution to his worries. In the end he could not save the one he loved and spent 20 years entombed in suffering and misery as he was consumed by Darth Vader.
The next morning, when Ben arrived at the Jedi Temple with his fellow Padawans, he would be greeted by Luke. Luke would ultimately decide to take the advice of his father, over Obi-Wan's, opting to show Ben the power of the light side and corruption of the dark.
Just as Luke did in the Rise Of Kylo Ren comics, he would take Ben to various Jedi outposts and artifacts around the galaxy, in search of the lost knowledge of the Light Side of the Force.
They would fight numerous battles, shoulder to shoulder, against the Knights Of Ren, ALways coming out on top. Ren would still offer Ben to join their ranks as in canon, but with the guidance of Luke would cast off his pull to the dark and leading him to decline the offer.
Palpatine would still be speaking to Ben through Snoke, but once again, Ben would not engage with Snoke, as the guidance and love of Luke would give Ben no reason to seek the dark.
Continuing to follow his father's advice, Luke would move on from demonstrating the benefits of the light side, into showing the pain and suffering of the dark. They would explore many dark side shrines like Fortress Vader on Mustafar and the former Imperial Palace on Coruscant.
Luke's confidence in his students allowed him to show off these dark side locations, without fear of them being corrupted. Because Luke realized the failure of the Republic era Jedi laid within their arrogance and closed mindedness, he didn't want his students to fall into the same trap. He firmly believed that while only the Light Side should be utilized, all aspects of the force should be recognized.
As they became closer, Ben opened up to Luke about Snoke. Ben explains that ever since he could remember, Snoke has been by his side as “a friend” when his parents became distant towards him, Snoke was there. When Luke was focusing on more than himself, Snoke was there. But because Luke has shown the love and affection he’s always craved from his family, he no longer feels the need to seek Snoke out.
Because Snoke's attempts to turn Ben to the dark side were now known to Luke, Ben was able to talk about it and release his frustrations. This allowed Luke to make adjustments to his teaching style and repair the shortcomings of the previous Jedi Code.
Luke would take the time to set up a meeting between Ben, Han and Leia. Ben would express how much it hurt that they sent him away. Han and Leia explains they genuinely thought sending him to Luke was the best way to help him. Leia felt Snoke from the moment Ben was born and when he came of age, knew Luke would be able to train and protect Ben. Leia would tell Ben. “Your father and I loved you so much. We were so caught up in our work that we couldn’t be there as much as we wanted to. Sending you away was our biggest mistake as parents. We are so sorry.” and then Ben would hug his parents showing that he’s forgiven them and moves on with Luke and the Jedi. Leia and Han would be permitted to send holovids to communicate with Luke and Ben.
Before Ben could move on, he would need to apologize and make up with his fellow Jedi Tai, Hennix and Voe. Ben would apologize for his arrogance/superiority complex and would from now on view his fellow Padawans as his friends. This is a fresh start for the group.
Luke would be using his outings to these dark side locations with Ben as a means to find the Sith Wayfinders, believing they would lead back to the origin of Snoke. Although this was unknown to Ben. Luke hoped to find the true identity of Snoke and eliminate him before he had the chance to turn Ben or any of his students.
Ben decided that the Knights Of Ren must be stopped once and for all. Ben gets together Tai, Voe and Hennix together. The mission in ending the Knights Of Ren was a success. The Padawans would now be Knighted as Jedi Knights
Luke decides to take only Ben with him on this extremely important mission. Although he believes the other students would be capable facing Snoke together, this was a job for Luke and Ben alone.
Ben uses his contact with Snoke to gain access to the second Sith Wayfinder, manipulating him into giving more information about his origin.
The pair travel across the galaxy until they are forced to stop on Naboo because of damage to their ship. Upon their arrival, they are greeted by the Queen Of Naboo and sent to their quarters while repairs are made on their ship. Luke and Ben both sense a significant dark side presence on the planet, drawing them towards a small home in the capital city of Theed. Although the pair are reluctant, they have no choice but to investigate this dark side presence
Feint howls could be heard and a cool chill swept across the street they were walking on. They knew they were at the right location, despite it looking like a completely normal house, the same as any other on the street, it was ravaged by the presence of the dark side of the force, radiating pain through the bodies of Luke and Ben. Ben proceeds to destroy the door with a swift kick, unleashing a scream from the rear of the house. This scream didn't come from a person, but a disturbance in the force. As the pair meandered around the house, they were bathed in the dark side. A familiar voice filled Luke's head, bringing back painful memories of his past. This was the home of the most powerful Sith Lord of all time, Darth Sidious.
Emperor Palpatine's home was left untouched from the moment he left, after killing his parents and taking the apprenticeship of Darth Plagueis. Ben was unaware of the true wickedness of Palpatine in his prime, but could recognize the shocked look on Luke's face. For a Jedi Master of such power to be left stunned meant this man had to have had some extreme significance in his life.
The pair quickly break open the basement door with their lightsabers, entering the smoky room. A bright red light emanates from the far corner, giving off a dark side hum. It was the final Sith Wayfinder they needed to find and confront Snoke himself.
With the Wayfinder in hand, they rushed outside the gloomy dwelling, returning to their quarters, awaiting their ship's repair. Although Luke was very concerned that the path to Snoke was contained within the former house of the Emperor, he did not yet realize that it was Palpatine pulling the strings. He thought his encounter with Palpatine on the second Death Star was the end of his story.
As the pair awoke the next morning, they were ready to finally face their dark opponent. With their ship repaired and the Sith Wayfinder complete, a course was set for the Unknown Regions world of Exegol.
Luke had only heard rumors of there being a Sith homeworld in the Unknown Regions, but this confirms it. Ben meditated on the journey, hoping to further strengthen his connection to the light side, in preparation for their battle with Snoke.
As their ship moves into the nebulous atmosphere of Exegol, they struggle to land on the treacherous planet, as their navigation systems and rear engines are fried by the electromagnetic pulses. They enter the Sith temple, the same way Kylo Ren did in the original timeline.
To their shock and surprise, the two are greeted by Snoke. But not in the way that they were expecting. They were met by 500 Snokes. Each one in separate jars, the same ones we see in the original timeline.
The realization sweeps over Luke, as he now accepts that Snoke was simply a clone being controlled by Emperor Palpatine.
Ben and Luke rush through the laboratory, shattering every single jar that contained a clone of Snoke. The room was quickly bathed in an increasingly red mist.
Many questions flooded over Luke about how this could be possible. How did Palpatine survive? How is he able to Clone Force Sensitive beings? Why has he chosen Exegol over Morraband? During the process of destroying these jars, Sith Eternal cultists, each with their own shade of Red Lightsaber, surround Luke and Ben. They valiantly fight the cultists, eventually coming back to finish off the leader.
The Leader of the Sith Eternal Cultists would reveal himself as the Snoke who had been in contact with Ben from the moment he was born. Snoke takes out a Black Lightsaber. Ben and Luke combine their strength to fight Snoke.  Snoke is powerful, but is taken down to the combined might of master and student.
An ominous cackle can be heard from the shadows. Luke knows this laughter.  He knows the person waiting in the shadows to take his revenge for the events that occurred on the second Death Star. The Stage has now been set for the duel that was always meant to be.
Palpatine drains what’s left of the Sith Eternal and the Snoke clones to revitalizes himself. This is enough to contend with Luke and Ben
Luke and Palpatine are evenly matched, but Luke cannot continuing countering his SIth Lightning.
Palpatine has Luke at his mercy and has full intention of finishing what he started 30 years ago. What Palpatine did not count on was Ben. The boy he thought was a lost cause and thought Snoke killed him, rises and stabs Palpatine in the back. Ben grabs Luke’s Lightsaber and uses both lightsabers to finish Palpatine once and for all. Finally, the voices have stopped.
“Uncle, it’s over.” “I’m proud of you Ben.”
The First Order is still a thing. With no Snoke or Palpatine, Rae Sloane is in control of The First Order.
With Luke learning from the mistakes from the old Jedi Order, The Jedi Order is detached from the New Republic. Leia can use this since The New Republic still refuse to do anything about The First Order
The Jedi will be there for any reports or rumors about The First Order. Any raids to abduct children is prevented. Project Resurrection is an absolute failure.
Tai and Voe rescues Finn just in time, but are unable to save his family. Finn is taken in and becomes a Jedi. Voe is Finn’s master
Ben is called by the force to go to Jakku. There he finds Rey. Ben convinces Rey to leave with him and become a Jedi. Ben takes it upon himself to take Rey as his apprentice. Rey and Ben would’ve been bonded by the force through training and even find love with each other.
Palpatine and Snoke are no more and so is the dark hold that almost consumed Ben Solo. The First Order never become anything more than a fringe terrorist movement. Ben never turns. Han and Leia never break up. The Jedi and New Republic stand triumphant. Ben, Rey, Finn, Tai and Voe all rise as Jedi Knights!
This is what I think could’ve been if Ben never turned

You have great taste, so I was wondering if you have any fic recs for the OT trilogy? Specifically with Vader? Your recs are the reason that I no longer eat or sleep and exist entirely of off Ao3.
Thank you, that’s very sweet of you!  I’m glad to help with the “I should be sleeping but who am I if I’m not staying up way too late to read just twenty more chapters before finally collapsing into unconsciousness, like, WHO AM I AS A PERSON if I’m not doing that?” because I don’t want to be the only one!So, here, HAVE SOME VADER FEELINGS.  And some occasional post-Vader feelings, but that were meant to take place near the end of the OT.  This is specifically for Vader fics, but if you want other OT-era stuff, like with Luke and Leia, just let me know.  ♥VADER & LEIA FIC:✦ Just a Little Bit of History Repeating by victoria_p (musesfool), anakin & leia, 3.7k    “I’m in charge of security, Your Highness,” Vader said, haughty and automatic, and had to shove away a sudden onslaught of memories. It was this building, he thought, and the presence of a small brunette senator with a smart mouth. That was all.✦ Father’s Heart by FernWithy, anakin & leia & ocs, 38.8k   During Princess Leia’s teenage years, she discovers a friend in an unlikely – and disturbing – person: Lord Vader. ✦ Leave Me, Oh Love by AceQueenKing, han/leia + anakin & leia, 3.2k    “No offense,” she said, “but I’m not in the mood to deal with you right now.” “Leia-” Vader said, but she held up her hand. “Of all the dead people in my life, you really are the one I least want to see right now.” ✦ The Tyranny of Kinship by amarielah, anakin & leia & luke & han & obi-wan & rex & ahsoka & cast, 23.6k wip    The presence of an Alliance mole aboard the Death Star leads to Bail Organa learning quickly of his daughter’s capture. With the dissolution of the Senate, only one option remains for him to save her life: telling Vader the truth of her parentage.✦ on the day… by victoria_p, anakin & leia & obi-wan & bail/breha & cast, 6.4k    Darth Vader eavesdrops on a very interesting conversation.✦ which grows higher than soul can hope by victoria_p, anakin & leia & luke & han & cast, 8.6k    “If Vader captures you, if he threatens to torture or kill you, you tell him you’re Padmé Amidala’s daughter.”✦ Everything That Rises Must Converge by victoria_p (musesfool), obi-wan & anakin & luke & leia, 5.1k   In which Leia makes it to Tatooine’s surface after the Tantive IV is boarded, and nobody is prepared for this particular family reunion.✦ I Won’t Disturb the Slumber of Feelings That Have Died by Darkmagyk, anakin & leia, 1.6k   Leia Organa is no angel. ✦ Clarity by Orange_Clown, anakin & leia, 1k   By the time that the Imperial Forces landed on Hoth, Leia was the only one left on the base. ✦ Flesh of My Flesh by igrockspock, anakin & leia, 3.6k   Leia was not adopted. She was stolen in the middle of the night and registered to House Organa with forged papers. This was kidnapping, a class one felony, and her parents could be executed – unless she returned voluntarily to her rightful father. Immediately. A man called Grand Moff Tarkin explained this to Leia when she was eleven years old.✦ Carmine by AceQueenKing, anakin & leia, 2.7k   The Princess stirs, waking; her eyes catch him at her door and her face darkens, ready for a fight. ✦ The Trick is to Keep Breathing by AceQueenKing, anakin & leia, 3.3k    She’s older now, and so is he. Far older now. She wonders: will he have lost any power with his age? Will he be shorter, weaker? An old man on a ventilator? It’s hard to imagine that he won’t still be dangerous. But then, that’s exactly what she’s counting on.✦ Hear Me by crowleyshouseplant, anakin & leia & luke & cast, 3.2k   Leia struggles to reconcile Luke’s experience with his father and hers with Darth Vader.✦ In Which Vader Discovers He is a Father by glompcat, anakin & luke & leia & cast, 27.7k   A collection of (mostly self-contained) AUs where Vader learns about his kids earlier than he did in the canon timeline. Exploring both that moment of initial discovery, and the way the story unfolds after Vader finds Leia and/or Luke. ✦ deep as a secret nobody knows by victoria_p (musesfool), leia & anakin & obi-wan & luke & han & bail & cast, 6.3k   “If Vader captures you, if he threatens to torture or kill you, you tell him you’re Padmé Amidala’s daughter.”✦ daughter of mountains (the flesh and bone remix) by darlingargents, anakin & leia, 1.4k   Vader was Leia’s father, too. To die by his side would be the greatest honour.✦ The Gifted Child by AceQueenKing, anakin & leia & bail, 2.3k    Bail Organa watches his daughter navigate Coruscant society.  So does Darth Vader.✦ Siren Song by madame_alexandra, anakin & leia, 1.8k    Lord Vader has a crippling headache, and the source of it fascinates him.✦ The War at Home by victoria_p (musesfool), anakin & leia, 1.4k   He’s been there for all her other losses, so it feels right for him to be here for this one, too.VADER & LUKE FIC:✦ Sibling Revelry by frodogenic, anakin & luke & leia & cast & ocs, 25.5k   After Bespin and before Endor, Darth Vader is shocked to discover that Luke and Leia are twins. He’s even more shocked when Imperial Intelligence reports that Organa and Skywalker are, erm, a tad closer than previously suspected. ✦ Limpet AU byfrodogenic, anakin & luke & mara & piett & cast, 69.8k   AU. Darth Vader, having survived the Battle of Endor, proceeds to get himself and his ship lost in the Unknown Regions for twenty-five years. When he returns, he finds the Empire has fallen, the New Republic is in force, and he himself has a new role to play…Grandpa. If you have ever wanted to see Vader vs. toddler, this is your story. Fluffily humorous.✦ a walk on part in the war by victoria_p, anakin & luke & leia & ahsoka & cast, 10.3k    Luke considers this family reunion far more successful than the one in Cloud City. At least this time, no one loses a hand.✦ In Loco Pirates by izzythehutt, anakin & luke & cast, 34.9k   A down-on-his-luck Hondo Ohnaka manages to capture the unicorn of all bounties–Luke Skywalker, which sends Darth Vader, Lord of the Sith, on a painfully familiar trip to the planet Florrum to collect his prize. The failed negotiations leave Vader in the awkward position of being stuck in a besieged pirate bunker, trying to balance keeping his wayward child safe (and in his custody) with controlling the tongue of a loose-lipped pirate who–to the surprise of no one–has a bad habit of telling ‘amusing’ anecdotes from the Clone Wars.✦ Deja Vu by SkippingSteppingStones, obi-wan & anakin & luke, 2k   When Darth Vader is roused from sleep by a sob he feels strangely connected to, he is compelled to find its source.✦ Two and a Half Men (with a baby) by jerseydevious, obi-wan & anakin & luke & piett, 5.5k wip   After a long day of bargaining with Hutts and attempting to ignore his past, Darth Vader is nearing the end of his rope. When he discovers his two-year-old son, it’s the straw that breaks the semi-rational Sith Lord’s back; in a rash act worthy of the Skywalker name, he scoops his son into his arms, steals a shuttle from his own fleet, and punches in random hyperspace coordinates to a destination on the other side of the galaxy. Unfortunately, father and son are not the only ones on the ship.✦ The Family Tree by frodogenic, vader & luke, 12k   In which Luke Skywalker is stranded in a tree waiting for a flash flood to recede. Too bad he’s got company… Post-ESB oneshot, can be read as canon-compliant.✦ Out of the Darkness and Into the Sun by Spongyllama, anakin & luke & leia, 2.7k   Luke is desperate to keep his father alive after Endor, but he’s the only one who thinks Vader should be allowed to live.VADER & AHSOKA FIC:✦ trade your heroes for ghosts by victoria_p (musesfool), vader & ahsoka, 1.5k    Vader presents Ahsoka with an ultimatum. ✦ memories like ashes at our feet by ambiguously, anakin & ahsoka, 4.2k   Darth Vader was gravely injured in the explosion of the Sith Temple. Now Anakin Skywalker has no memory of what he’s doing here with Ahsoka.✦  the stillness of remembering by darlingargents, anakin & ahsoka, 2.3k   A few years after the rise of the Empire, Ahsoka starts to have a recurring dream ✦ Balance Point by Vinyarie, anakin & ahsoka, 34.3k   Ahsoka wakes up trapped beneath the rubble of the Sith temple on Malachor with the man currently known as Darth Vader. He’s a Sith lord who has done some truly awful things, but she’s certain that some part of him is still Anakin Skywalker, and she’s going to convince him of that. No matter how many times he tries to kill her for it.✦all the words i once believed by darlingargents, anakin & ahsoka, 6.8k    Anakin Skywalker wakes up after fifteen years with a body that isn’t his.✦ Precious Illusions by amarielah, anakin & ahsoka, 2.4k    In the aftermath of their confrontation on Malachor, Ahsoka pays Vader a visit. From a certain point of view.OTHER OT/VADER FIC:✦ Not Placid Stars But Singularities by iceplanet, anakin & cast (obi-wan & luminara & ahsoka & darth plagueis), 6.2k    In the weeks after Mustafar, Vader must come to terms with his new body and the remnants of his past. Hey for the prompt thing. Can you do "I feel like I can't breathe?" For Vader? or Luke?
“Are you sure about this Skywalker?” asked Antilles over the com.
“I have to do something,” Skywalker responded.
“This is a trap,” Antiless responded.
Skywalker gripped the steering yoke of his X-Wing tighter. “I know,” he said. “But I can’t let the Empire have its way with Han and Leia.”
Especially Leia, but he didn’t voice that. Their connection was a secret.
“No one else is near Bespin,” Antilles said slowly.
Skywalker knew that. Especially after the disaster at Hoth. The Alliance fleet had scattered and put as much distance between them and the Empire. And that meant no one was close enough for backup. Alliance command had suggested he wait. But the visions he had on Dagobah … of Han and Leia in pain … He couldn’t wait.
He had no trouble landing at Cloud City. R2, ever faithful, was there by his side. He stripped off his flight suit and walked into the city wearing his Alliance grey jumpsuit. His lightsaber was clipped to his belt, but he held a blaster at the ready.
Skywalker could sense him. Darth Vader. He was here. Skywalker gripped his blaster tighter. He knew he was walking into a trap, but it was one he was all too willing to walk in to. It was finally time to rid the galaxy of this Sith, this Vader. Oh, he had tried to kill Vader before. On Cymoon 1 and Vrogas Vas. But so far he had been unsuccessful.
But not this time, Skywalker said to himself as he followed the troopers that had taken Leia. Even she had warned him it was a trap.
———————-
He smiled when he was face to face with Vader. As the Sith walked down the stairs and ignited his red saber. Finally, the two fought. Skywalker was impressed with Vader’s skill. Yet, the Sith didn’t seem quite as grand as before. The way Imperial propaganda projected him, the way the Alliance whispered about him, even the few run-in’s Skywalker had with him, he always seemed so much bigger. Larger than life.
But he was just a man, Skywalker realized. Not some monster. He was smaller than Anakin had initially thought he was. Vader wasn’t anything special. Just another Sith.
A man who could fight. Kriff. Perhaps Skywalker should have practiced his lightsaber with Yoda on Dagobah. The fight continued. He was flung out the window into the reactor shaft. The duel continued along the gantry, and Skywalker made a mistake which Vader took full advantage of. He stared in horror at his right arm which now ended in a stump.
Vader stood over him. His lightsaber pointed down at the Jedi.
“There is no escape,” Vader said in his deep rumbling voice. “Don’t make me destroy you.” He deactivated his lightsaber and clipped it to his belt. “Join me and with our combined strength can end this destructive conflict and bring peace to the galaxy.”
“I’ll never join you!” Skywalker said as he pressed his back against the broken railing.
“If only you knew the power of the Dark Side,” Vader rumbled.
“Heh. I know enough,” Skywalker said in a low voice.
Vader paused. There was a slight tilt in his helmet. Then his black gloved hands came up to the helmet. He slowly took it off and placed it on the ground. What game was this Sith playing at?
“Obi-Wan never told you what happened to your son,” Vader said as his hands grabbed the mask and slowly it took it off.
“He told me enough,” Skywalker hissed. “Sidious killed him.”
Vader looked straight at Skywalker, who was surprised at how young he was. He was nothing more than a boy.
“No,” came a wheezy voice. “I am your son.”
Skywalker’s mouth fell open. He stared at the pale face covered with faint scars. The short shorn dark blonde hair. The dark grey skin around the yellow eyes that were the same shape … And the mark on the cheek.
“No,” Skywalker whispered. “No. It came out louder this time. “No! It can’t be! That’s impossible!”
His son … His little Luke had died … Oh Force … Everything spun and twisted and turned.
“Search your feelings,” Vader said. Vader? Was he Vader? Or was he … “You know it to be true.”
“No! No!” Anakin said as he leaned over. The wind snapped all around him. It was sucking the air right out of him. “I feel like … I can’t breathe,” he said to himself.
“Anakin. You can destroy the Emperor. You are the Chosen One,” Vader- no Luke! said. “He has foreseen this. It is your destiny to bring balance to the Force. Join me. Together we can rule this galaxy as father and son!”
Anakin looked up at the boy. His boy. The one he thought had been buried with Padme.
“Join me,” Luke said in a soft voice. A pleading voice. “It is the only way.”

From my heart to you
Part 7 in my Bespin AU/ESB AU series where Han and Leia escape Bespin before Breakfast with Vader, then have to deal with the “what next”. You can read the other parts here: Part 1: I know, Part 2: Jump, Part 3: Visions of the future, Part 4: Decisions, Part 5: Hear me, Part 6: And you will always find me. Title of this part was taken from a line in Depeche Mode’s song “Shake the Disease” (because I am on an ‘80s British pop kick lately).
It was a gorgeous Kashyyk night. Han had been here countless times with Chewbacca over the years, but coming here with Leia, and then returning with Luke and Leia, had helped him see the beauty of the planet with new eyes. He’d always appreciated the web of forests in Chewbacca’s clan village that gave cover to the Falcon on their visits here, the warmth of the planet’s climate, the unique plants and roots that cured a variety of ills and made a hell of an ale. He’d long loved the Wookiees, who accepted him despite his shocking lack of fur and his propensity for keeping Chewbacca away from home for long stretches of time. But he’d been surprised to find that he was nearly as eager to show Leia the planet as Chewie was. And even as they returned with Luke, they seemed to discover new things to cherish: the smell of the forest air, the dark night lit with a canopy of stars.
He was alive, safe, here with the woman he loved peacefully asleep in his arms. The only nightmare she’d had in weeks had been the night before their arrival at Bespin. Understandable, in hindsight, given what had awaited them there.
She knew. She could feel it, he thought.
Gods, he loved her, was continually amazed by her, even as he learned more and more about the person she was, the power she seemed to possess. He just hoped he’d have the chance to come back to witness it again, be part of her light.
He hadn’t been able to sleep tonight. He usually felt better than this when he’d figured out how to tackle a difficult problem. He didn’t like this idea, but the more he’d tried to come up with something, anything else, the more he’d returned to the sense that this was the best for everyone.
Take care of yourself, Han, Luke had said to him bitterly, the first time he’d tried to leave. I guess that’s what you’re best at. He’d come a long way since then, hadn’t he?
The problem was really a series of problems, with Han at the center. If he returned to the Alliance without paying off his debt to Jabba, he was painting a bigger target on Leia’s back that the one that was already there. If he tried to go pay it off, Chewie would insist on going thanks to the life debt, and Leia would not be able to be talked out of going, either. And Han would be damned to all nine hells before he would let Jabba get hold of Leia, or put Chewie back into bondage.
The solution had emerged gradually over the past two days, after they’d managed to recover Luke and his ship and return here to Kashyyk. In a way, Luke himself was the solution.
Han had no doubt of Leia’s love; he felt it, she’d said it, she’d shown it again and again. At the same time, Luke had been the one she’d felt from systems away when he was in trouble. Leia had been the one Luke had asked for when they’d found him. Han had always known they had a special connection, but seeing her hug Luke so tightly after they’d come up from the airlock, finding her holding his hand in the ship’s medbay, seeing them slip off together for a series of quiet yet intense conversations—Han knew. Leia loved Luke, too.
And Luke knew Tatooine. He would understand how bad it was to have Leia anywhere near Jabba’s palace. He would understand why Han needed to go alone. If Han didn’t make it back, Leia wouldn’t be alone. She would have someone who loved her, who understood her, whom she loved, too.
Which left Chewie, and the life debt. Chewie would never agree to forget about the debt, no matter how many times he’d already saved Han’s neck, but maybe given these circumstances he would agree to something else. A transfer. Chewie was already devoted to Leia, and he’d insisted on going after Luke, too. He could keep them away from Tatooine, see them safely back to the Alliance, look after them in Han’s absence.
Leia shifted slightly in his arms, and he gave her a gentle squeeze as she settled back down. He didn’t want to leave her; he’d never wanted to leave her. As this solution had emerged, he’d for a split second considered trying to save her pain by slipping away quietly, leaving her with a heartfelt holomessage and an explanation of why this was the best resolution, leaving Chewie with no choice but to accept.
But that was the mistake he’d made before; he’d tried to spare her feelings back on Hoth, but had only ended up hurting her more.
Things were different. He wouldn’t run away this time; he would lay it all on the line and tell her everything. Whether he made it back or not, he would do everything he could to make Leia happy. Even if that meant letting her go.
Leia had hoped they could play hooky for just one more day. Just one more day of taking walks through the woods, learning how to make stew with Malla, slipping off in the afternoon to make love in their little hut, looking on with amusement at Threepio and the little band of Wookiee younglings who had become fascinated with his stories. She just wanted to stay here, keep working and living in nature, stop being Princess Leia or Commander Organa or anything else with a title and be Leia, here with her loved ones.
But as Han had pointed out on their way to Bespin, when she’d shared her little fantasy of their just spending the rest of their lives together on the run, she couldn’t. Even if she could somehow manage to forget about the survivors of Alderaan, about the Alliance, she couldn’t ignore what was happening to the Wookiees, to the other beings of the galaxy. Han was right; she just wasn’t made to walk away. You give a damn, Leia. ‘S why I love you, he’d said.
And now this whole business with Luke had brought another wrinkle into it. Gods, she was getting tired of having these serious what next conversations. But she finally felt like she had a solution, if only a temporary one, and she needed to bring Han in on this decision. He’d not said anything about her and Luke and their frequent conversations the last two days, but he’d definitely noticed them disappearing to talk. She didn’t want to have secrets from Han, anyway; it was time.
It’s time, she repeated silently to Luke, giving him a serious look as she and Han left after dinner cleanup to return to their hut.
Good luck, he sent back. Here if you need me.
She entwined her hand with Han’s on the walk back, and he gave her a smile that seemed a bit wistful. Their silence was a less comfortable than usual, like they’d taken a step backwards.
Yes, definitely time to clear the air. Han had been acting a little strange all day, and Leia suspected that it had to do with how odd and withdrawn she’d been acting as she tried to process everything. It was so weird, that she could be completely comfortable with Luke having these abilities, but her—
“Think we oughta talk, Sweetheart,” Han said as they entered the hut.
Deep breath. “Yes, we should,” she agreed, and they sat down together on the bed.
Leia was smoothing the coverlet on the bed anxiously. She kept looking down at her lap, like she was afraid of meeting his eyes.
The hell? Leia wasn’t afraid of anything or anyone. Except her own feelings, like when—
“You love him,” he blurted out, abandoning his original plan for this conversation in an effort to let her off the hook. “Don’t you?”
Now Leia would look at him; her face turned from anxious to startled as her eyes met his. “What?”
“Luke,” Han said. It’s okay, Sweetheart, I know. “You love him.”
Now Leia just looked confused. “Well…yes.”
Han wasn’t sure how to feel about that, but he pressed on. “I get it. I understand. Good.” He took a deep breath. “And I know that you love me, too.”
Leia was giving him an inscrutable look, like she wasn’t sure where he was going with this.
“Don’t worry. Don’t want you to think you have to choose.”
She started to shake her head. “Han, I—“
“No, please, just wait. Let me get this out,” he pleaded, stopping her. If he didn’t say it now, he might not be able to say it again. “You’re—Leia, I’m—“
Why was this so kriffing hard? Oh, yeah, because I love her.
He looked down, and began again. “Never loved anyone the way I love you,” he said, lifting his eyes to hers. “And last thing I want to do is leave you. But I gotta make things right.”
He took her hand. “I’m gonna ask Chewie to transfer the life debt to you and Luke,” he said. “He’ll look after you two. I’ll go pay off Jabba, do everything I can to come back. And if I do—“ he tried to grin, though he was pretty sure it came off a little half-hearted—“and you want to be with Luke, I won’t get in the way.”
Leia blinked at him for a minute, not saying anything. Then she let out a tiny, rueful laugh, shaking her head again. “Nerfherder,” she said.
Huh?
A bit of Leia’s usual confidence and fire seemed to return. “I don’t even know where to start with this,” she said. “You’re not going to make me choose? So what, you’re gonna choose for me? No. No. That is now how this works.”
Han had expected objections, but he was still a little taken aback.
Leia was in full fire now. “Do you think I fell in love with you because we were trapped on your ship? Because you were the person who was there at the time? Is that why you fell in love with me? Because I was the only one around?”
“No! Of course not, I—”
“Exactly,” she said, pointing a finger in his face. “I fell in love with you even when I was trying not to. I love you, Han Solo, and there is nothing you can do about it,” she said, almost defiant now. “You’re not interchangeable with Luke, even if I did feel that way about him, which—it’s not like that at all.”
“It’s not?” Han asked, genuinely confused.
“No,” Leia said, and her smile returned. “I love him, but he’s like a, a—best friend. Or a brother.”
“Oh.” Read that one wrong. “But—you felt him. From another system. You got a connection.”
“Yeah,” Leia acknowledged, “and I have something to tell you about that. But he’s not you.” She looked up at him again. “Thought I made it pretty clear I wasn’t letting you go to Jabba’s alone.”
Han nodded, but he wasn’t sure where to go with this now. “Didn’t like it,” he said, “but I thought it was the right thing.”
Leia squeezed his hand again. “I know,” she said, “but if we’re going to be together, we’re in this together. We have to decide together.”
Well, hells. He had to kiss her after all that.
Leia wanted to live in that kiss, linger a bit longer, but she had her own piece to say. And if she meant what she’d said about deciding together, Han needed to hear it.
“I might have another solution,” she said as she pulled away.
Han looked at her expectantly.
“So—Luke and I have been talking,” she began, and Han nodded.
This was harder to talk about than she’d thought, but she plowed through. “He thinks I have the Force, too. Like him.”
Han did not look remotely surprised. “Uh-huh,” he said.
She stopped. “You think so, too?”
Han paused for a moment before speaking. “You always had—something. Not the same as Luke, but maybe it’s different in different people. And you knew—on Ord Mantell. On Bespin. About Luke.”
Leia felt a sense of confirmation as he spoke, like something was telling her, Yes. But she still felt really strange about it. This was fine for Luke, but she—she shouldn’t have this power. Should she?
She really didn’t want to ask, but as long as they were being honest here—“You’re—okay with it?”
There was that grin, warm, loving, reassuring. “Leia. It’s part of you. It’s always been. ‘Course I’m okay.”
Leia didn’t think she’d be this relieved, but then again, she wasn’t really sure how to feel right now. And Han being okay with this meant that the rest of this conversation would be a lot easier.
“Luke’s been away, training with a Jedi master. He wants me to come back with him, to train too.” She looked up at Han. “You could come, too.”
Han looked a little dubious, but Leia continued. “We’d be hidden away; no bounty hunters, no Empire. And once Luke and I are trained—we could help the Alliance. And take down Jabba’s whole operation,” she said.
Han’s grin returned, and this version of it she’d seen on countless missions, when she’d upped the ante on the objective. Can’t believe we’re doin’ this, but I’ve got your back, it said.
“This what you want to do?” he asked, and she loved him more for the question.
She nodded. “I think so. If you’ll come with me. I don’t want to do this alone.” She wasn’t sure she’d ever said those words before. But they were true.
“All right,” he said. “When do we leave?”

Rambles, not reviews.
I saw:
The Empire Strikes Back- In the further adventures of Leia, Princess Without a World, our heroine our heroine leads the rebels on their new base on an icy world. And if you argue she isn’t at the absolute top, well she is certainly a higher rank than Luke yet the opening crawl says “led by Luke Skywalker”! I figure she has as much right to be called leader!
Anyway, Leia is clearly bothered that her favorite sparring  partner, Han, wants to leave to pay of a debt before they can run into more bounty hunters. This seems sensible, and you would think he could just rejoin them later, but they act  as if his departure would be forever. Unfortunately little boy Lukey gets stuck out in the snow, figurative big brother Han goes to fetch him, and Leia get fretting duty was the fellas get stranded out all night. She refrains from saying how she can’t let them out of her sight even for a routine patrol.
After that gets sorted the Empire finds them. Post loosing battle Leia heads out with Han, Chewie and C-3PO with one heck of an overkill level of baddie ships on their tail. Where is Luke? Dragging R2-D2 along as wingman while he uses his saved up vacation time with a fortune cookie talking personal trainer in a pretty swamp world. Lucky buzzard.
So Leia and her gang hide out in a suspiciously organic cave tucked into an asteroid. This gives them time for repairs and Han’s idea of romance. This involves mild innuendo when she asks him to stop holding her, refusing to let go of her hands when asked, and telling her how she feels about him. She actually has fallen for him. Possibly on some level she wanted him pushing her out of her resistance to admitting her feelings, a reluctance that makes a kind of sense when everyone you love has been blown to hell. He stays this side of crossing the jerk line, and so gets a kiss instead of a punch.
Finding themselves out of the frying pan and into the fire having fled the cave bestie gullet they had been hanging out in, the gang seek refuge with Han’s old pal Lando. Lando does the charming but utterly obvious bull towards Leia, so she has sense not to trust him, even though he does provide her with her best outfit in the entire trilogy.
Surprise! Vader’s there. And a bounty hunter wanting Han. With friends like this....
So there is torture all around. Well, Leia’s torture is implied, but Han gets a good bit of screaming and Chewie gets to howl. Leia would have been an old hand with torture by then, poor thing, so maybe she wouldn’t have been as vocal. Then Leia finds her boyfriends can’t bring himself to say “I love you” even when he knows he’s about to either die or become a decorative art object. Still she doesn’t want her boyfriend hauled off to become somebody else’s end table!
Luke, having seen a vision of his friends in pain, rushes to the rescue and fails miserably. And Leia, in the middle of the whole “Han’s in carbonite/The bounty hunter has him/Vader wants me and Chewie” crisis goes to great effort to warn Luke he is walking into a trap. Luke walks into the trap anyway, the dummy. It doesn’t cost him an arm and a leg, but 50% off isn’t always good. And having been ignored about the warning, it is up to Leia to save his pathetic Jedi wannabe ass when she should be trying to save her well sculpted boyfriend.
The boys are really starting to take more energy to take care of than running a rebellion!
Tune in next time to see if Leia can juggle both her very important job saving the galaxy  and her relationship responsibilities...

I’ve got a bad feeling about this: a Star Wars fic rec post feat. Ahsoka Tano and Leia Organa
Guys. GUYS. I’m having so many Ahoska Tano feels right now YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW. So many feels that I am rewatching all my favorite bits from The Clone Wars series. So many feels that I have been reading and rereading fics over and over again. So many feels that I am coming back from the dead because I am compelled to make this rec post. So many feels that I changed my damn icon. So here it is.
Also I’ve got some Leia ones because I love Leia too and some misc. ones because they’re too good not to include. So it’s more of a “Here’s all my favorite Star Wars fanfics that happen to have a few key focus characters.” Also at some point during my aforementioned Ahsoka fanfic binge I started shipping Rex/Ahsoka by accident bUT IT IS NOT MY FAULT THE FICS ARE SO WELL WRITTEN OKAY.
In other news, I’m not in fandom so much any more, obv, so it’s not quite as thorough as my previous rec posts have been. Strictly fanfiction atm. Didn’t realize how many I’d collected until I made this list either lol. My other rec posts can be found here.

The Rogue Dreams of Stars AO3 by starbirdrampant (ineasako22) * With the DEATH STAR destroyed and Imperial forces focused on the task of eliminating the Rebellion, Rebel agents LUKE SKYWALKER and LEIA ORGANA have been sent to an unnamed planet on the Outer Rim in search of a weapon that will aid them in their fight against the Empire. Unbeknownst to them, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, missing since the Clone Wars, is trapped in a stasis pod on the planet’s surface, waiting to be awoken by either the Rebellion… or the Empire. Should they find their wayward father, the twins may set in motion a chain of events that could possibly bring the Sith Lord, DARTH SIDIOUS, to his knees... MEANWHILE, in the Clone Wars, Padawan AHSOKA TANO is left without a master in the throes of an increasingly deadly war. Without Anakin, she must become a Jedi Knight and learn to command the 501st Legion in order to find her way in a Republic that is soon to tear itself apart... Rogue One Review
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story wasn’t a tale that needed to be told—we already knew the original Death Star plans were stolen by Rebel spies—but it was definitely told very well! My favorite characters were Jyn (Felicity Jones), who provided a strong grounding force and emotional through-line, K-2SO (Alan Tudyk), who was excellent comic relief without being a buffoon, and Chirrut (Donnie Yen), whose belief in the Force despite not being Force-sensitive was an interesting addition to the mythology. And Darth Vader (James Earl Jones)…Vader unleashed was terrifying! Forget Boba Fett, I’d like a Vader solo movie. Rogue One had a wealth of well-choreographed and varied action, the scope was as epic and wide-reaching as it needed to be while keeping the story focused, and the additions to the Star Wars canon didn’t needlessly complicate or overwrite anything (though some lines and moments are certainly re-contextualized).
If nothing else, these standalone films should explore different sides of the Star Wars universe; show us new points of view rather than rehash all the same circumstances and belief systems we’re already getting from the main trilogies, and Rogue One did just that. Jyn felt totally different from fellow “plucked from obscurity” leads Luke, Anakin, and Rey. I enjoyed seeing a more morally gray side of the Rebellion through Cassian (Diego Luna). War can make things murky, even when you’re fighting on the right side, and Rogue One definitely showed that. Riz Ahmed’s Bodhi gave us a different flavor of defector than we saw from Finn in Force Awakens, so it’s good to see they aren’t resting on familiar characterizations when introducing people of similar backgrounds. Chirrut’s belief in the Force despite not being a Jedi displayed a new way of thinking about how the “common man” relates to it, which was cool. Since the Force flows through all living things, it makes sense that different people can tap into it—or at least be affected by it—in different ways (much like the Night Sisters on Clone Wars). I definitely want to see more Force “denominations” that challenge the Jedi and Sith “all or nothing” approaches. I’m hoping to see similar variation in Force-use in Rey from Luke’s training, since he wasn’t raised or trained with a strict Jedi upbringing.
I love that this series is giving us more female leads! While the women of Star Wars have generally been great characters, there are too few of them. I’m glad Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly) got to speak more than in the original trilogy, but I would’ve liked to see more than four women in the movie (and then, only Jyn had a major role). It wouldn’t have been hard to make one or two other members of Rogue One women. Still, good on them for such a diverse cast otherwise! I’ve gone back and forth on this, but ultimately I felt we got enough personality from all the characters to understand and care about them. The possible exception is Baze (Jiang Wen), who I didn’t get a great feel for outside of his relationship with Chirrut (which I read as romantic, but that wasn’t confirmed). Saw Gerrera (Forrest Whitaker) didn’t get much screentime either, but he’s been/will be fleshed out more on Clone Wars and Rebels. His inclusion here was a neat bridge from the animated shows to the films; if only Marvel Studios would do the same with their television and movie sides.
I liked that there was no opening crawl; it helped set this apart from the main story films, though I do wonder if people new to the saga were thrown off as to where this takes place in the timeline. I didn’t think I’d like a story about complete strangers whose fates were all but revealed in the opening of A New Hope, but Rogue One really won me over! I’ve seen it discussed elsewhere that doing these prequel stories could lead the Star Wars braintrust to always play it safe and tell tales about familiar mythology rather than truly expanding the universe; Han Solo could easily be about winning the Millennium Falcon from Lando and doing the Kessel Run rather than some totally new adventure from Solo’s past, and I hope they don’t fall into that trap. I don’t need every bit of world-building trivia in the original trilogy to be its own movie; that’d make these characters’ lives very small. Instead, they should think outside the Episode 4-6 box and invent new legends and adventures. Just because looking back worked for Rogue One doesn’t mean they should box themselves in completely.
If you haven’t seen it yet, Rogue One is definitely worth seeing before it leaves theaters!
4/5
Major Spoilers…
I really thought Jyn was going to be revealed as Rey’s mother, but obviously that’s not the case. I’m OK with things going this way; I enjoyed her arc through the film and the way she ended up inspiring the Rebellion into real action and getting them their first win. Galen (Madds Mikkelson) giving Jyn a Kyber Crystal necklace was a nice touch given their use as a Death Star power source, even if it seemed set up as something important that wasn’t quite paid off later on. I was surprised she didn’t get to kill Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn); that definitely felt like where her arc was going, but having Cassian do it instead didn’t rob Jyn of her agency or the dramatic weight of avenging her father. Jyn still got to complete her father’s mission, after all. Vader’s castle being located on Mustafar was a nice touch, since Palpatine will want him constantly angry and unfocused. I wonder if the reason for his bacta tank dip in his first scene will be revealed at some point; routine maintenance or the result of something like his battle at the end of Rebels season 2?
I didn’t expect them to fire the Death Star at all, so seeing minor attacks from it were surprising, effective and impressive. The whole Battle of Scarif was really well-paced and intense, while the dogfight above the shield was especially well-choreographed. Almost everyone had a mini-mission too, which was cool. Even though everyone went out fighting, the movie didn’t feel grim or depressing. I don’t know if it’s because we know they’ve helped strike the death blow against the Death Star, that they all went out fighting in honorable/meaningful deaths, or some combination of the two, but I didn’t walk out of the theater thinking things were pointless or hopeless. It’s entirely possible Carrie Fisher’s cameo specifically calling out the hope they’d won played into that, too.
Thinking back on the film, I really like how it re-contextualized and justified parts of A New Hope. If Leia’s lie about being on a diplomatic mission (to peaceful, weaponless Alderaan, no less) were supposed to be taken as a believable facade, why would they be firing on a Star Destroyer and fighting the Stormtroopers through the entire ship? They wouldn’t, but if they’re in the middle of a running chase and Vader has her dead to rights (he already knows there’s no ambassador on board), it makes more sense and makes her lie that much more brazen and gutsy. That Leia was intentionally going to Tatooine to pick up Obi-Wan for Bail also makes more sense than her randomly coming across the planet he was hiding on (and how, with the whole planet at their disposal, the droids “happened” to land right near where Ben was living). The Death Star’s massive design flaw being an intentional addition also works better than Imperial incompetence IMO. Technically, the transmissions were beamed to the “mother ship” and then given to the crew of the Tantive IV before it disconnected, but I don’t mind that bit of narrative flexibility in Vader’s Episode 4 line.
I don’t have a problem with fan service and character cameos—it can be a lot of fun if done right—but I do think Dr. Evazan and Ponda Baba being on Jedha was too much. They added nothing to the movie. Beyond that, I was happy with all the shout-outs to the canon (Here’s a handy guide to all the other cameos and Easter eggs!). For example, learning just why the Rogue Five position was open for Luke was a nice touch. It also makes sense for characters like the team in Rebels to have been present for the Scarif fight, given the Rebellion was very small at this point. I wonder if we’ll see the Battle of Scarif from the Ghost crew’s point of view at some point. Especially after Carrie Fisher’s tragic death, I’d love for Leia to become a recurring character on Rebels to detail her other early adventures with the Rebellion; it didn’t seem like this was the first time Bail sent her on a mission.
Here’s an interesting look at the large wealth of footage from the trailers that didn’t make it into the final film. I’d definitely be interested in seeing how that version went down! I also find the method of editing this film—cutting together scenes from other movies to gauge how long they typically are—a little bizarre. Those scenes should be however long you want them to be in your movie; there’s no need to look to other’s films. Visualizing the movie this way could lead to a lack of originality in basic film composition, and that’s something we definitely need to avoid.
