Anon, I appreciate you sending this because, right now, I feel like an elite status female rapper. Like CL from 2NE1 rapped in their 2011 hit, "I am the best", Be On Cloud owns me, and y'all can't tell me shit about this show.

I know I have some Wild Ass Theories and I'm always clownin' in these BL streets, but I love when my theories actually hit their target like . . .

When I knew Teacher Chadok was in a relationship with Teacher Dika since the first episode of The Eclipse.

When I knew Kanghan's house was going to be robbed and his dad would be shot since the third episode of Dangerous Romance, even though I thought Saifah would do it.

When I knew Pat was working with Joke to win over Zo since the first episode of Hidden Agenda.

I love making Wild Ass Theories no matter how crazy they are, like my belief that the twins' dad is involved in this whole murder and sex work plot in Playboyy. No matter what happened in this past episode, I still believe it and am eagerly awaiting the upcoming chaos to see how hard I clowned.

Which is why I LOVE Dead Friend Forever.

I want the record to state that no matter what happens after episode seven, that at this exact moment in time, I love this show. It makes me happy to be alive at the same time this is airing, and I'm not joking. I want to remember that at one point, this show was everything to me, and even if it goes down hill, it had all my attention in the first seven episodes. I want to appreciate it right now because regardless of what happens, it did everything right in the first half.

With the way some shows keep losing their footing in the end, sometimes we forget how good they were in the beginning, and the emo in me doesn't want to forget this feeling. Some of my favorite movies are Scream, Heathers, and Jawbreaker so this show has been giving me the explicitly queer version of kill your frenemies since the very first episode, and I love it.

My internal alarm went off the second Tee got upset that Phi was speaking to White in episode one, then the dark hand touched him making him enemy #1. I didn't like the way he told White he needed to obey him, and I feel like the dark hand wasn't too pleased with it either. It was a vibe.

And now Non has a hurt hand in the past from falling off the bike . . .

Then, Jin was the main character of the previous film, so he was either the killer or the biggest baddie.

But Phi was just so sus, that I clocked him as a killer.

Which meant Phi and Jin were the killers, but Tan has no backstory and people with no history are intentionally hiding it, so they can kill everyone and peace out.

So in my mind, Tan and Phi were regulated to the killers, Tee was the second to last to die, which I'm hoping it's by his boyfriend White who he thinks disobeys him, and the rest of the squad would die as needed. Which left Jin to be the baddie.

All of my theories could blow up at any second because we don't know if Jin actually sent that video or if his computer fizzled out before it finished uploading, so he could still be a killer avenging Non instead of a baddie who wronged Non (but he took the video and that is messed up regardless of what he planned to do with it).

But either way, I'm hoping it comes down to Phi and Jin in that forest because the show started with them.

And I don't think Jin realizes who Phi is to Non since Jin never got a good look at Phi's face in the past.

The Twitter folks spotted that Phi's dad was the police chief from the letters the boys got calling them in for interrogation in episode six.

And now the knife from episode two is showing up in the past in Non's backpack.

Up until this point, I feel the show has laid out a solid story with a good cast, and I think Be On Cloud relied on their KinnPorsche casting to throw people off in this show because who expected Us to be doomed in the first episode? That was like Drew Barrymore dying at the beginning of Scream.

People have felt off about JJ's character, but the show wouldn't really have JJ do anything bad to sweet Barcode, right?

And Barcode and Ta being paired together was a pipe dream for the Macau x Porchay shippers, so it could never happen here!

Especially because Ta and Copper won The Hidden Character, which meant they were going to be the main pair of this show, right?

WRONG!

Barcode is gonna be involved in some fucked up shit, and according to those MDL comments, people are realizing they messed up making any assumptions before this show started based on what the actors previously did.

I truly feel like BOC looked at its lineup and said "Baby Barcode was babygirled so hard for the past two years that the audience won't even think his character is capable of such things"

and I love that for us.

BOC gave these youngsters (19-23 in age) a script from Dr. Sammon and the Pit Babe writers and said "go HAM, bitches"

And the audience stays winning.

This isn't about my Wild Ass Theories coming true. This is an appreciation post for what this show has given to me up until this point - a good mystery.

Every week I have more questions and none of them feel like they will go unanswered. Is Non dead? Did Jin actually upload the video? Is Tan a killer? Why did Phi hook up with Jin? Will White finally snap, crackle, and pop like a bag of Rice Krispies treats for the mere fact that he simply wanted a nice weekend getaway with his boyfriend and now has to deal with all this bullshit?

But most importantly, when did Phi realize he was going to kill all of them after making them run around scared for their lives?

Because by time the show makes it back to the present day, I'm sure we're all going to want to watch these kids suffer in the worst ways possible.

Omg i just realized I have something tiny to add to the whole James Somerton debacle. I'm currently watching the hbombguy vid (as you do when procrastinating assignments) and I remembered something that stood out to me in James' old videos.

So I used to be a fan of his stuff. I am also a fan of Hannibal and IWTV. He made a video covering both so naturally I was very hyped. It was called 'The Gay Appeal of Toxic Love.' The vid itself was fine (I don't remember having any super strong opinions of it besides being excited to hear ppl mention Interview cuz I had recently become obsessed) but one thing did stand out to me. In the IWTV section he mentions Nicki and, naturally, his death:

"After becoming a vampire, Nicky becomes nearly catatonic, and eventually slips away from Lestat entirely. And after centuries of dealing with depression and severe mental illness, Nicky kills himself."

To anyone who's read TVL, I don't think I need to explain that Nicki had not, in fact, been around for centuries. "Nicki had lived to be 30" has been rattling around in my head since I first read it.

And like, obviously I don't expect every youtube essayist to read several long-ish novels to have a full grasp of the series' deep lore, especially when the focus was largely on IWTV and Loustat rather than the entire Vampire Chronicles. Still, it makes you wonder a bit about the quality of the research being done here. You can find the proper info in like, 5 seconds by just going on the fan wiki so I'm not sure what his sources were. And that's the issue at hand, isn't it?

At the time I felt a tiny bit smug recognizing the error but in light of everything that's been revealed, it's kind of telling. I'm not saying this part was plagiarized (I haven't found anything but others on reddit have found issues with different sections of the same video) but rereading the transcript it comes off as someone who clearly doesn't know much about Interview.... It feels like he's reading through a loose summary of plot points rather than analyzing a piece of media that actually means anything to him. It's very much Interview for people who don't know Interview which, one could argue is fair. Especially beyond book one, VC is a niche series and a lot of elements that are important to certain characters or plot lines cannot be summarized quickly for an audience unfamiliar with it. A good writer, who's done a lot of research about the specific topic they have chosen to make a video on, would be able to balance this. There is a LOT to analyze about queerness in VC and its a shame to see one of the more popular queer media channels half-assing it just to churn out videos heavily made up of other people's work. In retrospect he had several videos like that, where he would discuss things like manga/manhua communities while clearly having little knowledge on the nuance of those subjects. He was an outsider who presented himself with a strange amount of authority.

This was content created with the sole intention of propping up queer stories and history, yet it's built off stolen work from queer authors and doesn't actually care that much about exploring the communities it features. Vids like the IWTV one weren't really fact checked because it's only people like me who would might give a shit or even notice anything is off in the first place. There's a bit of a similar vibe in some of his other vids where he undermines the experiences of queer women because he clearly has not taken the time to learn about the nuances of representing queer women in media. These are things that irritated me when I first started to notice them but I put those concerns in the back of my mind because I cared about the topics he was covering and was excited to see these discussions becoming more mainstream.

The revelations of this evening have been disappointing to say the least.

(also for the record I know he made other more recent vids about IWTV but I haven't seen those and even if his account was still up I don't think I would lol

I did look at the transcript for his 'Vampires and the Gays Who Love Them' video (found from the same link I included above) and this quote about the IWTV AMC show is sending me: "Daniel has never grappled with the complexities of being gay"

So. Side order's gameplay is fantastic to me, I've completed it with all 12 palettes now. I love splatoon and I love roguelikes so this was sort of a match made in heaven for me.

Creating the OP builds, the final boss, the general colours and music and vibe of the game is amazing! Everything to do with Pearl and Marina are *amazing* and they're so hella gay it's adorable :D And I love that they're not even hiding the queer representation now. Marina having a sprawled out Pearl as her desktop background is so cute, even seeing an elevator scene where they gush about eachother, and another one where Marina worries that Acht is hitting on Pearl.

And... cannon They/Them Acht! I remember all the people on Reddit being like "it's just the marketing team mistranslating their pronouns in a tweet!" NOPE, it's in game too!

Hell yeah :D Smollusk is adorable and I love him, and maybe we finally have a splatoon villain tumblr won't turn into a tumblr sexyman since he's a literal infant xD

And Pearl Drone is so hecking cute, I love her so much!! If you spin around in the lobby she spins too, and if you stay still she falls asleep :D

I did my first run with Brella cause it's my fav and it has my beloved inkstorm kit from S2! It took me three tries before I beat the tower for the first time, but then every run afterwards with different weapons I've always cleared it (I was got bounced off the tower for that first death and the second I was caught offguard by how fast the reefslider spam is)! Brella was definitely my favourite run, but I also really enjoyed the roller and brush runs. My roughest run was with the Splatling. I had dreaded doing charger after that, but charger turned into my fastest run!

I could see myself unwinding in this mode hundreds more times. I am saying this all to demonstrate that I really love this DLC, it might be my favourite of all the single player modes so far, either that or S2 hero mode. So my following criticisms are out of love for it because it's close to perfect. So the big one is... "the dlc is too short!" I hear that a lot on both tumblr and reddit and someone inevitably chimes in with "You don't play a lot of roguelikes, do you?" I mean... do YOU? I've done over 100 runs in Wizard of Legend, and thousands of hours on Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and Etrian Mystery Dungeon. Yes it's made to be run multiple times, but when a run is only 20-30 minutes it's still only about 6 hours of content if you do all the palettes. And these could be fixed with the assets they already have! Like imagine an Endless mode where the difficulty (enemy speed and hp values and number of spawns) kept ramping up higher and higher each floor, with the leader board being kept track of on the app. Or a daily tower run to save a random cephalopod from being grayscaled - the daily inkling/octoling's palette giving you a random weapon/sub/special for that day that followed the rules of 8's Octoshot (more hacks = less chip slots). Or like a super hard difficulty mode - imagine a mode where every floor had a danger modifier, and maybe a Parallel Cannon spawns into the stage to try to hunt you down (maybe it's even invincible so you have to run away from it while doing the stage objective?) I know the Octoshot is kind of the "hard mode" (it's still not too bad though since it's basically just like starting from the beginning without hacks), but it's not fun being limited to just the one weapon type. Especially for it for people who find the regular shooters boring. I don't feel like this is an unreasonable request either, Wizard of Legend - a roguelike made by *two* people - for instance has a few options for post game challenge runs (a randomized mode, a mode where the enemies start from the highest difficulty from floor 1, an extra long run that touches on all the bosses, a BOSS RUSH mode, Curses - basically one thing gets massively buffed while a second thing gets massively debuffed). The Mystery Dungeon games tend to have unlockable MASSIVE dungeons that start you off from having nothing. (like imagine a 99 floor floor tower where you started with no hacks, and a basic shooter with no sub/special and you had to earn new weapons/subs/specials/hacks as you go). Could do the Curse style idea with extra special Marina hacks. "Hey 8, I just figured out a hack that turns everyone's Max HP to 1 - both yours and your opponents!" "This hack will make you much faster but the floors will always be dark!" Or those Bonus challenges, imagine if there was an option to do conditional runs with them. Like "Beat the Tower without using your special, unlock a specific splat tag banner" Again, I am only criticizing because I love it. It's just also the easiest and shortest of all the single player campaigns we've gotten I feel, and if they were going to lean into the roguelike genre, I wish they looked into how other roguelikes reuse assets to lengthen the gameplay and provide extra challenges to keep players interested for a long time.

AND I AM STILL MAD YOU CAN'T PLAY AS A SQUID AND THEY REMOVED THE PLAYABLE SQUIDBEATZ (half joking. Not really upset, but I do find it odd now that there's more campaigns you can play as an octoling than an inking on the switch now despite inklings being the mascots...... rotm/oe/so vs just s2hero/rotm. And I don't see why we can't just have minigames back, they remove more minigames each entry and paying to listen to music now is frustrating...) Haha... But yes, overall, I loved it. It's a 9/10 from me. Adding squidbeatz and some post game longevity / challenge modes would have made it a 10/10. I can't wait to play more, I can't wait to visit Inkopolis Square again next splatfest :')

Now, onto random observations!

The lobby has jump ramps on the back corner pillars. I don't know why!

You can turn Color Lock on in the main game and it *does* affect Side Order. It gives you permanently Blue+yellow or Blue+green ink, even in the hub area.

So with this boss, it uses the hairstyle from your S2 hero mode data to get their appearance... But I swear mine is using the feminine voice here and when being splat, despite that hairstyle being locked to masculine inkling voices in Splatoon 2? I do use it with the feminine voice in Splatoon 3. Or maybe the voices are just mixed into one here, I can't quite tell? Well it made enby me happy to see. I do kinda wish we got a challenging superboss fight with 4, these felt a bit weak.. but it seems to imply they aren't specifically 4 but Order made them based on their data... So...where is the real 4?!!! Did she never show up to work? Speaking of that boss....

Around the room are these white pipe like structures...

That will be instantly recognizable to anyone who dabbles in japanese model kits - they're sprue trees, like the kind used in Gunpla.

The robotic boss has robot model kit building pieces in the background :D

I still don't quite get the intro scene where everything goes digital on the train.... So it's implying either A) your character got Grayscaled.... But your character is fine when you go back to town... you don't even see any characters standing around suffering it's effects, they could have had some npcs spacing out or acting weird ala Persona 3... or B) you're getting pulled into the memverse too, but there's no sign of your S3 character *at all*... (though this would have been a good way to let us play as an inkling too nintendo >:l *angry woomy noises*)

Honestly I felt kinda like Acht's inclusion was sort of superfluous at first... mostly their role felt like "Pearl & Marina: *does something gay* Acht: wow these two sure are hella gay right 8? i feel like we're third wheels". I kept waiting for some kind of...reveal? Their memories are pretty much fully restored instantly rather than rolled out gradually like I was expecting...I was thinking maybe they'd, like, link them to Paul, or follow up on the recognizing Pearl somehow or being linked to the engineers that created Order or...SOMETHING, but it never came. Other than maybe dropping a hint about the person who instructed them and Marina when they were in school? Their role was really just "I'll hold the elevator and jump in for a song"... But maybe that's okay, eight and Acht are trauma victims and this was meant to be a place to heal them. Maybe it's okay that we take it slow getting to know them.

Okay that's all that's brainworming away at me for now, I'm sure I'll think of more later. Again, I really love it, definitely a 9/10 for me. I hope yall enjoyed it too :)

Hiya I know you're a safe space and I need to get this out, so sorry in advance 🙃.

I see how amazing canon bi buck is for the queer community and I don't mind how it happened in canon. But while I should be happy, I actually kind of feel like I'm mourning? I'm so attached to eddie, maybe unhealthily so, and the ensemble found family dynamic is what first brought me to the show. For a while it's been a struggle having the fandom basically shove buck into every spec or storyline and act like he is a perfect angel and the centre of the universe. But there was always the eddiezers and it was more balanced. But now literally EVERYBODY is all about buck and tommy. It feels like the rest of the show doesn't even exist. I know its only been a couple of days but going on social media now just makes me anxious and idk why really. I'm worried about future eddie storylines, I'm desperate for marisol to disappear, but the vibe is that now buck is bi nothing else matters, we've won apparently, who even cares about eddie or the other characters because buck kissed a man.

1) the first few days after an episode, any episode but especially one like this, isn’t indicative of fandom as a whole. Emotions are heightened due to what happened in the episode. Everyone is screaming about something and it’s in your face ya know? This week something HUGE happened, so yes people are talking about it. It was to be expected. We must make space for people to be happy about it. It’s a beautiful thing and queer joy MUST be celebrated.

This show (for the most part) has done a beautiful job of giving each character their time to shine(some more so than others but thats a conversation for a different day). Coming off 7x04, yes the headline is Bi Buck. And it will continue to be for a while, but it’s important to remember that YOU curate your fandom experience. I don’t blame you at all for what you’re feeling, ESPECIALLY as an Eddie girlie(gn), like I get it! Trust me! I’ve had to carefully maneuver through some emotions this week myself. I’m human! But filtering and being able to step away is everything.

Being excited about the storyline and also hoping and wanting more from other storylines are two things that can be true at the same time. It’s not one or the other. Remember that.

Oh do I ever! Thank you so much for asking.

I haven't thought about it much so bear with me, this isn't gonna be structured. Like, at all. This will lose coherence quickly.

Ward is gay. He was actually the first character while reading these books wehere I was actively looking at him and decided that he was gay, or at least could be if the author would write queer characters. I don't even quite remember what it was that sparked that believe in me, but something about the way we saw him portrayed made me think that he was. He was the first zoo kid next to Aubrey, and he was very much the awkward kid, and he was very protective of all his siblings. The way he kept fighting with Justin also could've been the start of a funny enemies to lovers dynamic, but that was only for like, a book or two. Him so desperately not wanting to be like his womanizing dad was also a thing where I was like: "Valid, but also, maybe you are so uncomfortable with that idea because you might not be into women? Who knows.

Vinny gives me the vibe of randomly dropping lore about himself. Like he'll be making burgers and talking and suddenly go "Oh yeah, I slept with some guys, it was fun, but you know, nothing too special. Except one, but that one moved across the country and he's got a girlfriend now so..." and never mention it again. It's just the vibe he's giving. Also in the bad boy era to infiltrate the gang? He could've been pullingggggg.

Lance is kind of a wild card. He is kind of the cute a little awkward guy, but at the same time very outgoing. He's described as pretty feminine or "pretty" at times which is something that is coded as something queer a lot of the times, guys being more feminine or pretty. Might have had something with a guy, might not have, I am leaning towards definitely a little bicurious, but I can't quite tell.

After a lot of thinking I decided Freddy either discovered he liked men during his time in Juvie, or he is somewhere on the ace spectrum. This man probably would make the dirtiest jokes known to man but when someone actually approaches him he's like: "No thanks, but hey, I wouldn't mind some food, wanna get some garlic bread?" He was kind of one of the hardest to pin down, but I think that's where I am at now.

Brandon I'm not sure about. Brandon we haven't seen much off, and he might just be straight. But you best bet that that man makes the whole world look rainbow in pride month the way Jesper can make it black and white. He is an Ally to the max.

Kayden is a kinda tricky one. Because like, if he does like men, he was probably always at least somewhat aware of it considering where he's from. He grew up on an island witht he warriors of Maui, and of course there would've been nothing sexual happening cause they consider each other family, but he's definitely discovered pretty early that he likes men if he does like men.

Now if it comes to dynamics within the group, not entirely sure. They all consider each other siblings to some degree, so it would be absolutely awkward. But I can see either Kayden of Vinny being the queer awakening for a lot of them, especially ward. But that's honestly most of what I got rn

So most of my thoughts are compiled in the aforementioned anon post, but I have more so here you go:

Since you mentioned Colin's arc, there's something I've noticed. Ever since Colin has been canonicalized as queer, and even before when people simply headcanoned him as queer, his entire arc and history has been pretty much erased. He's not just this closeted guy on the team. He was a dick to Nate for the most of s1 and maybe even some of s2, but then had an uno reverse card pulled on him and got bullied. His character was developed throughout the seasons, especially when Jamie left. He began to change and stopped being Isaac's cocky right hand man. This is something most people forget as he progresses, something I think we need to remember simply because it's a part of his character.

I think that when Isaac and Jamie find out Colin and Michael are dating they will not let Colin forget Michael's height. Isaac definitely makes fun of Colin's height even though he's the same height as Jamie, so for him to be dating a man smaller than him? Instant comedy.

As for bisexual Jamie... firstly, just look at that man. Singular dangly earring. Ridiculous sitting positions. Eyebrow slits. Istg if he turns up one day with black nail polish I'm gonna throw something at my computer. But also, I think he doesn't really understand attraction to men. Obviously, with a dad like that, he has his fair share of toxic masculinity hurting his chances of coming to terms with any kind of sexuality. But I feel like sometimes, maybe as a kid or maybe as an adult, he'll look at a man and feel something and immediately go "Nope this is jealousy I am jealous nope nope nope". Also he definitely had a crush on Roy as a kid. But I'm not to sure about Jamie x Roy in the present. They strike me as more big brother/little brother vibes, but I can definitely see where the shippers are coming from.

And since we're talking about gay Ted Lasso - Barbara 100% has a crush on Rebecca. It's just a fact. She has a crush on her. Maybe that will segway into bisexual Keely being brought back because even though it's already canon no one talks about it.

Actually, I'm going to touch on that as well. Keely is canonically bisexual. Colin wasn't the first queer character - Keely was. "If I'm going to dip my toes back into the lady pool, I can't think of a better body of water to do it with than you." I know it was played off as a joke but it's still canon. I'll actually be quite disappointed if they don't revisit that because the GA has completely ignored it. Keely. Jones. Is. Bisexual. This is a fact.

Okay I've once again diverged from the plot of the ask so I'll steer it back with a theory (kinda). I mentioned this briefly in a post but I really want Colin to stand up against Isaac and the team's comments. Nothing much, just "That's rude". And when Isaac jokes about if Colin's gay, he just says "Yeah. I am. And I want you to stop it". He needs to address the things he said to stay in the closet and I'd love it to be like that.

I actually wrote a random fluff oneshot for Colin coming out. I still think he'll be outed, but I'd love for him to have some control before that happens.

Travelling Solo As a Young Woman: the do's and don't's

If you follow my Instagram, you'll know I spent a little bit of time abroad this year, following the sun from Australia all the way to Europe, just like every other Aussie from the east coast.

This wasn't the first time I've travelled, but it was the first time I did some of it completely solo without the comfort or fall back of a group tour or friends to meet up with.

As a 29-year-old, I have heard everything from the horror stories to the fairytales about why you should solo travel, and I'm here to tell you, it IS worth it.

I won't blabber on about how amazing it is and what a great time I had, because travelling is obviously one of my passions and I know how travellers can sound droning on and on about how good their most recent trip was.

That being said, it was amazing - but it wasn't without its downsides.

I'll start off with the negative aspects of solo travelling and end with the great ones.

First of all, it is scary - no matter how old you are. Particularly if you don't like being by yourself or you're not used to it. The first two days I was solo I definitely needed the me-time, but after that I was fully thrown into the deep end of introducing myself and meeting new people. For me this wasn't an issue - I am a generally friendly person and enjoy meeting new people, so I would just go right up to people and chat or make conversation with the people in my hostel rooms. This is obviously very specific to hostel situations, but the most important thing to remember is that if you are solo travelling and staying in and out of hostels, you are all there to meet new people and the other people staying there are most likely in the same situation as you or are expecting people to come and talk.

The other fear factor is for women and queer identifying people - being alone can be scary and often a threat to your safety. On this front I would say there are a few things that you can do to avoid getting into a bad situation.

The first one is ALWAYS trust your intuition !!!!! I cannot scream this enough. There will be times when you just know the vibes are off, trust those moments and get yourself to a safer environment or away from the people making you feel that way.

The second one is to be very selective of who you tell that you're travelling solo, particularly when you meet new people. One of my favourite ways to avoid the question of "are you alone" is to say I'm on my way to meet my friends, or that we are doing different activities that day and that we're meeting later. This gives the impression that people are waiting to hear from you that are immediately accessible should something go wrong.

The second tip I have for anyone looking to travel solo is to PACK LIGHT!! I didn't take my own advice and let me tell you, two months of dragging around 22kgs was DRAINING.

I would also recommend to get a backpack bag if you can - like a hiking bag. I'm travelling again in May and I will be investing in a bag that I can carry. Particularly in Europe, the stairs are abundant and everywhere. The roll-wheel suitcases are so irritating to pull around and if you have bad luck like me and many other people I met this year, the wheels can't take cobblestones and WILL break.

The third tip I have is to really think wisely about your itinerary. Make sure your travel days aren't ridiculously long because you didn't take into account train or plane transfer times. Also take night buses if you can in between locations - I did this in Turkiye between Olympos, Cappadocia and Istanbul and I'll be doing it again the next time I travel. Overnight buses save you a load of cash in flight fees and also a night's accomodation that you wouldn't be using. Plus it cuts out a travel day and you can enjoy more time in your destinations!

My last tip is to have fun. There will be people who put you down, think solo travel is stupid or try to dissuade you from going on the trip of a life time. I have heard all the shit that can be said when it comes to solo travelling from family members, acquaintances and people who don't even know me - I ignored it all and have had multiple amazing trips. So many of my life long friends have been made from travelling and I have learnt so much about myself along the way.

I think everyone should solo travel at least once in their life, we are all better people for it.

people really seem to think that because i find shipping him with aloy inappropriate, and you guys greasy for doing it, that i must hate him. i don't. he's charming, with a way about him that's hard to ignore (himbo energy). he tries his best to be there for the people he cares about and loves super hard. he's great at public speaking and rallying people to his cause, whatever that may be in the moment. he's incredibly loyal to his job even if that means bending avad's requests to fit what he deems most important in the moment. plus avad respects him so much that he doesn't care!! and his underlings on the vanguard will NOT let go of the crush he had in hzd, to his humiliation as we see the confrontation with aloy followed by his drunkenness at barren light. he has good taste in music, the soul of a metalhead, and a heart of gold. he lost his sister as aloy came into his life, and there's every context clue to show that this crush fizzled out as he came to respect aloy more as an equal. he said something along the lines of "i thought i was a bigshot talking to a pretty girl from a tiny tribe... now i see i was lucky just to get a minute of your time" and the ereloys takes this as some proclamation of love when to me and many others it comes off as a transition within their relationship towards mutual respect and appreciation.

Do you think that patriarchal blessings could be homophobic/heteronormative in terms of who you're supposed to marry? I am a lesbian and my blessing details me finding my husband and the 4+ children that we're supposed to have together, and it honestly feels like God has 0 understanding of me as a human being because I don't want to marry a man, nor do I want any children.

Am I crazy for thinking maybe these AREN'T the words that I was supposed to hear about my actual life and instead something that I was TOLD rather than what's meant for me? I've always, ALWAYS been taught that the patriarchal blessing is law and something that you cannot escape as long as you are faithful, even if you don't want those blessings.

I just don't feel like I've ever really heard any LBBTQ+ members talk about their patriarchal blessings in terms of their queerness and I was interested for your thoughts.

Patriarchal blessings are a strange beast to figure out. Not quite scripture, not quite fortune telling, mystical yet codified.

I think you’re right that most blessings use gendered terms where those specific genders are inaccurate. I think that comes down to the way we receive the blessings. I imagine each Patriarch is different, but the way they receive revelation on what the blessing should say ought to be reasonably similar to the ways other revelation is received.

That is to say, with a few exceptions, revelation tends to be a vibe that is put into words. The vibes may be 100% accurate, but the words are going to be limited to the patriarch’s vocabulary.

For example; my blessing contains the following line: “I bless you that at the right time you will find a young lady…and that you will be happily married.” Now, knowing that I am bisexual, a “young lady” is is not the only option. Also, as I creep into my 30s a young lady is becoming one of the more problematic options. But here’s the thing: I received my blessing in 2008. Same sex marriage was legalized in the USA in 2015. My patriarch was probably in his 70s at the time. So, the idea that someone could marry either gender was probably not a possibility he had ever really considered. Not part of his vocabulary, you see? As for the “young” part, I’m convinced that this man would call any woman he met a young lady as, what he would consider, a sign of respect, regardless of age.

So he got an impression: “this person will get married at the right time to a good person.” Given the local culture and his own vocabulary, he said “at the right time you will marry a young lady”.

What I guess I’m trying to say is that the blessing itself isn’t the written words on the page. The ink on paper is just an access point. Something you can reference in your questions to God. I.e. “in this line, the patriarch said this, what did you tell him to prompt that?”

In your case it may be that God told the patriarch that you and a partner will lovingly care for and protect others. Because of the limits of his social and cultural vocabulary, he interpreted that to mean marriage with children.

It might be helpful to try and make an “Inspired Version” of your blessing. Prayerfully go line by line and rewrite it in your own words as the spirit dictates. Be sure to recognize that you, too, have a limited vocabulary to work with, and you may want to revisit and revise in the future.

Now, as for this:

I believe that you were taught incorrectly. God respects your agency, even if humans don’t. He will not give you a “blessing” that you don’t want. It’s important to remember that all teachings not directly from the spirit come from imperfect mouths. If a teaching doesn’t pass the smell test for you, there’s probably a good reason.

There are mortal things and there are divine things. As part of the Plan of Salvation, we are largely cut off from the divine things for our protection. As long as we get our information of the divine through flawed mortal tools we can easily be forgiven for getting things wrong. If you don’t understand your patriarchal blessing, that’s ok. You probably never will fully understand it. As long as you try to understand, that’s enough.

As for your second question wertewqqwertew YOU'RE TOO SWEET!

I can't even say what influences me anymore. I just go with it. I will say when I was first starting (and sometimes when I'm stuck on style and lewks -- I'm assuming that's what you mean by designs, if not lmk!), I used to look up the vibes inspired by their zodiac signs. Sometimes even their enneagrams and that would give me a direction.

Personality and history also helps. Collecting looks you see around/that inspire you and saving them for when you have a character that fits.

Like, for example, you have Kendis and you have Bethany Josnel and you have Alana

I sometimes joke that Kendis is a Leo born as a Taurus. So I usually gravitate to lion aesthetics for Kendis (especially og and twc Kendis). Reds and golds. Kendis is also so vibrant and LOUD, so those colors work for them. She's bossy but she's fun -- so it's like satin suits with flower designs on them. Sweater sets but with bold patterns. Kendis' father is an artist and their mother is a park ranger, they grew up very black but in a very midwest area, so you're gonna get the protective hairstyles with outfits that marry those vibes. They're also so highly queer, and have always been, so the style needs to hint at that. (I try my best) Kendis is actually one of my more unique but also more difficult characters to dress sometimes, because for me there's a lot of beats. But sometimes I see a look and I'm like that's just SO KENDIS.

For Josnel -- it really was just like dang, I haven't had a character who dresses in oxfords and slacks in a while. I call his style grandpa core. LMAO. Honestly, it fits his personality: shy, reserved, responsible. It went the same with his on stage style. I liked the idea of having someone introverted that showed a vivid part of themselves through their music. I usually don't make musicians, so I felt it would be fun to have a character who had such a distinct persona. I felt loafers vs flower pattered boots was PRETTY distinct, lol.

Alana is pretty straight forward -- a romantic and a fashionista. I haven't had such a girly character in such a long time. I was also influenced by her FC, Zion was wearing soft make up and dewy lipgloss one day, and I was like yes, a face for romantic academia. LMAO. A face for flirty cottagecore. (And maybe it's not my place to say as a cis woman, but absolutely and always in love of that tiktok of that trans girl swirling in her skirt for the first time. Isn't it just so fun to go WHEEEE!!! And that's Alana. She's soft and flirty and sweet and she wants you to twirl with her.)

I hope this helped in a way. But in the end follow your heart, and your eyes! I think my designs just fit the character (other than Kendis' which I am very proud of), I don't think they're like ~special~? But you're saying they are! And what I do is trust where they lead me/fits my babies, and I think trusting your instincts will help you too.

i literally just finished reading ta6 so i have a lot of thoughts about it, in no particular order:

Callum irritates me. he's portraying himself as a cackling supervillain and yet rarely if ever does cackling supervillain things. mostly he just complains about everyone being too boring for him to bother with (meanwhile he's a white south african heir of greek royalty ... sir your inner monologue is classist in the extreme)

Tristan also irritates me, but for different reasons. he's incredibly whiny. and not like sopping wet pathetic little meow meow like just whiny and pathetic. complains about not knowing about himself or his powers but never does anything about it or searches for answers. no spine. refuses to give even a hint of a tragic backstory.

Reina my aroace queen <333 she was so undeveloped here it's insane but EYE saw her crazy powerful abilities and burgeoning god complex. EYE love her. everybody who didn't, skill issue. wish she had more screentime but i do remember liking her plot in the next one. also the plant monologue to her is really fun bc i too would be crazyyyyyy annoyed by that

Nico straightforward king. liked him less this time around than the last time but i think its bc he has less like. depth? mystery? than some of the others. sweet charming king tho, i love him and gideon

Parisa oh my god. oh my GOD. do i want to be her or be with her. unclear. both. she could kill me and i'd thank her. telepath, ruthless, ambitious, manipulative. what's not to love (except for her fixation on dalton like .. girl get up you can do better than this i know his mind is a puzzle but still :/)

i love libby (maybe a little too much, rip me) and i wish yall would stop talking ab her damn hair is NOT that big of a deal!! get a life!! don't yall have murder to be worried about, why are you so worried that libby likes to ask questions!!

this is very much a character-driven book. it runs on vibes and sexiness alone (i'm being so serious here). if you like a plot-driven book, now is the time to bow out because it only gets worse

the science in this book is kind of fun but very fantasy, if you catch my drift. very much, using science principles in the service of explaining the magic system (which is still very... undefined? world-building could use some work tbh)

ultimately, i am seeing how this book both did and didn't set itseulf up for success in the second book. it has a good cliffhanger, it introduces a unique setting and unique, fleshed out characters, but it fails to introduce an overarching plot problem. something that warrants this being a trilogy and not just a magical murder mystery.

it's also incredibly up its own ass about EVERYTHING so if you're really anti-pretentious writing you will dislike this book

and again, this is just the story of a love-hate platonic-romantic queer polycule that may or may not kill each other. and the book rides off that pretty heavily

6. 🦸‍♂️What is your most rewatchable Marvel movie?

Oh dear, that's a difficult question. The thing is I don't rewatch Marvel movies a lot currently? I used to a lot more when I was younger. I used to watch more movies then in general so that might be it. Hmmm, let's go for Eternals. I really enjoyed the movie when it came out because of the stunning visuals, amazing cast and storyline about a group inside the Marvel Universe I did not know anything about. (The only thing I remember really hating when I watched it in cinemas for the first time was that some of the costuming looked weirdly cheap to me)

13. 🤩Are you optimistic about the future of the MCU?

Yes and no. I am so grateful for movies like The Marvels, Eternals and Black Panther and shows like Moon Knight, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Wandavision and so many more for showing that being a hero doesn't mean you have to be a neurotypical straight white cis man. That there is a future not just in Marvel but in the media landscape in general for poc, queer, neurodivergent, disabled and non-men and it gives me hope. But we also have just absolute disasters like the queer rep in Loki which turned me off ever finishing/watching that show (besides the implied selfcest which I simply don't vibe with) or the white-washing of characters (like Wanda for example) or the effort of trying to make fascism look cool to sell toys or the absolute shredding of characters, character arcs and plot points that made an effort to be more than just 'hero kill bad people' just because some script writer or director couldn't be arsed to look at the existing content or even have someone coordinate that in a way that makes even a lick of sense. But i digress. I have mixed feelings. It always ends up being a question of who makes the content we consume. In the end it's Disney and we all know what Bob Iger cares about, especially after the strikes this year.

But in all seriousness, I gave it some thought and out of all of them, Artem being trans would make the most sense? Just the way he is as a person? You know? *Vaguely gestures with my hands*. One thing that stood out to me was how touched starved and touch averse he seemed? I know it's contradictory but as much as I remember, he was always hesitant to touch Rosa and would be an absolute mess when touched by her?

So what if, it's because he doesn't want to make others uncomfortable with his touch, especially if it's a woman? (And especially if he likes that woman). Because he was made uncomfortable by others, in this case mostly men, when he was younger? I've noticed that most men are far more likely to just casually touch women? Even if the touch isn't sexual/romantic in nature? Like a brush of a hand here, holding a woman's waist while you're passing her in a tight space? Like, you wouldn't do that to a man, so... Artem is just very aware? Like, aware too much, to a point where he can never relax among others?

I might be projecting too much! So please ignore this if you don't agree! It's just something I noticed! Me and my trans friend, we talked about something similar recently - noticed that he would be a bit hesitant to be more physically affectionate with me and we had a long conversation about it!

And... I haven't touched the game in about half a year! 😅 I still love the game! I just "play" it vicariously through you! 😂 So there might have been more things revealed about Artem I'm not aware of!

while i am in no way an artem expert (thats sam) and am pretty behind on his cards, i still shake ur hand so much cuz UR SO RIGHT.

like, listen. at this point ive got a schrondinger's headcanon where certain members of the nxx team or the ENTIRE team is simultaneously not trans or definitely trans/experiencing gender in a non-cis way. yes they are. all the time. but only when it sparks joy in me. also all the time. do u understand, i understand. still, i deffo understand and adore why artem also gives of trans vibes.

like, so much of artem's extreme carefulness with matters of the heart or even just matters of relating to other people personally, the fact that he goes about this in a meticulous and often overthinking manner because he hasnt done it/gotten the chance to experience it much before is something that resonates a lot with a bunch of queer identities. the fact that he holds a lot of himself and his personality/interests close and not many people know him on a personal level, that also resonates with queer experiences. the fact that certain things that are "obvious" to other people are things that are not as obvious to him, also queer (and also also something i like to interpret as a neurodivergent trait, but thats a whole other ask response). hell, even the notion that artem is doing things "later" than is usually expected (like romance).

all of these things (which i guess can be mushed into the over-arching statement of "over-thinking because we didnt experience the world on the usual timeline many other people experience and thus we have to be extra careful to avoid failure") fit well with a BUNCH of queer experiences, methinks
