【 shared breaths, beating hearts 】
prompt #7: They were hiding from the teachers/others and it’s very close quarters in here, he could feel their body against his (ft. ruggie bucchi, azul ashengrotto, rook hunt, jade leech)
gn! prefect (you/yours), drabbles, word count: 1.4k
a/n: hello. i’m back at it. bc i’m determined to finish these asap. also bc it’s nice to write something short n sweet in between the other longer stuff i’m currently writing. enjoy ^^
Tumblr media
Ruggie Bucchi
"Ruggie, what—!"
"Shh!" Ruggie pressed a palm against your mouth, his heart thudding in his chest. He had finally lost the mob of angry students a few turns back, and you just happened to be the lone person in the hallway.
So what did he do? Well, he dragged you into the storage closet with him.
"If ya keep quiet, I'll tell you what's happening," Ruggie whispered into the space between you two. Thinking about it now, this storage closet was quite cramped...
"Those students were...a little mad that I got the last sandwich for Leona-san," Ruggie swallowed, trying to ignore the fact that you were practically pressed against him.
Your hand grabbed at his lapel, "You used Laugh With Me?"
"Shishishi~ You know me too well," Ruggie could see your glower and he pouted. "I didn't steal it. I just stopped them from getting to the sandwich before I did." You sighed, and Ruggie swallowed as he felt your breath hitting his neck.
That was the exact moment that you leaned forward, your head landing on his shoulder.
Ruggie felt his heartbeat against his throat when he spoke, "W-What...what are you–?"
"I'm leaning on you."
"Yes, but," Ruggie felt your arms snaking around his waist, making his fur stand on end. "No, I meant why?"
"If we're going to be stuck here, I want to be comfortable," You grumbled and Ruggie felt himself stiffen again as you hugged him tighter.
He...really brought this upon himself. So he can't technically be mad, per se, but it was still dangerous. He just hoped that you wouldn't be able to hear the way his heart was beating like crazy.
Ruggie rested his chin on your head. Well…this wasn’t that bad either. If he had the excuse to hug you like this, feeling your warmth seeping right into his bones, then he would definitely milk the moment for all it was worth. After all, there was no place in the world he would rather be than your arms.
Tumblr media
Azul Ashengrotto
Azul was in trouble. And this time he didn’t have a convenient scapegoat to blame for his headache. Rather, he caused this problem all on his own. How else could he explain the fact that he was hiding underneath a grand piano with his…crush?
“Uh, Azul?” You whispered, and he stifled a gasp. It served as a reminder of how little space there was under here. For such a big piano, you would think that there would be more space. “Why are we hiding?"
“I…”
Why were they hiding? Long story short, Azul had been caught playing the piano by you. And then he heard the twins coming down the hallway. And then he panicked, pushing the tarp over the piano and dragging you under with him. The normal Azul wouldn’t have panicked. He would have put the piano away before the twins could see, and all would be well.
But there was nothing normal about how hard his heart was beating right now.
“The twins always tease me whenever they catch me playing,” It was an excuse that he was pulling out of his ass, but it was better than admitting ‘your presence startled me enough that I lost my cool’.
He fought not to flinch when your hand suddenly landed on top of his, “Oh, I’m sorry, I… I just wanted to say that you shouldn’t be ashamed, your playing was amazing.”
If he didn’t die from the mortification he would feel if the twins found him hiding underneath a piano with you, then he would certainly die from the sweetness of your words. Coupled with the fact that he could see the smile on your face, it was a lethal combination. He hated how weak he was to you.
“Huh. I never noticed how blue your eyes were,” You said, as if you just made a passing comment on the weather.
Oh Sevens, take him now. Azul would not last another five minutes with you.
Tumblr media
Rook Hunt
Rook had hid in his fair share of bushes in his life. It was a given, especially when he was out hunting. Natural cover was the best cover, after all. Yet the usually comfortable position felt slightly…different right now.
Especially with the fact that you were under him. Pressed against the autumn leaves like this, you looked absolutely brilliant. He wished that he could capture this moment and keep it forever. And if he wasn’t trying to be quiet he would’ve told you all that and more.
“Rook, what’s— what’s happening?” Oh, you seemed afraid, your fingers digging into the fabric of his sleeve. He reached out, pressing gloved fingers against the furrow of your brow.
“Mon cher, do not fret,” Rook consoled. “C’est simplement. It is just a passing deer. Take a look to the side.” You turned your head, the hesitation melting into a look of wonder as you spotted the deer grazing not too far way from the two of you.
“Woah, that’s…that’s beautiful!” You exclaimed in hushed tones. His cheeks almost hurt from how much he was smiling around you.
“Hmm, c’est vraiment,” Rook murmured, his eyes all but pinned on the way the leaves seemed to cast shadows over your face in what he would say was a hypnotizing pattern. “Deer startle very easily, so we should keep quiet.”
You nodded eagerly, “I’m glad you asked me to take this walk with you.”
Rook almost wanted to echo your sentiment. He wasn’t one to shy away from expressing his absolute infatuation toward you, but it felt very different when you were just a mere few centimeters away from him. He could almost feel the redness like a thick second skin around his cheeks and neck.
“Let’s just…stay here for a while,” Rook said instead. “To watch the deer.” It was a baldfaced lie on his part, but if it meant that he could spend a few more moments here with you…a little white lie wouldn’t hurt.
Tumblr media
Jade Leech
"Jade Leech."
"Ahem. Yes?"
"Could you please explain why I'm—"
"Shh," Jade leaned in a little closer, relishing in the way your shoulders jumped. Really, he didn't mean to orchestrate this situation. He was running away from one of Crewel's lectures about spore safety. (He had basically internalized Crewel’s monologue by now.)
But well, who was he to refuse the chance to tease you?
That was why he shifted closer, much closer than necessary as he continued, "If I don't come closer, Crewel will surely discover us."
"But why are we hiding in the first place," You hissed, grabbing at his wrist.
"I may have...accidentally grew some mushrooms in the flower bed he was saving for class—"
"Accidentally my ass," You grumbled, though you didn't try to push him away again. Instead, you stilled, and he could appreciate the way a cut of sunlight danced against your skin. He could practically see the flush overtake your face as he kept staring. He knew that you noticed.
Another idea popped into his head.
Jade opened his mouth, “If I may, what if you—“
“I swear to the Seven if you propose that I sit on your lap, I’ll—!” You fought for your words a bit. “I’ll actually bite you!”
“My,” Jade couldn’t help the surprised expression, a slow smile growing on his face at your provocative words. You never ceased to amuse him, with your expressions, your behaviors, and your words. He just wanted to see more and more of your reactions. Maybe that was why he was so very fond of you.
“I would never suggest something so…risque. And biting me?” He could see you gulp as he leaned that much closer, his forehead almost touching yours, “Are you prepared to face the consequences of suggesting such a thing?"

I'm On Trial Waiting 'til the Beat Comes Out (buddie one-shot)
Notes: To begin I want to say this fic was inspired by a post I saw on here a little while ago. So I want to give credit to that post and to @smilingbuckley for the premise. It was too funny not to write it. About halfway through writing this I also became aware that she had written and posted her own fic (which I will be reading asap).
Summary:
“There’s someone here to see you.”
“To see me?”
Bobby looked a little apprehensive. “Well, they want to start with you. Said they want to talk to all of us.”
Buck finished tying his left shoe. “Okay…but what is this about?”
“Professional Standards Division,” Bobby said. “Is there any reason they may need to speak with you, Buck?”
-
Internal Affairs is back at the 118, this time dealing with a more personal matter. The question at hand, are Buck and Eddie in a romantic relationship?

It happened on a Tuesday.
Buck was in the process of getting his shoes on, when Bobby rapped on the glass to catch his attention. He was ready to make excuses for why he’d arrived a little late, but Bobby spoke first.
It had been nearly a month since their last visit from internal affairs. Buck thought that things had been fully cleared up especially after they all got praised for the acquisition of a chopper instead of promptly fired. He couldn’t imagine that it was somehow coming back around. He couldn’t think of anything else, unless there had been some kind of complaint. That did happen on occasion, but it didn’t require someone from the professional standards division to come down. Usually it was just a conversation with Bobby.
“I have no idea,” Buck said.
“Well, head up to my office,” Bobby said. “I’m sure it’s nothing.”
Except that from the way he said it, Bobby clearly didn’t think it was nothing. He also definitely did not know what it was.
Assistant Chief Gilbert was someone Buck had met maybe one time and it had definitely happened at a multi-alarm fire where everything was chaos and there was no time for real introductions. She sat behind Bobby’s desk, leaning back in the chair and eyes trained on a tablet. Her eyes flitted up when Buck entered, but returned back to the screen for a long moment.
“Firefighter Buckley,” Assistant Chief Gilbert said.
“That’s me,” Buck said.
She smiled, flashing very straight and very white teeth behind the red lips. “You can sit. I don’t think this will take long. It is necessary.”
“May I ask what this is about?” Buck asked.
Gilbert sat up, leaning forward. “Something has been brought to my attention that couldn’t be ignored. There is a reason that family members working for the LAFD don’t usually belong to the same firehouse, why it’s a bit murky when things like this do happen.”
“If this is about Chim and I — I mean, he’s not even my brother-in-law yet. And shouldn’t he be—”
She cut him off with a shake of her head. “No, Firefighter Buckley, this is not about Firefighter Han. This is about you and Firefighter Diaz.”
Buck had no response to that. His mouth was open, but no words came out. He could only stare at her, surprised and shocked because…what did he and Eddie have to do with anything.
“Eddie and I aren’t related,” Buck said, when he finally found words.
“That is not what I’m saying,” Gilbert said. “What has come into question is the existence of a romantic relationship between you and Firefighter Diaz. It has been observed and documented and there are just too many instances that have made this a concern. So now, there are questions to ask to determine if keeping you at the 118 is viable.”
“No,” Buck said with a shake of his head. “We’re…no, we aren’t together. He’s my best friend. Nothing more. I don’t know why anyone would think we’re dating. That’s crazy.”
Gilbert frowned. She touched her tablet and seemed to scroll. “For now, I have a few questions. This is an investigation, Firefighter Buckley, and for now we have to go through procedure.”
“Right,” Buck said.
No one ever talked about the politics behind the LAFD. The hierarchy that was put in place so that the whole thing ran smoothly and all the divisions that made it all possible. Buck was but a speck in the whole grand scheme.
“Are you and Eddie Diaz in a relationship of a romantic nature?”
“No.”
“But you are very close. Close enough that you would take guardianship of Eddie’s son if the worst happened?”
“That’s true, but…”
She waved him off. “Is it also true that everyone considers you the boy’s second parent?”
“Not really. At least, I didn’t think they did.”
“Does Eddie?”
“Uh. No.”
“Is it true that when Firefighter Diaz was shot, you took care of his son?”
Buck nodded.
“Is it also true that you are on his son’s emergency calls list?”
“I guess so,” Buck said. “But, any one of us could have stepped in to take care of Chris. That time it happened to be me.”
“Moving on from that, is there a reason that the two of you carpool nearly every day into work?”
“To save on gas money and pollute less?” Buck said and it came out like a question. “And it’s not every day. It’s happened every once in a while.”
“According to your files, carpooling doesn’t make sense unless you’ve moved. Are you in the habit of sleeping at each other’s places?”
Her stare was piercing as if she was waiting for Buck to give up and tell her what she wanted to hear.
“Sometimes I crash at his house after babysitting his kid. Or when it’s too late and I’m too tired to drive to my apartment.”
She made a humming noise.
“Many saw the incident a few years ago with the well. Your reaction when Diaz cut the rope was well documented. It was all over the news. I just find it interesting that you are clearly so emotionally involved.”
Buck let out a breath. “He’s my best friend.”
“It’s not just on your end. His reaction when you were struck by lighting cannot be ignored. Not to mention everything that occurred during the tsunami. I am well aware of how closely firefighters work, the familial relationship that can develop through the shared experiences, but you two are different. So, the truth now, Firefighter Buckley, how long have you and Firefighter Diaz been dating?”
“We’re not,” Buck said. “Eddie is my best friend. He has a girlfriend and until about a month ago so did I. This is insane, you can ask anyone, we are not dating.” And out of some sort of desperation, he threw out: “In fact, you can ask Tommy Kinard.”
Gilbert looked thoughtfully at him. “That is your final answer,” she said with a hum. “I will be speaking to everyone in the firehouse as well as Firefighter Diaz. We will get the truth and there will be consequences if anyone is lying.”
“I’m not,” Buck said.
“Can you describe your relationship with Firefighter Buckley,” Assistant Chief Gilbert said.
“Well we work together and I consider him my closest friend,” Eddie said.
“Right. So, you spend a lot of time together outside of work.”
Chief Gilbert had that quality about her that explained exactly how she had made it to the position she had and perhaps even how she was involved in the Professional Standards Division. It was in the way her eyes narrowed, looking like a disappointed parent waiting for their kid to come clean.
“I mean, how much time do you spend with your best friend?” Eddie shot back. “Considering the amount of hours that we work, we do spend quite a bit of time together outside of work. I also see a lot of Hen and Chim. We’re all very close.”
She nodded. “Okay. So I’m here to get to the bottom of things and there are a few things I’d be glad to have cleared up.”
“Sure,” Eddie said.
“You changed your will, at least in regards to your son,” Gilbert said. “You named Firefighter Buckley as guardian to your son in the event that you couldn’t care for him.”
“That’s true,” Eddie said. “There is no one else I would trust with my son. I see nothing wrong with that.”
“There isn’t. I just find it curious when you have living parents and siblings.”
Eddie nodded. “You haven’t met them,” he said with a slight smile. “And my son has CP. It’s not a burden, but that does mean that he is not like other kids. My sisters have their own lives and kids. My parents are only getting older and Chris requires more than they could give him. Not to mention they are all in Texas away from his friends and his school and everything I’ve worked very hard to set up for him.”
Chief Gilbert actually smiled at that. “You believe Evan Buckley would be best for your son.”
“Absolutely,” Eddie said.
“Is that because the two of you are dating?”
Eddie chuckled. “We’re not,” he said. “For one thing, I have a girlfriend. For another, Buck is straight.”
She eyed him for a moment and Eddie couldn’t identify what he was seeing. It was as if she was holding back from saying something.
“I’ll even give you Marisol’s number. She’ll be happy to talk to you.”
Chief Gilbert nodded. “That would be helpful.”
Eddie looked through his phone and Chief Gilbert handed him a piece of paper. “I am curious why this is coming up now? Was there a complaint or something that made the division concerned?”
She took the paper when Eddie handed it back to her. “I’m not at liberty to say. What I can say is that some have observed your closeness and they are concerned.”
“Some,” Eddie said. “Did this happen at a call? Was this—”
“I really can’t say, Firefighter Diaz. I will ask once more, are you and Firefighter Buckley in a romantic relationship? Just know that there will be consequences if we find out you have been lying to us. This is the time to come clean.”
“We are not dating,” Eddie said.
She hummed in response. Eddie stood to go. It had been mostly painless, if perhaps insulting to have someone think that he was lying about something so major. That he and Buck could be dating under everyone’s noses and managing to keep it to themselves.
He had made it to the door, before he decided to turn back. “What happens now?”
“We will be investigating this further. If you and Buckley are just friends then nothing. We will be speaking to everyone at the station, as well as a few others.”
Eddie gave a nod and then he walked out.
Having dealt with internal affairs during her tenure as a temporary Captain, Hen couldn’t say that it hadn’t unnerved her when Bobby said someone wanted to speak to her.
“Is this about that guy again?” Hen asked.
“Nope,” Bobby said.
“This better not be about the going out to find the cruise ship thing.”
“Better if you just go and talk to the Assistant Chief.”
Hen narrowed her eyes. She had spent most of the beginning of her shift going through the stock of supplies on the ambulance and hadn’t even been aware that anyone from the Professional Standards Division was present in the firehouse. If she had, maybe she would have been more prepared. She wondered who they had already spoken to.
“Fine,” Hen said. “Have you spoken to them yet?”
Bobby shook his head. “Not yet.”
“So you don’t even know what this is about,” Hen said.
Exactly because she had known Bobby that long, Hen could tell that he was bothered by the whole thing too.
“She’s waiting in my office,” Bobby said.
Hen headed up. Assistant Chief Gilbert was someone Hen was actually very familiar with. When Hen first met her she’d been rising in the ranks, becoming the Captain of her own firehouse at a time when Hen was only just getting her feet at the 118. Athena had introduced them and impressed upon Hen how much the job wasn’t an all boys club.
“I admit, I didn’t expect you,” Hen said. “How are you, Amelia?”
“I’m well. And you?”
“Good. I guess I'm confused. What is this all about?”
Amelia motioned towards the chairs in front of Bobby’s desk and Hen took a seat, lifting an eyebrow in question.
“Well,” Amelia said, “we have reason to believe that Firefighter Buckley and Diaz are involved in a romantic relationship.”
Hen couldn’t help but burst out laughing. “Wait…wait, what? Buck and Eddie…no, that’s definitely not true.”
Amelia relaxed back into the chair. “This isn’t a joke, Hen, there really is a concern.”
“Well, there shouldn’t be. Buck is like one big giant puppy that’s finally found a friend willing to deal with all his excitement. Not to mention there is no way that boy is in any way queer. The amount of women he’s slept with. It’s gross. He broke up with his latest girlfriend a little over a month ago. I would know if he was into men…and I would definitely know if he and Eddie were a thing.”
Amelia made a humming noise that made Hen narrow her eyes in suspicion. Was there something that she was missing?
“Where is this coming from?”
“It’s coming from a place of concern. Look, workplace romances…they happen. They just cannot be allowed to interfere with the work. We’re firefighters and that means our work is life or death. I’m just here doing what I need to do in order to be sure everything is running without issue.”
Hen nodded. “I understand that. I do. I also know they’re not dating and that the two of them work better together than apart. I would know, I was their Captain for a time. There’s trust and there is a connection that is only forged by doing our type of work. It’s like me and Chim. They are just best friends.”
“Could you say that with 100% certainty?”
Instead of answering, Hen shot a question of her own. It wasn’t that she was doubting Eddie and Buck or even questioning if in some way they were managing to pull off such a lie, it was just that LAFD wouldn’t involve themselves in such an investigation without something to go off of.
“Why are you so certain they are dating?”
“I’m not,” Amelia said. “It’s all the little things adding up.”
“Such as?”
Hen wasn’t sure if Amelia would tell her anything, but then Amelia leaned forward on the desk.
“Okay, to start it seems like they are raising a child together more like two parents than a parent and a friend or uncle. There is all the time they spend together in and out of work. There’s the many incidents where one has been in danger and the other has acted rashly. They are each other’s emergency contact other than your Captain. Diaz has made Buckley his kid’s guardian in the event that he is incapable of caring for him.”
Hen sighed. “That doesn’t really add up to anything. It just shows they’re really close. Come on, Amelia, you’re not insinuating that they are deliberately lying to everyone about dating. Buck is a horrible secret keeper and so is Eddie.”
Amelia looked, if nothing else, a tad apologetic. “Having spoken to them, no, I don’t actually believe they are dating and lying about it. I do have to conduct all the interviews. But from one lesbian to another, maybe they should be?”
At that, Hen burst into laughter. She couldn’t stop laughing. The very idea that Buck and Eddie could be together like that seemed hilarious even though…well, they did do all the things that couples did. Whenever the 118 got together outside of work — usually at Bobby and Athena’s — no one was surprised when Hen arrived with Karen, Chim with Maddie, and then Buck with Eddie.
Then there was…well, Hen and Chim had joked about it at the time, but Eddie had been really bothered when Buck was with Taylor. Eddie hadn’t been too happy when Buck got together with Natalia. He had disapproved of Buck being a sperm donor. If Hen didn’t know better — which she did, thank you very much — then Eddie had been jealous. And as for Buck…wasn’t he possessive of Eddie at times?
She must have been silent for too long, because Amelia coughed.
“You see it too, don’t you?”
Hen shook her head. “I see what you mean…but I don’t think that they’re together or that they have feelings for each other. I mean, are either of them even into men?”
Amelia lifted her hands placatingly. “Maybe pay them some more attention. I’ll move on to my next interview. Give my best to Karen.”
“Will do. We’ll do dinner or something soon.”
Amelia nodded with a smile. “I’m never wrong, Hen,” she added as Hen made it to the door.
Chim was on the phone with Maddie when Bobby motioned for him to go with him. He got off the phone with a quick goodbye and put his attention on Bobby.
“What’s up, Bobby?”
“Your turn,” Bobby said.
Chim had seen Assistant Chief Gilbert arrive, but he’d kept his curiosity to himself while Bobby talked to her and then watched as Buck headed into the office. He’d come out with a frown, a bemused look on his face. It had been especially telling that something happened because Buck didn’t go find Eddie and instead he walked elsewhere. Then, he saw Bobby send Eddie in. He came out shaking his head. Hen went in, took the longest, and then came out smiling.
“What’s this all about, Bobby?”
“Just go in there, Chim.”
Assistant Chief Gilbert was looking at a tablet when he walked in. Chim took a seat and waited for her to be done.
“Firefighter Han, I hear congratulations are in order. You’re getting married soon.”
Chim grinned. “Thank you. We’re deep in the planning stages.”
Chief Gilbert nodded. “I know that you’re marrying Maddie Buckley. You work with her brother, Firefighter Buckley.”
“That’s correct.”
“So out of anyone in this firehouse, you should have the most contact with Firefighter Buckley. He is your fiance’s brother and uncle to your daughter. So, you would know if he were dating someone.”
Chim was becoming more and more confused. This was not going in any direction that he could have predicted.
“Sure, but Buck wears his heart on his sleeve and isn’t shy with sharing sometimes more than any of us want to know. And no, he’s not dating anyone. His last girlfriend lasted a few months. Before that was Taylor Kelly…the guy doesn’t have the best taste. And I can’t prove it, but I’m pretty sure he hooked up with Tommy.”
Chief Gilbert raised an eyebrow. “So, he and Firefighter Diaz aren’t in a romantic relationship?”
Chim knew suddenly exactly why Hen had been so amused when she was leaving the office. He barely held back a laugh. “Oh…now this is something I won’t be dropping any time soon. You seriously believe Buck and Eddie are dating. That’s…yeah, no, that’s not possible.”
Chief Gilbert sighed. “So I’ve been told.”
“They’re very close,” Chim said. “There is no denying that, but they aren’t involved. They’re just the type of friends that no one really has past childhood. You know, the best friend that you need in order to do anything…attached at the hip. That’s them. They are never going to live this down, though.”
“Your fiance would say the same?” Gilbert asked
Chim nodded. “Just think of them this way, they could both get married to other people and somehow they will still spend more time with each other than with their wives. That’s just Buck and Eddie.”
Gilbert shook her head. “If my wife spent more time with someone else I’d be concerned, wouldn’t you.”
“Well, yeah,” Chim said. “I see your point.”
“I do want one more thing answered.”
“Sure,” Chim said.
“What do you think about how close they are? I mean to say, has it ever affected their work?”
“They’re close. We’re all close. And no, it has never affected the way we do our jobs. I dare you to find any firehouse where the firefighters don’t consider themselves family. Buck and Eddie work well together, they barely have to speak to know what the other is thinking…no one is safer than when the two of them are performing a rescue.”
“That’s all I needed to hear, Firefighter Han. I will be in touch with your wife.”
“I won’t even tell her you’re coming,” Chim said.
Chief Gilbert rolled her eyes. “One last thing, could you see a romantic relationship forming between them at any time.”
“I — well, I don’t know. I mean, if the Tommy thing happened then Buck isn’t as straight as I thought—”
“This is Firefighter Tommy Kinard?”
Chim nodded. “But I don’t know for sure that anything happened. It was just a vibe.”
Ravi gave Amelia a curious and rambling answer when asked about Buck and Eddie: “Well, when I was new they were all kind of a legend and I did think they were maybe together and no one talked about it. I mean, you’ve seen Buck, right? He’s a bisexual disaster. But then there was the blackout and I met Ana. I thought she was Eddie’s wife and Chris’ mom. I was wrong…but that kind of ended right after the blackout. And when Eddie was working at dispatch, Buck was kinda difficult to work with. They’re super co-dependent and I think Eddie really had something against Taylor. To be honest, I’m pretty sure they hate each other’s girlfriends. Of course, the whole Natalia thing was weird because she’s a freaking death doula. Like what is the point of that, right? And I don’t think Eddie and Marisol are gonna last much longer either. She stopped by the other day and there was just some kind of tension. Does that answer the question?”
Amelia didn’t know what to say to all the information given to her, so she just nodded. “So they aren’t dating now?”
“No. No. They would make a good couple though…right? Buck’s practically already Chris’ dad. He even signs his permission slips sometimes when Eddie forgets. And I know Chris’ school called him instead of Eddie once when Chris was sick.”
After Ravi came other interviews. She spoke to almost every firefighter at the 118 from both shifts. Answers ranged. Some were staunchly against the idea that Buck and Eddie could be anything other than platonic, some shared their own insights to how Buck and Eddie were perceived. A couple were even sure that of course they were dating and had been for a while. Someone even brought up what had been dubbed as “the divorce” when Buck had filed a lawsuit against LAFD and Eddie was angry and sullen for days specifically about not being able to speak to Buck because of it.
In some ways, it made her day far more amusing than most, and yet there was probably a pile growing back at her desk that she could have been taking care of.
When Assistant Chief Gilbert arrived, Bobby had been surprised. He was even more surprised when she gave him very little explanation other than informing him they were investigating something and that he needed to see each of his firefighters starting with Buck. He watched as each of them walked in to see her. Some interviews went on for a while and others ended quickly.
By the time that Bobby was called into the office, she had spoken to everyone and they were several hours into their shift. He wasn’t surprised at the lack of calls, assuming that dispatch had been told to not send any their way unless really necessary. It had to be serious.
“Captain Nash,” Gilbert said.
“You can call me Bobby,” he said.
“Bobby, then,” she said. “I did not expect to meet you under these circumstances, but here we are.”
“Here we are,” Bobby said. “And why are we here?”
He could tell that she was tired. She had hardly left his office since she arrived, he figured she probably had to be hungry or thirsty.
“I held off on talking to you, Captain, because I wanted to get to Firefighter Buckley and Diaz first. There has been an allegation that they are involved in a romantic relationship. And upon our initial investigation it did seem like that was a possibility. They have denied it. So has mostly everyone we’ve spoken to. As far as I’m concerned, I believe they are telling the truth. What do you think?”
“I think I want to know where that allegation comes from,” Bobby said. “They aren’t dating. I know my people, Chief Gilbert, and if they did ever become involved, they would have told me. Not just because I don’t think either of them could keep it secret, but because they know the importance of the job.”
Gilbert sighed. “We had to look into it. If you recall, a month or so back there was a different investigation involving Firefighter Wilson — Captain Wilson at the time.”
“I’m aware,” Bobby said.
It had been one of the many things he and Athena had gotten back to after the failure that had been their honeymoon cruise. He thought that Hen had handled everything perfectly. Most especially in regards to the rescue she had enacted that saved him, Athena, and several others right on the heels of that.
“Someone had a concern after that night. As far as I know they were interviewed together and they were observed to be a little too close. They started to investigate and then there was a complaint that came through. There is one other thing, Taylor Kelly’s book. I’ve emailed you the file.”
Bobby tried to hold in the sigh. “That book is drivel,” he said.
“Perhaps,” Gilbert allowed. “That doesn’t change that she had a particular insight into this firehouse due to her relationship with Firefighter Buckley.”
“Can’t deny that,” Bobby said. “And that very relationship should tell you he and Eddie are not together.”
Gilbert looked more amused than anything. “At this point, I think you are all hiding their relationship fairly well or that they are just that oblivious.”
Bobby blinked at her. “What does that—”
“Nevermind,” Gilbert said. “I think I have everything I need. I also expect that once they do figure out they’re head over heels you will have the right forms filled out and filed. Retaining professionalism while at work will keep them both at the 118. If there is one thing I’ve taken away it’s that they really do make a great team.”
After her interview, Maddie was still wiping tears of laughter. She was also rethinking a few interactions. Her brother had never said it, but that didn’t change how she had caught him watching other guys back when he was a teenager. Not that he had ever pursued a relationship with a guy. Maddie had her suspicions about the influence their parents had had on Buck. She also had her suspicions about Buck and that guy that helped rescue Bobby and Athena.
And then there was how flustered he’d gotten that time shortly after Maddie had arrived in LA when Eddie’s name came up. She had to remember that Buck and Eddie had only just met then. There was no one that could deny Eddie was hot. Her brother certainly couldn’t have ignored it.
Chim had told her at one point about how Buck had reacted to Eddie at first and suddenly she was starting to wonder.
It had been years since then, but sometimes infatuation didn’t fade. Buck and Eddie were really close. They were both too dumb to try and hide a relationship…but maybe they were both dumb enough to hide what they felt about each other from each other — and everyone else.
Seeing as her interview took place at dispatch, Maddie had wound up telling Josh all about it.
“That is wild,” Josh said. “I always did suspect your brother could be attracted to men. You know, I thought you were trying to set us up that one time, but then I kinda figured I had no chance because he was so into Eddie.”
“Really,” Maddie said.
“Yes. And it’s not like he doesn’t have a chance.”
Maddie needed to talk to Chim. Maybe even Hen. They had to compare stories.
Athena heard about it from Hen when she and Karen were over.
“I think Amelia has a point,” Karen said. “Eddie has always given me a bit of a not-straight vibe.”
“Really?” Hen asked. “I don’t think so.”
“Oh, come on,” Karen said and she looked between them. “Then again, you were married to a gay man and had kids with him and you have always had horrible gaydar. Remember how shocked you were the first time we ran into that guy that used to work at the 118. What was his name—”
“Tommy,” Hen said, thoughtfully.
“Kinard?” Athena asked. “But he’s not—”
“He was making out with a guy,” Hen said. “Yeah, I was surprised too.”
“Huh,” Athena said with a laugh. “Fair enough. But that doesn’t change that Buck and Eddie are not a couple.”
“Currently,” Karen said. “But if I were an outside party looking in, it wouldn’t be a hard stretch.”
It was a hard thing to wrap her head around, and yet she knew that Karen had a point. It was just that sometimes she did still think about Buck like the dumb kid that didn’t know to keep his mouth shut. The one that slept with anything that walked and that grew into someone she could respect. Then again, maybe it did make sense. Athena did have her experience with Michael to go off of. Maybe Eddie was the same. Maybe he had decided to push that part of himself down in order to prioritize being a father.
Over the years she had gotten to know a lot about the firefighters from the 118 and she admired Eddie for his efforts as a single father. Her own experience as a mother had made her conscious of how much Eddie put on himself and so she knew with perfect clarity how much Buck shouldered for Eddie. It wasn’t surprising that someone looking in could see them as a family unit. Maybe they were.
“What I want to know,” Athena said, “is why this is in question now.”
“Amelia didn’t say,” Hen said. “I think someone else in the division raised the question the last time they were at the station.”
Athena nodded. She didn’t like the sound of that. It was one thing if something had happened out on a call. She wouldn’t have been concerned if the whole thing came up after Buck did something seriously risky just because he could and it was tied somehow to Eddie’s well being. That was practically normal for them. This was seemingly out of nowhere and if it originated with internal affairs then someone up high had some biases they had to check.
“Maybe Bobby knows more,” Hen said looking just past Athena where her husband was surely standing.
“Knows more about what?”
“About the whole thing with internal affairs,” Athena supplied.
Bobby’s smile was amused. “Well, she doesn’t think they’re actually together. Someone from internal affairs did have some suspicion. They were interviewed together and they raised some flags. She also mentioned Taylor Kelly’s book.”
Hen snorted out a laugh. “Taylor’s book. Wouldn’t that prove that Buck has awful taste in women.”
“She sent me the file,” Bobby said. “I guess she wanted me to know where it was all coming from.”
“And?” Karen said, leaning forward.
Bobby smiled. Athena was almost sure that he was going to deny them the info due to some sort of confidentiality thing.
“There was a complaint. It came from someone at a call. A week or so back. I don’t know what call it came from but they observed Buck and Eddie being a bit too close and decided it was unprofessional. Looking at what they wrote, it wasn’t the closeness they were complaining about as much as the idea that it was two men.”
Athena felt a jolt of anger go through her. Of all the things…that was not what she expected. She could tell that Bobby felt the same way. Hen and Karen had their own restrained anger. In their line of work they encountered so many people, it was hard to avoid the bigots. Having to rise up and be the bigger person against someone racist, homophobic, and so many other things.
“And they took that seriously,” Hen said. “Seriously enough to investigate?”
Bobby nodded. “Well, I don’t know what they saw or heard the night they questioned everyone the last time they were at the firehouse. Chief Gilbert just says even in her file that someone raised some concern.”
“And Taylor’s book,” Karen said. “What about that?”
“There are some listed chapters and pages. I don’t know.”
“Maybe it’s time one of us read it,” Hen said.
“So, it’s all over?” Buck asked.
He and Eddie were seated across from Bobby. They hadn’t even made it out of their street clothes before Bobby was pulling them into the office. Buck hadn’t known what to expect, but it had been a few days since the initial investigation began and he was ready to hear how it ended.
“Basically, yes,” Bobby said. “They’ve concluded that they were wrong and that you are not romantically involved.”
“Good,” Eddie said. “Because we are not.”
Buck gave his own nod.
“Is that all?”
“No,” Bobby said. “I wanted you to know the reason why they made that assumption.”
“What is it?” Eddie asked.
Buck leaned closer, paying close attention to Bobby.
“Someone made a complaint after a call we responded to. The complaint had nothing to do with our response or the level of care. It was about your closeness to each other. It mentioned perceived inappropriate touching and flirting and they overheard you talking about Chris. Whatever the conversation was, it led them to believe you were a couple. This person then took it upon themselves to complain. It was uncalled for, biased, and it wouldn’t have happened if you were a man and woman.”
“Wow,” Eddie said. “That’s insane.”
Buck just shook his head. “A homophobe strikes again.”
“There’s more,” Bobby said.
“What else could there be?” Eddie asked.
When Buck looked at his direction, he could see Eddie fidgeting with his hands. It had been strange, the last few days. The thing was that Buck was still a bit shaken about the whole thing. Not that it happened or that he and Eddie were questioned. After all, if one wasn’t guilty, one had nothing to fear. It was that it had brought a few things forward in his mind. Things that Buck used to explain away…that he had literally just shoved down and ignored. Things like how ridiculously attractive he found Eddie. And how maybe his desire to belong somewhere that had made him jump at the chance to be so involved with Christopher and Eddie wasn’t just because he wanted to belong anywhere, but because his family was Chris and Eddie.
Buck found Bobby looking at him.
“What is it?”
“Have you read Taylor’s book?”
Buck shook his head. “She sent me a copy. Even signed it. It’s probably still sitting on my bookshelf gathering dust. Why?”
“Internal affairs used it as evidence,” Bobby said.
Buck couldn’t help but laugh. Eddie next to him was silent. Even though he had never said it, Buck knew that Eddie had been happy after Buck and Taylor were over. The whole thing had been some attempt at having someone and she was someone that knew him and accepted him. It was just that Buck had forgotten how she could be and focused instead on the vulnerabilities she had shown.
“No wonder this went nowhere,” Buck said. “I guess I’m glad it’s all over.”
“Me too,” Eddie said.
“I think we all are,” Bobby said. “Go get changed before a call comes through.”
Buck followed Eddie out. They hadn’t talked about it. The day of the interview, Buck had been left overthinking everything and then after Assistant Chief Gilbert left, they’d had several calls to keep them busy. By the time their shift was over, Hen and Chim had been teasing them about the whole thing and it had just been easier to laugh about it. So, they just didn’t talk about it.
Instead, they went home and the next night when Buck went over to Eddie’s, Christopher was around and there was no point in bringing it up.
“It’s a little funny,” Buck said as they made their way down to the locker room. “Them using Taylor’s book.”
Eddie turned back to look at Buck. “You really haven’t read it?”
“Nope. I’m curious now, like what could she have put in there about us.”
“I don’t know if I want to know,” Eddie said. “Can you believe how seriously they took that complaint, though? It’s insulting. It wasn’t about the job…it was just some bystander observing us and making a judgment based on their own biases.”
“It’s crazy,” Buck said.
They had changed around each other so often that it was normal for Buck to just strip off his shirt in front of Eddie. He caught Eddie’s eyes as he reached for the door to his locker and saw the moment that Eddie’s eyes went lower, looking at his bare chest. Buck didn’t move, frozen as Eddie seemed to check him out. When his gaze went back up to Buck’s face, his eyes widened as he realized what he’d been caught doing. That was followed by his face going just lightly red.
“I—” Eddie began and coughed.
Buck finished dressing, letting Eddie have his dignity while in his mind he tried to figure out what he could say.
No sooner had they both finished getting into their uniforms before the call came and they were rushing to the truck. It would have to wait.
They were called to a car accident. Minor injuries, but one of the drivers was trapped in her car and he and Eddie worked together to get the door off and help her get out. Considering the last few days, they kept some distance and spoke only about their task.
By the time they got back to the firehouse, Bobby needed Buck’s help with preparing lunch and Buck thought that Eddie looked a little relieved. He felt a little of that too, even while deeply aware of the tension between them.
“What’s going on, Buck?” Bobby asked.
Buck took a breath. He had known all the way back when he was a teenager that saying anything about how interesting he was suddenly finding the boys in his class alongside the girls wouldn’t go over well with his parents. And since girls were just as appealing, Buck had leaned into that far more. It was only after he’d left home that Buck had given himself the permission to explore. It had always been lowkey — hook ups and one-night stands. Never anything serious. Not even his last hook up with a guy. With Tommy Kinard.
“Bobby, I’m bi,” Buck said.
Bobby set down the knife he was holding, turning entirely to look at Buck. “Thank you for telling me.”
Buck let out a breath. “I’ve never really told anyone before.”
“Why not?”
Buck shrugged his shoulders.
“Well, I’m glad you’re telling me now. Can I ask what brought this along?”
Buck didn’t answer for a while. He looked around at everything that Bobby had set out but couldn’t actually connect it all to anything in particular.
“I guess it’s about Eddie,” Buck said.
Bobby hid his reaction well, but Buck knew that he was likely shocked. “Is this because of the investigation?”
“Yeah. I just…I guess when you’re in the middle of it you don’t really notice. He’s the person I look to, you know, like I rely on him. And I know he does the same for me. There’s Christopher. There’s all the things we do together, we’ve been pretty much going on dates every single week for the last who knows how long. I’m at his house more than my own. What if…what if we are in a relationship and it’s not that we’ve been lying to everyone or keeping it hidden, but that we’ve been lying to ourselves too.”
Bobby grasped him by the shoulders. “I think you need to talk to Eddie. Do you have feelings for him?”
Buck let out a huff. “Yeah. I do.”
“Then you know what you want. And the one thing I didn’t tell you earlier is that Chief Gilbert will fully support you if you do start to date. She won’t make either of you leave the firehouse.”
Buck hadn’t even been worried about that, but he was glad that he didn’t need to be concerned. It wouldn’t have stopped him, he realized, if one of them did have to transfer to another firehouse.
“Now, come on we have to get this food ready.”
“Thanks, Bobby.”
He was spotting for Chim and trying his hardest to forget about that moment in the locker room when his eyes had lingered for too long on Buck. It was just that usually Eddie tried not to look, he tried not to show his appreciation for his best friend’s body. He would have to be blind to not know how gorgeous Buck was…made even more so by his personality. Buck was unattainable, though.
“You’re distracted,” Chim said.
“I guess,” Eddie said. “I’m just in my head about the whole thing with Chief Gilbert.”
Chim grinned. “I still think it’s hilarious. Of all the things they would want to investigate, that’s what they go for. Did you guys ever find out why.”
“Some homophobe made a complaint. And someone that came here the night they were looking into Hen thought we were a little too close. And something to do with Taylor’s book.”
“Wow,” Chim said.
“Yup,” Eddie said.
“It’s crazy, but you know, you and Buck are really close. It wouldn’t be the worst thing…”
It would be the best thing. If he allowed himself to, Eddie could picture it. Buck already fit so perfectly in his life — in Christopher’s life. And how much would change between them? The physical aspect…the fact that Eddie could hold Buck, could kiss Buck, could take Buck into his bedroom and explore every inch of his skin?
“He’s not into men,” Eddie said.
Chim turned fully around to face him. “Are you into men?”
Eddie knew he was blushing again. “I’m…I mean I’ve never but yes. Yes.”
Chim grinned widely at him. “I think shoot your shot, Diaz.”
“I just might,” Eddie said.
The next time he saw Buck, it was at lunch. They sat next to each other as usual and Buck didn’t shy away from Eddie. Instead, it seemed like he was sitting even closer than was normal for them.
They went on a few calls after lunch. A little boy stuck in a tree, a hit and run, and a grease fire at a restaurant. One of their less hectic days. By the time they were changing back out of the uniform, Eddie felt nervous. He grabbed Buck’s arm as they were stepping out, realizing that even if this wasn’t pressing he still probably would have wanted to spend time with Buck after work.
Buck turned to look at him with a smile.
“Do you think…can I come over?”
“Sure,” Buck said. His eyes were glinting. It made Eddie want to lose himself in looking into them. “Want me to drive?”
Eddie nodded. He was distracted the whole way there, keeping his eyes away from Buck and wondering just how badly he was about to wreck his friendship with Buck. He followed Buck up to his apartment in the same way. Eddie had always liked Buck’s apartment. It was just simple and very very Buck. He felt his nerves ease as they walked in.
“Beer?” Buck asked.
“Sure.”
Buck took as long as he could getting them beer out of the fridge. He found Eddie had wandered out to the balcony and it felt as good place as any. Devoid of distractions in some ways. When he stepped out, Eddie turned to look at him and Buck smiled as he handed him one of the bottles. Buck set his own down by the foot of his chair. Eddie took a gulp and Buck watched his throat, the way that his adam’s apple moved.
“This has been an interesting week,” Buck said.
“I’d say,” Eddie said. “Made me think, though.”
Buck’s eyes didn’t waver from Eddie. He could see something like hesitation, and something like hopefulness.
“Me too,” Buck said. “I didn’t think about it, you know, we’re just kinda like that.”
“Right,” Eddie said. “And what if…what if—”
Buck reached over, grabbing Eddie’s hand. They touched all the time, a hand on a shoulder, a pat on the back, even a hug on occasion. Touching his hand felt different, charged.
“What if they’re kinda right,” Buck said.
Eddie let out a breath. “Yeah.” He turned his hand, palm up and Buck’s fingers intertwined with his. “Buck, next to Christopher, you are the most important person in my life.”
“Oh,” Buck said.
Maybe it wasn’t insane to think it could work, that they could take their friendship to a whole other level where all the things they did together and for each other actually meant everything. It wasn’t hard to imagine.
“I’m…I care about you, Eddie,” Buck said. “I think this could work. Us.”
Eddie was the one to lean over, hovering so close to Buck and waiting for Buck to react one way or another. Buck was the one to push forward and draw Eddie into a kiss. It felt right. Buck by his own admittance had kissed a lot of people. More women than men, and there was a difference, but kissing Eddie was just more.
Despite having been the one to start the kiss, it was Eddie that led it. He sped it up, or slowed it down. He was the one to lick the seam of Buck’s lips and to lick in and Buck lost all thought. He could taste the beer Eddie had drunk and he lost his mind because it was hard to process that it was actually happening.
Eddie pulled away, but he was slow to do so, staying so close that their breaths mingled and that their noses brushed when Buck moved back. He knew that he was smiling wide and that it wasn’t a smile that was going to go away any time soon. Their hands were still entwined and Buck felt grounded by it, knew everything was real because he could feel Eddie. He pulled Eddie out of his chair by pulling at their joint hands and Eddie followed inside wordlessly.
They didn’t make it too far before Eddie stopped and pulled Buck to him, wrapping him up in a hug that led to kisses down Buck’s jaw and then their lips meeting again. He could get lost to the feeling of Eddie pressed against him…to the experience as a whole. Eddie’s smell, his taste, the way that they fit together.
“What are we going to do now?” Eddie asked.
Buck, from the driver’s seat glanced over. They were just five minutes away from the firehouse.
“I mean, with work. Are we going to have to actually hide this?”
Buck laughed. “Now that would really get us fired.”
“I’m serious,” Eddie said.
“We’ll have to fill out some forms,” Buck said. “It’s not a big deal. The big deal is we finally figured this out.”
“Yeah,” Eddie breathed.
Assistant Chief Gilbert was not surprised when she saw the email with the newly signed workplace romance paperwork sent from Captain Nash. It was quicker than even she’d expected.

12. With Lee!Mikey ?😺
Priorities
Summary: It's time for training, but Mikey's in the middle of something important. Raph needs to help his little brother sort out his priorities.
Author's note: Thank you for the prompt, anon! This was so fun! I realized I almost never write for Raph, so I needed to remedy that ASAP. Enjoy!
Warnings: Just tickling, but if that's not your jam, please keep scrolling.
Word count: 1,069
12. "Come on, let me see that smile!"
"NOOO!"
"Mikey, I—"
"WHY, CRUEL WORLD—"
"Mikey, it's just a game!" Raph roared, rubbing his temples as a distraught Mikey caressed the screen that blinked the dreaded red words: YOU LOSE.
The video game car that Mikey had been operating did a surprising number of side rolls and ping-ponged off of several obstacles. Honestly, it was impressive that he made it as far as he had. Though this last game didn't go well, Mikey maintained an overall spot in second place—a feat Raph couldn't imagine achieving in this game.
The arcade blinked with multicolored lights, illuminating the youngest brother's distressed expression. Mikey gripped the steering wheel, resting his forehead against the plastic with a disheartened sigh. "I can't let Leo have the high score, Raph. It was mine, I worked so hard for it!"
Raph patted Mikey's shoulder with a soft, understanding look. "You'll get it back, little bro..." his voice shifted back to the gruff, firm tone he usually spoke in, "But not now. Time for training."
"I can't give up now! I'm this close!" Mikey mimed holding a popcorn kernel between his fingers, indicating the severity of the situation. "I'm in the zone, and you can't pause 'the zone' for anything!"
Raph forced a pleasant smile while speaking through gritted teeth. "But I told you we needed to go two games ago. Leo and Donnie are already waitin', and you know what happens when we leave them alone for too long."
Mikey's hands tightened on the wheel. "One more game!"
"No!" Raph grabbed Mikey around the middle to pull him away from the flashing screen, despite the younger brother's whining. His frustration was clearly building now, but Mikey was persistent nonetheless. That was the thing with Mikey: he was usually so laid back, so flexible, always willing to go with the flow; until he wasn't. And when he wasn't?
Well, those were the days that always confused and surprised Raph. He never understood Mikey's priorities and, despite how much stronger he was than Mikey, he had to actually try to pull Mikey away from the video game. Mikey held fast to the steering wheel, the chair, any fixed object he could find. He understood the importance of training, he really did, but why waste nineteen warmup games? Especially when he knew the next game would be the one.
"I don't want to!" Mikey said with all of the fire of a child about to see the dentist.
"We have—" he struggled to get a grip on Mikey's shell, "to go—" a small giggle escaped the youngest's mouth before Raph could finish his thought. His hands were clamped on the sides of Mikey's shell, and Mikey's mouth was clamped shut in the way it always was whenever anyone would...
The idea hit Raph suddenly, and he couldn't believe he hadn't come up with it sooner. "Mikey, I'm gonna give you one more chance to do the right thing, or else," Raph said, tapping his fingers impatiently against Mikey's sides. In the low, warm light of the arcade, he watched Mikey mentally rifle through his options while trying to keep his composure.
Neither option Raph presented involved Mikey getting what he wanted. Mikey knew Raph was just trying to do his best as their leader, but he was determined to reclaim his spot as the champ. Raph wouldn't be upset for too long, especially not with the youngest.
"Mikey?" Raph prompted, squeezing Mikey's sides a little more, earning a short snicker.
"You forgot about the secret third option," Mikey said with a wobbly grin, "where I beat Leo's high score!"
Raph chuckled at his stubborn brother, wrapping one arm around Mikey's shell to free his other hand. "Then you don't leave me any other choice." Using his free hand, Raph scribbled his fingers over Mikey's plastron and sides.
Mikey dissolved into squeaky giggles instantly, trying to fight the overwhelming urge to let go of the chair and protect himself. "Rahahahaph! Nohoho fahahair!"
"No fair? No fair?" Raph laughed and dug his fingers into Mikey's exposed armpit. The younger brother's undignified screams of laughter filled the lair. "Raph thinks you're the one who's not bein' fair!"
Mikey finally let go of the red chair, grabbing Raph's hand for lack of any better solution. "Ahahaham nohot!"
"Come on, let me see that smile!" Raph put Mikey on the ground, now using both hands to tickle him senseless.
Contrary to what people may think, Raph's strong, calloused hands could provide the most gentle, unbearable tickling sensation one could imagine. As the oldest of four brothers, he had perfected the art early in life. He knew exactly where to strike to bring his brothers down and, more importantly, how to tell when to stop.
For Mikey, this meant tickling any spot Raph could reach, switching places any time Mikey squirmed away from one sensation, leaving no spot un-tickled. Being quick and gentle was the best way to throw the youngest turtle into hysterics before going in for the kill.
"D'ya think it might be time for training, Mikey?" Raph asked with a mischievous smile.
Between the fingers now lightly wiggling against his neck, and the hand firmly squeezing his knee, Mikey was quickly losing the ability to think straight. He could only wrap his arms around his middle (a spot Raph was no longer going for) and do his best to squirm away from the tickly sensations.
"Mikey? You know Leo and Donnie ain't gonna wait forever," Raph said, slowing his hands enough to let Mikey's brain get the oxygen it needed to function.
"F-Fihihine!" was all the youngest could muster between his bouts of shrill cackles.
Raph released Mikey and stood up, watching the youngest inhale all the oxygen in the room. Sometimes he worried about pushing his littlest brother too far but seeing the award-winning smile on Mikey's face eased those concerns.
"If we train now, I promise we can work on beating the high score tonight. Deal?" He offered a hand, which Mikey wasted no time accepting.
"Deal! Leo won't even see it coming!"
"Um, see what coming?" came the hesitant voice of the group's face-man.
Raph gave Mikey a sly smile and a wink, ushering him out of the arcade. Sometimes it was difficult being the leader of the three most stubborn brothers in the world.
But how could he possibly want anything different?

any advice for someone having their first crush? thanks to being demiromantic I kinda missed out on the whole romance thing in highschool so now I'm 18, clueless, and too afraid to ask anyone irl
If you have any trusted friends irl, you can definitely ask them! If you're scared of a bad reaction you can always include a joke-y line about the guys in your school all being too ugly for crushes.
Also, my advice:
The #1 thing is to not put the person you're crushing on on a pedestal. They are cool and great, sure, but they aren't your only chance at love, and they are human and will make mistakes. I really see this in guys in particular, where they become completely obsessed about this one girl.
The next thing to do is to determine if you want to act on it. Some people have shallow, fleeting crushes while some people have these deep infatuations. It might be painful for you to not at least try to date. If you're like that, ask them out as soon as possible. When the two of you are alone, just do the whole "Hey, I really like you, would you like to get a coffee together sometime?" (Don't know how to word it in English without it sounding awkward sorry.)
You're 18 and just starting uni/finishing high school so I honestly wouldn't worry about compatibility /that much/ because people's life plans change So Much in uni. You're presumably friends already if you're demi, so you should be compatible on at least some level.
If you don't do anything, your crush might go out with someone else. That's something you just have to accept. This is why I recommend either going for it asap or just stepping back and trying to ignore the crush.

When does Calantha take Mina to meet her parents and sister? 🥹 Did they meet Hien prior to that too? I need to know what happened!
omg meg I'm sorry it took me eons to get to this, I was going to make a gpose about it and got tired halfway through so that will have to wait. but I still want to answer this before I forget!! Under the cut bc it got a bit long.
Cala's family meeting Hien -
They've all met him by now! For her sister, it was an accident - Amelie just happened to be in Ala Mhigo at the same time Cala and Hien were, in 5.5 - they were finishing up talking outside with some other Alliance leaders, and Amelie walked by and did a double take when she saw Cala 😆 So it was a quick awkward meeting. But Cala did catch her up on things a few days after. They didn't spend much time together with Hien until after ENW though. Cala was a little busy with the world ending. But Amelie likes him, even based on the short amount of time she spent with him before that. She jokes with Cala that she can understand him because she's also the short one in her relationship.
Her parents didn't meet Hien until after ENW. Cala had spent a few months in Doma, still physically and mentally wrung out, not traveling much farther than Kugane most of the time. She was getting antsy but didn't want to overexert herself, so she contacted her parents to let them know she wanted to visit - only to have them reply that they had both decided to compile their savings and take their first vacation in decades, and that they were on their way to Kugane since they'd heard so much about it 😆
Cala didn't want bother Hien to spend too much time away from work but he was happy for any excuse to get away for a few days, so they met there! It was very cute. Her parents had heard a bit about him from Cala, just enough to let them know she was with him, and that it seemed like a serious relationship. Whatever she hadn't told them, they'd heard from Amelie, so. They were very excited when they saw him. He tried to start off with a respectful bow/handshake and they both hugged him instead which he was not expecting 🥺
Overall her family is very happy for her, and Hien likes all of them too!
Meeting Mina -
Well Mina doesn't exist yet, but Cala will absolutely want her to meet the family when she does. I will simply have to see how DT goes to determine how soon that happens.
It will most likely be more that her mother insists on seeing the grandbaby ASAP than that Cala wants to bring her brand new child on a long boat trip to Eorzea. I think her mom will come to her first.
Once Mina is a few years older Cala will be happy to bring her places. And Cala will task at least one of her retainers to guard Mina if she has to step away for any reason 😂 I think Yugiri would also volunteer to come on any longer trips for Hien's peace of mind.
(Both Amelie and Cala's mom are absolutely spoiling Mina ksdjhfda)

hi guys! mizu here with a little life/writing update for this blog😗💜
so if you guys didn't know, i'm in my final year of university and right now i'm finishing up my research paper that's actually going to determine whether i can graduate this year (if you've ever seen me vent or complain about tutors or assignments, it's definitely for this one🥹). that being said, i think my schedule is going to get a little hectic for the next 1-2 weeks, maybe even 3, depending on how it goes, but i hope i can finish it up asap!
however, that also means i'll be less active here and will be having less time to write for this blog :(( for a while, i think i'll be focusing mainly on writing for my suna mini-series only, as i have the chapters planned out and some of it written already. i'll still be logging on here to read, reblog and interact though, just a little less frequently.
i also have still a few requests left for my 111 milestone event in my inbox but unfortunately i don't think i will be continuing those :( i just haven't found the motivation or inspiration to write them and i'm not sure if or when i will, and i'd rather not leave you guys hanging for months. i'm so sorry for this, though i hope you guys can still enjoy my other works or participate in any future events when i can learn how to manage them better!
i hope this wasn't a boring read, thank you all for the love on this blog!! tbh i never expected all the love when i decided to post my writings here, and not to mention all the wonderful friends i've made in the little time since i started this blog. can't wait to get back on here fully, i have so many fics and things planned😉
love you all, and i hope you're having a nice day!💜

[The corruption arc.]
Chapter Sixteen: The damages of a Warlord.
Emerald grunted... His injuries grew worse and worse as they headed from one area to another... He thought that... He wasn't gonna make it. He didn't have his axe with him... And neither does hope.
Royal Purple carried him to her castle.. By then, it was already vandalised and obliterated by Black 6c...as a warning that one action from all of them would bring the end to all stick figure kinds... And he'll make sure they would listen and regret it all..
"Shit... All my medical supplies were in there!! Now what?!"
"The nearest hospital is at the city.. But.. We can't go back there.. It would already be gone by the time we made it.."
The four stopped when they heard a familiar scream of utter rage.. It was Black 6c.. And he had heard the news about his army...
"HA... GUESS US STICK FIGURES ARE WINNING THIS WAR AFTER ALL!!"
"Keep your fucking voice down.. You might lure him to us!"
"Oh, right... You good there Emerald?"
Emerald was silent the whole way.. They trek through forests until he made another grunt.. His blood were leaking out of a homemade bandage that Royal purple wrapped around.. He tilted his head to see four living silhouettes in the distance. They stopped dead in their tracks.
"Bubblegum.."
"Wha- No way I'm gonna go and see who those four are! They could be strangers.. Or shapeshifter!!"
Heatwave came over. Grabbing her and yeeting her to the four figures. She collided to one of them, hitting her head as the figure suffered with a migraine. He rubbed his head aggressively.
"WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK.. ARE YOU GUYS INSANE?!"
Emerald remembers that voice.. He made a smile.. Finally... He was saved.
"Golden rod, Is that you?"
"Your highness.. What on earth are you doing here?"
"Long story short Admiral, but no time to chatting. We gotta save Emerald!! ASAP!"
The four gasp to see his wounds exposing. Admiral took the lead, taking the four to a nearby camp by the demolished cottage.. Admiral begin his work on the Warlord.
Meanwhile Cloud couldn't wait any longer to introduce himself to the four.
At first.. They were all concerned and confused on how a child would be okay with all of this happening... Yet they all settled down to hear his story. Admiral finished with the treatment, dapping his emergency gel to soften the wound and neutralise the corruption that was growing inside.
Emerald would need some rest..
"Boy, am I glad that the gang is slowly coming back together!"
"Totally. Just like the old times, but with new faces.. I'd never seen a mushroom stick figure before!"
The magical idol squeezed Oil tightly, he had the noise of a stuff Teddy bear. He felt comfortable and huggable.
Royal purple sat next to Golden rod. She was happy that he was back.. He was happy that she was no longer afraid to leave her castle..
Cloud and Oil played together. Clapping hands and watching Heatwave do his new tricks with his Yo-yo.
Admiral leaned against a tree.. Still staring at the sky.. Hoping and wishing for his friend safety.. That he was forced to leave behind..
Emerald was fast asleep in his tent... He dreamt about the past.. The past that he wanted to dream... He slept peacefully. Ignoring the noises outside.
Cloud was trained by the Princess on how to use his dagger properly. She placed down a target for him to use. Shouting out on which ways to attack, Cloud was confident and was full of determination.
He felt pleased with the outcome so far. He turned to look at Golden rod.. He was happy to.. The stronger he'll be.. The more his power will show.
The crunch of leaves and twigs instantly gave them a quick reaction. Incase it was him.. Or a Vanquisher, they all pulled out their weapons.. Pointing at the forest. Not leaving a single eye contact from what's within the woods.
The noise grew louder.. Then stopped. Admiral stood Infront. Holding out his sword in a battle stance.
"Come on out whoever you are.. We won't hurt you unless you tell us that your not a threat."
"We won't hesitate to hurt you.. After all.. Your surrounded. So don't try to attack us..."
A shadow of a stick figure emerge. Admiral though it was him. He charged first, slicing the figure in the dark.. Heatwave set his hands ablaze. Slowly lighting up the person for them to see their true appearances..
their expression changed once they realised who they just attacked.
Grey...
His scream was agonising. The curdling scream to see his hand bleeding with a huge gash.. Almost slicing it fully clean. His scream lured two more stick figures into the light. Upon seeing what has happened... Their bloods run cold from shock.
Astral Aura pointed his staff at them. Protecting the child from an even further conflict.
Brown picked up the child. His eyes shaken..
"Astral.. Lower down your staff..." He calmly asked.
He walked to Admiral. Admiral was speechless.. He didn't know... He never know..
"B.. Brown.. I.. I'm... Y.. Your back"
He saw the pissed of face his friend was making. Admiral gulped.
He grabbed Admiral by the collar. Pulling him into a kiss. The stick figures glared at Astral.. He already know what they were gonna say to him..
"He's on our side now guys. No need to give him the stare of death."
"Fine.... I may forgive.. But I won't forget all the shit you had done to us."
They stitched up Greys arms. Covering it with a nice soft bandaid. Brown was glad to see his friends once again.. The team is finally back together... And boy.. Does he have a story for them to listen to... To give him the news that grey was finally freed from his control..
Black 6c.. Was on his last breath... To push them all back from stopping his revolution...
Time was running out.

hihi! just checking up on you and the progress of the final (perhaps) installment of my fav rarepair fic ¿
lol I was wondering if I'd left that poor fic languishing long enough for you to send one of these check-ups, lovely stranger. Or stranger who is extremely determined to see fanfic Ray and Mikey fuck nasty. Either way it's pretty cool. I'm alright! I struggled along writing every day at a fantastically slow pace for weeks, got past what felt like that rough point, had a big sigh like ‘phew it's gonna be cruisy now’, and then... proceeded to write absolutely nothing on that fic for weeks. Watched a tonne of spooky movies. Dicked around with unrelated vampire rikey fic and vampire rayrard fic. Typical me antics. The one (1) fanfic task I've appointed myself lately is finishing this fic asap and instead I now have so many unpublished wips I've stopped counting them because I'm afraid. And lollll you're so real for that 'perhaps'. I am not 100% sure about ‘last’ part I'm not gonna lie. Wondering if possibly this fic is cursed and I keep updating it but it somehow never ends. They're all just unbearably horny and sweet for each other in the worst way on Halloween night forever. I'm kidding, I'll finish it, but yeah, I'm not sure at this point if the word count is gonna get too obscenely huge for one chapter. There's like 7k that's edited and ready to publish but who knows how many more words to pull it together. If it hits anything above double that it'll be 2 chapters I think. Anyway, thank you for being sweet and apologies for the typically vague update! I’m sorry I couldn’t post the last part in October, I really wanted to. Here's a preview to prove that I'm doing something. This isn't the first paras of the chapter like I've put up in your asks before so I'm tucking it under a cut in case you want no (super minor) spoilers (but it's my favourite part of the chapter so far 😊)
* “Is it alright if I hug you?” Ray asks. Mikey manages a sound somewhere between a snort and a giggle, wiping his arm across his face and smiling. “Is that what you ask guys after you put your tongue in their mouth?” he jokes. “Sometimes.” Ray looks flushed and downcast and Mikey wants to give him permission to hold any part of him in his hands. “I’m gonna get snot on your jacket,” he protests softly. Ray looks down at the leather on his chest. He hesitates and then tugs the zipper all the way down and shrugs it off his shoulders, leaving his chest and stomach as naked as Mikey’s legs. Mikey blinks at Ray’s peaked nipples and the softness of his stomach curving over the edge of his tight pants as he sits and then looks back at Ray’s face with wide teary eyes. “There.” Ray says. He looks self-conscious but he’s smiling. “Not that that jacket wasn’t totalled already, but now you can’t be polite about it, Mikey Way.” He spreads his arms and makes a ‘come here’ gesture with his right one. “I’m gonna shower in like five minutes anyway, come and get snot on me, go crazy.” Mikey’s silent laughter shakes his ribs as he melts into Ray’s arms. “You’re so weird,” he mumbles as he wraps a careful arm around Ray’s shoulder and rests his head on his chest. “Why do you think your brother latched onto me at college?” Ray smiles again and Mikey can hear it in his voice and feel it in his chest. “Probably wanted someone pretty to make out with at parties,” Mikey murmurs and Ray’s chest jumps against his face as that gets a soft laugh. “I think Frankie’s probably got that covered now.” He pauses and then his fingers touch Mikey’s hair. “What do you think they’re gonna do for a second date after all this?” “Sex,” Mikey says flatly and Ray laughs and nods against the side of his face. “Gerard gets away with so much shit it’s unreal.”

Three Steps to Win You (CH 19)
Title: Three Steps to Win You
Rating: M
Pairing: Daddy Chan/Tankhun, Kinn/Porsche, Vegas/Pete
Category: M/M, AU Nerd-Jock
Summary: Accidentally, scientist Tankhun Theerapanyakul embarrassed footballer Captain Chan "Daddy" Knight in front of his coach, teammates and fans. He had to fulfill three tasks from the captain before his apology was accepted.
Chapter 19
(Tankhun POV)
Tuesday Morning - Theerapanyakul Residence
"P', this is really good," Kim said while chewing on the sandwich that Tankhun brought home last night. As soon as he woke up this morning and finished taking a shower, Tankhun immediately heated up the two sandwiches for Kim and Pa's breakfast.
"Yes, it's really good, son. I don't think you've ever bought this before. Is there a new Deli near campus?" asked Pa, who also seemed to be enjoying the sandwich very much.
"No, Pa, the Deli is a bit far from campus, but worth every mile," said Tankhun.
"P', are you sure this is gluten free bread? It doesn't taste like one at all," Kim insisted, his mouth still chewing nonstop. "Ah~ so good."
"I'm sure, unless Chan lied to me," Tankhun replied without a second thought. “We had lunch together at his regular Deli yesterday. He bought this sandwich for you and Pa.”
"Cap!? Really? Then, I have no doubts.”
"Why, you, little-"
"Cap?" interrupted Pa in a questioning tone.
Ah, Pa ~
One more member of his family he had to lie to. His damn mouth!
"Pa~~! I forgot you don't know about this... P’ is-"
"Kim," Tankhun warned.
"Sorry, P', not my story to tell. I shut my mouth now."
Pa looked at him with gentle eyes, patiently waiting for Tankhun's explanation, while the scientist started to feel very bad. He actually had no desire to involve Pa at all, but telling him the truth now would make things even more complicated. There was no other choice, he needed to be strong and finish his plan to the end. It was only for three months, and he was determined that Pa would not be affected by this matter at all, but even if he had to, as little as possible.
“I’m dating the BSFC’s Captain, Pa,” confessed Tankhun, as calm as he could.
“The Captain? Chan Knight?” asked Pa. “Ah, no wonder.”
“Yes, Pa, Chan Knight,” confirmed Tankhun. “No wonder… about what?”
He was actually scared to hear Pa’s answer.
“No wonder you’re watching football matches now,” replied Pa calmly.
“What? I didn’t know that,” blurted Kim before Tankhun managed to give any response to Pa.
“Yes, Kim, I heard a couple of times, the voice of the football commentary came from his room," Pa elaborated while smiling. Oh, is that a mischievous smile? Pa hadn't looked this excited about anything in a long time, and Tankhun felt his heart split in two. He hated lying to Pa, but seeing Pa like this made him very happy.
“I thought you only watched the derby that one time. Aw~ P’ that is so sweet.”
Tankhun was so~ ready to pull out his claws to silence Kim, but today, Pa was very spirited. If he didn't know better, he'd think Pa and Kim were working together on purpose to gang up on him.
“He’s also a very handsome man, so it’s understandable if you want to see him in action,” stated Pa, his mischievous smile got even deeper.
Oh God…
Did Pa... just tease him? Tankhun felt like he was back in the old days when Ma was alive. If Ma was still here, both his parents definitely would have ganged up on him to tease him without mercy. Tankhun’s feelings were so mixed at that time, he was unable to speak, like there was something stuck in his throat.
“He’s very kind too, Pa~ and the coolest… Cap is the best!” added Kim. “You won't find anyone better than Cap, P'!"
Pa's smile was shifting from being mischievous to be contented and relieved. He looked so radiant.
Okay~ he needed to stop this Chan praise event ASAP, before Pa expecting something that doesn't exist. If only...
Too soon, remember?
"Oh wow, look at the time," blurted Tankhun with the worst acting ever, but he just couldn't take it anymore. "Kim, we better go now."
"Okay, P'," Kim responded as he grabbed his car keys from the dining table and put them into his jacket pocket. "Drop you at Hattrick as usual?"
"Yes," replied Tankhun. "Pa, we're leaving."
"Tankhun," called Pa as he stood up from his chair and walked over to Tankhun. He then gently held Tankhun's face in both of his hands and said, "All I want for all my sons is for them to find great love in their lives, just as I found great love in your mother."
Oh my God…
"Pa..." replied Tankhun who was so moved by Pa’s words at that time, placing his hands on top of Pa's. "I want it too, Pa, believe me."
Pa just nodded slightly and smiled at him, afterward, he pulled Tankhun's face closer to kiss him on his forehead.
"I wish the best for you and Chan, son. So, when can I meet him?"
Whoa! Mayday… mayday…
"We just started dating, Pa," reasoned Tankhun, hoping Pa wouldn't push him. "Still too soon."
"Okay, okay, I'll just wait for your cue then," Pa responded with a chuckle.
Tankhun kissed Pa’s right cheek. “We better go now, Pa.”
“Yes, of course, have a good day, both of you.”
“You too, Pa!” replied Kim. “See ya!”
******
On the way to the Hattrick, Tankhun checked all the messages and notifications on his social media that he didn't have time to check last night, while Kim, who was driving, sang along to a catchy pop song on the radio. To be honest, Tankhun always thought that Kim has a good singing voice, but football is his life, otherwise Tankhun will ask Kim to enter a music academy.
"The boys are so adorable, all of them," said Tankhun with a laugh.
"Who are you talking about, P'?" Kim asked.
"The BSFC boys," replied Tankhun. "They followed me on Instagram. Wait, let me follow them all back."
"They followed me back too, P’! Can you believe it? Me!” cried Kim.
"It must feel like a dream to you," asked Tankhun.
"You have no idea, P’! I think until this very moment I still haven't woken up from the dream," replied Kim who stunned. "Since last night, I keep pinching myself, it's madness, P'!"
“Aaw~ I’m so happy for you, Kim,” said Tankhun, ruffling Kim’s hair.
“Oy, P’, leave my hair alone!” yelled Kim as he stopped the car in front of the cafe and immediately fixed his hair.
“Thanks, sweetie, have a good day!”
“P, wait!” yelled Kim once again. “How about I just wait for you here? So, you don't have to deal with the paparazzi?”
“No need, Kim. I don’t want you late for class,” rejected Tankhun. “I’m going to be fine, besides I don’t know how long the queue is today.”
“Are you sure?”
“Positive.”
“Okay, then, if you say so,” said Kim. “Please, give me a call if you need me.”
“I will, see you~” said Tankhun, waving to his youngest brother, who is such a sweetheart most of the time.
******
The queue was quite long today, Tankhun was relieved he didn't ask Kim to wait for him. He would definitely be late for his first class, if he had to wait this long. While waiting for his turn, Tankhun decided to check the messages and DMs on his cellphone which seemed endless.
[TayTay_11]
Doctor T, congratulations! But more importantly, please let me compliment your fashion sense~ those Ferragamo combat boots are to die for!!! Super love! ❤️
[Tankhun T]
Aaaw~ Thank you, Tay! ❤️
[LB_2_Arm]
Doctor T~, OMG!!! This is Arm, and Pol is here with me atm. We need to ask you something. Will you give us permission to write a ff about you and Cap? Your love story is GOLD!
First, Tankhun laughed at Arm and Pol silliness, but then thinking about them truly writing a story about him and Chan made him shudder. No way in hell!
[Tankhun T]
How about never? And don't you ever think, that you two can create a side account to write a ff about me undetected. Believe me, I will hunt you down and will ask Chan to make your life a living hell. OH, how about VP? Any progress? You need to update me about them!
[CB_BIG4]
Doctor T, I just wanted to say, no matter how bizarre your first meeting with Cap was, I'm glad he found you. Thank you for returning his smile.
Wow , that was intense. Big’s DM made Tankhun so fucking curious though, what exactly that infuriating ex from hell had done to Chan!? He needed to ask Porsche about it.
[Tankhun T]
Thank you, Big.
“Next customer!”
Ah, finally it was his turn.
“Oh, Doctor T, it’s you,” greeted the barista. “I’m Macau, Vegas’s brother. Uhm, P' has already explained the consequences of my action to you. I owe you a big apology. So, I'm so sorry, Doctor T."
The boy, who seemed to be about the same age as Kim, looked very apologetic, so Tankhun wasn't going to prolong the matter any longer. After all, it happened quite a long time ago.
"Macau, right?"
The boy nodded. "Yes, Doctor T."
"Let's just forget about it, okay? It's forgiven."
"Thank you," Macau replied, his face looking very relieved. "Large hot Americano, right? Or you want a jumbo size, Doctor T?"
"Large is enough for today, Macau, thank you."
After paying for the coffee and tipping Macau, as usual Tankhun stood at the end of the counter waiting for his Americano to be brewed. While waiting, he decided to read the last DM on his phone, it was from Pete. It was a long one and seemed more intense than Big's.
[Co_Cap_Pete8]
Doctor T, I don't know if the others have tried to contact you or not, but if they did, I wouldn't be surprised. I just hope you don't feel like we're being too presumptuous or crossing the line by sending you a DM like this. But our team is like a family, and like a real family, we protect each other.
Oh my God, was he about to get "the talk" through DMs by the co-captain of BSFC? These boys truly were adorable, they entertained him so much. Still, Tankhun prepared himself to get “the talk.” He definitely would share this with Chan, they’re going to have a good laugh over it.
But, just as Tankhun set out to read the rest of Pete's DM, Macau called out his name, his coffee was ready.
"Your Americano, Doctor T, " said Macau sweetly while handing the hot coffee to Tankhun. "Have a good day."
"Thank you, Macau. Have a good day, too."
First thing first, Tankhun took his first sip of coffee for today before he continued reading Pete's DM.
[Co_Cap_Pete8]
… We all care so much for Cap, and we're so grateful that we can see him laughing like this again. We've been waiting for this moment for a long time. So, thank you very much, Doctor T! We owe you big time! We don't know how we can repay this, but if you need our help, please say so without hesitation.
Apparently it was not the “if you hurt our Cap, we will hurt you back” talk that he expected, but somehow this was way worse and not amusing at all. In fact, Pete's DM had made Tankhun feel very bad about himself, almost as bad as he felt when he heard Pa's words earlier this morning, or when he made Porsche sad that night at the Moonlight. But, he truly never expected that so many people would be so delighted or this keen because of whatever it is that’s been going on between him and Chan. Not only that, some of them even felt very grateful to him, since they all believed he was the reason that making Chan smile and laugh again.
But all of this was fake! Their relationship was fake... and who could guarantee that Chan's smiles and laughs are genuine? He said it himself, with his own mouth, that it was too soon for him to start a new relationship. So, who really knows? Despite what those BSFC boys said.
What have I got myself into?
Tankhun should have accepted Macau’s offer earlier and gotten the jumbo size coffee. But, honestly, he didn’t think it would make things any better, because for the first time since he discovered the Hattrick, he did not find the slightest pleasure in his coffee.

Hey, I saw your post about coding and got so excited! I'm also a software developer (Salesforce/Python/web dev) and would love to help out with any radfem site ideas you have! The biggest concern I have is if a cloud provider is used to host any sites then it'll still be potentially subject to censorship, but I know next to nothing when it comes to setting up and maintaining servers. But I'm sure that could be figured out later! Is the crisis pregnancy center idea something you're actively working on or just an example?
Awesome! Yes, the crisis pregnancy center idea is something I am working on! In fact I wrote a walkthrough explaining how I got existing data as a starting point and I'm planning to publish that soon. However, it took me (no joke) 8 hours to write up an explanation of what I did in 15 minutes. I think it would be faster to make videos explaining what I'm doing, but then I'm going to have to learn about video editing, figure out a way to disguise my voice (just spit balling here, but I'd probably go with a made-up accent that's still easy to understand, and pass my recording through a voice filter or two), and make sure there's nothing identifying that's being shown on my screen/desktop/ whatever.
I think in the interest of time, I'm going to focus on the CPC project for now, and write up what I did after the fact. I was hesitant to do it that way because I worry that if I don't document it thoroughly while I go, it will never get done... but 8 hours to document and explain the rationale behind what I can do in 15 minutes is abysmal when this is something I want to get finished and available to people ASAP.
For the CPC project, what I'd ideally like is a list of CPCs in the USA, which can then be searched via radius from a city, via phone area code (for ease in setting up fake appointments, though this probably isn't as much of an issue since people move and keep their original cell area code), etc. I want to have any national network affiliation identified, since they share central databases (so if you make a fake appointment with your phone number under one name, don't call up another center in the same network to make another appointment - they'll catch you out and find a way to filter/block future attempts). I want to mark CPCs that are in legal states but are close to the borders of illegal states, since they'll be ramping up their efforts to snare women from illegal states into making appointments with them and getting pregnancy tests, which are not covered by HIPAA and they can turn over to law enforcement as evidence of a pregnancy.
Obviously those clinics should be at the top of the priority list when it comes to leaving bad reviews, setting up fake appointments to use up an appointment slot, protesting in person with signs explaining that it's a fake clinic and they can and will give your pregnancy test results to law enforcement in your state, etc.
I already know more or less how to do this and how to approach it. Right now I'm brainstorming the best way to handle determining the proximity to illegal states and researching the tools that are already available. I'm sure people in GIS have been handling similar problems.

thanks love <3 I keep drinking lots and lots of tea in hopes of getting well asap!
I just finished ep 4 and I'd say it's definitely worth the watch 🙈 I can understand that if people are only watching it for joe and aren't interested in the whole story that it might be a little underwhelming. also joe's character's going through some stuff--as always and he's so pretty doing it--and even if I can empathise with arthur, he isn't very likeable so far and I'm afraid I'm gonna get really emotional in regards to his character arc. I really enjoy a good mystery and characters plotting and scheming, there are actually quite a few interesting characters in this series and most of them have "good" reasons for why they're doing what they're doing. My only problem's that english isn't my first language and for some reason there aren't any subtitles available so there were like one or two things where I'm not entirely sure what's been said but that's okay. Oh that's gotten a bit longer than I expected. If you do watch it, I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Oh no, hope your arm's feeling better now? burns really suck ://
Well, writing is a wonderful way to distract yourself <3 I've read your eddie nsfw alphabet earlier and it's sooo good--I kept blushing and giggling and I can really picture eddie being exactly the way you describe him!
–🍸🖤
ahhh yes tea is always the best thing when you’re sick! I really do hope it’s helping make you feel a bit better <3
hmmm okay interesting! I feel like I should be into it bc I’m an English literature major and it’s all based on Dickinson’s characters right? I’ll probably give it a watch at some point but I’m not in any major rush I guess! I do like a good mystery tho and I love characters who do like bad things but they have really good motivations for it, or at least they think they do in their heads! that sucks about not having subtitles tho! even tho English is my first language and I have no actual hearing problems I always watch all my tv with the subtitles on, idk why it just helps me and I do get a bit thrown off when a show or movie doesn’t have subtitles for whatever reason
regardless I’m glad you’re enjoying the the show and it’s helping keep you entertained whilst you’re sick <3
my arm is okay, it still kinda stings and unfortunately it’s right on the part of my arm that I lean on when I write so that’s been kinda annoying, but I’m determined to power through and get these alphabets done! I’m almost finished with my Chrissy one so I’m hoping to post that either tonight or tomorrow!!
and thank you sm! I’m so glad you liked my Eddie nsfw alphabet, I really do try so hard to try and capture the characters’ personalities when I write so it really means so much to me when I hear people give feedback like that, so thank you <33

summary; you and the boys have quickly found out that there must be another alter fronting some times - you're the first one who has a chance to confront them (this is coming out so quick because i have severe back pain and cannot sleep lol)
confrontation
You and the boys had spent a few hours sat around the kitchen table, relaying every piece of information you now in hindsight thought may not have been neither Marc nor Steven.
When you finally finished Marc's hand was placed over yours, warmth radiating from his touch and thumb brushing gentle circles over your skin.
"I would never be so dismissive of you, you know that right?" The earnest look in his gaze made you feel bad for thinking it was truly him for even a second.
"Neither would Steven." He tacked on a second later, after the other man must have instructed him to do so.
You gave him a reassuring smile and put your other hand over the one caressing you. "I know, guys. I just really didn't think another person was possible."
Marc's mouth was set in a grim line when he replied. "Us neither."
Marc still counted himself as one of the luckiest guys in the world, as did Steven. Merely because apparently they had another alter (one that they thought had been behind those slaughters when they both blacked out, but they wouldn't tell you that quite yet) and you were still here. Still willing to suss out the situation and help them through it.
You gave them the strength they needed to tackle this newest challenge; and hopefully make contact with the other person.
You were all on high alert for the next few days. Marc and Steven had resolved themselves to staying up as long as possible, and then letting the other take over when they became too mentally drained. After about 24 hours, you were insistent that they get some rest. You were perfectly capable of keeping watch over them, and the body definitely needed sleep.
That's how you ended up sat upright on the bed the next night, midnight passing on the alarm clock while Marc slept peacefully next to you. He stayed like that for around an hour before his body finally began to stir.
You waited patiently, a nervous feeling settling in your stomach as you crossed your arms and observed this new person waking from their slumber. In retrospect, you definitely should've known that this was not your boyfriend.
His eyes seemed immediately narrowed, a darker shade than the dark chocolate of Marc's. He sat up abruptly and scanned the room before landing on you, puzzled at your stare.
He cleared his throat before he spoke. "Hey, baby. Why are you still up?" It sounded faintly... Latino? You really needed to start paying closer attention to your man.
"So," You started simply, turning your body to him. Perhaps you should've been slightly uncomfortable around this new person but the familiar body kept you from any sort of real fear. "What's your name?"
"Ah, mierda." He muttered, bringing a hand to wipe over the back of his neck. "Didn't take you long to catch on, did it sweetheart?"
"I'm Y/N. You are?" You were firm in it, determined to get as much information as you could.
"Jake Lockley, not so much at your service." His smirk was flirtatious but his gaze was calculating.
"Nice to meet you, Jake." You stood when he did, following him into the bathroom while he shed his night shirt and made to get dressed like he was going out. "Where exactly are you going?"
Jake didn't spare her a glance as he got ready. The bird had already flown the cage, so what was the point in acting innocent? He had business to attend to, Khonshu's ever present voice demanding him that he ditch the incessant human.
"I have some business to handle."
You put a hand on his chest when he tried to walk by, trying to seem strong in your stance when you were feeling increasingly out of your depth. "Shouldn't you consult Marc and Steven about your business? Certainly anything handled in the dead of night can't be completely above board."
Your first real glimmer of fear was when his hand wrapped firmly around your wrist, not enough to hurt but definitely enough to prove a point. "Marc and Steven never consulted me about their shenanigans, little lady. Though I could've been a help. You may have won the affections of the other two, but do well to remember that I am not them." Jake removed your hand from his chest and stepped away from you. "You going to be the one to tell the god that I'm late or are you leaving it to me?"
Alarm bells rang instantly in your head. God? You thought in a panic. Holy shit he's talking about Khonshu.
Jake only had a split second when he thought he shouldn't have told you that, but at this point you were bound to find out eventually. He doubted he'd be able to keep his fronting escapades a secret from the other two men for long.
"Khonshu released this body from being his Avatar. That's what Marc said." You willed your voice to hold firm.
Jake gave a shrug, shouldering his jacket on. "His exact words were that he was releasing both Marc and Steven, nothing about good ol' Jake." His smile was wry, lacking any real mirth.
You were momentarily shattered for the men that you had come to love. Marc had worked so hard to be freed from the moon god, and even the man standing in front of you seemed less than enthused about his job.
You noticed he had turned from you, heading toward the door. A hasty decision prompted your next words.
"I'm coming with you."
Jake paused, giving you a surprised look over his shoulder. "I don't think that's a great idea."
It's a terrible idea! Khonshu's voice was almost deafening in his head.
You grabbed your own jacket, resolute in your decisions. "I promised Marc and Steven that I would look after them. So I am. Wherever you're going, I am too."
Jake just considered you for a moment, something like pride itching at his chest. "Alright, doll, let's get moving."
Why can't I have one easy Avatar relationship? Khonshu said, but Jake was already ignoring him with his hand hovering over your lower back, escorting you out of the apartment.

If you are accepting requests, a oneshot with belos having a not so sceret interest in the reader, who is a coven scout, and kiki and some of the coven heads are petty/confused as to why he's paying so much attention to them would be funny. I don't know why but I headcannon a few of the coven heads plus kiki would literally fight each other for belos's attention or acknowledgement and he would just ignore them on purpose out of annoyance or just for laughs.

CW: Swearing, Kikimora has a panic attack
“And so I told that hack-”
“Darius! Terra!”
Darius sighed heavily, sending an annoyed glare to the small demon barreling toward the pair. Terra, on the other hand, couldn’t be more relieved at the interruption. If you heard one of Darius’ Alador rants, you’d heard them all.
Skidding to a halt in front of the Coven Heads, Kikimora spoke, panting. The castle was prodigious enough of a size for a person of average height but, for someone of Kikimora’s stature, trying to make your way anywhere was practically a death march.
“A-A meeting!” she managed, “The Emperor… just called a meeting-”
“Yes, stubby, we know. We were just on our way. Is there a point to your bothering us?” he asked, voice dripping exasperation.
Finally catching her breath, Kikimora straightened her posture and looked Darius in the eye.
“The Silver Scout. I heard that Emperor Belos is sending them on a high-stakes operation. Alone.”
“Now that is interesting,” Darius softly mused, intrigued. The information was almost unbelievable. Terra seemed both surprised and aggravated in equal parts at the news of this development. She gave a slight ‘hm’ of disapproval.
With operations of such important standing, the Emperor tended to send at least two Coven Heads in order to assure success. No matter how skilled the witch was, no matter how trusted they were, procedure was procedure. No singular witch was allowed complete control or trust in a vital mission as a failure or a betrayal would be too disastrous of a risk. When sent in pairs, there’s always a backup in the event of a death or similar complication. At least, that was what the Coven Heads were made to believe.
To send a witch on a mission of great importance was a gesture of deep trust on the Emperor’s part in both the witch’s skills and loyalty. To be granted this honor would be undeniable proof that a witch was trusted implicitly by the Emperor of the Boiling Isles. In the violently competitive atmosphere of the Emperor’s court, each and every Coven Head vied for this seemingly impossible opportunity.
“We have to do something!” Kikimora squeaked, seeing that she now had the attention of the witches in front of her. “The closer that Scout gets to Emperor Belos, the less he’ll favor us. I will not allow it,” she declared, clenching her fist in determination. After a second, she glanced up to see Darius and Terra looking down at her with distaste.
“You know,” he began, turning to Terra, “while this little shit stain on the Titan’s ass crack is positively pathetic,” Kikimora shot Darius a dirty look, “she may actually have a point. I, for one, don’t like how close that Scout is to Emperor Belos.”
Terra looked at Darius with a puzzled expression.
“And what exactly do you plan on doing about it, Darius?” looking down her nose at Kikimora, she continued, “Or you, for that matter, Kikimora? Lord Belos knows everything that goes on in this castle. Any attempt at sabotage will be discovered and then punished before you can say ‘Scout.’”
Kikimora, suddenly hit with an idea, interjected.
“You’re right. Emperor Belos knows everything that goes on inside the castle. However, if something were to happen on the Scout’s next mission…”
Picking up on Kiki’s implication, a grin stretched across Darius’ face.
“My, my, Kiki. Now that is a good idea,” Darius looked at his watch. “While we still have a meeting to attend, Terra and I might be able to figure something out.”
Darius bent down to Kikimora’s height and flicked her in the nose.
“You, on the other hand, should do what you do best and stay out of the way.”
At this, Darius stood up and the two Coven Heads continued walking down the hall, plotting possible ambushes in lowered voices.
~~~~
Though usually not taken seriously by the Coven Heads, Kikimora had touched a nerve with the previously unspoken truth in her report. This deviating from centuries-old tradition had only confirmed what they all had discerned from Belos’ behavior towards his second-in-command:
The Emperor had a soft spot for the Silver Scout.
It had started innocently enough with the lowly Coven Scout’s promotion to courtroom guard. These guards were the cream of the coven and upheld and represented in every respect the values and strength of the Emperor. To be promoted to this position was a great honor, but not unheard of.
And then. In an untraditional declaration of indiscernible motivation, they had been singled out from their fellow witches. Having shown great ability and promise in both their training and the field, the scout had been promoted to a position that previously only the Golden Guard held. Whispers rushed as vicious as a river current amongst the Coven Heads. Who is this Coven Scout? Why were they promoted to such a prestigious standing? Why not me? Though the discontent festered deep, no witch was brave enough to stand up to the Emperor and demand an explanation. All members of the court followed an unspoken rule: be as obedient as possible when in the Emperor’s presence. He is not a forgiving man.
The freshly-promoted witch had been provided a sleek new uniform that was designed to be similar to the Golden Guard. The clothing pattern was where the similarities ended, however. Instead of a golden tunic and pauldron, the Scout’s uniform was silver with a belt and gloves as blue as the night sky. Their mask contained softer angles than that of the others. The eyes and slight curves of the cheeks were softer with an elongated beak that provided a strong resemblance to the face of a dove. In addition to this new uniform, the witch was granted a new title and responsibilities to accompany their ascent in status. The Silver Scout was born.
From that day on, the formerly unknown scout stood at the Emperor’s side; opposite the Golden Guard. However, while the Golden Guard’s role was to be seen and not heard, silently carrying out the will of the Emperor and Titan, the Silver Scout soon became a key factor in the Emperor’s decisions.
Belos had been explaining the logistics of a significant operation with the Coven Heads when he abruptly paused. Turning slightly to his left, he addressed the Scout.
“Tell me, Scout, how do you suggest we handle the Selkidomus? I know that you have… experience with these sorts of demons.”
Eberwolf struggled to contain their snort of contempt at having been overlooked. Darius shot them a warning glance, hoping that the Emperor didn’t hear the small outburst from the young Coven Head. If he did, however, he showed no sign of it. All eyes were on the Silver Scout.
Surprised at the sudden and unexpected attention, the Scout’s head flinched slightly towards the looming figure on the throne beside them.
Regaining their composure, they responded in a hesitant voice.
“I’ve encountered the Selkidomus and its kind only a few times, but I’d consider myself familiar enough with their strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies,” the Scout stated. “The Selkidomus’ skin is strong enough to withstand the harsh temperature of the Boiling Seas, so fire magic would be ineffective against the beast,” they continued. “As such, I recommend plant magic to bind and incapacitate the creature and then, once out of the water, ice magic to trap it further and keep it contained.”
Belos hummed in contemplation.
“A good plan,” he noted. “Terra, Raine,” he snapped. The respective Coven Heads stood to attention.
“I trust you to enact this plan,” he said with a tone that indicated that there was no room for argument.
Terra and Raine bowed and with a wave of his hand, the Emperor drew the meeting to a close.
Meanwhile, Kikimora seethed in the corner, watching the Emperor and his trusted guards unhurriedly leave through the side door.
Belos, the mighty Emperor who was in direct communication with the Titan, asked for the advice of a mere Scout of all people. This was unheard of! She was just a mere Coven Scout only a year or two ago! I’ve been a part of this coven for years proving my loyalty to the Emperor time and time again. Why wasn’t I asked? Why not me?
~~~~
Darius and Terra entered the throne room with Kikimora huffing and puffing behind them, trying to keep up with their long strides.
Standing in their respective places, Kikimora and the Coven Heads waited for the meeting to begin. After a few minutes of waiting, Emperor Belos finally emerged from his quarters, the Golden Guard and the Silver Scout trailing close behind him.
Standing in front of his throne, Belos sat down in a fluid motion and gestured for his court to do the same.
“Now,” he announced loudly, ensuring that all eyes were now on him, “the Titan has told me that in order for the Day of Unity to arrive, additional materials are needed.” He paused. “Materials,” he continued, “that can only be found in the Skull.”
Every witch and demon’s eyes widened at this, trying their best to contain their shock. The skull of the Titan was known throughout the Isles to be sacred ground. To step foot there, let alone desecrate it, was unheard of. Even so, not a word was spoken in protest. After all, who would go against the supposed voice of the Titan itself? If Emperor Belos declared it, then it was the Titan’s will.
The Coven Heads sat with uneasy expressions. This was especially prevalent on Kikimora’s face, despite it being mostly concealed.
“As this mission is of great importance, I will be sending the Silver Scout to harvest the materials,” Belos elaborated. Kikimora bristled at this. Her frustration was increasing more and more, expanding like an ever-growing bubble. Threatening to pop at any moment. “I expect none of you to interfere or otherwise hinder the operation.” Although his tone was calm and collected, there was an underlying threat to his words. A threat that Kiki failed to pick up on.
The bubble burst.
“You’re sending the Silver Scout?” she exclaimed. “Alone on a mission to the Skull no less?” she stepped forward. “Emperor Belos, I have proven my loyalty to you and the Titan time and time again during my years of service, but surely you can’t be serious!”
Belos was deathly still. Kikimora, already in motion, was unable to stop if she tried.
“This Scout has only had their position for a year and they’re already being sent on an operation with such high stakes? This plan should involve someone with more experience!”
As her outburst echoed throughout the high-ceilinged hall, the room was deathly still. Neither witch nor demon moved, holding their breath. Waiting for something to happen.
After a silence that stretched for what felt like hours, Emperor Belos broke the silence with a slow, frighteningly calm tone.
“Now, now, Kikimora. I’m doing you a kindness by forgiving your blatant disrespect. I ought to have you petrified for questioning my decision in front of the Coven Heads.” Realizing the severity of her outburst, Kikimora felt herself falling into a bottomless pit of fear. Fear for her life. “But,” Belos asserted coldly, “the Titan is merciful today. You still have a role to play in the Titan’s grand design. However, do not forget that everyone, you included, is replaceable.”
Standing from his throne, Belos raised his voice with an air of authority, sweeping the room with his icy gaze.
“All of you,” the Coven Heads flinched at this. Darius and Terra looked away. “I have chosen the Silver Scout specifically for their level of competency. Their service to the Titan has been instrumental in preparing for the Day of Unity. Can I say the same for yours?” he said, lifting his head. His eye burned like a flickering blue flame.
Kikimora felt her body go cold and the room started to spin. She felt like she was going to faint.
“I-I apologize, Emperor Belos,” she said, immediately dropping to her knee. Kiki’s former confidence seemed to have disappeared in a matter of seconds and was replaced with overwhelming panic. Similar emotions were coursing through Darius and Terra. The fool-proof schemes that they had been planning only minutes prior dissipated from their minds. While they hadn’t expected Belos to be forgiving of anyone who sabotaged the Silver Scout before, they now knew that the Emperor allowed no slander of his most trusted counsel and guard.
“If anyone dares to question my command again, I promise you now. It won’t end well.”
Following Kikimora’s example, all the Coven Heads dropped to their knees.
“Yes, Emperor Belos,” they said in unity.
Striding towards the door, Emperor announced in an exasperated tone.
“This meeting is adjourned.”
As the Coven Heads made towards the exit, gossip swirled amongst them as excitedly as smoke from a kindling flame.
Kikimora followed with shaky steps towards the door.
It was a miracle that she was able to walk away at all.
~~~~~
The following morning, the Silver Scout was to leave for the Skull. While the mission didn’t have a set time frame, they made sure to bring enough supplies with them to last a couple of days in the caverns. After making sure that their affairs were in order, they grabbed their artificial staff and bag of supplies. They locked the door to their bedchamber and headed on their way. Following the drama in the throne room yesterday, the Silver Scout was anxious to get to the castle bridge and complete their mission.
Even though their quarters were a decent walk from the castle’s entrance, they finally made it to the bridge. The stone construction extended from the edge of the portcullis’ platform the second they reached the edge. After the bridge fully extended, the Silver Scout started walking on the enchanted stone. Coming to a stop halfway across, they suddenly felt a pair of eyes observing their movements. Looking up toward the top of the barbican, a tall silhouette stood there lurking as if to watch them set off.
Not knowing how to respond to their observer, the Scout gave a little, slightly confused wave, straddled their staff, and teleported to the Skull with their supplies in hand.
If they had lingered just a few seconds longer, however, they would have seen a little, equally confused wave in response.
