Summer 1996, or later. Severus & Muireann are spending some time on the coast of France.
---
It was another of those bright, lazy summer mornings. A gentle warm breeze was coming through the open window, carrying scents of pine and salt, and the song of waves and joyful birds.
He had gotten up a bit earlier. She hazily remembered him planting a soft kiss on the corner of her lips as she was dozing back to sleep. A grin split open her freckled face as she stretched like a cat; she put on a light robe, shook the duvet and folded it back neatly to let the marine atmosphere freshen the sheets.
As she walked down the stairs, she caught a sweet and tasty whiff wafting from the kitchen. He was making pancakes again. She stopped as she reached the threshold, to take in the scene. He hadn’t noticed her come down, focused as he was on the pan. Somehow he had gotten flour on his cheek. From the hi-fi came Ferrat’s deep and mellow voice, and he was whistling along what was his favourite song these days.
He looked happy.
Tumblr media
Rough translation:
All I nearly lost, all that is given back to me is coming to my lips tonight Still being able to share my youth, my ideas With the newfound love* How beautiful, how beautiful life is Still being able to talk to you, to kiss you, To tell you so and sing it, How beautiful, how beautiful life is!
*technically, the original text says "a love that has been found again"
Here is an explanation of the lyrics in English! And the other song he was listening to just before, do yourself a favour i beg you (it’s about young lovers on a sunny beach, bathing in the warm sea with thyme and pine and pebbles and birds and waves and-)

Drifting Stars Masterlist Ⅱ
I never thought there would be a part two of this solely because of the limited number of fanfictions there actually are for this au. Yet here we are, four months later and somehow able to make this post. Same rules apply; general order of favourites, you are all entitled to your own opinion, add any I may have missed, and that's kinda it.
Onward!
Disconnected by DarrowWyrlde - 4th part of a series, 2 028 words, 2/13
Ok so this one probably should not be in this post at all since it's not drifting stars and more of a lost legends fic. I only put this one here because it's still about Mabel in the multiverse and who knows, maybe that's why you read drifting stars. I don't have much else to say, just thought I'd put it here.
Drift Away by GravityUniverse115 - oneshot, 1 174 words, 1/1
This one was written well despite it being fairly short, the only catch being that it - again - is not entirely drifting stars. It is about Mabel going through the portal, but it is written more as a concept in comparison to a typical oneshot. If someone did write a fic based off of this tho I would definitely read it.
The Drifting Star by Booblybaba - standalone, 35 337 words, 15/?
This was your typical drifting stars fic, I don't have too much else to say except that it was good and that it ends just as I was getting into it. It was a bit fast paced but again, not bad.
Into the Unknown by MintGreenMare - standalone, 31 681 words, 22/22
Finished and Drifting Stars does not go in the same sentence, and yet this fic exists. Fully complete, 100% resolved. It only took like 9 years for someone to actually finish writing one of these. It did take me a bit to get into it compared to other stuff I've read, mostly because it feels more like a collection of oneshots as opposed to a whole fic, but I did still enjoy it.
Ad Astra by Queen_Mab - standalone, 103 406 words, 18/?
So many people go crazy for this fic and I kinda get why, the worldbuilding is done really well and the stuff going on back in Gravity Falls is a lot more interesting than just Dipper and Stan rebuilding the portal. The only setback for me is that it feels unrealistic and was almost pushed too far in some aspects. But again, I get the appeal and do wanna see what would happen next.
Save That Light by Mezzorellasticks - standalone, 11 293 words, 5/?
I'm surprised there aren't more fic's with some of the concepts in this one. I won't spoil it but I could see this happening to Mabel more than once and yet no one has written about it. Some parts felt a little off in terms of character but overall it was pretty cool.
A Familiar Face by Missintroverted - 1st part of a series, 2 350 words, 1/1
This is another fic that's not entirely drifting stars but at the same time kinda is. Instead of Mabel being fully related to Ford, it's another version of her but older (possibly a relativity + reverse portal version). I thought it interesting and I enjoyed the interaction between the two.
Among The Stars by Maviiigirl - standalone, 4 603 words, 2/?
This fic follows the typical outline so far; Mabel falling through the portal, Ford being an awkward dumbass, the two figuring out what's going on before any proper multiverse madness occurs. But the way it was written was really good, that and the fact that this author also wrote a very good oneshot which gives me hope for the future of this fic.
A Little Help by Maviiigirl - oneshot, 3 130 words, 1/1
I thought this oneshot was so cool. Mabel being all responsible while internally panicking and Ford being delusional was actually so funny to me. Some parts were a little quick but overall I thought it was really well done. I kinda wanna see it be continued just to see what Ford would say when he woke up tho.
That's mostly it, if I were to compare the two list's I'd say the quality of the fics from the other one are far better, but these one's are a lot more recent meaning there is hope that some of them will be continued.
I didn't mean to insult any of these, I find my main problem with fanfiction is the way the characters are written and the way characters bond, especially since many are rushed and often there isn't enough time allowed for certain emotions to properly form before diving straight into hurt/comfort. I understand tho, I struggle with that a lot in my writing too.
Anyway, here's the first masterlist if you wanna look at those too :))

20 questions for writers
thank you for @jiubilant for the tag! :)
tagging anyone who'd like to do this.
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Across all accounts, 33 works.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
203,958. damn!
3. What fandoms do you write for?
currently, just BG3. in the past I've written pieces relating to elder scrolls (mostly Morrowind), star wars, and avatar: the last airbender though.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
The Eyeliner Incident
seeds of darkness planted within you
To pull a heart apart strand by strand
Flowers for Zuko
Considering the Weekend
I've bolded and linked the ones here worth reading; the other two are ancient star wars ficlets that I'm not particularly fussed by.
5. Do you respond to comments?
Where possible I do! If people leave comments on older works or fandoms I've moved on from, I sometimes don't always get around to it.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably Considering the Weekend. Which makes sense given it's a Disco Elysium fic about mostly-closeted gay/bi cops in love, who will not be able to break their chains until they realise the police is a violent force of capital.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
A lot of my ATLA pieces have lighter endings given the source material is a lot lighter. The Eyeliner Incident and Follow the Rhinestones are both fics which I think could have had worse endings - but didn't. I wanted to be optimistic in both circumstances.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Luckily, no.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Not really?
I wrote exactly one piece of smut for Elder Scrolls (The Sword that Lies Between Them), which was a fairly chaste piece of lesbian smut all about two rival queens/political leaders in the 1st era circling around each other while one is about to be married off, politically, to a man she has complex, not entirely romantic feelings for. It was my first attempt at it and I think it shows.
Since then, I've tried to write smut for BG3, but it hasn't really ever materialised.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I don't write these, but I do frequently think about the Elder Scrolls/BG3 crossover where my weird dwarven Elder Scrolls OC Bthemetz gets yeeted out of her universe by the nautiloid -- which, tbh, doesn't feel that out there, Mindflayers are Aberrations that originate from Far Away in at least one iteration of D&D lore.
She'd get on with them swimmingly. She's a highly traumatised 3,000 year old ex-priest + ex-revolutionary who got turned into an automaton after dying in a revolution who is 1. technically undead, 2. had her heart literally stolen for lore/plot reasons, so she is shaking hands very firmly with astarion and karlach for various reasons. She'd have the funniest rivalry with gale given she hides much of her bullshit under the appearance of being an eccentric professor, but also she hates wizards on principle.
It would be a hoot. Nobody would read it. I am not writing something no one would read <3
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No, luckily enough.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I've had a request for this once on a popular ATLA oneshot I made - but I don't think this was ever realised. I also had one ATLA oneshot turned into a podfic for charity.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic?
I've attempted this, but it never materialised into anything.
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
f!Kagrenac/Bthemetz from my Morrowind dwemer fanfiction. First loves whose codependent 500 year old lesbian relationship turns toxic after the discovery of a deity's remains. Breaks down with an academic feud, treason, attempts at apotheosis, and the revelation they killed each other in a past life. Despite the fact that one sends assassins after the other to kill them, they're still utterly obsessed with each other. Literally nobody else is doing it like them.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
The Tragedy of Lady Noriko. This was an Ursa-centric ATLA fic that explored her familial relationships & relationship with the Avatar, and wanted to provide an 'alternate universe' Ursa who would not abandon her children - for better or worse. A Covid-19 project that ran out of steam once work picked up.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think I have a few! My current favourite thing about my writing is that I think I have a very strong sense of narrative voice. I'm able to capture how different characters sound very well. I have historically (though less nowadays) been very good at poetic prose too.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Plots! Particularly mysteries, or plots that require lots of pieces. My writing is mostly embellished character pieces and I would like to tackle something where more happens one of these days. I also think I have issues pacing and knowing when to start/finish scenes.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?
I think it depends on the audience, the language, the length of dialogue, and the intent. It can sometimes be very meaningful, especially if one is trying to make a point about the importance of languages, languages as a means of bridging divides, and lack of language as something alienating, potentially, or isolating.
However I will say in a large number of circumstances I find it deeply pretentious. I was reading... a well-loved literary fiction classic by a well-loved London novellist recently, and the fact that the French dialogue was not translated drove me up the fucking wall. There is no reason not to provide translation unless you want to show off how clever you are.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
When I was nine years old I wrote a diary from the perspective of Jack Spicer from Xiaolin Showdown. I definitely didn't know what fanfiction was at that age, I just had an urge to create things using fictional characters. I didn't even use the internet back then, I remember this was back on 'the family computer' in 2003 or whatever.
If we're talking about published pieces, I put some (sigh) Eragon fanfiction up on ff.net back in 2010. I was a teenager, obviously.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
it's the Eyeliner Incident. It's a combination of interesting worldbuilding + fun characterisation + formally interesting without being overly wanky. I also wrote it in about five days, in time for my birthday (<3), and because I wrote it in such a short time, I didn't have time to resent it.
A Thesis: On Twelve Tones is close to my heart as well but I have a MUCH more mixed relationship with that in terms of pure writing quality even if I think it's one of the most significant pieces I've written in terms of developing as a writer.

20 Questions
thank you @appropriatelystupid for tagging me! i just finished my french exam this morning so doing this is an awesome way to spend my afternoon🥳
How many works do you have on AO3?
i was not aware that i had seven written and posted?? that's wild :0
2. What's you total AO3 count?
31,822 words?? also a massive surprise since i don't write or post nearly as often as i'd like...but hey, i'll take the win!
3. What fandoms do you write for?
okay, so obviously supercorp lives rent free in my head, but i'm also deeply entrenched in the cissamione and bellamione fandoms. i've got a fuck ton of wips for them, but i haven't put much out yet. however, recently, rojarias (reignjas) has been taking up ALL my brain space—i'm dying to write a lawyer au.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
erm. well, since i only have seven, i'll give you the top two? 1st: i'm home when i'm with you...2nd: this color looks better on you than me
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
i used to be really into and really good about responding to comments because i really appreciate every single one (and i still do) but it took a lot out of me and made me a little anxious, so i don't do it anymore. that being said, i still love and cherish every single comment that's ever been left!
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
i'm really not the biggest fan of angsty endings, so i don't write them very much. i'd much prefer piling on the angst throughout and giving them a happy ending. there's too much sadness and grief in the world already, i feel like everyone should get a happy ending.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
oo, okay, i'm not sure about happiest since they feel pretty even, but if i really had to pick maybe oh how love stings?
8. Do you get hate on fics?
i don't currently, which i think is in part because of how lovely most people in the fandoms i'm in now are, but years ago i wrote a dramione fic and people had a lot (which wasn't necessarily hate, but it was still unnecessary) to say about that.
9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?
i've tried on occasion, but let's just say i'm still working out the kinks (pun intended)
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
i don't and i don't think i will anytime in the near future because i feel like a lot of planning will have to go into that and i don't have the brain space right now. but secondly, i don't feel an immediate urge to merge any two worlds currently.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
luckily, no, not that i'm aware of—hopefully it stays that way!
12. have you ever had a fic translated?
i've had someone ask in my comments before, but as mentioned above i don't really answer comments and i'm still not sure if i'm entirely comfortable with translations even if it allows a larger audience access to the fic.
13. have you ever cowritten a fic before?
i was working on one with @glitterslytherin a few years back, but we never quite got much of it finished haha
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
it's gotta be supercorp, but currently, rojarias and cissamione have me in a chokehold (i suppose i'm on my supercorp detox atm? maybe i'll be able to churn out fics after this little break)
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
i think this applies to all my WIPs to be honest. obviously i want to finish them all, but motivation is a bitch and she tends to come and go as she pleases XD
16. What are your writing strengths?
i'd like to think i do a pretty good job with dialogue. i used to be better at descriptions, but i think the balance has tilted the last couple of years.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
being able to just write and not edit on the way (another reason i rarely finish things) also planning is very much not my forte💀
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
while i am bilingual and almost trilingual, i do tend to stick with english since i feel like it's jarring to have a bit of a different language suddenly pop up and then the reader has to read the translation. and two, i'm not even grammatically accurate in english all the time, so forget about another language!
19. First fandom you wrote for?
oh, this is so mortifying...i believe it was percy jackson, but following closely behind was harry potter.
20. Favorite fic you've ever written?
i don't think i love any of the fics i have out at the moment—like, don't get me wrong, i'm super proud of them—but there's not one finished one that parades in my head all the time. the rojarias lawyer au and a supercorp orchestra au are constantly being thought about though?
tagging a couple of mutuals if ya'll wanna take part!

Fic Writer Interview
@energievie tagged me in this, and it looks like a fun way to pass the time... so while I'm waiting for it to be midnight so I can post my New Year's exchange fic -- here we gooo!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?  98 (as of January 1st, 2024. I'm counting tomorrow's fic today because by the time most people on my dash see it, it'll be next year. 😂)
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?  396,868 words (as of midnight; 386,482 prior to midnight tonight).
3. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? They're all RWRB, sooooo:
What's Symbiotic Will Always Be [E, 2.6k words; 1.2k kudos]
Take it Down Low / Make Me Get High [E, 2.1k words; 1k kudos]
In the Low Lamp Light, I Was Free [E, 3.1k words; 798 kudos]
I'd Wanna Be Felled By You, Held By You [E, 2.3k words; 766 kudos]
On My Mind (Let's Go) [E, 10.7k words; 704 kudos]
More questions (there are 20 total!) and a blank version of them below the jump!
4. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I try to at least reply with an emoji if I can! But generally, I try to match the energy of the commenter. I really enjoy hearing from people about my work and want to make sure they know I appreciate them for taking the time to leave their feedback.
5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? Oh jeeze, we'll have to harken back to pre-therapy Mags, well before 2023, for this question. (Current Mags has had a ton of therapy.) Probably I Stole Away and Cried [Supernatural RPF, M, 5.7k words]?
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending? I am a lady who loves a happy ending. I'm going to nominate So I Will Weather the Storm [Red, White & Royal Blue, E, 9.8k words] for Happiest Ending in a Mags Fic.
7. Do you write crossovers? I used to write fics with elements of both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Series, but I feel like that... doesn't really count. I also cross canons in the Red, White & Royal Blue fandom... but again it feels like it doesn't count.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic? Absolutely. The early 2000s were a volatile time on the internets, as we fandom olds say.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? AHAHAHAHA wait, you're serious. Um... M/M, with a pocketful of kinks thrown in for flavor? My Kinktober 2023 [Red, White & Royal Blue, E, 92k words] series is a good place to get an idea of what sort of smut I write.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not to my knowledge, but I haven't been on Fanfiction.Net in approximately 15 years, and don't have a Wattpad account, so... who knows!
11. Have you ever had a fic translated? I don't believe so? But that might be fun.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Many moons ago, I used to co-write fic in the Glee fandom. I was one of the authors of the Kurtofsky IMs, for those of you who are in the know.
13. What’s your all-time favorite ship? Don't do this to me, fic writer interview! Umm... probably either Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes or Jim Kirk/Spock. And no, I've never written anything for either of them. But I've read both voraciously.
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? No comment. Because I don't wanna jinx it. Seriously. I haven't even started posting it because I don't want to jinx it.
15. What are your writing strengths? Smut, lol. Quirky, bantery dialogue. Making @hgejfmw-hgejhsf cry (complimentary, I think??).
16. What are your writing weaknesses? Finishing multichapter WIPs. 😐 Outlining -- I'm very much a "do what the characters want to do" sort of writer.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? I'm generally down if I have a reputable source for any translation! I speak English and German fluently, but when it comes to Alex's Spanish in my RWRB fic, for example, I rely heavily on online lexicons and people who actually speak the language natively.
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for? Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
19. What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to? Nope, not even thinking about other fandoms because I go where the dopamine goes, and I don't want to redirect the dopamine before I finish the fics on my Big Giant List.
20. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written? Written and published? Be Worthy Love, and Love Will Come [Red, White & Royal Blue, rated E, 30.8k words]. Written and not published? The Big Giant AU [Red, White & Royal Blue, rated E, wordcount still growing].
Want to play along? Blank version below!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
3. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
4. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
7. Do you write crossovers?
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
13. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
15. What are your writing strengths?
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
19. What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?
20. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

Whumptober Teaser Post
So much for not going for completion. X'D
Here's the general game plan - I've come up with a prompt choice/general plot for each day, and I'm going to start writing them immediately. Whether or not I actually try for completion during the month of October is going to depend on how much I can get written during September - if I have 21 or more done by October 1st, I'll try to finish them all, but I'm not going to let myself try to write more than 10 fics during the actual month of posting to prevent myself from stressing right into burnout again. I'll do periodic updates during September on how many I have written so far to give a general picture of whether completion is likely or not.
I'm not doing purely Coldfire this time! As much as I love it, I think that trying to work on that many fills for only one fandom at a time might have been part of my problem last year, so I'm going to shake it up this year. (Fully half of them are still Coldfire but I can only vary so much from my essential nature, lol.) Below is a photo of my pretty multicolored notes, and under the cut is a transcription/elaboration of the info; the day, the fandom, and the ship/extremely vague premise of each planned fill! (Keeping which prompt I picked from each day a secret for now :P)
Tumblr media
Actually readable version:
Day 1 - Coldfire Trilogy - It Walks Among Us, It Walks Within installment.
Day 2 - DragonLance - Astinus/Raistlin canon divergence fic set during the Legends trilogy.
Day 3 - Coldfire Trilogy - You'll Tell to Me What'll Happen to Me chapter.
Day 4 - DragonLance - Astinus/Raistlin fic chapter.
Day 5 - Melanie Rawn's Dragon Prince trilogy - Andry/Pol canon divergence fic set during The Star Scroll.
Day 6 - Coldfire Trilogy - You'll Tell to Me What'll Happen to Me chapter.
Day 7 - Resident Evil - Weskennedy RE4 canon divergence fic.
Day 8 - Coldfire Trilogy - You'll Tell to Me What'll Happen to Me chapter.
Day 9 - Bloodborne - Laurence/Ludwig, sequel to Erit Praemium Sanguine Sanctum.
Day 10 - Shannara - Garet Jax/Jair fic set during the Dark Wraith of Shannara graphic novel.
Day 11 - Resident Evil - Weskennedy RE4 fic chapter.
Day 12 - Grimm - Sean/Nick canon divergence set during the episode Three Coins in a Fuschbau.
Day 13 - Coldfire Trilogy - You'll Tell to Me What'll Happen to Me chapter.
Day 14 - Grimm - Sean/Nick canon divergence chapter.
Day 15 - Coldfire Trilogy - You'll Tell to Me What'll Happen to Me chapter.
Day 16 - Coldfire Trilogy - You'll Tell to Me What'll Happen to Me chapter.
Day 17 - Resident Evil - Weskennedy RE4 fic chapter.
Day 18 - Resident Evil - Weskennedy RE4 fic chapter.
Day 19 - DragonLance - Astinus/Raistlin fic chapter.
Day 20 - Coldfire Trilogy - It Walks Among Us, It Walks Within installment.
Day 21 - Coldfire Trilogy - It Walks Among Us, It Walks Within installment.
Day 22 - Star Wars - Rexakin canon divergence set during the Clone Wars.
Day 23 - Coldfire Trilogy - It Walks Among Us, It Walks Within installment.
Day 24 - Star Wars - Rexakin canon divergence chapter.
Day 25 - Star Wars - Rexakin canon divergence chapter.
Day 26 - Star Wars - Rexakin canon divergence chapter.
Day 27 - Coldfire Trilogy - You'll Tell to Me What'll Happen to Me chapter.
Day 28 - Coldfire Trilogy - You'll Tell to Me What'll Happen to Me chapter.
Day 29 - Coldfire Trilogy - It Walks Among Us, It Walks Within installment.
Day 30 - Coldfire Trilogy - You'll Tell to Me What'll Happen to Me chapter.
Day 31 - Coldfire Trilogy - 'Cause I Loved You For Too Long final chapter.
...
As you guys can probably tell, I've been kind of holding back on You'll Tell to Me What'll Happen to Me since I started suspecting I might want to do Whumptober, because that fic is nothing but whump (in TV Tropes language I think it would qualify as a Trauma Conga Line). I'm also dipping my toes into some fandoms I really enjoy but haven't written for yet, so we'll see how that goes, lol.
I'm going to bite the bullet this year and post these things properly; everything will be getting uploaded to AO3 and then linked to Tumblr instead of posting directly here, because these will be going up out of order with each other like always and it's so much less confusing for everyone if they're at least properly structured in a series on AO3. Plus, this go round, I should have the time to do final edits/AO3 uploads more easily without the horrific crunch of still trying to write them all at the last minute!
I'll admit I'm really curious to see if any of my follower have ever read Melanie Rawn's books, I read them around the same time I read Black Sun Rising, and although they didn't shape my personality quite as fundamentally as Coldfire did they're still very dear to me. Shannara as well, given that I started reading that series when I was nine, and a lot of my own writing voice (and certainly my love of imagery) was inspired by Terry Brooks.
Now, into the grand adventure of actually writing all of these! XD

20 Questions for Writers
Got tagged by both @throughtrialbyfire and by @redyn-nerevarine to do this fun questionnaire. Thanks for tagging me. :D

I currently have 9, though one of them is a collection of first person character studies that are technically each a separate story.

Serious Mistakes, Sleepers Awake, Adherence, On Apocrypha, The Properties of Ash Hoppers and Slaughterfish.
5. Do you respond to comments?
I try to, though sometimes I get too overwhelmed by what to say and subsequently forget to reply. I swear if that has happened it's not because I don't appreciate them, I do, I'm just really sick atm and don't have a lot of energy to formulate a decent reply that isn't <3 <3 <3. I do try to reply.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
...Oh that's hard, all of them are like that. Adherence might take the cake though.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I don't write happy.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I don't want to get to into it, but I did experience it once. It was pathetic on their end and I'd rather forget it.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I have included smut within fics, though I've never written one with that as the focus....that I've published. My kinks stay secret...
10. Do you write crossovers? If so, what's the craziest one you've written?
Never quite been a fan of crossovers to be honest. I'm also not so into isekai as a genre. So it's unlikely I'd ever dabble in it.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic?
It's in the works ;)
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
Arg, it's 100% Josh and Erra . Give me my dumb cinnamon roll Ashlander OC and my kidnapped Skyrim NPC/ Nerevarine who I OCafied to a ridiculous degree any day and I am happy. Erra is a friend group favourite.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have a pov from Joshi's father that I'm so close to finishing but I need to be in the mood to write 1st person.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I don't know to be honest, I have trouble with these kinds of questions.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I'm a new writer, only really started up with writing fan fiction last year. I still have a lot to learn.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
If done well it's great. I love seeing Dunmeris being used within fics. I use a lot of Ashland, which I've compiled using the Akkadian and Sumerian languages as a the root with some Dunmeris mixed in. Assyiology has its benefits- namely I can pick up half the shit going on in Morrowind and Chimeris ;)
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Trinity Blood. (I made a comic as a teen that never actually put that online).
20. Favorite fic you've written?
A tie between Sleepers Awake (ongoing, main Morrowind fic) and Arkanis: Teldryn (which covers Teldryn (Josh) going through Kogoruhn as part of the Warrior Trial for Sul-Matuul.)

15) If you could only write one type of fic (angst, fluff, etc.) for the rest of your life what would it be?
17) Do you have any wips that you can tell us about? What are you most excited for in you wip?
21) Writers choice - pick any of these questions that you want to answer. (Take the opportunity to answer any other ask!)
Have fun! I'll be in your walls if you need me!
Hello, Watermelon Bastard (affectionate)
2: I'm very partial to Two of Swords. Don't know why.
7: What I used to do (back when I was writing on a regular schedule) was do it in chunks. I might do a little bit of cleanup when I started writing for the day, but nothing major. Once the doc was done, I'd sit down, read like, a scene at a time, fix any wonky-ness etc. until I was finished.
If a sentence needed rewriting, I did it in the 1st draft doc; if something major needed to be rewritten, the old went into a scrap doc and the new written in it's place. If there were really big (as in, we're starting over) changes that needed doing, entirely new document.
Now that I write sporadically, I do a lot of rereading and editing in the downtime between sessions, even on unfinished pieces. Once I'm done I come back to it again and again over a week or so until I feel like it's done.
11: probably a toss-up between first and third limited. As for why...when I use first person I want a closer view, but I've only ever done this with my characters, and it doesn't fit right in all situations. for third limited, it's just what I've been using the longest, and that's just kinda my default at this point.
15: I mean I'm already an angst monster, so. That.
17: God I have so many scraps of things lol. I have the Eran/Morrigan vignette series I want to do, a few missing scenes here and there, new longfic idea and works related to it. It's all just A Jumbled Mess. What am I excited for though?
GETTING THROUGH THIS CHAPTER OF BROKEN BIRD I'VE BEEN STUCK ON FOR ALMOST A SODDING YEAR.
I'll get there eventually. *ugly sobbing*
21: I'm going to pick "Are you a fast or slow writer?"
Most times I write at a glacial speed. Other times I write like a squirrel found the coke stash and can hear colors.

Your Silence Gives Me a Migraine
It Takes a Muscle to Fall in Love
Must Have/Can't Stand Checklist
My whole existence is flawed (You get me closer to God)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
100% if someone took the time to comment I can take the time to respond. I don't get that many comments so I love getting them, they mean the world to me.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I'm Thinking of the Way it Was only because of how it sets up Part 2 of the series. Otherwise, I have a personal rule of always providing a happy ending.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
IMO it's Must Have/Can't Stand Checklist but they're all happy endings so take your pick.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
No, but let's not jinx it.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
100%, the Steddie kind 😏
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
No
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware of
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, but it def looks like it. Both accounts listed on the first half of my fics are both me, old account and new account.

Our boys 💕 steve harrington/eddie munson
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have a few in my WIP folder.
My Chopped AU
This heartbreaking hoarder, widow, Steve based on an episode of Hoarders
The smutiest of smut Steve banging his way through the men of Chicago until he meets Eddie. Basically have the outline written out but only 1 full scene.
Fruity 4 move to California and Steve pines his poor little bisexual heart out over his buddy Eddie who lives it up in San Fran
4,865 words already written of 1st person POV of fuckboy Eddie meeting his match in sweetheart Steve
16. What are your writing strengths?
Describing a scene well enough for the reader to visualize the scene. I've been told readers can often see the scene like a movie.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Run on sentences. Holy shit, am I rambler. Thank god for Grammarly
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I think if it's a language you know and can authentically write, have at it.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
The Office back during S3 before the "It's a date"
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
I used to say Must Have/Can't Stand but I've gone back and reread I'm Thinking of the Way it Was and it still makes me cry. I don't know, I'm just proud of the emotions I was able to pull out and share. It feels authentic.

I haven't written many super angsty fics! Probably By the Horns or From Every Care You Could Release Me which are slightly more open ended, but not angsty by any means!

Bad Books imo! Because it's the most happy to me in terms of trans joy 😤
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I haven't luckily!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

16. What are your writing strengths?
Outlining, planning, emotional beats
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Not as good at describing as I'd like! I used to really struggle with writing less where more would be effective, but I'm working on it!
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I haven't done it but I think it's neat!
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Either Naruto fic about my OCs, or Final Fantasy 7 fix-it fic, I don't remember which came first.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
Bad Books, for the level of character introspection I got to do!
Tagging: uhhhh I'll just say anyone who wants to do it!

22 Answers for a Fanfic 2022
1. fandoms you wrote for this year
Haikyuu (Bokuaka)
Attack on Titan (Eruri)
Jujutsu Kaisen (Itafushi)
Mob Psycho 100 (Serirei)
2. favorite fic you wrote this year
I'll Stay with you - My Bokuaka fanfics are still my favorite ones to write. I hope to get engaged with them again but it's been hard.
3. favorite fic you read this year
I think it was History Retold from a_Bounded
4. favorite opening line/scene you wrote this year
Once the dust settles, all that remains is desolation.
It's from a Serirei Snippet but I felt it's the most powerful.
5. favorite ending line/scene you wrote this year
“No, but I will be.” Koutarou kissed the crown of his boyfriend's head and let the warmth of his body remind him why it was worth moving on.
6. a trope you wrote this year
Angst with a happy ending. Did someone doubt it?
7. pairings you wrote this year
Akaashi Keiji/Bokuto Koutarou
Erwin Smith/Levi Ackerman
Itadori Yuuji/Fushiguro Megumi
Serizawa Katsuya/Reigen Arataka
8. a fic regret from this year
My mental health suffered for while I was writing Chains of the Past and even if right now I'm happy with it, the pain I put myself through didn't compensate the reward.
I'm not sure how I could finish it.
9. a song that helped you write
I've had so many songs on a loop while writing. Lately I worked a lot to La Bachata and Tú me dejaste de querer
First chapter of my Serirei Soulmates AU was a loop of Hellfire of The hunckback of Nôtre Dame
10. total number of fics you posted
24 but for the most part they're snippets that go from 300 words to 2500. I haven't been lucky with longer fics this year.
11. total number of words you posted
118.507
12. most popular fic written this year
I'll Stay with You
13. least popular fic written this year
Little Moments but they're just snippets from Loving you is a Losing Game so I'm not surprised at all
14. longest completed fic you posted this year
I'll Stay with you. It is the last long fic I was capable of writing. After that burnout and twitter killed me. I changed fandoms trying to get that spark back and I didn't feel the joy of writing again until Serirei.
With them I'm keeping myself to short fics, though.
15. shortest completed fic you posted this year
Hurting (323 words)
16. favorite character to write about this year
I'm having fun with Reigen, so I'll go with him
17. a fic you didn’t expect to write
I never expect them, though...
18. most memorable comment/review
This one "this story may have just defeated my prejudice against 1st person pov stories, because it’s so intriguing! i love the domesticity & the realism of levi’s inner world :)"
It was really special, because even I hate reading 1st Person POVs but Chains demanded to be writen like that.
19. trends you noticed in your writing this year
Everyone is depressed :O
20. fics you wanted to write but didn’t
There's an Dystopian omegaverse that worked really great for Eruri but I can't write for them anymore, they're bad for my health.
21. something you want to write next year
I'll see when we get there!
22. an idea from one of your fics that you want people to think about
You are enough and you deserve to be loved
Thank you @curator-on-ao3 for the post idea!

Do you have specific reasons for choosing which tense and pov (1st/3rd person) to use when you write or do you just stick to what you're comfortable with?
oh!! very fun question!! so when writing I pretty much always default to past tense with a limited third person pov. (when roxy and I started writing 17 hours together I realized there was an issue because roxy only writes in present tense while I only write in past, so I decided to just make it easier on us and wrote in present tense for that fic. I didn't mind it, but it did not make me want to switch to writing present tense for anything else)
regarding pov, this is a mix of the influence writing fanfic for so long has had on me, and also just me liking it better. with fanfic, you almost always see people writing in 3rd person pov. I don't know why this is, but almost everyone I've spoken to who reads fanfic agrees they prefer reading 3rd person compared to 1st person. I think because it serves to remind us that we're reading fanfic and not about an oc? even if your writing is extremely in character, I think writing a fic in first person just makes it feel more like an oc because we're already familiar with this character from an outside 3rd person perspective. I hope that makes sense? admittedly, I don't know how this would work for fanfic about book characters in novels written in 1st person pov. I wonder what pov those fanfics are written in hm..
anyway, besides the point, I've been writing fanfic since I was 15. I already preferred 3rd person over 1st person before I began writing fic (bc I was writing original stories for years before I dove into fanfic) but I had tried out both. but then fanfic just got me even more used to writing in 3rd person. along with that, I like having just a bit of distance between the reader and the character. with 3rd person limited you still get a very close look inside their head, but there's just the slightest bit of objective distance that gives the reader an even clearer view into the characters mind than the character themself has. it's a subtle difference, but it's one I enjoy very much
now for tense!
there's really only one reason I prefer using past over present and it's because it's just easier for me. if you're writing a character flashing back to a memory in present tense, you have to then switch to past tense to talk about the memory before bringing it back to the present. if you're writing everything in past tense, you don't have to do that. it's not like it's difficult to make that switch when writing in present tense, but it's just one extra thing to think about that I don't have to even consider if I'm writing everything in past tense.
I personally don't feel like there's a difference in terms of closeness with the characters or pressure with what's going on depending on what tense you use. I know some authors feel like there is, but for me I just don't see it, so I don't really think one is better or worse than the other. I just go for the easier one.
ty for the question!!

For the writer's ask game: 2, 5, and 15
asks for writers
YEAHHHHHHHHH
2. Do you ever hand write any part of your story?
In my heart of hearts I'm one of those pretentious girlies who handwrites the story and then types it out, but in reality I have dysgraphia and my writing process HALTS anytime i have to handwrite. I am a teacher so sometimes I've had moments while monitoring state testing where I've been like......ok wait an idea came to me...and then I've handwritten a scene on a kleenex or blank seating chart to copy down later. I used to type things on a typewriter and then retype them (I collected antique ones but just sold them all last week, sobs). Nowadays since my google doc with my story on it is so chonky if an idea comes to me when I'm not at my laptop I write it in the notes app of my phone, so so so many scenes have come to me via the notes app of my phone.
5. Do you plan or jump right in, and if you plan, how much do you like to do before you start a story?
I don't outline or anything, I'm not one of those people that does like a chapter by chapter breakdown or anything I am VERY much a pantser, but I do think a lotttt during the process. So I'll get an idea in my head and start pounding it out, but also while I'm writing I'm making spotify playlists and pinterest boards and thinking about the characters constantly and plotting what's going to happen next and blowing up the DMs of people who have no idea what I'm talking about to go "do you think this would work" and writing out scenes 5-10 chapters ahead because I get excited about certain storybeats.
I used to do NaNoWriMo every year, and starting in April I would start thinking about what I wanted my story to be. I would spend from April until November figuring out the characters, knowing everything about them, making my silly playlists, coming up with ideas, fleshing out the world, sinking my teeth into it and then as SOON as November 1st came it would be right out of the gate with me starting to write scenes I'd been thinking about for MONTHS.
For fics the instant gratification monster comes out and wants me to post something as soon as I've written it, so I usually write the first chapter of something having no idea what I'm doing and then figure the rest out later.
Sometimes I start writing the week's chapter with a blank google doc like "i actually have no idea what's going to happen next week" and sometimes (like right now) I have the next 10 chapters written and I'm doing weird experimental shit in the docs to see what feels right ahaha.
15. What is your favorite detail to include while writing?
Very typical of 'Meg Writing' is that I like to dig deep into a character's head and tell you like...every single detail of what they're thinking about...I love writing about characters' thoughts. Idk if "everything the main character is thinking at all times" counts s a detail but it's there.
I love slipping in references to Shakespeare, sometimes on purpose and sometimes it just happens subconsciously.
generally speaking though sometimes details are my kryptonite...

Hello!!! 💟💟💟
Could I please have 1, 7, 13, and 15 for the end of the year ask game?
Thank you! 🥰
hello dear! I'm so happy to see you in my box! 💕
What was your writing-highlight this year? I really am proud just about everything I've written. I was able to really branch out with my fic "With All My Love, Kagome" and Bingo Bonanza? That one really helped me stretch my knowledge. I don't think I ever written so much before. All in all, I have so many ideas ready to go for the new year. ☺️
7. What are three songs you put on your WIP list this year? actually, I don't listen to music very often when I write, it's mainly tv. Music makes me want to sing and dance, so I usually just put on some of my favorite movies/tv shows that I've seen before so I don't fully lose track of my writing. 😂
13. how did you change as a writer? I feel like I'm still pretty much the same? if that makes sense, haha. I'm still so new. I've only been doing it for a couple of years, but I do know that I plan stuff out better now than when I was first beginning.
15. time for shameless self-promotion! of course dear! this is from my inuspiration piece coming Jan. 1st!
“Kagome, dinner’s-” Inuyasha walked in the office, his words trailing off when he saw her. “Kagome, are you okay?”
She shook her head, still sobbing as her embarrassment washed over her. He shouldn’t see me like this. She felt a hand on her shoulder and Kagome peeked between her fingers to see Inuyasha kneeling down, staring at her with concern.
“I miss her so much.” She cried out, letting her hands fall. “I’ve been trying to deal with it all, but I can’t do this without her. I need her!”
She watched him swallow, glancing behind at Kikyo's letter and understanding in his eyes. He slowly set his hand on her thigh, bringing the other one to wipe her cheeks, which only made her cry harder. He’s being so kind. She knew what she needed and hoped he would forgive her. She moved forward, clutching his shirt as she crawled into his lap. He situated himself, so he could wrap his arms around her, the two of them on the office floor as she sobbed.
“I’ve been so terrible to you and I’m so so sorry.” She wailed.
Happy holidays! 💕

How does one express non-romantic attraction??
Like I'm making a list of hot pkmn trainers but I'm not attracted to them in the crush/romantic/sexual sense. I think it's like... Aesthetic attraction? But I don't know how to express it :(
I'm just like "awooga hot person they r so sexy mwah mwah" but I'm not attracted to them in a crush/rom/sx kinda way!!! And obviously people misinterpret what I mean because of the language I'm using :(
How the heck do ppl verbalize those kinds of feelings properly ( TTⁿTT ) /genq

Hey yalls, guess who wrote a Danny Phantom one-shot (4k words) that I'm extremely proud of!!! Even if ya ain't into DP, I'd appreciate if you read it & dropped a kudos and commented, because I'm honestly in love with this so much!!!!
Focuses on a confrontation between Danny and Wesley Weston involving Danny's secret identity woooo~
Warning for; panic attacks, descriptions of inhuman appearances (Eldritch!Danny my beloved), & mentions of death!
It's the longest fic I've written to date (I thought a multichapter WIP I wrote in 2018 was longer. I was wrong. That was only 3.5k), and I'm thrilled at the outcome!!
I'm the kind of person who enjoys their own writing (and forgets what I've written after a few days), so when I read it over pre-posting, I was smiling and giggling the whole time. I even screamed from excitement at it (I was on call, and my friends gotta hear me freaking out as I read my own writing XD)!
So, yeah. I really hope you enjoy, because I sure as hell did!

I just discovered «Ridgeside Village» (a Stardew Valley mod) and oh my gods it looks so good!!! The mod adds so much to explore, both new areas and new villagers!!!
Plus, it's compatible with Stardew Valley Expanded (Expanded edits the existing valley for the most part, while Ridgeside Village adds a whole new map outside of Pelican Town)!!!
(If y'all like SDV Expanded, or mods that do similar things, please check out Ridgeside Village if you haven't already!!!)

It's kinda sad to know a good handful of people who've played Stardew Valley haven't played (or heard of) Harvest Moon. Maybe it's just a generational thing, but whenever I've gotten my friends into SDV, I always ask if they know Harvest Moon first. Literally always no.
ANYWAYS if you like Stardew Valley, please check out the Story Of Seasons line (the new name for Harvest Moon games), the Harvest Moon games before DS, or Harvest Moon A New Beginning (3DS)
OR if you like the fighting in SDV as well as the farming bits, I've heard the Rune Factory series is pretty good :D

My #1 post of 2022
Sometimes I wish I could love in the way others could.
To look at someone and just know. To feel the warmth and joy, and desire to be with someone forever.
But my feeling of love comes in different forms.
Sitting outside and playing my ukulele, while the squirrels and chipmunks watch, and the birds chirp along.
The tickle of eyelashes blinking against cheeks, and the fuzzy giggles that brew inside.
Telling someone a secret which you're sure they would never speak to you again over, only for them to tell you it's okay, and that they still care about you.
A stray (or just sassy) cat letting you pet them, no matter how brief the moment may be.
Walking around a night-fallen city with your friend, illuminated by the neon signs, and high on life.
Doodling something that turns out even a little better than you were expecting, brightening up the rest of your day.
Reading a story that overwhelms you with so many feelings that you have to scream, because the world deserves to know how you feel.
Maybe I can't feel love in the way others might. I think that's alright, though, because I notice all the other ways I feel love. And I think I love that even more.

*Holds a mic very close to ur face* can u tell me more about ur ice skating experience cuz i really enjoy reading about it in ur fic and i wanna know if there are any things that are cool or interesting but dont rly fit in the fic format (or would be more fitting in a, just a random example, very anticipated prequel)
Wohooo, I actually only did ice skating for two short years, which is a giant shame, bc I loved it to bits. BUT, I've been doing artistic roller skating for 18 years, which is similar to ice skating but on roller skates! I skated seriously mostly on a national level for 12 years, before quitting bc of college, but I still do it regularly as a hobby. At the moment I'm part of a synchronized skating team and we're going to our first competition soon which I am very excited about!
So most of the skating terms and choreo ideas that are in the fic come from artistic roller skating, but that's fine bc they're the same haha. And for the rest I use google and my limited experience as a figure skater. Anyway, you asked about cool facts, so lemme write some down!
Satoru Gojo and Yuzuru Hanyu (the absolute GOAT of figure skating) share the same birthday at 7th December!
I had a lot of trouble with figuring out the time period where the story takes place, so I settled for a little bit in the future. The years written above the past arcs, as well as the locations, are the actual seasons and locations the named competitions have taken place in, but I fucked with the specific dates bc I had to fit them around the characters' birthdays :>
The minimum age for skaters competing in seniors is 15 (but only if you turned 15 before July 1st) which means that Satoru and Suguru both became eligible for seniors in the same season. (Though right now the ISU is discussing raising the minimum age to 17 but for the sake of the story, I will keep it at 15)
The competition where Suguru beat Satoru were the World Championships of 2014 in Nice, France when they were both 16 years old (this is ridiculously young for men's figure skating bc most seem to peak at a later age but they're both special grades lmao so it's a bit handwavey :>). Suguru dropped out a year later at 17
In this story stsg are the only two skaters who have consistently landed a quadruple axel (equaling 4,5 airborn turns o.o) in competition. After Suguru quit Satoru remained the only one able to do it for the next ten years.
(The element difficulties in this fic are slightly exaggerated compared to real-life figure skating, but only slightly :>)
Suguru's signature jump was a quad Lutz + quad Toeloop combo bc my opening jumps always were double Lutz + double Toeloop and I needed to project xD
you differentiate between edge and toe jumps depending on whether you use the edge of the blade or the toe pick. Edge jumps are the Axel, Loop and Salchow, while Lutz, Flip and Toeloop are all toe jumps. Satoru likes Axels, Salchows and Toeloops bc they put less strain on his injured ankle, but for the sake of maximizing difficulty, he usually did the other jumps anyway. Suguru's favorite jump is the Lutz.
I wanted Maki and Yuuta to be in pair skating at first, but decided to put them in singles in the end bc it fit their characters more
Yuuji, Megumi and Nobara are ice hockey players and their team captains are Todo and Yuki
I have not decided what Toge and Panda are doing ^^'
Ice dance is considered the "nerd" sport on ice bc it's (for most people) not as interesting or high-stakes as pair skating or singles, but the ones who did it know that it's actually more exhausting than the more "jumpy" categories and very very hard bc of the level of perfection needed in every movement. Dance is also a part of artistic roller skating that I'd like to explore more in my personal life.
And lastly: Figure skating and ice dance use different boots and blades. The ice dancing boots have shorter shafts and the blades are also shorter. This is for increased agility for quick turns and stuff. I have not yet decided if I want to make stsg buy and break in new skates though, so this detail might be ignored.
