OH I FORGOT GABRIEL SENSED ADRIEN WAS SAD WHEN HE GOT REJECTED BY MARINETTE AND HE’S ABOUT TO AKUMATIZE HIM AND THEN HE REALIZES IT’S ADRIEN AND HE GOES, “Adrien? Wait, Adrien doesn’t have an alliance ring! I better go give him one so I can give him Miraculous powers when I akumatize him. And I better pretend to be a good father even though I’m giving him a toy to distract him from the pain while I become even more distant.”
he pulled an, “all the better to akumatize you with!”

Best Lovesquare-centric Fics And Series That Completed In 2023
So the majority of fics I read include the Lovesquare in some capacity, but I figured people might appreciate a list of great fics that really center around them, particularly romantically.
As with the other lists like this, these fics all come from my previous reclists for ML fics I really liked that finished during 2023. So if you like these, you might want to look through the collection I set up for all these fics.

home is where the fight is by @rosie-b
Nadja Chamack’s voice greeted Adrien as he sat up straight, wiping his clammy hands on his pants and ignoring the black kwami floating by his shoulder. “—shocked to see our heroine fall in battle today, taking a direct hit from the akuma just as she detransformed. Parisians are torn between blaming Hawk Moth and Cat Walker for their roles in this tragedy, which ultimately revealed the civilian identity of Ladybug, Marinette Dupain-Cheng.” Adrien turned off the TV and lowered his head as his vision blurred. Written for Ladrien June Day 7: Injured
I adore this fic! Which shouldn’t be a a surprise, it’s no secret that I love Sentiadrien Enemies AU. Adrien’s so worried about Marinette getting hurt, and wishes that he could help keep her safer, could tell her what’s really going on or get rid of the ring or something, but he can’t. Still, he IS able to find clever ways around some of his father’s more problematic orders. Loopholes for the win!

Patrolling with a friend for Christmas by @seasofsilver
Adrien just wanted to gift his Lady some time off and hang out more with Marinette during the festive season - it didn’t exactly go to plan, but somehow ended up… better?
This was adorable! Chat Noir tries to give Ladybug a break by recruiting Multimouse to replace her on patrols for a bit, and Ladybug returns the favor by recruiting Aspik to replace Chat. Yep, it’s Snekmouse!
---
Under the Umbrella by @fruitdragon1a
Almost everyone has a soulmate. What are Adrien and Marinette supposed to do when they meet theirs? ML Secret Santa gift for Mei! Merry Christmas! Thank you to Now Loading and Rewan Demontay for beta reading this fic!
So this is a version of soulmarks I haven’t seen before. Around age six, soulmates get a soulmark that shows what their soulmate is thinking when they first meet them. Though I guess it doesn’t register while transformed, since it only counts for this one when Adrien and Marinette meet as civilians, and not when they first meet as superheroes.

you don’t even know me at all (but I was made for loving you) by @ladyofthenoodle
They didn’t remember each other. The hospital told them there’d been an accident—brain damage—but Alya had told them the truth, later. Who’d they’d been to each other. What they’d given up, and why. But even with their memories of each other gone, Adrien and Marinette are still inextricably tied together—by law, by their social circles, and by their hearts. And in the apartment they share, there’s only one bed.
Yep, it’s the “there was only one bed” trope XD! I especially love how it was used here, how Adrien and Marinette are strangers now but they had a whole life together, and they pine for each other even without remembering, and how Marinette just can’t believe how in love with her Adrien is even though he doesn’t remember her. I loved the emotional turmoil the two of them went through together in the fic, and the resolution, it’s great!
---
Until I Found You by @linnieluna
Working their way up to a settled adulthood, Marinette and Adrien, now 23, gain a reason to believe that they are expecting—way earlier than they ever planned. Still unwed, it evokes a revelation on Adrien’s behalf. Was it time to take the next step forward?
I loved the emotions here, how Adrien and Marinette reacted to the results of the pregnancy test, how complicated their feelings about it were - and how it prompted Adrien to take action. It’s a really sweet fic!
---
From school bells to wedding bells by @linnieluna
When the superhero duo takes on another exhausting fight against an akuma, Chat Noir does what he never hesitates to do and takes a hit for his partner. The problem being: neither of them knew what power the akuma possessed. That is… until he is transported into the future. More specifically, to his friend Marinette’s wedding.
Ah I love time travel fics! Older!Marinette’s surprised, Younger!Adrien’s bewildered, and Older!Adrien is off knowing exactly what happened and giving his younger self some subtle heads-up.
It gives Adrien something to look forward to, to cling onto, through bad days in the future at least!
---
u + me = love by @xiueryn
Marinette has a massive crush on Adrien. He has a crush on the superhero, Ladybug. When he says the only person he’ll invite as his plus one to an event is Ladybug, Marinette takes her chance to romance him for the night. AU. (a fanboy and fangirl start to date.)
This is just a fun Ladrien story. Ladybug is happy to oblige in Adrien’s fantasies, and no one else believes that he’s actually dating Ladybug.
---
Miracoffee by @pauliestorylover
Ever since the last Mr Pigeon attack over nine months ago, Hawkmoth has fallen off the face of the earth, seemingly for good. There’s never been a better chance for an identity reveal—but after keeping her identity a secret for so many years, Marinette feels incredibly nervous about one. When Chat Noir accidentally finds Ladybug working at a café, Alya comes up with a brilliant idea. If Ladybug and Chat Noir interact regularly in a civilian setting, surely they’ll move towards an identity reveal without outside interference?
Adrien Never Goes To Public School Coffee Shop AU here! It’s funny how he clocks Marinette as being Ladybug IMMEDIATELY. And then after discussing it for awhile, decide to make a bit of a game of the identity reveal, having Chat come in on pre-determined days and seeing whether Ladybug can figure out who she is, all while they get to know each other, even if in passing.
Love the other Miraculous heroes making cameos as well, Marinette seems annoyed that Nino cosplaying as Carapace actually doesn’t tip anyone off XD.
---
For the Sake of a Ring by @rosie-b
An akuma that transfers people’s consciousnesses into other universes hits Ladybug, sending her into a world where everything is the same… but instead of earrings, she’s wearing a ring on one hand! She’s only just arrived in this universe, but already Plagg seems to have gone missing. It’s up to Marinette to figure out what happened before she’s sent back home! This fic takes place in the future, after Season 5, but it does not contain any leaks or major spoilers. Please keep the comment section spoiler-free, too!
This is really cute, Marinette gets transported into a world where she’s married to Adrien and is really confused as to why and how they got married at sixteen. Adrien’s just an adorable puppy who thinks his wife is the most amazing person in the world!
---
His Princess and Her Knight by @seas-of-silver
Adrien, Marinette, Nino and Alya have a group assignment about how the past has shaped them into the people they are today, but they’ll make a discovery that’ll send them searching for answers.
This fic is adorable, Adrien, Marinette, and Nino uncover that they all went to the same preschool together, with Adrien and Marinette immediately latching onto each other, Adrien being the knight to Marinette’s princess, and also making friends with Nino. Sadly he was pulled after two weeks, but it made quite an impression on him.
---
A Friendship Not Abandoned (Just Delayed) by @nomolosk
Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrien Agreste first met as tiny little kids, but then Adrien had to move away. When they finally meet again, will they even remember each other, much less become friends again?
Poor Adrien keeps on saying or doing just the wrong thing to give Marinette the impression that he’s a bully like Chloe when he’s not, and he keeps desperately trying to fix it. So a bit of an enemies au in that way, since Marinette doesn’t like him much. He does gradually manage to convince her that he’s a good person though.
---
The Mer-Human Race by @rosie-b
Bringing her hand closer to his lips, Adrien tried to plant a kiss on it, but Marinette pulled away before his lips could touch her. “Save it for your girlfriend,” she said teasingly. “Or do you still not have one yet?” Adrien smirked and crossed his arms. “It’s a girl,” he said. “And I know her in real life. That’s all you get. Now, let’s get back to planning, shall we? We have a mermaid to beat.”
Lovely world-building here! Merfolk and humans have had a treaty for a long time, so there’s a tradition where merfolk can challenge humans to a race, and whoever wins gets to ask for a reasonable sort of reward (in Marinette’s case, she wants to be allowed to captain a ship at a younger age than is usually allowed). Alya, Nino, and Adrien are naturally very encouraging towards Marinette, and luckily for her, a nice merman going by the name of Chat Noir shows up and challenges her to a race…
Yeah you can see where this is going XD. It’s fun, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

A Mousey guest by charliepoet13
Adrien Agreste has finally managed to break away from his father and make his way out into the world. One faithful night, after settling down in his new home, he spots a strange guest.
Adrien X Multimouse fic here! So this is inspired by the Borrowers, with little people the size of mice living amongst ordinary-sized humans, and Marinette got a little careless here XD. But soon finds that Adrien’s friendly and not a threat. It’s adorable and reminds me of the The Littles book series that I read when I was a kid!
---
Caught In A Multimouse Trap by @a-flaming-idiot
Adrien was having a rather slow morning. That was until he discovered a tiny superhero trapped in his home and decides to be a bit of a hero even out of his suit.
This was adorable! Adrien does his best to care for the little miniature superhero caught in a mousetrap, bandaging her up as best as he can (thankfully only her tail got caught so it’s more of a phantom pain than an actual injury) and just… it’s really cute.
---
do you think I have forgotten about you? by @roseinaugust
Based on the song ‘About You’ by The 1975. Memory Loss. Told in alternating time lines, one leading up to and one dealing with the aftermath of Marinette relinquishing the Miracle Box and the guardianship. Marinette struggles with her life after losing her memory, though there is a persistent voice that calls to her that always seems just out of reach in her memory.
Beautiful memory loss fic here, with seeing Ladybug’s and Chat Noir’s relationship before she gave up the Miracle box, juxtaposed with the present day, when Adrien is only a stranger to her. I could really feel how Marinette was struggling with navigating these new circumstances, with her friends seeming to expect her to remember, to be who she was to them, to Adrien especially, before, and her just… not knowing whether she can do that. It’s got a happy ending though, for those who are concerned about that.

How Marinette Learned to Stop Worrying And Love The Ball by @rosie-b
Hidden from the crowds thronging around the busy fairy portal in Paris’s town square, a fae gate sits at the edge of the forest, locked, rusty, and full of ancient magic. Marinette thinks that this abandoned gate must not work anymore… but one day, a fairy disguised as a black cat steps through it.
Ah, Fantasy Soulmate AUs, my beloved XD. This ain’t the only one of this fic type I’m gonna be recommending. This is just a cute fluff fic without much strife. I love Marinette and Chat Noir being able to be childhood friends via his visits, even if he has to pretend to be her cat whenever he comes over, and I ESPECIALLY adore Alya being his chaperone and quickly becoming friends with Marinette in her own right. It ain’t a complicated plot, but it is a nice and warm fic.
---
Stay Weird, Ladybug by @diadraws
Ladybug receives an invitation at the end of a patrol! Contains some of my own headcanons, most notably: MIRACULOUS HOLDERS ARE CREATURES!!! They get actual animal traits when transformed instead of just a costume. My tumblr is diadraws where I elaborate some more on my headcanons which may add some additional context to this fic if you are interested! CONTENT WARNINGS: *major* depictions of panic attacks, discussion of child neglect/abuse, and a minor emetophobia (vomiting) warning towards the end.
I’ve loved the comics and fanart I’ve seen dia create for this AU, with Ladybug’s and Chat Noir’s more animalistic designs, so reading a fic set in that AU was a real treat! It’s mostly just a Ladrien sleepover at Adrien’s house, but it’s very nice and cozy, with some good character development of Adrien helping Ladybug with panic attacks she keeps having.

Our Tales Are Endless (That’s Why I Tell Them) by @joonapeach
Marinette lives a simple life - one surrounded by pretty dresses, fresh macaroons, and the calming view of Paris. It’s a life she thinks she has always fit in. And yet sometimes, when a certain boy comes by her shop with a flower and a new adventurous story, she can’t help but wonder if there’s something else she’s missing.
This was a truly gorgeous story. It’s the classic “Marinette gives up the Miracle Box and loses her memories” storyline, exploring her life two years later. Even though she’s had time to heal and recover, she still feels like she’s missing something, something big. At least Adrien’s stopping by regularly to tell her stories about Ladybug and Chat Noir, even if she doesn’t understand why they resonate with her so well.
---
a winter so warm by @rosekasa
winters were hard for even the best of vampires, but at least adrien had marinette to keep him warm with her cuddles. december was going to suck without her. so it was only to be expected to get extra cuddles in before she left, right? (well, not really, considering those heating supplements he was taking, but she didn’t need to know about that).
This one’s mostly just cute cuddly adorableness! It’s basically like all those “Marinette gets the Ladybug trait of needing to cuddle up to someone for warmth”, but with Adrien instead. And of course featuring Marinette being a very talented witch who just wants to help Adrien stay warm when she isn’t there XD.

The Power of Love by @nedjsmlfavs
In which Ladybug announces that she’s pregnant via her long term boyfriend and Chat Noir is a supportive partner. After all, he can hardly be upset when he’s been dating his Princess for years!
A different take on the show’s tagline (“The Power of Love Always so Strong”) written for Valentine’s day 2023.
This is just a sweet, fluffy fic about Ladybug and Chat Noir finding out they’re having a baby, revealing to each other, getting married, and becoming parents. Gabriel actually tries to do better here, as he does actually care about getting to know his grandchild, and realizes that he can’t undo this timeline without undoing his granddaughter’s existence as well.
---
Villainous Matchmaking by @nedjsmlfavs
When Chat Noir is tragically unable to attend an event with Ladybug, the mayor calls in a favor from a designer ‘friend’. Now she’s attending in style, on the arm of the hottest male model in Paris. Which would be fine if it weren’t for one, tiny issue: Paris’ favorite domestic terrorist now knows how Ladybug feels about his son. This leads him to his greatest plan yet, using Ladybug’s extremely obvious crush on Adrien Agreste to akumatize Chat Noir.
A Ladrien/“platonic” Ladynoir fic
This is adorable and hilarious. Gabriel keeps on “accidentally” releasing things which makes it looks like Adrien and Ladybug are a couple in an effort to make Chat Noir jealous, while Adrien and Ladybug ae just over-the-moon about getting to spend time together and finding out that the other person loves them XD.
---
Fate, Destiny... A Hamster by @mostmagical
After finally moving into his very first apartment per Ladybug’s suggestion, Adrien discovers something no movie or TV show could have ever prepared him for: someone else's hamster.
Marinette was so excited to have her first pet. If only it would stop escaping!
At least now there’s an excuse to talk to the new neighbor.
(Adrienette Never Met AU)
Funnily enough, this is based on a true story. Specifically, the author’s own experience of having her hamster run out and be found by a neighbor.
Anyway, this is adorable! Marinette and Adrien become smitten with each other extremely quickly, with Marinette’s hamster keeping giving them reasons to talk. Very effective wing-hamster, that one XD.

Through the Looking Glass by @jheqiawrites
Adrien is a lonely child, cut off from the outside world by his parent's strict rules. But when he discovers a window in his closet and sees a young girl looking back at him like his reflection, maybe he has hope for friendship after all.
Poor Adrien here, he makes a long-time friend (who everyone thinks is an imaginary friend), and has several great years interacting with her as his parents grow more concerned with him not growing out of it... and then Emilie dies, Gabriel orders the window destroyed, Adrien’s put on medication to suppress his “hallucinations” (which also makes him forget Marinette) and he’s just kind of left like that for the next several years, until he’s an adult.
Luckily, while Adrien forgot Marinette, Marinette never forgot him, and he’s not too difficult to track down...
This is some really cute Adrienette, if you want a “forgotten childhood friends-to lovers” Adrienette story, you should check this out!

Miraculous Conception series by @ladynoirfanao3
Summary of the first story, The Power Of Creation:
Everyone knows that Ladybug's cure fixes everything after the destruction wrought by Shadow Moth's akumatized villains. After an akuma with an unfortunate power leaves Ladybug and Adrien in an awkward position, Marinette has never been happier to simply forget. However, she soon discovers that her miraculous ladybugs have a limitation on their curing ability, a limitation that puts her in a situation she never expected to be in.
So basically, Ladybug and Adrien run into each other just as an akuma makes everyone in the vicinity extremely horny, and when they both start remembering things again, they’re in a pretty... compromising position. But it’s just an akuma so they put it out of their heads, until Marinette discovers she’s pregnant and has to decide what to do about it, whether to keep the pregnancy, tell Adrien she’s Ladybug and is having his baby, what to do with the earrings when she’s too pregnant to be Ladybug, etc.
I really enjoyed it! Just watching Ladybug and Adrien try and navigate the situation, especially with secret identities thrown into the mix.
The main fics in the series are basically the same story, it’s just that the first one is from Marinette’s perspective, while the second one is from Adrien’s. The Power of Creation is rated M while the Power of Destruction is rated E, but for both fics it’s just rated that for a single sex scene that occurs in the fic (with it being the same sex scene in both fics, just told from two different perspectives).

you made me a hero - reverse crush short stories series by @non-fantasy
This series is just plain fun! Like the title says, it’s a reverse crush AU, so Adrien’s head-over-heels for Marinette, while Ladybug’s smitten with Chat Noir. Which means that Adrien’s constantly trying to woo Marinette while Ladybug’s attempting to have normal conversations with Chat Noir (and failing), and both of them are oblivious to each other’s feelings.
I love the way non-fantasy executes it, with Alya literally carrying around a spray bottle because of how eager Adrien is, and Ladybug being VERY SCARY if you ever lay a finger on Chat Noir (seriously akumas will literally beg for their akumatized object to be broken just to escape her wrath).
Oh, also, Ladybug regularly stops by Adrien’s room so they can both lament how difficult of a time they’re having wooing their crushes, and just have fun together.
There’s a lot of entries in this series - 29 of them in fact - but most of them are pretty short, making it great if you want to devour some quick, cute, hilarious romcom action!
Some stuff does actually change over the course of the series, it’s not just slice-of-life. Like identity reveals, dating, and even Hawkmoth’s defeat, so there’s clear progression and changes in circumstances as well.

Dreams of You by @chocoluckchipz
Dreams had long been his only escape. Dreams of Ladybug, the girl who had always been there for him.
If only in his dreams. And only while she was also sleeping.
Because with the first rays of sunshine gliding over her skin, with the first fluttering of her eyelashes, from the moment she opened her eyes in the morning, memories of Adrien would vanish from her mind.
She would go on living her life.
He would always be the only one who remembered.
At least until they meet in the real world and fall in love all over again, something that would’ve been easier to do if Adrien wasn't a prisoner in his own home.
Chocoluckchipz has some of the most beautifully executed lovesquare fics I’ve read, and this is no exception. Most of the fic is dedicated to Adrien wooing Marinette, spending time with her, with her own dream self acting as his wingman, giving her tips on how to get her to fall for him, all the while frustrated that she can’t share memories with her waking self, and that she and Adrien can’t share as much information as they’d like while asleep, due to limitations of the “curse” that allows Adrien to share dreams with his soulmate.
It’s not all cute Adrienette fluff though. There’s a threat in the background waiting to erupt, as the weirdness of Gabriel’s ultimatum to Adrien about finding Ladybug or else being forced to marry Lila keeps on gnawing at him - and with good reason. This is a world with magic and kwamis still, and that fact makes itself very relevant in the last third of the story.
It’s a well-written tale and very much worth a read!

Sometimes It Works Itself Out
By: the-coffee-fandom
Art here
Marinette really could not take any more bullshit. Honestly. She might punch the next person that comes by if they try and say something dumb to her.
Here she was on what was supposed to be the happiest day of her life. Well, the anniversary of such anyway. The anniversary of what she was told was the best day of her life. But even though she was told as such, it never felt that way to her.
Your wedding day is supposed to be filled with a million flowers, a cake too big for all your guests to eat, surrounded by everyone you love and cherish, and with the person you plan to spend the rest of your life with. Your chest is bursting with joy and the smile can’t be contained nor wiped off your face, the birds feel like they are singing love songs far into the night. Everything is perfect. That’s how she always thought it was.
That’s what she thought she had with Adrien. She didn’t realize that her vows were hollow in his heart and his eyes were always on another.
Even if that other was technically still her.
Ladybug felt like a different entity to Marinette. She was strong, confident, and powerful. Marinette had a semblance of that still within her day to day life, but not to the degree that Adrien Agreste had fallen for. He was in love with a hero, not with a human.
Maybe that’s why she wasn’t upset when she found out about his crush on another. She watched as his eyes drifted over to him whenever they hung out together. She saw the hearts in his eyes, felt the quickening of his heartbeat, and heard the stutter of his breath. It was so clear that he had moved on now that he had grown up and realized his fantasy of marrying the mask of what she used to be wasn’t the life he was meant for.
She was in a light pink dress, cherry blossoms decorated the ends of it. If she twirled her dress would flare out and circle her. She liked her dresses like that. She knew her maskera had begun running down her cheeks, black streaks decorating her face like rain drops on a window. She felt it deep in her soul that this was definitely the right thing to do. Not just for her partner, but for her as well. Moving on is hard but it's right.
So she finished the last of the papers making it official, and walked out of the room now a single woman again.
She paid no mind to the blonde that tried calling after her. She didn’t need to hear a thousand more apologies, empty words falling past his lips trying to fix the pieces of a relationship that was never meant to be. Her heart hurt and she didn’t need him to see her break down.
She threw open the doors and stepped into the cool breeze of the outdoors. It was almost a slap in the face how bright and beautiful everything was. It was a painful reminder of her own wedding day. So filled with warmth and love and laughter. Everything and everyone but her.
She lifted her eyes from the concrete and they met with azure blue eyes that were filled with a sympathy and understanding beyond what she thought she deserved.
“Hey.”
Marinette let one side of her lips perk up into a half sort of smile.
“Hey,” she responded back softly.
“I thought you could use a ride?” She used her head to nod sideways towards the purple mini behind her.
“My knight and shining armor.”
The blonde smiled and chuckled, “I am dashing enough to be one.”
“You keep telling yourself that,” Marinette shoved her shoulder, her smile becoming genuine.
“I will,” the other girls voice followed as she walked around the back of the car to get to the passenger side.
She stopped short when she saw what her friend had done.
“Really, Steph?”
The amused tone of her voice showed that she wasn’t actually upset.
“Yeah, I thought we could head out to celebrate being single.”
“Because that’s something to celebrate now is it?”
Stephanie punched her lightly in the arm, “duh! Single people have the most fun. Everyone knows that!”
“Sure,” Marinette rolled her eyes with a giggle as she moved to climb into the car.
Steph joined her, taking her space in the driver's seat and looking over at her. Her eyes sparkled in the midday sun and her hair blew lightly in the calm breeze. She looked like an angel.
“Is that for me?” Marinette joked, pointing at the coffee sitting in the cup holders.
“It is!” She beamed brightly.
Marinette’s heart, for the first time, today felt lighter.
“Is this really all for me?”
Steph looked at her, her eyes softening and her shoulders relaxing, “of course. If you ever need me, I’ll be right here for you.”
Marinette nodded, blinking back more tears.
“Where to?”
Marinette tilted her head slightly in thought.
“Nowhere,” she decided on.
“Nowhere it is!” Her friend called out excitedly.
The music was cranked up to full blast as the windows were brought down so they were completely open. The blonde driving sped up to ten above the speed limit and they were off to who knows where.
And for once, Marinette decided she was fine with the unknown. Maybe things don’t work out the way she had planned but she was here and she will live in the moment.
Her eyes trailed back to the girl beside her, singing at the top of her lungs to a song that wasn’t even that good while her hair blew widely in the wind. Her music tastes were adequate at best. But she was goofy and fun and beautiful and…
And maybe, this wouldn’t be so bad after all.
She was with the person she wanted to spend her life with now. And that’s enough.

Can we see this: https://youtu.be/Nb7sgIAuECQ?si=w3auY1tDtEVJmDzB, but with the DC AU couples? Like Bat!Zoe and Static!Cosette, Bane!Ivan and Scarecrow!Mylene, Cat!Juleka and Ivy!Rose, etc?
Zoé: So… Cosette and I… We never imagined that we’d meet up and then eventually… Couple up.
Cosette: Our dads know each other. Justice League, and stuff, you know? But, we didn’t exactly meet through them. See, I was on a class trip to Gotham.
Zoé: Terrible idea.
Cosette: Aw, it worked out.
Zoé: It did. Anyway, the Hero Class- total accident, by the way- helped dad and me battle the Joker and his guys. And Cosette-
Cosette: Don’t! Please, no!
Zoé: *Giggles* Cosette saw the Joker pointing a gun at me, got in front of me, and yelled, “DON’T HURT HER!” But… It turns out- *Snickers*
Cosette: Don’t even!
Zoé: It was one of his ‘POW!’ guns! With the little flag? You know those ones.
Cosette: It was so embarrassing!
Zoé: It was sweet, and you were very brave.
Cosette: … Thank you.
Nathaniel: So, um... No one thought this would last. I’m a size-shifting villain who gets angrier as he grows, he’s an alien hero who’s able to fly when he thinks positive thoughts.
Marc: *Takes Nathaniel’s hand* But, we proved everyone wrong.
Nathaniel: As to how we met, I was robbing the bank, literally holding a few people hostage in my fist. And as I was tearing the vault door open, this one bursts in and ties a lamppost around my wrist like handcuffs
Marc: And after that, I kept stopping more of his crimes… Tell them why.
Nathaniel: *Blushing* Starlight, quit it.
Marc: Come on…
Nathaniel: … I wanted a reason to see and talk to you.
Marc: He even stopped right in the middle of causing some chaos downtown because Denise came instead of me. It was adorable! He eventually worked up the nerve to ask me out. And, baby, you didn’t have to commit all those crimes just to get me to notice you.
Nathaniel: Can you blame me? I couldn’t exactly talk to you during school hours with your friends watching my every move.
Marc: And yet, here we are.
Jesse: When I first laid eyes on Anthony, it was during the DC kids’ weekly Villains versus Heroes battle near the Eiffel Tower. All I wanted to do was belt a myriad of love songs to the heavens when I saw my dark angel!
Anthony: I talked him out of it. Though, I was surprised he picked me out of… Literally anyone. I mean, who wants a Demon for a boyfriend, you know?
Jesse: *Takes his hand* I do. And I always will, my love.
Anthony: You weren’t even the least bit terrified when you found out who my grandfather was?
Jesse: You mean Trigon? Enslaver of worlds? Devourer of a million souls? The most feared tyrant in the universe who could easily wipe out all existence as we know it?… Nope. Not at all.
Anthony: Aaw. *Kisses him on the cheek* You're sweet.
Jesse: Yes, and a bit terrified.
Alya: So, Nino and I had just been transferred to DuPont after the... Incidents at our last schools.
Nino: I was in the middle of conning a few idiots out of their lunch money when she walked by, her hair just smelling like lavender.
Alya: You got so distracted that you shifted into several forms until you were just this cluster of different people. It was a mess! And, frankly, kind of cute.
Nino: Only because I had Adrien's dimples, Kim's abs, and Chloé's aerobicized ass, right?
Alya: No, I meant it was cute how you got all flustered over me, idiot.
Nino: Well, who wouldn't? Now, here's the kicker. She asked me out by trapping me in an escape room for three days.
Alya: With food and water, of course. In the end, there was a riddle waiting for him, and he got it on the first go.
Nino: 'There is a fruit, so very sweet! From a palm, it's very neat! A yea or nay sometime today. Palm to palm is just the gate for the fruit is a-'
Alya/Nino: Date.
Denise: I first met Simon while trying to stop a bus full of passengers. The brakes just snapped, and it was going all over the road at top speed.
Simon: I was chasing after the bus, but, you know, I’m not strong enough to stop like a… What? A ton?
Denise: Twenty to thirty, actually. So, I’m flying by to help, and then this one- *Snickers* He flew into a stop sign the very second he saw me.
Simon: I was face to face with a literal goddex! A gorgeous one at that.
Denise: Aw, come on. After we managed to stop the bus and save everyone, we just started hanging out more, stopping the DC villain kids together, and one thing lead to another. We started dating.
Jean: I had just given the performance of a life time. I had gotten the usual red roses, but then someone tosses me a bouquet of green roses. Guess who it was.
Austin T: I think they know, dear.
Jean: *Giggles* Yeah. But, the first time we met officially was when I was helping Zoé stop Marinette and Adrien from releasing laughing gas out into the city.
Austin T: I lent some assistance.
Jean: He trapped them in a cage that his ring made, and I was like, “What sorcery is this?!” And he went, “No sorcery, just space tech. Hi, I’m Emerald Lantern.”
Austin T: If you think I’m about to choose the most predictable name, you have another thing coming. Anyway, he didn’t know I was the one who threw the green bouquet until he saw the cage.
Jean: I was swooning!
Austin T: It was adorable how his eyes lit up.
Rose: The first time we met, we were thirteen, and we tried to kill each other.
Juleka: Nah, you didn’t try to kill me; I tried to kill you. I thought she was stepping on my turf, trying to steal the stuff I was going to steal. Turns out, she was just poisoning a few guys down at some club who have been harassing some poor girl.
Rose: She’s okay now, but anyway, Juleka wanted in on the action, and scratched their faces!
Juleka: Respect women, idiots.
Rose: It was amazing! I had them tied up in my vines, and we both took turns beating them with her sack full of cash!
Juleka: I like to consider that our first date.
Rose: *Kisses her on the cheek* And what a date it was.
Ivan: I was bashing a corrupt official’s head against the pavement one night, after I found out he’d done unspeakable things to lycée students behind closed doors, when I saw her hollow eyes from across the street. I was then plagued with the grimmest of hallucinations of that prison. And after a dreadful ten minutes, I found the bastard of a man writhing and screaming as if he were in even more pain. I knew I wanted her to cull pathetic whelps like that man with me.
Myléne: He asked, then I gave him another dose of my fear toxin. When he snapped out of it and didn’t run away, that’s when I knew he was the one I wanted to spend my life with.
Brecken: Lemme tell ya, it ain’t all easy being a hero-villain couple. I always gotta act polite ‘n stuff when I’m around her hero pals.
Genevieve: And I must endure his friends’ brash behavior from time to time.
Brecken: Aw, you love ‘em!
Genevieve: Not as much as I love you… And, I guess your clones.
Brecken: Hoo, doggies! I love this gal! Anyway, as to how we met, so me and the fellas, as in my clones, were robbing the bank, and after we cleaned it out, we stopped for a bite as this great diner. And if you’re American, they got some great burgers there, makes you feel right at home!
Genevieve: As he was saying, he and his clones barged in as I was ordering. Seeing as we were in a public space, and we both had not eaten yet, the seven of us occupied a table, and just began to talk.
Brecken: I never seen the fellas so engaged. My darlin’s just got that something, you know?
Aurore: Uh, a little about us. My bio dad’s Aquaman, allowing me to breathe underwater and communicate with fish.
Mireille: My bio mom is Black Canary, and I inherited her sonic scream. It’s nice, but I gotta be careful not to scream when I get angry.
Aurore: She’s broken a lot of windows. So, as for how we got together. We were both new to DuPont, and got placed in the Hero Class. It was sort of a program made so we, as the second generation of heroes, could keep an eye on the Villain Class.
Mireille: They’re more chaotic neutral than chaotic evil, but we still keep tabs.
Aurore: Anyway, she had no idea who my dad was yet, so when she saw me at the bottom of the pool one day, she, without hesitation, jumped in, and brought me up for air.
Mireille: I was embarrassed.
Aurore: I was flattered, and I wouldn’t mind her saving me again. You know, from something that can actually kill me. The gesture was sweet, though.
Mireille: I got my favorite top wet.
Aurore: All in the name of love.

A World a Little Less Lonely
Adrien Agreste loves the Ladyblog, and he loves the Ladyblogger, Alya even more. She's the best: insightful, smart, clever, and most important of all, she's Nino's girlfriend. The problem is, she doesn't like him.
My entry for Adrien AUGreste 2023: Friends
Ao3 link. Series link.
It was no secret that Adrien loved Nino. Maybe not in the same way that he loved Ladybug. Adrien was pretty sure he’d never love anyone the same way he loved Ladybug, but Nino was his best friend . Sometimes, Nino felt like he was his only friend.
Which was crazy because he had Chloe…who sometimes got too busy hanging out with Sabrina to really want to spend time with Adrien. Or Marinette…who may or may not hate him. He wasn’t really sure about that one. Sometimes they would be fine together and have a great time, or other times she would suddenly get really scared of him and start saying a bunch of weird stuff like she was afraid he was about to eat her or something. Adrien supposed he had the guys, but if he was being honest, they really only hung out with him if it was a group outing…
Well, it didn’t matter. What mattered was that today, he and Nino were listening to some of Nino’s remixes together, just the two of them. It was nice, just being with Nino and knowing that he wanted to be with Adrien and only Adrien.
Adrien knew , in the same way he knew that Ladybug would always save the day, that if he ever said something or if he wanted to talk, Nino would pause the music and just…listen. Like Adrien mattered, like he really cared. It didn’t matter how emotional Adrien was or how crazy he was acting, Nino always had his back and he always had this way of making Adrien feel like he wasn’t crazy or out of control.
If Father had hurt Adrien’s feelings, Nino would say he was being unfair and way too hard on his best bro. If Adrien’s schedule was getting way too full, Nino would say that it was unreasonable and remind Adrien that he was a good kid, the best kid that Adrien knew. He told Adrien that he was responsible, even when Adrien knew he wasn’t being a good son. He told Adrien that he was good, even when he felt miserable. He told Adrien that he deserved to be happy, even when Adrien just felt so hollow, like he’d been eaten alive, and the thing was, when Nino said that stuff, a part of Adrien believed him.
Yes, Nino had an unreasonable hatred of Father. Yes, Nino didn’t quite understand all the things you had to do to be the face of the Agreste brand, to deserve that honor. But Nino made Adrien feel like it didn’t matter. Like the only thing that mattered about Adrien wasn’t his reputation, or his skills, or his smarts. It was just Adrien, and Nino loved him.
God, it was almost painful how much Nino loved Adrien, and all the ways he’d show Adrien. He’d show Adrien all of his movies. He’d tell Adrien all of the stuff that happened in his crazy, loving home. He’d tell Adrien all his little secrets, and when it was just him and Adrien, it was just him and Adrien. Nino never ignored him or kept on doing what he was doing without at least trying to let Adrien feel included.
Sometimes, though, it made Adrien feel a little guilty. Especially when Nino invited Adrien out on his dates with Alya.
Now, don’t get Adrien wrong. He loved Alya. You didn’t get to be the Ladyblog’s #1 fan without at least liking the Ladyblogger herself at least a little. He especially loved watching Alya and Nino get along. They were so adorably cute and in sync, and Adrien could only wish that one day, he and Ladybug would be this endearing if they got together.
It was just, he felt selfish. He knew Nino was only inviting him along because he liked the Ladyblog so much, and Alya was his girlfriend. Plus, Nino always wanted to include Adrien in his plans, but Adrien knew he was a third wheel, and well, he was pretty sure Alya didn’t like him.
Nino always insisted that she did, that it was Alya who was asking Nino to invite him to all sorts of things, but, if Adrien was being completely honest, he didn’t believe a word of that.
For starters, everytime that “Alya” invited Adrien, she would bring along Marinette or get super anxious whenever Marinette wasn’t around. It didn't matter what kind of outing it was or how late Marinette was, Alya always made them wait. Which, yeah, fine, Alya was just being a good friend, and Marinette did always struggle with her schedule. Except, Alya always kinda ignored Adrien whenever it was just the three of them, preferring to flirt with Nino constantly, and whenever Marinette was there, she always tried to get the two of them to talk to each other.
Now, Adrien knew that Marinette was Alya’s friend, and Alya had every right to flirt with, cuddle, and otherwise hang out with her boyfriend on their dates while leaving the non-lovebirds to hang out. He was fine with that, but Adrien wasn’t stupid.
Every time Adrien tried to bring up something on the Ladyblog to try to talk with Alya about, she always tried to get Marinette to answer him. Every. Single. Time. Marinette didn’t even like the Ladyblog that much! She only ever read the articles about Ladybug, Chat Noir, and their fights because she still had a massive crush on Chat Noir.
Which Adrien was not judging her on. He knew how hard it was to get over an unrequited crush. Both as the object of many of those crushes and his affections towards Ladybug.
But Adrien was very freaking certain that Marinette did not give a hoot about debating Adrien on the Ladyblog’s most recent post about the possible link between wish granting carp and Ladybugs. No. There was only one possible explanation. Alya was totally using Marinette as a social buffer. Probably to avoid making Nino sad when he asked if he could invite Adrien on outings.
Of course, that left Adrien in a pickle. On one hand, he was definitely interrupting a lot of date nights between Alya and Nino, which Adrien was sure violated several rules in the bro code, but Nino was the one inviting him, not Adrien. Adrien knew he was just being nice and thoughtful and caring, and Adrien could never turn down an opportunity to hang out with his best bro. He just couldn’t . Plus, if he did, he might hurt Nino’s feelings or worse, leave Marinette hanging. Still, if things kept going the way things always did, Alya would just keep resenting him more and more, and that drove Adrien crazy.
Then, one day, something unexpected happened. For some reason, both Adrien and Alya had arrived at their hang out, a nice little coffee shop before either Nino or Marinette. Together they went to a table for 4 to hold their missing’s friends’ seats while they waited.
They waited in silence for one minute. Then two. So, Adrien, deciding to finally get the chance to talk with the Ladyblogger herself, sans the costume, asked her opinion about one of her earliest articles: “A History of Ladybugs in Folklore Throughout the Ages”. It was a bit Euro-centric and had a lot of the flaws from her early work, but it had been fascinating, and Adrien wondered if she would ever revisit it.
Alya had hemmed and hawed before saying that she was kinda meh about it, but she thought that Marinette might have some pretty good thoughts about it. Marinette was very thoughtful and super interested in all that stuff and blah blah blah. Lies, lies, lies. At the same time that Alya was talking, she started texting on her phone, not even bothering to hide the fact that she was panic-texting Marinette asking where she was.
Finally, Adrien had enough. “Why don’t you like me?” he asked, quietly. “Did I say something wrong? Did I do something?” He froze as he realized something. “Are my comments too wordy?”
That got Alya’s attention. She put her phone down as she looked at Adrien, cocking her head and putting her hand on her hip. Her look of confusion almost seemed believable.
“Wait, what?” she asked. “Why would you think I don’t like you?”
Adrien gave her a small shrug. It was best not to start out by actually accusing someone. That just burned bridges, but it was usually a good strategy to start off being as quiet and meek as possible. People tended to like that. They liked to stay in conversations where they were the confident ones.
“You never really want to talk to me,” Adrien told her quietly, trying not to be overheard by one of the patrons. The last thing he’d want is a scene.
Alya rolled her eyes. “That’s ridiculous,” she said. “Of course I like talking to you. I’m talking to you now, aren’t I?”
Adrien knew he shouldn’t push it. This was Nino’s girlfriend. Whether Adrien wanted to admit it or not, she had been awfully generous in letting Adrien tag along on as many of her and Nino’s dates as she did. He was Adrien Agreste, the face of the Agreste brand, and he knew better than to let his insecurities get the better of him. Even if they were whispering at him that he needed to fix this, he needed to patch this up to get it under control. She was only a little cranky because he was a third wheel. That was all. He didn’t need to poke at it.
“You always want me to talk to Marinette instead,” Adrien told her, unable to stop himself from this inevitable train crash. Well great. Adrien must’ve been spending too much time as Chat Noir lately. Well, in for a penny, in for a pound.
“Even if I’m trying to talk to you about the Ladyblog,” he told her, holding firm, “there’s always something more important or some reason that I absolutely need to talk to Marinette instead.” He tightened his hands, feeling the bite of his fingernails digging into his palm as he dug deep for courage. “I know that it's probably annoying, having me tag along on so many dates. I get that. I can talk to Nino for you, if that’s a problem, have him stop inviting me so much so you guys can have your alone time.”
“What?” Alya said a little too loudly, drawing the attention of all the patrons around her. “No no no. I like you being here. I like you coming to these things. That’s why I keep asking Nino to invite you to these things. Didn’t he tell you that?”
Adrien blinked. “Wait, so Nino wasn’t lying about that? I thought he was pressuring you into letting me do this with you or something.”
Alya snorted. “Come on. You’ve met Nino. Do you really think that I would let him push me around? Trust me, if I didn’t want you here, you wouldn’t be here. End of story.”
Adrien thought about that for a moment, trying to understand what was going on, before he gave up, and asked, “Then why don’t you ever want to talk to me?”
Alya sighed in frustration. “It’s not that I don’t want to talk to you. It’s-” Alya groaned. “Look, it’s complicated, but really, part of it is that I think that you and Marinette, you two have a lot in common, and I was hoping that if you two got to know each other…”
Suddenly, Adrien had a realization. “Oh, you’re trying to make sure that Marinette and I become friends?”
Alya’s smile tightened. “Yeah, something like that,” she gritted out.
Adrien nodded sympathetically. It was no secret among the class that Marinette had social anxiety, and while it wasn’t as bad as Juleka’s, Adrien knew that she struggled with talking to people often. Then he realizes something. If Alya’s trying to help Marinette make friends with Adrien, does that mean that Nino’s trying to help Adrien extend out his own friend group?
“Is Nino helping you?” Adrien asks, even though he already knows the answer, because Nino’s just a good friend like that.
“Yeah,” Alya admits. “Nino’s helping me.”
“Nino’s the best,” Adrien tells Alya, as if she had somehow managed not to understand just how kind and awesome and amazing Nino was, as if anyone could miss how lucky they were to know Nino, his Father excluded of course.
“Of course he is,” Alya says, and the look in her eyes lets Adrien know that he’s found the one person in the world who might love Nino more than he does. As she leans in close like she’s whispering a secret, she asks, “Did he tell you about the special mixtape he made me?”
It doesn’t take long for a conversation to follow after that. Both of them trade stories about all the little ways Nino shows he cares and trade all the funny stories they have, and it’s not about the Ladyblog, but in a way it's something better, something kinder. Nino may have only intended to help Marinette and Adrien be friends, but Adrien thinks it's kinda poetic how he brought Alya and him together too.
It’s nice, Adrien thinks, to have a world that’s a little less lonely.

Determination - The *Official* Start of Reverse Love Square
Tumblr media
It’s here’s, it’s finally here!! Reverse love square is officially established by Adrien and Marinette themselves. Determination was such a wild ride. I’m still here trying to process everything that happened between the two of them.
Anyhow, I wanna break down what’s happening here and why their approach was good but also what I want to see moving forward.
What makes sense now
At first glance, it seems like they flipped the switch and made Marinette drop her feelings for Adrien and Adrien drop his feelings for Ladybug. But, this isn’t true.
In Jubilation - 1 episode before Determination- Adrien wanted to keep living a fantasy with Ladybug. And even in Determination, he still acted very sweet and loving towards her, with that look in his eye.
In Determination, Marinette still continues to act very nervous and giggly around Adrien. That’s something that has never changed. Yes, her feelings for him are getting pushed down and she’s doing a good job of no longer making plans to confess, but she’s still not over him. Notice how she even made an active effort to tell him that she’s not with Luka.
The whole change in dynamic is because these two can’t figure out how they have feelings for “two different people.” It’s a normalized thing to only be in love with one person (unless you’re poly, haha hi. I am.) and that loving two people at the same time is wrong. Almost like cheating in your mind. But, little to their knowledge, it’s not like that at all. They’re in love with the same person without knowing (duh).
Marinette cried looking at Cat Noir’s photo at the end of the episode. She’s finally accepting her feelings for Cat Noir and that’s not an easy thing to come to terms with. She’s had her heart so dead set on Adrien for such a long time. Now she’s finally realizing she screwed up, constantly denying her feelings for Cat Noir and hurting him despite feeling the same way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, take notice as to how they didn’t turn each other down. Marinette tried to turn the conversation around to be about Adrien being her friend and then ran off. Meanwhile, Cat Noir didn’t seem to realize Ladybug was making an effort to confess and was more focused on the Marinette situation in the moment (and the fact that they were about to detransform). Both valid reactions to have.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Additionally, Adrien got pressured by Kagami to tell Marinette how he feels, even though he wasn’t completely ready and still juggling his feelings between her and Ladybug. Same with Marinette, she got pressured by her friends to go talk to Adrien.
Although it’s not good to pressure your friends, I understand why they did it. It makes perfect sense. They’ve all known for the longest time how Adrien and Marinette feel about each other - it’s blatantly obvious. But, Adrien needs to tell Marinette when he feels ready to, not because he was pressured by Kagami into telling her. And, Marinette needs to sort out her feelings before turning down Adrien.
Marinette also needs to stop being in this ridiculous amount of denial of her feelings for Cat Noir. She’s toyed with him for a long time because of it and even lied about the dream sequence. However, it makes sense that she hinted at having feelings for him vs telling him directly - she’s not completely ready to, either. Also, it’s very much like Marinette to avoid confessing, as we’ve seen 20 something times with Adrien.
But, Marinette’s feelings for Cat Noir always seem to spark when he reassures her about things and offers a helping paw. For example, in Determination and Strikeback, he tells her she’s not alone. And, in Kuro Neko, he holds her hand and tells her he’s going to take care of her (even though he was playing his role as Cat Walker, she got real flirty with him.) It makes sense why she decided to try and confess when he did this again in Determination.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lastly, I am so proud of Marinette for realizing she’s more in love with the idea of Adrien and doesn’t know exactly what to expect if she went on an actual date with him. She of course has feelings for him and is closer to him than she was at the beginning of the series, but she still has so much to learn about him. I’m glad that she realized that and mentioned it to Luka. Man, wait until she starts to figure out he’s Cat Noir.
How the love square should progress
Don’t mind me being nit-picky here lol. It has been so long and these two have barely connected any dots. What I mean is that it’s supposed to be them falling for the two different sides of each other. That was implied as soon as signs of the reverse love square started appearing.
Maybe it’s going to start happening as season 5 progresses (I obviously can’t predict this yet), but I hope to see them start connecting dots that Marinette is Ladybug and Adrien is Cat Noir. I’ve always wanted this. Throughout the seasons, they should’ve had Marinette slowly start to realize “hey these are qualities Adrien has” with Cat Noir, and vice versa with Adrien realizing Marinette has similar qualities to Ladybug.
Take for example in Ephemeral - which mind you was less than a whole season ago - that Marinette couldn’t believe Adrien and Cat Noir were the same person after the reveal. It was super funny seeing her imagine Cat Noir everywhere, but upsetting how disappointed she was that Adrien is Cat Noir.
Sure, Adrien connected dots rather easily in both Chat Blanc and Ephemeral that Ladybug and Marinette are the same person, but it shouldn’t happen that quickly. It should gradually build up more and more over time. Noticing small things here and there. Then they sit down in their Thinking Chairs and think, putting the clues together lol.
I’d also like it if Marinette stopped suddenly drooling over Cat Noir the moment he offers help. It’d be adorable and make more sense to have her show all the qualities she likes about him. Like, in Jubilation and Truth, she makes it obvious she likes his silly jokes - have her laugh more at his jokes. And, maybe make her get really blushy and tongue-tied like she gets when she’s around Adrien. They’ve already done a really good job of making Adrien get all googly eyed around Marinette. More of that should happen in the Ladynoir dynamic.
Tumblr media
I’ve seen a season 5 spoiler of Marinette telling Adrien she doesn’t love him. I’d love to see the drama of her friends trying to figure out why she told him that and Alya being the one to figure out she’s fallen for Cat Noir too.
Also I’m really surprised by the fact that Adrien realized his feelings for Marinette after the embarrassing moment in Puppeteer 2?! He got so freaked out by her trying to kiss him, and even mentioned “the girl he loves” in their car ride home. Was not expecting that to be when he figured out his feelings for her.
Tumblr media
Conclusion
I don’t mind where the love square is at right now, but I think some aspects of it could be bettered moving forward. That’s pretty much it. Determination made me scream and I’m just ready to see these two finally date.

Clover Rants Miraculously
I think I’ve complained about this before, but MLB has a terrible habit of telling you to hate a characters instead of simply letting the dislike form naturally.
Like, take Chloe for example - it was easy to hate her in season 1 because she was being the stereotypical bully and causing Marinette (and the rest of the class and city) problems while acting in a way that earned negativity from the audience. There was no need for the show to go out of the way and make her hateable because she did that well enough on her own while making her an interesting and dynamic character. Then the season 3 finale happened, and it, along with season 4′s portrayal of her, her previous arc as a temp hero, and Thomas’s responses to (genuine and bad faith) questions about it on twitter saw a surge of Chloe defense because hell if Thomas and the writing crew were not determined to shout from the rooftops about how Chloe was the spawn of Satan with a pitchblack soul of coal and you had to think this too or else you likely ate puppies. Every scene she was in was basically the audience constantly being berated with “Hate Chloe Bourgeois or else!” signs while trying to enjoy the episode that just caused them to roll their eyes because really? The dumb blonde girl who’s entire modus operandus is “Threaten to call daddy mayor” is supposed to be seen as an utter monster who’s within the same ranks as the man who, in an alt-timeline, beat his son and then tried to brainwash him into being his magic servant to hurt his girlfriend (“Chat Blanc”)? I mean, outside of the near traincrash she caused as Queen Bee (Which they had her show remorse for, even if they didn’t handle the aftermath all that well) and her actions as Miracle Queen, Chloe is just an entitled bully with a superiority complex. Just get the girl some therapy and cut access to her credit cards and problem solved.
Felix’s entire intro episode is about how he’s such an awful conniving little brat in comparison to our beloved blonde angel Adrien - which he was, and we all loved him for it! and the fact that Thomas and co. didn’t want this just made everyone love him more out of spite. Probably helped that he absolutely seemed to revile Gabemoth and helped move along the Agreste side of the plotline by uncovering important secrets/lore Which should have been happening for our Deutagonist seeing as how this involves his father and mother but you know what let’s move on as well as him being based off the PV!Felix whom Thomas openly hated - so that just meant the fandom should definitely love him more and create thousands of AUs where he gets the Black Cat (or Butterfly) miraculous instead. (Of course, now that he’s on his way to redemption, he’s definitely going to head straight into base-breaking territory, though I feel the writers are just going to sour him on everyone if they play this the same way they did his intro)
Lila was fun to dislike and theorize about after her debut in Volpina - like, the amount of recurring villain Volpina, antihero!Lila, and Butterfly!Lila fanart I saw back then was immense. That’s how much of a splash she made. Then Thomas shuffled her off into the void and left her there for a majority of the show until “Heroes Day/Catalyst”, and when she finally got another focus episode (“Chameleon”), the entire thing spent so much time harping about what an awful and terrible liar she was and how “evil” it was to deceive everyone that people started hating her less for that and began hating the class and Bustier more for being stupid enough to fall for such obvious fibs (though in their defense, that’s more fault of the plot twisting itself into pretzel shapes so that Lila schemes can work when they really shouldn’t), and it worsened with “Ladybug” because everyone was so quick to turn on Marinette in it (and that the school apparently doesn’t have security cameras or bothered to call Lila’s mom considering her daughter was apparently assaulted on school grounds) that it just worsened the class salt the previously mentioned “Chameleon” brought upon. The final nail in the “Hate Lila or else” coffin ended up being the bible spoilers, which just made almost everyone stan her out of spite because when you have the show creators claim a lying teenage girl is more capable of greater evil than the magical emotionally manipulative terrorist, that tells me a lot of things except what you’re trying to claim.
Even Su Han, who isn’t a villain, is victim to this - he’s basically supposed to be representative of the fandom criticism of the show and Fu, who’s only purpose is to yell at Ladybug for “not doing guardianing right” before either being proven wrong (“Furious Fu” and “Ephemeral”) or admitting he’s the actual screw up (“Evolution”). Naturally, fandom responded by either making him the replacement mentor for Fu in their fics/AU that actually helps Maribug and Adrichat and proves a competent ally, or actually make him a decent opposing force.
Meanwhile, the characters they want the fandom to like are immediately hated because they’re just put off by how obvious they are about it - Poor Zoe was hyped to heaven and back, ultimately causing her to be immediately reviled by a lot of the fandom (mostly by those who were still bitter about losing out on Ally!Chloe) in her debut, and disliked even more when her temp hero episode had every character and their mother praising her on how nice she was and how she was so much better than icky Chloe. The constantly being told about how “good and pure” Emilie was despite being given nothing on her life before the Peacock miraculous and Gabriel has caused a number of people to create Evil!Emilie aus where she’s just as much of a self-centered megalomaniac as old Gabemoth. And Gabriel himself is basically the #1 hated villain not just because he’s, as stated, a magical emotionally manipulative terrorist, but also because the show is trying so hard to make him out to be this “sympathetic grey character” who “just loves his family” when he’s done nothing to show this (Hell, his actions the past 4-5 seasons basically showed the exact opposite), not to mention how inconsistent he seems to be with his goals and the lack of competence he’s shown despite apparently being so “smart and sophisticated” (Like my man, you had a time traveling miraculous and have one that can give you any superpower you want - Emilie should have been out of that magical cryocoffin and tap dancing right now)
tldr; Don’t “tell” your audience to hate a character. They can do it fine on their own.

-Damn, that contract is Disney evil.
-Now there’s Luka looking visibly distraught. Now this is what I wanted from silencer
-Monarch out here loving the pain and suffering
-Silencer 2.0 let’s go!
-So Monarch Can’t read minds, but he can read emotions, picking up that Luka was trying to hide the fact he knew who ladybug and chat noir are! Oh damn!
-He smashed the guitar! Well karma’s a bitch Luka. You lost a guitar over it (but probably not cause miracle cure)
-How did Bob create duplicates so quickly?!
-Monarch really said he be settling today.
-I like the 70’s skeevy record producer look with gold. It works for Bobs villain form
-Rip guitar. I guess that’s 1 consequence of his actions.
-OH DAMN! Julrose confirmed!?
-oh… she loves her friends. Okay that’s just lesBaiting.
-HE YEETED HER INTO SPACE!
-Luka getting everyone to hide but having Marinette hide somewhere else. Marinette seemed sus of it but didn’t complain.
-Luka was Hinting hard there.
-Juleka!
-Screw you bob, Juleka’s music was low key heat.
-THE Rubber DUCKY! Also Bob is right. That Ducky mix tape slapped
-He put it with his golden records. Amazing
-Mood chat noir
-Pigeon record was not a hit
-Luka revealed that He knows ladybug’s Marinette to ladybug.
-Marinette didn’t get it right away.
-THERE IT IS
-and she blames herself.
-Oh look at that he doesn’t get in trouble for when he blatantly lied to her about seeing the identities last season. WHAT A FUCKING SHOCK! (Sarcasm)
-so he got caught to distract him. So in other words they gambled that he wouldn’t blab in his heart’s song immediately.
-Bob Really thought ladybug and chat noir would protect him?! That’s amusing
- And here we have Luka being ‘Noble’ by saying he has to leave. (At least Adrien found out he knew)
- Jagged quitting the Rockstar life to be with his son. Juleka is in charge of kitty section.
-Price of blatantly lying about knowing ladybug’s identities. ( One Guitar, and a world trip)

4/10
If I ignored my bias probably 6/10.
I’m still mad Luka basically got off scot free. I was waiting for at least SOMEONE to yell at him. But no. We got nobody mad at him. He gets a hero sacrifice. And while this was Luka’s best season, he still has s*** to own up to. Aside from that the episode was entertaining but also kind of mid. Also I’m salty about the Julrose fake out.
That being said.
Bye blue boy.

Chat Blanc is probably one of the most disturbing episodes in all of MLB.
Let me preface this by saying disturbing doesn’t inherently mean bad. In fact, Chat Blanc is probably my favorite episode aside from Ephemeral.
Chat Blanc was exploited by his own father, who purposely traumatized him, and used Chat/Adrien’s pain against him.
Chat Blanc has the highest body count of any other Akumatized victim. He obliterated every single Parisian.
Nothing gives me more chills than this scene right here though
Tumblr media
I just… wow. His facial expression, his zero hesitation to use his power and throw Mari off the clifff. He literally submerged the entirety of Paris out of grief. He has to be one of the MOST terrifying villains
Not to mention, jumping back a bit, let’s visit this scene in the very start.
Tumblr media
This is the one that broke me. He was by himself for months. His only companion being the destruction that he caused, and his broken heart.
Now I know that people who are Akumatized aren’t really “themselves” but I fully believe that Chat Blanc wasn’t like other Akuma victims. Considering the person who was controlling him died, I think that he has a lot more free will than any other victims.
However, he’s pretty much insane at this point, but yet when Marinette, Ladybug, the love of his life comes out of a portal from the past, he still asks her to save him. Granted, his idea of “saving” is a little skewed. He even tells Mari/Ladybug that he didn’t mean to hurt everyone, and we even see him taking the cataclysm which DOES lead to the destruction of Paris. Even being Akumatized, he still tried not to bring harm to anyone but himself (Fu chose well)
It’s the episode that made me realize that neither Marinette not Adrien can truly be together until Hawk Moth is fully defeated, or isn’t a threat anymore. Or if they are, they can only be together as half of themselves. Never revealing either one identity or the other.
That little thought of mine was further cemented in Ephemeral. Because no matter what happens or how careful they are, Gabriel/AssMoth always ends up finding out, and Adrien ends up being hurt. I think this is something that Marinette realized with Chat Blanc, since she has no memory of what happened during Ephemeral.
Anyway, I’m sorry if this doesn’t make a ton of sense, I just wanted more Chat Blanc content on this app bc he literally deserves the world and someone PLS go hug him 🥺

do you have any reconnection fic recs? like , as in, ladybug and chat not talking to each other for years and then picking it back up? or adrien and marinette moving on with their lives and both unexpectedly meet?
love your work and thanks for all the other recs that you do ! 💗💗
Okay, so I don't have a lot of these because reconnection fics always make me so sad! The idea of them going years (or longer!!) being apart...there's just something so sad about that. Like, yes, they can be reunited, but they'll never get that lost time back. I can handle them not being together romantically, but being estranged just depresses me.
Having said that, I do have some recs for you, so I hope you enjoy them.
Persuasion by @inkycoffee
Of course, she probably wasn’t going to be there in person. And if she was, she may not even remember him. And if she did, she would probably throw him out without an interview.
She would be well within her rights.
He didn’t deserve to be in her presence.
Still, he hoped.
She was why he was back here, after all.
One-shot. I know I said this isn’t my favourite trope BUT this fic is a favourite of mine! The angst and yearning is just so exquisite, and Adrien trusting in Marinette’s heart to forgive him and give him another chance (though he’s not  expecting anything romantically) even after everything is just ahhhhh. The love surviving time and hurt just makes me crazy!
A little love by @hanaasbananas
He thought of those weeks visiting Marinette on her balcony, cultivating a friendship as she built a place for herself in his heart. He thought of Ladybug, his partner who had been beside him through everything, who had waited for him even when it was clear he would not return. How, of all the cafes in Paris, Marinette had chosen to walk into his.
Multi-chapter. This is one where Adrien never went to school (though he still had a friendship with Marinette as Chat Noir) and, after Hawkmoth’s defeat and reveal, Adrien understandably withdraws from pretty much everyone, including Marinette and Ladybug. And then she comes back into his life and it’s beautiful and bittersweet and messy and wonderful.
Strangers in the Bright Lights by poodles
Adrien is about two drinks in when he sees a girl at the end of the bar wearing black cat ears. It's kind of weird, so he watches her, and although it's crowded he can see her face when she turns around. She’s wearing a Chat Noir mask. He takes a quick look around- nobody else is wearing a mask. Just her.
Adrien finishes his gin martini and heads over to her. He could use some company tonight anyways, he hasn’t told anyone he’s back in Paris and Nathalie won’t arrive in town for another month. And it’s been a rough day, okay? A rough move! He’s not sure he wants to be back yet, and he spent most of the day in the Agreste mansion sorting through some photographs of his father he found in the study. Maybe he wants a drink and some stranger to tell him he’s pretty! That’s not a crime, is it?
One-shot. I think everyone’s read this one already? But it’s a great reconnection fic where Adrien is attracted to Marinette/Ladybug even without knowing that she’s either because of course he is. And Marinette is so bitter at her partner’s abandoning her! And it all comes out and is messy but good. I loved it.
We’ll be together, always. by @emsylcatac
So here she was: twenty year old Marinette, breaking down over seeing a younger version of her partner. Pathetic. Adrien had also looked very shaken at the sight of Chat Noir and had immediately excused himself; she supposed it had to do with everything that had happened with his father being Hawkmoth and she couldn’t really blame him.
* * * * *
Or a younger Chat Noir hit by a time-traveling akuma helps Marinette to find back her partner, after he had told her that he needed a break from heroing two years before and had never come back.
Multi-chapter. Marinette never really got over her partner disappearing after they defeated Hawkmoth and then thanks to time traveling shenanigans he’s suddenly in front of her and all of her feelings come rushing to the surface and she’s so sad!! Emsy fixes it though.
Shattered Sunshine by @inkjackets
It's been five years since Ladybug and Chat Noir defeated Hawkmoth, since the superhero duo were last seen in Paris. Since Marinette had last laid eyes upon Adrien.
Until today.
Unresolved tensions, unchecked emotions, old yearnings rekindled and lit aflame by the scorching summer sun...
This was an afternoon that would change everything.
One-shot. This one is pretty unique in that it’s PRPR but there’s still this period of separation following Gabriel’s defeat and reveal. And then there’s a planned reunion and they actually get to talk through their feelings about the separation. It’s all done SO WELL and hurts in the best way. The ending is hopeful and perfect for the fic.

Baby, even on our worst nights (I'm into you), by @2manyfandoms2count
Based on Paramore's Still Into You, submitted by @team-leo-v
AO3 link; Post-Canon, Post-Hawkmoth Defeat, Aged-Up Character(s), Established Relationship, Emotional Hurt/Comfort, Anxiety, Nightmares, Adrien Agreste/Chat Noir Needs a Hug, Adrien Agreste/Chat Noir Gets a Hug, Angst with a Happy Ending
Summary:
A stormy night in Paris, six years after Hawkmoth’s defeat. Marinette and Adrien should be over all the butterflies, but they still haunt them, each in their own way.
Thankfully, they can always count on each other.
Fic written for the MWG’s August 2022 event.
-------------------------
The bedroom’s ceiling is white, void of any cracks.
Marinette could tell even without seeing it in the pitch dark of the night; she’d stared at it enough over the course of… Kwami, has it already been three years? she thought as she shifted from the edge of the bed to lie on her back. She sighed as she did so, the sound barely audible over the pitter-patter of the rain outside.
It was one of those nights. The nights when, no matter what she tried, there was just no going to sleep. The nights when it felt like she’d never be able to untie the knots in her stomach, in spite of how much experience she had with yarn.
A flash of lightning illuminated the room.
Still no cracks, she noted, the fact oddly relieving, making her forget about her nerves for a second.
Strangely, or so some people could’ve said, it wasn’t the thunderstorm that bothered her; if anything, she’d always found them to be quite soothing. After all, a lot of memorable things had happened to her in the rain, and — even when it had felt like pathetic fallacy — there’d always been something bright to hang onto. A single, beautiful, ray of sunshine.
Next to her, Adrien mumbled and shifted in his sleep. She rolled to her side to face him.
A frown was creasing his perfect (in her humble, totally unbiased opinion) forehead. His breathing was accelerating, as, she was sure, was his pulse, sounding more like gasps than proper breaths. A drop of sweat rolled down his face from his right temple.
Marinette immediately scooted closer, her hand seeking his. Upon contact, his fingers retreated briefly, as if he’d been burned. Then he gripped her hand like his life depended on it, and something told her that it probably did.
She winced at the tightness of his grasp, which squeezed her fingers together uncomfortably, and gently loosened his hold on her with her free hand. She grimaced apologetically through the process, even though he couldn’t see it; she loved the man sleeping next to her with all her heart, but she wasn’t ready to lose body parts for him over a nightmare. She adjusted their hands so their fingers were interlocked, brought them to her lips, and wrapped herself around him in a tight hug.
“I’m here, mon chaton,” she whispered. “You and me against the world.”
While Adrien had always been able to sleep through his anxiety attacks, she could never sleep a wink; somehow they were always hit at the same time, suffering through the night together. The famous— no, legendary, Ladybug and Chat Noir sync, still at play ten years later. Marinette’s lips tugged into a gentle smile at the thought, lovingly stroking her boyfriend’s hair. Surviving six years of relationship, including three of living together.
Six years. Six years of freedom. Six years of clear skies. Six years of dreams and fairytale love.
But also six years of getting back up. Six years of judgement. Six years of nightmares and sleepless nights.
All because of one fateful day.
Marinette didn’t need to be a mind reader to know exactly what had Adrien whimpering in his sleep, breaking her heart as tears rolled down his cheeks and he incoherently pleaded to someone she couldn’t see. She’d been there with him in the crypt. She’d seen the scene play out in front of her very eyes.
The day they’d discovered that it had been Gabriel Agreste, of all people, who’d been terrorising their city. Who’d relentlessly pursued them for years, stealing their teenage years instead of their magical jewellery.
The day they’d discovered Emilie’s body in the crypt of the Agreste Mansion. What little of Adrien’s world still remained standing had crumbled right there and then, under the pouring rain.
Ladybug, Chat Noir and the weather had barged in from above, cornering Hawkmoth against the closed coffin after days of hiding. It was Chat Noir who’d rushed to rip off the brooch from Hawkmoth’s chest, freezing when the magic receded around Gabriel. Marinette wasn’t entirely sure what had happened then, if Gabriel had guessed who Chat Noir was, if it’d been a gamble, a simple distraction, or even an accident, but the coffin had opened. After a second of Chat Noir’s eyes darting between it and Gabriel, his legs wobbling beneath him, he’d finally collapsed to his knees.
That was when Ladybug had connected the dots.
Gabriel had lunged at his motionless son, reaching for a Miraculous, any Miraculous. He’d snatched the brooch, but Ladybug had sent it flying into the depth of the crypt, landing a good punch on his cheek. Her glare had been icy when Gabriel looked up at her, and his initially outraged expression quickly changed into fear. Ladybug’s anger had increased tenfold, giving her the ability to tie him up and throw him in a corner of the crypt.
Through all of it, Adrien hadn’t moved. She wasn’t sure she’d even seen him breathe at all until the police had arrived. He’d just stared emptily at his mother’s lifeless body, the rain plastering his blond locks to his forehead, mixing with the tears on his cheeks.
Had she not known any better, she would’ve snatched her partner’s ring and wished for a new reality where he’d been born into a loving family. She’d refrained to act on her impulse and resorted to watching the bizarrely breathtaking picture of the Agreste family, not daring to disturb the moment of grief. Adrien clearly needed it, and he deserved it.
In her quiet contemplation, the Butterfly brooch remained where it had landed.
When the special forces had arrived, she’d helped the hull of her best friend, her partner, the boy she loved, up, holding his hand as they watched his father get carried away. She hadn’t let go when the police had offered them a ride home. She’d promised herself that she wouldn’t ever let go of him again, if he’d let her.
“Adrien,” she’d whispered in his ear after their driver had turned on the radio.
Chat Noir had started and looked at her with wide eyes. She’d squeezed his hand and given him a small smile.
“I know this might not be the best time, but… I love you.”
She’d heard Chat Noir’s breath catch in his throat, and decided to hug him with her free arm, the other one still clutching his hand.
“You don’t have to say anything back,” she’d continued, the hair above his ear tickling the bridge of her nose. “But I thought you should know.”
She hadn’t realised how tense his shoulders had been until he’d let his chin rest on her shoulder, and he’d wrapped his arm around her waist. It was like his muscles were melting under her fingers, and yet it felt to her as if he’d fly away if she let go.
“I love you too, my Lady,” he’d mumbled in her hair, his voice thick with emotion.
She wasn’t sure what she’d expected would happen next; maybe that he’d collapse again, this time in the safety of her arms. Maybe that he’d just hold her tighter. Or maybe, just maybe, that he’d kiss her.
What she hadn’t expected was that the radio host would announce Station’s Holiday Camp, and that it would have Adrien snap to attention. He had looked at her with wide eyes and a disbelieving grin, before leaning between the two front seats to ask the police officers to turn the volume up.
Then he’d started singing with all his heart, and Marinette couldn’t help but join in. They’d sung together for the rest of the song, fingers still interlocked; they’d remained that way through the officers dropping them off in a random street Ladybug had named off the top of her head, the walk back to her house, dinner, and they would have stayed that way all night, had Sabine not insisted that Adrien and Marinette both needed a shower, and obviously a separate one.
By the time they were both in night clothes (Adrien floating in a t-shirt Tom had lent him), both heroes were too tired to think beyond crashing somewhere resembling a bed. Marinette had made it up her mezzanine, while Adrien had stumbled onto her sofa. They might not have been in physical contact anymore, but it hadn’t mattered. They were together, and knew they wouldn’t ever willingly be apart again.
They hadn’t had nightmares that night.
In the morning, they’d discovered that nobody had found the Butterfly Miraculous in the Agreste crypt after Gabriel’s arrest. Or, rather, nobody with good intentions; soon after, a new villain had stepped out of the shadows. They’d managed to get a hold of them after some time, but the Miraculous had already changed hands again. When they’d finally retrieved it, it was the Peacock Miraculous that had gone missing. And so on, and so forth, for six, long, years.
Beyond their bad nights and constant quest to regain the Miraculouses, things hadn’t been a walk in the park. Ladybug and Chat Noir had promised the Parisians that they’d reveal their identities when the full Miraculous roster was back inside the Miracle Box, and that the latter was safely in Ladybug’s possession. Only their closest friends and family knew their secrets.
The rest of the city remained oblivious, but had learned about Adrien and Marinette’s relationship through a tabloid, a few days after Hawkmoth’s defeat had been announced. Marinette couldn’t count the number of anonymous letters she’d received over the years, judging her for dating the son of a terrorist, the number of articles that had been written about her relationship, “offering her a way out if she was trapped in it”, calling her a traitor for associating with “the enemy”. And that wasn't counting the piles of mail that she knew were gathering inside the Agreste mansion. Seeing Adrien painted as a villain had made her want to scream.
And yet, every time, Adrien had gently closed the offending browser tabs, pried the paper out of her hands, and hugged her as she cried her bitter tears, wondering if they shouldn’t throw caution to the wind and just reveal their identities to the world. To make Adrien’s pain, although he hid it well, go away.
“As long as you're by my side, I don't care if it doesn't make sense to them,” he whispered. “It's you and me against the world.”
“Always,” Marinette vowed back.
Adrien whimpered again in his sleep; Marinette kissed his sweaty forehead.
Everything they'd faced, and everything they were still facing, could have frayed their relationship, inching them closer to a breaking point. It would have, for most people.
Yet, it seemed to Marinette that it kept bringing them closer. In her darkest hours, it was only when Adrien was near her that she knew she'd be alright, and she had an inkling it was a reciprocated feeling.
Their relationship went beyond mere reassurance and safety, though. Their bad nights were the worst part of their relationship, that much was true, but the rest was so good. Every morning, her heart swelled as their eyes met for yet another day. She couldn’t get enough of his jokes, of the butterflies she felt when she heard his laugh. Of all the trivia he’d collected kwami-knew-where. Of the enthusiasm at every new project their loved ones would talk about. Of the way his hand always found hers when they walked side by side.
Marinette loved Adrien; more than anything in the world.
She told him, often, but in the middle of the storm that night, she found that she needed to extricate him from his disturbed sleep to tell him again, and to go a step further.
“Adrien,” she said gently, wiping a tear off of his cheek and combing his hair back with her fingers.
His features relaxed a little. Kwami, he’s so perfect.
“My love,” she repeated slightly louder.
Adrien’s eyes fluttered open as he took a deep, shaky breath.
“Marinette? Oh, I’m sorry,” he sniffled. “Did I wake you because I was crying again?”
Marinette couldn’t tell if her heart broke or melted at the question, or both at the same time. Leave it to him to put her feelings above his own.
“Of course not, Chaton.” She kissed his forehead. “I just wanted to make sure you knew that I love you.”
Adrien’s lips pulled into a wobbly smile, and he pulled her closer. “You always know exactly what to say, my Lady,” he mumbled against her cheek.
“I also had a fairly urgent question,” Marinette said in a contented sigh.
“One that couldn’t wait until morning? I’m all ears, love.” He stroked the back of her hand with his thumb.
Marinette took a deep breath.
“Will you marry me?”

Wish come True - Adrien AUGreste Day 29, 30 + 31
We’re here, at the end! I can’t believe we’re actually here. First, a massive thank you to @etherealxgenie who took time out of her day to edit my mess of chapters. Seriously, I would of ended up with a lot of comments pointing out my mistakes without you. You guys should definitly go check out her blog, as she’s an amazing artists and if you love Monster High, Yugioh, Bettlejuice and the like, you’ll get along great. Also thanks to all of you who have followed the story along. I do have the urge to do a side story following Luka and Juleka around during their first years as Scarlet Bug and Catseye, so if you’re interested, be on the lookout. New Beginning
Staring up at the stars, Adrien’s tail curled up tall behind him. After apologizing for another round when Scarlet Bug got up, the older hero invited him to take a moment and relax.
“That way, you don’t get distracted again and go crashing into something else.” He teased.
“So, night patrols are normal?” Adrien asked to fill the calm silence.
“Yeah. Not every night though. My life would be fine with a late start but not Cats’. huh, guess I’m going to need to figure out another nickname for her.” Scarlet mused. “Until you and the other holders are used to this, we’ll do it in groups and then later we’ll split up into pairs. Right now, it’s just 6 of us as the main group and others will be back up. I’ll give you all the whole breakdown next patrol. Plagg will let you know the date. You’ll meet the others then.”
Adrien nodded, sighing a little. That freedom feeling wasn’t getting smaller which was good, but hearing the responsibilities along with saving Paris made him a little nervous. “This won’t…strain relationships, right? I mean, other than keeping the large secret which would hurt them if they knew. I mean, like missed dates or vague excuses, things like that.”
“I mean, I guess. But I think as long as your as open as you can be. If you mention getting a new job, no one’s going to question that much. It is to protect them so, it’s not so bad if you think of it that way.” Scarlet reassured.
“I guess I’m just worried. My boyfriend told me he loved me today and I couldn’t say it back. It’s not that I don’t want to. I absolutely do. I do feel the same, it’s just, hard to say the words. I wouldn’t want my constant disappearances to be taken that him telling me that scared me off.” As Scarlet’s gesture, Adrien continued. “To not overload you, my parents aren’t together and their fights were pretty bad. It started a lot when I was pretty young and I used to tell them before they’d go storming off to work angry at each other, that they had to say ‘I love you’. when I later realised what I was doing to my parents, all I could think about was how I poisoned those words on a deeper level. I mean the intention behind them but saying the words make feel slightly sick, even though I want to say it.”
“My family…” Scarlet hesitated for a moment before continuing, “my mom will always blame herself for believing my father. He didn’t stick around past 2 years old but he made my mom think he would because he’d constantly tell her he loved her. After, she found different ways to tell us she loved us. So don’t rush to tell him because you think that’s what he wants to hear. If he’s like me, maybe he said it because it felt like you were the first person, he could say it to that wasn’t family.”
Adrien felt his face getting flush, his ears folding back and his tail starting to wrap around him. He didn’t know if Luka’s family was like that, but it felt right. You could tell they loved each other without them saying it just based on their actions.
“You’re cu – I-I mean, y-you must really love him then.” Scarlet stuttered out.
“I do. The way I feel about him, I’ve never felt about anyone before.”
Scarlet’s smile grew soft, as if hearing the words about love made him happy in a way those in love could describe. “I wouldn’t worry. You aren’t your parents and even if it seems to be starting the same, you could have a whole new story. A whole new beginning.”
                                             __________________
Adrien zipped the clear side of his itabag, showing off the Mermaid Melody pins and charms he had. He was tempted to text a picture to Luka to see if he could name the princesses or if it would send him on another rant about how much Luchia went through for one guy. The rant would be hilarious to watch in person, so he put it off for now.
“Caro, if you want a ride to school, we need to leave now!” his mother called from the kitchen.
“Coming!” he looked to where Plagg had made himself at him amongst his plushes that sat in their hammock. “You’d better not spill cheese over there.”
“Relax, I can be clean.” Plagg said, stuffing his face with a small brick of Parmesan cheese. He’d begged for camembert the night before after getting back but Adrien told him he was more likely to get Italian chesses in the house. He was nervous about what he’d do when he and his mom would make mozzarella. If those disappeared overnight, that was going to be hard to explain.
Pulling on his shoes, Adrien looked at himself in the mirror. He didn’t look any different, minus the new silver ring with an emerald inland band sitting under his couple ring. His oversized letterman jacket and joggers didn’t look at all out of place. But he was different.
He was staying in France. For the first time ever, his mother was given an assignment that lasted more than a few months. He had friends, actual real friends, he was dating someone who loved him – just thinking it still made him red - and he was beyond happy. And he was a hero? This was a new beginning, a new chapter in his life and he was excited to see where it took him.
“Adrien!”
“Be right there!” Adrien called again, picking up his bag and holding the flap open so Plagg could fly in. With one last look at his reflection, he ran out of the room and followed his mom out the door.
They stopped for croissants on the way over, at the same patisserie they’d gone to on Adrien’s first day of school. It felt oddly fitting, even if he now preferred Tom’s croissants.
“How are you feeling? You must be excited to tell your friends.”
Nodding, Adrien smiled around his food. “I am. Paris is different from other places we’ve stayed at. It feels like how Italy feels when we go back. It feels like home. I don’t think I can say that about the other places.”
Viola smiled at her son, ruffling his hair. She giggled when he yelped and complained about messing it up. She wasn’t blind to how open Adrien was to living in Paris. He’d gotten into his routines in the other places, making quick acquaintances, very few friends and distracting himself with exploring places and foods. She was happy that he preferred spending time with her when she could but something about seeing Adrien run out the door to go meet friends, either to dress up and take pictures, play music with or just hang out made her feel at peace. He was right, Paris was starting to feel like home.
They pulled up in front of the school where Adrien’s friends were waiting. With a quick kiss on his mother’s cheek, Adrien burst out from the car, unable to help himself.
“I’m staying!” he cried. Once his words registered, they were cheering. Nino led the group hug, nearly knocking Adrien over when he ran into him.
“This is amazing! I can’t believe you get to stay! Is your mom as well?” Marinette asked.
“Both of us, one year for now, longer depending on the Hawkmoth situation.”
“Dude, that means you get to graduate college with us and head to lycée together! we already know everyone’s attending the lycée down the street, maybe we’ll be in the same class too.” Nino gushed.
“Easy babe. Let’s just get through the rest of this year first.” Alya reminded. “Besides, someone else wants to congratulate him.” She teased, pulling Adrien from Nino’s grip and pointing him to Luka.
The guitar player stood at the edge of the group, smiling at him. He didn’t look very surprised with Adrien’s announcement but still looked very happy.
“Hi.” Adrien greeted. He couldn’t keep his own smile off his face, which threatened to get bigger when he remembered what Luka had told him. With what he and Scarlet discussed the night before, he wasn’t pressuring himself nearly as much to say it back. Luka said he was fine waiting, so he hoped he’d also be fine once he explained his reasonings.
“Hi.” Luka wrapped his hands around his waist, tugging him closer to kiss him.
Hearing the cat calls from his friends, Adrien flipped him off with one hand, using his other to tug Luka closer. He was never going to get tired of this.
“How rude!” Alya cried, sounding like Stephanie Tanner.
“I spend the whole school day with you guys! Go away!” Adrien ordered over his shoulder, having to pull away. Luka laughed at him as Adrien and the others exchanged more teasing remarks before Marinette pushed them inside.
“Before he releases his Italian anger on us. Kim, you remember how that feels right?”
“Oh, shut up!”
Adrien turned back to Luka, both sharing looks. “Hi.”
“Hi. I hear I get to keep you for longer.”
“You do.” Adrien nodded, playing with the edges of Luka’s jacket. “You’re stuck with me for a year.”
“I’m perfectly fine with that. Just a warning, I did think I could have lost you, so I’m going to be kinda clingy for a while.”
Uncaring if Luka was joking or not, Adrien laughed. “Um, before you think I forgot about what you said yesterday. I didn’t and I don’t want you to think I don’t feel the same. You’re right, its really quick and my dad’s already planning a speech and questions to make sure we’re serious about this, but I also know I’ve never really felt this way about anyone. I want to tell you those words, but I sort of realised saying those words in a relationship is scary to me, regardless of how I feel thanks to me messing up when my parents were fighting before the divorce. What the words mean, all the emotions that go with it, I do feel those for you. it’s just gonna take a while to say it out loud.”
“Hey,” Luka reassured, squeezing Adrien’s waist, “like I said, I’m not gonna rush you for an answer, or I guess in this case a reply. Mamman, Juls and I don’t say the words to each other very much, we say different things. So, I get it. My feelings aren’t changing anytime soon, I promise.”
Adrien felt like he could breathe. “Good. That’s good.” He stuttered out, face flushing as Luka laughed at him.
“You’re cute. Your heart song is singing so loud. I think this melody it’s playing might be my new favourite.”
Flustered, Adrien hid himself in Luka’s neck, making the taller boy laugh at him as he squeezed him tight. They didn’t seem to notice Tikki and Plagg laughing at them from their hiding spots.
Much later into the night, Adrien stood on the same level he and Scarlet Bug fought Glitter Queen. With Scarlet Bug and Tigresse Poupre standing in front of them, they looked like true leaders. Even though it seemed that the Cat and Ladybug where always together – thanks to Alya’s hero project she still wouldn’t drop – he was perfectly fine letting to former Catseye led them. he glanced at the others, taking them in. Rena Rouge, Queen Bee and Caprise were replaced with new holders, unless they look a page out of Scarlet’s book and had their transformation mess with their hair as well.
“Why don’t you guys introduce yourselves?”  Tigresse suggested.
The fox straightened her back, letting her blonde ginger hair strands fall around her face as her hair was pulled into twin buns just in front of her fox ears. Her costume was reminiscent of Zatanna’s, except with shorts instead of a straight leotard. The tails on her coat seemed to have a mind of its own as they twitched. Holding her flute tightly as she lifted her chin, she spoke, “I’m Vixen, holder of the Fox.”
“Venom, holder of the Bee.” While a much darker red, Venom’s long bangs were clipped back with a honeycomb pin, which had five of them in a cluster. His costume was similar to Tigresse’s in terms of a body suit and covered in honeycombs of black and yellow. Oddly enough, whenever he moved, the pattern seemed to change.
The Turtle holder seemed shy, ducking into the collar of his suit. It was tall and wide, allowing him to comfortably hide his face, much like an actual turtle. The shield was attached the way Captain America would wear his and it had sharp ridges much like a snapping turtle’s shell. Strangely, his gloves were half palm gloves, exposing his wrists before it followed his dark green sleeve. “Tarasq. The holder of the Turtle.”
Adrien tried giving him a kind smile when he glanced in his direction. It sort of worked, since he hadn’t ducked lower into his collar.
“I’m Bast Luck. I’m the new holder of the Cat.” Adrien introduced. Out of all, he was the most exposed with his crop top inspired by Black Lynx from Shugo Chara. Unlike Ikuto, he didn’t have the high collar or arm warmers, instead a choker with a bell and fingerless gloves. He also had an underlayer of black in his hair.
“And you all know the former Catseye, Tigresse Poupre and me, Scarlet Bug. So, thanks to the last fight we had with Hawkmoth and his akuma Catalyst, we were at risk. We decided a long time ago if that were to happen, we’d pass along the Miraculous to new holders. You guys won’t have to return your Miraculous as you’re permeant holders now and we’ll need you whenever there’s an akuma. The previous holders will get new Miraculous and come when needed. The hope is that there aren’t times we need more than 5, but it would be wrong to trick you into thinking everything is ok. Hawkmoth knows we have the Miraculous and he won’t stop until he gets his hands on them. our job is much harder so I need to know, are you guys really ready for this?” Scarlet Bug asked seriously.
The four looked at each other. They didn’t know each other and had yet to work together but they knew this. they were going to need each other to help win the fight. They all nodded, voicing their agreement. Like pure timing, there was an explosion in the direction of the Louvre.
“Right then. Team Miraculous, let’s go!”
                               __________________________
“Scarlet Bug came onto the scene today with both a new look and a few new friends. During an akuma attack today, Scarlet Bug arrived without Catseye but a few new others. There have been times where the two heroes have new friends join them but these were completely new heroes. Based off of witness testimonies, they’re names are Vixen, Venom, Tarasq and Bast Luck, who seems to of taken the place of Catseye. There was also the reappearance of Tigresse Poupre. There’s already debate online that she’s actually Catseye but with a different persona. They mentioned the way she acts and interacts with Scarlet Bug was much too similar but only time will tell. With the appearance of Hawkmoth just days ago, I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say we hope these heroes can help end the battle.” Alya explained in her video posted to her renamed blog, Miracublog – Home for all things of the heroes of Paris!
Lila screeching, throwing her iPad to the floor. The video of the fight still played, sounds of fighting and magic spilling from the speakers. She ignored it as she paced, stomping her feet to the ground. That fight Hawkmoth was spotted at, Chloe had been responsible for that. She turned on the heroes. But there was nothing! And now everyone was different and her idea of who could be who was further from reach. Her father was no help, refusing to answer any questions she had about it or just never picking up. Nathalie was also unhelpful, reminding her she was at this school to learn.
Screw learning, she wanted power! She could have gotten it; she know she could of but somehow everyone knew. This school was full of the uber rich, richer than Adrien had once been and she knew how to work these people. She would practise her skills on the unsuspecting rich at the schools she was sent to when she had the Rossi name. whenever she was found out, she’d make a fuss and her mother would ask to be reassigned. She’d report anyone who spoke against her online. She could hide her tracks.
But if word got out before she even arrived?
She was sure it was Tomoe getting her family to spill secrets. Even if she’d heard words of students visiting France, where she couldn’t hide her lies. Not only was she struggling to keep up just with the speed of English everyone spoke, but no one wanted to be around her. They were actively bullying her. Scribbles on her desk to get out of their school, her clothes and uniform missing, getting in trouble with teachers for fake altercations. And she couldn’t do anything! The first time she did, Gabriel called and told her if she made an embarrassment of him out of France, he’d send her to be homeschooled in Japan, not allowing her to see anyone except her teachers and her caretakers from the Tsurugi family. And damn it she believed him. This couldn’t be how Adrien was treated, there was no way.
(But she couldn’t stop thinking about little instances that made it so obvious to anyone watching. But she hadn’t cared, not when all she saw was what he had in spite of it.)
She won. She made the Wish. She got what she wanted. She still hated her life. She was utterly alone with no one on her side. She…she didn’t know how to get out of this situation.
She didn’t know Adrien regained the Cat Miraculous. She didn’t realise that her life, lived the way he was gave him the best possible life. She didn’t know her Wish was Adrien’s wish come true.
Because all he wished for, was to be happy.

Bulletin Board
Sorry I missed yesterday’s chapter! I got reallly busy! On the plus side, you get two chapters from me :). I hope you like this bit of post-reveal, post-relationship too :D
AO3
A breath of shock left her parted lips as she trailed a gloved hand along her bulletin board. Turning around, she blinked at the boy who was staring at her with a desperate sadness that she just didn’t understand. Shifting uncomfortably, she gestured back at the pictures littered all across the board. “S-so you’re telling me that this was... is us?”
“Yes...,” the boy wheezed out, looking pained. She felt her heart squeeze in her chest but she didn’t understand the reaction. It was almost like it knew something she didn’t. Because she didn’t know him. She could barely even recall his name. She closed her eyes shut tight for a brief moment, recalling that he called himself Adrien before literally whisking her up to her room.
The boy... Adrien had been clutching her to him almost desperately when she had finally blinked awake in the abandoned corner that they were in. She shrieked, jumping back in shock because she didn’t know him. Why was he holding onto her?! And why was she in the weirdest costume ever made?! None of this made any sense... because the last memory that Marinette had was getting home from her first day back at school. So how had she ended up here with some guy she didn’t even know?
“Ladybug?” Adrien had asked uncertainly, taking a step towards her.
She frowned in confusion at the words. Ladybugs...? Where? She had blinked around the park uncertainly, trying to understand what he was talking about. Seeing nothing, she finally asked, “I-I’m sorry but who are you? A-and do you know why I’m dressed like this? Is there a costume party going on or something?”
His face had fallen and, for some reason, she felt her heart fall along with it. Feeling uncomfortable at the reaction, she had taken another step back away from him.
Hurt raced across his features and he looked as though he was going to reach out to her before he stopped, pulling himself back. Adrien had then run a hand through his hair, blowing out a harsh breath. “You don’t know me at all, do you?”
She had cleared her throat, scanning his face for anything that she recognized. There was nothing. Wait... squinting her eyes, she stared resolutely into his green ones. With clear recognition, she snapped her fingers, ignoring the hopeful expression that had spread along him. “Wait! I do know you! I’ve seen you before on Gabriel Agreste’s posters! You’re his son, right?”
His hopeful expression shattered and Marinette was confused once more. What else had he been expecting? Shifting uncomfortably again, she made a move to get out of the cramped corner that they were in, just wanting to go home and take off this ridiculous costume. Maybe her parents would know what was wrong.
“Wait!” His arm reached out, holding her gently in place. Oddly, a weird burst of electricity shot up her arm from where he held her. Even with the costume on. She had yanked her arm back, staring up at him incredulously. Adrien had then given her a sheepish grin, scratching the back of his neck before mumbling, “Sorry.”
“Listen... I-I don’t know what’s going on but I’d really like to get home. It was lovely meeting you, M. Agreste bu-,”
“Adrien,” he cut her off, his sheepish grin replaced with a look of almost brave determination. “My name’s Adrien.”
“Okay,” she dragged out. “It was lovely meeting you, Adrien. But like I said I really need to get home.”
Taking a step forward again, Marinette just wanted to get home and take a long nap. Maybe after she woke up, she’d realize that meeting the son of her favorite fashion designer was just one big, crazy dream. After all, maybe that would explain the crazy costume that she was in.
“Wait!” Adrien cut her off again and she looked back at him with a huff. A small, grin formed on his face at her irritation before he moved a step closer to her. “Let me take you home.”
“You know where I live?” She frowned. Was he a stalker? That didn’t make sense. Why would a model be stalking her?
His lips parted, and his mouth gaped open and closed like a fish. After a while, his own brow furrowed. “I don’t know how to answer that without sounding creepy,” he murmured.
For some odd, unexplained reason, Marinette giggled. She didn’t really know why she was laughing. That statement probably should have terrified her. But, somehow, she wasn’t scared. Confused? Yes, definitely. But not scared. Adrien had blinked at her in surprise before he was laughing too, giggling right along with her.
After she had taken a deep breath and gotten herself under control, she was surprised to find that Adrien was now holding a yo-yo in his hands. And, weirdly enough, it matched her red-and-black-polka-dotted costume perfectly. Confusion once again taking over her mirth, she tilted her head at him. “Where did you get that?”
“Can you trust me just this once, Ladybug?” He held out his hand, staring at her with a pair of earnest, green eyes. “I-I just have something I need to show you.”
There was that word again. Ladybug. What was he even talking about? And Marinette shouldn’t trust him. She knew that. After all, this was her first time actually meeting him. And yet, for some reason, she did. Scolding herself already, she reluctantly took his hand. Once again, she felt warmth race up her arm from where Adrien was tightly holding onto her hand.
She squeaked in shock when he pulled her closer to him. Opening her mouth, she was about to ask him just what he was doing when she heard the whizz of a yo-yo fly through the air. Turning her head, she watched the string wrap tightly around a building’s chimney. Honestly, what was this boy doing? About to step away, Marinette squealed when he tugged on the string, sending them flying up into the air.
Shrieking, she buried her face into his side, certain that this was it. This was how she died. And what an unfortunate death too. How many times had her parents told her not to trust strangers? Why she had decided to listen to him was beyond her.
Yet, the crashing fall never came. In fact, the roaring wind which was, just a second ago, whipping around her, now fell down to a gentle breeze. Her feet touched down on solid ground and she breathed out a shaky sigh of relief. Shoving him away from her, she glared. “What on earth was tha-!”
Marinette’s shout fell short, though, when she took sight of her surroundings. They were on her balcony. How were they on her balcony? Choking out a gasp, she stared at him with a pair of wide eyes.
“Please, Ladybug.” Adrien pleaded, flinging open her trapdoor like he had done it a thousand times before. “I just need you to trust me one more time.”
Indignation and anger surged through her. With a strangled scream, she tugged harshly on her pigtails. “Who or what is Ladybug?! I don’t know who you are! I don’t know how you got me here! And I just want to take a nap before I go back to school so will you please just go and leave me alone!”
His lower lip wobbled as he looked up at her. Biting down harshly on her lower lip, she stuffed the apology that wanted to come out down. She didn’t know him! So why did she feel so bad about how hurt he looked? Standing firm, she crossed her arms against her chest.
With an angry huff as she once again spotted her red-and-black-polka-dotted arms, she flung them down before grumbling. “Alright, whatever! I don’t care! I’m going into my bedroom and I’m going to take this stupid costume off once and for all!”
Jumping down into her bedroom, Marinette was surprised when a light thud sounded from behind her. Whirling around, she met his nervous, yet almost hopeful, face. Why was he still following her? Opening her mouth, she was about to yell at him to leave when he gestured behind her. Feeling fury overwhelm her, she turned back around only to be greeted with her bulletin board staring directly at her.
All of her anger had disappeared then, leaving her where she was now. Trailing her fingers along pictures that Marinette didn’t remember putting up. Pictures that replaced the ones of her and her parents. Pictures of her laughing, hugging, and kissing the boy behind her.
“Marinette... Ladybug...” Adrien’s voice snapped her out of the confused fog that had settled around her. “Please tell me that you remember me now. That you remember us.”
“I-I...,” she trailed off, turning around to connect his sad, emerald eyes with her solemn blue eyes. “I’m sorry... but I don’t. W-what happened? I know you, right? S-so why don’t I remember you?”
Adrien blinked back tears that were billowing in his eyes and she hissed in a pained breath at the sight. She might not remember him or any of their memories... but her heart sure did with how it was trembling at the sight.
He chuckled darkly. Glaring down at her bedspread as he ran another hand through his hair. “It was all Monarch’s fault. You don’t remember him but he’s a supervillain who's been terrorizing Paris for years. And you... well, you’re Ladybug the superhero who's been protecting us from him. That’s actually why you have this ridiculous costume on.”
Adrien snickered softly, gesturing down at her costume. She shook her head, trying to understand. Supervillains... superheroes... magical costumes? Surely this was just all a dream. But it didn’t feel like a dream. And, at least she knew why he was calling her Ladybug. But her...? A superhero!? How?!
He took a deep breath before continuing. “And, for a while now, you’ve been the guardian of the miracle box. A box that holds the creatures that give us our magical powers. But Monarch, he... well, he managed to steal most of these creatures but ours.”
“Wait, wait, our creatures?!” Ladybug’s eyes practically bulged out of her head. “What do you mean ours? Where’s your costume?”
Adrien grinned at her. “I have one too. I just wasn’t transformed like you were when Monarch threatened Paris. He... he said that if you didn’t give up the miracle box he would use every last superpower he had to hurt the civilians of Paris.”
“So I-I gave up this miracle box then? And then... then did that make me lose my memories?” She frowned.
“Yes. You gave it to me,” he said, giving her a sad, tiny quirk of his lips. “And, unfortunately, giving up the miracle box does make you lose your memories. And I think that’s what Monarch was hoping for. That you’d be confused and alone and that’s when he’d strike and get your miraculous. Luckily, though, you were with me.”
Ladybug gave him a small smile, all at once relieved that Adrien was there to help her. If he wasn’t and she was confronted with a supervillain... well... it wouldn’t have been very good.
“And you were the one who told me to bring you here. You said that the pictures would help you realize that I wasn’t lying. And I... I’m so glad you’re alright.” Adrien threw his arms around her.
She whooshed out a large breath as he hugged her to him tightly. Patting him on the back, she hesitantly wrapped her own arms around him. Somehow, as her heart trembled in her chest, she just knew that he was telling the truth.
“Don’t worry, Ladybug.” Adrien sniffled, leaning back to look her in the eyes. “We’ll get your memories back. Together. I’m sure Su Han knows a way for us to fix this. And I promise you I’ll do everything in my power to make you remember again.”
Sucking her lower lip into her mouth, she shakily nodded her head at him. “A-alright. I trust you, Adrien.”
With that final murmur leaving her lips, this time Ladybug threw her arms around him. She felt safe in his arms. Together she knew that they would figure this out.

Miraculous Descendants au headcanons! Part I
Long ago after a beautiful girl called Sabine breaks the curse that was put on Prince Tom they marry and become rulers of France
Later on a villain called Hawkmoth approaches and attacks on Paris. Beauty and her Beast now had to stop him from hurting their kingdom.
Queen Sabine and King Tom defeated worst villain alive, Hawkmoth. Than later on they formed a Kingdom called Auradon.
Auradon had been living in peace for 20 and now their dearest princess Marinette will take the throne from her parents
Princess Marinette will soon be crowded as queen of Auradon and everyone is sure she will be the most perfect queen they have ever seen
Marinette is also so excited but also worried because her first official proclamation might not be loved by everyone
She decided to bring 5 kids from Isle of the Lost to Auradon to give them a chance to have a normal and better life
Her parents were at first shocked but later they decided to trust their daughters plan
When she mentions she plans on bringing Hawkmoth’s son the whole room goes quite
This time even her parents refuse her plan because Hawkmoth’s son? In Auradon? That would be the worst possible scenario
Marinette tries to convince her parents by bringing the fact if they don’t help Hawkmoth's son now than he might be a even bigger threat than his dad ever was
Her parents agree with her on this and approve her proclamation but warn her to be careful especially around Hawkmoth's son
Later at first day of school she announces her first official proclamation in school garden leaving everyone in shock
Some students protest and say they will feel unsafe
Some students are okay with villain kids coming but they don’t want Hawkmoth's direct descendant in Aurandon
Her best friend Alya is also shocked by her decision to bring Hawkmoth’s son to Auradon
They talked about Marinette’s proclamation before but she left out the part were she was planning on bringing their worst enemies son to Auradon
Marinette comforts her friends and asks them to trust her on this. They eventually agree but they warn her to be careful.
Luka, her boyfriend tells her he supports her every decision and suggests coming with her while welcoming the Isle kids
Marinette is relieved that her boyfriend is so supportive of her since she is planning on marrying with him and making him her king
Back in Isle of the Lost Adrien is vandalising some building as Felix arrives and tells him that his father, Hawkmoth is expecting them to be at his house as soon as possible
Adrien’s smirk drops and he tries so cover the fear in his eyes, Felix can’t know how scared he is from his own father
Soon they arrive to Hawkmoth's place, his father seemed really excited? Happy? Adrien quite couldn’t figure out what is going on with his father
He had never seen him like this, usually his father either had a bored facial expression or a frown on his face
Soon as Kagami, Nino and Zoé arrives, Adrien is quite glad to see Zoé since she was the only kid in Isle he can stand to be around.
His father announces that they were chosen to go to a school in Auradon
Kagami quickly refuses but her dad tells her to go, she mumbles something but eventually agrees
Zoé suddenly smiles brightly, Adrien knows how much she hates Isle and always thought she belonged to Auradon
He sees Zoé’s half-sister shouting and refusing her sister to go instead of her, Adrien feels relieved that Chloe is not coming. He just can’t stand that spoiled brat
Felix seemed to have smug expression on his face, he always wanted the life that royalties and rich people had so Adrien guessed he was glad to go to Auradon
Nino shrugged and told his father he was cool with it, Nino’s father tells him to scam people in Auradon while he’s there
Adrien though he didn’t wanted to leave the Isle and go to a kingdom that is full of prince charmings and heroes, he crossed his arms and told his father he won’t be going
But his father, he always looked scarier with his costume on, grabbed him by his arm and told him he must or else he will face consequences of it
Adrien quickly agreed, out of fear of course but he tried to cover his fear with a bored expression on his face.
Soon his father revealed his true intentions, he told them they will get the miraculous of Ladybug (Princess Marinette herself) and Black Cat and use the wand of fairy for mother to open the barrier so his father can finally get his hands on miraculous
Adrien couldn’t let his father down. He needed to prove that he was as evil as him. He would always tell Adrien he has to be more evil and he was not worth his love, Adrien had to prove his father that he was worthy of his love
If he was even capable of love
His father gives him a spell book and the book of miraculous which makes Adrien feel honoured even for a while
He also tells Adrien not to mess it up
So the limousine arrives and VKs go to Auradon
When they arrived to Auradon Princess Marinette welcomes them with her boyfriend Prince Luka
Adrien is mesmerised by the princess, she looked really similar to girl in his dreams
Same goes for Princess Marinette who recognises Adrien from her dreams.
When they were shaking hands as she introduces herself as the crown princess, he notices her earrings behind her pigtails
He introduces himself as son of Hawkmoth which makes the princess drop her smile for a second but she quickly recovers it
Her boyfriend seem to feel uneasy as he hears Adrien’s fathers name.
The crown princess tells them to feel welcome and she hopes they will make progression here
Nino snorts and tells the crown princess he doesn’t need any and winks at her
Soon a girl in glasses arrives with a taller girl who has her one eye closed because of her hair
He later learns the girls are named Alya and Juleka, Juleka is apparently a princess like Marinette but she didn’t had the classical princess like look
She tells them the girls will help them with giving them tour and shows them around
Part II will be posted soon🫶🏻

not feeling well mentally rn and my brain went zooming towards adrien having several trauma responses to illness.
i don’t mean falling ill himself, but watching other people fall ill or them being injured. he’s had to go through the torture of watching his mother get sicker and sicker until one day when he woke up and she wasn’t there anymore
him flinching every time nathalie coughs or even clears her throat, she’s accustomed to sending him a small smile to let him know she’s alright, but when her legs give way and she’s about to faint again he’s the first to catch her before she falls, he’s always bringing her her food tray whenever he’s at home and not at school or at a million other extracurriculars, he memorises every pill and syup the doctor prescribes and always makes sure they’re at her bedside. nathalie hides the unopened packages of medicines whenever adrien walks into the room because he doesn’t know her illness is because of magical causes, and she wants him to think she’s taking her meds.
he gets a huge scolding and gets grounded for a week for taking a detour from school to nino’s house but adrien can’t bring himself to care. nino had broken his leg while climbing down the stairs, and imagine his shock when adrien came barging into his room and shaking him and checking him all over like he was on his deathbed. adrien didn’t leave until nino promised to text him everyday about his improvement.
he knows what its like to see the people you love fall ill and be terrified about them never getting discharged from the doctor’s care. that’s why he quietly steals glances at rose and juleka whenever he can. he never makes it obvious, because neither of them like the attention, but he can tell whenever they’re having a conversation about rose’s sickness, because juleka always sends adrien a particularly sad look.
he didn’t think of all the people he loved, plagg would fall sick. one morning he woke up to find plagg howling from a tummy ache and refusing to touch his cheese and adrien went nuts. he couldn’t contact master fu, master su han didn’t know who he was, and the only one with the actual solution to heal his kwami was ladybug, who didn’t know his identity either. his only choice was to let plagg find his way to ladybug by himself, even though he looked terribly ill. adrien locked himself in the bathroom to pretend he was having a shower before fencing class, because he couldn’t stand the thought of leaving the house and plagg coming back to him not being there. not even an hour later, plagg came back with a sheepish yet shameless grin - ladybug had healed his stomach ache and only warned him not to eat too much cheese in one day.
adrien went into a silent convulsion when he saw marinette’s prescription for constipation on that train. he had to tell himself to calm down. constipation wasn’t a serious matter. people didn’t die from it. but they were in a lot of pain and discomfort and he couldn’t stand the thought of marinette like that. he spent the entire weekend walking around london on foot, arguing and pleading with english pharmacists who didn’t store a french brand of constipation medicine.
he knows ladybug doesn’t like it when he’s hurt, and he does try his best to not get erased or brainwashed or injured while battling akumas, but he can’t not jump in front of her when she’s in danger. better him than her. one time an akuma threw her headfirst into a building, and she couldn’t open her eyes for a full minute. she awoke to her head on chat’s lap and a knocked out villain.

My #1 post of 2022
notice how when everyone else had fallen adrien was still fighting
this boy is a hero inside and out and like this is not even out of the blue. in origins he was the catalyst for ladybug becoming the hero she is. in heroes day he was the one telling ladybug that they will never lose as long as they're together. in miraculer he kept fighting with broken ribs and saved the bee miraculous while he was at it. and now he keeps on throwing himself at strike back, even when he gets knocked out and thrown on his behind. his love for ladybug never wavered even when he was angry with her. he keeps telling her and everyone else that they can keep on going. adrien agreste is at his most feminine coded when he keeps on being a symbol for hope, despite having the most reasons of any character in this entire show to not have any.

Free to Be You and Me: chapter 34
Chapter 33
Disclaimer: I don’t own ML.
Thank you so much to everyone who’s followed this story from the start! :)
It’s almost midnight by the time Adrien makes it home – or rather, Ladybug takes him home. After all, she’d reasoned, his father is probably waiting desperately to know he’s safe, and this could be the final nail in the Ladrien coffin that they need. If Adrien’s own father thinks the relationship is over, it could help them sell it just that little bit better.
Adrien disagrees. Gabriel Agreste has never done anything desperately in his life. Ladybug had been decidedly unamused when he’d voiced that part.
It’s a good thing that he hadn’t returned home as Chat Noir, because his father is waiting in his room. Gabriel’s eyes flick to the window the moment Ladybug taps on the glass.
“Ladybug,” he says in his usual monotone after opening the window. “Thank you for bringing my son home.”
“Sorry I kept him out so late, Mr Agreste,” Ladybug says, depositing Adrien gently on his feet. “We just…had a lot to talk about.”
“Ladybug, please,” Adrien says immediately. “We can make this work! Please don’t break up with me, please –”
“We talked about this. It was a bad idea from the start, Adrien. And now that Hawkmoth knows…”
“I appreciate that, Ladybug,” Gabriel says while Adrien’s shoulders slump. “I was going to ask you myself to stay away from my son for his own safety.”
“No need.” Ladybug looks down. “I’m really sorry, Mr Agreste. I never meant to put Adrien in danger just for my own selfish desires.”
“It wasn’t selfish,” Adrien insists because he knows his lady too well and this isn’t just some act she’s putting on for his father’s benefit. “And I was in it just as much as you were.”
“Well, it’s over now.” Ladybug takes a step away from him. “I won’t endanger you ever again.”
“Please –”
“No. Goodbye, Adrien.” Ladybug sways oddly, like she’s about to hug or kiss him, but then she shakes her head and bolts for the window. She doesn’t look back once as she swings away. Damn, she’s good at this.
“I’m sorry, son,” Gabriel says after a few moments of silence. “It must be…devastating to lose the one you love.”
“I’ll be fine, Father,” Adrien says automatically. Then his brain catches up and he remembers that he’s supposed to be selling this act and he’s not, in fact, still with his lady. “It’s for the best. Ladybug absolutely refused to put me in danger again, even though I pointed out that Hawkmoth wouldn’t care if we were together or not if he wanted to hurt me and her.”
“Smart girl.” Gabriel sits down on the couch. After a moment, Adrien follows suit. “Hawkmoth might realise that it’s not worth it to try that again now that you two are separated and he lost the Peacock. His masterstroke failed. And I…I couldn’t live with myself if you were put in danger again.”
Adrien shoots his father an odd look. What do Gabriel’s feelings have to do with Hawkmoth’s rationale? Before he can think too deeply about that, Gabriel’s turning towards him and placing a hand on his shoulder and, well, that’s the most affection his father’s shown in months, so he’ll take it.
“I’m sorry, Adrien,” Gabriel says. “I managed to get myself free and escape with Nathalie but I should have tried to save you too.”
“You couldn’t have. Hawkmoth had my –” Adrien narrows his eyes at Gabriel. “My amok. Mind explaining that, Father?”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Your wedding ring? The one you kept playing with whenever you were giving me orders and making me do what you said?”
“It was for your own good!” Gabriel bursts out. Then he closes his eyes and visibly calms himself. “I’m sorry. Yes, Adrien, you’re a sentimonster.”
“But…why?” Adrien’s voice cracks. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“What could I have said?” Gabriel says, which is honestly a fair point. How do you explain to someone that their entire existence is a lie?
“But Father…how? How am I a s-sentimonster?” Adrien’s tongue trips over the word. Man, he’s done so much compartmentalising today that he’s almost afraid to be left alone with his thoughts tonight. “Hawkmoth had the Peacock. I know he didn’t create me. And it was damaged! You saw how Mayura was whenever she was out in public!”
For a long while, Gabriel says nothing. Adrien looks down and fidgets with his ring, wondering if he’ll get any answers out of his father or if, as usual, Gabriel will shut things down and refuse to tell him anything.
“Your mother had a miscarriage,” he finally says. Adrien almost falls off the couch. “She wanted to try again but I didn’t want to put her in danger. That miscarriage almost killed her. She knew I possessed the Peacock Miraculous from one of my trips to Tibet, and she knew it was damaged – a lesson I learned the hard way when I attempted to use it – but she didn’t care. She wanted a child.”
“She –” Adrien’s voice cracks. “She hurt herself? For me?”
“She was fine at first,” Gabriel says. “The side-effects didn’t go away, but we thought she would be fine. She’d only used it a few times, after all. We…hadn’t counted on the effects growing worse over time, even with only a few uses. That’s why she would have bouts of illness when you were a child. And then…eventually…”
“It killed her,” Adrien breathes. He buries his face in his hands. “Mother’s dead because of me. I shouldn’t exist –”
“Don’t say that!” Gabriel snaps. Adrien’s head shoots up in shock. “Don’t say that, Adrien. Never doubt your existence. I might…struggle sometimes, knowing that Emilie would be here if she hadn’t used the Peacock, but I’ve never blamed you. I’ve never hated you. You’re her son. Our son. The Peacock’s power uses emotion, and Emilie used every bit of love in her massive heart to create you. Maybe too well…you’re so infuriatingly similar to her sometimes.”
Adrien lets out a choked sob. Gabriel awkwardly pats his back, and Adrien throws his arms around his father, squeezing as tight as he can, trying to convey every bit of love in the heart created by his mother.
“But…how did Hawkmoth have the Peacock, then?” Adrien says when he finally pulls back. “You can’t be Hawkmoth. You’ve been akumatised twice. And you were there with him. In the studio.”
An odd smile spreads across Gabriel’s face. Adrien doesn’t even attempt to understand it. No one can understand his father these days. Or ever, really.
“I locked it away after it took your mother,” Gabriel says. “The first time I saw it since then was when Mayura became active. My guess is that Hawkmoth found out about the Peacock through our mind link when I was akumatised the first time. Not that I can remember to confirm. I assume he stole it at some point and gave it to Mayura.”
Adrien sags against his father. There. Definitive proof that his father can’t be Hawkmoth. They’re still back to square one but…at least he’s not the son of a supervillain.
“Where’s your ring?” Gabriel says. Adrien leans back and frowns at him. “Your amok. You know that keeping it safe is of the utmost importance.”
“I…left it with a friend,” Adrien says after a moment. “A friend I’d trust with my existence. I’m not going to tell you who, though. No one apart from me and them know.”
“That’s probably wise. Hawkmoth has already broken in once. If he knew that you had your ring and he had a ready-made akuma fully under his control…”
Adrien shivers at the thought. Gabriel must notice because he again awkwardly pats Adrien on the back.
“I’m sorry, my son,” he says. “I’m sorry I never told you. I just…didn’t want to devastate you with the truth of your existence. Or devalue your mother’s sacrifice. She loved you so, so much, and so do I. I’m just sorry that I’ve ever made you doubt that.”
Adrien shudders, his eyes stinging, then he lets out a choked sob and hugs Gabriel again. This time, Gabriel hugs him back, and Adrien snuggles into his father’s warmth and finally lets himself break.
.
SIX MONTHS LATER
“Dude,” Nino says as he and Adrien meet outside the school gates, their umbrellas crashing against each other in the pouring rain. “You really need to do something about them.”
“Adrien, I’m here!” cries the hundredth fan in just a week. “Pick me! I’ll be your next girlfriend!”
“I love you, Adrien!” squeals another one.
“Marry me!”
“I’ll always wait for you!”
“Marinette said she’s got something up her sleeve,” Adrien says. Thunder booms overhead. “That’s why we’re waiting here. I don’t know what but…” He bounces on the spot, his stomach fluttering. “Her plans are always good.”
“You’re disgusting.” Nino shakes his head. “I thought Alya and I were the sickeningly sweet couple but nope, you guys take the cake.”
“We’re not a couple, though! Not fully! Not yet!”
Nino gives him a Look. “Dude. You and Ladybug were swapping spit for a solid half hour on patrol. Ryūjin had to Thunder Dragon you two apart. And Alya’s still taking her salt out on me because she didn’t get to kiss Ladybug at all last night thanks to you hogging her. If that’s not a couple, I’ll eat my cap.”
Adrien grins at the memory of Kagami as her new, permanent superhero identity constantly zapping both him and Ladybug until they’d gotten the hint and stopped making out. He’s rewarded with a slap around the head.
“Hey!” he complains.
“You’re so lucky we love you, dude,” Nino says. “No one else would put up with this.”
“You’re just saying that because you get to keep your Miraculous,” Adrien grumbles. “Which was totally a bribe, by the way, so you didn’t complain every single time Alya and I kissed Marinette.”
“Yeah, and what’s my reward? I have to see more of it. Chat Noir and Ladybug and Foxglove are the ones together and I have to see it every time I’m with you.”
“You know you love me,” Adrien grins. Nino rolls his eyes but he’s smiling, so Adrien counts it as a win.
“Adrien!” calls the one voice he doesn’t mind shouting his name. Adrien turns, a grin spreading across his face, as Marinette bolts past the multitudes of people clamouring for Adrien’s attention, her loose, damp hair streaming behind her in a black wave. She slips on the wet pavement, yelps and windmills her arms, then manages to recover once Alya catches up with their shared umbrella and steadies her.
“Marinette!” he waves as she starts running to him again. What he’s not expecting is for Marinette to dive on him, throwing her arms around him, burying her face in the crook of his neck. Adrien spontaneously combusts on the spot and drops his umbrella. “W-What –?”
“I’m tired of pretending,” Marinette murmurs against his skin. “It’s been long enough.” Then she’s pulling back and kissing him, her strawberry chapstick lips and cool, wet skin encompassing him with warmth and love, and all Adrien can do is gasp and kiss her back, his hands falling to her waist. People are dimly crying and shrieking around them but, well…Adrien couldn’t care less. Not when he’s got his lady, his princess, his Marinette.
“Can we go, Alya?” Nino complains once they finally pull apart. “I need to be…anywhere that’s not here.”
“I’m so getting extra kissing rights for this,” Alya says grumpily. “Since I’m only with Ladybug but you get her both ways.”
Marinette beams up at Adrien, her cheeks flushed. Adrien probably doesn’t look much better. The people around him fade into white noise as he brushes her wet hair back from her face and tucks it behind her ear, her black earrings gleaming in a flash of lightning. With a sigh, Nino holds his umbrella over Adrien, while Alya plasters herself to Marinette’s side to cover both of them with hers.
“I love you,” Adrien says. “I always have. I always will. You’re it for me.”
Marinette grins, her cheeks darkening. “I love you too,” she says, reaching up to cup his face. The ring on her finger, unassumingly wrapped in soft pink fabric, burns a path of life across his skin. “I couldn’t pretend any longer.”
“You know we were “swapping spit” just last night, right?”
“Shut up,” Marinette huffs, pulling away. “You killed the moment. It’s gone. I hope you’re happy now. I’m gonna go kiss Alya instead. She won’t make fun of me.”
“Wanna bet?” Alya mutters.
“Noooo.” Adrien reels Marinette back in and kisses her on the forehead. “I’m sorry, ma choupinette. Forgive your silly kitty?”
“Hmm.” Marinette pretends to think. “I might. If I was given a good enough incentive.”
“Incentive, huh? Would a kiss from your humble prince do?”
“I think it might.”
Adrien laughs and wraps his arms around her so that he can properly kiss his beautiful lady, just as he plans to do for the rest of his life. Now that they’re finally free to be together, there’s no one or nothing that could ever take this away from him. Never.
