I've basically had the same political opinions since I was 10 and I went through some years where I was really like "no it must be more complicated, I must not understand the situation fully" but actually now having read a ton of theory and having had a ton of conversations with good comrades, my basic beliefs that we have enough to make sure everyone is housed and fed, most jobs under capitalism exist to funnel wealth upward, fuck Nazis and fuck the United States of America, we're only in the middle east for oil; all these beliefs are blindingly obviously correct and always have been.

#my roomate and I were talking earlier and I mentioned how hard it was growing up broke #bc it was just my mom rasing me on a teacher’s salary while paying off all the debt my dad left her in and all the lawyers #and how it really messed up my relationship to money bc my mom was always working and I was always aware of how much everything costed #and how we never went on vacation once or ever bought expensive things #or got new toys #and how even tho life was really hard for a lot of reasons growing up having no money was just kind of a slap in the face #and my roomate said ‘yeah but really would money have made it better?’#and like god wtf yes of COURSE it would have #like she was from this really rich white neighborhood growing up and we had similar childhoods #except her mom was lower middle class #and she told me about how when times were really tough her grandmother would give her $50 a week allowance to teach her about money #and I wanted to scream #bc I just finished telling her about how a few weeks ago my grandmother was on the brink of tears #and just kept telling me ‘I wish I could have done more i wish it was more I’d pay for every class at college if I could’#when she gave me $300 for my college graduation/move in gift #and i KNOW she had been saving that up for the whole time I was in college #‘would all those things have really made you happy as a child’ idk but it would have been nice to have had the option #my entertainment was drawing for hours bc I could do that on printer paper my mom got from work with a pencil #and I’m happy now I’m good and I’m really genuinely in a much better place #but man the level of entitlement rich white middle class kids have is frustrating #bc even tho our childhoods were so similar in a lot of ways money really made a massive difference #i like my roommates and this isn’t me shitting on them #but also tumblr is the only place no one follows me on so I can be bitchy #like I really love my roommates and they are my good friends I just wanted to vent and be a bitch

Apparently, my decision to be silly and make fanart of someone's writing (because I genuinely enjoy the story the person is writing and I was struck with inspiration upon reading a particular scene) has benevolent and wildly unforeseen consequences.

I apparently gained a bit of control of the canon because said writer really loved the art and decided what I drew/draw is canon.

2. Writer put said artwork into the document of his story right below the scene, so now it's IN the story where people who read the story will see it (with a link to me)

3. He sent the artwork to all his friends and people he knows because he was so excited

Wholesome interaction and I watched him do all that in real time, good stuff. However...there are two more consequences I was notified of today...nearly a full week after I gave the artwork.

Seeing the artwork caused his friends to become interested in reading and hearing about his story, which means more people are reading what he's writing and giving him critique on the story (which he actively asks for).

Apparently, upon seeing the art, his writer friends got a sudden second wind to pick back up writing they'd abandoned for a few months. Because, I quote, "seeing that someone enjoyed {his} writing enough to take the time to make art of it gave them the motivation that maybe THEY can write something that will inspire someone to also create something." I have accidentally caused a writing frenzy among his writer friends and my silly idea to make art for someone has had a butterfly effect for people who I don't even know.

Uhh...I'm pretty sure there's a moral here but I am tired and have a great deal of emotions about this.

it's come to my attention that a lot of people don't know about bluemaxima's flashpoint and genuinely think they'll never be able to play their favorite 00s internet games ever again so i just want to remind everyone that flashpoint is a huge internet flash game preservation project that allows you to play just about any internet flash game/animation despite the death of flash. if they've got it in their database (and they probably do) you can play it. go forth and drink in the 00s nostalgia

even if you think there's no way they'll have the game u want. they probably do anyway. when i first downloaded flashpoint i thought for sure theres no way they will have the obscure flash game i played for hours as a kid that was only even available on the internet for like 2 months in 2006. but you know what. they had it. seriously, download flashpoint
