Ananiel Malice

A new resident of Ferrough and the newest member of the Ferrough Library’s archival team. Haunted by both past mistakes and an actual, literal spirit, he has spent the last while traveling from place to place, hunting monsters and adding entries to his cryptid sighting blog. He and his spirit (friend?) Shark arrived following her lead, searching to remedy his past mistake, and fulfill his end of an old bargain. Secretive and observant, you could say he’s the brainiac of the group.

Bio:

Born into a noble High Elf family, the first 50 years of Ananeil's life were considerably normal by a nobles standards. She had private touters and excelled at performing courtly dances. On her 50th birthday this all came crashing down around her.

Before her birth Ananeil's mother had been having trouble conceiving a child to secure her marriage to Ananeil's Duke of a father. Due to her mothers lower social status the only way to ensure he asked for her hand was to ensure a pregnancy. However the dukes parents were working to secure a marriage between him and another duchess. Upon hearing this news her mother reached for who ever would save her be it hag, devil, or god.

It didn't take any time for her to catch Raphael's attention. After all he mingled amongst the Baldur's Gate nobles and she was a notable fixture on the Duke's arm. When Raphael promised her a child the deal was agreed to before he even finished his terms. The child would be born under a glamour, but on the child's half century birthday he would come and collect his prize, the Duchess.

However when he was turned away by the Duchess and Duke the contract was broken and the Duchess's infidelity was thrust into the spot light. She had slept with a devil and this perfect elvish child was no more than a teifling. Plucking out Ananeil's left eye and placing a kiss to it, Raphael shattered the glamour protecting her amongst the nobility she had grown up within before disappearing once again.

The eye shone with devil's fire and her alabaster elven skin began to peel away leaving deep blue in it's wake. The Duke denounced her and her mother. Sending her mother to the dungeons and Ananeil into the streets.

It didn't take long for Ananeil to be taken in by a Matron of a high end brothel. If the girl could entertain the high end customers with her noble charms when she had a home.

Ananeil had been working in the brothel for almost 7 years before she was abducted by the Mind Flayers.

And Raphael, who had been keeping an eye on his spawn this whole time, put his plan into place for the Crown of Karsus. The only thing he forgot to account for was just how hated he was by his own daughter.

AASIMAR IN JACKAL GULCH

In Jackal Gulch, aasimar are created. Members of the clergy of Pholtus each hope that during their baptism rite, they will be claimed and recognized with an Archangel's Blessing and become an aasimar. There are many theories about what qualifies one to be an aasimar, whether it is at the mere whims of each Archangel or whether they see their strengths within a mortal and give them the tools to further their prowess. Some parents try to mold their children in specific ways to fit the virtues and value of a specific archangel in hopes that their child will be baptized and blessed as an aasimar.   Aasimar that turn against their blessing, the path of Pholtus and his angels, and fall to sin become Apostates. Additionally, those who were once blessed by the fallen Zariel have become Apostates, those who were once blessed by the deceased Rachel have lost their blessings.

Ability Scores. Choose one of: (a) Choose any +2; choose any other +1 (b) Choose three different +1

Size. Small or Medium

Speed. 30 ft. 

Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light and in darkness as if it were dim light. You discern colors in that darkness only as shades of gray.

Celestial Resistance. You have resistance to radiant damage.

Archangel's Blessing. You have been blessed and chosen by a specific archangel and bear an aspect of their power. You choose Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma as your spellcasting ability for your cantrip. You choose which ability when you select this lineage. Each blessing is accompanied by an awakened essence of their power you can draw out known as a Celestial Revelation, which you gain at 3rd level. You can use a bonus action to unleash the celestial energy within yourself, gaining the benefits of that revelation. Your transformation lasts for 1 minute or until you end it as a bonus action. Once you transform using your revelation below, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest. Choose one of the following blessings: 

Blessing of Ananiel. You are blessed by the Angel of Calamity. You know the Lightning Lure cantrip. In addition, you have resistance to lightning damage. 

Celestial Revelation. When you manifest your Celestial Revelation as a bonus action, a dust devil engulfs a 10 ft. radius around you. As a bonus action on your subsequent turns, you can force creatures within the tornado to make a Strength saving throw. the DC equals 8 + your proficiency bonus + the ability modifier you chose for your cantrip. On a failed save they are pushed 10 ft. away from you. Until the transformation ends, once on each of your turns, you can deal extra lightning damage to one target when you deal damage to it with an attack or a spell. The extra damage equals your proficiency bonus.

Blessing of Cadriel. You are blessed by the Angel of Valor. You know the Sword Burst cantrip. In addition, you can choose to gain proficiency with martial weapons or medium and heavy armor. If you have proficiency in both, you gain a fighting style from the Fighter class. 

Celestial Revelation. When you manifest your Celestial Revelation as a bonus action, searing light temporarily radiates from your eyes and mouth. For the duration, you shed bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet, and at the end of each of your turns, each creature within 10 feet of you takes radiant damage equal to your proficiency bonus. Until the transformation ends, once on each of your turns, you can deal extra radiant damage to one target when you deal damage to it with an attack or a spell. The extra damage equals your proficiency bonus.

Blessing of Daniel. You are blessed by the Angel of Innovation. You know the Mending cantrip. In addition, you gain two tool proficiencies. Your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make with them. You cannot gain expertise with these tools in the future. 

Celestial Revelation. When you manifest your Celestial Revelation as a bonus action, two luminous wings sprout from your back temporarily. Until the transformation ends, you have a flying speed equal to your walking speed. In addition, while transformed, as a reaction you can grant you or an ally within 10 ft. a bonus to an attack or saving throw equal to your proficiency modifier. 

Blessing of Hadrien. You are blessed by the Angel of Patience. You know the Light cantrip. In addition, you learn Shield of Faith, and at 3rd level, you learn Arc of Light. You can cast each spell once per day without expending a spell slot.  You can also cast these spells using any spell slots you have of the appropriate level. 

Celestial Revelation. When you manifest your Celestial Revelation as a bonus action, two luminous wings sprout from your back temporarily. Until the transformation ends, you have a flying speed equal to your walking speed.

Blessing of Neriah. You know the Guidance cantrip. In addition, as an action, you can touch a creature and cause it to regain a number of hit points equal to your level. Once you use this trait, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.

Celestial Revelation. When you manifest your Celestial Revelation as a bonus action, you shed bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet. At the start of your turn, you and allies within 10 ft gain temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus. 

Alternatively, some aasimar after turning their back on their faith become an Apostate, the setting's version of a Fallen Aasimar. Replace the Archangel's Blessing feature with the following:

Apostate's Burden. You know the Thaumaturgy cantrip. Your status creates both fear and respect depending on where you walk and who you are with. You have Proficiency in Intimidation and Persuasion. Additionally, your sense of conviction is unmatched. You have advantage on saving throws against being Charmed or Frightened.

By the request of myself, here’s my alterhuman/nonhuman friendly cooking thingamajig idk

Anyways, to start this off: dragon fire meringues I made for a DnD meeting!

Sadly, they didn’t hold their shape very well due to these being made on a hot and humid day.

I personally think meringues are great for all sorts of alterhumans and kin types. With a light crunchy texture, the ability to make art with, a general sweetness, and an aesthetic of both casual snack and elegant treat; it is great for species euphoria. The only problem is time and difficulty. Meringues are very, very finicky and the slightest mistake can end up ruining your attempt.

And for anybody with textural issues: I don’t recommend making these as they are VERY sticky before cooked. When you’re spooning the mixture into the piping bag and you accidentally touch the goop… it’s not exactly the most pleasant feeling.

Ingredients: egg whites, sugar, cream of tartar, food coloring (optional)

Angelic Hierarchy

[This is the Christian hierarchy, I was going to start with the Jewish hierarchy and then do Christianity and then do Islam but Judaism has multiple hierarchies and Islam doesn’t seem to rank them]

The First Sphere

Angels in the First Sphere worship and live with God directly and communicate His will to angels closer to humanity.

Seraphim

The highest of all angels, seraphim fly around the throne of God, crying “holy, holy, holy.”  Seraphim have six wings.  They were characterized by Thomas Aquinas by their “burning love for God.”

Seraphim appear in the Book of Isaiah and the Book of Revelation.

Cherubim

Cherubim have two sets of wings and four faces: a human, a lion, an ox, and an eagle.  They serve as a vehicle for God: "He mounted the cherubim and flew; he soared on the wings of the wind." [Psalm 18:10].  Aquinas characterized cherubim by their knowledge. Cherubim are the angels depicted on the ark of the Covenant and a cherub is said to guard the Garden of Eden.

Cherubim appear in the Books of Genesis, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, Psalms, Isaiah, and Ezekiel.

Thrones

Tumblr's favorite angel, Thrones are also called Ophanim or Wheels. Thrones are so named because they guard the throne of God. Thrones are burning interlocked wheels covered with eyes. They never sleep, and are characterized by Rosemary Ellen Guiley as peaceful and submissive.

Thrones appear in the Books of Daniel and Ezekiel and in the letter to the Colossians.

The Second Sphere

Angels in the Second Sphere govern God's creation.

Dominations

Dominations are also called Dominions or Lordships. Dominations regulate the duties of lower angels.

Dominations appear in the letters to the Ephesians and Colossians.

Virtues

Virtues govern celestial bodies and rule over miracles and blessings.

Virtues appear in the letter to the Ephesians.

Powers

Powers, also called Authorities, have dominion over evil forces. They guard the border between Heaven and Earth.

Powers appear in the letter to the Ephesians.

The Third Sphere

Angels in the Third Sphere act as protectors and messengers to humans.

Principalities

Principalities, also called Princedoms and Rulers, oversee groups of people, such as governments or churches. They are the angels charged with fulfilling divine ministries.

Principalities appear in the letter to the Ephesians.

Archangels

Archangels are the guardians of nations and countries, and the people and events therein. There are said to be seven archangels, with Michael being the only one named in the Bible.

In Catholicism, Gabriel and Raphael are also archangels. Uriel was recognized as an archangel by some early Church fathers, but the text in which he appears, the Fourth Book of Esdras, is not a part of the Catholic canon.

In the Eastern Orthodox Church, there are seven recognized archangels: Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Sealtiel, Jeguidel, and Barachiel. An eighth angel, Jerahmeel, is also sometimes listed as an archangel.

The Coptic Orthodox Church acknowledges seven archangels: Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Suriel, Zedekiel, Sarathiel, and Ananiel.

The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church venerates seven archangels: Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Phanuel, Raguel, and Ramiel.

Some Anglican churches name seven archangels: Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Chamuel, Jophiel, and Zadkiel.

Archangels are mentioned in 1 Thessolonians and the Book of Jude.

The lowest angelic order, angels are the most connected to human beings. Guardian angels [Matthew 18:10] refers to this class of angel. These angels serve as messengers to humanity.
