Hii 🤗 Hope you are well. I love your art! Will definitely get a print or two when I get the chance.
I was wondering if you would tell me (your vision) about Sigyn and Hela?
Sigyn has been with me for some time now, and though she doesn’t communicate much, I feel very connected to her. Through her I had a couple of meaningful encounters with Loki, even though I don’t work with him directly. I would like to strengthen my bond to her but not sure how.
Hela recently made herself known in things I’d been carrying for easily over a year. It never occurred to me that she was there until she came out almost shouting. I feel like she’s expecting me to give her her due but I don’t know what to offer her.
I’m hoping that hearing about other pagan’s ideas and relationships to these goddesses might help me get a clue.
Thank you so much and I hope you have a wonderful day ✨
Hi 😀 thank you Im doing good. And thank you, always warms my heart that so manny pepole seemes to like what I do ❤️
Ok sure thing. I dont work with Sigyn much but perspectives are good.
So Sigyn. For me shes a goddess of strenght in tuff times, a goddess of strengt and light in the dark. This is also why for me she is included during Disablot, when the nights are long and the the world still cold, to find strength in the one that stod for endless nights awaiting light and reelife.
I find her also as a goddess of victory, makes sense do to her name meaning "female friend of victory". I find her surprisingly innocent compared to her husband, with a good nature, but very choosy of who she helps. Like, less active. I love that you also, just like me, finds her also not comunicating much haha. In short I see her, as a burning start, The one that burns the britghtes in the darkest moments. Idk if this helpes sense I dont work with her much, but hope its of some help.
Idk what would would be the perfect offering for you to give her, its more what the offerings means to you that matters, the symbolic meaning.
But I offer her just good foood, bread, baked goods and a lot of drinks, wine, mead, honey water and hard alcohol. But try what feels right for you.
But if i was you, I say, maybe the best thing you can give her is your time.
She is one of the least talked about goddesses and with not that manny who do rituals to her often, most pepole are all about her husband or Thor or Odin and Freya. So I say, just sit down in a Nice place and think and feel, dont expect her to comunicate a lot or something grand or mind blowing magical thing. But just sitt and be, and have her as your focus. Let that time and moment and space, be a offering to the one all to manny forgotten.
Tumblr media
And then we have Hela. Or as I call her, Hel.
Hel I worked with a lot. For me she is maybe not death it self, but death centric, or the one that rules desth. I see her as the one that watch over bones and graves, queen of the dead and to whom all shall go to sooner or latter. Like the one that watch over those in the grave and your ancestors. As well as her being a direct line to them.
When I hold rites to her around Alvablot, I often wear a wodden or ceramic mask I made, something other local hesthens sometimes do as well, but a cloth works just as fine to hide your face. Its to honor her during the blot while also protect yourself and not bring death in to your life. We also have a statue of her in the Temple year around, but coverd her up with a cloth, do to the whole temple just feeling diffrent and well, full of death after we put her statue there. But I dont see her as bad or evil. More of a, loving embrace, like a wathfull kind hug that I one day get to trully feel. So its not that Im afraid of her, just carefull and respectfull of her.
Its hard to describe without getting to personal. But I hope you get it.
To her I often decorate the altar with dead colourfull leafs, a lot of candels and bones and teeth and animal parts. Offerings to her may include dried flowers, something ones alive but now dead, yeat still remaining its beauty. As well mead, wine, baked goods, candy, fruits and meat from the hunt.
A thing that I do tho, thats not really for her but that I like to do, is happening soon tbh.
Around all souls night/all saints night here in Sweden when the graveyeards are filled with candels, I go supper dupper late and often also the night after. Like when there is no one there but like 1000 candels are lit. I just calmly walk around and relit each and every candle that for some reason or other gone out during that one night. Someone was there earlier so the person is belloved and special to someone. I dont light my own on strangers graves, but I make sure that all those candels put there with love and sorrow get to burn to the very end and ligt up the night for both the dead and the living. Its not for everyone, but its a thing for me.
You also get to see a bunch of spooky stuff if you are lucky haha.
I find it intresting that you find her as shouting, I see her more as quiet and always in controll, with a calm in mind. Not in form tho. Thats more loud. My fiance who do a lot of Sejdr work describe her as flashes. Not half a corps and half a healthy woman. But like if you were in a room of blinkning lights and she go from looking dead to looking alive over and over again, no one of those forms was true to her being, because she is fully both at the same time, the living death.
Tumblr media
Now you dont have to do it the way I do. Try things out and dont be afraid. Try the offerings I give her if you like, but its ok to just experiment and see what works for you.
And as always, the way I see them is not absolut or "the true way". Everyone see them and work with them diffrent and I always want pepole to try to find what works for themself. But I hope my perspektive was of any help.
Sorry about my english btw, engelska är inte alls mitt bästa eller mitt första språk och dyslexi är en riktig jävel haha.
And thank you again, and I hope you also have a lovley day ❤️

Alvablot
Hello friends!
Today it is the last Saturday in October and that means that us Norse Pagans celebrate Alvablot! I usually see a lot of people who seem to think that Alvablot and halloween are connected or are similar, but this isn’t the case.
Alvablot according to Asatro is to be celebrated with your family and closest of kin. It is a very private holiday due to the fact that it is dedicated to your own ancestors and dead family members. Use this time to remember your relatives who have passed away, and send a thought to all those who have died in this horrible pandemic we are currently living in.
Remember that we as humans are part of the cycle of nature and a part of life is to eventually die. It is unavoidable. As the leaves on the trees now fall to the ground and die so will we one day. But new life will come, for the trees in the spring in form of new leaves and for us through the miracle of childbirth. The circle of life goes on forever.
So today I leave you with this, be kind, be honest and be loyal to the Gods. Do not forget where you come from and who your ancestors were. Honor them today! Now I wish you all a good evening and a happy Alvablot!

The witching hour 🎃
Spent the witching hour outside in the full moon and wind with the cats. I also had a little #alvablot which is a household blot most likely done by the woman in the house. There are only a few accounts of the blot, probably because it was a private event where the rituals were performed inside the household with only family present.

Another enchanting song by Hindarfjäll - “Alvatid” or “Elf-time”.
The Álfablót or the Elven sacrifice is a pagan Scandinavian sacrifice to the elves towards the end of autumn, when the crops had been harvested and the animals were most fat. (x)

In a few days, on October 31, we anti-Christians and Satanists will celebrate Halloween and on November 1, Christians will commemorate All Saints' Day. In pagan times here in the Nordics, the solemnity Alvablot was celebrated in connection with the full moon at the turn of the month. This year, the full moon occurs during the night between October 31 and November 1. Alvablot is described in three preserved literary sources: "Heimskringla" by Snorre Sturlasson, "Austrfararvisur" by Sigvat Tordsson and in "Kormaks Saga" by an unknown author. Alvablot was celebrated to keep a good relation with the elves and to remember the dead. It was not a lavish party with food and drink, but a quieter ceremony. Objects, animals and humans were sacrificed.
Just a few kilometers from my home, there are three magnificent cult sites where humans were sacrificed in pagan times: Lund, Dalby and Uppåkra. I feel very much connected to the pagan cultural heritage.
A lot is changing in the world these days, and it's going fast. Who knows when human sacrifices will be possible in the future? The era of Satan is approaching!
This is an amazing video, except for the music. Techno would fit better!

Vi går igenom historien hos dessa traditioner och undersöker hur de eventuellt hänger ihop. Det visar sig att oavsett vad man väljer att fira, Halloween, Allhelgona eller Alvablot, så har de minst 1300 års historia!

Music recommendation
youtube
Hello everyone, here comes a music recommendation from me!
I know I am a day late but yesterday it was Alvablot and this song called "Alvatid" by Hindarfjäll really gets you in the spirit of Alvablot. Also it's in Swedish (my native language) and I don't see a lot of viking themed songs in Swedish so it's special to me in that way as well. I hope you all will enjoy!

Halloween didn’t exist when I was little. It was All Hallow’s Eve, a much more somber remembrance of the dead where people went to the graves of loved ones to burn candles or lanterns and lay down flowers and wreaths. It wasn’t a party with candy and costumes. Halloween, as it’s known from the US, didn’t arrive here until the start of the millennium. It’s still pretty new here, although the shops are really doing their best to make it more commercial each year.
What it used to be
The roots of this celebration can be described like this: “It’s an ancient thanksgiving with roots in ancient Norse tradition and Celtic folklore. It was a transitional feast between summer and winter, a New Year’s celebration in which one said welcome to winter and goodbye to summer” – Professor Rune Blix Hagen of UiT, Norway’s Arctic University.
People made offerings of food, fruit and nuts for a good harvest. The supernatural was also a part of the celebration back then. On this date, the veil between the real world and the hereafter was very thin, and many believed that magic and natural forces had more strength. Many people were executed for things they supposedly did on this day, because of the disastrous effects.
How things are done in Norway
Most of the middle-aged and older people still do All Hallow’s Eve by lighting lanterns and adding wreaths and flowers to the graves of loved ones. You still see grave lanterns and wreaths for sale in the shops as this time of year.
Younger adults party. Some do costume parties, others just party because it’s an excuse to do so. Those with children may do either or, but a lot of them take their kids trick or treating. Most of the ones who do trick or treat don’t get up to mischief, but there are always a few who take the opportunity to be bad.
What I do
For most Pagans, it’s a major holiday. One of the most important during the year. Most of us have it as a day of remembrance, honoring those who have gone before us and the loved ones who have passed on. For the Wiccans (and a lot of witches), it’s the end of the year and the start of a new one.
On the eve of October 31, I toast to the departed, to forefathers and foremothers, and give an offering of milk and cookies to the spirits of the land while thanking them for the help. We usually put up some seasonal decorations after Lilith’s birthday on the 23rd of October. These are some of the ones we have up this year. She even put some on the kitchen fan and fridge.
On my altar, I have pictures of my people near to me who have passed on, my previous, along with the usual items, some decorations, and the offering to the house gnomes and spirits of the land. I take those outside when I’m done with my ritual.
The ones on the far left are my paternal grandparent and the ones next to them are my maternal grandparents. The man in the middle is my father when he was young, The ones on the right are some of the pets I’ve had and lost. I don’t have pictures left of the other 4 cats and the mouse.
I will be doing my ritual on Saturday after we get back from volunteering at the Halloween lantern walk in the next town. I don’t take Lilith trick or treating because there are no street lights along this
Most cultures seem to have some way to mark this time of year, and although we may call it by different names, almost all of them seem to have some of the same elements.
Remembering dead loved ones
Leaving gifts for the departed
The thinning of the borders between the living and the dead
Our ancestors are part of our strength. Who among your ancestors inspires you or give you strength when you think of them?
