okay more than a week late due to life. but. concert report!

rock band from hell absolutely bang! they kinda give me good charlotte vibes in such a good way! they were so much fun, super great energy. at one point they had everyone like. get down so we could jump up and i hit the deck so hard my knee is still bruised lol but it was still fun 😂 jere kept licking his guitar when he wasn’t grinning which. whore behaviour (affectionate)

ghostkid gave a slapping show too! alas their brand of industrial is in a similar vein to miw which isn’t my vibe but it was still fun and i had a good time. so. but the crowd was so energetic i got like no pictures, just a super blurry one of their bassist with his shroud and corpse paint. he kept staring out into the audience doing that intense stare thing but seeing as he looked like a necromancers minion it was kinda hot ngl

and bc! they did their exit radio thing, but my ears were ringing too bad to hear much of it. the songs they were playing on it were fun tho lol like. going from britney spears to slayer was A Choice and it banged

the show was so good! it made me wanna give exitemo another chance tbh like how seeing lxsx made me give them another chance. the crowd was super energetic with a pretty good pit going for most of the set, and the guys looked so happy! joel also kept sticking his necklace in his mouth, but alas i couldn’t get a pic in time :( he also made a little heartfelt speech about how happy he was the show was so close to sold out and that the last time bc played bristol it was at the same venue (a boat), and niko just cut him off mid sentence to say ‘i like boats’ 😂😂 joel asked him if he had ‘a whole fucking standup routine’ and then carried on with his heartfelt speech 🥰🥰🥰 he also had his little wrestle with joonas 😂😂 ooo and joonas singing rory’s part in for another day has me gagging for more of his vocals because i adore his vocals apparently lol. and afterwards they did their bows to the backstreet boys and were jamming out to it like the crowd which was just. *chefs kiss*

what I think the octonauts listen to

I feel like Shellington would listen to a lot of weezer, red hot chill peppers and like folkpunk and stuff like that, he just gives me those vibes/pos. but sometimes he listens to emo music when he feels like a angsy teenager again. (I’m sorry but I feel like shellington + dashi were scemo kids at one point)

I feel like Dashi would listen to nightcore. and twee pop (esp heavenly) + surf rock. I also think she likes MARINA and tv girl (I have never listened to tv girl, so take that w/ a grain of salt.) she also likes emo music as well. It makes her feel nostalgic. She introduced it to Shellington.

Peso I feel like listens to Spanish and edm music. And Beyoncé. He blasts all the single ladies at 3 am. (Which pisses off Kwazii, because Kwazii needs his beauty sleep.) he also blasts it while him and Shellington are driving. I also think he likes 80s music like David Bowie for example.

I feel like kwazii would love sea snantys and the spice girls (I had a dream where he was singing wannabe so it’s lived rent free in my brain ever since) and he also likes Sublime (blame tweak). And he also enjoys Green Day (blame paani + self projection.), he especially likes Longview bc he relates to it very heavily.

Music Taste The RE Characters Give Me Vibes Of Part One:

Chris Redfield: When he was a teen, I feel like he was very much into Bowie, Journey, and other popular 80's pop stars. After Raccoon City, especially as he became more and more obsessive with fighting bioterrorism and giving up hope of living his life in peace, he rarely turned on the stereo unless one of his teammates wanted to listen to something. But every once in a while, he'll pop in one of his CDs and let himself drift back to a time when things were simpler.

Claire Redfield: She gives me the vibes of Blue October, P!NK, and Regina Spector mostly. Maybe some Alanis Morissette if she's in the mood. She fills in the void of silence every opportunity she has. She loves bopping along and singing to the songs, letting herself feel young and goofy.

Jill Valentine: She absolutely loves Joan Jett and The Blackhearts. I feel like she would also listen to KISS, Led Zeppelin, The Pretty Reckless, and Jem if she's in the mood. If she really loves the song she'll sing along and air guitar the solos that come up, otherwise she just bops along.

Leon S. Kennedy: He gives me the vibes that he doesn't listen to a specific artist but listens to love songs like the sap he is. Peggy Lee and The Fray are the two artists that pop up the most, but his two favorite songs are "I Can't Help Falling In Love" and "I Can't Smile Without You".

Sherry Birkin: Name a 90's pop artist or boy band. Seriously. Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Spice Girls, Mariah Carey, Madonna, NSYNC, if it's from her childhood she will listen to it on repeat. It brings her back to a time when her parents would indulge her and get her the newest cassette tapes and CDs. The few times they went out to the movies together as a family. When things were good. She had so little control over her life, you can pry her music from her lifeless corpse.

Albert Wesker: Now he does give me the vibes that he will tell everyone that he only listens to classical music and orchestra, the real music, and tout the superiority of it. It's what he grew up listening to under the watchful eyes of the Umbrella scientists, raised in Project W, never knowing he was a human lab rat. But in reality, he found it to be very boring. He wasn't exactly a fan of the music his niece Sherry so dearly loved, but he did love the music his comrade William Birkin introduced him to. The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Eagles, The Who, and the Bee Gees were all bands that his guardians detested, but Wesker felt something flicker in his chest when he listened to them. Can't be nostalgia as he never listened to them. Was it longing? A sense of wonder? Regardless, those were feelings he long suppressed when he rose from the dead, and truly became the monster Spencer wanted him to be.

William Birkin: Well, a lot of it is listed above in Wesker's category. William loved all kinds of music from the 70s. Rock & Roll, Disco, it didn't matter to him. It was all so lively and invigorating. Something that he greatly missed out on as he doubled down on his studies and his goal of becoming the youngest, most successful biologist and virologist of his time. Something that he was narrowly bested by Wesker.

Voiceplay Visuals: Boy Bands In 5 Minutes (post 2/2)

Part 2! Let's get right into this! (For part 1 go here)

...There's a lot going on with the outfits here, but I'm assuming it's decade/era-appropriate? (I learned from one reaction video that apparently the poncho/jumper/hoodie thing that Geoff is wearing is something that people used to wear to the beach a lot or something?)

Geoff used to wear a bowtie a lot when he had shorter hair (apparently, though I don't watch a lot of VP's older stuff), but this is basically the only time that we see Geoff wearing a bowtie since growing his hair out (well, wearing a tied-up bowtie anyway)

I did a study/analysis thing on the varying positionings/line-up orders of the group during this video (haven't bothered to psot it though), and fun fact: Geoff spends the majority of this video on the left side of the screen!

This guy is Rek Dunn, who was a production assistant and friend of the group for many years, before he sadly passed away in 2021 (the Halo theme cover that Voiceplay did that year is in honour of him)

The only outfit change done phyiscally on camera and not via quick cuts. Pay attention to Layne!

The absolute drama. Iconic, we stan 👌😂

Backstreet Boys time! The outfits are similiar to what they started the video wearing, but with a few changes. E.g. they're wearing white pants rather than black, Eli's wearing a white fedora, and Geoff is wearing a singlet/tank top (one of the first times (if not the first time) that Geoff has been the only one with bare shoulders in a Voiceplay video, and certainly not the last (hey, if you've got it, flaunt it!))

Back to NSYNC, this time for the song "pop". And yes, if you haven't figured it out already, this section is filled with scenes relating to "pop" and all its meanings/connotations. So in this shot the guys are playing with balloons (which can pop), then they're tossing around bubble wrap (which people often enjoy popping), then they're eating bubblegum (which you can blow bubbles with, which can then pop), then dancing in bubbles/using bubble guns (see previous), and then doing a toast/cheers with cans of soda/soft drink, which Americans sometimes refer to as "pop".

This section alone must have taken a bit of time to set up and film each scene for, but I bet they had a really fun time with it (must be a ton of bloopers/outtakes)

According to commenters, Voiceplay are in fact doing the same choreography for One Direction's Best Song Ever as was used in the original music clip.

(Also I saw part of a 1D music video on a public TV screen a couple weeks ago and I was like "okay but why is Harry Styles' appearance here giving me Geoff vibes? 😅" (I think it was partially the hair, and partially the fact that Geoff lives rent-free in my head))

Geoff flossing XD (he also did it at the end of his Monster Mash video, or one of his selves did it at least)

Earl, Eli, and J are absolutely killing it with the fashion here! (I wanna know how many of the clothes used were already owned, and how many were acquired just for the video?)

Eli back at it again with the sunglasses-as-fashion-accessory (without wearing them), and also I just realized his pants are the same that he was wearing in the Pop section of the video just a bit earlier. Also J's shirt reminds me of the blazer/jacket he wore in the Queen Medley.

Also it's about time I acknowledge those light bars/poles that have been in the background the whole time and changing colours for the different scenes. Eli's the lighting whiz of the group, so they were likely his idea/doing (and he is credited with lighting in the description), and they're definitely a brilliant addition to the video!

I don't know how much rehearsal time went into this whole thing, but Voiceplay did an overall fantastic job at the choreography.

(Maybe I would have been fine doing this video as just one post, but better safe than sorry imo) So yeah, amazing video, amazing arrangement, amazing performance. What more can I say? They might not be boys (anymore), but Voiceplay is definitely my favourite band! 😁

Top Gun Second Gen and Their Go-To Karaoke Songs

It's very clear that Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw's go-to song is Jerry Lee Lewis' Great Balls of Fire. But he saves that song for the most special occasions--wouldn't want to overplay the song he cherishes most.

At the end of the day, his karaoke repertoire reflects his retro soul. Rock, jazz, and blues run through his veins and he's more of a lover than he is a fighter, which is why Frankie Valli's Can't Take My Eyes off You, Frank Sinatra's Fly Me To The Moon, Queen's Crazy Little Thing Called Love, and Roy Orbinson's Oh, Pretty Woman are some of his favourite karaoke songs.

All-American classics are Jake "Hangman" Seresin's wheelhouse. He's almost always one of the first to get on stage and take the mic. If he's going to perform, he might as well set the bar for folks. And you better believe he's the type of person to command the stage, taking the mic off its stand the second he can.

Being the man of the people, his absolute go-to song is Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond. Don McLean's American Pie, the Eagles' Hotel California, Journey's Don't Stop Believin', and Steppenwolf's Born to Be Wild are his back-ups.

Natasha "Phoenix" Trace is the person to go to for up-beat karaoke vibes. Wait until the liquid courage sets in and she'll unleash her inner disco, country, pop diva. She'll always get everyone up, singing, and dancing. And she's definitely got moves of her own.

ABBA's Dancing Queen, Carrie Underwood's Before He Cheats, Spice Girls' Wannabe, Shania Twain's Man! I Feel Like A Woman!, and Cyndi Lauper's Girls Just Wanna Have Fun are amongst her favourites.

Robert "Bob" Floyd sticks to the karaoke classics. It takes a lot of convincing to get him on the mic and it'll usually take him until the chorus to loosen up. But my goodness, when he does, everyone is left with goofy grins on their faces.

Sweet, wholesome Bob only sings sweet, wholesome songs. He has a rotation of songs including Glen Campbell's Rhinestone Cowboy, Elton John's Rocket Man, the Monkees' I'm a Believer, and Electric Light Orchestra's Mr. Blue Sky.

You'll catch him on stage holding the mic with both hands, doing his signature side step move with an occasional head bob--pun not intended but so welcome.

Hero by Mariah Carey is Javy "Coyote" Machado's favourite karaoke song. You cannot convince me otherwise. While he isn't the most skilled singer, he puts on a hell of a production. Because if he's going to sing, then by God, he's going to sing.

And if he's not singing Hero, though, he'll choose a different power ballad. Whitney Houston's I Have Nothing, Jennifer Holliday's And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going, and Céline Dion's It's All Coming Back to Me Now are some of his back-up songs.

Each time he walks up to the mic, he'll half-jokingly, but very seriously preface his performance with, "I'm gunna slow it down for you now." Needless to say, he brings the house down every time.

I mean, come on. The man's call sign is Fanboy for goodness sake. He wears it proudly. Mickey Garcia is a big believer that you can't turn a room like you can with boybands' greatest hits. Backstreet Boys' I Want It That Way, *NSYNC's It's Gonna Be Me, and Boyz II Men's End of the Road (monologues and all) are some of his favourite pleasures that he's absolutely not guilty about.

He's also not shy about honouring his Latino identity with songs like J Balvin's Mi Gente, Enrique Iglesias' Bailamos, Bad Bunny's Yo Perreo Sola, and Shakira's Whenever, Wherever.

Any song he choses, he's singing his heart out and giving it his all. He wouldn't have it any other way. The man low-key has pipes, but he'd rather spend his time on the mic playing it off for laughs than actually showcasing his talent.

You can't tell me that Reuben "Payback" Fitch isn't the life of the party. The man makes it his mission to make any function interesting. Like come on, proposing the 200 push-up punishment during TOPGUN training? If he's going to do anything, it better entertain him.

He's much less strict about his karaoke songs, and probably has the most diverse repertoire out of everyone. House of Pain's Jump Around, TOTO's Africa, Marvin Gaye's Ain't No Mountain High Enough, Lou Bega's Mambo No. 5, Outcast's Hey Ya!, Blackstreet's No Diggity, Gnarls Barkley's Crazy.

Everyone knows his taste is impeccable and it's always exciting when he walks up to the mic. You never know what you get, other than the guarantee that the party will turn up to eleven.

Fives has a bit of an obsession with the Backstreet Boys, but Echo won't let him die alone, so he always sings the little 'Yeah's’ in the song so Fives won’t feel so alone.

Truthfully, there are so many I could post so I will offer... two.

First up is this Eurobeat remix of surface pressure. Quite aside from the way anything Lin-Manuel Miranda makes now he's famous is called cringe about 5 seconds after it lands, the remix artist has artfully layered Creep in the left and right ears on a slight delay mid-way through the song. This has the exact vibes of a lesbian who is one bad day away from quitting her college degree and walking into the forest.

Now we have Same Old Time from Oneboredjeu, who masterfully mixes tracks from two things that I probably wouldn't listen to by themselves into a coherent and interesting whole. I really like how this remix artist manages to make a lot of these pop mashups sound like duets, but this also feels like two women having a heartfelt confession as their love breaks apart, which I think really elevates the whole thing.

If you want more recommendations, I think that not only does Oneboredjeu have an incredible back catalogue of work to try, she also links other mashup artists at the bottom of her main youtube page. If you want to start listening to mashups, she's a great introduction, as she often chooses popular and current songs to mix with earlier nostalgic hits. I was wondering if there are any eng vas or dubs you do like, personally I like the haikyuu dub cause a. you can understand everything said in the background b. it sounds natural to me like people would actually talk like that and c. I think the voices all sound different and fit the characters cause in other animes it's hard to watch the dub cause the voice doesnt fit how I imagined it

I grew up with the Bleach English dub and I think it's alright (tho I prefer Aizen and Kenpachi's original VAs, iirc they changed them for some reason), and the same goes for Durarara and Death Note for the same nostalgic reason.

Baccano also has a very nice dub that I would actually listen to again and think it's one of the few times a dub is just as good if not better than the Japanese version.

Cowboy Bebop's original dub is regarded as the gold standard of English dub voice work, and while I prefer the original Japanese I definitely agree. It's the best and most consistent quality English dub I've ever seen.

Hellsing (the anime and the OVAs especially) is also regarded as good, esp Crispin Freeman's performance as Alucard! And a side note, the parody version of Hellsing also has surprisingly great voice acting as well.

I don't care for the English dub of Free! but the other parody series 50% Off! is top tier.

As far as consistent quality goes, Persona 3 4 and 5 have good casts in English. 3 is weaker than the rest; Fuuka and Aigis have the same VA (she also voices Fuuka's friend for some reason?) but her role as Fuuka is easily the worst performance in the game...except for maybe Ken. Aside from that there are a lot of great English performances: Mitsuru, Igor, Elizabeth, J Michael Tatum as Theodore, Laura Bailey as FeMC, Liam O'Brien as Akihiko, Vic Mignogna as Junpei, the main dude from Strega that looks like methed-out Jesus.

Kingdom Hearts also has good English voice acting, but your mileage might vary. It's a little unfair though considering they've got Disney voice actors with literal decades of experience and talent for a lot of the cast, but still. The cast list is also so funny to me: You got Hayley Joel Osmond, Jessie McCartney, James Woods, David Boreanaz, Christopher FUCKING Lee, one of the Backstreet Boys or NSYNC as Demyx iirc...Kingdom Hearts is such weird bullshit, I love it.

Persona 4 has a lot of English VA veterans that do a nice job. As annoying/grating as Teddie can be, his English voice is way better than his Japanese voice. Like I cannot play P4 in Japanese because I hate it so much lol. And despite hating Amanda Winn Lee as a person, this is one of her best and most well-remembered roles for a reason. I prefer Naoto's original VA over Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, but McGlynn does a fine job. Chie's original VA gives the lowest quality performance, whereas her Golden VA has more personality and is less flat/more accurate to the character imo.

Persona 5 had a large cast of people who I'd never heard before, but I enjoyed all of them! Makoto's VA also voiced Trish in the dub of Golden Wind and despite not liking dubbed!Jojo for the most part, she does pretty dang well there too.

Panty and Stocking is one of the other rare examples of an English dub being better than the original imo, and that's largely due to Panty & Stocking's art style and vibe that was intentionally styled after American cartoons. It's the only time I've really been able to stand Monica Rial's voice, and is probably her last role where you can tell ahe's giving a shit.

While we're talking about English VAs though, for the love of fucking GOD if you like Silent Hill do NOT play the HD collection! Not only is it a disaster and insult on every other level, but the new voice actors are fucking awful. It's odd because almost all of them are industry vets but their worst performances are all in the HD Collection. The original Silent Hill 2 and 3 VAs are miles better even with less experience, and I have a lot to say about why the HD Collection is fucking atrocious.

Hey @bloodlessheirbyjacques the more songs the more fun. So, let's start. The Adam Lamber song gave me Aleena and Thane vibes at first but after listening to it a second time it is clearly Thane. He knew from early age something was different about him because his powers were never blocked, and he did a lot od dangerous bullshit throughout the years which got worse after his mother died from cancers, so he spiraled down for a while until Swea found him and gave him a new perspective, a chance of belonging and made him meet Aleena, what turned everything around. Backstreet Boys.... 1. I hate, and I love you for enabling my inner teenage fangirl me again. I was a HUGE Backstreet Boys fan back then. Fuck, I am old. Anyway, 2. Shape of my Heart is one of the songs I really love. It doesn't fit one of the main character's, but it does fit Nathan, Aleena's grandfather, since he did a lot of stuff he isn't proud of and some of those things did endanger the relationship with Becca, Aleena's grandmother, but deep down he is a big romantic at heart, and he always makes up for his mess-ups bigger than necessary. Klergy, I love Klergy, but this song gives me headaches. There is something about the vibes that speaks to me but I can't put it to the right person yet. For a moment, I thought about Reginald but it was just a blink of a moment. The vibes are wrong for Reginald and lead more towards my five idiots, but I can't say who. Bebe Rexha.... I think you picked this song with someone in mind, and if I am right, I like to know who it was, and you thought of the same OC. This yells Aleena in the very specific situation of how she is in her relationship with Thane and Namira. It's not only because she has never been in love before and everything is new, it is also that in some way both are intoxicating in this oh so good way she can't get enough off, even if she tries to fight how she feels for some time. Deep down, she is deeply addicted to them.
