Tips For Vtubers

Howdy there, I’m Liv and I’m a vtuber much like you, but I’ve been here the whole time so I’m here to compile stuff for you to help make your transition less scary.

To start, here’s is a post with a lot of tips for general tumblr use and here’s one for giving your blog a custom theme.

Beyond that here’s other things that aren’t mentioned but are gonna be relevant for you:

If you’re coming back to tumblr know that you can’t follow from your sideblog, if you want to follow back it will be from your main, as will your likes, replies, asks. Decide what to do with this information now before you settle into a blog.

Fully explore the settings, there's a ton of stuff hiding in there. AND do it on PC at least once, some stuff is not in the app.

Blogs have individual block lists, no idk why either. So if you want someone banned from everything you need to do that manually.

 Also enable tumblr Labs! It’s got reblog graphs which are rad (my beloved orbs) And alternate dashboards, the Blog Subscriptions one is my fave because it means all you have to do is turn on notifications to get all your fave guys in one dashboard.

Contrary to popular belief there is still a porn and adult content community here, if you want to get anywhere near them you have to have age in bio or they’ll smite you. EDIT: I posted more about how to navigate lewdposting here.

Tiktok embeds don't play nice with tumblr for some reason, if you also do tiktok then just reupload your videos and link your account there underneath.

The link post type will show up for your followers but there’s a chance it won’t show up in any tags, so don’t do going live posts like that.

BUT you can straight up embed your stream into your posts! As long as you're using the New Post Editor you should see this menu:

Click the video camera, link to your twitch and bam. There it is. You can also do this with the video post type! If you're ever worried about your post format getting bonked just go through the tags and see what posts that DO make it are doing. Together we can overcome spaghetti code.

General "tumblr culture" is to not comment on posts but its not one thats set in stone, your fellow small vtuber account is probably dying for interaction so comment on posts! scream in the tags! send funny asks! Getting interaction right now is going to be a big comfort during a weird time.

Oh yeah we have ask boxes built in, no marshmallow needed.

ALSO we have pinned posts just like twitter, but as long as you want! Put your ref & socials & art tag (yes you can keep your fanart tags) & your minors DNI & a picture of your cat if you want.

OH I do suggest picking out tags for your personal content if you plan to also do reblogging, makes it easy for newcomers to find what you're doing.

Okay this post is getting so long but final tip: check out custom pages. They're on the custom theme menu and they're basically mini webpages on your blog that can have their own coding. You can do Literally Whatever. Lore! Credit page! Ref sheets! I once put a choose your own adventure where you navigated by clicking specific parts of a picture on tumblr pages. I Mean Anything.

Woah, I've worked on things!

Neon Parasite (I did the music for this way back in my first couple years of college and it kinda sucks but also kinda owns. It was a wonderful experience and Louis was a great guy to work with. The game is small and simple but it's also cheap! Fun time to mess around with your friends in)

Janestuck (Does anyone remember this?? I did music for this back in highschool and it REALLY sucks but also like, luminantAegis worked on it and the owner of the Homestuck reddit said one of my tracks on it was awesome and that really stuck with me. I have no idea if anyone from this project has gotten cancelled in the last seven years but I thought I'd mention it to be inclusive.)

Sonic Holograph (I started helping a friend of mine make a Sonic/Hololive crossover back in like, 2021 when that would've been seen as kind of weird and niche, so now every time SEGA and COVER collab we look at eachother and make Regular Show-ass faces. The amount of artwork Juddy has put out for this is honestly spectacular and I'm so proud of what we've been able to make. It's like a funky fanfic/hypothetic game design document thing, I think you'd get a kick out of it even if you only fall into one circle on this venn diagram of interests.)

Sonic: What If? (I do a mix of writing, music and tons of behind the scenes stuff helping The Sega Scourge out with his YT series and if you like Sonic the Hedgehog stories PLEASE check him out, there's so many cool stories in the works and the effort he and the supporting artists/voice actors put in is something special.)

ALTERFALL (Part of the reason I'm making this Tumblr is the same reason I cracked and made a Twitter a longass time ago: To interact with people who wanna know shit about this AU. I'll probably make a more detailed post about what I actually do for ALTERFALL since Hydro gets a lot of solo project allegations, but tl;dr Homestuck AU. You like Kidswaps? Bloodswaps? Go. Feast. Mostly art rn but there's a lot of story stuff under the hood to come once all the characters have been shown off.)

He shifts against his pillow, restless. He wants to be up. He feels fine, flu-speaking. He hasn’t slept properly since being in here. He wants to see you. He needs to hold you. 

“Hey, buddy.” Snap says, taking his usual seat outside the glass. 

“Did you see her?” Poe asks. He hates being stuck here. 

“Yeah, we had breakfast together. She seemed distracted, didn’t eat a ton. She said she was going back to her room to sleep.” He sighs, and Poe turns to look at him. Behind him is Beaumont. 

“Why is that a bad thing?” He asks. 

“Well, a couple hours ago, several people saw Bryce run into the hangar and take Y/N’s ship. No one knows where he went. So when we heard that, Mak and I went to check on her. She was passed out on the floor of her room, shaking.” Beau says carefully. 

Poe’s hands fist in the sheets. He’s going to murder Bryce. Straight kill him. The Resistance won’t miss much. He doesn’t actually do anything. “And then?” He asks through clenched teeth. 

“We woke her up and she flipped shit. Kicked us out, told us to leave her alone, that she doesn’t need anyone checking on her. She bolted from the room a few seconds after we left.”

“Okay. Fuck this. I’m leaving. I’m out of here.” Poe grunts, swinging his legs over the side of the bed. 

“Buddy, are you sure?” Snap asks. 

“Yeah. I gotta find her.” He looks at Beau. “You know she didn’t mean it.” He says and Beaumont nods. 

“I know.”

A medical droid rolls over and beeps at him angrily. “Can it.” He snaps, grabbing his coat. 

“Want help looking for her?” Snap asks. 

“Not currently. You guys better get back to work before Leia has my head. I have a few ideas of where she might be.” Poe says, exiting the quarantine. 

“Alright. We’re here to help if you need us.” Beau says and Poe is so grateful that he’s not mad at you. 

He claps him on the shoulder, taking off down the hallway. He looks in your room, first. Just to be sure. He doesn’t really think he’ll find you there, but better to be safe than sorry. 

Just as he suspects, it’s empty. Okay, maybe you went to your lab to get lost in some work. He heads that way, unable to stop his eyes from darting down every hallway and into every darkened room. 

Your lab, however, is empty. Your work is put away. It doesn’t even smell like you. With a sigh he backs out, turning to face back down the hallway. 

Someone is turning quickly down a hallway about fifteen feet from him. He’d recognize that hair anywhere. He jogs down to the junctions of the hallways, turning to follow you. But he can’t see you anymore. 

There’s nothing down here but cleaning supplies anyway, nothing you would need to be down here for. He frowns to himself. Maybe he imagined it? Maybe it wasn’t you?

He closes his eyes to think for a minute. When you want to avoid people, when you want to get some peace and quiet, you go to the tower. 

He heads that way, his hands itching to hold you. It’s been longer than he can stand and he’s a little worried that if it doesn’t happen soon, he might explode. 

Five hours later

Poe leans against the wall, hands over his face. Snap is across from him, trying, and failing, not to look amused. 

“She’s hiding from me.” He says finally, lowering his hands. 

“You don’t know that.” Snap yawns. It’s late, almost middle of the night. 

“Snap, I literally saw her running away in the mess hall. Someone called my name and she fled.” He sighs. 

“Okay. So, she needs some space. Let her have it for a little bit. If she doesn’t come around tomorrow, have Leia call her into a meeting or something and talk to her there.” He shrugs. 

Except he needs you. He can’t sleep. And he knows you have to be suffering, too. 

“Alright. Thanks for sticking with me this long, buddy.” 

“Hey. I knew what I was getting into.” Snap grins. 

“Go get some sleep. I’ll see you in the morning.” Poe says, pushing away from the wall. Instead of heading for his room, he heads for the garage. Bryce isn’t that good of a pilot. He would have to log his coordinates at some point. 

He scans through the logs, looking for your signature. It pisses him off to no end that Bryce took your ship. That’s personal. You don’t just fly another person’s ship. It’s like using their toothbrush. 

Unfortunately, the idiot hasn’t registered yet, so Poe can’t fly out and kill him. He swings by the tower one more time to find it empty. He sighs and heads back towards your room. If you’re not there, he’s sleeping on your bed. He doesn’t give a fuck anymore about Bryce. That coward isn’t worth his weight in bantha shit.

Your door opens and the room is empty, but it smells like you. He steps inside and kicks off his shoes, laying out on your bed. He pulls your pillow towards his face, breathing in deep.

If droids could look sour, this one does. Probably because it’s sick of having to stitch you back up. It beeps quietly, angrily. The last one is replaced and you pull your shirt back down. 

It was stupid to run from Poe, but you can easily admit what a coward you are. When you found him sleeping in your bed last night, pillow tucked against his chest, you watched for a few minutes. His breathing was even, his sleep deep and easy. 

Good. At least someone got some rest. You slept in the tower, cold and uncomfortable, but no less than what you deserve. 

Bryce, as far as you know, is still gone. Probably getting as far from you as he can. 

The droid beeps again and you get the message. The next time it has to stitch you up, you’re staying in that bed. 

You get up, walking towards the exit when you see Bryce heading right for you. Panic grips you and you dart left into the ladies fresher. He’s more determined than you give him credit for, because he follows you right in, cornering you against the sink. 

“You can’t be in here.” You tell him, face flushing furiously. 

“Well, I need to talk to you.” He hisses. 

The door behind him opens and a woman you only know by sight walks in. “This is for females.” She says bluntly. 

Bryce grabs your arm and drags you out, pulls you down the hall and pushes you into a dark room. The emergency lights click on at the motion and your stomach plummets. 

In the middle of the room is a table with restraints at the ends. An operating table. A cold sweat breaks out on your skin as you look around nervously. 

“Y/N, I need you to come with me.” He starts. “I found a doctor, a cosmetic surgeon. He can fix you. He can get rid of the scars.” He says, smiling softly at you. “I made you an appointment, but we have to go.” 

Your eyes finally land on him as you comprehend what he says. “Fix me? Fix me?” You demand, your voice turning shrill. “How can you even suggest that to me right now? Do you even know? Do you understand what I went through?” You snap. He takes a step forward and you match it backward. 

How can he even suggest letting someone poke and prod at you and cut you open? 

“Fuck off.” You say coldly, shoving past him and out into the hallway. You walk and walk until you find yourself outside the records room, crying. 

No one will ever suspect you’re in here.

“Hey! Y/N! The General wants to see you.” Setti calls to your hiding spot.

You sigh softly, shutting down your holopad. “Where?” You reply. 

“Uh,” you can hear paper crinkle as she checks her note. “Poe’s ship? She wants to ask you about some things.” She says, and you hear her walk away. 

Poe’s ship? Did you miss something when you came back? You checked every inch of that ship for a tracker. Did she find something you hadn’t? Did you put the whole base in trouble? Your heart hammers in your chest as you scramble down and run to the hangar. 

Poe’s ship has the ramp open and you make your way inside, looking for Leia. The ramp closes behind you and you spin around, startled. 

“Y/N,” Poe starts behind you and you clench your fists. “Sweetheart, what’s going on?” He asks softly. 

You turn to face him, working hard to make your expression cold. You don’t want to melt for him, can’t handle his look of disgust. 

“What are you doing?” You snap. 

“Y/N, please? Talk to me. I thought we agreed-“ he starts. 

“I’m fine. I don’t know why everyone keeps asking. I’m fine.” Your hands tremble at your sides and you can only hope he doesn’t notice. 

“Then why have you been avoiding me?” He asks. 

Your mouth opens as you fumble to think of a reason. “I can’t rely on you all the time! You aren’t always going to be here. I have to be able to survive on my own.” Your voice cracks and he steps forward, looking like you’ve just killed him. 

“I promised you I’m not going anywhere. And I mean that.” He takes your hands gently. “But I understand you wanting space. I’ll give you that until you want me again.” He says, your heart tightens painfully in your chest. Oh, how to tell him that it’s not that you don’t want him, it’s that he won’t want you. “You know where to find me. Just don’t push your friends away. We all need people.” He pulls you against him, hugging you tightly. He buries his face in your hair for a moment before he lets you go. He pushes the button for the ramp and you practically run down and out into the sunshine. You walk through the hangar, narrowly avoiding Bryce as he enters. 

Space. You need space to think. You head for the mess hall, planning on grabbing a caf and going somewhere to be alone. 

You round the corner into the hallway outside the hall and the sound of your name stops you dead. Nya is in the middle, with her best friend. 

“Ugh, Y/N. I wish she had stayed on her little vacation. It was so much easier to be with Bryce when he wasn’t all concerned that she would catch us. Don’t get me wrong, sneaking around can be fun. But it was much better when he could really let go. And Y/N is so fucking annoying. Always crying ever since she got back.”

“She was kidnapped and tortured.” Her friend says. 

Nya scoffs. “Whatever. She just needs to get over it. Bryce says he’s gonna break up with her soon since she’s not putting out for him anyway. He doesn’t even really care that she’s been with Dameron a ton since they got back. He just likes to give her grief about it. Wants her to feel guilty.” 

Red colors your vision. Your hands shake. Something fills you, numb and excited, heat and cold at the same time. You whirl around, heading back for the hangar where you last saw Bryce. 

Snap

Beau leans against the hull of his engine as Snap has his arm buried deep in its depths. Poe left as soon as Y/N ran off his ship. Poor guy is so in love with her and Snap isn’t sure she even knows. 

“All I’m saying is, someone should spill the beans.” He says, twirling a screwdriver between his fingers. 

“It’s not really our call. She looks like she needs something stable right now, and if we tell her how he feels, it might be yanking the rug out from under her. Plus, he might get pissed at us.” 

“Yeah, but, Snap, come on.” Beau jerks his head over to where Bryce is standing, flirting with a poor mech who doesn’t look interested at all. “She deserves so much better than that moof milker.” He rolls his eyes. 

“I know.” Snap stretches his fingers, reaching for the part he knows is right there. 

“I mean, look at him. He doesn’t care about her. He’s a sleaze.” 

“I’m aware. And trust me, there’s nothing I would love more than to just go over there and cold clock him into the next galaxy.” 

Beaumont groans, scratching the back of his neck with the screwdriver. “I hate him.”

“Join the club. We still don’t know where he took her ship yesterday.” 

The door that connects the hangar to the rest of the compound hisses open and Y/N marches in. Your face is twisted in rage and Snap pulls his arm free. Without seeming to even look around you, you grab a massive wrench laying on a workbench. You find Bryce in the crowd and aim right for him, never looking anywhere else. 

He doesn’t even see you until the mech scurries away and he turns around. “Hey, babe. Have you thought about what I said?” He asks. 

You heft the wrench and swing hard, the tool crunching across Bryce’s face. He spins away, falling to the ground and there’s a collective intake of air from the witnesses. Snap is pretty sure he sees a tooth go flying. 

“Wow. Good hit.” Beau mutters and Snap grins. 

You toss the wrench over your shoulder and it clatters away loudly. You still haven’t said a word and it’s slightly terrifying. 

“What the fuck?” Bryce groans, pushing himself back. You kick his hand out from under him and then sit on him, your hands balling into fists. You whisper something and his eyes get wide. Then you attack, punching him while keeping a death grip on his shirt. His hands are trapped under your legs and so he can’t fight back. 

Good.

Snap and Beau watch, along with the rest of the people in the hangar as you let out some aggression. Setti comes over next to them, wiping her hands. 

“Aren’t you gonna stop her?” She asks. 

Beau and Snap glance at each other, coming to a unanimous decision immediately. “No.” They both answer at once. 

“She could kill him.” Setti tries. 

“She won’t.” Beau shakes his head. “She’ll get tired first.” They watch for a few more minutes, seeing your swings slow. 

“The General is coming!!” Someone shouts, and that gets Snap and Beau moving. Snap approaches you from the side, catching your hand as it flies towards Bryce’s face. 

“Come on. Let’s get you out of here.” He says gently, picking you up and setting you on your feet. Bryce’s once perfect face is a bloody mess, he slumps backwards, barely conscious. 

Snap wraps his arm around your shoulders and leads you out the big hangar door. “How’s your hand?” He asks, taking your wrist gently. Your knuckles are bloody and bruising, and your hand is shaking. All of you is shaking. Snap leads you to his quarters with Beau following closely. 

“What did he do?” Beau asks gently. 

“What didn’t he do?” You mutter. 

“Want us to get Poe?” Snap asks, guiding you into the chair at his desk and grabbing his medkit. 

“No. He’ll just get in trouble, too. I’ve spent enough time getting him into trouble.” 

“You won’t get in trouble. No one in that hangar will talk.” Beau promises. 

Snap cleans your hand, wrapping it carefully. “Are you sure you don’t want Poe?” He asks. 

“I’m sure I don’t want him to know.” You say specifically and that’s a good sign. Not like he won’t find out, though. While no one will tell Leia, they’re bound to tell everyone else. He’s going to find out eventually. 

You lean back in the chair with your eyes closed and his eyes are drawn to a patch of red blossoming across your abdomen. 

“Did you get hurt?” He asks, panic rising in his chest. Poe’s going to kill him.

Your eyes fly open. “What?”

“You’re bleeding!” He reaches for your shirt, not rushed or angrily, but you still slap his hand away and flinch. “Shit, Y/N-“

“I’m sorry! I didn’t mean it.” You blurt out. 

“It’s not your fault. But we should get you checked out, let’s get to medical.” He says, holding out his hand for you to take. 

“I can go. I’ll take care of it.” You say, pushing yourself up with a wince, avoiding his hand. 

“You shouldn’t go alone.” Snap says, frowning. “If something happens,” 

“I’ll be fine, Snap. I’m sorry I got you dragged into this.” You shake your head. “Thanks for… everything.” You mutter, heading for the exit. 

Snap looks at Beaumont, standing behind him. “Do you think she’ll go?” He asks. 

“No. No, I do not.”

FINALLY A NEW PINNED POST!!!

Finally deciding to make a new, smaller pinned post for basic info. Hey!! My name's Dogy! I'm queer, nonbinary, and autistic. I tend to hover around the voidpunk spaces in terms of identity, and am very much neopronoun-friendly! They/them and ze/zem/zeir (pronounced like they/them but with 'z's) for me! I'm also 18, and my work is moreso catered to mature audiences, however nothing NSFW. (Please note I'm not super comfortable interacting with folks under 16 personally, but none of my stuff is much different than what most highschoolers read in English classes.)

I'm an artist who does primarily traditional and digital works, and also an amateur graphic design art hobbyist. I also sometimes make music, 3D work, and am a writer as well.

I work currently at a kennel and hope to possibly pursue a career related to animals in some manner, so I also will talk about animal-related topics here as well as reblogging things I find that are related to rescue work.

I'm not on Tumblr often just due to my ADHD and time-blindness, but when I can and see it I will reblog mutual support posts. I believe in not assuming that support posts are always fake, as that can be harmful to those genuinely in need of support. If you see me reblog a post from an account where it's proven that they're actually a scammer, please DM me and let me know (and also link the reblog of mine since it can be hard for me to sift back through them), and I will remove it! My current fandom of interest is Sonic, specifically Archie Sonic. I have NOT finished the Archie Comics, still in the process of reading it, I just love analyzing unintentional shit and making a ton of headcanons. For me, I make canon my bitch, so a lot of the times when I talk about characters it's my own interps and headcanons of them. If you're the sort to get overly upset over things not being exactly canon, my blog may not be the best for you lol, just a fair warning (though if you wanna avoid just my headcanons and still follow me, block the tag "dogyz headcanonz" as that'll be what I use for my stuff!)

My primary characters of interest are probably Scourge (obvious), Fiona, Zonic, and Dulcy, but I love a lotta the other characters too a lot lol. I very much ship Fiourge (Fionourge, whatever people call it), so please do keep any discourse about the ship off my blog. It causes me way too much stress.

Important Update! Please Read!!

I’m yeeting myself into the abyss. And won’t be on here much because of it.

In all seriousness, this is a important update on why I’m not on here as much and when I will return.

For those of you who don’t know, I work seasonally at a summer camp. I mainly work in the kitchen as a assistant to the head chef, but I also do a lot of cleaning. I mainly clean up after guests when they’ve stayed at one of the camp’s cabins/motels. Now I don’t really like this job, in fact, I kinda hate it. But as a broke art student, whose family has been struggling a ton financially this past year, I don’t have many options. And it does pay decently well. Normally the employees come at the end of June - beginning of July, but I’ve offered to come in a month early to help set up the camp. This is a shit ton of work, and I absolutely hate it. I had to do it last year, and I wanted to throw myself off a cliff. It’s extremely stressful and draining. My anxiety spikes up a ton. I’m constantly suffering both physically (I suffer greatly from pains, mainly in my back, hands, head, and wrists), mentally, and emotionally. My hands shake a lot, and it just gets to bad when I’m working and pushing myself so much. So to say I’m miserable during this time of the year is a bit of an understatement haha. This will be my second year working here but my family and I have been going there for many generations.

Working at this camp is a literal nightmare for me. I never really liked going there for long periods of time when I wasn’t working, and now that I am it drains the fun out of the place completely. I’ve had nightmares about having to go back all year. I wish I was exaggerating, but I promise I’m not lol.

Because I’ll be working almost everyday for the next three months (I also work the beginning of September but it’s not the full month so I don’t really count it), I won’t have much time for myself let alone tumblr and any other sites I’m apart of. Unfortunately this means that I won’t be able to write, draw, or roleplay much at all. And honestly, anytime that I spend not working I’ll probably be sleeping because that’s how exhausted I am. You have no idea how many times I just took a nap on someone’s couch last year during breaks. I’ve never napped so much in my life haha.

Long story short, any and all works of mine will be delayed and coming out very slowly for the next while. This includes roleplay responses. I’m very sorry to those of you who are/will be waiting on me to reply, not only to rps but to messages/reblogs and just about anything and everything really. Like I said, my posting schedule will be random and all over the place. I’ll write/draw/respond/rp when I have time and am in the mood. (Which is basically what I do now, it’s just I have far less time on my hands hehe)

This also means that I might come on occasionally to spam a few people now and again, because I’ll be missing a bunch of stuff lmao.

With all of that said; PLEASE CONTINUE TO TAG ME IN ALL OF YOUR STUFF SO THAT I CAN SEE IT WHEN I CAN! I’ll probably miss a couple posts here and there, and I apologize in advance if that’s the case, but I’ll try my hardest to respond/look at everything! Im upset

I said some time ago that I rebloged a fic and then clicked on it and found they used IA picture so i clicked back out becasue i didn't want to support that (also i was concerned they were using IA to writte too)

Not long after i found it again, by accident and didn't realized it was the same and read a farther chapter (that had no IA pics) before i realized and went to the beggining to find out that it was the same story.

Now, the summary is amazing, the chapter i read was incredible, so i said you know what, because one is not suposed to leave shit comment (because you should be decent human beings) imma read this shit but not fully suport it because I don't suport the use of AI for "art" and also i wasn't fully sure yet if they were using IA to write the fic

Is subscribed. After reading all about 6 chapter that were up and deciding that it couldn't be IA writing, because... it just felt real, nothing like I had read before, typos that i commit, also the time between chapters was too long for someone who's using IA to creat a story.

So i continued reading, still not supporting the use of IA, and not leaving a single comment. (Felt like shit, bit I'll get there) The story is a Rollercoaster of emotions, and I'm constantly conflicted with which character to suported or hate on each chapter, because they all have tons and tons of layers

The story just got updated today, with a chapter that in my opinion, is the BEST, obviously yet, because the story isn't finished, but it definitely is a turning point of the plot, and incredibly better than the last one (which was also great)

So here i am, conflicted. Upset and frustrated.

The author hasn't used any more IA images since chapter like... 5? We're way ahead now, and all imaged used are all edited from apps I know and use to create social media feeds chats

I am stupid and I've alway had trouble saying thing are amazing when there's big things that aren't tangled in there too. I mean friendships birthday messages, my own writing, school work, things that are necessarily part of my everyday but do happen one in a while. On the other hand, i am the devil's lawyer. I vail for the villain, always trying to find the good, and the reason on those who are tilted as the bad guys or as bad situations.

The first sounds pesimuistic. But the second one is optimistic. Because that's reality, things can't just be good or just be bad.

What I'm trying to get to is don't judge on either way, and help me figure out if and/or how, let this author know how much their story has shaken me, without being a bitch as well as not avoiding my lack of suport on IA intervention in creative processes.

Manifesto: Proclamation of Artistic Intent.

Inspired by reading the manifestos linked on the yesterweb site, I wanted to write something for myself.  The manifestos on the linked page are mostly about the state of the internet.  I chose to write an artist statement, which happens to be affected by the state of the internet.  I’ll put this on my site later.

Please read this if you’d like to collaborate with me, whether it’s for a commission, zine, or group project.  

My Art

My art is a manifestation of my information and ideas.

My information and ideas may manifest as illustration, narratives, writing, and whatever I feel like at the moment.

My information and ideas should be disseminated freely and accessibly so my evil thoughts can grow.

My art does not necessarily educate, instill values, or provide comfort.

My art is meant to share emotions and experiences.

My art is made primarily for me and my wife.  If anyone else happens to enjoy it, I’m glad.

I publish almost all of the art I make so it can live outside my head and stop bothering me at 4am when I’m trying to sleep.

I unabashedly self-promote with reblogs, retweets, and reposts.  But I don’t waste other’s time with clickbait, popup ads, or spam.

Art In General

Porn is art.  Sexuality should not be inherently shunned.

Technical skill is only useful if helps depict what is in your mind, or if you’re going into the art industry to draw things for others.

Spending eons on practice and studies is only helpful if you want to improve and find joy in improvement.

Make art for yourself, and not the algorithm or for the approval of your peers or parents.

Art is semi-precious.  Discard the art at will, or treasure the art for as long as it brings joy.

Make tons of quick messy sketches to get every idea in my brain out!  

Make a couple of well-worked pieces slowly to enjoy the process.  

Other’s Art

The art I want to see is being made by independent artists and my peers, not corporations.  Independent artists need more support than corporate art to stay alive.

If I see art I love, giving the artists money to survive in our capitalist joker society is a fine action if I can afford it.

If I see art I love, sharing the art helps spread the joy.

If I see art I love, commenting on the art helps let the author know that their art is being shared and enjoyed.

If I see art I do not like, I discard it from my view and mind so I do not waste energy or time on it.  Perhaps that art was meant for someone else to see.

If I see art I profoundly dislike, use it as a learning moment to figure out what I would personally avoid and what I would personally do better.

If I see art that promotes hatred, bigotry, or other fucked up shit that hurts real people, I do not spread the art.  Spreading shit art is a net negative: vulnerable people are exposed, the spread message fortifies other bigots, and bigots crave negative attention.

Projects

My art must to free to view, read, and enjoy.

Paywalls are only for limited physical runs of zines

Paywalls must eventually be lifted when all physical copies are sold out.

If someone likes my art enough to pay for it, they will.

Closing art off with an indefinite paywall to prevent piracy does not mean you are recouping money from people who would not have paid for your art anyways.

Always credit the used works, such as fonts and design assets.

Always credit contributors.

Zines should be easy to DIY and cheap or free for others to enjoy.

Independent art books that end up with hardcovers, glossy pages, 50 contributors, $2000 budgets, and $50 price tags should be called art books rather than zines to respect the craft and work that goes into them.  They should also compensate their contributors with money.

Group zines and artbooks should at the very least compensate their contributors with a free copy of the final product, shipping included.

Values

Actual diversity and intersectionality makes art so much more beautiful.  Diversity has meaning beyond the corporate buzzword of fictional characters depictions.  It means real living artists of every race, gender, sexuality, financial status, and other backgrounds making art, having a platform to share their honest emotions and feeling, and actively being supported.

Art is more nuanced than a 1:1 assessment of moral character.  It ain’t as simple as “wholesome, good, safe people only consume and make wholesome, good, safe art”.  The most abusive human beings can hide behind the facade of a Pixar director making cute kid’s cartoons.

That being said, viewers have the right to avoid any art or artists they do not want to see.  Boundaries should be respected.

Even with things I do not understand, I try to give basic respect.  I assume good faith, and do not debate others’ self-identification.

Bigotry, hate speech, hate mobs, shaming, “cringe culture”, insipid fandom drama, harassment, and devoted negativity is a waste of one’s life.  I do not want to provide a platform for any of that, nor associate with people who promote shit like that.

This list is non-exhaustive.  I hope it gives you a good idea of the artist I am.

Hello New Twitter Users coming to mcytblr: Here's some tips I have for some basic tumblr etiquette things to educate you. Other mutuals and users please reblog with additions and correct me on things (these are from my experience). I am very lazy and also not good at making well organized posts. (and if you're on IOS get that bug fix for the tag ban!).

1. Filter out tags you don't want to see. You curate your on experience on here. And if you still see it just block or don't follow the person. Some people don't tag things at all, and that's fine, some blogs like myself tag a shit ton, and that's also fine.

2. People liveblog on here. It may clutter your dash. If you don't like it, or don't want spoilers, again block the tag or don't follow livebloggers.

3. We don't trend "neg" on here. We tag neg, for tone indicators/people that block those tags. You might also find that some the things neg was trended over isn't usually discussed here unless it is serious incidents, or to discuss it respectfully (at least in my experience). Sometimes, you may see things critiquing twitter's response to situations.

4. There is no fame, no clout, no check mark. Yeah, i mean people are aware of the "big blogs" in the fandom to some extent, but they aren't really given big blog treatment as it's kind of weird. Any excitement you see is likely just because someone likes that blog they follow or is their mutual. Don't bring celebritism here...we don't like that. In fact most of the time you'll never know who is a "big blog" anyway. Someone can have banger posts that succeed and have 400 followers, someone can get small note posts and be a big blog.

5. Don't repost art. Reblog art. Reblog fanfiction (unless you do a rec list), reblog everything really. Likes don't do anything, and searchability is based on reblogs I believe.

6. Back to tags, learn about what tags are. I think it's the first 6 that contribute to searchability(? fact check me?). It's good to do tw tags, or crit/neg tags for people that block those things. Also people communicate in the tags, often reblogging the same post over and over with <- Prev [insert message] to communicate.

7. Ask etiquette: be polite. If you send hate what will happen is you'll either get roasted by op, or just blocked. It's not really worth it.

8. DM etiquette. Don't be weird, always check DNI lists first, again if you are weird you'll just really be blocked.

9. BACK TO TAGS THIS IS IMPORTANT! Do not DO NOT censor tags like do not say t0mm31nn1t to avoid saying tommyinnit. This actively is harmful. People BLOCK tags they don't want to see, and censoring it will actively ruin this process. Again, censoring does not help you if you're worried about trending.

10. Tumblr's search feature sucks. I'm sorry...

11. you may find some of our DSMP lore opinions are a lot different than general twitter's. Personally i've seen a lot of wildly different lore takes there than here. Just warning you all.

12. Don't get annoyed if your followers "spam like or reblog". It's quite normal, especially for those online and actively refreshing.

13. As much as we enjoy cc's learning about tumblr, we don't want cc's to treat it like twitter. We want it to stay chill and sort of reserved and private. Do not try to get all your cc's to come over here.

14. Tumblr is to build community not followers.

cue emotional post!

uhhhh henloe! making this post has me on the verge of tears so please bear with me.

if you think i’m making this post as my version of “emotional otb admin who confesses their undying love for other admins”, then you’re absolutely right.

can i start by saying, i love you all???? now that you know that fact, let’s go ahead. i have never celebrated pride before. it was joining the 1d fandom that led me to explore different identities, that confirmed that i wasn’t a cishet girl. the fandom gave me the courage to ask myself questions, and find answers to them. it gave me courage to change my name, my labels, my pronouns, as i kept on learning more about myself. it introduced me to the queer community, something i had never been exposed to before. i have to thank louis for this. becoming his fan has changed my life. when OTB released, it felt like my “oh” moment. though it took me months after that to actually come out, the song gave me the push i required. which is why, i was overjoyed when i got the opportunity to work on this project.

we had a shit-ton of setbacks, leading to tears and frustration and angry keysmashes. huge UAs that could have changed the course of the project refused to respond to us. twitter was the absolute worst. they thought we were trying to push the attention away from Project KMM, when in reality KMM had died before it even began. before we even began. many people didn’t even know there was a project for OTB. personally for me, it was the worst month of my life. my life was once again torn apart.

through all of this, though, this project was the thing that kept me alive. it gave me a reason to power through the worst of days. it gave me a reason to ignore everything else going wrong in my life and focus. it gave me a reason to not scream when my mother laughed at homophobic jokes, because i knew i had to stay alive for this project.

the friends i made in this time feel more like my family now, instead of my biological one. so this is a post for all of you.

@dyingstars-x : seven!! they came up with the original idea. i don’t know what queer louie spirit possessed you, but i’m so so so glad you decided to post this. that one post had my mind dancing in circles and bursting with ideas. they have been the best parent to all of us, looking over everything, coming up with concepts in a few hours’ time, keeping us sane. idek how to put it into words but mostly- seven’s contribution has been priceless.

@saintqueer : JORDANNNNNNNN!! while all the admins have been working super hard and being amazing, hear me out- jordan is the backbone of this project. she reached out to seven, and within just a few hours of us confirming the project, they got to work!! their twitter talents are unmatched, trust me. she’s been so good at dealing with the UA drama; i truly could never. they also made tiktoks!! i want to say so much but i can’t formulate my thoughts. but you should all hail jordan. they just make me go dshfdkjfkdjhskfndk

@rainboww-paradise : mimi! despite her busy schedule she took out so much time to brainstorm with us in the first few days. (we literally said hi to each other and started brainstorming for themes it was a Mess). she kept on making time to make amazing graphics, and share gorgeous ideas, as well as being a person you can always rely on for motivation.

@thosefookinavacados : A!! they made all the wonderful playlists you can use, as well as handling the drabble fest with me. we were both diving into it with no idea of what to do, but we figured it out together. they’ve been the most hilarious companion in this.

@herefortommo : emma!! she gave you the streaming updates every day, as well as making those uquizzes???? it was really fucking hard, i don’t know how they managed to come up with so much. they always shared tumblr asks and all the nice comments you left on our uquizzes, and it was so much fun to read them. she also figured out how to use shazam and tiktok and deezer 😭

@1dwoodchuck : nicky!! she handled twitter most of the time, and she was SO good at it. like, seriously. she found out more about the UEFA league and kept coming up with creative ideas for tweets. she kept talking to UAs and roped most of them in to help us ✨✨

@fishandfrog and @secretheartmp3 who both helped us a lot at the start, even though they were busy afterwards 💕

° How adorable, you’re attempting to hide your sketchbook from him! It’s too bad that he owns the most pesky nimble fingers in existence and snags the book right from you in a swoosh of bountiful laughter. You really stood no chance against him anyway.

° Your feeble attempts at snatching it back from Paul is Childish™, and in response to your embarrassment, Paul cannot hold himself back from holding it above his head and poking a little mean spirited fun at you. This is definitely Paul that we’re discussing here, so are you even surprised at this point?

° Paul lacks the polite boundaries that come along with normal social interactions; either that or he decides to just completely ignore them. ° Marko is swift, so it didn’t take him that long to figure out that you were drawing him. Yes, he’s usually up to no good with his best pal Paul, but he’s got incredible brains. He had just been hanging back nonchalantly and planning on how to confront you. Lmaoo what a dork!

° His infamous Cheshire Cat grin is obviously plastered all over his countenance whilst he confronts you about this. Marko is also rather suave, he’s definitely going to flirt with you the entire time this is going down. Winks galore!

° “I’m impressed. The jacket looks like the real thing.”

° Genuine inquisitiveness is activated during the entire encounter, and honestly, Marko is quite abrupt and honest: He asks you in total candidness whether you have a crush on him or not. And even though he’s being candid, you aren’t entirely sure if he’s being serious or making fun of you, because let’s be fair, Marko is rather difficult to read, especially if you’re not close to him just yet.

° “If you did have a crush on me I wouldn’t be complaining.”

° In all honesty, this only gives him more ammunition to flirt with and tease you: Two things that he just loves to do.
