I know shippy stuff and canon-adjacent stuff is popular and I'm certainly not dissing those. I like them too, they're a lot of fun! And AUs are great, I have so many!
But man, I wish there was more... idk, emphasis and exploration of the FFXIV lore, and those moments that have to have happened but aren't shown on screen - talked about and written about and illustrated here on tumblr.
That's usually been my favorite part of fandoms, discussing the lore with other fans in-depth and sharing theories, and seeing how everyone's characters would handle those big or quiet moments from the story itself. Exploring how a game mechanic/boss fight would feel from a story perspective, and what it would mean to the characters.
It's not entirely absent from here, but even when I make my own meta posts, even if they get lots of notes, I tend to see very little discussion added compared to what I'm used to from other fandoms. And when new patches come out, there's not a lot of deep talk about the story itself circulating. Maybe I've just been lucky in my previous spaces!
But... I want to know how the WoL and Graha bonded during the Crystal Tower raids. Did they sit around the campfire at night and talk? Did they drink and sing and laugh and argue?
What was it like, recovering from Ultima Thule? How did it feel to set out on the road again, leaving the title of Scion behind? Did they give their friends a tour of Ishgard? Did they visit Edmont? What was it like in the trenches of Ghimlyt Dark, for these characters who have never seen war before, versus the ones who have? Did the WoL help stabilize Lakeland, and tend wounded after the sin eater attacks?
I want late night study sessions with the twins, bittersweet work in the hot sun rebuilding Ala Mhigo, learning to fight on dragonback, Hraesvelgr's brood visiting Ishgard on diplomatic forways. I want snarking with Emet Selch while you help people with "side quests" in Norvrandt. I want gentle moments with Ryne on the road because if anyone understands the suffocating feeling of immense responsibility Hydaelyn and Minfilia have dropped on that child, it's the WoL.
What was it like for the WoL to fight the pirates in Sastasha? To see the women taken captive there? To see the Drowned mutilated by Leviathan's tempering? How did they handle the narrow tunnels and rickety elevators in Copperbell, and the giants angry after centuries of unjust imprisonment? Did they step in Aurum Vale's goldbile and have a shoe burnt off? Did they bring a pet korpokkur home from the Arboretum? Do they carry scars?
Do they take the manacutter out for joyrides? Did Grani recognize the color of their soul, and choose them over the tempered twist of Emet Selchs, or did Emet charge his familiar with looking after them? Have they ever been robbed in Limsa Lominsa? Did they ever buy loinfruit?
Does that goobbue sproutling grow up? The coerl kitten become a battle steed? The wolf pup a guardian? Do the sylphs play games with the WoL when they visit the Shroud? Do they carry a polished shell to remind them of their Clutchfather? Do they stop by the guild to check on the Deftarm whenever they're in Dravania?
What was it like trekking the spindly mountains of Othard, riding a Yol for the first time, seeing the endless plains of green, and the dead white of the Burn?
Do they still have nightmares about Haurchefant, or are they good dreams remembering his smile? Did he teach them to make hot chocolate? Did they stay up all night when the Scions lost their souls, waiting by the bedsides with a candle and feeling helpless?
Do they visit Amaurot, even after Emet Selch is gone? Are they still trying to remember? Did they look up at the night sky in Elpis and feel an indescribable sense of loss?
Was there ever a moment in Endwalker where they almost became a Blasphemy themselves? Did they ever answer Venat's question? Do they know that the love their friends had for them, saved them?

A GOBLIN MANIFESTO
AWE & WONDER AT NATURE - RESIST THE TEMPTATION TO ONLY FIND BEAUTY IN FLOWERS - WE HAVE BEEN CONDITIONED TO REJECT BUGS AND DIRT FOR WE HAVE BEEN TAUGHT TO FEAR SEEMING UNCLEAN. THIS IS COLONIAL NONSENSE. NATURE IS MESSY AND COMPLEX AND ROTTING IS A FORM OF CREATION - EMBRACE ALL LIVING THINGS AND MARVEL AT THEIR PLACE IN THE ECOSYSTEM.
COMFORT IS RESISTANCE - PRIORITISE COSINESS! DOPAMINE DRESS, CUT YOUR HAIR IF YOU WANT, WEAR LAYERS THAT DON’T MAKE SENSE BUT FEEL GOOD ON YOUR BODY. ADVOCATE FOR YOUR NEEDS!
SHARE, DON’T HOARD - YOU ARE A GOBLIN, NOT A DRAGON. GREEDY GOBLINS ARE AN ANTISEMITIC TROPE - INVITE OTHERS TO ENJOY WHAT YOU FIND AND CREATE, INCLUDING NON-GOBLINS - MAKE OUR COMMUNITY IRRESISTABLE
PRESESERVE & PROTECT - NEVER TAKE MORE THAN NATURE NEEDS WHEN FORAGING OR COLLECTING - A FULL BAG FOR YOU IS A CHASM FOR BUGS. RESPECT LAWS THAT PRESERVE THE ENVIRONMENT, CREATE MISCHIEF BY WRITING TO YOUR MP ABOUT THEIR SUSTAINABILITY ACTIONS TWICE A WEEK.
LOOK DOWN FOR COOL STUFF ON THE GROUND, NOT ON OTHERS - PREJUDICE HAS NO PLACE IN THE GOBLIN COMMUNITY. MANY OF US ARE MARGINALISED AND FINDING FELLOW GOBLINS IS A HAVEN. MAINTAIN THE SAFE SPACE AND RESPECT THOSE OUTSIDE OF IT WHO MAY NOT UNDERSTAND US - SHOW THEM JOY IN A CULTIVATED COMMUNITY RATHER THAN DESPAIR AT BEING AN OUTSIDER.

Hi! I've been reading through your blog a bit more, and I wanted to say: it seems like the core of why you are getting this pushback is your conflation of how our oppressors see us, with the language used to describe the systems of oppression we experience. You don't have to tell a trans woman that she's actually suffering misandry when someone treats her like a man. And yet, you insist on this language that many trans people, myself included, find misgendering to us and inaccurate to our experiences, despite calling yourselves "transunity." I hate to say it, because whoever runs this blog clearly thinks deeply about these issues, but it all makes me wonder if you actually care about trans unity, or if you just think you've discovered a superior language model that you're now pushing on everyone else.
I feel like there has been a misunderstanding in what we were saying. We're not claiming that all transmisogyny is actually misandry, or even that is it always rooted in misandry, and we are not forcing on anyone labels that they do not want to use.
What we are saying is that - from the experiences of various people victims of transmisogyny - some of it may be rooted in misandry, in misogyny, in misandrogyny, or in a combination of the three. Our goal is not to force a new framework on everyone, but, to the contrary, to build an understanding of the variety of trans experiences. We're not telling any individual trans woman that she has been suffering from misandry, and we're sorry that it has been interpreted in this way.
Here is the relevant excerpt of the manifesto (p. 5), for reference:
Trans women may experience misogyny (such as unwanted sexualisation for being female and trans), however, they may often experience a kind of misgendering ‘misandry’ (such as the vitriol some transphobes espouse which accuses trans women of being ‘violent males’) and ‘misandrogyny’ (such as transphobic rhetoric which centers around a trans person’s appearance being androgynous and thus not easily sortable into male or female categories

a escrita é minha salvação, o manisfesto à minha existência.

Happy anniversary of Willem Van Spronsen's attack on the Tacoma ICE detention center. Here's a thing I drew a while back. Here's a manifesto that he wrote, it's v good. ------
What follows is the written manifesto of Willem Van Spronsen:
there's wrong and there's right. it's time to take action against the forces of evil. evil says one life is worth less than another. evil says the flow of commerce is our purpose here. evil says concentration camps for folks deemed lesser are necessary. the handmaid of evil says the concentration camps should be more humane. beware the centrist.
i have a father's broken heart i have a broken down body and i have an unshakable abhorrence of injustice. that is what brings me here. this is my clear opportunity to try to make a difference, i'd be an ingrate to be waiting for a more obvious invitation.
i follow three teachers: don pritts, my spiritual guide, "love without action is just a word." john brown, my moral guide, "what is needed is action!" emma goldman, my political guide, "if i can't dance, i don't want to be in your revolution."
i'm a head in the clouds dreamer, i believe in love and redemption. i believe we're going to win i'm joyfully revolutionary. (we all should have been reading emma goldman in school instead of the jingo drivel we were fed. but i digress.) (we should all be looking at the photos of the YJP heroes should we falter and think our dreams are impossible, but i double digress. fight me.)
in these days of fascist hooligans preying on vulnerable people on our streets, in the name of the state or supported and defended by the state,
in these days of highly profitable detention/concentration camps and a battle over the semantics, in these days of hopelessness, empty pursuit and endless yearning,
we are living in visible fascism ascendant. (i say visible, because those paying attention watched it survive and thrive under the protection of the state for decades [see howard zinn, "a people's history of the united states.") now it unabashedly follows its agenda with open and full cooperation from the government. from governments around the world.
fascism serves the needs of the state serves the needs of business and at your expense. who benefits? jeff bezos, warren buffet, elon musk, tim cook, bill gates, betsy de vos, george soros, and need i go on? let me say it again: rich guys, (who think you're not really all that good,) really dig government, (every government everywhere, including "communist" governments,) because they make rules that make rich guys richer.
simple. don't overthink it.
(are you patriots in the back paying attention?)
when i was a boy, in post war holland, later france, my head was filled with stories of the rise of fascism in the 30's. i promised myself that i would not be one of those who stands by as neighbors are torn from their homes and imprisoned for somehow being perceived as lesser. you don't have to burn the motherfucker down, but are you just going to stand by?
this is the test of our fundamental belief in real freedom and our responsibility to each other. this is a call to patriots, too, to stand against this travesty against everything that you hold sacred. i know you. i know that in your hearts, you see the dishonor in these camps. it's time for you, too, to stand up to the money pulling the strings of every goddamn puppet pretending to represent us.
i'm a man who loves you all and this spinning ball so much that i'm going to fulfill my childhood promise to myself to be noble.
here it is, in these corporate for profit concentration camps. here it is, in brown and non conforming folks afraid to show their faces for fear of the police/migra/proud boys/the boss/beckies... here it is, a planet almost used up by the market's greed.
i'm a black and white thinker. detention camps are an abomination. i'm not standing by. i really shouldn't have to say any more than this.
i set aside my broken heart and i heal the only way i know how- by being useful. i efficiently compartmentalize my pain... and i joyfully go about this work. (to those burdened with the wreckage from my actions, i hope that you will make the best use of that burden.)
to my comrades:
i regret that i will miss the rest of the revolution. thank you for the honor of having me in your midst.
giving me space to be useful, to feel that i was fulfilling my ideals, has been the spiritual pinnacle of my life.
doing what i can to help defend my precious and wondrous people is an experience too rich to describe.
my trans comrades have transformed me, solidifying my conviction that we will be guided to a dreamed of future by those most marginalized among us today. i have dreamed it so clearly that i have no regret for not seeing how it turns out. thank you for bringing me so far along.
i am antifa, i stand with comrades around the world who act from the love of life in every permutation. comrades who understand that freedom means real freedom for all and a life worth living.
keep the faith! all power to the people! bella ciao
don't let your silly government agencies spend money "investigating" this one. i was radicalized in civics class at 13 when we were taught about the electoral college. it was at that point that i decided that the status quo might be a house of cards. further reading confirmed in the positive. i highly recommend reading! i am not affiliated with any organization, i have disaffiliated from any organizations who disagree with my choice of tactics. the semi automatic weapon i used was a cheap, home built unregistered "ghost" ar15, had six magazines. i strongly encourage comrades and incoming comrades to arm themselves. we are now responsible for defending people from the predatory state. ignore the laws of arming yourself if you have the luxury, i did.

Kapı her zaman açık. İstediğin zaman ayrılmakta özgürsün. Eğer mutluluğunun başka bir yerde olduğunu düşünüyorsan önüne çıkmayacağım ve bu arada yoluma devam edeceğim.

A Manifesto // An Infernal Hellscape
I wrote this is 2022, when I was experiencing a bout of my typical socialist rage. I needed to vent and I translated that into an angry manifesto sort of thing. I'd absolutely love to do a version of this as an art installation (I have a lot of ideas for how that will look) but that requires a display space, and financial support so we'll see if that ever becomes a reality.
The typed up version of this will be up on ko-fi later today so keep an eye out for that if you want to read this in full!

Canto a Vozes de Mulheres
Poéticas do Canto Polifónico
vimeo
