What other Neil Gaiman work might you like?
The biggest thing to know about Neil Gaiman is that each work of his is a mixture of horror, fantasy, and subtle comedy.
That being said, each of his projects is pretty distinct from one another and there might be some that are more up to your tastes than others.
I haven't read some of his newer stuff (because I largely stopped reading as much since the early 2010s), but I'll do my best to remember what matters in other works.
Horror
The Sandman is a great work for horror fans. It's also great for mythology fans and other nerds, but horror is a major push and pull factors.
Tumblr media
The comic is probably the greatest body of work Gaiman produced and it's recommended if you're a goth at heart and are comfortable with themes of death and humans being gods' toys.
The Sandman (TV) is a great adaptation, but it's very short so far and doesn't cover the best stories.
Coraline is a horror story for children. It doesn't have anything that's not suitable for kids, but it can be viscerally scary to some people. Both the book and the film are great.
Tumblr media
Mirrormask is my personal favourite, it's a low budget film with mindblowing surreal imagery and one of the best soundtracks ever.
Tumblr media
It's about a teenage girl who has troubles with her parents (who run a circus, btw) and who gets swiped up by her imagination into a bizarre world that is being eaten by her depression. Not a scary film, per se, but it's disturbing. However, it's a very warm film and it always makes me feel better.
Fantasy
Neverwhere is set in a dimension of twisted London Underground where everything that's straightforward in our world becomes weird and too real.
Tumblr media
It really tickled my imagination, I highly recommend the book.
Stardust is set in a more high fantasy setting.
Tumblr media
It features kings, witches, ghosts, and a star that fell to the Earth. It has a young protagonist who's not exactly the best or the brightest person, so if you hate such things, stick to the adaptation. In my opinion, the book is just lovely.
American Gods is a darker fantasy that asks the questions: "What if every god people ever believed in became real through the power of their worship? And then what if that worship started fading?"
Tumblr media
It's set in the USA and because that country is such a melting pot, there are many gods. And not all of them are happy. This is the book that gave Neil Gaiman his reputation of a writer who loves weird sex scenes.
Humour
Stardust the film is often compared to Princess Bride. It's lighthearted, funny, full of imaginative adventures.
Tumblr media
Just a very nice film with an all-star cast.
Anansi Boys is a spin off of American Gods, but it's a lot more lighthearted.
Tumblr media
Anansi is a trickster god, so you know things will get funky.
I haven't read The Graveyard Book and The Ocean at the End of the Lane yet, but I hear they're very good as well.
Also, short story collections or Norse Mythology might be a good place to start if you want to get a feel of Neil Gaiman as an author first.

i would like to hear more about the funky rocks!!
okay okay so land of the lustrous starts with you meeting this guy, their name is phos. phos has a hardness level of. does not check notes but squints into the air as if it will tell them the correct answer. 3.5 i think. which is a pretty low hardness level. which means phos can shatter REAAALLLY easily
now, this sucks because there are these guys called lunarians [they come from the moon] who are trying to . not kill the gems, per say? but like. collect them. it legitimately gets more screwed up when you learn more <- happens like 50+ chapters in so we're not talking about that. so they shatter the gems n then pick up the pieces. but the cool thing is that actually you can put the gems back together so long as you have enough pieces? so yeah some guys might shatter but so long as you dont let the lunarians pick them up, they'll be fine afterwards
actually let me drop some lotl lore on you real quick, not about the story but about the before and how these guys work, right.
so first of all, humans used to exist on the planet. its earth, you know? but humans made this robot, right? and the robot was supposed to tell them if any meteors would hit the earth. but this robot LIED and said nooo youre fiiine and they believed it right. and then the meteor hit, and then they were like oh shit. and made another robot but they weren't sure if they could trust this one either and SEVEN WHOLE METEORS HIT which was the end of the world as humankind knew it and so on and so forth
but then organisms rose from the ocean, right. and bonded to gemstones. and these organisms would control the gems, and all together they'd act as a brain, right? and all of them have memories and thoughts and stuff attached to them, so if you loose some, you lose memories, right? yeah. okay glad we got that covered
now its sort of like. how to say. so its explained that humans got split into three parts, and those three parts continue to walk the earth, but its not like thats LITERALLY what happened but metaphorically. symbolism means that yes, thats what happened. humans were split into bone, flesh, and spirit. the gems are the bones
anyway phos is sooooo so bored man. so bored. okay . phos wants to fight!!! like the cool kids!!!! but theyre not strong enough :( they have to be this stupid encyclopedia author which is soooo boring <- phos is such a little shit by the way. kind hearted but they're kind of very selfish. <33] i cant belieeeevveee i have to do this are you kidding. let me fight. i can do it <- they cannot do it
and its. okay let me like. closes trap door over my head, come here if you want to hear more, there's spoilers but also cookies
okay so phos is just. so bored of being. exactly as they are. but it isnt really possible for them to be anything different? they arent human, they can't grow and change the same way humans can [not that. they know what a human is.] but they meet this other gem named cinnabar who is really lonely bc they have poison in their gem that can kill other gems. and phos promises that theyre going to help cinnabar be happy okay. promise. promise promise promise. we're going to get you a new job and youre going to love it okay?? okay
and then the lunarians drop a huge snail on them and then the snail SHRINKS?? and phos picks up the small snail who is now a slug??? who phos can now TALK TO because when she was big the snail slug ate them. dont even worry about it. anyway the slug gets phos to bring her back to her home which is deep in the ocean because shes not only a slug but a ocean PRINCESS who needs to GET HOME and phos walks her all the way there [she transforms halfway there. shes cute] and once they get there they're like okay i dont know what ocean kingdom youre talking about but im exhausted. lemme. lie down a sec
and then shes like hey im really sorry about this AND THEN THE LUNARIANS DROP IN AND GRAB PHOS AND PHOS IS LIKE YOU BITCH ASS WHAT????? and shes like im sorry. but they have my brother. i want my brother back. and then the brother gets dropped into the ocean as ALSO a giant snail and then goes up to the lunarians as a guy. and phos kind of goes "oh... i mean i guess... you wanted your brother back. and all the other gems dont want me. so.. fair trade, yeah" and then slug woman is like . hm actually no. i like you as a person so get out and my brother will give you some of his shell to replace the legs you lost and we'll bring you back to your friends. and the gems, who have been up literally all night looking for phos are like THERE YOU ARE.. MAN... DUDE WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU
okay so now i get to make it simpler instead of. that ^
basically, phos replaces their legs w the shell, which is like. really strong actually? stronger than what theyre actually made of, you know? and generally gems cant do this, but phos can put their organisms into materials that aren't their own? like it doesnt have to be phosphophyllite for it to be part of phos. so phos gets legs, and the legs are super fast.
timeskip, phos goes through The Issues, loses their arms, loses a best friend in the most fucking tragic way, and gets gold arms out of it. these gold arms are like. how to say. like they're not a good karat. its liquid gold. REALLY useful id like to say
the issues again. phos loses their head, gets replaced with the smartest gem's head. lapis lazuli. its. GOD okay so memory is lost every time, you know? like ever so slowly, phos is losing parts of themselves and theyre slowly becoming unrecognizable? and its not even their fault that theyre losing bits of themselves. at first they just wanted to be helpful!!! then they ACTIVELY avoided doing what lost them their arms, but the ice stole their arms anyway??? and then the head thing - they finally got what they wanted, they finally got to fight, and they lost their head for it LIKE..
and theyre becoming less like themself, because theyre forgetting core bits of themself. i think it actually shot me through the heart when phos asked if cinnabar wanted to go to the moon with them <- i dont feel like explaining here but you can ask for context] because it would be a new job for them.
because the story put so much emphasis on phos having first wanted to give cinnabar a new job to make them happy, but phos FORGOT THAT PART OF THE DEAL. phos remembered "i'll find you a new job" and forgot "that will make you happy. that won't make you lonely." and cinnabar didnt even need that. cinnabar asked "will it make me happy?" and phos said "oh, no, probably not" and cinnabar says afterwards, when phos is long gone, that they would have agreed, if phos just said that they WANTED cinnabar to come along.
phos makes me ill because they change so much, but its. to me? phos doesn't fall into the "why didn't he just not turn back." like i absolutely love the story of orpheus and euridice, but i know what people say, and they cant say it to phos. because phos DIDNT turn back. but they got punished for it anyway. are you listening to me. its so dark in here

About gods, afterlifes and universes - My point of view.
This pretty much a not witchy post, but more like a long ass rant of something I had in mind since a long time, buried in myself because I have no one to listen me speak about this kind of weird spiritual stuffs, and I really want to express it somehow. Is my vision of how deities and afterlifes works, having in mind that the world is filled with religions and worldviews.
My grandma (who I didn’t knew but people said was a witch) used to say “Each person is a world”, and with the pass of the years, I cannot agree more.
Not only because each person has their own desires and ideas, tastes and dreams, ideals, thoughts, but also because is true, we are small worlds. Inside us live billons of billons of countless creatures from many shapes, forms and sizes. Since huge cells like eggs, to the smallest useless virus, friendly bacteria, parasites, funkies cells, aggressive defensive cells, fungui in our feets, mites in our skin, blood cells walking each corner of our bodies.
Each part of our bodies has a different pool of bacteria, a different group of cells, almost as if they are some kinds of countries in that small weird moving planet called “us”. Us, with our personal countries, walking around on earth, so different and similar to other people, they with their own personal unique countries. Only between humans, but what between you and a cat? Or a cat and a tree? So many differences. But all based in that ocean of living things that co-exist somehow in balance.
What we know about them? Only because our technology allows us to see until certain point, it doesn’t mean the worlds end there. Humans keep discovering smaller and smaller part of atoms, as if there is no END. Maybe each blood cell has inside millons, and millons inside them, and so on until our minds are unable to comprehend the limits. Our minds unable to comprehend if they are sentient, just because we don’t speak their language. Dang it, we don’t even speak “dog” or “cat” and they are fricking big living things who somehow understand our moods and are able to sense storms and smell carcinogenic cells. For us, ants are just stupid bugs, just because they can’t speak human and use a cellphone, no matter if they work collectively and in harmony in ways that human never did before, no matter if they contruct bridges with their own bodies and harvest fungui in their homes. They are dumb ants.
And we can extrapolate the same to the other side. What’s the world, but a mass of millons and millons of living things, encapsulated in countries, so different between others animals and plants, but all living in that unconscient rock. Because is unconscient… right? Right?
Is not like we can’t speak “earth language” … And to the planet, we are smaller than our blood cells to ourselves.
But maybe the earth does speak. Maybe is speaking all the time with the moon, maybe have centuries long discussions with the sun, maybe they are just going somewhere with Saturn, maybe the Halley’s Comet is just a fly that is doing a few spins around us before Jupiter slap it.
And to our galaxy, the planets are not more than ants. And to the universe, galaxies are not more than ants. And who knows to what, our universe is no more than ants.
Each person is a world. And each world is a person.
And just like that, each person has their own “hell and heaven”.
Some old dude in a radio said this idea: “Let’s pretend my aunt loves me af, and I hate my aunt. If my aunt dies and go to heaven, she will want to be around the ones she loves, including me. But I hate her. Is her heaven my hell? If my heaven doesn’t include her, where I will be? With her?”
I like to think that, in this case, your aunt will have just a copy of yourself. The original you will be in where you belong. And where you belong after die? It depends your beliefs.
My dumb idea is: Your afterlife depends to which afterlife you believe.
You are a Christian who believe in their God and the hell and heaven? When you die, you will be judged in accordance to his “moral code” and you will go to hell (endless physical and psychological torture depending on what you hate or make you hurt) or heaven (with God or with all what you like).
You are atheist and you believe after die your soul just disappear? That will happen.
You are Buddhist and you believe in reincarnation? You will reincarnate in accordance of your Karma.
You are a witch who believe that good souls will go another plane of pure bliss? That will happen.
You are a Muslim? Jewish? Hindu? You believe on Greek Pantheon? Old Egyptian afterlife? The endless void? Parallel universes? What you believe is what you will get.
Each person is a world. And as such, have their own plane of beliefs, heaven, hells, gods, energies.
Who knows, maybe each one of the almost endless living things in and inside us have the same. Maybe our own planet will have a heaven or hell.
Because for us is hard to understand the world in the eyes of other living things. For us walk with two feets is normal. Live inside a box, with a screen in our hands, covered by false furr, drinking water and eating bread is normal. To an elephant, normal is walk in four legs, have a thick skin, a long trunk, eat from trees and wander free for the African savanna. Maybe to our planet, normal is have lava wander in their insides, covered with water, air and crust, dancing around a massive orb of fire in the darkness of the solar system.
And all that make other’s beliefs less valid? Not even close. Everyone must be respected on their beliefs, even if they don’t believe the same than us. If they are not assholes, of course.
What I believe? I’m not sure, my idea is pretty Buddhist in some way. I think after die, our souls go somewhere. Maybe, if we were good, our still sentient souls can go to a place to rest after the struggles of the life on earth, and in some point, choose to reborn as some of the millons of living things in this or other universe, to learn and grow. Maybe, if we were bad, we will born again, in a life where we struggle accordingly to the suffering we induce in this life.
Maybe in some point, after born and grow, we will experience lifes each time richer, until eventually we find out the truth of the existence, the root of all, the ones, or the many, the entity that carry all the universes in their hair.

Northern Minnesota Dakota country police......uhm the woman who murdered her own boy....that reminded me of Ruidoso new Mexico....
And the dream catchers and the candles and the baby deer leg left in the park...
Universiteit Leiden on counter terrorism studies complains that the mother was not a mental.....she was a trained terrorist in biblical studies and maybe murdered a lot of orphans....its having to be a pragmatic scientific biblicalist its these humiliations of college haze ings that cause the violence not mentalism
Needs to make trespassing have meaning....humiliating compared to father educations
I would believe she was a mental though some mentals can have a strong bisexual pseudo politic and mingle in Hollywood circles so some mentals can serial kill....
Alynn devries in natchez Mississippi told me a demonic presence name as to why if it's Samaritan women Jews do not associate
I would believe tunica that her consciousness was really funky.....paranoid.....to do those things.....
Good theory everything complex is simple she probably had very poor cope ing skills with her paranoia and probably was very jokerish that way appeared very catatonic then frighteningly controlled....
Punishers come up to me all the time and try to force me to understand meaningless social theory like trespassing....so if you had to be her and truly possessed by punishers instead of occasional annoyances you would have to be pseudo police instead of trained police also ....
I was told I had to be more British like so I don't have that poor of cope ing skills if I'm homeless I cry if I don't have my little slippers so people like me stay near my friends if my friends want to take stuff that could hurt me from me I let them
The mentals in McKinney texas appeared to have figured out woke virals and dance and had a whole mental nation counter culture so a president was bipolar in the states so some are very high and very low functioning
Thats why I ran away from McKinney Texas trying to mess with my weight perception appeared very intentional then motels that kept wanting money like coming up to where I sleep and it was very used and disrepaired
Then understanding random spontaneous movement as gold digger slurs...or other slang and already understanding movement for video games and football....so they were very intentional people....so I ran away if they were going to be ables instead of disabled...
Phyllis chesler....if people want to put you on sedatives and keep coming up to where you sleep they expect you to have mental sex relationships with people who aren't select match instead the opposite of select match its people who call for sex work videos of people actually really uncomfortable and unattracted with each other
I would notice this as more liminal around black men...Jerry and Aaron are like my relations I was visiting my like kin in Biloxi
Willa Cather they are like my folk community
Kathryn turtle......fascistic instead of people allowed north south migration would view penetration as the movement of the ocean.....
Was the fantasy about the motion of the ocean or was it screw your career

also- how she feels about each choir member individually-
noel- i NEED them to be friends. the only two out kids in uranium. they stick together and paint eachothers nails and gossip and noels mom is like the only parent that likes her. they also daydream together about what it would be like to get out of uranium, share crush stories, etc.
penny- mad respect. she’s like if river just went HAM. like rivers actually just like a pretty respectable lad despite being viewed as feral. she treats everyone nicely and bonds with every teacher who isn’t horribly religious and therefore uses the religion to justify homophobia… anyways that’s off topic. anyways she likes her like i think they don’t really talk much but they get along so well whenever they do
mischa- hes… intimidated by mischa’s whole rapper persona thing and doesn’t really know what to make of mischa. thinks his fiancée is fake but pretends like she believes him because she wants it to be real for him. i think she can tell that talia brings out a very sweet and passionate side of him so she hopes that she’s real despite having serious doubts… but to be fair she might also have online friends some who’s she to judge. also tries super hard to understand him bc in my universe nischa is at least half real and noel def had a crush on mischa for at least a bit so she tries to see beyond the autotune rap
ocean- oceans… well… a lot. i think she knows about oceans weird hippy parents so she tries to get along with her and not judge her. but you already know she’s gossiping about her with noel. girl says some batshit stuff sometimes and you gotta tell your fellow queer about that. they don’t make up the rules (shrug emoji)
ricky- doesn’t really get to know them all that well i think? like i think they are all for like who ricky reveals themselves to be during the actual events of rtc and they gain a new level of respect for ricky but like… they don’t really know too much about him before then? like don’t get me wrong they get along well and they have the kind of friendship where they say hi to eachother in the halls. maybe they compliment eachothers funky accessories and crap but like they just don’t go out of their way to talk to eachother if that makes sense?
connie- i would DIE for constance anyways uh. again i don’t think they’re like besties but they get along. they tell eachother jokes and giggle about silly little choir things. river might’ve had a little crush on constance like in middle school because she like is nice to her in a time where not many people are. and that encourages other people to be kind to her!!! and he gets a little crush but is over it within the first few months of being in choir together. she admires constance’s generosity but they don’t really hang out like outside of school one on one. only w/ the rest of the choir
OOOUGH YES GOOD RIVER LORE !!!!

THE BOYZ 『Christmas in August』 - Album Review
Tumblr media
Allkpop
THE BOYZ—no not the TV show—is a boy group (shocker) that I know very little about, besides the fact that they are supposedly very good and I should check them out. Perfectly timed, I got a request to write a review for this album. (Send me asks on my Tumblr if you want something reviewed!) If life has taught me anything it’s to always believe random people on the internet, so let’s see how their newest album PHANTASY Pt.1, Christmas In August, holds up to my standards. I rate on a balanced scale so a 5 out of 10 means I feel neutrally, not that I don’t like it. Enjoy!
LIP GLOSS - 6.5
This song has an upbeat, summery beat that feels like a cross between new Harry Styles and Prince. It’s pleasant and groovy. Some of the elements feel a bit disorganized however, which is off putting for a song that requires the rhythm to be tight and right in the pocket. It works well as a title track but could use a little more catchiness which it lacks because it’s a little generic. I love the energy though, classic summer song!
Passion Fruit - 7
I love the sampled beat! This song also has a lot of funk but is a bit darker feeling and has a wider sound spectrum. I love the way the bass and the rapping in the verses overlap. The prechorus draws things out but doesn’t drop the tension at all. The chorus is a bit of an anti drop, letting go of all of the tension and build from the prechorus, feeling much more hushed. Classically, it scales up again in 8 bars but still feels somewhat laid-back. It’s much more energized than LIP GLOSS and I’m living for it. It’s not adventurous but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
Lighthouse - 7.5
This one is not at all uplifting. The beat feels somehow underwater and ocean-cave-like if that makes sense and lacks the funkiness of the past couple songs. The chorus is lighter and more subdued, but when the post chorus hits it feels massive and dark. Massive modulated synth basses back screaming vocals for a mere 4 bars in a way that makes me want it back more than anything. The second verse doesn’t do that many interesting things till the end when it brings in some crunchy harmonies with some extra instrumentals. The post chorus has even more oomph this time around and thankfully lasts a little longer. A post post chorus concludes the song excellently. The whole song feels very reminiscent of being under the ocean. Lovely stuff.
Fantasize - 8
Arguably the first epic on the album, this song starts with a stripped down drum and bass verse and adds more synths in the prechorus to build tension to yet another anti drop…getting a little old. It feels very After Hours (The Weeknd); It’s very much a reference to the 80s, just like After Hours. We love an 80s K-pop banger, just like the iconic LA DI DA. I like its ability to simultaneously be this big power song but also be pretty laid back in the chorus and verses. Certainly a banger.
Fire Eyes - 4
The kick-snare beat, pluck bass, and fun quick vocals are indicators of a classic light pop song. The vocals are definitely sub-par, which is unfortunate because there’s not very much beat to back them up. The melody is nothing to speak of either. I would say it’s the first clunker so far, which is pretty good overall. It’s not painful, it just doesn’t feel like anything special. Light pop has never really been my thing anyway. The end has some more synths, but that doesn’t change much for me.
Fairy Tale - 5
Another one with ‘meh’ vocals. The autotune is unsoundly, I guess you could say. The melodies feel a bit all over the place in the verse; They don’t really connect in a way that they should. The chorus turns things around a bit though. The arpeggiated synths are really nice to listen to. It’s definitely refreshing to hear a final track that’s not just a flat boring ballad. It has flavour for sure.
Final Thoughts
A great summer comeback! The sealike and tropical vibes keep going throughout the album. Super fun but also has some pretty impressive production in it. The middle of the record is really solid. I give this album an overall score of about 6.5 for that reason, with my favorite song being Fantasize. I didn’t love everything on it but I can say that I’m overall very satisfied with it. Some interesting stuff from THE BOYZ, thanks for recommending this to me! I’ll have to listen to some of their other releases. Thanks for reading!

ahh aighto, so following the guide list and watching part 1 n 2 in close succession, 3 then 4 then rohan ova, then 5 and 6. on the liveaction one, ngl i wouldn't really have much complaints about the fact it's not art, always fun to experience a fandom in its entirety like all the cool different mediums and stuff like that, especially for how long jjba's been going on for, there's so much to explore :D
okay not gonna lie, i may have desperately needed that warning about no characters being safe lol i get way too invested and attached to them so the head's up is appreciated ;; (/gen) i don't know why i'm kind of very curious about that though now, i haven't seen any author ever just straight up kill of characters (well i have but ya know?) especially main ones? got me on the edge of my seat now ngl. i'm also wondering whether i should just stave off the manga for now till after i finish the anime and that jazz, dunno to be able to binge the manga and feel it properly tbh
and ohh alright, i was reading another guide just now and it linked the "Stone Ocean OP / Opening" from yt and i see what you mean by cgi, i dunno how they do that so i'll assume it's like 3d models, the way the 3d bits fit the 2d animation style looked so cool and aaa the expressions are just so uniquely styled and all from what i've seen of a 1 minute clip lol but glad u were still able to enjoy the season tho tbh (/pos)
and oh!! there's tarot connections? aa i'm so excited to see how they do that, it's always super fun to see those small little references and u can giggle since your like "yay i got that ref :D" (/lh/hj) might have to grab some kind of bingo to see how many refs i catch haha (/j) but alrighty, noted, no research on kira will be committed, i mean aside from me searching for his design yesterday lol (/lh)
i don't know if it classifies as spoilers much but from the guide i read it said that around part 3 they switched to entities called strands with random powers? that was basically the gist of what i got before i stopped reading so is that one of the differences that separate part 1/2? but oh wait what? why would they say to skip :(? isn't it just more fun in general to start from the very, very start? and oh! joseph! i believe you've mentioned him before but i never heard of jonathan before, his hair looks super cool tho omg and no cause fr :( the uniqueness is part of the appeal isn't it? jjba already has the reputation of being: funky, unique and just being so alive, i don't get how someone would start watching an anime with a rep like that and not watch the first 2 seasons just cause ;; (/lh) awh help i'm getting attached to joseph now, he sounds so sweet tbh (/pos)
and yooo i get why you said "they really did that just cause they could" now" tbh that's a tad more impressive as opposed to just doing the special effects to big scenes, kinda feels like a flex about the artistic control they got over the season tbh (ya know, since like- creators don't really often get that much artistic autonomy with their shows anymore?) i really like that bit now actually ill be honest (/gen)
and yes rohan is for real representing all side-characters doomed to only appearing for like 5 minutes or having no voice lines lol (/joke/lh) but ahh i'm actually interested in his character development now, the sillyness of him being the only one that could publish manwha properly whilst everyone else couldn't has piqued my interest xD (/lh) oh wait no, your point does actually make a lot of sense though if people demand utter copies from canon then it wouldn't really be as fun tho i dunno, creative liberties are very cool and ngl i could see it somewhat bombing if they did make it irl anime type ya know? idk but seems like the kind of thing twt would poke fun at :') (/lh) i'm glad about how it seemed to turn out though, poster looks super cool too
and oHH you like aot? yay :D! i haven't watched in a while but unfortunately, i may have spoiled myself- kind of? i've seen the designs and new art style but the lore lost me even before i last watched a couple of years ago, have you caught up with the manga? what's your thoughts on the story and just general stuff like that if you don't mind me asking? feel free to not censor spoilers for this one, my brain's already pieced together bits of lore whenever aot would go trending on social media lol (/lh/nf) but yay hope you had fun with your brother while you watched it! (/gen)
i dunno why i always imagined that motion to be like a croak-type 'laugh' lol, but yeah denji's character definitely seems very funny haha tho course there's the serious story bits, not sure why but he actually somewhat reminds me of mineta? albeit of course denji's a lot more fleshed out and established (i'm not really caught up with the bnha manga so i dunno how mineta is currently, though tbh the similarities kind of end with their primary motivations centering women? (i dunno if i phrased that right, i hope the idea got thru tho ;; /lh)
wait oh noo, i've seen the anime already but this clip compilation is actually so sweet omg ;; i love yor but for some reason the first few episodes of loid being practically a single dad has my heart in a vice grip lol, they really did do the family dynamic between them so well (/gen) and ohh what are your thoughts on uhm- what's his name? yuri briar? yeah that's his name, the uncle and niece dynamic between him and anya was adorable to see lol
i finally found an proper working site with the english trans for the comic lol, i myt finish it in abt a day so i can ask some indepth questions about that when i do :D (if you don't mind ofc!) ngl being able to relate to a character however flawed really shows how well the writing was done (/pos) and wait that frame actually looks so pretty omg?? the artstyle is to be adored tbf, there's so many details and you can almost tell the emotions even without the text woah. and ohh! wait his been your layouts? i saw the holding knife banner but i didn't recognize the artstyle till you pointed it out (/lh)
help naur,  disliking sm that you don't remember his name is very cool lmao(/hj/lh) but oof, i already don't like him from this one frame i see,  ah- i'm kind of excited to see this dude that comes before him now lol. and yeah the 'brown haired boy' archetype is definitely a hit or miss, have you ever watched 'a silent voice' by any chance? i can see your fond of found family/slice of life and genres like 'killer in love' (assuming you read from the genre /lh, eng is failing me rn im srry) what are your feelings or thoughts on other genres? maybe like- time travel/romance/reincarntion (is that just isekai actually?)/comedy/action maybe? i heard shield hero was pretty popular, do you like that?
honestly, i get how you feel about one piece ngl:') i've watched a ton of analysis videos on that but it's always a whiplash to see the diversity in the male characters then see the female characters, coming from a vid i watched they said "It's like there's no middle ground, your either made into the standard body type (the girls in the images:') ya attached ) or your made 'grotesque' (the video cues a photo of big mama)" tbf i don't actually know big mama's character and there isn't really anything wrong with being that weight but i do get the gist of the idea the vid was talking about (artstyle side ofc),
and oh, i''m gonna be honest i've never actually understood the whole highlight thing, i always assumed they were all sweating when i saw the shine if that makes sense (/hj/lh) but yeah, i can get how it's p much  a redflag or at least can makes someone uncomfy (/gen)
and yay, ty for clarifying on that, i don't realize how much the text piles up till i send the ask ngl, and oh wait- i never really noticed the ideas might have felt disconnected tbh, flowed p fine for me though i may just not have noticed it /lh)
and oh, i don't really mind it lmao, feel free to call me mikey or custard (it actually sounds silly in a /lh way lmao haha /pos/lh) feel free to choose whichever, i don't really mind tbh
last bit- omg min (r you alright with me calling u that btw?/nf) did jjba s1 outro make the "we'll be right back" meme sound?? i'm questioning everything i know rn (/j/lh)
happy morning (very long response)
(also poorly formatted. every line break is answering its corresponding one in ur ask) (in most cases im so sorry :sob:) mhm!! theres a whole lot of extra stuff to read aswell-- like after part 4 araki didnt just make the rohan ova, he also made "dead man's questions" which you probably should also read (not watch as theres no anime version) after part 4-- it follows a character who dies in part 4 which is why i wont say ANYTHING about it. i heeaaavily advise you to not even search it up- like at all its mc is a MAJOR character spoiler like not until youve finished part 4 okay
also, despite no character being safe, i wholeheartedly push you to still love and care about every character your heart Will. shatter atleast once, but thats the fun in it really? i started jjba after watching the original naruto, so the first time a main character, like a *main* died i was just shellshocked the entire time i was waiting for them to bring the person back cause it was like You can't be serious? i REALLY dont wanna gas it up but the ending to part 1 was genuinely wild aswell W series
for the stone ocean cgi i didnt really mean the into but in animation itself for some scenes they used like 3d models and such for the powers and effects, and it sometimes might not be noticable, but when you see it. you see it and its like theyre really doing that and its genuinely so cool
the tarot connections are mainly part 3's thing- the way they names most abilities at least my favorite being death (13) mainly because the episode had me SO intrigued- honestly my favorite jojo episode other than this episode in part 4 (will not disclose [spoilers] but its the "bites the dust" episode- youll know it when you get there) hearing the ability names; it was always great to go "hey i know that band!" but i must say if youre watching the anime with subtitles, or in dub, what you read is not the stands name (or hear if dub) the stand name in most cases, will not be the same as it was originally, as well, copyright purposes really, so in western versions the name the person says (for sub) will not line up with the subtitles man in the mirror for example in the subtitles is reffered to as "mirror man" , so if you get to the part with stands, just know you might not be able to like get some references unless you listen to the japanese name not that it matters it just popped into head lol
and yes thats the big change really, the reason people say to fully skip part 1 and 2 the lack of stands which is so childish.. like really? you dont like the main fundamental parts of the series cuz they dont have big punchy monster powers? i assume youve met johnathan by now, judging byyour comment on the ending music YOU WILL (PROBABLY) LOVE HIM hes just a sweetheart like a mary sue mc but in a not mary sue way
yayaya :DD the team behind jojo REALLY can take the liberties they want and thats probably because the manga/araki is weird as hell like think. uh. spy family you just couldnt do the stuff you do in jojo there, not even story wise but art wise everything is so "polished" and set? like i dont wanna say polished, because jojo is *very* sleek looking but like you get what i mean
where was i.... honestly, jojo side characters (unless theyre like minor antags that get beat in one episode) are really prevalent as the seasons go on and one thing i can REALLY applaud araki (as if i havent been applauding him for EVERYTHING) is that he doesnt forget characters if you meet a side character that isnt evil, you Will. meet them again at least once something i like in part 4 (can you tell its my favorite part?) is that all the characters sort of have their own episode (even the sidest of side characters) when you watch it itll make more sense, but like the side characters arent just plot devices i guess youll see them roaming the street and the characters'll walk past the same bg characters multiple times, and that bg character genuinely wont matter i think it goes hand in hand with the whole everyone knows everyone small town theme but it's still super cool and yes!!! i get so dissapointed when i see irl anime reboots and they are literally just cosplaying the characters nooooo!! the point is that its in real life!!! make the story your own!!! yeah i loved aot :D its not a favorite of mine but its top on my lest i should do like a tier list or something of all the mangas/animes i can remember ive watched ive watched a whole lot actually theres not a lot else to do when youre a shut-in :sob: im all caught up with the aot manga the ending. had me shellshocked genuinely had me blinking like.. thats not okay where was my happy ending??? my overall overall thoughts are is that.. well.. i really love when mangakas just through your expectations out the window and thenh grabs them back and spits on them and throws them out another window just to mess with you so i loved aot; the lore behind the titans and everything? confusing but once i got it they had me rolling over in my bed sorry if ive been getting off topic alot by the way . _ .
croak type laugh is what i meant thanks for giving me a solid term  and !! what i like about csm is actually something i saw in a rant on reddit and i have this issue where i repeat what ive read or heard verbatim solike. what im saying next is not only my thoughts but csm isnt really.... about the lore it isnt about the backgrounds and the world building its about denji and his personal growth and!! the growth of the people around him too https://www.reddit.com/r/ChainsawMan/comments/103xnqk/rant_i_hate_how_people_misunderstand_the_point_of/ ^says it much better than i ever can also... i think the biggest difference between mineta and denji is that denji knows what consent is also that denji is a person, whilst mineta is sorta just his character trait (one was made to be disliked, one made to be liked aswell) i am So glad youve seen sxf its just so charming honestly like,... i love happy slice of lifes sm nichijou, lucky star, shows like that and spy is just such a good show, its heartwarming whilst also definitely being about a spy trying to safe the country by adopting a kid and getting married the family dynamic is just c: -- i dont really love or hate yuri him and anya are cute together but... ive never really liked the obsessive brother trope and that Is yuri's entire character mainly so idrk how to feel about him hes not a bad character though i will say
and yES!! when u finish it i'd love to hear your thoughts and questions  and!! being able to like characters that r super bad people is such a major sign of good writing and having bad characters that causes your reader physical pain is also a sign of good writing
Tumblr media
i genuinely love this artstyle it feels full of color. and is in black and white :kneel:
nameless white haired guy is just really insufferable from what i remember hes just gassed up too much by the people that surround him so his ego is the size of the lotte world tower the dude that comes before him comes into the manga EARLY like EARLY- chapter three i think theres another person just like him, more like him than the guy i was referencing, "arata" hes bad too but not.. as bad. the guy i was referencing assuming youve read to atleast chap 3 is the hooded weird guy with black hair I can't remember his name either. i love him though his name is just not said other than one time i think; (sorry this is so..... discombobulated- m reading ur ask then directly responding here. i need to start using transitional phrases) i have watched + read a silence voice, i loved it but i watched and read it in like the same 2 days so i cant tell you small stuff i liked its like cramming studies before a test. you absorb it for a day but afterwards youre only left with how you felt- in this case i remember crying at the end- and the ending but i dont remember specifics or like the traits i loved minus.. nijimiya? i think? was a sweetheart. genuinely adorable i loved her and her little sister as well as shoto (i think is his names) character development. kids are assholes; he was an asshole kid and he grew up and was Not an asshole kid whats not to love for other types of genres... i like horror but i dont like horror mangas/animes that are 'scare' horror idk how to describe scare horror but like.. if stuff r creepy just to be creepy its just not enthralling i love psychological horrors though things like oyasumi punpun or junji ito's stuff (notably uzumaki) i like dramas aswell but like. neon genesis type i think you could sum up my taste as things that are depressing at their core... minus slice of lifes. and like every other romance
Tumblr media
i think those would fall into the isekai category for comedy and action though i dont mind it honestly all depends on the thing itself-- i dont like sports mangas but i watched blue lock since it looked cool to me and i didnt hate it not a favorite, but its not under like c tier i havent heard of shield hero honestly-- but i did check it out the designs are nice but i dont think ill watch it
the ONE reason i wont watch one piece is the femals character designs i know its like a 1000+ chapter manga, made by a male mangaka which is a bad sign because to make manga, you must like manga people who like manga enough to write it probably do not see people of the preferred sex at all, so like yeah hes never met a woman other than his mother so he cant draw them but come one you mentioned her so i have to bring her up
Tumblr media
come on man. is this really it? just like you said, its either they fit the mangakas beauty standard for women or they are grotesque theres no in between at all and the men designs are so different and unique and vibrant!! he could make more unique female designs he just doesnt :sob:
for the highlights on skin type thing. i have exactly one example in mind- now as a preface peni parker (the girl) is fifteen miles morales (boy) is seventeen im not insinuating anything being illegal here, and if you think that it wouldnt be my point, so ihave to make a point here that that is not what my problem is as a second preface, miles morales looks like this
Tumblr media
i sound silly as hell right now. "of course miles looks like that- whats your point? arent we talking about art highlights??" (art is not mine. of course it isnt its.,... look at it...)
Tumblr media
I'm not going to comment on the bulge. I won't comment on his lips. I won't even comment on the fact that this is ship fanart, for a ship that... if you've watched itsv or atsv just feels wrong the one thing i immediately picked up on was how they highlighted that line on peni's thighs theres alot of stuff you can just tell by an artstyle the person who drew that i can honestly say is not a good person even if they didnt draw miles like... that... i wouldnt trust them around children highlights alone my point originally wasnt that i didnt like how they look, it was more that you can tell alot about people by the way thy draw just like how you can tell a bit about someone based of their vocabulary the person who drew that Is a pedophile i can just feel it things like that
I DONT MIND THE TEXT PILING UP  IT MAKESME RLLY HAPPY TOI RECIEVE THESE I AM DELIGHTED THE FLOW IS ALSO FINE!! u can call me whatever (min, minjae, minmin, minpal, 8, 8pal, palpal... i dont think theres any other names associated with this acc)
and last but not least the end IS the meme i had the same realization youre not alone

The Campbell Cruise au (Davey and Jaspers time on the cruise)
Kinda just a quick explanation of this stuff along with a bit of extra info. It's not super far off from the actual show it's kinda just a few bits are switched up and its on a cruise instead of at a camp. Once again some of this might change but for now this is how it is. Also still very bad at explaining stuff. Also I am tired.
I'll write some info about their childhood and possibly stuff leading up to when they get in contact with eachother again sometime soon.
Cerfew:
Kids aren't allowed out on the ship past 10pm while the adults are allowed out till 11pm. This is so that after 11 anything that needs to be cleaned up can be and so nobody is snooping around and getting into trouble (Also the lights are quite dim at night so it can be hard to see which isn't exactly the safest).
How Jasper dies at the end for 2 minutes:
Davey snuck into Jasper and his parents cabin asking him to come with him to look around after curfew. Jasper obviously said no until Davey called him a square. Jasper tried to make the excuse he was only going with him to make sure he doesn't do anything stupid.
Mr. Campbell while getting ready to take a boat out to get a safe that fell in the ocean the year prior catches them out past curfew and decides to take them with him to help him out.
He refers to it as lost treasure to keep their interest but Davey is having none of it.
After awhile of silence while they rowed to their destination a dolphin swims up near their boat.
Jasper points it out and Mr. Campbell says they're friendly creatures so Jasper took out a twinkie he happened to take with him and held it over the water for the dolphin.
The dolphin not only got the twinkie in its mouth but also Jaspers arm. He starts thrashing around trying to get his arm free and yelling for help which freaks the dolphin out and it pulls Jasper out of the boat and into the water.
Mr. Campbell does not stop rowing despite Jasper literally getting pulled into the water saying that he'll be ok for a few minutes and that they're almost there.
Davey takes Campbell's GPS and chucks it in the water explaining that they need to save Jasper.
They turn the boat around and don't see anything as it's quite dark and Jasper is underwater.
Davey remembers Jasper mentioning his LA Gear light up shoes at one point and starts looking for any blinking lights in the water surrounding them.
Once they see the lights from Jaspers shoes they make their way over. Mr. Campbell jumps in and kills the dolphin; putting it and Jasper in the small boat with them. They start heading back to the ship since Jasper is very much unconscious and there's only one member of the crew that knows how to administer CPR. Good ol Gregg coming in clutch.
Once they get on the ship Jasper says bye bye to the funky world and dies. Epic. Anyways his spirit leaves his body and he follows Davey and Mr. Campbell to Gregg's cabin where he's finally given CPR. Jasper starts panicking thinking he's actually dead for good but is pulled back into his body after almost a minute. After being brought back his several bites and scars are taken care of and he's taken back to his cabin where Campbell tells his parents Jasper fell over a railing while breaking curfew and was attacked by a dolphin.
We love leaving out information and avoiding taking any responsibility.
Jasper was too shaken up to bother bringing up the truth for awhile(his parents didn't believe him when he did bring up that Mr. Campbell took him an Davey out on a boat when it happened an Campbell tried to leave him) and Davey was gifted a Keychain from the gift shop and saw the whole thing as a lesson from Mr.Campbell.
A falling out between friends:
Between Daveys new found constant positivity and him believing every lie he was fed by Mr. Campbell; even praising the man that tried to leave him for a safe as he learned thanks to Davey talking about his pov of the whole ordeal; it was hard to be around him especially with the frequent nightmares and consitent hatred for Campbell and his scuffed cruise.
Of course he cared about Davey and it was nice to see him getting along with and overall treating his mother better but he wanted Davey to see things for how they really are. With the growing annoyance of him also came a growing concern of how things would turn out if Davey continued to idolize Mr. Campbell. So on the last day when they were asked to go to a part of the ship that was off limits to get something for him Jasper saw an opportunity to get dirt on him and not only show Davey the truth but possibly get the cruise shut down.
Jasper runs off and finds a room with a bunch of different signs and stickers saying not to enter and Davey chases after him telling him he shouldn't go in.
They both end up going their separate ways. Jasper gets pictures using his parents disposable camera but when he goes back up on the deck to meet up with his parents he trips and the camera slides off the ship and into the water.
When he gets to his parents Davey and his mom are already gone since the ship has docked and everyone's leaving.
Fun lil bits of info:
• The safe fell into the ocean after Campbell loaded it up onto a helicopter and when it tipped the safe slipped out since it wasn't secured in any way.
• Campbell Cruise was supposed to be called Campbell's Cruise but Mr. Campbell forgot the S.
• The bandanas David and Jasper wear are shirts Jaspers dad bought them from the gift shop.
• Jasper was constantly anxious and on edge for the rest of the cruise cause he'd occasionally hear or see spirits.
• Jasper has an extra scar on his chest from when Mr. Campbell was attacking the dolphin cause he missed a swing with his knife and got Jasper with it since he couldn't see well.
• The dolphin was stuffed and mounted on a wall in the crew members lounge.

Nobody asked for this but I'm gonna do it anyways...
🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
Fluff Alphabet: Takeru/Aguni Edition
🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
A = Attractive what do they find attractive about the other?
Takeru: only reason he let Aguni wear regular clothes and not swimwear is because he saw ARM in that tank top and was like "oh damn okay 😳." So, y'know, that. (And he'll never admit it but he kinda likes how Aguni is a little bit taller than he is....) Also likes that Aguni has a really dry, deadpan sense of humor—he ways finds a way to make Takeru laugh, even when he's not really trying.
Aguni: I think the physical aspect of things wasn't really a make-or-break for him at first—like, yeah, Takeru's a good-looking guy, but that's secondary. He liked how Takeru is such a live-wire, very loud and colorful and seemingly fearless, no matter what kind of trouble they got into. (But also...he likes the hair. That's a thing for him.)
B = Baby do they want a family? why/why not?
Takeru: If they end up with one somehow, then, sure. But, like. He's not going out of his was to make it a thing. (But also, he has his cat, Ziggy, who he calls his baby, so...)
Aguni: Would secretly love to be a dad but is too worried he might mess the kid up or something. Is more than happy to be 'unofficial parent' to the neighborhood kids, though. Handing out ice pops to the kids that show up at the shop, keeping an eye out and telling them to get home before dark, maybe even showing one or two of them how to throw a better curveball...you know. Real Hallmark channel shit. (And yes, for those who were wondering: Ziggy the cat loves him and often curls up on his lap while he watches TV)
C = Cuddle how do they cuddle?
They don't really "cuddle" outside of bed. Just kinda sit next to each other, shoulder to shoulder, no big deal. But in bed, Aguni lies on his back with his arm sorta outstretched while Takeru...well, my man is worm on a string but OFF the string, he just flops all sorts of ways and a lot of them don't look comfortable but he falls asleep in minutes so whatever.
D = Dates what are dates with them like?
I don't think they do "dates"—they've got a long-term thing going on, so they often end up on the couch eating takeout and watching movies. I think they'd go to the movie theater sometimes (and talk shit for the entire film lol) and every once in a while grab dinner somewhere nice...but, usually because they have some cool limited-time-only dessert item that Takeru insists they try. (And Aguni pretends to be upset about having to get dressed up and go out, but is actually rather pleased to have a little romance...and get something to satisfy his sweet tooth.)
E = Everything you are my ____ (e.g my life, my world…)
Aguni: Emergency Medical Contact
Takeru: Co-Signer On The Apartment Lease
F = Feelings when did they know they were falling in love?
Takeru: About a week after Aguni (drunkenly) confessed his crush. Literally spent a whole week like, "Wow, it's a shame I don't love him back. He's so kind and handsome and smart and funny...too bad, I guess..." until one night he sat up straight in bed and said "Hold up." He then immediately called Aguni and began demanding why Aguni didn't tell him he was in love with him this whole time.
Aguni: They had been friends since they were kids, so it's hard to say when his feelings went from "you're my best friend" to something different. But, once he figured it out, he swore never to mention it because that could complicate their friendship.
G = Gentle are they gentle? If so, how?
Takeru: Yes and no. He's got a bad case of "grabby hands" and often yanks Aguni to and fro to look at something or whatever. Just zero respect for the man's personal space. But otherwise...I imagine he's not particularly rough or gentle, just kind of normal. EXCEPT when it comes to the emotional stuff—like, the real heavy things. I think he's very gentle with that, not asking too many questions and just sort of taking care of him where he can.
Aguni: Generally gentle—physically, emotionally, whatever. But I do think that he's confrontational, like when there's an issue, he comes straight out and asks Takeru what's going on. Even corners him, sometimes. He seems like a "no bullshit" guy, and since Takeru is "Mr. 99% Bullshit" he's gotta deal with it as best he can.
H = Hand/Hold how do they like to hold hands?
The only time they "hold hands" is when Takeru is grabbing Aguni's wrist to drag him somewhere (or run away lol) and when Aguni is pulling Takeru's hand back to stop him from touching something...
I = Impression first impression/s
I headcanon that they met very young, like grade school age. After school, in the park, where Takeru was chilling in a tree and Aguni walked by and he was like "Hey, there's a spider up here, wanna see?" and Aguni is like "Not really, I don't like bugs..." Now, Takeru, being "weird bug kid extraordinaire" can't believe his strange little ears and hops down from the tree and starts explaining why bugs are so cool and that Aguni is wrong...and Aguni listens as this funky, tiny firecracker just talks his damn ear off. Aguni liked how excited Takeru got about things, and Takeru liked how Aguni actually listened to him. And they were fast friends after that!
J = Joker are they into pulling pranks?
Takeru fucks around all the time...and doesn't often find out, because Aguni tolerates all his antics. (To a certain point, but still.) Every once in a while, Aguni will tell some harmless little lie just to watch Takeru freak out—he told him once that Lady Gaga was leaving the music scene forever, and Takeru screamed so loud the neighbors filed a noise complaint.
K = Kisses how do they kiss?
I think they most often do quick pecks—at the breakfast table, when they get home from work. You know. Domestic stuff. But when it's not like that...I think 9/10 times it's Takeru initiating, and Aguni reciprocates by wrapping his arms around him in a big hug (because he likes it but also to keep that skinny little weirdo from wiggling so damn much, he's always moving, he can't just be still—)
L = Love who says I love you first?
Neither! I don't think they really say it at all! Why say something that doesn't need to be said? (At least, that's how they see it...)
M = Memory their favorite moment together
Aguni: It's not really a memory, but...just how they have breakfast together some mornings. Sipping coffee, discussing whatever's going on in the world, the general "togetherness" that comes with it is one of his favorite feelings.
Takeru: The time they spent a full 24 hours in a karaoke booth singing 80's hits and knocking back tequila shots and ordering way too much food.
N = Nickel do they spoil? do they buy the person they love everything?
Takeru: Absolutely buys stuff for Aguni all the time. Mostly random snacks, or little knick-knacks that catch his eye. And also clothes, but...Aguni doesn't always approve.
Aguni: Doesn't buy Takeru stuff BUT leaves vases of flowers he grew on the table for Takeru to find.
O = Orange what color reminds them of their other half
Anything bright and obnoxious reminds Aguni of Takeru—red in particular, which also happens to be Takeru's favorite. And Takeru thinks Aguni has calm and soothing blue-green vibes. Like the ocean, beautiful and serene, but also dark and capable of incredible destruction.
P = Petnames what pet names do they use?
Takeru: All of them. Darling, babe, sweetheart (but he calls everyone those lol). Aguni-specific ones are always over-the-top and ridiculous like "brightest star in all of the heavens..." and he always gets an eye-roll for his efforts.
Aguni: Absolutely does not use pet names. Just says "hey you" or something. Once called Takeru "babe" and Takeru had to stop washing dishes and sit down because he was laughing so hard.
Q = Quaint what is their favorite non-modern thing?
Takeru: I feel like he would collect a ton of vintage stuff—clothes, records, just random little bits and bobs he comes across. But his favorite is definitely his record player—it belonged to his dad, and he keeps it in a place of honor in the hat shop.
Aguni: A set of very old and well-cared-for gardening tools. Takeru got them for him for his birthday, and he legit treasures them.
R = Rainy Day what do they like to do on a rainy day?
Lay on the couch and do literally nothing. Takeru gets the left end, Aguni takes the right, and they binge trash TV shows all day. (And also they make box-mix brownies and eat them straight out of the pan. It's "their thing.")
S = Sad how do they cheer themselves/each other up
Takeru: Aside from all his self-destrictive behaviors (binge-drinking, dangerous situations, etc.) he just really needs a good laugh. And Aguni somehow always manages to make him laugh with an unexpected, deadpan comment. Also, he makes Takeru actually talk through his problems instead of ignoring them...
Aguni: if he's in a bad mood, you just need to let him work through it on his own. He hates being "talked down to" and feels that most attempts at cheering up are cheap, so most people don't attempt. Buf...Takeru is not "most people" and breaks out his most ridiculous jokes to try to get Aguni to crack a smile.
T = Talking what do they love to talk about?
Other people! You know Takeru is the "XOXO Gossip Girl" of the neighborhood, but Aguni...he's like a little old church lady and ADORES hearing all the latest drama.
U = Unencumbered What helps them relax?
Both of them have the same method of relaxation and it's...bubble baths! Aguni does a basic, skin soothing soak and just hangs out in the warm water with a book or maybe just his thoughts to keep him company. But Takeru? He's got some fancy bath soaps, and he takes in a glass of wine and lights a few candles and does a face mask and it's a whole EVENT.
V - Very thoughts about each other
Takeru: Thinks Aguni needs to loosen up and take more risks...but also just loves the guy to pieces.
Aguni: Kinda wishes Takeru would calm tf down sometimes...but also knows that it's just how the guy is and wouldn't dare change him.
W = Wedding when, how, where do they propose?
They're not really the marrying type! They just have a mutual understanding of commitment and that's that.
(But if they did have a wedding... I think it would be a relatively small affair with all their closest friends and family. Like a dinner party, but somewhere extra nice and with lots of good food and alcohol. Intimate and meaningful, with just enough "extra" to satisfy Takeru.)
X = Xylophone What’s their song?
"Total Eclipse of the Heart" because they hid out in a karaoke booth (different from the 24-hour event that Takeru cherishes so much) to es ape the Yakuza and Takeru sang it over and over to pass the time.
Y = You the ___ to my ___ (e.g the cookies to my milk, the macaroni to my cheese)
"Breaking" to my "Entering." The "Assault" to my "Battery." (They both hate this sort of thing and try to come up with the worst answers possible lol)
Z = Zebra if they wanted a pet, what pet would they get?
They already have the cat, Ziggy, who is their perfect little angel.

Hello! Been reading the wonderful lore posts about Solas' funky new mural in the trailer the last week and, as I was replaying Inquisition I came across this in the Fade.
Never held much significance before but now it makes me immediatly think of the post you made about the Evanuris, as well as the Old Gods. Do you think it might relate to either or none? I'd be interested to know what you think either way, your lore posts are a delight to read ^^
Hello! I love how the newest mural generated a bunch of discussion along with a whole heap of new speculative and theorycrafting posts! And thank you very much 😊 The rest of this post is under a cut due to length.
Edit: Sorry, not sure what’s up with the coding/layout of this post!
Back in the day, before Descent released, I originally assumed the Whispers were ‘echoes’ - if you will - of the imprisoned Evanuris. endure is quite elfy (suledin/endure, and the song of that name). “Crippled” and “polluted” and the red lyrium stuff in general work well if you subscribe to the theory that the Evanuris were tainted and/or red lyrium-corrupted when they were locked away (see tale of Andruil returning from the Void with armor made of darkness etc), or that they became that way or became similarly twisted after being trapped for so long, especially if said prison is the Black City [a Tainted place]. Linking it to the Evanuris also always makes me think of that one dialogue line from Cole when he’s talking to Solas: “They sleep, masked in the mirror, hiding, hurting, and to wake them - [gasp]”. Both that line and the Whispers contain similar elements like waiting, sleeping, hurting in a manner of speaking at least, and being woken up.
I haven’t been sure of that for a long time. Assuming no link between the Evanuris and the Old Gods for the purposes of this line of speculation, it could instead be to do with the Old Gods as you say. The remaining slumbering Old Gods have also been ‘there’, waiting and sleeping and being awoken in turn. Though it’s not quite “Whispering”, they do in a manner communicate with other beings while trapped - the darkspawn who hear their song and relentlessly search for them - and in their time they used to whisper to ancient Tevinter humans. However, a strike against it pertaining to the Old Gods would be the fact that the lore says they aren’t Tainted until the searching darkspawn find them. Like, I wouldn’t instinctively describe a still-sleeping Old God as “polluted”? A further strike could be that red lyrium isn’t something that automatically leaps to mind when thinking about the Old Gods, unlike when thinking about the Titans (see below) or even the Evanuris (the Andruil stuff again).
Another possibility is that it’s to do with the Titans. Stone endures, and the Titan in Descent had recently stirred. Titans sing (communication), there are other Titans out there and there’s a reference in the lore to a Titan awakening during the time of King/Paragon Orseck Garal. Blue lyrium is the blood of Titans, and a Titan with red lyrium blood or that had been afflicted by the Taint would certainly count as a polluted entity.
Finding dreams again and being crippled/sundered is also dwarfy language actually, despite the fact that dwarves don’t dream and the fact that it was elves who became sundered from themselves and the Fade when Solas made the Veil - consider Solas’ dialogue line where he says “dwarves [in their current state in modern Thedas] are the severed arm of a once mighty hero, lying in a pool of blood, undirected, whatever skill at arms it had gone forever. Although it might twitch to give the appearance of life, it will never dream”. When Valta connects to the Titan in Descent, although she ironically now no longer sleeps (which is usually a prerequisite to.. dreaming), she’s really reconnecting, regaining the connection to a Titan that dwarves used to have (like a severed limb being reattached). That’s where the sundered stuff comes in. At the moment most Titans, and Titans in general, are sundered from their children, the dwarves. In this way both the Titans and the dwarves are crippled, two separated halves of a whole.
After reconnecting, Valta writes in her journal about the world that once was, “before everything changed and the dwarven race broke in two” (i.e. before the dwarven race was sundered). And although she now no longer sleeps, when she closes her eyes she now sees glimpses of things that used to be, glimpses of things the Titan is showing and singing to her - what’s that, if not a form of dreaming? It’s not daydreaming per se, but the Titan is clearly showing her its memories, or dreams if you will, of what once was, and stuff, probably of what it hopes to see one day again too (given the loneliness in its song).. and ‘dream’ as a word has a broader meaning than just literally “images you see when you sleep”.
Anyway, the Evanuris or some of the ancient elves describe connected dwarves in Old Elven Writing as “workers” of the “pillars of the earth” [Titans], “scurry[ing], witless, soulless”, but how do we know they really were witless and soulless? It reads like one part propaganda and one part incorrect assumption, which isn’t a surprise because in that passage the Evanuris/some of the ancient elves were basically preparing to hunt the Titans and by extension mercy-kill some of the connected dwarves, who they perceived as witless and soulless. But reconnected Valta clearly isn’t witless and soulless, she just has a different manner of existence to what the ancient elves (spirit-adjacent as they were) had. Dreaming also comes up in relation to the dwarves as lyrium, the blood of their Titan ‘parents’, bridges the gap between the mundane world and the Fade, which is the world of dreams ("It is possible—even likely—that the "emerald waters" Andraste refers to are the substance of the Fade, which began as an "ocean of dreams””); this is what Valta regains, “its blood now flows through me” and now she sees the things it shows her when she shuts her eyes.
It’s also important to mention the Torn Notebook from the Deep Roads in Trespasser, Section 3 -
Trying to remember that old bedtime song about Mythal. My mother sang it the night before the darkspawn came for my clan. It's the last time I ever heard her voice.
Ir sa tel'nal, Mythal las ma theneras. Ir san'a emma. Him solas evanuris. Da'durgen'lin, Banal malas elgara. Bellanaris, bellanaris.
Written beside each elven line is a corresponding phrase, likely a translation:
I am empty, filled with nothing(?), Mythal gives you dreams. It fills you, within you(?), Making our leaders proud. My little stones, Never yours the sun. Forever, forever.
Hahren said we had lost some of the old words. What if they have changed? Durgen'lin from durgen'len? Little dwarves, never yours the sun? What did Mythal do here?
as here is dreaming, or gaining dreams, cropping up once again in relation to the dwarves. What Mythal “did here” btw was striking down the Titans and “rendering their demesne to the People”. A demesne is one’s domain or land. In this context it probably also refers to resources and their very forms, as we know that the Evanuris were mining the bodies of Titans for lyrium and “something else”, the something else probably being their hearts/cores (which probably can be made into power sources, the foci). This sounds like an unrelated disjointed ramble sry but it’s relevant because of the end part:
Then the runes crackle, as if filled with an angry energy. A new vision appears: elves collapsing caverns, sealing the Deep Roads with stone and magic. Terror, heart-pounding, ice-cold, as the last of the spells is cast. A voice whispers:
"What the Evanuris in their greed could unleash would end us all. Let this place be forgotten. Let no one wake its anger. The People must rise before their false gods destroy them all."
Their greed was the mining for resources and power. What was unleashed and had to be sealed away is often theorized to be red lyrium and/or the Blight. In this reading red lyrium, and by association the Taint, is maybe something like the Titans’ defense mechanism against being hunted, struck down and mined by the Evanuris, or perhaps something like an immune response or a natural consequence of the action, like how when we as a species pollute the natural world this often comes back to bite us in the ass with disasterous consequences. And like the angry energy and elves collapsing caverns in that passage, there’s also the “terrible presence” the Arcane Warrior’s soul in DAO remembers.
Given all this stuff, as well as the prevalence of red lyrium in the DA4 marketing thus far and apparent prevalence in its plot, its continued spread, the Titan/dwarfy beats touched on and set up in Descent (self-explanatory) and continued in Trespasser (the ‘death of a Titan’ mural etc), the [possible] corrupted beating Titan heart, the danger corrupted awakened Titans could undoubtedly pose to Thedas, and the theory that Solas is trying to prevent some cataclysm befalling Thedas and believes that he has to do this to save the world and that he’s running out of time, I think I lean towards the Whispers being to do with the Titans, specifically ‘red lyrium/corrupted/Blighted Titans’. Here I also wanna point out the similarity between the Whispers and Codex Entry: The Profane:
We who are forgotten, remember, We clawed at rock until our fingers bled, We cried out for justice, but were unheard. Our children wept in hunger, And so we feasted upon the gods. Here we wait, in aeons of silence. We few, we profane.
—Found scrawled on a wall in the lost Revann Thaig by explorer Faruma Helmi, 5:10 Exalted. Unknown author.
- the Profane being Rock Wraiths, creatures who are believed to have once been dwarves, that wander the Deep Roads, corrupt and living an undying half-life, probably feeding on lyrium (Titans being somewhat akin to dwarven gods) as they go. What if Valta is what you get when a dwarf connects to a normal Titan, and a Rock Wraith is what happens when a dwarf connects to a corrupted/Blighted/red Titan? Side note: It’s iiiinteresting indeed, isn’t it, that the Profane were calling out for justice, given that justice is one of Mythal’s ‘domains’ and considering her prior involvement with Titans and the dwarves (“adjudicator and savior!”, Mythal and the urtok, “Once I was but a woman... crying out in the lonely darkness for justice” etc). 👀
The last thing I have to say on this topic is that it’s also possible that the Whispers are one of those things that the writers just cooked up and threw in there for kicks/flavor, because it sounds cool and mysterious, and in so-doing it’s written in such a way (a bit generic) that 1) fans reading it can speculate about it and link it to several different things and 2) down the line the devs could retroactively decide to give it a meaning, or retroactively change what it was in reference to. This was the case for Eleni Zinovia’s prophecy:
David Gaider said Eleni Zinovia’s prophecy doesn’t refer to Fen’Harel. He can’t remember who wrote it in there or what it refers to actually. It was most likely just intended as flavor and he was even a bit surprised by it, like “What is this?” There’s a lot of things like that in the games, not everything has a ~grand meaning~. Sometimes such small off-hand things are picked up on by fans and the writers then make it into something bigger and more meaningful after the fact. This is what happened with Sandal (all the fans being like “Ooh, what does it mean, what does it mean?” about him). It’s possible Eleni will be picked up on like that in the future, but at the time it didn’t mean anything really. A lot of the way these stories are put together is that they put a lot of questions into the world, scattering possible/potential plothooks, and they don’t necessarily know where they lead at the time, but in future games they could come back to them and come up with an interesting backstory. Sometimes they pick it up and sometimes it never gets answered or ever mentioned again (the Wardens taking some of the blood from those who didn’t survive their particular bout of Joinings and putting it in a vial to remember them is an example of one of these things). It’s pretty rare that you’d get a situation where something is mapped out from beginning to end. Sometimes we the players get a revelation as we play and we’re like “Omg!! This is all connected! They are masters!” and the writers are like “Yes, toootally… It was that way alllllll along. It certainly did NOT get decided three quarters of the way through development…” [source]
You know, like there are, as is evident from this post where we go through various possibilities, lots of different ominous mysterious groups of nefarious beings waiting and sleeping and lurking Ominously in this setting!
Not a particularly coherent answer I know but hopefully interesting for you to read. :) tl;dr I lean towards it being to do with the Titans, specifically red lyrium/corrupted/Blighted Titans.

The Journey into the Mondo Levidian Part 2
The true untold tale of All-Maudra Mayrin’s inaugural adventure!
Well, untold in the show. Comic is telling plenty.
In part one, Mayrin becomes All-Maudra and has plenty of unresolved mother issues and insecurity about it. Her first crisis is the growing Sifan separatist movement which threatens to shatter Gelfling solidarity and make her more of a Most-Maudra. She charters a ride with Captain Kam’Lu to go speak to the separatist leader Fenth but the ship goes and sinks.
So far we’ve had a journey so far but not into or Mondo Levidian. We probably should get around to that soon. There’s only three issues left.
So let’s get started!
When the ship sank, Mayrin jumped overboard to save Kam’Lu. Now they’re stranded in the middle of the ocean on a raft.
Mayrin is insistent that they try to find and save the crew of the Scalene Anchor and also Dot. Kam’Lu is equally insistent that No That’s A Terrible Idea. They have no food, no water, and no hope of survival unless they’re lucky enough to find land. They’re in no position to rescue anyone else. Plus...
There are political considerations.
Kam’Lu: “If the other clans believe the Sifans killed the All-Maudra, we’ll never be trusted again.”
He also mentions that Fenth predicted that THIS EXACT SITUATION might happen if the All-Maudra intervened in the Sifan separatist movement.
Huh.
Speaking of Fenth, the plot cuts over to him for a bit.
He learns of the sinking the Scalene Anchor and the presumed death of the New-All-Maudra and thinks hey, its free real estate.
High Councilor Fenth: “That means... There’s no one in line for the All-Maudra’s throne! The seat is vacant!”
skekSa: “How... fortunate! Haha! Ha! Haha! You wanted autonomy for the Sifans! Freedom from the greedy hands of the Vapra clan, yes? That is why honored me with this grand tithing -- to enlist my immortal aid? I am the only one who is sympathetic to your cause. That is why the Skeksis are here. To help Gelfling lead...!”
Call it a shot in the dark but I feel like skekSa was involved in the suspicious sea monster sinking of the Scalene Anchor.
Tumblr media
Of course, she’ll probably get away with it. It’d spoil the surprise too early if a Skeksis was caught doing an evil scheme.
Also, look at the ambition on Fenth. Grows up in a matriarchy where clan leaders are always women, where the word for clan leader means ‘clan mother’ and thinks to himself ‘psssh i can do that.’ Good on him. Dream big, guy.
Back over with our mismatched comedy duo, as all Dark Crystal stories must have, Mayrin and Kam’Lu have some mismatched comedy duo banter.
Like her criticizing him for not being able to find land despite being a captain of a ship. And then immediately spotting land while he’s indignantly defending his credentials.
Tumblr media
Or her maligning his swimming abilities since he fell off a boat and got knocked unconscious and had to be saved from drowning by her.
So he decides to turn this into a swimming contest, winner gets to be All-Maudra.
Good fun.
Just how I like my Gelfling buddy comedies.
Of course, its all fun and games until the island turns out to be a sea monster that eats them.
And it turns out that the island is a sea monster that eats them.
Tumblr media
A mondo levidian, if I had to guess.
Giant turtles passing as landscape. Giant monsters being mistaken for islands. This comic series is too good to me.
So the two slide down the mondo levidian’s throat (gross) MANAGING TO BICKER ON THE WAY DOWN!
Kam’Lu: “Don’t you have wings?!”
Mayrin: “They don’t work well when they’re wet!”
Amazing.
They slide and slorp and flump all the way down to presumably the stomach.
But as they stop to rest, they realize they’re not alone.
Sulub: “Yer some kinda fishie-fish I ain’t ever seen! Betchur tasty! Anyway! No wrigglin’ while I kill ya good!”
Tumblr media
OH MY GOD
This comic series is too good to me.
Look at this delightful podling crabtaur.
Once Kam’Lu proves immune to Sulub’s “advanced technology” (ie Sulub stabs Kam’Lu in the foot with a spear), the podcrab agrees to take the two Gelfling to see his village elder.
Sulub actually assumes that Mayrin and Kam’Lu are married and here on honeymoon at the thriving fish digestive system tourism industry I guess. Mayrin claims that Kam’Lu is just a fool and her servant (and Kam’Lu doesn’t speak Podling very well so has no idea about this) and introduces herself as the All-Maudra.
Sulub: “ALL-MAUDRA! The legendary All-Maudra! Well, why didn’t ya say so! Sulub is gilltickled and downright honored to lead ‘the all-powerful and all-knowing’ All-Maudra to our home. You’ll be enjoyin’ to know we’ve kept care of your most regal gifts! Still in pristine condition for havin’ come in a while ago!”
Tumblr media
The gut city of Bajula has a statue of the previous All-Maudra, one apparently commissioned when Mayrin was baby.
Huh.
Well. Its helpful to Mayrin that they know about the All-Maudra and are excited to have her here. And that they’re assuming that she sent the statue ahead of herself, like luggage.
Sulub tours Mayrin and Kam’Lu around Bajula. Showing them the goo farms, the visitor center, the fermented... milk wine bar.
The king shows up and is disappointed that the Gelfling want to leave so soon into their visit and asks if Sulub even bothered to show them the goo farms!
But since Mayrin insists that they have important outside stuff to do outside, the king decides to rush through some exposition.
These podling crabs? They’re called Boblings.
Bobling King: “Thousands of trine ago, my tribe set out to explore the Silver Sea as proud, stalwart Podlings! Our regal forefathers were not known to swim, but their bravery was unmatched, and they set out to conquer everything they discovered! All those who would get in their way would be destroyed by the might of the Podlings! Yet there are creatures in this world that are mightier, and the Mondo Leviadin emerged from the Silver Sea and devoured their ships. Thousands of digestive cycles passed as we changed to better suit our new home. Our new world.”
An unstoppable army of Podlings sounds funny until you remember how awesome Hup is. The Mono Levidian may have spared the peoples of Thra a tragic fate.
Also, I’m a big impressed at the lack of linguistic drift. Thousands of trine and Bobling language is indistinguishable from Podling and Gelfling is still recognizable.
Kam’Lu gets fed up with the Bobling King and starts yelling that he’s cold, he’s hungry, he doesn’t want to be in a fish’s guts! Mayrin manages to convince the king by speaking of duty.
Bobling King: “You speak of duty. I know it well. As a leader of my kind, I would do anything for their survival. So yes, I will help you and your servant. Why you married him, I will never know.”
Kam’Lu: “Her what? We’re what?!”
Hah, that misunderstanding is paying dividends.
The king explains that the levidian only surfaces to feed once per trine and that it stays near the surface for a time after feeding.
So if Mayrin and Kam’Lu don’t get to the porticol (blowhole) within eight or so intestinal groans (.... hours??), they’ll be stuck until next trine.
WHICH IS GOING TO BE REAL BAD FOR MAYRIN’S CAREER.
Even though the Boblings are but a simple goo-farming people, the king sends his daughter Gunda, the most skilled hunter in Bajula, to escort them.
Gunda: “But father, the journey as never been done by a single Bobling. You send me into certain danger!”
King: “And do you not crave danger?! My daughter, you are the only one capable and brave enough to undertake such a quest! Please! A duty for your king!”
Gunda: “So be it. I will guide you to the porticol, but know that it is dangerous and uncharted. There are many creatures that call this place home. We must be vigilant. Stalwart. Like my podling ancestors!”
This is a fun little bit because it implies a life and experiences and that these Boblings haven’t just been sitting waiting for protagonists to show up. I mean, they also have been doing that. They have a visitor center set up. But they’ve been living their own dramas.
And off they go! Mayrin, Kam’Lu, and Gunda! On a grand journey to a giant sea monster’s blowhole!
Wait, is this thing a mammal?
Tumblr media
So that’s issue 2.
We’re finally in the Mondo Levidian. And now all the protagonists want is to get out. So we’ve got the title, we’ve got an objective, we’ve got some fun side cast, we’ve got a ticking clock before Mayrin and Kam’Lu have to look at the sea monster gut apartment listings, and we’ve got some outside stakes!
Mayrin continues to impress. There’s even a moment right when Kam’Lu rouses after the shipwreck where he seems in awe of her confidence in a crisis.
Kam’Lu has his own personality now that’s not parroting Fenth. Its being a butt monkey, with a slight shade of being a little shit. Between Mayrin giving him shit for supposedly being bad at sailor stuff to getting stabbed in the foot by Boblings twice to being mistaken for Mayrin’s servant-husband, Kam’Lu is having a trying adventure. Plus his ship sank and all of his friends may be dead and if they fail to escape the Mondo Levidian, he’ll go down in history as the idiot that got an All-Maudra killed.
Poor guy.
Gunda has only had two pages to shine and she seems endearing! But it feels weird that Sulub isn’t coming along. He’s the introductory Bobling and all. But I guess speaking only Podling would be an impediment to interacting with Kam’Lu. Still, its weird that he just seems to fade out of the story once the king shows up.
Farewell, Sulub, you funky crab potato.

LET’S TALK ABOUT THE PLANES PART 3!?
Continuing on, this time we’re looking at:
THE ELEMENTAL PLANES:
Okay so the elemental planes. Seems pretty self explanatory right? Plane of water’s just gunna be a big ocean, plane of air’s gunna be clear skies right?
Well, no. Kind of! But no. See when designing the elemental planes, they had to design them so that adventures could be had there. As a result each plane kind of has to have a biiit of variety. Like, the plane of earth isn’t just solid rock, and has caves and stuff! And the plane of fire isn’t just...y’know...a lot of regular fire. Needless to say however, before one goes to one of these places, you’re probably going to want to have an appropriate form of movement, be it water breathing and swimming, flying, burrowing or “being fire proof and also able to walk”.
In addition to being thematic and fun, the elemental planes have some of the most varied and interesting inhabitants. Each and every one of them is worth involving in your campaign if you can spare the thought.
Each of these places has their own flavour of genie. Genies tend to be kinda...Well, not super nice honestly. Some are nicer than others though. In general The Dao(earth) and Efreeti(fire) are kinda rat bastards, while the Marid(water) and Djinni(air) are more chill.
ELEMENTAL PLANE OF EARTH:
Structure: Despite being, by vast majority, an infinitely spanning ever grinding and shifting mass of various rock, gems, ores and so on, this fairly down to earth plane also features some well grounded caves, tunnel systems, fissures and engineered pockets that allow for creatures without earth glide/burrowing abilities to make their way along.
Inhabitants: Earth elementals, Dao, Xorn, Pech and so on. Dao are earth aligned Genie who are honourable in always returning a favour, and have a respect for craftsmanship, in plans, tools, art and anything else. They’re also typically giant dicks. Xorn are just cool diggy boys who eat rocks and look like living nightmares, please don’t hit these good boys :(
Threats: Well, as in most of the elemental planes, the genies are kinda...Rude. Aside from that however, earth elementals can be cranky if you go marching through their home and also sometimes the air can be less “air” and more “Deadly deadly poison gas”. Watch out for that. Also Basilisks.
Notable things: Seriously I cannot stress this enough: This is prime wizard real estate. Sure the fire plane has more trade you can do, but you just *cannot* beat the elemental plane of earth for security and subtlety. The whole place is also full of wildly valuable gems and metal ores, just be careful it’s not a Xorn’s dinner.
Further reading: Well, the Dao are possibly worth looking into, though like many things in D&D lore, it’s just RIDDLED with unnecessary slavery. Xorn, while extremely cool are pretty simple dudes. Honestly the earth plane’s biggest strength is it’s simplicity.
ELEMENTAL PLANE OF FIRE:
Structure: Okay so this is gunna get funky. But believe it or not, structure wise, this one is the MOST normal. It has ground, rivers, air, the whole kaboodle. ‘cept the ground is made of very dense fire. And the rivers are made of slightly less dense fire. And the air is poison gas and also a little bit of fire as well. Don’t come here, it sucks.
Inhabitants: Okay this is actually why you come here. See the fire genies known as efreeti are the primary inhabitants. (Salamanders and fire elementals live here too, but Salamanders are kinda just nasty fire snake people) They’re kinda egotistical and like to give themselves noble titles and stuff, BUT they are an ingenious bunch that, in spite of being evil dickheads, are really good at business.
Threats: WELL THE WHOLE PLACE IS MADE OF FIRE AND THE AIR IS TOXIC GAS MOST OF THE TIME UNLESS YOU’RE IN THE EFREET CITY AND ALSO FIRE ELEMENTALS AND STUFF SO YEAH. The Brass city is also a scary place to be if you can’t hold your own. Someone might try to just sell you. So long as the efreeti think you’re impressive enough that you would be a threat to fight, you should be safe to trade however.
Notable things: THE BRASS CITY!! This is quite possibly one of the most fascinating things about ALL of the elemental planes. See the efreeti in all their egoism and whatnot decided “Yes, we’re obviously the best place, and should have all the best things, but we really cannot be fucked making it all. Lets just get people to GIVE us the things we want AND pay us lip service.” And so they made the single biggest interplanar bazaar in the multiverse. It’s literally the ultimate black market magic emporium in the setting. It’s also specially enchanted to be HABITABLE to creatures not literally made of fire!!! Good shit!!!
Further reading: Really, just the brass city. Learn about this place. It’s fucking rad.
ELEMENTAL PLANE OF WATER:
Structure: Okay this one’s interesting again. Imagine an infinite ocean with no surface and no seafloor. The pressure is consistently that of maybe a couple of meters deep. There are huge underwater icebergs in some places, enormous three dimensional reefs on floating island sized rocks in others, and currents bearing salty, fresh, murky or boiling waters throughout. It’s a trip.
Inhabitants: Water elementals, Tritons, Nereids, the water genies known as Marids and a vast array of oceany monsters. Marids are...Fun. They’re egotists to the extreme and will respond very, very well to flattery and bribes, as they tell winding tales of their glory. Don’t interrupt them, don’t question the validity of the story. Yes, you DO believe they personally ripped off 6 of Tiamats original 11 heads. You’re very impressed.
Threats: The place is a giant swimming pool with no surface, so...try not to drown. Also keep an eye out for horrible horrible sea monsters and deadly algea that comes in as a wall on the tide. And, again, be respectful of the Marid you’re speaking to and appreciate that so long as you are, he’ll probably be..maybe not nice, but amiable.
Notable things: The variety of creatures that live on this plane truly is quite impressive, Marids share this place with at least two seperate sea dwelling deep creatures that see themselves as on par with, or above the gods, these being the Kraken and Aboleth. (probably avoid both if you can)
Further reading: Honestly both krakens and aboleths are so well developed creature types that you should probably look ‘em both up if you wanna present this place right. Marids are also, as mentioned. Fun.
ELEMENTAL PLANE OF AIR:
Structure: Pretty simple stuff: Endless skies. A few floating islands here and there, approximately the size of an asteroid. pockets of non-air gasses No bottom, no top. Jump off the side on an air ship and wait a few days worth of falling and you might be able to fall past your airship again.
Inhabitants: Honestly more limited than a lot of other places, mostly just the Djinni and air elementals. Djinni are actually nice! Mostly! They’re pretty much the only genie that’s not gunna do bad things to you if you don’t tip toe around them. Also storm and cloud giants occasionally wander about the place, which is kinda neat!
Threats: Mooostly just the fact that if you fall, and can’t fly, you’re a little fucked. Aside from that, air elementals come in a great many forms and some of them can be pretty scary. OH and the giant super duper massive storm of unreasonable doom. Avoid that.
Notable things: Because Djinni are the most friendly, trusting and open of all genie kind, and also most likely to visit the material plane, they’re also the most commonly trapped in bottles and such. If you see a djinni trapped in a bottle, don’t be a dick, let him out. He’d let you out. Be a bro. C’mon.
Further reading: Uhhh, Honestly because they’re nicer, Djinni have less written about them, they’re still worth a look however. The cloud and storm giants are also worth reading into, loooots of juicy lore behind giants.
I will get to the feywilds and shadowfell eventually, I promise.

Here I am again with some HC’s you ain’t ask for (except maybe @redbeanb0i 🤣), so just go with it! Shoutout to the anon(s) who said that Avdol listens to Lizzo lmao this is for y’all too!
✨Stardust Crusaders and Their Song Picks✨
(based off SOME of my playlists/tastes)
Tumblr media
Muhammad Avdol 🔥
Ngl, I see him as someone who likes anything with a nice beat and a tempo he can vibe to. He and Oldseph have literally the same music taste, which you will see later, but Avdol’s definitely more modernized. He has a jazz and soft rock collection which is cool and all, but sometimes, you just wanna a lil some-some while you feed your chickens 😂 (which is also why I have a few afrobeats in here for him too!).
“Truth Hurts” — Lizzo
“Candy” — Cameo
“Creep” — TLC
“Good as Hell” — Lizzo
“LOVE. FEAT. ZACARI” — Kendrick Lamar
“Mad Over You” — Runtown
“Skin Tight” — Mr. Eazi
“Adorn” — Miguel
Jean-Pierre Polnareff ⚔️
Polnareff sits in that limbo/middle ground between hype and chill. He mostly listens to upbeat songs that have him either bumpin his head or dancing like a fool; has the occasional turn up song too, of course. I think he’s probably the most accepting of other music genres as well, so his tastes would be all over the place. Polnareff listens to whatever his ears enjoy the most! Actively seeking for new music too omg!
“Level Up” — Ciara
“Tempo” — Lizzo
“Hotline Bling” — Drake
“Way Back Home” — SHAUN
“Adore You” — Harry Styles
“MONOPOLY” — Victoria Monet
“Captain Hook” — Megan Thee Stallion
Bonus: “WAP” — Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion 😈
Kakyoin Noriaki 💚
The Chill Shit™! Basically songs he can play in the background while he sketches, reads or writes. I strongly believe that he and Jotaro prefer LoFi beats/game instrumentals/anime OP or ED’s. But based on what I listen to, I’d say his tastes are really soft vibes, though I can totally see him dipping into Polnareff’s playlist too. Prefers chill rappers like Childish Gambino and soulful RnB singers.
“Sober” — Childish Gambino
“Get You” — Daniel Caesar
“The Weekend” — SZA
“Reborn” — Kid Cudi
“NO HALO” — BROCKHAMPTON
“I Want You Around” — Snoh Aalegra
“Forrest Gump” — Frank Ocean
“Eternal Sunshine” — Jhene Aiko
Old!Joseph Joestar 🦾
Only the classics baby! The stuff that makes him feel young again; funky, groovy beats, or smooth and soulful ballads. That’s the stuff that has him pulling Suzi Q close and giving her a giant smooch, then twirling her around as they dance in the middle of their living room 🥺🥺😭 (tbh, I can see him really liking Usher too)
“Never Too Much” — Luther Vandross
“PYT” — Michael Jackson
“What You Won’t Do For Love” — Bobby Caldwell (this!!!!)
“September” — Earth, Wind & Fire
“Get Down on It” — Kool & The Gang
“Confessions Part II” — Usher (I swear I’m not trying to be funny or ironic....okay yes I am LMFAO)
“Ordinary People” — John Legend
Jotaro Kujo ⭐️
Kind of a tough cookie, ngl. I feel like him and Kakyoin are similar in tastes, but he wouldn’t appreciate some of the soft songs I have on my playlists. Like I said, LoFi beats are his go to, because they’re easier to tune out and he doesn’t get bogged down with lyrics. If he had to choose, here’s what I think he’d select. Also don’t see him as a rap fan that much, but if he listens to it, it’s 1000% because the lyrics resonate.
“Home” — BROCKHAMPTON
“Selfish” — Jordan Rakei
“Drive Safe” — Rich Brian
“Cocoa Butter Kisses” — Chance the Rapper (irony aha)
“Acid Rain” — Chance the Rapper
“instagram” — DEAN
“Apparently” — J. Cole
Honestly, I could go on for forever, especially considering this is mostly one genre of music and totally not all they listen to. If y’all want a Spotify playlist including other genres, lemme know, I feel like that would be super fun to do.
Also, should I do Bucci gang or the Morioh peeps next?? 👀

ahhhh hi sorry for the LATE response, life's been kinda wild lately
anyway, i'm really glad you liked the poem & i don't mind you sharing it :)
(plus, a new prompt sounds nice)
(&btw, richard siken's new book is gonna be called "blue jupiters" (as far as i know copper canyon press will publish it))
also, happy you liked the recs! i found it cool how you said "the way god chooses to escape from his own reality through someone who does not believe enough in him to question him at first"! couldn't have put it better myself.
(sorry if this ask seems all over the place, i just have to get somewhere and i'm gonna be mad late - but i really want to finally send a response)
i enjoyed your recommendations a lot so let me elaborate real quick-
the problem with travel:
right off the bat, same.
traveling does always make me feel like i'm starting a new chapter and i should act accordingly.
love "kill the kid stuff, start to act my numbers" - the choice of words you use when writing is so important. (thats why i cant judge anyone who spends a long ass time on thesaurus! sometimes writing really does feel like looking through a lost & found or fishing the right word out of a goodwill bin! flipping through a magazine in search for the right word to cut out and stick on your collage!) imagine how substantially different the poem would sound if limon had written "start to act my age" instead of "start to act my numbers"
"[...] - we’re small
and flawed, but I want to be
who I am, going where
I’m going, all over again."
this^ part kills me in a good way
accident report in the tall, tall weeds:
"my ex got hit by a bus"
gets right to the point. kinda like a short story? an immediate jump into action
i might've said this before but i like it when poems tell stories (i mean i guess they all do, in a way, but i specifically mean the ones that have clear characters? if that makes sense)
"No tampering with the great universal brake wires."
ahhh yeah - when you feel like a thought can cause real life consequences
"When the plane went down in San Francisco,
I thought of my friend M. He’s obsessed with plane crashes.
He memorizes the wrecked metal details,
the clear cool skies cut by black scars of smoke.
Once, while driving, he told me about all the crashes:
The one in blue Kentucky, in yellow Iowa.
How people go on, and how people don’t.
It was almost a year before I learned
that his brother was a pilot.
I can’t help it,
I love the way men love."
^ don't you love it when a poem beats your heart to a pulp?
"What I saw in the men who came before,
sometimes I don’t want to say this out loud,
was someone I could hold up to my ear
and hear the ocean, something I could say my name into,
and have it returned in the inky waves."
self recognition through the other! yeah! sometimes people are people and sometimes people are mirrors and i know this wasn't her point but aren't we all just saying "hey! this is how i feel! do you feel like that too?" and sometimes "language is complicated but i think you know exactly what i mean and i know what you mean too!" and "when our experience overlaps the cosmic alone-ness becomes bearable!"
shit i'd love to drop another rec but i REALLY have to go now! hope to hear from you soon
-cat
Well, lmao Cat now, I'm the one who's late in replying, but yeah, I've been really busy. Now, I've got a bit of a time to reply to your ask.
First of all, "Don't You Wonder, Sometimes?" by Tracy Smith is a really interesting poem especially centred around Bowie. I love how the poet makes Bowie into a mythical being, like a sort of a spirit rather than a mortal man.
"Not God, exactly. More like-
Some thin-hipped glittering Bowie-being"
I love how the poem takes in the spirit of Bowie as something that will keep living on -
"Saying nothing is lost, that everything lives on waiting only
To be wanted back badly enough?
Bowie will never die. Nothing will come for him in his sleep
Or charging through his veins. And he’ll never grow old,"
It's just a beautiful way to think of the artist living on despite their death. They live through those they have touched with their art as well as their art themselves.
"In which I’m forever a child looking out my window at the night sky
Thinking one day I’ll touch the world with bare hands
Even if it burns."
And I just simply love these lines ^^^ . I love the poem touches up on reincarnation. It's interesting as it mentions how people are reincarnated a few times and then, they go to the beyond.
"And how many lives
Before take-off, before we find ourselves
Beyond ourselves, all glam-glow, all twinkle and gold?"
And finally, I love how the deification fo Bowie continues making him into a cryptid? That's the best way I can describe it honestly.
"When a man his size can meet
Your eyes for just a blip of time
And send a thought like SHINE
SHINE SHINE SHINE SHINE
Straight to your mind. Bowie,
I want to believe you."
(I followed your style of picking up lines and talking about them - it's a pretty fun thing to do)
{Purple happens to be my fav colour so, yeah I annotated with purple}
And yeah, language is funky like that. Honestly, I love the fact that people swap art with each and it's like every though we're different, you go through the same emotions. No matter whatever niche emotion is, someone has already written about it! If they haven't, you can always write it!
This reminded of a favourite poem of mine (tw : homophobia and sort of death ? though) which reminds me of the awkwardness of telling people I'm queer / coming out to them. It's called Three A.M. by Jill McDonough.
Also, I've been reading some more stuff to rec them and to hear your thoughts on them. It's all food - themed because I really got into food poetry last week. And as I was talking to a lovely mutual about the intimacy of cooking food and feeding someone.
I'd highly rec the movie "Big Eden". It's a wonderful gay rom-com movie with no homophobia at all and a lot of intimate cooking and wanting to make sure that your crush is loved and taken care off.
But anyway -
Having a Coke with You by Frank O'Hara
Perhaps the World Ends Here by Joy Harjo
The Orange by Wendy Cope
For Grace, After A Party by Frank O'Hara
Eating Together by Li-Young Lee
And these two posts are where I got these poems from, so perhaps you could read the other ones in the list.
Food Poems 1
Food Poems 2
And also, you're into Succession! Yay!! Are you into Tomgreg? If you're not, that's chill. But, like more Tomgreg people the better. I'd love to hear your thoughts about the show too! :) And like I said before, I really enjoyed your Kendall edit! Did you get a chance to watch my Tomgreg edit? It's called Don't Blame Me, I put it on my Tumblr. (No pressure if you can't)
And I have to ask, because I forgot, what are your pronouns, Cat? I use she/they. I just wanted to ask what you want me to use while referring to you. And let me know if you wanna do another poetry writing swap again.
Anyway, that's it for now! Let me know what you think! I hope to hear from you soon :)

omg i'm actually online!! how exciting!! 3, 10, 18, 21!! love you so much hope your day was okay and that you're feeling okay!!! <3 xoxo bella
hello my dear! fancy meeting you here
3. Do you feel more connected to the moon or the sun? mmm probably sun? idk i don't think about stuff like this. but my heart says sun
10. What is something (or someone) you’re in love with? oh ummmmmmmm well. let's see. i am in love with the sound of a record player when the record is between songs, that little silence that is not really silence because the machine is working. i am also in love with my best friend who may move to the east coast with me and who i am lowkey making plans to live with for the rest of my life. i am in love with the name matthias. i am in love with the way bagheera the cat of the house will ask you to scratch under his chin when he wants it and how he purrs. i am in love with the way my family sends me pictures of my dog. i am in love with the feeling that guilty pleasure by cobra starship gives me when i listen to it.
18. Do you believe dreams have meanings or are they completely random? I do believes dreams having meaning, but not to the extent some people do. Like I don't really believe in specific symbols in dreams or whatever but dreams are your brain processing things so dreams are funky interpretations of that
21. Do you believe in mermaids? no? we would have some sort of explicit confirmation by now if so. we know about some really funky things hiding really really deep in the ocean so i feel like we would have figured out about mermaids
send me simple and soft asks
