Helloooo... I hope I won't bother you asking this but I heard that in the jpn version of Veyle's diary it's precised she is the only of Alear's sister ?

It's no bother to me at all! The ally notebooks are proving to be one of the most fascinating cases to study in Engage - my guess is the localization team had to make a number of compromises to 'accuracy' of translation due to the limited space on each page.

So here's Veyle's first page, where we will find the answer to your question:

The Japanese sentence does indeed include 'yuiitsu', which decisively means 'one and only.' Immediately sparks some confusion, because we know Sombron had a lot of children, but the next word immediately clears that up - it's 'imouto' - younger sister. In Japanese, 'younger sister' and 'older sister' are each their own unique word (same for brother btw). So it doesn't take up any extra space in Japanese to specify older vs. younger, creating a tricky problem in English localization when the number of characters in a text box is limited.

That makes this make sense - Alear has Veyle as their one younger sister, and they can still have any number of older sisters.

Update 11/30: A couple of readers chimed in to point out that the game clearly states in Chapter 24 that Alear did indeed have at least one other younger sister, who was killed by Corrupted. So the ally page says "one and only" within the context of Alear's surviving siblings, who is only Veyle by the time the events of the Engage happen.

The sentence about Veyle defeating her evil side was longer in Japanese: ソンブルの策略により敵対したが、(She was an enemy due to Sombron's scheme, but) ヴェイルの意志で悪しき己を撃破。(defeated her evil side by her own will.)

Pg. 2:

None, localization is a straightforward translation.

Pg. 3:

The Japanese further details that her Corrupted are very complex / advanced / intelligent compared to the standard zombie-like Corrupted: 【特技】精巧な異形兵を作ること ((Talents) Creating intelligent Corrupted Her background mentions that she was born in Gradlon, and was alone for the past 1,000 years. 【来歴】グラドロンの地で生を受け ((Background) Born in Gradlon,) 邪竜の御子たちの末妹として育つ。(raised the youngest of the Fell Dragon's children.) 母は優しき心を持つ魔竜族だった。(Her mother was a mage dragon with a kind heart.) 千年の時を孤独に過ごし、父親に (She spent 1,000 years alone, and her father) 駒として扱われ望まぬ戦を重ねたが、(made her fight against her wishes over and over again as his pawn, but) 善良な心を失うことはなかった。(she never once lost her pure heart.)

Pg. 4:

JP also describes her as shy: 遠慮がちだが本当は大の遊び好き。(She is shy, but also very playful.) And there was also more to the sentence about her wanting to be useful to people: 人の役に立つことを何よりも望み、(She wants to be useful to people more than anything, 困っている人は放っておけない。(cannot ignore a person in need.)

Pg. 5:

The JP line about the Pact Ring also mentions that she treats it as her most valuable amulet / charm, as she did with the dragonstone.

In the fourth screenshot, there is a polaroid of Boucheron hunched over a book, tears falling from his eyes. The page on the right reads:

I'm so embarrassed that I've been playing fire emblem engage since it was released and I only today realized that Rosado is a guy and Merrin is a girl. I play the game on silent because I like to listen to music on my phone while I play games and I mostly skip support cutscenes because I'm too impatient to sit around waiting for them to finish so I can get back to the fights & I can always look at them later, so that's why It took me so long to find out that Rosado was a boy and Merrin was a girl by looking in the ally notebook after I unlocked all of their entries (except for their S supports.)

your fist beneath your nose and your brows bunched upwardly together, the first of the tears fell. this part always got you. noah's letters were a cry-able thing after all. the screen panned to allie's sullen eyes on the road and her navy car driving across plains and plains of greenery. "—learning from each other and growing in love. the best love is the kind that weakens the soul. that makes us reach for more. that.. plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds. and that's what you've given me. that's what i'd hoped to give you forever." your shoulders convulsed as you sobbed into your hand, feeling the pain of the scene and allie's own pain like it was your own. "i love you, i'll be seeing you, noah."

exhaling through the o-shape of your lips, you expected a mock or a quip from the cushions beside you. a smirk or a laugh. hayden had been saying he wouldn't cry almost the whole movie and had also been teasing you about the solemn shake of your head when noah took that picture in front of the newly-built house and the tears that escaped the confinements of your eyes when they fought on that deck, in that rain. out by the lake. you'd watched the notebook before, and because he hadn't, you had countered back that he most certainly would cry and if he didn't, he was some sort of sociopath. it became a game between you.

and so that was what you waited for. the prod in your side and bright eyes on the side of your face. they never came. because....

"hayde—?" you thought maybe he fell asleep. maybe he was being truthful when he said this movie was mediocre. boring. but... when you looked to your left, to the man whose arm held you to his chest and whose legs were strewn across the extended footrest, you got... "are you— crying?!"

immediately, you straightened, pulling yourself from his embrace and staring at him incredulously. the blanket spread across the both of you slipped down your shoulders. hayden's eyes stared straight into the screen, still on the movie, the light shining on the tears streaked across his face. he quickly dodged his head. "no.."

forgetting all about the previous sorrows, a grin spread across your lips, contorting from shocked to giddy. hayden moved his hands to his cheeks, face turned down, and wiped off what you knew now for sure were tears with his palms.

"oh my god— you're crying!" you laughed, sniffling wetly through your nose and poking his side. he finally laid his eyes on you, batting your hand away and shooting a disgruntled look your way.

"i'm not crying."

"see, i told you you'd cry. i told you!" when you kept finding openings in the two arms he used to shield his torso, you poked and prodded, and each time, he tried deflecting. finally, he raised a hand and pushed your whole head away from him, sending you back a little. still, you giggled.

"it's not my fault. stop laughing!" hayden huffed, turning back to the screen and crossing his arms over his chest. you shook your head, leaning in and pecking his cheek. he didn't let. rolling your eyes with a smile, you twisted and fell back into his chest, watching the ongoing scenes with him.

"look who's sensitive now."

in total, he cried 3 times, and asked you if they'd end up together 6. hayden owed you 30 dollars by the time the credits rolled.

Could I ask for your thoughts on why you say that Cassius should have been Crassus' political heir ?

so largely I’m half referencing this collection of quotes and the various attempts to fill in the space/grave with a body (like Cicero! Cicero was a contender for this!) and I’m sort of taking shots at Antony for fun and whimsy.

like in sports!! I gotta root for my man Cassius over Antony, especially because no one can actually fill the space left by Crassus after his death (literally, the political landscape makes this impossible), but Cassius assumes a command position due to everyone else (notably, Crassus) dying (so: inheriting Crassus’ leadership position) and wouldn’t be a bad follow up to Crassus in the realm of military command since they have a similar (strict, as opposed to friendly in a way is commonly associated with Antony) relationship with the men under their command.

& also bc Marcus Crassus jr seems to be disinterested in taking up space in the political spotlight on his return from the Gallic Wars otherwise I’d be advocating for him on the basis of family tragedy compounded. it’s time to fill the space/memory/grave of your father and brother, buddy!

#no one can actually fill the role of Crassus and after the death of Pompey it’ll be impossible for a Crassus-like figure to exist #because Caesar has redrawn the lines and you can’t achieve the tris homines dynamic with those lines #ALAS. shoutout to Caesar for making things fucking boring. The world got smaller and worse for it and that’s something #you can share with Alexander the Great! along with your allies forming a conspiracy against you. that’s another parallel #I do appreciate Antony as a terrible body substitute for Crassus tho it’s extremely interesting from a Roman Memory standpoint #and also maybe as an examination of Caesar. but also I don’t want to think about any of that for too long bc I have to start #breaking out the olde notebook with all the political alliances and dynamics written down with highlighters and etc #it does make me wonder what Antony’s opinions on things would be but i’d have to construct them from his later behavior #it’s almost compelling enough that I’ll probably do it for a couple of one shot comics focusing on Antony actually. get haunted buddy #a non linear haunting specifically. I’m so mad that once again Crassus has me thinking abt comics for people I do not feel otherwise #motivate to do comics of. AUGH #ask tag
