also mods are asleep post the rough rundown of backstory hcs (tw for drug/alcohol addiction, familial death)
- eddie’s mother was a teen mom. she left when he was very young because of problems with his father. he has no idea where she is or what she’s up to & has no desire to.
- eddie’s father did a lousy job taking care of him throughout eddie’s entire childhood. he was also young when eddie was born and struggled with drug & alcohol addiction the entire time eddie was in his care
- eventually eddie was removed from his custody at 13 and placed in the care of his father’s brother, his uncle. his father passed away when eddie was 16.
- eddie’s uncle cares a lot for eddie and has always supported & encouraged him more than anyone else in eddie’s life. he doesn’t quite understand eddie’s interests and is a very emotionally distant person but he loves eddie and eddie loves him

But I feel like feelings like yours about bucktommy (just not being into it) aren’t the same as what the people you’re talking about mean when they say people are being puritanical about sex. Because there’s a significant amount of buddie fans right now that act like Buck is practically debasing himself by not saving himself for Eddie. That’s what people are talking about, not people who just aren’t invested in the ship.
i mean i get you anon but unlike you in your ask acknowledging some people may just not be into it, in my experience on 911blr i see very little acknowledgement from most bucktommy shippers that there could be reasons not to vibe with the pairing that have nothing to do with wanting buddie. or with queerphobia or fetishizing or puritanism. those words get thrown around too much and eventually i snap.

reading fight club and thinking about the motivation to do all that shit being a deep, deep insecurity with masculinity and particularly one's desires to be touched by another man (and when he punches you, you get to feel something really intense, and it's acceptable to feel intense being touched by another man then)... and how my own relationship with masculinity and desire for other men has NEVER included a desire for mutual violence, like i've been a physical bully but never open to actual fights because that means getting hit back, and pain is just too different from pleasure for me. i've always hated physical pain to the point that i go out of my way to avoid even risking it, i find it innately traumatic and fear anything discomforting being done to my body, and this fact in and of itself has actually always been a sort of insecurity of mine wrt masculinity.
and of course (why else would i be posting this here) i'm thinking of tom's (pansy) attempts at expression of masculinity through violence, and thinly-veiled expression of homosexual desire through inciting a (wimpy) mutual fight, and how in spite of his deep DEEP insecurity he is, like me, so clearly NOT remotely capable nor even inclined to a fight club situation. and it's no question that this is because gender overlaps very much with class. it's tom's middle class origins and high upper class aspirations that interact so much with his security in his gender (ironically to be willing to fight is actually more vulnerable than he's capable of, like he hates vulnerability so much it loops back around to becoming effeminate, but like in the way that wealth and advancement of society changes certain rules of effeminacy) and his innate sexuality. fight club portrays a world of not just toxic masculinity but blue-collar toxic masculinity, where men at the bottom of society's barrel are brainwashed in a way to not believe that they deserve anything, and where that brand of masculinity is envied by the lower middle class who feel like cogs in a machine that doesn't reward them. they figure it's all worth throwing away.
meanwhile, tom (and greg) (and i) have always believed that we deserved more than we had. above tom's insecurities ARE a total rejection of physical pain (enough to even convince oneself that discomfort isn't there!) and a drive for pleasure and decadence, and this is why his relationship with violence is what it is.

Hey big fan. How tall do you think the androids in DL are?
Not gonna lie, it's always a bit shocking to hear one has made anything to earn a 'big fan', but thank you very much nonetheless!
As for your actual question, though, I think they're roughly about human height, judging by art? Of course I've gone over how art sometimes varied wildly in height, but as mentioned in that post if you have seen that, Dragalia did seem to try and keep a 'comparison heights' straight, at least. They might not have kept straight if Euden was 4'11 or 5'9 but he was shorter than Ranzal and Luca, etc.
And what we see in the wyrmprints, they seem consistently human in size:
(Well, these are both with sylvans, but sylvans are human in height as well, ears notwithstanding, so the point stands).
As funny as it might have been if every android was big or really tiny, I think it probably makes sense that, being created and wished for them to be 'humans' by Maestro, they resemble humanity as much as possible.
Now, just because Laxi, Mascula, and the androids from their era are human sized, others might not be.
They're a recreation of the older models in another case of Dragalia's humans trying to resurrect older tech, the same tech that made the dragons Very Displeased 1k years ago.
Now, Eireene and Finni, who unfortunately have among my personal least favorite designs in Dragalia, don't really give any indication either of being a wildly different size than Laxi or Mascula. Like this art here, where they are about the same size as Laxi and in a similar 'dwarfed by Ranzal' category most everyone falls into to varying degrees.
That doesn't mean there aren't standouts.
Anassa, for example, seems to carry a much bigger presence in her art. Being something of a commander and command center for the 1k year old model androids, it stands to reason she might have more weapons built in, more data processors, or other things in greater quantity. While we don't have a model or comparative art to truly say for certain that she is bigger, she certainly looks it.
(Does she even have legs??? Is she a roomba that would be foiled by anything over a 15° incline or a sudden height change, ex, stairs??? I mean yeah, doesn't she fly and drop down the one time, but even then, there's any number of environments that might make it awkward or impossible to use it to navigate a hazard.)
Ahem. Anyways, the point is that the general androids, be it Maestro's recreations or their elder Nier:Dragalia -er, Ex Machina, a part of the Humanoid Liberation Agency/the ones living in the sky, seem to be human sized. But there might be a few special model ones out there like Anassa who serve a unique and important purpose to justify the time, energy, and resources designing and creating them to fulfill their goal.
Now, admittedly, androids in Dragalia would be a weak point in my general knowledge since they never really quite struck a chord with me enough to inspire a fixation on them, but yeah, as far as I can tell, they're human-sized with perhaps some rare exceptions. The most I can say that might not be wholly normal is their apparent tendency towards a sort of gaunt build, which, to be fair, it's not exactly as if they can build muscle to change that.
Hopefully that answered your question satisfactorily!

not tagged this time except by dint of “and anyone else who wants to” but I’m so excited about my newfound ability to Make Words that I’m posting another wip snippet! this is from the multi-chapter post-finale Mob fic i’m working on:
As they left the restaurant, Reigen dropped a hand on Teruki’s shoulder.
“You know, this got me thinking,” he said. “Your parents are working overseas, right?”
“Yes,” said Teruki, with the sort of practiced ease that Reigen exuded at the office every day. “But I’m perfectly happy with the independence it’s provided me!”
“Yeah, yeah, of course. But I imagine not everyone sees it that way, yeah?”
Teruki’s mouth was a thin line. “Mm.”
Reigen produced a business card from his pocket with a flourish. The effect was somewhat spoiled when his foot caught on the sidewalk and he had to windmill his arms to stay upright, but the card floated over to Teruki’s hand with a flash of yellow and a whiff of ozone.
“All I’m saying is,” Reigen told him when he’d recovered his balance, “I’m an adult who actually lives in Seasoning City, if your school ever needs you to produce one. Standing offer. Think of it as a thank you for helping out around the office.”

it makes me laugh a little bc i was so scared of showing my crocheted isopod to the group bc these women are all in their 60s-80s and they've been knitting for most of their lives so they're all way more advanced than I am, and my isopod turned out swell but it is a tad wonky, the shell plates are not perfectly lined up etc etc
so i was scared they were going to react to it like "ohh isn't that neat :)" sort of patronizing when u can tell they think smth is darling in the same way a child's drawing is darling fsdjkl, but NO !!
THEY WERE ALL SO IMPRESSED. like genuinely in awe and delighted by this little critter HFDSFJKL ?? i think it's because they don't make plushie type of things basically ever, they just make clothing type items (i wish i could show yall some of the sweaters these women have made, some of them are absolutely STUNNING), so the isopod was just so much different from what they're used to seeing maybe? and that's why they thought it was so cool?
I DUNNO they just made me bring it out again every time a new person came into the room to join us the day i brought it JFDSJKL and then they'd all pass it around again and fawn over it and i was just so confused and ridiculously pleased bc i'd been so afraid to show it before 😭

𝐂𝐗𝐈𝐈𝐋.One of the recent headcanons I wrote made me think about a small piece of text found on the Scribe's Box that talks about people building a nation without gods and whose words might predate as far in the past as when a sapphire nail dropped in Sal Vindagnyr:
◜I've heard of people who are building a new nation without gods. Perhaps they'll have the power to stand against this world.◞
This makes me think two things:
1) That those who later on would be known as part of the Khaenri'ahn race were already against the gods during the Era of the Saints, predating the Apocalypse and that perhaps there is a slim chance that they have a connection to the dragons of back in the day —not necessarily by blood although it's not entirely impossible either, as Enkanomiya talked about Vishap-people and there is actually a NPC in the event of Three Realms Gathering, so if there was any dragon "open enough" to procreate with humans, there is a chance of this being a thing too— in terms of similar mindset in regards of the gods and the world even if, ironically, humans are Phanes' creation in Teyvat.
2) The second part that addresses a power to stand against this world is soundly in tune with Nibelung's pursuit of a power that could contest Phanes, only to tragically backfire on him, his kin and the whole world— which gives more weight to the belief that at least in a similar mindset kind of manner, these people could've shared the sovereigns' mindset. Furthermore, there is Khaenri'ahn machinery inspired by dragons, which is highly telling that they know of their existence, rare as it is in this world.
