big deep breath OK SO . ive been so excited for this comeback like idk with every new cb i feel like i get even more excited than with the precious one yk so i was really waiting for it to come out!! they released the mv while i was in class (they hate me) but during a little break not long after i managed to watch it and i was bobbing my head and swinging my feet at the sound LJKE U DONT GET IT I WAS GENUINELY SO HAPPY

honestly this is one of my fav svt albums and idk it just makes me so happy all the songs are so perfect and good there's not a single one i don't enjoy and the aesthetic is so cute and im so excited and impatient to FINALLY HAVE MY ALBUM IN MY HANDS ARGHHHH but yes this was such a success im so happy they broke so many records and they just continue to prove how talented they are wooooo

for the songs there isn't one i dislike at all but i really like SOS idk the beat js so nice and the lyrics are really good and this may be also due to me loving marshmello when i was younger but STILL !!! Diamond days makes me SOOOOO NOSTALGIC i love it so much im so glad they used kind off the same sound/sample as Shining Diamond im in love 💔💔 i think back 2 back is my fav song of the album!! i love minghaos highnote and the beat and just the overal vibe idk it stood out to me sm their voices fit the song so well im obsessed with the part around 1.30 where dino and hao sing in like a low voice? it genuinely is one of my faves too, like although the songs aren’t necessarily my fave of each unit (i still LOVE each one) the album was just so well put together ?? everything flowed perfectly and like usually it’ll take me like two or three listens to like some songs but i listened to the album start to finish ONCE and fell in love w EVERYTHING i’m not even kidding ❤️‍🔥 I CANR WAIT FOR MY ALBUMD TO GET HERE AYSHSHAHDJHS

Literally no one asked for this but i decided to do my ranking of NPMD songs because I’ve seen some people do it on yt. I don’t post on yt and I’m shit at video editing so here we are-

This is all my personal opinions based on how much I enjoy the songs and how often I listen to them (also partly based on the scenes, choreo, etc) so please don’t lynch me, everyone’s allowed their opinions.

This was really hard for me because I actively listen to the songs from 11 onwards and I’m likely to change my mind as I listen to the album more so take this with a grain of salt. This is probably my favourite album that Starkid’s ever done.

Do not expect any coherent comments for this ranking as I’m terrible at articulating my thoughts, but just know that all these songs are incredible and they all hold a special place in my heart.

15. Go Go Nighthawks!

I don’t dislike this song tbh just very neutral towards it. I really enjoy the “fuck you Clivesdale” portion of the song but other than that, I can’t really say I listen to it. Kim and Bryce’s splits were incredible though holy shit.

14. The Best of You

This song, like many have said, is a bit too Disney channel for me. I like the scene and Steph and Pete are a really cute couple but not really into the song.

13. Bully the Bully

I love the scene for this, Angela’s choreo is brilliant and I think it’s a cute little song. The only reason it’s this low is because I don’t really listen to it outside of watching the show.

12. Bury the Bully

OKAY THIS ONE HURTS BECAUSE IVE REALLY GROWN TO APPRECIATE THIS REPRISE AND I THINK ITS BRILLIANT, HOWEVER, similarly to bully the bully, I don’t listen to it outside of outside of the show. Unfortunately cannot rank it higher than this as I enjoy the rest of the songs more :(

11. Nerdy Prudes Must Die

I’m ashamed that this is so low just purely based on Jon’s incredible “I’m not a loser” and Will Brenner’s amazing performance, HOWEVER, I’m not as into the rest of the song so unfortunately it is ranked as it is. The scene is pure genius though holy shit. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.

10. Cool As I Think I Am

I had a hard time deciding between 11 and 10 but cool as I think I am just took it in regards to the fact that I actually listen to this song in my own time. What can I say? I’m a sucker for Joey’s Bug type roles and solos. Goes to show how much I enjoyed the album that this song I actively enjoy is ranked so low.

9. Dirty Dudes Must Die

This was originally higher on my list but I have since grown to enjoy other songs more but make no mistake, I think this is a great ending to the show and I adore Angela’s unhinged performance as Grace. The “who will pray for you?” reprise coming from Grace of all people is *chefs kiss*.

8. If I Loved You

Mariah and Joey’s vocals willed this ranking into existence. I love a good duet between characters who are obviously attracted to each other but for some reason, are desperate to act like they aren’t. While I don’t believe this is the strongest love duet in Starkid history (that belongs to the way I do imo), I do think it’s a sweet and a catchy tune overall.

7. Cool As I Think I Am (Reprise)

I did not appreciate this song as much as i should’ve when I first watched the show, but recently I’ve been listening to it a lot more and it’s just the perfect combination of cool as I think I am and if I loved you. Absolutely devastated me upon first watch.

6. Literal Monster

Honestly, when I first watched the show, I didn’t like this song very much and was very surprised when I saw that it had one of the highest views out of the album. I’ve listened to it a lot more since then and it’s genuinely been the biggest change from my original ranking to this one now. The harmonies are incredible, Kim is as always a queen, Will Brenner’s section is so good idek what to say. But yeah, I really like this song.

5. Dirty Girl

I know this is very controversial as it is currently first place for my poll on people’s least favourite/least listened to song. Like most people, the scene makes me extremely uncomfortable BUT THE VOCALS !!!!! I genuinely love the song it’s such a banger and Angela and Will’s voices go so well together it’s actually insane. (I do still cringe every time I hear the words “dirty girl soup”).

4. High School is Killing Me

Probably the best opening Starkid has ever done. I’m a big sucker for group numbers so it has that going for it. Idk what else to say really, I just love the song.

3. Hatchet Town

I 👏 LOVE 👏 THIS 👏 SONG 👏 arguably one of the best act 2 openers, I am a sucker for group numbers as mentioned above and the tune of hatchet town is just so good. I particularly enjoy the chorus and the ending.

1. Just For Once

Probably the most controversial ranking I’ve ever done but SUE ME, I think this song is brilliant and a modern masterpiece. Someone said it gave them Falsettos vibes which absolutely contributes to why I love it so much but theres just so much else going for it. I could write a whole essay on the importance of just for once but I’ll spare you for now. All I’m going to say is that this song slaps and I will take no other answer :)

anipoke characters as k-pop stans

ash likes temp groups. he probably cried when iz*one disbanded ( but who didn’t ) but still stans all the members in their current activities. he also loves somi and the other ioi members a lot. he’d only listen to k-pop casually tbh, and never really go on social media to talk about them cause he’s only heard the horror stories of it.

misty is a shawol. and she just generally likes the old sm groups. she’s still going ring ding dong ring ding dong ring diggy ding diggy ding ding ding in 2023. she posts a ton of updates of her biases and their songs, but her accs are usually filled with a bunch of old memes and ‘get jjonged’ videos.

gary’s an nctzen. sadly. he really only stans yuta, taeyong, jaemin, and a few others, because he has to keep his mental capacity. he knows anything and everything about every scandal they’ve ever had just so he can call out people for saying bullshit on his tl. chloe’s also an nctzen, but she’s jaehyun biased and doesn’t really dislike any of the members. their friends all cried when they heard sticker.

iris is the 3rd nctzen, she just doesn’t like sticker as much. which like, okay. she’s a dreamzen. she likes mark and w- jisung. i can’t call him that here. always finds herself talking to the dumbest people on stantwt. she likes more girl groups, though. and she watches those hello82 ateez videos on youtube.

goh is a taeyeon biased sone. he didn’t just have no friends because he didn’t want to talk to anyone, but because nobody would dance to gee with him. he got jessica jung’s book only because snsd, but then he realized the book was uh. not the greatest. gets into arguments all the time and has the sm entertainment apology post format memorized.

may’s a reveluv. seulgi biased. she buys pcs off social media even if they’re super expensive cause they look nice. kiawe’s also a reveluv, a HUGEEEE one. joy & yeri biased. he makes a hit tweet once a week and ( somehow ) is never in fanwars because everyone knows he’s right. they’re listening to birthday and peekaboo at this moment.

dawn is a . . . bunny? is that what newjeans stans are called?? i jst call myself a nwjns stan i actually have no idea. she does all the choreographies in her room, and she’s danielle and minji biased. has a bunch of lightsticks because she thinks they look cool in her room.

serena’s a sana biased once. knows every single dance even if she’s never done them in her life. she collects photocards and albums, probably has a photocard binder or a few. people keep trying to argue with her on stantwt so she has everybody blocked.

gladion’s another once. all the people he knows thinks he’s some fucking edgelord ( and he is, he’s not denying it ) and then they listen to his playlists full of what is love and heart shaker. nayeon stan. he also listens to a lot of bibi, though. people keep making him dance to love shot??? he just wants to go to bed??

lana stans whatever she feels like at the moment tbh. she’s a yunjin ult and keeps telling people to stop filling up her feed with garam because she was only in the group for 2 weeks. has a super aesthetic layout on every platform she’s on. i’m not saying she’s a doxxer, but she definetly has mutuals who are.

sophocles is a ningning ult. barely even listens to aespa, he’s there for ningning and her only. people would think he’d be into those ai groups, he really isn’t. probably listens to (g)i-dle and nmixx too. knows all the lyrics and dances to his faves’ songs.

lillie’s an insomnia and a neverland. she’d never listen to any of her brother’s playlists tbh. very much yuqi and gahyeon biased. listens to shitty podcasts, probably makes some. she probably makes those ‘unpopular opinions’ videos and a ton of analyses, but she actually tries not to hate every single song ever.

overview & schedules

ash continues to live in his studio

he’s at a really busy point of writing/producing/recording for his album with finishing songs and getting no sleep

thinks he’s almost done with the album but he ends up not being happy / feeling finished with it + i think some time this quarter, it gets locked in as his english-language debut and the album process gets delayed

his workaholic tendencies are kicking into overdrive again. though he’s been selective with his solo schedules since returning from hiatus so that he’s not dedicating a ton of energy to stuff he finds pointless (photoshoots, variety, brand deals, etc.), polaris schedules + all of his work in the studio is still tiring, especially considering how unhappy he is with polaris schedules these days

most solo schedules for the next few months will be festivals, so that could be a plot point if anyone was planning a festival stage claim for their muse and maybe ash could perform there as well if it works

is more actively unhappy with polaris’s direction than he’s ever been in his career. that’s not to say he hasn’t disliked it or felt dissonance with it before (i mean he literally debuted feeling that way), but putting so much energy into resenting dynamite and then getting butter to show for it... it certainly encourages him to throw himself into his own music even more

pretty unhappy / low mentally and emotionally. just tired and unmotivated to talk to anyone or leave his house. anyone he’s close to might recognize these signs. they’re free to bring it up. or not. bringing it up probably won’t end well anyway

his next album is going to be his english-market debut so dimensions has been pushing his name out there with lollapalooza, new year’s rockin’ eve, etc. they might throw him into some english-language magazines and maybe some collabs this year after his album comes out too (plus plans of touring post-album release)

there was a point ash would have been happy about this but right now he just feels like it’s an uphill battle against dynamite and butter because he wants to be known for his music in his home country, not those songs

is praying dynamite doesn’t win the grammy and is happy when it doesn’t ngl !

is also feeling irritated because he stopped taking brand deals solo because it made him feel like a sellout and now that’s like half of what polaris does lmao

so overall, he’s just... irritated, unhappy, buried in his solo work

base awards

ash would rather not be there tbh? agrees with the people who say it’s just the companies sucking themselves off lmao. will probably express this with only a little prompting.

he is invested in his solo stage since a lot of his vision for the mito world is in it, but mostly in his self-obsessed ‘you wouldn’t understand’ artist way, not so much in an endearing, fun, let’s talk about it way unfortunately 😭

is nominated for a few different awards. will say he doesn’t care. will probably still get annoyed if he doesn’t win.

not the most fun person to interact with, but he can probably keep it civil (and most likely low energy) with anyone he doesn’t already dislike lmao

he doesn’t want to go to the afterparty tbh, even to get wasted, but i’ll probably say he goes unless i don’t end up having any threads there. he won’t stay for a long time unless he has a reason to since he’s got to leave for la without sleep right after

idk i feel like in every single plot call i’m like ash is irritable he can fight someone but like... yeah... he can. fully possible he’s an asshole even to people he usually gets along with.

but also possible he strikes up an unlikely friendly moment with someone he doesn’t know too well if we want to pretend he has redeemable qualities! especially if they can give each other a space to vent

also possible he shows up to the afterparty smelling like he really committed to pregaming and gaslights gatekeeps girlbosses anyone who tries to point it out (ash vc: snitch)

can someone make ash cry. idk where. idk when. he needs to feel something

or someone rope him into some kind of drinking game. sounds fun (to me).

plots

anything revolving around music production and ash’s time in the studio is a strong potential point. he’s hesitant to share too much of what he’s working on album-wise right now, but he’d be happy to listen to other people’s work and/or discuss anything around that. he has some internal conflict about self-indulgence vs authenticity, love of music vs force of habit, etc that could be a topic of discussion

like i mentioned already, very willing for him to ruin some friendships / otherwise positive connections this quarter

alternatively, someone kinda doing a little ‘intervention’ or at least expressing some concern about him. either to remind him people still care or to knock some sense of reality into him to get his shit together depending on the tone.

or just a moment where he actually leaves the studio and has some down time spent with someone else (something pretty low energy, just chilling) and he gets closer to them or if they’re already close he gets to enjoy human connection for once

speaking of human connection, ash feeling the touch of another human again for once would make some of the songs on his album easier to write lmao. would need discussion but i’d like to explore ash being willing to open himself up to intimacy again, whether it’s a slow or fast process. honestly this probably works best with someone he’s not super close to (yet?)

it’d be nice for ash to have a redeeming / positive plot in all of his mess of a newly blossoming friendship he hasn’t fucked up yet as well? again discussion would be needed to find how / why their friendship works, but that little light in the darkness would be good :)

Favourite Thing To Cook/Bake: I like making vegetable chilli, mainly because I know exactly how I like it and I know all the ingredients are fresh and tasty! I also like to just be able to throw on some fun music and sing my heart out while I chop various vegetables. When it comes to baking, not to blow my own trumpet or anything but I make an amazing Victoria sponge cake. With raspberry jam and fresh chantilly cream ah its delicious.

Favourite Craft To Do In Your Free Time: I like those diamond art kits because they’re repetitive and impossible to fuck up lol. I can just throw on my favourite album and get going without really having to think about it all that much! And you get something sick for your wall once you’re done too!

Most niche dislike: Slow walkers in public places who don’t move to the side to allow fast walkers myself the chance to overtake them. Like yeah, yeah I get it, we’re in a shopping centre for some leisurely shopping time, but also if you’re walking at like -2mph and blocking the entire path when I just want to yeet to Primark and get what I need then I should be able to execute you via firing squad. Sorry lol.

Do You Have Any Sense Of Direction: Once I’ve got my bearings in a place I’m usually pretty good. On road trips I usually earn the role of front seat navigator!

Tell Us About Your D&D Character: I don’t currently have an active character, however, I am currently planning a campaign for a few friends. It’s essentially a heist movie, set in a Vegas-like city. The party are approached by Charles (I stole all the names from F1 Drivers because why not, right?) who is the beloved prince of their nation. He reveals that he had lost his crown to the unscrupulous Lord Fernando in a game of magic poker. The party are tasked with stealing the crown back by any means necessary before the King realises what his son had done. So essentially a heist movie, but with magic users. And a vampire.

I genuinely don’t think I know anyone else who wasn’t already tagged when I was lol, so this is a completely open tag, wherever wants to do this, I give you permission!!!

ok lots of stuff has come out since I was last actually active

zb1 debut I didn’t expect to like at all but was pleasantly surprised! in bloom has breakbeat so erm they got me w that one folks it makes me very happy 😔 it’s so funny that the digital album cover says YOU in the HAD though lol. mini giving a bit of 2nd gen revival but it is not a carbon copy, it’s got a unique sort of shine, very bright and summery! smart of the company to not immediately box them in by adhering too close to that trend

exo exist I enjoyed, it’s good, but honestly wasn’t blown away? private party and let me in are standout tracks, I love those!! cream soda also good I guess but didn’t grab me like those did. i heard they edited Cinderella since it dropped on streaming lmao. that one I liked a lot but did not like the lyrics I could understand so it did not go on my playlists. due for a relisten tbh esp since the edit… ill prob prefer the first way I heard it

istj genuinely fun to listen to, also not blown away by the album as a whole but it’s def worth a listen. very much LOVE the song SOS, tt is good, I even didn’t dislike the ending ballad (tho I wish they stuck to the guitar and piano and nixed the syrupy orchestrations). poison is incredibleeee I like it a ton. unusual sound for dream but because haechan is there they pulled it off perfectly. beware though there is some. how shall I say it. kpop-typical rap scattered across the album

also I haven’t seen any of the music videos or performances for any of these since my internet has been un-ideal but I hope to get to it eventually!

kinda hard to say tbh! theres no genre i actively dislike, so the most i can say is that im unfamiliar with some genres. an example could be hiphop, never really got into it, but a hiphop album i really like is igor by tyler, the creator

unfortunately no! i got a really cheap acoustic guitar a few years ago to try to learn but the bridge broke and i kinda gave up lmao. id really like to try to learn piano or something keyboard based, though

YES, I'm curious about the Chen mini album!! I admit I'm usually not a huge fan of ballads (I think I've said it before? 😅 not sure - and there are exceptions, of course) but I REALLY loved "Shall We", it was such a gorgeous song (I guess it wasn't a "typical ballad", either!). Wonder what his next title track is gonna be like! Argh, I haven't watched the behind the scenes videos from Brand New yet, though... But I remembered how someone (I think on Facebook?) pointed out how on the "wheel of fortune"(?? not sure what the correct English term is tbh) that you see in the Brand New MV, the symbols on it point to events in EXO's recent past (like rain for Suho's mini album and the 🎉 emoji for EXO's anniversary) - that person speculated that the symbols following were indicators for future EXO activities and the next symbol up was a cloud, which they speculated was for a Chen mini album. So it turned out to be correct! 😳 I'm so curious because the next symbols were wind (which would indicate... Sehun solo???) and a sun (which that person speculated was for Chanyeol - which I DO hope, he's been waiting for SO long - but I guess it might also be Baekhyun? Though his discharge is still some time away...).

Ahem, anyway 😅 As for dramas, the only one I ever watched start to finish was "Memories of the Alhambra", I LOVED that one OMG. I admittedly started watching for Chanyeol, but since he isn't in it much, I really watched it to the end just because it was THAT good. I watched a few episodes of "100 Days My Prince" but then I sort of lost interest? It wasn't bad, I'm just really not good at sticking with things most of the time. Oh, and I watched "How Are You Bread"! Good thing it was short. 😂 Don't think I've ever watched any non-EXO related dramas... But yesss, I'm happy for Suho, I remember him saying he wants to do more acting!! 😊 As for Chanyeol's dramas (other than MotA) - I started watching "EXO Next Door" (does that count? 😂) but it was so cringey I kind of couldn't get myself to go on (not that I disliked it, it was just kind of too much for me to take?? I still want to finish it at some point!! 😂). I don't think I've watched any others...

Oof. Looks/eras for Chanyeol... There's a few. 😂 Yes, I enjoyed his Obsession look. Generally him with light pink hair (so Obsession and The War era), OR with red hair (Overdose, Ex'act/Lotto) OR with silver hair (Exodus/Love Me Right, Don't Fight The Feeling) are my favourites. But argh, the white blonde look was good, too 😣 The photoshoot question is difficult, I don't think I have too many particular photoshoots in mind... so I'm afraid I can't really answer that question, sorry dear Santa. 😓 I'll try to give it some thought...

favorite time of year: I usually say a tie between summer and fall- my birthday is in summer and the season just has such an air of fun even though I’m quite heat sensitive, and fall is HALLOWEEN TIME plus has my ideal temperatures... but since I’ve gotten more into nature this past year or so I get really excited by spring, seeing all the plants and flowers start to pop up for the first time... I feel bad saying ‘everything but winter’ though because I actually don’t dislike winter ^^;;

comfort food: Uuuum probably any pasta I guess? For some reason I’m having trouble thinking of what this would be. Or cinnamon rolls. Or maybe knüdel- these potato dumplings with breadcrumbs that are my favorite holiday food ^.^

do you collect something: I collect probably too many things tbh- mostly dolls and various other kinds of toys. My Monster High collection is my biggest and most active!

favorite drink: Vanilla coke or mango pepsi. I love soda a lot. Or, if this means alcoholic drinks, I like things that are very sweet and don’t taste like alcohol ^^; Piña coladas would be my favorite!

favorite song: I really do not have one single overall favorite song... can I cheat and say album? That’d have to be Wicked; it is entwined with my soul at this point

current favorite song: I’m on a minor Cats kick right now and have been starting my day with Jellicle Songs for Jellicle Cats (theatre elitists can leave)

favorite fic: One would probably expect me to have something Ace Attorney here, but it’s actually been a while since I’ve actively read fanfiction in general... not out of lack of interest, just out of... idk it hasn’t happened. cheese - yes same, i liked it but that was all there was, it wasnt a super standout track. it was rlly underwhelming for me but some of the hook is super catchy so there is Redemption (tm) in store for cheese maybe

thunderous - mmm, yeah at first i totally agreed, i think they suffer from too much good music syndrome, that all their other tracks are such fucking bops its hard to stay at that level of perfection. the choreo was beautiful tho and tbh, the track has grown on me since ive been watching all the vids abt it. its my brothers favourite track

domino - YES GODAMMIT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE TITLE TRACK. the raps, the vocals, the vibes, the fucking domino sound in the back? i would have streamed that shit on repeat. but tbh, as good as it is, it doesnt have that sort of grandness/oomph that skz seems to like in their title tracks so i can see why they chose thunderous (tho domino would have been so good) *sigh*

ssick - yeah same, not my fave track by a long mile, the crowd cheering was a ?strange? choice and the chorus was a bit bare/empty, plus like i mentioned earlier, it was kinda funny to me for some reason but ill still play it if im playing thru the whole album

the view - ahh one of those not like other girls (/j) i honestly think its just a good party song, just a bop to play in the background when nobodys rlly paying much attention. its pretty generic pop music but catchy

sorry, i love you - hehe yeah i thought it was going to be sadder as well, but i rlly loved the fact that they all just got to sing, which almost never happens, i dont think ive heard felix sing for a long time, so i enjoyed it. wasnt rlly a standout track but i just casually like it. looking forward to the fic haha

silent cry - this song i swear, some bits are rlly good and then others are just? why?? it does sound like a dance song tho idk. definitely not one of my faves either

secret secret - YES its so good! its such a chill song and i love their vocals in it. the combination of lo-fi/fake strings backup stuff and their heavenly vocals just makes it *chefs kiss* im listening to it rn and just... its so beautiful. it gives me pumped up another day vibes ya know? like my pace is edgy get cool, this one is energetic another day i feel like. overall i love it

STAR LOST - ah thats so cool! i didnt know that! on first listen this song had a similar vibe to secret secret but then the beat came in and ahh its such a good song. i can totally imagine them putting this song to a concert footage vid, this song is so sweet.

red lights - LMAO YES ITS SO AWKWARD WHY DOES IT GO ON FOR SO LONG ah thats good! yeah good point, its quite intense hehe. but that is my fave trope and this is lowkey my favourite track on the album so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ just the combination of hyunjins and chans voices, the backing music, the lyrics ahh red lights my beloved

surfin’ - yes lmao its always a shock, i feel like they should have put gone away in between them, but its such a fun cute song, i cant get rlly mad. yeah, as an aussie i think im contractually obligated to like beaches lol. sand im not such a fan of, but my familys rlly into fishing and my brother loves bodyboarding so we stay at a beach house at least twice a year and we live like 5 mins from 3 different beaches (hehe all aussie cities are on the coast lol) so thats cool. do you like beaches?

gone away - ah gone away my beloved, i love this song sm, its just so pure and showcases their vocals and lyrics so well. yes the pitch change is very out of the blue, i feel liek they went directly from seungmins soft vocals to hans powerful ones which was an interesting choice, but hey, im not complaining

wolfgang - YES IKR ah im so happy he got to be included in that era and song. yeah its such a full on song i cant rlly listen to it if im in a quiet mood but its very motivating :)

restructuring task 1

1. assuming your muse has changed in some way, be it internally or as a result of a change of the external factors around them, how is your muse different? these can be as small as an opinion on a song they hadn’t released previously or as big as a major change in their background.

wc: 365

idk if i’ve said this on dash yet, but i’m treating new famed more or less like an au. in sung’s au, the defining change is that he was let go from gold star when he had his injury as a trainee. it was always my headcanon that they truly were close to cutting him loose anyway, so this is just the other side of that. he had his injury, got plastic surgery to try to appease them into keeping him, and they still let him go. when he went home his parents said alright u tried that now join the fam business n sung freaked bc he realized he doesnt want that for himself so he went to do smth he also hated, and joined the military. while there he still worked on his dance and vocals whenever he had a moment to do so, so that when he was discharged and started auditioning again, he wasn’t so rusty

he is a year younger in this world, just bc of quantum’s age range, not for any other reason. makes him a little less of a cradle robber in his relationship lol which, another change is that daisuke wouldn’t have been his first kiss, just first everything else

quantum is very different from old element and new element, but it’s very in line with what i liked about quicksilver (& has models from that) and he’s a leader! this is an idea ive toyed with a lot over the last three years tbh. at first i didn’t think sung suited a leader position, but he came to show me he’s just a different kind of leader. i liken him to jinki often in this regard. rather than lassoing members in, he supports them being however they are, and takes an intimate/emotional path to gaining their trust and leading them. and while he wasn’t suited for the full business life, what he learned from his father’s teachings helps him in dealing with the company as the group’s representative there (& he loves a good powerpoint presentation)

other timeline stuff for big events in his life are likely to shift but i’m not sure on specifics yet

2. what does your muse think of their company and their group?

wc: 260

as the child of a businessman, he’s never under the illusion that as a company entity, their first priority is their wellbeing. he knows that they are products, and that they’re treated as such. it’s a bit heavier with dimensions than gold star, since gold star makes a more active effort to pretend they care. however, once having accepted that, sung thinks himself and dimensions work well together. he does feel that for a company, they allow himself and his members to be a part of the creative process, as says their motto. he feels much more encouraged to write songs and choreograph under dimensions than he did under gold star, where it felt like he was constantly on his knees begging for the company to take him seriously

as for quantum, sung really loves what they’re about. he’s not a big fan of all (or most) of their songs, though he’s more loving towards a song written by another member even if it’s the same sound he dislikes, but he absolutely loves being focused on performance and concepts. his creative mind works very much on the basis of story and emotion that comes with it, and he feels like quantum’s concepts sometimes to often lean into his tastes. he’s always been a dancer first and foremost (god am i so glad to have his main dancer title back i MISSED u) so focusing on performance is v much up his alley, and his preferred style of dance is through storytelling. he feels the heart of dance is in that

3. is your muse on their first contract or their second? if they’ve renewed, what were their feelings around that at the time and what were their hopes for their second contract? if they haven’t renewed, what are their current thoughts on the end of their eventual first contract?

quantum’s on their first contract still, up for renewal in 2024. at the current moment, he would like to re-sign. however, unlike my others, his re-signing depends more heavily on the other members. if they were unhappy and wanted to leave, sung would want to follow suit, not because he can’t make his own decisions, but because if the reason the members want to leave is because of the company, not quantum, he’d want to try to help quantum continue to live. if that means all of the members leaving in order to rebrand under another company, so be it. he’d like to avoid lineup changes however he can, and ideally would like to be an idol for as long as possible

he himself feels alright about his treatment. he feels creatively stimulated, and appreciated for talents further than his face. if he were to try to negotiate different terms at their contract renewal, part of it would likely be wanting to give members a higher share of profits, especially on releases they’re creatively involved in. sung personally has no use for excessive money, but not all of his members have his background, and he feels more than just the money, it’s what’s fair. he’d also prefer to allow for more creative freedom. as a 7/8 year group by then, he’d think they should be allowed to take the reigns more heavily. and on his personal side of things, he would want dimensions to be more mindful of his schedule. sung enjoys working, but he’s only one person, who doesn’t want to be overworked. these are all just his current thoughts, though, and will probably change before contract renewal comes up

4. what are your muse’s goals and motivations?

wc: 294

his motivations to be ‘successful’ and/or achieve his goals are his family, namely being someone his nephew and niece can be proud of, and someone his parents can feel was worth letting go of. he feels closer to the latter than he did in old famed. his members motivate him to be a good leader, his desire to grow as a creator motivates him to write and choreograph

specific goals could be bigger like his desire for more public recognition. while quantum has a lot more recognition both in korea and abroad than element or quicksilver, sung wants the best for his group. he’d be happy if they stayed where they are with their loyal fandom, but he still aims for more

sung also wants to get better at standing up for himself. he’s best at standing up for others, because he can slap on a bit of bravado in order to help them out, but when it comes to himself, especially with his parents, he’s pretty awful at it

he’d also like to create more for quantum, and others. i/he have a goal for him to write a whole album for someone, so if anyone reads this far and could want sung writing for their muse, hit me up!

he’d like to get married and have children one day. that’s always been a dream of his, and while he knows his career doesn’t allow for that soon, it’s still on his docket

he wants to spend more time with his family, especially his nephew and niece. they’re so new to the world and learning everything, and sung wants to be a part of that. he doesnt want his part in their early lives to be ‘i don’t really remember seeing him back then’

5. what is one conflict, internal or external, that your muse is currently dealing with, has recently dealt with, or will need to deal with in the future?

wc: 291

at some point, this bitch is gonna have to admit he’s a homiesexual. in his previous version, it was a lot easier for him to ‘i pretend i do not see it’ when it came to that. sung’s very ignorant when it comes to the queer community in korea, so he’s not even really aware of terms beyond gay, maybe trans. but, terms aside, he always thought he was someone who liked women, and daisuke and a couple of others were just outliers. they were the Special ones outside of his jurisdiction that were just too good for him to not notice. aka he believed he was bi. and now, he still does, but i have less faith he’ll be able to hold that up until he dies like i did before, because he’s actually dated at least one woman before in this world. considering the plot has yet to be picked up, i don’t know the specifics, but i do think it’s harder to run away from when the way he treated a relationship with a woman and a relationship with a man were lightyears away from one another. it’s still possible for him to run away from the truth of the situation, but it’s also very possible that one day, his thoughts on it will shake, and everything will click into place (messily,, probably the messiest clicking ever) it would be a difficult thing for him to come to terms with, though i think it’s better for him in the longterm to truly know who he is, and why he acts the way he does, why he feels the way he does about women vs men. it’s also nice just to not live a lie, even if only privately

6. if your muse has established career claims, what are their thoughts on their career so far? if they do not, how do they feel about not having individual activities yet? what would they like to do in the future, if anything? if they don’t have ambitions for individual activities, explain why.

sung has a pretty filled history of individual activities. most are points claims with a focus on modelling, his radio, and music, though he’s dipped into pretty much ever facet of idoldom, some with more success than others. his ecp expenditures flesh that out a little more, and add a bit more realism, and/or make sense of the group changes. he had a one year modelling contract with the north face, and while official claims aren’t possible, i was inspired by a couple of things rowoon did with them. there was more of a push on an eco-friendly side of things, and there was a bit of dancing. playing into his group position with dancing i feel is fitting, but the eco friendly part i also feel could round out his image more as a good, kind boy who also can be sexy, whereas before, his earlier modelling claims focused a lot more on the sexy aspect, because it fit element and his trajectory there better. here, it makes him more dual sided from the beginning. north face is also just a nice, strong brand that i think is fitting for a pretty boi. i set it a bit after a year out from debut because i feel like that’s the most realistic, especially for a group like quantum that grew audience with each comeback

part of that first year being focusing only on the group ties into his creative claims as well! his first creative claim was with the bside love, lalala on the eternity ep. the nicest part of creative claims being unattached to positions is that all of sung’s claims are the songs in the discography most Him. so love lalala is very jazzy and smooth, and would have served as his first introduction to songwriting, as well as what made him interested in songwriting. then he was a choreographer on error, which is heavily story based, and about the members being a unit, and making beautiful pictures together. i hope to snag intro long journey and outro long journey from the beginning and end of the ateez sector, because they’re beautiful compositions that fit sung’s style, but also having him on both makes him feel like he’s a part of the concept’s creation in an intimate way, which fits with dms. then there’s aurora, which sung partially composed and partially choreographed. the choreography has contemporary flair to it, and the song is a flowing sound that matches that. then there’s partial production on sunrise, which i just love the robotic ass experimental production there, and comp for with u, which i believe ties back into sung’s rediscovering his love of piano. choreo for valkyrie is most similar to error in it’s pretty pictures way, and also has a bit of complex footwork, especially as its point dance, which is also p sung to want to include. and finally, some comp on stand by, which is like a mix of the appeal of aurora and with u methinks? listening to all of his written songs together i feel like really makes a picture of sung’s songwriting so i love that

Alright, time to get controversial 🤣 Is there a Queen song that you absolutely cannot stand?

Yes, definitely! I’ve discussed it briefly before, so I could technically just name a couple of songs, but perhaps it’s time to do something different - I’ll make a catalogue of my most despised/disliked song in each Queen album, going chronologically. LET’S BEGIN HONESTY HOUR

Queen I

Tbh, I don’t even remember what some of the songs on that album sound like XD I usually skip Great King Rat when I listen to my Queen playlist, so perhaps that one? I don’t hate it though

Queen II

This is gonna be very unpopular, but I could never warm myself towards Ogre Battle. No matter how many times I listen to it and TRY to like it I just can’t. The Loser in the End, on the other hand, is a combo of great vocals and cringy lyrics, so the wasted potential actually makes me pretty mad XD

Sheer Heart Attack

All songs are at least decent, thank you

A Night at the Opera

Don’t care about Sweet Lady, the album would be better without it. Don’t hate it, but WHY

A Day at the Races

Again, all songs are at least decent, White Man is my least fave, though. Interested idea, flawed execution imo

According to my old albums review, I gave the lowest score to Sheer Heart Attack, and I still stand by that view I guess. When I watch Queen concerts I’m usually waiting for that song to end as soon as possible

Jazz

Overall, I don’t think it’s the most fortunate album. XD Already forgot most songs, and the only one I actually LOVE is Don’t Stop Me Now. And Jealousy.

The Game

Don’t Try Suicide. Musically it’s not bad, but also not great; it’s the lyrics that makes it terrible.

Hot Space

Ehehehehehe THERE WE ARE. Considering that I genuinely like only three songs and others I merely tolerate or actively despise, it’s gonna be a huge criticfest. XD First place has got to be Body Language, I loathe that one to the point that it makes me physically uncomfortable (the video doesn’t help). Then lands Life is Real (horrible lyrics, I don’t even remember what it sounds liek and I probably don’t want to XD), Cool Cat (sounds like whining to me). Aaand finally yet another fairly popular song, i.e. Back Chat. It’s catchy, but annoyingly so, I don’t fancy it at all.
