Some things to remember about The Hobbit fandom (or any fandom) in case anyone has forgotten or never knew in the first place because I've noticed a rise in posts dripping in The Nonsense (TM):

You can and should characterize however you desire in your fanfiction, fanart, head canons, essays, shit posts, etc. Your Bilbo or Thorin or whoever, however you present them (whatever age, weight, attitude, etc) is correct, as long as it makes you happy.

Remember that other people's opinions are not fact, and if it differs from yours, just give them a Robert Redford Mountain Man style nod and move on (see gif for example):

If you see other people being negative or trashing the styling, characterizations, or head canons you like, just remember there is space for everyone, and its important that you and your ideas are here because it makes the room more interesting! Feel free to block them so you don't have to see content that is negative to you. Don't worry about not following the "most popular kid" in the room.

Learn and grow from exposure to knew ideas and concepts, but don't feel morally or socially pressured to change the things you like because of someone else's more "high-minded" interpretation.

Skinny, twink Bilbo of any age and art style is fine. Dark-Fuck-Prince Thorin of any age is fine. Accurate-to-Tolkien's-description-Hobbits are fine! Gender-bent Bilbo is fine (genderbent ANYONE is fine and is NOT inherently homophobic ffs I WILL GO OFF).

Whatever you like, however you like, is fine! I'm listing these things specifically because they've been called out in other posts in just this last week alone. I wouldn't deny those OP folks their expression, but I don't want it to be the only conversation happening.

Going to the P!nk concert taught me that my fandom brainrot is so bad that now I can't go to a simple concert anymore without only being able to think of that rinney/brance/biffin The Black Phone (2022) fic where Robin, Griffin, and Vance are in a famous band called The Ghost Boys and Robin brings Finney on stage to reveal him as his boyfriend and sings at him, and also Billy is a famous reporter despite not yet having graduated from bOSTON UNIVERSITY and gets the first ever interview with The Ghost Boys through the nepotism of being Finney's roommate, and Bruce is also a hot famous model who also lives with them and I'm unclear as to if he's also going to BU. Also that Finney was famous online under the pseudonym Angel as Robin's boyfriend and the only people that seemed to know who he was were The Ghost Boys, and two random famous people that lived with Finney. How no one figured Finney out before that is bEYOND ME.

But yeah all I can think of every concert now is how entertaining it would be for the celebrity to bring out a surprise boyfriend in a leather skirt and sit them on a stool and sing at them. Imagine if that's what Shawn Mendes did at his next concert or something, that is so fucking funny. Love that fic, it was endlessly entertaining.

for all the unreasonable quality of life adjustment requests i have for ao3, i do think there is exactly one reasonable desire i have for the site, which is to add "on hiatus" and "cancelled/discontinued" categories to the complete/incomplete statuses.

Like ok I’m probably not the one to call folks out on this but my judgement for bedrock bros twt mains is unsurmountable at times. If you want a definition of flanderization and deviation from the plot. They’re right there.

They are probably the closest tbh out of all the sbi combos to folks just writing about, straight up ocs? Or in the worst cases writing uncomfortably close to this warped version of rpf. And I say that because I don’t think I’ve ever read a bedrock bros fic where it’s written ABOUT their characters.

I know the whole point of fanfiction is to explore possibilities, but in bedrock bros fics I feel like Tommy is always woobified or in some way like- unable to care for himself because frostbite made him lose a foot and/or he passed out in the snow from blood loss or something. He’s just a sopping wet creature with no bark or bite, a traumatized punching bag for the plot.

Meanwhile Techno is uncharacteristically caring, while in canon he basically is the first person to not believe Tommy. He is not cTechno, he sometimes isn’t even vaguely anarchical, he is just the idea of someone caring for someone else, with the motifs of the character his cc portrayed in videos sprinkled in.

Yes, the line between cTechno and “cc”Techno was more blurred than with other members of cSBI, or even other members of the DSMP in general, as lore was never seemed too serious with him, but like, idk how to stress the fact I don’t think I’ve ever read a bedrockbros fic ABOUT cTechno and cTommy.

You can have your own interpretations about the two, sure, but Techno literally said “he goes away for two weeks then comes back and makes everyone feel bad for him” about Tommy and his Exile.

He also (albeit jokingly) called after to Dream when he left after looking for Tommy, for him to “take him back”, and he (iirc) knew at that point that something bad had happened in exile.

AND GOD DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON DOOMSDAY OR THE 16TH.

Like- I don’t know. I don’t understand bedrockbro mains, especially on twitter, because 98% of the time they’re never writing or talking about bedrockbros, just these weird flanderized beyond recognition versions of them.
