One of my favorite details about Moriarty brothers is that Albert draws maps for William and they are way too detailed....

so William takes a while to figure out the map, which of course means he's late.

But neither Albert nor Louis are surprised. They don't even comment on his lateness, just move on to others topics: furniture and dinner.

It's not the first time William is late because of Albert's maps, but he doesn't tell them WHY, so Louis and Albert are used to his "lateness" and take it as something completely normal: yes, William is late. Again. And? The sky is blue. Any new information?

Okay, so I don't know if it's just me, but...

Does Yujiro look more...incredulous, maybe slightly hurt, rather than angry???

I dunno this is my millionth time watching the MV but to me he doesn't look very angry. Likely he'd said some off-handed condescending remark as he does and Aizou reacted more negatively to it than normal.

My guess is that Aizou started shouting, and Yujiro did his cool toned smartass replies before Aizou finally grabbed him and landed a hit, and Yujiro, of course, fought back, since Aizou is the one who resorts to violence faster.

I mean, compare his facial expression- and even the look in his eyes, to this frame...

But even here, he looks more annoyed than anything. Mad, but annoyed, mostly.

Aizou in both frames however looks pretty angry.

I dunno, but if Yujiro really was hurt, mad, and annoyed, then I guess it would make this expression make a lot more sense.

He looks like he's crying due to a wide array of emotions. Frustration and remorse comes to mind instantly.

But then compared to Aizou's...

He looks less frustrated and more guilty and defeated than anything. Maybe he feels bad for reacting so terribly??? Or he just hates fighting with Yujiro. I don't know.

But anyway, that's all just a theory- a lipxlip theory !

Hey fandom, have we ever talked about this parallel?

vs.

It's quite literally the same scene, the same facial expressions, the same poses - but the frames are mirrored, and the lighting is the exact opposite, with one scene happening at night, and the other in the midst of the day. I wonder if Whiteley's confession was framed as a flashback just to give it an opposite background color, too.

Both William and Whiteley are crushed by the weight of their very similar crimes, and both don't know what to do next, and need a pep talk about their respective futures, and both receive that gentle guidance in a very similar manner...

...but with an opposite underlying message. Whiteley is encouraged to atone by dying, and William gets to live on.

I wonder if William ever thinks of Whiteley post-fall. If he ever regrets the way he dealt with the situation because he never thought atonement by living on was even possible. I wonder if he would wish he could go back and say to Whiteley the same things he got to hear from Sherlock. I wonder if he ever feels like it's unfair of him to live on, not because of his crimes, but because there was someone else who was denied the same chance he was given. It's one more thing in his past to make peace with, and I wonder what it would take for William to let it go, or if he ever can.
