Work Money Death - Thought, Action, Reaction, Interaction - spiritual jazz from Tony Burkill & ATA Records players
Taking a short sabbatical from their journey into the spiritual stratosphere and beyond, Work Money Death landed on terra firma just long enough to record a follow up to the critically acclaimed “The Space In Which The Uncontrollable Unknown Resides Can Be The Place From Which Creation Arises”. The new album “Thought, Action, Reaction, Interaction” explores many of the meditative motifs that mould this unique group in their quest for the perfect sound and space. Those who are familiar with Work Money Death will know their output is as much an adventure for the listener as it was for the musicians.
Recorded, as always, at ATA studios, a temple purpose built for the worship of all things analogue, “Thought, Action, Reaction, Interactions” is a salute to the now sadly deceased master of the spiritual sound Pharoah Sanders, and in particular the spontaneity of his recording process.
Each of the four tracks on “Thought, Action, Reaction, Interaction” were recorded in one take with no rehearsal and while the players may have known where they were starting off none of them were sure where they would end. As much as it is entertainment, and have no doubt this LP is an unctuous, spirit-smoothing joy from beginning to end, this is an experiment of making music in the moment. Spontaneous and spiritual in its truest sense, “Thought, Action, Reaction, Interaction” is a work of innovation and unsurpassed beauty.
Following in the same vein as previous Work Money Death releases, ATA studio boss Neil Innes conceived the album with tenor sax player Tony Burkill, a vehicle for the latter’s improvisational chops, bolstered by sterling personnel.
As with the previous Work, Money, Death release (which was recorded in difficult conditions due to the Covid pandemic) the aim was to recreate a situation, in this case the impromptu and unrehearsed recording sessions of Sanders in the late 60’s and early 70’s, everything recorded in one take, creating a body of work that is a strong nod to a certain time and ethos but not a pastiche of it.
Tenor Saxophone - Tony Burkill
Double Bass - Neil Innes
Drums - Sam Hobbs
Guitar - Chris Dawkins
Harp - Gareth Wilkinss
Percussion - Headingly Hand Choir
Woodwind and Low Brass - Richard Ormrod
Trumpets, Flugel, French Horn Tuba - Steve Parry
Spoken Word - K.O.G (Kweku Of Ghana)
Choir - The Band & Jasmine Kennedy, Shaneen Mooney

I've gotta admit, the take that Ed and Stede are "running away" from their problems at the end of s2 absolutely baffles me.
The thesis statement of this show, as we know, is "a lot of the things we are taught about being a man are wrong." Harmful ideas of what it means to be a man are at the core of Ed and Stede's issues with themselves: Stede struggle to feel like as much of a man despite loving softer things, Ed's feeling forced into a hyper-masculine caricature of himself. These are the core problems at the heart of these characters, obviously there's more to it but when you boil it down that's what we're working with. This is why Stede's trying to live up the ideal pirate image in s2e7 is important; he's getting a taste of what he thought he wanted so he can choose to leave it behind for what's really important. Ed, too, is still struggling at the end of the season with figuring out who Ed is, once he can break free from the Blackbeard persona.
What would be solved by sailing away, planning to continue as pirates at the end of s2? How would that be addressing their problems or helping them live more authentically? Ed has wanted to leave piracy since we met him, and yes, Stede enjoys piracy, but the idea that piracy is the true and right end-state for him is a very basic reading of the text I think.
Ed and Stede making the decision to try building a life together in their new shack isn't running away from their problems - it's Stede prioritizing Ed over a life of piracy, because piracy isn't what he wanted in the first place. He wanted to be a part of something, he wanted to marry for love, he wanted to be appreciated for who he is. It's Ed finally realizing in the finale that he can use violence as a tool to protect the people he loves, but he's also allowed to step away from it. Will the inn idea work out? Maybe. Maybe not. Who cares? It's not the inn that's important, really, it's that they're both choosing to commit to each other and taking this step towards living more authentically.
We already know exactly what "running away from their problems" would look like, and it's the plan Ed proposed in s1e9. He wanted to run away to China so their old lives could be "gone, dead, never were." Ed just wanted to forget about his past, and Stede was riddled with guilt - wherever they go, there they are. The difference between that plan at the end of s1 and Ed and Stede's new plan at the end of the s2 is, first of all, they're both all in and they know it, and, secondly, they're both getting a lot better at meeting themselves where they're at.

What's stopping the possibility of a ceasefire is pretty simple. Hamas is holding 239 Israeli civilians hostage including children and the elderly. What's happening in Palestine is a travesty and horrendous. But Israel can't initiate a ceasefire from the position they're in, so we need to be agitating for Hamas to release the hostages and call for a ceasefire instead.
NO GENOCIDE IS JUSTIFIABLE
HOW DOES THE KILLING OF INNOCENT PEOPLE ON THIS EXTREME LEVEL FORCE HAMAS TO RETURN HOSTAGES??
ISRAEL'S BOMBARDMENT AND INDISCRIMINATE SHOOTING IN GAZA THREATEN EVERYONE THERE INCLUDING DOCTORS JOURNALISTS CHILDREN ENTIRE FAMILIES AND THE HOSTAGES
EVERYONE IS TARGETED
YOU HAVE HOSPITALS BOMBED HOW ANY OF THIS IS JUSTIFIED

h-how do you ever finish any of your work? genuine question because you seem to be productive despite your agreste syndrome and I need to learn your ways. but also how do you ever finish any of your work
unclear. last night i stayed up and finished a report worth 25% of my grade at about 5am, arrived on time for my 9am lecture, and spent about half of it zoned out while thinking about seventeen year old emilie agreste. and i was one of the most active participants in the class discussion

I genuinely wasn't expecting the enormous amount of statistical data linked and referenced in the #renewasacrew change.org petition, but damn.
I don't think Zaslav will walk back on this, but I do think there's a strong chance for another platform to pick it up-- in the modern streaming era we've seen it for Brooklyn 99, Community, Lucifer, The Expanse, One Day at a Time, and others, and that's not including shows that got final seasons (or even movies) well after their original airing, or classic shows that formed the blueprint for how this sort of pick-up could happen, or--
Well, okay, and also not counting that time enough people bugged the shit out of Arthur Conan Doyle that he finally threw his hands up and said FINE.
Anyway. Check out the data research embedded in the petition. In aggregate... it's pretty goddamn fishy that Zaslav decided this was a show to be cut. But it's a strong case as to why another platform should pick it up:

so am i right saying that men in the realm were opposite the idea to put woman on the throne - not because it was against the law because it was stated many times in books that they may have stronger claims than their male relatives - and that's why visenya, rhaena, aerea, daenerys, rhaenys and laena didn't get their chance, that's why the men were weird the fck out when viserys called rhaenyra his heir disinheriting daemon but y'all say that after aegon's birth he was the rightfull heir cause of some law you state does exist (also some calling the law "son before daughter, daughter before brother" as if that wouldn’t mean that rhaenyra was the heir since her birth all along before daemon)
and you - and the westerosi "historians" - call rhaenyra the usurper or pretender for sitting on the throne acknowledging at the same time that she was supported by many houses - the whole north, arryn, velaryon, beesburry, caswell, fell etc - mostly leaded by men
so y'all really try to say that rhaenyra targaryen was a woman AND a usurper in the realm who refused the crown to female heirs for years even though she was supported by the very same men that freaked out hearing she's the heir of viserys, how the fck a woman in westeros had any chance to usurp the throne if she wasn't acknowledged publicly by most (ekhem every ehkem ekhem) of the houses as truthful heir? how?? who would support a pretender woman against male heir in westeros? it was a male pretender against female rightful ruler all the way

Coins are Essential to Hellenic Worship and Witchcraft
In Ancient Greece Drachmae (the coins/currency of the time) were used not just in everyday life but honoring the dead. It was believe that coins were offered to the deceased right before they were buried. The coins were given to grant the spirits passage to the underworld by paying Charon who will ride across Acheron, a river in the underworld to the afterlife, fearing they will get stuck on the shores if they don’t have the payment to cross. Though it is a very old superstition it is still very important to offer such a gift to the spirits that crossed over, though whether you don’t believe such a belief or do about paying the ferryman the act of the gesture is a sign of great respect and admiration for the departed. Collect your spare change and don’t be afraid to use them for various reasons:
- Offer them to your ancestors.
- Place a coin on gravestones when you visit a cemetery.
- Offer coins to your deities as money being one of the great sacrifices to give to them even if it’s just a penny.
You can also do spell work with coins as charms, divination (flipping heads or tails), talismans, focal point of power, etc.
