Okay I'm so tired this might not be sensible but I just want to say I am loving what QSMP is doing with the Federation workers. Look at them! They have parties, they have a coffee break room, they have partners and hopes and dreams! And also the unethical human experiementation and the torture and the dystopian regime. And fun posters of each other!
It's such a fun depiction of an evil organization, and I think so much stronger than just moustache-twirling villains. These guys have crushes on people and pick up vocal tics from islanders and get each other with rainbow jelly, and also they can be trusted about as far as we can trust them. It's delicious villains, I am crunching it in my jaws.

Amnesia: The Bunker and Its Commentary of The Horror of War
For the purpose of this analysis let’s look at the aspects of the game— its characters, its setting, it’s period— as embodying concepts rather than just representing them.
First and foremost: I think the setting of a desolate and arguably isolated war bunker is a very strategic setting both gameplay and lore wise. This isn’t a commentary of the gameplay, though, so I’ll keep that bit simple: it’s claustrophobic, it’s murky, it’s lonely, it’s brutal. It scares you.
In a sense, though, this location also aptly represents the situation many soldiers found themselves in. I couldn’t find any statistics for France specifically, but in the States, 72% of soldiers were draftees, so we can reasonably assume that the percentage of French draftees was at least more than half.
This, of course, is a very ensnaring position to be in. You are plucked from what you know and tossed into a world that society as a whole is unfamiliar with, unequipped to handle. You experience atrocities you cannot even process. You see death, and learn of the great many things that are worse than that.
There is a religious undertone in The Bunker both in the way the soldiers interact with each other and in, of course, the otherwordly religion that ultimately drives the garrison to their demise. For all intents and purposes, Henri has been abandoned by God. He is trapped. He is lonely. He is scared. He reeks of death and blood.
What he feels during this time is not dissimilar from what a soldier anywhere else would feel. You are trapped in a bunker with a horrible beast. Or you are trapped in a bunker fighting a horrible beast. Or the beast is yourself and you must grapple with that knowledge.
On the topic of beasts: are they all not as much a monster as The Beast himself, if not just in their own head? Do they, like Augustin, not feel themselves transforming into something otherwordly due to what they have done? Do they not also have blood on their hands?
In a sense I feel The Beast represents not only just the brutality machine of war but also guilt. He kills without mercy, without second thought, for no reason other than he is a beast, and that is what beasts do.
He has lost himself. Throughout the waning days of his humanity he spends his time in the chapel, repenting for something he himself does not understand, knowing only that he must repent. And he, without a way to cope or process what he has lived through— such a thing had not yet been invented— transforms into the spirit of his guilt, of his jumbled thoughts, but he retains remnants of himself despite. Bayonets through his chest as the soldiers tried to hide from it, run away from it. His uniform still hanging on even when everything else has been destroyed.
(The Rabbit is one such example as well. He retrieves it for a moment, cradles it gently, but the moment is gone as soon as it passes. He has been changed. He can never be changed back. Compassion lives in everybody but it dies in war).
Toussaint represents a very similar concept. Many found his level to be the most frightening. There is something more terrifying than monsters or ghouls and it’s man, drawn thin by things they do not comprehend. His recitation of his poem, which is itself a commentary of the war, is all that’s on loop in his head. Had he survived, had he gone on and lived even as the war ended, it would be on loop in his head nonetheless.
Additionally: everything in The Bunker is uniquely grotesque, though not in a glaringly physical sense (at least not in my opinion). There are no corpses falling from the ceiling in front of you, no jumpscares. It is possible to proceed through the entire game without ever even glimpsing the beast. He is a looming threat, and as much a promise as an uncertainty. He toes the line between two opposite concepts. This confusion and absurdity reflects the mindsets of many soldiers at the time.
Essentially, what Frictional Games is saying is: See this? See this war, this man-made conflict? See these men, haunted and hunted? You can draw lines in the sand all day long recounting blood and guts but nothing is more petrifying than the horrors of it.
It is hard to represent the enormity of war and it is harder still to articulate it. But I feel like The Bunker has come closest to it so far.
Ultimately I don’t think The Bunker would have worked in any other setting than this one. Henri’s compassion in a compassion-less place kills Augustin. Augustin, wrought with grief and horror, very well may kill Henri, as the effects of war spread between people and brothers like a plague. You could say that the war itself is the root of all of this, if not just that it put into motion many of the things that led to the Henri waking up alone in that infirmary bed.
Anyway yeah this is very jumbled and Freeform but there’s my analysis Lawl

Any future that doesn't involve Radek & Rodney together, makes no sense to me.
And I don't mean romantically, ship who you want to ship this is about finding someone who totally gets you. Someone who not only handles your BS, calls you out on it, but can understand and match your level of intelligence.
Someone who can add to it.
I mean, being a genius is an integral part of Rodney's personality, and finding a person who can truly follow along with that brain of his is harder than winning the lottery. (Rodney would even do the math.)
Absolutely no way Rodney's going to let that go, at least not for long. I believe if he did, it would be a noticeable hole in his life, and once he noticed why the hole is there (let's be honest, he may not realize it at first,) he'd be bringing Radek back into his orbit immediately.
He'd pretend it wasn't his idea. But it wouldn't matter.
Radek would know.

This website is giving me brain damage
Not like in the ha ha meme way I mean this website is actual mind poison and I am dying
Among the dick-swinging conspiracists telling me I’m a moron who’s soon to be put in a concentration camp and murdered by a doctor, to the constant stream of female-supremacist misandry incessantly accusing me of being some kind of sub-human half-ape desperately stupid emotionless sexual predator rapist, to the belligerent dogmatic catholics constantly pointing out that I’m going to hell and all my problems are because I’m a bad person (got a friendly reminder yesterday that depression is actually pride), add random and unexpected bursts of weirdly violent and/or animated and/or furry porn to taste... I mean, I thought I was careful about the blogs that I follow but perhaps there really is no escape
I don’t know, I might need to unfollow a lot of people
About this time last year I deleted my blog and while I think in general the no-social-media cold turkey approach was helpful in some ways I wound up coming back because I was extremely bored, most of my hobbies require a lot of time and concentration and having kids is not conducive to either, whereas ten minutes here and there on tumblr requires neither time nor concentration, at least not at a great volume
Also the attention is nice, tbh, good to have a venue for artwork where I get at least a scrap of notice, and there are also a few people I care about who I wanted to keep an eye on and “see” and so forth
But wow, does this website--the internet--ever take away more than it gives, as I correctly realized last April.
Apparently I will take pain over boredom

A "new" Foucault lecture has been published (it's from 1968 but not published before afaik) on linguistics and I'm reading it slowly and marveling at how the history of philosophy podcast has taught me so much. I'm reading what he's saying about linguistics and formal relations and empiricism and his specific claims to novelty about that and I'm like "the scholastics were all over this in like the 13th century. embarrassing"
him: this thing other people have been talking about as novel has been going on for AGES, since the EIGHTEENTH CENTURY
me: you are like a little baby

I think it’d be funny if Dick and Jason, due to wearing bright yellow capes on the job for years, are capable of stealth to a frankly unhinged degree. They barely have to try anymore it’s so second nature. Dick can just completely disappear while in the loudest neon clothes imaginable. Jason is constantly startling people who don’t understand how they missed a guy the size of a fridge standing right there. Bruce is extremely grateful for his unbreakable poker face because they have both startled him by accident and would never ever let him live it down if they knew.

so within the universe of Dune, gender roles abide by a rigid false dichotomy created by the bene gesserit - men lead the noble houses, while the women may join their order, and the powers of both are kept intentionally separate. at the same time, the plot demonstrates repeatedly that the role of paul atreides as a character is that of the border between the concepts juxtaposed within dichotomies: he is both an outerworlder and fremen, both harkonnen and atreides, both a duke and a disciple of the bene gesserit.
as such, it follows that within the in-universe gender structure, he occupies the roles of both male and female, thus being functionally and societally nonbinary. in this essay, i will -

nanami kento, who hates dating, and didn’t do much of it in his early twenties. but now, he’s almost thirty, watching all the people he works with settle down, have kids, and he thinks he wants that. so he might as well try.
so satoru sets him up on a few dates — friends of friends, he calls them. and at the end of every one of the dinners, kento goes home empty, exhausted, because he knows what they want is not the same.
still; he thinks maybe he’s being a little self-destructive, maybe too picky, maybe he just got so used to being alone. with satoru’s insistence, he gives all the women another call, invites them over to his apartment.
the first time was a disaster… kento had barely set the dinner on the table before his cat had hissed at her, scratched her down the arm in a thin gash. and though it did draw blood, it was hardly enough to warrant that reaction.
he didn’t even try to stop her as she picked up her bag and left, huffing like she’d been morally offend. kento, though, could only smile to himself in amusement.
because maybe kento was a poor judge of character, a man who was secretly hoping nothing would pan out — but his cat could certainly tell the good from the bad.
it became a little game to him, after that. seeing if anyone could win his pet over, and if they could, perhaps they were the one. his darling animal was a fickle thing anyway. a bit too defensive, quick to bite anything threatening after years on the streets.
naturally, no one came back twice.
he was close to giving up, accepting his solitude because he was tired of empty conversations over dinner. but then, he ventured out over the weekend to a new coffee shop, during hours he normally didn’t spend out of his home, and met you.
though you only talked for a moment, kento felt like maybe he’d known you in a past life. a part of him thought maybe it was strange, the way he kept coming back to talk to you, catching you at the end of your shift to see if you wanted to grab a coffee sometime.
by the second date, kento started to think you could turn out to be his best friend.
by the third date, kento wondered if soulmates were real.
on the fourth date, almost two months later, an appropriate time to get to know someone when you were as reserved as kento, he invited you over for dinner. it was, perhaps, the final confirmation he needed to let himself be with you.
he let you through the door, smiling softly as you told him about the book you were reading, and hung his coat on the rack. a moment later, you stopped, distracted, hands covering your mouth in a gasp.
“kento! she’s the cutest cat i’ve ever seen, you didn’t even show me pictures!” you exclaim, and, a few feet away, crouched down. “look at her pretty eyes…”
“careful,” kento said, “she’s not very—“
but the cat approached your outstretched hand, sniffed once, before letting you scratch her under her chin, purring loud enough for kento to hear across the room.
“shes such a sweetheart, you told me she was mean!” you smiled, making a cooing noise as you threaded your fingers through her fur. “kento’s a liar, isn’t he… you’re so precious.”
a few moments later, she snapped her jaw at you in a biting motion, and you only laughed, withdrawing your hand. “alright, i get it, i won’t bother you anymore.”
though she still brushed against your legs, just as she did kento’s, and seemed to communicate some sort of message to him.
“do you want any help cooking?” you ask, tucking your hair behind your ears. “i’m a disaster in the kitchen, but—“
“sure,” kento said, his chest tightening as he blinked back at you, only in his apartment for minutes and already looking as at home there. he wondered if it was possible to fall in love so quickly. “but only if you want to.”

Little alien "birds", about the size of button quails. They speak with a very melodic cantor, the holes along their "neck" forming a sort of biological flute that can produce a wide range of sounds. Human speech tends to sound confusing and garbled to them unless it's musical; they're big fans of sensible human media like Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats and Hamilton, though the really avant garde among them might even be into deep cuts like Glee and Phineas and Ferb

(click for higher quality!) draconified link concept ive been chipping away at this past week ..... here's my funny little compendium concept for him:
"A heroic spirit has taken the form of this bestial dragon. Unlike it's kin, this creature exhibits an extremely aggressive disposition. It appears highly territorial, and will relentlessly chase down those who disturb its skywide patrols - of which it seems to be endlessly searching for either a long-time vassal or foe. Unfortunately, it seems the spirit within has long since forgotten exactly who it was looking for…"

Prompt:
Tim is the first to find out the Red Hood’s identity and from then on sticks to Jason during patrol like glue (much to Jason’s chagrin, dammit, it would feel wrong to beat up Robin when he’s that starry eyed…)
Cue: PANIC from the rest of the Batfamily, who still think Hood is a forty-something year old crime lord and now assume they’re dating.
