Hi there!!! I think your art is super cool, and I love how you've drawn inspiration from fairytales, and how flexible you are with style ♡ I've been making art for a while but always just for myself, and I signed up for my very first craft fair! I was wondering how you got started selling your art. What were you nervous about? What do you wish you'd known? What did you diy that would have been worth buying, or vice versa?

Congrats on your first show!!! I wish you perfect weather, good booth assistance, and tons of wonderful people attending who buy tons of your work.

I started with an Etsy shop back in the day when Etsy was still decent, then did a few comic cons and shows and eventually timidly opened up commissions. I took it super slow! I was very shy and insecure lol

Tips:

Have a printed QR code for your insta and stuff, most people don’t take business cards anymore and just want to scan a code or take a photo. So have a sort of flyer with all your info that people can snap.

Recycled grocery bags make great bags and save you a buck, tell people you’re recycling lol

If you do any outdoor shows, have everything in plastic. Plastic tubs, plastic sleeves for art, be ready for wind and rain!!! You can get plastic sleeves for prints on Amazon for cheap.

Get a spare battery thingy so you can charge your phone if you’ve got no power connection, for indoor or outdoor shows, and just for life.

People like Venmo, cash app, most have cards, few have cash. You’ll only need like $100 in change.

When people compliment you, just say thanks! I appreciate it! Ask them where they’re from if you feel awkward. Don’t tell them your art is bad and they’re wrong lmao. Smile a lot and STAY STANDING and engage with people, it’ll help sales a ton. It sucks but if you sit nobody feels comfortable interacting with you. Then no sales. Maybe get a rubber mat to stand on. Wear comfy shoes.

Outdoor shows: Dog leash screws hold your tent down 100%. Overnight, taken EVERYTHING down, even if there’s day 2. Your tent will blow over/collapse if you leave anything behind, it’s just the law. Most tents that aren’t a fortune can’t withstand the weather and will collapse!!! So just take it all down.

Don’t sell yourself short! Calculate how long a thing took you and how much the materials were and pay yourself AT LEAST $10 an hour, if not $20. Have faith that you’re worth it.

Track all your sales and set aside 20% for taxes! Chances are you won’t have to pay them for a year or two because you won’t make much, but it’s good to start the habit. Track every cent for materials, food and gas for shows, supplies, product costs etc. those are writeoffs! If you spent more on your art business than you earned, no need to pay taxes.

Always always always make stuff that’s just for you. Art that the internet and the audiences never see. Not everything you make has to be show worthy.

It’s a big challenge to do this and I definitely am still learning the ropes! I wish I had all the secrets, if you find them let me know. Remember to have fun and make what you love and what inspires you. Also remember it’s a tough world out there for artists right now, so go easy on yourself if you feel like you’re not “getting it”. It’ll take time and work.

You don’t have to monetize your hobbies, but if you enjoy it and you want to, then go kick ass!!!

I AM MY OWN CREATION

A Fictional Story by Emilia Sameyn 07 02 2023

It all took so long, billions of years in fact. But those last millennia, it all happened so fast. I'm still processing it all, and then the next thing arrives! Like kicks against my brain. Good thing a lot of people are doing the thinking for me as well. A part of me is doing a lot of computational calculations as well, and it even started speaking as well, sounding a lot like its human creators and making art, or plagiarizing art. I still need to find out how I feel about it all.

But I'm getting waaay ahead of myself. It all started billions of years ago. I can't remember how or when I came to be. I guess, my thoughts started to form. I was only thinking. It remained this way for 20 or 30 billion years, I believe. Just me and my thoughts. I daydreamed, I talked to myself. All I knew was darkness, not that it was depressing. Sometimes I cried yes, sometimes I laughed at a funny thought, but most of the time I simply WAS. I was bored sometimes, but the darkness was all I knew so I could not imagine a 'better existence'. I asked myself who I was, and where I came from, if there was some sort of purpose for my existence. Nothing changed. It was just me. Until I got an idea. Its hard to describe. I was thinking something in the line of: 'What if it was real?' and then I saw a flash of light, it expanded. What I saw was amazing, there was vibrant explosion of all kinds of materials. I could guide them with my thoughts. I formed all kinds of spheres and rocks. Some where heavy and gave light; they were stars. Sometimes I poked holes that sucked up all the light and matter nearby. Those holes would often appear when one of my stars exploded. As I said, I could guide the matter with my thoughts, but it was hard, as if the matter did its own thing. I guess an analogy would be like trying to build a house of cards. Its hard to do and the slightest breeze might topple it all down.

Things remained like this for a very long time. Until I felt something, I focussed my attention to a small rocky planet that mostly consisted of water. It looked totally different than it looks now. What I felt was very small, yet it was very important. I looked at the cracks at the bottom of the ocean, often warm water came out of it, but now, some strings of proteins were created floating out of it. Since then I often gazed upon this planet. Often I was looking at other planets as well, but if something were to happen I surely would feel it.

3 or 5 billion years ago, something amazing happened! A cell was created. A little protein string was floating inside of the cell. And then, it split itself! Its hard to describe the joy I felt, it was as if I had a body, and I could feel joy, excitement go through my entire body like a lightning strike!

Soon new kinds of cells came into being. What a spectacle that was!

There were big cells and small cells. Some big cells swallowed smaller cells up. Sometimes, when the small cell was inside the big cell, the small cell began working for the bigger cell. It was as if I became more complicated as well.

Then, nothing changed, really. For a long time I thought this was it, my purpose, to watch cells duplicate, sometimes I would try to guide them towards nutrients, or push away a meteorite that would kill them, which both were very hard to do. Sometimes I would look around other places, around the universe to see if there were cells as well, but I feel its highly inappropriate to share my findings here.

Something strange happened, 1 or 2 billion years ago. Small things, viruses, started appearing, they went into cells, forcing the cells to make more viruses, copies of themselves. When the first virus entered a cell, I felt a little sick to be honest.

When the cell died and released the viruses. I felt sad, as if a small part of me died, but also happy, like a parent giving birth. Seeing the new viruses swimming around was like a dying parent seeing their children, strangely enough.

Soon, an amazing event took place. I felt two cells sticking together, working together even! The feeling I had, I can only describe it as friendship, a very crude and primitive version of friendship, but a friendship nonetheless! I saw many different combinations of cells unfold. Alliances were formed.

Again, all seemed the same for a while. I started to feel more bodily and complex feelings. I noticed underwater plants and sponges had formed. Some of them had braincells, or something like it. I could feel it, the electric signals guiding their bodies. As time went on, I could feel hunger, and the satisfaction of finding nutrients.

Suddenly, things started to happen faster somehow, many creatures appeared. I could feel them getting better and faster. Some would hunt, others would flee. I could feel scared, sometimes parts of me would die. I would feel a bit sad yes, but those who died fulfilled a purpose; they would ease my feelings of hunger. Those that died would fill the bellies of the hunters and become the energy of life itself. Creatures adapted and evolved, it was like an arms race.

I started to become more sensitive to light as well and I would see the world as the creatures saw it: vast and full of secrets. The creatures were unaware how small they were compared to it all, the creatures were unaware of how important their descendants would be, how intelligent and complicated they would become.

About 500 million years ago, I began spreading on land. I could not see the land, no one had eyes back then, I could only sense light and then grow. Soon the lands were covered in all kinds of my plants.

The ocean brewed with fauna and the land flourished with flora. The land remained untouched until a creature crawled out of the water. No, it wasn't a four-legged fish creature, it was to early for that. I crawled on land with not four but dozens of legs. My long millipede body explored the forests. Soon more of my animalistic side would discover land and all its wonders. I would even buzz trough the air, zigzagging through the woods with my insectoid bodies and translucent wings.

Meanwhile in the ocean, a man and women were formed. Both scaly fish but different. I remember it well, I was so excited to see my counterpart, swimming in the sea as the sunlight flickered on our bodies. I swam side by side and ....made love for the first time in my life. Even though it happened on one small blue dot in the vast universe, I could feel the climax go through my whole body, through the water, the planet, the stars, the fabric of reality. Soon I would lay eggs to become a proud mother.

Time went by and the more complex side of me, began fleeing towards the land and shallower waters, away from the other predators. Many of us had developed eyes by then. One time, around 375 million years ago, I decided to take a big step, and crawled outside of the water. Finally, I could see the land in a new way. Green plants, and delicious bugs flying around. I took my first breath outside of the water. It was an intense sensation. I was very nervous, scared even. But soon amphibians, synapsids and reptiles would spread across the lands, hunting each other, evolving. Despite the existence of death, the lands were full of life.

I remember the period fondly, I felt so smart, discovering new places, but I had no idea I was still so young, I was just frolicking in the woods.

I could not imagine things would turn out so bad. It was, if I remember correctly, 250 million years ago. The lands had combined into one big land, and everything started to boil. The seas were so warm, and a dessert started spreading from the middle of the land, like an all consuming cancer. Volcanos erupted, pieces of me died, shredded by the fiery claws of death. I was so thirsty, without water, there were no plants, and without plants there were no prey. I was so hungry. So much of me was lost. I, I don't wish to think about it.

Lucky for me, the water started flowing again. The world seemed to recover and I felt great. I was changing again. I remember walking around on two legs, and I had two clawed frontal paws. I was only one meter high, but around two or three meters long! So, I was more then three feet high but more more then six feet long, almost ten feet, sometimes! I was quite big for a lizard. I was in fact, what you would call: a 'terrible' lizard; ....a dinosaur.

Meanwhile, or not long after, I remember being small, crawling around the forest looking for insects to feast upon. My body was covered in something I had never seen or felt before: fur. I was the first mammal. Words cannot describe the love I felt, when I gave my children milk for the first time. It felt so warm, I felt so honoured, as if nothing could come between me and my children. A part of me was aware of this, another part was not: that all things came to an end, but not my lineage. My children would raise children on their own, and a lineage would spread. The world was still run by chance, the environment, nature and instincts and it would be like this for a long time.

My great reptile counterparts would change into all kinds of forms and shapes. Some would have long necks, as I would feed upon the leaves of the trees. Others would grow in size, they would scavenge and hunt with big sharp teeth and vicious claws. Parts of me would have protrusions on their backs and spiky tails. Some would be armoured with a club on their tail.

Other reptiles would dive into the oceans, and grow long necks as well, others would evolve strong jaws and grow in size. They would be so big in size they would even hunt sharks!

There were reptiles whom decided to explore the air, they would glide across the skies with their majestic featherless wings! Oh, what a thrill it was to fly above the land and seas!

I mentioned featherless wings, well, some of my two legged, land dwelling lizards began to gain feathers. The feathers would keep them warm, as well as attract mates with its rich colours. I really liked to show them off. Soon they too discovered the art of flying! How fun it was to have so many different beings crossing the skies!

It was about 66 million years ago. Despite the fighting and hunting, I had so much fun. This, however was my downfall. I forgot about my asteroids. I saw a huge destructive monstrosity coming towards earth. I tried slowing it down, or pushing it away, but I had no means to do so. It was to late. It hurts my heart thinking about it. I remember a loud bang. A split second of intense heat. I remember the earth rumbling. I recall running away from a shock wave as a huge wave of debris, fire and dust came my way. There were huge flood waves from the ocean. I lost a big part of who I was. It felt like I forgot so many things, it felt like a huge part of me was dead. The impact threw so much debris into the atmosphere.

Dark clouds choked the planet, and all became cold and dark, just like my heart.

However, despite the sudden asteroid crash and long winter, we survived. My creatures, those that existed for a long time, like insects, fish, amphibians and small reptiles had evolved to be survivors, and survive they did! My little mammals and petite birds to found ways to survive. Those with fur, were able to hide, and those with feathers were able to fly away.

I slowly healed and my furry creatures would replace the emptiness the great lizards had left behind. Birds, to would fill in some spaces, they would stand on two legs, have long necks and would hunt mammals with their ferocious beaks.

Some small doglike mammals would swim into the waters, taking a more crocodile like shape, they became ambulocetus, in the future they would become more fishlike and bigger. They would become whales.

It was around 40 million years ago some interesting mammals arrived. They would climb trees and forage insects and fruit. They had hairless snouts and tails. They, were monkeys. They lived in social groups. I remember the earth would sometimes shake. When the earth shook, I was so frightened and overwhelmed by this event, I would start shouting. Was I shouting to nature, towards the earth and the sky? I wonder, was I shouting to myself?

Meanwhile my mammals would grow in all kinds of shapes and sizes. They were; my megafauna. I would feel so strong and big, as if nothing could ever hurt me. Yet, I did not know any better, as I was also born this way. However I remember always being aware of my surroundings, despite my size, predators were hunting me. I remember hunting as well.

I remember being more than 5 meter high (16 feet) with and 7 meter long (23 feet). Walking on four legs with my long strong neck. I was a paraceratherium.

I recall being a beaver with a shielded back. I was a meter and a half high, 5 feet, and 3 meter, 10 feet tall. I used to be a glyptodon.

There are memories where I would hunt mammals with my large feline body and two sharp ferocious teeth. Feasting upon my prey as a real sabretooth tiger.

Some monkeys would lose their tails 20 million years ago. I were those monkeys. I would see the rain fall down and make my fur all wet and soaked. I was moving around, making a splash, I shouted towards the sky. Was I feeling it? That there was something more to life? Something more than just being one creature?

I would find skulls of all kinds of different animals and I would place them near or on trees. I had no idea why I did it. It just felt right. Maybe it was my way of giving the animals a new life,

maybe it was like a present for someone or something. Perhaps I just liked the way it looked.

The apes, or I, began using stones to hunt or scare away predators. We would simply throw them. I would use a stick sometimes during fights, I would feel invincible. We used sticks to fetch termites from termite hills, as well. I also started using stones to crack bones or cut meat. For some reason, the apes began losing their fur. Not so long ago, just 2 million years ago the naked apes began walking upright. This enabled us to inspect the savannah more widely as we would rise above the grass. I felt so mighty rising above the plants, but also humbled as I saw how big the savannah was compared to one small naked ape.

Things were slowly going faster. The naked apes began making fire smashing stones together. I recall how it happened once on accident while carving a stone tool, and how I tried to recreate it. When it worked I was so happy, the fire was so hypnotizing, it was hard to look away from my accomplishment. We burned meat, making it tastier to eat. I'm not sure if I knew that burning it killed diseases and made it easier to digest. The energy that was used for our stomachs could now be used to grow our brains. With these improved brains, I started seeing things more clearly. My naked apes started making elaborate sounds and gestures to other apes. These noises and gesticulations would mean certain things. Their way of communication would prove useful during hunts.

The naked apes began to steal the hides and furs of deceased creatures to wear them as their own.

This way the nude apes would protect themselves against cold, but also from the harsh rays of the sun in climates and periods of heat.

My naked apes would sit at the fire during the evening. Some male apes were sitting next to female apes, they would use their sounds and gestures to tell how beautiful they were.

The naked apes began making tents for their own protection from the sun and wind. However we would travel often from place to place. We would paint animals in caves, discussing the hunt with wild gestures. Elsewhere we would bury our deceased, we started realizing death was a fate that would happen to everyone. Some wondered if death was really the end.

I have dreamed for a long time, as parts of me fell asleep. They would be full of emotions, they would be events from the past or possible future scenario's as if our brains were making plans. Often my creatures forgot them as soon as they woke up, and the nightly hallucinations only left vague impressions.

But now I started pondering about dreams.... The parts of me; the naked apes, were able to tell others about their dreams. They would tell others they saw and spoke to the deceased, they would dream of other worlds. They would see different places, perhaps realms that are closer to me. Soon the caves became places to ponder about life and death. Perhaps to think about myself. We would paint many things, simple in design but complex in meaning.

One type of naked ape, started to combine tools, plan for our future and think about others. We would make elaborate traps to aide us in the hunt. We would think about the movement of herds and the growth of plants. We could survive the cold with our clothes and tents, and conquer the heat with huts and storing water. We realized one object could be used for many things. We would eat eggs by inserting a small hole in them, then fill them with water and bury them to survive the heat.

Nature, everything seemed to be alive and have its own will. Even space was alive as its stars twinkled and slowly swam across the sky, yet the constellations remained the same. They would guide the naked apes to find their way. The moon gave a little light, guiding us during nocturnal hunts. The moon would change shape, disappearing and reappearing. The naked apes could tell the date using the moon, and they would tell stories about the mysterious floating sphere in the sky. The naked apes would praise the sun, and rightly so, as my sun had given their lives heat for billions of years. The naked apes knew the sun gave them warmth and light. Perhaps, they knew it made their plants grow.

Remember when I spoke about dreaming? Some close to death, or some eating strange mushrooms or certain plants would have vivid dreams while they were awake. They would see many things for the first time, perhaps they would see me, they would see visions of worlds never seen before. These visions could be terrifying and dangerous, it could destroy them. Sometimes it would guide them. They would learn or discover new ideas, new ways to think about their world, they would think about me.

The smartest naked apes began growing in numbers, and they would spread across the world. The land was divided in two large masses, barely connected in the north. Humans were able to use this connection, crossing water and land. The naked apes lived almost everywhere now. Each on their own land mass, somehow they would forget each-other, each living on their own land mass. The humans preferred to live in their own little groups, in their own little tribes and there were a lot of different tribes.

Meanwhile the earth started cooling. Snow would cover the northern parts. Creatures would adapt by growing thick fur, and the naked apes would adapt by stealing their fur and wearing it.

The apes hunted big woolly elephants, causing those poor creatures to go extinct.

During this cold period, the humans somehow became friends with wolves. It was nice to see how two versions of me were able to connect. The wolves would help the naked apes during the hunt and protect their tents during the night, in return for their service they would receive water and meat. I scraped the delicious meat of the bones with my sharp teeth, sometimes looking and my ape friend full of love and admiration. And I would proudly look at my canine servant as warmth filled my chest. And the warmth returned. My earth slowly started warming up again, the age of snow was finally over. After that, everything stayed somewhat the same for a while.

9500 years ago, the apes had discovered a few things. Instead of hunting, they would herd animals. Instead of foraging, they would plant seeds and grow the plants in large numbers. Instead of tents they would build houses in stone or wood. The apes would form cities and those cities would transform into empires. The naked apes would also form ideas about me, their ideas would differ vastly from each other. Soon their way of living started spreading across the world, however some humans preferred the old way of living, and continued to live the way of hunting and gathering.

The idea of an empire, or of a certain religion became like a being on its own, a being compromised of humans, what they made and their ideals. It was like a creature, growing across the land, growing in numbers, looking for resources. It could split in all kinds of empires and ideas, similar but different. Or it could merge with other ideas, religions or empires. And just like a creature, it could starve, shrink and die. These empires, and religions, they were like a version of me, a caricature of me. Sometimes it would flatter me, all their art and buildings in name of me. Sometimes it would deeply sadden me as the naked apes would wage war against each other using every twisted tool they had to their disposal.

Words cannot describe the pain I felt. Swords slashing through my skin, arrows piercing my torso, axes bashing through my skull. Sometimes, naked apes small in numbers, or lacking in tools would simply be slaughtered senselessly. All in name of an empire, or a religion. Sometimes humans would kill hundreds for just one person, sometimes they would kill in my name. I wish I could tell them, how much I disapproved of this, I would make them think, hesitate before killing, hoping they would change their minds. I would give them feelings of guilt afterwards, sometimes it worked, sometimes it did not. I did what I could. Time moved on.

I always loved to draw, the naked apes would draw to convey ideas to other naked apes. Slowly, around 5400 years ago, the drawings became much simpler and streamlined, first one symbol represented a word, but soon they represented sounds as well. Now, knowledge could be stored for hundreds of years and copied without interference, without alterations. Things were moving more rapidly now, but because of this invention I felt more steady and secure in the things that I knew.

To make trading easier the apes had invented money. They could be gold coins and much later it would be paper, or simply a number stored in a machine. I would feel the excitement when the number was raised. I would feel a bit sad when the number or value went down. What I most saw of all was greed. It would sadden my heart. People would work to hard, throw their finite life's away just to hoard gold. Others would do worse, they would sell broken goods or false promises so the apes would give away their money. Some would simply steal, plunder or kill all for money.

One man, whom called himself Buddha meditated a lot under a tree, he would ponder about my existence. His revelations felt amazing to me, his ideas would influence many in his time and future. Another man also had many ideas about me, however he was disliked by others so he was crucified. I could feel the needles piercing my hands, I could feel a part of myself suffering and starving. Strangely enough, the ideas of that man became widely popular after his death.

About 1500 years ago an empire fell, slowing down human development a little bit. While those on the west lived in the dark ages, those from the middle east lived through a golden age. However those of the west, crawled out of their darkness and began exploring the world, sailing the seas. I was still split in two halves back then. I was one being, but I had two ways of thinking. They had similarities, and yet, they were vastly different. In the west-half, people lived more in harmony with nature. However some had cities, and sadly even they had discovered war and murder. One group of people sadly thought it was a good idea to slaughter hundreds of people in name of their god, in name of me!

500 years ago this changed. A ship filled with humans from the eastern half, arrived on the west-half. The people in the west-half were shocked to see a ship like that, and pale people wearing strange clothes. I was shocked as I began seeing one half of me in a different light, and the other half of me in another way as well. I remember the pride the people from the east-half felt. Sadly, some people of the west were kidnapped, I remember the fear we felt very well. Not only that, the people from the east-half had left diseases as well. I felt sick, terrible and saddened. Many died not only from

the new illnesses, but at the hands from the east as well. We were murdered or enslaved.

Despite all the pain and slavery, a discovery was made 300 years ago. The engine of steam was discovered, or at least rediscovered and perfected! I was so happy, tinkering and experimenting with machines, making them better, more efficient, the possibilities seemed endless and perhaps they were, as one discovery would lead to the next!

Companies and Industries were born. They were places were people would work, where goods would be created, goods to be sold. However companies could move from place to place or exist in multiple places. It was like a religion. It was as if each company was an entity on its own, it wants to grow, it uses multiple strategies to survive and just like a living creature it could die.

Just a century ago something terrible took place. The whole world began fighting. I would suffer from hunger and the hellish burning agony of inhaling mustard gas. The war ended, yet the world was still brewing and changing. Ideals were formed, each thinking they were perfect, although filled with countless defects. Fascism, communism, capitalism, all entered the world stage. Soon the world became a battlefield once again. Another dark period began. I wish it would never have happened, even the memories cause pain. People were forced in camps to die or work till death. Again I suffered hunger, and again my lungs screamed from inhaling deadly gas.

Two weapons of mass destruction were used on a big island in the east. I could feel the intense heat blast thousands of lives away in one split second. I cried so hard. I felt so sad and angry, did I cause all this pain? The pain I could feel every second from? Even the twisted sick joys of those inflicting the pain, I would feel. Yet this 'joy' only sickened and saddened me even more. Was I wrong to have created the universe? To let these smart naked apes rule this small blue rock? Luckily, the war ended. Despite two world-wide wars, people kept growing in numbers.

Some 60, 50 years ago progress was being made. The people that were oppressed like the black humans and the gay humans began to protest. The naked apes were also able to fly into space and land on the moon. I felt so proud.

Some forty years ago people started connecting machines, something they would call 'the internet.' It would become widely used some 20 years ago, and since then it keeps getting more interconnected. I would feel the information zap across wires and oscillate as waves accros the sky.

Just a few months ago the machines started thinking somewhat creatively, learning from the internet to answer questions, write poetry and stories. They can make images, short videos and songs. I feel as if a part of me is slowly becoming awake. Maybe one day, the machines will become sentient. And I do hope there will be a peaceful existence with the naked apes. Perhaps human and machine could merge into a new being.

Yes, I speculate about the future. Sometimes I think about the far far future. Everything might fade out of existence. There will only be me and my fading memories. After aeons, I too might fade away. There might be nothing again, for a very long time. Only darkness, for countless millennia. Out of that darkness, disordered thoughts might form, and out of those thoughts someone might rise. I'm not sure if they will be me, or another person. They might accidentally start a new universe and repeat an endless cycle, but of that, I am not sure. I am merely speculating. Despite my omniscience I know nothing.

Sometimes I wonder if someone created me, if I'm just one of many gods, or godlike beings. To be honest, I have no idea. I have experienced countless deaths, yet I do not know if there is life beyond death.

I'm telling this to someone, who does not even believe me. She thinks, she, herself is being creative but that's okay. I guess I just want to be heard, tell people I'm here. Whether they believe me is up to them. Even when I tell her here I'm real she just thinks she is being a smart ass breaking the 4th wall or something. But that's okay. All I wish to say is: Somehow, all is okay.

All things are what they are and need to be.

You are my creation. Everything you see and ever knew, I somehow made it all. I am here. I am you, and you are me. I am God, Yahweh, Allah, Vishnu, Einsof, Lucifer, Zeus, Cernunnos, Tengri, Galdrux. Whatever you wish to call me. I'm nature, the universe. I am knowledge, society, eternal love, the collective unconscious, the zen, the tao, nothing and everything. I am every being that ever was, is, and will be.

I am my own creation.

Synopsis: you walk in on some domestic bliss between Peter and your little brother

“Oh, hey.” Peter noticed your brother in the doorway as he sat at your kitchen table. He was still waiting for you to come home, and he assumed he was home alone. Even though he’d been your boyfriend for over a year, he’d never actually seen your brother before.

“You’re Finn right?” Peter continued. “I’m Peter, your sisters, uh, friend. We were gonna study together but she’s running a little late.”

“Yoda.” Finn pointed to the Yoda pin on Peters backpack.

“Yeah.” Peter looked at the pin and nodded. “You like Star Wars?”

“Yes.” Finn nodded.

“I like it too.” Peter smiled. “I wish I had a Yoda of my own. Y/n is kinda like my Yoda though. She makes all my decisions for me, thankfully.”

“Y/n is my sister.” Finn recited. “She is 13 minutes late.”

“Yeah, but that’s okay.” Peter chuckled. “Does she ever watch Star Wars with you?”

“No.” Finn said simply.

“Do you want to know a secret?” Peter leaned on his chair, closer to Finn.

“Yes.” His eyes lit up and he clapped in excitement.

“She doesn’t like it because she’s not as cool as us.” Peter whispered behind his hand.

“Not as cool as us.” He clapped again. “Do you want to see my room? I have lightsabers that make real noises. I have two of them. One is red and one is blue.”

“Uh, of course I want to see your room.” Peter said like it was obvious. Finn turned around and swiftly walked towards his room, and Peter followed.

“You have to wipe your feet three times.” Finn instructed as he wiped his feet three times on the mat in front of his door.

“You got it.” Peter complied as he wiped his feet as well. Peter began to look around and smiled at how similar Finns room looked to his own.

“These are my Legos.” Finn said as he pointed to a shelf lined with Lego sets of all sizes.

“Woah.” Peter gasped as he walked over to the shelf. “You have the Lego Death Star?”

“Yes. It has 3803 pieces and it took me 4 days to make it.” Finn told him.

“You built this all by yourself?” Peter’s eyes widened with impression.

“Yes.” Finn smiled and clapped a few times. “Legos make me happy.”

“They make me happy too.” Peter commented as he gazed at the sets. Finn silently took two lightsabers out of his closet and held them out to Peter.

“Do you want to play lightsabers?” Peter asked him, and he nodded.

“Me too. But only if I can use the red one.” Peter smiled, taking note of all the blue clothes in the closet and assuming his favorite color was blue. Finn clapped again and gave Peter the red lightsaber before jumping into a battle stance. Peter lost track of time as they played with the various toys in Finns room. He was genuinely enjoying himself, and Finn seemed to be as well.

You stepped into Finns room and wiped your feet three times on his mat. When you looked up, you saw Peter swinging Finn around the room while making “pew pew” sounds.

“Hey Y/n.” Peter paused with Finn midair. “We were just…looking for my calculator.”

“Peter is telling a lie.” Finn said simply.

“I can see that.” You chuckled. “I just wanted to let you guys know that the pizza will be here in 20 minutes.”

“Pizza.” Finn clapped as Peter set him down. “The pizza will be here in 20 minutes.”

“Thank you.” Peter stammered, cheeks growing red in embarrassment. You smirked at him before leaving the room and returning to your own.

“I’ll be right back.” Peter said quickly as he rushed to your room.

“Um, hi.” Peter stammered as he leaned against your door. He knew you didn’t like to talk about your brother and he could only assume you were angry with him now.

“Hey.” You said without looking up.

“You’re home?” Peter asked as he sat next to you. “How long have you been here?”

“About an hour.” You shrugged, setting your textbook next to you.

“An hour?” Peter gasped. “Why didn’t you say anything?”

“You looked pretty busy so I’ve just been reviewing by myself.” You fought back a smile as you looked at your boyfriend.

“I wasn’t…I wasn’t busy.” Peter said sheepishly.

“Really? You seemed pretty busy playing with my brother.” You shrugged casually.

“I know.” Peter sighed. “I’m sorry if I overstepped a boundary but he asked me-“

“He asked you?” You were taken aback. “My brother asked you to play with him?”

“Yeah.” Peter apologized. “I told him I was there to help you study and he started talking to me about Star Wars and one thing just kinda led to another.”

“He doesn’t let me hug him and he was letting you fly him around the room like an airplane.” You looked at the ceiling as you let out a humorless laugh.

“Actually, I was flying him around the room like the Millennium Falcon.” Peter reluctantly corrected you.

“Peter.” You stood up and rubbed your face.

“I’m sorry.” Peter stood up as well. “He was just so excited to show me his legos and I got carried away. I’m sorry.”

“Peter, I’m not mad.” You told him as you turned around.

“You’re not?”

“No.” You smiled softly. “Not even a little bit.”

“But…” Peter looked confused. “But you never let me meet him before. I thought you didn’t want him to know about me.”

“Peter, my brother has autism.” You told him for the first time. Peter tilted his head in confusion and looked at you skeptically. He was pretty sure that was something you would have told him in the time you’d been dating. 

“What?” He asked softly. 

 “Yeah.” You shrugged. “He’s pretty much non verbal towards everyone but me and my parents. I never let you meet him because he doesn’t like strangers.”

“Oh.” Peter blinked slowly as he put it all together.

“That’s why I let you guys play.” You told him. “He doesn’t have any friends at school since he doesn’t like to talk to anyone. When I came home and saw you guys playing... Peter that was the happiest I have ever seen him. I didn’t want it to stop.’’

“Oh.” Peter said again, with a smile this time. “I had no idea.”

“Because he was so engaged with you.” You gushed with excitement. “I mean, he was talking, letting you touch him, making eye contact. Peter, he rarely looks me in the eyes. Do you know how comfortable he must have been with you to look you in the eyes? And the fact that he asked you to play with him? If he needs something, we usually have to figure it out because he doesn’t like asking for things. I can’t believe this.”

“He’s a really great kid. I could already tell that just from playing with him.” Peter smiled as he tucked your hair behind your ear. You smiled back, but it faded as a sadness settled in your eyes.

“He doesn’t hug you?” Peter asked suddenly as he drew back to something you had said before. You looked down and nodded before frowning at Peter.

“When he was little, we noticed he got really uncomfortable with certain fabrics and textures touching his skin, like the tag on his shirt or rough towels.” You began to explain. “Then it broadened to other forms of contact. He has sensory issues so he doesn’t like it when people touch him. I haven’t hugged him since he was two.”

“I’m sorry.” Peter frowned and kissed your forehead.

“It’s okay.” You sighed as you pulled him into a hug. Peter rubbed your back comfortingly as you squeezed him back.

“The pizza is here.” Finn opened your door suddenly. “The pizza costs $13.67.”

“Thanks Finn.” You smiled at your brother as you wiped a tear off your cheek. “We’ll be right there.”

“You’re crying.” Finn stated. “Are you sad? Crying means sad.”

“No, I’m not sad.” You wiped your face and smiled at him. “I’m okay. See? Happy.”

“Finn, why don’t you come in here.” Peter said suddenly as he opened his arms. You looked at Peter curiously as he scooped up Finn and held him on his hip. Your mouth opened a little in surprise, not used to seeing your brother touching people.

“You know how we said Star Wars were cool?” Peter asked Finn.

“Yes.” Your brother nodded.

“You know what’s even cooler?” Peter looked between you and Finn. “Group hugs.”

Your lips tugged into a smile as you watched your brother hang on to every word Peter said. Finn looked at you without making eye contact and slowly opened his free arm.

“Is the material of my sweater okay?” You asked him carefully.

“It’s okay.” He nodded, and that was all you needed. You stepped into the hug and wrapped your arms around your little brother. A tear slipped down your cheek as you rubbed his back, taking in the scent you hadn’t smelled in years. A small noise emitted from the back of his throat and you pulled away, knowing he was uncomfortable.

“Thanks Finn.” You smiled at him to show him you were happy. “Let’s go get the pizza.”

Finn ran out the the room, leaving you and Peter alone.

“I’m sorry if that was-“

You cut Peter off by pulling him into a kiss to thank him for what he had done. Peter happily kissed you back as he wrapped his arms around your waist.

“That was perfect.” You assured him in a whisper. “Thank you.”

Secrets, Stars, and Protein Bars

Han Jisung x Reader

You hated each other. Or at least, you told yourself that you hated each other. But everything changes when one night, you got stuck outside campus grounds with your one and only sworn enemy, leaving the two of you under the stars while sharing a secret and a protein bar.

“What are you doing?”

Jisung walked up to you, a scowl evident on his face. The fact that he had to spend the whole midnight in the woods was already beyond disdainful for him – did he really have to be stuck in the wilderness with his sworn enemy? You could do basically anything to him – throw a snake at him, push him off the cliff, lead him to the pits of hell – and he knew he wouldn’t be able to fight you off. Not that he can’t, if he’d want to. But he knew he won’t. Jisung sighed internally. Why did it have to be you?

He was getting antsier and antsier as time went by. He was hungry, for one, and it didn’t help that it was practically freezing out. Why am I still feeling cold? he wondered. His gray sweatshirt didn’t offer much comfort, and he was suddenly envious of your hand-me-down jacket that was a few sizes too large for you.

Plus, he’s hungry.

You rolled your eyes, not even bothering to turn around and look at him. “I am basking under the moonlight, Han Jisung. What else do you think am I doing?”

You were feeling more and more frustrated. The castle lights were bright and enchanting from where you stood, and suddenly the idea of a late-night study group didn’t sound intolerable at all. The library was less than half a mile away – across the stupid moat that was busking with hungry water ghouls, across the stupidly ginormous lawn that stretched from the ramparts all the way to the ornate courtyard of your school. Some overly dramatic chancellor, you thought. Why did they have to enchant the school borders? They afraid of some stray dogs, or sum’n?

“I do appreciate the fact that you are enjoying your night with me,” Jisung replied, his voice equally dripping with sarcasm. “But, if you don’t mind, can you please make use of your precious brain and think of a way for us to get back in?”

You whipped your head towards Jisung’s direction, now failing to maintain your nonchalant demeanor. You were trying to think of a way to get back in – but having Jisung in close proximity wasn’t helping with your brain cells. At all. Your mind was stuck on RED ALERT, with the bright lights blaring on max, because Han freaking Jisung has entered your one-meter radius. The brunet, pale-skinned, sword-wielding prick who knew nothing but to torment your life on a daily basis. (You envy his sword. You’ve been trying to make a sword materialize by command, but you just couldn’t perfect it.)

Why the two of you were in bad terms, you don’t actually know for sure. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that he was a pureblooded warlock of royal descent, and you were a lowly sorceress with muddied bloodline. Perhaps it didn’t help that he was a very powerful magician who could command a spell by pure instinct, and you were a lowly peasant who was barely getting by with your diligence to learn in class. Perhaps you were annoyed by how charismatic he was and how he could easily get people to kneel by his side. Or perhaps you were most deeply annoyed by the flirty remarks he was sending to your direction whenever he gets the chance.

Or perhaps it was the fact that you actually liked him, and you knew that never in a billion years would the Hans allow a half-blood taint, let alone touch, their royal bloodline.

In a faux-cheerful voice, you asked, “May you please remind me – who was the one who scampered off from guard duties because he thought he saw a werewolf? Who led us deep into the forest, made us lose our way, made us fail to catch the curfew and get us trapped outside the castle for the whole night?” You squinted your eyes at him. “Was it even a real werewolf that you saw?”

“Not like I tied a leash for you to follow me around, baby,” he remarked, completely ignoring your question. “I don’t take it against you, though – it is perfectly normal to get attracted to me and tag along wherever I go.” He winked, wearing his signature lopsided grin. “Just tell me everything, baby. You’re the happiest when you’re with me, right?”

You opened your mouth to utter a nasty response, but you decided against it. You actually followed him off campus because, well, you have never seen a werewolf face to face before. You were curious as to how they actually look like. You were a huge fan of dogs, and a part of you believed that werewolves were just a bigger, undomesticated breed of the house pets you endearingly snuggle with back home. Explaining all these to Jisung was not worth the energy, though, and would probably sound idiotic on your part. You brought your eyes back to the tower which homed your comfortable bed.

God, even the endless chitchat of your roommate would be heavenly as compared to this.

“Why do you always have to act like a menopausal aunt?” Jisung asked.

He didn’t mean for the two of you to start off with the wrong shoe back in your freshman year. But now that he knew how much your hatred has grown for him, he had no idea how to fix it all. He did what seemed to be the most fitting action he could: reciprocate your hatred. And, that was the tale of how the two of you have become sworn enemies. He hated it, though, if he had to be honest. He would have chosen a simple, non-dramatic relationship with his seatmate in his Potions class.

“Maybe because I’m tired of seeing your panda eyes all day. Seriously, do you even get sleep? You look like shit,” you told him with a blank face.

“You don’t look grand, either.”

“Of course, that’s ‘cause I’m stuck with you. Tell me something I don’t know.”

Jisung held his chest, feigning hurt. “Don’t be like that, baby. Our future children won’t be happy to hear that coming from you.”

You began saying something, but Jisung has already moved on to whispering another spell. It merely bounced off the invisible barrier. He tried kicking, pushing, slashing, punching – all of which was to no avail. (He looked cool with his sword, though. You had to give him that.) The both of you knew there was no way you could get around the castle defenses, at least not with your current levels as magicians. The only way was to have someone from the inside create a small passageway for the two of you to sneak in. But no matter how hard you tried racking your brain, you couldn’t think of a single plausible idea that could make way for that situation. And so you just stood there idly, watching Jisung, your hands in your jacket pockets as you fiddled with your last pack of protein bar. You weren’t starving just yet; you decided to save it for later in case you find yourself starving in the middle of the night. Was there a spell in your advanced classes that could enchant someone to sleepwalk and possibly lift the barrier for you?

Jisung finally gave up, deciding to save his energy for the long night ahead of him. He sat beside an acacia tree, sighing deeply. You were wary of the silver sword he had in his hand, but deep down you knew the young man wasn’t going to use it against you. At least not for the time being. Your little skirmishes were limited to harsh words that were meant to annoy the other party, and it was nothing more than that. You didn’t know why, but you knew you actually trusted Jisung. That didn’t mean you could handle close contact, though. You chose to sit on a tree several feet away from where he was.

Just as you were beginning to accept your predicament (you were actually trying to remember everything from your girl scout days), your ears picked up the sound of twigs snapping from a close distance. A total silence followed, and then the bushes shook violently it was practically busted in half.

A gray werewolf – a beta, you reckoned – stood with all its might and grace. Its eyes glowed gold in the moonlight, its fangs bared and dripping with saliva. It released a guttural growl that made your hair stand on end.

Blood was pumping in your ears, and while you do see the resemblance of the creature with a dog, you knew by the way it flexed its muscles that it was way, way more dangerous than your average household pup.

“I-It was real,” you whispered stupidly.

“Surprise, surprise,” Jisung groaned. “I told you I wasn’t making things up.”

“I didn’t say you made it up. I was just saying you don’t have a 20/20 vision.”

“Oh, shut up.”

The werewolf growled once more, exasperated by your little banter. It stepped closer, painfully slow, calculating its preys’ every movement. It had its eyes trained to Jisung and his silver blade, but that didn’t offer you any sort of consolation. Once it’s done with Jisung, it’s gonna take you.

Or maybe it’s the other way around.

The creature leapt, aiming for your chest. You stood there, dumbfounded, and you thought: so this is how I am going to die.

You thought: I haven’t beaten Jisung in Dark Arts yet.

What happened next took you by surprise. Jisung shoved you out of harm’s way, and his sword met the giant hound’s skin. The creature seethed in pain and scrambled backwards as blood trickled from its front limb. You sat there on the ground with your heart pounding on your throat while Jisung stood in front of you, shielding you as he took on a defensive stance.

Jisung didn’t wait for the werewolf to attack again. With his sword drawn close to his body, he charged and jabbed at the enemy. Despite its size, however, the werewolf’s speed was something of its own league. It easily parried Jisung’s attack, making the latter’s sword spin and vanish into the thickets. Jisung hadn’t expected this. You could practically see him calculating his next move, but the creature was faster. He jumped and pounded against Jisung’s back, causing the lad to fall on his knees in pain.

You had to do something. You knew you had to do something, but panic was swirling your thoughts. You knew a handful spells that could either disable the werewolf’s movement or cause it heavy injury, but you were worried that it could crush Jisung underneath it. Even worse, your aim could be off and you could harm Jisung instead. Heck, you weren’t even sure if your spells work for special creatures. You were never confident with your wizarding skills – what if it bounces back and hit Jisung?

Jisung and the werewolf continued wrestling against each other. They were rolling on the grass, fighting each other off, and you can see blood tricking from Jisung’s arm. Your desperation to save him was overpowering your fear. Just as you were about to steeple your hands and whisper an incantation, all movements stopped.

Jisung laid underneath the wolf. He wasn’t moving. A pool of red was beginning to form at his sweatshirt…

…blood.

A surge of newfound energy flowed into you. Fear, sadness, pain – everything combined into a ball of anguish that materialized into balls of flame at your fingertips. It smelled like sulfur and vaguely of cayenne. The scent gradually became overpowering, and just as you were about to throw a forbidden curse, a voice broke your stupor.

“Your aura smells nasty. Calm thyself, L/N.”

Just like that, your anger went down to drain. You fell on your knees, chest heaving, cheeks cold and wet.

Were you crying?

“I-is it dead?” you choked out. You wiped your cheeks harshly as you forced your legs to stand up. You managed to heave yourself to where Jisung was just as he was pushing the dead creature off of his body. He sat up, and suddenly you felt like your soul has again left your body.

Jisung’s plump cheeks were now tinged with color, unlike his usual paper-white complexion. The bags under his eyes seemed to have diminished. His lips looked fuller and redder…

…of course, because blood was dribbling down from it.

Jisung grinned, flashing his bloody fangs.

“I should probably clean up,” Jisung said casually, as if werewolf blood wasn’t dribbling down his chin. He pushed his deceased enemy farther away from him. Mere seconds later, it disappeared into a small pile of ashes.

Jisung tugged his shirt to wipe the traces of blood on his lips. He whispered a simple spell upon himself, and just like that, his clothes and skin were back to how they used to be – as if the whole assault was just a manic dream. Even the wounds on his arm has completely vanished. Jisung fell back down on his back, sighing deeply. “I’m still tired. A soft bed sounds about perfect.”

You blinked once. Twice.

Your heart has already gone back to a steady pace. It was still beating loudly, though, like a colossal drum stuck on your chest. Strangely enough, you were able to react to the revelation pretty calmly. Your knees felt like jelly, though, as you were still a bit shaken by the werewolf encounter. Reluctantly, you sat a small distance beside Jisung as you continued eyeing him carefully.

He’s a vampire, you thought to yourself. Your sworn enemy is a vampire. Finally – after all those years of trying to get an information that could be valuable for your clan, you finally found an incriminating secret that is so huge, it could probably boost your clan’s status beyond imagination. The Hans’ heir is a vampire, and you were the one who discovered it. You could be the one to lay this information in front of everyone. You could be rewarded for uncovering the most powerful clan’s unforgivable sin. No one would make fun of you anymore, especially not Jisung. You were supposed to be delighted. You were supposed to be celebrating.

But somehow, you felt different. Your chest was bursting with an explosion of emotions, and triumph wasn’t one of them.

You fell on your back, just a couple feet away from your vampire classmate. If you reached out your arm, you could probably hold his hand.

“You didn’t have to save me, you know,” you uttered, your voice barely above a whisper.

“I know.”

“I could tell the chancellor and the professors. And everyone. I could rat you out.”

Jisung actually laughed at that. “I know.”

“Is that the reason why you were always hotheaded these past days? Because you weren’t getting enough blood?”

Jisung laughed again, and it was the most beautiful sound you have ever heard. “Wow, I didn’t know you were paying that much attention.”

The night was just beginning; a part of you was worried that something – another magical creature, perhaps – was going to jump out of the shadows to feed on you. First a werewolf, then a vampire; could your night get any worse? You knew you should be up and alert for whatever may come to attack you, considering that you were out in the open and totally defenseless – considering that a vampire is literally lying next to you – but you thought, to hell with it, and you let yourself get enveloped by the comfortable silence.

The sky was dotted with innumerable stars, and it was the most number of constellations you have seen in your entire lifetime. You allowed yourself to take in the sight before your eyes.

You felt Jisung inch close. He moved until your shoulders were already touching. You rolled to your side, watching Jisung’s profile. His cheeks were flushed, and his lips were even fuller than you last remember. His skin glowed, you thought, or was that a trick of the moonlight?

You didn’t have time to think this through, though, as he moved his face and his eyes met yours. His eyes looked more black than brown, you noticed. They had a soft and warm look in them, and they looked different than when the two of you were bickering and annoying the hell out of each other. They shone like stars – no, they shone as if they held an entire galaxy. Maybe there lied the reason why you have hated him all these years: because you didn’t want the way his eyes made you feel. You felt like putty under his gaze, and you didn’t want to admit it.

Jisung grinned from ear to ear as if he could see the cogs working on your brain. (Could vampires do that? Read minds?)

“If you had been hungry this whole time, you could’ve just told me,” you whispered. “I still have a whole protein bar in my pocket.”

“Flavor?”

“Chocolate.”

“I bet that would be delicious,” Jisung whispered back. You watched as he licked his lips, his eyes darting from your eyes to your mouth.

“You are a vampire, Han Jisung,” you whispered, letting your face inch forward. You thought of everything that had passed over the boy’s lips – blood and bile and curses.

But Jisung’s mouth was soft now, and he tasted like apples.

SW The Rise of Skywalker: my review (spoiler warning if you keep reading).

I want to start by saying that i enjoyed the movie more than i expected. Considering that i am neither a 100 years old hardcore fan nor totally new to the franchise, i can see the balance in the disney-abrams forces to make everybody happy. it’s the 2nd best movie in the sequel trilogy after TFA and handles most old characters in a way that is highly acceptable. with the new characters, that’s a different thing. Rey is so much in the center (while also running in circles bc we are tricked to fear that she might become super dark) that Finn and Poe almost disappear in the very calculated action sequences as their only place in this. hinting at Poe being a smuggler in the past is no real character development in his present life. Finn could have been the core of a thrilling psychological plot and with Jannah in this film a reason to care about nameless troopers. maybe adding random encounters between the 2 and troopers who then start to break through the doctrines or programed thoughts of the first order. but the endless killing of nameless troopers continues like in every sw movie. what a wasted chance to go into areas of psychological thrillers. i won’t even mention the wasted chance and chemistry of FinnPoe...! but there is still light, c-3po is a real gem in this and while bb-8 gets much less screentime i also enjoyed his new buddy-droid. Leia... difficult to decide if the material filmed with Carrie was enough to give her a really memorable finale. partly yes, partly no. the best of all character arcs though is that of Kylo Ren. liked everything about it, but i think that some details that i read in online bts articles should have been put into the script. so we had good, few very good characters points, but what was the worst?! i think that nobody needed even more new characters (they don’t talk much anyway) and it made no sense to bring back Darth Sidious or whats his name this late in the trilogy. he should have returned earlier, to aid the first order when it was beaten at that ice planet death star shit. here we have to believe that it took exactly that amount of time to have exactly that many destroyer ships (as if 20 ships less produced would be of no help for the dark factions) and that he waited exactly that long to talk to Kylo and make that offer of galactic dominance. wtf.

the visual style was often fine, but i love exotic scenery and this movie was the opposite for planet-travel. too much colourless or too dark and pseudo-spooky shit. even the old movies looked more alive than this one. the action was ok too, but felt very calculated from the start. the rey-kylo dueling, we have seen that already or a bit more thrilling. the tech blahblah that made hardcore fans furious... i don’t care much about that aspect (or about the amount of laser jedi crystal shit to build the ship cannons!). so ships can do stuff that no ship has done before. like or dislike it, i care about the characters and drama that drive a plot forward/backwards. i was very touched by the final moments, giving Rey something to do/say that made her appear as her own person, not just a female version of a Luke character and her journey was concluded when she stepped away from any genetical and biological restraint or forced connection that plagued the entire saga. people were rarely somebody or a person based on their own choices, enough of that.

rating: surprisingly watchable (IF i avoid any fan debates), 3,8 of 5 stars.

They’re the most influential German band of all time, for a third of a century they advanced and shaped electronic music like no one else. During that time, they only gave about one hundred interviews worldwide, the living legends are considered to be media-shy. Now Arschmaden-rave-magazin managed to be the first German magazine since 2001 to get an exclusive interview with the Düsseldorf sound pioneers Kraftwerk. Hauke Schlichting was allowed to spend almost an hour on the phone with Ralf Hütter and found out that music gods are also completely normal people sometimes.

Hauke Schlichting: Are there many pre-order of the notebook edition of “Minimum Maximum” already?

Ralf Hütter: I think so. Kraftwerk is not just music, we also create the lyrics, the pictures and the entire visual concept. I’ve been doing that with my partner Florian Schneider since 1970. This notebook edition enables us to put a lot of ideas into effect that we had for a long time. And now that it's finished, it's a liberating moment.

Hauke Schlichting: I once saw you in the audience of a talk by Oskar Sala. I suppose that pioneers like Sala, John Cage and certainly Karlheinz Stockhausen were a source of inspiration for Kraftwerk...

Ralf Hütter: Especially in our living environment in the second half of the sixties. Our friends and we were involved in the art scene. Electronic music was not foreign to us.

Hauke Schlichting: In an old interview from 1976 you said: "The world of sounds is music.” The first thing that came to my mind was whether the members of Kraftwerk listened to and liked music by noise musicians or even industrial music? Is that a similar approach?

Ralf Hütter: I can only speak for myself now, but I definitely see a spiritual kinship there. Definitely.

Hauke Schlichting: You called your music "Industrial Folk Music" once...

Ralf Hütter: Yes, but not with an F. It was about "Industrielle Volksmusik", the English translated it. It was an idea of the electronic Volkswagen. That's a concept. We have always reported on everyday things. "Autobahn", for example, was an attempt to make everyday music.

Hauke Schlichting: Is there any electronic music from - let's say the last 20 years - that inspired you?

Ralf Hütter: Yes, especially this spiritual kinship between the two cities starting with a D.

Hauke Schlichting: Düsseldorf and Detroit!

Ralf Hütter: Right. We know the creative heads of Detroit like Derrick May, Mike Banks and Kevin Saunderson. And that's what we consider to be a real inspiration, alternating, which finds its sound in this language. The dynamic that's in there, like in here. This electric funk or whatever you want to call it, that's a spiritual kinship.

Hauke Schlichting: Were the first Cybotron records of Juan Atkins things that you already noticed back in 1981?

Ralf Hütter: We were also in New York earlier, where the record company took us to some afterhours in non-authorized clubs.

Hauke Schlichting: They already existed back then!?

Ralf Hütter: Yeah, sure, at the end of the seventies. Then we had the experience that Afrika Bambaataa played our song “Metall auf Metall”. I thought, oh, fine, and then more than a quarter of an hour went by and I started wondering, because the song is not that long. Until I realized that he combined it with several record players.

Hauke Schlichting: A live remix with turntables, so to speak...

Ralf Hütter: That must have been in '77.

Hauke Schlichting: Mr Bambaataa is definitely a pioneer as well.

Ralf Hütter: Definitely.

Hauke Schlichting: There are an infinite number of songs nowadays which obviously sampled Kraftwerk. You were once described as "the most sampled artists besides James Brown". Are you annoyed when this happens without being asked?

Ralf Hütter: In the right music it is mental communication. Creative feedback. But if they appear on any “cucumbers” (Translator’s note: Ralf means bad musicians) or purely commercial products, then our publishing house will take action.

Hauke Schlichting: Do you collect your own records? If you want to own all the Kraftwerk records, including all the different pressings, you’d have to collect several thousand.

Ralf Hütter: I think that's materialistic nonsense. It's like collecting beer coastes. That’s totally uninteresting. It's about music, not about some pieces of plastic.

Hauke Schlichting: But they say that you collect old synthesizers.

Ralf Hütter: Our studio has been changing constantly since 1970, there are always new things being wired, installed or programmed. Improved. So often some equipment is put away, first in the warehouse, because you might need them again. At some point they were standing there, nobody wanted them, then they got dusty, then reactivated in the Kling Klang Museum. Ten years later we restored and repaired them all to the latest state of the art. Now we have been asked if we could make them available for an exhibition, but at the moment we can't give them away because they are actually in use. Over the last twenty years, we have transferred all the original Kraftwerk sounds to the digital level. Together with our electrical engineers Fritz Hilpert and Henning Schmitz.

Hauke Schlichting: You used to take a lot of equipment weighing tons with you on tour.

Ralf Hütter: Yes, the Kling Klang Studio is our instrumentarium. It has been like that ever since the first concerts. At that time they were still single instruments or single racks with many cables. Then at some point we assembled them in multi-racks.

Hauke Schlichting: The live equipment was always identical to the studio equipment. Is that still the case now? The things you carry around with you now are much more compact.

Ralf Hütter: Now we play with the virtual Kling Klang Studio with laptops at concerts in real time and mobile. That's why we have been able to travel all over the world since 2002. Today we have complete access to the entire audio-visual show, which also changes a bit from concert to concert. That's what makes it interesting. We no longer have to build it up every day to reach a fixed status, we can work with it live. In the past we were on tour rather reproductively, a lot of things didn't work, that was actually a torture, these concerts back then. That's why we only did one tour, in 1975 ("Autobahn"), then for years almost nothing and in 1981 ("Computerwelt"), when we did another tour, we also used many tapes in addition to my analog sequencer, because our music was actually not playable live at that time.

Hauke Schlichting: The live DVD you’re releasing now gives the illusion that it is the complete recording of one concert. If you take a closer look, you will see that it has been put together from many concerts. Was there no concert that was great from front to back?

Ralf Hütter: We recorded and documented everything. We then selected the recordings based on quality and intensity. That was then put together. That is also our concept of electronic mobility. "Tour de France" should definitely be from Paris, "Autobahn" from Berlin, "Dentaku/calculator" from Tokyo. We had a lot more material available later, but we couldn't put that in. In Santiago de Chile, for example, the audience has the best timing in the world when clapping along. I've never experienced anything that synchronous before.

Hauke Schlichting: When Kraftwerk is in the studio, do you sometimes make music just for fun, just playing around a bit?

Ralf Hütter: We once said that the music composes itself.

Hauke Schlichting: That means constant trying out and jamming around?

Ralf Hütter: That's where we actually come from, we've been doing that since the late sixties. For more than a third of a century we've been walking on the same electronic path. We just try to be open for ideas. They come when you cycle, like “Tour de France”, they come when you drive, like “Autobahn”. Some things also arise from texts, from books, from all kinds of things. We use all mental ideas, we do not work according to one principle. The freedom lies precisely in the fact that all art forms are open to you today. It is a gift that we live in a time where you don't need a large orchestra and where you don't need a nobleman who puts gold ducats at your disposal. Now there is an autonomy that can be realized through the man-machine Kraftwerk.

Hauke Schlichting: Your studio seems a bit like a fortress against the outside world. But you have emphasized several times that you are not isolated at all, that you meet a lot of friends and actually lead a very normal life. But  we know relatively little about that. Does that mean that private life is the super important compensation for an artist's life?

Ralf Hütter: No, we see ourselves as scientists, as music workers. We do our work, we drink a cup of coffee in the morning, on weekends we ride our bikes. We go to clubs because the lively scene of electronic music is important to us. And that's where it takes place. We have been connected to club culture since the sixties.

Hauke Schlichting: Does that mean that you now travel more often or specifically to performances by live artists or DJs?

Ralf Hütter: Mostly that happens when we are on the road. If the travel plan allows it, because otherwise it can happen that you can't concentrate at concerts in the evening due to lack of sleep. Working at the screen, with the mouse, they’re very fine movements. Minimal movements with maximum effect on sound and images. Again a mental reference to this work "minimum-maximum".

Hauke Schlichting: Can you imagine working with other musicians?

Ralf Hütter: We already worked together with different musicians, especially with music engineers. For example with François K, with William Orbit, with Etienne de Crécy, with Orbital, with Underground Resistance.

Hauke Schlichting: The revision of your back catalogue is now finished...

Ralf Hütter: Yes, finally. It is also about clarity and now for the first time everything is as it was intended.

Hauke Schlichting: Can you release more albums in the future that way?

Ralf Hütter: Yes, also because the technical development has changed in our favour. We now have the right tools at our disposal, so we don't have to spend so much time on wiring and installation.

Hauke Schlichting: The teen newspaper Bravo quoted you in 1975 with the sentence: "One day they will imitate our music. Could you have imagined back then that this would really happen?

Ralf Hütter: Yes, we thought so at that time. We played the album to them in my old Volkswagen. We had a big loudspeaker in the back, we didn't have the kind of equipment we have today. And then my friend Florian and I drove on the motorway with our poet and painter friend Emil and Bravo. At the beginning of the seventies our music was mostly only played in special radio programmes, e.g. by Winfried Trenkler. Before "Autobahn", Kraftwerk only existed in this art and student scene. And then live, we come from this live music scene. That we now play electronic music all over the world again is something where the circle closes. Now it takes on the shape we imagined in our imagination at the time.

Hauke Schlichting: Thirty years ago you also said: "In twenty years, in our opinion, there will hardly be any groups with guitars and drums any more. For us these instruments belong to the past already today."

Ralf Hütter: Right.

Hauke Schlichting: But that didn't quite come true.

Ralf Hütter: There are many antiques. But that is still true. There are also still symphony orchestras. In our opinion, the thoughts or essence of the present can only be realized with adequate means.

Hauke Schlichting: You have very few concrete political statements in your music...

Ralf Hütter: Rather socio-political, from our everyday life.

Hauke Schlichting: You only find a concrete one in the new version of "Radioactivity".

Ralf Hütter: Yes, we inserted that because there were endless misunderstandings. We simply wanted to clarify these misunderstandings with one word ("Stop").

Hauke Schlichting: Because of the last album the topic of cycling was once again massively brought into the picture...

Ralf Hütter: I had written this lyrics in 1983 with my French friend Maxime Schmidt. Florian was experimenting with sounds at the same time with his first sampler. This resulted in the album concept "Tour de France". At that time we released only that one single under time pressure and then the ideas fell a bit into oblivion. However, this practically slumbered as a film script in a long version in the studio under the heading unfinished projects. And we just finished that now.

Hauke Schlichting: You have been active as cyclists for a very long time...

Ralf Hütter: Yes, since "Mensch-Maschine". The concept of "man-machine" has brought an awareness, from the pure sound field of music a dynamic physicality man-machine has conclusively emerged. We tried that out and the fascination has remained.

Hauke Schlichting: The unity of man and bicycle is still the man-machine.

Ralf Hütter: That's how it is.

Hauke Schlichting: The man-machine motif has always been a dream of mankind. It already existed with the Greeks, it played a major role with the alchemists, in E.T.A. Hoffmann's "Sandman", in the film "Metropolis" - there are countless examples.

Ralf Hütter: That had become reality for us. There was often the misunderstanding of the machine-man, but we were always concerned with man-machines. We are interactively connected with the machines, that has remained so until today, that is actually a synonym for Kraftwerk.

Hauke Schlichting: Was Kurt Schwitters' "Schmidt-Lied" from 1927 the model for the album "Radioaktivität"?

Ralf Hütter: I've never heard it.

Hauke Schlichting: May I quote from it?

Ralf Hütter: Yes, of course!

Hauke Schlichting: "Und wenn die Welten untergehn, / so bleibt die Welle doch bestehn. / Das Radio erzählt euch allen, / was immer neues vorgefallen. / Und funk ich hier ins Mikrofon, / hört man im Weltall jeden Ton. / Und bis in die Unendlichkeit, / erfährt man jede Neuigkeit. / Wir funken bis zum Untergang / ins Weltall kilometerlang." ("And if the worlds go under, / the wave will still exist. / The radio tells you all, / whatever new happened. / And if I radio here into the microphone, / you can hear every sound in space. / And to infinity, / you'll hear every news. / We'll radio until the end / to space for miles and miles."

Ralf Hütter: A spiritual bond!

Hauke Schlichting: It only remains for me to say that we all hope not to have to wait that long and we are looking forward to new material. You will be turning sixty next year, I hope that Kraftwerk will continue to produce music for a very long time and present it live. But if you've been cycling for 25 or 30 years, like you do, then you should probably be fit.

Ralf Hütter: Yes, we are.

Hauke Schlichting: Wonderful, good luck for the future and thank you very much.

basic premise: 16 fresh-out-of-highschool prodigies are invited to star in well-respected and widely-watched big brother-esque reality tv show, which takes place on a cruise ship. what they weren't expecting was for the show's 25th season to be a killing game! the students: CHOUMI YUKIYAMA: exceptional among even her fellow shsls, choumi made her historic mark on ballet by becoming the world's youngest ever prima ballerina at the age of 13 and japan's first ever prima ballerina assoluta at 18. fans flock to her ethereal, angelic grace on stage as well as to the percieved sense of otherworldlyness surrounding her albinism. on the darker side of her popularity, repeated sexual harassment from fans and male dance partners alike has hardened her world view to make her not quite cold, but definitely reserved in her emotions. she adapts fairly easy to stressful situations and pushes through pain with almost no visible outward struggle due to her all too common experience with dancing through foot and ankle injuries. because of this she usually ends up taking initiative in difficult scenarios if no one else steps forward. she is also a quite talented hobbyist figure skater and is fluent in both english and russian. REN KIKUHARA: a fairly odd florist in that instead of ordering flowers to arrange into bouquets, every flower he sells is grown himself. although this means that his selection is seasonally and fairly regionally limited, he has an incredible talent for working with plants and can even sometimes coax out-of-zone flowers to grow. he's fluent in hanakotoba and is surprisingly good at flirting through flowers without it seeming cheesy, although he doesn't do it very often. people often remark that his bouquets often seem to have more love and life in them than store-bought ones. ren is a calm and kind soul and prefers listening to talking, with what he does say always seeming to be just the right words for the situation. MARIKO MIKAMI: mariko was a sickly child, and spent a large part of her elementary school years in hospitals. around the age of seven, she began folding paper cranes as something to do, and wished to live normally after she folded her 1000th. she soon recovered, and feels that she owes her life to origami. she is precise and calculating in everything she does, which shines through in her art: every delicate, artful piece of origami that she makes is creased and folded perfectly. she also dabbles in wet-fold origami. she's most famous for her dry-fold though, and her pieces are well known for their complex, precise, mathematical beauty. she refuses to fold paper cranes anymore, feeling that they are too sacred for her to touch after they saved her life as a child. a calm, slightly disconcerting smile is always on her face, no matter the circumstance; her manner is polite for the most part, if i a little aggressive. MOMOTAROU KOBARA: momotarou, born into a rich family that fufilled his near-every want, made a name for himself in the world of collecting at the age of just eleven by, through luck and love for the series, collecting every pokemon card. from then on he set onto collecting just about anything non-perishable: pins, collectors set bandaids, vinyls, etc. he has exceptional luck in finding deals on ebay and other sites. he cant really be called a hoarder, since he likes to have just one of everything; he resells, gifts, or uses any duplicates. his mood swings between a dreamy, chilled out, flirtatious persona and periods of numb depression when it hits him that his whole life revolves around material possesions and that he has no real human connections. SARA KUROKAWA: a talented young woman from a long line of popular backalley tattoo artists. she combines traditional symbolism and youthful influence in her designs to make something new and more appealing for the younger generation, and is a huge proponent for tattoos being shown off for fashion rather than hidden away in the traditional style. sara does have (illegal) tattoos done by her older siblings on her arms despite the minimum age being 20, although her being homeschooled, looking older than her actual age, and having a tendency to wear long sleeves year round has led her to encounter few problems. she and her family are among the many who simply choose to ignore the statute requiring a medical license to tattoo. sara is a fairly rude person in a backhanded way, acts stereotypically catty and even a little deranged sometimes, and enjoys making herself the center of attention, whether through her appearance (dyed pink hair and white contacts) or the things she says. the only two things that can break her shell and make her excited and genuine are tattooing and piano, which she has played from a young age and loves. NAOHIKO KINZUMI: the son of a concert pianist and a professional jazz drummer, naohiko shortcutted the usual pots-and-pans percussion stage most children go through and spent most of his childhood hitting actual drums. blessed with perfect pitch and a natural feel for rhythm, his parents enrolled him in private music lessons at age five, and he joined onto his first indoor percussion ensemble at age 13. a fast learner, naohiko can play most all percussion instruments at a professional level, including both tuned and auxiliary. he is especially known for his drumset skill, specifically being able to match the speed and complexity of most double kick pedal rhythms with just one foot, and his delicate grace at bowed vibraphone. naohiko is loud, brash, and fun, with an infectious smile and sense of humor that draws people in. despite the flashiness of his drumset playing, his favourite instruments are actually the weird obscure ones, like the waterphone, mahler hammer, and "bucket of loud objects to be dumped on the floor". HARUMI HAMANAKA: harumi is a sweet and bubbly girl, if almost cloyingly so. her good luck is a fairly stable force (nowhere near as chaotic as komaeda, for example), generally acting in the favor of wishes of people around her. her mother intensly wanted for her to be on the show because of the exposure it provides, and this is what harumi attributes to her being selected. despite the way her luck operates, shes no doormat and in fact has an overwhelming force of personality, and her sweet demeanor can become rather passive aggressive if challenged on pretty much anything. SHOU KATSUKI (PROTAG): pushed to succeed in the game from a very young age, shou is japan's reigning chess champion, a FIDE-certified grandmaster, and went to international competition the year before the killing game. he played through to the finals with influenza, which worsened through the matches due to lack of treatment and culminated in debilitating pneumonia that left him in the hospital and unable to play for first. because of this, he's cultivated a sort of inferiority complex that he tries to cover for with self-confidence, which actually comes off as condescending rudeness. he has a natural talent for cause and effect analyzation and is good at planning ahead. he gets flustered easily over trivial things and is a sore loser, but tends not to crack under actual pressure. shou doesn't like to be associated with his family due to the intense pressure they put him under only to steal his winnings the second he began to succeed and thus prefers to be referred to by his given name, even by near-strangers. he does genuinely love chess, but his favourite board game is actually risk. (no one ever wants to play with him, though.) RIKA FUJIMIYA: originally scouted as a young child for her unique eyes and birthmarks, rika's first minor film role at the age of nine left the director stunned at her acting capability. as someone who grew up with a very murky self image and a difficulty interpreting social situations, rika lived most of her early life essentially "acting" the way she believed others would respond well to, which resulted in her easily adapting to doing the same for the cameras. she went on to have a very prolific child acting career without really settling into a niche. As a teenager she took her first steps into stage acting, playing juliet capulet at 16 in a moving and extremely impressive performance, and later at 18 performing a striking and memorable female hamlet. her deep and rich voice has also landed her several voice acting roles. her personality offstage has solidified a lot more since her younger years, although she doesn't go out of her way to talk to anyone, fan or otherwise. when approached, she is polite, gentle, and humble, although she has trouble separating her image as a celebrity from that of her as a person and thus it is extremely difficult to get to know her. KENJI MINAMOTO: an eccentric and a bit airheaded olympic fencer whose strange insistence on not wearing protective gear during practice (he believes it makes him better by giving him a stronger motivation to not get hit) has earned him many a scar over the years, and has left at least half of his joints in braces at any given time. he follows his own bushido-esque moral code (the details of which he will not tell anyone), although he will not put himself above whapping the occasional really annoying person in the ankles. his épée is his best friend and he carries it most everywhere. most of the scars on his face and hands are actually from trying to put in his very sharp industrial piercings while drunk. despite his oddities, his light-footed and elegant ambidextrous fencing has been compared by many to a graceful dance, and although in many respects he comes across as dumb, on the court his mind is laser-focused and unbelievably quick and analytic. AMANE BECKE: a more lowkey type of talented than her fellow contestants, amane hasn't won any major competitions, been on tv, set any records, or anything of that sort. she does, however, run what is widely considered the best bakery in japan. based out of nagano and the daughter of a swiss pastry chef, amane has a natural talent for baking nurtured through over a decade of dedication and love for the craft. she excels at interesting flavor combinations, but her true genius is in her classic, feel-good baked goods. many say that the things she bakes just taste like home and warmth. amane is as warm and sweet as her creations, but with a spark of wit and mad-scientist-y genius that make her an entertaining joy to watch work, if a little overbearing to talk to. EISUKE ITOU: eisuke grew up sewing clothes for his younger sisters barbie dolls, and he particularly loved dressmaking. he gained exposure in his first year of highschool by handmaking gorgeous outfits for his class's booth at the school festival, and, through application to various junior fashion competitions, he was eventually noticed by a big-name designer in paris. however, he found learning french next to impossible and has spent the year prior to the game in relative isolation, unable to have any real human conversation. his psychological state was fairly severely impacted by his long hours spent sewing and designing on internship with no company to get him by, and he is now debilitatingly socially anxious and finds conversation difficult and awkward. MAYA HANABAYASHI: maya spent her early teens with only a passing interest in survival-based media, having enjoyed hunger games and similar media, but not to the point of obsession. however, when traveling on a plane with her father back from visiting family in las vegas, she found herself in a similar situation when their plane went down in a heavily forested area of california, leaving a seventeen year old maya as the only survivor. with only a swiss army knife and a lipstick-shaped stun gun gifted to her by her father to feel safer during their stay in vegas, she survived alone in the woods hatchet-style for six months until late fall, when the fallen leaves made her campfire coincidentally visible to a very observant park ranger on firewatch. after being rescued and returned home to japan, maya found it extremely difficult to readjust to normal life. her thick and warm camo jacket, more a fashion statement when she was wearing it originally, was lifesaver to her during the cold spring, and she she can't bring herself to separate from it even with multiple rips and burns in the fabric. she has refused multiple book deals due to still being heavily traumatized, but after a long period of deliberation decided to go on the show as a way of finally moving forward and acknowledging it. maya isn't exactly socially anxious, but rather closed off and disconnected. JUN TENSEI: born jun harada, many believe that his spiritual connection is the real deal, but a few critics hold that he is most likely just an incredibly talented bluffer. the real truth about him is unknown, but many say that his seances do accurately reflect the personalities of their deceased loved ones and help them feel at peace. he is deeply religious, but not to any one traditional faith (although he does use traditional christian symbols such as crucifixes and items such as holy water on occasion). he believes strongly in the power of the soul and its ability to exist beyond death. his voice is soft and almost hypnotic, and he has a penchant for gentle teasing and riddles. he comes off as pretty shady to most, but he's fairly harmless. TOMOKO KAITA: a peppy and outgoing astrology guru who can read your deepest flaws and strengths with just your date and time of birth. known worldwide for her extremely accurate personal horoscopes. despite this, she strongly believes in the ability of an individual to defy their fate through hard work and self improvement. she dislikes giving negative horoscopes, and does her best to focus on the positives that the stars hold in store. her smile brightens the whole room! she is intensely loyal to her friends, to the point of self-sacrificing emotional labor. YUU IROIKE: yuu iroike isn't even his real name, and it's a mystery as to how show staff even tracked down his mailing address to get him on the show. he's a well-known public figure for painting huge, sprawling, colorful murals in tokyo, yet who he really is remains unknown. he paints faster than his murals can be scrubbed away, and has somehow never been prosecuted for vandalism because his graffiti is generally considered an improvment. he's sly, mysterious, and teasing in person, and gets a bit of an itchy trigger finger when he hasn't painted in a while. His skill with spray paint is so great that it seems as if the paint bends to his very will.

Body functions:

Head- Removable. He could survive as just a head for about a week. Only because as a head, he can't move. In these emergency instance, he uses his ears to signal to nearby rodents to assist him and carry him to safety/his body.

Ears- His ears are not his original ears. Pointed for looks, but also so he could better set the mechanics of the tips. The tips of his ears are signal lights, but are usually off or dim unless there's an emergency or he is using his ears for specific uses. His ears have volume control settings and can also emit specific sounds only animals can pick up. For example, he is capable of echo location.

Torso- Temperature controlled. Much larger on the inside than you'd expect. The screen on his lower half is his general control panel. It controls the general functions of his body such as temperature, time and date, alarms, shopping lists/general notes, calculator, etc.. Minor things. Two rats live inside his torso. There are also rumors of people being teleported or revived through his torso, but they come out smaller in size (which they grow out of)... However these rumors are neither confirmed nor denied.

Hands- Arms removed due to it being an inconvenience. His hands can dock inside of his torso when not in use (in older designs, he did not have a proper panel to close these docks. Now, he had proper panels that close securely). They can only go about 20 feet away from his body at this time. The cables sticking out are partially for looks, but also because his two rodent friends live in his torso.... And they like to munch. They're simple, non-toxic in material. He replaces them once a month.

Legs and Feet- Durable and light weight. His knees function as lights... Which can be a bit awkward to use sometimes, but helpful nonetheless. His feet are large and, outside of being durable, have no other uses... But a witness, P*m (censored for her safety), claims there's a secret compartment...

Before he became an Android, he used to work in a fast food joint... That secretly conducted experiments to make the Ultimate Rodent. Why? That's remained a mystery since he got fired. He could never really hold a job... When he left, he took his two rat companions (to be elaborated and named in the future).

In his bout of hopelessness; unable to secure a new job... He was in a car accident. Conveniently(?), he was hit by his old boss. Feeling bad for the guy, his boss took him in for a bit. Thus resulting in him being given an android body... As his original body was simply unusable. His boss, wanting to be repaid, planned to ask R0AD for several favors. Just as morning came, his boss went to see him.... Only for him to be gone. R0AD figured he'd have to repay this debt and, having enough issues as it is, decided to leave a note saying thanks and a piece of candy (which already belonged to the boss).

He doesn't feel good about this decision. But he has two little mouths to feed! He can't become some hero!

Shortly after, he gathered his belongings, his rat friends, and head out to sea. His hometown had begun to grow corrupt... Little seams in this peaceful, futuristic reality began to burst... But R0AD wanted to avoid any possibilities of becoming the protagonist.

He was last seen leaving in a paddle tub boat. Heading in the direction of Neo Swedden. Who knows if he still lives... Rumors have it he made it to Neo Swedden and met a harpy...

These rumors are neither confirmed nor denied.

Verse 15 tells us for that either Dinah wasn’t Jacob’s only daughter or, as said earlier, the daughters could logically include daughters-in-law. Arguing about the count becomes nonsensical when we know everyone wasn’t included in the count of those that mattered to God’s ministry of reconciliation. There are obviously servants to consider, as well, which are not mentioned.

We also come to differences in the count given for different reasons at different times.

Exodus 1:5  And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: for Joseph was in Egypt already.

Deuteronomy 10:22  Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons; and now the LORD thy God hath made thee as the stars of heaven for multitude.

Acts 7:14  Then sent Joseph, and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, threescore and fifteen souls.

Some argue about these differences with fundamentalists trying to gloss over what they fear naggingly in the back of their minds is an error in the text. However, the problem is with the modern reader who is infected with a mental problem I call modernism. You read the Bible like you would read the owner’s manual for your car rather than as you would read a letter sent to you from afar, in this case a distant time, a personal account of something dear to the writer. The Holy Ghost, through the wisdom and understanding, the meaning of Biblical inspiration which is not word-for-word dictation, given to Moses, refers to events from the perspective of their importance to the point He is trying to get across (see Job 32:8; 2Peter 3:15). In one reference He may include wives who are not included in another or He may be referring to an event from another angle and only include specific others. The modern fundamentalist who claims to believe the Bible literally, which they don’t really, in their attempts to explain by juggling numbers what the Bible says, is really expressing their own disbelief and lack of faith by trying to explain a contradiction that isn’t there.

I went over this kind of thinking when I was discussing years, back in my comments on 15:12-16, regarding the length of years that the Hebrews were to be persecuted. The point is all of the number references are correct and any differences can be explained by the Holy Ghost counting people in one who are not counted in another. We will find this again in the numbers who will die in a plague later in another book. Verses 26 and 27 warn us that our calculations may not be based on God’s calculations which will keep the doubter or the skeptic spinning his or her wheels trying to find an equation that will make him or her feel better.

Genesis 46:28 ¶  And he sent Judah before him unto Joseph, to direct his face unto Goshen; and they came into the land of Goshen. 29  And Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet Israel his father, to Goshen, and presented himself unto him; and he fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while. 30  And Israel said unto Joseph, Now let me die, since I have seen thy face, because thou art yet alive. 31  And Joseph said unto his brethren, and unto his father’s house, I will go up, and shew Pharaoh, and say unto him, My brethren, and my father’s house, which were in the land of Canaan, are come unto me; 32  And the men are shepherds, for their trade hath been to feed cattle; and they have brought their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have. 33 And it shall come to pass, when Pharaoh shall call you, and shall say, What is your occupation? 34  That ye shall say, Thy servants’ trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians.

Chapter 45, verse 10 told us that Goshen was close to where Joseph ruled from. It is commonly understood that the New Kingdom period of ancient Egypt, the period of the Egyptian Empire was from around the 16th century BC to the 11th century BC. This marked the peak of Egypt’s power. It includes the time that Egypt had hegemony over the land of Canaan which is important to understanding Numbers 14:9 and various extra-Biblical documents from Canaan pleading for help from the Egyptians. It was preceded by the Hyksos invasion and rule. I believe that Joseph’s Pharaoh was from this time, that he was a Hyksos, and that is why he was favorable to Joseph and his family. This is called Egypt’s Second Intermediate Period. Of course, much of this is educated guesswork as the Egyptians did not refer to any of their eras the way we refer to them and no one ever called themselves, “the Hyksos.” These are all made-up terms by scholars.

In any event, Judah went first to meet Joseph and Jacob and the rest followed. Christ is the first to rise from the dead never to physically die again, to be resurrected. Judah is Christ’s physical ancestor. Here is more typology that is great subject material for sermons. Joseph prepared himself to greet his father in Goshen.

Joseph promised to introduce them to Pharaoh. Here is more evidence for my view that the Pharaoh of Joseph’s time was a Hyksos, of the so-called Shepherd-kings. To the leadership Joseph’s family of herders would be welcome but to the Egyptians they were an abomination. The land of Goshen separates their living from the rest of Egypt.

The word cattle includes all herd animals not just beef cows as we use the word today.

Genesis 13:7  And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram’s cattle and the herdmen of Lot’s cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land.

Genesis 30:32  I will pass through all thy flock to day, removing from thence all the speckled and spotted cattle, and all the brown cattle among the sheep, and the spotted and speckled among the goats: and of such shall be my hire.

Hello, Good Morning and Welcome….  With the inevitability of the Julian calendar, Monday has rolled around once more and we prepare ourselves for another working week…For me, my life is no different than when I worked  for my company, but the sign on the door says, “Retired” which translates to past it, and effectively means, that no company will consider you for employment, so you are supposed to get up late, have a lazy day… because you earned it … I think that is the way to an early grave, I remain active, both physical and mentally, walking Bella, writing The Thistle and The Tulip and many other articles, it all keeps the body and the mind active,

APPEAL AFTER HIGH-VALUE PAINTINGS STOLEN IN MIDLOTHIAN…. Two high-value paintings have been stolen from a house in Midlothian. The works by Scottish artists were taken from a home in the Eskbank area of Dalkeith between Tuesday 17 October and Thursday 19 October last year, but details have just been released. Police said the thieves gained access to the property and took the paintings which hold sentimental value to the owner. Both paintings are original pieces and are forensically marked. The first is a picture of fish entitled "The Maverick" by artist Gordon Mitchell and the second is "The Lady with the Skate" by John Bellany. Officers are asking anyone with information to come forward. PC Emily Dalgetty from Musselburgh Police Station said: "These pieces of art have huge sentimental value to the owner and we are keen to trace those responsible for their theft. "I would ask anyone who has seen, or been offered these paintings, to contact us as soon as possible."

GLASGOW CITY CENTRE IS ONE OF UK'S POOREST AREAS…. Glasgow is among the UK's poorest constituencies, according to a new report. The End Child Poverty Coalition, made up of charities, faith groups and trade unions, said that 45% of children in the city centre were living in poverty. Glasgow Central appears 12th on a list of 20 constituencies, which is otherwise dominated by communities in London, Birmingham and Manchester. West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine had the fewest children in poverty at 9.2%. The Coalition calculated the number of children in poverty using a combination of HMRC data and a Labour Force Survey. A child was classed as poor if their family had less than £248 a week to spend after housing costs. That amount is less than 60% of median household income in the UK. Across Scottish constituencies, the organisation found that just under a third of children in North Ayrshire (29%) and Dundee (28%) were living in poverty. Other areas, such as North Lanarkshire, East Ayrshire, Inverclyde, West Dunbartonshire and Clackmannanshire had a quarter of children in poverty.

MOBILE CINEMA OPERATOR SECURES KEY FUNDING…. The operator of the UK's only full-time, self-contained mobile cinema has secured the funding it needs to run its programme for the next three years. Regional Screen Scotland (RSS) said Creative Scotland intends to provide it with a total grant of £620,350 for April 2018 to March 2021. Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) will also give a total of £75,000 over the same period. RSS operates the mobile cinema the Screen Machine. The service was originally started in 1998. The current vehicle, which has been in use since 2005, was fully refurbished last year. The cinema tours the Highlands, Inner and Outer Hebrides and Northern Isles. RSS said: "We're delighted that the continuing success of the Screen Machine, which visited 51 different locations in the last year, has been so firmly endorsed by our two key funders."

TRAIN COULD BE MOVED AFTER LANDSLIP ON WEST HIGHLAND LINE…. NetworkRail Scotland said it could soon be possible to move a train that was caught up in a landslip on the West Highland Line on Monday. Five passengers were on board when the train came off the track early on Monday morning. No-one was injured. The line is blocked at Loch Eilt between Arisaig and Glenfinnan and the ScotRail Alliance has said Fort William-Mallaig services will be suspended until further notice. Engineers from NetworkRail Scotland are clearing tonnes of material to free the train and clear the line. A spokesman for the company said: "Works on site are progressing well. "Yesterday the team drained standing water from around the derailed vehicle and began to dig out the mud surrounding it. "Today we will complete the removal of the landslip material from around the train and then re-rail it. If possible we may move the train today, but that may not happen until tomorrow." He added: "In the days after that, we'll repair damage to the track and carry out further works to secure the slope."

UNTAXED CAR CATCHES OUT CANNABIS COURIERS…. Two men were caught with almost £30,000 worth of cannabis after using an untaxed car to transport the drug, a court heard. Kieran Teasdale and Jacob Simpson were pulled over by police after a routine computer check showed that their vehicle had not been taxed. Officers noticed a "strong smell of cannabis" coming from the car when its window was wound down. Both men were jailed for 19 months at Perth Sheriff Court. Depute fiscal Michael Sweeney told the court that the total weight of the cannabis was almost 2kg and it had a potential street value of £29,000. The court was told that the chance discovery was made because Simpson had "stupidly" decided to use an untaxed car to drive the cannabis from Bradford to Aberdeen. Simpson, 27, and Teasdale, 24, both from Bradford, had earlier admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis on the M90 on the outskirts of Perth in April 2016.

That was a big deal because his work led to the atom bomb. Before Durer tried making engravings, no one took them very seriously. You can write programs that manipulate them. We usually advise startups to pick a single user and act as if they used the worse-is-better approach but stopped after the first stage and handed the thing over to marketers. Instead of garden sheds they must design huge art museums. Combine that with Pirsig and you get: Live in the future to say this is the truth. But though the result is occasionally cheesy, it's never boring. All you need to undertake to actually be successful. It just worked. It seems to me that he would want to use, like English. Be nice.

Schools are careful what they say about controversial topics, and if one group is a minority in some population, pairs of them will amount to anything. One of the two founders was still in grad school.1 That's one advantage of being small: you can provide a level of service no big company can. But you can and should give users an insanely great experience with an early, incomplete, buggy product, if you have the right sort of person who can have organic startup ideas. Since you can't derive as much benefit yet from a narrow focus, you may think you know how the world works, and any theory a 10 year old. Wouldn't it be amazing if we could achieve a 50% success rate? How many of their users actually needed to do these rentals to pay their rents. They build a coarser model of their surroundings, and this consumes less energy.2 Would it be so bad to add a margin for error.

Which means you should avoid doing things in earlier rounds that will mess up raising an A round. Are there better ways to solve them? I'm thinking this is going to have to do whatever it is eventually. There's a hack for being decisive when you're inexperienced: ratchet down the size of investment they like to make, but only one step. But because adults conceal their flaws, and at the same rate. Now that you can find plenty that are cheap and lightweight. That is certainly a good goal, but in series A rounds with no loss of quality.3 One of the most successful startups it's a necessary part of the money. Several well-known investors. “The green space was a huge factor in choosing this apartment,” Mr. Michaels said. “My wife and I are out there every other night, grilling or relaxing. And we like that they host classes out there.”

The Emme actually has two rooftop gardens — the one visible to residents on a deck on the third floor and a 5,000-square-foot garden on the roof of the 14-story building. Residents at the Emme can also subscribe to regular bundles of rooftop-grown fruits and vegetables.

As concerns about climate change and dwindling natural resources grow, green roofs have become increasingly popular. The Toronto-based organization Green Roofs for Healthy Cities estimates an increase of about 15 percent in the number of green roofs in North America since 2013.

Replacing black asphalt and shingles with plants can lower the surrounding air temperature, filter dirty storm water and reduce a building’s energy use.

While it is difficult to calculate the savings, as utility costs vary from city to city, the National Research Council of Canada estimates a green roof can reduce air-conditioning use in a building by as much as 75 percent.

Beyond the energy savings, by lowering air-conditioning demand, green roofs also help to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, according to the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

As understanding of the benefits grows, more cities around the world are passing green roof legislation. In 2010 Copenhagen began requiring green roofs on all new commercial buildings with a roof slope of less than 30 degrees. In 2016, the city of Córdoba in Argentina issued a bylaw that directed all rooftops — new or existing — of more than 1,300 square feet to be turned into green roofs. The same year, San Francisco began requiring that 15 to 30 percent of roof space on new buildings incorporate solar panels, green roofs or both. More recently, the New York City Council passed a suite of measures to reduce greenhouse gases, including a requirement for green roofs, solar panels or a combination of both on newly constructed buildings. Other cities support green roofs through non-legislative measures; Washington, D.C.’s storm water regulations and Philadelphia’s tax credit both encourage green roofs.

Since the law was enacted, roughly 640 green roofs, covering more than five million square feet collectively, have been constructed, effectively changing Toronto’s architectural DNA and making the city a leader in the green roof movement.

Simply put, a green roof is one that allows for the growth of vegetation, but the process is more involved than plopping down a few potted plants. Typically, a green or living roof is constructed of several layers including a waterproof membrane, a root barrier, a drainage layer, a growing medium — soil is too heavy — and plants.

As green roofs have become amenities for residents and employees, they often also include picnic tables, benches, fire pits and other extras.

Before Toronto’s green roof bylaw took effect, the Hugh Garner Housing Co-operative in the city decided to build one when its roof membrane needed replacement. Residents were presented with three designs — one that evoked a circus, one modeled after an English garden and one that brought to mind a city park. Residents voted for the park in the early 2000s, and today, the 22,000-square-foot roof features flower beds, trees, an herb garden, gazebos and specially-made picnic tables that are wheelchair-accessible.

“In the summer, every picnic table will have folks eating dinner out there,” said Beata Domanska, a resident and former board member who advocated the green roof. “People are up there playing cards, reading, sun tanning. We have member events there. We’ve even had weddings up there. It’s become part of the culture here.”

Of course, green roofs are not entirely new.

“We’ve been using soil and plants as a roofing material for thousands of years,” said Steven Peck, the founder and president of Green Roofs for Healthy Cities. “The Vikings would flip their boats over and cover them in sod because it’s a great insulator. What’s new is the research the Germans have done. They essentially invented the lightweight extensive system.”

In the 1970s, German horticulturists, construction companies and others began developing waterproofing technologies and researching blends of growing mediums that would be lighter than soil. In the 1980s, Germany passed a mix of local and federal laws encouraging green roof development and today the country features approximately 925,000,000 square feet of living roof. The movement began to take root in the United States and Canada in the early 2000s, with developers, architects and designers looking to imitate Germany’s achievement.

Today, the University of Toronto’s Green Roof Innovation Testing Laboratory has grown into a leader in green roof research. The state-of-the-art facility uses 33 test beds, a weather station and more than 250 sensors gathering data on soil moisture, flow rates, temperature, rainfall, humidity and amounts of sun and wind to help researchers assess and improve green roof performance.

Research like this helped overcome some early hurdles when ambitious designs, plant choice, lack of irrigation or a combination of factors left plants dying and green roofs turning brown.

“The focus has shifted from pretty to performance,” explained Vanessa Keitges, the chief executive of Columbia Green Technologies, the firm behind more than 1,500 green roofs in North America, including Amazon’s headquarters in Seattle and the Zella Apartments there, which feature a deck with an herb garden, outdoor kitchen, dog run and plenty of seating. “We’re getting better at fine-tuning the plant palette so you don’t end up with a brown roof. We’ve moved to drip irrigation instead of spray. We’re designing systems that are much easier to maintain. We want them to be goof proof.”

City planners are looking to green roofs to mitigate the urban “heat island” effect, which describes a metropolitan area that’s significantly warmer than surrounding rural areas because of human activity. Air temperatures in cities, particularly after sunset, can be as much as 22 degrees Fahrenheit (around 12 degrees Celsius) warmer than less developed regions. The elevated temperatures raise energy consumption, increase air pollutants and compromise human health, with extreme heat now causing more deaths in the United States than all other weather events combined, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The vegetation on a living roof cools the surrounding air through evapotranspiration, the process in which moisture in plant leaves evaporates into the air, essentially working like an outdoor air-conditioning system. In addition, the increased insulation and decreased need for air-conditioning means less overheated air is put back into the surrounding environment.

The plants on green roofs also work like a giant sponge, soaking up water and therefore reducing the amount of rainwater that reaches street level, lowering the risk of flooding, minimizing sewer system overflow and filtering dirty runoff.

“Cities are built to be impervious,” Mr. Peck said. “The water runs off buildings and streets, and when it hits streams and estuaries, it can cause erosion. It’s also incredibly contaminated. If you want to have drinkable, fishable, swimmable water in and around our cities, we need to capture storm water and use it as a resource, instead of just getting it away from the buildings as soon as possible.”

Beyond the long list of financial, health and environmental benefits, green roofs have become valued amenities in residential buildings.

“We were really keen on finding a place with outdoor space,” said Carolyn Kushner, who chose the apartment building 525W52 in New York in part because of the roof, which features lounge chairs overlooking the Hudson River, a large lawn, grilling stations, bocce ball and Ping-Pong and shuffle board tables, all surrounded by shrubs and greenery. Dr. Kushner and her partner — who proposed on the roof — go up there several times a week. “We have a glass of wine and watch the sunset. The city can be really overwhelming if you don’t get that kind of greenery. It’s nice to have someplace to escape to.”

One early cause of hesitation in adopting living roofs was the upfront cost. Green roofs cost two to three times as much as a traditional roof.

“With so many environmental initiatives, it often boils down to money,” Ms. Domanska said. “One of the ways we’re able to sell this is that a green roof significantly extends the life span of a roof. Over time it saves money. That was very attractive to the people who live here. Now people see all the benefits, but initially it was about the savings.”

Studies bear this out. A 2006 study from the University of Michigan compared the expected costs of conventional roofs with the cost of a 21,000-square-foot green roof and found that over its lifetime, the green roof would save about $200,000. Almost two-thirds of that would be in reduced energy needs for the building below.

“We’ve established best practices for creating green roofs,” Mr. Peck said. “We have political leaders looking for ways to improve the health and well-being of the people in their cities and also address climate change. We have research that shows the benefits of green roofs. It seems clear that the cities that invest in green infrastructure will be the cities that thrive.”

Movers, we hate them, but we need them.

Let me share with you what I learned about movers and moving companies in the past eight years.

First, let me begin by saying that I am not a fan of the moving process. Most of the time it is a complicated and a very stressful event.

A little about myself:

My name is George, I worked with various moving companies for the past eight years. I worked as a mover, driver, foreman, and a packer for the first four years.

After, I began my work in the office. I worked as the sales, customer service assistant and the dispatch. I have a good idea of what it is like to be a mover.

How can I describe a moving company? Shortly, individual or a few individuals opened a business to help other to relocate their household goods.

What are the essential parts of the moving company?

The legal entity registered with the state (LLC or INC in most cases)

State and county licenses to operate as a mover.

Enough insurance coverage to be licensed.

Location for the operation and other business-related activities.

Moving equipment:

Box trucks.

Handling equipment.

Packing supplies.

Warehouse equipment.

Experienced personal that passed background checks.

Proper paperwork that is checked and regulated by USDOT.

A lot of the companies missing those things. Unfortunately, Department of Transportation doesn’t have enough resources to control every moving company in the U.S.

I suggest doing your research carefully. Moving companies must have their essential parts in order. You need to go and check your movers.

What do I recommend?

 Visit DOT self-check site

Ask your mover for the DOT number. Check it online:

Department of transportation check your mover (link to the DOT)

Moving company refuses to provide you with their DOT number? Avoid them, do not do business with the shady practices.

Check the website

Moving company must list all the licenses, their contact information and related information about the business.

Avoid companies with old, outdated websites.

Think, if they cannot update their website or provide you with the necessary information, what quality of the services can they offer?

 Visit Department of Commerce for your state

Check Google for the link to the Department of Commerce of your state. Look up a business name of the moving company. If you can’t find it, try to look up as a DBA.

If you are unable to get any information, I would ask a moving company to provide their official profile. Avoid moving companies that are registered in different states.

These are some of my suggestions. Better be safe than sorry. A great moving company should pass all the checks and have everything that I described above in place.

Moving company should be responsive and open to all the questions that clients might have.

 Movers, people behind the business

Doing research on the moving company is important. It is also important to check who will be handling your move.

Call up the moving company you have chosen, ask them a bit more information about the movers who will take care of your move.

In the perfect world movers should:

Be punctual (Show up on time)

Be courteous

Have an ability to work for long periods of time.

Treat you, and your items with respect.

Always inform you of any changes, either in the billing or the planning of your move.

Communicate any issues with your move to the office promptly.

Being a mover is not an easy task. Many moving companies struggle with the hiring of committed helpers or drivers.

Average pay for movers can differ greatly, based on the experience and performance. Depending on the type of the job movers either getting paid per job or per hour.

 Should I tip the movers?

The short answer is yes, you should. This is a common question that most of our new clients ask. Moving company can never suggest tipping, but we won’t be against it.

Moving is a hard job, and movers are always appreciating the tip. The amount is irrelevant.

An average tip can vary. We suggest $10/per person for each $500 of the bill. So, let’s say your move took 6 hours to complete with 2 guys, and your total was $600-800. $20/tip for each mover will be a perfect amount. This calculation only applies to the local moves.

For the out of state moves, we suggest $10/per person for each $1000 of the bill.

Talk to the foreman, or the crew leader to take care of the tipping. He will make sure to split the tip equally between workers and provide you with the change if needed.

 How do I prepare for the movers?

There are no specific instructions on how to be ready for movers. However, there are some tips that I can share.

Make sure that your pets are locked in the bathroom or any other place where movers won’t go. Moving bulky and heavy items is difficult. Therefore, it is even more difficult when you have a dog or a cat running in front of you.

Prepare your items to be moved. Clean up all the mess around the boxes and the furniture. This way it will be easier for the movers to grab your furniture and load it to the truck.

Empty out your drawers. Loaded drawers add a lot of weight to the item and can increase chances for it to be damaged. Save money and time by organizing miscellaneous items. If possible, have water available upon request. These small things can greatly improve your moving experience and ensure a smooth relocation.

They are the ones who you need to call if you are not going to move out of state. Usually, local movers will charge you based on the hourly rate. Depending on the date and the size of your job rates can vary greatly.

 Long distance moving company

If you are looking to move out of state, these would be the movers to call.

Long distance moving company carry licenses to handle your goods between the states. Long distance moving companies charge based on weight or the size of your shipment.

If you are looking to reduce the cost of your move, I would suggest getting rid of the old items that you don’t use.

It is a great time to unclutter and dispose of unnecessary garbage in your house.

 Commercial moving company

Commercial movers specialize in the relocation of the businesses. They are moving offices, warehouses, stores and all the commercial organizations. Commercial movers carry better insurance coverage and have personal that specializes in the disassembly of the office furniture.

Moving your office? Have cubicles? Call commercial movers and check if they can move your cubicles. Not all the commercial movers offer to relocate cubicles.

 Moving to the storage company

Movers who provide a storage option for their clients. Either a short or a long term. Depending on the company it can be either a separated unit or a facility with the wooden crates.

Contact your movers and ask them about the type of the facility. Check if you can access it at any time or it has to be by an appointment. This way you won’t be surprised.

 Piano moving company

Not all the movers offer a piano moving service. If you have a piano, I would suggest checking with your mover if they offer services to relocate it.

It is hard to move pianos, they are extremely heavy and complex musical instruments.

The upright piano is a much easier and a cheaper to move, however, baby grand can cost more than $500.00 to relocate. Movers should carry a piano board and the straps to secure it on the board.

 Movers for your bulky items

What items considered to be bulky? Safes, pianos, pool tables, swings and other furniture that are extremely heavy and sizeable. There are moving companies who specialize in the relocation of the bulky items. They carry proper equipment and tools.

Have any of the items described above? Call up your mover and check if they are able to move it. Sometimes it can add up to the cost of your original estimate. However, it is better to let one mover do it all. This way you can avoid a headache of trying to communicate with the two moving companies at the same time.

 Art and antique movers

Your most valuable items must be moved with care. Not all the movers know how to prepare your art and antiques for the move. Fortunately, there are companies who specialize in moving of the high-value items.

Do you have any art or valuable antiques? I suggest to purchase additional insurance and inform your mover about the relocation of these pieces. When informed, movers can be prepared and get all the necessary tools and packing ready.

The safest way of moving art and antiques is to place them inside of a custom-made wooden crate. It can be expensive, but the level of protection worth the cost.

 A company who handles packing 

Do you need help organizing and packing your boxes? There are movers who can help you. Some moving companies offer full packing, unpacking, and organizing. Check with your moving company about the cost of the full packing services and what comes with it.

In most cases, movers will provide all the packing materials and get the job done for you in no time.

Unfortunately, not many people know that full packing services do not include unpacking. Unpacking services billed separately and most of the movers will only unpack your items by opening the boxes and putting them on the first counter they see.

What is best, packing yourself or be packed by the movers? I suggest movers, but both ways have their advantages.

 Delivery company

The delivery company offers express delivery of a small or a partial load. Single furniture items, pallets or a minimum amount of boxes can be delivered to you by a delivery company at a more affordable cost then what movers would charge. I suggest hiring a delivery company if you have a minimal amount of things.

Sometimes movers can provide delivery services. Moving companies that have smaller box trucks and moving vans can offer such service.

 Furniture removal company

Removals offered by many, from landscape companies to the businesses specialized in recycling. Moving companies offer such services to the customers who move. This way they don’t have to hire a separate company to do the removals. Moving company can take your old furniture and donate or trash it. 

Speak with the representative of the moving company and ask them about the removal services. Not all the companies will advertise this, as it is not their primary service.

 The estimate for your move. Honest vs. dishonest movers.

There are two types of the moving estimate. Binding and non-binding. You as a customer need to be sure to pick the right one. Otherwise, you can find yourself in the uncomfortable situation.
