Fic Snip - Hawkmoth gets A Reference
“Who I was before I became Chat Noir died a quiet and unknown death.” he continued, his body refusing to stop with just that simple answer. “That version of me lost someone important, and that already hurt, but then the second person he cared deeply about shut him away and it killed him. All that was left was a hollow shell that didn’t have any aspirations, no ambition or sense of self. It wasn’t even hard for him to die since almost everything that had made him, the connection between those two, had died before him, and not even the last two connections he had could save that life. Then the ring came, and it carried with it a dream, a new life, a new plethora of connections that filled the emptiness inside. Now the true self that I show to my friends, that isn’t a ‘civilian me’, it’s just Chat Noir shining through, and everyone else sees the ‘perfect’ child of his father. Really, the question shouldn’t be ‘What is Chat Noir’s secret identity?’ and more of ‘Who is Chat Noir’s Mask?’”
The silence was deafening, and Chat Noir could feel his Lady’s shook gaze burning into him just as much as the villain’s, and Hawkmoth’s through the link.
{Observatory}
“I… I don’t… what the fuck…” the supervillain could barely articulate as he just processed how his Akuma had just made the hero spill the most emotional existential bomb he’s ever heard.
“Okay, how the fuck have I never managed to Akumatize this kid yet?!”
{Mansion}
“...Dude, are you okay?” Revelation managed to ask after a good minute.
Chat actually laughed at that as the compulsion came again. “Nope, I genuinely think I need therapy.”
DARLING PLEASE GET THERAPY

Okay, so, the Miraculous. I'm going to start by saying, in a vaccuum, I think all of the miraculous powers and ideas are good and have the potential for a lot of really interesting storytelling. I don't blame anyone for liking any of them or thinking they're cool, because they are!
The issue for me arises over the fact that, when you put them all together as a set of items in the same universe, there's a lot of power overlaps and some major power scaling issues (as more avid fans than myself have pointed out), and some powers that I personally don't find very engaging from a storytelling perspective. And instead of struggling to make it all work, I have decided to make the very cool and attractive call of "None of what I'm doing with this AU is canon anyway, I'm reworking this into a system that I, personally, will have more fun with." Some stuff I'm leaving exactly the same, some I'm tweaking, some I'm just doing something entirely new with. I won't claim my own choices are perfectly balanced either, this is just what I feel like would be a good set of powers to work with both individually and in context with each other. All that said, here's what the Miraculous are and how they work in my settings:
Ladybug – Creation (Lucky Charm) (you know how this works)
Black Cat –Destruction (Cataclysm) (you know how this works)
Butterfly – Emotion (Name unknown) (create an akuma/kamiko)
Peacock – Observation (Perceive) (perfect awareness of surroundings)
Fox – Illusion (Mirage) (creates an illusion)
Bee – Domination (Venom) (paralyzes target)
Turtle – Protection (Shell-ter) (force field to protect self and others)
Rabbit – Acceleration (Race) (super speed)
Dragon – Perfection (Triumph) (allows next action to be taken with 0% failure chance)
Tiger – Colourization (Camouflage) (invisibility)*
Ox – Determination (Deny) (impervious to attacks of all sorts)
Boar – Location (Root) (allows user to locate desired object/person)
Rooster – Presentation (Appear) (can change shape (once only when timer is in play, reverts to usual form when detransformed))
Goat – Disorientation (Confuse) (befuddles target in way specified by user (inhibit sense of balance, mess with a sense, brain fog, etc.)
Horse – Destination (Voyage) (portals)
Rat – Multiplication (Multitude) (duplicate self, with size determined by number of copies)
Monkey – Communication (Chatter) (telepathy, either reading minds or sending mental messages (an adult can do either, a kid has to pick one while activating ability))
Dog – Harmonization (Pack) (gives user and allies enhanced awareness of and ability to coordinate actions with each other)
Snake – Insinuation (Contort) (supernatural flexibility and ability to navigate tight environments)
*This idea borrowed from SailorChibi's Miraculous Hive series, which is my absolute favorite piece of ML fan content and very worth checking out if you haven't already!

Sailing with a deadly beauty

Luffy had sailed the seas by himself for a while before he met Koby, and then he headed to Shell Island where he met Zoro, who would be his right-hand man, and then he met you… His flower, as he called you. Luffy was enthralled with you. You were pure seduction and power. Even though Luffy didn’t understand what those words meant; he heard other people admire you with such praise and couldn’t help but agree. You were amazing in his eyes. Your body was perfect, even the marines marveled dumbstruck. People wolf whistled wherever you went. Walking with a slight sway in your hips with your shirt open and tucked into your belt; people couldn’t help but stare. You were a man who deserved to be carved in stone, preserved for all to see.
Zoro had locked eyes with you back at Shell Island while you fought marines who could hardly stand against you due to your ability to render their knees weak with indecent thoughts. And to have been fighting for his freedom with Luffy? To say Zoro was enraptured by you was an understatement. Controlling their bodies through their blood so they fell to their knees at your command, and he seemed glad to stay there. Glad to be under your thumb. Marines, Pirates, and villagers, it didn’t matter, you were beloved and beheld by all.
Then Sanji met you at the Baratie. To him, you were a deity, a god, a man with a woman’s beauty, and Sanji was no stranger to beauty, but you’re otherworldly. Something from beyond the Grand Line. He fell at your feet and was overjoyed when you gave him a smile. Your smile changed the trio forever. Nothing was ever as breathtaking. Luffy felt full like he had all the meat in the world and then some. He was glad to smile back at you unashamed. Zoro had pretended to be aloof about the moment, but you had his knees wanting to give out from under him. The way your body moved was mesmerizing to all three. After some time of sailing away from the Baratie you and Nami had decided to play dress up with her clothes, even though your arms and pecs were too big for many of her shirts, the one thing that did fit you was her bikini tops. When you walked into the kitchen of the Going Merry silence fell upon the three men as you laughed softly with Nami.
NSFW BELOW THE CUT
Tumblr media
It was then that Luffy realized he was hungry but for the first time not for meat. He was hungry for you, and so were Zoro and Sanji. This filled their bodies with fire. And it all started that night. Luffy had approached you first as the clueless boy he was. With wandering hands, he started to paw at your skin, sticking to you like wet clothes. Zoro had found you both pushed against the wall and growled but relented for his captain and smirked when Luffy bit down on your skin causing you to give a low growl. Luffy could feel it in his chest. He waved Zoro over to join you both with a giddy smile. Both men had their hands and lips on you. Zoro had his lips on your arms as Luffy bit into your neck, not hard enough to break the skin but hard enough to elicit a verbal response from you. Zoro was about to steal your lips with a kiss when Sanji appeared to get you all for dinner, but he was met with the sight before him. Sanji was furious that they were ravaging you and kept you pressed against them and the wall with no room for Sanji, so he asked if you were ok and he was about to start yelling at Zoro when Luffy bit your neck again, causing you to growl back at him, but Luffy didn’t pay you any mind, just going back to sucking spots on your neck.
Sanji stopped and his insults got caught in his throat. You were enjoying this, and the look in your eyes said all he needed to know: you still wanted more. So, Sanji thought to himself he’d help these buffoons please you and God they all felt so good. They didn’t stop till your back was arched and you were sobbing for more, more, more…

I just feel like blurting stuff
So, another au by yours truly. Nath used to compete in pageants and won many of them
He first started competing when he was six, just for fun
He got his hair styled a bit, his mom found a few nice outfits, and they didn’t expect too much… But then Nath ended up winning, so his mom signed him up a second time since it seemed like he enjoyed himself. Plus, she’s putting that money towards school, so… Yeah
Alix is the only non family member who knows about the pageants and refuses to let him live it down. But in private since he doesn’t want everyone at school knowing
He keeps his life as a Pageant King under wraps by going about his school life as his “shy artist” self and then wowing the judges with his amazing talent on the piano, cello, violin, harp, flute, and acoustic guitar (Evillustrator confirmed Nathaniel is good at music)
By the time he turned ten, he’s already won forty five pageants
With his victories comes a few people under the guise of managers trying to mooch off of his success, but Aya keeps them at an arm’s length. The pageants are quite enough and she doesn’t want her son’s face plastered on every ad
There are a few photos in a couple of magazines, but that’s just to recap the pageant, any celebrities who attended, and announce the winner
To balance school work and practice, Aya’s sister, Laney, home schools him when it’s pageant season, and her brother, Lance, helps him practice for the talent portion
The teachers know about him competing in pageants and slip him a few high fives when he returns to school after winning
His secret nearly gets out a couple of times when the class questions him about his hairstyle and why he’s gone for a few days during the school year, but he’s got a few excuses prepared thanks to Alix
Marinette: Why does your hair look so nice?
Nathaniel: Oh, so the class introvert isn’t allowed to look presentable once in a while?
Nino: Since when are you so good at the piano?
Nathaniel: Well, maybe if you paid attention, you’d know I have skills besides drawing.
Now he’s fifteen, won 97 pageants, and is ready for number 98
Also, his classmates have had enough. They went to know what he’s been up to for the past few years, becuase he’s definitely not telling them any time soon
They’ve tried going to Alix, but she’s remained tight lipped and won’t give into bribery
Everything eventually comes to light when Adrien’s been selected as a celebrity judge for the Adolescent M. Paris Pageant
Adrien invites the class along, barring Alix since she’s out of town visiting family and had no idea what they’re doing. They’re just walking around and venue, meeting some of the competitors who all look nervous for some reason because of who’s here
Alya: Wait, who?
Competitor 1: Only the actual threat here! Have you all been living under a rock?!
Competitor 2: I hear he’s playing the cello for this one, and he got his suit custom made from Milan. There’s real diamonds on it!
Competitor 1: That’s nothing. I heard he went to a private dentist to have his teeth whitened so much that the shade of white can’t be found on any color swatches.
Competitor 3: And he got his lips tinted.
Kim: Can we have a name, or-
Competitor 3: No! We do not summon him! I’ll be damned if that little weasel steals my crown again! Where the hell is my bronzer?!
Now the Akuma Class is intrigued, just who is this threat that has every guy on edge? Before they can ask around for a name, the competitors are all called to the stage, so they take their seats
And there on the stage, they find Nathaniel in the lineup
At first, they think, “Oh, he wants to come out of his shell and compete. He couldn’t have picked a worse time. He won’t stand a chance against whoever everyone is so threatened by. We should comfort him when this is over.”
To their surprise, Nathaniel acts as if he’s been doing this for years, walking with perfect posture and speaking clearly during the Q&A portion
During the intermission, they head backstage to get some answers
Nathaniel: I don’t know, because it’s kind of embarrassing. I just do it so my mom can put the prize money toward school. And did it really take you guys ten years to figure it out?
Akuma Class: …
Nathaniel: Right. Now if you’ll excuse me, I gotta get my cello.
Chloé: Wait! You’re the threat?!
Nathaniel: If that’s what everyone’s been calling me, then yeah. Look, I’m on about ten minutes, so I suggest heading back to your seats.
He only amazes them even more when he plays Paint It Black on his beautiful red cello
They’re not even shocked when he wins. Of course, one or two people take pictures to send to a mass group text, so Nathaniel had something to look forward to at school
He’s mobbed by guys asking for his number, popular kids inviting him to sit with them at lunch, and girls asking who does his hair, but he’s having none of that
They wanted nothing to do with him until it turned out he’s been in magazines and looks attractive without his dark clothes, so he wants nothing to do with them
He gives a few practiced responses to his friends congratulating him on winning and turns down Adrien’s Gabriel’s offer to model for the brand, and Marinette’s offer to model some of her clothes for her website
In his words, “My body’s not for sale.”
That doesn’t stop a familiar limo from pulling up to him
Gabriel: M. Kurtzberg-
Nathaniel: I NEED AN ADULT!
Gabriel saw the pageant from the comfort of home as a scout for the winner, and is now trying to get Nathaniel to model for his brand. He’s got a better chance than Bob Roth, that’s for sure. At least Nathaniel makes eye contact with him
Anyway, guys are still trying to pick Nathaniel up, and it’s getting really annoying, so he hides out in the basement during lunch hour where he meets Marc Anciel and prepares for shallow compliments
He just offers him an apple
Nathaniel: You’re not gonna try to flirt with me?
Marc: Well, someone’s full of himself.
Nathaniel: What? No, it’s just, every time I turn a corner, some guy is asking me out with roses and talking about how hot I look just because I won a pageant.
Marc: That was you? Wow, you are… Not what I was expecting. I was expecting a better haircut and designer clothes.
Nathaniel: Hey!… Thanks for treating me like a human.
Marc: No problem. Congrats, I guess? What is this, your fifth win?
Nathaniel: Ninety-eighth.
Marc: … You like AO3?
Marc and Nathaniel start spending a lot of time together, which gets some people’s attention, and they suspect he’s a gold digger, but Nathaniel shuts that down quickly and calls certain people hypocrites
Marc even introduces him to his classmates who aren’t completely starstruck by a 98-time pageant winner. They ask a few questions, but he doesn’t mind answering
One time, Juleka invites Nathaniel to the Liberty, because according to her, Luka wants to see up close how good he is at the violin. It leads to a competition where Juleka swears she saw smoke rising because of how fast they were playing
Anyway, it’s not long before Marc and Nathaniel start dating after Marc gets him to safety from some guy who refused to take a hint when Nathaniel said no to a date with him
That’s it

Chapter 2: The First Akuma (3328 words)
Public school. That's why Adrien had snuck out of the mansion — he wanted to attend public school with his friend, Chloe Bourgeois.
Marinette stared across the long dining room table at him, a fork full of grated carrots halfway to her lips as she took in the surprise. Adrien was friends with Chloe? He wanted to spend more time with her? And he’d disobey his father for the chance to do that?
“You’re kidding, right?” Marinette’s question came unbidden, and disbelief etched itself on her face as she confronted the millionaire’s son.

“You’re kidding, right?”
Marinette’s question came unbidden, and disbelief etched itself on her face as she confronted the millionaire’s son.
Adrien flinched, twisting the end of his cloth napkin nervously. “I’m not kidding,” he said, voice barely above a whisper. “But could you please keep your voice down? I don’t want anyone else to hear this.”
Marinette blinked, but complied with Adrien’s wishes, dropping her voice down to a just-audible whisper.
“You want to leave private lessons behind so you can go attend public school with Chloe? Are we talking about the same person?”
Adrien flinched again, a tiny movement that most people wouldn’t catch. But Marinette had an eye for detail, as Nathalie had told her when she offered the apprenticeship.
“I’m sure that we must be; there’s only one Chloe Bourgeois that I know of in Paris. But why don’t you like her? Do you have something against her?”
“Do I have something against her?" Marinette asked in disbelief. “It’s more like she has something against me! She’s not just a bad classmate, Adrien, she’s a bully! She’s the scourge of every student whose parents don’t make as much money as hers do! I— part of why I was so thrilled when your father offered to let me attend classes here was because it meant I wouldn’t have to go to class with Chloe anymore!" Marinette exclaimed, licking her lips after her outburst as she peered at the shell-shocked boy across from her.
Adrien looked like he'd been hit by a train, his grass-green eyes open wide as he looked at Marinette in shock.
"I, I didn't know Chloe had made such an impression on her classmates," he said, offering Marinette a weak smile that quickly withered when her eyes narrowed and the corners of her mouth turned down.
"Chloe Bourgeois doesn't need any friends among her classmates," she spat out, clenching her hands into fists. "She's made that very clear to us over the years. Why did you really want to go to school with her?"
Looking more lost than the Santa Maria on its journey to Haiti, Adrien opened and closed his mouth a few times. He looked like a fish, Marinette thought in the back of her head. A very cute fish. Who might also be a bully!
Marinette pulled her face into a stern frown, silently demanding that Adrien give her a good answer.
Adrien sighed, looking down at his plate and shoving his food around with a fork.
"I... I guess I needed to get out of this house," he admitted, shoulders slumping out of the model-perfect posture they were usually kept in. "Father and Nathalie do the best they can, but between my schedule and how few people I really know outside of work and my father's associates, I've started to feel trapped in the mansion. It hasn't been the same without Maman here. And Chloe was able to sign me up for classes using her father's influence, so... this was my first real chance to do something that I wanted to do, maybe to make some new friends on my own. But I should've known the plan would fall apart," he laughed, the sound of it bitter. "Père would never let me attend public school."
Marinette studied Adrien carefully, pity creeping into her eyes as she considered the model being trapped in this fractured household. "It's really not about being with Chloe, then?"
Swallowing, Adrien nodded at Marinette, realized what he'd done, and quickly shook his head, strands of blond hair falling into his eyes.
Marinette sat back heavily in her seat. "Huh," she said, bewildered. "You're the first person I've ever met who's honestly wanted to go to public school, then. Most kids are more likely to stay in their house and skip school rather than leave home to attend classes."
Smiling hesitantly, Adrien shrugged, bringing one shoulder up in a guarded gesture. "Well, I've always been interested in learning," he said. "I'd just like to be able to choose how I go about doing it. And public school seems like a lot more fun than taking lessons by myself in the mansion. Not that I don't appreciate you being here with me! But Chloe and I made this plan before Père discovered you and took you under his wing. It would be rude of me to back out now, before I even tried to get out of the mansion. But I promise," he said, licking his lips and taking a shaky breath in before lifting his gaze to meet Marinette's, "I won't try it again if you don't want me to. After all, I'd just be leaving you in the same situation I was trying to escape."
Adrien looked at Marinette shyly, like he was waiting for something.
If you don't want me to repeated itself in Marinette's head. She shifted in her chair, unsure of how to respond to that.
"W-well, I don't want you to be unhappy," she said, toying with the edge of her napkin. "I liked having lessons with you yesterday, though. Maybe you should give it some time? And then, you and I can come up with a better plan to get you into public school. You know, your bodyguard-chauffeur seems like he might on our side; he was pretty sympathetic when he brought you home! He could convince Mons- your father for us."
Adrien tilted his head consideringly. "I don't think anyone's ever successfully convinced my father of anything before, except for Maman," he said. "But it's true, class was much more bearable with you there. With you here, I think things will be better, even if I can never convince Père to let me go to François Dupont."
Marinette smiled, and then frowned, scrunching up her face. "Hey, have a little more faith in yourself! You're his son; that's got to count for something. Every father wants the best for his kids. I'm sure all you have to do is make him see that you're unhappy like this, and he'll do whatever he needs to to make you happier. Which in this case would mean letting you go to public school! And if your courage gives out, and you want to just sneak out again? I'll support you," she said, looking earnestly at the soft-hearted boy in front of her. "You're strong and confident, Adrien; anyone who comes near you can see that. If you haven't found that out for yourself yet, I'm sure you will soon."
Adrien stared at her, an awed expression covering his face. "You really think so?" he asked softly.
Marinette nodded firmly. She didn't know much about Adrien Agreste, but if he thought he could handle public school, he should be able to handle one overprotective father.
"I really do," she said.
"Wow," Adrien breathed. "Thank you so much, Marinette! That means a lot to me."
He smiled shyly at her, a pink flush staining his cheeks, and Marinette gawked at how cute he managed to look. Models really are handsome, she thought absent-mindedly, and pinched herself to stop the thought before it could go any further.
"Po noblem! I mean no problem, Adrien! Classes are much funner with classmates this sweet," she said, and froze as a blush of her own crept up from her neck.
Adrien giggled. "I think you're sweet, too, Marinette," he said. "I'm looking forward to getting to know you better."
Marinette smiled, glad that he hadn't minded her slip of the tongue.
"Me too," she breathed, and then a loud alarm sounded from Adrien's phone. "Huh?"
He pulled his phone out, turning the screen on to see an official message from the city's emergency alert system.
"Warning: Stone golem spotted by François Dupont collège?" Adrien read from the screen. Marinette got up from the table and walked over behind Adrien's chair, cursing herself for forgetting her phone in the study room.
"More information to come, for now all citizens advised to stay indoors," she read from over Adrien's shoulder. "Does this mean classes are canceled?"
Adrien scoffed. "I doubt it. We're already inside, and since Nathalie is already here, she can cover the material that the other tutors would have. She's always prepared."
Marinette nodded consideringly. "Well, that's good," she said. "Don't you think it's weird, though? A stone golem sighting; are they sure that it's real? Do they mean someone made a giant robot and now it's on a rampage? That sounds more believable."
Adrien frowned, pressing a button on his phone. "I don't think so," he said, tilting the screen so Marinette could see. "I just did a search online for the golem, and look — amateur footage of the scene! It's really a live golem," he said in awe, as the golem picked up a car and threw it at a group of police officers. They immediately scattered, and Marinette winced.
"That looks terrifying," she said. "I'm lucky that I'm not out in the middle of the fight! I might have been, if I still went to François Dupont."
"Yeah, that wouldn't be good," Adrien said. Then he pushed himself back from the table and stood up beside Marinette. "I'm going to head up to my room; I'll watch more of the fight on my tv until lunch break is over — it's a much bigger screen than this! Do you want to come up with me?"
Marinette gulped. "No, thanks," she said. "I guess stone golems make me a little uncomfortable. Maybe after I finish eating, I'll have more courage. Although, I hope the fight is over by then!"
On screen, Officer Raincomprix went flying, landing hard on his right arm. A tinny crack sounded through the phone, and Marinette stared in horror.
"Maybe not," she said with a disbelieving laugh.
Adrien frowned and shoved the phone back in his pocket.
"Okay then, I'm not very hungry, so I'll see you after lunch! Feel free to come up to my room if you change your mind. It's got a very nice sofa to share," he said with a winning smile.
Marinette shyly smiled back. "I'll think about it," she said.
Adrien waved and went off to his room. Marinette walked back around the table and settled down in her chair, wondering how the police force could ever fight off an invincible stone being. Had the golem gotten bigger when they shot at it, or was it just a trick of the camera?
Eating her food as calmly as she could, Marinette tried to think of other things to take her mind off it. The golem hadn't left the area near her old school, which was good. With any luck, it would stay away from the mansion.
Marinette finished the last bite of carrots and moved on to dessert, a cherry macaron her parents had packed for her. Savoring the explosion of flavor in her mouth, Marinette closed her eyes and tried to let the love in the food soothe her thundering heart. The stone golem wouldn't be around for long. Soon, the police force would figure out how to defeat it, and everything would go back to normal.
Except now, Marinette and the rest of Paris knew that stone golems could randomly pop into existence.
Not a helpful thought, Marinette told herself. Try thinking about flowers. Buttercups. Daisies. Roses and tiger lilies and—"
Opening her blue eyes, Marinette grudgingly accepted that she'd only feel better once she watched the police force defeating the golem. Maybe she should try to find where Adrien's room was.
Then again, she'd hate to open the wrong door. What if she accidentally found M. Agreste's room instead?
She could just imagine how that would go. "Sorry, Monsieur Agreste," she'd say, mortified, as she hurriedly shut the door again.
But M. Agreste would have noticed the intrusion, and he wouldn't be happy about it.
"Marinette Dupain-Cheng," he'd say in his chilling monotone voice. "It's impolite to open doors without knocking. Such rudeness won't be permitted in my apprentices. I'm taking back my offer — you'll have to go back to attending class at public school, like the idiotic moron Chloe was right to call you. You'll be blacklisted from every fashion house in Paris — in the whole world! You'll never—"
Marinette shook her head to clear thought-Gabriel out. So she didn't know where Adrien's room was! She just wouldn't go looking for it, then. Problem solved.
Marinette glanced at the clock. Still thirty minutes left of lunch break. She might as well watch the livestream on her phone, then. Marinette hoped the battle was going better than it had before.
Hopping out of her seat, Marinette crept back into the adjacent room she and Adrien used for their studies. It used to be a sunroom, and the bright atmosphere was good for studying in, so now it served as a schoolroom of sorts.
Retrieving her phone from the oak table that served as her desk, Marinette turned the screen on and sat down in the chair.
Doing a quick search online, she easily found what she was looking for. Live footage from one Alya Cesaire, featuring a stone golem, helpful narration, and— a boy in a black-spotted, yellow-orange suit?
Marinette did a double take, rubbing her eyes and peering closer at the screen.
Yes, there was the same boy in the black-spotted suit, domino mask and all.
A girl in a dark grey catsuit with thin green stripes joined him on the screen, launching an offensive attack against the golem, who was standing in a familiar football stadium now.
The golem, whose name was Stoneheart, Alya said excitedly, caught the catgirl's baton and flung her offscreen. Alya followed her flightpath to the goal at the far end of the stadium.
"Oof," Marinette and Alya said in tandem.
"That's gotta hurt, but look! This girl is getting right back up! I bet her suit is giving her superpowers," Alya squealed on the phone. "It's so cool! I've always wanted to see superheroes in real life," she gushed.
Marinette gaped at the screen. Wanting to see superheroes was nice, but couldn't this Alya girl knock that off her bucket list without turning herself into a casualty? Surely the golem would attack her, too!
As if on cue, the boy in the yellow suit landed in front of the screen, motioning for Alya to move back.
"I don't mean to sound stony-hearted, but you should really consider heading to shelter if you don't want to get hurt, citizen! Chat Grise and I are doing the best we can, but that's no good if people like you end up getting hurt!"
The bug-man threw a yo-yo out over the stadium, latching onto the golem and pulling hard. Knocked off balance, Stoneheart let go of Chat Grise, who'd wound up in his grasp sometime during Bug-boy's warning.
"Woah," Alya commented as the camera seemed to zoom out. Good, she's taking that boy's advice, Marinette thought with relief. She'd hate for anyone to be hurt. One police officer was already too much!
Tossing his yo-yo straight up in the air, the bug-boy called out, "Lucky charm!"
A yellow and black-spotted wetsuit fell into his hands.
"Huh," Marinette said in puzzlement, and the bug-boy held the suit out, looking at it in similar confusion.
But Alya seemed to know what was going on. "Ohhh! I bet it's a special tool to help the heroes win the battle!" she exclaimed gleefully. "I wonder how he's going to use it!"
At the far end of the stadium, Chat Grise put one hand down on the ground, and a gaping hole spread under Stoneheart. He tripped and fell in, grabbing Chat Grise, who was standing on the edge of the hole, as he went.
Suddenly, the yellow-suited boy was in front of the screen again, zipping past with the wetsuit. Alya panned over to reveal him attaching it to the water hose nearby. He looked past the camera, at Alya.
"At my signal, turn it on," he said, and grabbing the suit, he ran back across the stadium, the hose stretching out behind him as he launched himself at the golem.
"Hey, Stoneheart!" he called. "Be a good spotter and catch me, 'kay?"
Opening his right fist for the first time since Marinette had started watching the battle, Stoneheart caught the bug-boy in it.
Immediately, the boy squirmed around to face Alya. "Now!" he cried.
The camera shook as Alya rushed over to turn on the water, which rushed into the wetsuit and inflated it, allowing Bug-boy to jump out of the golem's grasp and run over to the ball that had fallen out of his fist.
The bug-boy stomped on the ball, which gave easily, releasing a freaky-looking purple butterfly from inside of it.
"What?!" Marinette shrieked. Butterflies don't come from solid objects!
Then again, before today, she hadn't thought golems were real.
Throwing his yo-yo at the butterfly, Bug-boy trapped it inside, yet another thing that should not be able to happen.
"Gotcha!" he cried in triumph. "Time for you to stop bugging me!"
Marinette groaned at the bad pun. She was glad he'd just saved all of Paris, but could he do it with a bit more serious of an attitude?
Behind Bug-boy, the golem melted away to reveal a very familiar face.
"Ivan?" Marinette and Alya gasped.
"He was in my class last year," Marinette said at the same time as Alya remarked, "That boy's in my class! It was our first day of school today!"
Bug-boy released the butterfly, which was now pure white, and picked up the wetsuit from the ground where it lay.
"Miraculous Golden Bug!" he shouted, and a stream of ladybugs flew around the scene. Wherever they went, the damage was undone, leaving the stadium as good as it had been before the attack.
"Miraculous Golden Bug," Alya muttered. "I wonder if that's his name. Hang on, viewers, I'm heading over to get the scoop!"
She jogged over the stadium to Golden Bug and Chat Grise, who were sharing a celebratory fist bump and smiling jubilantly at each other.
"Chat Grise! Golden Bug— it is Golden Bug, right?"
At Golden Bug's confirming nod, she continued to pepper him with questions.
"Where did that butterfly come from? How did it turn Ivan into a stone giant? Are you two partners? Do you know if there will be any more monsters in Paris? Should we all avoid butterflies? Are they all dangerous, or just purple ones? What does your suit represent?"
A shrill alarm sounded, and Golden Bug touched his ears while Chat Grise touched a ring on her right hand.
"Er, yes, the butterfly turned Ivan into a golem. No, it wasn't his fault. No, we don't know if there will be any more monsters, but yes, we are partners. No further questions, please! Time for us to bug out!" Golden Bug answered quickly.
Chat Grise nodded silently while standing beside him, looking slightly uncomfortable with the camera's attention.
"It was nice meeting you! Stay positive!" Golden Bug offered the camera a wink and saucy salute.
The two heroes dashed off, Chat Grise vaulting away on her pole and Golden Bug swinging off on his yo-yo.
Alya wrapped up the livestream, and Marinette listened numbly, unable to process much of anything.
There are monsters in Paris now, she thought as Ms. Sancoeur opened the door to the study room with the afternoon schedule in one hand.
Marinette's life had just turned upside down.

I absolutely love the idea of Adrien Agreste and Chat Noir being two different people who just happen to be friends. Could you imagine the shenanigans?
Here’s a sweet child who has trouble standing up for himself and wants nothing more than to make his father proud. Would never hurt anyone unprovoked. Gentle, intelligent, and perfect by all accounts and the most talented individual you’ll ever meet.
Then there’s this absolute mess of a person who does what he wants when he wants because he acts before he thinks. He’s not quite stupid but also not the smartest individual. He’s reckless and self-destructive and would put so many people before himself it’s a bit worrying.
And somehow, despite all their opposing features, they are the best of friends. Chat pulls Adrien out of his shell and comes up with crazy plans for how to get friends while Adrien overthinks consequences for the both of them. Adrien becomes rebellious because Chat helps him out, and Chat starts taking care of himself more because he doesn’t want Adrien to worry.
How did they meet? If you ask Chat, he was helping Adrien get away from a terrible and horrifying monster. If you ask Adrien, he found Chat sneezing in a hotel bathroom during the first Mr. Pigeon attack and took it as his chance to get a break from Chloe. Same thing anyway. Adrien had found a feather stuck to Chat’s suit and started sneezing before he could pluck it off the hero. They bonded through their violent allergies and choking laughs.
Of course, Ladybug doesn’t approve. She says it’s because it’s dangerous for a civilian and a hero to have a known friendship, but it’s really because she’s jealous that Chat’s getting so much of Adrien’s time. Doesn’t stop Chat from dragging Adrien out of his room at inopportune times, subsequently getting him stuck in the middle of an akuma attack, or Adrien from excitedly waving down his friend whenever he sees the hero hopping across the rooftops of Paris.
Now when it’s revealed that they have a crush on the same girl…

Oh, since we know all the power of the zodiac miraculous, do you have any powers you're disappointed with?
Hm, lemme go through them:
Mouse - I like it enough, though I wonder how often such a power would be useful. But these guys made Lucky Charm work and on paper that's not a very useful power either so could just be my limited creativity.
Ox - I wish the power was what the commentator said it was (making him impervious to the akumas powers) rather than what it actually did (repel the akuma when it got too close). I could think of more uses and would make him less of a mobile Turtle clone. (Also I don't know what the Ox's weapon is, does he have one..?)
Tiger - A lot of fandom ideas included invisibility due to real tiger's ability to camouflage and it would've been cool to see, but hey. I like One Punch Man too. Less the powers, I'm more put off by the "make the introvert character come out of her shell by YELLING" stuff that they tried to pull.
Rabbit - I don't like it, it's a Leveled Up Snake and killed all stakes. Also when Bunnix shows up it's never with good news so now it has a negative association.
Dragon - Super cool. Kind of hax that it can use three powers without starting a count down, so maybe it could've been limited to You Can Choose One per Transformation, since that's nearly how they use it anyway, just to balance it with the other kids.
Snake - I like it. The time limit gives it a good balance and I can see it testing the user to become a good strategist, choosing the right time to use it.
Horse - Makes sense and I like it. I also appreciate that the show actually recognizes how useful this is given how many times Kaalki has saved the day herself and that Ladybug has unified with it too.
Goat - The more I think about it the more I don't care for it. It's a poor man's Evillustrator and we have no idea the scale - can it make the giant flying boxing gloves that Evillustrator made? A whole barge? it made a magic wand but couldn't give it any power, so probably not. It's Lucky Charm with the addition of choice. It's not the first time an akuma's version of the power is better, but it feels a lot like the power was made for Nathaniel first and the Goat second.
Monkey - Everything about the monkey is perfect, you can't change my mind.
Rooster - I...someone on twitter needs to find out for me what the heck the Rooster's limitations are, because as it stands, this is the most OP power ever. Give yourself any power you choose? How about the power to Always Win? The power to Know Where the Enemy Is? The power to Teleport Stolen Miraculouses back into my hand? There has to be a limit that we just don't know about, there HAS to be something to balance this out!
Dog - It's cute. I don't see it being a big game changer but could be useful.
Pig - Very situation specific. I was glad in Kuro Neko to see a glimpse of how it could be used in battle, though I'd like to see if it works against someone besides a baby. Would Gift calm down, say, Mr. Pigeon? Befana? Timebreaker? I'd like to see her take down "tougher" opponents.

Ghost Brother AU Pt 3
Part 1 Part 2 A Half-Hearted Second Chance Kaitou LeBlanc
(Hey, guys, rent’s coming up and I’m seriously short on cash, so if you enjoy this series, or any of my others, could you buy me a coffee? There are also open commissions available, details on my page).
After Sandboy is Hero’s day, so you know what that means--Danny gets a chance to kick butt. When Marinette goes to recruit Rena Rogue, Queen Bee, and Carapace, she also picks up the Tiger to give to Danny.
(And I’m ignoring the recent canon with this, so my Tiger still has the power of invisibility and represents the concepts of secrets :P )
So Kaitou is out there, fighting the good fight. He manages to get to the top of the Eiffel Tower, leaving his teammates behind, to one on one Hawkmoth. The fight only lasts a minute when Kaitou notices Ladybug being swarmed by akumas and darts down to help.
Even when they lose the other temp heroes, Kaitou is still in the game, marking him as the most skilled of the temporary heroes. Even with his help though, there’s no way to anticipate the peacock miraculous and Hawkmoth is still able to get away.
Becoming a hero against inspires a change in Danny. He grows more confident, more active; where before he was content to stay in the bakery all day working with his parents, he’s now willing to go out more and be a teenager.
I’ve said before that I headcanon Danny as 1/4th Japanese, so he starts taking classes to relearn the language his grandmother taught him as a child. There he meets Kagami, who is learning Advanced French from the same teacher. (Her mom is a perfectionist who insists she keeps attending even after she reaches competence)
Kagami bluntly states his pronunciation is terrible and Danny deliberately makes it worse to shake a laugh out of her.
I think Danny would be a really good friend to Kagami. He’d help get her out of her shell and loosen up a little. Meanwhile, Kagami is like “He has older brother vibes, I’m going to teach him to stab”, so he’s bullied into joining her fencing class.
The teacher doesn’t even notice.
(Tom, who has perfected the art of having Big Dad Energy, has been teaching his son how to project his Big Brother Energy to massive success. They have training sessions in the bakery where they encourage everyone they see and try out dumb dad jokes/puns. Sabine laughs every time she sees them).
I’m not sure who Danny’s love interest is yet. If you have a suggestion, leave it in the replies and state why.
Timeline says the Shanghai special happens after Heroes Day, and I’ve never watched it so rough fixes:
Danny and Marinette go to Shanghai with their parents (not sure how Danny gets there; I assume at this point they’ve figured out how to get him a fake ID) because they are good children who care about their Great Uncle, NOT because Marinette wants to follow Adrien to another continent.
I think it would be funny if Danny just... does not notice any of the supernatural superheroing going on. Like, Sabine has a massive family who have all come to celebrate Great Uncle Cheng’s birthday, so there’s sixty people milling around distracting him. It doesn’t help that this is the first time many of them are meeting Tom and Sabine’s new son. Everyone loves him and wants to talk to him.
“He’s such a handsome boy, but so skinny!” his Popo says. “Are you sure you’re feeding him enough?” “Mom,” Sabine complains, “stop talking about him when he can’t understand you.”
He and Tom stick right next to Sabine the entire time since they’ve only had a crash course in Cantonese and Mandarin and they need her for translating. Danny assumes Marinette is off hanging out with her cousin or something.
He’s relieved to return home. Unfortunately, that relief doesn’t last very long.
Remember how I said Danny took French as a high school elective? Well, Casper High has a tradition of their French class taking a week study aboard in Paris at the end of their senior year. And there’s a red huntress who is really going to love seeing Danny again...
Bonus round! Every minor change to Miraculous canon that happened because Danny is there. In order:
Evillustrator: Danny doesn’t let Marinette go out on a date with an akuma with only Chat Noir as back up, so he tags along and rescues them from the boat, only to be ditched by Marinette when she needs to transform.
Timebreaker: Marinette doesn’t have to hurry back to the bakery because Danny is there, ready with the cake. Instead, Chloe purposefully makes Marinette drop the watch and Alix blames everyone.
Bubbler: The first time in years Danny seriously considers outing his identity. He doesn’t count as an adult, so he’s not sky-bound, but he hovers around his parents, invisible, until the Miraculous Ladybug. If Ladybug had been any later, he would have revealed his powers to Tom and Sabine.
Darkblade: Sabrina doesn’t make it past the entrance of their home. Danny knows what his sister’s bullies look like and he keeps her out.
Kung Food: Instead of Marinette not being able to speak Mandarin, being nervous, and needing Adrien to help her, its this: Danny is the nervous one, since he can’t speak Mandarin and he’s never met any of his parents’ family before. Marinette, who is fluent because her mother taught her as a child, gets to be the calming presence for once and helps him get to know his new Great Uncle. Uncle Cheng is thrilled to meet Danny.
Troublemaker: Danny spends the day outside the bakery, terrified of being on TV in case Vlad finds him through an obscure French TV show.
Befena: Gina doesn’t realize Danny is Tom and Sabine’s son, she thinks he’s just some boy they hired to help in the bakery. When she finds out, she’s nearly akumatized again. Apparently, Tom sent her an email telling her about their new son, but she never read it.
Syren: It’s only through Danny’s quick thinking that his parents didn’t drown like so many of Paris. He had nightmares for weeks afterwards.

I did spend some more time thinking about it, and here is a more full or definitive list of akumas and miraculous mix:
Stoneheart and turtle. A nice throwback to origins and technically unstoppable since he could use the shell like Kouki to protect his Akuma and do more powerful punches.
Dark Owl and snake/monkey. Any of the two would be good, but I'd prefer monkey. Very intelligent, lots of gadgets and a way to stop powers. Would let LB and CN use their intelligence without lucky charms.
Lady Wifi and pig. Just stream the gift to every screen and done.
Risk and turtle/ox. Both are nice, letting your opponent overthink everything while you yourself are impenetrable.
Copycat and snake. Snakenoir. And a bunch of tries to swap places with the real chat and take the miraculous.
Vanisher and rabbit. While unlikely since the Akuma connection would probably be lost trough time, if it somehow worked outz it would be nearly impossible to find an invisible time traveler.
Safari and bee/dog. Paralysing shots that never miss and a hand to hand defense just in case. Or, shots that if hit are capable of sending your miraculous diretcly back to the Akuma. Either way deadly.
Startrain and horse. Doesn't need the horse to travel, but could use it to make a kinda infinity train, each door to a new place with difficulties and robots that she can create, making it harder to get to the conductor room.
Sapotis and tiger. The most powerful duplication Akuma and the most powerful power second to cataclysm.
Horrificator and mouse. Multiplies and gets smaller. People are scared of small things, gets bigger. People are scared of you somehow getting bigger, gets bigger. People are afraid of giant monster, gets bigger. Repeat. Plus could trap multiple places at the same time.
Qilin and dragon. One of the most powerful elemental controllers, now able to control fire and water too.
Furios Fu, as many as possible. A nice throwback to him being the guardian, and with his intelligence, sigils and now being able to use any power, would be almost unstoppable.
Miraculized and rooster. An perfect finale if you think about it. Millions/billions of people, each with a different superpower to fight. And could be a nice reference to old akumas, like the power to be invisible, giant, create ice, multiply, make nightmares alive, etc.
OKAY BUT STARTRAIN + HORSE IS FASCINATING

Truth Fix-It?
Don’t mind me. Just a little addition to the latest travesty the writing team has thrown at us...
“If I’m a dad, I should act like one!” Jagged had decided.
As such, first order of business was to get to know his kid, so Jagged finally had a heart to heart talk with his son. Which seemed to be going...awkwardly for the most part. Okay, but awkward.
Then came the reveal that Luka and Marinette had been dating, which he was ecstatic about! The girl was awesome and she and Luka would be perfect together!
...then Luka talked about their recent breakup.
Marinette had been leaving at random times, forgetting things, missing out on dates, and seemed to be keeping a secret of some sort that was hurting her. A secret which, if her friends were to be believed, was likely her crush on someone else.
He didn't believe it. Couldn't believe it. Okay, so he knew the girl had a crush on that blondie she had pictures of, but really! What did he have that his kid didn't?! He was a model! They were lame! And he was an Agreste on top of that, which just made it worse!
He took it upon himself to go and ask her that very question, getting her parents' permission to enter and then barging into her room without preamble to confront her.
"Mari! What's this about breaking up with Luka?!"
The answer came in the form of a multitude of little floating creatures that stared at him in shock at his sudden arrival.
He stared.
They stared back.
Silence.
Then finally...
"Oops?"
He actually fell back in shock.
"What the blazes?!" He shouted because...well, what else could he do? What were these things? Was this an akuma? Was Marinette akumatized?
"Please don't scream." One of the little...things asked, clutching its ears. It looked like a mouse?
"Don't be alarmed." Said a red one with horns. "We are Kwamis under the watch of the Guardian."
"Don't tell him what we are! He is an intruder!" Exclaimed a yellow one.
A brown one glared at him. "I could send him into the sun."
"Yes, and half of Paris with him." Said a green one with a tail...a snake?
"I do not believe Marinette would approve of murder. Especially of someone who appears to know her." Stated another green one with a shell.
Jagged stared as he tried to back away and maybe hide behind something.
"What...are all of you?"
What were these things? What were they doing in Marinette's room? They didn't seem violent...threats to his life aside. They at least hadn't done it yet. And...
...wait....Guardian?
...Marinette?
Were...these her secret? Was this why she broke up with Luka?
While the...things argued amongst themselves, Jagged slowly slinked out of the room...
...then started running.
_______________________
"Jagged? Is everything okay?"
"Yeah. Sure. Everything's fine. Just....one question..."
"What is it?"
"Has Marinette...um...always had little flying animals that hang out in her room?"
"What?"
"Is that a new thing you kids are in to now?"
"Back up, what?"
"Quamis? Like...big headed animals? That float? And talk?"
“Kwamis?”
“Yeah! They called her a ‘Guardian’ and looked like different animals like a turtle and a bird and a snake and one wanted to send me to the sun and...Luka? Where are you going?”
Silence.
"...Luka?"
_______________________
It had been a tough akuma fight, but Ladybug had prevailed once more and made her way into her house through the open window.
She was victorious.
She was drained.
She was—
“Marinette.”
In so much trouble.
Luka sat at a table looking quite serious. In any other case, this would be bad enough, but he was surrounded by the free kwamis. The very nervous-looking kwamis.
I think we need to talk.”

In your Wish Me Away, what did Adrien expect regarding the wish? Bc you mentioned that he had to correct the "wrong" reality. Also does little Mari bake whenever there's a celebration like a birthday? If you don't mind, can I see some more shenanigans in Ivy's Sapling and Wish me Away? If it's alright for you.
Adrien expected his mother to come back, for their family to be complete once again and for basically things to be perfect with him going to school, him having his "perfect" complete family, and being in a relationship with Ladybug.
Then the Wish was made and his perfect reality was wrong and he has the determination to fix it but he has no idea where to start or how to start especially with his mother being as protective and suspicious as she was.
Mari does bake! It hurts at the beginning because it does remind her of her old parents but her new family all show her new recipes, their favorite recipes, and baking becomes a new favorite beautiful thing for her again.
Ivy's Sapling Shenanigans/Headcanons
• Ivy gave Mari the serum she gave Harley when she was a baby because she wanted her daughter to be as safe as possible, for if, IF, anyone found out about her and tried to hurt her using toxins, poisons, the like.
• Fascinatingly, despite Mari not being her birth daughter, she seems to have some sway and connection to and over the Green.
• When Marigold was 2 she kept saying strawberry over and over, when Ivy turned to see she saw, she actually saw her daughter GROW a strawberry plant full of ripe berries ready for picking. She was shocked needless to say.
• Mari was very smart, at two she knew so much already, so along with reviewing counting to ten and her abcs, Ivy had to work with Mari on her powers and seeing how much control over the Green she has.
• When Mari comes back to Gotham to move back in with her mom and Harley it takes a while for Marigold to open up to her mother about everything that happened in Paris. When she does, Harley and Ivy are ready to level the City of "Love"
• Ivy doesn't know how to feel about her daughter being some kind of Guardian to the kwami but she understands that her daughter seems to be the only one fit for the job and the only one willing to treat the kwami as "people" and not just creatures at her and other's disposal.
• When Ivy finds out Mari made a friend in Gotham she was ecstatic! Her little sapling was getting out of her shell and blossoming! And then she found out the friend was Damian Wayne and she didn't know how to feel.
• Marinette/Marigold does look a bit different than from Canon in this AU, her hair is naturally curly like Pamela's, it is still black with an "unnaturally" blue hue to it. Her eyes are more grey-blue than bluebell, but when she's transformed as Ladybug her eyes turn vibrant blue and her hair turns red like her mother's.
• Marinette only told her few friends she was leaving Paris so when it came out that she not only transferred but moved? Oh the akuma class blew up. They accused her of abandoning them while some were saying good riddance, it was a whole shebang.
• Bruce found out Damian's new friend was Marigold Isley-Chen and he honestly didn't know how to act, especially when Ivy told him what happened to her daughter in Paris. He had to talk her down from actually going to Paris and maybe making some more fertilizer for her dear plants.
• Mari loves gardening as much as she does fashion and is makes a lot of designs based off plants!
• Gabriel Agreste and Audrey Bourgeois both are pissed when the talented designer Marinette leaves Paris without a word. Audrey because she stayed in Paris with the hopes the girl would work with her since she hadn't wanted to move to NY, and Gabriel because he wanted to make her into an akuma and he saw potential in her skill as a designer so he is very mad at one muse, Lila Rossi for running the girl out of Paris.
• Marinette continues designing in Gotham while doing online school but she does change her label from MDC Designs to Xuiying Designs, she does notify all her clients but does ask they don't tell anyone that she is one and the same designer.
• Jagged does end up moving back home to Gotham when he learns that Mari moved, and when he learns what happened he is all for team revenge! He does take Luka and Juleka with him though as Anarka told all of them that he was their father, it was a shock to all and they all wanted to get to know each other. He didn't just pack up and leave Paris on a whim and just tag his children along, they all sat down and spoke about the situation for a long time before they all figured it would be best for Juleka and Luka to get away from Hawkmoth as a whole and Jagged was taking a break from touring and everything so it was perfect.

A Gift from Mr. Blanc
Marinette's worst nightmares were of Chat Blanc. But that's all they were: nightmares. Until one day where in the stone cold light of day, Chat Blanc walked into the classroom, with a gift in hand. "This will make you love me again, My Lady."
Ao3 | FF.net
Everyone is on this Chat Blanc train, so I bought a ticket and got a window seat.
--
“Yes, Timestreamer, find me the best Akuma ever created!” Shadowmoth raised a manic fist as the images appeared before him.
The woman who was once Nathalie Sancoeur stood next to him, now transformed into an Akuma with thick glasses, which almost looked like VR goggles.
In a fit of artist’s block, Gabriel Agreste had vented that he had run out of ideas for Akuma. He had to keep going, and the villains couldn’t slack less Ladybug and Chat Noir get the upper hand.
To which Nathalie had said, “well, you don’t need to reinvent the wheel.”
She had meant it to be cheeky, but he took inspiration from it in a whole new way. Why invent a new villain when one from a different time is sure to work? Timetagger, an Akuma from the future, had seemed to almost win. Perhaps there were more like him out there.
He only needed someone to see the timelines so he could pick his champion.
So here they were, scanning through endless time streams, looking at massive successes, and massive failures. There really was no telling which one would do the job, but unless Timestreamer’s Akuma was taken or, heaven forbid, the Butterfly was taken, they could send villain after villain after villain.
Yes, this was a good plan!
“That one!” Shadowmoth pointed, the stark white catching his gaze.
“That one?” Timestreamer asked, feeling unease looking into his soulless blue eyes.
“That has to be Chat Noir’s akumatized form. He’s perfect.”
Following orders, Timestreamer summoned the Akuma forward.
From the static images appeared a grainy figure, slowly solidifying into a solid white boy. His expression was one of confusion and disorientation.
“Chat Blanc, I am Shadowmoth,” he began.
Immediately, Chat Blanc snarled. “You! You monster!” And he leapt.
Suffice to say, neither Timestreamer or Shadowmoth were prepared for a full on fight this early in the conversation.
Shadowmoth did have training in fighting, and successfully blocked the incoming swipe at his throat with his arm. However, the claws cut right through his suit and into his flesh, making him cry out in pain.
The next swipe hit true, and knocked the butterfly Miraculous from its place on his collar.
Chat Blanc then plucked the Peacock from his lapel while Gabriel Agreste tried to put pressure on his grievous wounds.
“Why?” Asked Gabriel, “don’t you know I made you? Don’t you know I can give you everything you want?”
Chat Blanc didn’t respond, only snapped the goggles off of a shell shocked Timestreamer. He then touched the black butterfly with his claw, and it crumbled into dust.
Nathalie ran to Gabriel and looked at his wounds. “You need to go to a hospital.”
“No!” He protested, pushing her away. “Answer me, boy! You’re easily the most powerful Akuma ever made. Once you get the Miraculous of Ladybug and this timeline’s Chat Noir, we can make the ultimate wish! Whatever your heart’s desire, it’s yours!” He reached a hand out to the boy.
Chat Blanc, who Gabriel knew as the exuberant and emotional Chat Noir, just looked at him with a sharp, emotionless stare.
“You already took everything from me, Father. This is my one chance to get things back to where they are supposed to be.”
“Adrien?”
The gaze didn’t change, but he did raise an eyebrow. “In my timeline you knew. You knew, and you still hurt me. You hurt her. You turned me, and you forced me to kill. You left me alone in that world for months. Left me to mourn. Cursed me to this form—“ he snarled. “That can’t starve, that can’t sleep, that can’t thirst or drown—“ a tear fell down his cheek. “You left  me in a prison where I couldn’t die, and would continue to suffer because of your mistakes.” He gave a hint of a bitter smile. “Does that answer your question, old man?”
Maybe it was just the blood loss, but Gabriel felt some remorse. “I’m sorry, son. Give me back the Butterfly, and I’ll set you free.”
“Not a chance. Ladybug will fix me. And when I give her these, she’ll love me again. And I’ll have all the family I ever need.” With that, he summoned his baton to break through the window, and launched out into Paris.
Gabriel laid still on the ground, holding his chest with one hand while Nathalie gripped his wrist with the other.
“I…what am I going to do?”
“Well, you know Adrien has the ring—“
“No doubt Chat Blanc will tell him everything before we can get to him. I don’t think that’s an option anymore.”
“Then…what would you like to do?”
He spent a long time just breathing and thinking.
Choosing.
“I guess, apologize. And then hope that I haven’t done enough damage to lose the only family I have left.”
“Maybe, if he is Chat Noir, and you explain the truth to him…he’ll tell Ladybug. Maybe she’d help.”
“I doubt she’d do anything to help me, after all I’ve done.” He leaned back and stared at the ceiling. “I could just bleed out here. Save him the pain.”
“I won’t let you do that, Sir. As upset Adrien will be, he still loves you.”
“But for how long?”
“I think you should live and find out.”
Chat Blanc had never been so happy. He should be upset, angry, sobbing even, but he wasn’t.
He was getting his second chance. Paris was full, alive, teeming with traffic and swearing and smoking and everything foul that wasn’t there in his wastelands.
Hawkmoth was gone, and he was on his way to Marinette. With these, she had to love him, she just had to.
Francois DuPont never looked so pretty. The windows showed bored expressions of dozens of students.
Students that were alive and not submerged under water.
He dropped down in the courtyard, letting muscle memory take him up the stairs to his old classroom. The door was closed, but not locked.
Did he knock? Or did he just walk in? It had been so long…did he introduce himself? Did he apologize for interrupting?
He decided to forgo knocking, and pushed the door open on his own.
All eyes turned to look at him, but his attention was only on her.
Though he did get a glimpse of his own horrified face.
“Chat Noir?” The teacher asked.
“No.” He shook his head. “Not anymore.” He never stopped looking right at Marinette.
“I must be dreaming,” the girl in question said aloud. “I must have fallen asleep, and now I’m having a nightmare.” Tears were filling her eyes as her voice crumbled. “Please tell me you’re a nightmare, Chat.”
“No, My Lady. I’m real.” Did she know him from somewhere? Or was she just assuming he was an akumatized Chat Noir? “But this shouldn’t be a nightmare, Marinette.” His steps were slow and soft, trying not to spook her. “I’m your dream come true. Because it’s over now, and we can be together.”
She stood abruptly, smacking her knees on the desk and almost tumbling. “What are you talking about?”
He placed the Miraculous on the desk. “It’s over now. I won. Hawkmoth is no more, and there’s nothing that can hurt us. This will make you love me again!”
“Holy shit…” Said Alya.
Marinette just stared at them, and then at Chat. “How—?”
“He brought me here. Somehow, an Akuma I guess. He plucked me out of my time, and brought me here. This is my chance to start again, you know.” He grabbed her wrist. “Now our love won’t ruin the world! We can be happy again, My Lady! We can be happy and nothing will tear us apart!”
Adrien, who had up until very recently, by reveal of a certain nickname, thought that Marinette was only just Marinette, grabbed Chat Blanc and yanked him back, forcing him to let go of Marinette.
“Don’t touch her!” He snapped.
“And you—“ Chat Blanc grabbed him by the throat and lifted him into the air. “A little liar with too much self preservation! Why didn’t you act sooner?! Why couldn’t you save her?!”
Adrien clawed at the hand on his throat. “I don’t—know what the hell—you’re talking about!”
“Don’t play stupid, Adrien! It’s not going to work on me, and you know that!”
His voice was just a whisper now, as he attempted to meet Chat Blanc’s gaze. “Whatever, man. But you think outing her is smart? You think that’ll make her like you?”
Chat Blanc crushed harder, suffocating him. “It doesn’t matter with Hawkmoth out of the way! And once I kill you, there will be no competition! She’ll love me for sure!”
Marinette had stashed the Miraculous in her purse once Chat Blanc had turned his back. She was going to attempt to talk him down, but at his threat on Adrien’s life, she realized he was beyond talking.
“Tikki, Spots on!”
Chat Blanc whirled back around, only to get a fist to the face.
Adrien fell on the floor, gasping.
“Are you alright?” She asked, helping him up.
He rubbed his neck sheepishly as he nodded. He knew she was Marinette, but the mask still turned his legs to jelly.
“Why do you protect him, Ladybug? Don’t you know you can just be happy with me?”
Marinette pushed Adrien behind her. “I might be able to be happy with my Chat Noir, but never with you. I love Adrien, and I’ll fight to protect him, even if he doesn’t love me back.” Though it was a brave declaration, she still blushed.
“Ugh, don’t you get it? I am him!”
“What?”
“I’m Adrien! Adrien is Chat Noir! We’re supposed to be together! And we were! We were happy, Marinette! And then—and then you told me you didn’t love me anymore. You almost got akumatized over that…but I saved you.” He snarled. “But he kept us apart. My father knew who I was, and he turned me into this…”
“Wait,” Adrien rasped. “Father turned you into…an akuma?”
“Because he’s Hawkmoth, Adrien. He always has been. Mother is alive, in a coma, in the basement. And he never let you see her, because he doesn’t trust you.”
“Shut up!” Ladybug shouted.
“Even after he knew who I was, he still hit me. He beat me, Adrien, because he doesn’t love us!”
Adrien held a hand over his face, willing his sobs to stay silent.
“We’re just a pawn for him. But…I can make it better. Let me destroy you, and everything will stop hurting. I’ll take care of Marinette, I promise!”
“That’s enough!” Ladybug lashed out and snagged his bell, ripped it from his throat, and smashed it on the floor.
Then she caught the butterfly as it emerged, purified it, and let it go. But she didn’t call for a cure, not yet.
Chat Noir, sans bell, glanced around the room in confusion. “Ladybug? What’s going on? Why are we here? Where’s Hawkmoth?”
She met him with tear streaked cheeks. “You’re in the wrong timeline, Chat Noir.”
His eyes flicked to Adrien, who was clearly shell shocked. “That would make…some sense.”
“You were akumatized, and our Hawkmoth brought you here…probably to recruit you.”
“Did I hurt anyone?”
“You beat him. You beat Hawkmoth.”
“And you tried to take my place,” Adrien hissed, showing his bruised throat.
Chat Noir gripped his hair fiercely. “Oh crap! Oh crap crap crap! I’m so sorry! He’ll be all better once you do the cure, right Bug?”
“Yeah. Physically, at least…but you did say some things that will hurt for a long time.”
“I didn’t mean any of it! I was an Akuma, they lie and say all sorts of things—“
“You told me about Father. And mother.”
“Oh…” he sighed. “Unfortunately, that’s too fresh in my mind to be a lie. I saw mom. He wanted to use the Miraculous to bring her back, but he was so unwilling to listen to me, to even think about working with us—that’s how it happened. He got me.”
“I’m so sorry, Kitty.” Ladybug lamented. “I’m sorry you had to go through that.”
He shook his head. “It’s over now. If I defeated him, then you don’t have to be subjected to it,” he told Adrien. “I don’t mind taking one for the team.”
“Did you kill him?” Adrien asked.
“I don’t know.”
“Even if he did, casting cure would fix it.” Said Ladybug. “There might be hope for a happy ending.”
Chat Noir took her hand and kissed her knuckles. “My Lady, will you send me back? I have to see her again. My Marinette. I have to see her and make up with her.”
Ladybug patted his cheek fondly. “Knowing me, she probably still loves you. But something happened to make her put distance between you.”
“You’ll be happy together, right?” He asked, pouting.
Adrien slipped an arm around her waist and held her. “I think we’ll manage.”
Ladybug hugged Chat briefly. “Thank you. For all your trauma and suffering, you helped us.”
“You also revealed both of our identities to the class, but that’s the kind of mistake I would make as an Akuma…” Adrien winced.
Chat Noir looked at all the shocked and concerned faces around him. “Wow, look at all these comforting, understanding, and loyal friends you have. Where’s Lila?”
“Out sick today,” provided Sabrina.
“Perfect! Don’t ever ever tell her what happened here. She’s a liar and would tell our identities in a heartbeat for a chance for fame.”
“Not a problem, Kitty Cat,” said Alya, with a wink. “Some of us are pretty good secret keepers.”
“You knew!?” Adrien cried, with betrayal in his voice.
Alya winced. “Ah, yeah…”
“Adrien.” Ladybug took his face and held it with trembling hands. “My kitty, my partner, my best friend, what I’m about to tell you is going to suck and you’re going to hate it, and that’s why I haven’t told you.”
“I’ve already had a lot of bad news dropped on me today, lay it on me.”
She glanced at the rest of the class and then Chat Noir. “Let me send him home, and then we’ll talk in privacy.”
He nodded, not really fond of how much the class had already learned about him today.
Ladybug threw her yo-yo up in the air. “Miraculous Ladybug!”
In a wave of fluttering red, Chat Noir was gone, and so were the bruises on Adrien’s neck.
“Spots off.”
Now, the class started whispering. Up until that moment, shock held them in silence. After all, it's not everyday you find out your classmates are superheroes.
“Miss Bustier, are you okay if we leave for a while?”
The teacher stammered a second, unfreezing from her complete and total shock. “I think it would be a crime to make you stay here today.”
Marinette smiled gratefully, before taking Adrien’s hand and leading him out into the hall. He was silent, rightfully so, and Marinette could only be happy there was no chance of him getting akumatized.
Finally, they took a seat on a bench, and waited for the other to speak.
“I…didn’t think this was how our identities would be revealed,” he breathed.
“I always wanted to tell you.” Marinette insisted, “even though I said otherwise. Tikki and Master Fu were so adamant that I not tell a soul.”
“So why does Alya know?”
She rested a hand on his. “I’ll get to that. But first…Chat Blanc.”
Adrien sat attentive and quiet, holding his accusations for later.
“It started about three months ago, when I gave you that Beret.”
“Beret? The one from the Brazilian fan club?”
“Yeah…except it wasn’t. It was from me. Originally, I left it in your room, with my name on it. My real name. A little while after I left, Bunnix came to me, and explained that she needed my help. She took me into her burrow, and led me to the future…the future where you were akumatized.”
“As Chat Blanc.”
“Yes.”
“That same akuma, that same Chat Noir?”
“I assume so. The moon was destroyed, the city flooded. You were all alone, everyone was gone.”
“Where…where was that Ladybug?”
She hesitated to say it, but admitted, “I found her underwater…cataclysmed.”
“No…I wouldn’t have—“
“I know, Adrien. Chat Blanc was upset about it too. He cried. He wanted my Miraculous to make the wish and fix it.”
“Sounds like an Akuma alright,” he said bitterly.
“At the time, all I knew was that you knew my identity, and you said that our love destroyed the world. So…I assumed that you became akumatized by finding out who I was…and that the beret had something to do with it. So I erased my name.”
“Oh…but Chat Blanc said he was akumatized because of my parents.”
“I didn’t know that back then. I wish I had. As it stood, I was certain an identity reveal would end up with an Akuma.”
“I understand your reasoning…but what about Alya?”
She sighed, the guilt toiling around inside her. “That wasn’t…it was a spur of the moment thing. I was back into a corner and people were getting really worried about me. Worried and nosey…and so I told Alya. Rena Rouge.”
“Ah. I see.”
“I should have told you. I should have told you so you could have told someone. It’s not fair to think I was the only one that needed a confident.”
“If I had to pick someone that wasn’t you, it would have been Nino. So I get it. Really, I do.”
Tears welled up in her eyes regardless. He was hurting so badly, but what could she even do to help?
“I’m sorry.”
“You don’t have to apologize.”
“Yes! Yes I do! Adrien, you’re my partner. Yes, keeping secrets can keep us safe for a while, but eventually we’ll run out of trust and then we’ll be in danger again. I don’t want to lose you!”
He gave her a little smile. “I might be upset, but you aren’t going to lose me. I promise.”
She squeezed his hand. “No more secrets. We train as guardians together. I’ll tell you all the auxiliary heroes, and all the formulas and—“ she stopped, blushing.
“What?”
“Ugh…I have to tell you something, since I said no more secrets.”
“Is it bad?”
“…no?”
He turned his hand to squeeze her back. “Okay. Well then, let’s hear it.”
She looked away, too nervous to look at his face. “Gah! This is just as hard as it’s always been!”
“I’m not going to judge you.”
“I know! I know!”
Pretend this is just Chat. She goaded herself.
“I…I’m in…love with you?” She squeaked out. There. The deed was done. She shyly turned to look at him.
Wide, sparkling eyes full of tears, but a big smile on his face. “You mean it? You said as much to Chat Blanc, but I didn’t know for sure…”
“Ugh, right. That.” She nodded. “You were the boy I kept turning…well, you down for. I’m sorry…”
“I’m not!” He chirped. “Marinette, if anyone was going to have a crush on me as Adrien, I’m so glad it’s you. You really know me! You’re special to me, and I always considered you as a friend.”
She sighed, hearing the magic words. “As I’ve heard.”
He frowned. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
She blushed again. “It’s just…whenever we had a moment, or I tried to do something special for you, you always remind me that you feel…nothing for me.”
“Wait, what? That’s what you got out of that?”
“That you want me as a friend and just a friend?”
He actually laughed at her and pulled her into a hug. “Marinette, I thought you were nervous around me because you were uncomfortable. I said that stuff to let you know I treasured our friendship. I love you so so much, My Lady. I was deeply in love with Ladybug, and completely in denial with Marinette.”
“Can confirm!” Shouted Plagg from inside his jacket.
“So having you be the same? I’m…I’m so happy!” He hugged her tightly. “Today has thrown a lot of bad things at me, and I’m so worried about what comes next. But with you, I’m sure I’ll be okay.” He pulled away slightly. “You…will stay with me for whatever happens, right? I know Hawkmoth being my dad is kind of a deal breaker…”
Marinette wrapped her arms around his neck and leaned up into him, kissing him right on the mouth.
He stiffened briefly, before melting against her and pulling her tighter into the hug.
The kiss was perfect, not in execution or performance, but because of the love they felt. Adrien nipped at her lip, and Marinette hummed as she twined her fingers into his hair.
They pulled away begrudgingly.
“You and me against the world, right Kitty?”
“You know exactly what to say to make my heart swoon, my lady love.”
“I’m sorry I hurt you.”
“Kiss me and I’ll get over it.”
“I’m serious, Kitty.” She touched his cheek. “I knew it was going to hurt, and I foolishly and cowardly put it off, hoping it would go away.”
“Marinette, from what you said…it wasn’t just painful for me. It scared you, didn’t it? You said…when Chat Blanc appeared, that you thought you were having a nightmare. Do you dream of him?”
“Sometimes.”
“I’m so sorry.”
“It’s not your fault, Adrien.”
He considered his next move, and decided to scoop her up into his lap. “So, here’s my idea. If you have another nightmare about him, you call me, and I’ll be there in a jiffy.”
“And do what?”
“Hold you. Kiss you. Reassure you. Cuddle with you until you fall asleep. Whatever you need.”
She snuggled closer to him, resting her head on his shoulder. “I love you.”
“I love you too, bugaboo.”
Silence lapsed between for a while, as they just sat together, enjoying the warmth of their bodies, and the open air between them.
Marinette sighed. “We should probably go confront your father.”
“Yeah. We should…”
“Could…I offer you a reward if we go through with it?”
“What could possibly motivate me?”
“Once we’re done, and everything is put away…we can find a random, secluded rooftop and…make out for a while.”
Adrien stood, with Marinette still in his arms. “You know how to motivate a man.”
“I’ll be with you every step of the way. Just think about later.”
“One peck for the road?”
“One.”
Adrien held her tightly before dipping her and pressing a sinful, toe-curling kiss to her lips. When he finished a few minutes later, she breathlessly huffed, “that was not a peck.”
“No, but I need the strength.”
“Somehow, it’s a lot harder to stay mad at you. You can put me down now.”
“Nah. Plagg, Claws out!”
“Tikki, Spots on!”
The closer they got to the mansion, the faster Chat’s mood tanked. All the surface level happy feelings had bubbled away, and now he was filled with dread and apprehension.
“I…I don’t want to send my dad to jail,” he said, as they landed inside the walls.
“I know Kitty. I can do the talking.”
“You’re so good at it, Princess.”
She knocked twice, but didn’t wait for an answer before entering.
It didn’t matter. Gabriel and Nathalie were sitting in the lobby, waiting, as it appeared.
“Hello son,” said Gabriel, with not a trace of malice in his voice.
Chat halted, paling considerably. “You know?”
“Chat Blanc revealed as much. What did he tell you?”
“He said that…mom was still alive. You wanted the Miraculous to wake her up.”
“That’s right. But…” he sighed. “Can I humble myself and ask for your help, Ladybug? Can you look at her? Can you see if there’s any hope?”
“I would love to.”

Ivan closed the door to his room, then opened his pocket to let Wayzz free. They both knew that Wayzz could just phase through the pocket if he wanted to, but it was a mutual gesture of respect between them.
"I was watching the footage on LadyBugOut's archive," Wayzz said as he flew a small distance away, facing Ivan with a smile. "You did well."
"You think?" Ivan grinned and rubbed the back of his head, growing sheepish at the praise.
Wayzz nodded. "The want to protect others is our strong point. Have you done it before?"
Ivan shook his head, walking over to take a seat on his bed. "No, I never had superpowers until I got this."
"Not that," Wayzz said with a chuckle. He flew over to the little area Ivan had set up for him - a little crudely done but made with love all the same - then sat down and got comfortable. Spreading his arms out, he then explained, "Being a turtle means much more than protecting people. We protect hearts as well."
Ivan genuinely considered that. He supposed it made sense, as Ladybug could fix things emotionally with no use of Miraculous Ladybug needed. Likewise, Chat Noir—
...actually, that was best not thought about.
Shaking his head, he returned to the root of the topic, replying, "I guess Mylene says I'm good at cheering her up?"
"Yes, it's like that." Wayzz smiled approvingly. "We aren't limited to Shell-ter."
Ivan nodded, but frowned as he realized, "I don't know if I'm as good at it now when I'm busy being a hero."
He was referring to Mylene.
Wayzz smiled sadly, getting up and floating over to rest on Ivan's shoulder. "We can't be perfect everywhere," he said, lightly patting Ivan's neck in reassurance.
Ivan glanced over at him, but didn't respond. He'd been a hero for a while, but it still felt unreal to him. He stared down at the disguised bracelet, idly running his fingers along the thread around his wrist as he admitted, "But I still don't get why I got picked?"
It was more idle curiosity than outright self-consciousness. He didn't doubt his abilities, obviously, as he was aware that every hero had their strengths and weaknesses. Being part of the team, it was inevitable to start seeing the flaws of every team member, so he wasn't singling himself out. At the same time though, he couldn't help wondering what had made him special. He was the first ever akuma, and even in the movie he'd shot with the class, he was the monster, not Mylene's charming love interest. That wasn't to say he didn't have a presence, but people often considered it to be a bad one.
Even though his statement had been casual, Wayzz seemed to think about it like it was serious. Ivan leaned back on the bed, his hands on the mattress to support himself as he waited for an answer.
"...One thing about heroes," Wayzz began, "is that they're not always who you expect. I've had many turtles in my lifetime, and not all of them seemed fit for the role. They all got chosen for different reasons, because turtles aren't decided by their personality alone. There are always different things that have to be taken into consideration."
Ivan tilted his head to the side. "Really?"
Wayzz nodded. "Your impressive bulk wouldn't be as useful if the rest of your teammates were built in the same way. There have been small turtles who were fit for the job because of who they were fighting and the teammates they were meant to protect." Looking up at Ivan, he then added, "You do well at protecting others, and your features balance out the team."
Ivan understood, even though it was hard to imagine "other turtles" beyond Carapace, and the mental image made him unable to help asking, "What about the other one?"
Of course, he could've had no idea that Wayzz had another turtle that he had no knowledge of, but Wayzz was aware of it, so he focused on Carapace.
"The turtle then - really, all of the temporary heroes - were chosen for being at the right place at the right time. They did their job well enough, but it was a matter of convenience. They fit their miraculouses enough to do their job, and being chosen afterward was for their experience. They were never intended to be permanent."
"Oh." That made sense, Ivan supposed. It was like their costumes Marinette had made for the band's audition as Kitty Section; they'd served their purpose at the time of making an impression, but they'd never been meant for them to be their permanent ones, especially considering the time crunch.
"Are you happy?" Wayzz asked suddenly, like something had just occurred to him.
Ivan blinked, not understanding.
"With being a hero," Wayzz clarified. He flew off of Ivan's shoulder, descending upon the little box of tea that he always seemed so fond of. He ran his paw along the surface, not doing anything in particular, but seeming to reminisce. "We want our holders to be happy with themselves. We know it's not always fair to suddenly give someone a miraculous."
Ivan didn't have to think about it too hard. While it could be a little disappointing whenever he had to run off on Mylene or his other friends, he also knew that he was doing good work and was helping keep Paris safe.
"Yeah, I'm happy," he replied. Then, after a moment of thought, he asked in return, "What about you?"
Wayzz seemed surprised to be asked such a question. He looked down at the little tea box again, resting both paws on it, then smiled faintly. "I am. You're not like any of my other holders, but that's not a bad thing."
Ivan smiled back, then focused on the little box of tea that Wayzz was still hovering over. Ivan pushed himself off the bed, then hunched over, pointing to the box in question. "Do you want some?"
Wayzz looked up at him, then back down at the box. Ivan had been taught enough about tea - thanks to Wayzz himself - to know how to make it for him, so it wasn't an unusual thing for him to ask, but Wayzz had never actually used the tea in that particular box before.
"Oh," Wayzz finally said after a moment. "...Yes, I—I think I do." He glanced up at Ivan again, asking, "Would you like to join me?"
Ivan frowned in thought, almost feeling like he was intruding on something personal. He'd never had tea with Wayzz before. "Uh, okay, but I don't know how I'd want it."
"That's alright!" Wayzz said, perking up as he flew up to Ivan's face. "We can experiment with similar tea first. There are many different ways to flavor it, and with the right combination, I'm sure we can figure out what you like; sugar, honey, milk, there are a lot of options. You know, one of my previous holders—"
Wayzz floated happily towards the door, continuing to ramble, and Ivan smiled genuinely while carefully picking up the box of tea. He remembered how sad Wayzz used to be when they first met, but even though Wayzz still grew quiet at times, he was happy now.
They both were.
