I almost feel like a late bloomer, but eighteen, tbh. I only really entered "fandom" spaces in college and it spiraled from there.

9. In your xxx fic, what’s your favourite scene that you wrote?

My favorite part of let me wrap my teeth was definitely the Neuroscanner scene--it's like a character study from hell, poured through the darkest and most warped lens, and I loved the intertwined threads of violation, destruction, and sheer overstimulation as the scene progresses. I loved played with the glitch effect and the sense of shit steadily falling apart as time goes on, pushing everyone to the breaking point.

12. Who is your favourite character to write for? Why?

Depends on the fandom...for TMNT it's Leonardo, because I love his tortured leader aesthetic and the sheer amount of trauma he puts up with is really fun. For DC it's Damian, because I have a soft spot for angsty baby murderers trying to be better.

For Avatar I'd think recom Jake, because he's such a perfect Frankenstein's monster of hunger and cruelty and pain and power. With Spider being a close second, because I love this boy and I love fucking him up.

13. Who is your least favourite character to write for? Why?

Hmmm...well, if I don't like writing for a character I usually don't write for them. I guess in the TMNT fandom it might be Mikey, who I find kind of annoying. In Avatar I guess I'm not interested in writing for some members of recom squad, who kind of blur together to me, although some of course I'm very interested in writing for.

17. Post a line from a WIP that you’re working on.

She thinks of her bloodmother’s notes, Norm’s diagrams, chemical structures and samples and the dizzying, shifting shapes of one molecule folding into another. She remembers everything Grandmother and Mom ever taught about the woods, about bodies, about transformation, rebirth, the power every body carries to create, destroy, and make anew.

I admire so many, on and off ao3...and one of them also happens to write about nightmare 50s domesticity in space and the psychological horrors that can be linked to teddy bears, so what do you know.

26. Which part of your xxx fic was the hardest to write?

For the house is the same size as the world, hmm...I'd think the part were Ronal refers to rJake and Quaritch as Spider's mates. I wanted to avoid demonizing her or putting her on a pedestal there, just highlight the complicated, thorny angstiness of the situation, plus the added factors of Kiri's protectiveness and Spider's heavily internalized victim blaming. I hope I pulled it all off.

Honestly changes depending on who I'm writing, heh, but right now it's definitely Sylwanin te Tskaha Mo'at'ite. She deserves so much more love and attention and I miss her even though she was technically never on screen.

(Not part of the other post, but definitely Sylwanin's neck and neck with Paz Socorro rn. She's another underutilized character, and I'm automatically with anybody who's crazy enough to have Miles Quaritch's baby).

my mom's cooking, how my bed feels, and my desk setup all remind me of home

kinda? i don't believe in it as an actual lifestyle, like you will never catch me syncing my candles or intentions to the moon or whatever. but as someone who's from a culture that pays a lot of attention to the stars (my parents had to make sure the stars at their times of birth were aligned properly before getting married, for example), i don't think there's nothing to it. at the very least i like to follow it for fun and i know more about it than the average person. and no, i wouldn't judge someone for their star sign. it's an example that's brought up all the time and i'm not totally sure it even happens irl but. yeah.

i'm loyal, can do anything i set my mind to, and have a good blog theme!

oh goodness. well, i believe in a lot of witchy shit, so i think supernatural stuff happens to me quite often... on at least 2 occasions, i'll be thinking about a book or someone will recommend it or i'll need it for my witchwork & within a couple of days, someone will have given a copy away & left it somewhere where i'll come across it. one time, it was my building lobby, another time it was a box of books outside a building on my dog walk route. books are a super common way that i talk to my guides/the universe. fun & spooky! 📚 ✨

I really want to go clubbing wearing a sexy outfit with friends and/or my bf, but I think I'd enjoy going to a European club where their dance music is more my vibe. I haven't done it yet mainly bc there hasn't been an opportunity for it. When I talked about going to a club with one of my close friends a while ago, she and I couldn't figure out when to go/plan it.

for the animation ask! 19, 22, and 25!!

19) Have YOU ever made an animation before? If so, what was it about and what did you learn about the medium while making it? If not, would you want to try to make one in the future?

I did some very basic stop-motion for a video project back in college once. This was for a study I did on invasive species, and it consisted of paper cut-out lanternflies moving on a paper background (one scene w/ them swarming a tree and another of them all falling off of it). Despite being so simple it took DOZENS UPON DOZENS of frames to move the bodies and position them all in the correct ways

Animation is not an easy medium to get into. Very fun, but be sure you've got some time to spare even for the basic shit!

22) What is your favorite style of animation (hand drawn, computer generated, stop-motion, etc.)?

Generally I love all forms of animation, but I do have a particular fondness for stop-motion. Just the realness of it gets me, knowing that I am watching a hand-crafted real life sculpture/model moving around is just super cool to me! One could argue it's the most tedious form of animation, but that's what makes it so rewarding to get right imo

25) Name a live-action movie you think would have been significantly improved if it had been fully-animated

The best piece of advice I ever got was not meant as advice, but as an edict. If I was going to threaten people as a joke, it had to be so far out of proportion with what happened that it would be obvious I was joking. This changed how I expressed frustration with others. It then changed how I expressed frustration with myself.

Not “I’m going to hit you” but “I am going to buy a tuna sub from the gas station and hide it under the seat of your car”

Not “I’m going to kill myself” but “I am going to walk into the desert and let the scarabs take me”

The other side then happened. When I mess something up, instead of saying it’s bad and perpetuating negative thoughts, swing hard the other way.

Not “this art is terrible” but “this shall be framed and mounted on the wall in my museum exhibition as testament to the suffering I had to overcome”

Have been doing this since high school. It was my drama teacher who asked me to please stop scaring the actors. The other half of the edict was that I had to say it in a polite tone, and end it with either please or thank you.

Life changing. 10/10 Mr Muëller. Highly reccomend.

hbomberguy’s latest video on plagiarism has made me completely rethink literature and writing. I have never once so much as considered intentionally plagiarizing anyone or anything, but I think there’s something more that has come out of this: the names of the people who created the works Somerton (and others) ripped off.

Plagiarism isn’t only bad because it is lazy and disrespectful, it’s bad because it buries the truth. If you can’t find a source, the conversation is over. Somerton’s sources are fairly easy to find by simply searching his plagiarized lines, but that isn’t true in most cases. Most of the time, the line from statement to source is a lot less clear.

Today, I was writing a report on English Ivy, which is an invasive species here in the US. I wanted to know when it was introduced and I at last found a source claiming it was introduced to the Americas “as early as 1727” on a .net website that seems quite reputable (it has multiple major universities credited in its home page), but there is no citation for where this date came from. I dug deeper and found a pamphlet created by a city government in Virginia that made the same claim, only to discover the first source linked in their bibliography. Another website (a botanical garden’s page) gave the same date with the same source hyperlinked. Of course, I have classes to attend and things to do and probably not enough time to follow the lines back to where this 1727 date came from, but if I had not just watched this video, I wouldn’t have given that date a second thought.

Of course, it doesn’t matter in the long run exactly what year hedera helix was introduced to the Americas, but it makes you wonder how many facts have been so vaguely attributed that it becomes completely impossible to figure out where they originated (and further, whether or not they’re true at all).

Do you have any headcanons or thoughts about your muse's relationship with Minfilia?

Maru didn't really have much of a relationship with her in truth, though that's probably not for her lack of trying. In the early days of his association with the scions, he viewed them and their mission as a means to experience things he could not as an individual adventurer. He was using them probably just as much as they ended up using him.

He thought that their goal was lofty and unattainable and it was an interesting perspective when he'd really only seen such self-serving goals in others up to that point. Be it coin or fame or power, everyone wanted something for themselves.

And then there was Minfilia.

She was almost the antithesis to everything he'd seen prior to meeting her. Her absolute conviction in their mission and her self-sacrificial determination were things he'd not really encountered before, certainly not to the extent that she displayed them. And though her existing connections with the scions made him feel like he was little more than a tool being added to her collection, he remained because he was capable, intrigued and experiencing things that he would never have imagined otherwise.

Yes, he did come to care for her during his time with the Scions but not to any great extent, probably because he lacked the vision that she did, and couldn't really comprehend the sheer scale of her love for the Source.

The way she gave herself up to become the Word of the Mother gave him much to think about, especially considering his own connection to Griever. And to see her continuing to work and sacrifice for a future she would never see through the Minfilias of the First, cemented his respect for her but that was really the extent of his feeling for her.

Despite this, it wouldn't stop him from answering her call whenever it came and doing his utmost to see his tasks to completion.

It would only really be during the events of Shadowbringers that Maru would begin to feel close to the Scions and by then, Minfilia was already gone.
