in ta'burni, after tony's parents die when he's 17 at MIT, we get this from rhodey's pov (bold for emphasis)

“They’ll eat you alive,” Tony says, reminding him a lot of his mother just then. Rhodey watches Tony get in a limo surrounded by cameras, his black jeans his own and mostly that color because of one too many motor oil stains and the black button down too long and too big in the shoulders because it’s Rhodey’s, a streak of black against the blinding white of a thousand camera flashes.

later in the fic pepper meets tony when he's 30 and she's 25 and showing him around a gallery auction, she compares him to barton newmans's now ii

this is what she says about it:

“Barnett Newman completed this three years before his death and it’s a wonderful piece,” she says, head held high. “He said he wanted to paint as if inventing painting from scratch, as if no one had ever done it before.”

“It’s just a line,” he repeats, still amused. “That’s what he thought needed to be reinvented?”

She doubts she’ll ever be standing in front of Tony Stark again so she has to get this right, has to say this in a way that hopefully won’t offend him, because the other option is to say something she doesn’t mean and that’s a waste for both of them. “It’s a perfect line. Perfectly straight, perfectly black, and surrounded by perfect white. Not in color, it’s not the blackest black or the whitest white, but the tone matches perfectly. Their perfection is only obvious in their togetherness.” She could stop here, she could not embarrass herself in front of the most powerful businessman in the world, but she has achieved nothing in her life by being a coward. “The first time you drew a line, it wasn’t perfect. It probably wasn’t even straight. But you drew it again, and again, until it was, and now the lines you draw are turned into designs and schematics that change the world, from weapons you send overseas to the processor in my computer. You design as if you are inventing the world from scratch, which is why you’re doing things that others claim can’t be done, which is why you’re doing it better the rest of them.”

He's not smiling anymore, but he doesn’t look angry, or bored, or anything that will get her fired.

She swallows and continues, “Barnett Newman said of his paintings that he hoped that they had the impact of giving someone the feeling of their own totality, their own separateness, their own individuality, as that’s what they did for him. This line is you and everything that you will do. You make it look easy, Mr. Stark, but that doesn’t mean it is.”

I think Kayn would be a huge show off in the kind of protective way. He is the best of the Shadow Order, he wants to look good to you in the sense of " Look at me, be with me, I'll keep you safe, you'd be safe with me, please look at me, find worth in me!!!!" He isn't book smart, he doesn't have immense wealth or power but he is Strong! He will flex that to his advantage as much as possible.

If you were part of the Shadow Order too it would be in the way he would spar with others in front of you, adjusting his work out timings to match yours, invite you to train with him, secretly convince Zed to send him on your missions with you to be near you and keep you safe from harm. Brag about his kills to you. Offer to teach you new weapons to spend time with you while also flexing his various weapon masteries etc. If you weren't part of the order, it would be in how if you ever slightly mention any grievances they would be gone from your life. Like a whole " Huh? This guy has been threatening you? I'll scare him off." " No no I'm not gunna kill him the fuck, just...show him Rhaast a little that's all!" Or the kind of walking around with you in town as you do your daily chores so people know you are with the big strong part-daarkin man Kayn so no one messes with you. And he would totally get you gifts often in a bird kind of way. Like bringing you well crafted pretty designed weapons he got off some Noxian if you were in the order (like oh you use a dagger! look! look! I found this for you! its perfect for you! its light and well balanced!). Or pretty trinkets off his kills like a necklace here or some nice embroidered cloth there.

What do you think about the resurrection? I struggle believing in a bodily resurrection and in the ascension to heaven. I know most christians would disagree but do you think there are other ways of interpreting it?

i agree with you, and one of the big reasons i stopped considering myself christian was because i felt the incongruity between my perception of how god works in the world and the jesus myth*. there are some people who have sufficient spiritual flexibility to be able to acknowledge this tension honestly and still find their home in christianity, but i do not have this gift lmao (and i do wish i did). there are MANY interpretations of the resurrection and certainly a lot of people who care about orthodoxy would put pretty strict lines around what you can believe about it and still "be a christian" (like that poll going around a while ago where some people were extremely adamant that if you didn't believe in the bodily resurrection you couldn't be a christian) but i think that's silly. there is no way to know the objective truth of the historical events and unfortunately for those of us who like knowing things we all have to deal with that fact. some people meet god in a physical resurrection, some a metaphysical one, some a metaphorical one, and so on. i think god is flexible and gracious enough to inhabit all of these possibilities and more....god is passing osmotically through these barriers we set up.

so anyway to actually answer your question, at this point in time i would say i don't personally believe in a bodily resurrection (also i don't quite believe jesus was god in a different way than anyone else), and additionally the dying part was always more....impactful? to me than the rising part lmao. the suffering of god has always been a vitally important facet of my faith. what can i say my spirituality has always had a bit of a sadomasochistic overtone

Would you date Kid if he was a real guy? 😎 If you could spent a day with him (and the crew maybe) what would you do?

I would absolutely, without a doubt, date Kidd. I think that we would have a lot in common especially when I think of the similarities in our personality, interests, and how difficult our childhoods were.

If I could spend a day with Kidd and the crew, I’d want to spend it on the Victoria Punk at sea so that everyone would be in the same place at the same time. I’d want to do some simple but fun things like listen to music, do each others makeup, paint each others nails, and play card/board games. I’d want to sit in Kidd’s workshop and watch him make something while getting him to talk about what he’s building. We don’t really get to see him making things outside of battle but it’s heavily implied that he’s always tinkering so it’s something I’d want to give some appreciation to. I’d like to watch Killer work in the kitchen and maybe have him show me how to make one of his favorite recipes if he would be up to it. Much like Kidd, we don’t really see him outside of combat so it would be neat to talk about his interests or just give him the space to talk about whatever is on his mind.

Heat and Wire are portrayed as quiet intimidators but we know that they have big hearts because they readily laughed alongside Killer after the SMILE incident so that he’d feel more comfortable. I think it would be fun to talk with them about how they dress and how to come up with such a unique style. That also goes for everyone else on the ship, but their appearances stick out to me in particular. I’d ask Heat about his fire breathing and how he settled on that style of fighting because it’s such a neat skill but I’d imagine it’s a difficult one to master. Wire doesn’t seem to talk much at all but I just know there’s a mountain of a personality underneath the silence so I’d try to interact with him in a group setting where the conversation could volley more comfortably.

Bubblegum, Dive, UK, Pomp, Boogie, Mosh, Quincy, and House are the people that I think would be up to the most shenanigans. It would be so fun to hang out and spur them on, especially when they’re actively trying to irritate Kidd. I can’t exactly explain why, but I think it would be fun to pester Kidd the same way he does to others. All too often the fun aspects of piracy are overshadowed by the lesser desirable aspects of that lifestyle so it would be nice to really take the fun moments and roll with them for as long as possible.

I genuinely feel that once they’re comfortable and could establish trust with someone, they’d be one of most fulfilling and enjoyable groups of people to become a part of. I can say with complete certainty that there would never be a dull moment. ♡

I'm so glad you asked! I can say unequivocally...no!

I'm seeing this in real time with the nitearmor and wolfwren stuff. I'm totally cool with people vibing with that and I can see the appeal in both cases but it's just not something that gets me excited when I know it's never "really" going to happen. So maybe if the whole blanket line had never been said (probably not if it had actually been someone else), I would have quietly shipped it and maybe written a fic or two, but it wouldn't have taken over my whole life.

This has just been a perfect combination of things happening to make me insane. Like. Two hot, complicated rebel characters in a complicated and juicy relationship during my absolute favorite era of Star Wars in the show I waited years to lose my mind over? A perfect storm. Literally I do believe they were a gift from the universe to me. The rest of you just get to share them.

Hi there!! Thank you so much first of all for your kindness and expressing your love of my writing thus far—I really cannot even begin to express how much this means to me. I love being able to bring you all joy, and things to read that you can really enjoy and immerse yourself in! It seems I'm doing my job well, and I'm very thrilled to hear that. Thank you so, so much. ♡

Secondly, thank you so much for going so far as to wonder about my boundaries as a person and writer—that means the world to me as well! Really great that you asked this, because literally right before this ask came in, I was already beginning to think about my boundaries a bit, and how I would go about organizing this information for you all! I imagine that after this, I'll begin my formal masterlist, as well as link this post so you all can reference my boundaries as well. Really, thank you for caring about that, I can't explain how much it means to me. But let's get right into it!!

Honestly, I am open to hearing any request ideas. Sometimes, I'm not sure if I'd be comfortable with writing something until I get the request for the thing and then I can gauge my comfort level. There are three levels of my comfort:

🌑=FULLY comfortable with writing this!

🌓=partially comfortable with writing this, will have to be on my own terms, and illustrated either vaguely or in ways that I am comfortable whilst still fulfilling the request.

🌕=not at all comfortable writing this, please bear with me while I do my best.

When necessary, I will indicate any one of these symbols at the beginning of a request or even my own idea (and of course I will specify what it means, I don't expect you all to remember! That would be so unfair!) if it is something I feel would be necessary to note, especially if there is an aspect or more where I haven't had much experience with due to not knowing my comfort level, or knowing that my comfort level is less than fully comfortable. But I will also still be sure to let you all know if I am fully comfortable writing something if that request seems like something where it would feel sort of essential to note that.

For example, any sort of NSFW request, even if I am fully comfortable fulfilling it, I will still note that I am because I think it is important you all know that, even. So honestly, don't hesitate to run anything by me! If I am absolutely NOT okay with writing something, I will either leave the request unanswered, or I will post a little explanation as to why I will be leaving the request unfulfilled. If this happens, please, do not take it personally for asking that of me! I am just glad to have things be run by me, I am always open to ideas of any kind and I'll just be glad you asked and I will always encourage you to request something else. But honestly as a writer, I am comfortable with quite a lot. NSFW writing can depend, but honestly, don't hesitate to send in those ideas. It really, really just depends on what it surrounds and how in detail you expect me to go, because sometimes I won't be open to being super in detail with those themes but sometimes, I will!

I will say though, by no means am I comfortable writing anything surround SA in depth. There can be a past of it for a character or the reader, that is absolutely fine if it is necessary for the idea, but I will not go in depth about the actual SA that happened. I am also not too comfortable writing things surrounding pregnancy as I don't feel like it's much my place to and it's a bit triggering for me due to some personal reasons but like, I am okay writing things where a character and the reader already have children and such, or even just had children, just not the process of pregnancy. It's not my favorite thing to write still but, I am comfortable doing so. I also do not like to write character x readers either where the reader cheats and/or the character cheats, but I will write stories where one of them have been cheated on in the past and such, by other people. Also of course, if you can think of anything considered morally wrong and/or illegal (for instance, incest) I obviously will not write it, I don't feel like that was essential to say because I can see you are all good people that know right from wrong and wouldn't request stuff like that anyways, but like, just to lay that out there, you know?

Things surrounding mental health—go ahead and request. I will either fulfill your request (most of the time, I will!) or I will not, depending on the context/content. I do not want any of you, or myself, to feel too terribly triggered, BUT mental health topics are important to delve into and I do feel comfortable doing so. I know it can be validating for others, and even myself! But I also want to be respectful of you all and myself.

I just devoured both PLA Wingfics of yours and now I cannot stop thinking about Calaba and Irida watching Ingo fall full force into Birb Instincts because Akari decided to do something dangerous-

So here I am, asking that question-

How do you think Calaba and/or Irida would react to that?

and thank you VERY MUCH SO FOR ASKING THIS, bc i do absolutely plan to (eventually) write 1 or more fics under this EXACT premise--

THE ANSWER: WITH GENTLE CAUTION.

Calaba as a medicine woman would have asked to examine Ingo immediately. She likely already has EXTENSIVE records of him, complete with both notes, drawings, and a few feathers taken from different parts of the wing. I bet you she learned how to fix injured wings solely because of Ingo, before Akari came, and was the actual expert for handling feather-type wings. Laventon has approached her over this more than once, in my head. I bet she would have seen Ingo acting funky and assumed it was a spiritual thing, and he is being "taken over" by his "animal side"–– although its not explicitly mentioned (yet) in the series, winged-folk (aka ingo) were considered an anomaly transformed by passage through the wormhole over the highlands. That wings are not a natural progression of future human evolution, but instead some sort of godly gift or curse–– which is not helped when kari comes, arguably even MORE cursed than ingo, with wings of her own. Calaba probably see him begin to fall into brooding instincts and is like "Hm, hm! Time to get the incense. Sit down." She's very practical. It is an unnatural ailment, but an ailment nonetheless, so there must be a cure! Surely this will help.

Irida is a bit more... hm. She would probably be wary, above even concern. This is a member of her clan, yes, but despite Ingo's acceptance into the Pearl clan he is still unerringly an outsider. He's literally built different... and now he's acting different, too. She would think, above all, about the safety of her people. If this new emerging behavior a threat to her clan? and then, should that be settled, is this a threat to Ingo? I don't think she would actively do much, honestly, but he would be VERY alert about it. Ingo isn't some stranger to her. He is a warden and a clanmate and a friend. She would not kick him out or something over it... she would just be aware. And maybe set out an order clan-wide not to approach either Akari OR Ingo, for a while, until this is all solved. He might get low-key asked to remain in the Highlands and not come visit, too, though she would feel immensely guilty about it immediately-- and send him to Calaba for good measure, to check him over thoroughly.

One thing they would Both consider, definitely, would be whether... Ingo is going to be Frenzied. While neither of them will say it, Ingo and Akari aren't very human. Not to them. Humans don't have wings. But Pokemon do. Several of them do. Nobles have become frenzied. Wardens hold close contact to their nobles. The frenzy spread from Liligant to Ursaluna, before. If Lady Sneasler was to become Frrenzied... could it be passed to Ingo, who theoretically might be part pokemon? Could be be frenzied alone?

(They stockpile little stores of Ingo's favorite foods, just in case.)

Do you think we'll ever get some spicy drama for Mai or do you think Miman will leave her as the "sensible"* adult of the group?

I could see it going either way, and while I love some deliciously painful Watayuri drama, the idea of the eccentric cafe owner just wanting to live out her Class S fantasies getting hit with nonstop relationship drama between her employees is also pretty funny.

*as sensible as someone who blackmails high schoolers into working for her and has a fashion sense that can best be described as "school uniform surplus sales cause she's gotta be about dat Class S life 24/7" can be

I'm intrigued by the idea that Mai maybe suffered a devastating heartbreak before she started the cafe and she's completely ignoring/ 'dealing' with it by focusing on all the drama at the cafe. It was originally meant to be an escape of romantic fantasies but her employees adding their own drama just means she has to focus on her own life even less which is a win for her.

On the other hand, I agree it would be amusing if she just really wants her cute little Class S cafe and the fact that they keep bringing personal drama is just SO frustrating to her but she needs to grin and bare it because that's what you get for hiring high schoolers that you have manipulated into taking the job.

List of your favorite Renfield moments/moments that you stimmed about?

AAAAA okay I love this question so thank for asking it!!

I’ll do it for both versions of renfield because I love him a lot, but first in the new one I’d say it was mainly in the flash back black and white scenes (especially when it gets compared to the original?? It makes me so happy) and a lot of the fight scenes, especially when he’s having his own lil jokes through out them really made me just :D

plus I ADORE when he’s fixing himself up and trying new things around his apartment- seeing him be happy and express himself made me so happy no joke! Also a lot of his dorky and awkward scenes, bevause I could relate to them and seeing it in a character that I really liked made me super happy! (Extra moment for anytime he ate a bug or swore consistently while panicking because I love it)

Then in the 1931 version legit, the first moment he was on screen I was super excited and stimmed quite a bit (really I did for most the first part of that) and any scene where he would randomly walk into a room and everyone’s like dude?? why you here?? was amazing.

honestly, most scenes of renfield made me stim a lot and I have ended up picking new vocal stims because of him and a few other mannerisms (this usually happens when I like a character since I end up watching them so much that I pick up some of their traits)

What do you wish someone would ask you about ‘To What We Were Before and All the things After’ ? Answer it now!

So I got this ask a hot minute ago and I wanted to sit on it for a while because I didn't have an answer.

And I think I've finally found one?

-> Why do you include certain scenes that people may not like or think fit the story in their opinion?

I got a comment on AO3 that actually made me think of this. It was something along the lines of "I hate it when girls fight over a guy" and my honest answer is:

Same.

I hate it. It's stupid. I've never done it as I see it as redundant and would rather just give the other person the thing they want and save myself the drama.

So why did I write it?

Because it was important to the overall story.

And just because I don't like something, doesn't mean that thing never happens. Girls fight over boys every day, it's a tale as old as time. And in the case of Yuri being a bit bananaballs about JK, once you learn her backstory more, I think you'll be able to see why she acts the way she does and why her past traumas manifest this way.

It's important to put preference aside when writing stories. It allows you to grow and experience things you normally wouldn't. It makes you uncomfortable in a good way, and lets you to put yourself into shoes you may normally hate or not understand. And then by doing so, potentially and unintentionally making yourself understand them and grow as a person.

Knowledge is power. And so while some people may see it as two girls fighting over a boy. When I wrote it, I saw it as:

A girl that gets defensive over a seemingly unreachable boy, lets you as the reader, learn about her in a way you may never have thought to before.

She seemed fine before that. She knows Reader has a life partner, she KNOWS reader would never do that to her. So why react that way?

To make you question her a little deeper.

Why is she so defensive? Is she really that clueless? Does she really have no self awareness?

Or is she maybe still a young girl at heart, one that’s clutching desperately onto once previously shattered dreams? Is she maybe looking for a man more powerful than her parents to sweep her away from her dreaded future?

And so when she’s confronted so harshly with reality by Reader, maybe she doesn't know how to cope properly, never learned how to.

And instead she learned to create a narrative that fit her needs better; learned how to escape bad feelings by pushing others away and blocking the bad feelings out and pretending they didn’t exist.

In the wise words of Ender Wiggan,

“In the moment when I truly understand my enemy, understand him well enough to defeat him, then in that very moment I also love him. I think it's impossible to really understand somebody, what they want, what they believe, and not love them the way they love themselves."

And you have to do that when writing (the way I do). I consider it forced, mutual growth.

Have you got any ideas/concepts for future fics?

Thank you for this ask! I always have ideas for fics, I'm just struggling to find time/motivation to write atm sadly :(

Most likely thing rn to get written is a longer version of the writing in my "my own cloud" tag, focusing on Max's having to confront his childhood trauma due to *an event* that happens, and how this effect his relationship with daniel and his family. (Sorry to be so vague lol it's just pretty dead dove and I don't want to get crucified on the dash...)

Other ideas I play around with in my mind are a step/half brothers au (ft. an occasional abo version, depending on how deranged i feel), a dystopian au, and a forced coming out story (leaked sex tape trope, woo). Obviously all are maxiel, I can write nothing else lol.

Are you Catholic or agnostic lol

I wibble wobble. I’d say more spiritually Agnostic?

Though as my experience in the Church has been Mostly Positive, and due to being around my Liberal Catholic Grandmother Who Correctly Uses Pronouns, I still consider myself a bit Catholic. At the very least, I like learning about it a lot. Especially the obscure parts.

Also, the current Incumbent Pope seems to be doing an Ok job. The raging is. Mostly Amusing. Though I can partly get being afraid of losing your Traditions, I don’t recall him forcing people to change.

My world view is… I’m uncertain. Pantheistic, I think? I like parts of Gnosticism, and Buddhism, though I haven’t done enough research on the latter.

Hindu theology sounds interesting as well. More Research Needed.

Most media I consume tends to have a Metaphysical and mildly apocalyptic bent. But in a cyclical way. The world is destroyed and reborn, ect THAT is probably due to my Mother. Who is Spiritual, Skeptical (of media in general) and not Catholic. My Dad was raised Catholic, but is Atheist and Proud.

I don’t think I consume usual Catholic Media, though. Unless you count Elder Scrolls, Elden Ring, Ultrakill and Blasphemous (Video Games). As Catholic. Which would be very funny.

I’m pretty sure these had an impact too.
