PLAYISM and Alphawing announce roguelite action game Metal Bringer for PC
Gematsu Source
Tumblr media
Publisher PLAYISM and Samurai Bringer developer Alphawing have announced roguelite action game Metal Bringer for PC. It will launch via Steam in 2024 with English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese language support.
Get the details below.
About
Samurai Bringer, Alphawing’s previous game, is a Japanese roguelite action game released in 2022, where you play as Susanoo and defeat world-famous Japanese samurai as you collect combat techniques to create your own fighting style. It has received over 800 reviews on Steam with a Very Positive rating. Metal Bringer is the second game in the Bringer series, and this time, the setting is completely different—in this game, you fight in a science-fiction world with androids and giant robots in horde-based combat that’s even more satisfying than the last game, and of course, your combat actions will evolve as you fight. The Steam page is now up, so don’t forget to wishlist the game!
The Story
“The sky is blue, infinitely high, and infinitely vast… Whose words were these again…? Ah, I remember… It was about a virtual reality Rudra told me about. A fairy tale. How many years has it been since humanity took refuge underground? No one alive has ever seen a blue sky. And now, I’m trapped in the depths, in a small, lifeless room. Just how long have I been here…?” A young girl named Suria wakes up in a laboratory and finds out that she has been put in cyrosleep for 1000 years without her knowledge. In order to search for the rest of humanity, she builds Labor with her trusty Buds, and sends them off to investigate…
Highly Customizable Player Characters
Build and control android soldiers called “Labor,” or have them pilot giant machines called “Arms.” Each and every Labor and Arms you build is highly customizable. You can change the color and appearance of their features, or swap out parts to change their fighting styles. The sheer variety in character customization will allow you to create and fight with the mech of your dreams.
The More You Play, the Stronger You Get
In Samurai Bringer, you could mix and match combat techniques to create every step of your very own action combos. But in Metal Bringer, you instead collect “disks,” which contain apps that are installed onto your Labor. These apps strengthen your character and power up your actions in an easier and more intuitive way, making it all the more exciting and satisfying to mow down hordes of enemies as your character keeps growing stronger.
New Technologies, Both Visual and Audio
This game uses the same voxel art style as Samurai Bringer, but just like Samurai Bringer, it also implements a real-time pixel art generating system, and will also feature the newest raytracing technology for beautifully lit environments. The music too is made with the newest technology, as it is played in real time and changes according to the situation.
All-Star Creative Team
The key art and Suria’s character design is done by Suzuhito Yasuda, and on the writing team, we have Sami Shinosaki on board!
Suzuhito Yasuda (Twitter) – Illustrator, manga artist, and character designer for multiple popular games and media, such as Durarara!! and the Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor series.
Sami Shinosaki – Novelist. Known for the novelizations of the Armored Core and Fire Emblem series.
Word from the Developer
Hello, I’m Takahama, the development director at Alphawing. Metal Bringer is set in a completely different world from Samurai Bringer, where you can use humanoid robots called Labor and giant mechs developed from heavy machinery called Arms to wipe out waves and waves of enemies! We’ve developed new technologies for this game, such as a technique that renders pixels in real time, and another technology that plays music in real time to make it feel as if you were accompanied by live music! Right now, we’re preparing a demo that focuses on the battle aspect of the game. We hope a lot of people will stop by our next event to try out the game!
Play the Demo at PAX West 2023
It’s been four whole years since PLAYISM last participated in PAX West, but this year we’ll be there in Seattle, from September 1 to 4! We’ll be showcasing the very first playable demo of Metal Bringer at the PLAYISM booth, so please stop by the Seattle Convention Center to try it out! Everyone who tries out the Metal Bringer demo at the event will receive a special postcard.

(If you write crossovers, if not sorry!) Any headcanons of how Vergil and Sephiroth would interact if they ever met? 👀👀👀 I need to see an ego-clash between these cool and collected samurai boys~ 💜💙 Your works are amazing btw~! Keep at it!
I don't normally do crossovers but Sephiroth and Vergil hold special places in my heart so I'll do it. Thanks for requesting and I'm so glad you enjoy my works. 💜
Sephiroth and Vergil meeting headcannons
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Vergil would be very confused (as he almost always is) and wonder who this strange, effeminate, cat-like man is, and how he can manage hair that long.
-Sephiroth, meanwhile, would bristle, thinking this strange old man to be a friend of Cloud's.
-Since both of them are brooding, emo INTJs, they'll spend a full five minutes staring and quietly analyzing each other.
-Sephiroth would come to the conclusion that the man before him is not a human, and appears to be way stronger than Cloud could ever hope to be. There's also this sinister aura around him that puts Seohiroth on edge. Good. He'll make a great ally, as long as he cooperates.
-Vergil, on the other hand, sees Sephiroth's white hair and notes his age, as well as build. He'd be around Nero's age...and he has the signature Sparda white hair....oh no. He didn't have another offspring...did he?
-After a very long time, Sephiroth finally breaks the silence and asks if Vergil would perhaps be interested in joining him in defying destiny and such.
-Vergil responds, asking if by doing so, he will gain more power.
-Sephiroth doesn't really know what to make of this; he plans on killing him right after his goals have been completed...but hey, he seems like a chill dude. Just humor him.
-Sephiroth tells Veegil that yes, he will gain power, and Vergil is immediately on board. Rather than shake hands to consolidate their new friendship, the two swordsmen bump the hills of their swords together, in a cooler, more badass "fist bump".
-Fast forward 3 months later; Cloud, Dante, Tifa, and Nero have joined forces and are now scouring the Earth, looking for Vergil and Sephiroth. Dante and Nero are doing this because they're secretly worried; Cloud and Tifa are looking because it's been too long since Cloud had a headache--not a good sign.
-The quartet spent a long time searching and finding nothing. Exhausted, they decide to try one more area before calling it a day. They travel to the top of a mountain, where they discover something they weren't prepared for.
-Sitting in matching plastic chairs on a nearby precipice are Vergil and Sephiroth, their katanas delicately resting against the backs of their chairs. They each have hot mugs of coffee and are currently chatting about their mommy issues in the most casual of tones.
-Dante and Cloud exchange looks, as do Nero and Tifa. "Should we...interrupt them?" Asks Nero, uncertainly. Cloud shrugs; Dante sighs and scratches his head, and Tifa just stands there, wondering how life became this messed up.
-Vergil and Sephiroth go on to become the top bringers of Dis-Pear and Motivation, though whether or not either of them achieve their respective goals is uncertain...for now.

I highly recommend using Penumbra over Textools for mod installation. Mainly due to it letting you control who the mod works on on your side, and the ability to use Glamourer. Penumbra lets you set mods to affect yourself only, all player characters, all npcs, ect. This way everyone with hair type X won't have Dante's hair. Only you will. It'll also let you set priorities and disable mods when needed, which is especially helpful if you have mods that interact with one another.
Best part is you do not need to exit the game to install/modify mods. It's all done in game and no restarting is needed.
More under cut
Glamourer comes and works with Penumbra. It lets you set a sort of client side glamour plate for yourself. That way what you wear in game for others to see is totally separate to what you use in Glamourer. Say the top used for Dante's coat mod is an ugly thing vanilla wise, but you have to wear it to have Dante's coat. With Glamourer you can set your ingame looks to whatever you want, then on your side use Glamourer to set the ugly coat on yourself. Everyone else will see the gear you set up in game, not the ugly coat, but you'll see Dante's coat on your end. Glamourer can also modify dyes, weapons, remove gear restrictions, and change your race, gender, and any character customizations at will.
If you play with friends that also mod, there's something called Mare Syncronus that works through Penumbra too. It's a player made server by the Penumbra creator that reads what mods you currently are using on your character, sends it to their server, and shares it with friends you have added on your Mare friends list. This way you and your friends can actually see each others mods. This extends to your modified minions, mounts, battle actions, and emotes too. Only people you add in your friends list or share a sync shell with can see your mods, and only mods installed into Penumbra are able to be picked up. Textool installed mods will not be visible to others. You do have the option to pause yourself and/or other individuals/groups when you don't want your mods to be visible, or if you don't want to see their's either.

SAITO MUSASHIBO BENKEI, THE JAPANESE GOD OF WAR, THE FOUR HEAVENLY KINGS AND DRAGON SYMBOLISM BOTH IN CHINA AND JAPAN
— AND BLACK DRAGON FIRST GEN
(I’ll start with Benkei since he’s the reason this post exists. And also it makes things easier.)
BENKEI
Saitō Musashibō Benkei (西塔武蔵坊弁慶), popularly known as simply Benkei (弁慶), is said  to have defeated 200 men in each battle he was personally involved in. In Tokyo Revengers, Benkei’s actual name is Arashi (荒師) Keizo (慶三) and if you take a closer look both ‘-kei’ in Benkei and Keizo are the same. They are written with the same kanji. Isn’t that beautiful. (In Tokyo Revengers ‘Benkei’ is only written in Katakana.)
He was first named Oniwaka (鬼若 ; demon/ogre child), because he was born with wild hair, long teeth and grew faster than other children. He was also a troublemaker, fighting with other children, breaking things. Because of his behavior he was behavior sent him to a monastery. Getting into a monastery and becoming a monk didn’t not calm Oniwaka down who kept getting in troubles and sent from monastery to monastery, from temple to temple. At seventeen he left the monasteries for good and take on the name Saito Musashibo Benkei.
Benkei wandered around Kyoto every night to take 1000 swords. After winning 999 swords (he had never lost a battle in his life), he came across Minamoto no Yoshitsune who he decided he’ll take the sword of and get his 1000th sword. Minaomoto no Yoshitsune’s sword was gilded. He was also much more shorter than Benkei since he was a child (10 years old or so). Benkei lost. Not long after he asked for a rematch and lost once again. After that he became Minamoto no Yoshitsune’s servant, followed him and fought by his side. They stayed together as outlaws until they both died. Benkei is seen as the picture of loyalty.
The temple Atago, nowadays the temple Benkei, has a statue of Benkei which is six feet and two inches tall (just like Benkei in Tokyo Revengers). There’s only ruins and a single pine tree where the ancient temple Benkei once was.
Minamoto no Yoshitsune(源 義経), born Ushiwakamaru (牛若丸 ; young bull) is one of the most famous and liked samurai in Japan. Since Benkei swore loyalty to him, there could be Shinichiro (+his sword was gilded). Yoshitsune was also said to fight as if he was flying so perhaps Wakasa ? But Benkei would never admit any kind of defeat against Wakasa if it even ever happens (there’s a reason why Kanto was cut in half between those two). So Senju ? She’s stronger than Benkei and Wakasa as a teen. I don’t know. Wakasa, Oniwaka and Ushiwakamaru share the same ‘waka’ kanji (若). It could mean nothing. But also Wakui could’ve chosen another name for Wakasa and not let me questioning things. And like. The ‘Ushi’ in both Ushiwakamaru and Imaushi is the same (牛) as well. So. Perhaps. Wakasa is Minamoto no Yoshitsune. But i’m a bit iffy about it. But since Wakui wrote them as a duo and you can’t talk about Benkei without talking about Yoshitsune and vice versa...
GOD OF WAR, FOUR HEAVENLY KINGS
(Hope y’all remember Shinichiro nicknamed Takeomi ‘rain bringer’)
I thought ‘god of war’ refered to Hachiman, and it might since he’s a japanese god of war and of agriculture (so perhaps has a weak or strong link to the rain) and I think he is to an extent since he was the protector of the Minamoto clan AND Hachiman is said to be the one to determine a samurai’s fate (aKa if they win or lose their battles) just like Takeomi says ("I was feared, sice my decisions determined how any conflict would end.") BUT. The Four Heavenly Kings. Vaiśravaṇa (means: ‘very famous’). Bishamonten. God of war and warriors, seen as a punisher of evildoes and ruler of rain. Carrying an umbrella ('chatra' ; which symbolizes kingship, sovereignty).
Dhṛtarāṣṭra. Jikokuten. King of the east. Associated with the color white. In China, he is named Chíguó Tiān (持國天 lit. "King who holds a country") (Dhṛtarāṣṭra means ‘protector of the nation’) because it is said he helps support a country against enemies. Wakasa is the one who at the end harmonized Kodo Rengo and caused the twelves gangs to unionize and ruled over the eastern side of Kanto. He is often pictured with a fierce expression trampling a jaki. (we're gonna talk about jaki later, i promise you)
Virūpākṣa. Birubakusha. King of the west. Associated with the color red. Whether it be in China or Japan, he is shown having a red skin. He is also sommonly seen trampling a jaki. Or, Benkei, also nicknamed Red Cliff, and once ended up painted in red with enemies' blood, who ruled the western side of Kanto with Ragnarok. Virūpākṣa means ‘wide eyes’ and refers to awareness.
Virūḍhaka. Birurokusha. The only one left. Definitively Shinichiro. Although with how Dhṛtarāṣṭra is described (‘harmonious and compassionate, protects all beings’ I did doubt a bit as whether it was really Wakasa bc he is the one to have become leader of Kodo Rengo among the twelve gangs forming it). In China, he is called Zēngzhǎng Tiānwáng (增長天 lit. Growth King) because he has the ability to teach to sentient beings how to grow compassion. Virūḍhaka in Sanskrit means ‘sprouting grain’ or ‘growing large’, still referring to this idea of ‘increase’ or ‘growth’. In Japan, he has a fierce expression while trampling a jaki.
(By the way, Kakucho, Mochi, Shion and Ran are the Four Heavenly Kings of Tenjiku. But I’m still convinced it fits BD first gen better)
Alright, so what a jaki ?
Amanojaku or Amanjaku is a small oni able to see into people’s heart, to detect and inflame a person’s darkest desire and convince them into doing gravely wicked deeds. When Amanojaku is ordered to do something, it does the opposite. It is considered an opponent of Buddhist teachings and is commonly depicted as being trampled on and subdued into righteousness by one of the Four Heavenly Kings (often Bishamonten). In this context only is it called jaki. One of the most famous appearance of Amanojaku is in Urikohime (melon princess) where it kidnaps and sometimes impersonates her after eating her.
So yeah, I think I’ve found Mikey’s dark impulses.
DRAGONS
(starting with chinese culture)
The Chinese dragon symbolizes prosperity and good luck, potent and auspicious power. An easy thing to point out is the Dragon being the symbol of Chinese emperors but it is as easy at it is relevant. Because, if Black Dragon, Shinichiro, ruled over Japan, then yes, he was an emperor. Most importantly, during the Qing dynasty, the imperial dragon was yellow/gold like Shinichiro’s image color and during the Ming dynasty it was red, like Mikey’s. The Dragon is also believed to be the ruler of water, such as rain but also waterfalls, typhons, seas… It is sometime called ‘Dragon King ‘ although there are severals (5) Dragon Kings, one for each cardinal point and seasons (Black/Dark/Mysterious dragon – north - winter ; white dragon – East – fall ; Cannibar/Vermillon dragon – south – summer; Azure/blue-green dragon – west – spring) each who ruled on different sea who were metaphorical boundaries of China during pre-Han dinasty (the south sea, the west sea which were both real and the made-up west and north seas (which were ‘discovered’ later – they’re lakes. Qinghai Lake and Lake Baikai)). The last ruled on the ‘middle’, the Yellow (or gold, really) Dragon. (linked with late summer)
Also, I think if we have to link a Dragon to one of the first gen members, the white dragon would go to Wakasa and red/cannibar/vermillon to Benkei but then. Hear me out. Takeomi is the azure/blue-green dragon and Shinichiro is the yellow one. And the black/dark/mysterious is left alone. Because it’s the whole gang. But the Yellow dragon is the dragon kinda piecing everything together and that’s the point. Shinichiro as BD creator and leader embodied both the gang as a whole and himself as an individual. Black Dragon is the Black/Dark/Mysterious dragon and also the Yellow dragon and Shinichiro is the Yellow dragon and the Drak/Black/Mysterious dragon.
BUT THEN. The Dragons Kings and the Four Guardians/Gods are basically the same thing. So The white dragon (Byakko, Baihu in Chinese) is a tiger, the black dragon (Genbu, Xuanwu in Chinese) is a tortoise, the red (Suzaku, Zhuque in Chinese) dragon is a bird and the blue dragon (Seiryu, Qinglong in Chinese) is a… dragon. Japan doesn’t seem to have a Yellow dragon, they are only four of them – like the OG BD founders. (but also it kinda does ? I’m still confused about whether or not they have five or four dragons sorry about that.)
BUT THEN. Because nothing can be easy. The black tortoise is written with those kanji 玄武 (can also be read ‘mysterious warrior’) and you know what ? Takeomi’s name is written with those kanji : 武臣. (and also Senju said to Takemichi that they are the mysterious siblings once). So at the end it’s the azure dragon that is left alone. Since, while Japan doesn’t have a yellow dragon, Shinichiro’s image color is gold. Edit: The Kanji for 'Take' in 'Takemichi' is also 武.
Since the Dragon was seen as the ruler of water and water-related weather phenomenas, many temples were dedicated to them and they were offered sacrifices when drought or flooding were happening or in time of dryness. So it was to either ask for the water to stop or to come.
The Dragon God/King worship is celebrated with sacrifices (to only name the one religious pratice I succeeded to link to TokRev –). It was on the fifth or sixth moon (/month) of the Chinese year. In 2003, the Chinese year started on the 1st of February. So six months later, it’d be August. And… the Worship of the Dragon God is celebrated especially on the date of his birthday the thirteenth day of the sixth moon. Shinichiro died on the 13th of August. (+it's the first day of Obon, the Japanese days of the dead that lasts from August 13th to August 15th; ghost are said to come back on earth and visit their family)
Yeah.
So, now that we’ve established how Shinichiro is linked to the dragon let me add that people who are deemed excellent and outstanding are compared to dragons in chinese culture.
In Japan, once knowledge/believes from China (Tang dynasty) came in, buddhist raimaking ritual prayers involved dragon kings. And the rain ritual was performed regularly.
Still, Japan already had dragons before Chinese people came in. Japanese dragons are also linked to their emperors since it is believed a Dragon is the ancestor of the emperors. They are more nuanced than the helpful Chinese dragons – Japan has dragons who are both ‘good’ and ‘bad’, they’re humanized. They’re shapeshifting masters – if a human sees them in their dragon form is because they decide so, otherwise they’re able to look and act like a human (and mate. There . You have your explanation as to how a dragon can be a human’s ancestor.) or any other thing/being they want to appear as. Some rule from the clouds and others from the water. The one coming from the water are linked to bodies of water and rain (which seems to be most of them, the dragon is seen as a water deity) like their chinese counterpart. They very rarely have wings, when they do their wings are as small as those of a bat.
The Japanese blue/azure dragon is the guardian of cities. The japanese white dragon (O Goncho) which appears every 50 years as a golden bird, its cry means famine is coming.
Dragons symbolize wealth, perseverance and wisdom in Japan.
ADDITIONAL STUFFS
- The Dragon and the Tiger are seen as mighty rivals (龍虎, Ryūko, the kanji are literally 'dragon' and 'tiger') in Japanese culture - hence, Kazutora being the one to kill Shinichiro was a good way to show the balance was no more (as neither the Dragon nor the Tiger ever win against one another) + might be the reason why Mikey chooses his neck to have his dragon tattoo and why he chooses the left side (Kazutora having his tiger tattoo on the right) - it's for the symbolism
- Four clans dominated politics during the Heian period. Now, the four clans don’t seem to hold any informations that can be relevant to Tokyo Revengers. Except for one. And I don’t see in what but it has to be. It’s the Tachibana (橘) clan and you’d think, what a coincidence but op it might not be the same kanji. It is. It is and it’s beautiful but I can’t find how it can be important. It’s probably isn’t, honestly. But. But it’s here.
- The logo of Ragnarok was a Byakko. A white tiger, so a Byakko, was said to appear when the emperor rules with absolute virtue or if there was world peace. Ironic for a gang named ‘Ragnarok’. (But then wasn't Shinichiro —?)The Byakko is the guardian of the West, it is the white dragon. In Chinese art, it often depicted alongside the dragon. In Japan, the dragon is often seen with a tiger so it honestly surprises me there aren’t that much tigers in TokRev. I can name Kazutora but no other character comes right to my mind when thinking of tigers.
- The Kanji for Kodo Rengo (煌道連合) mean stuff:
煌 : glitter, gleam, twinkle
道 : road-way, street, district, journey, course, moral, teachings
連 : take along, lead, join, connect, party, gang, clique
合 : fit, suit, join. (The verb 合う means : to come together, to merge, to unite, to meet)
‘Rengo’ does fit Kodo Rengo well, since it is a gang made of several gangs who came/merged together. ’Kodo’ is also something, that while it doesn’t seem to hold that much meaning (i’m not fluent or anything in japanese, i can’t tell if it really doesn’t)
On the other hand, Ragnarok (螺愚那六)...
螺:small, edible, helical fresh-water mollusk
愚:foolish, folly, absurdity, stupid, foolishness; silliness; stupidity; folly
那: what ?
六: six
I don’t know. Maybe it does indeed mean something, maybe it’s just because those are kanji that sounds like ‘Ragnarok’ (six is pronounced 'roku', that I know of, so it's close to 'rok' - and the other are pronounced 'ra', 'gu', and 'na' respectively in on'yomi) when put together and they weren’t gonna wrote it in Katakana but – yeah, idk. Maybe I just didn’t find what this could possibly mean…
- Chinese dragons mostly have five claws whereas Japanese dragon mostly have three ! That’s why Draken and Mitsuya’s (and Manila/Bad Toman Mikey’s) tattoo has three claws :) ! Same thing for the Black Dragon’s flag ! I’m sure these (in red) are claws ! And those are wings (in blue), and that’s the body (green) (listen, either they can draw and it was a choice or none of them can and they did their best):
Tumblr media
- For 武臣(Takeomi) Nihongomaster gives ‘warrior, military, chivalry, arms’ as translation for 武 and ‘retainer, servant‘ or ‘an hereditary title, originally one of the two highest such titles, later demoted to sixth highest of eight for 臣. So the first kanji can be there to 1. refers to his title of ‘God of War, of warriors’ and/or 2. the black tortoise/dragon and the second kanji can be there to show how he felt down in disgrace ? He was the Vice-president of Black Dragon and then he wasn’t – he lost significance.
- to add to Benkei’s name (Arashi Keizo), I don’t have more to say about ‘Keizo’ but Arashi (荒師) – 荒 means rough, rude, wild and 師 : expert, master, professional, teacher, a religious figure. And Benkei (as in, the mythological figure) was a troublemaker (at least as a child) and a (rebellious) monk
Edit.: Saitō Musashibō Benkei (西塔武蔵坊弁慶). Well. This Kanji seems rather common. Or did Wakui do it on purpose ?..
- I didn’t find anything about Wakasa and it pisses me off. Nor about him, nor about his name (Ushiwakamaru aside), nor about ‘white leopards’ and how they’re seen in japan. (EDIT: figured out the 'white leopard' part somewhere in this post)
- If someone knows what temple South’s name refers to, please tell me. His name means temple of the south it has to be important. Him, Senju and Mikey were called ‘the three deities’ there’s must be something and i don’t see it i hate this
Edit: Ok, so at the very start Christian missionary (and Japanese Christians) practice their religion in 南蛮寺; Nanba-ji. (reminder: South Terano; 南 寺野). 南蛮, 'Nanban' means 'South Barbarians' and was used to describe Japan neighbor countries at first (Southern China, Southern Asia, Ryukyu Islands...). But then it got used to describe European foreigners - mostly Portuguese (and Spanish) people (explorers, missionaries, merchants). The word 南蛮 isn't commonly used in Japan nowadays
I also recommend y'all to go search about irl Rokuhara Tandai and the fact they had two chiefs, the less powerful one being the one from the south (of kyoto)
- Brahman is 梵 and means the unchanging, infinite, immanent and transcendent reality which is the divine ground of all matter, energy, time, space, being and everything beyong this Universe (hinduism). The nature of Brahman is described as transpersonal, personal and impersonal. In chinese (figuratively) it means quiet, paeceful, undisturbed.
Bonten is 梵天 (can be read as Brahma (not Brahman)) and is either an alternative form of Brahman or it can refer to Brahma, one of the three supreme deities and the Hindu god of creation.
Remembering Senju dies in Bonten timeline I – yeah. She was Mikey’s childhood friend if not Takeomi and Sanzu’s sister.

Everybody Is Dead...!
In the Metal Fight Beyblade verse, Rago is capable via Diablo Nemesis of absorbing the power of his opponent and gaining their abilities. He can also gain the abilities and power of everyone that opponent has fought from the beginning to the present.
Despite this, Pluto states that Nemesis has the power of every bey in the world by the time he and Rago do battle with the Legendary Bladers and company. It opens the door to a potential trickle down effect that would go on and on. It makes Rago's main ability one of the most horrifying in any verse.
This got me thinking about another potential trickle down that could be applied to another overpowered deity. This one being of light rather than destruction. Galeem. Due to the incredible amount of crossovers and cameos that can be traced via some path to someone within the Super Smash Bros verse, there's a disturbing amount of verses that are almost certainly reduced to non-existence alongside everyone that ever existed within that verse by the Lord of Light and it's "Everybody Is Dead" attack. That isn't counting restoring the verses back into existence and shuffling them while everyone in them become mindless slaves. Even the verses with stages, Mii outfits and music have potential to be completely screwed. A scenario like this would represent the absolute highest limit of Galeem's power...

The Night of Tento-okuri
I wrote this FF because I was annoyed that we didn't see Hien once the Doman restoration was complete and I made Dango one day and thought up a story lel. May contain spoilers from 4.0 to 6.1
The Doman Enclave had finally finished reconstructing, it may not have been restored to its former glory but it was nonetheless a ray of hope for its citizens, who had long suffered under Garlean cruelty. It was the festival of Tento-okuri, Edana and the others had just released lanterns into the night sky, it was a sight to behold. The children and maidens giggled and gasped at the beauty of the lamps lighting up The One River, Edana too stared out to the skyline wondering how far they'll make it. The elderly watched quietly and shared glances at one another, most likely glad that the war was over and they had their home back, that their children and grandchildren will be safe long after they were gone knowing that it was now in good hands, the hands of their lost and returned Prince and Lord, Hien. He was not here this evening, most likely working as usual at the Kienkan. Edana wished that he'd rest every now and again. Hien had not taken a day away from his desk or his sword since the day he was instated as the lord and protector of Doma.
Hien thought of and did nothing else, that he cared for his people was no surprise to anyone but he hardly cared for himself and his own health, Edana wondered if part of him felt guilty about what happened to his homeland, if so, she wished he didn't. He was just a child, he had no control over what happened. That pressure of restoring his homeland must've burdened his mind and heart all his life. Children don't forget things like that so easily. She shook the thoughts out of her head and no sooner had she turned from the river to leave the gazebo when she heard distant hoots and chants of "He's here! He's here! Lord Hien is come!" and "The Prince has arrived, praise Lord Hien!" as well as "The Crimson Phoenix! The Phoenix of Doma!" also "All hail, Hien The Just! Hien The Just!" until that was all she heard, that name stuck it seemed, it deafened all others. 'Hien The Just' rather fitting I think, Edana thought. He was making his way through the crowd towards the gazebo, greeting people and blessing children, making a jape or two to make them laugh, she looked at him with a soft smile on her face and when he finally arrived, she came down from the gazebo and bowed towards him. It was a deep bow, reminiscent of the traditional greeting of the samurai. Hien was flabbergasted and said "My dear friend, please! We have stood beside one another on the battlefield, bested foes together and shared our food and drink. We have fought as equals and faced our enemies together, you do not bow to me or anyone. Please, stand tall beside me as you always have." cheers and applause went throughout the Garden and eventually everyone bowed to Hien and Edana. She was flushed as cheers of "All hail The Radiant Hero and The Just Lord!" and "Bless The Liberator and The Prince!" went through the crowd. She should've been used to it by now but she wasn't. She'd been called many things; Warrior of Light, Blessed of Hydaelyn, Hydaelyn's Chosen, Hero of Eorzea, Bringer of Light, Savior of Ishgard, Liberator of Ala Mhigo and the Eastern Front, and so on. 'The Radiant Hero' had now been added to the list. She was also once called 'Stealer of Pants' and she thought that was a bit strange but she paid it no mind.
Hien went on the inspect the Enclave with Ihase, Mitsuba and others who worked day and night restoring the place, Edana stayed back by The Ten Thousand Stalls which were illuminated by little fairy lights. There was delectable, mouth-watering food in each stall and on each table; little popsicles in the shapes of animals for the children, Sake for the adults, and steaming hot-pot with dumplings, meat skewers, steak, bowls and bowls of Oden, pancakes and tea, so so much tea. Edana was made to have a big feast of Miso Soup with Tofu and Fish Stew with a side of Buuz from The Azim Steppe, Takoyaki which was glazed with a stick brown sauce that was sweet and slightly tangy and Doman Tea to wash it all down. No matter how much she ate, food wouldn't stop appearing on her plate. By the time she was done, her stomach felt as if it were about to burst so she got up, snuck away from the festivities and went to the harbour for a walk.
The peaceful calm of the river filled the air, creating a serenity that enveloped her. In the distance, Edana could hear the sounds of celebration, but it was the gentle flow of the river that captivated her attention. She could no longer see the lanterns, only mountains, and clouds that slightly glowed from the faint light of dawn. She was just walking about when she heard a voice say "Ah, what do you think they'll call this age?" she was startled. Despite having great instincts, she was caught off guard, her fatigue must have taken over her. It was Hien and he smirked at her reaction, he found it amusing. Hien held two sticks of Dango in his hands and handed one over to Edana, saying "These were my favourite things to eat growing up, I'd often pester my mother or Gosetsu to get some for me and get upset when they wouldn't. Hmm, they bring back memories." He took a bite and so did Edana, they were soft and chewy with a hint of sweetness. They were covered with sticky brown syrup and had faint tastes of cherry blossoms and matcha. "they're delicious!" Edana exclaimed and Hien smiled at her. "Well, you haven't answered my question." "What question? Oh-" She suddenly remembered what he had asked and brought herself back to reality, she had become so captivated by the sweetness of the dessert that she forgot she was having a conversation with Hien.
"Well, they could always call it 'The Reign of Hien the Just' or 'The Hienic Period.' You are their lord after all and they adore you with all their hearts. And there's more like...'The Dawn of the Crimson Phoenix!'" She smiled at him but he only had a soft grin on his face. "Well, I think they'll call it... 'The Age of the Radiant Hero.'" Edana looked at him, puzzled, "I wouldn't be looking over this land and its peoples if it weren't for you my friend, you have given us the chance to hope for a future again and I will forever be in your debt." He finally finished. Hien was standing very close to her, looking into her eyes, and for a moment her heart even skipped a beat. She knew he was most likely being sincere as usual and he was but the way he looked at her... she couldn't help but blush a little. She shook her head and responded "Hien... I may have been credited with liberating this land but it wasn't me who brought it back on its feet. People can free slaves, and topple corrupted power but very few of them actually stick around to build their nation back up. I didn't stay after the war, not for long anyway but you did. It's true, I helped with the reconstruction but if it weren't for you, your determination, and sheer will to fight for and save your people, none of them would be here. They have faith in you and that's why they stay. I may be remembered as the liberator of Doma or 'The Radiant Hero' but you, Hien, you will always be remembered as 'Prince Hien the Just,' a man who stood for Doma when no one else would along with his trusted companions Yugiri and Gosetsu." Hien looked away, it was clear he felt a bit flustered, but he added "you should add your name there too" whilst chuckling and Edana giggled as well "but truly Edana, if there's anything I can do for you, please let me know." Edana moved around a bit, playfully and said "well... I suppose there is one thing you may do for me."
"Oh? And what is it? If it is within my reach, I shall be more than happy to fulfil this wish."
"You owe me rest! You are working all the time! Every time I visit Doma, you are stuck inside the Kienkan, working on maps, letters, and plans, or out in Yanxia! Take some rest, I know so many people count on you and the burden can be hard to bear but isn't that more of a reason to take some time away?!" Hien wore that smile, the smile where his eyes turned downward slightly and he looked embarrassed and flustered at the same time. "Yes yes, I promise!" he jokingly bowed to her, as if asking for forgiveness and they giggled. By this point, they had finished eating and Edana said "You should probably get back, they'll be missing you" but Hien protested, "Nay, I doubt it. You said so yourself, I'm always in the Kienkan, they won't mind if I'm away. Let them have their fun, I'd rather stay here with you." He was looking at her again, with a smug smile on his face and his eyes were soft. Edana was blushing red; gosh, this man knows exactly how to make a woman blush "well then, I suppose... we can stay a little while longer."
They sat by the port and looked at the water and then the sky. The lanterns had almost disappeared by now and the sun was like to rise soon.

Happy birthday! Here's a question for you - I see you main ast/drg, why those two classes? And when you play other games (if you do) do you find yourself gravitating towards similar types of classes?
Thank you!
So when I was first starting to play FF14 back in 4.5 I believe (It was a few months out before Shadow Bringers was released) I was looking up what job I should play before making my character. At the time I was starting to move away from Overwatch as the game I was mainly playing which was a Mercy main in that and the first time I was a healer. I ended up liking being the healer so my thought process at the time was I wanted to be healer but I also like the idea of being able to apply buffs to people. Luckily, for me there was a job that did exactly that which was ast. Unfortunely, I couldn't be an ast right away I ended up taking white mage up as my job in ARR so I could learn how to heal in an MMO.
As for drg, I actually didn't pick it up until I caught up with the MSQ in 5.4 where I started to level everything. At the time, I had the plan to have Samurai as my dps class so I could flex if needed. The reason why I was planning on Samurai was because I played a little bit of it while I was going through the ARR Patches (which was before they did the story trim) where I use sam to clean up any MSQ outside of dungeons and queue any dungeons or trial as a whm.
I would have returned to sam after finishing but I also wanted to level everything. So I told myself "I should get everything to level 50 before picking up samurai again". So I picked up Dragoon and I found myself having fun with it so I ended up getting it to 80 before switching to another job and it became the job I dps on.
Now I run as a drg when I run extremes and savages with the group I normally play with since 6.0. The reason was we needed a melee dps for the extra damage and charge on LB. Also I found that if I ran as an ast my cohealer, who is a whm, our healing overlapped too much and we would have needed to coordinated a bit better so we didn't waste our bigger spells.
As far as finding myself gravitating towards jobs, it depends on the game. For example, I usually fight with lances in the Rune Factory games. I did run a Demonologist and an Abolisher in Archeage way back in 2015. Demonologist being more like a black mage and Abolisher is more like a Paladin. I played a bit of Blade & Soul which I was a kung fu master which would be more like a monk. I also played Aion way back in the 2010, which I was a sorcerer, which was a mage class.
Thanks for the ask @sasslett

TVTROPES + ARASAKA CORP.
Doom Troops: Fittingly enough, their private army resembles armored samurai, even complete with menpō (samurai facial armor).
Evil, Inc.: It's a corporation built on the foundations of Japanese Imperialism and world domination with the ultimate goal of creating a form of immortality only accessible by the richest people in the world.
Family Business: The Arasaka family are still in charge, with Saburo at the top and his descendants Yorinobu, Hanako and Michiko on the board.
Mega-Corp: They are the biggest and the most powerful corporation in the story, which work in many industries, from private security to software development. The Nightcity.LOVE promotional website emphasizes this — scrolling through it eventually leads to a fake "pop-up" advertising their home security systems, and the bottom of the page shows that the entire site was built on Arasaka software.
N.G.O. Superpower: With the United States government being a mere shadow of its former self, they practically run Night City. The promotional lore book establishes that the threat of their intervention in the Second American Civil War was enough to scare the American military away from Night City.
One Nation Under Copyright: Just as Militech runs the NUSA, the Arasakas are functionally the royal family of Japan - Saburo is not called the 'Emperor' for nothing. Night City is halfway between a corporate freeport and a Japanese imperial colony.
Red and Black and Evil All Over: Red and black are the Arasaka corporate colors, in case you needed any further indication that they're the primary antagonistic faction.
Repressive, but Efficient: Arasaka is one of the most powerful corporations in the world with incredible wealth, superior technology, and some of the nicest buildings in the otherwise hellish Night City. They are also the world's primary economic and political power, only rivaled by Militech. Its members live extremely well and much of the world does its best to become its employees while its existing employees tend to be fanatical in its service.
Satanic Archetype: The aptly called "The Devil" ending has Arasaka (through Hellman or Takemura at the order of Hanako) offer V a contract: their mortal life for a promise of eternal life. V has no guarantee that Arasaka will uphold their end of the bargain (engrams currently don't have any rights) and it's confirmed in the official strategy guide discussing this ending that V would "spend eternity ensnared as an engram inside Mikoshi." This fits into the whole Deal with the Devil motif this ending has. Other than that, Arasaka has a snake motif and their main colors are red and black (though there are some instances where characters associated with Arasaka wear white, like Hanako's dress or Takemura's suit in "The Devil", harking back to Lucifer's literal meaning, "Light Bringer".

Metal Bringer adds PS5 version - Gematsu
Gematsu Source
Tumblr media
Roguelite action game Metal Bringer will launch for PlayStation 5 alongside its previously announced PC (Steam) version in 2024, publisher PLAYISM and developer Alphawing announced.
Here is an overview of the game, via PLAYISM:
About
Samurai Bringer, Alphawing’s previous game, is a Japanese roguelite action game released in 2022, where you play as Susanoo and defeat world-famous Japanese samurai as you collect combat techniques to create your own fighting style.

Stand - DragonForce
Tumblr media
User: Nariko Date Reference: British power metal band Dragonforce Stand Type: Close-Range Power / Wearable Appearance: DragonForce is not entirely under Riko's control, especially in his samurai form. Appearing almost ghost-like, with perpetual crimson lightning crackling around his form, the katana he caries is the Kunikane, which Masamune Date would carry into war, not only as his best combat partner but fortune bringer as well. DragonForce takes on another appearance, that of black and gold armor that Riko wears to fight and which I will also draw at some point when I can figure out how to draw armor. Abilities: DragonForce's main ability is that he can absorb the heat and static from his surroundings, powering up to take hits from both close and ranged blows. When wearing the armor, it protects Nariko and gives her immense strength- her blade can cut through cars, into stone and cement. Her speed is hardly matched as she can slice bullets in half as well as allow her to dodge most attacks.
Storming the Burning Fields: DragonForce does a horizontal sweep, then leaps and slams the sword into the ground, causing an electrical shockwave that shoots forward in three jagged electrical lines.
Through the Fire and Flames Once enough heat and static has been absorbed from the surroundings, DragonForce will let out a mighty roar; fire will explode from the area of the mouth (or Riko’s mouth) in a mighty stream, engulfing everything in its path in flames and lightening.
Dawn Over a New World DeagonForce can forcefully absorb all heat within a 3 meter radius, pulling it in so fast, it causes a flash-freeze effect within mere moments.
Weakness: In colder or damper areas, DragonForce has to depend less on its heat-absorbing abilities; however, to compensate for this, the armor will draw on the user's- in this case, Nariko’s -stamina. In this scenario, the Stand's speed is required to finish the battle as quickly as possible as it is a double-edged sword.
Other Notes: DragonForce first manifested for Masamune Date when he was a child and he almost always used it in its armor form. Since then, DragonForce appears once in every generation of Date- the user then becomes the next head of the family. Some claim that DragonForce is the spirit of Masamune passing on through his line from generation to generation to protect it.
DragonForce’s reach is about 3 meters- the sword can reach further.
