Part Four - Baker Steve/Rock Star Eddie wrong number AU - Final chapter/complete
Part One
Part Two
Part Three
The kids are quiet in the back.
There ended up being ten of them. Once Steve realized that eight people would not fit in his car, he talked to Nancy. Nancy sighed out of her nose the way she does, but Steve already knew she was going to say yes, especially with Mike ready to literally throw himself at her feet to beg.
And then obviously Jonathan had to come along. Turns out he actually, really, genuinely likes Corroded Coffin and was as excited as the kids to learn Steve had tickets. Well, excited in that understated, no energy for anything ever way that Jonathan has about him.
So yeah, Mike went with Nancy and Jonathan, which meant Dustin and Will got pushed in that direction. Steve could breathe a sigh of relief; that left him with Max, El, and Lucas. The sensible ones. The nice ones.
If you ignore how scathing Max could be. So the girls have an earbud each from Max’s phone and Lucas seems to be content to stare out of the window while Max stoically pretends they aren’t holding hands.
It’s cute.
Robins’ looking at the side of his face, Steve can feel it. He raises an eyebrow, ‘what?’
Robin raises both her eyebrows tips her whole head in question, ‘how you feeling?’
Steve shrugs, tilts his head dismissively. The he rethinks his answer for a more honest one, lifting one hand off the wheel to, out of sight of the kids, make a rocking gesture, ‘so-so.’
Robin nods sympathetically, seeming content with his answer, ‘that’s fair.’
He’d told Robin, obviously, that he’d hit it off with a customer and developed a monster crush and hopefully fingers and toes crossed that customer liked him back. He had not told her who Eddie actually is though, because even though it’s Robin and Steve did once get her to look at his dick because he thought something looked weird, (“It looks weird Steve, it’s a dick.” “Yeah, but weird like, see a doctor weird?”) and they have literally no secrets between them...this isn’t his secret.
Until tonight.
And Steve had to tell her just because tonight he might...actually get to meet Eddie. For real.
Once she’d finished squealing and beating him with a pillow, she’d understood.
So.
Steve’s kind of got a hurricane worth of butterflies in him.
Steve has detailed instructions and a QR code in the form of the email he printed from Eddie. All the kids laughed at him because ‘no one prints tickets any more, Steve’ but he was nervous, okay? And phone batteries can die or the internet could not work or. Yeah. He wanted a sure thing.
So they all go to the gate that the email says, and when the QR code gets scanned the woman with the scanner points off to the side, “can you wait there please,” and then pulls out a walkie talkie and speaks into it, “Steve Harrington has arrived.”
There’s a blast of static which, presumably, she understands, and then she goes back to doing her job. Less than five minutes later, five minutes filled with everyone but Robin demanding, “what the actual fuck, Steven,” someone else arrives. A guy with a tablet, a headset, and a very, very 100% done look on his face shows up. He’s wearing Corroded Coffin merch and asks the group to follow along. Which they do.
They’re led along white washed corridors, clearly under the stadium, and get dropped off in a room. A room with a TV on, and snacks and drinks, “this is all for you, go for it, I’ll be back before the support goes on.” And the dude leaves.
The girls, priorities sorted, lay into the snacks. Dustin and Mike are insisting again, “what the fuck is going on?” and getting ever more obnoxious about it.
Steve, very smugly, informs them that he, “knows a guy,” and settles down with the girls and a bag of Cheetos. He’s going to enjoy this while it lasts, watching Dustin splutter over it is very satisfying.
Steve wasn’t expecting any of this. He’s playing it as cool as he can, but he was expecting to get tickets, see the show, call Eddie after and maybe get to see him. He wasn’t expecting to be perched in seats the have been put at the side of the stage, just for them. Someone keeps checking on them, to bring them drinks and snacks.
He’s probably, right now, less than fifty feet from Eddie Munson. Eddie, who's wearing torn up skin tight jeans, shit kicker boots and nothing else. Eddie, who has his guitar slung at his back as he roars into the microphone.
The crowd are going batshit.
Steve’s slowly going insane. When the stage lights finally, finally go down, Steve thinks, this is it. He’s going to meet Eddie. Now is his moment.
The lights come back up, they play an encore. It’s four fucking songs long. Steve’s pulling his hair out as is genuinely concerned he might be sick.
The kids don’t notice; they’ve all just been given gift bags brimming with merch.
The band come over, once they’re finally done. They’re red faced and sweaty and the kids are all vibrating with excitement but Steve doesn’t care, he just doesn’t, because he can very clearly see Eddie leaving the other way. Disappearing off the other side of the stage. Away from Steve.
Well, fuck that.
Gareth is standing practically right next to Steve, signing the kids merch and talking to them, “where is Eddie?”
All the other members of the band look at Steve, and all of them look sheepish as fuck. “He’s, uhm, you know, busy.”
“Busy,” Steve replies, deadpan. And then it occurs to him. Eddie doesn’t know, so they don’t know. They think they’re keeping Eddie’s secret. “I know. I know it’s him. I want to see him.”
Every member of the band visibly relaxes, “see, I fucking told you he’s worked it out-” Jeff starts.
“Eddie is such a shitty liar,” Gareth agrees.
“Yes, he is. And I know it’s him, and I’ve known for ages, and now he’s…” Steve gestures weakly in the direction Eddie disappeared in.
“Having a meltdown in a greenroom because he thinks you’re going to hate him when you realize he’s been lying to you,” Jeff supplies helpfully.
“What the fuck is happening??” Dustin screeches. Steve pushes him away with a hand on the forehead.
Gareth laughs, “come on man. One way to settle this and honestly, I am so ready for it. I am done with his pining.”
Steve perks up immediately, jogging along after, “he’s been pining?”
Steve is left with a thumbs up, standing in an empty hallway, looking at a very, very unassuming door. He lifts his hand to knock but...can’t.
It doesn’t feel right. It doesn’t feel like...like them. So after a few moments of indecision, Steve jogs a little way along the hall and then pulls out his phone, calling Eddie.
“Hey, sweetheart.”
“Hi, Eds.”
“You enjoy the show?”
“I did, yeah, thank you, so so much. The kids loved it too. And all the, you know, extra stuff, it was all amazing...but I had, kind of hoped I’d get to see you tonight?”
“Yeah,” Eddie starts slowly. Painfully slowly, “about, about that-”
“Look,” Steve sighs, now genuinely terrified that this is it, and it comes out a little sharper than he means it too but, he's...kind of scared that this thing is going to die before it even starts, “if you don’t want to meet up, I get it.”
“No. No Steve, it isn’t that. It really, really isn’t, it’s just...I might have, withheld something from you. Slightly.”
“Is it that, you're Eddie Munson, Corroded Coffin’s front man?”
“You see, the thing is, I’m actually, Eddie, like the lead singer guy of-wait. Wait. Hold up. You- Steve. Stevie. Honey. What?”
“I know who you are Eddie. I’ve known for a while. I’m outside. The room. Like, I'm standing outside the door.”
“Oh,” Eddie breathes. And then...nothing.
“Eds?” Steve asks, tentatively.
“I was just...you don’t know what it’s like Steve. To be this famous. No one just...treats me like a normal guy. Not ever. Everyone wants something from me, you know? Everyone just thinks I’m rich and famous and I can do things for them. They only ever want to talk about the music and the shows and the fame and...I just...I’m...someone to fuck for bragging rights, not because anyone actually cares...no one. No one ever treats me, like, well, like a person. And you have, Stevie, this whole time you’ve just...been normal. I want someone who likes me for me... And I missed normal so much, and I thought, I was scared that once you found out I’d loose that but...you’ve known this whole time?”
Steve’s heart is kind of breaking for Eddie, and he wants to comfort him, show him nothing’s changing, but he isn’t going to force anything on him, this is Eddie’s choice, “yeah. I’ve known...pretty much the whole time yeah. You’re a...well, absolutely atrocious liar, Eddie Munson.”
“Yeah?” and Jesus he sounds like he’s laughing and crying a little, “are you, did you say you were outside? Are you still-”
“I’m here, right outside the door.”
“I. I, okay. Yeah. Yeah.” And then Eddie hands up.
And for a really long, really long minute, Steve worries that’s it. Eddie’s not going to open the door and-
The door opens slowly, Eddie peeking out at Steve. Steve can’t help laughing. And then Eddie laughs, coming the rest of the way out, rubbing the back of his neck self-consciously. His eyes are red rimmed, like he’s been crying, and Steve’s desperately trying to blink back the tears himself, “can I hug you?”
“Yeah,” Eddie’s voice is rough from the gig, much more noticeable now in person, “yeah, I’d like that.”
Steve doesn’t hesitate, throwing his arms around Eddie’s shoulders and pulling him tight close. Eddie’s more tentative, wrapping his arms around Steve’s waist and then...nuzzling into the side of Steve’s neck. Eddie takes a deep breath and...relaxes against Steve.
They stand there, hugging, Steve’s face buried in Eddie’s sweaty curls, swaying gently together in the quiet hallway.

Irrational Attachment
I directed the delivery guy to put the last high-tech crate next to the others in our very full cargo bay, and I breathed a quiet sigh of relief. This was a big order. I noted the final count with a good old-fashioned Earth pencil.
The delivery guy, a fellow human much beefier than I was, smirked at the pencil and clipboard. “Really living in the space age, there,” he said. “Don’t you guys have tablets and scanners?”
“Oh sure,” I replied. “But one has a cracked screen and the other's got a faulty battery. You know how it is.”
His response was eclipsed by the arrival of the sparkly purple conglomeration of limbs that was my coworker Zhee. I was used to bug aliens by now, but I was amused to see the brawny human edge back a step.
Zhee didn’t notice. “What is ‘pack bonding’?” he demanded, clicking to a stop and looking at the two of us expectantly. “They were telling jokes that made little sense.” He waved a pincher arm over his shoulder. “Then it occurred to me that I have a pair of qualified humans here I can ask. Why do people joke about humans caring too much?”
The delivery guy straightened up, all bluster. “Oh, it’s a bunch of radiator wash, really. Lots of species are social. Really, we wouldn’t all have space ships out here if everybody couldn’t cooperate!”
“Well, sure,” I said. “But there’s a difference between cooperating and getting attached. Didn’t you have a teddy bear as a kid?”
“Yeah, as a kid,” he scoffed. “We’re talking about grownups here.”
“Grownups do it too,” I told him, barreling on as he started to object. “We give names and personalities to ships and cars and space probes. We put googly eyes on machinery, and keep pet rocks. We build people out of snow, lending them our own clothes, and we’re sad when they melt away. We have ancient history of granting a bear military rank, and recent history of doing the same to a cleaning droid. We care about things.”
He was still shaking his head and looking stubborn, so I pulled the pencil from my pocket. I held it in front of his face with an intense stare.
“I can tell you that this pencil’s name is Steven,” I said. “Then I can do this—” I snapped it in half. “—And I can watch a little bit of you die inside.”
His expression was that of a person shaken to his core. “What the f— Why would you do that??”
I looked down at the broken pencil. “You can’t tell me humans don’t care.”
Zhee clicked a pincher. “But it’s just a pencil.”
“It was,” I said. “Now it’s Steven.” I pulled a roll of tape from a different pocket. “And now I have to nurse him back to health and apologize.”

I am not a baby!! (yes you are)
(Ao3) (Masterpost) (Previous) (Next)
(Chapter 17 long ass chappy!!)
As expected, his plan worked! Dami managed to scare off the other Leviathan! The shallows were finally safe again! For the time being at least. Danny paced around his base, celebrating this victory with a thawed peeper. He pondered throwing one to Dami, but they still had yet to make any attempt of eating any fish. Plus, the leviathan might see his offering as an opportunity to chow down on him. They were temporary allies through a shared enemy, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t a potential snack.
Maybe he should be more concerned about the existence of a third species of leviathan. After all, the existence of three suggests there might be more. Scratch that there were more and that he was certain of. Dami was a graft of two species and Taser fish wasn’t the parent neither was the giant beta fish-looking guy from lurking near Lifepod three. . According to the scanners on his Lifepod, this was a planet mostly composed of water it’d make sense there’d be more nightmare death creatures swimming around in the depths of the ocean. He could easily avoid them if he tried hard enough. A quantum detonation, however, was a threat he couldn’t run from or throw hands with. At least not effectively that is.
Danny looked down at his message log with a wince. He’d take more nightmare-death fish over the Aurora exploding any day of the week. At least he could fight the leviathans. How was he supposed to fight the genetic meltdown of a peeper blasted with the radioactive energy of a small power plant? It would be like Chernobyl all over again and he wouldn’t have the industrial equipment to clean up the fallout.
The nuclear power generator was one of the blueprints stripped from his PDA by the crash, as were the disposal protocols that came with it. He had no way to fabricate anything but a primitive water filter. It wasn’t even one of the grayed-out blueprints like the battery charger; it just didn’t exist in his PDA. He wouldn’t be surprised if baby mode blocked the recipe out. It let him build a knife but it wouldn’t let him play with a nuclear reactor the PDA Truly was the most responsible piece of technology on this planet.
God speed Alterra…
Danny snickered, swiping through the screens of his PDA looking desperately for something he could do to help. Was there anything he could do? There wasn’t a blueprint for a radiation suit in his PDA but he was a Fenton! They got irradiated for breakfast. He could at least try, to fix things for both him and the survivors.
Taking out his sea glide Danny shot out his sea base like a speeding bullet. Time is limited and it was slipping through his fingers with every moment he wasted anxiously waiting for the perfect opportunity to help. There had to be at least one life pod that landed in near the Aurora someone who was either stuck in their pods or getting blasted by the bad vibes of the Aurora’s drive core.
Dami watched him intently from the edge of the shallows. Clicking teeth and a worried croon from the leviathan as Danny crept closer to where the crash site should be. He only swam a few feet before Dami bolted from his spot in the sand hands attempting to nudge him back to the shallows.
With puffed-up cheeks, Danny nipped at the other darting around the leviathan's tail to further his journey. He couldn’t go back to the shallows. He wouldn’t sit there uselessly until things literally blew up in his face. Dami didn’t know how dangerous things could get. He didn’t know the catastrophic consequences this could have on his home.
The waters were murky sand yet to settle and debris scattered across the sand. Any plant life the biome had previously cultivated was crushed, uprooted, and torn apart by the impact. The wrecks in the crash site made the shallows look clean. Metal torn apart like playdough were scattered throughout clouded waters. Not a single place was clear of debris, a burning sensation in his palms the longer he swam.
A stabbing pain like a jackhammer to the skull hit him like a truck. Nausea broiled in his stomach, bile rising up his throat. Danny didn’t stop swimming not when the edges of his vision began to blur not when Dami desperately tried to push him back. Snapping teeth and swiping through the water in an attempt to intimidate him into turning back. Danny didn’t care, he… he had to do something, he had to try.
His PDA screamed, a glitching image that looked concerningly similar to what you’d find on one of the barrels in his parents' lab flashed on screen. It sounded painful, the tablet flashing like a strobe light and a shrieking noise filling his ears. Any words jumbled, thousands of audio cues playing over each other and meshing into of mess of trailed-off screams cut off when the screen went blank.
Fuck.
Shit… That wasn’t a good sign, was it? His pounding head made it hard to truly wrap his head around what just happened. If death would be permanent this time would anyone even know what happened to him? Every distress call he’d responded to every destroyed life pod he found… All of them were gone, reduced to nothing, only a splotch of red if they were lucky. If his PDA was broken how would his family know what happened to him?
Dami screeched, a noise so high-pitched it made his ears ring. The leviathan wrapped his entire body around Danny, his claw barring him from escaping. Panic swirled through his mind before a lower, spine-tingling roar broke through the sea. Peaking through the gaps in Dami’s claws, Danny’s heart jumped into his throat.
A leviathan with a sickly gray body circled them. Pitch black eyes that held something primal. There wasn’t the gleam of intelligence in its behavior, just gnashing teeth and snapping mandibles. Decorated with red, muscle so defined you’d think that was all that made up the creature’s body.
Maybe it was the headache amplifying the noise but the guttural sounds the creature constantly let out were like a nuclear bomb. His eyes stung all he could do was watch as Dami snapped his tail like a whip, slashing at their attacker. Yellow blood spilled into the water and Danny couldn’t tell if it was Dami’s.
Saying their attacker was aggressive would be an understatement. Nothing seemed to deter the creature. Dami’s strikes only seemed to piss it off further. Every impact from Dami’s tail pulled a furious shriek from the predator. It circled them like a shark, it didn’t care that Dami was much larger it just wanted to eat.
Pointing his scanner through the gaps in Dami’s claws seconds felt like hours as the tool worked its magic. On swing from this worm on steroids and he was triple dead! The thing could swallow him whole with no room left for seconds!
At least it would be a cool death. “Danny Fenton, cause of death; Radiation poisoning and fish bites,” He’d be proud to have that written in his obituary. If anyone survived to collect and fix his PDA it’d be one hell of a conversation starter.
His skin burned like he’d pressed himself against the surface of the sun. His dive suit felt like molten lava and his air tank felt like it was filled with smoke. Dami thrashed slapping the steroid fish into the sand.
They couldn’t keep going. If both he and his PDA were being affected by the radiation then so was Dami. Their attacker wouldn’t hesitate to finish them off if the radiation didn’t melt their internal organs into a shapeless goop. They needed a route to the Aurora that wasn’t surrounded by a toxic death field. But when the death field originated from the Aurora there wasn’t much he could do. There was no safe path to the Aurora so long as he was without a radiation suit.
Danny slapped his palms against Dami’s almost transparent skin. His oxygen running thin, he tugged the leviathan’s fins until the other turned to him. Hopefully, as another sentient creature, he could understand the plea of “Let’s get the fuck out of here before we both die a slow excruciating death,”
Thankfully, he understood. As Dami snapped his tail at the creature one last time grabbing Danny by his oxygen tank and boosting away from the crash zone. The two of them cut through the water easily gliding faster than his seaglide could at its base.
Dami wasn’t as muscular as their attacker but he made up for it in size, speed, and intelligence. If they’d stayed to finish the fight Dami was the obvious choice to bet on. He would’ve won if he hadn’t been focused on guarding Danny from being eaten.
When they finally reached the shallows Danny could’ve kissed the sand. He’d never been so relieved to be in the kiddy pool of this planet's ocean. He felt like crying, he’d never abandon his beloved biome of coral tubes again!
Thwack!
A Peeper charged into him, hitting him in the cheek full force. Was this revenge for the fridge? Dami let out what he could only assume was the fish equivalent of a laugh, gently batting the little blue fish away. Danny didn’t have the energy to smack the leviathan for this offense nor did he have the strength to chase the Peeper who attacked him. Sleep never seemed so sweet before but he knew if he slept now he might not wake up to see the light of day again.
Danny watched the faint yellow sparkles trailing behind the fish as it rubbed itself against plants and rocks. More social than the normal peepers swimming around. If you could count tackling everything in sight as a social behavior. Danny scrunched his nose at the offensive fish rubbing the glitter-like substance off his face. If this was how Peepers tried to make friends he’d have to say it’s ineffective.
Danny turned back to the leviathan, yellow blood oozing from long thin scratches running along his tail. He frowned, that was his fault, wasn’t it? Dami had tried to stop him, likely knowing what lurked near the crash and Danny blatantly ignored him. He’d been naive, thinking he knew better than the literal native who’d likely lived on this planet his entire life. A stupid thing to do even with the risk of an explosion. Especially with the risk of an explosion, a deeper part of his psyche nagged, pulling the bile halfway up his throat.
What if someone had been with him? Someone had been with him! Dami wasn’t indestructible. What if that thing managed to kill them both? What if he’d gotten Dami killed just by leading them in there? Radiation poisoning was an all but painless death. Vomiting your internal organs in their liquidized form wasn’t a fate he wished on anyone let alone an ally.
The visible injuries on the leviathan seemed to be minor. If the nonchalant way the leviathan lifted Danny to the surface with a clawed hand told him anything. It was good to know they had a mutual understanding that air was a necessity for him. Accidentally being drowned by an ally wasn’t on his list of ideal deaths. Maybe if this were a horror movie he’d be more welcoming to the idea so he could haunt people more than he usually did.
Danny tapped Dami’s forehead alerting the leviathan to his next movements into the kelp forests. Dami stayed where he was in the shallows, keeping a keen eye on Danny from afar. He swallowed the bile rising up his throat keeping up his routine of bribing the stalkers. They were like gator-shaped trolls. Demanding a toll of fish snacks before they’d ensure a safe passage through the shallows. Some of the bolder ones approached him with open mouths. He didn’t even have to chuck it at them!
“Warning, leviathan class creature in the area,” He yanked out his PDA brushing his fingers against the screen. The tablet's light was dim but it was working. He could swipe through the tabs and see what the fuck the AI was talking about. It’s a little late for a warning about the leviathan at the crash site.
Danny swiped through the tabs of his PDA landing on the new data entry he’d risked his ass for. Apparently, the empty-eyed fuck they’d been assaulted by was a reaper leviathan. All muscle, tiny brain, and no sense of morality. Danny didn’t know what kind of morals his PDA expected from a fish like that. Lancer always told him not to judge a book by its cover but holy fuck, if Vlad stood next to one of those guys he might actually look decent.
The warning popped up again and Danny’s anxiety spiked. Did a reaper follow them? Was it the Leviathan he’d seen back at life pod three? If it was the stalkers might get to him before he could get close enough to strike him.  He pulled out his blade glancing around the kelp forest. His eyes landed on a glimpse of blue poking out from behind an arch of stone.
It was talking about Dami, wasn’t it?
Dami was following him, hiding it quite poorly. It was honestly, embarrassing he hadn’t noticed it sooner. The leviathan was out of his depth, any camouflage the other could have possibly had was squandered by his size. It was probably his size that intimidated everything into not acknowledging him.
Danny ignored the leviathan, mostly to spare the other’s ego. Danny was like a needle in a haystack while Dami was like an elephant in the chicken coop and if this were a game of hide and seek Danny would’ve demolished him by now.
Using his blade to cut off pieces of creep vine Danny pressed the kelp together, stashing as much as possible into his bag. The fiber mesh he’d make from this would make decent bandages if he couldn’t make the blankets he wanted.
Would bandages even work on Dami? Tying gauze around the leviathan's tail just seemed restrictive. The language barrier would ensure Dami wouldn’t understand he was trying to help. Dami would just see it as Danny mistakeingly assuming he could finish the Leviathan off after a risky encounter with a reaper. He winced, getting slapped to death by an ally would be such a lame way to die.
There had to be some other way to ensure Dami didn’t die of sepsis or whatever other infections a giant fish teenager could contract. Who was equipped to deal with this kind of thing? A vet or a marine biologist because Danny lacked the qualifications for both professions. He was two for two when it came to dying, any medical advice he could give was just a health hazard.
Danny swam back to the shallows, Dami clumsily following him. He wasn’t bleeding anymore and Danny could vaguely make out yellow scabs clotting over his injuries. Only time would tell if that was a good sign or not. If there was anything wrong with Dami he’d find a way to fix it. It was his moral obligation to do so.
Dami protected them from a reaper and the oversized eel! While he’s pretty sure Dami knew electric fish, he still slapped him into pissing off! Making sure the leviathan didn’t die was the least he could do even if he was friends with the electric fish secretly.
The “fight” was far too similar to the ones he’d have Dani or Jazz. Less a fight to the death and more like one of the lectures he’d get from Jazz for doing something stupid. Not antagonistic like the fights he’d have with Vlad. It was more like when Dani would hide his model rockets in the walls when he pissed her off. Dami and the electric fish acted painfully similar to how he acted with his siblings.
Would he ever see them again?
Shaking his head, a croon rippled through shallow water. Dami stared at him with glowing eyes, an expression as concerned as a gigantic fish could get. He crooned again, louder this time. A call probably evolved to be heard in deeper open waters. It wasn’t as effective in the shallows, he could hear Dami anywhere in the shallows no matter how quiet the other tried to be. All this call served to do now was to add fuel to the fire of his splitting headache.
Danny held his head in his hands, Dami taking this as a cue to be a bit quieter. The next croon he let out was softer barely audible but he got his point across. This guy was weird. He fussed over Danny more than he fussed over himself to the point he cramped himself in the shallows to stay here with him. He belonged deeper down, ancients he’d be happier deeper down but he just…stayed here? Sure he tended to follow Danny whenever he had the opportunity but Danny had mostly stuck to the shallows so far. Was this the fish equivalent to tourism? Had the crash screwed over his home so badly he couldn’t live there anymore.
Danny glanced back to Dami, the leviathan looked perfectly fine but he didn’t exactly have another member of his species to compare to. It was like he was perfectly comfortable acting as Danny’s personal guard dog.
….
He was like a dog to this guy, wasn’t he?
Looking down at his tiny hand Danny squeezed them into fists. Pathetic, hardly a threat at all. Dami’s a teenager and Danny is a itty bitty squishy thing smaller than any of the other survivors. He was like a stray puppy to this guy! Like a little Yorkie happy and cute.
He scoffed choking on the mouthful of seawater that flooded into his mouth at the action. He wasn’t anyone’s pet! He was the farthest thing from a pet! Sure, he might’ve watched Dami fight like it was a Pokémon battle but he still thought of the guy as a sentient being. It all made sense now, this dude thought he was an animal! There was no way to correct him either! They didn’t speak the same language nor was there a way for them to learn at the moment.
How would he even go about speaking to him anyway? What was he supposed to say? “Hey, dude sorry for catfishing you but I’m not your pet,” He’d probably be dismissed and then be treated like a parrot.
Ancients, he’s too nauseous to deal with this shit. Dealing with anything else but this would be better than this. He was stuck with a teenager who was convinced he got a new puppy… No wonder he tapped on the window like a small child seeing the fish tank at the dentist for the first time.
At least he wasn’t the type of teenager to “Play” rough with his pets. Back home Sam went ape shit on a group of senior boys who kept shooting BBs at one of the oldest boy’s cats. Danny had yet to be manhandled, thrown, or shot at, nor was there any attempt to put him down after he bit him multiple times.
Maybe he was more like a cat?
He wouldn’t degrade himself into being anyone’s catboy. The thought alone made him want to cry. Tucker would never let him hear the end of it if he found out. The hacker would have all the ammo he needed to take revenge for being called a furry so often. He couldn’t let this happen! There’s no way he’d allow himself to be treated like a pet. If Dami ever tried to pet him he’d get stabbed! Puffing up his chest, Danny turned foot and swam back to his base.
His to-do list was completely and utterly fucked over. Fixing the Aurora had been his top priority but he couldn’t fix it without a radiation suit and a distraction for the buff death fish! It was just like back home, the moment he sat down to knock something off his ever-expanding to-do list the entire universe ganged up on him!
{Proposed Desagi seabase (200m)}
The signal caught his attention. It was on one of the main tabs of his PDA along with the signals for the Lifepod he’s aware of. On the front page of his to-do list, as a sub-task of finding survivors was searching for the Desagi sea base. Scrunching his face Danny pondered. If the seabase even existed there could be something down there to help him. Even if he didn’t find a survivor, the information he could gain from this could be crucial to figuring out what the hell is going on with this planet.
With the date of Paul Torgal’s environmental log, he could tell the Desagi had been on this planet within the first month of communications with the ship had been lost. Had they ever left? Did they crash or land here willingly for some unknown reason? Was what happened to the Aurora connected to the Desagi? Hopefully, he’d get his answers when he went down to explore.
Staring blankly at the signal, he studied the coordinates and the environmental log thoroughly. The cave he’d entered previously had multiple entrances. It was only logical if members of the Desagi were to build a seabase they’d build it close to an entrance. It was further into the cave system than the entrance he’d swam through had led him.
He could search around for another cave entrance closer to the signal but it was still 200m down. His lower oxygen needs gave him a leg up but it could only carry him so far. His ability kept him from drowning in shallow water but anything deeper than 100m and it was game over, no restarts or save points!
With his current oxygen tank, he wouldn’t have the time to find the seabase let alone explore it. When the entire point of finding the seabase was exploring, it made his air tank seem about as useful as a warning label on a stick of dynamite. Any idiot with common sense could tell going down there without some kind of plan for oxygen was a sheer way to drown. While his common sense was sparse he still had it.
The blueprints for a seamoth were still missing so he’d have to go on a scavenger hunt for not only the blueprint but the resources to build it. Danny could only wonder how the Seamoth would be altered for him. The seaglide was made slightly smaller but what was it supposed to do about what was essentially just an underwater car? Pedal extensions, A controller, maybe just an autopilot? That was all he was willing to work with, a booster seat was too humiliating for his bruised ego to take.
Along with a seamoth he’d need to upgrade his tank and replace the batteries for his seaglid. The seaglide drained power like spectra drained the happiness from children.
Digging through his storage lockers he scavenged the glass he needed for his new air tank. He fed the fabricator the ingredients waiting eagerly as the light show began. A loud jarring noise sounded from his PDA the moment the new air tank touched his hands.
“New blueprint acquired.” The robotic voice drawled.
Danny glanced down at the tablet, staring slack-jawed at the appearance of the rebreather on his list of blueprints. Convenient, he didn’t dare question the PDA’s choice of only giving him the blueprint now instead of after all the other times he almost died. It was painfully easy to gather the materials he needed. With the creepvine he’d collected earlier he was set to make the rebreather.
Now all he had to do was get past Dami…
Why did he have a feeling that was going to be easier said than done?

“Your blood pressure is good and the blood test came back correct.” The droid says, praising you with its weird chanting voice.
The droid takes the blood pressure monitor off your arm as you remain silent, eyes focused on the ceiling.
“We will do an ultrasound.” The medic comes to you, their datapad in hand.
Another medical examination…
Since you all embarked on Thrawn’s ISD, the Chimaera, Thrawn's first order of business was putting you and Thaishi in the medical bay, subjecting you to numerous medical examinations.
Clearly he didn’t trust in the Frog people medicine a lot, and now that you had access to modern medicine again he immediately forced you two to run a battery of tests. Blood tests, shots, weighting, fetal heart rates, glucose tests, ultrasounds, scanners... The whole nine yards.
Thaishi was absolutely terrified. She never saw any droids, never saw the white blouses of the medics, never got any shots, never saw all of this machinery beeping all around and she was thrown in this white sterile room suddenly, getting stripped down to have nodes of a cardiac monitor on her little chest, getting manipulated all around to get her vitals checked. You would have run to her to console her if you weren’t plugged in to so many monitors yourself! But Thrawn stepped in, entering the bay after his long shift he immediately got to embrace and comfort her, hugging her on his laps when she gots her shots. The little sweetheart never saw a medical needle before, even less have it piercing her skin. She cried and whined with big tears on her cheeks, begging her father to not let the droids or the weird humans touch her.
Thrawn cradled her, soothed her patiently with his deep melodious voice, singing her a Cheuhn lullaby to dry her tears and took care to explain to her in detail every medical procedure that was happening for her to understand and calm down. He remained with her during the end of her examination, holding her little hand or keeping her on his lap.
Unfamiliar with Chiss vitals, the medics compiled every data and asked Thrawn’s opinion on the results, making sure Thaishi was healthy and wasn’t at risk with the new germs her organism never encountered before.
The results were very comforting, she was strong and healthy, only a very mild-case of flu resulting from the encounter of the human germs, but her antibodies were already at work. The shots would do the rest.
So tired from having screamed and cried so much, Thaishi fell asleep in Thrawn’s arms, hugging him tightly, so he came to you with her in his arms, caressing her back tenderly. You were still examined, laying on the sterile bed. He took and squeezed your hand, sitting down next to you, listening to your own results.
The baby seemed healthy, they grew very well, maybe just a heartbeat a little weaker than the norm, but nothing alarming said the medic. After listing everything up, the medic put on their most magnificent brown noser smile and asked.
“So, do you want to know the gender?”
You looked into Thrawn’s eyes and shrugged. He nodded, understanding.
“We will keep the surprise.” He announced.
“Oh… Okay…” The medic responded, disappointed to not be the one bringing good news to their Grand Admiral.
Once an Empire’s dog, always an Empire’s dog…
“ Lady (Y/n) needs peace and quiet.” The chief medic said, looking darkly at his intern to keep them moving.
Thrawn nodded again, careful of your and your baby’s health. He remained with you for half an hour, squeezing your hand, caressing your forehead, kissing your cheek and speaking sweet nothing to you.
But you didn’t let yourself get charmed.
You knew very well where that attitude came from.
Soon…
Soon they will come to take your children away and Thrawn will let you go, leaving you to go back to the Rebellion and resume war between you two.
And your family will definitely disappear, torn apart across the universe.
You looked straight into his carmine eyes, with a harsh gaze, trying to convey your strong will.
You still haven't forgiven him.
He only looked at you back with even more tenderness and his caress became even more softer, his thumb caressing your cheek tenderly.
“Do not look at me like that.” He invited softly, “You stab my heart.”
“You know very well what you did!” You retorted lowly but harshly to not wake up Thaishi.
“I know Ch’acah. But I needed to come back.”
You only frowned and remained silent, too tired to start an argument.
“The medics told me the baby was healthy.” He continues with his soft melodious voice, “You take such good care of them, thank you.”
“The village’s healer helped a lot.” You recalled him.
“We have true medicine now. My team will take over, do not worry about anything.”
“I was not worried back at the village!” You retorted. “Everything went well for Thaishi!”
“Here nothing will escape us.” He closed the matter. “Sleep, Ch’acah. Build up your strength, the term is close.”
He kissed your forehead a final time before going back to his shift, not before dropping Thaishi in her new bedroom for the night.
How many hours did he already spend on the Bridge? No matter because he was ready to go back on duty immediately.
You spend the evening alone, eating alone at the grand table of the Grand Admiral suite. The plates were rich and expensive, worthy of Thrawn’s standing, but it had no taste for you. You got to bed early,  only to turn and turn in the bed, never finding sleep. You pretended to be deeply asleep 5 hours later when Thrawn slid silently in the bedroom, sneaking under the covers to hug you tight like he used to…
And days let place to weeks, traveling through space towards the Empire’s territory. Closer and closer to the end of your life… Thrawn buries himself in his work, sparing little moments for you and your daughter, while you spend all your time with the Frog people like those four years of bliss, when your family was whole. You did not waste any time to be an annoyance to the Imperials, making their days difficult, loudly advocating for the community’s rights on the ship, negotiating more spaces on the Chimaera, more time in the enlisted mess hall, freedom to come and go anywhere you please on the ISD, so on and so forth… Even if you have to recognize, the treatment of the community was royal in contrast to what you feared.
But apparently welcoming and taking care of a Grand Admiral for four years gives some rights on his ISD. You’re not delusional, you know that if they were any other alien community they would have traveled in cells. But Thrawn  would have never accepted his hosts to be treated like animals… So overall the Frog people have nothing to complain about, really.
That doesn’t prevent you from fighting for more to stick it up to those imperials.
And to their horror, you being Thrawn’s wife give your words weight and power here. A thing that seems to piss off Commodore Faro immensely.
She knows she is walking a thin  line with you, you may be a civilian but you are her Grand Admiral wife, she knows that if she says no too much you will go straight to Thrawn. So she does her best to mediate any situations to the best of her abilities.
It’s a shame she is an Imperial, she could do so much good in the Rebellion with her talents! But you know recruiting your husband’s officers will be a big no no! So you let her be.
Until you have another complaint to scream everywhere in the Chimaera!
So you actually rarely let her be.
To her utmost annoyance.
“The baby is fine.” The medic calls you back to reality.
You blink, turning your head to the screen to observe your baby. You see them agitating themself inside your belly, giving little kicks and punches around.
“Do you want to listen to their heartbeat?” They ask.
You nod, putting on the headphones to listen to the little drum, beating rhythmically and you refrain from a sob.
What a wonderful sound…
The most wonderful music you ever heard with Thaishi’s laugh. You caress your tummy with your eyes glued to the screen to observe your sweetheart. The heartbeat is indeed weak, but you can feel it beat through your veins!
Your baby is determined to come into the world and meet you.
You know it!
“Can I get an ultrasound image?” You ask, trying to keep your voice stable.
“I will send it immediately to the Grand Admiral.” The medic accepts.
You greet your teeth. You wanted the image for yourself, and share it with Thrawn later down the day. But they all tend to bypass you, only taking Thrawn’s desire and orders into account despite your pleas. ‘Are you sure the Grand Admiral would want this?’,’Grand Admiral Thrawn would never accept that!’, ‘I will ask Grand Admiral Thrawn’s opinion.’ and so on and so forth…
To them you may be their Grand Admiral wife but you’re also a lowly rebel and they have no qualms letting you know.
“We didn’t detect anything abnormal.” The medic announces, “You simply have a light iron deficiency. A slight change in your diet should mend your vertigo, no need to worry.”
“I am not worried.” You clap back, “Thrawn pushes me to come to the med bay at any signs of light weakness.”
“The Grand Admiral” He corrects, “... Simply wants to be sure his baby is healthy.”
You don’t like the emphasis on ‘his’.
“Well I know Our baby well, I knew nothing was wrong.” You retort.
You look black in each other's eyes in silence.
Now you’re both pissed off.
“The images.” You order.
They sigh and shake their head.
“Right away…”
------------------------------------------
You stir your food with your fork.
This isn’t really good.
You lay down your fork and slouch on your seat, observing the mess hall reserved to the enlisted and ensign. There aren't a lot of people at this hour which is both a blessing and a curse. With so few people there are not many people to shoot you down with their gaze but you also cannot feel the lively and busy activity of a community, which is why you came here in the first place.
The frog people are not here anymore.
They have been disembarked on a planet of their choosing. You lost friends when Thaishi lost everything she ever knew. She hugged Lei really hard, refusing to let her go, her mother and you had to separate them. They both cried, refusing to say goodbye to their bestfriend. The Chiefs saluted you and Thrawn, thankful for letting them pursue their goal and having the opportunity to fly freely in the universe once again after a millenia. They shared a respectful handshake with Thrawn and pulled you into a hug, congratulating you again for Thaishi and the baby, promising to keep you in their hearts.
You would lie if you said you didn’t shed a tear as you saw them disappear on the planet surface, getting smaller and smaller as the Chimaera was flying away in space. Thaishi cried her eyes out and you had all the pain in the world to calm her down, hugging and cradling her.
You felt how the tension in the Chimaera’s crew suddenly lifted like a fog disappearing.
Finally the weird alien community wasn't here to soil their precious Imperial ISD anymore!
You used to eat with them at noon in the enlisted mess hall, and now you’re all alone.
Without any friends and community on a ship with a crew that hates you, a busy husband and a dependant 4 year old child.
Busy… To not say outright absent.
Since you came inside the ISD Thrawn is consistently on the Bridge for long, long shifts. You only see him at noon one day out of 5 and feel him enter the bed past 3 or 4 a.m to rise back at 6 or 7 am. You're not dumb, you know he buries himself in his work to not face the fact that his family will soon not be anymore.
It was his idea to send your children to the Ascendancy,  and while he knows it in his heart to be the best solution it doesn’t alleviate the pain for all that.
So he works.
And works.
And works.
To the point that you feel like a single mother.
You sigh, massaging your temples when Karyn Faro appears in the mess hall, pissed off, holding Thaishi, in tears, by the hand.
“Lady (Y/n)!” She shouts, for everyone to hear.
“Thaishi!” You raise on your foot, “What happened, sweetheart? I thought you were sleeping already.”
Faro lets your daughter go and she sprints into your arms, burying her head in the crook of your neck.
“Your daughter entered the bridge!” Faro lets you know harshly, “This is not the place for a child!”
“I just wanted to see daaaaaaaaad…” Her little voice breaks down in terrible sobs. “I miss him!”
You hug her tight and caress her back soothingly.
“I hope it won’t happen again.” Faro bites.
“Or what?” You clap back, “What will you do? Throw her in a cell? She is 4 and the daughter of your Grand Admiral!”
She frowns harder and her nostrils flare and for a second you expect her to explode and scream her rage in your face and for everyone present to witness.
But she inhales and recovers her calm, speaking with a deadly cold voice.
“The Grand Admiral himself is asking you to make sure this incident does not happen ever again.”
She lets that sink in and you take the stab in your heart.
You look into each other’s eyes, angry and gauging the other down.
“I will speak with him about that.” You let her know.
“Dot that. In the meantime, keep an eye on your daughter, she could hurt herself roaming around the Chimaera like that. So many corners are treacherous…”
“Are you threatening my child?” You demand, ready to claw her throat, not believing what you’re hearing.
“I simply do not want to discover your precious child bleeding out in the machine's room.” She simply responds with a false smile.
She stands to attention and leaves you in the middle of the mess hall with your child in a mess.
You sigh. What a bitch.
You carry your daughter the best you can with your heavy pregnant belly to lay her down in her bed. She stopped crying but sniffs and sighs, her red eyes still wet with tears.
“I don’t like it here, mom…”
“What are you saying? You have a large bedroom just for you, you always complained you wanted your own space back at the village!” You try to make her see the good sides of the situation.
There aren't many, you admit…
Thrawn placed her in the bedroom next to the Grand Admiral suite, and you know in your heart he meant well. Thaishi complained so much to not have a bedroom for herself he thought she would be happy like that. And back where Lei and the other kids were here she could accommodate herself seeing her father less, but now she feels truly alone.
She sniffs loudly as you tuck her in her large, maybe too large bed, holding on to the covers.
“I miss Lei and everyone! Can’t we go back and take them back?” She pleads.
“No sweety.” You try to soothe her, “They resumed their nomad life. We do not know where they are now and we ourselves are heading towards our new home.”
“I liked the village!” She complains, “I don’t understand why we have to live on a ship!”
You caress a strand of hair out of her face tenderly.
“I know sweetheart. But you’ll see, you will meet a lot of children there, you’ll make a lot of new friends, go to school with a lot of kids, start a new life. Isn't it exciting?”
“Nooooooo…” She whines. “I liked how it was… And I don’t see dad anymore!”
“Didn’t you see him on the bridge?” You ask.
“I was immediately stopped by the adults.” She explains, “I called for dad but he didn’t even turn to me.” And she broke down crying again.
You lay next to her and hug your child tight, letting her wet your shirt with tears.
“Mum, I want to go home…” She cries,” Everyone is so mean here…”
You kiss the top of her head tenderly, pressing her against your chest, against your beating heart.
You didn’t tell her.
You couldn’t bring yourself to tell her that soon, once her sibling is born in less than three months, she will be sent away with them in the Ascendancy.
Never to see you or Thrawn again…
You start crying with her and you hug each other.
Mother and child alone in a cold bedroom on an hostile  imperial ISD, with the sole ending to be separated forever…
You end up sleeping with Thaishi in her bed, holding her tight in your arms. You don’t feel how someone comes inside the room to pull the covers back over Thaishi, kissing her cheek tenderly and lifting you up to carry you.
You wake up at the sensation of being cradled softly, only to meet white and a military plaque. You raise your head to see Thrawn, carrying you bridal style to your bedroom.
“Sleep, my sweet.” He softly orders, “You need to gather strength for the birth.”
“No.” You immediately step your food down, “No. We need to talk.”
He lowers his carmine gaze to you, but remains silent.
He enters the suite and heads towards the bedroom, only letting you go to lay you down your shared bed. As he rises back to go away you seize his arm immediately to force him to stay.
“No. You will not escape this conversation.” You warn.
He looks at your resolute gaze and sighs, sitting down on the edge of the bed, fixing the wall. You both remain silent for a moment, not knowing how to start. You get a quick glance to the alarm clock, informing you it was 4 am already.
“Thrawn…” You sigh.
“I know.” He simply says, “Believe me, I know.”
“You didn’t even turn to her?” You ask, flabbergasted. “She just wanted to see her dad.”
“I know, Ch’acah.” He admits, lowering his head lightly, “But I walk a thin line. I cannot let the most minuscule slip off happen.”
“She cried for two hours for Maker’s sake!” You start to feel ire raising in your blood.
“If I let them see anything, you three could get hurt.” He explains, “I am held at gunpoint, if I show any weakness towards any of you two they will devour us all. Thaishi and the baby included.”
“Another reason to defect.” You remark coldly.
“We already had this discussion, Ch’acah.” He patiently says.
“I know…”
But that doesn’t mean you accepted the situation for all that! You can only see the good he could do if he joined the Rebellion, all the lives he could save and improve…
“I need the Empire’s resources.” He continues almost to himself, “Even if I have to make the sacrifice of myself.”
“Right now you are sacrificing your daughter. We barely saw you last month, you stopped eating with us, you come back to the bedroom when everyone is sleeping and rise back earlier than everyone else. I feel so… We both feel abandoned.”
He lowers his head to fix his hands with intertwined fingers. He murmurs something so low you cannot hear it.
“What did you say?”
“I cannot face you both.” He repeats.
You look at the back of his head, how hunched over he is, how… fragile he seems at this very moment.
“The pain is too great.” He lets out in a breath, “Seeing you reminds me of what I will have to leave behind. Work helps me to forget, to not suffer for a few hours…”
“Is that why you take so many shifts? To avoid us?” You ask with a nicer tone.
“Yes.” He admits, raising his back straight, “I am a coward… It was my idea.”
“You’re not a coward.” You say softly, “But you are making a mistake, do not drive your daughter away from you. Thaishi needs her father to guide her, to love her.” You take his shoulder and squeeze it, “Please, do not turn your back on us…Thrawn, we need you as much as the Ascendancy needs you. Why can’t you see it?”
Thrawn turns to you to meet your gaze. You see so many emotions flashing in his carmine gaze despite his aloof expression.
“Do not reject us…” You beg.
He takes both of your hands to kiss your knuckles tenderly, reveling in your presence.
“I am sorry.” He finally says, “I indeed made a mistake. I put myself before the needs of Thaishi and the baby.”
“Stay with us tomorrow morning.” You propose, “Faro is competent enough for you to take half a day for yourself…” You squeeze his hands.
“Will you forgive me?” He asks, pleading with his eyes rather than his tone.
“Will you spare more time for Thaishi?” You ask.
“Yes. I will also accompany you to each of your medical appointments. I will spare you more time.”
You put your forehead against his, breathing deeply.
“Thank you…” You sigh.
His hand comes caressing your cheek delicately, tilting your head to capture your lips in an infinitely tender kiss. One since a long time ago…
He kisses you lightly, like you could break at any moment and you respond, relieved to have your husband back.
At least for the three last months…
He leans forward to kiss your pregnant belly reverently, caressing it with his large palms, murmuring sweet nothing to your unborn baby.
“Hello you, I am back, sweet thing.”
You cannot help but smile, caressing his hair as he talks to your baby for long minutes. He finally rises to kiss you chastly.
“Sleep, cheo vir. It is terribly late.”
“Will you stay?” You demand, worried.
“Yes. I will.” He promises.
You nod lightly, satisfied for the moment. Thrawn helps you out to put on your pajamas, take off your shoes, gently massaging your sore foot. You sneak under the covers as Thrawn leaves the suite, promising to come back immediately.
He actually comes back with Thaishi, sleeping soundly in his arms and he lays her down next to you, kissing her forehead. You caress the tummy of your daughter as Thrawn takes his shower and comes into bed, Thaishi between you both.
He takes her delicately in his large arms and hugs her tight, a hug that she gives back eagerly despite being asleep. You stay awake a little more to admire this wonderful scene, father and daughter, hugging each other at last…
When morning comes you are relieved and pleased to see Thrawn sitting in bed, caressing Thaishi’s back softly as she sleeps still. You extend your arm and caress his cheek with your knuckles and he turns his head to you, a light smile coming to grace his lips as he sees you, eyes pouring love for you.
“Good morning, Ch’acah.”
“Hi you…” You smile back.
This moment is peaceful and tender, your whole family reunited.
But you both know.
It cannot last…
--------------------------------------------------
You groan, holding the low of your back. Your spine is crushed and your baby is kicking and punching relentlessly, preventing you from sleeping correctly for the last two weeks.
Your term is not now, you still have two months to wait so your child just decided to get feisty with you. You remember how stressed you were with Thaishi, she kicked so little you started to fear she died in your womb. What a relief you felt when you heard her first scream.
Your baby may have a weaker heart but they appear determined to fight to live, and right now they’re fighting you.
You rise from your bed, in pain, feeling like you are about to wet yourself with how squeezed your bladder is. You walk slowly with very little step when you receive a formidable kick in the stomach.
“Ouch!” You groan, “You sure are full of energy, little one.” You laugh through the pain.
You enter the living room of the Grand Admiral suite to discover Thrawn trying to correct Thaishi's terrible table manners, and she seems too happy to give him a hard time now that she has his attention. They both turn to you, Thaishi with her mouth full, and greet you.
“Welcome, Ch’acah.” Thrawn immediately stands up to meet you, “Did you sleep well tonight?”
You sniff and purse your lips in response.
“No. Your baby keeps kicking me around.”
He presses his large palm on your stomach, circling your shoulders with his other arm. He smiles lightly as he feels a hit against his palm.
“They are so vigorous.” He notes, pleased, “They seem to be in a rush to be born.”
“You don’t say!” You huff, “They punch me all to their heart content.”
He kisses your cheek with a low purr.
“I thank you for going through all of this for our family.” He praises you, “You amaze me everyday.”
You gulp discreetly. A family fated to disappear, sooner than later now… But you both keep the act before Thaishi, to preserve her. When she is not sleeping in your bed with the both of you, Thrawn is holding you all night long to comfort you and dry your tears.
But you cannot cry in front of your daughter.
Thrawn wanted to tell her, but you formerly forbade him. You wanted for her to live as peacefully and fully as she could, without a ticking time bomb over her head and an imminent sense of doom. You just wanted her to live like any normal little girl.
“Thaishi, do not take such large bites” Thrawn chastises her, “You will choke yourself, little one.”
She looks at him defiantly, pushing another bite in her already full mouth, making her look like a hamster. Thrawn sits back in front of her to teach her while you serve yourself some caff. You groan again, folding forward when another kick comes punching your rib, cutting your breath.
“Are you alright, Ch’acah?” Thrawn asks, ready to jump into action.
You smile painfully, gesturing to him that this is nothing out of the ordinary as you come to sit to enjoy a breakfast with your little family.
Thrawn already filled your plate with your favorite, pushing it to you, intimating you to eat something. You wince, not hungry in the slightest with your stomach so squeezed.
“Be reasonable.” He says softly but firmly.
“Be reasonable, mum!” Thaishi repeats with her mouth full of brioche, “Be reasonable!”
You wrinkle your nose, but accept nibbling at your food to appease him. He took your plates away once you ate half of your portion, satisfied.
But if you had listened to yourself you wouldn’t have eaten a quarter of it.
“I must go.” Thrawn announces, putting on his white jacket, “Do you need help to dress first, Ch’acah?”
“Already?” You say, disappointed.
For the last month he took care to be more present in your life, staying as late as possible in the morning, putting Thaishi to bed himself even if it was in the middle of one of his shifts, helping you bathe or take a shower even after a full, long day of work and massaging your foot and shoulders before bed.
Faro holds you personally responsible for that, you could feel her shooting you with her glare furiously, but Thrawn was still the Grand Admiral of the ship, still efficient and hard working, never slipping off… So she has nothing against you, factually.
But today he wants to go way earlier than your new routine.
“This area is infested, I want to oversee any possible combat” He explains.
You immediately tense up.
Infested by who? The Rebellion?
You are ready to make a scene to prevent him from going to fight your comrades but he immediately understands your weird gaze.
“Pirates, Ch'acah.” He lightly smiles, “They are numerous in this part.”
You immediately relax.
“Oh… Okay. Good luck, love.”
He leans forward to capture your lips in a surprising demanding kiss, you remain unresponsive for a moment, taken by surprise by such eagerness.
The birth is near, he is on edge as you are even if he hides it well.
“Urk…You are disgusting” Thaishi complains mockingly.
Thrawn and you both laugh at her reaction and he comes to kiss her cheek to say goodbye. She circles his neck with her arms and squeezes him tight.
Once he leaves the room, she immediately turns back to the table to take another bite, already throwing out what he was trying to teach her. So you lightly slap her hand away.
“No, young lady. Finish your plate first.”
She sticks her tongue out but finishes her plate nonetheless. You take a sip of your caff, observing your blue jewel in silence as she eats eagerly. She is growing and starving all the time, you have difficulty holding her in your arms now.
But not Thrawn.
He can still lift her and carry her like she weighs nothing.
You remain still as you drink your cup, not showing how your baby is literally demolishing you from the inside, punching hard in your stomach. But when you have the guard of Thaishi you refuse to show your pain, you must be a strong mother for her.
But those kicks are really strong and… painful.
“What do you want to play this morning?” You ask her.
“I won’t have lessons today?” She asks with sparkling eyes.
You tuts, shaking your finger.
“Do not dream too much, young lady. You will do your homework as every other day, but today you can play a bit first.”
She sighs in response but appreciates the prospect of games before lessons.
----------------------------------------------
You are in so much pain. It feels like a tool gripped your stomach and twisted it in knots before pulling on it like it was trying to rip it off of your body. You greet your teeth as you pretend to make your doll walk on the make believe doll house in the suite. Too lost in her game, Thaishi is fully focused on the figurines in her hands, mediating a negotiation between a client and a market gardener.
You hold your stomach, breathing deeply through your nose. You ate something bad for sure.
“Mom?” Your jewel asks.
“It’s alright, sweety. Just dizziness, it will pass.” You smile through the pain, refocusing on the game of your little girl, you wouldn’t want to trample on the nascent romance between her dolls for anything in the universe!
Your doll is about to join the negotiation for some samara fruits when the entire Chimaera trembles suddenly and an alarm starts blaring out. Thaishi yelps in surprise and fear, losing her balance. You catch her in your arms and you hold each other tight.
“What’s going on?” She asks terrified.
“Pirates, most probably.” You answer calmly, trying to keep our own anxiety at bay.
“Are we… Are we going to die?” She raises her eyes round in fear up to you.
She never knew battles or war, and always lived a peaceful life in the village. You look into her eyes, flashing memories of your battles against Thrawn.
How he used to win with such talent and brio each time!
“No. No sweety.” You soothe her, “Your father is leading the battle. That means we are going to win.” You caress her back, pulling her on your lap.
“I am scared!” She whines, snuggling against your breast.
You hear people running in the attending corridor, the battle alarm still screaming in the loudspeakers. They are all rushing to battle.
“Thaishi, look at me.” You say authoritatively.
She looks up to you again with questions at the sudden change of tone, but listening carefully to you.
“Your father is the Grand Admiral Thrawn. Unbeaten and invincible.” You expose clearly.
She is way too young to know about all of that, no use to go into details, just enough to reassure her, “He is the tactical genius of this generation. There is no safer place in the Universe but his side. Do you understand me?”
You bite the inner of your cheek at how the humiliation you suffered at his hand, how many times you had to flee the battlefield to escape death and destruction. The long hours spent forming a new strategy that could take him by surprise.
To no avail.
Despite all your and your comrades efforts, Thrawn never showed any weakness in battle and wiped out all your attempts at assassination.
If one could win no matter the odds, it is him.
“Do you understand me, Thaishi?”
She slowly nods, hugging you tighter. You smile comfortingly to her face soaked with tears and hug her.
“You have nothing to fear, my sweet. Your father is here to protect us.”
A light explodes outside of your bay window, a missile you determine, illuminating the bedroom harshly. You raise on your feet immediately to lower the blinds and protect your daughter from that spectacle but you don’t even take two steps you fall down on the ground, holding your stomach.
You’re in so much pain! You feel your blood boiling and flewing furiously in your spasming muscles.
What is going on?
“Mum? MUM?!” Thaishi runs to you.
You feel another contraction spasming your entire body and you gasp, all your air kicked out of your lungs.
“Mummy! Mummy!” She shouts, powerless, kneeling next to you.
She suddenly turns her head and jumps on her little feet and runs out of the room.
You’re in too much pain to just hear the battle outside or the commotion in the corridors. You bite your lower lips, drawing blood, curling over yourself pathetically on the carpet of the large bedroom when someone bursts inside the room.
You are suddenly being lifted up in the air and you cannot help a scream of pain in response. All your southern muscles are contracting and convulsing while you feel a wet and warm sensation spreading along your thighs, soiling your undergarment and dress.
Did your water…?
But it is too soon!
Way too soon!
The unknown officer, soldier or ensign is speeding in the corridors with you in their arms. Your baby had to come in the middle of a battle!
When Thrawn is away.
They finally reach the med bay and enter without consideration for the other patient, shouting that the Grand Admiral’s wife was twisting in pain on the ground. You are being laid down on a bed as carefully as they can, a medic and a droid arriving at your side immediately.
“Her water broke.” The medic calmly says, “Let’s place her in the operation room.”
You wriggle on the mattress, each heartbeat getting more and more painful.
Your bed is pushed in a white, sterile room and someone transfuse you with something.
“Thrawn…” You gasp, “Where is Thrawn…”
“He is leading the battle, lady (F/n).” They coldly announce.
Where is everyone?
Why are you alone?
With Thaishi, Thrawn and all your friends were here to support you.
But today you are alone… In a cold room with droids and machines and imperials
Where did all of your life go?
You scream again as a new contraction stops all your thoughts. The medic chief enter the room, seemingly pissed off.
“What do you mean her water broke? The term is two months away!” He harshly announces.
“Labour started chief, she is fully dilated and the contractions get closer and closer.” Someone responds.
He hisses but takes his place as you wince in pain.
“Prepare an incubator! The baby is premature at 28 weeks, they will need intense care.”
You close your eyes shut as a new wave of pain washes over you.
“Thrawn! Where is Thrawn!” You demand.
“He cannot make it to you, lady (F/n). You will need to do it on your own.”
As to punctuate his words, the Chimaera is shaken again. The bed trembles, worsening your pain. You feel your sweat soaking your bed and dress.
It is so uncomfortable!
“Prepare everything, they may needs respiratory assistance, surfactant in an intubation tube. Their liver and kidneys aren’t formed yet. Keep an eye on the vitals and stand ready. Lady (F/n) you can push.”
“No! No, I want Thrawn!” You cry, “Where is he? He must be here!I can’t do it without-”
Someone slides their hands in yours and squeezes it tight and a female voice rises.
“He is fighting to keep us all alive. You must be strong and do it without him. We are all here to take care of your child, focus on your labor.”
You squeeze back her hand, the pain is so great the flashing white lights blind you completely, preventing you from seeing her face.
“We are all here for you right now!” She assesses.
You feel the tools pulling on your organs again, signaling you that you simply cannot wait for your husband to magically appear in the room and support you.
You’ll have to pass this trial alone.
So you start pushing, greeting your teeth and pressing her hand with yours with all your strength. You curse as the morphine is taking its sweet time to kick in, but you have no time! Your baby is coming now!
You scream as you push, feeling like your organs get tearing apparts in millions of shreds.
Maker, you forgot how hard it was…
You feel her circle your shoulders to help soothe you as you push.
“We have a head!” The medic announces, “Keep pushing, Lady. One last time!”
You dig your nails in the metal bar you are holding and the soft hand of the woman supporting you and push hard!
“Come on!” She encourages?
You keep pushing and pushing, pain ravaging your inside.
Until you feel a mass passing through your inner muscles. And suddenly…
Silence.
No liberating scream of a baby.
Just dead… silence.
“Install the respiratory assistance and put them in the incubator, we must stabilize their temperature.” The chief orders around.
You feel dizzy and weak but still have the sense that something went wrong.
“My baby…” You moan, “Give me my baby…”
“They must go into intensive care immediately. Your job is to rest and prepare to take care of a premature baby.”
Your bust fall with a ‘oof’ on the bed, too tired to do anything anymore.
“Good job!” The woman congratulates you.
You turn your head lazily to her, and open your eyes round in surprise.
“Commodore Faro?” You ask, bewildered.
She nods in response.
“What are you doing here?” you ask at the end of your rope.
“I was running to the bridge when your daughter burst out the Suite in tears, screaming at the top of her lungs that you fell. I simply carried you here.” She explains.
You lose all your words.
She hates you.
Why would she do that? Why would she help you?
“But…” You shake your head, weak with the loss of blood.
“Grand Admiral Thrawn would have killed me if I turned my back on you at that moment.” She simply explains. “He could forgive me for not reaching the bridge for a battle, but not for me not helping you, especially when you are giving birth.”
“It… It doesn’t make any sense…” You insist.
“Because you’re weak and dizzy.” She finishes.
“Thaishi… Where is my daughter!?” You have a flash of clarity in your fogged mind.
“I ordered an officer to take care of her in the the Grand Admiral suite. She is well.”
“Go get her…” You order weakly, “She must be so worried I left her, my jewel… My daughter…”
She prevents you from trying to stand up, pushing you back gently against the bed.
“I’ll ring the officer, do not worry. I-”
She is shushed by the door opening.
Thrawn enters, immediately spotting you. He places himself at your side and takes your hand, caressing a strand of hair out of your face.
“Ch’acah. How are you?”
“Tired… The baby…”
“Is in intensive care, I know. I am sorry I was not here, my love. I failed you.”
“My baby…” You feel tears coming back, “They didn’t let me hold my baby… I want them in my arms…”
He presses his forehead against your, caressing your cheek tenderly.
“Be patient my love. The medics are taking care of them.”
He rises back up and turns to Faro. She stands to attention immediately.
“I thank you, Commodore Faro.” He ceremoniously says, “Thanks to you, my wife and baby are safe.”
“Of course, Grand Admiral.” She respectfully bows her head, “How did the battle go?”
“Very well. Some resistances that held on against us, but we rose on top.”
“As always with you, Grand Admiral. I will take my shift if you don’t need me anymore.”
“Of course, Commodore.”
They nod to each other and she leaves. Thrawn turns back to you and sits on the edge of the bed.
“Ch’acah.” he starts, “You must have been scared.”
You wipe your tears off, sniffing.
“I want my baby.” You insist weakly.
“I want to see them too.” He assures you gently but seriously, “But we cannot right now. Rest a little, it was a lot of emotions for you.”
“Stay with me!” You demand, afraid he would leave you now.
“Of course. I left the bridge to my officers and Faro will take command for now. I can remain with you.”
---------------------------------------------
Your eyes are fixed on your baby inside her incubator.
Your sweet little girl.
Your little warrior.
Nothing is yet won, so much could still go wrong. But she is taken care of. Thaishi is pressed to the incubator, observing her little sister intently, absolutely hypnotized by the blue baby sleeping soundly.
“Do not poke the incubator, sweety. Let your sister rest.” You say, laying in your bed.
You’re still in the med bay in a private room. You refused to sleep away from your premature baby. You wanted to be here at any signs of illness or bad reaction, to jump into action at any bad signs. Besides, you have been judged too weak to leave yet.
Thaishi stops poking and jumps in the bed to slide between your arms, snuggling against you.
“What’s her name again?” She asks.
“Thauko.” You say again with a little smile.
“Thauko…” She repeats lowly, “Why is she in that weird crib?”
“She is premature, she needs a lot of care.”
“Premature?”
“She is born too soon, her development hasn’t stopped yet.”
“Is that… Bad?” She asks with her years old words.
“Yes… But we have skillful medics and she is a Chiss, like you. She will survive.” You say assertively.
You both remain silent, eyes fixed on the incubator, listening to all the machinery helping your baby staying alive. You sigh and bury your nose in Thaishi’s hair to inhale her scent for comfort.
That’s when Thrawn decided to enter your room.
“Daddy!” Thaishi shoots, already forgetting your demand to remain quiet for the baby.
“Thaishi, my little one.” He takes her in his arms, “Did you come to visit your little sister?”
She puts and winces, displeased.
“Yes, but she doesn’t move, she only sleeps! That’s so boring!”
He chuckles lightly in response.
“It is normal, she needs to build her strength to grow and heal.”
“Well it’s boring!” She insists.
He comes to the incubator, passing a hand through one of the designated holes to gently, tenderly caress the tummy of his baby. You observe him observing his daughter with so much love in his gaze. She wriggles at the warm sensation of his large palm on her body, her tiny, tiny hand trying to seize one of his fingers to keep him here.
“Hello, Thauko.” He salutes her respectfully, like he would an adult. “My brave and courageous daughter.” He says almost to himself.
“Our little warrior.” You add with a sad smile.
“Indeed.” He hums approvingly.
You cried in his arms, terrified for the life of your daughter. But he remained assertive that she would survive, that you will all surpass that trial together. He was so adamant you had no choice but to get convinced that she would make it, no matter the odds.
But that is how he operates. Always choosing hope no matter what.
The feeble baby seems to burp, trembling in the crib with tubes in her little nose.
How much would you give to be able to hold her against yourself, to hug her tight and shower her with love and warmth.
But your human body isn’t warm enough for her, preferring Thrawn’s warmth. He delicately grazes her plump cheek with his knuckles, blue skin on blue skin.
You silently admire that scene.
Your husband giving love to both of your daughters, hugging one and caressing the other gently. He retracts his hand off the incubator to leave your baby at peace and his gaze travels to yours.
“They are coming.” He simply announces.
You shudder.
He needs not to precise who, you know very well who he is talking about.
But now?!
In this situation?!
Did he lose his mind?
“With a premature baby?!” You demand, digging your nails in the cover.
“They have been properly warned and prepared in consequence.” He continues, “They are en route.”
You open your mouth to retort but Thaishi beats you to it.
“Who’s en route?”
Thrawn affirms his grip on her body and turns his gaze to her, deadly serious.
“The Chiss Ascendancy.” He explains, “They come to pick you up.”
She tilts her head slightly, not understanding.
“I thought we were heading towards an Empire?”
“Me and your mother. You and Thauko will go your own way.”
She remains silent for a second, like she failed to understand.
“...What?” She asks with a trembling voice.
You give Thrawn a black look, warning him to keep his mouth shut but he slightly shakes his head to you, telling you he made his decision. He comes to sit on your bed, keeping her in his arms.
“Thaishi, you and your sister will join the Chiss Ascendancy. You will grow there and become adults, form your own families and serve the Ascendancy at the best of your abilities. This is for your safety.”
“You are coming with us… Right?” She inquires.
“No, my jewel.” He informs her, “Me and your mother have unfinished business at the Empire. Dangerous business, improper for children so young. The Ascendancy will welcome you, raise you and educate you in civilized ways. You will join a new family and walk towards a brighter future that we could not give you here.”
Her little hand that held his sleeve fall down to her side, gawking.”
“You will… abandon us?” Her voice is toneless with incomprehension and fear.
You rise in a sitting position to hug her.
“No, my sweet, no. We pondered this situation, this is the best solution for your safety. Our… respective works could never permit us to meet your needs and offer you a stable family. You would only suffer.”
“But… But… I don’t want to go…” She insists
“We know, little one.” He continues, “And we do not want to let you go either. But your safety and well being is our ultimate priority, the best solution is to send you to the Ascendancy.”
“But… No… No!” She decides, shouting, “I don’t wanna go! I wanna stay!” She starts punching his arms but he easily seizes her little fists to stop her as she cries.
“This is for the best, Thaishi. You may not understand now, but once you grow you will accept and recognize our decision was for the best.” He asserts.
She wails and screams and cries, refusing to calm down.
He hugs her tight, preventing her from punching and hurting herself, his head resting on her own little head.
“I don’t wanna! I wanna stay! Why are you abandoning us!?”
You press yourself against her, both of you holding her, letting her express her frustration, anger and fear through her tears and whines.
Your heart bleeds at those odious sounds. You only want to hear her laughs and giggles, those sounds are just so painful to you.
“They are coming to bring you to a better future.” He gently insists, “You will understand one day.”
“I wanna stay with you!”
“Once an adult, you will be free to come back and meet us once again. We could talk longly about anything you so desire. But before that, you will remain safe in the Ascendancy.” He keeps talking with his melodious, soothing voice.
You all three remain in a tight hug, consoling Thaishi, knowing the scars on her heart will take years, i not decades to heal.
----------------------------------------------------
Your legs tremble, feeling like jello. Thaishi holds on to your hand like a buoy in the open sea. Thrawn remains stills next to you, his hands clasped behind his back as always.
Before you a large Corvette is slowly opening its ramp.
Thashi digs her nails in your flesh when the ramp hits the floor, revealing Chiss with hard gazes. They silently and haughtily descend to join you, like they own the place.
Thrawn takes a step forward, with a respectful and polite expression.
“Admiral Ar’alani, I hope your travel was safe and good.” He asks in Sy Bisti.
“Grand Admiral Thrawn.” She responds coldly, “It was uneventful, which is quite surprising. Where are they?”
You flinch, squeezing Thaishi’s hand in yours. Thrawn take a step to the side, designing you two to his fellow Chiss. She walks up to you assuredly, gauging you up and down.
“I assume you are the mother.” she continues in Sy Bisti.
By instinct you place yourself before Thaishi, feeling yourself trembling before that woman. Her gaze lazily falls on your daughter, observing her intently.
“What is your name?” She demands.
Thaishi hides behind your leg and you caress her head.
“Your name, child!” She insists harsher.
“Thaishi.” You interject, trying to appease her, “Her name is Thaishi.”
“Thaishi…” She repeats before turning towards Thrawn, “The Mitth will not appreciate that name.”
“I fail to see why?” He responds, tilting his head slightly.
“Of course you don’t.” She turns back to you and your child, “Thaishi of the Chiss, it is time for you to say your farewell and come with us!”
You feel your daughter flinching behind you, oressign herself tighter behind you.
“A moment…” You ask, kneeling to her.
The woman named Ar’alani breathes through her nose and joins Thrawn to speak with him in Cheuhn. Your level isn’t good enough to understand the discussion.
You look at Thaishi, checking the zipper of her coat was up.
“Are you ready?” You ask softly.
She shakes her head.
“No… I don’t wanna go.”
“I know, my sweet. But it is for the greater good. You’ll see, everyone will be like you there, you’ll make a lot of friends and have a lot of fun.” You try to smile at her.
“But you will not be with me.”
“Thauko will be with you. Take care of your little sister, you are the eldest, she will need you.”
She sniffs in response.
“Mom… Can’t I stay?” She tries to plead again.
“Oh my sweet, I don’t want you to go either. But you would never be in security with us.”
You take her in your arms.
“Mum…” She insists.
You look into her red eyes. You see she is trying really hard to be strong and assured but you feel how close she is to broke. You squeeze her in your arms, reveling one last time in her.
“I love you so, so much Thaishi. Never forget that, please.”
She buries her head in the crook of your neck.
“It is time.” Thrawn announces, coming closer to you.
He kneels to Thaishi, holding her cheeks in his large hands.
“Thaishi, be strong. Obey the adults and work hard, do not neglect your education and look over your younger sister.” He says assuredly, the last orders from a father to his child, “I love you.”
He hugs her and she hugs him back, circling his neck with her little arms. You look at them, refraining a sob. You raise your head as you hear the wheels of the incubator, you stand up and press your hands against the glass, observing your baby.
You rarely had the occasion to hold her in your arms, she so rarely got out of the incubator. You gently take her out and kisses her forehead tenderly. Thrawn come caressing her head delicately and kisses her cheek. You press her against you one last time and put her back inside the incubator.
“Let’s go.” Ar’alani says, taking Thaishi’s hand and pulling her towards the corvette.
The Human medic pushes the incubator to who you assume to be a Chiss medic that take it and roll it towards the ship. Thaishi nervously turns back to you, falling behind Ar’alani.
“Mum.” She calls.
You wave at her, trying your best to smile comfortingly, hiding the pain you feel deep inside you.
“Mum…” This time her voice cracks.
She pulls on her hand, freeing herself and runs back to you. You immediately lower yourself and embrace her. Ar’alani looks at her, flabbergasted.
“Thaishi.” You broke.
“Mum!” She cries. “Don’t let them take me! Mum!”
You squeeze her hard in your arms when you feel getting snatched away from you. Ar’alani stands back up, holding Thaishi in her arms and turns back to the ship.
“Mum! Dad!” Thaishi screams at the top of her lungs, extending her hands to you, “Dad!”
You feel Thrawn kneeling next to you, circling your shoulders, as much to comfort you as to prevent you from running after your children.
“Mum!”
You dig your nails in Thrawn’s flesh, fighting the urge to sprint after that Chiss woman and take back your daughters with your teeth and fists.
“MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM!” You hear her final scream as the ramp closes back on them.
And then the Corvette takes off…
And disappears away.
And you break.
In a million pieces.
You scream, clawing at Thrawn that tries to keep you whole. You tear up his uniform in your pain, tearing his blue skin to blood.
But he holds on.
Embracing you in his large arms, caressing your hair, speaking sweet nothing in your ears.
But you are just deaf to his words.
And you cry.
Suddenly your fight for the Rebellion feels so insignificant, and you wish you would have gone with your children.
Thrawn opens your collar for you to breathe better as you wail, cradling you tenderly.
“Breath, Ch’acach.” He tries to calm you down, “They will be safe there, not harm will come to them. Breath.”
You sob and gasp, right in the middle of a panic attack. Thrawn caresses your cheek with the back of his hand, holding you close.
“Calm down, (Y/n). Calm down.” He keeps chanting lowly, only for your ears. “I am with you.”
Your mouth is open to swallow big bowls of air but they never reach your lungs, getting stuck in your throat.
“Today I am with you to catch you.” He continues gently.
But he wont be for long anymore… In less than a week you will reach the Empire's territories and he will let you go back to the Rebellion.
And you will be alone.

Spock covered McCoy's mouth, fingers wrapping around McCoy's jaw solidly. His stern expression faltered slightly as he met McCoy's eyes and no doubt recognised the fury there.
“Be quieter, please,” Spock whispered.
McCoy opened his mouth, fully intending to bite Spock to get his hands off him. A moment before he bared his teeth Spock's eyebrows flashed up and he pulled back as if McCoy had already bit him.
“Well, what the hell are we going to do now?” McCoy hissed. “We're stuck in here you short-sighted gumboot!”
Spock raised his hands, inches from touching McCoy's chest with how close they were. “Doctor, the guards will hear you.”
McCoy forced his voice to quieten slightly. He took a deep breath. “They're checking every damn room, what's going on with you to think they won't check the cupboards?”
Spock looked somberly at the door. “They will check the cupboards.”
If they weren't hiding right now McCoy would scream. He poked Spock in the chest hard, pushing him back slightly. Spock took the jab without comment. “I'll hide the memory stick. You figure what to say when they find us.”
McCoy rooted around his medkit. He had a scanner in here, and the memory stick was about the size of the device's battery. He pulled it out and snapped the battery pack open. He let the battery fall out, it was a cupboard, things like a battery on the floor were normal. The memory stick, thankfully, squeezed into place.
He dropped the scanner back into his medkit and found that Spock had unzipped his shirt, leaving it open to his blacks beneath.
“What in the hell are you- ?”
“Illicit affair. It is reasonable and will make them uncomfortable,” Spock said matter-of-factly. McCoy was gratified to see a slight blush across his ears. At least he had that.
“Of all the mad ideas.”
“Do you have a better suggestion? I am open to ideas.”
McCoy’s grit his teeth. This would be a mistake. “Sp- Spock, I’m- ”
“Doctor,” Spock interrupted sternly.
The door to the room beyond them opened.
Footsteps sounded, keeping at a distance.
Spock put his hand on McCoy’s chest, pushing him to the wall of the cupboard. “It will make them uncomfortable,” Spock whispered. “But if you will not, I will back you.”
It was the only idea they had. McCoy gave Spock one last glare, then pulled him in for a kiss by his shirt.
ooh the plot keeps forcing them to make out! And by the plot I do mean me, I keep forcing them to make out

when y/n gathering scrap to meet quota and heard a noise and quickly turn around to see coil-head stop moving they slowly walking backward to try not get killed, after a long while they managed to escape from the coil-head. now y/n heard a rumor about a very familiar entity with a funny nickname peanut (its scp 178 if your curious) but it have very valuable information to know since its familiar to coil-heads when looking at the enemy will not move until your not looking at it
"Just be cool..it's all for the Company...all for the Company...."
Uttering that small mantra, you approached the large humming machinery, your eyes being set directly on the prize: a glowing yellow apparatus. The powercell of this entire facility.
It was worth a good fortune in the name of meeting quota, although it didn't come without its risks.
Like plunging you into total darkness and being stupidly heavy to lug back to the ship.
Unfortunately your crew sent you to retrieve it alone, as they were adding up how much the scrap piles were worth, buying stuff on the terminal, and looking out for eyeless dogs.
But for all you knew, they could be doing fuckall while you're risking life and limb every second you remained in this building.
Then again, that's just a normal day when working for the Company.
You kept your scanner going, cradling the giant apparatus close to your chest. It was your only source of light right now, as your flashlight was out of battery--and it made you look like a giant walking target for whatever monsters lurked here.
Speaking of which-
--New creature data sent to the terminal!--
"...what did I just scan?"
Stopping in your tracks for a brief moment, you took a look around the room, not seeing any sort of creature moving...
Only to suddenly hear loud footsteps rushing at you from behind, and in panic you swiftly turned around. The glow of the apparatus illuminated something humanoid that stopped short in front of you, allowing you to fully take in its horrifying appearance.
It was a creature that looked like a mannequin, with nails piercing its body, no forearms, and its head attached to a metal spring that bobbed as it stopped in-place. It had two hollow eyes and a broken mouth that made it incapable of expressions...yet you felt very afraid staring up at it.
"Shit..th-there's something here, guys.." You muttered into the walkie-talkie, praying somebody would pick up.
"We see it." One of your crewmembers' voice responded. "It's...a Coil-Head. Just got the data."
"Coil-Head? That's what they call these things?"
"If you wanna get specific, it's a Vir colli-"
"Whatever, not important. How much longer do I have until midnight?" You huffed.
"You got time. You're close to the exit!"
"Okay...well what do I do about this thing? I'm looking right at it."
"This is gonna sound weird, but just..keep doing that and head for the exit. But whatever you do, don't l-"
*krrrrrrrt*
"...one more time? I didn't catch that last part."
"........."
"Oh my god..you're kidding me, right?" Briefly glancing at your walkie-talkie, you realized the battery died and groaned, although the Coil-Head suddenly moved an inch closer, its head bobbing violently. "Woah--okay, okay..I'll keep looking at you, I guess....I don't want any problems."
It didn't answer, and simply stared.
"Christ..why does something like this exist at all?" You mumbled to yourself, keeping a tight hold on the apparatus as you slowly backed away, trying to keep your ears and scanner open for anything that might creep up behind you.
God forbid it was another landmine, spider web, or Bracken.
This was genuinely terrifying, especially knowing you were wandering through a near pitch-black facility with this mechanical creature following you every time you had to break line of sight.
Now that you've lost all communication with your crew, the only way they could tell if you're alive was on the monitors. You didn't even know what time it was. All you could do was pray to whatever god was out there in this vast universe that you'd get back to the ship before they decided to take off without you.
Surely, they wouldn't abandon one of their own..
Then again, you were all told to do "whatever it takes" to survive long enough to meet the next quota.
Even if it meant ditching and killing each other, or leaving the moon's atmosphere before midnight to keep tabs on whatever scrap was salvaged for the day.
But regardless, you had to survive..and so you did your best to maneuver around the facility with the Coil-Head in your sights at all times.
Its mannerisms did remind you of some other creature you have researched from a different and not-so-ethical company. Although right now, you're not too focused on that.
Not dying was more important.
........
"You made it!!"
"Yeah, no shit..my arms are killing me.." Dropping the apparatus unceremoniously on the ship floor, you looked at your fellow crewmates--two of whom were arguing about which moon to route the ship to next, while only one acknowledged your close call with the Coil-Head.
At least somebody cares.
But now that you've had time to calm down, you remembered what you wanted to do once you returned here safely.
"Y'know, that Coil-Head reminds me of this one creature I've read about back on Earth..its mannerisms are similar." You hummed, before heading to the terminal, irritated by the arguing duo. "Move. I need to look up something."
"Oh thank god." One of the employees huffed, shaking her head. "Please jump on the terminal before this dumbass routes us to Titan and blows all our money."
"Why are you being so stingy?! We can afford it!"
"We can't afford dying just because you wanna go to the deadliest moon! You think it's gonna be like Experimentation? A cakewalk??"
"No but it sure as hell's gonna give us better loot! We may have an apparatus but it's not gonna sustain us!"
"...can you guys take this conversation elsewhere? I'm going in." You squeezed between the pair and managed to get your hands on the keyboard, pulling up the internet (with speed that sucked since the Company tended to be cheap like that).
Curious, they stopped their squabbling and looked to what you were typing, bringing up a data profile for a creature called-
"SCP-173?"
"Yep. Or as they call it, the Statue..but I like its nickname "Peanut" a little better." You chuckled as you read its containment summary and description. ""The object cannot move while within a direct line of sight...object is reported to attack by snapping the neck at the base of the skull"...yep....the vibes are similar. Interesting"
"I thought snapping necks was the Bracken's job." One crewmember joked. "You're telling me that Coil-Heads and this Peanut might be cousins?"
"Maybe whoever designed them took some inspiration...though I wonder how it could snap someone's neck if it doesn't have any hands.."
"I kinda wanna see that happen. Any volunteers?" The Titan-obsessed employee laughed, but the dead silence and blank stares they received from all three of you caused them to tense up. "...I-I was only kidding...jeez.."
"If we run into another Coil-Head, we're leaving you behind to stare at it."
"Wha----are you really that mad that I suggested going to Titan???" They snapped.
"Since you're acting like a total nincompoop who should know we don't have the proper equipment yet...yes." You answered flatly, to which they groaned in annoyance.
"You're all jerks...I wish I had a new crew."
"In space, no one can hear you whine. Now let's go to March. We still got one day left to make some extra bucks, okay?"
"Fiiiiine, "Captain". Whatever you say."

Mate
werewolf x reader who works at Walmart - just meeting. Kind of random but i get bored at work sooo....
"Yo, yo, yo, what's poppin?" I ask as I approach a couple with a baby, probably in their late 20s. My hand is already blindly grabbing for my name badge.
"Hi!" The woman says smiling, "The machine just stopped and said something about a scale. I'm just trying to weigh my zucchini."
The man next to her nods as he plays with the baby, as to back her up. I don't necessarily care.
My shins are starting to hurt... I thought the new ortho shoes would help...
My hands go through the practiced motion of taking whatever was on the scale off, pressing the button for zucchini, and then weighing it. Aka, the only way to weigh your produce that doesn't throw the machine into a hissy-fit.
"Easy-peasy," I slap on my customer service voice like the passed on Queen of England decided to step into Wal-Mart, "Just make sure to press the button beforehand, and then weigh the produce. And it's so funky." I try to make it relatable for the woman, "Some produce needs to be weighed and others need to be counted. It gets confusing." I smile and see her smiling in relief, thankful that someone understands her.
Someone does but it aint me. This is my whole ass job.
I smile and say the unforgettable 'Have a great day!' before leaving and having to walk around the self-check.
New big boss gonna fire me if I stop walking... fucking bullshit. I see a toy that was placed on a chip shelf and mess with it as I go to put it away.
"Hey! Hey! Girl!" Someone snaps their fingers at me. I close my eyes and take a deep breath, smiling a smile that would put Alastor to shame.
"Hello! What seems to be the problem today?" My customer service voice is getting strained as I see it's just an old man wanting to buy alcohol.
"The machine will need you to check my age when I buy this alcohol." He gestures to the cart that has it's undercarriage filled with Modelo.
I look at his order on his screen and scroll through it. "Well, sir, it looks like you haven't scanned it yet, so I can't give you the go ahead; But once you do, I can definitely give you the go ahead to buy it." I throw it back in his face, trying to make him feel as stupid as possible. He scoffs and takes the hand scanner off the terminal and it starts beeping loudly at him.
"Stop yelling at me!" He shouts, frustrated that it won't stop beeping and won't scan his beer.
"Well, sir, it is a machine, so it can't yell at you. It doesn't have a mouth. It's just beeping because the batteries are going out, but you can definitely wait until the hand scanner flashes green, and then it should work." I patiently wait for him to put it back on the terminal. And once it flashes green, he scans the beer.
The first notification, asking if the customer looks younger than 40, pops up. I look back at the man and size him up and down before pressing 'No'.
"Have a great day, sir!" I bounce away and continue walking around. I see a group of men who are all standing around quietly, just simply waiting. Their light is flashing red and they are being silent. It's definitely a nice change.
I walk over. "Hey there. Sorry to bother you, but I gotta fix this. Sorry." I look at the screen... and it's a mis-scan. My boss is gonna hate me...
"Sorry about the wait, guys! It's been a busy day." I think back to when someone dropped a whole gallon of whole milk and it leaked into the aisle next to it. We had to use two whole things of spill clean-up... my anxiety has been high ever since. Could also just be the 5 Hour Energy and Redbull I chugged, but meh.
"No problem. I could tell." The obvious leader of their band of friends talks, as if talking for the whole group. One of the guys has a faint blush on his face and the others are laughing, talking about their plans.
I watch the little video the camera produced and determine that it was just an old bag crossing over the scanner without being scanned... cuz it is an old bag.
"Oops. Looks like it's just the bag. The machine must've just gotten confused. Sorry about that." I smile and wave before giving them the go-ahead to keep scanning.
"No worries. Thank you."
"Anytime."
I think back to the one guy who was blushing and leaning on the cart's handle. He's kinda cute... and hot. What the fuck.
Meh whatever. Just focus on work- I did it, I did, I jumped-
"Hey! Girl! I need you to ring up my groceries for me!" I silently sigh and walk over.
"Of course, sir!"
Another day in the life of a person at Wal-Mart.

So i do have trouble running anything in my lap, but it is old and very basic but I can't really get a new one, how do i learn how to change its RAM, battery and anything that could make it perform better?
So I actually have a post that's a basic explainer on this kind of stuff, but here's my specific steps for figuring out if your computer can take more RAM, what kind of RAM it takes, and if/how you can install it.
If you're in a hurry or this entire thing looks intimidating, scroll down to the section with the pink text for a quick and dirty way to find what you're looking for that I don't wholly endorse because there are sometimes errors with this process.
This is literally my job, so while this guide won't cover all contingencies it is the basic process that I do every time I need to source upgrades for a computer.
How to Find RAM for your computer:
Step One: Identify the model of your computer. This is usually visible in a sticker with a barcode on the back of the tower or on the bottom of a laptop. If you aren't sure, you can search "how to find model number of [Samsung laptop][HP desktop][etc.]" I'm going to use a Lenovo M710e as my example here, because it was the computer I had to find RAM for yesterday.
Tumblr media
So, the ThinkCentre M710e is the product line and the model/product number is 10UR001JUS. The product number gives us the information about the specific configuration of that computer when it was sold, while the product line gives us the general information about configurations that were produced as part of this line. So for example, all M710e desktops will accept the same RAM technology, but the 10UR001JUS specifically came with 2x4GB RAM modules while another line might have come with 1x8GB RAM installed.
GENERALLY SPEAKING it is better for you to work from your product ID/product number/model number and not from the product line.
Step Two: Find out what memory technology your computer uses, what's installed, and what the max your computer will accept is. Most manufacturers will have spec sheets, so if you search the part/product number you will likely see a link from the manufacturer for the specifications of that device. Here's the one for this computer:
Tumblr media
So this tells me that the computer has 8GB total memory in 2 modules of DDR4 RAM with a speed of 2400 Mhz. When I am shopping for RAM the important numbers here are DDR4 and 2400. BUT this does not tell me how much RAM the computer can take or what the physical format of that RAM is, so I need to look a little more, which I do by searching "[model number] specifications," which brings me to a Newegg page that has more information about the specs:
Tumblr media
This shows me that the computer has 8GB of DDR4 2400 RAM installed in 2 slots. It shows that the computer only has two slots, and it shows me that the maximum RAM for the computer is 32GB. What this means is that if I want to upgrade the RAM I would need to remove a module from at least one of the slots.
RAM tends to come in 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB modules. If I wanted to increase the RAM in this computer for the least amount of money possible, I would add one 8GB module, and that would help the computer a lot, taking it from 8GB to 12GB. BUT if I wanted a higher performance for just a little bit more money, I'd replace both 4GB modules with 8GB modules. RAM is happier and works better when the modules in the computer match, so what I'd do is look for 2 8GB modules that are faster than 2400mhz.
Step Three: because I'm me and I was the one who initially ordered this computer five years ago and I have RAM upgrades for this model in my order history, this is where I would stop. But if it was for a computer that I wasn't familiar with, this is where I would check my work. I do this by going to the Crucial Memory tool:
Tumblr media
I'd click on "upgrade my computer" and I'd use the "upgrade finder" option.
Tumblr media
If you are searching for a RAM upgrade on the computer that you are currently using, you can use the Crucial Scanner tool which will read the specifications of your system and take you to recommended upgrades that Crucial thinks are compatible with your system. I do not 100% endorse doing this, and if you do use this option I recommend checking Crucial's work because I've ordered RAM on Crucial's recommendation in the past and then found that it was incompatible when we went to install.
But, like I said, I use the upgrade finder option. There are a TON of computers listed in this, so once you go through manufacturer (lenovo, in this example) and product line (for crucial, "product line" here means "thinkcentre") I'll use ctrl+F with "M710e" to find the actual product, because scrolling though this bullshit is for chumps:
Tumblr media
That takes you to a page with what should be your computer's specs and recommendations for product upgrades:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As I scroll through, looking for 16GB upgrades, I notice that all the RAM listed is 288 pin, which is the correct size for this computer. RAM tends to come in two physical formats for consumers, Desktop RAM and Laptop RAM. Desktop RAM is longer, Laptop RAM is shorter. There are some more complicated layers to that, but what it means is that I need to match the RAM in my search to the format the computer uses.
So let's say that I want to upgrade my computer here and I decide that I want to go with the 3200 speed. So instead of buying from Crucial (which you could do if you wanted to) I decide to shop around. If I search for "16GB DDR4-3200" on Amazon here's what I get:
Tumblr media
One of those is 288 pin and will fit in desktops, the other is 260 pin and will fit in laptops or very small form factor desktops. You need to make sure, either by checking the specifications from the manufacturer or on a ram compatibility site or PC part picker, that you are getting the correct physical format in addition to the correct size/technology/speed.
Step Four: Shop around. I prefer not to buy from Amazon when I can help it, and I like seeing what deals I can get. You *do* have the option of clicking "where to buy" on Crucial and there are usually several choices of where to get that specific Crucial part number, but I want to see if there are more generic options, or options from other brands I like.
Tumblr media
A newegg search shows me an A-tech 16GB kit with the specs I'm looking for, but at a higher price than Crucial. Poking around a few places doesn't show me any better deals than Crucial, so I go back over to the crucial site, click on "where to buy" for the product I want, and choose to get it from B&H because it's not amazon and I've got an account there.
Step Five: Figure out how to put the RAM inside of your computer. The easiest way to do this is usually to check IFixIt.com, a website designed to show people how to fix their computers.
Tumblr media
IFixIt has guides for some types of ThinkCentres but not an M710e. I can check out the M72e, because that's a pretty similar model, but then it turns out the page is a stub. So I search "how to upgrade RAM in Lenovo M710e" and I found the user manual, which has an diagram of the internal parts of the computer, an exploded view of where everything goes, and a section on replacing RAM modules.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Replacing RAM on most desktops is pretty simple, and if you haven't done it and this set of diagrams doesn't give you much information, I really recommend watching some videos from Paul's Hardware that show you how to handle computer components and identify what parts of a computer you're looking at.
Replacing RAM on laptops is usually a bit more complicated than on desktops. But sometimes it's even easier (one of my computers just had a little door on the bottom where you could add RAM if you needed to). Regardless, the principles are the same - there is a slot on the motherboard for you to put RAM in. Watch videos or look at tutorials for how to open up various kinds of computers and see if you're comfortable replicating those steps.
SOME CAVEATS:
Sometimes you can't add or replace RAM. Sometimes RAM is soldered directly on the motherboard. That should be noted somewhere in the manufacturer specifications.
Sometimes computers are more of a pain in the ass to upgrade than they're worth. Most ultra-slim laptops are difficult to get into and most all-in-ones are a *nightmare* to get into. Watch videos of people working on computers similar to yours before you buy anything to figure out if you're even going to be able to get into the damned thing.
On older laptops replacing the battery is very easy, on newer ones it's getting more difficult. Use the same process of identifying your computer model number to look up compatible batteries, then look up how to replace batteries. Sometimes they're just inaccessible and difficult to get at, and sometimes you literally don't even need tools besides your thumbs.
Anyway. That was kind of a lot. I hope it made sense. Check out the linked post at the beginning for tips on performance improvements outside of hardware upgrades, and good luck.

Salvation for a Broken Bot (Chapter 1)
An amateur repair girl finds a severely damaged android abandoned in a junkyard.
This first chapter is sfw but subsequent chapters will be 18+ only. Content warning for a description of a character in a state of disrepair with implied eye trauma.
If you have any questions or feedback feel free to comment or send me an ask!
Rose had visited the abandoned junkyard several times before, but this was the first time she'd come with the intention of stealing.
Half a mile away from anywhere of note, the only sign of civilisation was the distant hum of cars driving down the A22 in the distance. The sound felt relaxing to her, like the waves of the ocean.
She approached the chain link fence surrounding the complex. Someone had repaired the hole she used to enter last time, but she had come prepared. She rummaged around in her backpack and retrieved a pair of bolt cutters. Expertly praying apart rusty segments of fence with her tools, she breached the defences and found herself in a sea of discarded garbage.
From handheld items like phones and radios, to larger appliances like televisions and fridges, the junkyard had it all. But there was one particular prize she was looking for: A robot. It was rare but not unheard of for companies like Ashdown to dump their decommissioned workers in facilities like these, and she was planning on...
Hmm.
She wasn't really sure what she was planning on doing to be honest. Selling one for parts? Repairing it as a passion project? She told herself she'd figure it out later. There wasn't even a guarantee that there *was* anything here anyway. Better to not get her hopes up too early.
She gripped the scanner in her left hand. She'd spent the past week building it, the perfect device for combing for artificial life. The android designs that Ashdown Logistics pioneered had distinctive battery designs to accommodate for their intense workload, and it quickly became the industry standard. If she was able to locate a power supply with the scanner, she *should* be able to locate a bot. In theory. The scanner wasn't picking anything up yet though.
She turned on her torch and began walking deeper into the facility. The scanner's range wasn't particularly good due to the sensor she'd opted to use so-
Her eyes lit up in excitement. A figure! In the distance! Unmoving!
She crept up towards it, her eyes filled instantly with recognition: The body of a robot, slumped backwards over a pile of broken televisions, a steel rod driven perfectly through its left eye, pinning it in place. Most of its pure white hair had been torn away, the few remaining patches blowing gently in the wind.
Its chest had caved in as well, and the silicone plates that covered its rusted internals were covered with dirt and mould.
Rose wondered what had happened to it, how it could have gotten this damaged. It was hard to make it out in the state it was in but it seemed to be some kind of worker bot? Definitely not anything that would normally have combat experience, that's for sure. If any robot rights groups found out about this they'd be having a field day. But more than that... She wondered how her scanner never picked it up.
She ripped the steel rod out of its head and flipped it over. Its charging port was missing, a large cavity in its place. By the looks of it, someone had forcefully removed the battery and several other key components by the looks of it. What *happened* here?
A mystery like this was irresistible to her. If she could somehow repair it, she could interrogate it, and then she potentially had a story she could give to the press, or even one of the robot rights groups. They'd been springing up a lot recently and she was sure at least one of them would take interest.
She dragged the bot through the muddy ground, through the hole in the fence, and loaded it into her car.
Tumblr media
Rose sat on a chair in her workshop, staring at the android in front of her in contemplation. The first thing she needed to do was assess the damages and figure out if it was possible to salvage the bot. A more talented maintenance girl would probably know by now, but Rose was just a hobbyist, so she *really* needed to know what model it was.
The sticker with this valuable information on had long since been washed away by rain, so she had no choice but to begin disassembling its head in the hopes of finding a motherboard.
After half an hour's work, the bot's head laid sprawled out in pieces on her desk. She admired the beauty of the intricate mechanisms in front of her, how so many tiny parts could come together to form a believable imitation of a human face. At least, they would if they were in good condition. She could already tell that most of them had either rusted beyond repair or been badly damaged by the blunt force of the steel rod, so they'd have to be replaced. Still, the process should be simple enough once she got the model number.
Inspecting the motherboard, she noticed a peculiar chip with a pink heart on it. She'd never seen something like that before. She took a photo of it and made a mental note to reverse image search it later. Turning the board over, she was met with an unfortunate sight: The Ashdown Logistics logo, and the model number 4MB-3R.
Ashdown's androids were known for being made with parts that were as closed source and proprietery as physically possible. They refused to release any data sheets or schematics, and the parts that *could* be bought were insanely expensive. No one, not even the smartest engineers of their rival companies had been able to figure out how to create even an imitation of their personality chips, so they held a complete monopoly over the robotics industry.
Not only that, but the 4MBs were several generations ago. In fact, Rose was almost certain that they had been discontinued in 2002. By now, they were onto the 8MB range, which were mechanically unrecognisable from their 34 year old counterparts.
Rose slumped backwards into her chair. There was absolutely no way in hell she would be able to buy any replacement parts for this, and she doubted that she'd be able to find any more 4MB units, let alone a 4MB-3R. She had no idea what the difference between the sub units even was, but she was certain it would be significant enough to hinder her progress.
She sighed. It looked like she'd need to take matters into her own hands. There *was* a crude accessory that was compatible with most androids she'd encountered before: A modified cathode ray tube screen could be used to visualise a robot's thoughts. With some training, she was sure that the 4MB-3R could teach itself how to use one as a face. It wouldn't be a great solution by any means but it'd definitely be better than having a caved in, unmoving face. And it wasn’t like the bot would be stuck with it forever, just until she found something better to use.
As for the rest of the body? She could replace the charger port with an external charging system she had lying around, and she was sure she had some spare torso pieces buried *somewhere* in her workshop. There were obviously a lot more parts missing but it'd probably be best to get the basic functionality working first. After all, she wouldn't want to put effort into building a body for an android that might not even be capable of turning on anymore.
She gazed out her window wistfully, watching the cars pass by below her. In a way, Brighton looked like a giant circuit board, the roads forming tracks between the various buildings, which resembled cathodes, diodes and chips. Or perhaps it was the other way around, and circuit boards looked like cities.
Despite living in a bustling city, she could never shake away the loneliness she felt in apartment. She was a single, lonely electron in a vast uncaring circuit board, but perhaps she'd be able to find a companion in the form of this bot. And if not, it'd certainly give her something to take her mind off things for a while.

Spider's BackUp Plan
Should I be studying right now? Absolutely. Am i? No, but if I get this out maybe it will put me at ease enough to.
SO inspired by a reply from @silverringeddragon, I've been thinking about how scared Spider is that he'll be sent to Earth once he's old enough, or just the possibility of being made to leave, especially after that one occurrence in the comics where he was almost forced to leave with his foster family, and just what that would entail for him.
I've seen this in a few fics as well, so I just wanted to put my take out there.
I think Spider 1000% has a very detailed backup plan for if anyone attempts to send him to Earth when he hits adulthood.
In my mind, as soon as he was old enough to really conceptualize that fear, and doubly so after he almost had to with his foster family, he's been creating a stash of things he would need to run off and survive on his own in the Pandoran jungle. That would probably include spare exopacks, any exopack batteries he could swipe without getting caught, maybe some knives, a bio-scanner, a plethora of arrows, his own bow.
He probably doesn't hide it at Hell's Gate either. I'd imagine it's hidden in the crevice of a tree of in the side of a burrow. Something along those lines that no one would know about. I think the only person who would know is probably Kiri. I'd imagine he had a stash at Hell's Gate or wherever the foster home was, but after that incident, he decided to move it out, and probably either got caught by Kiri or asked her help to find a place.
So it's just this massive pile of exopack batteries, arrows he continues to fashion and add to his collection–survival stuff ya know, and maybe one or two personal items he really can't do without. Like that one picture of him and Paz that's an absolute non-negotiable. Maybe some childhood favorite comic book–a worn thing that one of the scientist had brought with them when first coming to Pandora and opted to give to Spider. Just little things.
I think the one thing Kiri wouldn't know about is Spider's backup-backup plan. The only thing Spider REALLY needs from Hell's Gate and the human settlement in general is exopack batteries. He can't do without them (to this knowledge if he's in fact not Eywa blessed). SO, if he ran out of exopack batteries and found himself in a position where he couldn't get anymore, I unfortunately think that Spider would try to give himself to Eywa.
Kind of like in @eirianerisdar 's fic Half Alive, I really think he would go to the Tree of Souls, take off his mask, and beg to be taken into Eywa.
Pandora is not only the one place he knows, but also a planet he has completely fallen in love with. He loves everything about Pandora from the flora and fauna to the Na'vi's customs and way of life. I don't think he would leave for anything, even if he ran the risk of dying. It would just be very in character. I think going to Earth and being shipped away from this world he is entirely enamored with would crush his soul.
And damn if that doesn't make me sad as all hell for him (as if I'm not already sad over him constantly, every day).
