Rose is a little bitch. He'd might get along well with Belos.

Their plans are almost the exact same thing.

Belos just wants to murder everyone, while Rose is , albeit misguidedly , trying to save everyone's future.

Both try and bring about a special day (day of unity ,and darkest day) thinking it will further their goal , and the very dangerous thing they've been messing with isn't going to come back and bite them ( The Collector and Eternatus)

They also had a teen under their control that they were manipulating (Leon won his champion title in his teens) . And yeah Rose gives off the same vibes as Belos but even more. Because Leon is his little poster boy for strong trainers looking out for galar's safety . So of course Rose would want to keep him on a tight leash, and to keep him loyal, like what Belos did with the grimwalkers .

They're both idiots.

We should have sent Rose out onto the roof to deal with Eternatus . Yes I know he'd lose (he's a steel type specialist and Eternatus has a fire type move), but maybe if Eternatus uses Rose like a squeaky dog toy , maybe it would've calmed down.

I just don't like Rose . Honestly I just want Eternatus to wreak his shit.

I’m intrigued at how much relative freedom they’re giving Omega. She’s not being kept in a cell all the time like the other clones. Though I suppose this is part of their plan to make Nala Se cooperate.

Is this attitude change Omega being ground down by what’s happening to her or something she’s doing deliberately to try and play along and be more cooperative so she can find out about more stuff? Also, that’s the second time she’s walked past Crosshair in the same spot at the same time of the day. That seems deliberate.

2. When I think I truly started to like them (or dislike them, if you've sent me a character I don't like)

It's not 100% clear to me, but it was definitely around the September timeframe of the novel (the first time I read it, in ‘22). I don't think it was OFFICIALLY too late for me until he met the Harkers at the end of September and Mina was like "Hey Jack. JACK. You keep your diary on all these wax cylinders, and they're not even LABELED?!" And Jack was like "...Um. Yeah, actually... that never even occurred to me." gOD, you IDIOT <3 (I may be paraphrasing). But it was this and several of his earlier blunders paired with his dogged determination to remain genre-blind and skeptical of everything that he was witnessing that ultimately endeared him to me. There Is Most Definitely Something Wrong With Him (derogatory) (affectionate).

He’s truly a problematic fave, but he’s my favorite character in the novel nonetheless!

4. How many people I ship them with

14. Best storyline they had

The incredibly tragic story, told in his own words, of how John “Jack” Seward, MD had to watch the woman he loved waste away and die of a mysterious ailment, interspersed with personal asides regarding how full of vigorous manhood all of his friends are, and how his former professor is so incredibly hot good at everything and spry for his age, but who also may be (in Jack's professional opinion) a touch crazy. Peak sopping wet noodle time, it’s amazing <3

21. When do you think they were at their happiest?

September 30: "I got home at five o'clock, and found that Godalming and Morris had not only arrived, but had already studied the transcript of the various diaries and letters which Harker and his wonderful wife had made and arranged. Harker had not yet returned from his visit to the carriers' men, of whom Dr. Hennessey had written to me. I mean, I’ve always liked him quite a bit (that voice, that tragic backstory, that Shakespearean flavor). But for whatever reason I didn't become obsessed until my rewatch last summer. CanNOT stop thinking about this man, the former king who has really just been a pawn his entire life; what he thinks, what he feels, how he's been going through the motions while searching for the one who betrayed him, yearning for a death that will not come for as long as he has. HE’S JUST SO SAD, YOU GUYS!!!!!

7. A quote of them that you remember

Every word that comes out of John Rhys-Davies’ mouth is SO GOOD, but the quote that sticks out the most is (of course) "KNOW her? I NAMED her." GODDDDDDD it's infinity good and I never get tired of hearing it, not even once (and since they use it in every relevant "Previously On," you hear it A LOT). It's ok though, because they 5000% knew what they were doing with that one.

Some other choice one-liners:

"I'm just… so... tired" is also top-tier delivery, and does a really great job of summarizing his entire existence since 1057.

"And I know how to read them" is such a sassy retort (and a GREAT callback to “Lighthouse in the Sea of Time”).

“For that matter… WHY ARE WE WORKING TOGETHER?” is sooooo *chef’s kiss.* Enjoy being a walking, talking meat puppet with your worstie for several more months, my guy!

20. A weird headcanon

Ummmmm soooooo I designed a gargoyle form for Mac as my headcanon for what he would've looked like in "The Mirror" (of course I did). My Watsonian explanation for why we didn't get to see him that night is he was way too busy getting drunk off his ass and crying over his long-dead wife (yet again) :C

22. When do you think they were at their lowest?

990-some-odd years is a looooong time to find your lowest point. Even though moments like Gruoch’s marriage to Gillecomgain, his first “death”, and the endings of “City of Stone” and “Sanctuary” were pretty low moments for him, I’m quite sure his lowest point was never actually seen on the show (centuries-long depression isn’t exactly Disney Afternoon-friendly). The day(s) he found out about Luach and Gruoch’s deaths were obviously waaaaay up there. I imagine he had a really rough time of it during the Black Plague, so I’ll say his lowest point was somewhere in there :C :C :C

I do hope he was able to enjoy the Renaissance a little, tho. I’ll bet he commissioned a lot of art.

Chidori Yoshino. Yes, she was party to multiple murders. No, there was no real goal or justification beyond money. Yes, she was utterly indifferent to the blood on her hands. No, she never really changed her mind about that or ever came to understand why standing idly by and letting Takaya murder people who she helped track down was bad, nor did anyone ever really try to explain it to her. Yes, she kind of just said "whatever man" and went off to have her own character arc completely divorced from the murder. No, I do not care. She is my precious little angel she didn't deserve anything that happened to her she needs all the love and understanding in the world.

Clive Dove. MFW I'm traumatized and orphaned as a child and the man responsible not only faces no consequences but even becomes Prime Minister and so I build an entire fake future London underground beneath the real London and conspire with a man who created an actual real functional time machine to trick some people and kidnap the prime minister and smuggle him away and make a fake evil future version of the guy who comforted me after my parents died and then pose as the future version of his apprentice to get close to him and kidnap his daughter also at one point and really just let everything get out of hand up until the point I get caught and hop into an enormous mechanical fortress and pop out through the ground slash ceiling of my fake future london to start smashing the shit out of the real london all the while the woman who literally travelled through time is like damn i'm dying and now my bf and i cant even have a nice last date. Anyway Clive is peak and he should have faced zero consequences for this. But Bill Hawks needs to die ASAP.

Leonard Church. The misogynist of all time. He loved his wife who he constantly referred to as a horrid bitch so much. He loved his daughter who he neglected and emotionally abused by comparing her to the impossible standard of her dead mother soooo much. He loved himself so fucking little that he tortured himself to create an AI out of himself and then he tortured the AI to try to create a new version of his wife out of his own memories. The neglect and emotional abuse of his daughter is continuing in a big way throughout this tbh. Then he accidentally tortures his AI self too much to the point where AI him loses his memory and his fake-ass AI wife who despises him now for what he did has to kidnap him from himself and now he's just back to being a huge asshole who calls his wife a horrid bitch all the time. And then he can eventually develop a conscience and start to remember more and more (and cause irreversible trauma and brain damage to wash at one point in there oops) and then even though he still doesn't remember her, he can team up with his daughter to track down his original, human self to stop him from continuously committing war crimes and human rights violations in his efforts to resurrect his wife. and he can finally put his wife who he calls a bitch to rest. I'm not gonna say I love you... I'm gonna say... I forget you. I'm letting you go. And then he can die pathetically as a human while his better AI version sticks around with his daughter who he still doesn't really remember for a while until he eventually has to sacrifice himself as well. And ain't that just a bitch.

(I'm asking you bc you're someone I follow who I've seen use it and I trust you to actually try to answer my question)

so just to be clear on other vocab:

blorbo: this is applicable to any character you obsess over. if they're in your head constantly and you have a 3d model of them in there that you shake around and rotate 360 degrees all day like a rotisserie chicken and u just think they're neat!!!! that's a blorbo. blorbo is a catch-all for this phenomenon, whereas Glup Shitto is a more specific sub-genre of blorbo generally used to specify the media from which that blorbo comes from; Glup Shitto is a blorbo inspired by Star Wars style names, so if someone makes a post about Glup Shitto you can basically imagine what the fandom is like, whereas a blorbo can be from anywhere or anything.

all of these words are abt what u feel in ur heart tho. blorbos can be OCs, blorbos can be from ur shows. blorbos can be mentioned in a single line of text or be a blurry extra in a movie that u just become obsessed w - that's a blorbo, baby. it's blorbo, your favorite!

I have a homestuck question (deepest apologies). I once read it for my ex gf in middle school (breakup unrealated she just moved) (mentioning this because I have heard of homestuck related breakups). I liked it. I never was in the fandom. But I hear everyone going homestuck fandom (derogatory) (cringe) (war flashbacks). My question is was it worse than the spop discourse?

The maybe 2 years of spop discourse, which amounts to "catradora bad", "entrapdak bad", and a little bit of "glimmer bad", is absolutely nothing compared to the 10 YEARS of whatever the fuck was going on in homestuck.

EDIT: this isn't a list of "things I think Hussie did wrong" (the majority of it was at worst questionable writing which isn't a sin), it's "things the fandom completely imploded under".

(Hussie HAS done many things wrong, particularly with Hiveswap and WhatPumpkin, but i have not mentioned most of that here)

Vriska x Meenah - A 13 year old + whatever many years dead person starts dating a 19 year old + whatever many years dead person. For maybe half a chapter before the younger ghost is left for her living 16-year old self. When the two ghosts made out Hussie declared it as.....

"A gay singilarity that will make KorraSami look like republican propoganda". Yeah. Hussie really said this about Homestuck. Before he split up that same pairing and made the alienating transphobic nightmarescape that was the epilogues and HS2.

Dave/Karkat - sincerely one of the better choices Hussie made, and yet, i have never seen anything so aggressively labelled as "gay pandering" by a cishet male fanbase. Best mlm ship i know unfortunately.

GamRezi - this is a canonically abusive pairing where Gamzee emotionally abuses Terezi at her most vulnerable to breaking point. Ends with Terezi trying to kill Gamzee, freaking out at her actions, and Gamzee beating her half to death in broad daylight, before they all die anyway. Why is this controversial? Because......

Gamzee brain washing - there is reason to believe that Gamzee was under a bit of mind control and a LOT of religious influence, so half the fan base treated him like a poor little meow meow, victim to Terezi and then Vriska's abuse, while the other half wanted his head on a stick for abusing/killing characters. Sound familiar?

The retcon - so yeah the story unwrote a whole 2-3 years worth of character progression because of time travel shenanigans and replaced it with a single clipshow flash and a bit of dialogue. People who enjoyed the previous felt bamboozled and copped out.

The End of Homestuck - Lots of talking, then suddenly everyone stops talking completely between the final battle and the ending. The final battle flash was a bit cool, but lacked the substance of other much shorter flashes. Then Act 7 is a 9 minute video of a tadpole making a universe, we didn't see the final bliw get delivered to Lord English, and also.....

Terezi wasn't in the new universe so I bawled my eyes out and made "Where the fuck is Terezi?" into a meme. By and large the most infuriating part because people jumped to the conclusion she killed herself. It's like the whole "PB is dead in Together Again" theory. Or if in She-Ra, a very lonely and fan-favourite character like Entrapta had just vanished after Prime was dragging her over a cliff and was cast out of those much-needed ending reunions. Anyway, Terezi wanted to be with Vriska, who may have died in act 7. So yeah this weird omission became a problem for 6 months before....

The credits. Ok these were mostly OK but it confirmed John was getting depressed, and Terezi threw happiness away and went into space all by herself to find Vriska who was still MIA. This was where HS ended until....

The Epilogues. The Epilogues and HS2 are the biggest shitstorm of content I have seen in my life. And that alone has had enough discourse to make the prior 10 years of Homestuck look like a friendly conversation.
