Obi-Wan wakes up in the Jedi Temple in the middle of the night with the feeling that something is terribly, terribly wrong. Anakin's mind is screaming, screaming with emotions overwhelming, ones that make no sense, and Obi-Wan bolts out of bed because emergency, emergency.
His sense for his former Padawan does not take him to Anakin's room. Instead, it takes him to the creche, where he finds the young knight staring down at all the sleeping children, silently weeping, an inutterable storm inside his mind.
"Anakin?" Obi-Wan questions, gently.
Anakin turns to him and sobs. "They're alive," is all Obi-Wan hears, words bleeding into the force with grief, guilt, shame, horror, self-destruction, and above all, relief.
Obi-Wan steps forward, reaching for the boy he raised. "What happened, Anakin?" he says, careful with his touch.
Not careful enough, as he is assaulted by memories of a soul much, much older than he would have expected, hands stained in the blood of billions, stained in Obi-Wan's own blood. He feels Anakin die, suffocating under burning lungs, overwhelmed by lightning. He sees his own death, the death of Padme, an Anakin who went to his grave never knowing his daughter and barely knowing his son, never seeing either of them with his own eyes. Planets die. Cultures, peoples, annihilated. And it all starts in this room, with a single ignited lightsaber and a question from a terrified child.
Obi-Wan see tears stream down the broken face of the man who once was Darth Vader in a body that has never yet been Vader, met with the understanding that Anakin did not see a vision or premonition--rather, he lived, a cursed half-life of monstrous grief and regret, to see it end early and in pain, and that a power as-yet-undreamt of he has been returned to his own younger body, granted that rarest of gifts, possibly the rarest gift in the history of the galaxy:
A second chance. The chance to make things right.

I have some timetoys/docmaker ideas, some of which I'm working on.
One features the timeless child at the beginning of Gallifrey, running away from being forced to regenerate again and ending up in the celestial toyroom, and it being the first time the Doctor and the Toymaker met, unbeknownst to the Doctor.
one features an AU of Utopia where in her attempt to get away from Jack, the Tardis skims the edge of the Celestial Toyroom. The Doctor gets them away - but when the Master steals the Tardis and the doctor locks the coordinates, it counts the Toyroom as the last place they went, so the Master Martha Jack and the Doctor have to team up to get away.
A ridiculously long fic I will never write where the Fourteenth Doctor, finally healed after time with Donna and the Temple-Nobles, regenerates to return to Unit Tower as 15 because Fourteen was a watcher all along - but he ends up moving farther then he should and wakes up young Theta Sigma is staring into the Vortex. At some point when Millenia and Rallon suggest stealing a Tardis he says no and says they shouldn't and thinks without him they won't go because they can only fly it with three people - but they get Koschei to go with them, so the Doctor has to go to the Toyroom to save his friends, and also not get them all killed when he beats the Toymaker and the toyroom is destroyed. This would only be one part of this fic cause the aim would be to to a peggy sue version of ALL OF DOCTOR WHO hence why this is a ridiculously long fic I will never write.
And the one I'm working on features things going differently when the Doctor and Donna get separated in the Toymakers shop backrooms.

I read your fanfics and I really enjoyed them! Hers is the Fury is my new favorite wormward crossover, and Janus has to be my favorite Peggy Sue! Also, you absolutely nailed Purity! That was the best fanfic Kayden, in my opinion! Wonderful lack of self-awareness!
Sorry for the late reply, but thank you!
Hers Is the Fury is a lot of fun to write Victoria trying to be the best hero she can be, while dealing with a world as toxic as Westeros.
And Janus is just really fun to have Victoria and Taylor interact. Writing Purity was making sure that, while she downplays her racism internally, it's still prevalent in her priorities and actions.
I hope you've enjoyed everything I've done since this Ask!

Fanfic idea where Katarina gets memories of the later books (maybe by hitting her head again?) and goes to tell the adults about the serious plot points (what happened to Raphael, dark magic, Sarah, etc), but crucially this happens a few years after the harem is already formed.
So while the adults “are” working on dealing with those problems, they’re also trying to probe Katarina on whose favorite was winning her heart in the future, but have to deal with her obliviousness.

Why did I always think your icon was a picture of a cat😭
Here I made a recreation so you can see what I mean
Tumblr media
I am genuinely shocked to discover that your icon is not, in fact, a cat.🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
that honestly makes so much sense it's a lot more likely for an icon to be a picture of a cat than an old selfie from a weird angle
now I'm wondering if I should have changed my icon to a picture of one of my cats bc they are arguably what I have the most pictures of. like either of these would be a solid icon choice

Fanfiction Review: Relic of the Future
A completed Jaune centric RWBY work by the ever prolific RWBY fanfic author Coeur Al Aran, Relic of the Future is probably one of his best works. At 1.1 million words, it’s also his longest. The story follows Jaune Arc, sole survivor part of the final attack on Salem. His friends and family dead, he’s lamenting his fate, when the dying Salem offers him a chance to go back in time and try and fix it. He gets a second chance to stop her with less casualties, and she gets a second chance to win. Stricken with grief, Jaune accepts, and gets sent back. Unfortunately, he gets sent back much further than he anticipated, a good decade before the start of canon. Undeterred, he sets out to fix things with his knowledge of the future, save his friends, and ultimately defeat Salem. The characterisation in this one, always one of Coeur’s strong suits, is fully on display here. Everyone depicted here develops both realistically and in interesting ways over the course of the story, leading to unique twists and changes to canon. What’s more, is that the plot and pacing are very good, building up to a solid ending, normally one of Coeur’s weaker traits. The dialogue is great, with most characters having a distinct voice, keeping both tone and wording expected of them. It also avoids one of the major pitfalls of such works, in that Jaune does not become some super powerful badass. Jaune is strong, yes, and grows stronger over the course of the narrative. But much of that is due to experience, and the fact that he fights smarter, not harder, along with taking a very pragmatic approach to combat. There’s no such thing as a fair fight when you’re fighting for your life, after all.
With regards to the weaker aspects, there are a few dropped plot threads, something expected of such a long work, and somewhat endemic to Coeur’s longer narratives. Speaking of, the length is something some people will also find a little daunting, though in my opinion, I find it more of a bonus than a detriment. There is also the fact that the rest of the RWBY mainstays, including the majority of the main cast, have very little time in the spotlight, which might aggravate some readers. All in all, it’s an outstandingly good piece, well worth the time investment. It’s the kind of work that you’ll come to enjoy the characters like old friends, feeling like you’re losing them when the story finally ends. If you like Peggy Sue fics, Jaune as the main character, and years long narratives, or at the very least, have nothing against them, I would definitely recommend this.

Choose Your Own Adventure
Snow White - 01
You wake up in your childhood bedroom. It feels like a dream. Just like the last time you saw it, it was sparsely decorated with old and worn toys, with a threadbare rug only covering a small part of the cold flagstones. Your stepmother sold or took for herself a lot of your comforts years ago. At the time, you were glad to have kept your room, but in the winters it was quite difficult to heat.
Your bed, which hadn’t been replaced since you were 5, is small and cramped, and the mattress you’ve made yourself out of old clothing and stuffed with down from scouted feathers and kitchen waste has started a new hole.
Or rather, you slowly realize, it’s not exactly a new hole. It’s one from several years ago. You tore it in your sleep after a nightmare. Two days later, you have another nightmare, tear it further, and in the morning, meet your prince. Then, later in the evening after a harrowing run through the haunted stretch of the woods, your friends the dwarves.
You pinch yourself all over, but you don’t wake up, and simply add a couple more bruises. You’re actually back. Back before your curse and resurrection.
You hear a banging on the door. “Snow White!” It is your old Head Maid, Marianne. You usually woke up on time, before Stepmother was awake, but occasionally Marianne had to get you up. “She’s already up! New job. She wants the whole west garden wall exterior scrubbed in 3 days. Best get started. The cook made biscuits this morning, he’s keeping some ready for you.”
Having been unsure of what to do, you’re grateful for these directions. You throw on your thickest dress (kneeling on the wet stones all day was especially distressing, and the wet maid your knees sensitive) and hurry downstairs to the kitchen. Jakob, one of the assistant cooks, gestures an elbow to a pan with two rolls left.
It’s a little refreshing to be so casual with one of your countrymen again - it’s been at least a decade since you’ve been crowned Queen of your homeland and princess regent of your husband’s - but you know you don’t have time to reflect on that. Your old instincts and routines take over, and you know Stepmother will be done with her tonics and tinctures soon.
If she’s in a bad mood - which considering your assignment and what you remember, she is - she’ll want to come and observe you personally for a while, and you need to be at least started if you want to avoid further punishment.
You start the thankless task, scrubbing away at the moss that grows between the stones. Aesthetically, it’s quite a pleasing sight, but you know how detrimental to maintenance the fungus really is. You reminisce about how simple your plans were the first time you did this.
You were already planning ahead, trying to keep an eye out for dry moss, and collecting the fungus in a separate bucket to hopefully get enough to make a pillow. This time, knowing what would soon happen, you don’t bother, and the work goes by faster. Stepmother does step in, but seeing you move faster in this timeline, has less to scold you about.
Your daily torture out of the way, you start thinking ahead. According to your staff, the reason she tried to have you killed suddenly was because the Magic Mirror decided you were prettier than she, in two days time. By the end of the day, you come to a decision.
*getting help from the dwarves. You have a feeling some events are important for your survival.
