yeah i know everybody has said this or thought this before. will that stop me from making paragraphs after paragraphs? no.

annabeth and percy are actually the perfect duo.

no i don’t just mean in their relationship.

annabeth, (being the daughter of athena and all) will always be the one coming up with attack strategies or tricks. but…percy is so good at actually pulling them off.

in one book she says she’s all ideas, not mechanics. while she might be a good fighter, she isn’t as good as percy. whatever insane idea she might have, percy will do it. he’s also brave, which helps with the fact that most of her ideas involve distractions and lots of fighting and trickery.

not that he’s not smart and he can’t do anything like that. but, with many books as an example, he likes simply charging in. he doesn’t really go in with a “strategy.” most of the time it works out anyway because he’s *super* powerful.

but think of how many times he would’ve been absolutely obliterated if annabeth hadn’t kept him on the right track. she thinks ahead. he thinks moments before he gets his face socked in. i just think this is another reason that they’re perfect together. annabeth is basically just telling him what to do while he obliterates everyone. you cannot tell me otherwise.

(P.S.- i was reading the demigod files and got this idea cause we’ve all thought this, but i just realized how big it is.)

is it just me or does the circe's island scene and the siren's bay scene parallel each other so perfectly in sea of monsters. in both scenes, a harmful entity shows percy/annabeth a vision of their idea of perfectionism. and in both scenes, both of them put themselves in harm's way thinking that they were going to achieve this vision while in reality they were in danger, and had to be rescued by the other. and both scenes are followed by a comforting hug. but the thing is; the different ideas of perfectionism shown to percy and annabeth align perfectly with their view of life. annabeth hates her life; she feels confident in herself but still hates her broken family, the itching to become great even though she feels so powerless, luke. but percy is different. he hates himself, inside and out. so annabeth saw her life fixed. percy saw himself fixed.

Hey hey hey, remember how Drew (and Lacy) was mentioned as going to the same school as Sadie in The Serpent's Shadow? So it's like. Implied the two of them are a similar age, especially since they clearly interact plenty, with Sadie knowing her full name and such? I dunno about you, but I never interacted much with kids out of my age range at school, so it's basically implied they're close in age — when Sadie is thirteen (Lacy being said to be a year younger than her).

So, like. What if Drew's. Younger than Piper, actually? By like. A year or so, so she'd be fourteen, rather than the popularly accepted 16/17. I know The Lost Hero tries to say the oldest demigod at the cabin automatically becomes counselor unless challenged by someone who's been on more quests, but Annabeth was counselor at twelve, so I call bullshit and accept the demigod-that's-been-at-camp-the-longest rule as the one automatically takes the role when needed (also, there's nothing saying fourteen wouldn't be the oldest in the cabin post-war, anyways). So Drew could easily not be the oldest in the cabin, and still have to deal with suddenly being head of her family, on top of her older sister being revealed as a traitor, the grief of losing several siblings and friends, and the PTSD that comes with being a soldier.

I just think that'd be very fun for her <3

(And then just. Imagine Piper realizing that maybe she's the oldest, and her younger siblings took part in a war (that was arguably worse than the Giant War Piper was a part of), and maybe that's why Drew's a bit too much of a bitch sometimes, rather than just Girly Girls being automatically evil.)

the way that luke tried so hard to get percy to join him in comparison to him plotting percy’s death via scorpion in the books is tbh so so good for story building. percy doesn’t understand luke’s motivations this early in the story so seeing luke beg percy and try to get him to understand is just so painful and makes the betrayal hit so much harder

The fear and shaking. Percy apologizing for actually hurting him. The look of horror on Luke’s face as Annabeth comes in. How horrified he looks when he looks down at Percy, who he HURT. “OH, IN olmypus name.” (name) murmured to herself as she stepped inside the camp’s annual gala. it was being held in the big house.

chiron thinking it was a good idea for campers to unwind and relax after all the wars, battles, quest, yada-yada.

(name) was merely forced by her other siblings, which took a lot out of them. she just hoped she wouldn’t find —

“sunshine!”

danggabit. (name) bit her lip as a certain curly-haired made his way towards her, his smile ever so bright and wide.

she wore her black gown, her hair down and some pretty jewelry on. nothing too grand, but enough for a gala such as this.

(name) had managed to stay in the shadows for as long as she could remember. but when leo had found her, it seemed like he made it his lifelong quest to always bother her.

she didn’t mind it, to say the least, she liked leo’s company.

but she was always so nervous around him.

“leooo..” she trembled a laugh, trying to find assistance from her siblings, but split up as soon as they got inside.

leo looked at her up and down, “my. my. very pretty.” he took her hand and kissed the back of her black-gloved hand. she rolled her eyes, “hello to you too.” she replied, shyly taking her hand back.

leo looked.. clean. is all that (name) could think of. but not half bad, with his brown tux and his hair falling very nicely on his face.

the boy merely laughed. “come on, chiron’s just about to make those boring ‘ol speeches.”

“oh, enticing.”

“tell me about it.”

he extended his arm to her, and without thinking, she took the arm and slinged it around her own.

“.. AND THAT’S how, i almost got my head stuck in the campers’ toilet.” chiron finished off. (name) yawned, but leo chuckled softly beside her at the counselor’s story.

it was relatively quiet after the speech, most campers we’re just in their own world.

(name) admitted, she liked the quiet, but this was.. weird quiet.

leo had caught her thought, taking her hand as he stood up, “come on. i got an idea.” he whispered as he leaned in by her ear.

she flushed, taking her to the dance floor. “hey, play us something?” he called out to the dj. the masked dj nodded, playing something more upbeat and fun to cover the silence.

leo danced and swayed to the beat, hitting every rhythm satisfyingly, his best friend sadly standing awkwardly on the floor.

he frowned, “come on sunshine! just feel the music! not that hard!” he took her hand and spun her around, “wo-aah.” she picked up her feet from crashing.

she leaned her hands on his arms for support, “feel, the music.” he mouthed. she smiled, finally feeling more comfortable and following leo’s steps.

“yeah— yeah, you’re doing it!” he called out, giving her another twirl. the campers, very inspired, picked up their own feet and began dancing on the floor as well.

quickly, the dance floor was packed with other campers, all laughing and singing together. she was awe-strucked. had they really done that?

“feels good, huh?” leo nudged her hip with his own. she giggled, “yeah.. i guess so.” she smiled. leo had mirrored her smile, kissing her cheek.

she flushed again, stopping her tracks and rubbing her cheek in shock. leo laughed again, “dance with me, (name)!”

༉‧₊˚✧

THE NIGHT ended off with leo walking (name) back to her cabin, since well,, her siblings knocked out hours prior. he held her heels in his hands while she wore his shoes, leaving leo in his socks.

not that he really mind.

she continued to sling her arm over his, “so..” she trailed.

“so..?” he chuckled softly. “are.. we?” she tilted her head to him. “yeah, if you, well— if you wanna.” he smiled. she gleamed, “mm.. i’ll have to think about it.” she rubbed her chin teasingly as she watched leo pout,

“hey now wait a minute!” he exclaimed, “shh!” she covered his mouth with her palm as she looked around the dark camp. leo laughed again his lips covered by the girl’s hand.

“i carried your shoes for you and was the first to break you out of your comfort zone— the least you could do is be my girlfriend, little miss misery.” he rolled his eyes, watching her remove her palm from his face.

she giggled again, “then you have a deal fireboy.”
