As much as i like to entertain the idea that Pixal kept her Samurai X identity a secret for so long because she felt ashamed of departing from her established 'assistant' role in Zane's headset but also liked having a body too much to give it up, i do think the infinitely funnier option is that she just did it to fuck around with them. I mean cmon. Go rewatch season 7 and try to tell me Pixal wasnt having at least a little bit of fun dunking on everyone

does anyone else like,,, not remember ninjago season 7. like i swear i watch that season and immediately forget everything that happens in it. i cannot tell you a single thing that happens in that season. i could not explain the plot line if you held a gun to my head. i have seen it at least 3 times. why does this happen.

Okay but why does this official Hands of Time concept art go this incredibly hard? What the actual hell? Why does this look like the single most kickass thing ever? Also in the original concept for the finale, they were going to low-key imply that Cole dies. Is that why he's not present here? I can only IMAGINE. This is just so cool. I want this.

I know I say we're too nice to the time twins, but I've got to say that placing Acronix at odds with his brother makes a lot of sense with his canon characterization, and part of the reason s7 feels a bit off to me is, in fact, the way Acronix just goes along with his brother's plan, you see, s7 does a pretty good job of making the twins feel like different people with distinct personalities; in fact, it does too good a job, because Krux's goal is essentially to destroy everything his brother is so passionate about, which should cause tension, but it just doesn't. Krux never considers that his brother might be unhappy in a world were technological progress is prevented, and Acronix never considers this either.

In canon, what should be at least worthy of a serious discussion, if not outright mutiny by Acronix, is relegated to playful sibling banter, so the fact that so many fan depictions give us an Acronix that goes against his brother makes perfect sense, and indeed feels very satisfying when contrasted with canon. Because Krux's plans go against Acronix's interests, a heel face turn from him is a natural narrative choice and may actually feel more in character then actual canon. It also allows him to be a more active force, as, in canon, he's a very passive presence, once he meets up with his brother, he basically exists to have Krux's plans explained to him.

When your Sibling doesn't like your Love Interest - Ninjago: Jiang Smiths Siblings

Kai about Jay liking Nya

You know how Kai looked ready to kill Jay when he first met him, just for showing an interest in Nya.

How Kai would mess with Jay in Season 1.

But he accepted the relationship in Season 6/7 (just so long as he doesn't have to see a Jaya kiss).

And even helped Jay practice his proposal in Season 10.

Yeah ...

Kai is not the only Jiang Smith Sibling who doesn't like the idea of someone dating their sibling.

First the slightly backhanded complement:

"Skylor's right, look at her, she could have inherited her father Chen's evil empire and ruled the world but instead dedicated her life to spending her day bent over a hot stove to provide low cost quality noodles to the people of Ninjago city."

There was definitely a nicer way to say that, Nya, especially when Skylor's response to that statement was the following:

Skylor had brought out two bowls of noodles, the type that always cheered her up, so as to cheer up the siblings but in hearing Nya, she then says,

"Gee, when you put it like that. *Sigh* Let me get some of those"

And then takes Nya's untouched bowl to cheer herself up

But also:

(And before you say, but maybe Nya just doesn't know because she and Kai didn't have their parents. First, a dedicated parent can get their kids properly using chopsticks by age five; but even if you say that they just don't know the rules on etiquette - your telling me that there wasn't at least one busybody old lady that would reprimand a small child for bad manners - not to mention Wu when the siblings start living with the Ninja)

Yeah, Nya's much more subtle but I don't think she's quite ready for the idea of her brother dating.

That or she just doesn't approve of Skylor being Kai significant other.

P.S.

To me Nya, sometimes, kinda comes off as that girl who was raised by her single father. She's moving out of the house, ready to have her own life away from her dad only to find out that he's started dating - and she is not happy about it.

She also, sometimes, kinda comes off like she knows that Kai, for her, was more than a brother, that he was her father - but she doesn't want to acknowledge it / is not ready to acknowledge it, because that would mean talking about the bad parts of their life, while growing up.

Has anyone else noticed how pissed of Krux was in the episode day of the departed after Dareth broke a hole in the wall of the museum? Aaaand the fact that in season 7 Krux actually got his revenge when the vermilion warrior beat Dareth up in the borgstore? Anyone?

one thing that absolutely baffles me in the fandom is when people say that kai and nya’s parents — ray and maya — were stupid and didn’t care for their kids when they were captured/kidnapped.

people say this because of the flashback scene when the parents are explaining what happened to them. they describe: being sat chatting with dr saunders (krux), then him suddenly switching and pulling out a sword on them, threatening that if they don’t come with him then their children would be hurt.

the scene looks simple, and to be fair it DOES look stupid on their part at first because they can very easily fight him off — they were skilled ninja and warriors after all. but what people don’t realise is this is the story they told their children.

it is highly likely that they missed out some things. i really doubt that krux came alone and managed to take them, maybe some accomplice had joined him. i also refuse to believe that after this ray and maya didn’t try to escape at all. it is so clear to anyone that they love their children so much and they want to spend time with them. they wouldn’t have just accepted it at first at all. they would’ve fought krux, tried to run back to their children, disobey krux, etc.

the reason why maya and ray may not have explained all this is simple; they have not yet realised just how much their children have grown. they do not know about anything that has happened to them prior to this, they don’t know anything. they may have just been trying to shield them from the actual reason so far, as it is clear they were all very emotional from the sudden reunion.

tl;dr — ray and maya told kai and nya a different story of how they were kidnapped to make sure they didn’t upset them more and that’s why the scene in the show looks so stupid.
