As the master of water, is Kai less arrogant and hotheaded than in canon ? He doesn’t have reason to compete with the Ninja and just wants his sister to be safe. It would be nice if he cared like a big brother to Nya and Lloyd and is just caring and calm :)

Yes, both Kai's and Nya's personality is a little changed compated to canon, because of their powers and experience.

Kai is less hotheaded and isn't arogant and as you said, here he isn't a ninja, so he doesn't compete with others and just wants his sister to be safe. He also plays an important role for Lloyd as a Big Brother.

Kai is usually clam and carring, but also often irritated and flustrated, which is cused in the early seasons, during fighting scens.

Kai feels flustrated, because he feels useless and pretty not as strong as other ninjas. His flustrated, because he's the older brother and still can't do much to help his sister.

He feels also irritated by the fact how Nya (and sometimes others) treat him in that time. His sister doesn't want him to fight, because she's worried. Kai knows well that he's able to protect himself and fight. Maybe not as effective as they, but still. He is irritated by the fact that they treat him like a damsel in distress, even though he is able to help.

But fortunately Kai is also very fast at calming himself (besides panic attack at the sight of water), so he isn't angry later.

These two character traits disappear over time after he finds out about being master of water and masters his powers.

Later he becomes more 'chill going' and 'goes with the flow'.

He's able to easier adapt to the situations and has more control over his emotions than before.

Nya also is a little diffrent.

Nya would be more determineted and would get easy angry when nothing works for her.

She's a hard worker, who wants to achive her goals. She will work even for hours to finish it.

But when something doesn't work or just very struggles with it, then she'd become angry very fast and it'd be very hard to calm her down.

I'd say she's a little hotheaded..

For example when she works with Jay on some kind of knew machine. Everything is great until there's something that doesn't work.

At first it's fine. Nya works hard to fix it or try to find what is the cause of not functioning. But after the fourth or sixth attempt, she gets angry.

She won't calm down, until she finishes it or the anger will eat her alive.
