I definitely think Njörd was a much better parent than Odin but damaged his children in different ways. Like, him not being around definitely took a toll on the twins.

Freya seems parentified and her maturity probably made her the favorite without him realizing it’s because he’s not there emotionally or physically. Meanwhile, Freyr definitely seems to take after his father and was probably viewed as immature next to Freya. “Why can’t you be more like your sister” was probably thrown around or “Well, Freya can do this…” I wonder if going to Asgard was him trying to prove himself to his father.
