what genres of music does niko like the most and what kind of music does their band play 👀 im also curious abt his bandmates even if u don’t have art of some of them, if u have like any ideas for them :D

HI apologies that this took a while I've been having A Day but I always love 2 talk abt Niko...

I think Niko listens to a lot of different stuff but their band mostly plays alt rock, occasionally branching out into pop punk and similar genres. His band mates are as follows :]

- Violet (she/they), lead guitarist and backing vocals, Somali/Abyssinian cat. She was probably the lead vocals before they met Niko! Very loud and brash but genuine :]

- Tommy-Lee (he/him), 2nd guitarist, Somail/Abyssinian, Violet's brother. He's abrasive and sarcastic but cares about his sister more than anything, to the point of being overbearing if he thinks it's for her own good...

- Sasha (she/her), bassist, sphinx. Dresses in all leather. No-nonsense and outwardly cold but easily flustered and quick to offer support to her friends if they need it <3

- Benny (they/them), drummer, Javanese cat. The most inscrutable member. Probably a gamer.

+ Niko's (eventual) bf, Chrysanthos (chrys for short), groupie/manager and american bobtail! Absolutely no musical inclinations whatsoever but happy to help set up equipment for their shows and often is the one that promotes their events.

There's also twins Roe (xe/they) and Rye (they/them) (who I DO have designs for dbfjsh), who are supporting characters! Roe runs a cafe/bar that hosts local musicians a few times every week (Niko's band plays there fairly often) and Rye hosts a radio station that is the first to broadcast Niko's band's music to a wider audience :]

Do you know any famous paintings that depicts ancient Greek mythology?

If you mean by artists of all ethnicities, then there was a period starting from the Renaissance until the late 18th century when artists basically painted a ton of it in the west. There is a vast amount of beautiful and quite famous art inspired by Greek mythology if you google it.

If this is about Greek art (as in, art by Greek artists), it gets interesting. From the 15th until the late 18th century we have the (Modern) Greek Dark Ages. No art prospers except for the one field Greeks had relative freedom at and / or knowledge on: religion (Christian Orthodox art).

The 19th century is an explosive era for Greeks: we have the Greek Revolution, the Independence, the foundation of the Modern Greek state on western values, the strengthening of the bonds with Europe and, you know, education. All these were such a rich source of inspiration that the Greek artists that excelled at that period did not bother with Greek mythology.

In the 20th century, it was too late because the Greek mythology artistic trend in Europe was dying. Besides, the 20th century was once again such a paramount era for world history and for social changes that there was so much more timely inspiration than whatever Greek mythology could provide. The Greek artists of the last century focused on social themes, on studies on their contemporary urban and provincial lifestyle and other similar topics.

Nowadays, I see young artists actually being inspired by Greek mythology but I can't speak of "famous art" as it's too early and also, as you perhaps see too, we have started consuming art like products, leading creators to relative anonymity and obscurity.

There is however a famous painter who has encorporated Greek mythological themes in his artwork; Nikos Engonopoulos (1907 - 1985), a major representative of the surrealist movement.

Oedipus and the Sphinx.

Hermes, Orpheus and Eurydice.

Theseus & the Minotaur. I couldn't find this in better resolution but I love it because he painted Theseus in the traditional modern attire.

Anyway, he has a vast amount of work with his very distinct style. And he used a lot of Ancient Greek historical and mythological themes throughout. If you are into surrealism, definitely check him out. Personally, I love him.

(In case I am forgetting someone very important though, please comment, as I too would be interested to see more Greek artists being inspired by Ancient Greek culture, history and mythology.)

Do I need to explain why this is such a big problem? Dozens of flying Grimm when a single dozen with only one Sphinx caused a hell of a lot of trouble for the heroes, plus we now have this big lizard boi. And with everyone but Ren and Qrow without any of their aura, there’s very little our heroes can do now. It’s gonna take a miracle to win this fight without MAJOR casualties. And with several families we care very much about confirmed to be living here, we especially don’t want there to be many casualties. So yeah, pretty crappy odds.

Also, yes. I know I called them chimeras when they are actually manticores. I didn’t think to look up the name. I’m sorry.

Day 13 is for Kaz and Ryuu!!! My favorite sphinx-manticore + oni couple~ They’ve been together for a little over 15 years, and married for 10 years! Neither really expected to end up where they are, but both feel they couldn’t be happier with how things worked out. Kaz in particular feels very blessed to have met Ryuu. <3

Calico

After the death of his uncle, Niko, Felix Sphinx finds himself with an empty storefront in the heart of Paris. With nothing but a deed, some clothes to start, and a small floating kitten to keep him together- he ends up caught up right in the middle of Paris' wildest and weirdest events… all of which involve a strange lady in spots who seems to have it out for him specifically.

Ugh, I’m so bad at remembering Fanwalker Friday. So I decided to do a masterpost of the Fanwalkers I’ve come up with that have varying degrees of head-canon. So here it goes.

Ayden (Bant)- Male human priest from Innistrad, best friend of @thetabbybadger Rhynn. Had been living on Ravnica though moved to Theros after WotS and meeting Patroclus. Specializes in protective magic and enchantments.

Patroclus (Naya)- Setessan male from Theros. Ayden’s boyfriend and animal enthusiast. He’s able to bond with animals, knows some minor healing, and is able to channel some magic reminiscent of the Theran Gods he’s aligned with.

Sylene (Selesnya)- Dryad of the Selesnya Conclave and Ayden’s mentor when he was on Ravnica. She’s friends with @thetabbybadger Breeze. Uses plant based magic and summoning, anthem magic, and healing.

Tyran (Boros)- Human male from my fan plane Auraan. There are 5 archons referred to as Exemplars on Auraan that are revered by the inhabitants of the plane. Tyran has archon blood in him from an interaction his great grandmother had with one of the archons. His family gained light magic for a generation but after that they weren’t able to use it. Tyran’s spark is igniting the archon blood in him, allowing him to use light magic. 

Nikos (Rakdos):- Human male from Ravnica. Nikos is Gateless. He lost his parents at a young age to an Orzhov oligarch who decided that his parents would better serve their debt in death. He’s a rogue and grifter with a silver tongue and good with Act of Treason type magic. Tyran’s boyfriend.

Rhajan (Azorius): Vedalkin male engineer/mechanic from Kaladesh. Rhajan is autistic and a savant with artifice, specifically vehicles. He isn’t much of a combatant but he’s an ace at restoring artifacts.

Veris (Orzhov): Male vampire from Zendikar. Pretty much the meme Harmacist. He’s adept at manipulating life force which is what makes him such a potent healer. 

Carine (Jund): Female human from Innistrad. She’s a witch, adept with curses. She’s very anti-Avacynian church, believing that they were harming the humans of Innistrad more than helping while Avacyn was locked in the Hellvault. She turned to nature and dark magic to protect herself and her brother after a werewolf attack on their village killed her their parents.

Nadira (Esper): Female sphinx also from my fan plane Auraan. She’s a couple centuries old (though she didn’t spark until 50 or so years before the Mending) and has taken over the academy that formed around the Archon of Knowledge, trying to usurp him in his absence. She’s a master of mind magic, capable with scrying and other magic gleaning magics, as well as damage prevention and other protections spells. She also knows a little hieromancy.

Jonat (Jeskai): Male efreet from Tarkir. Jonat is a Jeskai monk from the old timeline. His spark ignited when he was able to master himself and learn how to use Bloodfire. He’s is exceptionally displeased with Sarkhan’s actions in changing the timeline. He’s saddened to see his people only focus on their destructive nature due to their alliance with Atarka.

Batbayar (Temur): Female human of the Temur clan during Fate Reforged. She’s an oldwalker, sparking when she tried to take out Atarka by herself. She has an innate connection to the land and elementals, summoning them to aid her in battle. She also uses wind and ice magic.

Saratoga se suma al cartel del festival Leyendas del Rock 2020 que poco a poco va tomando color. Estos son los detalles.

La XV edición del festival Leyendas del Rock sigue gota a gota rellenando su cartel para este 2020. Hoy llega el turno para SARATOGA.

SARATOGA son un cañón. Saratoga son unas bestias del escenario. Y Leyendas del Rock está orgulloso de contar con su presencia una vez más. Si ya en 2019 arrasaron como primera banda de la tarde, imaginemos lo que pueden hacer el año que viene en horario nocturno. Niko, Jero, Tete y Dani nos lo van a explicar a base de excelente heavy metal facturado en castellano.
