not me losing my fucking marbles over the fact that Kenjaku probably hasnt anticipated Maki and now she’s a very capable and dangerous outlier, like okay where have we herad that before? who else was a complete surprise in Kenjaku’s machinations? who came from nothing and broke through their chains to disrupt everything around them – unintentionally or not?
Maki is the same force of nature like Toji; outliers abandoned to fate they didn’t choose – only difference is Maki decided to break free completely and start taking everything apart by starting with the source of her supposed fate; the Zenin Clan. unlike Toji, she’s fueled by pure determination imparted onto her by the death of her sister – the only reason why she even wanted to rise through the ranks and take over the Zenins. she has no sister to be strong for, so what is left? instead of falling into a dark pit of self-loathing like Toji, she uses her strength to dismantle everything that served as tool to hurt her and Mai – she will throw a wrench into Kenjaku’s plans by pretty much reducing the old ways of the jujutsu society to ash, creating outcomes he hasnt predicted/planned for yet. Maki’s on a rampage that will create anomalies.
Maki will destroy everything.

Gojo figuring out how arranged marriage works.
Tumblr media
CW/TW: Fem! reader, Arranged Marriage, Heavy suggestive stuff, Mentions of virginity, Condoms?, Gojo typical flirting, Reader & Gojo ages implied to be very young (18-23), SFW (Lmk if I should add anything else!)
Characters: Gojo x Reader
AN: Pt 2 of this fic. I will die on this bitchless Gojo hill.
Tumblr media
"You look as beautiful as the day I married you hon'." He says with his characteristic wide smile, proud of himself for that line. Even threw in a sweet pet-name, the kind girls like.
"You married me, like, two weeks ago." He should not be proud of himself for that line.
The silence is almost deafening after that, and Gojo hates the quiet. Can't stand it. He's not used to it, he's loud and obnoxious, he's self-aware of that though, part of his charm he says. Charm, he's got an endless bountiful of it, in his ego-ridden mind at least, and honestly, he's not wrong. There's absolutely nothing Gojo lacks.
Killing curses as though it's walking through a park, handing out checks like he's got an unlimited supply of them. A living breathing powerhouse, a god even, some could say. He's young, a very young man, but he's already hailed by Jujutsu society and about anyone with a semblance of knowledge of who he was, The Strongest.
Fresh into adulthood and he's already considered one, if not the most notorious man in Jujutsu society, the potency he holds is incomparable to any other. Handsome too. Fluffy pearl white hair, legs for days, a nice build, toned, keeps it all maintained effortlessly, genetics or the such he thanks for it. A flirt in nature, girls fawned over him, how could they not? An attractive dashing young man such as himself of course they do.
Never been with one before though. A woman.
He didn't date in his teens, school was grueling, he was the strongest and he was busy, always. He could get a girl all buttered up on words sure, he has one hell of a mouth on him... Couldn't actually ask one out though, or kiss one, or get laid by one. His experience with them is non-existent. Truthfully, Gojo is as virgin as a virgin could be, he seems like he lacks in nothing, but relationships? He's clueless.
Yet here he is, married. Weaved into a union with a woman. The papers signed, wedding ceremonies done, vows out and said. Sealed his whole self to another, to you. And as are you, sewn into this 'relationship' same as he is to each other. Orchestrated by the hands of Clan elders, arranged before either of you had met each other.
Fourteen nights of sharing the same bed since, living together as spouses. It's odd, confusing, Gojo who bathes himself in self-assured composure twenty-four-seven, hasn't the faintest idea how this works. But, he is Satoru Gojo, he's hot shit, and you haven't had any complaints yet. Even if you're only two weeks into marriage, he's got this.
Just like he's got everything else in his life, he's sure of himself. The two of you have slowly, but surely gotten more comfortable with each other. Gojo does well, friendly and welcoming by nature, albeit it can come off as cockiness, he brings energy into every dinner you two share so it doesn't feel jarring and off-putting eating with basically a stranger who you'd call your spouse.
The times you touch, comes off as natural. A smooth one he is, Gojo, craftically slipping his hand by your ear to tuck a strand hair, nudging you awake in the morning effortlessly so you don't get startled. The touch of your knees when you sit beside each other. It feels natural, he makes it feel natural.
To you.
But Gojo? His brain is working in overdrive, has been since the day he took you home from the wedding. He didn't realize it at first, still full of himself in ever-lasting confidence, but as quickly as the first two weeks of being newlyweds went by, so did the semblance of stability he held in his ego. Neither of you had even shared a kiss yet. That should've happened by now, right?
Fuck.
Wait, should you two have fucked by now? Lord knows he's thought about it, a lot, he's a young man stocked full of endless libido. And you are his wife, and you're pretty. Every feather-light touch he's managed to sneak in effortlessly you seemed at ease in, but he's been mentally reeling if it's too far. Too inappropriate, but then again you are his wife.
He's your husband, you two are literally married, living together, sleeping together. Sleeping together only, of course, sex feels like something in the distant future. He'd hate to pressure you, especially since you two are just starting out, technically already locked in, till death do us part, but truly just at the start of companionship with each other.
But Gojo, is impatient and a bit aloof. He's not gonna push for anything, but when he saw the condoms at the store and thought 'Hey I have a girl now!' what else was he supposed to do? Immaturity at its finest considering how he's now sat with you, and the condoms stuffed into his back pocket while you two sit on the bed and you'd just shot down his sad attempt at flirting. With his own wife.
"...Is there something you wanna tell me?" Your eyes are glued to your phone as you ask, but he notices they flicker onto him. He's staring, isn't he? You've gotten used to it, his eyes just have a mind of their own, he can't help it he always looks like he's glaring even when he's not, and after a week spent with you sharing a home with him, he can't help himself but look at you. You're beautiful. And you're his.
"Maybe." He'll settle for being a smug little shit instead, still staring at you as he speaks.
"Maybe?" You repeat, putting down your phone in interest as he clearly tries to lure you to talk.
He hums, shrugging innocently and crawling to your side of the bed, used to be his but the night of your wedding you unknowingly took that side and he's been letting you rest on it since. Seamlessly, he pulls his face to yours in a swift but not sudden motion, his nose almost budding with yours.
There's a shared glance, a look into his eyes as he looks into yours, and the density of the air in the bedroom suddenly shoots up straight to 100. Ticklish bouts of his breath fanning lightly against your cheek while he smiles at you, expression, as always, never faltering. But movements telling. He takes your chin by his narrow fingers. You hadn't even seen them move to grasp your face, too transfixed on the look in his palpitating eyes instead.
"Can I kiss you?" There's a second, a moment for you to think, drawn out by the way his voice glides through your ears as he asks. Two weeks together, vowed to one another and you've found yourself caught in his gaze alone. You're starting to feel it, the drum of your heart responding to him.
And so, you nod, his grasp on your chin so gentle you don't even notice it's there holding your face near his as you do. It happens quickly, but it feels like an eternity, a good kind, a soft sort of mere milliseconds between the nod of approval and him moving forward catching your lips against his. His lips are soft, lulling against you and though brief has you leaning into him for more, slouching into him like you're calling for him to caress, to feel more of him in the moment, and he does that, his hands moving to wrap around your waist, pulling you into him.
Once it's done and you two, in natural timing, pull away with a slight wet plop noise breaking the silence you can see it in his eyes. Desire, need, and maybe, just maybe, love. It's small but it's there.
He meant it when he said he liked you, then on that first night, purely by expectation, you're his wife. Of course, he likes you, you're supposed to like him, he's your husband. But two weeks in and he's understanding it more, what it means to like someone, to have them as yours. To have you as his. His dazed expression from a kiss alone tells you that, this is real. He's married and he just kissed a girl, the girl he's promised his life to.
"..Gojo-"  You murmur as he reels from the kiss and gathers himself, a goofy grin plastered on his hazed expression.
"Mhm~" He purrs at you, starting to get giddy.
"Are those condoms?" He blinks at your question, stare breaking from your eyes and your lips he'd left wet with his saliva he'd been caught up looking into, to where your eyes had turned to look. He follows your eyes and looks to see the box out of his pocket, crumpled slightly from him sitting on it, spilled open over the bed.
The rubbers are all over the bed.
His hands don't pull off the sides of your waist, and his smile doesn't falter. Instead, his smirk grows, and he turns back to look at you in the eyes again. Giddy expression is written all over his face, his fingers pulling you closer with ease, because you lean into it and situate yourself closer as he does so, responding to him.
"Yup!" Gojo Satoru has no room for shame. Much less with the pretty woman he has as a wife. Marriage, the foundation of family, what makes a house a home, as his elders told him, he's getting it now. Having you here only two weeks it's already starting to feel properly shared with you, his house, your home, both of yours home.

☆ he loves me, he loves me not [part two]
gojo satoru x male reader [he / him]
sypnosis: you love gojo as more than a friend, but he loves geto - not you, and its almost as if he rubs it in your face all the time. (meant to be viewed as unrequited love.)
the lowercase is intentional !
- minor jujutsu kaisen spoilers under the cut !
[part one]
Tumblr media
a few days later, you saw gojo and geto. they were together, as always. but today was different. something about how they were together was different.
then, gojo spots you and waves at you, gesturing for you to come over. reluctantly, you walk over to him, dragging your feet across the floor of the school. "[name]! it's good to see you." gojo smiled and geto nodded along with him.
"i just wanted to say.. thanks for your advice!" gojo blushed, slightly embarrassed by what he was saying. "me and suguru.. are an item now. we're boyfriends!" gojo looked at geto, an even wider, brighter smile on his face. gojo's smile could light up a whole room, you thought.
your heart shattered into a million pieces, but you had to hide the hurt you were feeling. you had to be happy for gojo, even if that meant he wasn't happy with you, but with geto. "oh.. congrats you two." you hum, nodding at the two of them. you bite your lip back to try and stop the tears from flowing.
for the first time, you felt jealous. that was the other emotion you felt whenever gojo talked about geto. jealousy. you wished you were geto so bad. you wanted to be in his place. you wanted to be gojo's boyfriend. but you wanted gojo to be happy.. even if that meant he wasn't with you.
"i'll be going, i just.. realised one of my friends wanted to hang out with me." you smile awkwardly before rushing off. you had no other friends, it was only gojo for you. you never needed anybody else.
neither gojo or geto could say anything before you rushed off. the two of them walked off too, doing whatever gay, teenage couples would do. the fact that they acted so couple-y, even if they didn't really, made you sick to the stomach. it filled you with jealousy. it filled you with the thought of what could've been. sometimes you feel like both of them knew you liked gojo and they were showing off in spite. in reality, that was your mind altering things.
you weren't angry at geto though, you couldn't be. it was so obvious gojo liked geto from the start. you were just so blinded by your own feelings to realise their secret romance. all the signs were there, but you were so naive. so caught up in your own world thinking gojo will like you back.
and then, a year later, the worst thing could've happened. geto went out of his way and massacred a village of non sorcerers.
gojo was devistated. the one he loved, the one who was his best friend, his one and only, had went ahead and betrayed the jujutsu society. gojo couldn't understand why. he thought everything was okay, he tried to make sure everything was okay with geto. but it seemed like him trying wasn't enough. nobody could change geto's mind now, not even gojo.
gojo was devistated. why hadn't geto talked to him about it? why didn't they figure a way to resolve this? why did geto do such a thing? the questions stuck in gojo's mind, they flooded and swarmed his thoughts, never leaving.
and of course, one thing led to another and the two of them broke up. it was no longer a soppy, teen romance movie. it was the harsh reality of living as a jujutsu sorcerer. gojo couldn't change reality, no matter how strong he was. he was stuck, alone, without his one and only, living in a bleak and empty world.
you wanted to help gojo, but you couldn't. you didn't want to meddle with his affairs when your own feelings would come into play. your feelings would get the better of you, you thought, which was probably the truth too. you'd rather watch gojo heal himself, or not, from the sidelines rather than stick yourself into his business and make your relationship with him worse than it already was.
you always knew gojo wouldn't like you. you weren't geto. you weren't the one who was always by his side whenever he needed someone for comfort. you weren't the one who made him laugh, or smile, or feel loved. you were just [name]. a friend, or even worse, just an acquaintance to gojo. someone who helped him get with the actual boy he loved, only for that boy to shatter his heart into millions of pieces.
you finally accepted that it was never meant to be between you and gojo. it was geto that was his soulmate, not you. and it was never meant to be you. that's what pained you the most.
yes, you could try fighting for gojo, but you knew he wasn't in the right state of mind for it. his heart was broken, torn in two over and over again until there were no pieces left. it would be like taking advantage, so you kept quiet. you let gojo be. you let him be the strongest on his own, facing his own feelings.
you finally accepted yourself that he will never love you. you were not geto, and your love with gojo was never meant to be.
☆ author's note: this took me ages to write because i had no idea what to write as a second part.. i only had 1 part in mind so this is for all of the people that asked for a 2nd part to be fair. i hope you guys like it and it doesn't seem rushed.

about geto & yuki's "treating the cause" vs gojo & jujutsu society's "treating the symptoms"
controversial take ig. this is taken from my twitter thread, just putting here in case i have to come back to it.
sometimes i have to force myself not to think too much about Yuki's goal, which then became a foundation of Geto's goal, related to "treating the cause" so there'd still be meaning to Gojo's current goal, even if it's still "treating the symptoms".
i guess im just really?? curious about it?? because if Yuki's goals were never mentioned then i accept everything that was happening in-universe and that you can't help continuing to be a sorcerer. but her goals exist, and there's implication that it's possible - to treat the cause (whether through techniques and pacts etc. later in the series). but no one besides her and Geto (and Kenny) are entertaining that idea. i wonder why? and then i thought about Gojo and also wonder if he actually understands the root of Geto's motives? has he ever thought deeply about it? there's a 11-year gap between the past and present, so i don't think that Yuki never met Gojo again during that time. she did want to meet him, no? and she told Geto her goal, and the reason why she conflicted with the school because of that. but i don't think Gojo ever mentioned about that (Yuki's ideals, if they has an encounter)? idk, i just think that Gojo has enough power and knowledge to also think about "treating the cause". but he's not doing that...
now, obviously there's no end to being a sorcerer, and the risks still exist, and there's no guarantee just "being stronger" keeps you alive. they'd encounter all kinds of curses to exorcise, and by no means they'd become like the unbeatable "Gojo Satoru", who has all the guarantee there is since he's (become) the strongest. so how much more do they have to try in order to survive?
i feel like.. the fact that Gojo's ideal of raising strong comrades is not just about his regret with Geto, it maybe (?) also shows that he thinks the problem lies in strength. which... wasn't Geto's problem essentially. but was that what he picked up on Geto's words during the break up? idk. the strength of a sorcerer helps them deal with curses. but Geto mentioned the time about strength because it's a medium for him to get to the source of the problem. if the cause is treated, then being strong doesn't matter.
i mean i think what makes anime onlys (whose reactions are giving me life because of their objective analysis on this issue) so intrigued is that you're presented with an idea that makes so much sense about the whole system, that none of other characters have mentioned in ss1. up until now, we only see them work in a mostly moral viewpoint of protecting other non-sorcerers. but here we have Yuki and Geto talking in pure practical viewpoint of "why should we keep doing this". then in current timeline children are still throwing themselves into death battles that probably will never cease to exist, because they're "treating the symptoms" - they kill a curse, another curse will spawn, the cycle continues. so is getting stronger the only option for them? it's like that.
i mean, i'm not sure if it's that possible to treat the cause, but... isn't it odd that neither Gojo nor the jujutsu world besides Yuki is seeing that vision? because of low possibility to succeed? because the system is designed so that sorcerers remain important? maybe i'll never find out.

ok finally the long awaited asami kamo loredump 🩸
the child of the kamo clan leader and his legal wife, she's the elder sister of noritoshi by about ten years
she was the only child to come from the marriage and was a massive disappointment to the whole clan especially her mother
not only was she a girl but she also did not inherit the kamo blood manipulation technique
despite this, asami's mother abused her and put her in dangerous situations in an effort to trigger that cursed technique
asami did however have a particularly powerful cursed technique but that was kind of brushed off as disappointing to considering everything
she so desperately wanted approval especially from her mother and father, so badly wanted to be a good daughter and some part of her punished herself for being born the way she was and tried desperately to make up for it by becoming very supportive of her clan no matter what, following them blindly
i go into her cursed technique more over here but basically she's able to break down and reassemble mass by making contact with it
after i wrote that post i decided it would be more neat if she was more of a quick, close range fighter because she could technically "shatter" a human being by making contact with them
she's super weak and doesn't have much stamina/defense though. most of her defense comes from her agility, manipulation of the battleground, and the potency of her attack. she tries to touch the person before they can even get their bearings
this theoretically makes gojo and asami weak to each other's attacks. asami could shatter hollow purple while gojo's infinity could make it so asami could never make contact to shatter him
bullied noritoshi when they were kids :( she adopted her mother's resentment of him and what a wound he would be to her already fragile standing with her family
they become closer as the manga goes on and noritoshi comes to live with her in tokyo when he's kicked out of the clan (asami having left after the shibuya incident)
asami attended kyoto school and was made a special grade sorcerer by her third year because of her mastering of her unique and very powerful technique.
during the goodwill event, asami most often faced off against gojo given she was the only one who could counter his attacks. the pair had quite the rivalry in school, complicated by their relationship.
asami and gojo have a complicated relationship, the pair of them met at the age of 14 when the two clans decided to betrothed them to each other. it took care of their problem with asami who was too valuable to overlook but not exactly what they wanted for an heir and strengthened their ties to the gojo clan.
needless to say neither of them were all that thrilled but asami being the Good Daughter at least tried to go along with it. that lasted about a second before gojo opened his mouth. asami spilled her drink on him and "accidentally" stomped on his foot and the rest is history.
they have a special knack for getting under each other's skin. asami is completely unimpressed by gojo and sees right through him and vice versa. not to mention gojo who basically got whatever he wanted and to DO whatever he wanted wasn't exactly happy about this turn of events.
at the age of eighteen, their clans called the engagement off. the pair of them both felt a little weird about it, seeing as they had spent four years in forced proximity. now left to their own devices, that night they choose to be each other's firsts
the pair have an off and on frenemies with benefits situation for ten years. they both are so familiar to each other it's hard not to fall back into those "bad habits" as asami calls it.
they also butt heads about the elders and the way jujutsu society is run. asami leaning more conservative due to wanting her family's approval and gojo challenges that. in an odd way, gojo still trusts her to make the right decision in the end.
that's why during the shibuya arc, after gojo has been in contact with her for months trying to figure out the strange goings on and what the elders and clans have to do with it, asami makes her first appearance. (she's mentioned occasionally in the goodwill arc and is in the prequel ofc)
after shibuya with the elders pinning everything on gojo, asami feels she owes it to gojo to look after the trio (because nobara is still alive fuck u) and she joins tokyo school as a teacher. she also cuts ties with the kamo clan which is a big deal for her.
she has a fluffy fatass cat named bento.
asami is based in tokyo having wanted to get some space between her and her mother who lives near kyoto along with the rest of the clan. her cutting ties with the clan and doubting them more and more has been a theme for awhile.

toji to me is a very downtrodden character and thats the base of like aaalll my analysis of him. i think its a good idea to keep in mind that they're all living in a Secret Society with like negative morals and seemingly a core principle of might makes right. its not Just a lack of therapists, here, right, its an actively hostile environment. and then you have the zen'in upbringing which kicks that up a notch. i dont think toji is actually all that convinced of his power, bc he grew up being told he was worthless without cursed energy. he Never gets revenge on the zen'ins. why? his trauma response to this (get OUTTTTT) is different than maki's (spite them & eventually overcome them-- for approval ? hm.). shes intimidated by them sure but shes got that rebel spirit! girlboss. anyway back to the point bc i have one -> toji never escaped the zen'ins. he Wants to affirm that he's strong without cursed energy despite all the evidence that he actually is (and look how that final attempt went!). id like to propose a theory: he didnt think he could hide a child with The Zen'in Power Of All Time from the zen'ins. i dont think he could either tbh. ok actually are you caught up on the manga 🤨
Hello again! I really love this view of Toji's character, and it will surprise you to learn that I agree with you. I actually do. When I've been replying to your asks before, I've been talking from the perspective of his parenting decisions. But you're right, to take this any further we need to look at his actual personality/character.
Reasons to be sympathetic to Toji (a.k.a extend him the poor little meow meow factor):
abusive ex-family
no support
no therapy
dead wife
poor
gambling addiction
Toji was abused and was brought up in an environment where he literally meant nothing. He was useless. His reaction to this (get out, cut all ties, get stronger) is a response I'm actually proud of him for. So many people are probably still rolling around inside the Zen'in clan, having never got the balls to get out. Toji even chooses to change his name.
Being a cycle breaker is hard. For many people, it's impossible. For Toji - it was impossible. I extend sympathy and empathy to him here because it's DIFFICULT to let go of your upbringing and do it differently, do better. Toji can't bring him self to leave the jujutsu world. Nanami did it, and could have left forever if he so chose - but Toji can't. He's not a sorcerer but he can't let go of that being part of him, he can't stop his Zeni'in upbringing from shaping him. Neither can Maki, but Maki chooses to actively confront the clan and make physical changes to her life.
Toji just drowns in his spite - again, another thing we can hand him a poor little meow meow card for. He doesn't have the tools to heal or make better decisions. We feel bad for him. We sympathise. We want to still see him as a basically good person (and, to be honest, he probably is) who's just been scarred by the world.
So, to go back to what you said: you're right. He doesn't escape the Zeni'ns and I'm not convinced he wants to. He wants to show them he's better but he also can't bring himself to directly call attention to himself.
So let's bring this full circle and talk about what the original post was about: Toji's parenting. You said you still don't think he's a good parent. You're right, he isn't. He never will be. No Toji stan will ever be able to convince me that any of Toji's parenting choices were the right ones. But let's be sympathetic again, let's see how we can cut him some slack for those terrible decisions.
Does Toji even know how to be a parent?
We don't know a whole lot about Toji's parents. We know he hates them, if he ever truly knew them. We can infer he doesn't want to be like them. We're sure he never actively abuses Megumi, only passively, through abandonment. Perhaps he feels this is better than getting directly involved with a small child. He's described by the wiki as a cold person, specifically since his wife died and he 'reverted to his old self'. It's highly possible that Toji chose to abandon Megumi since he thought it was genuinely the best possible path. Toji can be cold, violent, and calculating, and he maybe felt he was in no position to be doing any parenting. We can sympathise with this!
(But he's still a bad father).
Did Toji sell Megumi to the Zen'ins so the kid could train to be a sorcerer?
It's definitely possible. I think this is what @honestlyyoungtyphoon was trying to tell me. Toji can't help a sorcerer kid, but he knows that Megumi needs training and he knows the Zen'ins would love to give it. And, yeah, maybe he's had this plan ever since he realised Megumi's technique, because he knew the Zen'ins would find out somehow.
Reasons this is still a bad parenting decision: the Zen'ins, while they treat their sorcerers well materially and are much kinder to them than they are to non-sorcerers, are still power hungry little bitches. Everyone knows this. While Toji would have no way to create a better plan, he knew himself it was bad. You ever wonder why Gojo went to see Megumi straight away? Because was Gojo was raised how the Zen'ins would treat Megumi. Gojo was living the life that Megumi would live in the future. And Gojo knew that it wasn't a life fit for anyone.
Toji knows that Gojos knows this. Toji knows Gojo could help Megumi. Toji passed the baton. And honestly, this is probably a reveal of part of Toji's true personality. He willingly sent a guy, his own personal enemy, to Megumi because he knew it was good for Megumi. Toji has a lot of pride and it must have taken a lot to ask that. THIS is probably what the aggressive Toji stans mean when they tell me Toji was a good parent.
So, overall: Toji is a damaged person who never received any kind of help and support from anyone except his (now dead) wife. There are many factors that help shape his decisions and parenting choices. Toji is probably a basically good person who is simply hurt by his circumstances, and even his truly awful decisions such as abandoning Megumi could have their roots in a belief that it was truly for the best. However: a good person does not make a good parent.
Toji was a shit dad and we love him <3

*Dark Red* (ignore this, it's an OCxGeto Suguru oneshot I made for my bestie)
"Suguru... Come meet her" Ace smiled sweetly, in her arms was a small bundle of a blonde baby. It seems somehow Aces past family genes sunk into the blood line now.
Geto meanwhile, quietly made his way closer to his wife with a tender smile that reached his eyes. He couldn't believe it, just yesterday the two were only in the midst of a small crush neither of them really knew about. It started with lingering touches, laughing particularly hard at each other's jokes, Geto waiting for her to catch up when she trailed behind to tie her shoe when the group would leave her behind.
Those days, turned into months until the day Geto finally asked her to be his one and only. Then those lingering touches turned into hand holding and kisses and eventually something more that led to the small bundle in her arms, the laughs only grew harder, and he always waited for her no matter the circumstances. People would snicker behind their backs, about how high school love always turned sour, but they were so much different. The two were made for each other, two halves of a whole crafted perfectly for one another by what some believed in called god. The two, were like birds in a painting that would be together in this life and every life that came after that. So helplessly devoted to one another.
At one point, When Suguru was in his deepest depression Ace was the one to bring him out of the dark. He was showering, considering that everything he once believed in was untrue and that he himself needed to reform society. He remembered it as though it was yesterday.
---
Suguru gasped softly in pain, his eyes fixated on the tiled wall of his shower. Was he truly not meant for more in this life? Was he reduced to nothing but a curse consumer for the rest of his life? Was that all he was in Jujutsu society? He went from being one of the strongest with Gojo, to only Gojo being the strongest. He was nothing but a dull simple rock, compared to the radiance of his closest friend. He could only idly stand by and watch, as a girl he and Gojo befriended and nearly saved, was shot square in the skull by none other than Toji. He was worthles- *"Suguru. I know you're showering but this is... important"* Aces voice suddenly resounded through the cracked door of the bathroom. Sugurus thoughts halted immediately, worry plaguing his thoughts for a completely different reason. She sounded...scared, like she had been crying. So he did as any good boyfriend would and immediately stepped out of the shower and wrapping a towel around his waist. Typically he wouldn't care for modesty around her as she always found him terribly attractive every time she laid her eyes upon his bare body, but this conversation sounded terribly important. *"Come in Ace, talk to me. Are you okay?"* Suguru quizzed as Ace walked in.
Her hands were quivering, tears streaming down her face. In her mind, this may mark the end of them. He would leave her, because they were still so young, so naïve. Nobody could love the mother, of a child they never wanted... Ace opened her mouth to speak but she couldn't find the words. They were on the tip of her tongue but they stuck there. She couldn't let them out. So instead she simply fell to her knees in the bathroom as sobs wrecked through her body. Her shoulders shook violently, as her painful sobs were all Suguru could hear. So in a flash, Suguru was kneeling in front of her, thankful his towel was wrapped so tightly. His hands found her trembling ones, as he brought them towards his body.
*"Ace did something happen?"* His voice was so soft, so scared for her and that only made her sob harder. If he left her, she didn't know what she'd do. He was everything to her, more important than the sun was to the earth. *"Suguru I'm... pregnant"* she finally uttered weakly. Suguru nearly didn't catch her words, the echo of the bathroom was the only thing that helped those three words reach his gauged ears.
Ace however, only sobbed more violently at his silence.
She was scared, so terrified...that was until he embraced her so tightly she swore she'd no longer be pregnant after the hug. Before she could speak, Suguru pulled her face into a passionate kiss, one that melted every thought she previously had away. *"I fucking love you, so much. And...this news...this baby, of ours. Will never go a single day without knowing just how much I love them and you. They'll never grow up in a home without seeing love. Ill love you both so much, they'll never know anything but happiness. Thank you, Ace"* Suguru smiled, his own tears falling onto the damp cold floor below the two. Several lives were saved in that moment.
Suguru was saved, from his ever darkening thoughts. Ace was saved from the agony of losing the only man she'd ever love and their precious baby, they were saved from growing up without a doting father and with a depressed mother. Soon enough, Suguru got dressed and immediately dragged Ace to the room, where he would show her nothing but worship for the best gift he'd received in his entire life. And merely weeks after that, he'd proposed to her.
----
Suguru found the familiar warm tears seeping from his eyes, as he stared at the small baby in his arms. She was so small, so fragile and innocent. She was his everything, he would devote his every waking moment to making both of his lovely girls know just how deeply devoted he was to them. "I'm thinking...Ayano... It means Hope. She's our little hope so I think it'll fit her perfectly, how about you Ace?" Geto smiled, as his tears disturbed the baby's peaceful sleep and she stirred slightly from his arms. Ace smiled weakly, her heart aching from just how much love she needed to contain in the small muscle, "it's perfect, Suguru...Ayano, our Ayano." Ace smiled sweetly.
---
Unfortunately, things couldn't remain as they once were. Suguru was killed, in an attack against the school. One he fought so valiantly against, he gave his dying breath to protect *his* girls. His precious wills to live. Ace was beside him during that dying breath, Ayano resting soundly at home in the arms of the twins they'd adopted a few years ago now. She was still so young, to lose her loving and devoted father to a cruel twist of fate. So here Ace sat, agonized screams going unheard in the cold winter weather as her aching hands desperately clutched at the robes of Sugurus. The blood that soiled her hands, now dripped into the beautiful painted white landscape. It was Christmas the following day, and the very first one where neither of them would have the man most importantly to them. Ace sat there for hours, until Gojo found them. He was hardly able to pry her bloodied body from him. She screamed, pleaded for him to stop, she fought against him so weakly as she couldn't find any strength left in her anymore but he eventually managed to do it.
----
Years now, had gone by. So many long years, without Geto Suguru, a loving father and devoted husband. The house had never been colder and emptied. Ayano didn't grow up not knowing love, Ace made sure to only give her all the love that Suguru now couldn't to make up for it. She grew up so terribly loved, everyday she would hear about her father. The man who died, to protect them. The man who cried when she was born, because he loved her so much. And in return, to respect her father, she herself had become a Jujutsu sorcerer. She'd inherited his curse technique, they would've been the only two in the world to have such a unique ability, but now it was only her. Her mother, became a teacher. Someone, to teach all of her young students how to defend themselves in any and every situation, so that one day their kids wouldn't go without their father or mothers. So no young child or wife would experience that kind of pain ever again. Things were looking bright again at last for the Geto family.
----
*Shibuya, Japan*
That was, until things weren't. It was supposed to be a simple mission. It was supposed to be over as soon as it started. Everything was supposed to be okay. *supposed to be*.
That was, Until **he** showed up.
----
"Su...gu...ru?" Ace choked out, through wide eyes at the all too familiar black haired man in front of her. Her pupils shaking in shock and horror. Ayano stood further away, unable to move. She was young when he'd died, but she remembered his face as clear as day and the connection in her heart she felt hit her all at once. That was her father. The man they'd lost on that cold winter day. Because of him, neither of them could even walk on the same street as that alleyway. "Oh my love...my Ace, my Ayano..." Geto cooed softly, his own tears falling softly to the ground below. If Ace wasn't so struck, by the hope that the gods returned her husband, *her Suguru* back to her she would've noticed. She would've seen the stitches and thought something was amiss. She would've been on guard. She would've caught the way his hands were restraining himself back. Before, Young Ayano could call her mother, it all happened so fast. In the blink of an eye. Ayano's hand absently reached out towards her mother subconsciously, but it was too late.
Ace had already embraced the man, she'd seen dead so many years ago into a tight warm hug. He still smells the same as she remembered. He still smelled just like the pillows they shared that the scent long faded from. The smell she wanted nothing more to remember. And then she felt it. A burning stinging pain through her chest.
Ace's eyes widened ever so slightly, her hand reaching up to grab ahold of Geto's hands, that plunged a sword straight through her body with a sickening crack. A warmth flooded her, as she stumbled back with blown wide eyes that fixated on the face of the man she loved. But before her stood not the man she loved, it was him in physique but his sadistic grin and wild eyes told her that this wasn't her Suguru. This imposter, wore his skin, stole his scent and mannerisms....but he was not him. "Suguru...?" Her voice croaked hoarsely, so very weakly so...brokenly. Then with one quick move, he yanked the sword out of her body. Ayano was frozen in time, she couldn't move, she couldn't scream, she couldn't breathe. Everything was moving too fast for her brain to process, "*M-MAMA!!*" the young girl shrieked in terror.
Ace stood there a moment, the warm sticky blood pooling from between her fingers where she grasped at the wound in her chest. She couldn't breathe, her lungs were filling with that warm crimson liquid. She was drowning from the inside.
There was so much blood spilling onto the ground below, yet so much of it was occupying the empty cavity of her lungs. So all she could do, was tearfully stare into the eyes of the man she would cuddle with. The man who stood before her at the alter. The man she would've given anything for to come back to her, to occupy the empty cold space of their shared bed. Kenjaku however could only merely chuckle darkly, despite the lack of breath he could take in. Warm salty tears streamed down his face like a rushing river, his own hands working so valiantly against him as they grasped harshly at his own throat, his nails drawing blood from how hard they were digging into his throat. "You're....not Suguru..." Ace could only utter shakily before the blood dripped down the corners of her mouth as she began to gasp desperately for air. Kenjaku however, regained control and brought out a new weapon he wanted to test. He needed to tie up these loose ends faster than he initially wanted to otherwise his body wouldnt allow it. So his hand lifted the heavy weapon before promptly slamming it into the side of the woman's skull with a sharp crack. Pieces of her skull hitting the ground with soft little cracking noises and then her body crumpled to the ground faster than the speed of light. Blood pooled around her body, as death laid claim to its latest victim. *And all the young girl could do, was weakly watch as her mother's brains spill out from the crevice that was created.*

TOJI AND MAKI
The parallels between the two outcasts of the zenin clan have already been pointed out plenty of times in canon, for example they're both incredibly buff. However, I thought I would take a deeer look at both characters, as they share both a role as the abused child that destroys the system that created them, and the same fatal flaw.
1. The Child Who is Not Embraced by the Village Will Burn it Down to Feel its Warmth
"The Ones who Walk Away from Omelas" is a 1973 work of short philosophical fiction, about a summer festival in the utopian ity of OMelas, whose prosperity depends on the perpetual misery of a single child. The idea is written around the idea of the scapegoat, a reoccurring trope in stories where someone innocent is blamed, or outcast for the mistakes of other characters.
All of this to say that both Maki and Toji represent the archetype of the scapegoats of their generation. Just like the child of Omelas, all of the problems in the Zenin household are blamed on one child.
Tumblr media
This is something Ogi does to Maki directly, and also Naoya recognizes that the other members of the clan did to Toji. They were unable to face their own inferiority, so they blamed it on a scapegoat. Ogi blames his failure to become the head of the clan on his children. The entire clan is unable to recognize Toji's strength, because it would make them question their traditionally held notions of strength, Toji requires the use of weapons and can fight without cursed techniques, which means the cursed techniques they were born with don't make them inherently better with other people.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is also related to Gojo's criticisms of Jujutsu Society at large, of which the Zenin Household is a very toxic microcosm of. Gojo's critique is that the previous generation will sacrifice the lives of the younger generation, to maintain their power, and in the name of pointless tradition. In the Zenin family "tradition" is the idea that inherited curse technique determines a person's worth.
Their entire system is built around one, keeping cursed techniques in the clan, and two, passing down inherited curse techniques from father to child. Which would go farther to explain the treatment of women by the clan, but we're not getting into that this time. Basically, the "peace" and the "superiority" of the household are built on the idea of marking and scapegoating an outsider, that is anyone who doesn't fit in with the clan's traditions. "If you are not of the Zenin Clan you are not a sorcerer, and if you are not a sorcerer then you are not even Human". That quote alone should explain how Maki and Toji were both treated as subhuman 'monkeys' by everyone around them.
Tumblr media
However, the story shows us by both Toji and Maki snapping how terrible these abusive power structures are. One person cannot handle all of that alone, so they snap. Of course they snap. It's not a sign of who Toji and Maki are as people, but rather how no one deserves to be treated that way. A major reocurring theme in Jujutsu Kaisen is no one person alone, can take responsibility for everything, not even Gojo who is the strongest can save everyone he wants to save or be responsible for all of society he needs allies too. Toji, and Maki without allies, they snap and lash out against the same abusive power structure that created them. They are so thoroughly othered by everyone around them, that they embrace their own inhumanity, Maki becomes a weapon bent on killing her family even murdering her own mother, and Toji outright calls himself a monkey.
Tumblr media
This is also why Toji is referred to as the "destroyer of destinies" there are two reasons for this. One, Gege is making a thematic point here. The abusive system built on othering and excluding children among other things doesn't actually provide the stability it promises. The center does not hold. The abuse of the system perpetuates and only leads to more destruction. Toji's outcasting isn't something that just hurt Toji alone, everyone felt the consequences of it because the abusive system proliferates and only causes further destruction. The second reason is a Jungian idea on which the story is based on. Toji himself is much like a curse created by the actions of his entire family. If Mahito is created from the fear humans have for each other and acts as the shadow of humanity representing their dark side, Toji metaphorically represents the combined shadow and dark side of the zenin clan. In Watch Man, Rorsarch monologues about how the accumulated filth of all of the abuses that happen in the city will one day rise up and affect everyone.
"This city is afraid of me, I have seen it's true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will form up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout save us and I'll look down and whisper no."
This is expressing the same Jungian idea, a society that ignores these problems will only cause the muck to rise up further and further until it affects everyone. The Zenin clan was a microcosm for the abuses of Jujutsu Society as a whole, they weren't the only ones affected by their abuse because abuse perpetuates. They endured it until they snapped and then acted out that abuse. The Jungian idea put forth is that this sort of reckoning was always going to happen, as long as the Zenin clan continues to create these outcasts in order to hold themselves up as superior, another Toji will happen.
2. Love is the Worst Curse of Them All
Toji and Maki also share the same flaw as people. Their abuse revolved around the idea of outcasting them from the rest of the family, othering them, continually putting them down and also most likely not even doing the job of raising them as children or providing them with the help they needed. We don't see much of it, but in the databook apparently Toji regularly had cursed spirits sicked on him to mock him, and Maki was locked in the cursed spirit room as punishment.
This taught them not only do they need to be strong on their own, but also in order to prove themselves they both thought they needed to be stronger than anyone else in the clan. Toji left Jujutsu Society as a whole, whereas Maki just left the house, both of them with the motivation of proving themselves stronger than the people who looked down on them.
This strong sense of individualism is their greatest strength, and also their weakness, as the situation is more complicated than being stronger than a bully. Maki and Toji are made to feel alone because of their abuse, however, neither Maki nor Toji suffer their abuse alone.
Mai was abused right alongside Maki, they were both outcasts due to being twins. There's no point in arguing which one of them had it worse, because Ogi was perfectly willing to kill both daughters right alongside each other. Maki does and doesn't remember that Mai is right alongside her in her abuse, it's... a bit complicated.
Tumblr media
I mention this because Makiaated reason why is that she would have hated herself if she stayed inside that household with Maki. She put pursuit of becoming a stronger sorcerer above her relationship with her sister.
Maki later states "I can't create a place where Mai would feel like she belongs". I don't believe that was always her intention from the start that she secretly left the household for Mai's sake, and wanted to get stronger to create a place where Mai belongs, because Maki's always been really clear she was doing it for her own sake. I think rather after the loss she suffered in Shibuya, and also the fight she had with her sister in the school met, that she came to change her mind and realized she wasn't just in this alone. She changed her mind, that she wanted to be together with Mai, but she didn't change it in time and tragedy struck.
I mention this because Maki and Toji both share the same tragic flaw. Both of them have no idea how to be close even to the people they love, so they end up pushing away the ones they love the most. Maki continually shows behavior of pushing away Mai, and in Toji's case he does everything he can to try to show himself he doesn't love his son.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maki continually pushes away her sister Mai. Mai reacts to getting pushed away in a not-so-healthy way. Toji full on deadbeats his son. He doesn't raise him or participate in his life to the point where Megumi can't remember his face or name at all. Toji did everything he could to try to give Megumi to someone else, anyone else other than him and avoided his responsibility as a father.
It doesn't come from malice on Toji and Maki's part, but rather it's a less savory aspect of their abuse. Both Toji and Maki believe themselves to be worthless, and that they can't be accepted or loved. They've internalized the way the clan has treated them. They are so isolated that this comes out in how they treated their closest loved ones, their response is to always push them away and isolate themselves further. Toji narrates this, he chose to throw his son aside because he wanted to affirm himself and prove that he was better than Jujutsu Society. Maki says to Mai that she left the house and left Mai because staying would have meant hating herself.
They are both trying desperately to prove themselves as individually strong, to the point where loving anyone else, or even requiring that love from someone is a weakness. They prove they are strong by avoiding the vulnerability of loving someone else. Toji and Maki both try to separate themselves from their heart in order to become even more physically stronger. For Toji his heart was his son Megumi who he did everything to distance himself, forgetting his name, selling him to the Zenin clan, while at the same time paradoxically believing that he was somehow protecting Megumi and arranging for things that would have been better than Toji just stepping up as a father and taking care of him.
At the same time Maki pushes Mai away when Mai does not want that, and believes that also she can return to the clan and make it a safe place for her sister by being individually stronger than everyone else.
They both approach their loved ones this way, because they were taught that one, they are unworthy of love, and they choose to try to get stronger by throwing away anything that might make them vulnerable.
Tumblr media
TWhich is why Maki breaks so hard, and lashes out at everyone when Mai is gone, because Maki believed that keeping Mai separate from herself and protecting her was her way of showing love.
However, Mai and Megumi are like... people. They're people entirely separate from Maki and Toji and also affected by their actions. Megumi was neglected his entire lives, whereas Mai didn't get to have a relationship with her sister and felt like she was worthless and only holding her sister back. This is the central idea of Toji and Maki's abuse narrative, that abuse is complicated, and abuse proliferates and hurts people you don't even intend for it to hurt. It has consequences. Megumi suffers the consequences of the Zenin family's abuse because it turned Toji into such an unfit and emotionally immature father. Mai was being abused alongside Maki, and even ended up dying from her abuser's hand as her father Ogi beat her half to death and locked her in a room. Now, as a consequence Maki is lashing out at everything around her. That's also why the connection between Toji and Maki is drawn, to show that as long as the abusive institution still stands, it's just going to keep creating more outcasts like Toji and Maki.

Dissecting What-thefuck-Ever is Happening in Jujutsu Kaisen
Am I crazy? Am I going mad? Is this manga making me delusional? All of this are valid hypothesis. However, onto the content, because I'm confused and trying to give shape to whatever my mind is thinking.
The last couple of chapters really put my English comprehension skills to test: not because I don't get it, but all the different details and the shades which Gege uses to describe and entwine things is so subtle that sometimes I am afraid that the translation does not give it justice. And kudos anyways to those who put this into words, because this is one big mess on 'insert weird jujutsu thing'.
This New Arc (The Culling) is probably one of the most difficult, in terms of events and storyline, arcs in the story. Fair enough, Shibuya was pretty complicated, as events were happening at the same time - but in the end, Shibuya lasted about five hours and that was it. The Culling has origins which go back in centuries, and only that makes it interesting, dangerous and maddening to think about.
One thing which I want to mention before anything else, because I know that I will forget otherwise, is the sentence which Tengen repeats twice in Chapter 145.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Per his saying, he cannot read the Human Heart, once in reference to Yuki, and the other in reference to Kenjaku. The weird thing is that this makes it clear that despite everything and the implications, Kenjaku - is still human at the end. He is physical, material and therefore he is not invincible. I am not sure if this was the intent behind this words (to let them know how Kenjaku is as human as them, and therefore it it possible to stop him) - but I still it has some sort of relevance. Also, this makes me question, whether Kenjaku's technique is limited to the brain and its knowledge, and what generally his technique is.
Tengen tells the Six Adventurers that Kenjaku is at least as old as Sukuna, and the two have been involved somehow. His objective is so force human evolution. And in order to do, he wants to boost up Japanese individuals (likely because of the amount of immense cursed energy present) - and to merge Tengen, who is now more cursed spirit than human, with humankind.
Tumblr media
This is because the next stage of sorcery (and humanity, intrinsically), for Kenjaku, lies in optimising cursed energy. But in order to do so, the potential which human retain needs to be exploited fully. Therefore, people have to be aware that there is still potential to be discovered (next stage of human evolution).
Tumblr media
The objective of the Culling Game therefore splits into two currents: cull the potential vessels to fuse with Tengen and spread cursed energy like wildfire (with the end goal being a new golden era, Heian Era) by applying the natural law of the survival of the fittest (searching for the one who could completely fuse with Tengen) and making Japan the cull of all cursed energy - which would potentially attract other cursed energy, from other countries (even if as we know it is extremely lower compared to Japan) and as Yuki potentially already guessed in Chapter 136 to make Japan a monopoly on cursed energy.
Tumblr media
Another things which gets mentioned, but at the same time I am not entirely sure has anything to do with the things I am thinking of (and specifically Sukuna's fingers and the remains of the clan ancestors - if this is even a thing), however boundaries and restrictions (f.e. Heavenly Restriction that both Toji and Maki have) are a very big thing in Jujutsu Society and Sorcery. A blatant example is the pact that Sukuna made with Yuuji (and that neither can break). However, according to Tengen the bond of fate between The Six Eyes, Tengen and the Star Plasma Vessel has been broken thanks to Toji Fushiguro, who killed Riko Amanai 12 years ago. (Also, the choice of words that Toji escaped cursed energy is very interesting, and worthy of further looking into). This allowed for Kenjaku to carry out his plan to weaken and further let Tengen evolve into an almost cursed spirit, which he could manipulate through Getou's technique (which explains why he seized his body) to finally let the ritual of breaking into the body and finally merging begin (the culling game). To allow this however, Kenjaku had to make different restrictions, one of which is not not be the Game Master of the Culling. But in this case, two questions come up: who is the Game Master and what are the other restrictions? Can this be used as an advantage by Yuuta, Yuuji, Megumi and Maki to beat Kenjaku, free Gojo and stop the Evolution?
And this also prompts the question of, if Kenjaku would merge with Tengen in Getou's body, what would the consequence be? Also, does this merging occur after the end of the Culling? What if Kenjaku finds another body to take advantage of and this way, the vows he made when it Getou's body are not worth anymore? Would that play in his favour? Could it even be possible?
Tumblr media
However, in order to do so, and since Tengen's barrier optimises cursed energy, and at the same time protects itself, Kenjaku is striving to eliminate Tengen's barrier. In the end, if the cursed energy is dispersed, yes it would mean chaos, but as well it would mean endless possibilities to evolve. Furthermore, if Is stretch this into unknown territory, what the picture could be is: since for Kenjaku the only ones able to successfully merge with Tengen and have a use out of it are Japanese people (for reasons stated before), and from the things we know of Kenjaku (old as they come, acquainted with Sukuna and Uraume, mad scientist who tampered with the Womb Paintings - creating Choso among the others, and most likely having tampered with the Itadoris') it would create the picture of a mad scientist in full gear striving for innovation, evolution, creating by destruction.
It gets cleared with the content on these next two panels:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kenjaku wants a chaotic world, one that even he cannot control, in which Cursed Energy is a limitless source and has no possibility to be put down. The question that comes naturally with it is definitely why, because I am afraid that merely 'evolution' is a downplay of the real intentions of someone who experimented so much and has survived different centuries, under different names - all of which (known for now) are of 'evil' jujutsu sorcerers (both Kamo Noritoshi and Getou Suguru), who did not conform with the will of jujutsu society.
Does Kenjaku want the whole to end, to go berserk - because if there are no barriers and one individual goes mad, everyone does? The creation of 'Trascendent Being' which are more than jujutsu sorcerers? To see what's over the threshold of jujutsu sorcery? To have the world as the scene for a new Shibuya but with the possibility to influence and kill more people? Territorial expansion extendable over a certain barrier?
Anyway, I am not sure what the point is, just that Gege's plot is absolutely amazing and I can't wait to know more.

Satoru Gojo is a busy man.
The strongest can't really take a break. He’s on call 24/7. People are pulling him in all directions simultaneously. With everything that's been going on, between the mess with Sukuna, and everything happening at the school, he’s been short on time.
He needs a break.
He's more tired than he lets on. He’s good at hiding it. Especially around his students. It's hard to pull him away from his work. He's insistent that he’s fine. When you’re around someone for so long, you learn to pick up when they aren't. He can pretend to be fine all he wants. You know otherwise.
Sometimes what the strongest needs is someone to boss him around.
He’s capable of taking care of himself. He’s proven that already. But worrying is in your nature. You care about him, of course you’re going to worry.
You were a first year when you met him, having just transfered schools after an incident involving a curse. In a matter of weeks your life had seemingly been flipped on its head. The switch took some time to get used to. Switching schools your first year, let alone switching to this one in particular, was never going to be easy. Getting used to the way Jujutsu society worked took a while. He was a year above you, and you remember absolutely hating him. Gojo was insufferable- or you found him to be such. But he was friends with Nanami, who was a friend of yours, so you reluctantly hung out with him. Nanami, being in the same year as you, was the first to help you out, extending a hand and helping you get used to the way things worked.
Spending time with him didn't do much to change your views. The two of you couldn't have been more different. You still are. But something about opposites attracts.
The first time you gave him the benefit of the doubt was the first time he saved your life.
It may be a bit of an over exaggeration. You’re certain you would have survived without his help, but that could also be an attempt to preserve your pride. You went after a curse, not expecting it to be as strong as it was. As far as you knew, it shouldn't have been stronger than a grade three. Being a grade two at the time, this should have been well in your ability. There ended up being more than one curse, and they were stronger than anyone had realized. You were in over your head.
It wasn't your fault. You couldn't have known. It's not like you could pick and choose which curses you fought. As a student, that was decided for you.
You had resigned to your fate, separated from the others, injured. Nothing fatal. It left a cool scar, though. But you were well out of your league, put on an assignment far harder than you could deal with. You hate to admit defeat, but you had no other option.
Out of what seemed like thin air came Gojo, taking out both curses like it was nothing. Despite not liking him all that much, it was hard to not be impressed. He was strong. Stronger than you could ever hope to be.
You made it home in one piece.
It was three days before you’d finally confront him.
Getting him alone was hard enough. Being an underclassman, you didn't interact with him a whole lot. You didn't have any classes together. The few times you ran into him were when you hung out with Nanami, who was gone at the time.
When the opportunity presented itself, you took it, cornering him behind the school.
Even back then it was impossible to sneak up on him. He could sense you coming.
“Jesus-” he said, referring to you by your last name, “you look like you want to kill me.”
“You helped me out.” You said. “Why?”
He only shrugged. Not wanting to take that for an answer, you followed him. You were insistent you paid him back. You’d never let a debt like that go unpaid. The first debts are always the hardest to pay back. And when a first debt involves saving your life, well, you’ve got a lifetime to pay back. You only left once Gojo showed up. He needed to talk to Gojo about something, and although you were curious, you didn't feel like sticking around.
Gojo spent the next couple days scheming. You were determined enough you would do just about anything. He could have easily abused his power. It would have been even easier to force you to drop it, but something told him you weren't about to take no for an answer.
You wouldn't.
3pm in the bathrooms. It was hardly a week later. Your last class had ended for the day. You had snuck cigarettes in, blowing the smoke out of the crack in the window. You don't smoke anymore, but you went through nearly a pack a day in high school. There wasn't a specific brand you liked—you didn't necessarily like smoking, but you did it when you were stressed—you just used whatever you got ahold of.
You didn't hear the door open. Gojo wasn't the sneaky type, but he could be when he wanted. You weren't too hard to sneak up on.
If you didn't have contraband that likely would have gotten you expelled, you would have screamed when you saw him. He scared you, not to mention he snuck into the girl’s bathrooms. The two of you would be in equally deep shit if you reported the other. So at that moment you came to a silent agreement.
“You still want to pay me back?” He asked. “Cause I have an idea.”
You perked up at his words.
“Get me mochi from that shop just down the road. You know the one that just opened up?” He asked. “Bring me some and I’ll call us even.”
“That's it?” You asked. It was almost anticlimactic. But despite everything, he was insistent.
Gojo hasn't changed a whole lot since then.
He still has his sweet tooth. He still makes you get him mochi from that shop. It feels like you’re the ones keeping it in business nowadays.
You’re not quite sure who made the first move.
Soon you began spending more time together away from Nanami and Geto. You got along better than anyone—mostly you—ever expected. You weren't the most outwardly affectionate. While you were far from shy, pda wasn't really your thing. Gojo is the opposite. Even now, years after you began dating, he’s still clingy. You’ve gotten used to it. Gojo is possessive, he wants everyone to know you’re his. Not that they don't know already. He can't shut up about you.
Getting him alone has always been hard. Not much has changed in the past few years. He’s only gotten busier. Try to drag him away from work all you want, you rarely succeed.
Tonight he's come willingly. He finished his work early, and all you had left was stuff you could finish in the morning.
Nights at home like this—together—are rare. It feels like you hardly see him anymore. You often fall asleep alone, only to wake up to the other side of the bed being cold. He’s been so occupied with this business with Yuji, that he’s hardly had time for anything else. You sneak away during your breaks, like you’re teenagers again, stealing kisses between classes. You almost don't know what to do.
It almost feels like you should do something to celebrate.
The lights are off when you get home. Your apartment looks empty. Megumi must still be out with his friends.
“What should we do for dinner?” Gojo asks.
“Takeout?” You say. "I don't feel like cooking."
Gojo’s a decent cook, but he doesn't feel like doing so either. He’d get takeout every night if you’d let him. But that's not good for him (or Megumi) so you force him to do otherwise. Because you’re normally home, and you like baking, you’re usually the one to make dinner. There's not much in the fridge. You'll have to get groceries eventually. Not tonight. Maybe tomorrow. It shouldn't take long.
“How does Korean barbeque sound?" He asks. "From that place down the street?”
"Sounds good,"
You find a menu buried in one of your kitchen drawers, stashed with other takeout menus. You pick out something—two meals, plus some sweet buns for dessert—he calls the restaurant. You pay the extra cash to have it delivered. Neither of you feel like going and picking it up. It's more convenient than the alternative.
The tv drones on in the background while you wait. There’s not much on tv at this hour. News, some late night soaps. While you do like your occasional soap opera, none that you normally watch are on. Gojo changes it to the news. The weather. It looks like it'll rain tomorrow morning, but the rest of the day is supposed to be warm.
"We should go to the park tomorrow," you say, "having a picnic sounds nice."
Gojo hums in approval. As long as you make those tea cakes—the ones with honey drizzled on top—he'll agree to tag along. Maybe you'll go check out the bookstore too. It's been a while since you've last gone.
You strip out of your uniform, pulling on some more comfortable clothes; a pair of shorts and one of Gojo's shirts. It smells like him. You can't help but bury your nose in the collar.
When there’s a knock at the door, Gojo is the one to answer. He returns with your food. You gather napkins and utensils. Gojo never saw the point in anything other than stainless steel chopsticks. Or wooden ones—those given to you with takeout—if he wasn't feeling up to doing dishes. You, on the other hand, bought all sorts of colorful ones and stands that may or may not have been lifted from various restaurants. That's one habit from your teenage years you never lost. You'd pocket almost anything that wasn't nailed down. Your apartment has a rather impressive assortment of salt and pepper shakers. Not to mention the box of hotel soaps you never use, but took because you "might" need it. He enables you, taking some whenever he stays out of town, bringing them home for you. Gojo can hardly say no to you.
Gojo settles next to you on the couch, his shoulder pressed to yours. He can't keep his hands off of you. He’s possessive by nature. Everyone has to know you’re his. He always has to be touching you. Not necessarily with his hands, but he presses his thigh against yours while sitting next to you, or his body pressed against yours from behind in public.
The two of you eat in relative silence. Gojo’s attention turns to the tv, but that doesn't stop him from practically laying on top of you. Occasionally he’ll sneak bites of your food, and you of his.
When you’re done, you clear away the empty containers, sitting any leftovers in the fridge. Gojo sprawls out on the couch. He easily takes up any bit of space. The couch can hardly fit all 6-foot-something of Gojo. It hardly fits you. You've been meaning to look for another one, but haven't found the time to.
He opens his arms, and instinctively you go into them. You move so you can rest partially against the arm of the couch, Gojo's head leaning against your shoulder. His arms loop around your waist, his fingers lacing over your stomach.
It doesn't take him long to begin to drift off. He falls asleep in the crook of your neck. The low sound of the tv, combined with the warmth of his body makes you want to drift off to sleep. Sleeping on the couch like this isn't very good for your (or his) back, but you don't want to move.
The next time your eyes open, some late night game show plays, disturbing your sleep with loud music. The clock on the wall reads some time past two. It's hard to read the minute hand. You gently shake Gojo awake. One of his eyes cracks open and he lets out a soft “hm?”
“Come to bed,” you say, your arms wrapping around his neck, “it's late.”
His eyes close, and for a moment you think he’s drifted back off to sleep, when his grip around you tightens, and he’s rolling over on top of you.
“I think I’ll stay here with you, mochi,” he says, planting a wet kiss to your neck. The feeling of his lips on your neck makes you shiver.
And though he doesn't move, there's a look in his eyes that tells you he has something planned. You only notice too late that his grip never loosens, and the mischievous glint to his eyes. You couldn't wiggle out of it if you wanted to. You're effectively trapped.
He litters your neck with kisses, sending you into a giggling fit, and he doesn't stop until you’re begging him to. Tears prick at the corners of your eyes from laughing. Your nails dig into your palms so hard they leave little crescent-shaped indents.
When you finally settle down, he’s pulling you into his arms bridal style, heading for your shared room. The bed is still unmade from this morning. Neither of you bothered to put it away. You were busy, and the thought slipped your mind.
Gojo shoves the covers aside, pulling you to lay on his chest. His fingers gently trace up the curve of your spine as he watches the steady rise and fall of your chest. Goosebumps prickle your exposed skin. He’s careful with how he touches you, loving, and soft. It's like he’s trying to memorize every inch of your body. His heartbeat is audible. Steady, and quet, acting as a lullaby. Your eyes shut, but you’re still awake. The intimacy of the moment doesn't go over your head.
He thinks he could die happy at this moment. Any moment, with you, really. Even during fights, or nights where he doesn't come home until long after you’ve fallen asleep, and you’re left irritated with his lack of time. As long as you’re by his side, he’s content.
He doesn't give much to the thought of settling down. His work will never let him. Neither does he think much about having any biological children. You practically have two already. Settling down isn't really an option for the strongest. This is the closest he’ll get to it.
For now, he just thinks about the park, and the blue sundress you always wear when you go.
Not many people can say they’ve changed who Satoru Gojo is as a person—let alone for the better—but you’ve changed him twice. Once in your meeting behind the school, and once again tonight. He’s found the one.
The first debt is always the hardest to pay back. But you've paid it in full.

So you all bought a house at some point. How neat! What was the process like? It was pretty fun, but also stressful as hell because it was not only a big step for the entire family, but also for the relationship itself. It's strange how signing a bunch of legal documents puts the past few years into perspective.
Regarding legal custody over Nanako and Mimiko. It was agreed that Nanako and Mimiko would be formally adopted by Suguru and you, which technically makes the two of you their fully recognized, legal guardians. All three of you would have loved to sign the official adoption papers together, but the laws aren't there just yet. Satoru was fine being left out of the adoption papers since you and Suguru have normal and sane families outside of jujutsu society, so getting the papers approved was exponentially easier this way.
He still has some degree of legal custody and authority over the girls. He's signed a power of attorney, which allows him to make any legal and financial decisions if neither you or Suguru are present or incapacitated. You all also drafted a will that grants Satoru full custody over the girls should you two kick the bucket. Neither you nor Suguru have any intentions of dying anytime soon, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. Having all these legal safeguards put in place gives you all a little peace of mind.
Since being raised with three parents is all they know, Nanako and Mimiko don't get why some of their classmates or even other parents think it's weird or “wrong”. They brushed it all off at first, their young minds at the time thinking the rude comments were their classmates being jealous or mad they only had two parents while they had three. As they got older and started to better understand that their family dynamic is not only nontraditional, but somewhat controversial, they took the offhanded comments and stares much more personally. They got into a few altercations in middle school. Not at the same magnitude as Megumi (thankfully), but you three were called quite often into the principal's office to discuss their behavior.
Yes, Satoru loathes these meetings just as much as you expect him to. Yes, Suguru does as well. Yes, it's usually up to you to keep your husbands calm and not give in to their urge to strangle the principal when they make blatantly underhanded comments towards you three. Don't worry, you're so used to dealing with authority figures making sly, degrading remarks right in front of you that you make sure to tear whoever it is you’re speaking with into a new one in a subtle manner. Your daughters' actions aren't the best, but neither are the actions of the people in charge of them. It's a constant battle of trying to find a middle ground that satisfies everyone involved.
Side note: You're not allowed to go to these meetings by yourself anymore. The one time you did was because of Megumi and he made the greatest mistake anyone could ever make; he got lippy with you.
Yeah, you tore him a new one too once he got it all out of his system. After that day, Megumi came to respect you as well as fear you. Mostly respect.
People eventually learn to shut up and mind their business when it comes to your family, but only after Satoru and Suguru gave them one too many death glares and intimidating gestures. Nanako and Mimiko aren't embarrassed by this at all or beg them to stop. In fact, they happily do the same to the other students too! ("What? If they get to do it, then so should we!")
Onto more light-hearted shenanigans. The one who’s most likely to pull out a whole roll of family pictures for random people given the slightest opportunity is Suguru. Satoru is a close second, but the photos he pulls out are the more embarrassing ones.
Some of his favorites are: A photo of Suguru with glittery pink bows in his hair, courtesy of Mimiko, while Nanako crookedly applies makeup on him, disgustingly blue eyeshadow and pink lipstick included. A photo of the girls drawing on your face with a permanent marker he gave them while you took a nap. A photo of Nanako and Mimiko dressed up like him, blindfold included.
Suguru and you are usually the designated shopping bag holders whenever the three of you go out to shop because Satoru doesn't know when to stop buying shit. He even buys random things too! Examples? A retro portable cd player or a second-hand gaming console from the 90's that he doesn’t even play. He even bought a saxophone once, and you're damn sure he’s never held one in his entire life.
As everyone knows, Satoru has expensive tastes when it comes to clothing. If he's stuck between two items and can't choose, he will almost always go down the "I'll buy them both!" route even though he knows there's no space to put it once you guys head back home.
His spending habits aren't entirely cluttering. Sometimes he'll buy something for you and Suguru or even for the kids. Clothes, jewelry, accessories, anything that his mind latches onto and makes him think "Oh, they'll like this!", he'll buy it without worrying about receiving something in return. How sweet!
Just kidding lmao if he gets you or Suguru a gift he accepts taking over his weekly chores as a fair trade. He's a bit less evil with Nanako and Mimiko. All they have to do is give him half of their dessert after dinner! That's all!
Speaking of Satoru being a spoiling spouse, he definitely spoiled the girls with candy when they were younger. They suffered a few cavities later down the line because he truly doesn’t know when to stop and even went behind your back whenever you told him to stop and it was a pain having to deal with. Thankfully, as they got older they gradually turned away his sneaky offers which shattered his heart into dust. It seemed like it was just yesterday when they were tugging on his shirt and begging him for an extra piece.
When it comes to Nana and Mimi's dating when they're teenagers, you’re usually the one they go to regarding that realm. When your husbands find out you’ve been in the loop and they aren't. it’s almost laughable how they expect you to share all the details with them. They’ll push and try to appeal to you to get you to loosen your tongue, but it’s glued shut over the more juicy details. The crumbs you do give them are about potential suitors but nothing more. Don’t be surprised if you find out they staked out their school to see who exactly you’ve told them about.
So, what happens if one of them brings a love interest back home or they let it slip they’re seeing someone? Tou guys are gonna invite the lucky person over, of course! Satoru and Suguru are going to interrogate and threaten them if you take your eyes off them for too long. it's sort of inevitable at this point. They can't cope with the girls growing up so quickly. You on the other hand are a bit more welcoming and lax with whoever they bring home. The general consensus is that you all will love and support whoever they decide to be with, but if the guy or gal is clearly a piece of shit scumbag they better hope none of you catch wind of this. You’re all equally overprotective when it comes to your girls.
In the event that Nanako and Mimiko decide that they want to become Sorcerers, they’re going to be met with a lot of resistance from the three of you, especially Suguru. This life isn’t one you would wish upon your worst enemy. Yes, all three of you met through this way of life, but you all had close encounters with death far more than anyone else should have to experience. Most of the people you’ve met are either dead or disfigured beyond recognition. The ones in charge are a bunch of bullshit traditionalists and Satoru and Suguru are trying to defy them with their progressive motives, which still needs to be approached with considerable caution despite them being the strongest. Needless to say, things aren’t that great within the jujutsu world and you don’t want your kids anywhere near it while the iron is still hot and constantly being struck.
If they really push the issue and show that they are dead set to follow in their parent’s footsteps, you all will give your blessings and get them enrolled at your alma mater. While the three of you still work at Tokyo tech, going back to the dormitory is very daunting and brings back both good and bad memories. What’s even funnier is that your old room still has the large mattress you bought all those years ago. It was well worn out by the time you all graduated.
Ah, the good old days of waking up either too hot or too cold, limbs entangled and someone likely drooling on the other.

I'm not sure Gojo has ever even shown an interest to any girls.
He calls Utahime weak and teases her by making fun of her, essentially- which she hates. Mei Mei is incredibly strong and beautiful, and Gojo acknowledges her skill but that's it. I also noticed that in the anime (the manga doesn't have honorifics, so please correct me if I'm wrong) but he calls her Mei-san rather than Mei Mei. Therefore, I don't think he ever tried to get much closer to her than the interactions we've seen. When she asks him if he'd comfort her if she cried, he tells her that's she strong- she wouldn't cry. I thought it was interesting that while Mei Mei's question was slightly flirty, Gojo answered so simply, without any teasing.
He calls Shoko by her first name, which is understandable since they spend more time together being in the same grade. He realizes that her ability is rare and useful, but like with Utahime and Mei Mei he doesn't go any further than that. He mostly speaks to her about work related things and doesn't flirt or tease much at all.
Honestly, I think Gojo actually respects his female colleagues and mostly pokes fun at Utahime because she's so uptight and strict. Shoko and Mei Mei are more relaxed and self-assured, and Gojo recognizes their skills and compliments them for it rather than teasing them. I doubt Gojo really thinks Utahime is truly weak more than he just loves riling her up. Other than that, Gojo's pretty respectful.
Also, in the Hidden Inventory arc, Gojo was bombarded with screaming from all the girls excited to see him. Other than pulling his shades down so they could see his face- after they asked him to, btw- he didn't really do much else. He didn't even react much to the teacher giving him her phone number. His only comment was "what a fun school," and it's interesting to see that while lots of girls do appreciate his looks, he acts only mildly amused.
Other than that one model as his wallpaper, we don't really see Gojo flirt or show interest with anyone. He only really teases Utahime to piss her off- I suspect he hates how much she follows the rules like Nanami does, who he teases often as well. He likely just enjoys annoying people so stern because rules just don't sit well with him (especially because of what those "rules" had done to Geto).
It's just a possibility, but he could be one of those guys who's more interested in work than pleasure- I know, he's handsome, but not all handsome people are players and cheaters. I think that's a horrible stigma and a lot of attractive people irl are judged and criticized solely for their looks. People make too many assumptions on someone just based on their genes, and I think it's pretty shallow to think Gojo's a womanizer just because he's attractive. And he knows he's attractive- but when did being confident in yourself make you a philanderer? Gojo has never used his looks manipulatively at all.
It's definitely a possibility that he would be a womanizer, but I'd say it's unlikely based in what we've seen. To sum it all up, Gojo doesn't show interest in anyone. He teases Utahime often, likely for the same reason be teases Nanami- they're too uptight. Shoko and Mei Mei are both incredibly skilled and beautiful sorcerers, and he does acknowledge and compliment them for it, but he doesn't tease or flirt with them. He's respectful, and he works with them as his colleagues. He didn't get distracted by the teen girls fawning over him either, or suddenly get overtly cocky or show off, only sliding his glasses down so they could see his face, and even then he acted only mildly amused. Also, when Miwa asked him for a picture, he didn't even stay and chat with her or anything (I know she's a minor, but if he truly was a womanizer, he would have at least stayed to hear her compliment him or anything to feed his ego) Maybe ask her "Oh, you want a picture with me? The strongest? How cute~" A flirty comment, a joke, something to fuel his own ego, but he doesn't do that. He doesn't act in a way that conveys he openly pursues attention from women. He just takes the picture with her and walks off casually.
Therefore, other than the fact that he's handsome- and I know many people who would assume things about someone based on their attractiveness, which is a terrible stereotype- Gojo doesn't show much interest in flirting at all. He could be the type of guy who works more than plays- and there's plenty of guys who are handsome but aren't super interested in playing around. Being handsome doesn't automatically mean he's the type to sneak around and have affairs here and there. It's completely realistic for a handsome man to be uninterested in any kind of relationships- not all men are sex crazed, and being a tease to his friends doesn't make Gojo a flirt either. Teasing your friends is perfectly normal.
Therefore, Gojo being a 28 year old virgin is totally possible- not everyone's a sex crazed teen who only thinks about what's between their legs, and basing it on what normal Japanese teens do is unfair. Neither Gojo or his lifestyle is exactly normal, and there's definitely barriers when it comes to experiencing normal youth activities for Gojo's generation- especially Gojo's generation. Yuji's generation definitely has more freedom to do fun things because of what Gojo has done to give the youth more freedom- things he hasn't been able to experience himself in his youth, like playing baseball during the exchange event. That was the first time they ever did something different to tradition, and that was only because of Gojo's consideration.
Gojo's youth was filled with blood, exorcising, and choosing between life and death. The deaths Yuji and co. witnessed were what Gojo experienced as well, if not worse. Gojo's task in his youth was to protect the weak, and he found that burdensome. At least, until Geto betrayed them, and Gojo realized the new burden he had to bear in changing the Jujutsu world because of what it had done to his only best friend.
There are definitely more important things in Gojo's mind than just losing his virginity, like saving people and choosing who to save, whether he should kill or not kill.
Gojo is the strongest, but he also bears the biggest burden- and that burden is something he chose to bear, and being the strongest is something he chose to be. Because before Geto left, it was "We are the Strongest." Now, Gojo worked tirelessly so that he could say "I am the Strongest."
And that's not something you can do while sleeping around. I think a lot of people fail to recognize just how hard Gojo works for himself and others. They just think, oh he's the strongest, so it should be easy for him. But it's really, really not that simple, is it? Especially when you have to do it on your own, and even then Gojo realizes that his strength alone isn't enough to save people. He can't save everyone by himself- It's not enough for just him to be the Strongest, so he works diligently to build and inspire his students to stand with him.
He's actually a very deep and emotional man who cares about his students and especially, even now, his best friend. Everything he does is for their sake- he sacrifices the normal life he could have lived, like Nanami had done, for their sake. And he fights with the higher ups, takes the brunt of their ire, and laughs it off, acting as if he fine, like a dad pretending he's superman for his kid's sake. But Gojo is burdened, and he's tired, and he hardly sleeps, and he has the most missions- he's the Strongest, which means everyone needs him, and he bears it.
Sorry for ranting again tho. I think I went into two different topics lol oops- 🤔
OUR SAVIOR 🤔 EDUCATING PEOPLE pay attention ya'll another thing I've noticed in the latest episode is that in his phone contacts he actually writes Utahime's name properly like formally no emojis or teasing shit he actually sees them as his colleagues people he can rely on his field of work and yes about the whole thing when he bursted into riko's class man was absolutely clueless just silent as a teacher tries to give him his number. I'm pretty sure as a child Gojo wasn't allowed to attend public schools due him being in danger or putting others in danger so he doesn't know much about public schools or normal people in general since he spends all his time with people from the jujutsu society.
That is definitely true just because someone is good looking that doesnt mean he's some cheap womanizer. I see a lot of people shipping him and Utahime together which is understandable ship who you like but I don't think Gojo as any ulterior motives like wooing Utahime by teasing her he just is plainly teasing ya know like friends do but in this case Utahime hates his guts and he doesnt know. I mean it takes some amount of hate to try to throw hot tea at someone 😂
While certainly I agree Gojo's teen like wasn't the best it was like he literally had a full time job at that age but who's to stay he didn't go messing around one time? I'm sure during his teen days he wanted to experience things he didnt get to to but now could because he lives on his own now. But maybe he didnt at all who knows? Which also raises another question, I wonder if he has any romantic experiences? And this was all before what happened in the hidden inventory arc after that I can see him more becoming invested in his duty and with what happened with geto as well would of definitely had a huge impact on him to try harder even though hes the strongest so that the next generation wouldn't have to experience the things he went through.
It's really sad if you really think about it what hes been through and what he has to shoulder all while keeping the facade that he's okay, I bet there were times he cursed his powers and his life....but he bears with it anyways because everyone is counting on him....
And don't be sorry at all! I am actually really learning alot about Gojo from you. Please continue to tell us your thoughts and feelings. I don't mind at all ❤ and thank you for taking the time to write 💕

satosugu: the duality of yin and yang
jjk manga spoilers ahead!!!
Black and white are two colours commonly associated with duality, right?¿ Or at least, the quality of being opposites. Black and white; sun and moon; night and day.
Yin and yang.
Tumblr media
For those that are unfamiliar, the ‘yin’ (darker side) is associated with femininity, darkness, and negativity, whereas the ‘yang’ (lighter side) is associated with masculinity, brightness, and positivity. A key concept in yin and yang is the idea of balance—yin and yang are complementary. They cannot exist without the other, just as light casts shadows and shadows exist only with light.
Now, it may just be a dumb reason like Getou and Gojou’s hair colours + aesthetic being black and white respectively that resulted in me writing this LMAO BUT I MEAN HERE I AM ANYWAY so I’ll try to keep it short.
Tumblr media
(disclaimer: im not exactly an expert on this topic so feel free to correct me if i make a mistake akjdskfjks)
From what I’m familiar with, yin and yang are innately interconnected. Just look at the symbol above; you’ll notice that there’s white in the black swirl and black in the white. They’re two sides of the same coin. Meanwhile, Gojou and Getou are, fundamentally, so incredibly different yet somehow very similar—though the driving force of their motivations contrasts quite strongly, both of them are, quote unquote, ‘strong’, and more importantly recognise something wrong with their current shaman/jujutsu sorcerer system. Whether as friends, rivals, or enemies, they complement each other, just as yin and yang do.
Before I delve into this let me just note I think neither yin nor yang is inherently evil. They just... are. But when there’s an imbalance, well, that’s bound to cause some issues.
Tumblr media
I’ll first be talking about Getou as ‘yin’. Needless to say this is quite obvious on a surface level haha. Genocidal guy with black hair goes brrrrr. But yeah, there’s probably more to it than that. For one, yin also brings with it connotations of a sort of ‘active principle’; this can be seen in the Getou’s reaction to, uh, that arc. Yes, you know which one. Amanai’s death sparked a change and prompted him to dig deeper into the issues with their shaman system—he eventually takes matters into his own hands and goes on a nice little killing spree resulting in his death resulting in his corpse being possessed resulting in another killing spree resulting in- you get the idea.
Meanwhile, you can really see a difference in Gojou’s reaction. Sure, he’s hardly happy about the whole thing, but it didn’t seem to hit him, well, as hard as it did for Getou.... or at least it didn’t seem to make him have an existential and long-lasting moral crisis lmao. Yang actually has connotations of ‘altruistism’ which is kinda hilarious because (no offense) Gojou is anything but altruistic—in fact, it’s Getou who would be more fitting of that description, even if that altruism is born out of a deep sense of responsibility and idealogical obligation.
Anywaaaay, back to the point. As yin signifies ‘active’, conversely yang would signify being ‘passive’; I wouldn’t go so far as to call Gojou completely passive, but like I mentioned earlier, his reaction to Amanai’s death does appear more passive compared to Getou—even their solutions to the underlying problems to the shaman society highlight this difference. Getou’s is to... you know. Commit mass murder. Gojou’s is more toned down, more subtle. He decides to guide a new generation for the future. He’s also ‘passive’ in a way that because he’s strong, so-called ‘the strongest’—he has the power to make a lot more change, a lot more upheaval, probably even had the power to kill or at least stop Getou during that Shinjuku KFC breakup we all know and hate. But he doesn’t. That sounds pretty passive to me.
Ehhh, I’m not sure this is the best example, but I’m putting it out there as an idea anyway.
Tumblr media
And just as there is yin in yang and yang in yin, Getou and Gojou have each influenced the other drastically. There are parts of Getou in Gojou, parts of Gojou in Getou. Major events in their lives are intertwined with their counterpart in one way or the other—Getou’s departure prompted (or at least heavily influenced) Gojou to become a teacher, whereas in Shinjuku Getou implies he doesn’t see his goal as impossible because “it’s possible for you, right? Satoru.” There are smaller things, too, like how Gojou changes his pronouns from ‘ore’ to ‘boku’ like Getou told him to do before (no proof that this is because of Getou but I mean, well, inference ig). Either way, it is pretty clear—at least to me—that the two of them are entwined together, in a symbolic way or otherwise.
One more thing imma point out (AND IVE BEEN WANTING TO DO THIS SINCE FOREVER) is their names lol I mean c’mon. Getou and Gojou, Gojou and Getou? Satoru and Suguru, Suguru and Satoru¿ GS^2!!! Their initials the same!!! Could be coincidence, could be Gege just tryna screw with us, or it could how like they’re made to be two parts of one whole. Just like yin and yang and how they ultimately unite as one. Or, I mean, it could also just be me reading too much into it.
Tumblr media
HHHHHHHHhhhhhh so I could go on and on all day about the varying aspects of yin and yang and how they connect to satosugu but unfortunately I have an overdue essay to write T_T I’ve only listed a few parallels here when there’s so much more to be fleshed out but I guess here’s some food for thought for now. Idk I just see a lot of potential in using yin and yang to analyse them hahahha... what do you guys think? Anyway that’s it for now~ thank you for reading and have a great day ahead! ^^

A Bond Built Through Adversity
Tumblr media
For @itafushiweek bonus day
Bang Bang Bang “WAKE UP!!” Gojo cackled in the dorm’s hallway. Bang Bang Bang “RISE AND SHINE!!”
Slowly, but surely two grumpy faces shambled out from their rooms, each using the doors threshold to hold themselves upright. The sun had barely cracked the horizon, and neither were thrilled by the early morning wakeup call!
“What the fuck do you want?” Megumi spat out as he rubbed his eyes. “It better be good!”
But Itadori…
“Oi!” Gojo clapped his hands loudly in front of the man. “Wake up!”
… Itadori was sleeping where he stood. “Huh?” One eye cracked open. “Ye-yeah I’m up. What’s up?”
“Today we’re going on a special field trip to the mountains!” Gojo clasped his hands in front of himself with a mischievous grin. “You’re growing too soft, so a lo—ng hike is just what you need.”
“Are you crazy!” Megumi snapped to attention.
“Of course, I am,” Gojo’s smile never faltered. “Isn’t that obvious by now?”
Megumi crossed his arms in a huff. “Well, I’m not moving until you give me a damn good reason.”
“Megu—” Gojo reached out with a whiny voice, and pulled his hand lose, throwing on his saddest, please, for me smile. “Be a good boy for me, Megu…”
Yuuji quickly straightened up stiff as a board in annoyance and smacked Gojo’s hand away from Megumi. “Stop it with that cutesy stuff, just answer the question.”
“My, my, Yuuji, such a morning grump,” Gojo teased knowingly. “Fine. It’s a bonding exercise, so dress for a hike, pack a backpack with water, a towel, and be out front in 20 minutes.” But still when nobody moved. “Chop, chop!” He clapped his hands condescendingly. “It’s best to get an early start before the sun is high.”
Through the muttered swears and slams of dresser drawers, the students gathered the things their teacher had told them to pack. Megumi was the closest to a morning person of the pair and even he was fuming over being awoken at such an early hour. If it were for a mission, fine, but not some stupid hike into the mountains! They each had their reasons for being annoyed with the whole situation, but for Yuuji it was different. Frankly, he didn’t care about going on a hike, or a bonding exercise. The moment Gojo grabbed Megumi’s hand it woke him up and not in a happy way.
“Oh, hell no!” Megumi snapped as his eyes trailed up the steep, long, narrow stone steps leading through and disappearing into the thicket of pine trees. “You’ve got to be kidding us!”
“There’s a prize at the end,” Gojo wrapped an arm around Megumi’s shoulders, taking his time to lean in and whisper close to the man’s ear. “I promise you’ll like it.”
Seeing his friend’s fist ball up, Yuuji pulled Gojo off Megumi. “Come on, come on, let’s get this shit over with.”
Yuuji did his best to stay between Gojo and Megumi as they walked up the stairs, but it wasn’t easy. The incline was quite steep, following the side of a mountain, with dense brush along the edges. It was certainly a very old, worn trail and one not used very often in modern times. Could anyone be blamed for not using it? First off, it was in the Hakone national park, half a kilometer off a hidden trail, and up a ridge. Park rangers probably didn’t know it existed, so how Gojo knew of the place Yuuji had no idea. He assumed this would lead to some ancient and abandoned mountain shrine once used by jujutsu sorcerers. Maybe Sukuna would know of its existence?
‘I don’t, so don’t ask,’ the voice in his head answered the question. ‘I’m old, but I don’t know everything.’
‘Surprising,’ Yuuji growled back at Sukuna for eavesdropping on his thoughts.
‘Oi, pay attention,’ the voice growled back.
‘To what?’
‘Your boy.’
‘My—’ Yuuji cut off his response when he saw what was happening ahead of him. He’d been so focused on the natural surroundings, he forgot about the unnatural one taking place. ‘That damn, irritating!’ Yuuji walked faster to catch up with Gojo and Megumi, cutting in between and forcing Gojo to step backwards. “Less talking, more walking.”
“But Yuuji,” Gojo wrapped his arm around the man and forced him to line up with him. “How are we supposed to…” he leaned in with a grin, “bond without talking to each other.”
Ugh! Gojo’s voice was so irritating when he whined and acted childish. “You can talk,” Yuuji shoved the man off. “But talk doesn’t involve hanging all over us.”
Gasp! Gojo feigned surprise. “Yuuji are you jealous of me touching Megumi?”
“WHA— what?!” Yuuji caught himself quickly before Megumi would hear him. “I am not!” He spat back through gritted teeth. He crossed his arms. “I’m still annoyed you dragged us out here so early.”
“Oh…” Gojo chuckled. “Mmhmm, I guess that would account for your behavior today.”
For two hours the back and forth continued. Yuuji watched with a locked jaw in frustration when every chance Gojo had he took to touch Megumi. Playing with the man’s hair, hanging on his shoulder, talking so closely as if the man was deaf and it was necessary. And each time, Yuuji would cut between them. Oh, Megumi fought back too, snapping at Gojo, and pushing him away, but the man never took the hint. What was up with their teacher today! This was not the norm for Gojo. He never showed so much interest in either of the students before! So, why now? Why bring them here? ‘And what was with the obsession with Megumi!’ Yuuji snapped in his head.
It took almost three hours, but the trio finally reached the top of the stairs and breached the tree line. Okay, Yuuji had to admit the view was quite spectacular from this vantage point. On one side Mt. Fuji rose like a Goliath ready to smite any who dared to disturb it. On the other side, they could see the expansive blues of the Pacific Ocean stretching out to the horizon. And lastly, a handful of steaming hot ponds in various sizes. A couple of them were small, enough for maybe two people to be comfortable in, and one was large, almost the size of a residential swimming pool.
“Surprise!” Gojo’s arms raised above his head as he cheered. “A secret onsen! Isn’t it cool! Geto and I found it years ago by accident while tracking a curse.” He pulled the two students close, one under each arm. “It’s perfect for a little bonding time.”
Megumi shoved Gojo away. “I can’t believe you dragged us up a mountain ridge just for this.”
“Oh, don’t be like that!” Gojo flung himself onto the man in a tight hug from the back. “I wanted to share something special with you,” his voice whined.
“That it is!” Megumi completely snapped. He wiggled out of Gojo’s hold and swings a fist at the man. It misses, but that didn’t stop him from continuing his tirade. “You damn perverted teacher! Go flirt with someone who wants your attention, cause I don’t!” Without waiting for a response, Megumi grabbed his back and stomped away to one of the smaller hot ponds further away with Gojo only standing there watching him leave, with a big grin in his face.
That’s when Yuuji, who’d had enough as well, followed the energy left in Megumi’s wake to confront their teacher. He whipped Gojo around, grabbing the front of his shirt with his hand raised to strike. “Talk! What’s your deal? Why are you acting like this?!”
Gojo shrugged, his trademark cool grin never leaving his expression. “Someone had to push you.”
“What the hell are you talking about?!” Yuuji screamed.
Gojo simply flicked the hand of Yuuji’s holding onto his shirt causing the man to let go and wince in pain. His simple strikes were always so much harder than they looked. He then smoothed out the wrinkles on his shirt left by Yuuji. “Two weeks ago, do you remember the day you were supposed to be mopping the dojo?”
“Yeah.”
“Mopping the dojo,” Gojo reiterated, “as in cleaning and not dancing…”
“Yea— oh… maybe…”
“It was adorable, really, and that dip— I was impressed that you knew how to dance like that Yuuji. Your partner was a lucky… mop,” he snickered.
“Ha, ha, funny,” Yuuji pretended not to care. “So, what if I was dancing with a mop? As if I don’t do weird things sometimes.”
“Oh, that’s certainly true,” Gojo chuckled again, “but I heard you thanking your partner…” He wrapped his arms around his body in a reenactment, adding exaggerated kissing sounds for effect. “Thank you for a lovely dance, Megumi. smooch, smooch, smoo—”
Yuuji slammed a hand over Gojo’s mouth to stop him. “Shhhh!! I get it! Okay, you caught me!” His ears burned and heat dusted his cheeks in embarrassment. “So, you were actually trying to make me jealous.”
“Yup! As if it was hard to do.” Gojo jabbed a finger in Yuuji’s chest. “Now, run along young one and go bondwith your love interest.”
“Ugh,” Yuuji groaned. Did Gojo have to be this transparent?! “You’re not cute.”
“Yes, I am.” Gojo turned away to leave. “Oh, and by the way, Nitta will pick you up at the bottom road at 6pm, so don’t be late. That gives you…” he checked his phone, “at least 4 hours of cuddling time.”
“Bastard!”
Gojo winked in a side-eye with a two-fingered wave. “See you back at campus!”
‘Wanna kill him?’ Sukuna laughed in Yuuji’s head. ‘Push him off the cliff?’
“No…” Yuuji sighed, and shoulders slumped.
‘You’re so not fun.’
“Hush!” Yuuji snapped at Sukuna. “Go back to sleep or something!”
‘Pfft, suit yourself loser!’
And just like that, Yuuji was alone again. Hopefully. After dealing with Gojo, the last thing he needed was an annoying Sukuna in his ear constantly teasing him too. He had a much bigger issue to deal with now. Megumi. What to do about Megumi?!
He followed the same trail around a sheer cliff face and found the man already submerged in a hot pond at its base. It was a cute little tucked away spot, and under other circumstances the perfect place to relax away from society. But not today, and for probably the first time in Yuuji’s life he was embarrassed to undress in front of another person. He’d never been the shy type about his body, at least when it came to other men, but this wasn’t just any man he was facing. Yuuji took a deep breath with an even longer exhale in preparation.
“Hey!” Yuuji waved as nonchalantly as he could under the weight of emotions circling his brain. “Mind if I join you?”
“I don’t care.” Megumi responded. He looked around. “But where’d Gojo go?”
“Oh, um… he left.”
Megumi sat up in the water. “Seriously?! He dragged us up here only to ditch us?!”
“Yeah…” Yuuji scratched his head nervously. “Said something about giving us time alone to bond. Nitta’s gonna pick us up at the bottom road at 6pm.”
Megumi groaned and slumped back into the water. “Guess, nothing else to do but forget about him then.” He closed his eyes and leaned back. “Actually, the peace and quiet is a good thing.”
Yuuji chuckled nervously. “Oh, yeah, that’s true.”
He removed his clothes and slipped into the water adjacent to Megumi. The water was the perfect temperature, not overly hot but bearable on this light snowy day. It was deep enough to where the water almost covered their shoulders too and wide enough with legs stretched out not to hit the other’s feet. Yuuji does his best to relax, closing his eyes and letting the steamy waters melt away the torment brewing in his heart. Gojo had put them in this situation for a reason. He knew the answer, but did Megumi suspect anything? Kami he hoped not! It was his fault for getting caught in the first place. Gojo wasn’t even supposed to be on campus that afternoon, off on a mission a few towns away outside of Tokyo. In fact, none of the other students had been on campus except him. So, he’d thought, why not have a little fun? ‘I got carried away,’ Yuuji groaned in his head.
Several minutes pass by in relative peace and quiet. The only sounds were of the water anytime one of them shifted, occasional birds risking the winter air, or just the natural sounds of the forest. Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad after all. Their profession could be daunting at times and breaks like this one a luxury. Yuuji couldn’t remember the last time he’d been to an onsen. Was it before he’d even become a jujutsu sorcerer? But now that he thought about it, this spot was also romantic in its own way. The natural beauty bathed in the shadow of Mt. Fuji. The random, wispy little snowflakes that fell around them, to the instrumental music of the forest lulling them into a comfortable mood. Even the heat played its role, soothing their muscles and warming their bodies. A great way to hide the emotional heat stirred up on his skin for sure! If Yuuji stopped controlling his mind, his cheeks would certainly be marred by a cherry finish.
“By the way, thanks back there,” Megumi broke the silence. “You know, with Gojo.”
“Huh? Oh, yeah, sure. He was being overly annoying today.”
“Yeah, I don’t understand what his problem was. He’s usually not this bad.”
Yuuji chuckled nervously. “Yeah, that guy is something else.”
Catching the anxiety-laden tone in Yuuji’s voice. Megumi opened his eyes and stared at the man. “Do you know why he was acting like that?”
“What?! Me, ehrm, no!”
“Now I know you lying, cause you suck at it. Yuuji, why was Gojo being an idiot?”
“He, um… It’s because he, you know, notices things.”
“Uh-huh? Like what?”
“Things.”
“What things?!”
“You know, like about people. He’s perceptive.”
“While I don’t disagree, I’m sensing a specific thing is the reason. So just tell me what it is.”
“I told you. He said we needed to bond more.”
“Bond? As in what? We already work together just fine, what more bonding do we need to do?”
“Um… I don’t know… he’s got weird ideas sometimes; you know that Megumi.”
“If you don’t want to tell me, then fine.” Megumi closed his eyes again in a huff.
Oh, fuck! Oh, fuck! Oh, fuck! Yuuji cringed all the way down until his nose barely treaded water. He could tell plain as day Megumi was irritated with him by the inflection of the man’s voice. This wasn’t good! Ugh! It was going so smoothly too! Tell him? Don’t tell him. Tell him? Don’t tell him… the choice flipped back and forth in Yuuji’s head.
‘For fucks sake just tell him you damn virgin!’
“Shut up!”
“What?!”
Oh, fuck! “N-not you!” Yuuji waved his hands to clear the air. “Sukuna. H-He won’t shut up in my head.” He watched Megumi’s eyebrow raise slightly before he closed his eyes again, seemingly satisfied by the answer. Yuuji breathed a sigh of relief.
‘Let me run my own life!’ He screamed at Sukuna.
‘Fine. Virgin boy, I’m just trying to help so you’d shut up about it.’
And again, silence once more in Yuuji’s mind. Oh, how he wished he could reach into his own head and strangle the cursed user! ‘I’m gonna enjoy killing you,’ Yuuji spat back a final retort.
But both Gojo and Sukuna were right. Yuuji had a choice to make. Tell Megumi how he felt or forever bury his peace and learn to live with the pining… which would include not getting jealous— ‘that’s not happening…’ Yuuji sighed internally. Lately it’s been getting harder and harder to curb those tendencies. With Gojo, well, it’s Gojo, so he’d reacted on instinct. But others, the public, victims, fellow students… Yuuji might develop TMJ if kept his jaw locked any more times just to stop from reacting. He didn’t want anyone too close, especially men. Things were getting out of hand. ‘This isn’t me! I’m the nice guy!’ And yet here he was acting like a fool.
“Yuuji, why do you look so tense now?”
Eek!! Yuuji sat up quickly. “No, why do you ask?”
Megumi narrowed his eyes. “Because you looked constipated. Talk.”
“I—” Yuuji started ready to make another excuse, but his mouth slammed shut when Megumi’s brow raised with his ‘no bullshit’ look. “Okay,” he sighed. “I’ll tell the truth.” Yuuji shrunk down as his voice lowered and eyes turned away. “I… like someone… like, a lot and well, you know how Gojo kept bugging you, he um, was actually trying to rile me up about the… person… but yeah, so that’s why I was acting weird.”
“I already know you like me idiot.”
“Wait! You do?!”
“You’re not hard to figure out. That’s why I never said anything when you kept running interference with Gojo.”
“I can’t believe you knew all this time… now I’m so lost.”
“Also not surprising, good thing I don’t mind.”
“Don’t mind?”
Megumi rolled his eyes. “Will you just ask me out and get it over with. I’m trying to relax.”
Yuuji moved over tentatively until he was sitting next to his friend. “Megumi, will you be my boyfriend?”
Megumi chuckled under his breath and simply closed the small gap between them, leaning his head against Yuuji’s shoulder with a contented sigh.
Oh, this was perfect! Yuuji sighed too and leaned his head against Megumi’s. His heart still raced, but for a new reason. It was an exciting rush to have his best friend at his side, in a new relationship built on trust and bonded by experiences. Yuuji felt invincible at that moment.
‘You’re still a virgin idiot.’ Sukuna laughed.
‘Tch. Not even you can ruin this for me,’ Yuuji spat back and closed his eyes with the biggest smile of his life.

Eeee good! I've had this brain rot in my head since I realized I had a crush on Kageyama v.v
But like, a sweet/angst kinda thing where Kageyama might have had a crush on you in high school but he just couldn't process it. So graduation happens, everyone's personal growth into adulthood happens and you stay close as friends. But there's a moment when Kageyama asks if you'd be willing to catch up. Of course you say yes he's your friend. And it's then Kageyama just blurts out that he's always liked you. He feels stupid it took him this long but your the one thing that always felt off when he was traveling an becoming a part of the Schweiden team. Anyways I'm sorry this is wordy and stupid you don't have to do it or anything I just have Kageyama brain rot >.<
Love your stuff,
Jujutsu Curses ❤❤❤❤❤
A/N: *rises from the grave* HELLO!! i finally have the time and energy to write and i shall begin with this banger of a request uwu Kageyama was legit my first haiku love and i wanna kith his forehead thank u
@tobios-housewife
genres: fluff, angst, hurt/comfort, happy ending!!; 2.1k words
a long time [Kageyama Tobio X Reader]
He can’t help but fiddle with the half-empty mug sitting in front of him, his eyes darting over to the front door of the cafe every few seconds as he taps his foot on the ground. The rapid pace of his tapping is rivalled only by the wild thumping of his heart.
Kageyama Tobio glances at the entrance of the establishment once more, catching a stranger staring at him from the corner of his eye. They glare and his foot stops automatically—the awareness that was required of him is something he did not possess in his growing years and even now, as an accomplished adult, the instinct to abide by society’s unwritten social rules still catches him off guard sometimes.
He lifts the mug to his lips and takes a short sip of the piping hot beverage. You’d texted him that you were going to be slightly late and yet he couldn’t help but purchase his usual order first, the anxiety of what he’d set out to do today too much to handle without something—anything—to fiddle with. Of course, he has his volleyball in his gym bag but he knows he’ll only receive odd stares if he resorts to randomly touching it while waiting for you.
The athlete wonders—the racing of his mind akin to that of when he’s in a heated match—if he would be aware of such social nuances had it not been for your presence in his life.
You were—and honestly still are—a force to be reckoned with; someone he never imagined befriending in high school and yet you’d walked right into his life (and his heart), took a seat and never left.
“You’re good at that,” you said, watching from the entrance of Karasuno’s volleyball gym. It was nothing he hadn’t heard before.
As the ball bounced away from the toppled-over plastic bottle on the other side of the net, all he could do was stare at the ground near your feet, speechless. He wasn’t expecting anyone to come in on a Sunday, let alone talk to him out of nowhere.
“You’re supposed to say ‘thanks’, you know?” you told him in a tone that he knew was supposed to be lighthearted.
“Why?” he replied anyways, not sure how he should have responded to your joke.
You laughed and while Kageyama felt that he should have been insulted to some degree, instead, he found himself smiling.
Thinking back, he only now realises it was a smile of relief; you weren’t frustrated or annoyed by his dry and awkward reply, although it would’ve been understandable if you were (especially as the two of you were still teens) but you weren’t and he appreciated it.
He still appreciates it.
“No, dude, it’s 65 because of the ‘x’ here, see? It would be 127 if it had been there instead, though,” you pointed at the parts of the painfully long equation as you spoke, “so it’s not like you don’t know how to calculate it, you were just careless.”
It was 1:30am and his eyelids felt heavy but you were still helping him with his work as if you’d just arrived at his house not a few minutes ago when, in reality, you’d been here for nearly 7 hours. Kageyama’s brain felt fuzzy from exhaustion and yet he found himself hanging onto your every word, absorbing as much information as he could—it was the least he could do.
“Honestly,” you said out of the blue as he reworked the equation, “I think you’ll be getting mostly Bs and some As by graduation.” You smiled like it was solely his own effort; as if it wasn’t you who agreed to tutor him for free, coming by his house and sleeping over when it got too late to go home. You looked at him with your tired eyes and messy hair with such pride that Kageyama himself was nearly deluded into thinking he put in nearly as much effort as you did explaining concepts and breaking down questions in ways he could easily understand.
That night, in that exact moment, his chest swelled with an overwhelming sense of adoration and gratitude and yet all he could do was glance down at the scattered papers on his bedroom floor and mutter a soft, “thank you”.
[11:32AM] (Y/N): i’m a few minutes away! sorry for being late D:
[11:32AM] Tobio: okay :) no worries, i haven’t been here long anyways
It’s easy to lie a little sometimes, though he struggles with it when it comes to you. Kageyama feels—knows—that he owes at least that much to you; to always tell you the truth. So, instead, he twists his own truth so that the words he says or the messages he sends you are never dishonest.
He’s been in this cafe for nearly half an hour. Some might say that’s a long wait, hell, he would say it’s a long wait had it been for anyone else. However, for you, he’d actually arrived twenty minutes early in order to get that one spot you used to love so much when you were still in Karasuno together.
Kageyama has been waiting for thirty minutes but twenty were his own and ten were for you. So, no, he didn’t lie. He hasn’t been waiting long at all.
Ten minutes is nothing compared to the one year he’d spent away from you, after all.
“Are you sure you won’t miss me?” you joked, voice lighthearted as always whenever you weren’t to be taken seriously—he knew that—and yet, when your question prodded at his heart in ways he did not expect, his reaction came out far more aggressive than he’d intended it to be.
“No, why will I? I’m finally achieving my dreams. I don’t need you to be there to hold my hand.”
The moment the words slipped out of his mouth, Kageyama wanted nothing more than to take them back, to swallow them whole and leave them away from you, festering inside his soul. The guilt and shame ran down his spine from the back of his neck, burning hot as the sensation spread across his skin, leaving goosebumps in its wake.
Staring at his half-packed luggage, he didn’t need to look at you to know how hurt you were by his reply. He didn’t have to steal a glance of your face to have known exactly what expression you had on—it was the worst kind. The teary eyes and shaky frown; it was the exact same kind of face that, in the past, had led him to throwing a couple of punches at the people who’d caused you to make it.
If he could have punched himself to make it up to you, he would’ve.
Instead, Kageyama allowed a silence to fall over the room and you, as always, since the very beginning of your friendship, broke it for him.
“I was kidding, y’know?” you laughed and he played along, heart still pounding from the terrifying aspect of losing you. He thought that if he just followed your lead and pretended that things were okay, they would become okay. But even then, he knew that wasn’t going to be the case.
The day after, when he was to leave Miyagi for Tokyo for a year to train with the Schweiden Adlers, you didn’t show up to bid him farewell like you said you would. Instead, you dropped him a text apologising for your absence and wishing him all the best.
Since then, you’ve had regular video calls with him once he’d settled down in the big city with his new team. Kageyama had apologised for his words during your first call—having found it much, much easier to do so when you weren’t physically together, and you happily forgave him. He knows you aren’t, and have never been, the petty kind but part him wishes you hadn’t so easily accepted his apology when it was so long overdue.
“Hi, Tobio!” you greeted, slightly out of breath, as you took the seat opposite him, your sudden presence sending his brain into haywire. He’d spent countless nights imagining how this reunion would feel after a year of not seeing you in the flesh but now as he’s living this moment, he realises none of the numerous scenarios he played in his head can do this feeling justice.
He feels his face start to heat up as his heart pounds loudly within the confines of his chest, the thumping pulse sounding so clear in his head that he genuinely worries you might be able to hear it, too, despite being an arm’s length away. Kageyama feels himself begin to sweat in spite of the cold weather. His eyes dart down to the half-filled mug in his hands as he presses his palms against its curved, cooling surface.
“Oh, wow, are you sure you didn’t wait long?” you laughed lightly, looking at the contents of his cup. He practically feels his blush deepening at the thought of being caught redhanded for his white lie. “So, how’ve you been?”
Kageyama responds accordingly, sharing his experiences with the Schweiden Adlers and adjusting to life in Tokyo. You, in return, talk about a new apartment you’re renting with your cousin and the classes you’re teaching as a part-time substitute in Karasuno while you ponder over what to pursue as a proper career.
Conversation with one another comes surprisingly easy to the both of you. Though neither of you admit it out loud, it feels as though you haven’t been separated for twelve straight months. You chat for hours, sometimes getting a little too loud and worked up, much to the chagrin of the other customers. Slowly but naturally, the topics eventually begin to run out and you opt to sit in silence for a bit, eating your respective lunches as you people-watch.
Kageyama checks his phone and realises he needs to leave soon if he were to make it to the stadium in time to meet his teammates. The Adlers are playing a casual match against a local university team in the evening due to the two coaches being alumni or something along those lines. It’s the only reason why he’s returned to Miyagi for a short bit—
He looks at you as you gaze out the window, a content smile on your face.
—it’s the only reason…
… Right?
“No, why will I? I’m finally achieving my dreams. I don’t need you to be there to hold my hand.”
The words from his past echo in his head, piercing his heart with the same intense guilt and shame from all those months ago when he first uttered those words out of impulse born from his insistence on denying the truth of your relationship.
It’s then you look at him curiously, as if sensing the distress he’s suddenly placed himself in. You part your lips, undoubtedly to ask if he’s okay, but before you can speak, his large, warm hands reach out to engulf your own. Taped fingers and calloused palms grip at your hands firmly, holding onto you as if letting go meant never seeing you again.
“(Y/N), I love you.” he declares, staring straight into your widening eyes. The desire to look away is almost too strong to resist but he pushes himself to maintain the contact, not allowing himself to repeat his past mistakes. “While I was away, I’ve come to realise how much you truly mean to me. You have always been an important person in my life but I’ve never had the courage to tell you. I even hurt you before I left and I still haven’t forgiven myself for that even though you have.
“To be honest, while I’ll always be grateful for it, I do not need you to hold my hand as you’ve done when we were growing up,” he continues, not giving you any chance to get a word in (not that you want to yet, anyway), “but I do want you in my life. I know it’s selfish of me to ask you to be with me as I achieve my dreams but maybe, if we’re together, I can support you in discovering what you would like to pursue as well.”
He takes a deep breath, face tinted red as he tightens his grip on your hands.
“What I’m saying is… will you… do you…” Kageyama’s eyes begin to flicker towards the table and away from your face. But when you pull your hands out of his just to grab them once more and give them a reassuring squeeze, his head freezes in place, eyes staring intently into your own teary ones.
You reply, saying exactly what’s on his mind, word-for-word, “I love you and I’d love to live with you in Tokyo.”

Aye let’s start this!
Tumblr media
Mai Zenin.
I love Jujutsu Kaisen. It’s has a great story, great characters, and memorable lessons presented in a light humored way but can turn dark and serious when it needs to. And it does.
Spoilers for the Manga and show down below!
Mai Zenin, while being a character who I am legit in love with, is also one of my favorites. When I first saw her, I was like “HOLY CRAP! SHE’s HOT!”. She was your basic bitch and I was like “damn, that sucks, not really my type.” But then... I read the manga.
My heart goes out to Mai so much. I have four older sisters and sister relationships can be messy at best and well... Maki/Mai’s at worst. But first, I guess I will talk about the conversation between Momo and Nobara. The conversation really focuses on the gender roles in the Jujutsu world, in Momo’s words, girls are ‘expected to be perfect’. It makes sense, considering Master Tengen began preaching the foundation of the Jujutsu World in the Nara Period (710-794). Women wouldn’t have had any progressive status in the time of the begining of the Jujutsu World and women would still face disadvantages in 2018 due to being women.

Another Aspect of the Jujutsu Society to keep in mind, is their strict definition of strength. In the Zenin Clan, any special technique is admired and loved. Momo talks about how this. There is no love in the Zenin Family unless you have a special technique. Something I love Momo did was she talked about Mai AND Maki. Nobara has a very black and white view on the Mai/Maki situation which is something that really hits me in the wrong way and I hope it’s something she grows out of (if she lives 😳, and maybe she did but I haven’t read the older chapters of the manga in a while). This conversations gives a lot of insight on how other people view the Mai/Maki situation and the kind of friendships Mai makes. Momo defends her because she knows what her friend went through. The whole dynamic between the Kyoto students is absolutely amazing and I love how the new Juju Strolls really show parts of it.
Now on to the big part: the flashback!
“I never wanted to be a jujutsu sorcerer!” Mai, who when first introduced acts all high and mighty over Maki about being a jujutsu sorcerer, never wanted to be one.

This statement really just... it says a lot about who Mai is. Mai doesn’t want to do what she is doing. Mai doesn’t want to live the life she’s living. If Maki didn’t follow her ambition, nothing would have been expected of her and she could live a life as a servant. I personally don’t think she would have been happy serving the Zenin Family, and totally deserves to get a life outside of the Jujutsu World as a whole. In the most recent chapter, it’s stated that Mai “doesn’t belong here”.

Mai was raised in a household of no love and got comfort from her sister who she believed in more than anything. Mai was scared of curses and Maki held her hand so she would be able to walk passed them with closed eyes. But then Maki challenged the head of the clan. Mai was used against Maki in a way. The way these panels is set up is amazing because of the fact that it goes from Maki saying “She has nothing to do with this!” To Mai saying “liar.”

Neither of them are at fault for the strain their relationship. They lived in a bad situation and ended up being divided rather than United. I don’t think Mai truly hates Maki in the way that she shouted and I honestly am both nervous and excited to see Mai’s reaction to the fact that Maki’s status in the current arc/new arc of the manga is unknown. Mai doesn’t really hate Maki but rather resents her because Maki is a reminder of a broken promise and is seen, by Mai, as the reason why she has to live a life she doesn’t want to.
Mai is honestly a really minor character in the story, and I really hope she gets more. I hope she survives the story and gets to leave the Jujutsu world and try to find out what she wants to do. Your life is your life and you should get to decide how to live it. No one’s expectations, rules, or requirements should determine that.

I also wanted to add how this information about Mai led me to watching Episode 8 in a whole new light. Mai is obviously confident in herself, but her tough demeanor and cocky attutude toward Maki in terms of Jujutus skill isn’t as authentic. Mai is, without a doubt, a huge softie. I always keep on thinking about how Mai was scared of curses when she was little and how that might affect how she does her missions and maybe how she views Itadori as Sukuna’s vessel. Sukuna is the worse of the worse and Mai was terrified of the smallest of the small in her childhood. That part, is more or less, my interpretation after rewatching it. Of course, the Itadori as Sukuna’s vessel is this whole thing because of the fact that prior to the exchange event, The Kyoto students never got the chance to know the person behind the title of the Vessel.
Yes this is all basic information. But I really just need to rant about how much I love Mai’s Character and there isn’t enough Mai content. So... Mai Headcanons and X Fem!Reader are defiantly coming!

Thanks for sticking around!
