“They notice what’s there: stars and the sun and the occasional comet or falling star. They do not notice what’s missing.
“But then, how can they? Who misses what they have never, ever even imagined? That would not be human nature. How fortunate, then, that there are more people in this world than just humankind.”
That’s a whole new level of creepy. (Where the fuck is the moon?)

“But there are none so frightened, or so strange in their fear, as conquerors. They conjure phantoms endlessly, terrified that their victims will someday do back what was done to them—even if, in truth, their victims couldn’t care less about such pettiness and have moved on. Conquerors live in dread of the day when they are shown to be, not superior, but simply lucky.”

Round 2 Part 3 Poll 2

Propaganda
Ok so Leo’s basically a mechanic who built the Argo II (he also has a flying mechanical dragon that he fixed named Festus who was then destroyed for a while but that’s not important here) and is pretty much the only one who can fly it (there’s one other person, but he’s still the usual pilot). Also, the ship eventually turns back into the sentient flying dragon, which is pretty neat.
Innon’s got a fun polycule going on

Have been blitzing through The Broken Earthtrilogy by N.K. Jemisin and may I just say this woman is a fucking powerhouse of a writer. Rarely have I been so upset at characters without wanting to stop reading. Like, I'm mad at them as people, while being totally engrossed in the story. GRIPPING.

It is so easy to have principles. Far, far harder to live by them.

Manny: Neek is playing hard to get…
Manny: But it’s okay. Good thing I’m really hard to get rid of.
Neek (later in confessional): I’m only playing hard to get because pretty boy likes a challenge. He thinks he’s seducing me, but I’m seducing him.

N. K. Jemisin is a hugely decorated science fiction author, known for being the first author to win the Hugo Award for best novel three years in a row. Her current series, The City We Became, features personifications of cities, but she was 37 in 2009, well out of the target demo, so it probably wasn't inspired by that anime.
They're hard of hearing, they wear colors on the red-purple spectrum and they're teaming up to take down the competition! After tying in the last round, Red vs. Blue's Donut and Marvel Comic's Hawkeye are now a team up for the ages! With their powers combined, maybe they can take down Kirk.
