I became a Larry in early 2020 after seeing a video on Instagram and then swiftly falling down the rabbit hole. Since then I have fallen in love with 1D, H and L’s music specifically, the romance story that is Larry Stylinson and the amazing group of people I’ve met because of them.

I’m a non binary and queer and having this little obsession has brought me so much joy and peace. I personally really relate to H and his music and overall story. I think a lot of gender queer folks can connect with him in many different ways, I know I have.

Part of this blog will be my own takes on H’s gender because I think it’s really important to acknowledge his queercoding within his art. People point it out regarding his sexuality but ignore it when it comes to his gender and I wanna shed some light on that. I’ll also talk about Larry and all the fluffy moments we’ve been so privileged to see.

I write a lot of poetry and music so I’ll also be sharing my poems and maybe random lyrics or could be lyrics. Writing has been a saving grace when it comes to self expression, especially regarding my own gender identity and navigation it. That being said, I am very open about my gender nonconformity and I will not tolerate any transphobia on here. This includes any hate towards H. I use they/them pronouns and am proudly non binary!

Not really, they haven’t dated that much

He’s very much the first move guy, very gentle though, just letting the other know where his head is at and leave it to the other come meet him halfway

Very much so, big, small, any, the though that someone saw something and though of him is enough

Sure, before Radu he had crushes on some of the bar regulars he used to see, he’s a loving man who can blame him

He flirts sure, but only when he’s sure the other party is enjoying it, it’s a two way thing, likes being flirted at too

When they tried to get Moran’s attention, all is allowed, would be very into Moran flirting with them

One person at a time, that’s why when waiting for Radu for half a year he didn’t go see anyone else

He’s very physically affectionate, he writes songs and poems for his beau, he’s a good listener and like I’ve said, he’ll meet the other halfway

Very attentive and sweet, checks up on Moran and makes sure they’re taking care of themselves, makes them food and packs snacks for their trips, likes taking care of them

Not really, sometimes he used to but he’s not that person anymore

Medium, Radu may not have many family/friends but Aaron’s entire extended family will be there

Hi, I'm looking for a fic i read a while back. It was a collage au and i think neil and andrew were roommates. Neil was like an art student and andrew was something to do with writing. Andrew does slam poetry and reads a poem that he wrote about Neil in a competition and neil is there to watch. Im sorry if it doesn't make sense and thanks if you manage to find it!!

Linguistic Diversity Challenge Day 3: Lak

What is the language called in English and the language itself?

The language is called Lak in English and лакку маз‎ (lakku maz) in the language itself.

Where is the language spoken?

It is mostly spoken in the Dagestan Republic of Russia, but some speakers also live in Azerbaijan and Georgia.

How many people speak the language?

About 154,000 people speak the language.

Which language family does it belong to? What are some of its relative languages?

Lak belongs to the Northeast Caucasian languages. The classification of where it belongs in the family seems to be a matter for debate. I have included Friedman’s classification from 2007. Chechen is possibly the most known language of the family.

Lak itself has several dialects, of which Arakul, Bartkhi, Kayali, Kumukh, Mits'qi, Shadni, Shali, Ts'uwk'ul, & Wikhli are some of them.

What writing system does it use?

It is written in Cyrillic script as shown by the following poem excerpt of Вай яру вих бакъа by Ххалла.

What kind of grammatical features does the language have?

Lak has four noun classes and nouns have four stems. Case endings attach agglutinatively to the oblique stem. The three core cases are nominative, genitive, and dative, in addition to several secondary cases and affixes. Lak has verbal agreement for person. Any part of speech can take class agreement markers, which are prefixed, infixed, and/or suffixed. Lak is basically object-verb, attributive/genitive-head; it has pragmatically conditioned free word order and a mixed ergative/accusative system. Lak has five sets of deictics, which also serve as third-person markers. The verb has three aspectual stems, perfective/ unmarked, durative in -la-, and iterative in -awa-.

What does the language sound like?

Consonants: Lak has over 40 consonants, some of which are found only in some dialects. I highly recommend reading Anderson’s chapter on Lak phonology as it goes into much further detail than I can provide.

Vowels: Lak has 5 vowels which can be pharyngealized.

What do you personally find interesting about the language?

Initially, I was drawn to the language because of the large number of consonants. The more I read about the language, the more overwhelmed I became. I think it is interesting that word formation in Lak is dominated by both compounding and derivation. Another thing I found interesting is the debate over how many cases Lak has. Some people claim it has 40-50 cases, which reminds me of The great Tsez case hoax in which one must define what a case is. Bringing me to my unpopular opinion that being afraid of languages with many cases is just weak.

Sword and Pen Reread, chapter 12

Juicy, juicy Khalila/Dario stuff here. But my focus remains on Morgan, Wolfe, Santi, and worldbuilding. Really.

Some foreshadowing of Nobel’s device in the ephemera. Only the Archivist gets to control it, not even the Lord Commander - that’s going to be a problem later. It’s a threat, but one he says they would never plan to actually use. Parallels with nuclear weapons, I think.

Nobel says that the French rebellion inspired him to think of this. Nobel lived from 1833-1896, so that gives us a possible range of dates for when things started getting bad in France. Obviously that wasn’t the end of it, since we have indications that the ex-Archivist was involved in bad shit in France, too. France has potentially been a mess for almost 200 years.

@thegreatlibraryfangirl, I want to see you pick this stuff apart. So much good K/D.

Dario is an absolute wreck here. Desperate, needy, craving affection, struggling not to cry. The betrayal mission really hurt him. Is it just that? Or is this piled on weight from the other betrayals too?

That “No, let’s not talk about what happened, let’s talk about getting married” transition. Dario is convinced he’s a terrible person, and he wants commitment from Khalila as reassurance that even though he’s horrible, she won’t leave him.

This is about the third time Dario has proposed. He doesn’t think Khalila has taken him seriously yet - how many off-page conversations on this topic are we missing?

More Khalila-Morgan parallels: taking care of their reckless found family and partners. This time, it’s Khalila trying to get Dario to eat and rest.

Dario has “wavy black hair”. All I’m saying is that it’s very possible that it’s wavy when short but would grow out into curls.

“Are you suggesting that I am not a gentleman?” “Never. But you certainly pretend not to be one to everyone else.” This isn’t just about Dario making sexual advances. This is Khalila reassuring Dario that she knows he’s a good person, which he really needs.

Dario questions whether the terrible things they do are worth it. Khalila assures him that they have to be. This seems like it will be relevant later when thinking about how they process the stabbing and Morgan’s death.

Thanks to Maz, I now know that stormy weather in Alexandria is normal for winter. More support for my timeline speculation that it’s November-ish, yay.

Murasaki is worried about the Archives. She would know about Nobel’s device by now. She wants an alternative. She puts Khalila to work contacting the Curia to find solutions. This is where Khalila and Morgan start scheming to copy the Archives, I suspect - Eskander has already been shot by this point, so Morgan is taking on more responsibilities in the Iron Tower. Who’s answering messages directed to the Obscurist Magnus? Eskander or Morgan?

Murasaki is willing to consider printing, but she also teases Khalila about being a heretic. She’s a drastic improvement over the old Archivist, but as progressive as she wants to be, her way of thinking is very much defined by the Library’s dogma. Could she have changed things? We’ll never know. But probably not as dramatically or as quickly as Khalila.

This teasing about heresy, though... Wolfe could never tolerate that. More reasons why he’s not going to be comfortable with a leadership position in the Library.

“That woke a wild streak of hope inside Khalila, a feeling that the world was, at last, cracking open. Changing into something new.” Probably not an intentional reference, but... revolution? Cracking the world open? Where have I heard that before...

Dario is on Murasaki’s list of trusted people. Murasaki says it’s just because of Khalila, but I wonder if Santi also had some influence there.

“The French had already broken off and sailed toward Tripoli. The Japanese were turning toward home.” Is this the first we’ve heard of the French being there? (I’m terrible with remembering stuff like this.) The way this is written, it sounds like the French and Japanese might be going in different directions - evidence that Japan took the canal route to Alexandria?

Here are Khalila and Dario looking to Morgan to save them from a threat that is on fire. More foreshadowing.

Khalila apparently has lots of knife throwing practice. “She had practiced this motion so many times as a child, as a young woman” and she hits the assassin right in the eye. Have fun with that, Maz.

Khalila is very sure Wolfe won’t agree to be Archivist. Is this just from what she’s heard Santi say before?

Khalila reads Japanese. Probably fairly well. The poem is in kanji. (Other possibility would be that she reads Chinese, since kanji originated in Chinese and there’s overlap in meanings, but I’m kind of assuming that would be harder, and we’ve already had a probable case of Khalila reading Japanese back in Smoke and Iron.)

Coming full circle here: Khalila gained Murasaki’s trust in part by talking about how she read poems by an ancestor of Murasaki’s from the Black Archives. Now Khalila sees Murasaki write her death poem.

Murasaki’s last request is to get Wolfe to be Archivist. She says he’s the only one she trusts. Why Wolfe? Because of his role in this revolution? Because of pre-canon friendship? She seemed to have a favorable opinion of him in Smoke and Iron, too.

how bad is this right

so I have a composition due in tomorrow at uni, it’s for three a capella female voices, and when I started looking for a text to use a month ago I picked a very morbid poem by Margaret Atwood all to do with the concept of dying and the prospect of the end of an individual person’s existence (cheery I know)

I kind of started writing it in a very sensationalist, morbid way as it’s a p strong message you can convey in a piece, but the irony on me is that over the course of this week a very close family friend died, and I’ve had to finish writing this pretty depressing piece of music that naive, sensationalist maz began (but this is just something I brought on myself lmao)

I’m currently writing up the rationale for the piece, which is a short essay detailing why you’re justifying certain compositional decisions in relation to the meaning of the work- so I’m sat here writing about how the harmony, text setting, metre, register etc all relate back to d e a t h

the lecturer who will mark this is a babe, but she’s also my academic adviser, meaning she’s the contact I personally go to in the music department when I have an issue I’m dealing with, such as a bereavement. She was impressed to begin with that I’d managed to write any piece at all right now, but by fuck she’s gonna read this and listen to my recording, see how everything relates back to death in it and be like “wow is marion ok”

so that’s gonna be fun
