Drawing all the recent comic pages with Demeter and Hekate made me think of Margaret Wells and Nancy Birch from Harlots. They gave me big Demeter and Hekate vibes. Funnily enough, one of the plot lines of the first two seasons was actually loosely based on the Persephone myth.

I was very fond of Margaret, but Nancy was probably my favorite. Her clothes were absolutely fab.

This one really challenged me 😅 but I had a lot of fun and decided to do a modern AU Daisy

Personally, I headcanon Daisy as dressing quite prep in my modern AUs, because she's still masking. The one exception is her double piercing, which came about when Uncle Felix got her ears pierced in secret, which they both hid when Margaret decided to take Daisy to get her ears pierced the day after. Lady Hastings being oblivious as usual, she didn't notice that Daisy had 2 piercings in her ear until fhey got home

Harlots Review

This show has three seasons. I fell in love with the characters in season 1 and fell out of love by the beginning of season 3.

Season 1 and 2 were nice and fun.

Season 3 was a mess and suffered from an idiot plot.

This show was created, written, produced by women, and you can feel it. Let's have more of those.

not a fan of the “Charles and Charlotte are secretly biologically related” headcanon myself

but I indulge in the “Charles and Charlotte were kind of raised together at some point and Lydia would’ve dressed them in matching outfits and stuff” headcanon bc it’s cute and twisted and she’d eat that shit UP

I think Lydia probably suggested the name Charlotte anyway, and she would’ve been super nice to Margaret while she’s pregnant as a way to throw her off. Like calm before the storm.

And raising Charlotte kind of like her own in order to use her as leverage in case Margaret and Nancy were going against her.

Or all else fails, Margaret leaves the house with a little baby Charlotte who misses it, her “brother” but not quite, and old Miss Lydia comforting her.

(I do think Lydia is capable of love and genuinely loved or felt motherly affection for Charlotte… but that’s obviously not mutually exclusive with her desire to control everyone in her circle.)

I personally think it is categorically hilarious that Buck is seemingly gonna rock up to his sisters wedding with a boyfriend having not told his parents of this development in his life.

i can always tell when an author has a cat or has lived with cats. cats arent just There, they have a Presence. Characters stop and interact with the cat, and often, if there's danger, it's made very clear that the cat is okay, and i appreciate authors who have cats and put cats into their books so much you have no idea
