I feel like Ren and Martyn miss their Dogwarts days in different ways because it’s like… Ren missed what it was. Being king. Having a loyal right hand man. Having an army. Protecting his friends. Building a strong fortress. Having a purpose to fight for.

It’s like how Ren was so sad in his first days in Last Life because he was all alone, then went and dramatically declared his loyalty to the Fairy Queen Lizzie not unlike how Martyn declared his loyalty in Third Life. With the Fairy Fort, he had a faction to fight for, a queen to protect. He felt like he belonged somewhere. He liked building his watchtower, liked making the secret basement, liked organising meetings with his faction. He may not be King anymore, but he’s still furiously protecting his friends.

Then came Double Life. Ren was ecstatic that his soulbound was BigB (“best friends forever, baby!”) because they could belong to each other. Ren set up an intimidating fortress (“Box”) to protect them, not unlike Dogwarts’ walls. He desperately wanted things to work with BigB (even though he found a secret soulmate in Martyn), and even did marriage therapy with him. They were loyal to each other. Ren very much liked the idea of people being loyal to each other. Of course, he ended up tangled up with Martyn in every life anyway, because he provided him with what Ren liked. Loyalty, theatrics, and trust.

But Martyn? Martyn missed who it was.

Even in the Southernlands, Martyn always kept an eye out for Ren. He gave Ren netherwart, put out his fire, and for what? In Double Life, Martyn did kind of try to be allies with his soulbound, but he wasn’t very good at it. Martyn didn’t miss being loyal to a partner. He missed Ren. And while Mean Gills was more functional than DL Martyn and Cleo, Martyn still backstabbed (a willing) Scott in the end. And spent his entire red life with the Red Winter scarf around him. And monologued about being an unguided hand, how he cried so hard when Ren died it shattered his soul, and his last thoughts before he died was literally Ren at the altar.

So maybe Ren never left Dogwarts as a faction, an organisation, and home. But it was Martyn who truly never left Ren’s side. Ren missed having a home. Martyn missed Ren, because Ren was home.

Hello hello I gots some questions if you don’t mind

So we know some hybrids from different sub species that are in relationships like Lizzie and Joel and doc and etho but I was wondering if there were any specific sub species that only stay with their own type of sub species? And if there is, do or would they ever give others who are from the same sub species as them a glare if they saw a person from their same sub species in a relationship with a hybrid or mutant of different sub species? Example: Joel and Lizzie, would any of the cat hybrids ever do a double take on her being married to a butterfly hybrid? (I know they probably wouldn’t but this was for the sake of an example)

Is there a number in mind for how many different types of sub species are living in the under city? Or would it be like trying to count each specific m&m in a large bowl? Is there too many sub species to count or would you use a broad number like for example 1000 to get your point across?

Are there other new types of sub species you have in mind but haven’t talked about yet? (Ignore this question if it’s a large spoiler LMAO)

Are there any other sub species that have a bad reputation? I’m aware that creeper hybrids are know to be intimidating and most avoid them (at least I’m pretty sure) but are there any hybrids or mutants that when people learn what sub species they are they immediately hate and or dislike them? If so why or how did they get such a bad reputation?

Alrighty, let’s see what we’ve got! 🏃‍♀️

1. Not really, no, or at least, I never intend to explore that. I think the closest we might get are perhaps blaze-borns or warden mutants, both of whom are known for being very solitary and keeping to their own areas, not usually living in the main cavern, but I don’t think there would be any sort of dislike/unhappiness from anyone if someone of that subspecies dated/married outside of it. The under-city is big, yeah, but it’s not that big so it’s always been common practice for people to mix and match. It’s just been growing more common than ever thanks to how Doc and Etho’s work has been connecting the various levels of the city like never before!

2. I think the m&ms in a bowl allegory is the best…there’s a LOT of them, I don’t want to put any sort of number on it just for the sake of IRL reasons, which are that I do make up parts of this AU as I go along, and I’d hate to give myself some pre-determined boundary for how creative and crazy we can get with all of these hybrids/mutants…so let’s just say A LOT and leave it at that.

4. I think ‘bad’ reputation is the wrong way of putting it. No one necessarily has an immediate hatred for another based solely on subspecies. I mean, Ren and Lizzie are friends! And they’re literally a dog and a cat! But there are other sorts of reputations that can carry with someone’s subspecies. There’s Doc, of course, who we know is a sweetheart and a gentle giant but people are afraid of him because he’s nearly seven feet tall and terrifying-looking, that’s not his fault, though…and the augmentations aren’t exactly helping. 😭 We will also be learning more about dog hybrid clans with Ren, the deep dark with Cub, and blaze-born pyres with Tango, so through that I hope to show a bit more nuance in the traits and tendencies of all these various subspecies, because it is quite a lot of fun!

Trey would be concerned as to why you were so mature and spaced out a lot. He would probably be the first person to talk to about your family, the fire, Dr. Bumby, and Lizzie as you knew he would keep his mouth shut. He would be understandably horrified and try to be as much of help as he can.

He'd honestly like that you can be quiet when necessary but he doesn't like how much you talk back to him, only really find it funny when you do it to others. But he does ask for magic tips from you.

He, like Deuce, would be incredibly worried about you. He knows when something is wrong. Jack would be another good person to vent your frustration about Bumby and Lizzie to as he can give a good shoulder to cry on.

He figured out quickly that if you gained something from it, he could make you do anything he wanted. So you quickly became an errand runner with the twins and helped intimidate any business men or rogue customers.

Jade would find you entertaining and would love your dress and would somehow get you to join him in the kitchen as you literally have a pepper gun.

Would think your the funniest the thing ever, especially when you question him or Azul with sarcasm. He would also wanna hold your vorpal blade or teapot cannon and you would have to hide it to keep it from him.

He would be really happy to meet someone new and would be pretty oblivious over the scarier parts of you but would really enjoy the fact that you took care of kids at an orphanage and think you're a really caring person behind a cold shell.

Jamil is very cautious around you. He doesn't want you harming Kalim or anyone else with your weapons, even if it's your pepper gun. He eventually lightens up to you as he sees you're no threat and wants tips to run fast for his basketball team.

Appearance wise, it depends. If you travel to Twisted Wonderland in your London form- he would be horrified and immediately try to get you on a beauty routine. Growing up poor, you tell him you were never able to afford such luxuries. If you're in your Wonderland form, he thinks your pretty but he could help you be prettier. He doesn't like you talking back at all but it gives Epel and Rook some entertainment.

Rook

He would find you absolutely gorgeous and find any chance he can to just watch you in general. He likes your accent and weapons along side your stories about wonderland.

Epel

Epel loves it when you talk back to Vil, it's the funniest damn thing he's ever seen. But to avoid getting a lecture from Vil, he only snickers or snorts.

He would wonder how a human was capable of seeing wonderland and ,most importantly, going through everything with Bumby and the fire. Malleus would like your dark appearance and creative weapons though.

Lilia finds you interesting. He adores hearing about your messed up wonderland and your past. He loves your dresses and would definitely practice his aim with your tea cannon. Lilia also loves your sarcasm.

Sebek doesn't like you one bit. Your way of dress is strange to him, your weapons seem "useless in a real battle", and your attitude is something that makes steam come out of his ears. He's constantly lecturing you for spacing out or snapping back at him.

He likes you. If Lilia does, so does he but he really wants you to tell him how you do that butterfly teleporting thing.

He thinks your really pretty but he's really worried about you. Neige is another good guy you can trust with your thoughts and feelings. Neige, like Trey, would be horrified. so i saw this post and could only think of what tracks the rest of the traffic smp members would be in and what their palismen would be (in my opinion)! i’m also going to try and not make all the palisman birds and cats since those seem to be super common!

skizz, mumbo, and lizzie are all included but disclaimer! i do not know a lot about some of the others on here and my info for most of them is just from stuff that i’ve watched including stuff outside of the traffic smp! this is just for fun so enjoy!

• grian: abomination and oracle. i like the abomination wings he has in the art and i feel like being a watcher is just very oracle like. pesky bird palisman!

• scar: illusion, plant, and beastkeeping. i like that the art has him in the illusion track with his crystals and stuff (his shady businessman side) but also consider the fact that he is a tree elf in season 9 of hermitcraft (plant) and is always taking care of/wrangling some type of animal (the ravager, the charged creepers, the jellie pandas, etc.). jellie is his palisman ofc.

• jimmy: potions. i think i just have potions in my brain for him bc it’s the yellow track/coven and i associate jimmy with yellow. i can also see this funky little guy just mixing stuff up and half of the time making smth really cool and have no idea how he did it and the other half is just stuff blowing up. his palisman would either be a canary or a cod. i can’t decide lol

• tango: construction and abomination. he’s always doing/making something super cool and i feel like that’s what these tracks do. palisman is a phoenix. why? i like the fanarts where tango has firey hair and phoenixes are like always on fire and it would make a sick palisman.

• joel: illusion and construction. i like to imagine him as the matholomule of the mcyt universe as a whole. he’s kinda annoying and a jerk (affectionately) and is just a guy who wants a bit of chaos and is egotistical upfront. he has soooo many illusions! his best one is the one where he makes himself 11 feet tall! crazy! he’s also one of my favorite builders (hence the construction) but is not afraid to use his construction abilities to fight (provoked or unprovoked he will kill over the slightest things). his palisman is literally just a tiny shrek.

• etho: this one’s hard but i think he would like to study abomination magic. why? idk i didn’t know what to put etho in. he’s kinda a mysterious guy and i kinda like to think he would be just some neutral ground guy that shows up once in a while to either help or just blow stuff up. his palisman would be a polar bear bc i feel like it matches his aesthetic nicely.

• ren: bard. i mean the guy is very theatrical and his instrument/weapon would be a lute. his palisman would be a husky bc it’s gotta be a dog and i think that’s his favorite breed?

• bigb: healing? idk i don’t really know much about bigb other than the fact that he really likes cookies and grian loves him. i think it’s only fair that his palisman is some sort of cookie that comes alive when off the staff.

• martyn: plant and oracle. watcher lore type stuff and inthelittleWOOD thanks to @booisghost for the plant track suggestion! his palisman would be a song bird also thanks to the person above! (sorry this one’s lame i don’t watch martyn)

• cleo: oracle. they look undead when you use them and theyre powerful. that’s all she needed to know when deciding what type of magic she wanted to study. her palisman would be a king cobra because snakes are badass, intimidating, she made a snake base and her season 9 hair is made of snakes

• impulse: healing and potions. yeah the man may like some chaos once in a while but he’s just a gentle boi and would gladly heal injured ppl. potions are simply for the chaos side and maybe how the concoctions in the season 8 candy factory were made. his palisman is a buffalo.

• bdubs: plant. he moss boi. the scrunkly scrimblo. his palisman is a moon or redstone clock that comes alive when off the staff (kinda like bigb’s) and it has to be very cartoonish with big eyes that match his so they both just look at you like 👁👁 all of the time

• scott: bard and plant. i’ve got a deeaaal with destiny and flower husbands. i also think he would use a flute. that’s all the explanation you’re getting. i have so many ideas for what his palisman would be but i narrowed it down to either a stag or a llama.

• pearl: plant and beastkeeping. plant = for empires farm girl. beastkeeping is because of her love for tilly/aliens/dragons. her palisman is some funky alien creature that is upside down for some reason (if you could even really tell). nobody knows what it is, including her but she loves it with all her heart. she doesn’t know what it is bc she found it in the woods one day and it turned into a staff for her and she was like “lol ok i guess this is mine now”

• skizz: construction. don’t know much about the guy but he seems like he would be good for the construction track/coven simply based off of vibes. i think it would be cool of him to have a black bear palisman.

• mumbo: abomination. i think he would kinda be like alador bc in my mind his redstone contraptions are like the abomatons. i would do smth with the end crystals but idk what type of magic that would be so yeah. i honestly don’t know what his palisman would be but it would definitely have a mustache.

• lizzie: bard, illusion, and oracle. we all know that lizzie is musically talented and she could use that to her advantage during fights and her music weapon of choice would be a trumpet. she’s also very crafty so i could see her using illusions too (maybe even her empires 2 skin is an illusion but she’s not strong enough to make it complete at all times). she’s also in the oracle track because she thought it was cool and why not? her palisman is an axolotl or a fox.

This was a terrible idea. Lizzie had voiced as much when Chip suggested it, wiggling his eyebrows and nudging her shoulder at least five times.

But Jay had overheard him and gotten far too excited, and here Elizabeth Lafayette, Captain of the Grandberry Pirates, leader of the anti-Navy war effort was: Standing in front of a dilapidated building labeled in large, bold letters as "The Harrowing Halls of Haunting Horrors". The alliteration didn't make it very intimidating, but -- and here she sighed, and looked over at her girlfriend next to her -- Jay looked positively ecstatic.

Chip was lucky he'd managed to find some excuse to meet them at the end of the whole thing. She really wanted to kick his ass right about now.

Instead, rolling her eyes, she nudged Jay's shoulder and attempted to start some conversation. "Why do you even like haunted houses? Don't we see way scarier shit all the time?"

Jay stopped in her tracks, turning to glare at her. "Okay-- first of all, I'm going to take that as a genuine question and not a diss at what is literally one of the best forms of entertainment. Secondly; yeah? So? It's fun! People jump out around you, and you don't even have to worry about getting hurt!"

Lizzie shrugged. "I'd much rather just get to punch them."

"If you do that we'll get kicked out, so don't, actually. Look, if you're scared, we can--"

"I'm not scared!"

Jay stared at her. Lizzie stared back, defiant.

A slow grin spread across Jay's face. "Awesome. So let's go!"

Before Lizzie could process any of the next few seconds, Jay grabbed her hand, tossed a security guard a few silvers, and pulled her through the door and into the building.

And here was where the trouble started. For one, Jay didn't let go of her hand, and Lizzie was fighting not to either crush it in terror at the first zombie that jumped out -- she decidedly did not like dealing with creatures that literally fell apart at the seams -- or let go of her hand and bolt the other direction. Jay was also giggling the whole way, and absolutely not defending Lizzie in any capacity.

A few minutes in, Jay started commentating on the whole experience. "And this one makes a run! He swings! He misses! Huge loss for the bloodied gnome with no left arm!"

Lizzie, for her part, took it upon herself to add additional theories. "And where the fuck might he have lost that arm? I personally think a previous guest might have taken it! Damn intruders!"

Jay laughed, knocking into her and stumbling.

It was getting better. The headless creatures and the mummies running at them weren't as terrifying. They'd both seen worse.

She wouldn't have usually signed up to be scared, jumped out at, or see bloody body parts hanging around, but as she fought down too many screams to count, she heard Jay laughing with her, yelling, and talking over the noise. She let herself enjoy the chaos just a bit. The whole "suspension of disbelief" stuff was growing on her.

And despite herself, despite the growling and yelling of the things in the house... Lizzie found herself smiling. It was going well, really. Jay was enjoying herself, the flickering lights had calmed a bit, and they were halfway through, stepping out of the first building. It could only get better!

…At least, until Lizzie looked up at the label on the next portion. It included a bunch of vines and branches angling over one another in an arch, yellow leaves spelling out "Clown Clearing".

Lizzie was absolutely, 100%, not afraid of clowns. At all. They did not frighten, terrify, or cause her to panic in any way. And she was not frozen right outside of the entrance of "Clown Clearing" -- the alliteration was not helping -- trying to convince herself to go in.

Jay, unfortunately, caught on pretty quickly. "Hey, what's the stop? Need to-- oh, hey, hello?" She waved her hand in Lizzie's face.

Lizzie shook out of her trance. "My bad. Yeah, just... catching my breath." She snuck a few glances at the sign again. Chip was waiting for them at the exit of it all. She thought of what he would say if he found out she hadn't gone into the damn clown zone.

Jay caught on. "Right. Sure. Hey, if you're tired we can go grab some cotton candy or something, or--"

Lizzie shook her head, violently. She stood up. She marched forward. She was going to get through this. (Chip was not going to hear about this). She was going to face her fears, and save her pride. She could face this one house.

Jay ran after her, catching up quickly. "You sure about this?"

Lizzie nodded, silently.

"Oookay. Let's fucking do this, then! Man, this brings back memories." Refusing to elaborate, Jay walked through the arch. Lizzie walked at her side, tossing an additional silver to the next guard.

A clown immediately jumped out at them. Jay politely ignored Lizzie's scream.

After three other clowns also decided to jump out, Lizzie went running. She sprinted between the trees as painted faces yelled, waved, and grabbed at the trail, one even giving chase for a few dozen meters.

Jay sighed and resolved to run after her, catching up after a minute. "Hey!" She yelled. "This is literally the opposite of how this works! Do you want to slow down for just a second? Holy shit!"

Lizzie slowed her pace slightly to jump over a decapitated clown head. "The faster I run the less clowns I see! It's a win-win situation!"

"This is meant to be fun, dude!" Jay called, dodging a tree covered in blood.

Lizzie nodded, whipping through the underbrush and around a bend. "It is! We're racing!"

"Are we really going to do this the whole fucking way?!"

"Hey, why the fuck not!" Lizzie bolted ahead, ducking under a clown wig on a pike.

Jay slowed slightly, trying to catch her breath. "Okay. Sure, yeah, why the fuck not?"

A clown jumped out. She waved at it, then sprinted forward again.

Recently rewatched “Thronecoming”. In this house we love and respect Briar’s character development! And Raven and Apple’s. Like, Apple calls Milton out on tricking Raven and now believes that - even if she still ultimately believes that the Rebel movement should end, and bad things will come of it continuing as it is - Raven and her fellow Rebels should come to that conclusion on their own. In other words, she told Milton, the fanatical enforcer of her cause, that he was making the Royals look bad! Back at the start she worshipped him. And Raven being elected Thronecoming Queen shows how much support she and the Rebels have gained, a stark contrast again to the beginning of Chapter One when everyone despised her. I only wish one of the girls or Giles could have punched Milton very hard. Or Milton at least said sorry for what he did to Giles. He was completely in the wrong in their conflict and he never even admitted it! But overall a great episode.

Also, I’ve noticed a theme throughout Chapter Two of Royals questioning their destinies or reevaluating how they interpret them. Ashlynn openly declares herself a Rebel and later says she wishes she hadn’t signed so she can have a true happily ever after with the person she loves. Blondie wonders if wanting to be and appear a more official and prestigious lowercase-R royal makes her less of a capital-R Royal because she wants more than her inherited station has given her. Royal Holly and ‘Roybel’ Poppy both secretly become Rebels when they agree to ignore their birth order to live the lives they want. Lizzie realizes acting haughty, temperamental and intimidating actually just makes her lonely and miserable, and decides she may still intend to be the next Queen of Hearts, but she doesn’t have to be as cruel as her mother out of the story (literally rearranging the words of her mother’s instructions like how the Rebels always talk about “rewriting”). Finally, Briar not only rebels against her own destiny and the notion of herself as a shallow party girl she’s projected to cope with it, but commits one of the greatest acts of defiance against the legacy system in the series by trying to permanently dispose of the real Storybook of Legends.

This image in the intro is meant to show the major side characters on each side of the debate, right? But by the end of Chapter Two, all the supposed Royals here have at least flirted with, at most explicitly chosen rebellion! Kinda demonstrates the points that the Rebels are objectively right and that Apple staying so resistant to change really isn’t good for her, and will probably leave her feeling alone, insecure, vulnerable… maybe so afraid she, I dunno… frees the greatest evil Ever After has ever known in an emotional breakdown or something…

When the clock struck six in the morning, Jane was asleep while Y/N changed. She was putting on her ocean blue dress, the same as always. While it did fit a little tight, it was the only one that fit: Her other three dresses had been transformed into various pieces of clothing for Jane.

Y/N looked at herself in the mirror while combing her hair. Her tiredness was strongly evident on her face and her body was heavy. She looked at the pressed powder and the single red lipstick, now nearly empty, on her dresser. The small amount of makeup she had, she had saved it for a day like today. Then it was decided: it was a matter of life or death, literally. She used a little bit of powder and with, her ring finger, she painted her lips red and then stained her cheeks pink. She tied her hair as best as she could and smiled. Today everything would change.

"Good morning, Stella" greeted Y/N, sitting at the table in the private room, where the prostitutes had breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Stella pursed her lips, Y/N was determined to death that it would work, whatever the circumstance. She helped with the cleaning in that hellhole, but it was not enough. It wasn't that Stella didn't want to give her more money, it was that she couldn't. Many of the prostitutes had left work, leaving the brothel with only five women: Stella, Y/N, Anna, Sarah, and little Jane.

They finished their breakfast in silence, Stella was not angry, she was worried to death. What if the Shelbys hurt Y/N? What about Jane? What if she didn't get the job?

"Well" said Y/N, bundling up to leave "Wish me luck." Y/N yelled at Stella from the doorway, having already greeted Jane and Stella in the kitchen.

"Y/N! Wait!" Stella warned, approaching her with Jane in her arms "I..." she sighed "Don't leave without Thomas fucking Shelby giving you a job, eh?" Stella smiled and Y/N hugged her.

The drive to the Shelby Limited Company office was cold. The weather and her nerves made her nauseous. With what excuse would she explain to Tommy Shelby the rumor she had heard? The path seemed longer than it really was, the little snow on the ground scared her. She didn't want to fall.

After about five minutes, she arrived at the company. The tall black door intimidated her. Was it a good idea to come? She wasn't sure, but she would find out. She knocked on the door with a nervous hand, she was freezing without gloves.

"Yes?" asked a woman with a serious look on her face.

“Hello ma'am, my name is Y/N. I would need to speak to Thomas Shelby, is he available? "

Y/N's delicate smile only hardened the woman's gaze.

"Come with me."

The woman let Y/N through, closing the door behind her.

“You will refer to Thomas as Mr. Shelby. If he offers you a whiskey, you accept. If he invites you for a cigarette, you accept. If he asks you to leave, you leave." She stopped in front of a glass door, turning to look Y/N in the eye "Got it?" Y/N nodded nervously.

The lady knocked on the door and walked in, leaving Y/N alone, outside Thomas Shelby's office. She stared curiously at the gold letter on the door that bore his name. The lady came out again and spoke to her.

"Mr. Shelby will see you now."

The woman did not open the door for him, leaving it closed and walking away. With a knot in her stomach, Y/N knocked on the door.

"Come in!" was heard. Y/N's shaking hands turned the doorknob, revealing Tommy Shelby standing with his back to her, then watching him turn with two drinks in hand.

"Excuse me, Mr..." Tommy sighed in frustration.

"If I hear you say Mr. Shelby, I’ll throw you out with Ophelia, Miss Y/N." his tone of voice was so monotonous that it surprised the girl, everything that was said d e he was true "You can call me Tommy."

"Okay, Tommy..." Y/N smiled softly, as Tommy handed her the Whiskey "Excuse me, I know what Ophelia said about not denying you a Whiskey, but I can't drink. I have a baby…” Y/N braced herself for Tommy's contemptuous look and some comment. But it never arrived.

"Oh, don't worry. Water?" he asked, Y/N denied. Nerves were consuming her.

"What brings you here, Miss Y/N?" Tommy asked, sitting down in her chair.

“Tommy, I’m sorry for being so… direct. I am friends with Anna Preston. As you well know, Anna is a friend of Lizzie and… I think you already know what I'm here for. "Y/N..." Tommy spoke again, Y/N's nerves continued to interrupt him.

“And I will not pay attention to any of your workers, I will not be distracted by men. I just…” Y/N's body froze, begging for air. Y/N breathed "I just need to keep my daughter alive."

Tommy watched her. He saw the weariness on her face, her despair, and her dress pressing against her body.

"What is your daughter's name, Miss Y/N?" asked Tommy, pulling out a cigarette. “Do you mind if I smoke? She asked again, placing her cigarette on her lips.

"Jane. Please, it doesn't bother me…” Y/N sighed nervously.

Tommy lit her cigarette. After patiently inhaling and exhaling, Y/N was sure: Thomas Shelby would send her to hell.

"You are single, right?" he asked, the lump in Y/N's throat prevented her from speaking. She could only nod while looking at her hands. "Your accent isn't from around here, you're from London, right?"

“King’s College, London. The bastard abandoned me and spread lies all over bloody London. My parents kicked me out of my house, with only three dresses and a hundred pounds I came to Birmingham. I already owe Stella money. I don't want any more debt. I also don't want to die on the street and for Jane to have to... I want to give my daughter a good life, Tommy. And I am willing to do anything.”

“You ever been to Camden town, Y/N?” Tommy asked, drinking a little bite of his alcohol glass.

“Yes, Tommy. Quite a few times, actually.”

“Do you know who Mr Solomons is?”

Y/N thought about that last names for a few seconds.

“What’s his first name?” Y/N asked.

“Alfie.”

“Yes, I do know him. He owns a bakery, makes amazing sourdough bread.” Y/N smiled at the memories that where flashing through her head.

“Wait. Alfie, the Jewish baker… has business with a Birmingham gang?” the look on Y/N’s face made Tommy chuckle.

“Bring Jane, Y/N. We are going on a trip with my boys.”

Anyways I have some many thoughts about Malcolm and Annabeth

I feel like Malcolm would be at least 2-3 years older than Annabeth

He came to camp like 2 years after Annabeth did

Malcolm + Annabeth = Iconic but nonetheless Horrifying Trainwreck of a brother-sister duo

Making fun of each other’s names is like half of their relationship

Malcolm owns the preppy, blonde, All-American boy aesthetic — Jason just copied him

But on the inside he is very thoroughly a jock

Annabeth has the whole intimidating hot jock aesthetic down but is almost entirely a nerd inside and literally all the Athena kids know it

And then five years down the line he’s in court trying to convince a Jury that Annabeth didn’t commit arson and then murder 3 people but it be like that sometimes

You know when people have a shitton of kids for some inexplicable reason and then the oldest become kinda like part time guardians against their will

And then have to fix the shit their younger siblings pull so the parents don’t find out how horrible they are at it?

Annabeth has him on her phone that she isn’t supposed to have as ‘Mal Come 😡’ for like no reason

He has her as ‘Lizzy’ as in Elizabeth as in Anna Elizabeth (whether that’s her name or not is irrelevant) and it pissed her off at first

She hasn’t warmed up to it; she just can’t be bothered to care that much anymore

She could hear the whispers from all around her. They weren’t the kind type of whispers either. 

‘Why’d they let a siphoner-vampire in?’

‘Isn’t that the type of vampire who killed Lizzie and Joe’s biological mom?’

They only grew worse as she tried to make it to her new room, a room which was thankfully only hers so she wouldn’t have to worry about hurting anyone in case she were to somehow lose control. She hadn’t lost control in a long time though, but it was still a possibility it could happen.

Most of the vampires at the school thought it was cool they had a half witch vampire on their side, it evened out the field for them. MG and Kaleb were helping her move some of her things into her room, talking to her about things the vampires do in their free time, classes, and so forth. She wasn’t really listening, she was just trying to make her way through the halls.

There was only one box left down at the front doors and even though MG and Kaleb insisted on taking it for her she told them it was fine and went to get it herself. On her way down the stairs she could hear her name. There was literally like five people in the school who knew her name, so who was saying it? It wasn’t one of the voices she already knew, so who?

“Who the hell is Y/F/N Y/L/N and why is their shit at the front doors?” It was definitely a male voice and from what Y/N could already tell he was pissed. 

She walked down the stairs calmly, so calmly is scared the other students around her. She was already tired of the whispers about her so if she had to be intimidating to get them to stop, she would. She went to where her box was along with the angry voice and stood their with her arms crossed. 

“That would be me, can I help you?” Yeah, her tone was a bit rude but she could honestly care less. The man looked up and the second he saw her it was like the world stopped. His mouth fell open a bit and he just stared at Y/N.

“Close that mouth Jed, you’ll catch a fly.” Hope had walked in with Lizzie and Joe, all of them chuckling at the boy’s reaction to meeting Y/N for the first time. Hope picked up the box and handed it to Y/N, who gratefully took it.

Jed on the other hand was still off in his own world, “Hello, earth to Jed.” Hope waved a hand in front of his face but he wouldn’t snap out of it. “Okay, well let’s get this last box upstairs and we’ll start introducing you to everyone, okay?” Y/N nodded and the four girls walked up the stairs and to her bedroom.

Throughout the day Y/N was being introduced to other students and her new teachers. On the way she had met Landon, Hope’s boyfriend, and Raphael, Landon’s foster brother. They were nice, they didn’t think Y/N was a threat considering they were friends with a tribrid.

While they were all talking and getting to know Y/N, Jed was sitting with some of the other werewolves, his eyes transfixed on her. He didn’t know what it was about her, but he felt drawn to her. Y/N could feel someone staring at her, so when she turned her head to see who it was she was surprised -and a little freaked out- to see the boy from early staring at her the way he was.

Leaning into the group she asked in a semi-whisper voice, “Why is that Jed kid staring at me like I just killed his dog?” Everyone glanced at the boy was freely staring at her.

“Jed gets nervous around pretty girls.” Lizzie joked.

Raphael looked over at his beta, eyebrows furrowing a bit before he looked back at Y/N, “I’ve never seen him like this. He usually doesn’t stare at anyone like that, let alone vampires.No offence.”

“None taken,” Y/N shrugged, “It’s just kinda weird.”

Jed knew what he was doing was weird, and he didn’t know why he was doing it, so he went to the only person he thought would be able to help. Mr. Saltzman. Taking in a breathe a knocked on the closed door to his head master’s office and waited to see if it would open. Thankfully it did, and the adult stood at the door.

“Jed,” Mr. Saltzman said a little surprised to see the young wolf, “Is everything okay?”

“No, Mr. S, I don’t know what’s happening to me.” Okay, maybe those weren’t the best words to say to the head master but what else was he supposed to say?

Mr. Saltzman let him and they sat on opposite sides of the desk. “What’s going on?”

Jed sighed as he shook his head, his hands running through his hair, “I met that new girl, Y/N? I don’t know I looked at here and went to say something but it’s like I couldn’t. I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t think, my heart was racing but it was almost as if it stopped beating, and now I just want to be around her. I want to talk to her, but she already thinks I’m a freak for staring at her all day.” 

Mr. Saltzman didn’t exactly know what to say, but he had an idea of what was happening. Alaric got up from his chair and went to his book shelf, pulling out a lycanthropy book and set it down in front of his student.

“Jed, have you guys talked about what mates are in your lycanthropy class  at all?” He began flipping through the book until he fell onto the page he was looking for, but didn’t quite show Jed what was on the page.

“Well kind of, but our teacher said we’d get to that later on in the year. What does that have to do with anything?”

Alaric turned the book around and showed the page to Jed, which included most of the main symptoms that occur when a werewolf meets their mate for the first time.

Jed’s eyebrows furrowed together, “So what? What does this even mean?”

Alaric sighed, “Jed, Y/N is your mate.”

Let’s do this!

Alright, so I’m gonna liveblog this bench. I was planning to just make one long post, but there’s just too much to comment on and it would be ginormous. So I’ll make one post for each episode. I’ll try to avoid any major plot spoilers. I’ll always warn before I say anything pertaining to them. All that said, here we go...

Episode 1:

The scenery is beautiful. The costumes are beautiful. It’s all so beautiful!

This is Daphne’s first season? Book Daphne was on her third season and she wasn’t named the incomparable at all. Not loving this change.

Hmm...Marina Thompson. At first, I wasn’t thrilled when they introduced her, because I though “Oh, God, an OC. Is she going to be the Roz of the show?” But then I remembered a Marina from one of the other books. Is this the same one?

Sadly, Colin doesn’t seem as cute and charming as he’s supposed to be. He’s kind of... dorky. Which is fine, except he’s supposed to be a smooth, pretty boy lady-killer and a silly prankster. Maybe he’ll grow on me.

I insta-love Penelope and Eloise. Such cuties!

Simon is a freaking babe, holy smokes! His voice is pure, smooth, heavenly perfection. I die.

Oh, Lady Danbury!!! I love that cranky old biddy! She seems more cheerful than her book counterpart. I liked that she was a irritable grump with a heart of gold ☹️ This show version seems fabulous, but she’s not crotchety enough imo

"Not every woman is a lady." Shut up, Anthony 🙄 

Daphne was spirited and determined in the books. She’s supposed to be kind and funny - the girl all the guys want to be friends with, but not date. That’s the whole reason for her deal with Simon in the first place. If she’s the season’s incomparable, why would she even need a fake relationship?

Benedict is hot af. 

Philippa is a total dolt. I love it.

What? They’ve completely changed the Daphne/Simon meet cute! This makes me sad :( Also, why have they made Nigel so repulsive? He’s supposed to be an awkward/desperate/kind of a drunk pain in the butt, but they’ve gone straight to nasty with this show version, dang!

Okay now I’m seeing some of that Daphne spirit! Yay! Simon was being such a tool, lol. She put him right in his place. Getting strong Lizzy/Darcy vibes and I love it!

Ugh, Anthony! Go have more sex with Siena or something and stop bothering Daphne, good Lord. Why are they making Anthony be such an ass? He's being a total dick and Daphne just sits there and lets him? Book Daphne would never! Why are they making her such a fragile pushover? This is frustrating.

Seeing both Daphne and Simon take Anthony to task makes me very happy. Roast him, babies! I still don’t like that they’ve made him so awful, though. Book Anthony was Daphne’s friend and ally.

Um...where is Francesca?? Why did they leave her out?! I am not okay with this!! I love her! WTF? Edit:: Okay, nevermind, she still exists. She’s just chilling in the background and no one has said her name at all. 

They really should have done a better job at introducing all of the Bridgerton kids. They made a point of naming all the men, but Hyacinth and Fran are pretty much ignored (as is Gregory, but at least they said his name!). I’m telling you, if they mess up When He Was Wicked, I will not forgive them! 

Um, have I mentioned that Simon is a stone-cold fox? Because oh my God.

Okay, I genuinely hate what they’ve done to Anthony. That bastage dictating to everyone. Like, okay, he’s trying to protect Daphne, that’s great, but his whole “my word is law” garbage is seriously irking me! He’s the kind of dude that makes me SO glad that I’m single and don’t live in a time where I have to be subservient to men. I’m glad Violet chewed him out and set his butt straight! They’ve made him so horrible. I don’t like it.

Colin looking out for Penelope. How could she not love him? He’s still kinda dorky, but I’ll allow it lol

Really not a fan of the Marina plot. It’s typical Shonda-type drama and I’m not a fan. This is the kind of stuff I was afraid of when I heard Shonda was making the show tbh. Unnecessary filler plots. Bleh.

I am very upset that they erased the part where Simon tries to intimidate Daphne with his Manly Manliness™ and she literally laughs in his face. That was the best moment and it deserved to be included, dangit!

Daphne and Simon’s chemistry is beautiful! And the dancing and the fireworks are magical <3 

Final thoughts: 

It’s okay. It has promise. I like the majority of the casting and the writing isn’t terrible, though I have issues with the Queen and Marina’s filler plotlines. They should have spent that time fleshing out Simon’s character. I also dislike how so many of the female characters are watered down. Violet and Daphne have very little spirit compared to their novel counterparts and I’m really disappointed in what they’ve done with Lady Danbury. She was so much fun in the books, all cranky and irreverent; too honest for everyone’s liking, but they put up with her because she was rich and old. This version is too regal and fashionable. Why did they mess with perfection? Also, I’m not a fan of the modern music. I love the Vitamin String Quartet as much as the next girl, but there’s so much amazing classical music out there. I do love the visuals and the costumes, though! Seeing these characters that I’ve loved and rooted for all these years feels magical. Overall, I like it, but don’t love it just yet. The show is cute, but so much of the OG charm is missing. All the little quirks and in-jokes are nowhere to be seen. I appreciate the little nods here and there to the book fans, but it doesn’t make up for what’s left out. It’s intriguing, but nowhere near as clever as the source material. As an adaptation, I’d give it a 6/10. Anyway, on to Episode 2!
