(My first thought from the prompt was angst but then I had a better idea hehe)

You and Kaz were best friends. And definitely just friends. Despite what the rest of the team insisted.

The team was always stupid, yeah you and Kaz would play flirt all the time, but that's all it was; play flirting. I mean, friends do that all the time, right?

The others would always nudge each other or raise their eyebrows at us when we did it. That is so dumb, like they're so blind, obviously there was nothing there.

Okay, you had mayyybeee caught yourself looking at his chest too long in his mission suit, but could anyone blame you? The guy was muscular, you could respect that. Okay and maybe you had had a hard time breathing that one time you were on a mission and he pushed you out of the way of some debris and ended up on top of you, but you had gotten the wind knocked out of you, the shortness of breath didn't mean anything!

But you were surely looking too much into it, I mean you play flirted with the rest of the team too and that didn't mean anything! When you told Chase he had a nice ass and kissed Skylar on the cheek during Truth or Dare, that was completely platonic!

It didn't matter anyways, even if you did admit to your self you had a small crush on the boy with fire powers, there's no way he thought of it the same way. His play flirting really was play flirting.

This train of thought was brought about after a mission where you had had another one of those snap-out-of-it moments. The mission had just ended extremely successful and in celebration Kaz had picked you up in a hug and spun you around laughing.

This shouldn't have been jarring, you were his childhood best friend and he was a touchy guy, he hugged you all the time. But for some reason you just found your brain had completely shut off. You awkwardly laughed with him but you had already forgotten the mission and all that was left in your mind was radio static. Luckily Kaz hadn't noticed and had already turned to Chase to make a dumb joke, at which the bionic boy scoffed.

It was all you could think about on the way home. Bree gave you a confused look once, so apparantly your feelings were evident on your face, but thankfully didn't mention anything, likely just thinking it was mission fatigue.

After you had gone through this thought process, you officially decided that there was nothing between you and Kaz romantically, and you would just drop it. No matter what you felt, you did love Kaz and you didn't want to mess up your relationship.

Wanting to prove to yourself that you could drop it, you wandered to the game room where Kaz spent most of his time, especially after missions when he needed to cool down.

Sure enough, when you walked in the top of his spiky hair was visible above the large beanbag in front of the TV, an impressive feat considering just how far down he was slumped in it.

"Hey Kaz," You greeted casually, moving forward with your hands stuffed in your pockets.

He shuffled around in his chair and grinned when he saw it was you.

"Hey man! Wanna play?"

It was a 1v1 game the two of you loved to play.

"Of course," You laughed. You plopped down in the beanbag, which was large enough to hold like three people, next to him and grabbed the other controller.

You were a master at this game, you two had been playing since you were kids so you knew each other's favorite plays but you still usually won.

You soon found out that you could not, in fact, prove to yourself that you could drop it. As hard as you tried to stay focused, Kaz was still worn out from the mission and sometimes his eyes would droop, and he was so warm next to you, and sometimes his arm would touch yours when he moved and you would get goosebumps, and his laugh when he would get a hit on you was so cute, and once he stretched out and his leg ended up crossing yours and-

"YES I WON, IN YOUR FACE!" Kaz giggled and pointed at you with a wide grin.

"I like never win, you doing okay bro? Haha." It was a joke, but it still sent you into a small panic internally.

"Don't get too cocky about it, I'm still tired from the mission." You rolled your eyes at him endearingly.

He laughed and flopped back into his side of the beanbag. He then immediately leaned forward again, in that can-never-stay-still Kaz style.

"I was so cool that round, I think I deserve a kiss for that."

Considering your thoughts just earlier that evening, you should've been very flustered, but it was so easy to fall back into that flirty back and forth you guys did all the time. (Plus hey, it couldn't hurt to test the waters a little.)

You laughed and pushed his face back. "In your dreams, pretty boy."

He gasped, putting a hand to his chest. "Did you just call me 'pretty'?"

You did a little falsetto voice and shoulder movement. "You'll always be my pretty boy."

"You're so in love with me it's embarrassing."

"Kind of the pot calling the kettle black, ain't it dear?"

Neither of you could contain your laughter anymore, both bursting into giggles and falling over each other.

When he contained himself, Kaz threw your controller at you. You wouldn't have caught it if he hadn't been throwing controllers at your for a good part of both of your lives, you were used to it now.

"Okay okay, come on, best two out of three." He challenged.

Pushing your feelings out of your mind, you turned on your controller.

"You're on."

You were more focused that time, and ended up beating him by a long shot. He dropped his controller and pouted.

"HA! See, told you I didn't lose it, now wheres my kiss, huh?"

He crossed his arms like a child.

"No way! I said best two out of three. I won one, you won one, that's not two out of three. I say we go again."

"You're impossible Kaz," You laughed.

Kaz grabbed his controller. "Yep, but you love me anyways."

Another round started up. You won easily.

"There," You smiled, "That's two out of three."

"Okay fiinneeee," Kaz whined.

Part of you thought about the promise of a kiss to the winner, but that was obviously a joke. And it didn't bother you that it was, of course not.

Kaz smirked at you. "Maybe I just let you win cause you're so cute."

"I'm flattered," you joked. But the thoughts were getting to you again.

You sighed and let your head fall back into the chair.

Kaz sat up further and eaised an eyebrow. "Hey what's up?"

"Ah nothing," You said dismissively, "I love when we joke around like this, I just wish sometimes... some of them weren't jokes, maybe..."

Kaz looked at you like he was trying to figure you out. "You mean, you want them to be real flirting?"

You covered your face in embarrassment of what you had just admitted, but there was no going back now. "Yeah, I guess so."

"You know... not everything is a joke," Kaz said.

You lifted your head to meet his gaze. "Really?"

"Yeah," He shrugged, "I like you a lot, y/n, and as much as we joke around I don't want to lose you, and, I dunno, I never thought you would like me back cause you're all... you and I'm all... me. So I did the only thing I could, play flirting."

You were all the way sat up now, shocked as you looked at him, trying to find some indication that it was a joke.

"Seriously? So some of those weren't jokes?!"

Kaz huffed out a laugh. "Yeah I guess, they weren't."

You stayed silent a moment, processing that, and then you gave him a playful look.

"Does that mean I can't take you up on that kiss, since I did win best two out of three?"

Kaz gave you a lopsided grin and turned red. "I guess it means you can, if you want of course."

You laughed and nodded.

Slowly, as if unsure of himself, Kaz reached out his hand and gently slid it behind your head. He slightly pulled you towards him as he leaned forward himself and your lips met.

It wasn't just a peck, like would probably be appropriate for just winning a video game match, but instead it was slow and passionate, and perfect.

Kaz's free hand went to your waist to pull to pull himself closer to you, and your hands migrated from his chest to his hair where they tangled themselves.

When you pulled apart, neither of you knew what to say. The air was filled with tension.

And then you both burst out laughing. You fell against Kaz's chest with laughter and he buryed his face in your shoulder, muffling his giggles.

"So, can I still be your pretty boy?"

"Oh shut up Kaz."

i hate the sparks fly episode of mighty med

i truly do (there is a very lengthy rant under the cut, you have been warned)

1. i despise oliver's relationship advice: "you have to become friends first and then gradually transition into something more" like babes let's not promote going into friendships solely to date someone

2. spark is so toxic. kaz answered a call from his mother and she flipped out and it's mentioned in passing that she threatened kaz so he wouldn't break up with her.

i know that it's a kids show and that they don't want me to take it so seriously but young kids shouldn't grow up with abusive relationships being written like this in media (specifically if, like in mm, the abuser is treated as the true victim) or else they'll think that it's okay to be treated/treat others this way. kids are impressionable and they follow what they see (mm was more of a tween show but young kids could obviously still find a way to watch it)

3. and now on to the biggest problem i have with the episode, the entire episode treats kaz as the villain and spark as the victim. (villain could be a reach but the episode definitely doesn't treat kaz like he's in the right)

as i mentioned before spark was a toxic girlfriend (she also was low-key a love bomber but i'll move on) and kaz was visibly terrified of her. he had to get out of the relationship and because he thought she would kill him if he broke up with her, he faked his death (WHAT ELSE WAS HE SUPPOSED TO DO). spark finds out that he's not actually dead and powers up, kaz assumes that she's gonna kill him cause ya'know that's what she said she'd do, instead she starts crying and runs out of mighty med. now everyone is mad at kaz for lying to her and making her cry.

let's over simplify the entire situation:

boy asks girl out

girl accepts and takes the boy on a date

girl shows intense jealousy, attempting to destroy the boy's property in the process

boy starts to regret his decision to ask out the girl

boy later mentions the girl threatening to kill him if he attempts to break up with her

boy's friend minimizes the situation

boy decides to take drastic measures to escape the girl

boy's friend tries to guilt him into feeling bad about taking drastic measures and initially refuses to help his friend get out of an abusive relationship

boy has to blackmail his friend into helping

the drastic measure ends up not working and the girl gets angry at the boy

boy fears for his life and prepares to be hurt

girl then cries and spins the story around to make him seem like the problem

boy's friend tries to make the boy feel bad for making the girl cry

girl is heartbroken by the breakup and cannot function properly

boy's friend makes the boy rekindle the girl's broken heart so she can function again

boy ends up blaming himself for her heartbreak to no avail

boy's friend makes the girl feel better, dissing the boy in the process

girl can function again

girl disses the boy multiple times before leaving him and boy's friend

now that you've read all that...WHAT THE HELL???

kaz was so not in the wrong for faking his death, im sorry, he just wasn't

even if spark's threat was empty, kaz surely believed it and feared for his life. and oliver, who's supposed to be kaz' best friend was just gonna let him stay in an abusive relationship because spark's feelings could be hurt and it would be rude to lie to her.

if i were kaz, i would drop oliver right then and there and never talk to him again (them being terrible best friends is a rant for a different day) but i digress

also kaz having to take the blame for spark's heartbreak and apologize for hurting her feelings so she could fight nightstrike would be like if an abuser couldn't do their job as a police officer and the ex-partner had to publicly apologize for breaking up with them so they could capture some robbers

basically my final thoughts are:

i hate spark

im mad at oliver

and i stand with kaz

alright beach lbmmef hcs bc i’m in hawaii and i can

- chase is in the sand trying to build the most elaborate sand castle you’ve ever seen (using math and shit so it stands on its own and is protected from wind and water)

- skylar and bree are racing on the water, but they get distracted whenever they see dolphins/cool looking fish/ turtles)

- oliver is mom friending everyone and making sure that they all have an appropriate amount of sunscreen so they don’t get burned (kaz ignores is because “i’m not gonna get burned ollie” and then proceeds to get the worst sunburn and is super annoying about it the next day)

- speaking of kaz, he and adam are having paddle board fights (standing on paddle boards and using the paddles to try to knock the other person off) (they’re both terrible and keep losing their balance)

- leo is also building sand castles, but his are terrible and they keep crumbling (he’s trying to sabotage chase, but it keeps failing)

- the adults are all watching this chaos unfold but not doing anything

- horace and douglas are sunbathing (tasha reminds them every hour to put sunscreen on) (mostly to douglas since he’s pale as shit)

- donald keeps trying to help chase with his sand castle, but eventually decides to make his own with leo’s help (they’re very bad at sandcastles, for two very talented inventors)

- tasha’s reading, her only goal is to make sure no one dies and also if she can make it out without something exploding, it’s a success

- alan is either drowning or is sleeping and oliver and kaz are covering him with sand

I’ve spiralled into a Lab Rats hyperfixation recently and now all of you have to deal with it. I haven’t watched Mighty Med yet so some stuff about Elite Force may be wrong since I don’t know the MM characters that well yet. Most will be Chase-centric. Anyway, here are my HCs.

-Chase is trans, he is the most trans character I have ever seen you cannot change my mind.

-Adam acts like a d!ck to Chase but he actually loves him a lot and would actually kill someone for him (I stand by Adam being the cuddliest sibling)

-to reiterate the above, Adam loves hugs. He will hug anyone and any given point (Tasha is usually the victim of his super strong hugs)

-Bree loves girly stuff but when it comes down to it she can act like a classic brother (pranks, punching people in a friendly manner, bro hugging people, loogie contests, arm wrestles to prove who’s stronger etc) (THIS IS NOT ME SAYING GIRLS CANT DO THIS, it’s just that traditionally brothers do this more than sisters. This is coming from someone who has a sister and a brother)

-Bree can pick Chase up and used to always attempt to throw him like Adam does. She has not yet succeeded in throwing him farther than about a foot. Adam thinks it’s cute and hilarious.

-Leo gets along with Chase more than everyone else because they’re both autistic and they stim dance together all the time after Leo introduced it to Chase.

-Chase was forced to suppress his stims as a child because Mr Davenport wasn’t educated on autism/neurodivergence enough to realise it was helpful to Chase.

-Chase was not diagnosed with autism until Leo came along and both him and Tasha pointed it out that he is most definitely on the autism spectrum.

-Adam isn’t stupid. He just acts stupid and like he doesn’t know things just to annoy Chase and he thinks it’s funny.

-Adam has ADHD and struggles with retaining information that doesn’t interest him.

-Adam is also dyslexic and has dyscalculia (number dyslexia basically)

-Leo and Bree love reading comics together. Bree fangirls over Skylar Storm (since this is based on the seasons before Bionic Island and Elite Force. She pretends to not know Skylar when she sees her because she’s been bullied at school for liking comics before and she doesn’t want Oliver, since she had a crush on him, to know she reads comics)

-Adam and Chase can’t read comics. The colours and fonts make it hard for Adam to focus and Chase gets overwhelmed by all the bright colours with his super senses. The pages also feel very icky to him.

-Chase leans against Adam when he feels overwhelmed (this is kinda canon since we see this in the scene where Chase gets overwhelmed by the sound of the school bell in Crush, Chop and Burn)

-All the siblings play Minecraft. Chase and Leo have an amazing world together where they’ve built a whole city with really cool features. It’s their pride and joy.

-Spike doesn’t know he’s bionic and god forbid he ever finds out.

-Spike stems from Chase’s deep rooted dysphoria. Spike is everything he thinks he is not. This is why we see Spike portrayed as having a really deep voice and constantly flexes his muscles as a result of toxic masculinity.

-Chase can communicate with Spike in his head if he wants to, he just hasn’t discovered it yet because he still hates the idea of Spike taking over his body

-Chase and Sebastian definitely dated.

-TW for this one: Sebastian was abusive to Chase towards the end of their relationship, after Sebastian found out about the destruction of Krane.

-Chase falls for people easily and tends to blindly trust people because of his autism. He isn’t aware when people have ulterior motives as he’s not good at reading between the lines. (This is totally not based on me /s)

-And on that note, Chase uses tone tags all the time after Leo showed him what they were. Leo loves it. Adam is confused on what they mean and forgets the meaning so has a screenshot of what they all mean saved to his phone. Bree forgets to use them a lot because she speed types and makes a lot of mistakes but she tries her best.

-Adam is gay, he definitely went out with Owen but had to break up with him when they moved to the bionic island. They get back together once Adam realises that Owen can come to the island whenever he wants to. (I imagine this happens after the team is split up when Bree and Chase join the EF)

-Bree is lesbian. When she started school she realised all of the girls always talked about boys and dated boys, she was desperate to fit in so she tried to force herself to go out with guys. That’s why she never had a long lasting relationship. None of them ever worked out. She’s dating Skylar now (I will get more into detail about that in future posts)

-Chase is bisexual. I absolutely love this hc. He thinks girls are really pretty, and blushes every time a girl has complimented him. But he thinks boys are very pretty too. He only really realised he likes boys too when he had to pretend to be Bree at that school dance with Bree’s boyfriend (?) at the time. I stand by Chaz (Chase and Kaz) being real. They were so in love.

-Leo is pan. He’s gender blind and doesn’t care about the gender of the person he is dating. It took him a while to find a label that fits but when he finally found one (after hours of research with Chase) he was ecstatic. He asked Taylor out when he realised how much he liked her but it turned out she was dating one of the female students in secret. Leo now has a crush on Logan but is still trying to figure out how to ask him out since he’s never been with a guy before and he has a lot of past internal homophobia he’s trying to work through.

-Last one for this post, there will be a lot more. Leo’s dad was abusive which is why Tasha left him. She was a single mother for a few years before deciding to start looking for another partner which is when she met Mr Davenport. She was very picky because she didn’t want the same thing to happen to her and Leo again.

So sorry for the extremely long post. I just have so much to talk about.

i want the elite force gang watching bluey together

or literally just any tv show

want all of them curled up on a too small couch with a massive tv playing a kids show

want bree and skylar to get back from a walk and find kaz, oliver and chase all passed out on the couch and pocoyo is playing on the tv

bree drags skylar kicking and screaming (/j) to watch gravity falls with her and they binge it all in 24hrs

one of them sees owl house, runs around the penthouse showing everyone the trailer and they watch it all in two days and then scream until season 3 finishes coming out

bree and oliver watched all three descendants movies together, skylar came out and watched the second half of the third movie and they ended up rewatching all three the next day so she could see them

want oliver and kaz to have grown up on henry danger and when they find out chase has no idea what it is they binge watch all five seasons and then kaz is on his phone and shouts "THERES A SECOND SHOW?!" and they watch all of that too

skylar loved wendel and wild and watched it with Chase and Kaz at three in the morning

chase and bree watched glitch techs, then proceeded to talk about nothing but glitch techs for the next week until the rest of the team broke and watched it with them and really liked it i want oliver to watch the boy who cried werewolf and then tell everyone all about it and only kaz agrees to watch it with him because he kept going “it’s nick so its bad but like its so good”

i want kaz to watch the little vampire and then start telling chase and oliver all about it and like every other sentence he goes “AND THEY MADE HIM KISS THE SISTER!!! if these little 13 year old kdis were gonna kiss ANYBODY it was gonna be EACH OTHER”

i want skylar to fucking love rainbow high and expect nobody else to want to watch it with her and then oliver walks in on her watching it in the living room and goes “rainbow high?? yooo i love that show!” and flop down on the couch with her. they talk about it for the next three hours straight

i want bree to have an unhealthy love for power rangers but like specifcially mystic force (she loves all of them but thats her favorite) and i want chase to make fun of her for it while he’s watching Reboot: The Guardian Code, which is basically power rangers but in technology (its not actually power rangers but it may as well be lmao)

want kaz and skylar to watch RotTMNT and obsess for so fucking long and watch all three seasons and the movie and cry at every even remotely emotional scene

want chase to see the healing powers and dude and then go tripping sprinting running to oliver and go dude i just found a tv show about a kid with social anxiety who has an emotional support dog named dude and the first episode is relaly good wanna watch it with me and then they binge it and yell at the tv for an hour once they finish

More Lab Rats Language Headcanons

(Except it's mostly me freaking out about Lithuanian Kaz.)

Kazimieras

Kaz is Lithuanian! Inspired by his name, which is the Lithuanian variant of the name Casimir. Interestingly enough, Casimir comes from "mir/u" [peace] and the other half could either stem from "kazać" [to preach] or "kazic" [to destroy]. Basically Kaz's name could either mean "bringer/preacher of peace" or "destroyer of peace". Symbolism!

Most Lithuanians are Catholic, thus why he has so many siblings

They immigrated to the US when Kaz was a baby. He can speak Lithuanian, specifically the western Aukštaitian dialect, but ONLY if he doesn't think about it. Oliver asks him how to say a word in Lithuanian, Kaz just shrugs, then has an entire conversation with his mom in the language.

EDIT: Kazys is a diminutive of Kazimieras, so his family calls him that.

Oliver

Bridget definitely made him take French lessons as a child, so he knows basic French.

Skylar Storm

""Calderan"" doesnt exist the same way "Human" or "Terran" doesn't exist. I headcanon that Skylar & her kind, including the lava creatures that raised them, aren't actually native to Caldera. The lava creatures taught Skylarkind English, though over time it evolved into its own dialect with lots of loanwords/grammar from the native languages of Caldera. Earth is sort of the galactic hub of the universe, thus why the lava creatures chose English as their language.

It's Calderan humor to describe things as their complete opposite, i.e calling candy "diarrhea". Over time the jokes stopped being jokes and just became their name (like non-plussed, which means both "unsettled" and "undisturbed").

Gus

Speaks the most obscure languages in the world for no particular reason.

Horace & Alan Diaz

Horace speaks Old Castilian, Mexican Spanish, and Classical Arabic. He mashes them up in amusing ways.

Alan was raised thinking that's just How People Talk, and so will casually drop Spanish/Arabic words into conversation and then call people stupid when they don't understand. He also knows bits & bobs of a few alien languages.

Yknow, Oliver and Kaz have been best friends since they were 3. They've had multiple classes together. There is no way in hell that he wouldn't know that Kaz's full name is Kazimieras.

That's why I think that...

Oliver finding out Kaz's full name is Kazimieras is a metaphor for Kaz coming out to him.

I'd actually like to see a version where it's just outright lol

anyone else think about how kaz & oliver are severely underpaid actually. like horace was gonna give them $200 a week for what i'm presuming are 3-4 hour shifts (since oliver covers it up by saying he does after school activities, so anything later than that would be suspicious) which would've aligned with the minimum wage in 2013 when mm came out ($8/hr), assuming they also work weekends
