Cliché (Might Guy x Reader, Part I)
Synopsis: The real shinobi work went out to the fearless... which wasn’t you. Teaching was more in your realm of comfort, that is, until you’re teamed up with your old academy classmates to lead the next generation of genin.

Notes: Look familiar? It’s the rewrite! Cliché was my first ever fan fiction and I’ve wanted to rewrite it for a big anniversary (which was pushed way back). Dedicated to @altogetherweathered who has been here since day 1.

Sometimes you wondered where the years had gone.
Another year, another batch of genin to train.
You didn’t mind, of course. You looked into the eyes of your new students. Their glossy photographs stared back at you, pinned together with a paperclip. Ryo, Hikaru, Takahiro. They looked sweet and overall, nothing special. They would do nicely. Your eyes scanned the roster, thumbs creasing the paper at the sides as the material began to moisten slightly under the sweaty pads of your fingers. You felt that perhaps you were better at teaching than other types of shinobi work. The real jobs went to the fearless— and you could be honest with yourself— that just wasn’t you. At least with teaching, you received a steady salary. The missions on your roster were genin level for the most part (unless you were summoned for higher level field work which seldom happened). And while children were oftentimes unpredictable, you were never thrown anything outside of your comfort zone. And you could live with that.
Academy from age five, then the chūnin selection exams. A shinobi (or kunoichi) could have their lives planned out from age twelve. Between the mission work and the mandatory academic service required of all non-ANBU, you supposed that this was your prime. You flipped back to the front of your packet to the list of teams that were carefully selected weeks ago. Familiar names associated with faces you hadn’t seen since your teenage years.
Team Asuma. Now that would be one smart team. You remembered Sarutobi well and you didn’t have to have much interaction with him to recognize his brute strength. As you moved down the list, you wondered how he ended up.
Team Kurenai. She probably had about as many reservations as you did. At least that’s what you got through your passing interactions. You seemed to see her most often. Although you could chalk it up mostly to coincidence rather than the fact that Kurenai was a new team teacher this season. With duty, it had been a while since you had an actual conversation with any of your classmates, after all. It was nice knowing you might have a potential ally in all of this. Your eyes fluttered down at the list of names under her. None that you recognized. Although, you weren’t sure why you would recognize any names on the list to begin with.
Team Kakashi. Spirits, bless those children.
Team Guy. You paused. Now there was an underdog. It didn’t take much thinking to remember Might Guy (for he was always far too loud and flashy to forget). A certain amount of anxiety hung over your head like a cloud as a nervous flurry made its way into your chest. You thought back to your academy days, inhaling sharply, as you slowly tried to convince yourself; you’re an adult now, things will be different this time.
“You’re here early.” You barely heard Iruka’s voice over the sound of your yelp. You scrambled back, causing the both of you to stumble in surprise. The younger shinobi held his hands up to his chest, a sheepish expression morphing his lips into an awkward smile. Sheer mortification overtook your heart and your face. Being snuck up on in your line of work was surely something that would keep you up at night for years to come. You fumbled with the roster, putting it down on the desk before remembering that you were supposed to have it anyway.
“So sorry, I was here to pick up the roster and uh… look for you!” You picked the packet back up, gesturing to him with it. He nodded knowingly before making his way over to flip through his masterlist. “Since, you know, I couldn’t make it earlier.”
“Yeah, no, I’m sorry that I wasn’t here. I’m glad you could stop by.” Iruka laughed and the tension in your raised shoulders eased the slightest bit. You wished that you and Iruka were in the same class during the Academy. Maybe things would have been different if you were born two years later. You had to wonder. “I’m still a strong believer that if academic service is required, then sensei should at least be intelligible to be pulled for mission work. I think every year I’ve worked here the team leaders have tried to meet and it’s never worked out for anyone. But I don’t have to tell you that.”
Iruka looked up from his paper flipping, standing with one hand shoved in his pocket as he offered you another gentle smile. You hummed in agreement, mirroring his expression. You had been in mission selection meetings all morning, but as to be expected, you were put on paper-based duties at home base. In all honesty, you were relieved to have missed the action yet again. You always were, although it meant that you didn’t get a lot of interaction with shinobi around your class age. Typically, most of your time revolved around your students and perhaps the jōnin from other student teams if not the same handful of people in the Hokage’s office. Although that interaction was scarce.
“Then I guess it was the usual?” you asked, pulling up a spare chair. Iruka bobbed his head from side to side as he cast his eyes up diagonally.
“Just Kurenai and Asuma. You know how Kakashi is.”
“If timing wasn’t an issue, I’d say that getting to talk to you one-on-one would be a far better system anyway.” You flipped the first page of your information packet, bouncing from the overview to the information specific to your team. “So, tell me about these three. What stands out to you?”
You listened carefully as Iruka walked you through your new team, scribbling down on your papers every now and again. He, like the many other times you had gone over teams with him, was as thorough as you liked. The more you knew about your students from someone who knew them on an academic level— their learning style, their strengths, their weaknesses, their quirks— the more confident you felt in leading them. From your earlier, brief, passing interaction, you knew Kurenai to have a similar team structure: a quiet boy, a quiet girl, and a slightly rowdy boy, all with kekkei genkai. Iruka watched on as you made the last of your notes.
Loud footsteps made their way down the hallway. The sound of boots on tile grew closer, causing both you and Iruka to look towards the door before it swung open with a slam.
“Am I too late?!” You unconsciously sank back into your chair as Might Guy appeared in the doorway. You raised your packet up, although not far enough up to cover your face. You, after all, didn’t want to make your discomfort obvious. Iruka sighed as he quickly thumbed through the papers on his desk.
“Not too late, I have your team overview here.”
“You’re a life-saver, Iruka. Have I told you that?” Guy lumbered over with an exaggerated look of exasperation. Despite your efforts to disappear into your seat (you probably could have if you weaved your hand signs fast enough), Guy’s eyes met yours. The temperature of your cheeks rose as your lips threatened to form a grimace. He glanced from you to Iruka. “Did we have a meeting?”
“No, we were just going over—”
— “I was just going!” You stood a bit too fast and exclaimed a bit too loud. Guy didn’t seem to notice or mind. Iruka handed him his student list. You gripped your own in your hand, trying to work up the courage to inch towards the exit.
“Did you want to go over anything?” Iruka asked Guy, who shook his head. Guy held up a hand, lids closed in self-assurance.
“No worries, my friend, I don’t need to know anything about these new youngins to know that they’re goin’ to be fiery with the hot passion of their youth!” Iruka nodded along. Whatever that means. The both of you made eye contact as you took a few quiet steps towards the door. You mouthed a quick thanks before attempting to take your leave, but Might Guy was far too quick. “Oh!” He exclaimed, causing you to nearly jump. “You’re on your way out? We can talk about this team stuff! What’s your name again?”
Guy strode up to you, rambling more about something that you couldn’t register. You couldn’t look him in his face. Instead, you stood, mostly frozen, staring at the open collar of his jōnin vest. The vest had to be the only thing about his ensemble that changed since your academy days. That and his overall physique. Guy always said that he’d grow tall back when you were children and his prediction certainly came true. If only all wishful thinking could get you what you wanted. You could take in his scent from where you stood. It reminded you of something akin to a freshener sachet for utility bags: woodsy, dark, and clean.
You felt like you were about to pass out.
“I, uh, actually had more questions for Iruka,” you somehow managed to stifle out. You had no idea how you were still standing, let alone talking. Guy didn’t seem to notice your daze and in a moment of unrecallable memories, he disappeared.
The front of a chair knocked against the back of your knees and that’s all it took for you to plop down in the seat. Iruka stood to your side, hand on the top rail as he fanned you with his student file. He took in your flustered face in silence. He thought it best not to remark on your decade old crush or let on to the fact that everyone seemed to know except for Might Guy.
Thank you to all who liked, reblogged, followed and otherwise supported. Your support means so much and is greatly appreciated.

Her Turn
(Prologue)
Possible triggering content below
The moon is full tonight, shining brightly through her bedroom window in a pool of silver. Down below, Konohagakure sleeps peacefully, its residents blissfully unaware that one among them cannot so easily turn in for the night. Sakura sighs, staring at the piece of paper in her lap, and the words written in bold at the top: Exam Application. The Chunin Exams, for anyone who longs to surpass the rookie genin level and try their hand at a professional shinobi career—or something like that. Truthfully, she isn’t sure what she personally has to gain from the experience.
Sakura sets the application down on the bed, swinging her legs over the side. A curtain of long black hair falls over her shoulder; she pauses, and then she turns, locking eyes with her reflection in the mirror a few feet away. Painted in the pale, soft glow of the moon, she looks like a ghost, she thinks, studying herself in the glass. This late at night, safe in the privacy of her own room, she sometimes lets her false face slip away. Besides, she’s locked the door.
It’s the real Sakura staring back at her tonight, the one that’s marred her in a monster’s image since birth. Her appearance is a stark contrast to the plain night gown she wears to bed: chalky-white skin, long, inky dark hair and golden, slit eyes framed in purple points. I am a ghost, she thinks dully, and her stomach tightens.  The ghost of a man haunting her from afar. The ghost of her father.
Sakura watches as her mouth thins and lies limp in a deflated scowl. All the traits are there, down to the broad forehead…except where extreme chakra manipulation and strength ought to be, there…isn’t. Sakura can’t do any of the things Orochimaru can—or assumes he can, based on texts she’s come across and fragments of childhood memories. That cold glare and venomous voice are burned so deeply into her psyche, she’s taken him at his word either way. Her father runs all of Sound Country for a reason, and what does his daughter do to uphold his image? She can stick to trees. She can substitute herself with logs. She can throw stars and kunai and maybe, just maybe, she’ll hit a target.  Otherwise, she’d better hope one of the boys is paying attention and comes to her aid. Sakura, in all of her glory, is the tag-along sidekick of her genin squad…and Kakashi-sensei thinks she’s ready for the next level?
The knot in her brow deepens. She can see her application through the glass as well, lying in wait beneath her window. Of course, she’s already filled it out. If there is anything Sakura excels at, it’s the written word. In another life, she’s probably a teacher, or maybe some high-profile ninja’s assistant.  As if I’d be so lucky. Sakura’s never really thought about what to do when she grows up. She’s grown up with only one real objective in mind: find an Uchiha. Befriend the Uchiha. Bring one home. Home... For the last seven years of her life, this place, this village, has been her home.  To everyone in it, she’s simply Sakura Haruno: the ordinary, pink-haired daughter of an ordinary shinobi family. Does anyone even remember she’s adopted? I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t. There’s nothing particularly memorable about the Sakura this village knows: she’s just another genin…and genin, at least ordinary ones, aspire for chunin status.
Sakura glances at the paper again. She knows Sasuke is going to apply. That’s a no-brainer. He told them early on that he’s got lethal objectives in mind, down the road. Her father would probably delight in that, but the thought makes her skin crawl, and she pushes it aside. Naruto will absolutely apply, although how well he’ll fill out the form, she can only guess. He’s so hell-bent on this whole being Hokage thing, he’d probably submit it half-finished if he has to. The thought’s almost admirable, or would be, if she hadn’t been such a stickler for rules and dedication…but is it dedication, she wonders, tugging at the ends of her hair (she can do that, she’s learned, in the privacy of her own room. No one can see her weakness behind these walls.)  What does Sakura want when this is all said and done?
Sakura’s eyes slowly trail back up to meet those of her reflection once more. Gradually (reluctantly,) she brings her hands together, moving through hand-signs with the fluid ease of muscle memory.  In a moment’s notice, her true self fades away and its aquamarine eyes that stare back at her now, Aquamarine eyes, rosy cheeks and layers and layers of vibrant pink hair.
It doesn’t matter what she wants. She should know this by now. Orochimaru left her here for one reason, and that reason is signing up for the chunin exams. Like it or not, ready or not, if something happens to her father’s new host body, he’ll never let her live it down. Literally, she thinks, and the word chills her to the bone. She’ll have to find a way to keep up with the boys. There’s no other choice.

God Of Storms Au
Going to the market was a special treat for Gai. An event that only happened once every two months, if he was lucky. Even though Choza-Sensei loved to take Gai out of the castle once in a while, the trips often ended up being in the nearby gardens or down by the lake.
So it’s a real treat for Gai when he’s led to the busy streets of the market. To see all of the people walking by picking out their groceries, and the other kids his age running around playing with each other.
The only downside is that Gai can’t join them.
Instead of weaving through people laughing with other kids, he was glued to his Sensei’s side with two of the royal guards following closely by.
Rather than enjoying himself, he felt like a spectacle . Put on show for all of the people of his village to gawk at while he was unable to speak to them.
“Where are we going?” He asked, trying to keep his eyes forward even though he wanted to look around.
“A new store,” his Sensei explained. “They’ve just opened up and they’re quite small, but it’s the first of its kind in our village.”
A new store. Gai had never been inside one of the village shops. Choza-Sensei always made him wait outside with the guards while he picked out something for him.
Whatever new gift he received Gai was guaranteed to enjoy. There was no one he trusted more to get him a gift than Choza-Sensei.
“What kind of store is it?”
“A bookstore.”
Books. Those were the new things his Sensei had started bringing to his classes. There weren’t a lot of them yet, but the one’s he’d seen were rather beautiful.
“Are you getting me a new book?” He asked, already thinking about the choices his Sensei might have to pick from. The first book he’d received was full of short stories all written by the same author, and the second one had been a history book that took him through ancient civilization straight through to today’s society.
“No, today You’ll choose your own book.” His Sensei turned into an alleyway and stopped beside a small grey building. “Guards, stand outside please.”
“But-“
He held up a hand to silence the guards. “No buts. This shop is so small it only fits two people, and I will be by the prince’s side the entire time. If any harm should come to him it will be on my head.”
The two shared a concerned look, but still did as they were told and took up position on either side of the door.
“Good, now,” Choza-Sensei held out a hand towards him. “Shall we?”
Gai doesn’t need to think about it. Placing all of his trust into his Sensei, he took hold of his hand and followed him into the little shop.
It was the best decision of his life.
Inside there were shelves full of books. Each of them a different colour with fascinating names on the spine calling out to Gai.
A history of Japan.
The Wild Prince
A Wonderful Life
There were more books than Gai had ever seen in his life.
“I thought books were a new thing,” he whispered, surprised by the sheer number of them. “How are there already so many?”
Choza-Sensei laughed. “People can do wonderful things when they’re given the right tools,” he explained. “For as long as humans have existed we’ve told stories. Shared adventures, passed down knowledge and even come up with a few fables of our very own. As soon as there was an opportunity to write them down, people took it.”
“But not everyone can read,” Gai pointed out, recalling the lesson he’d had when his Sensei had explained the difference between his education and the education of others in the village. “So not everyone can enjoy them.”
“Not yet, no,” His Sensei confirmed. “But one day I hope that we’re able to teach everyone in our village to read. It will take a lot of time though.”
“And a lot of dedication,” Gai grinned. “When I become King I can help. We’ll make this the first village where everyone can read and write!”
Choza-sensei stared at him in disbelief. “The first village?”
“Why not?” Gai beamed. “I know how to read, and even though you haven’t taught Kakashi he has learned how to read.”
“Your friend is rather… talented.”
“He’s the smartest person I know after you, Sebsei.”
Shaking his head, Choza-Sensei pointed towards a bookshelf in the left corner of the shop. “The newest books are there,” he explained. “Why don’t you go pick one out?”
Gai didn’t need to be told twice. With his objective in mind he headed straight for the bookshelf that he’d been directed towards and began to look through all of the options, and there were a lot of options.
History of Samurai.
Gai’s fingers lingered over the soft green cover, but the title didn’t intrigue him at all. He’d learned a bit about Samurai from his Sensei but they never seemed as cool as the Shinobi of old times.
Winter’s Kiss
He cringes at the name. Whatever the story is about doesn’t matter because the author’s choice in title has already told him all he needs to know about the book and he is not interested.
Rain: Fables of the God of Storm
Gai’s hand stops. He’s not sure why, but as soon as he sees that title he knows he has to have the book. What’s even weirder is that the first thing he thinks of is Kakashi.
The friend he has had since he was a child. Who always seems to appear right when Gai needs him, and is always gone whenever any of the adults arrive to get Gai.
It’s only because of his guards that anyone believes his friend exists. They have seen Kakashi running around the garden’s with him laughing. They’ve heard his laugh and watched as he led Gai out into the rain for the first time when he was ten.
“Rain,” he whispers to himself, wondering if that’s why he’s so intrigued by the book. Taking hold of it, he pulled it out of the bookshelf and turned it over in his hand so he could see the front. Like every other book there was little more than the title and the author’s name, but Gai also noticed one small detail that set it apart from all of the other books.
A little pug dog on the bottom right corner. One that looked almost exactly like the pug that seemed to follow Kakashi everywhere he went.
“Gai?” Turning around in his spot, he smiled over at his Sensei. “Have you chosen a book already?”
One last look at the book and Gai’s convinced. It’s the one he has to have. The book that he can not only enjoy on his own, but which he can share with his best friend.
The perfect book.
“I have,” he confirmed, clutching the book to his chest as he made his way back to his Sensei’s side. “I would like this one, please.”
Choza-sensei peered down at the book in his hands, a smile stretching across his lips when he read the title. “You do seem to have quite the fondness for old fables.”
A fact Gai would never deny. He wasn’t sure what it was about all those old stories of God’s and hero’s, but he adored them. Perhaps because his father used to tell him some of the old stories at bedtime when he was growing up, or maybe because Choza-sensei always seemed to tell them with such passione that he couldn’t help but become captivated by them.
Maybe it was because he’d noticed how much Kakashi loved hearing him retelling the old fables whenever they were hanging out. How his friend would smile a little bit softer, or laugh a little louder whenever Gai reenacted the adventures of those old Hero’s.
Whatever it was, Gai knew he had to have this book.
It was the only one he wanted among all the options in front of him, and he couldn’t wait to share it with Kakashi.

Naruto was finally back after two years of training with Jiraiya. Being one of his closest friends, you were excited to meet him and to see for yourself how much he’s grown.
Naturally, you challenged him to a duel the first time you saw him again. It was kind of your thing with Naruto — competing with each other on who’s faster, stronger, better in ninjutsu, anything really. Mainly because Sasuke, who he often referred to as his rival, would rarely indulge him with such things, and you did. You were both competitive like that.
In no time, you were both alone on the training grounds. You could already tell how drastic his improvements were within the start of the battle.
You were in awe at how the Legendary Sannins could bring out the best in their apprentices. But despite not being trained by them, that didn’t mean you were lagging behind.
In those two years when Sasuke seeked Orochimaru for power, Naruto trained under Jiraiya, and Sakura learned from Tsunade, you were the only one in Team 7 who remained under the supervision of Kakashi sensei.
Kakashi sensei may not be a Legendary Sannin, but he was a formidable shinobi — one of the best during his generation even. However, truthfully, he infuriated you at first, not because of how late he always was — you were pretty used to it to the point that you don’t question him anymore about his whereabouts and he stopped coming up with excuses as to why he was late — but because there were times when he was too laidback.
Sure, there were moments when he was hands-on: teaching you different jutsus, lecturing you about certain concepts, informing you on what you should always look out for, drilling your body past exhaustion, and the like. But more often than not he would be saying something like, “Find it out yourself” or “I can’t exactly tell you how” as he leisurely sits on a tree branch while reading the stupid Icha Icha books.
You were dumbfounded and furious at first but when your initial annoyance subsided and you had adjusted to his teaching style, you flourished.
That’s why you could take on Naruto even after his training with Jiraiya.
What started as a serious duel between you and Naruto was reduced to playful banter the longer the fight dragged on. At one point, both of you would just tease each other while throwing kicks and punches halfheartedly.
Both of you had your guards down. That was a mistake on your part, because just as Naruto aimed to kick your face and you bent over backwards to dodge it, you slipped. You lost your footing all because of a rock situated near your right foot.
It was a rookie mistake.
Naruto was quick to notice that you were falling so he immediately grabbed ahold of your hand. The problem was he failed to pull you back up. So you ended up falling down with him. And somehow, he ended up with his arms on the sides of your head so he wouldn’t crush you as you were underneath him.
You were both shocked. You were just blinking at each other. It took awhile for the two of you to gather your bearings. When you did, you both immediately laughed out loud. Naruto moved his body so he was lying next to you as you both continued laughing your hearts out.
“What the hell was that, Naruto?!” You feigned exasperation. “You wouldn’t be able to save a fly if you tried.”
“At least I wasn’t the one making rookie mistakes like that,” Naruto shot back. “Plus I tried to help, that’s what matters.”
You snorted. “Yeah, right. You could’ve at least focused your chakra on your soles so we didn’t fall!”
“And you could’ve paid attention to your surroundings, Y/N!”
You bickered with each other as you stood up and helped Naruto get up. What the two of you didn’t know was that your boyfriend Neji had watched the whole incident.
Neji wasn’t really the type to get jealous. He’s a very understanding boyfriend. He’s aware that you and Naruto have been best friends even before he met you. He even knew about Naruto’s feelings for Sakura. However, any sane person wouldn’t want to see his significant other beneath someone else, right? Granted, it was an accident, but still… It was such a compromising position to find you in.
He made his appearance as you playfully punched Naruto in the gut.
You instantly noticed him approaching. Your smile widened even more at the sight of your boyfriend. “Neji!” You called, skipping your way towards him. You would’ve tackled him in a hug if Naruto wasn’t around.
He maintained his stoic expression as he greeted, “Y/N. Naruto.”
“Oi Neji, it’s been a while,” Naruto waved.
Neji only gave a curt nod in response.
You asked, “What are you doing here, Neji?” but just as you ended your question, the answer immediately clicked on your mind. “Oh my god, I’m sorry I forgot!”
Over your excitement of Naruto’s arrival, you forgot that it was a Tuesday. Tuesdays were your lunch dates and sparring sessions with Neji.
“It’s okay.”
“Hold on.” you told him and then faced Naruto. “Gotta go, Naruto! Bye!” you said as you grabbed Neji’s hand out of habit.
Neji flushed, not exactly expecting your action, but you didn’t notice because it was something that you’re used to doing, although not in the presence of someone else.
“See you later!” Naruto waved.
When Naruto was out of sight, you dropped Neji’s hand unconsciously. “Sorry, I forgot about lunch. What time is it? Have you eaten?” You asked Neji.
He quickly responded and told you he hasn’t eaten anything yet.
“Well then, let’s go. I’m starving.”
Neji and you walked side by side out of the training grounds.
“So…” you started saying.
Neji stared at you. “Hm?”
“How was your day, baby?”
He cleared his throat and looked away almost instantly. Very rarely would one find Neji flustered, but calling him “baby” always worked. He wasn’t quite used to the endearment and every time you addressed him as such with tenderness laced in your voice, he would blush. You use it all the time just to see his cheeks tinted pink. It was a cute sight.
“What’s wrong?” You playfully asked while trying to get into his line of vision.
He refused to meet your gaze until he regained his composure. When he did, he told you — in an impassive manner — what he had done in the morning before he went out looking for you.
Despite his expressionless face and his rather hushed tone, you listened intently to the words he was saying, the smile on your lips never leaving your face. Neji was a man of few words even until now that you were together so you made sure you paid attention every time he spoke, not wanting his words to go to waste.
He wouldn’t admit it to you but he loved that about you. You would remember even the little details of his stories, which in itself was a big deal considering you tend to forget a lot of things. You treasured his words, sentences, thoughts, ideas and plans, and kept them enclosed in your memory.
Neji loved that you focused on him. You made him feel like he was important and worthy, and that he mattered, in a completely different way than the others’ view of him.
The others only saw him as important because he was an asset both to the Hyuga clan and to Konoha. He only mattered to them because he has the strength and ability to protect them.
But you didn’t see him that way. You saw him as his own person — a man with a brilliant mind, a great moral compass, and a heart of gold. This was further confirmed when you told him that if his circumstances were different — if he was not a Hyuga or even a shinobi — you’d still fall in love with him as long as his character remained the same.
He knew you love him, there was no doubt about that. It was known; it was an irrefutable truth, an indisputable fact. But why did seeing you with Naruto trigger his insecurities that you had previously put to rest?
His mind was reeling, but he tried his hardest to be in the moment with you.
The thing was, he might have misread you a little. Because the attention that you gave him wasn’t solely focused on his words. In actuality, it extended to his actions and mannerisms as well.
This was how you knew that there was something that was bothering Neji today.
Unwelcome thoughts swarmed his mind, leading him to absentmindedly reach out to you. He was walking beside you closer than usual, with his hand on your lower back. While there was no doubt that he was listening to you when it was your turn to tell him about your day with Naruto, he had a faraway, vacant look on his face.
You may have missed the presence of a rock a while ago, but you certainly wouldn’t miss these small details about Neji.
These might come across as something normal for other people, but for someone like you who dedicated a lot of time admiring and memorizing every little detail of the certain Hyuga boy, it was easy to tell that something was on his mind from the way he was taking up a portion of your personal space. Almost as if his own restrictions were non-existent.
Normally, it would’ve been easier to confront him about it, but you were a shinobi, and if there’s something you learned from Kakashi sensei, it was that you have to gather more intel before actually making a move.
But you could only think of one way to confirm if there was something bothering your partner, and it was through his hair.
On regular days, Neji wouldn’t allow anyone to touch his hair, including you. But when there was something that was bothering him, or if he had a particularly rough day, he wouldn’t mind it if you threaded your fingers through his hair. In fact, he wouldn’t admit it, but he preferred it if you did that. It was something that calmed him down.
So while you continued telling him how your day went, you subtly angled your body towards him. Then you tentatively reached for the tips of his hair with your hand that was closest to him. You managed to grab a few strands of his hair between your thumb and index finger. You twisted them between your fingers.
You looked up to him to check if he was bothered by it, but it seemed like he didn’t mind at all. This certainly meant that his mind was elsewhere, despite the fact that he was nodding in the right parts of your speech and even correcting you when you used the wrong word to describe something.
You retracted your hand after coming up with your conclusion. You even stopped talking as you were thinking of what could’ve happened for him to be this distracted. Neji didn’t even notice you stopped talking mid sentence.
Somehow this just felt different from the times he was frustrated or anxious before, and quite frankly, you were worried.
By the time you had both placed orders and seated in a random restaurant, you decided to confront your partner. “So, Neji, baby, are you going to tell me what’s bothering you?”
He choked on nothing after hearing your question. Was he really that easy to read? Or was it easy just because it was you reading him?
He cleared his throat and feigned ignorance, “What are y-you talking about?”
You opted to give him a pointed look instead of a verbal response.
He didn’t stare back, looking anywhere but you. Most times, Neji would face you head on until you conceded; with you, he was comfortable being stubborn and unyielding because it came without repercussions. But today, he wasn’t up for the challenge. And if you looked more closely, he was once again sporting a faint color on his cheeks.
You waited a moment for him to answer, or at least to look back, but it was to no avail. With a sigh, you said, with the softest tone you could muster partnered with a reassuring smile, “Would you let me know when you’re ready, at least?”
Surprisingly, Neji looked at you then. “It’s nothing… It’s just… something silly.”
You gently grabbed a hold of his hand. “Don’t tell me it’s silly, I know it isn’t if it bothers you, baby. You don’t have to tell me now if you aren’t comfortable yet, hmm? Just know I’ll be here to listen to you.” You gave him a genuine smile and a small squeeze to his hand before letting go.
Neji’s eyes hadn’t strayed from then onwards. He had to admit sometimes he would forget how incredibly kindhearted you were, even more so when it came to him. You always made sure he was comfortable. You never forced him into doing or saying things that he wasn’t ready to do or say. You allowed him to make his own decisions and respected them, something that rarely came from being a subordinate of Konoha and a member of the branch family of the Hyuga clan.
Life as a shinobi was sometimes constricting, but you were his breather from all that.
It was your turn to be bashful from his stare. You could feel your face warming up from the unexpected, scrutinizing gaze. “Neji, stop it.”
“What?”
“Stop looking at me like that.”
“Stop being beautiful, then.”
The words that came out of Neji’s lips startled you. It wasn’t everyday he would actually use words to tell you you’re beautiful. The way he expressed his appreciation to your beauty would come in the form of fluttering kisses or gentle brushes on your body parts — coincidentally, or not, on parts where you feel the most insecure about.
Fortunately for you, the food came at the right moment, since you weren’t exactly sure how to respond to his unexpected compliment. You both ate in silence then, occasionally peeking at each other  — almost like how it was when you first started dating each other.
When you were done with lunch, you expected to take the route towards the training grounds like you both usually did, but Neji’s hand has taken solace on your back once again and this time with intent to guide you to a different direction.
You were confused but you followed anyway. “Where are we going?”
“To my place.” A pause. “Is that fine with you?”
“Sure” was all you could say. Admittedly, you were quite tired from the duel you had with Naruto earlier and you didn’t really have enough energy to spar with Neji, considering he never went easy on you.
By the time you had entered his place, he graciously offered his couch to you, as if sensing your exhaustion. You immediately plopped down on his couch after setting aside your footwear by his front door.
“Tired?”
“Very,” you mumbled.
He handed you a glass of water, knowing you weren’t quite fond of tea. He sat down beside you just as you thanked him and sipped on your drink.
Setting aside the glass, you leaned back on the couch, only to be welcomed by Neji’s arms. A small smile automatically crept into your lips from the gesture. You snuggled into him as a reflex.
It was moments like this with Neji that you treasured most. While you enjoyed tagging around with him and the rest of Team Guy on missions, you preferred spending time with him peacefully like this, without the imminent threat of danger looming over your heads. It was rather a rare occurrence, after all, for two shinobis like you both were.
Neji was first to break the comfortable silence. “I saw you with Naruto a while ago.”
“You did? When?” You excitedly asked while trying to pull away from his embrace to look directly to his face. But for some reason, he kept you in place, your cheek pressed to his neck. “Did you see me kick his ass? Like literally.”
“Yes,” he answered flatly. It was a response that sounded so… dry. Usually when you both talked about Naruto, there would be a fondness from his tone. “But… I also saw something else…” he trailed off.
You raked your mind, trying to remember what had happened earlier. Then the memory of falling down flashed on your mind, and suddenly you felt embarrassed for Neji having to witness such a mistake. “Oh no!” You jumped out of his grasp, startling him in the process. “You saw me fall down! That’s so embarrassing!” You covered your face with your palms.
“Well, yes… but—”
You snapped your head at the tone he used. He didn’t sound like he was going to tease you for your mistake, in fact, it kind of sounded like he was worried.
“I’m fine though, if you’re worried,” you offered, assuming he thought you got hurt from the fall.
“I’m glad you are not hurt,” he said. Not long after you noticed him visibly gulping.
You could tell there was something else in his mind, and whatever it was, you had a feeling it might’ve been the thing that was bothering him a while ago. You tried to come up with guesses as to what it could’ve been. As you recalled how the conversation started and considered how he was acting, a plausible answer popped into your mind.
“Are you perhaps… jealous?” You hesitantly asked. He was the first one to initiate this conversation so you were assuming he was ready to talk about it. Despite that though, you didn’t want to force him to talk so you carefully and reluctantly asked him. He was always allowed to drop the topic if he wasn’t comfortable and he knew that.
Neji cleared his throat as soon as the words left your mouth all the while avoiding to meet your eyes once again. “Maybe,” he almost inaudibly said.
You were surprised by his answer. It wasn’t always that Neji got jealous. The only time he was was when a stranger was blatantly hitting on you in front of him while you were on a mission together.
“It did not sit right with me seeing you in an… inappropriate position with someone else.” He explained. The tone he used sounded like the one he used with the Hokage when he was taking responsibility for something that went horribly wrong on a mission.
“Don’t make it sound like it’s wrong,” you said softly as you cupped his face. “You don’t have to feel guilty about feeling jealous. Your feelings are valid.”
The gentleness and warmth in your voice made his heart flutter. If this was a conversation with someone else, he was sure he was going to get teased for feeling this way, but it was with you, and you had always been different.
“I love you, Neji,” you said before you kissed his lips.
It was amazing how the three words you used that preceded his name could easily wipe out the jealousy that had brewed inside him. This was another testament of how well you knew Neji — not only did you know the small details about him, but you also know the right words to ease his worries.

I've been thinking about these 3 alot...
Tumblr media
... and how much they seem to really respect Shino. I know it's a filler, but, like... Why does it seem like Shino has a knack for finding children who have wondered off away from school? Like, he's just taking a walk, making his way around the village or surrounding forest, and then there they are. Kids playing hooky or some shit. And Shino just takes it upon himself to approach them and steer them back to where they should be, while getting them attached to him somehow in the process??
But honestly. If this was just one of many times this had happened, I'd say Shino does this not out of his knack for teaching or having a way with kids. Rather, he developed a way with kids and easily applies that to his teaching because he has a strong desire to simply protect children. And it's not even from some paternal instinct as much as survival, because I think it stems from the developing trauma of losing Torune to Danzo. And I don't think it's all subconscious either.
Like I know the novel and anime frames his desicion to teach as a sort of a new goal in life as the war has ended for a couple years already and a noticable Peace has been achieved by the Blank Period and well... He's an Aburame.
Like, the Aburame are literal living, breathing, walking bioweapons. With no fight to utilize that, what else is there? Well, much like the Nara have the Nara forest and Pharmacology specifically, The Aburame most likely have a historical stake in the area of Konoha, perhaps it was simply in their Ancestral Home. Idk, but they're here to stay, they ain't budging. They're Clan Culture is very Martial and I'd argue Spartan in nature, but otherwise, they do other things too. I think they'd do well as major players in the conservation and research of native species of animals and plants, but definitely insects too. I bet they play a huge part in the general area's ecosystem, especially due to the fact that the Kamizuru clan attacked with a whole clan's worth of non-native Hymenoptera that could very well have become and still are an irritatingly and consistent problem as invasive species tend to be. And as a far as goods go, why not put some of them to use and handle an apiary? Honey is a great good to sell. All of this is great as a clan that no longer needs to fight. But, what about individual members in general, and so Shino?
Well Shino is the Heir of this clan. This Noble Clan. This "ready to throw hands at any moment" clan. It's future is in his hands, so to speak. So I doubt Shino would completely sever his connection to Shinobi life all together. And so, teaching at the Academy would be a great way to keep that connection. Teachers have to know their stuff, after all.
But what if in order to ensure teaching was his calling, Shino did his absolute best to make Jounin ASAP so he could take on a Genin Team. And. And by chance, it ended up being these three?? And they are absolutely STOKED!!! And they also pass Shino's genin test, which... would probably be a feat in it's own right. But they already know Shino, and Shino has bestowed upon them some wisdom they actually took to heart! Yeah, well, in reality they might be just a tad too old to be Shino's first official genin squad, but they were still his squad one point in a sense, right?
Tumblr media
Kon Nohara, Tano Ikemoto, and Aoki Kobayashi
I even gave them names help Imagine these three are already chuunin at least and decide they want to pay Shino a visit and even volunteer to help Shino during class time on a collective day off because they admire him so much (T~T)
But even then if not these three kiddos, maybe these three li'l shits lol
Tumblr media
Even in times of Peace, Shino's special set of skills seem too useful to waste, and being a Jounin teacher would definitely have been a way he could still go on missions, but also definitely commit to becoming a Sensei at the academy once he was 100% sure and got older. Kurenai became a Jounin/Genin Squad Leader in her late twenties, but in comparison I see Shino doing that more mid-20s. (He needs some time to travel and find his big bug friend and generally live a little?)
Tumblr media
Kurenai was a Genjutsu Specialist who manned a Tracker/Sensing based team. This sounds like it was a highly beneficial combination, even if she ended up being somewhat sadistic lol. Asuma was bound to Team 10 by Tradition as InoShikaCho and Sarutobi have that Pact together. Kakashi's team was literally Cherry Picked for him specifically by the 3rd Hokage. And Gai, a Taijutsu Specialist, had a team that Specialized in Taijutsu and Physical Offense.
Of all four teams, Kurenai and Gai were very suited to their teams, Gai in a complimentary way and Kurenai in a Challenging way. In that same vein, I think Shino would imitate Gai. Shino as a Shinobi himself has a general set of skills, but the way he goes about them are very niche. But, he was always very stealthy, and could sneak up on nearly anyone. Gags aside, he could go unnoticed as long as he wanted too, and by the time he was noticed or was ready to attack, he has you quite literally surrounded. Honestly I can see why Search and Destroy would be an Aburame's forte, but when there's no need, a person with a personal skill of high quality stealth could probably man a team with an emphasis on Reconnaissance and/or Surveillance, even Bodyguarding. I feel like Shino would probably put an emphasis on Stealth and Tracking too, utilizing his insects as sort of assistants that keep tabs on his students (Stealth Test) as well as to encourage just enough fear during too much down time in his students to inspire quality training opportunities, so maybe Kurenai rubbed off on Shino more than they all realized haha
(Plus I'm sure his students would be be smart and thoughtful enough to eventually understand what Shino and his bugs are: a complete unit. They realize just how strong and dedicated Sensei really is to be the way he is, and they all learn more in depth about Kikaichu and it's like WOW SENSEI YOU REALLY ARE RISKING BEING EATEN ALIVE EVERY SINGLE DAY, AREN'T YOU? But he's still here, because THAT'S how strong he's become over the years and the confidence to manipulate the Kikaichu while having to think of current chakra level, the most efficient use at any given time, how many he actually needs, how long usage will last, ect. They are high maintenance, man!)
Shino would no doubt produce highly skilled Bodyguards and Masters of Stealth. Maybe the type that would end up being in high demand for the eventual Celebrities that start to pop up as times change, but still very much needed when it comes to Criminal Activity, like in Sora-Ku?
But as time passes and he decided to teach at the Academy, he'd feel very at ease to do so. He'd be happy to be put in charge of all these children, because he would be able to help teach them things they need to know to defend themselves and others in a world where adults like Danzo had and will continue to exist. Maybe while he's at it, he'd use his stance as a Noble Clan Heir and accomplished Shinobi to push for changes in government with Sai's help and with Naruto and Shikamaru's cooperation? Like, the truth does come out, everyone on the Council were actually horrible and had too much power. So HERE are some ideas and REASONS why these ideas should be implemented because Shino's not going to let his brother's life and death be in vain!? HELL no, we WILL make some changes around here. Shino sees his students and just wants a future where no kid ever has to live in fear of being completely taken advantage of by the very system that was supposed to keep them safe and they pledged allegiance to.
Tumblr media
I cannot help but think of the quiet but absolute fear little Shino was harboring for the years to come after Torune was taken by that strange man and Father Shibi didn't even attempt to stop him. His own father didn't dare beat the shit out of this strange man who came looking for him, and the only solution for Shino to stay was for Torune to make himself look more desirable as an asset and be taken instead. I bet there was a lot of misplaced resentment there for a while, and talks that just didn't happen. Maybe a classmate doesn't show up to class one day and Shino is IMMEDIATELY stressed out and just... takes it upon himself to look for them after class. And he's relieved when he see they're simply at home with a fever. Shit like that just fucks with Shino, because theres people taking kids and no one is doing anything about it?? And then as Shino grew older he realized exactly what happened and how slimy the machine of Konoha really is and it was never completely Shibi's fault that Torune had to leave. He grows mentally at a faster rate than most of his classmates, and knows more than a kid really needs to know.
Shino doesn't want that for any other child. Shino is the kind of person who hears kids screaming outside of his house and he can't tell if they're playing or being murdered and it's stressful to the point he'll check through his window and he sees them for himself. He get stressed out seeing a kid in public unattended and WANTS to approach them to help if need be but also maybe he's overthinking it and the parents are there somewhere and he'd just end up looking suspicious. Like, that's what I kind of figure for Shino. He's so hyperaware of the power dynamic between kids and adults and seeing a kid so ready to fall victim to that makes Shino feel ill the more he thinks of what could happen. And he wonders if watching the kid in the market until they finally reunite with their parent so he could move on with the rest of his day causes him even a fraction of the the utterly disgusting flurry of nerves and fear that Shibi must have felt all those years ago. It goes along with his desire to spare every single little insect's life he can. It goes a long with the fact he only gets violent unless absolutely necessary. Like he wants to be strong but he doesn't want to go mad with power either, less he becomes the very thing that hurt him and his family in the first place.
Tumblr media
Originally Shino wanted to become strong to be able to defend himself because at a very young age adults failed him and Torune. But then that changes to defend not only himself, but others as he grows on a team, and realizes trust is important. And then he figured if there must be adults out there that would hurt a child, it's only logical that he should become one that would only nurture and teach one to be strong as well.
Anyway, yeah. Had some feelings. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

I have been reading your blog for the past few days and I absolutely love it! Is it okay if I request Modern S/o from a Modern World with Yandere! Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, since we have already have Hashirama and the other 2 with Mordern S/o, also take your time!
So many modern reader😂. I didn’t try to get too much into detail with how they would share a darling since I got a request about that as well.
Tw: Yandere themes, unhealthy mindset, unhealthy relationship, delusional thoughts, possessiveness, obsessiveness, vicious behavior, violence, kidnapping
modern s/o
Tumblr media
🍜💙🌸Due to Sasuke needing a lot of time when falling for someone, you most likely appeared during the Team 7 days, when all three of them were still genin. They most likely discovered you together with Kakashi one day on a mission, finding a young you all by yourself and looking obviously flabbergasted and shocked when being found by them.
🍜💙🌸And they of course helped you, realizing that you were lost and their Sensei offering you to lead you home if you would tell them where you lived. You on the other hand just stared back and forth between him, Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke before muttering something from if you were dreaming, pinching yourself to make sure you weren’t dreaming and that this was reality. After painfully discovering that this was indeed real you wanted to be 100% sure, asking if they were Kakashi Hatake, Sakura Haruno, Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha.
🍜💙🌸Whilst you might have known Kakashi as the famous copy cat, they were all surprised when you knew the names of his pupils. You were pretty far away from their village, making the possibility that you knew them from there very little. It led to Kakashi suddenly getting a weird feeling, his intuition telling him that something wasn’t right here. So he asked you once again from where you were, leading to you explaining yourself. And knowing that they would most likely not believe you without proof, you also used your phone, showing them that you weren’t lying.
🍜💙🌸You were like this brought with them together to the Village, Kakashi deciding that you wouldn’t be safe all out there on your own and if someone would find out about you, you could become very dangerous for them. And just like that you were introduced to the Third Hokage who you showed your proof as well, amusing him greatly that in his old life he was still able to witness something like this. A dimension traveler, how utterly fascinating.
🍜💙🌸But he understood why Kakashi had brought you with him. You had explained after all that in your world their whole story was all written down as a “Manga” and could also be watched as an “Anime”. In short, you knew what would happen in the next few years, knowing what abilities someone would possess in the future and what secrets there were. It made you very valuable and if people like Orochimaru would find out about you, you were doomed. And they would be as well if Orochimaru would find a way to press everything you could possibly offer out of him.
🍜💙🌸So you were most likely given a apartment, most likely near Naruto, and were given permission to live in the village. It was also decided that Kakashi should teach you a bit how to fight, also finding out whether you possessed chakra or not. This was made a secret between you, the Third Hokage and Team 7, all promising to not tell anyone.
🍜💙🌸It should come to no one’s surprise that Team 7 naturally grew closer to you overtime since they had found you and were one of the very few who knew about this secret. So they became quickly your best friends.
🍜And Naruto was the first one who developed some more unhealthy feelings for you, openly displaying his big crush on you and making it obvious for everyone that he liked you. For the reason that you never seemed to make fun of him and always cheered him on, not thinking of him as a monster like many others or just an annoying little brat. Much more on the contrary, you always told him that he would be very strong one day. And you had to know it the best. Since you two lived directly next to each other, sleepovers and just spending every evening time together became somewhat a normality to you two, allowing Naruto to grow closer to you. His obsessive tendencies grew stronger due to the fact that you were from another world and he often begged you to tell him more about your world, listening in awe whenever you did tell him.
💙Surprised by who became Yandere next? I’ll explain later on to why not Sakura. Let’s face it, Sasuke was most likely annoyed when first finding you which might have changed quite a bit after finding out who exactly you were. He knew that you weren’t allowed to talk about it, but it did happen quite a few times that he asked you direct questions about his future and you just told him that he would later on become one of the most powerful shinobi which led to Sasuke hanging out more around you, hoping to squeeze something more out of you. What powers exactly would he gain? Would he meet his brother? How could he reach that point of being one of the strongest ninja to exist? Sasuke would keep it more subtle with his feelings even though his possessiveness was most likely triggered due to knowing that Naruto liked you as well, leading often to snarky comments from him when Naruto was all over you.
🌸Sakura was at first just your best friend for a rather simple reason. At that time she still had a crush on Sasuke and also saw that Naruto liked you a lot. And she cared for Naruto a lot, leading to her being glad that he had finally someone who seemed to understand and support him and she became a huge Naruto x (y/n) shipper. Sasuke is a lot more subtle with his signs that he likes you, but Sakura is very observant when it comes to those she’s close and will notice the way Sasuke keeps looking jealous and annoyed whenever Naruto tugs you away or tries to show off in front of you or the way he seems to tolerate you more than others. Even the way he displays a bit more softness with you which will lead her to feel a bit more conflicted, realizing that you are stuck in a love triangle. But different than with Ino she won’t suddenly start disliking you since she also sees that you keep pushing Sasuke away, most likely because you know that Sakura likes him and take that into reconsideration. You also support her just like Naruto all the time, knowing that she’ll later on become one of the strongest kunoichi to exist.
🍜💙🌸After Tsunade was made the next Hokage, she and Tsunade were informed about your secret as well in order to be able to keep in mind that you were somewhat of a special case.
🍜💙When Sasuke left the Leaf Village he might or might not have tried to take you with him, but since I need you here so Sakura can form her obsession, he failed. Even if he would have managed to take you out of the village, we all know that the with Naruto robbed him temporarily all his power, giving you the chance to free yourself and run. The fight between those two would be in general a lot more vicious than it would have been without you. Sasuke had pent-up frustration inside of him due to the fact that Naruto had gotten so strong, him fearing that Naruto might be one day able to beat him. Not only that, but Naruto also liked you a lot, more than a lot and this poured only even more gasoline in his fire since Sasuke had only you left. And now that blonde idiot was starting to become stronger and the strongest wins always in the end. He despised the thought that he could lose to Naruto. And our sunshine boy was mad as well that Sasuke had dared to kidnap you.
💙And so there is a chance that due to Sasuke’s betrayal another person found out, Orochimaru. He most likely sensed during the Chunin Exams that something about you was different. You didn’t participate or anything, but he kept an eye on you because Sasuke was really close to you and what better way to get his hands on Sasuke than blackmailing him and manipulating him with the one he loves dearly? I can even see him as someone who lit the hatred for Naruto inside of him when he noticed Sasuke’s growing jealousy. Would he seriously let such a weakling like Naruto get his darling? And with Orochimaru finding out this situation will become a bit twisted since Orochimaru will form an obsession with you as well for pure egotistical reasons. He wants to know all the secret and just now a mystery bigger than everything else he witnessed in his life so far was offered to him. So he would be all up for kidnapping you as soon as the chance is there.
🍜If we go with the theory that Sasuke did manage to kidnap you, but you were saved, Naruto would afterwards be so incredibly apologetic and feel guilty for not coming to rescue you sooner, adding even more pressure and misery onto him next to the fact that he already didn’t manage to save Sasuke. But he was also incredibly glad that you were now back, due to the shock most likely clinging terribly onto you afterwards and not leaving you alone until he left with Jiraiya, giving you into Sakura’s care for the time being.
🌸Do you remember my Naruto and Sakura sharing a darling post? It would be exactly the same to that. Sakura spent the next few years training with Tsunade and also dedicating a lot of her time with you. And it was during these years that she started developing feelings for you. The betrayal of Sasuke hurt her a lot and she also felt terrible for what you had to endure due to Sasuke’s selfish act, you were her best friend after all. You could say that after this she finally opened her eyes a bit, realizing that Sasuke wasn’t the perfect man she had always pictured in her head. It was somewhat of a wake-up call, and suddenly she realized how kind you had been to her all this time, making her feel appreciated, a feeling she hadn’t experienced so far that often. She grew very close to you and when realizing her feelings she was totally embarrassed as well as ashamed since everyone knew about you and Naruto. You were unofficially together at this point. It gave her a lot of mood swings since at one day she was on cloud nine and the next felt like hiding in a hole out of shame.
🍜🌸When Naruto came back, Sakura most likely told him about her feelings, a big sign of how close her bond with him was. And whilst Naruto was at first a bit conflicted about this, he and Sakura came eventually to the terms of sharing.
💙Sasuke on the other hand trained in order to kill his brother and get rid of Naruto with the ultimate end goal of finally getting you back in his clutches. He had started feeling incredibly lonely without you, the emptiness inside of him really getting to him. If we do go with the scenario where Orochimaru ended up finding the truth out about you, he would want to meet you as well. Not only are you interesting for him because you’re the person Sasuke’s in love with, but you’re also a dimension traveler. He does try to ask Sasuke a bit out about you, but whenever Sasuke shoots him this glare it’s obvious to him that he won’t talk. If Sasuke does manage to kidnap you, he wouldn’t let Orochimaru touch you without losing it. He knows how Orochimaru ticks and is just disgusted by this. Would be really pissed off the moment he finds out that Sakura is now in love with you too. He used to be annoyed by her because she was in love with him, now he’s mad that she loves you and shares with Naruto.
🍜💙🌸Sharing a darling is not necessarily easy for Sasuke as long as he isn’t really close to that person or it isn’t his brother. All free of them most likely started sharing after the war was over and Sasuke was forgiven his crimes. It would settle for quite the turbulent relationship because Naruto and Sasuke would constantly get into fights and it’ll be yours and Sakura’s job to separate them. More to that when I start the sharing a darling post. I don’t want to only repeat myself.
🍜💙🌸All three of them wouldn’t travel with you back to your world if there should be a chance. I do think that Naruto and Sakura would display a certain degree of curiosity in it whilst Sasuke would be more annoyed about it. But all of them would still stay in their world since all of them are dedicated to something in their world. That also means all of them will stop you if you should try to escape them by fleeing back into your world.

PREGNANCY —» headcanons —» NaruHina Week Day 6
Tumblr media
Boruto pregnancy was completely unplanned like Naruto and Hinata were enjoying their honeymoon phase ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) when boom! Here comes a baby!
Nevertheless, they were super duper happy esp Naruto...
Oh, man! He announced it to the whole of Konoha like a message blast
And trust me, it reached Suna in a matter of a heartbeat
Kurenai-sensei helped the couple a lot with the pregnancy know-how
The two bought a lot of books and read them together as pastime, though Naruto always fell asleep
Naruto was more pregnant than Hinata, as expected
He puked with her in the mornings and eat the same diet she’s eating
Oh! He’s also craving the same food she’s craving.
And it all started with the burger Konohamaru brought them one day
The preggy couple became a fan and they binged ate burgers from that period on
There were times when Naruto’s tummy will churn with irrational need for burger while away from a mission (he won’t tell Boruto this bc ramen supremacy)
Then, he thought of his wife and he worried that she might be hungry
And like regular couples, there goes the legendary preggy mood swings
Overprotective husbando mode on!
Will never allow Hinata to do anything at all! It’s very exaggerated at first that it caused them cute little bickering
Although, they would have small banters here and there sometimes (mostly because Naruto would be super OA about everything) they still seemed so cute
It’s the very first time Hinata acted pouty and childish
At first, Naruto was scaredt
Next time around, he found her entertaining
They’re just so cuuuute
With proper assurance, Naruto seemed to understand...uh, a little?
Well, he allowed her household chores at least with the exception of carrying grocery bags, and other heavy loads (also add the harsh scrubbing)
His shadow clones would always help around (much to Hinata’s dismay sometimes tbh)
He did his best so Kakashi won’t give Hinata any more missions
Hinata ended up bored af, so she beautified their home and took her damn precious time decorating it
Let’s talk about how she made cute plushies while she’s pregnant!
Yes, Hinata thought that her baby might like something cuddly to be with, so she made plushies while waiting for Naruto to come back home from his missions 🐰 🐸
Naruto would always bring Hinata treats and trinkets from his missions too!!!
Even when her tummy was still small, he would cling around her belly, try to listen and would baby-talk the baby inside 🥺
Naruto would be surprised and happy to see his home now well-decorated, cute and all
Now, he’s more than dedicated to perfect the nursery
You might expect that the moment they had Hima would be a lot more peaceful but heck! Think again!
Boruto was a big momma’s boi so he hogged her attention
And he’s one big ball of energetic cuteness
Narudad was stressedt af when he saw his son clinging to the curtain like a cat while hinamom was (happily) trying to carry him, while she’s pregnant
Again Naruto went double panic mode!
However, he can’t even stay mad at his young baby Boruto bc he cute af
Like he’s going to reprimand the baby boy but bby’s gonna crawl and climb his leg, saying “Papa, papa”
C’mon!!!!!!!!
Hinata was happy to see all this. Like, this is my family, y’all!
Needless to say, it was a repeat performance of the last time only that they had another harbinger of chaos around to bring joy

Kohona’s Tree
For Shikasaku Week 2020 @shikasaku-week
Day 8 - we are ruins
Ao3
Kohona’s Tree
There’s a well-hidden tree in Konoha that belongs to many. Hashirama claimed it as his own as he learned his Mokuton under its branches, named the village while hanging from the limbs, and married Mito under its bloom. Kushina called it her own as she mediated in the shade talking to Kurama, asked out Minato under falling leaves, and told him about her pregnancy under the new bloom. It was here where Kakashi met Pakkun, Itachi met Shushi, Tsunade gave Nawaki their grandfather’s necklace, and many other wonderful things happened.
It was under this tree that Shikamaru hid from the harsh rays of the sun when there were no clouds to watch. On days too cloudy to tell where one cloud started and another one ended, naps were taken among the roots that would shift to make the coziest bed. When school was too troublesome, he would drag a shogi board to the tree to replay his latest loss against his dad. Rarely, the branches saw bags of chips shared with Choji or the heard the rumors spread by Ino. For the tree was Shikamaru’s solitude from the world.
Then Kohona crushed happened, and Shikamaru dressed in his Chunin vest was relieved to see his tree still standing and the tree was glad to see Shikamaru still lazy. Soon the tree watched the laziness turn into determination. No longer was the shade used to laze in, but instead it was used to it to practice his shadow techniques. Each day after a failed mission, Shikamaru vowed to himself and to the tree to never let his friends get hurt again because of his failures. The tree impressed with his resolve decided to bless Shikamaru with a gift. Shadows reached out to touch him and deer migrated closer to his home but Shikamaru never really noticed. Not until after avenging Asuma’s death. While Shikamaru was trying to determine what his king was, deer began to herd around his him and started to laze with him. For the next few years, Shikamaru could be found training under his tree with deer lazing in the shade.
But that tree did not only belong to Shikamaru.
When Sakura was little, she loved exploring Kohona. She would wander from site to site, taking in the noise and the images. Always curious of the relationships between people, wishing for friendship. The central park seemed like a very good place to make friends, but all Sakura found was bullies and the branches of a tree to hide. The limbs and leaves always seemed to move to shield her from torment. The tree watched as resentment for her forehead grew to confidence from a friendship that started with a ribbon. Her tears watered the branches when that friendship ended, and she began to regret her choices.
Branches hugged Sakura as she cried, feeling abandoned by her team. She cursed her weakness that lead to her inability to keep up with her teammates. She vowed to herself and her tree that see would no longer stare at their backs but would walk side by side with them. The tree sympathized with Sakura knowing full well that Naruto and Sasuke were blessed by their clan genes and even by the Sage himself.  The tree saw a huge heart in Sakura, a desire to protect love ones, and the potent to do anything with a little encouragement. Twigs decorated with leaves gently wiped away Sakura’s tears and patted her on the head giving out a blessing. Sakura too engrossed in her sobs didn’t notice the tree touches nor the plant sprouting next to her hand. Sakura didn’t notice her blessing for the next month, not until she didn’t notice a boulder sent at her by her sensei. Too late to dodge, Sakura closed her eyes and prayed. When she opened her eyes, a tree was rooted in front of her with a large boulder ingrained within the trunk.
For the next few years, animals hidden within her tree were healed as Sakura practiced her skills. Her tree even sported new limbs as the Mokuton was practiced. Even as Sakura become busy as the Tsunade’s apprentice, when she needed to hide from the world, she could be found within the branches of her tree.
The fourth ninja war happened, the world almost ended and during that time a tree wept. Branches drooped and leaves fell. There was no shadow user needing a place to nap or a pink hair medic needing a place to hide. What use is a leaf if no shade is needed? Why does a limb need to be strong if no one hangs from it? How can a magical tree survive in a world full despair?
Well, punching a Goddess does cause ripples. Hope can blossom again, and the tree was full of that hope. Branches restraighten and flowers started to bud on the twigs. It was time to welcome Konoha Shinobi home again.
Troublesome. That was what Shikamaru thought of the war. When he could get away from the mounting work, Shikamaru would retreat to the shade of his tree. There nobody would bother him. Strategies and planning could wait. He didn’t need to fill the holes left by too many great shinobi gone too soon. He could escape and forget about the world.
Sakura had punched a goddess, yet her work was never finished. The hospital was overflowing and Tsunade left in search of closure leaving Sakura in charge. Shinobi and civilians were coming in every day to heal from the war. When the rare break did occur, Sakura rushed to her tree. Hidden in the branches, she tried to heal from the war.
The tree sighed. Years ago, it blessed two big hearted shinobi. To one it gave shadows and deer, to the other the Mokuton. Both were given to protect those they love. But there was another blessing that the tree gave. Those who dedicate themselves to love ones, also deserve love. And those two were as clueless as Minato and Kushina. For years, Shikamaru napped in its shadows while Sakura squirreled away in the branches. And now they both hid from the world. They needed someone to help navigate the new world. And these two were a matched made in a tree, for acorn’s sake! And the tree would not let a blessing wither away! The tree thought a little shake up was needed. Shikamaru was abruptly awoken when the tree he was napping in started to rumble. His confusion grew when Sakura fell out of the branches and into his lap.
“Ompf, looks like I fallen for you,” Sakura eyes widen when she realized what had come out of her mouth. She hastened to add, “No! I meant on, on you. I’ve fallen on you!”
“Is that’s what all the women say when they fall out of trees?” Shikamaru smugly asked, a smile tugging at his lips.
“No! I was just hiding from work when the tree shook and I fell,” Sakura mumbled, her face turning beet red.  “It’s been crazy since the war.”
Shikamaru nodded in agreement “It is a nice place to relax. Do you come here often?”
“I’ve been hiding in the branches since I was little,” Sakura admitted as she leaned herself against the trunk of the tree, “You?”
“Strange, I’ve been coming here to nap in the shade since I could remember. I’ve never seen you here before.” Shikamaru questioned, an eyebrow raised.
“Ditto” Sakura hummed. Over the next couple hours, they trade stories and theories involving their tree. They talked about random things and laughed about Naruto’s antics. Soon one of their stomachs rumbled with hungry and they left their tree to grab dinner.
After their departure, for the first time in 15 odd years, cherry blossoms decorated the tree.

Why I Love Sakura Haruno
This is not responding to any hate, it's just me sharing my opinion.
Tumblr media
She Wasn't Born Into A Prestigious Clan
Sakura was born into a weak, unpopular clan and still became very powerful. She started off with no kekkei genkai or special abilities, and there wasn't really anything she could do. She was almost as hopeless as Rock Lee was as a child. This shows how hard she truly worked to get where she is now, even if she can't compare to her peers that were born with greater potential to become powerful. For example, Sasuke was destined to awaken a Sharingan and Naruto was both an Uzumaki and a Jinchuuriki. Sakura had nothing. Still, she became quite powerful. I think this is particularly stunning, and it's genuinely praiseworthy.
She worked for her power, and she worked hard. When Sakura was a child, she was completely weak. She had her smarts, but she lacked battle skill. We were shown her hard work with Tsunade later on. Although Sakura did start out with the upper hand having great chakra control, it doesn't mean that her journey to achieving a Yin Seal wasn't a long one. Even other Medical Ninja with exceptional chakra control weren't able to do this.
Sakura sometimes even passed out because of how hard she worked. It was shown once during her training with Tsunade, and another time after she healed an injured person. She truly pushed herself to the limit, and it's definitely a reason to at least respect her. I really enjoy characters who had to work harder for their power.
Tumblr media
Intelligence
Sakura's definitely intelligent, even if she isn't on par with Shikamaru or Kakashi. In classic Naruto, she explained various things to her teammates and was able to answer all 9 questions in the Chunin Exams without cheating. In addition, these questions were said to be too complicated for a mere genin. This didn't stop Sakura.
In original Naruto, Sakura lacked battle skill since she usually focused on being book smart. She knew practically everything in her grade and even things above her grade. Kakashi even calls Sakura Team 7's sharpest mind. In classic Naruto, Sakura even reminds me of Hermione from Harry Potter. Her intelligence definitely shined through more than anything in her early years.
Sakura was also very intelligent throughout the rest of the series, her analytical skills said to be better than Sasuke's Sharingan's by Sasuke himself. It's notable to mention that she usually depended on outsmarting her opponents in order to trick them. It's also notable to mention that this tactic often worked.
Tumblr media
Personality
I really love Sakura's personality. She's
intelligent, confident, and caring. She has a very quick temper, but she loves her friends and puts their needs above her own. I'd say that Sakura's weakness would be her feelings, and it's great to give a character a flaw that hinders them. For example, Hinata. Hinata's weakness is her gentle nature. In my opinion, It makes her more likeable. I like that Sakura has this weakness of letting her feelings get the best of her from time to time.
Sakura is very kind. We all know she is hotheaded and short-tempered, but her kindness does shine through. Although he might've been the enemy, Sakura didn't deny to help someone who was dying during the war. Even though her peers told her it could potentially be a bad idea, she took him in while being cautious at the same time. Sakura is shown being very kind to strangers in particular.
Sakura is also very caring. She cares about Naruto and his dreams to become Hokage, claiming she wouldn't let him die in the Great Ninja War and feeling dejected when he is hurt. In addition, She threatens Sai when he deems Naruto weak, as she has immense faith in the blonde. She cares about the man who became both a traitor and a criminal. What Sakura had for Sasuke was true love, even if it was one-sided. She didn't give up on him because she cared deeply about him and had hope he could still be saved even after he did so many unspeakable things. While it deterred more as Sasuke committed more horrible crimes, I still think Sakura always had a sliver of hope.
Sakura cares more about everyone than herself, and this is an upgrade from when she was young and selfish. She puts herself in harms way, even if it's just for the tiniest distraction. This was shown when she served as a distraction in the fight against Madara, running at him head-on so Sasuke and Naruto could attack. While this can be a liability since a Medical Ninja needs to survive, it shows just how much she cares. It's notable that this might not even kill her because of her quick regeneration. What can I say? Sakura's not perfect. But you know what? She has heart and that's something I admire tremendously.
Her confidence is certainly noteworthy. Sakura is very confident in herself. You can easily tell Sakura is confident just by watching her scenes in the Anime or reading them in the Manga. Sakura has trust in her abilities, and that's also something I tend to favor. I love how she is able to assert herself as well as be certain about her actions.
Her short temper is another one. This is a hit or miss, and is a big reason most people don't like her. Sakura is very hotheaded. She usually gets angry when Naruto voices something derogatory or is perverted and punches him. Most people consider this an act of violence or abuse, but I don't. I mean, you can't deny that he deserves it sometimes.. Her anger dies down pretty quickly, and she ends up brushing off Naruto's statements and smiles. I think this adds a little bit of spiciness, character, and imperfection. Short-tempered characters often bring forth comedy and are interesting and exciting to watch. This is another part of Sakura's personality which I love deeply. But, like I said before, this is pretty much a hit or miss and some people do not respect this.
Sakura is also determined. In The Forest Of Death, she takes on enemies much stronger than her so she can protect her teammates until they wake up. She needed a lot of help in this fight, but it's exemplary that she put herself in danger for Sasuke and Naruto. In addition, her determination is also apparent when she asks Tsunade to be her sensei. She works really hard until she finally becomes powerful. She even acquired a hate for losing after her training, making her intent on defeating her opponent.
Tumblr media
Abilities
Medical Ninjutsu is a favorite of mine. I've always wanted to be involved in medicine, so I appreciate all of the techniques and helpfulness shown in Naruto. I also enjoy watching Sakura and Tsunade's brute force be put into play. It's always exciting, not to mention Taijutsu is another favorite of mine.
Sakura is one of the best medical ninja out there. She mastered a rare technique at a very young age. This is the Mystical Palm Technique. Sakura was able to master it in roughly three months, while other medics weren't able to master it at all. Amazingly, she is also able to form a Yin Seal, which is even more rare than the Mystical Palm Technique. As I said before, even Shizune (A very skilled Medic) could not form the Yin Seal.
Furthermore, She has various powerful healing jutsu such as the 100 Healings Jutsu. The 100 Healings Jutsu allows Sakura to continue fighting while her body heals itself. This means she does not even have to stop to think about it or weave handsigns. In my opinion, this is a very useful and interesting jutsu. Sakura can withstand deathblows using this technique.
Speaking of the 100 Healings Jutsu, Sakura saved up chakra for three years. At one point in time, Tsunade forbade Sakura to perform surgeries or battle. This is because building up chakra in order to form the Yin seal drains the user's normal reserves of chakra. However, Sakura is actually able to divert some of this chakra back into her normal reserves and she is able to perform surgeries and fight again. It's unknown how she accomplished this, but it had to take some hard work and focus. It also had to take some intelligence to even think of it.
Sakura was very supportive during the Pain Invasion arc and the War arc. She summoned Katsuyu, who traveled around to aid fallen citizens and shinobi in both arcs. She successfully did her duty and mended the wounds of many people. Countless citizens would have died without Sakura's expertise and dedication. Every Medical Ninja had to weigh in greatly for these two arcs, showing just how serious they were.
As for Taijutsu, I think it's amazing how both Sakura and Tsunade fight. The women obtain their monstrous strength from transferring chakra into their fists and sometimes their legs. Another Taijutsu user, Choji, was able to defeat Jirobo by transferring his chakra into his fist and punching him. This proves just how effective this technique is. This also requires a vast amount of skill in Chakra Control, something that Sakura was shown having from the very beginning. In addition, Sakura is pretty good at evading attacks. I guess she was just destined to gain monstrous strength.
Tumblr media
Growth
This is commonly brought up. Sakura used to be weak, annoying, and selfish. All bad traits. As Sakura works and betters herself, she eventually becomes a powerful woman who thinks of others above herself.
In the early episodes of classic Naruto, Sakura badmouths Naruto. This is a line even Sasuke knew was going too far. After Sasuke calls her annoying, Sakura is able to sit down and sympathize with Naruto. She knows partly how he feels now, and vows to be nicer to him. In Shippuden when she is older, she always put her faith in Naruto. She would never badmouth Naruto again, and got angry when others such as Sai did. By this point, Sakura truly cares for Naruto and understands him more than she did before.
Another thing substandard about Sakura in classic Naruto would probably be her love towards Sasuke Uchiha. This was a typical 13-year-old crush and you can't deny it got annoying easily. She was obsessed with Sasuke as a young teen, but grew out of it once she got older. She has always loved Sasuke, but she was more calm and less boy crazy. There are scenes where Sasuke causes Sakura to blush, but that's nothing compared to how she acted as a young teen. Her feelings develop into true love, even if she only had a crush on him because of his calm attitude and good looks before. She truly cares about him and wants to save him in Shippuden, even if she doubts it sometimes.
Unlike when she was younger, Sakura often cares more about others than she does herself. This is shown a few times throughout the series. As I said before, she usually uses herself as a distraction so her teammates can attack. Moreover, she is not as selfish as she was regarding her feelings. She now takes other's personal feelings into account instead of her own. While she still does focus on her feelings sometimes, she's not entirely egocentric as she was before. Great Development.
Now on to her power. Most don't deny that Sakura was utterly weak during Classic Naruto, but in Shippuden we were able to see how strong she had gotten thanks to her hard work. She gained brute strength, evasion skills, and advanced Medical Ninjutsu. All of these are useful and supportive when in battle. Sakura doesn't need to be rescued as often as she did before, and it's amazing she finally became a bit more independent as well as more powerful.
Tumblr media
Bonds
Sakura is close friends with the two main characters, so of course her relationships come off as likeable. She is very supportive of our protagonist, Naruto, and puts a great deal of credence in him. Even if she couldn't, Sakura has always tried to understand and sympathize with Naruto. She believes in him and is there for him if he might need her. She does lash out at him sometimes, and he can be unknowingly rude to her, but not every relationship can be perfect. Naruto is determined to keep Sakura safe and is in love with her for quite a while. I think her relationship with Naruto is more notable than her relationship with Sasuke. Seeing Naruto and Sakura together is never a bad thing.
Next, her relationship with Sasuke. This is probably the most obvious one, as she is married to him. A big part of Sakura's motivation to get stronger involved bringing Sasuke back to the village. Sadly, she was not strong enough to match up to him and instead trusted Naruto would save him. Even when she tried to kill Sasuke, she couldn't do it because she loved him too much. Sakura had very deep feelings for him, even if that love was only one-sided. She has always wanted to be acknowledged by him since her youth, much like Naruto wanted to be acknowledged by this village. Finally, Sasuke did acknowledge her. He conveys that she is now someone people can depend on. Additionally, Sasuke accepts that no matter what he did to her she was always going to love him.
I feel like this next one is unpopular, but I adore the relationship between Sakura and Sai. Sakura started off angry at Sai for calling her ugly, but later tried to be more open-minded. This failed after Sai insulted Sasuke, of course. Later, Sai wished to learn more about human bonds and Sakura showed compassion towards him and aided him in this quest. Sakura and Sai's relationship is pretty sincere in my opinion. She helps him to understand people and bonds more, and they even rescue one another and share intimate moments. Not to mention Sakura showed interest in Sai.
Next is her rival and best friend, Ino. From the very beginning, Ino and Sakura were shown to be very competitive towards each other. It wasn't really surprising that we later found out they were childhood friends. Sakura was ridiculed for her large forehead, but Ino encouraged her to embrace her forehead rather than cover it with her bangs. Sakura continues to be shy about her forehead, and Ino constantly had to tell her she was just making it a big deal. Sakura and Ino become close friends, Ino helping her to become more confident around others. Eventually, Sakura decides to tell Ino that she has a crush on Sasuke. They become rivals at this point, competing in everything. Despite this, there are times where they really show their care for eachother. One of these moments include Ino fixing Sakura's hair after she cut it in the Forest Of Death. Also, let's mention that Sakura wanted to be like Ino when she was younger. If that isn't cute, I don't know what is.
Finally, her relationship with her senseis. Kakashi and Sakura are very understanding of each other. Kakashi is very protective of his student, reassures her, holds her in high regard, and never judges her for her mistakes. Sakura in return worries for him, shows him respect, defends him, and isn't afraid to tell him about her feelings. This is exactly what a sensei and student relationship should look like. A teacher who never belittles the student and a student who respects the teacher. Furthermore, there are many characters who understand Sakura, but Kakashi really takes the cake with this one. He is the one who understood her feelings and the reasons behind her mistakes.
Now the next teacher: Tsunade. Tsunade is really the one to thank for Sakura's strength and skillful Medical Ninjutsu. Sakura and Tsunade respect one another, and Tsunade compliments her for her achievements. Sakura always listened to Tsunade, and took her battle advice. Moreover, she also inherited some of Tsunade's views and ideals. Although Sakura was weak when she first started training, Tsunade acknowledged her potential and took her under her wing.
Tumblr media
Teamwork
Sakura is proficient in teamwork. Whether it be with her squad or one other person. Chiyo and Sakura made a great team, as Sakura made up for Chiyo's weaknesses and Chiyo made up for Sakura's. Chiyo did not have enough strength to destroy Hiruko, but Sakura did. Sakura had trouble evading Sasori's fast attacks, so Chiyo took control of her body. I really admired the way these two worked so well together. Another notable team involving Sakura would be her and Obito. Obito and Sakura worked hard to retrieve Sasuke from an alternate dimension. Obito was the one who could open gateways to the other dimension, but he did not have enough chakra to do so. Sakura helps out by activating her Yin Seal and pouring her chakra into Obito. With this, Sasuke is able to save himself.
Tumblr media
She does stand in the shadow of others, but Sakura is a phenomenal character. I personally feel her flaws and mistakes make her relatable, which makes her a character that you can be comfortable watching. I feel bad when I see Sakura being hated on for her tiny flaws but never given the benefit of the doubt. I believe this is because she is the main heroine and is judged and looked at more than the other women. In all honesty, Sakura's strengths shine through more than her flaws. I feel so inspired when I watch Sakura or think about her character. She proves you can change yourself for the better. She proves everyone makes mistakes. She proves you can truly be confident in yourself. And last but not least, She proves it's okay to show emotion. She's amazing. Truly.
Thank you for your time. If you dislike or even hate Sakura, I don't mind if you share why in the comments or in a DM! I respect everyone's opinion, and all I'm asking is for you to respect mine.

Characterizing Team Gai: What it means to find "Home"
Tumblr media
Team Gai has a wonderful “found family” dynamic within the series, despite having very different backgrounds. Each member lacks a distinct form of love that is normally met within a familial relationship, and understanding these needs is a great step to characterizing them with any potential romantic partner.
Explanations for each member below the cut.
Might Gai
Gai needs home in the form of security and support. All of the loss, the pain, and the trials and hardships he’s experienced means that his spouse is his support and his sanctuary. Gai is so wonderful, so emotionally literate, and so willing to give everything he has for his loved ones that he needs someone to match that and make him feel secure in his identity. It’s not something Gai will ever ask for, but it’s so clear to his spouse after a decent amount of time that the need for an equal support is there. (The former point is obvious based on Gai’s relationship with Team Gai/Lee/Kakashi, but the latter can be strongly inferred from his relationship with Kakashi in both Kakashi Hiden and Shinden: Steam Ninja Scrolls)
Unfortunately, most take Gai at face value. Gai has many people he needs to be strong for—his students, his comrades, Kakashi, and frankly, it’s his duty. From the first day he ever attempted to enter the academy, his life has been a struggle that he’s resolved to bear with pride. But isn’t it nice that for once in his life when he’s with his spouse, he doesn’t need to struggle? With his spouse he doesn’t need to put on the “mighty guy" persona, he can always be a hero in their eyes–even during his moments of vulnerability and doubt. It’s important to remember that Gai is fully capable of being serious and has a lot of wisdom from his experiences. Those experiences have made him into the man he is, and now after the events of the fourth war Gai must cope with his newfound disability in addition to the loss he experienced during the war. His spouse should recognize and be sensitive to how Gai must once more redefine his identity and prove himself a fully competent shinobi in the aftermath. It’s obvious he’s taken a blow to his pride even though he’s driven to overcome it.
Gai needs to be able to finally put down the over-the-top displays in front of one person and just breathe. Gai is a sensitive man and he’s not afraid to be openly so, but it’s an entirely different matter to have someone give him the same emotional support in return. When Gai finally knows that the most secure and affirming place in the world is in the presence of his spouse, he finally feels at home.
Rock Lee
Lee needs home in the form of constant and unwavering love and affection. Lee has been put down his entire life without relent. Even his friends, though they mean well, can pick at his insecurities. Lee won’t get upset at them: he gets upset at himself because he thinks (“knows”) the things they say are true: “He can’t do jutsu.” “He looks out of place.” “His personality can be a little much.” He needs someone that loves him exactly for who he is and tells him constantly. No subtlety, no needing to “read between the lines.” Just open, honest, and warm affection that he knows will never dissappear.
It should be pretty obvious that Lee is starved for affirmation. The first adult that ever expressed an ounce of belief in him became his biggest role model and Lee has since dedicated his life to emulating his every manner. When Naruto defeated the rival (Neji) that Lee himself had never been able to defeat, he made it his goal to win against Naruto as well. He was, for a long time, unwilling to give up his crush on the prettiest girl he met (Sakura) because he had hoped his nobility and willingness to protect her could be enough to win her affections. (This is all pretty self-explanatory textual evidence.)
Lee will go to the ends of the earth for people he loves, but he doubts that he’s worth the same. Just like his sensei, he pours into people with everything he has and doesn’t ask for anything in return. As his spouse’s words of encouragement never falter come either success or disappointment, Lee could almost—and probably does—cry when he realizes that true love really is possible for him. When Lee doesn’t need to question his own worth and realizes he never feels anything less than loved in the eyes of his spouse, he feels at home.
Tenten
Tenten needs home in the form of a relationship that feels natural and unforced. Tenten never dedicated any amount of time to thinking about relationships or love. The whole idea of the “unstoppable, heart-pounding romance” doesn’t appeal to her. She is a person who is dedicated to her craft, and her spouse must understand her passion. She’s not the homemaker or the motherly type. Tenten has never wanted to give up part of herself for anyone, and she shouldn’t have to. (See Konoha Gaiden, Chp. 2 for more insight on this.)
If she ever falls in love, it’ll only be once and with the one person that flows naturally with her; Someone that doesn’t drain her or force her to constantly question if she’s unable to be who she really is. She doesn’t have anyone who is all of that, even in close relationships—Gai and Lee are supportive but require a lot of her time and energy to keep up with. Neji is easy to work with, but almost impossible to read and inflexible.
She needs someone that fits right with her, that effortlessly goes at her pace, and that is always open with their feelings. Tenten really can’t “read” people, it was never her strength. It shouldn’t need to be, either—not everyone needs to be the Sherlock of reading mannerisms and emotions. But, when someone is as familiar to her as the back of her hand and gives her selfless love and affirmation without ever demanding anything of her, Tenten really does feel at home.
Neji Hyuga
Neji needs home in the form of unconditional love and forgiveness. Surprisingly, his needs are most similar to his Sensei and Lee, but for a different reason: All his life, Neji never had a chance to feel like his life mattered to anyone. He might have been one of the prestigious Hyuga clan, but if he angered anyone in his ‘home’ it was grounds for severe punishment. Being in such a high-stress environment meant that he lacked affirmation and a chance to experience forgiveness.
He’s guarded, closed-off, and consistent, and he knows he can be difficult—he knows himself better than anyone else. A spouse needs to be patient and willing to love and forgive him, even if he snaps or gets testy. He doesn’t mean it, but Neji has always bottled his emotions up out of habit. Out of necessity. Genuine forgiveness and understanding are what he needs to finally open up to that gentler, protective, more sensible side of himself. (His brotherly relationship with Hinata Pre- and During-War is a clear example of this.)
A spouse that is also willing to be his protector will melt his heart in an instant: he couldn’t stand the thought of them being in danger for his sake, but the notion that they value his life to such a degree moves him. Neji is more than a genius. He’s a person with thoughts, feelings, and aspirations. When he has a spouse that loves him for the person he is, flaws and all, he can’t help but fall in love. And when Neji falls for someone, it’s for a lifetime. When he knows that a place with his spouse is full of unconditional love, forgiveness, and where his life is precious and valued, Neji finally feels at home.

Happiest birthday to the legend who dedicated himself for the sake of everyone he loves most..
To the man who gave his life to protect everything he treasured. To the soldier who lost every important person there is but still fought so hard because it was his duty to do so. To the hero who never wanted acknowledgement but only desires peace, a generation who will not know war.
To the shinobi who poured his soul into his missions, that by accomplishing each assignment, he may make up for the ones he failed at. To the son who promised not to repeat the mistakes of his father yet ended up emulating what his dad did. To the friend who never lose his respect for a bestfriend who lost his way. To the student who failed to protect his teacher, yet became a great teacher to his sensei's only son.
To the senior ANBU who blames himself for the misgivings of his junior, and became a mentor to that junior's little brother. To the bookworm whose weakness is spoilers and is embarrassed by reading aloud the lines he enjoys most. To the copycat whose heart is pure and original and can do the copied abilities better than the original. To the non.Uchiha sharingan user who surpassed clan members in using the very bloodline limit they are born with. To the teacher who treats his team not as students but family.
To the Hokage who unselfishly gave his everything for Konoha without even trying. To the man behind the mask, whose heart is often underestimated and underrated. Yet once you see through his shielded persona, you'll understand how selfless and soft he is.
He blames himself for the things he had no control over. He had to carry the guilt of being the reason why his bestfriend died. He had to wash off the blood of his bestfriend's lover who willingly decided to be killed by his special attack. He had to be the shock absorber for his bestfriend's anger. He had to carry the stigma left by his father. He had to watch his sensei die while being powerless to defend him. He had to do odd jobs and be labeled as cold.bloodied because he had tons of missions to accomplish for the sake of his village.
He had no chance of stopping a comrade from slaughtering an entire clan. He was tasked to handle three very difficult kids, two are uncalled reminders of how bad his past is. He had to watch as one of his students leave for the greed for power and two left him to be under the tutelage of other teachers.
He had to die for a village who thought of him just as a soldier, a weapon in a war he never really wanted to be in. He then had to lead that village into restoration. He had tons of paperwork and loads of knots to untie.
The world needs more of you, Kakashi Hatake. 😍
Happiest birthday!
