Whumptober 2020: Day 23 - What’s a whumpee gotta do to get some sleep around here?
Prompt: Sleep deprivation
Summary: When Tim gets hit with Poison Ivy’s new toxin, he’s forced to stay awake until an antidote is created. Normally it would be easy however since he’s already pulled two all-nighters prior to being affected, it becomes a whole lot more difficult.
Enjoy! :D
“Okay, so, don’t be mad, but something’s happened.”
It takes all of Bruce’s self-restraint to not let the sigh slip past his lips upon hearing his eldest son’s words. He knew the night had been going too smooth to be true, nothing has happened up until Dick called him through the comms.
“B? You still there?” Dick’s concerned voice travels into his ear.
“Yes, Nightwing, I’m still here.” Bruce answers evenly, waiting for his son to get to the point.
Nothing good ever follows the words ‘something’s happened’.
“In simple terms, Red Robin’s been hit by Ivy’s new toxin. He’s fine, except not if you know what I mean.”
Unfortunately Bruce does know what he means. Tim is fine physically and not injured however he has a poisonous toxin running through his veins.
“Red’s on his way back in the Batmobile with Robin, not the smartest move I know but Robin was there when Red got hit.”
Bruce finally gives in and lets out that sigh. He wish he could have been out in the field helping to find Poison Ivy, however he’s stuck in the cave behind the computer because of a damaged hip he acquired 3 nights ago, he was in no shape to go out and fight villains.
Ivy has recently conjured up a new toxin one of which takes affects when the body is asleep. When the body is relaxed the toxin begins to shut down the organs, eventually killing the affected in their sleep.
This new toxin appeared two nights ago and has been a headache since. Bruce has had to split the family up into two, one half going out on patrol to find Ivy herself and the other half is mixed between working on an antidote (since it’s new they have not yet got one) and working out what Ivy’s other motives are as there’s reason to believe this toxin is simply a distraction for something bigger.
The fact Tim has now been hit with the toxin brings a new urgency to creating an antidote.
Bruce is disrupted from his thoughts when a familiar engine could be heard echoing throughout the cave. He waits patiently and observes as the batmobile pulls to a stop and two doors open up. The bickering could instantly be heard and Bruce takes a deep breath in order to help prepare himself to be deal with his two youngest.
His sons immediately head over to him at the computer and stand a couple feet away. Damian was scowling, he had his hood up and arms crossed over his chest. Tim had his cowl down and Bruce could see the way his eyes were dilated and how sweat was coating his skin.
“Father,” Damian demands his attention after a moment, “Drake has once again proven that he is incompetent in the field.”
Next to him Tim grits his teeth and Bruce could see how the boy was holding himself back from making the retort he desperately wants to.
“Damian, you’re finished for the night, go get changed and head for bed.”
“But father-”
Bruce’s glare stops his youngest from voicing the rest of his protest. Once Damian is heading for the changing rooms, he turns to Tim. “Tim, I want you to go to the medical bay, let Alfred take a blood sample and then get yourself washed and changed. Once you’re done, we’ll talk.”
Tim wordlessly nods and heads for the medical bay where Alfred was waiting for him. While he waits for Tim to sort himself out he turns his attention back onto his other family members still out in the field. He updates them with the situation and gets reports back in return. By the time he was all caught up Tim had retuned to the computer.
“How are you feeling?”
Tim sighs and runs a hand through his damp hair. “I’m fine, I don’t feel like I’ve been poisoned or anything. Nothing is hurt, well maybe except my pride. It was a stupid mistake and I messed up.”
Bruce leans forward as much as he can in the chair and pins Tim with a firm look. “You do understand the seriousness of this situation don’t you Tim? You may not feel anything right now but under no circumstances, as much as I hate to say it, you cannot go to sleep. We’ll be having a conversation on your performance once we know you’re safe and toxin free.”
Tim rolls his eyes in that typical defiant fashion that teenagers seem to have. “I know Bruce, I’m not stupid. I can help create the antidote. Also, I’m pretty experienced of working without sleep, I’ll be fine.”
“That's great except you’ve already pulled nearly two all-nighters prior to tonight.” A new voice joins their conversation. The two of them look over to see Dick walking towards them, glaring at Tim as he does so.
Upon hearing this Bruce rubs his forehead. So it’s going to be much harder to keep Tim awake than he thought because his son was already sleep deprived as it was. Keeping him awake for another 24 hours or so was going to be difficult.
Tim glares at his brother. “I’ve handled worse. I’ll be fine.” With that he storms off and heads towards the stairs in order to go up to the manor.
Bruce shares a look with Dick. “We’ll rotate people to keep an eye on him at all times. He can’t be allowed to sleep until we can clear the toxin from his body. It’s nearly done now anyway, another day then it should be complete, hopefully.”
Dick nods slowly. “Yeah, like I said he’s already running on fumes so it’s not going to be long until he crashes for good. If you and Alfred focus on the antidote then the rest of us will keep Tim awake. Please finish it soon.”
------
The day that follows is interesting for everyone. Much to his annoyance Tim was being watched like a hawk, anytime he even closes his eyes for more than two seconds someone was there either calling his name or physically shaking him.
This of course leads Tim to being snappy with anyone who was around him at the time, his tiredness was quickly coming through and it was clear he wanted to rest but could not do so.
Dick watches as Tim floats about the manor, going between the kitchen, library, bathroom and his bedroom. They’ve banned him from any form of training, saying that the exercise will tire him out quicker. In result Tim is working on WE reports and case files to fill up the time while the antidote gets made.
Dick joins Tim in the library and silently works on his own files while keeping an eye on his brother. It doesn’t go unnoticed on how Tim sometimes pauses as if he’s forgotten what he’s writing, or the way he stares at the page for a good five minutes before carrying on with the task.
Dick was getting worried because the sleep deprivation was clearly getting to Tim now and it’s only a matter of time before he crashes.
The two of them work in companionable silence until Tim groans and stands up to stretch. He looks over at Dick, “I’m going to get some food, want anything?”
Dick shakes his head. “No thanks.” He watches as Tim nods and begins to head for the door. He’s glad he had been watching Tim because after a couple steps Tim swayed on his feet and without even thinking about it, Dick jumps out of his seat and lunges for his brother. He reaches Tim just in time to catch him before he hits the ground.
Dick lowers them both to the ground and checks Tim over. “Tim, you okay? What’s wrong?”
Tim blinks at him owlishly for a moment and frowns, “I uh, I don’t… God the room just spun like crazy then and I lost my balance I guess.”
“That's the sleep deprivation, it’s really hitting you now. You just need to stay awake a little longer bud. Bruce is nearly done with the antidote.” God he hopes he is. Without any other words, Dick picks Tim up and takes him to the couch, putting him down gently.
Tim slumps into the cushions behind him and Dick feels terrible because he looks so wiped out and awful. He wants his brother to be healthy again. When Tim’s eyes close, Dick reaches out and roughly pats his cheeks. “Hey, none of that, not yet Tim okay.”
Tim noncommittedly hums as he pulls himself into an upright position and leans over his work again. Dick studies him for a moment before deciding to return to his own workstation. As he settles into the seat he sends Tim a look. “I’ll text Jay and see if he can bring in some food for us, perhaps a drink as well.”
When Tim doesn’t respond Dick shrugs it off and sends Jason the message. After that he cracks back on with his own work.
Time goes by and Dick soon realises he hadn’t checked on Tim for a while. He looks over to where the teenager was sat only to feel his heart stop inside of his chest. For a second time, Dick is lunging across the room to get to his brother, who was lying down on the couch with his face pressed into the cushions.
With one hand Dick reaches out to check for a pulse and with the other he scrambles to get his phone out of his pocket. Thankfully there’s still a steady beat underneath two of his fingers but he has no idea how long Tim had fallen asleep for. This was Dick’s fault, he should have been paying closer attention to his brother.
“Dick?” A voice calls for him through his phones speaker.
Dick frantically shouts into the phone while desperately trying to shake Tim awake. “Bruce please tell me you have the antidote ready! Tim’s fallen asleep and I have no idea how long he’s been like it!”
“Yes, it’s just been finished, we’re prepping a needle now. Where are you?”
“We’re in the library. Bruce hurry!”
“Alfred is on his way. There are precautions however because it hasn’t been tested-”
“Fuck the precautions Bruce! Tim is dying we need to save him!”
Bruce continues to speak on the phone but Dick wasn’t listening. He was too focused on his sleeping brother, worrying about how his body is going to shut down if he doesn’t wake up. Tim wasn’t waking up no matter what Dick tries.
“Master Dick, please allow me.” Dick looks up and is relieved to find Alfred approaching them. Dick shuffles to the side to make room for the butler and watches with an intense stare as Alfred takes Tim’s arm and injects him with the antidote. As soon as it’s administered Dick is asking questions.
“How long until it takes affect? Will it work? What if it doesn’t Alfred?”
A gentle hand on his arm stops him from rambling. “Master Dick, unfortunately all we can do is wait and see. Master Bruce is still in the lab triple checking it over but an estimation will be a few hours or so, especially considering how exhausted the lad is.”
Dick nods his head and takes a few deep breaths, willing himself to calm down and trust Alfred’s words.
The next few hours were awful. Dick could feel all of the anxiety, the anticipation and worry storming inside of him as he paces around the library waiting for Tim to wake up. In that time, Bruce had now joined them in the room along with Alfred and even Jason.
A small gasp soon gets his attention and Dick abruptly stops walking to stare at the couch where Tim was lying. Sparks of hope travel through him as he watches Tim stir and joy explodes in him when Tim’s eyes open up. Before anyone else could react, Dick was moving, making his way to the couch and pulling Tim into a fierce hug.
“God I was so worried! Never do that to me again baby bird.”
Tim’s only response is to loosely hug Dick back while he tries to wrap his head around what happened. Dick ignores it all, loving the feeling of having his brother back and mostly out of danger, they can deal with everything else soon enough.

Why Me!? Chapter 16
A/N: Hey peeps, I hope you guys enjoy today's update. I hope you guys like the fact that I uploaded so soon. Also I have a lot of oneshot ideas however the tricky part is actually WRITING. Who knew am I right?
“Kaalki quick open a portal to that old alley, It’s better to transform there, Tikki you can finish Game of Thrones later” Marinette ordered a previously napping Kaalki, while pulling out a miffed Tikki from her mini-room in the closet. Tikki was almost done with the first season of Game Of Throne. The only reason it was taking so long was mostly that she had to watch it whenever Marinette wasn’t around due to uh reasons.
“Priorities much?” Marinette teased, quickly making a fake sleeping Marinette on her bed in case someone checked on her.
She quickly leaped through the portal, after appearing in some Paris alley she quickly ducked behind the dumpster and transformed into Ladybug, and made her way to the Attack.
To no one's surprise she was facing off with Lady Wifi again. Except for this time she was busy tracking down her ex-boyfriend Nino who had broken up with her over text. Ouch. Good for him regardless. The darker part of Marinette was pleased. He came to his senses. Finally.
Unfortunately for her Lady Wifi was pissed, which made taking her down harder. She had to leave to recharge, Chat showed up during the last few moments but still proved himself useless by getting frozen by Lady-wifi somehow. Luckily Ladybug was sadly used to this and left him frozen.
Quickly ducking to the side she delivered a blow to Alyas' side. Throwing her yo-yo she managed to tangle Lady Wifis legs, causing her to drop her phone. Ladybug quickly scooped it up to destroy. Seriously, what was it with this girl and her obsession with phones?
Purifying the Akuma, she used the Miraculous Ladybug to instantly repair all the damage. Releasing a heavy sigh she turned to face her ex-best friend. To her disgust she was facing a pouting Alya and a smiling Chat.
The instant that Alya saw Ladybug she immediately stood up and ran towards her,
“Oh my gosh Ladybug thank you for saving me, I don't know what Nino was thinking breaking up with me like that, he KNOWS how mad I get” she said huffing out a laugh.
Oh. my. god. She was trying to make it seem like Nino was at fault! Marinette was furious. She was acting just like Chat!!! Marinette is going to need so much therapy after all of this is done.
“Alya, you need to apologize to Nino,” she finally told her. “and afterward leave him alone, you have to respect his decision and space.” She added. They might not be friends anymore but that didn’t mean that Marinette didn't care about Nino.
“L-L-Ladybug, you don’t get it, he broke up with me for no good reas-”
“It was a good enough reason that he felt the need to do it through a text” gesturing towards Nino's home she added “and as it turns out he was right to do so”
Alya huffed, “You just don't understand Ladybug”. She moved away from her and took out her phone to begin live streaming.
She made her way towards Chat noir who was standing on the side watching the whole exchange a bit nervous. “Chat Noir, Are you aware of a certain girl named Marinette who got caught on camera criticizing you, when she had no right to mind you, about your most recent actions?. Do you have anything to say in response to it?” She asked pointing her phone camera in his direction.
Chat Noir immediately leaped at the chance to defend himself.
“W-well like you said she had no right, what could she know about the struggles of being a superhero, heck I even had to save her a couple of times and that’s how she thanks me?’ He mentioned facing Alyas' camera. “Honestly I think she’s just jealous and mine and m’lady's partnership, but what can you do am I right?” he teased.
“What partnership chat?” Ladybug cut in. No way was she letting rumors spread when she was standing right there.
“M'lady's just jealous as well,” Chat said with a wink
“Oh for Pete's sake” Ladybug pulled Chat away from Alyas prying eyes (and cellphone) and yo-yo away without a goodbye to the blogger.
A few rooftops away she finally plopped down and released Chat none too gracefully. The look on Chat noirs face wasn’t the charming one he was displaying for Alya and her Camera, he had the nerve to look annoyed.
“What was that?” He spit out
“What was what hmmm?” Oh she was annoyed now too.
“Al-that Cesaire girl has been your biggest supporter since Day One. You just don’t know what's going on with that Cesaire girl”
“I do, her boyfriend broke up with her because he was involved in an extremely toxic relationship” She stated, “I have to make sure she understands that, she’s trying to shift the blame!!!”
“And what was that about our partnership, you sounded like you agreed with that Dupain-Cheng girl” He complained annoyed “That's cause I do”
“WHAT!?”
“You said it yourself Marinette could never understand the pressure cause she’s not a superhero, I on the other hand AM,” Not to mention they were one and the same but he didn't have to know that, “frankly you’ve been lacking in the superhero department if I can show up for every Akuma battle why can't you?”
“Because I have a life unlike you”
“Pfftt I am an independent business owner who still manages to be a stellar student AND I manage to handle Akuma attacks alone more often than not, what about you?”
“What does that matter? Marinette's gotten to you hasn’t she? You know she's been sent away for assaulting a classmate?”
“That's weird from what she told me she quit” she shouted “really chat you should leave the manipulating to Rossi and Cesaire”
“YOU TAKE THAT BACK, I DONT MANIPULATE” He screamed at her. Why was it that everyone was turning against him lately?
“You’re right, you only do that after you try everything else to make yourself seem good” Ladybug finished staring back at Chat noirs infuriated green eyes, His eyebrows were furrowed and he looked the angriest he ever had.
Staring at him Marinette came to a realization, she took a few step backs “We’ll talk later” She jumped off the roof and started making her way to a specific location.
Batcave                                                                                                      Wayne Manor, USA                                                                                      12:30 pm
“Master Dick I must ask you to please refrain from breaking your ribs in the future” Alfred sighed, Luckily Batman was able to arrive in time to stop Nightwing from getting kidnapped or worse. Red Hood quickly arrived and hauled an unconscious Nightwing to the Cave.
Batman, Red Robin, and Robin were currently spread around Gotham and Bludhaven trying to track down any stragglers.
“Sorry Alfie, I’m way too cute for the criminals to stay away” Dick mumbled sleepily
“-humph- Regardless No patrolling for 6 weeks,”
“You hurt me, I hope you know that Alf” He joked. Eh, they were all fast healers, he’ll probably be back on patrol in 4 weeks.
“Heya Alfred, Now that Dick is alright I am going to head back out” Jason said adjusting his gloves and strapping his knives in place.
“Before you leave Master Jason please pickup the Tupperware filled with food I have left for you in the kitchen, And please escort Master Dick to his room for rest” Alfred knew good and well that his charges love not listening to doctors, er butlers, orders.
“Thanks, Alf, Comere Dickwad” Helping Dick up from the cot “but I don’t want to,” Dick whined. “Tough luck”
Making there way throughout the manor, Dick suddenly stopped “Marinette's room is right there, lemme check on her”
Jesus sometimes Dick can be more of a mother hen than Bruce “Come on Dickface, It's almost 1 am any sane person will be asleep by now” he said tiredly but a part of him wanted to check up on her too. Curse these big brother instincts. “Fine only a peek”
Once they stumbled to the front of Marinette's room, Jason gently cracked open the door seeing Marinette sleeping he moved aside to allow Dick to take a peak. To Jason's shock Dick unwrapped his arm from His shoulder and pushed open the door, stumbling to Marinette's Bed. Quickly pulling off the sheets he revealed a bundle of pillows under the blanket.
Marinette wasn’t in her bed.
 “Crap”
I just Love cliffhangers, don’t you guys love them as well? I am asking that you guys please message me any prompts you would like for me to write for my one-shot series. Else I’m just going to keep making sad angsty one-shots. Stay Safe and Healthy guys <3.

Dilemma
Tumblr media
Ship: Tim Drake x You (Y/N)
Type: Fluff
Requested: Yes, by @icycoldbeanieweanies
Words: 2 646
Notes: Thank you for the request, it turned out longer than I thought! I hope you enjoy this little fluff piece and it’s what you wanted! I decided to just go with the proposal, hope that’s okay.
-
Tim was freaking out, he knew that this time was going to come when he asked you out. He knew that you would be the one he would marry because you guys were just perfect for each other. You stayed with him for 4 years, going through all the tough moments with him, being an anchor for him and helping him heal.
You were there for him and he was there for you. Whenever you needed him, he would be there. Whenever you went out alone in Gotham he always made sure one of his brothers was also alert on the streets.
You were everything to him and he wouldn’t know what to do without you.
Which is why he was in a dilemma. How does he ask you to marry him?
You’ve been together for 4 years and he knows that he knows you but it doesn’t make it any easier.
“You’re nerves are making me nervous.” Dick said as he ate breakfast on the stool across from him. “What are you freaking out about?”
Dick was someone who would actually give him advice properly unlike Jason or even Bruce. Dick was reliable in the space of love, at least that’s what Tim thinks as he’s seen how he has a way with women.
“I think I’m going to propose to Y/N.” Tim slowly stated, trying not to freak out while saying it and giving away to Dick how terrified he is at the aspect. Proposing is a huge step. He knows he wants to be with you forever and you probably do too but it’s just so official.
“Finally?” Dick looks up from his food, in surprise. “Dude, it’s been so long that I thought you wouldn’t do it.” Tim just rolled his eyes in response.
“It would be helpful if you… could help me to plan how to do it.” Dick smiled in happiness at the thought that Tim confided in him for this task and trusted his opinion enough to ask for help. He knew how scared Tim probably is.
“Don’t internally implode on me. As long as you don’t let marriage change you. Your relationship won’t change, only that you’re husband and wife.” Tim still continued to freak out inside but definitely wasn’t going to let it show.
“But how do I ask?” The question has been plaguing his mind for months.
He knew you were pretty simplistic with what you wanted but maybe for a marriage proposal you’d want it to be extra special. You guys haven't really talked about it so he didn't know what you would want.
“You’re overthinking things Tim, you know her better than anyone else. You know how to ask her.” Dick could actually see Tim freaking out now which was a problem.
“I don't! We haven’t exactly talked about it!” Tim put his head in his hands, what should he do. Public proposal? What kind of ring? Where?
“You don’t have to ask her, you know her. If it makes you feel better just ask Barb or Steph to take her on a girl’s day and ask her.” Tim’s head whipped up at the suggestion. His eyes widened as he realized how perfect that could be.
“Why did I not think of that?” Tim facepalmed at the easy solution. Surely the best people to ask about this stuff would be your girl friends.
“Because you’re freaking out and I’m just a genius.” Dick shrugged, going back to his eggs that Alfred forced him to eat. Tim just ignores the statement and puts his coffee mug in the sink.
“‘Do you know where they might be?”
“I think they might be in the cave, they were starting to work early on the new case. Heard them talking on the way here.”
“Thanks, Dick.” Tim hurried down to the bat-cave, not bothering to change his clothes, brush his wild hair or anything. He’s been thinking about this proposal for months and he just needs some security -a plan.
You’ve been getting suspicious of him recently as he’s been more twitchy and more in his own head and you know it’s not about the cases because he seems more frustrated. It’s like he’s answering something that can’t be answered and you know that he thinks every case can be solved.
So he needs to hurry up and get a plan and then ask you. Easier said than done but he was tired of worrying.
He gets to the cave and to his surprise, you were also down there with them.
Shit.
They all turned to look at him and Tim paused in his steps, looking at you with his eyes wide. He was off his game, he should've known you were here because you help Barbara and Stephanie with these cases and sometimes even doing them together.
You were in bed when he left and sometime between him getting his 3rd cup of coffee you had gotten up and came here.
“Hey, babe.” You said, walking up to him and kissing him quickly. He responded right away but his head was running for excuses to get Barbra and Steph alone. “Did you need something?”
“Uh…” He looked at Barbara and Steph who were also looking at the both of you. What does he say?
“D-did you have breakfast?” His eyes go back to you, trying to get you away from the cave so he can talk to the other two girls.
“Oh, I’m not hungry right now, I was just helping Barbs and Steph on their case. What are you doing down here? You better not be working on your next case because you just finished your last one at 5am last night.” You looked at him disapprovingly.
His habits were always a huge concern of yours. He was like a walking zombie on best days and that said a lot. You usually forced him to bed with cuddles and affection because you knew he was weak.
“Oh… I was just checking up on you, yeah.” He held your waist, pulling you in close to him and kissing the top of your head. “You’re fine, I guess i’ll go now.” Before you could respond, he left awkwardly fast.
“That was weird.” You frowned at his behaviour. He’s been like this for a while but it’s been prevalent the last few weeks. He was increasingly nervous around you and you were a bit scared.
“What’s his problem?” Barbara asked you, witnessing the whole situation.
“I don’t know, he’s been so weird the past few weeks. I don’t know if he’s stressed with the number of cases or something but he’s just been so… nervous?”
“I’m sure he’s fine, he’ll probably go back to his zombie ways in a few days.” Stephanie waved it off, knowing that you were probably worried about how he was acting towards you. Tim was a weird guy though, he was the smartest but dumbest guy in the world sometimes.
“Yeah, I hope so.” You continue your work with the others, not letting Tim’s attitude ruin your focus.
-
Tim comes up 5 minutes later to see Dick finally putting his plate in the sink.
“Ugh, why is life so hard?” He lays his head down on the cool marble and Dick just looks at him in sympathy.
“What happened?”
“Y/N was there, that’s what happened. I totally forgot that they literally do everything together, it’s gonna be so hard to get the two of them alone. I guess I could ask to talk to Barbara alone or something and then ask her to take Y/N out, then hopefully she can ask her about what kind of proposal she wants and then I can just do that!”
Tim realized he could text her but he really didn’t want you accidentally finding out about it and how tragic would it be if you saw it through text especially since you’ve been with Steph and Barbara all day, you’ll definitely see it.
Dick just laughed at Tim’s situation, wanting to help but he knows that Tim’s going to have to figure this out himself.
“Good luck with that.” With that Dick walks out of the kitchen to go to the cave to focus on his own mission.
“I can do this.” Tim tells himself.
-
He pulls Stephanie away from the whole family, they were all preoccupied with each other. Tim thought it was the best opportunity to relay his problem.
“What’s up?” Stephanie asked him as he held her arm to take her outside the room.
“I need help.” He cut to the chase, not wanting to drag it out any longer. “I need you and Barbara to take Y/N out and ask her what kind of proposal she’d want.” His voice was low and he leaned in to communicate the message, not taking any chances in letting you accidentally hear him.
“Is this why you’ve been weird, you’ve been planning how to propose to her?” She laughs at how distraught Tim looked as he pleaded her to go with the plan. “But if you’re this desperate then I’ll see what I can do.”
Tim sighed in relief. “Thank you, I owe you.”
“Yes, you do. Let’s go back in.” They both enter into the room where Alfred was setting dinner. Usually, you guys wouldn’t eat together but Alfred had recommended that we needed to have a family dinner at least once a week and Bruce agreed with it.
Tim made his way to you and frowned as you didn’t look to be in a good mood.
“Hey, you okay?” You looked up to meet his eyes and just nodded, not saying anything which was odd.
He brushed it off thinking you were in a bad mood and sat down in the chair beside you. He felt relief knowing that the two girls would ask you what kind of proposal you’d want and that he would be able to just go with what you wished.
-
Steph told him that today was the day they planned to go out, just a casual girl hangout at the coffee shop.
Tim prepared himself and after seeing you off, he looked back at the ring he got you and pocketing it. The simple piece of jewelry that would hopefully soon be on your hand. He relaxed on his computer chair, getting started on a case to help him chill and wait for you girls to come back.
What Tim wasn’t prepared for was you barging in the room, your hair all ruffled and a mess. Your whole person a bit disheveled and he looked at you in question.
“What happened? I thought it was a coffee outing.” Tim’s nerves escalated to 100 looking at you.
“It was! Until a dumbass decided to bring his friends over and harass the waitress and then proceed to act innocent and causing a whole scene and then bringing out a gun!” You huffed and plopped yourself onto the bed.
“Then all of his friends decide that they should too!” You laid down in the bed, exhausted from fighting the stupid thugs and just wanting to cuddle your boyfriend.
“Come here and cuddle me, I’m tired.” You extend your arms out to get him to fall into them so you can just take a nap or something.
“Wait, I need to talk to someone real quick. I’ll be right back.” Tim got up from his chair, making it to the door so he could talk to one of the girls to see if they had the chance to ask you.
“Are you going to talk to Steph?” You asked in a small voice. You don’t know where the confidence to ask him came from but maybe it’s just a culmination of his weird behaviour and how he’s been shadily talking to Steph in the past few days.
“Uh, no. Why.” He lied. He couldn’t tell you he was going to talk to Steph or else you’d ask more questions, he doesn’t hide anything from you so it’d be weird if he doesn’t just straight up tell you everything.
“You’ve been weird lately, I don’t know. Is everything okay?” You sat up, worried for him. You wanted to know what’s going on with him, you’ve been letting it pass for too long.
“Yeah, everything’s fine. I swear! I just need a few days and i’ll be okay.” He smiled at you reassuringly. “Alright?” You sigh, you know you should just trust him.
“Okay.”
“I’ll be right back.” Tim doesn’t want to leave you alone but he needs to know what you told them. He makes his way to the living room to see Barbara and Steph in the same state as you.
“What’d she say?”
“She didn’t say anything.” Steph said, annoyed with the predicament.
“What do you mean she didn’t say anything?” Tim whisper exclaimed.
“She means that before we could get to it, those damn thugs had to ruin it.” Tim grabbed at his hair in frustration.
“Damnit, what do I do?” Tim paced back and forth, how does he propose to you now? He doesn’t want to wait another few days for the girls to try and ask you again. He’s been postponing this for months.
“Honestly Tim, just go for it. You know she’s gonna say yes and she doesn’t really care for much for huge parties or surprises. You know that, so just do what feels right.” Barbara patted his shoulder in good luck and left to go clean herself up.
“Good luck!” Steph followed in Barbara’s steps, leaving Tim behind to his thoughts.
That’s it. ‘Do what feels right.’ What feels right to Tim is to just go up there and ask you so that’s what he goes to do.
He barges into the room, startling you in the process but before you utter a word out he dropped down to one knee.
“Y/N I’ve literally thought so much about how I was going to do this and I’m sorry it’s not fancy or in front of everyone but I need to ask you before my mind implodes.” You understood what was going on now. Tim’s behaviour for the past weeks made sense to you now but you didn’t dare to interrupt him and his speech.
“I know this is long overdue and I’m sorry about that but I’m not that great at time management. You are the love of my life and I want to make it official -basically just write it on paper- but I just really want to call you my wife and I want to be your husband. You’re the only person who can handle me at my worst. You are the best part of me. You’re the only one who has an effect on me and changed me as a person. Please Y/N, will you marry me?”
Tim held his breath as he saw you slightly tear up. You walk towards him, pulling him up so you can kiss him right away.
“Of course!” You parted with him only to say yes and kissed him again. Tim somehow managed to slip the ring on your finger while you were a mess in your emotions.
“I waited so long to do this. Everyone kept telling me not to overthink it but I did.” You laughed at him, still holding him close to you. You wrapped your arms around his neck, laying your head on his chest.
“Of course you did. You wouldn’t be my fiancée if you didn’t overthink everything.” You bit your lip at seeing his soft smile as a response to you calling him your fiancée.
“This is the life.” He sighs, hugging you closer to him. You just hummed in response, glad that all his weird behaviour is done with and you progressed in your relationship with him.

Two Sandcastles and Some Chicken Nuggets
(The Dursley's make a sudden move to Gotham city and have no choice but to bring Harry with them. While he's sitting alone at the park, he makes two new friends. Jason and Dick.)
The first in a series inspiered by @hpfannons Batfam/Harry Potter head canons. Thank you so much for letting me write this and for getting back to me so quickly ^-^
------------------------------------
Harry Potter wasn’t sure how he felt about the city. The move to Gotham had been very sudden, Uncle Vernon had gotten a promotion and the whole family had to move. They would have left Harry in England but they couldn’t find ‘other arrangements’ in time so they brought him along.
Dudley was going to the prestigious ‘Gotham Academy’ that was around twenty minutes drive away from the small house they all lived in. Aunt Petunia would drive him every day and pick him up. Harry was going to the public school that took him an hour and a half to walk to every morning. Aunt Petunia wouldn’t ever pick him up from even when it was pouring rain. So Harry got used to walking alone in the large city while it was getting dark. If he wasn’t home by the time the street lamps turned on Aunt Petunia would lock him outside until Vernon got home from work. So Harry learned to run at least part way back home.
Harry liked the city sometimes because there were so many places he could slip away when his Aunt was screaming at him or if Vernon hit him with the belt. His favorite place was the park. On a Saturday afternoon, there were normally so many people there that no one could tell that Harry was alone. Sometimes he even got to play with kids his own age. Dudley couldn’t chase them off, because Petunia never let him go to the park by himself. Sometimes there were scary people at the park but when they showed up, Harry learned that he needed to leave, just like everyone else did.
Sometimes Gotham was a really scary place to live. They had lived there for six months and in that time, Harry’s school had gone on lockdown three times. The first time was because a guy had robbed a bank and barricaded himself in the middle school that was right next to Harry’s campus. The next time was because a man that was called ‘The Joker’ had been spotted close by. The most recent time had been a disgruntled woman who threatened to blow up the city because...well no one really knew why.
Those were the times that Gotham was bad. But otherwise, he really liked his new home. He was back at the park, swinging on the swings, kicking his legs. He was waiting to see if there were any kids who wanted to play with him. It was weirdly empty for a Saturday.
“Uh...hey there!” He heard a friendly voice call out to him. He looked up and saw a young man approaching him with a boy who looked like he was twelve or thirteen years old. “I’m Dick, this is my younger brother, Jason. I was wondering if you would play with him?” The man asked, pushing the boy forward a little bit. Jason looked up at his brother and rolled his eyes.
“Yeah,” Jason said with a shrug. “Let’s go play.”
Harry slowed the swing and looked at the two hesitantly before he stood up and nodded. “We can go play in the sandbox and make a castle,” Harry suggested pointing.
“Yep, sounds great, lead the way.” Jason followed Harry and sat down in the sandbox with him. Jason watched as Harry started digging down in the dirt, pulling up sand that got wet from the last rain storm. Jason looked behind him where Dick was giving him a thumbs up. “So…my brother and I noticed that you come here by yourself all the time. Where are your parents?” Jason asked, a sigh leaving his lips.
Harry looked up with wide eyes, letting the wet sand slip out of his fingers. “Oh, they died in a car crash when I was a baby. My Aunt Petunia said that I got dumped with them after.”
“Oh, well where is your aunt?” Jason pressed.
Harry shrugged. “She’s at home. I come here so I don’t have to be there. They don’t like me very much.” He shrugged and went back to making his sand castle.
Jason winced at how casually Harry said that. “How old are you?”
“I’m eight years old, what about you?”
“I’m thirteen…” Jason didn’t know what to say. “What’s your name?” He asked.
“Harry, nice to meet you, Jason.” Harry had a bright smile and Jason couldn’t help but smile back. They sat quietly for a few minutes and Jason helped Harry build his castle. Jason wouldn’t have said anything else if Harry’s stomach hasn't growled loudly. He flushed pink and put a hand over his stomach. “Sorry,” he muttered, not meeting Jason’s eyes.
“Don’t worry about it, kid,” Jason said. He grit his teeth together just slightly. “Did you have anything to eat today?” He asked.
“Yeah, Aunt Petunia let me have a piece of cheese this morning. I also had half an orange last night.”
“That all?” Jason asked, raising an eyebrow. When Harry nodded happily he sighed. “Alright, how about my brother and I buy you some lunch?” Harry was looking at him with wide eyes, then looked around like he thought something unpleasant was coming from behind. Jason stood up and dusted off his pants. He held his hand out to Harry and waited. Harry hesitated only for a few more seconds before slipping his small hand into Jason’s.
Jason led him over to Dick who was scrolling through his phone. He looked up when Jason was standing right in front of him and smiled. “What’s up, Jay?” He asked. Dick turned to Harry who was looking down at the ground bashfully. He raised an eyebrow at his brother.
“Harry hasn’t had anything to eat today,” Jason said, letting go of Harry and slipping his hands into his jean pocket. “I thought maybe we could get him a kid’s meal or something.” He shrugged.
“Of course we can!” Dick said brightly. He stood up and gestured with his head towards a blue car that was parked on the curb. “Do you need to call someone to tell them where you are?” He asked, already holding out his phone. Harry quickly shook his head. Dick frowned.
They loaded Harry up into the back of the car and drove towards the closest McDonald’s. Harry wanted the chicken nuggets and a sprite. His meal also came with a Batman toy. They parked and watched Harry eat his food. He ate two nuggets and put the other two in the pocket of his baggy pants. Jason gave Dick a single nod the three of them pulled out of the parking lot. “Alright Harry, where would you like us to take you?” Dick asked.
“On Mayor street,” he said, drinking the last of his soda. “I can walk the rest of the way home from there.”
“Well…alright then.” Dick drove silently and kept casting looks at Jason who was texting Alfred about the ‘situation.’ When Dick stopped the car Harry climbed out and waved goodbye to them before running the rest of the way to his front door.
He turned around and watched as Dick and Jason drove away. He looked up and saw that the street lights were on. He tried to open the door, but just like he expected it was locked. He sighed and sat down on the front step. Despite the situation, he was still really happy that he met Jason and Dick. He pressed his hand against his pocket where he felt the chicken nuggets waiting to be eaten later.
He got to see Dick again the next day. “Do you want to build a sandcastle?” He asked, pointing at the empty sandbox. “I brought a bucket today!” He smiled a pulled a green bucket out from behind his back. Harry’s eyes brightened and he nodded. Dick guided him over to the sandbox and the two sat down next to two other children who were being watched by their mothers.
“We’re going to make a magic castle,” Harry said, whispering the forbidden word. He watched Dick closely and was surprised when the young man’s smile brightened.
“That’s really cool, what’s in the magic castle?” He asked, helping Harry load up the bucket with sand.
Harry thought for a second. “There’s a dragon! But he’s a nice dragon. Also there a princess who lives there. But she and the dragon are friends and he scares away prince’s she doesn’t like. Oh! Also, there’s a room that’s always full of food!” He excitedly helped Dick turn the bucket over.
“Harry, can I ask you a few questions?” Dick asked, helping Harry build a moat around the castle.
Harry shrugged, sticking his tongue and concentrating on the sand. “Yeah, okay.”
“Do your aunt and uncle feed you?”
“Yeah, but I have to finish my chores first.”
Dick swallowed but tried to keep his voice steady. “What happens if you don’t finish your chores?” He asked.
Harry shifted uncomfortably. “Oh, well, I have to go to my cupboard without any food. Then if I don’t finish my chores the next day I still won’t get food but Uncle Vernon will hit me with his belt.”
Dick took a deep breath and nodded. “Do you get food from the school?”
“No, Aunt Petunia didn’t want to waste the money. She packs me a cheese stick and a bottle of water and my friend Alley asks her mom to pack me sandwiches a few times a week.”
“That’s very nice of her.” Dick forced a smile.“So can you tell me what you meant by you ‘cupboard?’ Is that a timeout space?”
“No the cupboard under the stairs I where I sleep!” Harry said with a bright smile. “When we moved from England I didn’t think there’d be cupboards here too!"
“And your uncle...does he hit you a lot?”
“Only when I’m bad.” Harry shrugged. “Or when I do something freaky.”
“What do you do that’s ‘freaky’?” Dick asked, shifting closer to Harry.
“M’not sure. Sometimes weird stuff just happens to me, and it’s my fault, so Uncle Vernon hits me.” Harry frowned, rolling a rock around on the ground. “Can we not talk about this anymore?”
Dick paused. “Sure thing, buddy. How about when we finish up our castle we go get something to eat, would you like that?”
Harry nodded excitedly and the two continued building their sand castle. Harry added a few windows before he decided he was hungry and asked Dick if they could go. Dick took him by the hand and even let Harry sit in the front seat. They went to a 24-hour diner and the red-haired waitress greeted Dick by name and took them to an area of the restaurant where there were no other people. “You can order anything you want off the menu, no price limit.”
Harry’s eyes widened and he looked at Dick like he was insane. “You really mean it? Even if it’s ten dollars?” He asked. Dick smiled and nodded. Harry looked down at the menu, scanning it quickly. “Could I have this please?” He asked, pointing to a picture of chicken strips. It was only about eight dollars, but Harry looked far too delighted for Dick to suggest he get anything else.
“Hey, Kate, I think we’re ready,” Dick smiled at the woman who walked over with the pad in hand. “I will have the Slappy burger with the extra slap if you please.” He grinned at the woman who rolled her eyes and wrote it down.
She looked at Harry, her lips turning up. “What about you, hun?” She asked.
“The chicken strips please,” he said quietly.
“Sure thing, it’ll be ready soon.”
Harry looked at the pictures on the kids' menu, coloring with the crayons that the waitress had left for them. “I had a weird dream last night,” he said absentmindedly.
“Yeah? What was it about?” Dick asked, taking a sip of iced tea.
“There was a motorcycle, it was flying.” Harry made a whooshing sound and moved his hand like it was flying. Dick smiled at watched him. “It was a nice dream…it almost felt like a memory.”
“Have you had that dream before?” Dick asked.
“Yeah, I think I must have, but I don’t remember when.” He went back to his coloring and neither of them said anything until ‘Kate’ brought their food out.
Dick watched Harry stuff fries into his pockets. He smiled at Kate. “Whenever Harry comes in, will you give him something to eat? On me?” He asked. She looked at the boy and nodded.
That night when Dick brought Harry home, they said they were going to meet up again after Harry got out of school on Friday. Dick said he’d take him to the ‘movie theater’ with Jason. Harry ran up to his front porch with a huge smile. He turned the doorknob and it was unlocked. Aunt Petunia was talking happily to Dudley about something he’d done in class.
What a smart boy he was. Harry huffed and rolled his eyes, walking into his cupboard and hiding his fries in a little box under the shelf the was above the mattress he had on the floor. He laid down and wrapped himself up in his blanket and grinned from ear to ear. Yes, Harry Potter loved Gotham city.

“Gah,” Jason Todd exclaims, slamming one hand against the steering wheel. Dev, to his credit, does not jump but looks up briefly from the article he is reading on his phone.
“Problem?” Dev asks, glancing ahead at the road from the passenger seat.
“I’m so fricking hungry,” Jason growls, twisting in his seat to look out the rear window. “Tim’s right there. Why the frick did we decide to wait until after her recital to eat?”
“Because it’s barely five in the evening, mate,” Dev answers, sounding vaguely amused. They left the Arts Hall after going to Cassandra’s afternoon ballet recital en masse, and managed to talk Alfred into take-out burgers instead of the older man skipping the recital to prepare food for afterward.
“It’s a stupid time to eat lunch,” Jason snaps. “And why did Tim pick it all up, anyway.”
Dev pockets his phone and gives Jason a level look as the car crawls forward in traffic.
“Mate.”
“What?!” Jason exclaims, throwing his head back. “AUGH.”
“We’re having dinner. Did you not eat lunch?”
“What the hell,” Jason throws an arm in the air and slams the gas to close the gap that’s suddenly opened ahead of them. A second later, he pounds the brake just as hard at a red light. “Alfred told me not to eat!”
“He didn’t mean all day, mate,” Dev says, a little startled now. “You could’ve had lunch.”
“Hold on,” Jason snaps. “Fuck it.”
The younger man throws the gear shift into park and before Dev can even yell in protest, Jason flings the car door open and tumbles out of the car, shaking off his seatbelt.
“Jay!” Dev says, pointlessly, craning to see.
Jason jogs ten feet back and bends down at the window of Tim’s car. Dev can make out Tim’s confused expression through the glass, but a moment later a brown paper bag of food and a drink are extended through the open window.
Jason snatches them and sprints back to his car, sliding into the seat amidst the car’s angry beeping at being left on while the door is open. He buckles again just as the light changes to green and the engine makes an awful revving noise when he presses the gas.
“Drive,” Dev says and Jason whips the gear shift around and they’re moving forward again.
Somehow in those few seconds of running or buckling, Jason has already gotten a cheeseburger out of the bag and is chewing a mouthful.
“I slept in,” he mumbles around a large bite. “Didn’t have time. Goodness gracious, this is heaven.”
“It’s only Park Avenue,” Dev jokes, peering into the bag Jason had thrown onto his lap.
“Listen,” Jason insists, “I love this cheeseburger more than I’ve loved anything or anyone ever. With all my heart. See if there’s another one.”
“The sack’s full of them,” Dev answers, sorting through the wrappers. “No chips, though.”
“Tim said there’s another bag of those,” Jason says, wadding the paper and foil wrapper. He reaches over and grabs another burger. “Alfred will understand.”
“We’ll say I gave you mine if anyone’s miffed,” Dev says, folding the top of the bag shut.
“Well, now I feel bad,” Jason protests, taking another bite anyway.
“I just want chips, mate. I ate lunch like a sane person,” Dev says with a grin.
“Har har,” Jason answers with his mouth full. “Gimme Dick’s next.”
Dev’s hand tightens on the bag and he edges it away from Jason’s reach.
“I’m not gonna eat it,” Jason says, putting a hand up in a gesture of assurance. “I’m just gonna lick it and put it back. I’ll tell him later.”
Dev raises an eyebrow and moves the bag further away.
“You are zero fun, Dr. Frankenstein,” Jason grumbles, turning off the main road stretch they’d been on. “It’s like you’ve been spending too much time with Bruce.”
“Don’t act surprised,” Dev says. “If you get him ill, guess who has to take care of it?”
“Alfred?” Jason asks. “Okay, yeah. That’s a deterrent.”
“I meant me, you plonker,” Dev says, his tone offended. “I’d not leave him to Alfie alone.”
“Oh, in that case, hand it over anyway.” Jason shrugs and slurps soda from the cup and then makes a face. “This is fucking gross. Why is this orange.”
“Your da’s, and I’ve tried to talk him out of it,” Dev says, pressing his shoulder against the door to brace himself. “Bloody hell, Jay, slow for the turns or we’ll both end up zombies.”
“You aren’t a Wayne,” Jason scoffs. “What makes you think you’d come back?”
“Steph’s not a Wayne and she came back,” Dev retorts, taking the cup out of Jason’s hand. “If you don’t care about us, at least have mercy on your sodding suspension.”
“It’s Bruce’s car. I don’t care,” Jason says, speeding through a yellow light. He glances in the rearview mirror. “And Steph didn’t actually die. Good. We lost Tim.”
“Were we trying to lose Timothy?” Dev asks, turning his head to look out the back.
“We’re racing,” Jason answers. A second later, he cuts the wheel hard and they slam around a corner into an alleyway. “Fish-fucking-sticks, I forgot about that new bridge. I bet Tim took it.”
“I did not agree to racing,” Dev says firmly. “Not in the middle of Gotham.”
“We have to get you away from Bruce. He’s rubbing off on you and it’s awful.” Jason doesn’t slow down coming out of the alley and takes a u-turn almost immediately on the road he joins.
“Have you ever been in a car with Bruce, mate,” Dev says. “Bloody hell, at this point, I’m not even going to want chips. Your da drives like a bat out–” He stops abruptly.
Jason turns to him with a wicked grin.
“Finish it,” he orders, blowing through a yellow light.
“I’m just going to stop talking,” Dev says instead. “I’m going to close my eyes and whinge to Alfie when we get back and never get in a car I’m not driving, ever again.”
“If you don’t want your fries, can I have those, too?” Jason asks, slowing suddenly. They crawl down the street at five miles under the speed limit and Dev watches out the window as they pass a squad car tucked back into an alley with a radar gun. “Do you know if they jokerized them?”
“If they what?” Dev replies, his stomach turning. As soon as they’re around a corner, the car picks up speed again.
“The fries. Did they jokerize them. The seasoning?” Jason says, as if this is obvious. “They’re crap without it but sometimes Tim skips it because Bruce gets weird about it.”
“How dare your da get weird about remembering you died,” Dev says dryly. “The sodding audacity.”
“Hey,” Jason says, coughing. He picks up the soda and drinks some. The younger man makes a face at the taste and then sips it again anyway. “You’re doing better. You didn’t pause all funny before you said it this time.”
“Audacity?” Dev says with a grin. “I’m shite at writing, but I can manage some big words.”
“You know what the frick I mean,” Jason laughs. “I’m pretty sure we lost, by the way. Check Tim’s location.”
“I’m not ringing him, mate. If he’s still driving, he’ll answer anyway. The lot of you have no self-preservation skills whatsoever,” Dev refuses as they drive over the bridge toward the more secluded Manor.
“You’re so old,” Jason complains. “Just open your texts and go to his contact info. It should be right there. Dick made him share his location with everyone after that insomnia thing.”
Dev slides his phone out of his pocket with his free hand and taps on the screen.
“Huh,” he says. “This is bloody convenient. He’s half a mile from the Manor and not moving. I hope Dames is okay.”
“Why wouldn’t Damian be okay?” Jason asks, looking over sharply.
“He was in the back, yeah? And if Tim was driving anything like you were…” Dev trails off as if this is enough information.
“You lost me,” Jason says. “Damian’s an idiot but he wouldn’t try to take over.”
“He gets carsick in the backseat, mate,” Dev says, typing a text while he talks. “Did you not know?”
“How do you know that?” Jason demands. “Gah, it’s like you’re turning into Alfred.”
“He was sick all over my car on the way to Lake Vernon last summer. He was too sodding stubborn to ask me to stop.”
“I don’t even know why you stick around,” Jason exclaims, braking to a stop. Tim’s car is on the shoulder of the road but the car is empty.
“Mostly for tea,” Dev says, opening his door. “I’ll look about.” He sets the bag of cheeseburgers on the seat when he stands, then he stoops over and gives Jason a skeptical glance and takes the bag with him.
Jason flicks the hazard lights on and climbs out. He squints, looking down the road.
“They’re up there, walking,” he says.
“The petrol tank says it’s empty,” Dev adds, looking through the driver’s side window of Tim’s car.
“Get back in,” Jason says quickly. “Hurry. He saw us.”
Dev obeys and barely is buckled again before the car speeds forward.
“What the bloody hell,” he yelps as the speedometer tips toward 60 miles per hour. They rush past Stephanie and Cassandra, who are holding bags of food and trays of drinks. A second later, they speed past Tim and Damian, who are both sprinting.
“We can still win,” Jason says. “And loser has to tell Bruce that we broke the T-Rex’s head before the recital.”
“You what,” Dev exclaims. “Does this mean we’re free? We can burn it in the yard?”
“He’s going to fix it. He fixed it last time.”
“Then what’s the bloody point?” Dev demands, sounding defeated. “How did you break it, anyway?”
“Um,” Jason says reluctantly. “We shot it. But it was an accident. And we won!”
The car skids to a stop on the drive in front of the Manor with a whining screech.
“You accidentally shot…the head of…the massive dinosaur…” Dev summarizes faintly.
“Mhmm. With a crossbow,” Jason says. “We didn’t think it’d just fucking shatter like that, but I guess it’s gotten brittle. And now Tim gets to tell Bruce and I swear to god someone will die if they didn’t season those fries.” He’s already out of the car and he bangs on the roof. “You coming?”
“Yes,” Dev says in a detached voice. “But only because Alfie’s inside and I can find some semblance of sanity there, otherwise I’d just spend the night right here, thanks.”
“Can I still have your fries?” Jason asks, turning to give Tim and Damian the finger as they stagger onto the front lawn from the road. Tim gives it back and sits down on the grass and Damian runs faster. Jason yells and bolts up the stairs. “Answer me inside! If I’m still alive!”
Dev waves to Tim who waves limply before falling onto his back on the lawn.
“I’m so hungry!” the faint yell carries to the car. “Can you throw me a cheeseburger?”
“What, did none of you eat before?” Dev shouts back, his grip tightening on the bag.
“I slept in!” Tim replies. “And then the burgers were stolen.”
Dev sighs and turns toward the Manor.
“Drag your sorry arse inside,” he calls over his shoulder. He stops and takes a cheeseburger out and sets it on the steps. “Here. I’m luring you.”
When he glances back, Tim raises a hand in a thumbs-up gesture.
“This sodding family,” Dev mutters. Alfred appears just inside the doorway and doesn’t flinch or blink at the sound of crashing behind him.
“In one piece?” the older man asks calmly.
“Just barely,” Dev replies. “I thought ballet was supposed to be calm and civilized.”
“Not for the Waynes,” Alfred says with a slight smile, stepping aside. “But I hardly think this should be news to you.”
Jason steps around Alfred and back out onto the top step with a struggling, protesting Damian thrown over his shoulder.
“Did you jokerize the fries?” he roars down toward the lawn where Tim is still lying. Tim sits up and cups his hands around his mouth to shout back.
“Of course I did. They’re gross plain.”
“Eat them outside!” Bruce’s voice carries out of the house from somewhere down a hallway. “Or I throw them away!”
Jason drops Damian, who just barely manages to land on his feet, and he tips his head back and growls.
“You’re repressing everyone!” he complains loudly.
“I’ll clean the patio table,” Alfred says, disappearing inside.
“My house, my rules!” Bruce answers and Jason turns and slams the door shut.
The girls are at the edge of the lawn now, still carrying food. Cassandra is slurping slushie through a fat straw. A window above the steps opens and Dick leans out.
“Did Jason lick my cheeseburger again?” he demands of the crowd in general. “Jay. Jason.”
“Frick yes I did,” Jason says.
“He didn’t,” Dev answers, holding the bag aloft. The window shuts.
“You have no sense of fun,” Jason moans, snatching Damian up again. The boy is as tall as Tim now, so it’s less like watching a child being picked up and more like watching someone be abducted. “Come on, Demonbird. We’re going to jump in the pool just like this.”
Tim has dragged himself to his feet and joins Dev on the steps. He leans over and picks up the cheeseburger sitting on the ground and unwraps it.
“I have to tell Bruce about the T-Rex,” he mutters. “Wanna come?”
“Why not,” Dev answers with a shrug. “It’s safer than being by the pool.”
