How to prepare for the end of the world

Pack it up.

Shut it down.

Turn that frown,

Upside down.

A life unlived,

Was it worth it?

The time has come,

To find the purpose.

Tie up lose ends,

Protect your heart.

You’ve yet to see,

The worst part.

If only I had known,

How much more I could hurt.

I would’ve tried a little harder,

I would’ve brushed off the dirt.

Little did I know,

It gets so much worse.

To survive the end of the world,

You must lose yourself first.

You’ve tried it all,

Inside and out.

To heal your yourself-

Even the ‘healthy’ route.

At each step,

I feel myself stray.

To prepare for the end of the world,

You must accept- you won’t be okay.

Swallowing pills.

Swallowing pride.

They lied.

The end of the world does not come in peace.

It isn’t over in a flash.

You’ll feel the pain of the past,

The wrath of the laughs,

And the inability and inescapably to comprehend the end.

Because it isn’t what they say.

You’re going to burn,

You’re going to cry,

You’re going to wish you could hide.

It comes in waves,

It takes you from the shore.

You didn’t even go under,

But it still wants more.

The waves crash and pull,

You can’t seem to get air,

You can’t even see your stuff,

You don’t even know where…

Where did you go wrong?

You were taught how to swim.

When did it get so hard,

To live.

Together

After fighting so long,

I had given up.

Abandoned the war,

That we were fighting for.

When I realized,

I was the only one fighting,

You weren’t by my side

Boots weren’t even laced up.

I vowed never to go-

Back to war,

But then I found the one,

Worth fighting for.

He meets me in our flight or fall,

He stands with me through it all.

He reassures me,

He proves it to me.

He and I, are in this together.

We’ll fight side by side forever,

He’s staying firm and holding on.
