Alongside Arthur aired many other TV shows throughout the 2000s. Here are a selection of classic children's TV shows I used to watch. I have added each shows opening title underneath. Most of these I watched between 2000 and 2009. Dick & Dom in Da Bungalow (2002 - 2006)
Dick & Dom in Da Bungalow is a messy children's game show hosted by Richard MCcourt (Dick) and Dominic Wood (Dom).
It was directed by Simon Hepworth and aired on CBBC.

Diddy Dick & Dom are miniature, high pitched voiced versions of the shows presenters that appear in the puppet cupboard. See a video compilation here (contains lots of innuendo jokes!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AERBVivlLrg
Da Bungalow came to a very mucky ending on March 11th 2006. Here is the very, very mad ending to the show!

ANOTHER COMICS POST (sorry) because DC released their December Solicits and there is MUCH TO GEEK OUT OVER.
Also, preview pages for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow #4!
Spoilers, natch.
NON-SUPERGIRL: WOMAN OF TOMORROW STUFF, BUT STILL SUPERGIRL-RELATED BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT WE’RE HERE FOR. I ASSUME.
World of Krypton - Six issue limited series from Venditti and Oeming; Venditti wrote a Supergirl annual fairly recently, and Oeming is probably best known for his work on Bendis’ Powers series. The book will focus on the time period right before Krypton’s destruction, so you get Jor-El! Dru-Zod! A young Kara Zor-El! AND PUPPY KRYPTO. As mentioned in a prior post, I’m just happy that DC is actually doing Super-related stuff, since so much of their line is currently mired in Bat books.
Dark Knights of Steel #3 - There was much hubbub last month when Taylor and Co. revealed the cover to issue two--was that blonde woman next to Clark Kara?!?!?!?! If the new cover to issue 3 is anything to go by--yeah. Kara’s probably in this. And on the covers. So, maybe she’ll have a prominent role? Guess we’ll see. Regardless, looking forward to all the cool fantasy designs from Putri.
Honorable, Non-Supergirl Mentions: Steph, Cass, and Babs are together again in a new Batgirls book! Power-Girl is gonna be in a Heroes-For-Hire type title! The Justice League is gonna fight the Legion of Superheroes, maybe? Action Comics will presumably continue to kick butt! And oh man, Nightwing is gonna do a ‘De Luca effect’ issue; basically, no panels, it’s all one single, continuous image, for twenty-two pages.
SUPERGIRL: WOMAN OF TOMORROW STUFF
So, not entirely sure why--maybe it’s an end of year/holidays timing situation, but either way, we’ve got solicits for both issue 6 and 7.
And boy, oh boy. There is some STUFF.
Covers first. Because of course.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’d include the variant covers as well, but worry the post would get really long and unwieldy, so I’ll just note that Steve Rude has a variant out for issue 6, and Nicola Scott is handling the variant for 7. Both are lovely.
Obviously, I love both of the main covers, but if forced to choose? That issue 6 cover is a winner.
Evely doing Kryptonian stuff? HECK YEAH!
Also I wonder if that’s Krypton exploding behind Zor and Alura; if so, that’s a very cool twist on the usual planet-destruction image you tend to see in Super comics! The shapes and colors are neat.
Kara looks like, resigned to her fate. ‘Come at me, bro. Might as well.’ XD
The text for six: The traumatic secrets of Supergirl’s past are revealed as our heroine races to the edge of the universe to escape Krem and his latest weapon! The murderer of young Ruthye’s father has gotten his hands on a Mordru globe and plans to use it to make our hero disappear forever. Can she save herself and the young girl’s future in the process? She’ll need the help of her trusty steed, Comet the Superhorse!
The text for seven: It’s the moment you’ve been waiting for…the capture of Krem! With the fugitive in custody, Supergirl must now deal with his allies, the ungodly Brigands! To stop them once and for all, she must leave Ruthye behind with the man who killed her beloved father. Can she trust the young girl to let the villain of our story live long enough to stand trial? Or is this the tragic end of his story and ours?
SO OBVIOUSLY I’M HORRIFIED AND THRILLED BY THE RETURN OF COMET IN REGULAR DC COMICS CONTINUITY.
But also like yes, YES, bring on that Argo City trauma.
And a MORDRU GLOBE?!??!??! TOM KING PULLIN’ OUT SOME LEGION LORE FOR THIS?!?!?!?!?!
NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE.
Related, I suppose: That pic Evely posted recently of Kara (I assume it’s Kara) featured what looked to me like slightly shorter hair--it was similar to the way she drew Kara in Sugar and Spike, which featured a younger, distinctly Silver Age Supergirl.
Here’s the pic again, for reference:
Tumblr media
And now seeing similar shoulder chevrons on Zor and Alura, that’s got me thinkin’ this is Argo Kara.
Anyways. Just speculatin’.
Alright, time for some preview pages.
Once more, not gonna post ‘em all, because I’m sure I’ll cover the whole issue in a separate post, but here we go, SOME FAVS:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(There’s another page between these, just to be clear.)
As always, love these moments of impossibly gentle and caring Kara.
This is a pretty brutal book, as we’ve seen in the previous issue, as well as these very preview pages, but King offsets all that brutality with these beautiful little moments of Kara helping people. Not just faceless crowds, either! But individuals.
It’s good.
And THUS CONCLUDES Supergirl Comics Talk with Stranger.
Will be back at it again for my usual ‘full issue of SG:WOT’ post next week!

The Four Episode Crossover Event between Teen Titans Go and the DC Superhero Girls!
Tumblr media
So the concept is both teams got a free vacation to the Space House and decide to wing it. As they get their rooms, Karen (aka Bumblebee) doesn’t like her room because it looks like an evil cryo-chamber is leaking. And she was right because the alien that she thought she saw in there escaped and is in the house. So Babs thinks this is a good time for her to face her fears while trying to prove she’s the best detective compared to Robin.
Tumblr media
On an aside, you think with the Superhero Girls I would consider Supergirl or Jessica Cruz my favorites since one is the Rainbow Dash equivalent and the other is a Green Lantern. But Bumblebee is my favorite of the group. She has the attributes I like in Fluttershy but added love of technology, shipping, and stuff you know are bad but just can’t help but enjoy. A kindred spirit if you will. Anyway it ends with her beating Starro who just wanted to vacation there and regretting not throwing Robin out instead. See, kindred spirit.
Tumblr media
In Part 2, Beast Boy gets Smegal with Jessica’s ring, making it fall into Zatana’s Hat and thus magical world within. So Jessica, Robin, Zatana, Wonder Woman, and Raven go inside to prevent Beast Boy from getting to the ring. Meanwhile Supergirl and the rest decide that they can handle it and continue to watch Muffin Wars. This includes Karen. Again, kindred spirit.
Tumblr media
Now this part has many flaws. While its Zatana’s hat, it feels closer to the TTG side of things. Robin is trying to give a motivational speech to Jessica about not needing powers, only to prove that they do. And Raven and Zatana don’t do much but be magically powerful together. Beast Boy gets the ring, becomes a monster, but Jessica out thinks Beast Boy and manages to get the ring back from him. Now Starfire is obsessed with his new tiny form. This story overall felt more Teen Titans Go than balanced. Granted, Part 1 was definitely DCSHG focused, but Part 3 and 4 will fix that.
Tumblr media
Part 3 has a Meaty Ore heading towards him. Its up to Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Starfire and Cyborg to stop it. But they all got their own ideas. So they decide to use simulations to see what would happen. Supergirl’s Plan: Be awesome. Didn’t work. Starfire’s plan: live on the meaty ore. It worked better but eventually spoiled milk. Wonder Woman’s plan: Steve Trevor. After all, he worked in the military so he could in theory come up with a good plan.
Tumblr media
Its a shame he’s her Kryptonite. Whenever he’s around, she shuts her brain off. So she spends the rest of their panning time living out a fantasy with him. So all they got left is Cyborg’s plan: re-enact the Armageddon movie. Be Oil Drillers, slow motion walk, crash into the meteorite, Beast Boy playing the role of Bruce Willis’s Daughter and having to leave one body there to detonate it. If only they played I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing. Don’t worry, they all made it out since Cyborg can use his body without his head.
Tumblr media
Part 4 has the super obvious reveal that it was Brainiac behind all this. He gathered every super hero from every universe (including the Animated Series, Brave and Bold and original Titans) to get a collection. But this is Go’s Brainiac and he’s basically a stereotypical nerd who lives with his mother. The duo make a deal with him that if they can turn him into an adult, they will let go. After some terrible results, it works.
Tumblr media
Thing is now that he’s “matured”, he’s now done with collecting and is now having the hobby of blowing up planets. So all the heroes and villains, not just the DC Superhero Girls and Teen Titans Go, but everyone, worked together to defeat Brainiac. It ends with the two teams we’ve been following ditching everyone else there so they can go to a Space Beach. I’m sure they can figure out how to drive their houses like the two did.
Tumblr media
Also Teen Titans Go Superman, Young Justice Superboy, and Krypto the Superdog Krypto!
Overall, its a fun story. Part 2 was the weakest to me and Part 4 was annoying, but Part 1 and 3 were definitely my favorite parts. I recommend watching those two parts before Part 2 and 4.

Hey! Do you mind if I ask for some Titans!Gar headcanons of yours? :) Thanks!
Why certainly Anon! I’m always down to talk about my boy!
Tumblr media
- Gar’s favorite jacket is his favorite because Rita made it just for him, by hand. It was Cliff’s idea to add the green paw print.
- Gar has perfect pitch even though no one knows it. Not even him. He just happens to be really good at playing most instruments and singing. When Jason went out to buy a guitar, he took Gar with him and the boy pick one up and started playing like a natural. He liked the feeling of playing it so much, he bought one too.
- When Rachel finds out he can play, she gets him to play a song for her. He’s super nervous about it, but as his fingers begin to strum the cords, he finds himself getting lost in the song. Rachel was too busy watching him that she forgot to poke fun at him and instead just sat and listened intently. When he was done, she told him if this hero thing doesn’t work out, he should start a band and she’ll be his manager.
- Kory reminds Gar of Rita in a lot of ways. Confident, classy, and good at advice. Sometimes when he feels homesick, he’ll try to hang out with her. Kory knows all too well what it’s like to miss home, even if you know you are where you belong.
- After the incident with Trigon, Dick has been extra nice to Gar. He always makes sure there’s a vegan option in the fridge or when they eat out. He doesn’t get onto him as much as he does the others if he’s late to training or goofing off. And whenever Gar wants to buy something, rather it is a new collectible, new clothes, or video game, it doesn’t take much to convince Dick to pay. Gar doesn’t take advantage of Dick’s kindness, but it’s clear to the others that Dick babies him a bit.
- Dick eventually breaks down and lets Gar talk to Batman over the phone. Bruce agreed to one minute and not a second more. Best. Birthday. Ever.
- Gar really wants to work on turning into other animals, but his favorite is still the Tiger.
- Gar has every gaming console one could want, including a vintage Atari. He can’t fit his old pinball and gaming machines in his new room, but at least he has more games to choose from.
- Gar loves streaming his games and sometimes Rachel with come into his room and watch him. He got her to say hi one time, but then all the guys started asking Gar about “his new girlfriend” and he got flustered and rage quit the stream. Rachel wasn’t too bothered by it, but Gar doesn’t ask her to talk anymore on his streams.
- Gar played video games with most everyone in the tower. He taught Rachel a few games, but she loses interest quickly and usually just prefers to watch. He and Jason can blow the night on a single game as long as it involves combat of some kind (Jason also introduced him to Grand Theft Auto). Dick found him playing in his room and was curious about what all the fuss was about so he gave it a go. Turns out, Dick really sucks at virtual hand-to-hand combat, but he held his own as an archer. Kory tried playing once too, but she got pissed and ended up melting Gar’s good controller. She gave him a $100 bill and said “Don’t tell Dick.”
- Gar becomes the official Krypto dogsitter whenever Conner can’t watch him.
- Dick got Gar a bunch of books about biology and anatomy to help him with his powers but found out through Rachel that Gar doesn’t know how to read. He’s functionally illiterate, which means he knows enough words to get by, but he really struggles with the academic books Dick got him. Realizing it’s not Gar’s fault he isn’t studying, Dick comes up with a new approach. He buys a bunch of nature documentaries, takes Gar to meet with biologists he has connections with, and yes, hires a private tutor to build up his reading skills.
I could go on all day, but hopefully, these are enough for now. Thanks for asking!

A Titans Christmas
A little fanfic about the Titans bonding as a family over the holidays after the loss of Donna. Yes I included Rachel eventhough she's supposed to be in Themyscira, but my idea wouldn't have worked if I didn't. Anyways enjoy!!! 😁
"Gar! You better tell me why you dragged me all the way out here or I'm going back to the tower!" Rachel demanded. "Please don't leave! I brought you here because I need help going Christmas shopping." Gar smiled nervously. "....I don't know Gar, are you sure that's a good idea?" Rachel's brow furrowed. "I know it hasn't been easy, for any of us. But I thought maybe decorating the tower together would be a great way for us to bond as a family." Gar explained. "That...actually sounds really nice." Rachel smiled. "Then let's get shopping!" Gar started towards the store. "Wait, how are we going to pay for all this stuff?" Rachel questioned. "Don't worry, I got it covered." Gar assured her. "Please don't tell me you stole Dick's credit card!" Rachel laughed, only half joking. "What?! No! I've been saving up." Gar smiled, pulling out a wad of cash from his front pocket. "Wow." Rachel's eyes widened. "Yup! Now let's go!" Gar eagerly shoved the wad back in his pocket as they walked inside.
*3 Hours Later*
"You think we got enough stuff?" Rachel asked, a hint of sarcasm in her voice as she piled bags of decorations into the elevator. "Absolutely! Now let's hurry, I want to surprise everyone!" Gar smiled, grabbing the rest of the bags.
*Ding!*
The elevator doors opened and everything came toppling down, including Gar and Rachel. "Gar!" "Rachel!" Dawn and Dick exclaimed, running over to the elevator. "You guys okay?" Dick asked, helping Rachel to her feet. "Yeah we're good." Rachel assured him. "What's all this?" Dawn asked, holding up an ornament. "Christmas decorations! I thought decorating the tower might help us bond as family." Gar explained nervously. "That sounds like a wonderful idea." Dawn smiled. Dawn, Gar and Rachel gathered the scattered decorations and Dick got to work on the tree.
"What's Christmas?" Kory and Connor questioned. "It's a celebration. You get to sing songs, bake cookies, put up decorations and give and receive presents." Rachel smiled, describing it as best she could. "But it's not just about that stuff, it's about being with your family." Gar explained. "I like it." Kory smiled. "Me too!" Connor exclaimed. "Great! Connor you can hang up the lights! And Kory, you can come help us decorate the tree!" Gar smiled, holding up a bag of ornaments. Connor sped around the tower with rolls of lights on his arms. "Did we get a topper?" Rachel asked as she rummaged through the bags. "Yeah, it's in here." Gar handed Rachel a small bag. "And done." Dick smiled. Everyone took a step back to admire their efforts. "It's beautiful!" Dawn smiled. "Yeah." Rose agreed. "Oh! I almost forgot!" Gar exclaimed, running off to his room.
Gar returned with an arm full of stockings. "Are those ours?" Rachel asked. "Yup! I made them myself!" Gar beamed with excitement as he handed them out. "Not bad tiger boy." Rose smiled. "Okay, now look inside them!" Gar could barely contain himself. They all gasped as they held up the ornaments, each one unique to them. A raven for Rachel, a football for Hank, ballet shoes for Dawn, a spaceship for Kory (Gar tried his best to make it look like Kory's actual ship), a silver rose for Rose, a superman symbol and mini Krypto for Conner and Krypto, a miniature version of THE Porsche (the one he sold for a minivan) for Dick, and a tiger affectionately painted green for Gar. "These are amazing!" Rachel gushed. "Yeah, you've really outdone yourself Gar." Dick smiled. One by one, they each hung their ornaments on the tree. "There's one more." Gar reached into his stocking. A miniature film camera. "For Donna." Gar smiled sadly as he placed it on the tree.

You know what McDonalds should do this summer (or whenever, but I think it would be best suited in the Summer), they should do these McRobo Changeables, only this time these Changeables will be like the size of the Go-Bots toys and they will be able to transform from a common McDonalds food product to a full size robot with the whole body and legs and arms and everything, plus it will have actual working weapons and a Munchoid plastic pop-up display/weapon shooting target [P.S. the Munchoids are a of evil Reptilian/Dinosaur warriors that gain power from eating a special substance known as "Nacku" that is found in regular fast-food grease witch, while fattening to humans, gives them unbelievable strength and power, but wears off after 2-3 minutes, they use this power to take over planets, so the Changeables disguise and shrinks (or as they like to call it "re-materialize) into the size of a regular food product, so they can transform and re-materialize big to give the Munchoids the surprise attack, cause dinosaurs have a hard time telling things apart, and I used the Munchoids because they said that in the commercials] it'll be like an actual transforming toy robot in the 80's, even the commercials will be like in an 80's commercial style with the quality and everything, here's some examples of the figures:
https://www.deviantart.com/seanrm/art/Fries-298313617 https://www.deviantart.com/seanrm/art/Big-Mac-297165891 https://www.deviantart.com/shinmusashi44/art/Krypto-Cup-Changeables-176962624
(of course these are just the prototype drawings) But they won't just sell 7 toys all month, no, they will sell 7 new toys each month for 4 months during the summer (May, June, July, & August) each month will have new kind of changeable toys with different designs and their will be a commercial for each week:
Month 1 (May): 7 Basic McRobo Changeables for to start out the series
Month 2 (June): 7 McRobo Changeables Color-Changers that change colors with warm or cold water, and they change color into different flavors of the food products, cause 3 are based on chicken wraps and sandwiches that change from spicy to mild, 3 are based off milk bottles and ice cream that change from chocolate to vanilla, and 1 is based off a chicken 20 piece box that changes from a 20 piece Chicken McNuggets box to a 20 Mighty Wings box
Month 3 (July): 7 McDino Changeables, which are dinosaurs that change into McDonalds food products (including a T-Rex that changes into a Happy Meal box), who are created by the Munchoids with the Changeables Robot DNA (or "RNA" as they call it) to be an equal match to the Changeables, but they become rebellious and goes out to destroy the Changeables on their own, and these dinosaurs are more vicious than their 1991 counterparts, while still looking true to their disguise when they are in their food form, and they even have special weapons that they can attach to themselves
Month 4 (August): 7 Rare McRobo Changeables that when you get all 7 of those rare toys you can combine them into one big fighting robot
And everytime you get a figure you will also get a paper coin called "the Galacta Token" and if you get 3 Galacta Tokens, you can trade them in and ether get a full comic book or animated episode on DVD of your choice, each of them feature an adventure featuring the adventures of the Changeables and their new human friends, excited and adventurous 11 year old boy Travis Barnes, his super smart but is still not toilet trained (as a joke) 5 year old little sister Gina Barnes, and their beautiful and hot but extremely unlucky (although she does try to keep her cool) 15 year old female cousin (and babysitter) Megan Barnes, in their adventures to stop the Munchoids from stealing the food from the world and using it's power to take over the world, with new adventures each week that are based off the toys they are selling that month, and there will be different colored Galacta Tokens to tell which month is that token is for:
Month 1 (May): Green
Month 2 (June): Red
Month 3 (July): Blue
Month 4 (August): Yellow
put in commercials for the Happy Meals that looks straight out of an 80s toy commercial and this will be McDonalds's biggest Happy Meal Toy deal ever!
what do you think, would that be a good idea?

Let’s Talk #DCSuperHeroGirls
Normally, animated superhero adaptations avoid sharing similar titles unless they are about a titular character or team such as Batman or the Teen Titans. Then there is DC Super Hero Girls, which is the name of both an ongoing YouTube and upcoming Cartoon Network series.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For my thoughts on both shows, feel free to keep reading. There will be spoilers.
DC Super Hero Girls is a toy brand by DC and Mattel aimed mainly at a young female audience that highlights the former company’s female heroes and villains. It could be seen as their attempt to compete with similar franchises such as My Little Pony: Equestria Girls and Monster High. All three franchises have one thing in common: Their characters attend high school.
Tumblr media
The 2015 YouTube series centers around several heroes and villains attending Super Hero High. The school’s principal is Amanda Waller, while the teachers are a mixture of heroes and villains. The titular main team consists of Batgirl/Barbara Gordon, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Bumblebee, Poison Ivy, Katana, and Harley Quinn. Throughout many episodes, the group meet and confront multiple characters such as Beast Boy, Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and Jessica Cruz, The Riddler, Lena Luthor, Raven, and Krypto.
Tumblr media
What makes the show unique from other DC productions is how some of the villains are shown as being friends with the heroes. It is an interesting creative choice that mostly serves to highlight some of DC’s famous villains like Harley, Ivy, and Katana.
Tumblr media
At the same time, it also shows that they may have wanted to highlight the villains far more than their other heroes such as Miss Martian, Black Canary, Wonder Girl, or Zatanna.
Tumblr media
The show originally highlighted standard high school or teenage conflicts but in a superhero way, such as the characters winning awards, competing in sports, romance, and homework. By the third season, it mostly became a standard superhero series where the characters balance out their school work while also dealing with the bad guys around the school.
It has become popular enough to not only last five seasons on YouTube but also garner comic books, a half-hour TV special on Boomerang, and multiple direct-to-video films, some of which are based on the LEGO version of the franchise.
Tumblr media
If I had to point out any flaws, it would have to be how many heroes and villains are shown as either teenagers or faculty members. The show appears to heavily imply that the only adult heroes around are Batman and Superman (neither of which appear in the web series). Similarly, only a few villains are shown to be adults such as Granny Goodness, Firefly, and Trigon. This situation is reminiscent of how the 2003 Teen Titans series never showed or referenced any adult heroes aside from Batman. Like with that show...
youtube
The flash animation is somewhat inconsistent. The first four seasons look relatively decent for a YouTube series and are vastly superior to Warner Bros’ previous flash-based series Gotham Girls.
Tumblr media
Sadly, the recent fifth season looks terrible by the odd lack of shadows, static backgrounds, and limited character movement.
Tumblr media
The LEGO-based productions look great by comparison, mostly due to the high quality CG animation used for that brand’s direct-to-video films and TV specials.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A major positive worth noting is the show's wide range of voice actors, some of which are reprising their roles from past series. Mae Whitman, for example, played Batgirl for the series’ first four seasons after having previously voiced the character on Batman: The Brave and The Bold. Other actors reprising their roles include Josh Keaton as Hal (from Green Lantern: The Animated Series), Tara Strong as both Harley (from the Batman Arkham games) and Raven,  Khary Payton as Cyborg, Greg Cipes as Beast Boy, and Hynden Walch as both Starfire and Blackfire (from Teen Titans and Teen Titans Go!).
Tumblr media
There is nothing offensive or insulting about the web series. It is clearly not aimed at a general audience. Longtime fans of any of the featured heroes and villains might find it either degrading or disappointing to see them just going to high school rather than fighting each other.
Tumblr media
It has been able to coexist with DC’s other films and series as just another franchise featuring their characters. While it may have inconsistent animation and a questionable premise, it is definitely worth a watch just to hear the voice actors reprise their roles in a different setting.
As the web series is entering what may be its fifth and final season, the Cartoon Network reboot has already made its debut by “The Late Batsby” short currently being presented before showings of Teen Titans Go! To The Movies.
Tumblr media
(As a side note, I Highly Recommend that hilarious film.)
The upcoming reboot is from Lauren Faust, the series creator of Discovery Family’s My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
Tumblr media
Based solely on the short, it heavily resembles her previous DC production Super Best Friends Forever, a series of comedic shorts featuring Batgirl (Tara Strong, reprising her role from The New Batman Adventures), Supergirl (Nicole Sullivan of MADtv), and Wonder Girl/Donna Troy (Grey Griffin) which originally aired in 2012 as part of the short-lived DC Nation block on Cartoon Network.
Tumblr media
In fact, "The Late Batsby” is a remake of the short “Time Waits For No Girl”. The alterations made for the new short were swapping out Poison Ivy for Mr. Freeze, giving Supergirl and Freeze each a line of dialogue, and introducing the entire team.
Tumblr media
Strong and Sullivan are reprising their respective roles of Batgirl and Supergirl for the reboot, while Griffin will reprise her role of Wonder Woman from the web series. The rebooted team retains Bumblebee from the original group but also adds the aforementioned Jessica and Zatanna.
Aside from the title and voice actors, it appears that the Cartoon Network reboot will feature a completely different story.
Tumblr media
The team now solely consists of heroes, Commissioner Gordon is once again unaware of his daughter’s secret identity, and the new animation style looks far more fluid than the web series.
While the reboot will premiere sometime later this year, the web series is still currently streaming new episodes. The franchise’s social media accounts have called the reboot team “the New DC Super Hero Girls” and the fifth season premiere began with a teaser for “The Late Batsby”. It seems unlikely that the web series will continue past its current fifth season and presumably end prior to the TV show’s premiere.
Tumblr media
On the bright side, Cartoon Network will soon be airing two DC animated series for the first time since 2013, the other show being Teen Titans Go!
Tumblr media
The web series is currently streaming on YouTube. The reboot will premiere sometime later this year on Cartoon Network.
Tumblr media
Until next time, thank you for reading!

Broken Hearts- Chapter 15
The folder lands on my desk with a small thud. Krypto looks up at the noise from my feet. I had J'onn make up paperwork that he was a service dog in training so he went everywhere with either Lena or I. It's amazing how easy it is to train a dog when they read your thoughts. The thoughts were becoming more clear and less instinctual as he grew. I open the folder and look up at James' serious face.
"Those were on my desk today. I thought you should know. I won't print them because I don't like gossip. But you should know about them, and soon it will be in the news, including CatCo." James had taken over again as Ms. Grant took a vacation to some mystery place, this time with the promise of only being gone a couple of weeks.
I sifted through the pictures again. The top one was Lena and I at the little French cafe we had begun to frequent, the one she took me after shopping. Another was us sitting close at an Irish Pub. The next was me holding her hand as I helped her get into the back of the car. Lastly was a dark blurry image of us leaving the bar after our first date almost two months ago.
"Thank you, James. It's okay though. We know it's going to be a shit storm of publicity but it's okay. We don't want to keep it a secret and cause a scandal." He nods as I hand the envelope back.
"Let me know if you need anything published to keep that scandal from happening."
"Actually..." I say.
Lena and I had talked about small ways to begin conforming it without speculation. So for Lena's next press conference, I sat on the stage behind her. It was hard having every eye on me while being Kara but it was worth it. James captioned the image of Lena behind the podium by listing the people behind her also. 'Board Member so-and-so' were most of them but when it was my name in the line up it said 'Girlfriend, Kara Danvers.'
Of course there was always that one reporter who questioned our relationship instead of the actual topic on hand whenever Lena had a press conference but for the most part, it cut out all speculation, in the reliable media anyways.
We were still followed by paparazzi every time we went out together. Sometimes I could see them camping outside of CatCo waiting for me but they were so obvious I was able to avoid them. It was weird when I would pass by a newsstand and see pictures of myself in the tabloids there.
Krypto ran in a blur around the training room, jumping through the hoops and over bars and running up and down ramps. He completes the course and sits in front of me at my command. His tongue lolls out the side of his mouth as a wolfish grin exposes his sharp canine teeth. The DEO labs found that Krypto was a White Shepherd that had around twenty percent  Kryptonian DNA. Only four months old and he listens to everything I say. Krypto's ears perked towards me and his blue eyes looked into mine.
Fly? The thought brushes against mine.
"Okay, we can try again." Krypto falls in beside me as we walk to the large open training gym on the floor below us.
Krypto begins to sprint around the track that wraps the room. Soon he begins to leap, jumping higher and further than any animal should, trying to stay in the air. I  try to send thoughts to him on what it should feel like. Another leap and I see Krypto hang in the air for just a split second. His excitement was wordless in my mind and he immediately leaped again. Then he stopped in the air. I took off to meet him.
"You did it! That's my good boy!" I exclaim. Krypto wobbles in the air and I grab him to stabilize him. He licks my face and appreciation hums out of him. We float to the ground together and Krypto's happiness doubles my own. We make our report to J'onn and then head back to Lena's apartment to wait for her.
"Remember little one, no one must ever see your powers."
Yes mama, comes the response as I carry him in my arms.
I watch from Lena's couch as she paces her office. It took some coaxing but she finally turned it back into one a few weeks ago. She is on the phone talking to someone in Italian while Krypto follows closely at her heels. I tried to get him to just sit and watch but I only got three words in response.
Protect mother always.  I grin at that because that is what is always in the back of my mind and Krypto feels the same. Since he began to understand how important Lena was to both of us he chose to be by her side as much as possible. Lena even bought him a harness that said Security Dog on it. It started as a joke but Krypto loved it so much that he made me tell Lena that he wanted to wear it all the time.
Tears stream down my face as I raise a champagne flute to the tear-streaked face of my sister. We turn from each other and look out to the crowd who raise their own glasses and clink them against those of their table companions. Alex looks stunning in her white dress, Maggie looks just as beautiful in a black one. Giving a maid of honor speech was one of the most difficult things I had to do, and I have held buildings on my back.
The couple of the hour make their way to the dance floor to start their first dance. After that Eliza dances with Alex and then Maggie. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. Soon the dance floor is flooded with people. I know Alex and Maggie wanted something small but they severely underestimated how loved they were.
"Can I have this dance, Ms. Danvers?" Lena's voice comes from behind me. Her green dress matches her eyes and catches my breath.
"I thought you would never ask, Ms. Luthor." She holds a hand out that I take and let her lead me to the dance floor. Krypto's head peaks from under the tablecloth and his blue eyes watch us intently. We end up next to Maggie and Alex, still wrapped in their own little happy bubble. I feel Alex grab me and pull me partially away from Lena. She leans in to whisper in my ear.
"I think you'll be next." Alex nods to the woman still holding my hand and a blush rushes to my cheeks. I turn back to Lena and she has a questioning look. Alex and Maggie laugh and spin away from us.
"What was that about?" Lena asks. I contemplate not telling her.
"She said we would be next," I whisper. Lena's pale cheeks grow red very quickly and her mouth hangs open slightly. I smile and kiss her to stop her panic.
"All in due time, and only when we are both ready." She nods and pulls me close again to resume swaying with the music.
"This is one of my favorite views of the city," I say as we watch the buildings flicker to life and night settles in. Lena sets two glasses of wine on the balcony. She dimmed the lights inside her office and it made us seem so alone in the world, but my whole world was standing in front of me.
"Oh, and what are the others?" She asks as she takes a sip from her own glass. Her red, full lips leave a faint mark on the rim.
"The DEO balcony and the one outside of Cat Grant's office."
"Which is your favorite?" I smile and know I should just do it now. I turn to her and use the excuse of tucking hair behind her ear to touch her cheek.
"Wherever you are. Lena Luthor, you are my favorite place to be. You are my whole world. You are my home. But also you are my kryptonite. You are my biggest weakness." She looks almost sad and confused. I grab both her hands in mine.
"You are also what gives me strength, to keep fighting in my darkest and weakest moments. I know as long as you believe in me that I can do anything. And I never want to do anything without you beside me again. Lena Luthor, will you marry me?" Now Krypto. I bend to one knee and Krypto floats down from the roof.
He was wearing a dog tux that I found and gingerly carried an opened ring box in this teeth. Lena had her hands covering her mouth and tears glistening in her eyes. When Krypto lands in front of her next to me she lets out a laugh that she quickly contains. I take the small box from women's best friend and hold it out to Lena.
"Is that a yes or a no?" I ask as she continues to stare at me.
"Of course! Yes! Oh my god, yes!" she shakily holds out her hand and I slip the ring on. I stand and kiss my fiancee deeply.
Fly home. I command to Krypto, he isn't happy but doesn't hesitate. Lena pushes me against the balcony to deepen the kiss. I back her towards the door into the already darkened office. Hands wander up and down and clothing starts to be lost. I can't get her to the couch fast enough but also I need time to stand as still as possible. This was the start of the rest of our lives, our lives together. The turning of a page, the start of a new chapter, and I couldn't wait to start reading it. I was going to cherish every moment of it.
The End.

That one big Dice Earrings post that I have been Threatening
It’s here
FRIENDLY REMINDER I will make these for people! For friends I generally say the first pair is free, after that my current price for a pair is £6 plus postage, and I have a stupid amount of dice so whatever colour/character/creature you want, there’s a good chance I have them. In the last two weeks I’ve had three different people notice these I swear you’ll look awesome!
So how many earrings have I made myself now? Uhhh I should really count at some point. But do you wanna see ‘em? Yes, the answer is yes, sit down and look at my nerd shit:
Tumblr media
I feel like they make a deceptively small pile though? Like that doesn’t look like many. But
Tumblr media
This is a whole lap tray and they don’t even fit though? I need a second row for my purples and reds. Which is sad because my purples and reds probably represent my BEST earrings to be honest
Tumblr media
Okay here we go, from the top. I’ll list the ones in each picture like ‘Name (copyright owner, set)’ just for completeness sake.

Labs™ (DC, Green Arrow and The Flash)
Tumblr media
Loki (Marvel, Age of Ultron), Beast Boy (DC, War of Light), Hulk (Marvel, Age of Ultron), Jervis Tetch™ (DC, Batman), M.O.D.O.K. (Marvel, Deadpool), Doctor Strange (Marvel, Avengers vs Xmen), Captain America (Marvel, Age of Ultron)
Tumblr media
Agent Carter (Marvel, Deadpool), Psylocke (Marvel, Uncanny Xmen), Purple Worm (DnD, Battle for Faerun), She-Hulk (Marvel, Civil War), Hawkeye (Marvel, Age of Ultron), Hobgoblin (Marvel, Amazing Spider-man), Iron Man (Marvel, Age of Ultron)
Tumblr media
Roy Harper™ (DC, Green Arrow and The Flash),  Wonder Woman (DC, Justice League), Deadpool (Avengers vs Xmen), Black Widow (Age of Ultron), Dogpool (Marvel, Deadpool)
I have so many left that I wanna do for myself - next is Squirrel Girl, the dogs (Cosmo, Krypto and Ace the Bathound), and a whole bunch of weird and cool DnD monsters, including a ghost, multiple dinosaurs, and a bright pink Beholder die which I may love more than oxygen. I’d love to hear everyone’s faves, here or on discord, and hey, you know, if you want cool dice earrings, you know who to call.

Halloween Couple Costumes!!
Armin: Candy's guilty pleasure is the show Power Rangers. She is actually quite embarrassed with having such a huge love for the show because she's seen multiple seasons not just the original. When Armin first found about her guilty pleasure he was very ecstatic and happy that his girlfriend has the ability to nerd out as much as he did. But since he could see how embarrassed she is about he wanted to show her that it was alright to love whatever she loves and  show it to the world. So he surprised her with costumes of the Green and Pink Rangers of her favorite season SPD.
Castiel: Castiel was never really a fan of dressing up for Halloween. He would usually just chill at his house and watch a movie marathon. But now that he is with Candy the Halloween tradition is kind of changed. It's not that he feels forced to dress up with his girlfriend it's just a new situation for him and that has to get used to. But since Candy knew that this is new for him, she tried to find the most comfortable costume for the both of them. Castiel was very happy and comfortable that Candy chose them to be Sandy and Danny from Grease. It's also a plus for him that he gets to see his girl in that nice costume too.
Kentin: This was something Kentin has been very excited for when he started dating Candy. He got even more excited when Candy suggested that they should include Cookie in their costumes. The two found it very hard to narrow down what exactly they wanted to dress up as. It was even harder for them to think of a costume for Cookie as well. It wasn't until Kentin was at his house doing homework when Cookie accidently knocked the T.V Remote off the couch and turned to Boomerang and Krypto the Superdog was play. He immediately texts Candy and all she sent were some hearts and smiley faces.  So by Halloween night Kentin, Candy and Cookie were all dressed up as Superman, Supergirl and Krypto.
Lysander: Rosa is the kind of person who puts 110% in her Halloween costume because she always believed it was a great opportunity to show off her sowing skills. Both her an d Leigh always have these elaborate costumes and Lysander must admit that he would love to do the same with his girlfriend if he ever had one. Now he finally has the chance to do so and since Candy and Rosa are the best of friends they decided to go out as a group. The final decision for the group is Wicked. Candy being Alpheba, Lysander as the Scarecrow, Rosa as Glinda and Leigh as the Tinman. When Lysander finally saw his girlfriend he realized exactly how much he loves the color green on her. Thanks to Rosa and Leigh they were really the best dressed in the whole city.
Nathaniel: His father's company has an annual Halloween party. Even though he and his father aren't 100% with each other Nathaniel did promise to attend event where they have to arrive as a family unit. Luckily for him, he was able to bring Candy along with him. Another thing he was happy about was the fact that he didn't have coordinate with his family for once so he took advantage to have his girlfriend with her. There was really only one thing that they wanted to dress as together and boy was he happy. Officer Nathaniel walked in to the party with a big grin on his face as he was accompanied with his very good looking partner in crime Officer Candy.

I’m obsessed with Titans S2 please help me I haven’t eaten or slept in days
I don’t know WHY I’m so fascinated by Titans S2 but I think it’s because it’s like a car crash?? like it’s horrible but you can’t look away??
But like horrible in a way that’s super predictable and entertaining??
Like there were so many good scenes but then the bad ones are just mingled in and it’s like a grab bag, you never know what you’re gonna get and boy is that FUN. The pacing was so absolutely and utterly GOD AWFUL and they established plot threads that were interesting but didn’t go anywhere and you’d spend the whole season waiting for that one plot thread to come back up but then you realize that it’s not going to until maybe the next season but by then it will probably be too late and it will only mess up the pacing more?????????
They mega over explain so many things but then when you actually find one thing you might want elaborated on they just??? breeze right over it???
Donna Troy’s death was actually so ridiculous and stupid and out of left field I legit starting fucking LAUGHING MY ASS OFF because OBVIOUSLY she’s not gonna stay dead but WHY would you kill her off like that and for what reason???? I’m so confused??? and it’s so funny I’m laughing just remembering it like??? WHY. GENUINELY THIS IS FUNNIER TO ME THAN ANY JOKE I’VE HEARD IN THE PAST MONTH I STARTED WHEEZING FROM LAUGHTER AT THIS POIGNANT MOMENT WTF. WHY NOT JUST HAVE LET CONNER KILL HER AND ADD WEIGHT TO IT. WHY DID YOU KILL HER ABRUPTLY WITH A BEAM RIGHT AFTER THE CONFLICT FOR NO REASON THE PACING IS SO BAD IT LEGIT WATCHED LIKE A GAG ASDFGHJKL X’D X’D
THAT WHOLE SET UP WITH GAR GOING THROUGH FUCKING HELL AND IT BEING SUPER DISTURBING WTF WHILE THE SHOW COMPLETELY IGNORED CONNER BUT THEN THE FINAL SCENE MAKES GAR COMPLETELY USELESS WHILE IT’S ALL FOCUSED ON CONNER??? LIKE I KNOW IT WAS ALWAYS ABOUT CONNER BUT THEN WHY DID THEY TOTALLY IGNORE HIM?????????????? THE PAYOFF WASN’T EVEN THAT STARTLING BC YOU KNEW IT WAS COMING ANYWAY???
but please don’t get me wrong Conner was one of the best parts of the whole series so far I love him with my WHOLE HEART and would die for him 11/10 what a sweetheart I hope he stays safe and happy
Like you can so. SO clearly see that they either bit off WAYYYY more than they could chew this season OR that the studio forced them to bite off way more than they could chew because oh my god. This show is so messy. Why did they introduce so many new characters and sub plots. Like the plots include every character and that is Way Too Many and this is coming from somebody with too many OCs which is why it’s so hard to write a good story with them all like:
Hank and Dawn (y’all KNOW I love these two but WHY ARE THEY SO IMPORTANT HERE??? THERE ARE OTHER WAY MORE IMPORTANT THREADS WHY DO THEY HAVE SO MUCH SCREENTIME?? RACHEL’S POWERS ARE GOING APESHIT AND GAR’S HAVING FCKIN BRAIN SURGERY DONE ON HIM I DON’T WANNA BE WATCHING YOU TWO HAVE PETTY RELATIONSHIP DRAMA W H Y)
Donna (with the gross inclusion of Aqualad ugh fuck that Danny Rand looking goldfish ass) DR LIGHT????? WHAT THE FUCK???? WHY WAS HE THERE AT ALL???? I KNOW TO DESTABILIZE THE TEAM OR WHATEVER BUT??? WHAT??? WHY BOTHER???
Dick
Rachel
Gar (baby.......... I’m so sorry......)
Conner
Jericho (the pacing would have been much better if the whole show was about him, no other characters. just him. making all the friends he wants and deserves. listening to music. embarrassing jerks. being his funky self. I love this man so much y’all. I love him. help.)
Rose
Kory
Jason (rip I am so sorry they did you so dirty my dude wtf)
more nonsense that doesn’t matter?????? why is it here??
no, stop, that’s too many plots, you need to put some back, no stop picking up plots, all with the exact amount of screen time and importance on the SECOND. SEASON.
WHY WHERE JASON AND ROSE SO IMPORTANT AND THEN JUST NICKED OFF AND WEREN’T SEEN FOR FOR AGES??? AND THEN WHY DID THEY JUST FILL IN THE BLANKS LIKE NONE OF IT MATTERED?? WHY???? LIKE I GET THE REASON BUT DUDE THERE WERE A MILLION BETTER WAYS TO DO THAT WITHOUT JUST TELLING US THEY OFFICIALLY GOT TOGETHER OFF SCREEN HAHA YEAH THAT HAPPENED TOTALLY OH AND NOW THEY’VE BROKEN UP BC WE NEEDED THEM TOO. LIKE. AA???
THE BAD GUY THEY BUILT UP TO THROUGHOUT ALL OF SEASON ONE GOT TAKEN CARE OF WITHIN THE FIRST HALF OF THE FIRST EPISODE OF SEASON 2 I’AAKJBSKLHVSVSHS J????/>?< DID THEY RUN OUT OF EPISODE BRACKETS FOR THE LAST SEASON??? WHY DID THEY START WITH IT THIS SEASON?? WHY DIDN’T THEY END IT LAST SEASON WHERE IT WOULD HAVE ACTUALLY HAD WEIGHT AND NOT BE DISAPPOINTING??? IT ONLY WOULD HAVE TAKEN ONE MORE EPISODE AND IT STILL WOULDVE BEEN LONGER THAN THE FINALE WE GOT?? THEY COULD HAVE LET THE ULTIMATE GOOD BOI TEAM STINGER CARRYING IT SURELY??? OR DID THEY THINK THEY NEEDED MORE HOOK??? I’M PRETTY SURE ANYONE EVEN INTERESTED IN THE NICHE SHOW IN THE FIRST PLACE WOULD HAVE BEEN EXCITED AND KEPT WATCHING FOR KRYPTO AND HIS SIDEKICK SUPERBOY???
WHAT’S WITH THE OOC MOMENTS AND TONAL WHIPLASH BETWEEN QUIPS IN PLACES THEY SHOULDN’T BE AND FLASHING TO SUPER DARK MOMENTS???
THERE’S MORE BUT I LEGIT CAN’T THINK OF IT BC LITERALLY EVERY ASPECT AND SCENE OF THIS SHOW WAS WACK IN SOME WAY OR ANOTHER EVEN THE GOOD BITS WHICH I LOVE
Also please don’t take this the wrong way, all of this rage and exasperation is coming from a place of love, I love this absolute hilarious wack mess of a show with my whole heart, idk what they’re thinking but I am On Board. I hope there’s fifty more seasons and I hope each is more ridiculous than the last I’M STOKED FUCK YEAH BRO LET’S GO
and this is just me being Mega Salty that the whole show wasn’t just all Jericho I love him amen and hallelujah

season five continues please don’t let anything like the last episode happen again:
-huh things went downhill for lana really fast. one episode clark breaks up with her the next she’s on suspiciously bright green unnamed drugs. okay
-clark just. ran to honduras. i lov him
-oh. lionel is here
-official smallville pig count: 2. it’s WILD that it’s taken this long and now we’re on a pig every episode rate
-whoa i think a guy falling on a circular saw and taking like 30 seconds to die is the grisliest death smallville has ever had
-now watch as despite lana stealing his car and also breaking into his house lex is completely fine with her cause that’s normal and healthy
-side note: i think my problem with the whole “i am entitled to your secret i cannot stand all these lies” thing comes from being a gay. like, no one is obligated to come out of the closet and Clark’s Secret feels a lot like that to me
-side note part two: how has literally no one on this show wondering about Clark’s Secret thought “oh, maybe he’s queer”? fucking wild, although maybe i should be thankful cause i don’t see that being done respectfully
-little girl just fucking murdered some fish by smashing all the glass in the house including their tank with her miiiiind poooooowers
-oh sweet lord i forgot how lovely clark is with kids
-lana: you must really trust me. lex: 100% me: she stole your car LAST EPISODE
-KRYPTO IS BACK but for some reason is called shelby now i guess??? okay???
-lois is as bad with kids as clark is good. excellent, great, wonderful. such rich pairing material
-lex getting aol video messages this is a noughties period drama
-evil guy with glass powers killed the fish not the little girl so we’re allowed to like her i guess
- do uh, diamonds count as glass now?
-clark adopting super powered kids is everything i want from this show
-this lex and lana storyline is making me actively look forward to when she is written out he’s been perving on her since she was FIFTEEN
-lana: what are we doing? lex: i thought we were enjoying an evening of chess. that exchange doesn’t really really need any input from me it’s already perfect
-the villain of this episode basically just hates capitalism which is fair. but also they murder people. not fair
-also they have a tinfoil face for some reason
-whoa. does... does lionel shave his armpits?
-lex is STILL trying to find “common ground” with clark cause he still loves him
-my boy broke through a wall then caught a lift this is what i’m here for
-bad guy took of his mask and lionel gasps but i’m there like “i have literally no idea who that is”
-lex luthor is what tony stark could have been we should be very glad he’s iron man instead. i just really love tony stark okay
-i pretty much unironically love the theme song now
-oh clark has a new ~mystery~ sugar daddy now
-lois is doing crunches whilst doing politics and i’m not sure who to thank or what i did to deserve this but OH BOY OH MAN OH WOW
-”clark kent is afraid of heights” is the best running joke this show has set up
-lois continues to have absolutely horrible taste in men and that is not just because she hasn’t shown interest in clark (or alternatively me) yet
-jfc lois just poured nearly an entire thing of sugar into her coffee. you don’t need to drink the bean juice if you need that much sugar babe, come join me in the leaf water corner
-alright by the 15th pun surely someone would have worked out that this guy is a hitman? i mean “it can get a little cutthroat”???
-he just invited lois to a coldplay concert. PERIOD DRAMA
-mmmmmm a classic hard thing shattering against clark shot whilst somehow leaving his clothes undamaged literally my favourite
-lois in the shower! CLARK SEEING LOIS NAKED! yeeeeeeeeees the episode is SO GOOD
-lois takes hour and a half long showers. i love her so much
-lois: why can’t i meet a decent guy from a decent family? me, openly weeping: YOU ALREADY HAVE
-mum kent finishing up the episode being completely right about absolutely everything yet again
-daddy kent shows up at his own grave (extremely extra) to tell clark to kill daddy luthor and he says it because lionel is gonna do something terrible but we all know its because dad kent is missing dad luthor and wants to have homoerotic arguments with him in the afterlife
-mum kent: jonathan, you know you’re the only man i’ve ever loved. me: well that’s not a very straight thing to say
-i haven’t had much to say about this episode cause i’ve been eating my tea whilst watching but i’m not convinced for a second that clark is actually gonna kill someone
-tractor throwing! yaaaay! now we know for sure it isn’t the real dad kent. he spent so long fixing the damn thing he would never just throw it at clark and break it again
-doctor: well lex you’ve never been healthier. me: seriously what happened to the blood purification thing. i genuinely don’t remember that ever being resolved
-lex: clark’s specialty is barging in where he isn’t invited. me: EXCUSE ME? E X C U S E  M E??? that is the most hypocritical thing i’ve ever heard anyone on this show say holy shit
-lois just referenced the night stalker. i see you babe. my girl is into true crime
-i’m actually so excited for Andrew Jacoby, Duke of Kenilworth to show up as general zod but that might actually be ages yet idk
-DO NOT RING PEOPLE WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING
-”i’ll be there tonight” why do fictional people always say this? “tonight” is such a wide bracket of time
-i’m not even gonna talk about lana’s arc this season
-clark just got sent to the phantom zone so that’s fun. no, not fun. what’s the opposite of fun?
-ooooooo, nice use of stock footage of riots
-i have no idea why people are actually rioting but it’s certainly injecting some drama into the last minutes of the season
-lana’s doing her big romantic speech to lex but the whole city is rioting and it doesn’t really seem like the time
-clark is gonna have to save an awful lot of people really fast at the start of the next season when this cliffhanger is resolved

Hi! Im custom binding a silver age best of collection of Superman. Im putting in parts of the Superman in the fifties, sixties, seventies, the 1987 Greatest Superman stories, Superman vs Luthor, vs Brainiac tpbs as well as Superman annual 3 reprinting the Lion Superman story, Superman 227 with the Ant Superman, and Action Comics 275 with Brainiac, & Superman 207. Maybe the SuperMenace story. What in your wisdom, do you think I should also add to this? Thanks!
Ohhh, my friend, have you ever picked a tricky one! Being an era of such prodigious imagination and franchise-empowering financial success, the Silver Age has produced more than its fair share of landmark stories well worth including in any relevant volume.Off the top of my head, I can’t recall what exactly is in the “Superman in the...” and “Greatest Stories Ever Told” volumes, but I have to assume that it’s a bunch of the usual suspects: Superman Under the Red Sun, Lex Luthor -- Hero, the debut and introduction of Supergirl, the debut of the Legion of Super-Heroes, and of Krypto, or something along those lines, Hopefully a lot of Bizarro and what-have-you as well.
But for what to include in that -- well, first off, a lot of sites have done some of the hard labor and assembled their own best of lists for assorted Superman eras. Now-defunct ComicsAlliance has a list of best stories by decade (in fact, I think I might have suggested a few titles to the piece’s author, Benito Cereno), which includes some must-haves:
“The Mightiest Team in the World” (Superman vol 1 #76), “The Girl in Superman’s Past” (Supermanvol 1 #129), “The Battle with Bizarro!” (Action Comics vol 1 #254), “The Supergirl from Krypton!” (Action Comics vol 1 #252), “It” (Action Comics vol 1 #162), “The Super-Duel in Space” (Action Comics vol 1 #242), “Superman's New Power” (Superman vol 1 #125)
“The Showdown Between Luthor and Superman!” (Superman vol 1 #164), “The Amazing Story of Superman-Red and Superman-Blue!” (Superman vol 1 #162), “Return to Krypton” (Superman vol 1 #141), “Superman’s Race With the Flash!” (Superman vol 1 #199), “The Death of Superman” (Superman vol 1 #149), “Superman Under the Red Sun!” (Action Comics vol 1 #300)
(In addition to the first Superman/Flash race, I’d be inclined to include the subsequent two rematches, except that they happen pretty solidly in the bronze age...)
CBR.com also has a selection of what it considers the 75 greatest Superman stories. It’s not specifically Silver Age, but it includes some Silver Age picks, like:
“The Team of Luthor and Brainiac!” Superman Volume 1 #167 (1963), “The Legion of Super-Villains!” Superman #147 (1961)
So those are some good standards, and you should consider the lot of ‘em. For my part, I have been intending to go back and do a proper complete survey of all the issues covered in this blog so far, so as to pick out “best of” tales for each year, and collect a bunch of thematic collections. Until I get around to that, though, I picked a few issues which I’d mentioned on the blog before:
The first Silver Age appearance of the Toyman
Debut of The Parasite
Superman’s Mission for President Kennedy
The Superman of 2965
The Sweetheart Superman Forgot
The First Appearance of Nightwing and Flamebird
Introducing Mon-El (assuming you’re okay with Superboy stories)
Krypto Battles Titano (just a weird favorite of mine)
The Son of Bizarro
The inaugural Mr. and Mrs. Clark (Superman) Kent
Superman’s Old Age
Superman in the White House
The Super-Key to Fort Superman
Superman’s Banana Yellow Costume
Luthor’s first dalliance with powered armor
The tragic tale of Superman Jr
And, yes ... you should definitely include Super-Menace
I have one additional recommendation, although it’s actually better suited to a separate volume of its own: “The Showdown Between Luthor and Superman” listed above is arguably preceded by the stories which established Luthor as a space pirate. This is a compelling multi-issue arc which does a fantastic job setting the stage for the elevation of the feud and the introduction of planet Lexor. You’ll find the chapters in Action Comics vol.1 292 and 294...
Hope this helps!

Echoes Not Heard: Alex Ross' "Echoes of Shazam!" and the Absence of a Certain Big Blue Boy Scout
I recently had the pleasure to have this piece published as a part of the “POP: Culture & Comics” website #SneakPeekWeek! The site has come down (temporarily) until it’s grand launch on Monday April 22, 2019, so I wanted to make it available here on my CV/blog in the meantime. Thanks for checking it out:
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --
This past Friday, exactly one week before the North American theatrical release
of the SHAZAM movie, Alex Ross has provided what Nerdist.com calls "his
definitive take on the cultural impact of the character." [1] "In this illustration..."
Diaz writes, "[Ross] goes beyond the comic book universe to trace the influence
of Shazam! on a broader pop culture scale, depicting over 100 characters from
comics, movies, and television." [2] Not only does it feature characters,
regardless of publisher, that have been called "Captain Marvel", but it also
depicts characters who have been heavily influenced by him and his stories. If
you haven't yet seen Ross' work, take a look below:
Tumblr media
                                         Echoes of Shazam! (2019)
As you might expect from an artists of Ross' caliber, the painting is spectacular.
Foregrounded in the image is the original Captain Marvel & Billy Batson,
represented in the classic-style of co-creator and Chief Artist of Fawcett's
represented in the classic-style of co-creator and Chief Artist of Fawcett's
flagship Captain Marvel Adventures, C.C. Beck, surrounded by all of the
CaptainMarvels and other characters who have taken inspiration from him and
his journey's over the years. [3] Immediately recognizable characters like Marvel
Comics' Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Alan Moore's Marvelman, the original
Thor (who many might forget was originally Dr. Don Blake, a man who became
the God of Thunder when he slammed his cane on the ground), He-Man,
Ultraman, Captain Super (the Crime Syndicate version of Captain Marvel), and
so many more are there to celebrate the power of Shazam.
While it is certainly true that all of these characters, in one way or another, have
taken inspiration from the "Big Red Cheese" and that the painting is an
ambitious one that clearly demonstrates Ross' adoration for the character, there
is a notable absence among the characters that populate this work of art. And if
this is to be a definitive take on Captain Marvel/Shazam's pop culture influence,
as Ross, Diaz and Nerdist.com have suggested, then this missing character is
an egregious one. So, I have to ask...
Where, oh where, is Superman?
Tumblr media
                                           Superman by Curt Swan
Now, I'm sure many of you have already done the math... Superman debuted in
Action Comics #1 which was published in 1938. The original Captain Marvel
debuted in Whiz Comics #2, first published a full two-years later in 1940. You
may even be aware of the lawsuit filed by DC Comics (then National Periodical
Publications) against Fawcett that claimed copyright infringement against
Captain Marvel. On the surface, none of this gives the impression that
Superman was inspired in any way by Captain Marvel. Yet, despite how it looks,
here I am suggesting that one of the greatest comics artist's of out time missed
an opportunity to reflexively recognize how the "Big Red Cheese" significantly
improved Siegel & Shuster's "Big Blue Boy Scout". In fact, I would go as far as
to improved Siegel & Shuster's "Big Blue Boy Scout". In fact, I would go as far
as to suggest that that the Superman as we know him today only exists
because of Fawcett's Captain Marvel.
To understand why Superman belongs in Ross' "Echoes of Shazam!", we first
need to talk about one of the greatest Golden Age comics writers of all-time:
Otto Binder.
Tumblr media
                                                     Otto Binder
Otto Binder began writing for Fawcett comics in 1941, taking over the Captain
Marvel stories after original co-creator, Bill Parker, joined the military in 1940.
Under Binder's pen, Captain Marvel quickly became the most popular comic
book superhero published at that time. According to scholars Bradford Wright
and Christopher Murray, Billy and Captain Marvel's popularity stemmed from
their ability to provide young readers with a way to "imagine what it might be
like to possess magical powers". [4] Billy, a boy as young as many of his
readers, could become a hero with a single word; kids no longer had to project
themselves into the bodies of adults for adventure, they could simply call for
magic from the skies and become the hero they had always dreamt about.
It was this level of popularity and success that eventually led National to file
their lawsuit against Fawcett. The lawsuit, which would drag on for years and is
better discussed in a different article, would ultimately be settled in 1952 when
Fawcett (who no longer wanted to continue their fight against National) agreed
to stop publishing Captain Marvel comics.
While this might have signalled the end of the best-selling comics hero of the
1940s, it also opened the door for Otto Binder to begin another comics project.
In 1954, Binder took on writing duties for the Superman group of titles at
National, and would change the face of the character forever.
During his time working on the Superman titles, Binder contributed to the
introduction of the Legion of Super-Heroes, and debuted one of Superman's
deadliest villains (who will soon be appearing on Krypton: Season 2), Brainiac,
as well as the Bottle City of Kandor in Action Comics #242 (1958). Around the
same time, he also introduced fan-favourite villain/anti-hero, Bizarro, in
Superboy #68 (1958) as well as Bizarro World in Action Comics #263 (1960). He
would further introduce other important elements to the Superman mythos
including The Phantom Zone, Lucy Lane, Beppo the Super Monkey, and even
Jimmy Olsen's famous signal-watch.
While all of these new characters are important and signal Binder's contribution
to the Superman mythology, they don't really explain why Captain Marvel
impacted Superman or why Superman should be in Ross' "Echoes of
Shazam!". For that, we have to look to Binder's two greatest additions to the
Superman universe: Krypto the Super Dog and Supergirl.
One of the most enduring and popular elements of Binder (and Beck's) time on
Captain Marvel was the introduction of the Marvel Family.
Tumblr media
Cover to The Marvel Family #1 (1945)
Originally introduced by Binder and Beck in Captain Marvel Adventures #18
(1942), the Marvel family was one of the most popular elements of Captain
Marvel's mythos. In stark contrast to many other heroes being published at that
time, Captain Marvel had a whole family to help him on his adventures and
demonstrated to young children the importance of having support from those
who love and care about you. Billy knew he couldn't always do it alone; a
meaningful lessons for young children.
Joining Billy/Captain Marvel in those original team-up adventures with the
Marvel Family was Freddy Freeman/Captain Marvel Jr., who had been originally
introduced in Whiz Comics #25 (1941), and Mary Marvel (as well as some other
less notable family members, like Uncle Marvel). Within a very short time of the
family's introduction, they become on of the most popular and best selling
comics of the Golden Age. [5]
In an article for Polygon.com about Disney/Pixar's The Incredibles, Meg
Downey states, "The Marvel Family’s success went on to inspire copycats of
their own — DC (then known as National Comics) replicated the process for
their entire trinity, complete with costume-wearing animal companions, super
babies, wonder tots, and long lost elderly relatives." [6] What Downey fails to
mention is that, for Superman at least, the one who developed this "Superman
Family" was the writer of Captain Marvel himself, Otto Binder.
Only one year after he began working with Superman, Binder introduced Krypto
the Super Dog in Adventure Comics #210 (1955). Besides Siegel and Shuster's
own Superboy, Krypto served as the first step towards the building of the
Superman Family as we know it today. The next one, would come in the form of
Superman's cousin, Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl in Action Comics
#252 (1959).
Together with Superman, an increased focus on Lois Lane (his Lois Lane comic
for Showcase #9 in 1957 set the stage for her own on-going publication shortly
thereafter) and Jimmy Olsen (Binder launched Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen in
1954), the Superman family would continue to grow and demonstrate that the
Family Formula pioneered with Captain Marvel all those years before, was still a
winner. So to is this demonstrated by the characters lasting importance to
Superman even today.
Recent comics (Tomasi, Gleason, Jurgens, and even Bendis' runs) have
emphasized the importance of family to Superman. Jon Kent (the son of
Superman and Lois Lane) has become  one of the break-out stars of the current
DC Universe, the return of Connor Kent within the pages of Young Justice
(2018) has been met with resounding excitement, Supergirl is riding high after
Melissa Benoit's successful CW television series has far surpassed
expectations and Krypto has even been gallivanting alongside her in her solo
comics series.
Simply put, the Superman that we know today would not be who he is without
his family. There is no denying that Superman's "family", like the extended "Bat-
Family" are completely indebted to the success of Otto Binder's work with
Captain Marvel. When Fawcett abandoned the fight against National, Binder
brought the formula that had made Captain Marvel and his family so successful
and applied it to the original comic book superhero. Without the contributions
of Binder, the family characters that have come after his tenure at DC simply
wouldn't exist. He not only set the stage for them within Superman comics, he
did so even earlier within the Captain Marvel stories. This is the contribution
that Captain Marvel and Shazam gave to Superman, and why he belongs in
Ross' "Echoes of Shazam!" painting.
The "Big Blue Boy Scout" owes a pretty massive debt to the "Big Red Cheese"
because, in no uncertain terms, he gave him his family.
Tumblr media
Ross' "Echoes of Shazam!" is nothing short of amazing. It is an artist's passion
project for a character that he clearly loves and cares about. By demonstrating
the missing piece of the painting, I do not intend to diminish it's power or
suggest that it fails in it's mission; it certainly doesn't. What it does do though is
miss the opportunity to recognize the contributions of a character that Ross
clearly loves so much on one of DC Comics' most visible and popular heroes. It
would have been a small, but meaningful vindication for Captain MArvel's
wrongful demise at the hands of National/Superman.
We may not see that in Ross' work here, but SHAZAM! does hit theatres this
Friday. Maybe we'll finally see the "Big Red Cheese" overshadow the "Big Blue
Boy Scout".

WARNING: Bank Run Soon!! Get Your Cash Out NOW!
VIDEO TRANSCRIPT
Egg yolk. What is going on? Viewers of the tube. My name is Tyler and I’d like to introduce you to the channel that keeps it as funky and isolation and quarantine as this grandma. You know how we sked dance. It’s time for Chico. Krypto. Well, it’s been a few days since I’ve seen all your faces and since I shot today’s video, Monday’s video all the way back last week on Friday. It’s hard to assume what has happened with the markets traditional and crypto, but we can look to see what happened as of Friday last week. Well, the Dow Jones stock market started to look like the crypto market’s volatility. Massive single green candle pumps and in three days brought it up nearly 4000 basis points. The strongest rally since the Great Depression in 1933. But as of Friday, the rally had to be put on pause, which I’m sure got investors, hedge fund managers and financial analysts shaking in their boots because the stops have all been pulled out. My friends, the Fed and the US government, including the Treasury, doesn’t have any ammo left. They created three new SPV special purpose vehicles, which we talked about last Friday. 4.5 trillion dollars is available for the banks and the corporations and the Fed funds rate will have to be dropped into negative territory if slashed any further. So what is going on with finance? One point zero. Did today pump or dump? Well, we need to look back to something. The financial crisis in 2008, because similar things happened back then like the collapse and bailouts and the creation of F.P.. These happened in March of 2000, a March 11th, 2008. Federal Reserve and other central banks announce specific measures designed to address liquidity pressures in funding markets. And from the announcement, the Federal Reserve announced today an expansion of its securities lending program. Under this new term securities lending facility P S L F and S P V well, what happened after the announcement of this SPV to the Dow Jones on the day March eleven pump in that pump lasted for about a month, but eventually back down like Charlie Brown. That downward pressure kept up for over a year. Yes, a year, you guys, where the Dow went from around 11000 basis points to six thousand six hundred and twenty-six points at the low, a loss of basically 50 percent back then. During that time, it felt like the sky was falling out from under investors. Have we felt like that so far during present times? No, not yet. And that is why I believe finance one point zero in the stock market hasn’t felt the full brunt of this bear market. It’s still to come and it possibly could have started today. But this isn’t all about the stock market. I mean, stocks. They are for the big boys. Your average Joe or Jill is an invested. I mean, look at stock ownership since 2008 to today has fallen from 62 percent of Americans to 55 percent. You have the stock market has pumped significant gains to be had and getting stocks is easier. Robinhood app, cash app and more. That doesn’t make sense, does it? So who are the 50 percent that doesn’t own stock? Well, those are the people who don’t have that killer White-Collar job with a four or one K. Just check out the percentage of Americans who have for one case. It’s about 50 percent. So corporate America is economically forcing their worker’s slaves to invest in stocks. So if you didn’t know half of America is a corporate Shachar workforce and the other half of America is small to medium-sized businesses who do not have four or one cases for their employers. So we have a major disconnect going on where the corporate workers, half of America saw the great gains in the stock market, while the blue-collar, hard-working America and for the most part didn’t. But for that half of America, what are they limited to economically if they aren’t in the stock market? Well, they could get Krypto, but a majority are just using bangs. And that is what we need to talk about right now as the stimulus bill gives them a dark and dirty toolbox. So smaller banks have under 10 billion in assets. They have been given something just a sweet. Their leverage ratio has been reduced from 9 percent to 8 percent until the end of the national emergency. That previous regulation of keeping it at nine percent regarding banks leverage ratios were put in place following that 2008 financial crisis as a way to better ensure that they would be prepared to cover. Loan losses should the need arise, and this ratio specifically measures the core capital of a bank relative to its assets. So for an easy example, if a bank lends out one hundred dollars and has ten dollars of capital held in reserve to cover possible losses in that loan pool, its leverage ratio would be 10 percent and divided by 100 hundred. Now, the higher the leverage ratio, the safer the bank, the lower the riskier. So dropping it to eight percent means we have a shit ton of risky small and community banks across America. So what about the big banks, the big bankers? While these financial institutions like JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and more, they get a sweet pass to even sweeter. They’re allowing all financial institutions to suspend troubled debt restructuring as there is going to be a ton of troubled debt coming out of this. And it allows financial institutions to delay implementation of the Financial Accounting Standards Board’s new current expected credit losses rule, meaning they don’t have to account for much during this whole crisis but get to run willy nilly, which is amplified by the more fine print. Banks, specifically the national ones, have their lending limit waived for the duration of this crisis. They will get to lend as much as they please. But remember, I said things get nasty with the banks if they get disgusting. They are modifying the brick in Dodd-Frank Act, the act drafted in 2010, the longest piece of financial regulatory text in history to stop these sons of bitches from ever doing 2008 again. So what are they modifying while they’re giving the FDIC the power to establish a temporary program to guarantee the banks that temporary, which if you understand the government and when they say temporary, they usually mean forever. Remember Nixon taking us off the gold standard? Accordingly, I have directed the secretary of the Treasury to take the action necessary to defend the dollar against the speculators. I have directed Secretary Connally to suspend temporarily the convertibility of the dollar into gold or other reserve assets, except in amounts and conditions determined to be in the interest of monetary stability and in the best interest of the United States. So what is this forever program? In my opinion, to guarantee bank debt? Well, it was first brought forward in 2008. Hey, we’re bringing it back. And it’s called the Temporary Liquidity Guarantee Program. And to get this program going, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, FDIC and the Federal Reserve invoked it. And the secretary of the Treasury approved the use of the systematic risk exception under the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation Improvement Act of nineteen ninety-one. And under the guidance of the systematic risk exception, FDIC implemented two programs. A Debt Guarantee Program DCB, which extended the FDIC, is guaranteed to newly issued debt instruments of FDIC insured institutions that are holding companies and their eligible affiliates. And the transaction account guarantee program he a g p which provided unlimited deposit insurance coverage of non-interest bearing transaction accounts. So these two programs are revived today and the FDIC insurance covers all the new loans and debt the banks get to run willy nilly with. Who covers this? If the bank’s job, the taxpayers are. Yes. The FDIC always boast that they will cover bank runs without taxpayer money from their Web site. The FDIC received no congressional appropriations. It is funded by premiums that banks and thrift institutions pay for deposit insurance coverage and from earnings on investments in U.S. Treasury securities that FDIC ensures trillions of dollars of deposits in U.S. banks and thrifts, deposits and virtually every bank and thrift in the country. But if you look into the fine print of these programs, like in 2012, when the Transactions Account Guarantee program was investigated, you see the truth on page 10. They talk about the potential impacts of this program. If it was extended, it read, some have raised concerns about what effect an extension of tag would have on the FDIC Deposit Insurance Fund EAF. Under the program, as established by the Dodd-Frank Act, TAG insurance functions as part of the FDIC traditional insurance for risk-based insurance system to function effectively. The entity setting the insurance premium must accurately forecast future risk or be able to recoup losses ex-post. If the FDIC can successfully estimate the future costs that tag funds would impose on the D-I app, then the premiums could be set to cover. They expected losses. However, problems may arise if the insurance is underpriced due to an underestimation of those future losses. If future losses caused the DHS to become depleted, the DHS may have to borrow from the Treasury to protect depositors, putting taxpayers at risk. So my friends, we the citizens are the last leg regarding saving the banks. Now, if the banks make bad loans, that banks overstep. If the banks lose at all, that taxpayer is now on the hook. It’s a bank bail and not bailout. But this craziness is the case for bitcoin and crypto bitcoin. And defy turns you into your own bank where you control the flow of funds, where the funds are allocated into interest-bearing accounts and using your funds as collateral. Reaping the rewards of which in the past the banks did. So, my friends, we are all on the hook as American taxpaying citizens for this. But we don’t have to contribute to their addictions for cash as if we put our money in their bank. They’re going to use it as collateral and make money. They’re already getting four trillion dollars from the federal government. So when the FDIC decided to say this, we’re living in unprecedented times at a time when a pandemic like this, it is way too easy to get confused and to have fear about what you should be doing with your money in your account, especially as you’re looking to volunteer at the volatility in the stock market and the financial sector. This is what I would like you to take away from this. Your money’s safe at the banks. The last thing you should be doing is pulling your money out of the banks now, thinking that it’s going to be safe for someplace else. You don’t want to be walking around with large amounts of cash and you certainly don’t want to be hoarding cash in your mattress. It didn’t pan out well for so many people. And I will tell you this. No depositor has lost a penny of their insured deposits since 1933 when the FDIC was created. So if you’re talking about having your money in a safe place, please keep it in an FDIC insured name. I was like, oh, snap. They’re getting scared as banks don’t have the cash. New rules. They only half have 8 percent reserves on hand. So it’s 8 percent of the US population decides to run on the banks. Ninety-two percent of people can’t and will not be able to get their money out. They pleaded that on the 24th of March 25th, they made a new plea showing that counts. They cover up to 250 KW. Then the same day they retweeted an FDIC bank who is probably having bank run issues. Their post about how cash is dirty, unsafe, unclean and will only be safe with them. Then on Friday, they posted. Banks don’t have to report to them this entire month. The FDIC, in coordination with other federal banking agencies, announced a 30 day grace period for filing first-quarter call reports for banks that may need additional time due to staffing priorities or disruptions as a result of Cauvin 19. So the banks, no frickin oversight right now. And FDIC is in the dark about how bad things are getting regarding their cash reserves. I’m getting my money out of the bank. Cash I can survive with gold as a hedge and BDC cerium and altcoins. They’re holding nicely on my ledgers. Cheers. I’ll see you next time.
