McDonald's in Barboursville WV - 2023.

Spoke with an employee on a field trip there a month ago and they're set for remodel in mid-August. Everything pictured will be gone and remade into another "McPrison"

The employee said the owner held out as long as she could but the building conditions were getting so bad that McDonald's as a corporation said no more repairs unless they remodel.

Locals made offers to buy the Play Place and set it up publicly for kids to play on but McDonald's said everything had to be demolished.

I hadn't been in a Play Place in years. I was able to take my daughter and she made friends with two other little girls who were there playing. She had such a good time that when we left, she cried for a solid thirty minutes before falling asleep on the long ride home.

It reminded me of the McDonald's from when I was a kid. For an hour, I was able to forget that the food was a health hazard and all the shady behind-the-scenes stuff didn't exist. It was the place I went to once a month as a kid to get a burger, play in the Play Place and get a fun toy of Sonic The Hedgehog or Bugs Bunny.

It's not that I hate change, I just hate change for the worse.
