Honor Bound Chapter 6 Update!

I'm pleased to share Honor Bound Chapter 6 today, on dashingdon and itchio! As usual, you can play through the whole thing or skip to the start of the chapter of your choice.

If you have the time and energy, it's always great to hear what you think! There has some feedback (mostly to do with engaging with/thinking about previous colleagues, and with exchanging letters/phone calls with Fiore) that I'm sitting on until I've completed more of the draft so that I've got a better sense of scope and pacing, but please do know that I'm taking it all in and giving it all careful consideration.

This chapter adds around 39,000 words to the demo, putting it at around 263,000 words!

I'd say they're all about equal, but:

I is the quickest to experience jealousy, but their constant control over their emotions tends to dampen its intensity.

Morgan is less expressive in this regard because of their struggle with perceiving emotions and their greater patience, but that doesn't mean they don't experience jealousy. Losing their patience will awaken their 'bossy' side which in other cases can also be seen during more intimate scenes.

possessive

I'm not sure about possessiveness because it needs context for me to give a definite answer.

If it's in relation to jealousy, all ROs in the story are mature individuals who respect that the MC is their own person.

Whatever jealousy they may feel, they won't demand the MC to avoid certain actions or places just because they feel jealous.

However, when it comes to the safety of the MC, it's a different story.

Example: if R saves MC's life in a way that the MC disagrees with, R won't care about it because in their opinion, the MC's life will be more precious than anything else, and R won't care if the MC shares that opinion or not.

They whisper between their fingers and sweeten their breath with the tales of titans of old who once stood so tall that a single breath would cause earth-tremors, their steps reshaping the ground trod beneath them. Their fingers were the tools that smoothed the mountains into points, shaped and carved the ridges and valleys in between. If you hike far enough, one woman claims, if you travel to a point where the oxygen is thin and your vision blacks, you can make out a partial print against the mountainside. You can run your own fingers along its length and still feel the titan’s warmth as if his palm were pressed right against yours.

The woman says, It is a thing of worship. It is a thing of devotion.

In the Labyrinth, they ask you to make you make your body anew before the King of the High Hills. They say that you are alive because you must suffer for the life and love of the Lord, that you must open your body and let him lick along your flesh so that he may taste the endlessness of his perpetual reign.

In the Labyrinth, there is no escape from his touch.

“You have a heavy burden upon you,” the headmaster was saying, teeth and eyes all a glitter under the amber cast candles. “I am not unsympathetic to the arduous path ahead of you—but please understand that this suffering must be experienced for the longevity of the king, for the beautiful life ahead of him. The quiet bartender has a curious perspective on things. He seems to have no problem with the HIVE members patrolling his bar, even serving them drinks like they’re normal customers, despite their heavy armor and edges that are too sharp to be humane.

He also doesn’t seem to be particularly interested in you in the slightest. Why’s that?

THE DIPLOMAT

“Is it better to live in quiet solitude, your voice stripped and taken—or would you rather have died, knowing your voice was the loudest amongst them all?”

Chain. 23, alignment unclear. Current occupation unknown.

He’s someone to keep an eye out for. While he hasn’t practiced his craft in years, he may still prove to be dangerous. Just as friendly as Seven, but far more difficult to truly befriend.

Argos: Neutral Good. Age unknown. The deity whose spear you brandished, after his passing. He was a good man, but the fact only makes your sins rest heavier in your heart.

Teacher: True Neutral. Around ~200 years old. The chasm-dwelling shadow who taught you all you know of the Chasm and its residents.

Alistar: alignment unknown. Around ~200 years old. That’s you! You’re Alistar. At least, that’s what the world has been calling you ever since you ended the war and revitalized humanity, so that is what you will be referred to as throughout the entirety of the story. However, if you’d like to change your name (as Alistar is the default) you may!

As I am primarily an author (as in I literally have done nothing else with my life) I am new to coding (I took ONE coding club in fourth grade) and am trying to write out and perfect a chapter before converting it into typical IF form.

Once I manage to get things situated, I’ll started to code. I’m currently almost done writing chapter 4, so I’ll start working on coding once I finish it.

So, it's not really a surprise when you had used all the money you got for your 7th birthday to buy a surfboard. And even less of a surprise when you started joining small surf competitions by the time you were 10, later followed by bigger competitions.

It seems you are the only one surprised when it turns out you're able to compete in the World Surfer's League's Ultimate Tournament Tour*.

Arlo, despite living in Hawai'i since he was 13, has never been one for beaches or sports, choosing to spend his day in an art studio rather than on the beach, unlike most of the people he knows, including his twin sister; Aria. He's always kept you at arms length for reasons you aren't quite sure about.

Hilo Kalua Mahoe [nonbinary, they/them], your childhood best friend.

Apathetic and reserved, Hilo has been by your side since before you can remember (though your family has many pictures to prove this). Hilo is your exceptionally talented unofficial-official photographer, has been for years, and is accompanying you on the UTT. Ever since you were kids you’ve been hearing comments that Hilo is prickly or mean, but they’re never like that with you.

Elijah/Elaine Lee Ferguson [gender selectable], your rockstar ex.

Impulsive and (seemingly) confident E, more commonly known as ‘Lee Rex’ on stage and just Lee to their friends, is exactly what one would expect out of a rockstar. Your meeting with Lee was purely by coincidence, during their US tour, a show that a couple of your friends dragged you to— though if you knew that know you probably wouldn’t have agreed to go. Whatever Lee was like as your partner is long gone now; evident by all the photos they’ve posted making out with someone on their Instagram story.

Noemia/Nikita Azevedo [gender selectable], your wildcard competitor.

Charismatic and arrogant, N has already made a name for themselves in the surfing community. After placing in the final five in the last UTT, they’ve been chosen as a wildcard this time around. Really, you don’t know all that much about N, considering you’ve never even met them, but from your limited research (e.g: watching interviews on YouTube) you can tell they’re.. a bit of a flirt. It’s hard to tell if a facade or not; but you don’t really want to find out, either.

How would the Ro's deal with a Mc who is a clingy sleeper, head over their chest, tangled legs, hands holding them?

Awe, this is so cute.

Oswin:  He runs a bit warm, but he’s down mostly - legs tangled would be uncomfortable for him at times. Everything else is free game though, and the two may have a hard time untangling when the morning comes. He especially likes MC’s head on his chest and vice versa. He’s also prone to nuzzling the crook of MC’s neck, and wants his hair stroked while they cling to each other before falling asleep.

Zahn:  They are also a clingy sleeper, so this works very well. They are glad to have the snuggles that they’ve craved for so long. They will kick it up a notch and roll the two of them within a blanket as well. Winter would be so fun to them since there isn’t much to do but curl up and stay warm.

Duri:  Likes sleeping close, but not totally twisted up in each other. They’d allow it on occasion since they know we all have wants and needs like that, but they would want to switch to something more like spooning before actually sleeping. They also run very warm, so if MC needs a snuggle, no blankets please. If MC clings in their sleep, Duri gives in very readily, lol (MC is too cute!).

Rune:  They like their space when they sleep most nights. They have times where they need contact more than others. But clinging to each other while awake is fine, they’d rather be awake for it anyway. If MC clings in their sleep, Rune would only extricate themselves as long as it wouldn’t wake MC up.

???:  “Should I tie us together with some rope? Would that be close enough?” *is serious*

Chapter 7 + Ash Hangout Public Update is now live! 🎉

The Chapter 7 and Ash Hangout update is finally here 🔥😁 I'm sorry for the slight delay, I had something urgent to attend to today and I just got home and I just basically went straight to my computer to upload this update.

Finally, we are starting to get into the ROs' first hangout sessions. Of course, to start us off, we'll have Ash's hangout session 😁This update adds around 31K of new words, bringing the total word count so far to around 356,701K words!

Anyway, this update also brings quite a lot of changes in the coding, especially for the skip chapter function, so I'm going to strongly suggest you guys play with clean save, either from the beginning or using the skip chapter function.

I have recently added another skip-chapter checkpoint, which is Chapter 3 in addition to the already existing one on Chapter 6. There is also now an autosave function at the beginning of every chapter starting on Chapter 2, so you'll be able to replay any chapter you're currently reading and try out different options in that chapter.

Anyway, enough of the technicalities.

What if in that story, they run into a bounty hunter that knows they're wanted, a friendly but tough sheriff, the owner of a local saloon, a gunslinger, a preacher, and the ruthless ranchers, prospectors, and cattlemen that metriculate through?
