So how are you feeling about the whole totk situation now?

Oh boy. Buckle up. So yeah, there was some crap going on regarding TOTK. It seems like after release,alot of people were saying that it wasn’t all that good, it sucks,etc. and that went on for months. I’ll be honest, at first it REALLY upset me because I hate to see anything less than positive about the things I love (that’s ASD for you). But as time went on, I realized that I’ve seen this all before. I’ve been in MANY different online fandoms and this cycle is pretty common internet discourse. There’s always going to be a loud vocal minority online that doesn’t like the popular thing. Zelda games in particular tend to get a lot of heat both on/off the internet, someone once told me that WW/TP had a similar situation going on so it’s not the first time. So now I just don’t pay it any mind tbh.

Now I do want to make it clear that there IS a difference between valid, healthy criticism and straight up hate. The game DOES have things to criticize and I acknowledge that. Just like every other video game in existence. It’s valid if you don’t like or were disappointed in Tears of the Kingdom. That’s your opinion and I respect it and I ask that you respect mine as well. All that being said, I have started seeing a lot more positivity now. TOTK was 1,000% my personal GOTY for 2023 and one of the best games I’ve ever played. I still love it with all my heart and nothing will ever change that.

TLDR: The internet is not reflective of real life.

Actually begging for someone to make an edit, or a post, fic, whatever you want with Q!Fit and Tsar by Kamaitachi. In my head, it encapsulates Q!Fit's memories from 2B2T. (And how his love for his family is affected by that past.)

I was just thinking again of Idolish7 and I think that the reason that the theme of legacy and carrying on the baton or becoming something better was done SO well was because it they approached it from that old adage about "paying it forward." It's like....yes, they are rivals and competing and doing this for themselves, but like Otoharu said in one of the story parts, the past isn't worthless because it gives us something to build off of and perhaps surpass (and it's good inspiration, too). And you can see that in addition to just being idols and creating music and making their own kinds of art for themselves, they're also doing this out of love for something from the past. Mitsuki with Zero, Sogo with his uncle, Tamaki for Aya, Iori for his brother, Riku because of his family and Tenn, Tenn for his family/Kujo, Momo and Yuki for the old Re:vale and Banri, Minami and Nagi for Sakura, also even Aya for the families that abandoned her and the new ones that gave her something, etc. Even people like Torao and Yamato, who kind of entered the industry purely out of "selfish" desires have an arc where they received kindness and now just want to pass it on.

To sum it up, by treating the past with respect and real appreciation, they can surpass it without trying to undermine its real impact and beauty.

You know what we don’t talk about enough? The idealisation of thinness in the Mormon church.

All the aesthetics and ideals are of these size 0 blonde white women and, shockingly, that’s harmful.

I discovered this week that wearing a skirt is triggering for me bc it makes me look a little bigger and makes my belly relax from the default “must suck in”.

IM NOT EVEN OVERWEIGHT.

I’m a little “bigger” than I “should be” according to society but dear fucking god who cares?? Call the goddamn police, I guess it’s a crime to love food.

I bought a beautiful skirt. It’s got kinda witchy vibes. These cool suns and moons and it’s so breathable and comfy. I wore it work. AND GUESS FUCKING WHAT. I was uncomfortable all day.

I looked fucking amazing even tho I was just at work. But my stomach said lol nope you don’t get to be comfy without suffering.

I’ve taken to just measuring the waists of pants I want to buy so I don’t have to try them on (usually works just fine) so I did that to a pair of jeans I was wanting to buy (I’d already bought a smaller size that didn’t fit and I was doing a great job feeling neutral about having to size up)

So I measured the waist and saw it should fit but out of paranoia I measured my own and IT HAD GONE UP 10 FUCKING CENTIMETRES.

So I tried the jeans on anyway bc hey, why not, I feel like shit anyway. And it was too tight. Logically I know I was just bloated and shit but there was that little voice in my head that was going “fat, gross, disgusting, whale, etc”

And it sounded just like all the Mormon women that came before me. My mom. My grandmother. My aunt. All women I love and adore and who I don’t have a single memory of when they weren’t on a diet.

I hate that fat phobia is so baked into this religion. I’ve been out for going on 3 years and it’s still fucking affecting me. I can’t wear my beautiful new skirt because it fucks me up too much.

I’m planning to deprogram myself so I can just wear the fucking skirt but I have no idea how long it’ll take. I’ll do it tho. I know that much.

Also guess what. I measured my waist again the next morning. Back down ten centimetres.

If we ever want girls and women and just people in general to feel even slightly normal about their bodies we need to teach them about weight fluctuations and that they’re normal.

I know through experience and research that they’re normal. But I still felt like shit in that moment. It’s just fatphobia, plain and simple.

Okay so Kingdom Hearts characters are often based on established Final Fantasy characters, right?

This is really obvious is some cases, like with Wakka, Tidus, and Selphie basically being directly ripped from their respective games and given island kid reskins

Or with Leon/Squall, Yuffie, Aerith, Cid, Cloud, and Sephiroth all being given reworked backstories and put in

But sometimes the inspiration is more subtle

Like with Larxene/Elrena being inspired by Elena

(Note the tie on Elrena and the EXTREMELY similar names)

Or with Axel presumably being based off of Reno, even being given a similar personality

And how they’re all part of shady organizations with a set uniform, vaguely spy inspired tactics, and unique weapons

(Also the orgs while “finding hearts and changing names because they feel like they changed too much kind of ties into some of ff7’s overall themes of identity and the way your allies/friends/family change the way you perceive yourself but that isn’t super important to this discussion)

What is important is this:

Look at Grimoire. Note Grimoire’s center part, long-ish hair, and the way his chin juts out a little. Puzzle over the fact that he’s a scientist adjacent. Let it stew in your brain for a bit

Now look at young Vincent. Look at the way his hair lays on his face. Look at his silhouette

These two remind you of anyone?

Now any viewer hearing this might say “man they’re reaching. The evidence seems pretty superficial,” too which I say…. You know what that is totally fair. But rationally only stops me a quarter of the time and this is not that

Now we all know KH is Nomura’s baby, so he presumably did most of not all of the character designs. He’s also well known for doing the big character designs in Final Fantasy 7, so it doesn’t seem implausible for him to have taken some inspirations

Additionally, Re:Chain of Memories came out around a year after Dirge of Cerberus

(Original CoM came out like 2 years before, but it was in pixel art, and it isn’t crazy to claim they were in development/early concept at the same time. And who know, maybe Grimoire was based in Vexen/Even and not the other way around)

I omitted adult Ienzo because he’s only in Unreal, and the switch had some pretty big facial structure changes for the org, as exemplified by Luxord

Also it might just be that older men were just Modeled Like That™ but it doesn’t really apply to the other org members so who knows
