General HCs on Mizu with an S/O

First Meeting: How would she have most likely come into contact with the reader?

Personally I believe that Mizu would have most likely met her future S/O whilst they were travelling or working.

I'm gearing this more towards non-binary/female readers so if you're a guy reading this I'm sorry 😞

Anyways, yeah she probably met her S/O whilst they were either running away from something, hiding themselves or maybe as a brothel worker.

Either way I really think the first meeting would go the same no matter how you met her.

She'd be pretty cold and distant as she is with most people, keeping her distance both physically and emotionally. At first she won't treat her future S/O that differently than others.

Her Type: What would her type be?

I see Mizu as someone who needs stability. So ideally her S/O wouldn't be someone with the tendency to need adventure or conflict to thrive.

She would probably want someone who knows who they are, someone she doesn't need to take care of as an addition to herself. Someone who is ok with being alone especially since Mizu strikes me as the type to need time to herself often.

I also think she wouldn't be great with words of affirmation, so if you really need words to feel secure I don't think she'd be a great partner for that. Throughout the show I notice that she shows appreciation mainly through acts of service and quaility time, and this would still be the case with her S/O.

In terms of apperance I don't think she'd actually care too much. I think she may have an unconcious bias towards other Asians since she was raised in Japan, but due to her prior experience with racisim I don't think she'd necessarily be willing to be with someone of European lineage. I think that this might change through time though, especially once Mizu manages to come to terms with her own features. Then I think she'd be pretty unbiased.

They'd also have to be more on the mature side. Not necessarily in terms of age, but just personality wise. Someone who is self-aware and understanding and paitent.

Trust: How trusting would she be?

At first not very.

Obviously she has had incredibly negative experiences with relationships, so once she had an S/O I think she may still struggle with making the difference between her past relationship and her current one.

This may result in a bit of a turbulent start and I think there may be more arguements.

However, as time goes on and she realises that her S/O is truly in love with her for who she is and would probably die for her she starts to open up some more.

I've seen other headcanons saying that she becomes more feminine once she's comfortable with her S/O and I 100% agree with it. Just imagining her with her S/O, her hair down and letting her partner put makeup on her makes me blush and giggle ngl. Like, she is stunning. Breathtaking. Absolutely gorgeous. Words cannot describe how wonderful she is.

Anyways-

Yeah it would be like the reverse of "calm before the storm".

Arguements: How would she handle an arguement between her and her S/O?

Ok, so firstly I think an arguement would probably arise due to her aforementioned unwillingness to open up. Her S/O would be tired of being kept in the dark or worried about Mizu and would pry, and Mizu would snap.

I think Mizu would actually end up storming off, wanting to cool down first before coming back.

Mizu isn't one to solve things with violence when it comes to the people she cares about, so I think she'd prefer to talk things out calmly instead of yelling.

It may turn into yelling if said S/O tried to follow her when she leaves to go cool down though.

After the arguement she may be a little cold for a couple of days before returning to her usual self.

Marriage: Does she want to get remarried?

At the beginning of the relationship I do not think she was very willing to get married again. (Fuck you M*kio.)

Of course, as I mentioned plenty of times before she would have a lot of reservations in terms of opening herself up emotionally.

She fears getting married again might be a Mikio pt. 2 which would not be great for her mental health.

But as the relationship grows and her S/O proves that they intended to stay by her side ring or not... that's when she starts to consider the idea again. Especially since this time it's with someone she truly loves and who loves her back.

Her wedding would be small. Obviously. No hate to my precious baby but she doesn't have a whole lot of friends nor family to invite over. It would most likely just consist of her S/O and her, Ringo and Akemi. Who may or may not have dragged Taigen along.

Mizu would get to wear her wedding attire and properly get married to the love of her life. 😭😭😭

I can imagine her being really nervous beforehand, wondering if her S/O might consider her ugly once she saw her in her wedding attire and what not.

But of course her S/O would be like "stfu you're beautiful".

All in all it'd be a pretty emotional affair, lots of crying (behind doors for Mizu) and hugs.

Do you think Ted knows he's complicit in aiding in Jamie's abuse? What about Rebecca?

Ngl I don’t even think Ted realized it is that bad. As far as Jamie goes, he has a huge blind spot in regards to this topic. This could be for a multitude of reasons: the generation he was born into. The fact that he himself used to play sports and may have internalized the idea that ‘sports dads can be like that’ without ever looking deeper. The fact that his own childhood contained a different sort of trauma, watching his own father struggle with mental illness. Then his trauma with how he lost his father. In a way, Ted follows the opposite of Occam’s Razor- when he looks at Jamie’s relationship with his dad, he sees complexity, he sees zebras.

He doesn’t see the simple facts, the hoof of the matter: that this is a mean person who hurts his kid with the intent to do so.

So before Ted has any realization about how his actions might have exacerbated the situation between Jamie and his dad, Ted would first have to come to terms with how he failed to recognize how bad it was in the first place.

I’d also throw in here that part of the tragedy of all this is how there’s no one character who actually has the full Jamie Tartt backstory cheatsheet- it’s spread out amongst Ted, Roy, Keeley, Jamie’s mum. And Jamie’s not good at asking for help, let alone accepting help.

I do think that of the immediate people in his life, the ones who have the clearest idea of Jamie’s abuse are Roy ‘he’s a living piece of shit’ Kent and Willis ‘alright that’s enough / *head smash* / I’m gonna take a walk’ Beard. They might not have the full story, but something about the way they react has a ‘well that’s all that I need to see’ vibe to it.

(In a darker speculative turn, I do wonder if maybe Beard has mentioned some of his own experiences to Ted. If knowing about Beard’s own experiences with (what I imagine) was also an abusive upbringing may have given Ted the wrong impression about What Abuse Looks Like and how people react to it, and if that plays into his impression of Jamie’s dad maybe not being that bad if Jamie himself appears confident and well-adjusted. A sort of unconscious bias if you will, the kind of paper-thin reasoning that doesn’t hold water when examined but if Ted’s never had reason to examine it…)

Oh. You also asked about Rebecca. Honestly, unless Keeley is talking about him, they’re talking about him in terms of the club, or he is literally standing in front of her, I don’t think Rebecca thinks of him much at all. Not cruelly. It’s just- she mainly knows him as a player and through Keeley. She’s picked up a bit about him, she cares for him the same way she cares for all her players, maybe a little more because of Keeley, but he’s not really a part of her life, nor is she a part of his.

She’s does wonder sometimes, what might’ve happened if she’d never sent him back to Manchester, but that’s from the perspective of the club. I don’t think she knows what that cost him. I think she’d feel awful if she did know.

That’s the other tragedy of Jamie’s story- for any of this to get resolved, someone would have to talk about it. And no one’s talking.

Ngl my pet peeve is when people can’t separate just a fandom from the whole fricking country of industry. Like yeah, Diabolik Lovers is liked in Japan as an otome game but to say “this character is so popular in Japan” is a bit of a stretch, especially when it’s coming from foreigners. I feel like it’s very hard measuring who the most popular character in the Japanese DL fandom is because each fan is in their own world and you can’t count them. There are many people who will support your bias, thus it is simply impossible to determine who has the most fans. However, it is true that some characters are liked more than others, but typically this is because of how long they have been a part of the games. I guess that’s why the Tsukinamis and Kino don’t get as much hype as the rest.

I agree that something might be popular in a community but be insignificant outside that community. Ayato is undoubtedly the most famous DL character in general, since I’m pretty sure most people in the Japanese otoge fandom have a thing for him or, at the very least, know who he is. His visuals made him really known and loved, so those gave him bigger impact than expected from an otoge character, as mentioned here. Yet again, this only applies as a whole. Even if he got a bunch of stans in the DL fandom, a lot of them aren’t even part of it to begin with.

From my point of view, a character must either 1) be a part of an iconic game (I cited Hakuoki above), 2) have a distinctive personality, or 3) have timeless visuals, in order to become well-known even outside of its community. I’ve never seen any that fits all of these but one is already enough.

noo, you're right. i haven't read minhkhoa content yet (i stopped reading weekly releases around 2020... and i read new issues very selectively since then), but from what i've heard, the way aspd is utilised in his storyline is questionable at best...

with jason the case is also that it is very obvious that he would not commit half of these actions under normal circumstances, and his crimes and targets (yes, including tim) in this time seem extremely random. so it is rather clear that the reason for which the concept was introduced is that they wanted to make him into a one-dimensional ""crazy"" villain. they didn't really know what else to do with him after utrh, he needed to go back to aimlessly haunting the narrative as bruce's failure.

but, to go on a tandem, dc comics' treatment of the topic of mental illness is in itself... not the best.

i know people laugh about the "beating up the mentally ill" batman take, but i feel like it gets dismissed a bit too lightly. at least in the sense that there's no actual reason to label most of batman's rogues as "criminally insane." with jason, at least (or rather unfortunately, since in that context it encourages the stigma) there was a portrayal of the psychotic break, including the delusions (in case someone is unfamiliar: in the medical sense, delusions are false fixed beliefs, which may be accompanied by false memories; in comics, jason briefly has a delusion that he killed tim.) but at least half of the villains that are supposed to belong in arkham seem just plainly evil rather than having any condition that would prevent them from understanding the gravity of their actions. so, to reiterate, the issue is not "batman beats up mentally ill people" but rather: "most of the people that batman beats up aren't mentally ill and are only called that to make them seem more unstable and dangerous." and that's obviously just ableism.

i'm not here to educate people (espeically not you, anon, you obviously know your stuff; i'm just using your ask as a pretext!) nor talk social justice, but i reckon (at least for the sake of people who do want to critically engage with media) it might be of interest to cite a couple of academic papers on this topic:

in conclusion: dc could definitely tone down the whole "criminally insane" villains paradigm a bit, especially that it wouldn't cost them much in terms of storytelling. if anything, the narrative would benefit from it.

(and the fandom could also let go of jason's lazarus pit induced violent psychosis plotlines, especially as a plot device for tim whump. just saying)

for arjuna i like that he feels pressured to perform perfectly at all times but still cant help resenting that that same performance doesnt come naturally to him like it seems to do with other people. i find it very relatable. i like the gap of him simultaneously being incredibly confident to the point of seeming smug in his abilities in things that he is familiar with/can practice, and his deep insecurity with basically everything else (especially when they're less tangible and unable to be practiced.) the fact that he seems to find himself unworthy of being loved if he isnt useful or helpful in some way is incredibly familiar to me, so it bothers me to see people miss that side of his character and brush him off as arrogant when a lot of it is overcompensating on things he knows he's good at so he can prove he's valuable. i find his sadness, anger and resentment that he masks and tries to downplay incredibly human and its been really nice seeing him grow out from his inital withdrawn confines.

also ngl i've wanted to shoot my older brother's head off as well but i know id probably react like him after. probably. maybe.

also i like his fluffy hair and pretty eyes

i also like how arjuna alter functions both initially as a mirror reflecting arjuna's own toxic perfectionism back onto the world around him, showing how the continuation of that ideal harms not only yourself but the people around you, and how he functions later as a glimpse into what arjuna was like prior to some of the most defining events of his life. what little glimmers we've seen of him are both incredibly compelling and incredibly tragic as someone who's lost their identity and reason for being the way they are. we know nothing of how he ended up the way he is, and hes a shell of the person he was. and yet even so, he was able to retain some small sense of self, and although he'll never be the same as his old self he can still have a life and form a new purpose

I wish that people who hated Nightheart wouldn’t be so, like,,, hostile about it towards his fans, I guess? Idk I personally relate to him to an significant degree (like I don’t think I’ve ever related this much to a character before ngl) in spite of his flaws. And yet, in saying this (on both tumblr in the past and on other sites), I have been attacked verbally and accused of being somehow misogynistic (uh,,, what? Many of my favorite characters are literally the she-cats, such as Mothwing or Frostpaw or Hollyleaf or Squirrelflight) or even accused of being ‘abusive’ for liking him, which really doesn’t make any sense to me either? He’s not, y’know, Bramblestar or something. This is especially true when it comes to trans headcanons: I personally like to view Nightheart as transmasc like myself because I find a lot of his story elements regarding his name change and identity issues ofc. But,,, whenever I say anything abt this headcanon there’s always some ppl who use it as ammo to accuse me / others of awful stuff. I even got told to unal1ve myself by someone before over this which is,,, not cool. I try not to let this sorta thing get to me but I do feel that it has gotten pretty extreme over this past year and I don’t think it’s okay at all. People can like or dislike whatever characters they want imo (unless we’re talking about, like, Thistleclaw supporters. That’s a bit weird) and they should never ever be sent literal hate or harassment over it. I just kinda want people to chill a bit and maybe consider that there are better ways to discuss any disagreements they may have over the books and not jump straight into being cruel / accusatory towards them, if that makes sense.

I agree, I understand why people may not like Nightheart but it is completely unacceptable for people to be harassing people like that, I’m very sorry you’ve experienced that. I understand people are frustrated about how the female characters around Nightheart have been written in Sky. But that’s a writing issue and not a reflection on Nightheart himself imo, and it is extremely unfair to judge people for liking him. Especially with as you say Nightheart not being problematic in himself.

Of course it’s not excusable to harass people in any kind of character debate such as this but I feel that the Nightheart hate has become extreme in certain areas given how unproblematic the actual character is, if people enjoy the who he is then let people enjoy him. I find him funny, I like Nightheart, and although I can definitely see the issues with how some characters have been presented to suit his narrative more I still like the character.

Obviously this isn’t all Nightheart dislikers I’m talking about, not by any means, but the minority that do harass people like this are just ruining it for everyone.

I do wonder, obviously without reading Shadow myself, if this is inherently an author issue this stems from. In River the world warped around Nightheart much less and the female family members in his life were treated with more consistent and sympathetic characterisation. That was a Cherith book. People after River disliked Nightheary sure but it was more of a “I find him annoying” thing. Sky is where it all went wrong and where I’ve noticed people taking it out on Nightheart for being understandably upset about Sparkpelt’s and Finchlight’s characterisation changes in that book. That book does have much more emphasis on the Firestar thing from characters who are not Nightheart (in River his frustrations were largely self imposed), and the TC female characters act a lot more unreasonable than they usually would in general. That was a Kate book. Meanwhile I have heard that Shadow, another Cherith book, treats his female relatives much more sympathetically again. So I can’t help feel that author bias may be influencing the writing associated with him here? Sorry to go off on a tangent at the end here but it’s just a thought, and one I wonder if could cause a change in fandom perception of Nightheart again once shadow is out.

Seeing these asks on my newsfeed about who they forgive and who they'll make sure never breathes in the same direction as them again i agree with all if not most of them! Jungwon is a clear "forgive" for me, a lot may have thought that the last line is a little crossing it and IT IS but honestly it reminded me of a certain situation for me rn and i DEFINITELY needed to hear that rn (from jungwon my bias too even if its ff no less) niki is a close second but I AM PETTY SO GROVEL FOR A BIT MORE HAHA jay can be forgiven since he did seem to regret at the end but its just weird to not remember or have like an alarm/reminder about a loved ones bday YOUR LOVER OF ALL PEOPLE like i get not remembering bdays (i dont really try to remember every person i know's bday but only the special ones) so yeah he can grovel a little longer than niki. Pretty we also came to a general consensus that the rest are irredeemable LMAOOOO but i think i saw u question you expected hoon to be the most hated one and as a hee amd sunoo (this ff) not forgiver for me its the "other woman" kind of deal cause with sunghoon, he's a bitch but atleast no other parties involved while for sunoo and heeseung is like not are they a bitch but its also like another slap on the face cause they dont respect you as a lover by bringing a 3rd party in the argument. Anyways that was long HAHAHA but yeah, those are my thoughts but in the end of the day its your account and work so you have the freedom to do whatever (unless you forgive the bottom 3 ill fight u /j)

Hi hi! :D Whenever I get ask about favorite dramas my perspective always seems to change as time goes by tbh! Here's an old ask from 2021 that included my favorite kdramas — but now I'm honestly really picky with what I call a "favorite" drama. Like yes, I still very much enjoyed past ones I called a favorite but if I had to put it in a category it'd be that I just enjoyed it a lot in the moment. If that makes any sort of sense 😭 For a drama to be a favorite I literally need to feel some sort of attachment to it. Ch. 1, Where am I?:

☆I started this fic at like, 2 am, just on complete impulse. Everything here just summoned itself from my 2 am brainrot.

☆I didn't really chat this chapter out with any friends, so nothing too silly.

Ch. 2, Meeting New People?:

☆I was planning on making reader more of a Simp, but I talked to my friends and we decided against it, since it would be difficult for reader to get along with characters more genuinely.

☆At the end of the chapter, "If I go to sleep here, will I wake back up in the real world?...", I was thinking of just posting chapter 3 where it said: You wake up, story over. The end.

Ch. 3, We are the Army.:

☆Army was an octoling since the beginning! You can see that in the banner. The background is made up of octopi instead of squids, and you can see a bit of a tentacle.

Ch. 4, If memory serves wrong...:

☆Bro I suck at writing flirty stuff. End me now, Aloha's difficult for me to write

☆The "nothin' personal, kid", was a total reference, and I plan on adding many more. I'm going to try my best to add some iconic vines that still suit the scene.

Ch. 5, Descisions, decisions.:

☆On the other hand, I looove drawing aloha! He's so cute and silly! I like to draw his tentacles very round and bubbly and man, his eyes are so pretty!

☆This was the chapter that made me start thinking about giving reader teammates, mostly because they needed someone other than a bench to sleep.

Ch. 6, Hoooow Anoooying.:

☆I wanted to make him a little silly, giving him more of a personality. He can't be scary all the time, I really do think part of it is an act.

☆I was torn between what to do for the banner. I already used Mask with his mask on for chapter 6, and I planned on using his maskless version for what's now chapter 13. But then I remembered another one of my favorite boyos, Desi! I know he isn't featured too much in this chapter, and I'm sorry, but I needed something!

☆Anyways, I know this entire battle by heart. I know all of Mask's voice lines. Save me.

☆I try my best to not show bias in my fics, but I will relentlessly show it outside of em'.

Ch. 8, Newfound Family.:

☆I was stuck between just giving reader nameless teammates, incase ya'll already had your own ocs in mind of something, but I HATE nameless characters. And characters that don't have a personality. I figured that I'd already have to give them personalities, so why not go all in.

☆Soooo, I threw in my beloved OCs! I've had these guys around for YEARS, so I know them and their personalities like the back of my hand, which makes writing for them super easy and fun!

☆bro they look so cursed with splatoon 1 hairstyles to me. I didn't have the heart to snatch their iconic hair, so ignore that.

Ch. 9, Shopping Spree!:

☆After seeing that the next day, I realised that the squad tm would take up 2 chapters total. There's 3 of them. So then I had to figure out how to do the banners. I worked it out, though!

Also while Photoshop isn't isn't free, I know a couple people who didn't know this was an option so I do wanna mention it in case it's accessible to you at this price: Adobe also has a $10 USD a month Photography plan that comes with Lightroom, Photoshop, and the two programs' mobile apps. We get less cloud storage space and generative fill credits with the new AI tool Adobe rolled out than the $20 USD a month Photoshop only plan, but if that's not a deal breaker, I actually highly recommend going with the Photography plan if you're going to pay for Photoshop ngl (but I also use Photoshop daily, it's my post-work self care thing so that's something to factor in with my assessment/bias). Sorry for how long this is, I ramble a lot, but I hope this helps a bit!

Hi there anon! Sorry I’m late…I’ve been a way more crazed version of myself since Argentina won 😂 So here’s the thing, and this may be controversial: I’ve never been an Mbappe fan. It sounds like I’m not the only one either lol. This might just be my opinion, but most of the time I find him to be greedy and a tad bit arrogant. I’m open to being wrong though! I’ve been wrong before, as we all have.

But taking a step back from that bias, he played superbly today. It’s not every day a 23 year-old scores a hat trick in a World Cup FINAL of all places. That’s no easy feat for a more seasoned footballer, let alone one in his early 20s.

I’m not sure I personally feel too bad for him though. He has a World Cup under his belt, and I think he’ll be ok. If you’d like some Mbappe positivity though, he’s got so many World Cups left in him and a very bright future awaiting him! This loss will hurt for a while, no doubt. I won’t discount that by any means. But once the hurt fades, I have no doubt he will go on to do some truly incredible things. I think we should all, no matter what country we come from, keep an eye on him in the coming world cups.
